- 0:00Speaker 1: Good afternoon, everybody. Welcome to the program here on a
- 0:02Friday on Sports Radio AM thirteen under the Zone. My
- 0:05name is Craigway, so glad to have you with us,
- 0:07and hopefully, as I always say, Friday for you means Friday.
- 0:12What it does for a lot of folks that you
- 0:15are on the advent of the weekend and maybe a
- 0:17time to catch your breath or go out to a
- 0:20rather large college football game tomorrow, or a big high
- 0:24school football game than ida really big car race here
- 0:28in the Austin area on Sunday. If Friday does not
- 0:32mean that for you, maybe only your Wednesday, so to speak,
- 0:36middle of the week or even starting a week, hopefully
- 0:40it'll go well for you as well. Glad to have
- 0:42you with us. Again, I'm Craig Way, and the US
- 0:47refers to the producer Camera d Parker. The deal on
- 0:50the birth certificate stands for Dallas, as in the city
- 0:54that houses his favorite pro football team that he is
- 0:58literally disgusted with refuses to watch right now, and that
- 1:03of his father as well, who named him that Dallas
- 1:07with the middle name.
- 1:08Speaker 2: So this does it ever bother.
- 1:11Speaker 1: You that your middle name is Dallas name, But because
- 1:15of who you were named after.
- 1:16Speaker 2: And remember when you were born.
- 1:19Speaker 1: Jerry Jones was already eight years into the ownership of
- 1:22the Dallas Cowboys.
- 1:23Speaker 2: Now he had three Super Bowl.
- 1:24Speaker 1: Rings, which he still has, just the three, the three
- 1:28Vince Lombardi trophies, and it was two years after his
- 1:31last one that you were born. But does it ever
- 1:34bother you that you were named for the team that
- 1:36Jerry Jones owns.
- 1:38Speaker 2: No.
- 1:38Speaker 3: I like it a lot.
- 1:39Speaker 4: I think it's actually kind of unique in some sort
- 1:42of way. I don't know a lot of people named Dallas.
- 1:45I mean, Dallas Goddard, Dallas Clark, something to do with
- 1:49tight end. Should have been a tight End and I
- 1:51kind of have the frame for it. But you know,
- 1:54it's funny. I have a couple ex's and all their
- 1:56middle names seem to be Rose. So at least it's
- 1:59something different, right, Oh, Dallas is a little bit different,
- 2:02and people find it amusing.
- 2:03Speaker 3: It's it's a good icebreaker.
- 2:04Speaker 4: It's a good story at parties with different people because
- 2:07everyone always wants to, like, guess your middle name. I'm like, Okay,
- 2:11starts with the D, but you won't get it in.
- 2:16Speaker 2: D David.
- 2:17Speaker 4: It's like, Okay, it's not that white. It's a white
- 2:20middle name, Dallas, but it's not that white.
- 2:22Speaker 1: Come on, people, did I hear you say you have
- 2:25a couple of exes whose name is Rose.
- 2:27Speaker 3: The middle name is Rose. It's weird.
- 2:29Speaker 4: I had like three in a row where their middle
- 2:31name all seemed to be Rose, and I was like,
- 2:34what's going on here?
- 2:35Speaker 3: Now?
- 2:35Speaker 4: They all were white and blondes and all from North Carolina.
- 2:39So maybe it's like a thing in North Carolina where
- 2:41it's like, hey, your mill name has to be Rose.
- 2:44Speaker 2: That was my mom's first name in.
- 2:45Speaker 4: Okay, Okay, I was gonna say it's a red flag,
- 2:47but you know, first name is probably better than middle name.
- 2:51Speaker 1: My mom was the daughter of two Italian immigrants. Her
- 2:54actual name on her versity is Rosa.
- 2:57Speaker 3: But okay, yeah, I think there is is Rose and
- 3:00none of them are Italians.
- 3:01Speaker 1: Okay, Uh, that's interesting that that.
- 3:04Speaker 2: Did you bring that up? Yeah?
- 3:05Speaker 1: All of those Dallas's you know, the long time for
- 3:09decades play by play voice of the Brownwood Lions, one
- 3:11of the one of the most successful programs in high
- 3:15school football history, with seven state titles and all that.
- 3:18His name is Dallas Houston. Dallas Houston now that I
- 3:23think was an air name. I think Dallas Houston. Okay, yeah,
- 3:27but yeah, the long time immortal play by play voice
- 3:31of the.
- 3:31Speaker 2: Brown good name.
- 3:32Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean you're not gonna You're not gonna forget that.
- 3:34Speaker 2: It kind of it kind of has a ring to it. Dead.
- 3:37Speaker 4: Uh this, Maybe should I go by Dallas Parker then
- 3:39would that be better? Or Dallas Cameron camera Cameron. Dallas
- 3:42was a famous YouTuber.
- 3:44Speaker 1: Oh yeah, that's right. Yeah, I kind of like I
- 3:46kind of like Dallas Parker kind of like it. But
- 3:48your mom didn't want that.
- 3:49Speaker 3: No, No, I don't. I don't think she would like that.
- 3:51Speaker 2: She would not be h.
- 3:53Speaker 4: She has never called me by my name Dallas, and
- 3:56I think my dad's probably forgotten my own name is
- 3:57Dallas at this point.
- 3:59Speaker 2: Even though he the one you were pushed for it.
- 4:01Speaker 1: Okay, I I should tell you, uh that, Uh there
- 4:07there's a ring to this weekend here in Austin, obviously,
- 4:10Texas and Georgia. Final preparations are underway the ESPN UH
- 4:14Sports centers down here and uh uh both on campus
- 4:20at UT and then at the F one track at
- 4:21Coda over the weekend. Uh ESPN College game Day is
- 4:26already down here. When I saw a photo tweeted out
- 4:29of Sark with Desmond Howard.
