- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Ben and Ashley I almost Famous podcast
- 0:03Speaker 1: with IET Radio.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Welcome back to the almost Famous podcast. It's been an
- 0:08Speaker 2: Ashley Here, we're back breaking down season two, Episode two
- 0:13Speaker 2: of The Golden Bachelor. Ashley ratings for that episode one
- 0:18Speaker 2: came out drastically lower than last year, which is unfortunate
- 0:22Speaker 2: because I really want this show.
- 0:23Speaker 3: To work well. Last year as in Jones season Oh,
- 0:28Speaker 3: Gary season Gary, Okay, yeah, drastically different than Gary. Gary's
- 0:32Speaker 3: numbers were so big, what were they like four or
- 0:34Speaker 3: five million?
- 0:35Speaker 2: Yes, and then the finale had seven point like seven million,
- 0:38Speaker 2: and they this is pulling this season so far after
- 0:43Speaker 2: the first week was like third in the time slot.
- 0:48Speaker 2: So damn, it's not good. It's not good. We gotta
- 0:51Speaker 2: get it back. We've gotta figure out way.
- 0:54Speaker 3: You know. Mail's not the answer though, And like Mel's
- 0:56Speaker 3: gonna kill me whenever he comes on this podcast. But
- 0:58Speaker 3: it's just like he's a very handsome guy. He's kind
- 1:02Speaker 3: of like the he's not There are pluses from Mel
- 1:07Speaker 3: and there are pluses from Gary, and like the combination
- 1:11Speaker 3: of the two of them is kind of what would
- 1:13Speaker 3: make the perfect Golden Bachelor. I know people say that
- 1:15Speaker 3: Gary what's perfect golden Bachelor, but then like stuff happens,
- 1:19Speaker 3: you know, like divorce really quickly. But like Gary, I mean,
- 1:25Speaker 3: like Mel I get is like hot, He's kind of
- 1:27Speaker 3: like a hot guy, right, but like he doesn't reek
- 1:31Speaker 3: of like emotion. There's not a lot of different levels
- 1:37Speaker 3: to him so far.
- 1:39Speaker 2: I would yes, I would say it this way too.
- 1:44Speaker 2: Gary was the type of guy that my wife could
- 1:46Speaker 2: watch and like be like he is so cute, like
- 1:50Speaker 2: I want him to find love and he was cute. Yeah,
- 1:53Speaker 2: And I'd be like, I'm cheering for him too, Jess,
- 1:55Speaker 2: like we were cheering for him together. If she was
- 1:58Speaker 2: like that mel guy cute, like I would be like, whoa,
- 2:01Speaker 2: like take a step back.
- 2:04Speaker 3: Totally, because there's a difference between cute and cute. Yeah,
- 2:07Speaker 3: and one is one and one is the other.
- 2:09Speaker 2: And here has been my argument the whole time. Bachelor people, producers,
- 2:13Speaker 2: I know you listen to this because we get in
- 2:15Speaker 2: trouble for things, so I know you hear these things.
- 2:19Speaker 2: It's not hard, guys, it's not hard. This isn't rocket science.
- 2:23Speaker 2: Like you were handed the easiest show to cast in
- 2:26Speaker 2: the world. Go with like cute old person, go with
- 2:31Speaker 2: that don't try to make your golden Bachelor become hot.
- 2:35Speaker 2: That's a weird thing to do. Keep going with cute,
- 2:39Speaker 2: keep going with like rootability, keep going with relatability. For
- 2:43Speaker 2: all of us out there who have lost grandparents and
- 2:46Speaker 2: loved our grandparents and want to watch our grandparents once
- 2:49Speaker 2: again in a dating world, don't go with people that
- 2:54Speaker 2: are young enough or attractive enough to make us feel
- 2:58Speaker 2: weird about watching them.
- 3:02Speaker 3: You know what, man, you really just you hit the point.
- 3:05Speaker 3: That was it and I didn't even realize it. You're right.
- 3:08Speaker 3: This this show is a lot more like hot driven
- 3:12Speaker 3: than Gary season, which was just sweet driven.
- 3:15Speaker 2: I don't know who they pulled or what kind of
- 3:19Speaker 2: test they did. You know that this is a huge franchise,
- 3:24Speaker 2: it's a big network, large production company. They I know
- 3:30Speaker 2: they did some tests behind the scenes on what people
- 3:34Speaker 2: were into or not. I don't know who they tested
- 3:36Speaker 2: and who they pulled. But whoever told them to get
- 3:40Speaker 2: away from having grandma's and grandpa's I really and I
- 3:44Speaker 2: said this, and I still mean it. I think they
- 3:47Speaker 2: could have had a better season if this dude was
- 3:49Speaker 2: eighty years old with a walker coming into the Bachelor mansion,
- 3:54Speaker 2: then they would like a really attractive, middle aged human.
- 3:59Speaker 3: Ben, I have no notes for you. That's really well put.
- 4:03Speaker 3: You didn't talk about this last week, right, you didn't
- 4:06Speaker 3: come on Hair, come on Aaron do an episode. Okay.
- 4:09Speaker 3: So I did talk to Kathy and Susan about this,
- 4:12Speaker 3: and it's really the women that are really rocking it
- 4:16Speaker 3: right now. They're a great cast. He's just I just
- 4:20Speaker 3: don't think that we're not going to get much from him.
- 4:24Speaker 2: I mean, I want to cry with Mel. I'm never
- 4:26Speaker 2: gonna cry with Mel. Like I don't feel bad for
- 4:28Speaker 2: the guy. Like he's doing great. He's a professional football player.
