- 0:04Speaker 1: All right, Well, here we are. We got him, We
- 0:06Speaker 1: got cal Rawley.
- 0:07Speaker 2: Here he is the big dumper. Do you get tired
- 0:09Speaker 2: of that nickname? Uh?
- 0:12Speaker 3: No, it's good.
- 0:13Speaker 2: It's good. You're okay with it.
- 0:15Speaker 3: Take whatever you can get, right, Yeah.
- 0:16Speaker 1: But I mean you know you, you know, family and
- 0:20Speaker 1: mom and dad and everyone.
- 0:21Speaker 3: We've we've learned to embrace it. It's all good.
- 0:23Speaker 2: I'll take you. Listen, the year you had.
- 0:25Speaker 1: They if I had a year like you had last year,
- 0:27Speaker 1: they could call me anything.
- 0:28Speaker 2: I wouldn't care a right.
- 0:30Speaker 3: Let's keep doing it until this one.
- 0:32Speaker 1: I I just gotta say I I pined for you
- 0:34Speaker 1: for MVP from starting about June until the whole year,
- 0:38Speaker 1: even when I did your playoff series against the Tigers.
- 0:40Speaker 1: The home runs you hit, the way you handle the staff.
- 0:42Speaker 1: To me, listen, if you can't win the MVP with
- 0:45Speaker 1: the year you had, then how is Aaron Judge ever
- 0:47Speaker 1: gonna lose the MVP? Because you had one of the
- 0:49Speaker 1: all time greatest years for a catcher, sixty home runs,
- 0:53Speaker 1: the way you led your team to the postseason, won
- 0:55Speaker 1: the division. Sorry, you should have been a Gold Glover.
- 0:57Speaker 2: Again. I know who won it, but I.
- 0:59Speaker 1: For me, you went platinum last year, and this year
- 1:02Speaker 1: you don't even make the finals, So I don't know
- 1:04Speaker 1: what else you could possibly do to not win the
- 1:06Speaker 1: m v P.
- 1:09Speaker 3: Win a world series. So I mean it's all good,
- 1:12Speaker 3: you know.
- 1:12Speaker 4: I mean, you know how all that stuff goes down,
- 1:15Speaker 4: it's out of out of uh out of our control.
- 1:17Speaker 4: So you know, just looking to to be as consistent
- 1:21Speaker 4: as possible, you know, focus on the little things, try
- 1:24Speaker 4: to take it one pitch at a time, win as
- 1:26Speaker 4: many games as possible, and and uh, you know, hopefully
- 1:29Speaker 4: at the end of the year, you know, went in
- 1:30Speaker 4: that ring well will uh suthe a lot of a
- 1:33Speaker 4: lot of.
- 1:33Speaker 2: The pains, So especially in Seattle, right, Oh yeah, we.
- 1:37Speaker 4: The fans are dying for for for a winner there,
- 1:40Speaker 4: so that you know, we're happy with.
- 1:42Speaker 3: You know, obviously what happened last year.
- 1:44Speaker 4: We were very excited and very disappointed at the same time,
- 1:47Speaker 4: but a huge step in the in the right direction
- 1:49Speaker 4: and looking to to build off of that.
- 1:51Speaker 5: So yeah, I was also on that m VP trained
- 1:55Speaker 5: for you as well too, and I potentially got buried
- 1:58Speaker 5: because you know, Aaron Judge is Aaron Judge. But the
- 2:00Speaker 5: year you had like the catcher position, I mean, there's
- 2:03Speaker 5: never been a better one. So I was tuned that
- 2:05Speaker 5: horn as well. But my question to you is, what
- 2:08Speaker 5: do you remember about that home run in Game five
- 2:11Speaker 5: of the ALCS. I was fortunate enough to be there
- 2:13Speaker 5: covering for the Blue Jays. It was one of the
- 2:16Speaker 5: best atmospheres I had ever seen. And I know players,
- 2:19Speaker 5: when they're in that moment, they kind of black out.
- 2:21Speaker 5: Do you kind of even remember that moment of how
- 2:23Speaker 5: loud it was and how electric it was in that stadium?
- 2:26Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean I kind of kind of blacked out
- 2:28Speaker 4: round the bases. But I mean, to me, I just
- 2:31Speaker 4: more so remember Gino's home run. I mean, I mean
- 2:34Speaker 4: that place was absolutely shaking. I mean the roof closed,
- 2:38Speaker 4: you know, kind of you know, we weren't giving them
- 2:40Speaker 4: a whole lot to cheer about those first two games there.
- 2:42Speaker 4: You know, the Blue Jays kind of dominated us there
- 2:44Speaker 4: in game three and gave four and they were just
- 2:46Speaker 4: waiting to kind of verse like that, and when it happened,
- 2:49Speaker 4: you know, that whole inning was was very special.
- 2:51Speaker 3: And you know that's ah, Like.
- 2:53Speaker 4: I said, it's a lot of people compliment you know Seattle.
- 2:57Speaker 4: You know when they come there, you know how loud,
- 2:58Speaker 4: it is the fans and how great of a place
- 3:01Speaker 4: it is to play. So it was, it was, it
- 3:03Speaker 4: was very fun.
- 3:03Speaker 1: You guys have expectations now, yeah, especially with the team
- 3:08Speaker 1: across the street from you guys in Seattle having just
- 3:11Speaker 1: won the Super Bowl. All right, Yeah, so now there,
- 3:14Speaker 1: this is kind of a new place for the Mariners.
- 3:16Speaker 1: I mean, I think you guys, I just picked you
- 3:19Speaker 1: guys to win the American League. I just think you
- 3:21Speaker 1: guys have a great team Seattle, everything that's going for it.
- 3:25Speaker 1: What do you have to do to help them? And
- 3:29Speaker 1: not individually maybe, but what what is your stance after
- 3:32Speaker 1: the way things ended last year? Did you go into
- 3:34Speaker 1: the offseason and say, if I only could do X
- 3:36Speaker 1: y Z better?
- 3:38Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 3:38Speaker 4: I think it's I think, to me, kind of what
- 3:40Speaker 4: I mentioned earlier, just the little things, you know, I think,
- 3:43Speaker 4: to me, the game is so it's so driven by
- 3:45Speaker 4: you know, stats and analytics and and things like that,
- 3:48Speaker 4: and it's those are obviously all important, and those are
- 3:51Speaker 4: big chunk of it, but it's the little things that
- 3:53Speaker 4: went baseball games, you know. You know, I hate to
- 3:55Speaker 4: say it, but looking and looking at the Blue Jays
- 3:57Speaker 4: like they did the little things just a little better
- 4:00Speaker 4: us last year.
- 4:00Speaker 3: And and uh, you know you could say, you know
- 4:03Speaker 3: that game.
