- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous podcast
- 0:03Speaker 1: with iHeartRadio.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Hey guys, welcome to the Almost smous podcast. Today Ben
- 0:09Speaker 2: and I are getting together to talk about some shocking
- 0:12Speaker 2: news that hit the internet yesterday. Devin has some serious
- 0:18Speaker 2: legal issues in his past.
- 0:21Speaker 3: It's uh, there's a lot to break down here. So
- 0:24Speaker 3: this is a breaking news Almost Famous podcast. We're gonna
- 0:28Speaker 3: start doing these more because it just feels like these
- 0:30Speaker 3: some of this stuff can't wait till like next week's headlines,
- 0:34Speaker 3: and today is definitely one of those days, according to
- 0:37Speaker 3: Reality Steve. Reported by Reality Steve and then broken down
- 0:40Speaker 3: at little further by Bachelor Data. That's where I'm getting
- 0:44Speaker 3: a lot of my information from.
- 0:45Speaker 2: But also now an article with Hollywood Reporter, which we
- 0:49Speaker 2: know is like a very legitimate entertainment news source.
- 0:52Speaker 3: Yeah, it's just kind of coming across the airways. But
- 0:55Speaker 3: Reality Steve is we have to give him credit for
- 0:56Speaker 3: being the original one to break this.
- 0:58Speaker 2: Because the girl she's set in him the info right,
- 1:02Speaker 2: the ex girlfriend who he has the restraint that she
- 1:05Speaker 2: has a restraining order against Devon.
- 1:08Speaker 3: It's a pretty wild story. So here is the story.
- 1:10Speaker 3: Devin who ended up with Jen at the end, and
- 1:13Speaker 3: then obviously had his moment on Life television that didn't
- 1:15Speaker 3: go well for him, and then tried to post a
- 1:17Speaker 3: thirteen many video that didn't go well for him. Has
- 1:21Speaker 3: now had more news come out here as of the
- 1:23Speaker 3: last twenty four hours that is also not going well
- 1:27Speaker 3: for him. And there's a lot of people involved in
- 1:29Speaker 3: this actually that we need to talk about that it's
- 1:31Speaker 3: not going to go well for But here's the headline.
- 1:34Speaker 3: Bachelorette star Devin X had a restraining order against him
- 1:39Speaker 3: in twenty seventeen. This took place in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
- 1:45Speaker 2: So it happened back in the college years. Twenty was twenteen,
- 1:50Speaker 2: it's twenty one, okay, So while having a restraining order
- 1:54Speaker 2: out on him, he still came to her door, banged
- 1:58Speaker 2: on the door several times, starts screaming at her, and
- 2:01Speaker 2: then later that evening made a fire out in the
- 2:05Speaker 2: street outside of her apartment complex and apparently made the fire,
- 2:10Speaker 2: was lighting the actual restraining order on fire. She also
- 2:16Speaker 2: had her tire flattened and when it was being changed,
- 2:20Speaker 2: you know, when like TRIPLEA came to change or whatever,
- 2:23Speaker 2: Devon came outside and began laughing at her in like
- 2:26Speaker 2: an obnoxious way. Ultimately, he pled guilty to charges of
- 2:30Speaker 2: criminal trespass and simple criminal damage to property of less
- 2:36Speaker 2: than five hundred dollars. He received one year of unsupervised
- 2:42Speaker 2: probation because of this.
- 2:45Speaker 3: Like what, like, let's take a pause there, just for
- 2:51Speaker 3: everybody to process the information they just received. So Devin,
- 2:58Speaker 3: there's three three I think we should break this down.
- 3:01Speaker 3: The first, let's talk about Devon and obviously these actions
- 3:07Speaker 3: are so bad and at some level even hard to process,
- 3:14Speaker 3: just that he did all of.
- 3:16Speaker 2: This, but he did this after the restraining order was
- 3:20Speaker 2: put on it. Like, what did he do to get
- 3:22Speaker 2: the restraining on to you?