- 4:32Speaker 2: He's into this enough, but he's not like invested into
- 4:38Speaker 2: it where we're you know, with Kathy and Susan and
- 4:41Speaker 2: that cast and with Gary. If we can kind of
- 4:45Speaker 2: put everything else that happened post show away. What happened
- 4:50Speaker 2: with that show is we were rooting for them so
- 4:53Speaker 2: hard week by week, even the cast who would get eliminated,
- 4:56Speaker 2: and I remember feeling, oh, I hope you get off
- 4:59Speaker 2: of this and find like, I hope you get off
- 5:01Speaker 2: of this and can date again. This might be insensitive.
- 5:06Speaker 2: I'm not worried about any of these people. You're so right, like,
- 5:10Speaker 2: they're all very attractive, they're all very well accomplished. If
- 5:16Speaker 2: they want dates, I know they have people looking to
- 5:19Speaker 2: date them. Mel. Mel's not hurting for dates. This is
- 5:23Speaker 2: not his last shot here.
- 5:25Speaker 3: Mel could probably get most women like just into a
- 5:30Speaker 3: first date situation. I'd say, like most women from like
- 5:36Speaker 3: fifty to seventy to go on a date with him.
- 5:38Speaker 3: I know that he wants a forty five. I'm not
- 5:41Speaker 3: sure that every forty five year old is going to
- 5:42Speaker 3: say yes to him.
- 5:44Speaker 2: I might beat a different mind space because we're in
- 5:46Speaker 2: the process of famously available right now, where Deiana and
- 5:50Speaker 2: Mercedes are going on dates and we're tracking along with
- 5:53Speaker 2: it and falling along with it. Mel is Mel would
- 5:56Speaker 2: almost be He's kind of on the fringe, but I
- 5:59Speaker 2: would lean towards doing it, like setting him up on
- 6:02Speaker 2: a date with Deanna. Now, Deanna is.
- 6:04Speaker 3: Younger, spunkier, she's forty three.
- 6:06Speaker 2: But he is the type of guy that I would say, okay,
- 6:09Speaker 2: at least go on a date with him, Like I
- 6:10Speaker 2: don't think this is going to be marriage, but it's
- 6:12Speaker 2: a date, and I think she would say yes just
- 6:15Speaker 2: because she wants to date. Here's the point. I think
- 6:20Speaker 2: the show missed the mark. This was a show for
- 6:23Speaker 2: people to root for and cheer for and to invest
- 6:25Speaker 2: into and to be sensitive with, and in a lot
- 6:28Speaker 2: of ways, this was a show that if they would
- 6:30Speaker 2: have done it well for a few seasons, I think
- 6:32Speaker 2: they get a fan base that's protective of the show. Again,
- 6:36Speaker 2: it's like a cult following where they're invested into it
- 6:39Speaker 2: and they will protect the show because these cast members
- 6:42Speaker 2: are giving up so much and they're laying their lives
- 6:44Speaker 2: on the line for the second chance at love, and
- 6:47Speaker 2: the leads are risking it all by becoming this overnight
- 6:50Speaker 2: celebrity in their sixties, seventies, eighties, and they don't know
- 6:53Speaker 2: how to deal with it, and they're corky it dealing
- 6:54Speaker 2: with it, and their Instagram is cringey, and we're like,
- 6:57Speaker 2: that is my grandparent. That is the person I'm rooting for.
- 7:02Speaker 2: I love that person because their ego has gone out
- 7:05Speaker 2: the door way long ago and they've only gone on
- 7:08Speaker 2: the show because there was an opportunity to mix life
- 7:10Speaker 2: up a bit. And I think the show has completely
- 7:14Speaker 2: missed a mark for at least for this season, and
- 7:16Speaker 2: I'm worried it's gonna be just.
- 7:19Speaker 3: Done so I after this. Yeah, yeah, all right. Well,
- 7:23Speaker 3: another thing that I do not like, not to say
- 7:28Speaker 3: that I don't like mel, but you know what I
- 7:29Speaker 3: mean is the right fit. Probably not. Something I do
- 7:33Speaker 3: not like is the decorations or the way the remodel
- 7:39Speaker 3: of the houses. I know that they're going to be
- 7:41Speaker 3: doing a whole show about remodeling the house, but whatever
- 7:45Speaker 3: in between we're in right now. It is disgusting there.
- 7:50Speaker 3: It looks so cheap to the point like where I
- 7:54Speaker 3: was like, are we even in the Bachelor Mansion or
- 7:56Speaker 3: it is showing us visuals of the outside and like
- 7:58Speaker 3: they're having pool parties there and they are living somewhere
- 8:00Speaker 3: else because it's unrecognizable. There's like light purple paint on
- 8:05Speaker 3: just straight up drywall. One of the nice things about
- 8:08Speaker 3: the Bachelor Mansion was you never saw just like regular
- 8:11Speaker 3: painted dry wall. There's like stone and brick and well
- 8:15Speaker 3: wallpaper and lots of ornate things. It looks like they're
- 8:20Speaker 3: in a regular ass house that could have been built
- 8:22Speaker 3: whenever with no style.
- 8:24Speaker 2: Yeah, it looks like they're in like a fair Field
- 8:25Speaker 2: and in sweets, which I love to say. Yeah, I
- 8:28Speaker 2: love to stay there. Love a Fairfield, big fan I
- 8:32Speaker 2: don't want to watch a fairfield on television.
- 8:34Speaker 3: It does not look like a mansion at all. It
- 8:37Speaker 3: looks like my house anyway. It's also has really poor
- 8:41Speaker 3: paint colors anyway.
- 8:43Speaker 2: Very so, here's the good to the season so far.
- 8:45Speaker 3: Okay, here's the good. The women are really awesome. They're
- 8:49Speaker 3: hotter than Ben would probably like.
- 8:51Speaker 2: Yes, you're spot on. You said it perfectly. Yeah, the
- 8:55Speaker 2: women are good. They're outspoken. I think they're gonna have
- 8:59Speaker 2: more drama than past, like the years of the past.