- 4:04Speaker 4: Could have gone either way Game seven, but you know
- 4:05Speaker 4: it went their way and they were able to you know,
- 4:08Speaker 4: get some two strikes here, hits here and there, and
- 4:12Speaker 4: you know, extend innings, put the ball in play when necessary,
- 4:16Speaker 4: moved the runner.
- 4:18Speaker 3: Not that we didn't do a good job of next.
- 4:19Speaker 3: I thought we did, especially down the stretch.
- 4:21Speaker 4: But it's little things like that, you know, making pitches
- 4:23Speaker 4: when you have to executing in certain areas, you know,
- 4:26Speaker 4: knowing knowing who to who to go after, who to
- 4:29Speaker 4: you know, go around. So it's just little things like
- 4:31Speaker 4: that that I think they are going to be, you know,
- 4:33Speaker 4: unquantifiable in a way that are That's usually where at
- 4:38Speaker 4: the end of the day, the teams in.
- 4:39Speaker 3: October, those are the guys doing the right thing.
- 4:42Speaker 5: So two questions, oh sorry, two questions for you kind
- 4:47Speaker 5: of on that topic. Obviously you were at a front
- 4:49Speaker 5: row seat to what the Blue Jays were able to do.
- 4:51Speaker 5: Is that a conversation that you guys have had from
- 4:54Speaker 5: like a hitting standpoint of you saw how difficult it
- 4:57Speaker 5: was to just strike them out, and the value putting
- 4:59Speaker 5: the ball in plays. That's something and you think as
- 5:00Speaker 5: a team, you guys are going to implement moving forward.
- 5:03Speaker 5: And on that same note, you did bring in two
- 5:05Speaker 5: new hitting coaches last year. Was there any adjustments that
- 5:09Speaker 5: they brought to you or was it just a matter
- 5:11Speaker 5: of time for you to have their breakout year.
- 5:14Speaker 4: Yeah, I think, uh, you know, to that first point,
- 5:16Speaker 4: I think it's it's very important hitting with two strikes
- 5:19Speaker 4: in this game, especially with with the way pitchers are now,
- 5:21Speaker 4: they're just you know, they have great stuff and stuff
- 5:24Speaker 4: is at all time time high. You know, not saying
- 5:27Speaker 4: pitching itself is, but uh, you know, the stuff out
- 5:30Speaker 4: there that's that's being thrown is really really good. So,
- 5:33Speaker 4: you know, just being able to put the ball in play,
- 5:35Speaker 4: being able to do those little things, not not not
- 5:37Speaker 4: giving the other team easy out. So you want to
- 5:38Speaker 4: make you know, all twenty seven outs. You want to
- 5:40Speaker 4: make them work for it, make them field the ball,
- 5:42Speaker 4: make them make the plays, do things like that. So
- 5:45Speaker 4: I think we took it definitely a huge step in
- 5:47Speaker 4: the right direction last year, adding you know, obviously those
- 5:50Speaker 4: two hitting coaches and and Edgar taking over at the Helm.
- 5:53Speaker 4: So obviously adding Naylor and Donovan, guys that are you know,
- 5:57Speaker 4: that grind that bats out that you know, find a
- 6:00Speaker 4: way to get those broken bat singles to use the
- 6:03Speaker 4: whole field. It helps extend our lineup. And I think
- 6:06Speaker 4: that's that's kind of what we were missing in a way.
- 6:08Speaker 4: You know, we had a lot of had a lot
- 6:09Speaker 4: of thump, we had a lot of you know, power,
- 6:12Speaker 4: and but we also had you know a little bit
- 6:13Speaker 4: of swing and miss in the game. And and to
- 6:16Speaker 4: kind of compliment that out, adding those guys definitely help.
- 6:18Speaker 6: So all right, we got the Warby Parkers. I got
- 6:24Speaker 6: the Raiders, but one thing that upgraded to polarized, sorry
- 6:29Speaker 6: about it.
- 6:30Speaker 7: Yeah, these are good not only for wearing, but also
- 6:33Speaker 7: out in the sun. When I become that baseball coach
- 6:35Speaker 7: I always want to be with my kids. I got
- 6:37Speaker 7: the Hatchers. They're darker, a little bit wider for my face.
- 6:40Speaker 7: They fit perfect, They're comfortable. It's an easy process to
- 6:44Speaker 7: order these really really cool glasses.
- 6:46Speaker 8: I am a die hard Warby Parker fan. I do
- 6:49Speaker 8: have prescription glasses and I wear Warby Parker every day
- 6:53Speaker 8: for many years. I'm excited about this one. Give it
- 6:55Speaker 8: a shot. Warby Parker gives you quality and better looking
- 6:58Speaker 8: prescription I wear at a fraction of the going price.

- 7:18Speaker 8: support our show and tell them foul Territory sent you.
- 7:21Speaker 9: Cal Logan. Gilbert was on just a little bit ago,
- 7:24Speaker 9: and he says that sometimes he likes when you come
- 7:26Speaker 9: up to him on the mound and give him a
- 7:27Speaker 9: little bit of attitude. And he also said that you
- 7:30Speaker 9: said sometimes you know you should joke with him. How
- 7:33Speaker 9: do you get the most out of your staff and
- 7:36Speaker 9: you're kind of a steward of their career as well,
- 7:38Speaker 9: a lot of different personalities to manage. How do you
- 7:41Speaker 9: find you get the most out of each guy?
- 7:44Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean these guys different.
- 7:45Speaker 4: I mean, I'm sure AJ could probably attest to that
- 7:49Speaker 4: you as a catcher, you're more so, you know, playing
- 7:55Speaker 4: I guess they're kind of Yeah, you're playing psychiatrists in
- 8:02Speaker 4: a way. You're you know, you're helping them, You're you're
- 8:04Speaker 4: talking to them, and you know it's uh. I always
- 8:07Speaker 4: kind of like to explain that you know each guy's difference. It's,
- 8:09Speaker 4: you know, some guys you pat on the butt, some
- 8:11Speaker 4: guys you know you have to kick him in the butt,
- 8:13Speaker 4: and some guys you just leave them alone.
- 8:15Speaker 3: And and uh.
- 8:16Speaker 4: Those are kind of the three categories that people fall into.
- 8:19Speaker 4: And and just knowing you know each guy, you know,
- 8:22Speaker 4: hopefully we're getting thirty starts out of our five, and
- 8:25Speaker 4: you know there's gonna be ten starts, so they're really good.
- 8:27Speaker 4: They don't need anything. There's gonna be ten starts. They're
- 8:29Speaker 4: just okay, And there's gonna be ten starts with they're bad.
- 8:32Speaker 4: It's gonna be more so in those twenty okay and
- 8:34Speaker 4: and bad starts. What can we get out of them?