- 3:24Speaker 3: If we knew what he did?
- 3:27Speaker 1: We know.
- 3:29Speaker 3: So here's my first way breaking this down. I don't
- 3:31Speaker 3: think any of us, anybody out there listening, needs us
- 3:33Speaker 3: to go into just how terrible these acts are, because
- 3:37Speaker 3: I think that's obvious. He had a restraining order against them,
- 3:40Speaker 3: broke the restraining order, and then decided to vandalize and
- 3:44Speaker 3: torment this poor woman to a place where obviously there
- 3:49Speaker 3: was more law involved. But let's stop for a second
- 3:55Speaker 3: outside of that the obvious, and say, why did Devin
- 3:58Speaker 3: go on the show.
- 3:58Speaker 2: After knowing that this was out there about him, and
- 4:01Speaker 2: then this could easily come out in public knowledge.
- 4:04Speaker 3: That's my first thought, And maybe that's an incorrect way
- 4:06Speaker 3: to think of it, but I'm thinking, all right, dude,
- 4:09Speaker 3: you obviously have a past that you shouldn't not be
- 4:12Speaker 3: opening up millions of people to learn about. So let's
- 4:18Speaker 3: before we talk about how he got on the show,
- 4:20Speaker 3: let's talk about his decision to say, yeah, you know what,
- 4:22Speaker 3: I'm going to go on this show.
- 4:23Speaker 2: Yeah, well, I mean, it's just weird. It's just also
- 4:28Speaker 2: proves that he was really hungry for some attention, so
- 4:32Speaker 2: hungry for attention that he perhaps didn't mind this coming
- 4:35Speaker 2: out about him. Okay, so that he, like I want
- 4:39Speaker 2: to feel, I feel like he like swindled her into love.
- 4:43Speaker 3: Now, yeah, Like originally, if I'm honest, my thought was
- 4:47Speaker 3: he did love her. Maybe he did still, I don't know,
- 4:50Speaker 3: but he was very into her, and that he wanted
- 4:52Speaker 3: this to work and it didn't work, and he just
- 4:54Speaker 3: handled everything past it not working very poorly from a
- 5:00Speaker 3: respect perspective, from an adult perspective, from showing any type
- 5:05Speaker 3: of maturity, he handled those things poorly. That was how
- 5:10Speaker 3: I thought of this whole thing was he loved her,
- 5:12Speaker 3: it didn't work out, and then he handled everything afterwards
- 5:15Speaker 3: like a child. Now, with this news coming out and
- 5:21Speaker 3: also his thirteen minute video, my perspective has changed to
- 5:25Speaker 3: be he played her this whole time. And I'll add
- 5:35Speaker 3: in this which will probably not be received well, the
- 5:38Speaker 3: group of men on this season were so bad that
- 5:41Speaker 3: he somehow came out on top.
- 5:44Speaker 2: Yeah, and especially after seeing the Golden Bachelorette and this
- 5:49Speaker 2: group of amazing.
- 5:50Speaker 3: We can't compare the two. Those two cannot even be compared, Like,
- 5:54Speaker 3: they can't even They're two totally different categories.
- 5:57Speaker 2: There's gotta be they have the capability of finding great people, right,
- 6:01Speaker 2: the young man.
- 6:04Speaker 3: He's a great man. Your husband's a great man. Look
- 6:07Speaker 3: at him.
- 6:07Speaker 2: They found him, they found you, They found a lot
- 6:11Speaker 2: of great people. But like, what is it casting that
- 6:14Speaker 2: sucks or or do is this generation which is a
- 6:17Speaker 2: decade younger? Now? A decade has passed since you and
- 6:22Speaker 2: Jared were casted cast Sorry.
- 6:27Speaker 3: Maybe Devins six years younger than me? That only six
- 6:32Speaker 3: years younger.
- 6:32Speaker 2: That's not really generational, is it.