- 9:03Speaker 2: They're feisty. There is good so far. There is some
- 9:08Speaker 2: things that are very enjoyable about this season, and we're
- 9:10Speaker 2: gonna lean into those because I want this again. I'm
- 9:14Speaker 2: coming from this from a place of not being mad
- 9:17Speaker 2: at the show. I'm not mad at the show at all.
- 9:18Speaker 2: They think they think they'm mad at them. I'm not
- 9:20Speaker 2: mad at them. I just want them to be good
- 9:22Speaker 2: and I want this show to work what we want
- 9:26Speaker 2: and I want this show to work. I want The
- 9:28Speaker 2: Golden to be a show that I can get into
- 9:31Speaker 2: because it was fun for my wife and I had
- 9:32Speaker 2: to watch together, and right now we're not at that place.
- 9:35Speaker 2: I don't think we're gonna get to that place this season.
- 9:37Speaker 2: That doesn't change the fact that I still want it
- 9:39Speaker 2: to be good. I'm rooting for you, Bachelor, like I'm
- 9:42Speaker 2: rooting for you deeply for so many reasons.
- 9:45Speaker 3: He's so Tyra Banks in this moment, like you know
- 9:48Speaker 3: I was rooting for you, like we were all rooting
- 9:50Speaker 3: for you. You don't even know that pop cultures you
- 9:53Speaker 3: know that moment. Escape to the coast at the Porta
- 10:05Speaker 3: Fino Hotel in Marina in Redondo Beach.
- 10:08Speaker 2: Wake up to sweeping ocean views. Then dine by the
- 10:11Speaker 2: marina at the Bileen Kitchen, where fresh flavors meet stunning
- 10:15Speaker 2: waterfront views.
- 10:16Speaker 3: At the Dockside Adventure Center, rent a kayak or paddle board,
- 10:20Speaker 3: or hop on a complimentary bike for a ride along
- 10:23Speaker 3: the coast.

- 10:28Speaker 2: parking and a fifty dollars resort credit with promo code iHeart.
- 10:32Speaker 3: Visit Hotel Portafino dot com to book or call eight
- 10:36Speaker 3: zero zero four six eight forty two ninety two. I
- 10:43Speaker 3: wanted to talk about the front runners for you, Ben
- 10:49Speaker 3: before we get into the episode, like how you left
- 10:51Speaker 3: last week's episode, since we didn't chat. I just wanted
- 10:54Speaker 3: to say that you told me about Sandra her her
- 10:59Speaker 3: Twins's right, who's on the season for one night. I'm
- 11:03Speaker 3: sorry that her name is slipping me right now, but
- 11:05Speaker 3: oh it's Andre, Sondra and Andre. That is a very
- 11:10Speaker 3: unique choice by the parents. But okay, no way, how
- 11:14Speaker 3: was that even a think Sondra and Andre? Okay, so
- 11:18Speaker 3: moving beyond that, she was so stunning and I was like,
- 11:24Speaker 3: not sure about how far she'd get. And then I
- 11:26Speaker 3: saw her get out a lament and I was like,
- 11:27Speaker 3: she's so saying she has to go so far. And
- 11:29Speaker 3: you were like a big fan with knowing nothing about her,
- 11:33Speaker 3: and were you also so disappointed to yeah, like what
- 11:36Speaker 3: was that?
- 11:37Speaker 2: And was like I don't know what we're doing.
- 11:40Speaker 3: Oh yeah, and then you're Miley and also, well, look
- 11:42Speaker 3: at the girl that I picked. Yeh, Maya, Maya. She
- 11:45Speaker 3: got elimined night Wall and yeah, poopsie, Daisy.
- 11:48Speaker 2: It's a very odd It was a very odd first
- 11:52Speaker 2: you know week for me. And then you know, obviously
- 11:55Speaker 2: we have this pool party. That's kind of where we
- 11:57Speaker 2: pick it up. This episode is with yeah, fla effects
- 12:00Speaker 2: of the pool party and reminiscing on the makeout that
- 12:03Speaker 2: Nicole and mel do in the pool now again. Would
- 12:08Speaker 2: never claim to be a Bachelor expert. I don't have
- 12:11Speaker 2: a lot of advice for any new leads coming through
- 12:14Speaker 2: the show. I have a few things, I would say,
- 12:18Speaker 2: not a lot when it comes to the logistics of
- 12:20Speaker 2: it all and how you should navigate it. The only
- 12:22Speaker 2: thing I ever tell leads.
- 12:24Speaker 3: Don't kiss in front of the other people.
- 12:26Speaker 2: The only thing, the only thing, don't kiss in front
- 12:29Speaker 2: of the other people. If if you don't have to write.
- 12:34Speaker 2: Sometimes cocktail parties and staff stuff like it just happens.
- 12:37Speaker 2: But what he did in that pool, like in the
- 12:41Speaker 2: back of his mind, one, how do you do that?
- 12:44Speaker 2: I've never seen that done really on this show before.
- 12:46Speaker 3: We're like, actually, me neither, not even with one of
- 12:49Speaker 3: the young people. Dude, Like, very rarely does that happen.
- 12:52Speaker 2: Like what show do they think they're on?
- 12:55Speaker 3: They're usually a little bit more discreet about it, you know,
- 12:58Speaker 3: where like maybe you catch them making out, but like
- 13:01Speaker 3: it's a one on one moment and everybody can kind
- 13:04Speaker 3: of see from far away. He was just like, let's
- 13:06Speaker 3: just straight up make out in bikinis and a bathing
- 13:10Speaker 3: suit without with everybody seeing it was quite something.
