- 0:00[SPEAKER_00]: Jacksonville Jair Wars fans welcome in to do vault daily presented by jing Jack.com and fuel by brass tax coffee.
- 0:05[SPEAKER_00]: I'm Jordan Delugo.
- 0:06[SPEAKER_00]: It's Monday, August 3rd and your Jacksonville Jair Wars just had their first training camp practice with full pads on and the physicality, no question.
- 0:16[SPEAKER_00]: It was there.
- 0:18[SPEAKER_00]: It was upgraded in a big way, just energy, physicality level.
- 0:22[SPEAKER_00]: I think you could tell that guys were excited to get out there and hit.
- 0:26[SPEAKER_00]: You add some 11 on 11.
- 0:27[SPEAKER_00]: You add some one on ones between the offensive line and defensive line.
- 0:30[SPEAKER_00]: We got to watch, which is always a great time out there.
- 0:36[SPEAKER_00]: I would say definitely some takeaways from that, but overall, I mean, it was intense.
- 0:43[SPEAKER_00]: It was intentional.
- 0:46[SPEAKER_00]: and it was quick.
- 0:47[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, they were done practicing at 10 o'clock.
- 0:49[SPEAKER_00]: So it was a quick first day of padded practice.
- 0:53[SPEAKER_00]: You want to get the guys energy level up, the physicality going, but then you don't want to go too long in that sort of environment on the first day.
- 1:03[SPEAKER_00]: That's clearly their thinking there.
- 1:06[SPEAKER_00]: Tomorrow there will be full pads, and then Wednesday will be a day off,
- 1:14[SPEAKER_00]: Sunday day off and then the next week is going to be joint practices in a preseason game so we're getting their folks excited to get into this one.
- 1:22[SPEAKER_00]: Just going to kind of recap everything I saw out there today and then we'll do some standout performers and takeaways later on today.
- 1:31[SPEAKER_00]: I really appreciate y'all being here.
- 1:32[SPEAKER_00]: If you do enjoy the content all jags all the time, please like and subscribe.
- 1:38[SPEAKER_00]: Trevor Lawrence will start with the quarterback and then get to some of the other stuff, uh, not a ton of passes.
- 1:43[SPEAKER_00]: Again, an abbreviated practice and a lot of emphasis on running the ball with the pads coming on, uh, and that's been the case really for all of Campso far heavy emphasis on running the ball.
- 1:54[SPEAKER_00]: But, uh, Trevor Lawrence was five of seven in team.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_00]: And there was a highlight
- 2:05[SPEAKER_00]: Cause first throw was a completion short to liquid Allen.
- 2:09[SPEAKER_00]: Second throw was a deep shot to Parker Washington who was open.
- 2:14[SPEAKER_00]: And I think you could say Parker Washington should have caught it.
- 2:18[SPEAKER_00]: And also, we're talking about a recap.
- 2:22[SPEAKER_00]: It was raining during this time.
- 2:24[SPEAKER_00]: It started raining a little bit.
- 2:25[SPEAKER_00]: It was actually like a cool, misty rainy morning, which is like,
- 2:30[SPEAKER_00]: August 3rd unbelievable, you would think it would be hot, steamy if it's raining, but no, it was actually kind of cool out there this morning, which was nice, enjoyable for myself.
- 2:40[SPEAKER_00]: But he tried to hit Parker Washington deep, who was open.
- 2:44[SPEAKER_00]: I think the ball needed to have more on it.
- 2:47[SPEAKER_00]: I think if it did have more on it, it would have been an easy catch for Parker Washington.
- 2:50[SPEAKER_00]: However, it still seemed like Parker probably should have been able to haul it in.
- 2:55[SPEAKER_00]: He had plenty of space.
- 2:57[SPEAKER_00]: It looked like he kind of missed judge where the ball was going.
- 3:00[SPEAKER_00]: And again, if it was a little bit of a better ball, wouldn't have been a problem.
- 3:03[SPEAKER_00]: So just a little missed connection there.
- 3:07[SPEAKER_00]: On the next one, Parker Washington had a great contested grab.
- 3:11[SPEAKER_00]: Very good ball placement, good throw, Parker Washington able to go up and get it.
- 3:18[SPEAKER_00]: Completion to Britain strange Josh Heinz Allen maybe would have had a sack on that one you could say that on most plays Quite honestly, but Nice completion of Britain strange and then the highlight Throwing catch of the day a One-handed shot deep to Brian.
- 3:35[SPEAKER_00]: I said one-handed.
- 3:36[SPEAKER_00]: It was a deep shot to Brian Thomas Jr. who hold it in one-handed
- 3:41[SPEAKER_00]: over the shoulder.
- 3:42[SPEAKER_00]: Really nice stuff there from BTJ and a good throw from Trevor Lawrence.