- 6:34Speaker 3: No, he's six years younger men? Yeah, Okay, so that's
- 6:40Speaker 3: the first thoughts here this no matter what generation, Let's
- 6:47Speaker 3: be clear, no matter what generation, what time, what era,
- 6:50Speaker 3: how far we go along this this back, the backing
- 6:57Speaker 3: of what's happened in Devon's life is never should never
- 7:00Speaker 3: be on the show, right, Like this is not a
- 7:03Speaker 3: new generational thing where it's like, yeah, you know what,
- 7:05Speaker 3: the new generation just really likes to vandalize cars and
- 7:09Speaker 3: break into their ex's houses and have restraining orders put
- 7:12Speaker 3: out against them and break those restraining orders. Like that's
- 7:14Speaker 3: never going to be okay. So the fact that he
- 7:18Speaker 3: even ended up on the show as wild to me.
- 7:20Speaker 3: So that's a transition into talking about how he got
- 7:23Speaker 3: on the show. Yeah, Ashley, you've been on this show.
- 7:26Speaker 3: I've been on this show. The amount of effort put
- 7:29Speaker 3: into learning about my past and knowing whatever diseases I
- 7:34Speaker 3: carried or did it carry, and all the blood work
- 7:38Speaker 3: done and all of the investigation done into my history,
- 7:43Speaker 3: they knew everything about me.
- 7:46Speaker 2: Yeah, they do a full background check, full psychological checkup
- 7:51Speaker 2: exam and then yeah physical exam. So insane that this
- 7:55Speaker 2: would have fallen through the cracks. The restraining order was
- 7:58Speaker 2: later sealed. It was sealed that I guess that means
- 8:01Speaker 2: like the X was like, Okay, I'm over it. Whatever
- 8:03Speaker 2: you can pretend it never happened. I don't know. That's
- 8:06Speaker 2: pretty generous after what he did. Then it says, but
- 8:11Speaker 2: the burglary for the arrest AFFI David, that is still
- 8:16Speaker 2: in the public public record, so they would have been
- 8:18Speaker 2: able to find that the bachelor, whoever the heck does
- 8:21Speaker 2: the background checks, so they would have found that he
- 8:23Speaker 2: had a burglary arrest. And if you look into the
- 8:28Speaker 2: burglary arrest, it discusses the restraining order, so it really
- 8:32Speaker 2: is public record, like all of it.
- 8:34Speaker 3: If Reality Steve can find this, and how much time
- 8:37Speaker 3: it took him, I know, and Reality Steve obviously got
- 8:41Speaker 3: tipped off, so he knew he was invested, like well,
- 8:44Speaker 3: looking into something that was existing because of his ex
- 8:48Speaker 3: or whoever that tipped him off on this. But if
- 8:50Speaker 3: he can find it, the show can find it with
- 8:52Speaker 3: all the resources and the tools that they have available.
- 8:55Speaker 3: So let's talk about this for a second. I I
- 9:01Speaker 3: have a hard time imagining. In fact, I would go
- 9:05Speaker 3: as far as saying it's just not possible that the
- 9:08Speaker 3: show did not know of this record.
- 9:14Speaker 2: I think that I've a were a guess. I think
- 9:16Speaker 2: that they saw the burglary hster, which should have been
- 9:19Speaker 2: enough to be like, oh, we can't cast this guy.
- 9:22Speaker 2: I just think that they probably didn't look into the
- 9:26Speaker 2: paperwork that said that it had to do with, like
- 9:28Speaker 2: with the rest training order had been present as well.
- 9:32Speaker 3: But how Ashley, So what you just said was they
- 9:35Speaker 3: saw a burglary area, which I'm saying it's.
- 9:38Speaker 2: Still nuts that they would have been like, Okay, you're
- 9:40Speaker 2: still allowed.
- 9:40Speaker 3: On, and that they would allow Jin to end up
- 9:44Speaker 3: with him.