- 13:14Speaker 2: It's quite something. It's very odd to me because I
- 13:18Speaker 2: think it sends the wrong message, especially on the first
- 13:20Speaker 2: week when you're trying to convince these women that you're
- 13:22Speaker 2: actually there to do this thing. Well, they already know
- 13:27Speaker 2: the things you've said, and then you say, you know what,
- 13:30Speaker 2: the good wise decision is here, I'm gonna make out
- 13:32Speaker 2: with this one. Not just like kisser. I'm gonna go
- 13:35Speaker 2: all in in front of everybody else floating around me
- 13:37Speaker 2: in the pool, making everyone else either upset, jealous, angry,
- 13:43Speaker 2: or feeling very uncomfortable, Like I don't Ashley, if you
- 13:48Speaker 2: and Jared and I and Jess were at.
- 13:50Speaker 3: Dinner, could you imagine and we're married and we're still
- 13:53Speaker 3: and there's nobody to date there, that would still be
- 13:57Speaker 3: the weirdest thing.
- 13:58Speaker 2: You and Jared just start making out a dinner like
- 14:00Speaker 2: going at it. I would feel uncomfortable.
- 14:03Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, this is so strange. Your commentary and passionate
- 14:09Speaker 3: about Golden is just so good. I like love listening
- 14:11Speaker 3: to you talk Golden talk more golden to me.
- 14:16Speaker 2: As if that couldn't be more awkward.
- 14:17Speaker 3: I just said that, so there is going to be
- 14:24Speaker 3: This is the shortest episode of all time, by the way, Yeah,
- 14:26Speaker 3: forty one minutes. I know that. Like during the two
- 14:29Speaker 3: hour episodes, which crunched down to like an hour and
- 14:31Speaker 3: a half, we're always like, oh god, it's too long.
- 14:34Speaker 3: Well this was way too short, where I'm like, did
- 14:36Speaker 3: I even just watch an episode? Anything happen? We have
- 14:40Speaker 3: one one on one or kind of two one on
- 14:42Speaker 3: ones with the Nichole's in there, and then a group date,
- 14:46Speaker 3: and it looks like we know from the beginning of
- 14:48Speaker 3: the episode that Debbie will be going on the one
- 14:50Speaker 3: on one. Uh so that makes sense to me. Debbie
- 14:54Speaker 3: seemed like a front runner to all of us going
- 14:57Speaker 3: into it. Let's talk about the group date, though, which
- 14:59Speaker 3: is so fantastic because it's with our friend Jared Freed.
- 15:03Speaker 3: Have you ever met Jared.
- 15:04Speaker 2: I've never met Jared.
- 15:05Speaker 3: Oh he's great. He's so great. He's hilarious, Like, nobody
- 15:10Speaker 3: does bachelor comedy better than him. So I'm glad that
- 15:12Speaker 3: they had him on here.
- 15:13Speaker 2: It's a great date, it's fun, and I actually walked
- 15:17Speaker 2: out of that, or not walked out of it. I
- 15:19Speaker 2: moved on to the next scene of this episode thinking
- 15:22Speaker 2: I'm impressed with everybody everybody. I thought did well for
- 15:26Speaker 2: the for the challenge that was given. I thought mel
- 15:31Speaker 2: handled it well.
- 15:33Speaker 3: He seemed to be genuinely laughing. Yeah, like he was
- 15:36Speaker 3: actually making fun of himself, because a lot of people
- 15:39Speaker 3: do not handle ros well.
- 15:40Speaker 2: No. I thought it was great, great date. Whatever Nicole
- 15:43Speaker 2: wins this date, the one on one is not unexpected.
- 15:48Speaker 2: But again, I would say, you just made out with
- 15:51Speaker 2: this girl in a pool in front of everybody, Should
- 15:54Speaker 2: you really be bringing her on the one on one
- 15:56Speaker 2: date right afterwards after everybody made jokes about you guys
- 15:59Speaker 2: making out on the pool, probably sending a message of
- 16:02Speaker 2: either no, this is the only one I'm after, everybody
- 16:05Speaker 2: else can go home now, or he's just not making
- 16:09Speaker 2: like strategic decisions on how the feelings of others might
- 16:11Speaker 2: be affected by the choices he makes.
- 16:14Speaker 3: Mm hmmm. And your prediction as to what it is.
- 16:17Speaker 2: I think he's so into her, Yeah.
- 16:20Speaker 3: I think, Oh, I think that she is a front runner,
- 16:23Speaker 3: but I don't think. I don't know what she's gonna win.
- 16:24Speaker 3: But I do think that he's probably most just on
- 16:28Speaker 3: the surface attracted to her. Yeah, And I get that
- 16:30Speaker 3: her energy, her look is very young. So Nicole's date
- 16:35Speaker 3: is actually oddly fast paced.
- 16:37Speaker 4: To me.
- 16:38Speaker 3: It seems as if they are kind of in an
- 16:40Speaker 3: interview where she's like, yeah, I've been married twice, what
- 16:43Speaker 3: about you? I don't know thing about you? And then okay,
- 16:45Speaker 3: and then my answer about like, yeah, you want to
- 16:47Speaker 3: get married again. It was like, seemed a little interviewee
- 16:50Speaker 3: and it didn't give me romantic vibes. It gave me like,
- 16:53Speaker 3: these people want to hook up with each other, but
- 16:55Speaker 3: I'm not sure about beyond yeah.
