- 2:04today. I've got another kind of cool
- 2:07story. I want to not really a story but
- 2:09a neat bit of information to go over in Norse mythology and the
- 2:14lore. And then he even re in general,
- 2:16we hear about things pertaining to fate specifically The three
- 2:24figures of kind of Fate as you will something that similarly is
- 2:33mirroring what you would see. In Greek mythology, the sisters
- 2:38of Fate right in Norse lore and a Norse mythology, we have the
- 2:42norns and I wanted to talk a little bit about the norns and
- 2:47I've got a little excerpt from a book here called epic Tales
- 2:51Norse tails. And or Norse myths and tales.
- 2:56It comes out of the Publishing Company flame tree.
- 2:59So flame tree publishing has released this.
- 3:02You can find it at Barnes and Noble.
- 3:04You probably find it on Amazon, but if you just search epic
- 3:07Tales, Norse myths, and tales By Flame tree publishing.
- 3:12You should be able to find it in your local bookstore or online
- 3:16platform. It's a really neat source of the
- 3:18stories of the of the of the mythology aspects of Of things.
- 3:24So does it really go over the world view of human resource
- 3:28much, but it does deliver a nice Pros approach to the myths and
- 3:34stories of Norse lore. So before we get started real
- 3:38quick, make sure you guys are following me on Facebook,
- 3:40midgard, musings, facebook.com slash midgard, musings Tian.
- 3:44And they also subscribing to the YouTube channel, which is
- 3:47youtube.com slash midgard musings.
- 3:50So I'm going to be reading you guys out this short.
- 3:53It's X section. I can get it out of about the
- 3:57norns, the norns web, okay. And then we're going to be
- 4:01talking a little bit about these figures and who and what they
- 4:04are. Within our, our belief system.
- 4:10Our faith. What have you?
- 4:11All right. So this is the norns web.
- 4:14So here we go. The northern goddesses of Fate
- 4:18who were called norns. We're in no wise subject to the
- 4:22other gods who might neither question nor influence their
- 4:27decrees, they were three sisters probably descendants of the
- 4:31giant Norva from whom sprang note which is night in Old
- 4:36Norse. As soon as the Golden Age was
- 4:39ended and sin began to steal even into the Heavenly homes of
- 4:42Asgard the norns made their appearance under the great Ash
- 4:47yggdrasil and took up their Abode near the order Fountain,
- 4:52According to some mythologists, their mission was to warn the
- 4:56gods of future evil. To bid them make good use of the
- 5:00present and to teach them wholesome lessons from the past.
- 5:05These three sisters whose names were lured vetted on D and
- 5:10schooled where personifications of the past present and future.
- 5:17Their principal occupations were to weave the web of Fate to
- 5:21sprinkle daily the sacred tree with water from the order
- 5:24fountain. And to put fresh clay, around
- 5:30its roots. That it might remain fresh, and
- 5:33Evergreen. Some authorities further state
- 5:40that the norns kept watch over the golden apples, which hung on
- 5:43the branches of the tree of life experience and knowledge,
- 5:46allowing none. But you do need to pick the
- 5:49fruit, which was that, which with which the gods, renewed,
- 5:54their youth. Norns also fed and Tenderly
- 5:58cared for two swans, which Swan over the mirror, like surface of
- 6:02the order order Fountain, and from the pairs of birds, all the
- 6:06swans on Earth are supposed to be descended at times.
- 6:11It is said the norns clothed themselves with Swan plumage to
- 6:15visit the Earth or sported like mermaids along the coast and in
- 6:19various lakes and rivers appearing to Mortals from time
- 6:23to time to foretell the Future or give them Sage advice, the
- 6:30norn sometimes wolf, webs. So large that while one of the
- 6:34wheat Weaver's, that one of the Weavers stood on a high mountain
- 6:37in the extreme East, another waited far out into the Western,
- 6:41see the threads of their wolf, resembled chords and varied
- 6:46greatly in Hue, according to the nature of the events about to
- 6:49occur and a black thread tending from north to south was
- 6:54invariably considered Omen of death.
- 6:57As these sisters flashed, the shuttle to and fro they chanted
- 7:01a solemn song. They did not seem to weave
- 7:05according to their own wishes, but blindly, as if re-elected
- 7:11lie, executing the wishes of order log, the Eternal law of
- 7:15the universe and older and Superior power who apparently
- 7:19had neither beginning nor end. Two of the norns wort and
- 7:27vedanti were considered to be very beneficent indeed.
- 7:32While the third it is, said relentlessly undid their work
- 7:36and often when nearly finished toward angrily, two threads,
- 7:40scattering the remnants to The Winds of Heaven, as
- 7:44personifications of time. The norns were repressed
- 7:48represented as sisters of different ages and characters
- 7:53watered or Word or weird apparent.
- 7:57Appearing very old, and decrepit, continually Looking
- 8:01Backward, as if absorbed in contemplating past events and
- 8:05people better than D. The second sister young, active
- 8:10and fearless look straight before her while schooled, the
- 8:15type of the future was generally represented as closely veiled
- 8:20with head turned in the direction opposite to where
- 8:23order to Gazing and holding a book or scroll, which had not
- 8:27yet been opened or unrolled these Norms were visited daily,
- 8:33by the gods who loved to consult them and even Odin himself.