- 9:44Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:45Speaker 3: I like that they wouldn't at some point say hey Jen, yea,
- 9:48Speaker 3: by the way, like this Devin dude, Like I know
- 9:51Speaker 3: you're into him and he's into you and all this stuff.
- 9:55Speaker 3: I mean they've done that. They did this for me
- 9:57Speaker 3: where they're like but like I don't know if she
- 10:01Speaker 3: is right for you, Like you need to ask yourself
- 10:03Speaker 3: that question.
- 10:04Speaker 2: They could have twisted the story around like Top four.
- 10:07Speaker 3: Like how did they let this go through? And for
- 10:10Speaker 3: Jen to enter into this blind to his past. The
- 10:18Speaker 3: one thing that I always had trust on as a
- 10:20Speaker 3: lead was that the show had my back one and
- 10:25Speaker 3: I still believe they did. And I still believe they
- 10:27Speaker 3: do even though I questioned that at times, but they
- 10:31Speaker 3: still have my back and that all of the people
- 10:34Speaker 3: that were there that were showing up that they had
- 10:38Speaker 3: checked on like that. I was, you know, like, yes,
- 10:41Speaker 3: I needed to learn as much about them as possible. Yes,
- 10:43Speaker 3: I need to ask every question that was available to
- 10:45Speaker 3: me in the time that we had to try to
- 10:48Speaker 3: understand and learn who they were as people to see
- 10:49Speaker 3: if we were a match together. I never once questioned
- 10:54Speaker 3: if I had asked, Hey, have you ever been arrested
- 10:56Speaker 3: and if so for what, Hey, which you know outside
- 11:02Speaker 3: of everything else, Like have you spent any jail time?
- 11:06Speaker 3: Like that was never even a thought.
- 11:08Speaker 2: So we have had people on the show that have
- 11:10Speaker 2: had DUIs. You know, I'd say a number. Now, what's
- 11:14Speaker 2: interesting about this legal issue is that this has to
- 11:17Speaker 2: do with dating. This has to do with a romantic
- 11:21Speaker 2: relationship in which this guy went crazy.
- 11:24Speaker 3: Let me be clear, Mistakes happen, and you learn from
- 11:26Speaker 3: those mistakes, and I'm hoping there's some grace there to say, Hey,
- 11:31Speaker 3: what happened, tell us more about this. We saw this
- 11:33Speaker 3: on your record, We saw this when we were like
- 11:37Speaker 3: doing the background check. Tell me a little bit more
- 11:39Speaker 3: so to help me understand like what you've learned from
- 11:43Speaker 3: that and how you've grown from that and who you
- 11:44Speaker 3: are today. The show knows enough about you to know
- 11:47Speaker 3: if you've actually grown from this or not. I'm not
- 11:51Speaker 3: saying that you know, mistakes don't happen. They do. And
- 11:55Speaker 3: I'm not saying that people that have made mistakes and
- 11:56Speaker 3: grown from those mistakes should not end up on the show.
- 12:00Speaker 3: I mean, look at Zach Clark for example, right, I mean,
- 12:03Speaker 3: the dude there's a great example of somebody has a
- 12:06Speaker 3: really bad and hard pass and has said, hey, I
- 12:10Speaker 3: need to learn from this, I need to grow from this,
- 12:11Speaker 3: and I'm gonna help others do that. Zak Clark should
- 12:13Speaker 3: one hundred percent beyond the show. He is a representative
- 12:17Speaker 3: of how we transform as humans. However, Devin and I
- 12:22Speaker 3: would I mean, I would say I would love to
- 12:24Speaker 3: find a way that he's represented growth, But nothing about
- 12:28Speaker 3: his behavior from the time of the breakup with Jin
- 12:32Speaker 3: to now has shown that he's grown from this. The
- 12:34Speaker 3: show knew that they know him. So how does he
- 12:39Speaker 3: get through the cracks here?
- 12:41Speaker 2: I have really no idea, Ashley.
- 12:43Speaker 3: Can we go as far as to say that they
- 12:45Speaker 3: set gin up?