- 17:00Speaker 2: I mean, I don't know how romance is going to
- 17:02Speaker 2: be displayed here. We felt that way with Gary too,
- 17:04Speaker 2: at least initially in the season. There was a lot
- 17:06Speaker 2: of very he was Remember he was really good at
- 17:09Speaker 2: like patting somebody's leg or something, and he just wasn't
- 17:13Speaker 2: saying a lot. I think there's nerves. I think these
- 17:14Speaker 2: one on ones are going to kind of be weird
- 17:16Speaker 2: for a while until they both get in the rhythm
- 17:18Speaker 2: of having cameras around and talking about things that matter,
- 17:22Speaker 2: especially in front of others. I right now am still
- 17:28Speaker 2: if we're comparing and contrasting, based on the cast that's
- 17:31Speaker 2: available and what we've seen so far, I still think
- 17:35Speaker 2: Nicole is my front runner. If we had to pick
- 17:38Speaker 2: at for this week. Now, we do contrast that with
- 17:43Speaker 2: Mel and Debbie's date, which happens, and I actually do
- 17:46Speaker 2: feel like there was more romance and a more of
- 17:48Speaker 2: a connection on that date than what we saw between
- 17:51Speaker 2: Mel and Nicole one on the Winner's Date or whatever
- 17:56Speaker 2: they call it. Do you agree?
- 17:58Speaker 3: I do agree. I think this is where Mel's lack
- 18:00Speaker 3: of emotion is gonna come in, where it's like, the
- 18:03Speaker 3: dates seem fine, but I don't know how much we're
- 18:07Speaker 3: going to be able to differentiate date to date because
- 18:10Speaker 3: he is kind of.
- 18:11Speaker 2: A locked box. Yeah, he's not sharing much. Huh.
- 18:15Speaker 3: No, Debbie, it does feel like a more romantic date.
- 18:19Speaker 3: I just feel like it's this slower pace, like cooking together,
- 18:22Speaker 3: eating a meal together like that. It just felt like
- 18:26Speaker 3: it lent more to an emotional connection. But I'm not
- 18:31Speaker 3: sure I'm gonna feel a lot of emotional connection.
- 18:34Speaker 2: Well here's the cool part. What if we do. I'm
- 18:37Speaker 2: not giving up on it yet. Okay, what if Mel
- 18:40Speaker 2: breaks down in the middle of this season and he says,
- 18:43Speaker 2: you know what, this is so overwhelming, It's so hard.
- 18:49Speaker 2: I got so many great women. I'm a changed man.
- 18:53Speaker 2: I am opening my life up to try to make
- 18:55Speaker 2: this work because I care about this person. Then goodness,
- 18:58Speaker 2: we have one of the best seasons. So that's why
- 19:00Speaker 2: I'm not giving up on it yet. If it opens
- 19:03Speaker 2: and closes kind of with him being in a closed
- 19:05Speaker 2: box and these dates just feeling cookie cutter and conversation
- 19:10Speaker 2: never go anywhere, I'm going to be so mad. And
- 19:13Speaker 2: I'll make sure to say.
- 19:14Speaker 3: It's not in me right like you say that there
- 19:16Speaker 3: was like neither of these dates like made me feel anything.
- 19:19Speaker 2: No, I think I no, You're you're spot on.
- 19:21Speaker 3: All right, And I'm not trying to hate. I'm not.
- 19:23Speaker 2: No, I think you're spot on. I'm just saying, okay
- 19:26Speaker 2: that I think the outcome here that could happen is
- 19:29Speaker 2: that he has a complete reversal in terms of his
- 19:34Speaker 2: protecting of himself his care for some of these women,
- 19:37Speaker 2: and as it gets more emotional and closer to the end,
- 19:39Speaker 2: maybe he cares enough to actually open up and we
- 19:43Speaker 2: have this like rising from the ashes, this phoenix type
- 19:47Speaker 2: moment will where mel all of a sudden captures our
- 19:50Speaker 2: hearts because we see him become human and we see
- 19:53Speaker 2: his real self shine. Right now, I'm giving it the
- 19:57Speaker 2: benefit of it out. This is new, it's on television,
- 19:59Speaker 2: there's cameras, there's people, it's still early, and so they're
- 20:03Speaker 2: just not good at it yet and that's okay.
- 20:05Speaker 3: Yeah, and he's never gone through a season before.
- 20:08Speaker 2: No, some people good at it.
- 20:10Speaker 3: I think Debbie's good at it.
- 20:11Speaker 2: I think she's great. She seemed very relaxed.
- 20:13Speaker 3: Yeah, definitely, she's the perfect candidate for the show. She's
- 20:17Speaker 3: never been married.
- 20:18Speaker 2: Yeah, she's great. And there's some others that I think
- 20:22Speaker 2: just have such big personalities that they'll be fine because
- 20:24Speaker 2: that's who they are. But there's some I think there
- 20:27Speaker 2: are some that's going to get kind of pushed aside.
- 20:30Speaker 2: Kathy and Susan show back up to the Mansion while
- 20:32Speaker 2: this date is going on. Those two have always been
- 20:35Speaker 2: good at television. They were good at television from the
- 20:37Speaker 2: moment they started, and they're good at television now. And
- 20:39Speaker 2: they are a comedy act of just being together, like
- 20:44Speaker 2: just the two of them in the same room. There's
- 20:47Speaker 2: gonna be something that happens that either makes you laugh, cry,
- 20:50Speaker 2: or shake your head in like awe of something happening.
- 20:54Speaker 3: And I'm assuming this is the vibrator part for you. Yeah, yes,
- 20:59Speaker 3: well didn't know what a vibrator was.
- 21:02Speaker 2: There's zero chance. I just don't believe it. Like, you
- 21:06Speaker 2: don't have to be a connoisseur of them, you don't
- 21:09Speaker 2: have to like use them, you know what they are? Yeah,
- 21:14Speaker 2: I mean like you're maybe not Okay, let's say she's
- 21:18Speaker 2: telling the truth. I love this, Ashley. Kathy and Susan
- 21:22Speaker 2: have this deep desire we know them personally, We love
- 21:25Speaker 2: them personally. I have known Kathy and Susan for years
- 21:28Speaker 2: and smith so many great memories with them, and.
- 21:31Speaker 3: I really have my first personal body experienced them this
- 21:34Speaker 3: week and it lived up. It was so good.