- 8:35Speaker 4: And how can we get them through those innings? And
- 8:39Speaker 4: that's kind of how I look at it.
- 8:40Speaker 2: I asked, I asked Logan, exactly what you said? I said,
- 8:42Speaker 2: Is he a joker? Like you come out? Do you
- 8:44Speaker 2: have Cal come out to you a joke? Do you
- 8:46Speaker 2: have col come out and yell at you, or do
- 8:47Speaker 2: you have Col come out and coddle you and say
- 8:49Speaker 2: it's okay, buddy, You'll get through this. And he actually
- 8:51Speaker 2: said that he wants you to yell at them. So
- 8:53Speaker 2: next time you go to the mound, just let him
- 8:55Speaker 2: have it.
- 8:55Speaker 3: I mean, if whatever he wants pictures, it's always whatever
- 8:59Speaker 3: they want.
- 8:59Speaker 2: Exactly whatever they want to do. And I then I
- 9:02Speaker 2: asked him.
- 9:02Speaker 1: I said, one of the most incredible stats I've ever
- 9:04Speaker 1: seen is that you went the entire year was zero
- 9:07Speaker 1: pass balls, which is is mind boggling to me. Is
- 9:11Speaker 1: as much as you play, and the guys with the
- 9:12Speaker 1: stuff that they have, and as good as you.
- 9:14Speaker 2: Are framing and moving the ball.
- 9:16Speaker 1: And so I asked Logan, I said, can you take
- 9:19Speaker 1: credit for the one you had in the playoffs on
- 9:21Speaker 1: the split that was like and He's like, oh, you know,
- 9:25Speaker 1: Cow's got to be better.
- 9:25Speaker 2: And I'm like, are you kidding me?
- 9:27Speaker 4: I know what one one mistake and get I get
- 9:30Speaker 4: crucified for it. So yeah, I mean I want to
- 9:34Speaker 4: go on record too. I want to, you know, get
- 9:36Speaker 4: the let the world know that Logan Gilbert is not
- 9:38Speaker 4: those splitter it's a fork ball, okay, and that thing
- 9:41Speaker 4: is a complete like yes, it's a beast of a pitch,
- 9:43Speaker 4: you know. I mean it's a it's a massive weapon,
- 9:46Speaker 4: and there's a really tough pitch. You know, you probably
- 9:49Speaker 4: had guys like that you're pushing one that was like
- 9:53Speaker 4: this exactly. Yeah, it's a knuckleball, yeah exactly, And you
- 9:55Speaker 4: know it does some different at times. You're really just
- 9:57Speaker 4: trying to tackle it more so than like, I'm not
- 10:00Speaker 4: trying to keep it a strike.
- 10:00Speaker 3: I'm not trying to move it. I'm trying to just
- 10:02Speaker 3: catch the ball.
- 10:03Speaker 2: So he said he enjoys getting throwing him in the
- 10:05Speaker 2: dirt to you too and watching.
- 10:07Speaker 3: Yeah, he's basically throwing long darts out there for much
- 10:11Speaker 3: half the time.
- 10:12Speaker 5: So he Yeah, so eachro behind you a couple of
- 10:15Speaker 5: minutes ago. You know, having him around, is there anything
- 10:18Speaker 5: you've been able to kind of take from him? Just
- 10:20Speaker 5: seeing him out there every day, the conversations you have
- 10:23Speaker 5: with him.
- 10:24Speaker 4: Yeah, he's great. You know, he's uh, he's an absolute
- 10:27Speaker 4: work workhorse. I got to actually, I was up in
- 10:32Speaker 4: Seattle a little bit of this off season. I was
- 10:33Speaker 4: training at the field and and the guy's going in
- 10:35Speaker 4: every day, so I got to you know, we were
- 10:37Speaker 4: long tossing, working out hitting together. So it was it
- 10:41Speaker 4: was a lot of fun. We uh New Year's we
- 10:43Speaker 4: were out there throwing and and uh. It definitely helps
- 10:47Speaker 4: that you know, he's in such great shape, you know,
- 10:48Speaker 4: having somebody there to to work out with and uh
- 10:51Speaker 4: do all that stuff. And he's just a great, great
- 10:53Speaker 4: guy to have around. You can ask him questions. He's
- 10:55Speaker 4: an open book. He's obviously one of the best hitters
- 10:57Speaker 4: of all time. So you know, some things maybe uh
- 11:00Speaker 4: you know, only he can do. But you know, it's
- 11:03Speaker 4: always great talking to Ichy cal.
- 11:06Speaker 9: Do you try to save a pitch for your guys
- 11:08Speaker 9: until the second time through the order or you are
- 11:11Speaker 9: attacking with whatever they have in their arsenal from the
- 11:14Speaker 9: first batter of the game.
- 11:17Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean it's a fine it's a fine line, right,
- 11:19Speaker 4: I mean that's actually a good question. I mean it's
- 11:23Speaker 4: a it's a fine line. You know, you want to
- 11:25Speaker 4: you want to use their bread and butter, but you
- 11:27Speaker 4: also understand. I think it's understanding hitters, right, you know,
- 11:30Speaker 4: understanding Uh, you know what kind of hitter you have.
- 11:33Speaker 10: In the boxes?
- 11:34Speaker 4: That hitter a smart smart guy in the sense of
- 11:36Speaker 4: is you know, if you get him out one way,
- 11:38Speaker 4: you gotta get him out another way next time, and
- 11:40Speaker 4: you know, obviously not trying to not do the same
- 11:42Speaker 4: patterns over and over and trying to keep them on
- 11:45Speaker 4: their toes because you don't want to fall into fall
- 11:47Speaker 4: into rhythms and uh, you know, the same kind of
- 11:50Speaker 4: sequences as well. So it's it's a fine line. You know,
- 11:54Speaker 4: also understanding what the guy's got that day. If he's
- 11:55Speaker 4: got something working and it's going good early, you know,
- 11:58Speaker 4: let's let's hammer that whole uh until uh, until somebody
- 12:02Speaker 4: proves that they can hit it. So also just it's
- 12:05Speaker 4: pitched dependent, you know, a lot of sometimes we got
- 12:07Speaker 4: some East West guys, we got some North South guys,
- 12:09Speaker 4: and uh sometimes it's uh, just just a constant mix
- 12:13Speaker 4: and just continuing to talk to them throughout the game
- 12:16Speaker 4: and you know, what are that what are we seeing?
- 12:18Speaker 4: I think that's the big thing is you know, you
- 12:20Speaker 4: just gotta use to use your eyes. You got to
- 12:22Speaker 4: watch the game. I think you can't just be so
- 12:25Speaker 4: stuck to a to a plan or a scouting report.
- 12:28Speaker 4: You gotta you gotta make sure you're what you're what
- 12:31Speaker 4: you're seeing is adding up and that you guys talk
- 12:33Speaker 4: and communicate throughout the game because ultimately, you know, that's
- 12:35Speaker 4: the biggest test is the eye test.