- 12:46Speaker 2: You think that that they were like they started this
- 12:49Speaker 2: season and they thought this guy is going to get
- 12:51Speaker 2: really far and we don't want a happy ending for her.
- 12:55Speaker 3: I actually don't think they ever expected Devin to get
- 12:57Speaker 3: as far as he did. I think I think if
- 12:59Speaker 3: we talked to them, they'd be like, yeah, we didn't
- 13:02Speaker 3: think that was go through. We've had some issues, you know,
- 13:08Speaker 3: as you know in the last few years where the
- 13:10Speaker 3: Bachelor's had controversy and you know, some were talked about
- 13:15Speaker 3: than others. We've had contestants go through controversy, some were
- 13:17Speaker 3: talked about than others. I don't know what to do
- 13:21Speaker 3: with this information other than say, we've said it before,
- 13:24Speaker 3: and casting has had people come on where their background
- 13:28Speaker 3: has either been you know, had a racial you know,
- 13:33Speaker 3: racist bias to it. They have come out and there
- 13:38Speaker 3: has been you know, records reported post them on the
- 13:43Speaker 3: show that people have talked about this should not ever happen,
- 13:49Speaker 3: Like what is going on?
- 13:50Speaker 1: Right?
- 13:50Speaker 2: Like?
- 13:51Speaker 3: How is casting letting these people get through? This season
- 13:54Speaker 3: had and not all of them have been proven true,
- 13:56Speaker 3: but this season has had We won't mention names because
- 13:59Speaker 3: they have not been proven true. This season had multiple contestants.
- 14:04Speaker 3: In fact, I would say more than four who when
- 14:08Speaker 3: you look into their backstory, people are coming out fairly
- 14:13Speaker 3: valid sources saying this is this guy is not good news.
- 14:18Speaker 3: So what happened this season with Jen we're casting? Either
- 14:21Speaker 3: just put turned a blind eye to any background check,
- 14:26Speaker 3: or they didn't do them in general, or they were
- 14:29Speaker 3: negligent and just said, yeah, you know what, I see
- 14:31Speaker 3: the background check, but like you're good.
- 14:33Speaker 2: They have to like hurry through this casting or something.
- 14:36Speaker 2: Did they did the Golden Bachelor set them back? I mean,
- 14:39Speaker 2: I'm not I'm not even being sarcastic here. They really
- 14:43Speaker 2: had a full schedule and they were filming The Golden Bachelor. Yeah,
- 14:47Speaker 2: the Golden Bachelor. Sorry, if I s a bachelor the
- 14:50Speaker 2: Golden Bachelor around the time that like casting would have
- 14:53Speaker 2: taken place.
- 14:56Speaker 3: So I don't know.
- 14:57Speaker 2: I mean there's somebody, there's one person that's like in
- 14:59Speaker 2: charge to background checks though, so that just doesn't make sense,
- 15:02Speaker 2: like that that's their job, their sole job. I think.
- 15:05Speaker 3: Sure, this is also you guys just.
- 15:07Speaker 2: A throw in there. I'm reading this reality Steve article
- 15:09Speaker 2: more thoroughly. And yeah he had a DWI too.
- 15:14Speaker 3: Yeah, it's it's not he doesn't have a clean record.
- 15:17Speaker 3: If it. But if this now the standard, like what
- 15:20Speaker 3: is what is not allowed on the show? If this
- 15:24Speaker 3: is all out on the show, then what is you know,
- 15:26Speaker 3: what is not allowed?
- 15:27Speaker 2: Uh?
- 15:28Speaker 3: Typically, I don't love to force anybody's hand to speak,
- 15:33Speaker 3: because there's a lot of topics that people maybe just
- 15:36Speaker 3: don't aren't. I like people to talk and say stuff
- 15:39Speaker 3: publicly when they're in the know and when they're knowledgeable,
- 15:42Speaker 3: and when they're coming from a place that they actually have,
- 15:45Speaker 3: they feel like they have a genuine, genuine and authentic
- 15:48Speaker 3: word to share.