- 3:48[SPEAKER_00]: Try to hit Parker Washington deep again.
- 3:50[SPEAKER_00]: Looks like this time it looked like Trevor just missed him.
- 3:55[SPEAKER_00]: Parker had like dive for it, couldn't quite get to it.
- 3:58[SPEAKER_00]: So that connection, you'd like to see a little bit more consistent down the field.
- 4:03[SPEAKER_00]: And then his final throw the day was a completion to Jacobi Myers who had a nice catch and run after the catch.
- 4:09[SPEAKER_00]: So not a lot to speak of with the passing game with the starters here today.
- 4:14[SPEAKER_00]: Five of seven again, no interceptions, no touchdowns.
- 4:19[SPEAKER_00]: Probably could have had a touchdown.
- 4:21[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, if he hit Parker Washington and Stride on that second throw we talked about, that's six.
- 4:26[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it is.
- 4:29[SPEAKER_00]: But more of a day for running for hitting all that stuff, but Lawrence now, exiting day five of Jaguar's training camp, is 42 of 66 with eight touchdowns, two interceptions.
- 4:41[SPEAKER_00]: Again, I always, always provide the caveat.
- 4:43[SPEAKER_00]: I don't really think it matters all that much.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_00]: The counting stats in training camp.
- 4:49[SPEAKER_00]: There's a variety of reasons.
- 4:51[SPEAKER_00]: For one, you're not always going against starters.
- 4:53[SPEAKER_00]: For two, you're trying to figure out what you can get away with, what you can't.
- 4:59[SPEAKER_00]: You're forcing some balls in there that you might not always try to force during the regular season.
- 5:07[SPEAKER_00]: There's just a lot of variance with what you're trying to do.
- 5:10[SPEAKER_00]: So, I wouldn't read too much into it, but I know people want it, so there it is.
- 5:17[SPEAKER_00]: ventral Miller getting into team 11 on 11 again a lot of run in the ball ventral Miller had a really nice run stuff early on first run of the day he was in there
- 5:27[SPEAKER_00]: Like when Alan followed that up with a solid run of his own, getting to at least the second level, Chris Rodriguez.
- 5:34[SPEAKER_00]: His first time in pads for the Jaguars, that's like where you can start to see Chris Rodriguez is real impact because he is such a physical runner, difficult to tackle.
- 5:44[SPEAKER_00]: He had a really strong run where he met Caleb Ransal at the second level and Ransal ended up on the ground and I was sitting there thinking like, you know, Ransal's a really good tackleer.
- 5:56[SPEAKER_00]: He's probably never had to tackle somebody quite like Chris Rodriguez.
- 6:00[SPEAKER_00]: Honestly.
- 6:02[SPEAKER_00]: He didn't have the benefit of preseason last year where he could get out there and get his feet wet with all that stuff.
- 6:08[SPEAKER_00]: Chris Rodriguez is a powerful runner.
- 6:11[SPEAKER_00]: You did see Josh Hind's Allen, Tawson Tanner Cozuel, that's kind of a little bit of a mismatch in the blocking department.
- 6:17[SPEAKER_00]: Cozuel, trying to develop as a blocker, trying to get stronger, all that stuff, but that's a process.
- 6:22[SPEAKER_00]: Josh Hind's Allen, locked and loaded ready to go, one of the best defensive ends in the game.
- 6:26[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so that was a bit of a mismatch.
- 6:32[SPEAKER_00]: Chris Rodriguez, he, uh, I mentioned how to had a nice day overall, run on the football.
- 6:38[SPEAKER_00]: I think for the Jaguars, and that's when you start to see his impact a little bit, but like, don't take anything away from Basel to neither, like, tootin was also, uh, play and well out there today in my opinion, I think,
- 6:54[SPEAKER_00]: At this point, I do think Tune is one A and Rodriguez is one B, and it's a situational thing, too.
- 7:00[SPEAKER_00]: But I just think if you're talking about the total volume of snaps, I think Tune would be the one A with Rodriguez being the one B. Antonio Johnson, he likes the physicality too.
- 7:12[SPEAKER_00]: He took DJ Dallas out.
- 7:13[SPEAKER_00]: DJ Dallas did have a nice run before, I mean, there was like six or seven yards, and then Antonio Johnson's there and kind of
- 7:20[SPEAKER_00]: pops him and Dallas ends up on the ground there a little bit.
- 7:24[SPEAKER_00]: Tanner Cozy, I mentioned the struggles with blocking a Josh Hines Allen, which no surprise, but he continues to catch passes during team.
- 7:33[SPEAKER_00]: Awesome for him.
- 7:34[SPEAKER_00]: Joey Agalard, a couple of the miscues today.