- 12:37Speaker 1: So you know all that, and then you still have
- 12:38Speaker 1: to go out there and hit you hit sixty homers.
- 12:40Speaker 1: So people don't understand how hard it is to be
- 12:43Speaker 1: a catcher because it's not just about what they see.
- 12:45Speaker 1: It's all the little conversations like you're talking about scouting reports,
- 12:48Speaker 1: doing this, doing that. Before we let you go, I
- 12:50Speaker 1: gotta ask you about WBC. Yeah, you're on the WBC
- 12:53Speaker 1: or the USA team USA, which obviously we're all rooting
- 12:57Speaker 1: for you, like to win the USA. What's it gonna
- 12:59Speaker 1: be like for you to have to leave camp here
- 13:01Speaker 1: for a few weeks and and go away.
- 13:04Speaker 3: Well, I'm I'm super excited obviously.
- 13:07Speaker 4: I mean, you know all the you know, getting to
- 13:10Speaker 4: wear the USA across your chest and represent your country.
- 13:13Speaker 4: You get to do this, get to be in that
- 13:15Speaker 4: locker room with so many great players. I mean, it's
- 13:17Speaker 4: gonna be crazy just looking around the corner and seeing
- 13:20Speaker 4: the best players in.
- 13:21Speaker 3: The world and just in the same locker room as
- 13:23Speaker 3: It's crazy.
- 13:24Speaker 4: I never got a chance to do this, Like I
- 13:26Speaker 4: never got invited to temsa stuff growing up high school nothing,
- 13:29Speaker 4: So this is a great opportunity.
- 13:31Speaker 3: And and you know, I mean it's I.
- 13:35Speaker 4: Think camp can kind of get along sometimes, and you
- 13:37Speaker 4: guys can probably attest to that as well. I can
- 13:40Speaker 4: kind of get monotonous and Madane, and uh, it's I'm
- 13:44Speaker 4: excited to to get outside and learn some things and
- 13:47Speaker 4: talk to some guys and and just step away and
- 13:49Speaker 4: it's gonna be fun playing fun real baseball.
- 13:52Speaker 2: Okay.
- 13:52Speaker 1: And then last thing, is it true that because you
- 13:54Speaker 1: caught Matthew Boyd's bullpens that you got him invited to
- 13:58Speaker 1: Team USA.
- 14:00Speaker 3: I can't take credit. I can't he.
- 14:03Speaker 2: The fact that you catch bullpens in the off season.
- 14:06Speaker 2: It also is mind boggling to me.
- 14:07Speaker 1: No, not many, but Matthew Matthew boy came on here
- 14:11Speaker 1: and said that you catch his bullpens.
- 14:13Speaker 4: Yeah. Well he's a Seattle guy and he was with
- 14:16Speaker 4: us for a short stent there in twenty two, so
- 14:20Speaker 4: you know, he's, uh, he's a very good pitcher, very smart.
- 14:23Speaker 3: You know, he knows what he's doing. He knows how
- 14:25Speaker 3: to pitch.
- 14:25Speaker 4: You know, he can locate, he can move the ball around,
- 14:27Speaker 4: he can he can attack you different ways.
- 14:29Speaker 1: So yeah, but here's the thing. I don't care if
- 14:31Speaker 1: there who was pitching in Orlando, if they pitched me
- 14:33Speaker 1: or not. If they call me and say, hey, we
- 14:36Speaker 1: in the off season, will you come catch my I'm like, no, man,
- 14:38Speaker 1: I'll pay someone to do.
- 14:39Speaker 2: It, but I'm not doing that.
- 14:40Speaker 3: I'll sit on the bucket for you.
- 14:42Speaker 2: There you go, exactly.
- 14:43Speaker 3: Yeah, he he's he's a good guys. He got another
- 14:48Speaker 3: good guys.
- 14:48Speaker 2: Right, Yeah, he's a really good guy. I appreciate it. Well, Cal,
- 14:52Speaker 2: thank you very much. We appreciate it.
- 14:53Speaker 3: Yeah. Thanks.
- 14:54Speaker 1: I hope you guys win the World Baseball Classic and
- 14:57Speaker 1: now your might pick to win the American League, so
- 15:00Speaker 1: a lot of pressure now, thank you appreciate it.
- 15:03Speaker 3: Thanks for having me on.
- 15:03Speaker 9: Guys, if you are just joining us, we are at
- 15:12Speaker 9: Marrier's camp and it is time to talk about the
- 15:14Speaker 9: season preview for Seattle. Here on foul Territory, Alana Rizzo,
- 15:19Speaker 9: n Plar and AJ Pierzinski. Let's look at the key
- 15:22Speaker 9: additions and subtractions. We've already talked to a lot of
- 15:26Speaker 9: these guys today, but this is a good club.
- 15:27Speaker 3: Guys.
- 15:28Speaker 9: Additions Brendan Donovan, Josh Naylor. I love that because of Tucker,
- 15:31Speaker 9: the Pup, Jose Ferrer, Andrew Kinzer and the losses. These
- 15:36Speaker 9: are some significant ones. Apenno Suarez of course, who went
- 15:39Speaker 9: back to the Reds, Belonco, Harry Ford, Caleb Ferguson, Gregory
- 15:43Speaker 9: Santos and Jerangelo. How do you say that? I don't know, Kevin,
- 15:48Speaker 9: you want to try to say that for me?
- 15:50Speaker 2: Nope?
- 15:51Speaker 1: Okay, all right, since since he's a switch pitcher, he
- 15:58Speaker 1: does with both hands alona hands. Yeah, he does like
- 16:03Speaker 1: ninety eight right handed, ninety two lefty. The Mariner is
- 16:05Speaker 1: only going to make him a righty. So we'll see
- 16:07Speaker 1: what the Nats do with them.
- 16:09Speaker 3: All right.
- 16:11Speaker 9: Before the season actually begins. So this is a very
- 16:14Speaker 9: good team you guys in the in the AL West.
- 16:17Speaker 9: I'll ask for your prediction, KP. Where did the Mariners
- 16:19Speaker 9: finish in the division first?
- 16:22Speaker 5: Without a doubt? I mean, I think we can make
- 16:24Speaker 5: an argument that this might be the best team in
- 16:26Speaker 5: the American League. I think you know, they took you know,
- 16:29Speaker 5: the AL least and American League champion Toronto Blue Jays
- 16:34Speaker 5: to Game seven. And you know we talked about the
- 16:36Speaker 5: Blue Jays losing in the World Series being four outs away.
- 16:39Speaker 5: I mean, the Mariners were right there. They were a
- 16:41Speaker 5: couple outs away, a couple of strikes away from getting
- 16:45Speaker 5: a chance to go to the World Series, and they
- 16:46Speaker 5: didn't even have a fully healthy rotation in that playoff series.