- 16:00Speaker 2: This is what a source close to production is telling
- 16:03Speaker 2: Entertainment Weekly. We take the safety of our contestants very seriously,
- 16:08Speaker 2: and we make every effort to conduct through diligence as
- 16:11Speaker 2: exhaustive as our vetting process. Is this projective order to
- 16:14Speaker 2: not service in our searches.
- 16:18Speaker 3: Huh what do you what background checks are you doing?
- 16:21Speaker 2: Then reality Steve said that he like has this information
- 16:25Speaker 2: confirmed through Louisiana Police.
- 16:29Speaker 3: Yeah, third party that I want to talk about with Jen.
- 16:32Speaker 3: If I was Jin, I'd be fuming right now. Fuming
- 16:37Speaker 3: now granted, I'm I'm also you know, she's on Dance
- 16:41Speaker 3: with the Stars. I'm hoping she's you know, healed and
- 16:46Speaker 3: recovered and realizing that she dodged bullet here and that
- 16:50Speaker 3: she's like actually going to be in a really good
- 16:51Speaker 3: place and that you know, this breakup yes hard and tough,
- 16:58Speaker 3: and then the traumatizing moment of having to watch it
- 17:01Speaker 3: back on national television with him sitting next to her.
- 17:04Speaker 3: All that to be said. If I'm jin, I'm like
- 17:07Speaker 3: really mad.
- 17:08Speaker 2: It's so mad. I don't even know how they can't
- 17:13Speaker 2: make it up to her, Like even this we didn't
- 17:16Speaker 2: sing with the stars, it doesn't make it up to her.
- 17:19Speaker 3: No. I mean again, okay, Jen, We'll make it up
- 17:21Speaker 3: to you by spending the next three months of your
- 17:23Speaker 3: life on a show for us as well.
- 17:26Speaker 2: I know. And it's like it's not like they could
- 17:28Speaker 2: be like we'll have you on Paradise and like, well
- 17:30Speaker 2: make sure that you find the love of your life.
- 17:31Speaker 2: It's like she's like, I'm not putting that trust into
- 17:33Speaker 2: you guys again, And I'm sorry. I just also want
- 17:35Speaker 2: to correct myself. It wasn't the police that reality. Steve
- 17:39Speaker 2: has it confirmed by He has spoken to a few
- 17:41Speaker 2: lawyers in Louisiana who, like obviously, can go into the
- 17:44Speaker 2: legal records of Louisiana and.
- 17:48Speaker 3: Yeah, Ashley again, I have a This show has been
- 17:53Speaker 3: so good to me in so many ways, and I
- 17:55Speaker 3: always want the show to be its best. Yeah, this
- 18:00Speaker 3: is a very This is just a really dark spot
- 18:07Speaker 3: and time for the show, and I hope that they
- 18:09Speaker 3: approach it. I hope this doesn't just like get pushed
- 18:12Speaker 3: under the rug and moved on from like other things
- 18:16Speaker 3: have happened, you know with the show. This for the
- 18:19Speaker 3: sake of our trust in the show as fans and
- 18:24Speaker 3: as viewers and as past contestants, like this is you know,
- 18:28Speaker 3: I take you know. I want to know that the
- 18:31Speaker 3: show does protect their leads and that the people on
- 18:35Speaker 3: the show are people who are ready for love and
- 18:40Speaker 3: also a good match for the lead. So the show
- 18:46Speaker 3: I hope takes this very serious and that this isn't
- 18:51Speaker 3: something they just say, yeah, you know what we want, Sorry,
- 18:55Speaker 3: we won't even confront it. I want to know what
- 18:58Speaker 3: they're doing where their background checks do pull up burglary,
- 19:03Speaker 3: vandalism and restraining orders.