- 21:38Speaker 2: It's so good. They have this deep desire to care
- 21:42Speaker 2: well and to give advice because they are wise and
- 21:44Speaker 2: they give great advice, and they want to be that
- 21:48Speaker 2: kind of influence on not only people our age, but
- 21:52Speaker 2: also you know people their age who are now going
- 21:54Speaker 2: on the show, Like this is the perfect role for them.
- 21:56Speaker 2: I think the show called them and said, hey, you
- 21:59Speaker 2: got to buy your own plane to get hotel room,
- 22:00Speaker 2: you got to pay us actually to come on the show,
- 22:02Speaker 2: but you're gonna get to give advice. And they're both
- 22:04Speaker 2: like yes, in one hundred percent and you can tell
- 22:07Speaker 2: that they're genuine in this advice that they're giving these women.
- 22:10Speaker 2: They care about their experiences. They want these women to
- 22:12Speaker 2: shine because if you ask the two of them, their
- 22:16Speaker 2: biggest hope for the Golden Show is that it just
- 22:20Speaker 2: brings this rejuvenated life to the people coming on it,
- 22:24Speaker 2: like that they see themselves in a light that's like
- 22:26Speaker 2: I can do new things. Yeah, it's great.
- 22:30Speaker 3: It was great. I wish we saw them with with
- 22:44Speaker 3: mel two because how funny would it be to have
- 22:47Speaker 3: them interrogate him and crack that egg.
- 22:50Speaker 2: Yeah, because they'd be tough on them.
- 22:52Speaker 3: Yeah, I know Kathy would say the most outrageous things.
- 22:56Speaker 3: I'd love it. So I don't know. I want to
- 22:58Speaker 3: be one thousand percent to see them back. Really, I
- 23:02Speaker 3: love Jesse. They could host this show.
- 23:05Speaker 2: And yeah it could or would it.
- 23:08Speaker 3: Get to like it wouldn't be serious enough.
- 23:10Speaker 2: It wouldn't be. I mean, I think it'd just be
- 23:12Speaker 2: I think they can get serious, but I think it
- 23:14Speaker 2: would be a lot of like talking over each other the.
- 23:19Speaker 3: Most talking over each other. But they are seriously best
- 23:22Speaker 3: best friends, Like when they sat next to each other
- 23:24Speaker 3: on the bus in Louis the Jonas concert like they
- 23:28Speaker 3: just their energy between them is so comfortable. It's as
- 23:32Speaker 3: if like it's the same energy that I have with
- 23:34Speaker 3: the best friend that I've known for way longer than
- 23:36Speaker 3: the two of them have known each other. And for
- 23:38Speaker 3: that kind of bond to happen when you are in
- 23:40Speaker 3: your seventies, for them, that's wild, especially since like I
- 23:45Speaker 3: don't know, like you and me think, could I really
- 23:48Speaker 3: make a best friend in my thirties. I don't know
- 23:50Speaker 3: if I'm gonna make a best friend in my thirties.
- 23:52Speaker 3: I can make like some friends.
- 23:53Speaker 2: But I absolutely adore those two and I do think
- 23:57Speaker 2: they actually could have huge parts in the show. We're
- 24:00Speaker 2: all better off when they're on our televisions. We're better
- 24:02Speaker 2: off when we're listening to them. They still have their podcast.
- 24:06Speaker 2: We're better off when they are around. And here's the
- 24:11Speaker 2: cool part about them. When they're on television, especially, there's
- 24:15Speaker 2: gonna be something that happens that's memorable. This memorable moment
- 24:20Speaker 2: was the two of them gifting the women vibrators.
- 24:24Speaker 3: Ben feels awkward.
- 24:26Speaker 2: Yeah, it does feel awkward to talk about. It does
- 24:27Speaker 2: a little bit. I think in thought it was going
- 24:29Speaker 2: to be a bigger like scene. It really was quick.
- 24:32Speaker 2: We didn't get a lot of like funny one off
- 24:34Speaker 2: comments or like anybody being like, oh, let me leave,
- 24:38Speaker 2: Like I think that's what the show is wanting. Nobody
- 24:40Speaker 2: really did that for whatever reason, so it just kind
- 24:42Speaker 2: of came and went and like that was it. But
- 24:45Speaker 2: it's absolutely hilarious to me that Kathy and Susan said
- 24:50Speaker 2: let's bring them a gift. Somebody around somebody said it
- 24:53Speaker 2: going to be a vibrator and they said, yes, perfect.
- 24:57Speaker 3: Yeah, that's so funny. So do we even have We
- 25:01Speaker 3: don't even have like a we have a little bit.
- 25:05Speaker 3: We had the miniest cocktail party before the rose ceremony,
- 25:08Speaker 3: and it's all about Carol, who I do want to
- 25:10Speaker 3: see all the Carol. I love Carol. There's something about
- 25:14Speaker 3: her that I think is she's like, she's pretty, but
- 25:17Speaker 3: she's relatable because she's nervous and she feels awkward around him,
- 25:21Speaker 3: and we love that she admits this. And I didn't
- 25:25Speaker 3: know that she was going to get a rose because
- 25:28Speaker 3: one I think that was the first kiss. Her first
- 25:31Speaker 3: kiss with him was after that conversation, and she was like,
- 25:37Speaker 3: it wasn't a make ad, it was just like a
- 25:38Speaker 3: little kiss. I just felt like he wasn't vibing her,
- 25:42Speaker 3: and maybe it's because she doesn't like present herself with
- 25:44Speaker 3: like the ultimate like confidence and she's not suavee like
- 25:49Speaker 3: I feel like he's expecting a lot of them to be.