- 8:36Frequently rode down to the ordered.
- 8:38Our Fountain, the bespeak, their aid, for they generally answered
- 8:43their, his questions maintaining silence, only about his own fate
- 8:48and that of his fellow gods. All right, you know, so guys I'm
- 8:58gonna kind of reflect the back a little bit here and there as I
- 9:02can talking about what, what kind of I just read, you know,
- 9:08one of the, one of the biggest things I've found about this
- 9:11path, he even raised specifically, is that we have
- 9:18our own webs. We definitely have We definitely
- 9:25have an influence on things when it comes to the, the what is
- 9:37added to the well, the older. Well, where it talks about the
- 9:41norns, The Well of the, of the there, at the, at the base of a
- 9:46good SEO Luther Brimmer, right? The things that we add to the
- 9:53well, Well, Echo for eternity. So those and how we add things
- 9:59to the well how those kind of those threads are woven is
- 10:04through our deeds, and through our actions, how we interact
- 10:07with folks, the the webs that we tie with others, it's not just
- 10:10what we do but it's what we do with each other.
- 10:13So it's a very interactive thing fate is At least from my
- 10:19perspective and how I view things as yes there are certain
- 10:22things that we are fated to happen.
- 10:25Things that are fated to happen to us.
- 10:26For instance, the fated day of our birth was set.
- 10:31There was no way that that is altered or changed because it
- 10:35happened when it happened and there's nothing that can be done
- 10:37to change. It are fated day of death,
- 10:40there's nothing that we can do to speed it up.
- 10:41There's nothing that we can do to delay it when it happens, it
- 10:44happens at as Our Fate, that is when it happens.
- 10:47So anything that we do in Between will only add to the
- 10:51well that our descendants then get to benefit from or, or, you
- 10:59know, get from the order log that we add to the well.
- 11:01So our Deeds now will become order log for our descendants.
- 11:04Just like the or log of our ancestors are things that we
- 11:08inherit now. So when we do things nowadays,
- 11:13whether they be, you know, ill Deeds or Good, Deeds or things.
- 11:18It all ends up being kind of added to the well how we
- 11:23interact with people the ties that we maintain the week, the
- 11:27webs that we weave with one, another has a very impactful you
- 11:34know part in not just the Here and Now not not just in the
- 11:39vedanti but in the school the things that could should will
- 11:44become right. So sorry about that.
- 11:48At the microphone adjusted on me.
- 11:50I'm having trouble with that lately.
- 11:51I'm not sure why I apologize. But, you know, so we live in the
- 11:57very handy. The now, the things that are
- 12:00happening now in the present and we learn from alert, the, the
- 12:07past, the things that have come before us and we try to effect
- 12:12and build good and now to influence in positive ways, and
- 12:18to do things. Things good for the school, the
- 12:20future, the things that that which is that's that which
- 12:23should be that which will be. And and how we interact with
- 12:29one, another is very impactful with that.
- 12:33Like I said before, it's not something that kind of almost
- 12:39like the the concept of Karma. You know what, you put out into
- 12:43the universe, what you put out there is what comes back.
- 12:46So if you put out bad, you get I had to come back you put out
- 12:50good it builds and it gives you you know good things to come
- 12:54back and that's in a shortened kind of condensed way how I see
- 13:01Fate In general it's not that we are just you know destined to
- 13:04die to be a certain thing or certain way.
- 13:09If things are going tough for you right now, then there's a
- 13:13couple of factors at least the way I look at it.
- 13:16If things are going tough, for me, I have a Couple of things to
- 13:19look at, I have my own deeds and my own actions.
- 13:22I've either done something to result in the current situation
- 13:27or I've not done things to result in the current situation,
- 13:30my action or inaction has resulted in the current state of
- 13:33affairs and then there's things that I've inherited.
- 13:37There's there's there's things that you cannot control.
- 13:39There's traits, there's characteristics about your
- 13:43ancestors, the or log that you inherited that you just kind of
- 13:47have to deal with and work with. And But the great thing about
- 13:50oral log is that you're not stuck with something because it
- 13:53is that way the traits and the characteristics and the, you
- 13:58know, the, the, the foulness that may be in your well, in
- 14:03your family. Well, is not a defining factor
- 14:07for your future, you can add more good to the well, to sort
- 14:11of the loot and and bring about better clearer Waters, you don't
- 14:17have to be stuck with. Those murky Waters your whole
- 14:19life and I feel like that's a thing that a lot of people don't
- 14:23necessarily realize when they're getting into this, is that you
- 14:26have an impact on how clear the waters are, you have an impact
- 14:30and an essay and an active part in how your well, looks right?
- 14:39How your family. Well, looks how the how things
- 14:42continue to proceed throughout your existence and how your
- 14:46descendants will benefit From your actions or inactions.
- 14:51All right, so that's a little bit about the norns guys.
- 14:54I'm going to probably be doing a series.
- 14:56Maybe not to help series but at least a video on YouTube about
- 15:00this because it is such a fascinating thing.
- 15:02And I think it's something that we as heathens should definitely
- 15:06be focused on and conscious of. So if you like the today's
- 15:12episode, please consider supporting the episode through