- 19:06Speaker 2: I also just want to say, like I'm gonna get
- 19:09Speaker 2: the benefit of the doubt and say that it truly
- 19:12Speaker 2: this is the issue with whoever is doing the background
- 19:15Speaker 2: checks I don't think that they let him on knowing this,
- 19:17Speaker 2: I really do That's that would be nutty and that
- 19:20Speaker 2: would make them look bad, and they don't want to
- 19:22Speaker 2: look bad.
- 19:23Speaker 3: I don't know. Yeah, you're right. I mean I don't
- 19:26Speaker 3: know how to.
- 19:26Speaker 2: Even like because they are had issues in the past
- 19:29Speaker 2: about like letting so and so on. Like remember Lincoln
- 19:32Speaker 2: from Becca season, he had some X that was like
- 19:36Speaker 2: this is like this guy's not good news, kind of
- 19:38Speaker 2: creepy whatever, And I just that was every time they
- 19:42Speaker 2: have like a casting issue, like where somebody has had
- 19:46Speaker 2: some sort of record, it always makes them like not
- 19:49Speaker 2: look that great and people make a big deal out
- 19:53Speaker 2: of out of course. And I just think that with this,
- 19:57Speaker 2: like this is like the heaviest of all issues that
- 20:00Speaker 2: I've heard of from the show, and I just don't
- 20:03Speaker 2: think that they would want to have anything to do
- 20:05Speaker 2: with it. So I just don't think it was got
- 20:08Speaker 2: That's shocking.
- 20:10Speaker 3: That's shocking to me. If reality Steve can find it,
- 20:13Speaker 3: I don't know how the show couldn't find it.
- 20:16Speaker 2: What if he gave him gave them wrong info, what
- 20:21Speaker 2: if he like gave it Bronx as a security number?
- 20:24Speaker 2: This No, like that would come up too, like this
- 20:27Speaker 2: is the number of so and so.
- 20:29Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't know. Ash, it's just not good. It's
- 20:32Speaker 3: not good, and I feel bad for jin as viewers.
- 20:38Speaker 3: I'm I'm on edge a little bit, like I don't
- 20:42Speaker 3: even know how to like really put words to it.
- 20:44Speaker 3: But it's it's that feeling of do I have to
- 20:47Speaker 3: now be not only watch the show and celebrate, criticize,
- 20:53Speaker 3: do all that stuff to all these contestants, but also
- 20:55Speaker 3: be a little concerned about their background story. If like
- 20:58Speaker 3: they're actually capable of entering into this relationship on national television,
- 21:05Speaker 3: that's that's a heavy lift one, you know, one that
- 21:09Speaker 3: I don't know how to answer. But it's just not good.
- 21:13Speaker 3: And I don't know how it slipped through the cracks,
- 21:14Speaker 3: and if it did, if we're going to give them
- 21:16Speaker 3: the benefit of the doubt, which I'm not ready to
- 21:19Speaker 3: necessarily do, because I just don't know how they were
- 21:22Speaker 3: so negligent in finding it.
- 21:25Speaker 2: Wouldn't it be even more negligent to put them on knowing?
- 21:29Speaker 3: That was My point is, like, I don't there's I
- 21:31Speaker 3: don't know, there's nothing good, Like there's no excuse here
- 21:36Speaker 3: outside of the failure maybe of the person doing the
- 21:38Speaker 3: background check and that person needing to be like asked
- 21:41Speaker 3: why and what happened. I just know that from my
- 21:46Speaker 3: time for me personally, they knew everything about me everything,
- 21:52Speaker 3: And I don't know how at this point in the
- 21:56Speaker 3: seasons of The Bachelor they don't contin you to know
- 22:00Speaker 3: everything about these contestants because, like you said, they don't
- 22:03Speaker 3: want this, this controversy is not good for this show.
- 22:07Speaker 2: Well, we should ask some contestants that have currently gone
- 22:11Speaker 2: through the whole process whether or not they like met
- 22:14Speaker 2: with that For us, we like met with somebody who
- 22:17Speaker 2: to me felt like a criminal background person, like that
- 22:21Speaker 2: was their sole job.