- 4:30Speaker 4: Pat McAfee did his show from the old l HN broadcast.
- 4:34Speaker 1: Yeah, so there's there's uh, they're in town, they're they're
- 4:38all here for this, and obviously here's a great deal
- 4:40of excitement about it as well. And and I readily
- 4:45admit people who know me know that I don't. I'm
- 4:50not really much into the whole wagering side of things.
- 4:54I never really paid that much attention to it, mainly
- 4:58because I don't wager on games, but I just really
- 5:01hadn't paid that much attention to it. I also know
- 5:03what the strategy is involved for those who set the
- 5:07odds is that they're they're wanting action on both sides.
- 5:09They might not necessarily believe one team is X number
- 5:13of points better than another, but that might be the deal.
- 5:17Well anyway, Georgia, I've learned this Today owns the longest
- 5:23active streak as the betting favorite in each game, forty
- 5:28nine consecutive weeks. It's going to end tomorrow unless there's
- 5:33an incredible amount of action put on them. Texas Today
- 5:40said forty nine forty nine consecutive the Good Seams forty
- 5:45nine games. Forty nine consecutive games they have been the
- 5:50betting line favorite, and that will end at forty nine
- 5:53tomorrow because the Loghorns a consensus five point favorite in
- 6:00the game tomorrow.
- 6:01Speaker 2: The line opened.
- 6:03Speaker 1: At three and a half for Texas, and then a
- 6:07whole lot of bets on the Longhorns hit multiple sports
- 6:10books on Wednesday, and that nudged the spread up as
- 6:14high as five and a half and it settled in
- 6:16at five.
- 6:17Speaker 4: Came in a twenty minute interval. They said, so Whyer
- 6:21of Mattress Mac was involved.
- 6:23Speaker 2: In that, involved in that? Maybe, I don't know.
- 6:26Speaker 1: At BETMGM, more bets have been placed and more money
- 6:30wagered on Texas minus the points than any other team
- 6:35on the board. Fanatics sports book reported yesterday the Long
- 6:38Runs had attracted six times as much money from betters
- 6:41as any other team on the Saturday college football slate.
- 6:45The money wagered on Texas this week at Fanatics already
- 6:48more than the total amount wagered on the Ohio State
- 6:51Oregon game last week. Approximately ninety percent of the money
- 6:55bet on the Georgia Texas spread was on the long
- 6:58Horns at Fanatics so it was a little more balanced.
- 7:02To ESPN, bet Texas got fifty two percent of the
- 7:05bets and the money wagered on the point spread. Georgia
- 7:08has not been a betting underdog in a game since
- 7:11the twenty twenty one season opener against Clemson. Alabama owns,
- 7:17in case you're interested, the longest all time streak of
- 7:20being favored, the Crimson Tide favored in ninety two consecutive games,
- 7:24a streak that began at twenty fifteen and ended with
- 7:26the twenty twenty one SEC Championship game against Georgia. So
- 7:30for those of you are into the wagering side of that,
- 7:35there you go, there's some there's some interest for you
- 7:38on that.
- 7:38Speaker 4: I'll tell you what, Craig, This Texas team likes to
- 7:41end streaks. I think about last year against Alabama. Right, Alabama,
- 7:45I don't think had lost a non conference game at
- 7:47Bryant Denny since New Mexico State and Sabans first year.
- 7:51Texas snapped that, and then Michigan the longest active win
- 7:54streak and longest active home win streak until Texas snapped that,
- 7:59and we too, So we'll see.
- 8:01Speaker 1: Yeah, I think it was a fifty three game home
- 8:03winning streak for Alabama. Then then Michigan had streak. So yeah,
- 8:06Long Words have done that. We'll see how this streak
- 8:08is effective.
- 8:09Speaker 2: All right. Coming up on the program this.
- 8:11Speaker 1: Afternoon, we're going to obviously more on the Texas Georgia matchup.
- 8:16We'll hear from coach Sark from last night's edition of
- 8:18Long Worn Weekly where Sark was talking in specifics in
- 8:24our matchup segment about the Bulldogs. Will bring that to you.
- 8:27We do have inconceivable, Cameron. We know what inconceivable on
- 8:31the Friday means.
- 8:32Speaker 4: We go down to the more flaccid, the lower forty
- 8:35eight states and search for that Florida man and Florida woman.
- 8:38Speaker 1: Yeah, it was pretty low hanging fruit this week coming
- 8:41off of Hurricane Milton.
- 8:42Speaker 2: A couple of items about that. So we'll have that.
- 8:45Speaker 1: And coming up next we're gonna hear we'll have some
- 8:48more on college football. I'll look back at the NFL. Yeah,
- 8:53the National League and American League Championship Series continued today.
- 8:58The Dodgers are going for the clincher this afternoon. They
- 9:01start about two hours from now, and they'll be playing
- 9:04the New York Mets in Game five. The Yankees and
- 9:07Guardians playing in the night. What a historic name that
- 9:10was last night, Just a real thumper with the Guardians
- 9:14getting the walk off homer in the bottom of the tenth.
- 9:16We'll talk about that, and we're going to hear from
- 9:18Vic Schaffer, Texas women's basketball head coach on the eve of.
- 9:21Speaker 2: The start of the season.
- 9:21Speaker 1: All that and more coming your way on a Friday
- 9:23afternoon here on sports Radio AM thirteen under the Zone
- 9:26and where you always listen to us for free on
- 9:28the iHeartRadio app.