- 25:53Speaker 3: Then there's also so yeah, but she ends up getting
- 25:58Speaker 3: a rose the last row, and I really think that
- 26:00Speaker 3: she made not last long. And that's crazy because you
- 26:03Speaker 3: and I both took her to the very end pretty
- 26:04Speaker 3: much practically the very end. Another point that I want
- 26:08Speaker 3: to make about the rose ceremony the kissing of all
- 26:12Speaker 3: of them, Like when he went down the row and
- 26:14Speaker 3: he kissed everybody on the lips? What was that? That
- 26:17Speaker 3: was weird?
- 26:18Speaker 2: I don't like it.
- 26:19Speaker 3: I don't that was so weird, Like one of them said,
- 26:22Speaker 3: Cindy was like, I'm not going to kiss him after
- 26:24Speaker 3: everybody else, so I'm just going to go right in
- 26:26Speaker 3: for it, like first second in line, super super super weird.
- 26:31Speaker 3: What's his name from Family Feud?
- 26:33Speaker 2: Who?
- 26:34Speaker 3: Oh my gosh, the Family Feud host? No, not Steve Harvey,
- 26:39Speaker 3: like one of the ogs. He used to embarrass it,
- 26:42Speaker 3: like it was his shtick that he would kiss like
- 26:45Speaker 3: all the women in the family on the lips. Before
- 26:47Speaker 3: the game started.
- 26:48Speaker 2: That feels that feels like it would definitely not.
- 26:51Speaker 3: It's just like this whole row of women going lah lah.
- 26:56Speaker 2: It's very weird to me.
- 26:58Speaker 3: Richard Dawson.
- 26:59Speaker 2: Yeah, it's very like it's almost like cult. Like honestly
- 27:04Speaker 2: say that.
- 27:05Speaker 3: It's like we're worshiping a little bit too much. If
- 27:07Speaker 3: he gets welcome with the line of kisses.
- 27:09Speaker 2: Yeah, it feels very, very weird for so many reasons.
- 27:12Speaker 2: I don't like it. I don't like the place this
- 27:16Speaker 2: season is going. Again, this should be rated elderly television,
- 27:24Speaker 2: elderly TV. We're turning it into something so different. But
- 27:30Speaker 2: you know what, I'm not getting paid to produce a show,
- 27:32Speaker 2: so who am I to say anything?
- 27:34Speaker 3: It's true man, all right. My last comment about the
- 27:36Speaker 3: Rose ceremony was Cindy. Cindy is so and him has
- 27:41Speaker 3: been throughout the entire episode. Was last week, she's like
- 27:45Speaker 3: freaking out because she feels like she's falling in love
- 27:47Speaker 3: with him. I really like Cindy. I want him to
- 27:50Speaker 3: give her as much as she's giving him. Yeah, and
- 27:54Speaker 3: I'm not sure. I think this man really likes kind
- 27:57Speaker 3: of like hard to get, but like not hard to get,
- 27:59Speaker 3: like if you are physically easy to get, like Nicole,
- 28:02Speaker 3: I think he's down. If you're like emotionally intense, I
- 28:05Speaker 3: think you might scare him. I think Cindy might scare him.
- 28:07Speaker 3: I hope she doesn't.
- 28:08Speaker 2: What if that's a sign of the interest that the
- 28:10Speaker 2: lead actually has him being there? Yeah, if the lead
- 28:14Speaker 2: really wants to be there, they will do whatever they
- 28:16Speaker 2: can to hear everybody's story to the level that somebody's
- 28:23Speaker 2: able to share it. If the lead doesn't really want
- 28:26Speaker 2: to be there, which we've had the leads of The
- 28:29Speaker 2: Bachelor especially do this, they don't really carry conversation. They're
- 28:33Speaker 2: kind of checked out. They say things that don't really
- 28:36Speaker 2: make sense just to fill space, and they kiss all
- 28:40Speaker 2: the time because they don't actually want to talk. They
- 28:43Speaker 2: don't actually want to invest any heart and soul into
- 28:45Speaker 2: this thing. So far, I think that's where we're at again.
- 28:50Speaker 2: I hope that changes. I believe it could change. I
- 28:53Speaker 2: believe people like mel oftentimes can be can learn a lot.
- 29:00Speaker 2: And I'm not saying he has a lot to learn
- 29:01Speaker 2: in life. I just think this process can teach you
- 29:03Speaker 2: a lot, and like vulnerabilities come out because real feelings
- 29:07Speaker 2: start to be felt. And you don't know what to
- 29:09Speaker 2: do with it, and so you just start breaking. I
- 29:13Speaker 2: think the most defensive guarded people on this show are
- 29:19Speaker 2: often the ones that we end up getting the most
- 29:22Speaker 2: beautiful story from. So I'm hoping for that for mel.
- 29:25Speaker 2: I don't know though, but I'm hoping for it.
- 29:28Speaker 3: I'm sure we'll get it in somewhere or another.
- 29:31Speaker 2: Never fails. We got the Row ceremony at the pool.
- 29:34Speaker 2: New location, interesting location, beautiful location. Don'tuh, don't hate it.
- 29:40Speaker 3: I like it. The pool feels normal natural to me.
- 29:42Speaker 3: They haven't changed it. Let's just do it out there then,
- 29:46Speaker 3: all right, So our bracket, how is that doing?
- 29:50Speaker 4: With the elimination of Monica B Monica, p Amy, and
- 29:56Speaker 4: Terry go home, I think I'm still in last place
- 29:59Speaker 4: in the whole six thousand person bracket.
- 30:01Speaker 3: My lineup leaving this Rose ceremony was that it was
- 30:04Speaker 3: going to be Carol, Cindy, Debbie, Monica who is eliminated,
- 30:08Speaker 3: Roxane who's still there, and Nicole. So actually, I'm not
- 30:12Speaker 3: doing as bad as I thought now that we've gotten
- 30:15Speaker 3: to this point.