- 22:22Speaker 3: Right.
- 22:23Speaker 2: Maybe they've left this in charge to somebody like it's
- 22:28Speaker 2: always been assistant or something. Oh it's always been a
- 22:31Speaker 2: third party. There you go. So maybe they are doing
- 22:33Speaker 2: it internally now and it really did slip through because
- 22:36Speaker 2: they're not professional.
- 22:38Speaker 3: That's a bad decision. Every background check I've ever had
- 22:42Speaker 3: to receive in my life, at any level, this would
- 22:46Speaker 3: show up on like this isn't this, This isn't this
- 22:51Speaker 3: isn't a like a There's not a lot of different
- 22:53Speaker 3: versions of background checks. Now, there are a few. There's
- 22:56Speaker 3: state background checks, there's federal background checks, like there's there's stuff.
- 23:01Speaker 3: You know, it's different like criteria for how in depth
- 23:05Speaker 3: you go. But this would have shown up well.
- 23:07Speaker 2: I mean it does say that the restraining order was sealed,
- 23:10Speaker 2: but the burglary should have been there.
- 23:12Speaker 3: Yeah, goodness, gracious Devin continuing to stay on the headlines. Uh,
- 23:19Speaker 3: and at some point he won't wrong. I was.
- 23:22Speaker 2: I was so I'm so embarrassed. I was swindled by him.
- 23:26Speaker 3: Goodness, Ashley, I have.
- 23:27Speaker 2: A really bad picker sometimes when it comes to show guys.
- 23:30Speaker 3: Huh. Yeah, I do feel like I want to like
- 23:34Speaker 3: kind of tell you I told you so, because I
- 23:35Speaker 3: feel like i've I'm usually semi on top of this stuff,
- 23:39Speaker 3: like oddly, like I am like, hey, I don't know
- 23:41Speaker 3: about this dude, and you're like, no, he's great.
- 23:44Speaker 2: It all started with Jeff Home, Guys. I loved Jeff Home.
- 23:50Speaker 2: I thought he was absolutely the dreamiest, most perfect little
- 23:54Speaker 2: boyfriend she could have ever picked. And then we've heard
- 23:58Speaker 2: so much otherwise. Anyway, Well, at.
- 24:00Speaker 3: Least you did well in your own personal life. Hey,
- 24:03Speaker 3: we'll say this not good, nothing good about it. I
- 24:10Speaker 3: am I'm sad, as I said for jin the show
- 24:16Speaker 3: needs to This sounds like something we've said so often,
- 24:19Speaker 3: and like typically it has meaning and depth, but like
- 24:25Speaker 3: the show needs to do better. We need to know
- 24:27Speaker 3: and the leads need to know that this stuff will
- 24:29Speaker 3: not be a problem because in your dating life, if
- 24:32Speaker 3: you are outside of the show, you would have asked
- 24:36Speaker 3: the questions or you're like to get to the point
- 24:39Speaker 3: where you're like, yeah, this isn't good. And because you're
- 24:43Speaker 3: on the show and you aren't on social media and
- 24:45Speaker 3: you don't have access to the Internet, and you can't
- 24:47Speaker 3: research these people and you can't google the person that
- 24:50Speaker 3: you've been dating for a few weeks, you leave it
- 24:53Speaker 3: up to the show to do that for you, because
- 24:56Speaker 3: they take that away from you. And if you're going
- 24:58Speaker 3: to take it away from me and these contestants, then
- 25:01Speaker 3: we got to hope that you've done the work to
- 25:05Speaker 3: make sure that these people are a good fit. That's
- 25:08Speaker 3: the breaking news. That's all we got. There's not a
- 25:10Speaker 3: lot else to say about it other than it's not good.
- 25:13Speaker 2: I can't wait to hear from John.
- 25:15Speaker 3: Yeah, goodness, and I hope we get to Anyways, until
- 25:19Speaker 3: next time, I haven't been I've been Ashley.