- 16:50Speaker 5: If you keep these five guys healthy, and you know,
- 16:53Speaker 5: they have a sixth and seventh guy that unfortunately may
- 16:56Speaker 5: have to be pushed in the bullpen or start in
- 16:58Speaker 5: triple A. But I love what they did this offseason.
- 17:01Speaker 5: We see some of the guys that they lost, and
- 17:03Speaker 5: I think they did a great job of going out
- 17:05Speaker 5: and filling those holes at certain positions that where they
- 17:08Speaker 5: lost guys. Bringing Josh Naylor back was huge for this team.
- 17:11Speaker 5: He was incredible for them after the trade deadline. Not
- 17:15Speaker 5: only his ability to play first base and the clutch
- 17:18Speaker 5: hitting and you know his newfound ability to steal bases,
- 17:21Speaker 5: but he just brings such an edge to that team
- 17:24Speaker 5: and I think you ask anyone in that clubhouse, they
- 17:26Speaker 5: were so happy to have him back. Josh Naylor is
- 17:28Speaker 5: just a unique guy that every team needs one of
- 17:31Speaker 5: those guys because he just holds everyone to a different
- 17:34Speaker 5: standard in terms of his intensity and you know what
- 17:36Speaker 5: he brings every day. And bringing a guy in like
- 17:38Speaker 5: Brandon Donovan, who I still think his best baseball still
- 17:42Speaker 5: yet to come, and him to be able to kind
- 17:44Speaker 5: of slide over play third base, potentially fill a hole
- 17:47Speaker 5: in second base, play some corner outfield, and then they
- 17:50Speaker 5: got a young kid that they truly believe in that
- 17:52Speaker 5: could play second base. So you know, I think they
- 17:54Speaker 5: have the team to be able to run it back.
- 17:57Speaker 9: You're not the only one that thinks that. Fan grafts
- 17:59Speaker 9: according to them. As far as division standings, they have
- 18:01Speaker 9: the Mariners at eighty eight point one, and the Rangers
- 18:05Speaker 9: and the Shrows, Athletics and the Angels. If you look
- 18:08Speaker 9: aj at the playoff projections for the Seattle Mariners, they
- 18:12Speaker 9: have a sixty one point three percent chance of winning
- 18:15Speaker 9: the division. They clinch it bye by forty four point
- 18:17Speaker 9: eight percent, they clinch a wild card by just under
- 18:20Speaker 9: nineteen percent, and they make the playoffs. It's a pretty
- 18:24Speaker 9: good percentage in terms of going back to the postseason
- 18:27Speaker 9: at eighty point one percent. Do you are you in
- 18:30Speaker 9: accordance with KP that they win this division.
- 18:34Speaker 1: I think they win the division by the way, and
- 18:36Speaker 1: I think they win it easily, and I think they
- 18:38Speaker 1: I'm going to I'm going to make a bold prediction
- 18:40Speaker 1: right now. I think they go to their first World
- 18:42Speaker 1: Series ever for the Seattle Mariners.
- 18:44Speaker 9: Is that right? Is that because Calson right next to you, we.
- 18:47Speaker 2: Can you can't.
- 18:47Speaker 1: I don't e think'll can hear me right now, But
- 18:49Speaker 1: I'm just saying that. I think they go to the
- 18:50Speaker 1: World Series for the first time. I think they have
- 18:52Speaker 1: the team. I think the ownership will make the Ray moves.
- 18:55Speaker 1: I think they have the pitching, and they were they
- 18:57Speaker 1: were close last year, and I think this is the
- 18:58Speaker 1: year where they finally get it done.
- 19:01Speaker 9: What pushes them over the edge.
- 19:04Speaker 1: I think that I think that the Donovan move I
- 19:06Speaker 1: really like. I think they're starting pitching, will stay healthy
- 19:09Speaker 1: their bullpen, and you know what the biggest thing for
- 19:11Speaker 1: me is they've been there and they've done it now
- 19:13Speaker 1: and they've tasted that success, and I think this year
- 19:16Speaker 1: is the year they finally get to the World Series.
- 19:19Speaker 9: You said that they're winning the division. Uh, what do
- 19:22Speaker 9: you like about this team or what are some challenges
- 19:25Speaker 9: do you think that they that they need to shore
- 19:26Speaker 9: up to get to where they want to be?
- 19:29Speaker 5: Well, there's obviously something that happens to hitters, you know,
- 19:33Speaker 5: when they go to Seattle. It's a difficult place to hit,
- 19:35Speaker 5: so can Brandon Donovan be the kind of same quality
- 19:38Speaker 5: hitter he had been somewhere else. But really, for me,
- 19:42Speaker 5: it's just health, you know, the health that they're starting pitching,
- 19:44Speaker 5: because for as difficult that it as it is to
- 19:48Speaker 5: potentially hit, and for whatever reason, Cal was able to
- 19:51Speaker 5: make that stadium look small. They don't have to score
- 19:55Speaker 5: that many runs. They just got to play good defense
- 19:57Speaker 5: and trust. And we haven't even gotten to their bullpen.
- 19:59Speaker 5: Their bull is disgusting and they only got better by
- 20:02Speaker 5: bringing over Ferreira from the Nationals. He is a nightmare
- 20:06Speaker 5: to face. Gabe Spier now has a running mate with
- 20:09Speaker 5: another left handed guy in the bullpen, you know, arguably
- 20:13Speaker 5: the best closer in baseball. They have all the ingredients there.
- 20:16Speaker 5: And to AJ's point, they've now been there, they've experienced it.
- 20:20Speaker 5: They were so close, and these guys got a chip
- 20:22Speaker 5: on the shoulder, they're hungry, they've experienced it. I just
- 20:25Speaker 5: know from firsthand experience being so close, what those conversations
- 20:29Speaker 5: were like with my teammates in the offseason and just
- 20:32Speaker 5: trying to get a little bit better and motivating each
- 20:34Speaker 5: other and potentially even getting down to spring training a
- 20:38Speaker 5: little bit earlier because you're just so excited to be
- 20:40Speaker 5: with that group of guys again. And I think the
- 20:42Speaker 5: Mariners have all the ingredients to get back there and
- 20:45Speaker 5: potentially over the hump.
- 20:46Speaker 2: Mitch Garver lead addition here to Mariners camp rocking the
- 20:52Speaker 2: seventy seven on the jersey, are you going to be
- 20:55Speaker 2: a new pulling guard for the Mariners?
- 20:57Speaker 11: It's actually a testament to Luke Jackson. Oh there you go,
- 21:00Speaker 11: good teammate ours we had last year. We had a
- 21:02Speaker 11: blast with him. U seventy No, I was last guy
- 21:04Speaker 11: in camp. Honestly, the club has told me when I
- 21:06Speaker 11: came in, there's either zero or seventy seven.
