- 0:01This is the truth of the wheel of one's life:
- 0:03if you can simply embrace where you are,
- 0:06that energy itself is the energy that will help this wheel continue to move.
- 0:20Hello and welcome back to Remember Why You Are Here,
- 0:24a podcast for seekers and sensitives where you can relax, receive,
- 0:28reconnect to yourself and remember the most important thing of all:
- 0:32why you're here. Where I live,
- 0:35we are just entering the time of the fall equinox,
- 0:39and it's one of my favorite times of the year.
- 0:42At all of the equinoxes and the solstices, I go outside.
- 0:46Nowadays, I'm doing it with my daughter.
- 0:48I go outside and I collect flowers and things that are in bloom,
- 0:52bring them to the outdoor altar,
- 0:54and I always love seeing how vivid the colors of these
- 0:59last flowers are. Gathering up the zinnias,
- 1:03the last sunflowers, the anemones in the garden,
- 1:07and just seeing the beauty of this last gasp of color
- 1:12and really deeply appreciating this feeling of the wheel turning
- 1:17yet again.
- 1:18I've always really loved and resonated with this Celtic
- 1:22concept of the Wheel of the Year,
- 1:25this concept that everything moves in the cycle
- 1:29and part of the great celebration of being here on this planet is
- 1:34being willing to slow down enough to feel that shift,
- 1:38to feel that turning. And the fall equinox to me always has such a specific
- 1:43feel to it.
- 1:45I really can feel the shift into the autumn season,
- 1:50the coolness in the air, the crispness,
- 1:53the fading of summer into fall. It's such an invitation,
- 1:58not only deeper into the season, but into self-reflection,
- 2:01into this time of self-reflection of one's own
- 2:05life: where am I in the wheel of my existence,
- 2:09and what might be coming up next?
- 2:11Fall is such a time of nostalgia and reflection and planting
- 2:16seeds literally and figuratively for the future.
- 2:20And so I felt inspired to share this video that I made before I created the
- 2:24podcast called The Wheel of One's Life, and I never got around to sharing it,
- 2:29so I was excited about sharing it now as one of our
- 2:32episodes. So in this episode,
- 2:35we're going to touch on what the wheel of one's life is,
- 2:39how to be aware of where you are in the wheel of your life,
- 2:43what that means, and how, when we can orient to that,
- 2:47we can then know what might be coming up next.
- 2:51So cozy up as we step into autumn and step into this
- 2:56understanding of the wheel of our own lives.
- 3:01We all have seasons in our lives, times that we're up or down,
- 3:05in the depths of winter, or in the height of summer. In the Celtic tradition,
- 3:10we call this the Wheel of the Year or the Wheel of one's life.
- 3:14And the truth is, just by embracing the wheel of your life,
- 3:18this is how you find your center,
- 3:21and this video is a guide to help you understand where you are in your life,
- 3:24what season you're currently inhabiting in your life,
- 3:27and how to graduate to the next phase in your life while being able to
- 3:32embrace this moment with peace and wellbeing.
- 3:37Wheels are some of the most ancient symbols on earth.
- 3:40Pictographs of wheels going back thousands of years were often thought to depict
- 3:44the sun or a sun calendar.
- 3:47The image of a wheel also figures prominently in many world religions.
- 3:52For example, in Buddhism, there's the wheel of Dharma,
- 3:55which both symbolizes the wheel of samsara, of birth and rebirth,
- 3:59but also this concept of rapid spiritual change.
- 4:02Being able to go with this wheel,
- 4:05to experience the power of birth and rebirth,
- 4:08and to ultimately transcend the wheel altogether.
- 4:11This is called coming to the center of one's wheel.
- 4:15There's also a wheel that figures in the Bible.
- 4:17Ezekiel refers to this enigmatic, heavenly, wheel within the wheel,
- 4:21representing perhaps among other things, the universe and our place within it.
- 4:26The wheel is also a symbol in the traditional Waite-Rider tarot deck.
- 4:30So the wheel closes out the journey of the Major Arcana,
- 4:34and it is about the ending of one journey,
- 4:37and the beginning of another.