- 30:16Speaker 2: Yeah, you're crushing me, absolutely destroying nobody. Hey, big weird moment.
- 30:23Speaker 2: Nicole does say during this preview that she wants to
- 30:28Speaker 2: become an influencer. Nothing can become more cringey to me
- 30:32Speaker 2: than somebody's saying they want to become an influencer, even
- 30:35Speaker 2: just any anytime, Like I just don't like it. I
- 30:37Speaker 2: think you yeah, of course, like, hey, I want to
- 30:39Speaker 2: become an influencer. I think you're I think I hear that,
- 30:42Speaker 2: and I say, you you feel like you are a
- 30:45Speaker 2: type of person that should be influencing others.
- 30:48Speaker 3: Ben that is so accurate. And also, I mean, I
- 30:53Speaker 3: can't even describe what I do when people say, like,
- 30:55Speaker 3: what do you do? Like if a stranger were to
- 30:57Speaker 3: talk to me, I'm like, I have no idea how
- 31:00Speaker 3: to describe this. I would never say, oh, I'm an influencer.
- 31:04Speaker 3: It's just so correct. Yeah, okay, but yeah, Nicole says
- 31:09Speaker 3: at the kitchen table, I kind of want to be
- 31:12Speaker 3: more of an influencer. And here's the deal. I remember
- 31:17Speaker 3: watching it. I think what they could have sat downe
- 31:20Speaker 3: is made it look like she was the one who
- 31:23Speaker 3: said I want to be more of an influencer, but
- 31:25Speaker 3: she was actually quoting somebody else. There's a possibility of that, Okay, Like, oh,
- 31:31Speaker 3: she told me I want to be more of an influencer.
- 31:35Speaker 3: Good point, So it could be her, even though it
- 31:37Speaker 3: does seem based on character that she might just be
- 31:40Speaker 3: feeling very young.
- 31:42Speaker 2: Well, good for her, we should all feel young.
- 31:44Speaker 3: You're right, no shade, no shade.
- 31:46Speaker 2: We'll watch for that. We'll watch for some of the
- 31:48Speaker 2: other things in the preview, males kissing some people. He's
- 31:52Speaker 2: dancing a lot, obviously, we see some of the women
- 31:55Speaker 2: start to get after each other a little bit. We'll
- 31:57Speaker 2: see how this plays out. It's going to be very interesting, Ash,
- 32:01Speaker 2: I guess to end, let's just pick our top person
- 32:04Speaker 2: at this point.
- 32:05Speaker 3: My top person for me, I like Carol, like I
- 32:08Speaker 3: enjoy watching Carol. I believe that for him, his top
- 32:14Speaker 3: choice is actually going to be Cheryl.
- 32:20Speaker 2: Let's go. I don't hate that. I like Debbie and
- 32:22Speaker 2: Nicole right now, I just think I'm biased based on
- 32:27Speaker 2: what's happening in the house and what we've seen so far.
- 32:33Speaker 2: They both, you know, especially Debbie, seems like they could
- 32:35Speaker 2: actually make something work. Well, we'll be back. We have
- 32:38Speaker 2: a ton of stuff coming your way. Goodness, gracious, keep
- 32:41Speaker 2: updating the almost famous thread because we have some great episodes.
- 32:45Speaker 2: You're out there we have some great episodes that are
- 32:47Speaker 2: out now.
- 32:48Speaker 3: Been speaking of that, I can't wait to have everybody
- 32:51Speaker 3: out there here. How Deanna's date at the Jonas concert, which, yes,
- 32:56Speaker 3: location strange, but it's a podcast dating show. Okay, so
- 33:01Speaker 3: just be down. I can't wait to hear your recap
- 33:06Speaker 3: of it because I know how it went in real life. Yeah,
- 33:10Speaker 3: and I have a teaser. Oh, it's out. Okay, it's
- 33:12Speaker 3: gonna be a teaser. Okay, guys, go listen to it
- 33:15Speaker 3: this weekend.
- 33:16Speaker 2: It will come out. We have a lot of good
- 33:19Speaker 2: content on that. We just finished that interview breaking it
- 33:22Speaker 2: all down. Also, Ashley, on this October fifth, Chris Harrison,
- 33:27Speaker 2: Wells Adams and myself are going to be together having
- 33:31Speaker 2: a yacht party and New York City with city cruises.
- 33:36Speaker 2: We can't wait to see all the people out. It's
- 33:37Speaker 2: gonna be a lot of fun.
- 33:38Speaker 3: Oh my god, city cruises. Yeah, speaking of that, I
- 33:42Speaker 3: had a fantastic Jonas experience on a city cruise once.
- 33:46Speaker 3: It's probably the same boat.
- 33:47Speaker 2: Yeah where they are.
- 33:49Speaker 3: Wow, A meeting of the worlds, Yes, it was. It
- 33:52Speaker 3: was a three hundred person like fan event.
- 33:54Speaker 2: Yeah, that's what this is. Yeah, it's great. It's really fun,
- 33:59Speaker 2: and so I think anybody should come out, who's in
- 34:02Speaker 2: New York or Boston's going to be two nights before
- 34:05Speaker 2: we're actually going to be recording a show from the
- 34:08Speaker 2: vote as well, so people that are listening to Almost
- 34:11Speaker 2: Famous who made me live in a different part of
- 34:13Speaker 2: the country could listen to the event in New York
- 34:18Speaker 2: here on the Almost Famous feeds. But again, I you know,
- 34:22Speaker 2: the point of this is doing it so people come,
- 34:24Speaker 2: so we can see you in person and hang out
- 34:26Speaker 2: with you. And like Ashley said, you had a great
- 34:29Speaker 2: event with the Jonases and why thirteen goodness gracious and
- 34:34Speaker 2: why not? And look at this twelve years later, you're
- 34:36Speaker 2: still showing up.