- 21:08Speaker 2: Dude, go zero.
- 21:10Speaker 11: No.
- 21:10Speaker 2: I didn't want the you don't want to be a zero.
- 21:12Speaker 11: I didn't want the zero zero jokes coming with that,
- 21:14Speaker 11: So I picked seventy seven.
- 21:16Speaker 1: If you make the team, are you gonna switch yes
- 21:18Speaker 1: back to eighteen?
- 21:19Speaker 10: Yes? Yeah. You and I just talked about this.
- 21:21Speaker 2: Well, yeah, but the people don't This is what people
- 21:24Speaker 2: don't know that we've play.
- 21:25Speaker 11: I said, listen, I'm gonna talk to Cooper Chriswell, I'm
- 21:29Speaker 11: gonna say listen, it's not my choice.
- 21:30Speaker 10: It's my wife's choice.
- 21:31Speaker 11: I need Humber eighteen back because she has all the
- 21:33Speaker 11: stuff with the eighteen on the sleeve and the jackets
- 21:36Speaker 11: and the all the playoff stuff.
- 21:38Speaker 10: She's got it all.
- 21:38Speaker 2: So I said, what's going to costume?
- 21:42Speaker 10: I don't know yet.
- 21:43Speaker 11: We haven't we haven't even talked about that, and I
- 21:45Speaker 11: haven't really thought about it. Just trying to get in
- 21:48Speaker 11: here and get ready for the season.
- 21:50Speaker 1: Were you you're such It surprised me that you were
- 21:52Speaker 1: such a late signing. Was that Were you thinking about retiring?
- 21:55Speaker 1: Was there no offers out there?
- 21:57Speaker 2: Why was it? Why did it take you? I mean something,
- 21:58Speaker 2: You're an established major league player at an important position
- 22:03Speaker 2: that can hit bombs.
- 22:04Speaker 10: There was you know, there was never any conversation about retirement.
- 22:08Speaker 10: I was.
- 22:09Speaker 11: I feel more prepared now to play than I have
- 22:10Speaker 11: in years. Physically, mentally, I'm ready to go. It was
- 22:14Speaker 11: just a strange off season.
- 22:16Speaker 2: It was quiet.
- 22:17Speaker 10: There's still players out there that.
- 22:19Speaker 11: Are really, really good major league players, and there's no offers,
- 22:23Speaker 11: there's no talk about signing, you know, any kind of deal.
- 22:27Speaker 11: So I was fortunate to have Cal reach out to me.
- 22:31Speaker 11: He said, hey, just give them Mariners call to see
- 22:33Speaker 11: what happens. So we did that and within twenty four
- 22:35Speaker 11: hours we had it worked out.
- 22:37Speaker 10: So here I am.
- 22:39Speaker 5: Yeah, I feel like someone who's been in that situation
- 22:41Speaker 5: many times over the last you know, four years of
- 22:44Speaker 5: my career. It's kind of crazy how when you just
- 22:47Speaker 5: have a relationship with a team or a front office,
- 22:49Speaker 5: you can just pick up the phone and call. And
- 22:52Speaker 5: I feel like there's just kind of an issue with
- 22:54Speaker 5: transparency sometimes between agents in front offices. So good for
- 22:58Speaker 5: you for picking up the phone. I feel like that's
- 23:00Speaker 5: how I got my last job in baseball too. I
- 23:02Speaker 5: just picked up the phone and they're like, oh, you'd
- 23:03Speaker 5: come out to camp, and I'm like, yeah, you know
- 23:05Speaker 5: you you could have called me all You could have
- 23:07Speaker 5: called me all off season. So good for you for
- 23:10Speaker 5: doing that. My question to you is being with cal
- 23:14Speaker 5: the last two years, you know, what have you seen
- 23:16Speaker 5: from him in terms of how he's he's changed and
- 23:19Speaker 5: turned himself into this superstar player.
- 23:23Speaker 3: Uh?
- 23:23Speaker 10: You know, I would say not much has changed.
- 23:26Speaker 11: And that's the special thing about him is he's he's
- 23:28Speaker 11: been probably the most consistent guy I've I've been around
- 23:32Speaker 11: talents there. Obviously, he's a great person, great great human
- 23:37Speaker 11: just his ability to make a game adjustments and he
- 23:40Speaker 11: adjusts really quickly. You know, when he feels something's off,
- 23:42Speaker 11: he's he's able to adjust.
- 23:45Speaker 10: More so.
- 23:45Speaker 11: Impressed with his durability behind the plate, uh, super durable player.
- 23:49Speaker 11: He gets back there. He catches every day, which you know,
- 23:53Speaker 11: you know, it's it's hard to do. Yeah, and you
- 23:55Speaker 11: did it for many years, but it's it's something that
- 23:57Speaker 11: takes a lot of time to learn how to do
- 23:59Speaker 11: and be able to just game plans, adust strategy, go
- 24:03Speaker 11: from series to series, whether you're having success or not,
- 24:06Speaker 11: and continue to get back there and give your best.
- 24:08Speaker 2: What you caught.
- 24:09Speaker 1: You came up as a catcher and then you kind
- 24:11Speaker 1: of went away from catching and just became a DH
- 24:13Speaker 1: Was that hard?
- 24:14Speaker 10: It was very hard. It was very hard.
- 24:16Speaker 11: And the reason it started was in twenty three when
- 24:18Speaker 11: I was with Texas. We couldn't find anybody that really
- 24:20Speaker 11: had success in that DH spot, so I slotted in there.
- 24:23Speaker 11: I had a knee injury earlier in the year I
- 24:25Speaker 11: slotted into the DH spot, had won a ring by
- 24:27Speaker 11: the way, I want a ring, that part of it.
- 24:29Speaker 11: Bank had a little success on the second half of
- 24:32Speaker 11: that year and and just you know, from that point on,
- 24:35Speaker 11: I was dhent, but I really missed it. In twenty four,
- 24:37Speaker 11: I really missed it. Came back to catching, and you know,
- 24:41Speaker 11: catching this staff here in Seattle has been awesome. I
- 24:43Speaker 11: love working with these guys. They're super talented, We're deep
- 24:46Speaker 11: and pitching. It really is a lab and we continue
- 24:49Speaker 11: to pump out quality starters, quality arms every year.
- 24:53Speaker 5: Yeah. I wanted to follow up on that too, you know,
- 24:55Speaker 5: talking about you went in a World Series in Texas
- 24:57Speaker 5: and then being so close and getting the World Series
- 24:59Speaker 5: last you talk about the kind of similarities between that
- 25:02Speaker 5: team and you know, two thousand and twenty three and
- 25:05Speaker 5: the team you were on last year, and probably a
- 25:08Speaker 5: big reason you wanted to come back.