- 4:40Wheels have ancient symbology and meaning,
- 4:42and just by connecting into the symbol of the wheel,
- 4:45we can understand our own lifetimes as a wheel.
- 4:49Just like the seasons and the cyclical nature of
- 4:52life, everything in nature moves in this cycle.
- 4:56Everything in your life is on a wheel, a seasonal cycle.
- 5:00So no matter where you are in your life,
- 5:02you can know that wherever you are is temporary,
- 5:06that it is just a part of this wheel, and before you know it,
- 5:09the turn will come and the next phase will arrive.
- 5:13Embracing the seasonality of your life is how you realize that you are
- 5:18never stuck. You are always moving.
- 5:21The next era is always coming into being.
- 5:24It can help to tune into which season you're in now, because just by doing so,
- 5:29you will know which season may be coming up next for you.
- 5:35So wherever you are in your life right now,
- 5:36I invite you to tune into these qualities or characteristics of the four seasons
- 5:40and ask yourself, where are you in the wheel of your life?
- 5:44Perhaps you're in a wintertime.
- 5:46Are you in a time where things feel like they're dissolving,
- 5:49where things are fallow, stuff isn't happening, you aren't going out,
- 5:54things are slowed down.
- 5:56This can be a time where depression is taking center stage or there's a lack.
- 6:01This is a winter of one's life and winter can be potent.
- 6:05Winter can be where we perceive the otherworld.
- 6:08It can be where we do the repair work necessary to be ready for the next phase
- 6:12of our life, which is spring.
- 6:14Are you in a moment where it feels like you're being bombarded by newness,
- 6:18where you feel vulnerable, unsure,
- 6:22where you feel naive or youthful-like you're starting out and you're not sure
- 6:26what you're doing and the intensity of that vulnerability can be overwhelming?
- 6:30You're probably in a spring of your life.
- 6:32You're probably in a time where you're beginning something entirely new.
- 6:36You're not going to feel like a beginner forever, but this is a potent moment.
- 6:39This is a moment where all the new seeds of your life are getting planted.
- 6:43Maybe you're in a summer moment.
- 6:46Are you in a time where everything just feels like it's totally at its height?
- 6:49Like you can't take on anymore? The busyness is just at its peak.
- 6:54Maybe you have a lot going on,
- 6:56you feel like you can't keep up with your to-do list. This is a summer time.
- 7:00This is a time of fire, of movement, of fullness,
- 7:05and this has its own beauty as well.
- 7:07There's only so much that we can reach our peak of busyness before things start
- 7:12to wane again. And you are setting so much in motion right now.
- 7:15You are setting the foundations so that you can be ready for fall.
- 7:19Maybe you're in a fall moment of your life,
- 7:22a moment where it feels like everything is up in the air,
- 7:25things are ending,
- 7:27but you don't know what's going to happen on the other side of that ending.
- 7:30Where things are starting to wane or disappear or transform or
- 7:34change before your eyes.
- 7:36Maybe you're in a time where you're really having to let go,
- 7:39let go of a job or let go of a partnership.
- 7:42Fall is a time of deep transition, but it's important,
- 7:46because this is how we prepare for the winter.
- 7:48We prepare for a time where our spirit can come back into stillness and
- 7:53peace and reconnect to an essential part of ourselves.
- 7:57So which season are you in in your life right now?
- 8:00I'd love to hear in the comment section below: Are you in a winter?
- 8:04Are you in a spring, a summer or a fall?
- 8:08And when you can embrace that,
- 8:10can you see how you are being prepared for the next journey in your life?
- 8:14Because this is the truth of the wheel of one's life. It always turns.
- 8:18You're never stuck, you're never stagnant.
- 8:21If you can simply embrace where you are,
- 8:23that energy itself is the energy that will help this wheel continue to move.
- 8:29And at the end of the day,
- 8:30what we really want is to be able to sit at the center of this wheel no matter
- 8:34where we are in our life, to sit at the center and observe,
- 8:38to embrace what is happening now,
- 8:40to embrace the power of this moment because this is where the change happens.