- 7:37[SPEAKER_00]: Joey Agalard had a fumbled snap of the line that was while it was raining.
- 7:42[SPEAKER_00]: Um, Bartlett, the linebacker of the Jaguar signed yesterday, who, uh, he replaced Ben Patterson on the roster, the wide receiver of Ben Patterson was number 83, and I noticed out there today that the wide receiver, under out of free agent Boyd, who was wearing 49, really weird number for a wide receiver, has now switched to 83, but Bartlett had an off sides on a punt block.
- 8:05[SPEAKER_00]: And then Austin, Tramil, also muffed a punt.
- 8:07[SPEAKER_00]: Tramil continues to make plays on offense, but he did muff a punt today, so that should be noted.
- 8:14[SPEAKER_00]: Trevor Paynea has made multiple nice plays.
- 8:16[SPEAKER_00]: There was one today where he was thrown the ball, why Rookie White received her own draft for agent, was thrown the ball, and it was a bad throw.
- 8:25[SPEAKER_00]: Couldn't get his feet down in bounds.
- 8:26[SPEAKER_00]: But he made a great effort to actually catch the ball, and I think got one foot down.
- 8:30[SPEAKER_00]: It just kind of showed,
- 8:32[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that wouldn't have counted, but he made a good play on a really poor ball and then he just he's making play.
- 8:37[SPEAKER_00]: So that's something to keep in on as a potential like could he be a rosterable player could he be A practice squad candidate that could eventually be a rosterable player.
- 8:51[SPEAKER_00]: That's kind of my thought process there.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_00]: Then Wartham number zero, the undrafted for agent rookie Y to see for as well.
- 8:56[SPEAKER_00]: He's been impressed.
- 8:57[SPEAKER_00]: He's like quick, strong, but diminutive, good football player.
- 9:02[SPEAKER_00]: Kenny H. Lovely had a nice pass break up.
- 9:06[SPEAKER_00]: Can't remember who that was against now.
- 9:07[SPEAKER_00]: It wasn't one of the starters.
- 9:10[SPEAKER_00]: I can't remember, but that was a good pass break of where he had to kind of punch it out.
- 9:16[SPEAKER_00]: And then,
- 9:17[SPEAKER_00]: talking about some of the one-on-ones with the offensive line in the defensive line.
- 9:21[SPEAKER_00]: Anton Harrison was kicking butt, and one-on-ones against Josh Hines Allen, against Danny Strigger.
- 9:29[SPEAKER_00]: Like I would say, the Josh Hines Allen ones were like stalemates kind of, Danny Strigger.
- 9:35[SPEAKER_00]: You could see the difference between Anton Harris and I think is a probal level tackle and Danny Sturgo, who is fighting to be Edge 3, type of guy.
- 9:44[SPEAKER_00]: And just like the talent level, Sturgo's never gonna be a one-on-one dominant pass-rusher.
- 9:50[SPEAKER_00]: I think that he's a really good base player.
- 9:52[SPEAKER_00]: I think he's good on games and things up front.
- 9:55[SPEAKER_00]: He's high effort, high motor, but Anton was given on the business there.
- 10:00[SPEAKER_00]: Rook or Roura Roura.
- 10:02[SPEAKER_00]: doing a really good job both in team of the last several days and in one on one's today of creating pressure winning one-on-one's
- 10:11[SPEAKER_00]: getting into the back field.
- 10:12[SPEAKER_00]: I think you could say the same thing for Eric Armstead.
- 10:15[SPEAKER_00]: Trayvon Walker had some ups and downs in one-on-ones, but more up and down looked really good.
- 10:21[SPEAKER_00]: Josh Hines Allen won some reps for sure.
- 10:23[SPEAKER_00]: So I was actor if he went in a little bit.
- 10:27[SPEAKER_00]: It was kind of difficult to see everybody because you had like the ones and twos on the closer field to the building and then the further field you had the players that are a little bit further down on the depth chart.
- 10:42[SPEAKER_00]: a lot of physicality and tensionality as well.
- 10:45[SPEAKER_00]: So I think it was a practice that was just kind of that first padded practice.
- 10:52[SPEAKER_00]: They didn't want things to get too heated.
- 10:55[SPEAKER_00]: They didn't want to spend too much time out there today.
- 10:58[SPEAKER_00]: And they're going to probably have a pretty lengthy practice tomorrow if I had to guess.
- 11:03[SPEAKER_00]: And then Thursday, Friday, Saturday, probably really heaten up trying to get ready for joint practices
- 11:12[SPEAKER_00]: Really appreciate y'all tuning in.
- 11:13[SPEAKER_00]: If you enjoy the content, you're a please like and subscribe.
- 11:16[SPEAKER_00]: And I'll say that high button.
- 11:17[SPEAKER_00]: Y'all is a good one.