- 25:10Speaker 11: Yeah, it's it starts in the clubhouse. It's it's a
- 25:13Speaker 11: tight group of players. Everybody's so talented, and there's talent
- 25:17Speaker 11: all the way across the league. But it all kind
- 25:19Speaker 11: of determines, you know, what the clubhouse is like, what
- 25:22Speaker 11: are the vibes in the clubhouse. Can guys show up
- 25:25Speaker 11: to work every day and be excited, and that's that's
- 25:28Speaker 11: a big thing. Sometimes it's hard to go to the
- 25:30Speaker 11: park every day you're like, man, I don't want to
- 25:31Speaker 11: do it. But when you have a group that's this tight,
- 25:34Speaker 11: you show up every day. Everybody wants to pull for
- 25:36Speaker 11: each other, and everybody wants to play, whether you're in
- 25:37Speaker 11: the lineup or not.
- 25:39Speaker 1: When you went back to catching, was it twenty four
- 25:41Speaker 1: you went back. I remember, yeah, Service was still the
- 25:44Speaker 1: manager here and I had a conversation when I had
- 25:46Speaker 1: a Mariners game and Cal was Cal had caught like
- 25:50Speaker 1: I don't know how many games a run.
- 25:51Speaker 2: They didn't really have anyone. You were the only catcher,
- 25:54Speaker 2: and he said, we're gonna let Mitch get back there again.
- 25:57Speaker 2: Was that awesome for you to get back?
- 25:59Speaker 1: And they like phased you in like it was spring training, right, Oh,
- 26:02Speaker 1: you can only catch five innings, Hey, you can only
- 26:05Speaker 1: catch five innings before you and then it was like
- 26:08Speaker 1: six innings and then seven innings.
- 26:10Speaker 10: Yeah, it was uh yeah, it was in early part
- 26:13Speaker 10: of the year. I went back there.
- 26:15Speaker 11: In my first game, I caught George against Houston at home,
- 26:18Speaker 11: and George had a great game.
- 26:20Speaker 2: He pitched really well.
- 26:20Speaker 11: But I came out when George came out, so he
- 26:22Speaker 11: I think he went six innings and I came out
- 26:24Speaker 11: with him and uh. You know, in the next game,
- 26:27Speaker 11: I was supposed to go like seven or eight something
- 26:29Speaker 11: like that, and we ended up playing extra innings in
- 26:31Speaker 11: Kansas City.
- 26:32Speaker 10: So I caught like eleven.
- 26:33Speaker 2: Oh nice.
- 26:33Speaker 10: Yeah, so I just got thrown right back in there,
- 26:35Speaker 10: no problem.
- 26:36Speaker 11: And uh, well, you know, cal catch was five six
- 26:39Speaker 11: days a week, so I had enough time to run.
- 26:41Speaker 2: It was the first foul ball, like I hadn't had
- 26:42Speaker 2: it for a while.
- 26:43Speaker 10: You know, I don't remember. I don't remember.
- 26:46Speaker 1: Did your teammates give you like a standing ovation when
- 26:48Speaker 1: you came out with George?
- 26:50Speaker 11: No, No, it's uh, it was business as usual, okay.
- 26:54Speaker 11: You know I think I was. I was super proud
- 26:57Speaker 11: that I was able to get back there and catch them.
- 26:58Speaker 11: And it was hard because I'm working with a new staf.
- 27:00Speaker 11: It was brand new to me. I didn't really catch
- 27:02Speaker 11: anybody like that, so it was nice.
- 27:04Speaker 2: Though they gave you George, they didn't give you Logan
- 27:06Speaker 2: throwing splitters or fifty two foot splitters. You know.
- 27:10Speaker 11: They all got to do is put up my glove
- 27:12Speaker 11: like this, Georgia, you any knuckleballs, he always throws one
- 27:16Speaker 11: in the bullpen, but.
- 27:17Speaker 2: He didn't throw any any gain, not that night. That's awesome.
- 27:21Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm looking on paper right now. If all five
- 27:23Speaker 5: of those guys are healthy, I mean, is this It's
- 27:26Speaker 5: obviously the best pitching staff in baseball. I've never seen
- 27:29Speaker 5: anything like it, you know, being in that division in
- 27:32Speaker 5: twenty three. Luckily I was right handed, so I didn't
- 27:35Speaker 5: have to face these guys. But what a nightmare for
- 27:37Speaker 5: for hitters. When all the five of those guys are healthy.
- 27:41Speaker 10: It's it's a lot of different looks. You know.
- 27:45Speaker 11: We we in Seattle have prided ourselves on being able
- 27:49Speaker 11: to throw strikes, get ahead of guys, attack the zone
- 27:53Speaker 11: with all of our best stuff, and they all do
- 27:55Speaker 11: it really well.
- 27:56Speaker 10: And it's not just all five of them. I mean,
- 27:58Speaker 10: there's more behind him.
- 27:59Speaker 11: We got Emerson Hancock, who was big for us last year,
- 28:02Speaker 11: stepped up when we had a bunch of injuries. They
- 28:04Speaker 11: got a couple of young kids coming up that are
- 28:06Speaker 11: have some really really big stuff. You know, we're talking
- 28:09Speaker 11: about Kate Anderson and Sloan We're talking about guys that
- 28:12Speaker 11: have upper nineties fastballs and not just one fastball, but
- 28:15Speaker 11: two or three, which is so unique and it's very
- 28:19Speaker 11: hard to replicate.
- 28:20Speaker 2: But there's a lot of talent in this organization. Do
- 28:22Speaker 2: you think they're gonna bounce back? Because everyone talks about
- 28:25Speaker 2: long playoff run hangover, especially your bullpen Munos and in
- 28:30Speaker 2: Brabrash and Spire and all those guys. I mean, they
- 28:33Speaker 2: threw a lot of innings and a lot of innings
- 28:34Speaker 2: deep into the year for longer than they ever had.
- 28:37Speaker 2: Do you think they're gonna be fine right coming back?
- 28:39Speaker 10: Yeah, they're gonna be fine.
- 28:40Speaker 11: And they have the WBC, So I look at it
- 28:42Speaker 11: as kind of a way to kickstart the season, not
- 28:44Speaker 11: as much as a as a negative, more so as
- 28:47Speaker 11: a positive. They get to play in that competitive environment
- 28:49Speaker 11: earlier earlier in the season, got a few additions as well.
- 28:54Speaker 11: Obviously got fer air over from Nationals and that track.
- 28:57Speaker 11: He's he's nasty. He's got the upper nineties sinker, big
- 29:02Speaker 11: leftended arms, so that'll help Gabe out a little bit,
- 29:03Speaker 11: take take a little bit of leverage off them.