- 8:45So how do we do this? Well,
- 8:46the first thing is to really step into your observer mind:
- 8:50Can you step out of this situation and look at it from an outside perspective?
- 8:55Can you watch your own mind?
- 8:57This is where meditation practice comes in and is very helpful.
- 9:00Can you take at least five minutes every day to just watch the patterns that
- 9:05your mind goes into,
- 9:06to watch what you think about when you have a moment of quietude,
- 9:10maybe to watch what judgments you go to about yourself or about the world?
- 9:14This is all training yourself how to sit at the center of that wheel and
- 9:18observe your life. And that observation is what will help that wheel to move.
- 9:23Having a gratitude practice can also really help you step into this
- 9:27observational mode and help this wheel to move.
- 9:30What are you grateful for in your life?
- 9:32What are you grateful for in this season?
- 9:35There's always something to be grateful for in every season.
- 9:39Every season has its hardships and its challenges.
- 9:42But what is it about this season that you can actually find gratitude for,
- 9:46that is maybe bringing something to your life.
- 9:49Taking time at the end of each day to list just a couple things that you're
- 9:53grateful for. Even if it's something as simple as,
- 9:55I'm grateful for this comfy pillow behind me,
- 9:58or I'm grateful for the water that I drank today.
- 10:02I'm grateful for a hot shower.
- 10:04These simple things can help retrain your mind to see the
- 10:07gifts inherent to the stage that you're in. And when we see the gifts,
- 10:12that's when we graduate. And whenever you feel like you're truly stuck,
- 10:16take a moment and remember another time in your life where you felt like you
- 10:20were just going to stay in that season forever.
- 10:22Another time in your life where you felt like you couldn't envision what came
- 10:26next or that you thought you were going to be stuck forever.
- 10:29Think about that time now and then remember what happened when it shifted,
- 10:34when it changed, when the rest of your life came in,
- 10:37when the rest of your life began. Even then when you thought,
- 10:42I'm never going to get past this. I'm going to be stuck here forever,
- 10:44you can look back now and see how it was just a
- 10:47phase. Everything is temporary.
- 10:50The moment that you're in right now is temporary as well.
- 10:52The wheel of one's life continues to turn.
- 10:57And our role is just to get comfortable with that movement,
- 11:00to get comfortable with the cyclical nature of life, and to trust, to know,
- 11:05that when we can step into this role of observing,
- 11:08embracing and accepting that that is the very energy that will help us
- 11:13graduate and step into the next season of our life.
- 11:17The seasons have so much to teach us,
- 11:19and I'm so passionate about connecting with the natural rhythms of the living
- 11:23world in order to tune into that.
- 11:26So if you want more content like this and to stay connected to the living world
- 11:30in a way that really informs your journey and gives you support along the way,
- 11:34I'd love to see you in any of my courses.

- 11:41direct connections with the living world and find support,

- 12:06messages like this and support for your journey.
- 12:09So thank you so much for being here and many blessings on whatever season you're
- 12:13in right now. So after listening to this video,
- 12:18I'm super curious. Where are you in the wheel of your life?
- 12:22If you want to leave me a voice message and let me know,
- 12:25head over to asiasuler.com/remember.
- 12:29I know when I first recorded this video,
- 12:32I felt very much like I was at the end of a long winter in my life.
- 12:37It felt like maybe just the very beginning of spring,
- 12:41like maybe just the snowdrops are up.And now, listening to it now,
- 12:46it's fascinating to see how I am in a different season.
- 12:49I feel now way more so like I am in a summer
- 12:53of my life. And I just think that that's so cool.
- 12:57It's so neat to take this moment to reflect on that.
- 13:00And it's such a good reminder for me that when we take that time to really think
- 13:04on it and reflect on it, it gives us so much feedback and so much support,
- 13:08not only where we are, but how to meet this time,
- 13:11and how to move with grace through the season that we're currently in,
- 13:16and so we can meet what comes next.
- 13:19So wherever you are in the season of your life, may there be beauty.
- 13:23May you be met by everything that you need to
- 13:28walk through this time with wisdom, with courage, with grace,
- 13:32and may it show you and remind you of the most important thing of all,
- 13:37why you're here.