- 29:06Speaker 10: And there's just more arms. There's more arms.
- 29:08Speaker 11: I haven't got to catch everybody in spring yet, but
- 29:11Speaker 11: there's always going to be more.
- 29:12Speaker 1: You love WBC, though, You're going to get a lot
- 29:14Speaker 1: of a batch with cal going right. Yeah, I mean
- 29:17Speaker 1: as much as sometimes as you're like, oh, the picture's
- 29:19Speaker 1: got to go pitch for you trying to win a job.
- 29:21Speaker 1: Him going to the WBC is an opportunity for you
- 29:24Speaker 1: to get back there, learn the new guys, and get
- 29:26Speaker 1: a beast to show yourself up.
- 29:27Speaker 11: Absolutely, I'll get a lot of playing time. And not
- 29:30Speaker 11: only that, I mean I love watching WBC as a fan.
- 29:32Speaker 11: I think it's a great event. I'm excited to watch
- 29:35Speaker 11: my teammates compete, go out there and play meaningful games
- 29:38Speaker 11: and February and March and it'll be fun to watch.
- 29:43Speaker 5: When you when you decide to come back to Seattle,
- 29:46Speaker 5: is there a conversation with the front office if Mitch
- 29:48Speaker 5: Garver does X in spring training, he's going to make
- 29:51Speaker 5: the team, or you just kind of know what you
- 29:53Speaker 5: have to do to make the team.
- 29:55Speaker 11: I know what I have to do, and you know,
- 29:57Speaker 11: nothing's going to be given to me. I got to
- 29:58Speaker 11: go out and win the job. And I think I
- 30:00Speaker 11: have the advantage in a good way because I know
- 30:03Speaker 11: this staff so well. I know the organization and how
- 30:05Speaker 11: they like to play, and that gives me a little
- 30:07Speaker 11: bit of an edge. But I still have to go
- 30:09Speaker 11: out there and perform. You know, you can't walk out
- 30:11Speaker 11: there and just be a body. You have to go
- 30:12Speaker 11: out there and hit, and you got to play well,
- 30:14Speaker 11: and you got to be positive, and you have to
- 30:16Speaker 11: lead the staff and show that you can do all the.
- 30:18Speaker 10: Things that you need to do.
- 30:20Speaker 2: Oh, I'm excited, KP. He's got me excited. Vibes here
- 30:23Speaker 2: high in Mariner's camp and Mitch wish you the best
- 30:25Speaker 2: of luck. Hopefully you get that eighteen back.
- 30:27Speaker 10: That's right, let's go get it. Thank you, AJ, Thanks KP.
- 30:31Speaker 5: Good seeing you.
- 30:39Speaker 9: And today, guys, we are checking out the American League
- 30:42Speaker 9: Pennant odds. You can see it there. The favorite are
- 30:45Speaker 9: the Yankees at plus four twenty five, the highest ticket
- 30:48Speaker 9: percentage the range or excuse me, the Tigers at twenty
- 30:50Speaker 9: point one percent, the highest handle percentage Blue Jays at
- 30:53Speaker 9: twenty eight and a half. Essentially, and the biggest liability
- 30:57Speaker 9: is the White Suck so AJ break this down for us, obviously,
- 31:00Speaker 9: I know what the favorite meets? What what? What?
- 31:06Speaker 1: What can we show that traffick again the biggest biggest
- 31:12Speaker 1: That means if the White Sox win the al penant,
- 31:15Speaker 1: that the bet MGM is going to lose the most money.
- 31:17Speaker 2: Right, That's how we take.
- 31:20Speaker 1: That's what I would Damn, someone's got a lot of
- 31:22Speaker 1: confidence in the White Sox. I ain't gonna lie people
- 31:25Speaker 1: that many people bet on the White Sox to win
- 31:27Speaker 1: the penant Oh, let's go White Sox.
- 31:31Speaker 9: What's highest handle percentage mean?
- 31:34Speaker 2: I mean two has the most.
- 31:36Speaker 5: That means the most people have probably bet on the
- 31:39Speaker 5: Blue Jays. Is That's what I'm assuming in the highest ticket.
- 31:42Speaker 2: I don't really know.
- 31:42Speaker 5: I don't know the betting lingo. Maybe I should have.
- 31:47Speaker 1: Yeah, we're scott, I know how to bet, I just
- 31:53Speaker 1: don't know the lingo, right, So I know with that.
- 31:55Speaker 5: Though, do you believe that the Yankees should be the
- 31:59Speaker 5: odd thing over the Blue Jays after what we saw
- 32:01Speaker 5: last year? And I could even make an argument that
- 32:03Speaker 5: the Tigers potentially would be the next team, next team
- 32:07Speaker 5: I would put maybe below the New.
- 32:09Speaker 9: J's About the Mariners?
- 32:11Speaker 1: Yeah, what about this team right here? What about these guys?
- 32:14Speaker 1: They've they made some nice moves. They brought back Nailer,
- 32:16Speaker 1: they they are starting rotations intact. Their bullpen is nasty
- 32:20Speaker 1: and by the way, they added one of the nastiest
- 32:22Speaker 1: lefties from the Nationals for Forerrero.
- 32:25Speaker 2: I'm gonna say it wrong.
- 32:25Speaker 1: So Ferrero, the lefty from the Nationals, who's just absolutely disgusting.
- 32:30Speaker 1: They brought in Brendon Donovan. I mean, listen to Mariners.
- 32:33Speaker 1: They don't forget the Mariners were one pitch away from
- 32:35Speaker 1: going to the World Series and beating the Blue Jays,
- 32:37Speaker 1: and beating and being the Blue Jays last year. So
- 32:41Speaker 1: it's hard for me not to look behind me and
- 32:42Speaker 1: look at these stud pitchers they have in this lineup
- 32:44Speaker 1: they have and say, how can you bet against the Mariners?
- 32:47Speaker 9: Now, Luis Castillo is behind you, go talk to him.
- 32:50Speaker 9: It's a pretty good arm.
- 32:52Speaker 5: Yeah, and that might be there. That might be their
- 32:54Speaker 5: fifth starter. That might be their fifth starter now, which
- 32:57Speaker 5: is pretty scary thought to have least catch you as
- 33:00Speaker 5: your number five.
- 33:03Speaker 1: Oh he doesn't take the ball. Oh he doesn't take
- 33:05Speaker 1: the ball every fifth day and pitch every fifth day.
- 33:08Speaker 9: Handle is the amount of money bet on a team,
- 33:11Speaker 9: So handle you like, Okay, So there you have it. Okay,
- 33:14Speaker 9: well good. I think the Mariners have a much better
- 33:17Speaker 9: chance than people are giving them credit for. But whether
- 33:19Speaker 9: you're watching the action on the field, the court, or
