- 1:49flood in. Father, I pray, Lord God

- 2:26Jesus Christ and we can come to you, Lord, unashamed, gird up
- 2:31our loins. Father, let us stand in your
- 2:34presence, God, for you are worthy to be praised.

- 2:45Yahweh everlasting. We love you, Father.
- 2:49We pray for the peace of Jerusalem.
- 2:52God, I pray that you'll raise up righteous leaders unto
- 2:56yourselves. God, I pray that you, Father,

- 3:04I pray God, that you will come in.
- 3:07Flood us, God, with your presence so that we cannot even
- 3:10speak. Lord, give us the Shekinah
- 3:14glory, the weight of your glory. Father, in this room I pray,
- 3:17Lord Jesus Christ, that you, Lord, will be magnified in the
- 3:22teaching, that you, Jesus Christ, will be well pleased.
- 3:27So yes, Father, we cry out, Maranatha, the Spirit and the
- 3:32Bride say come. We speed the day, we see the
- 3:39leaves. God, we know that you are closer
- 3:43today than you were yesterday. So God help us to wait.
- 3:47Well, thank you Jesus for another day.
- 3:52Thank you Jesus, for giving us life and clean drinking water.
- 3:57We enter your gates with praise and Thanksgiving.
- 4:02We run into the strong tower. God, you are our fortress.
- 4:12We hide your word in our heart. God, help us not to sin against
- 4:19you or help us to forgive those who have sinned against us.
- 4:24God, forgive us for all of our many trespasses.
- 4:29Keep us from the enemy. Give us Our Daily Bread today,
- 4:33God, Yours is the Kingdom and the power and the glory and the
- 4:38honor, forever and ever and ever worthy to be praised, Yeshua.
- 4:45And it's in your holy and precious and powerful and
- 4:50awesome name that I pray, Amen. Well, let's start in verse one.
- 5:03And when Rachel saw that she bore Jacob no children, Rachel
- 5:08envied her sister and said unto Jacob, give me children or else
- 5:12I'd die. Look at how she is acting very
- 5:17immature, like a little kid. Here she is acting as if her
- 5:22entire life is dependent upon her ability to be able to
- 5:27conceive. And look at how she has envy for
- 5:31her sister. And envy is not a small matter,
- 5:35friends. It's envy that put Jesus Christ
- 5:39on the cross, friends, and we must master it before it masters
- 5:43us. Verse 2 And Jacob's anger was
- 5:47kindled against Rachel and he said, Am I in God's stead who
- 5:52has withheld from you the fruit of the womb?
- 5:56So he's saying, am I God? Can I determine if you have a
- 5:59child or not? It's God who opens the womb, and
- 6:03it's God who closes the womb. And by the way, friend, if you
- 6:08are one who cannot conceive, perhaps God is pushing you
- 6:12towards adoption. Perhaps he's pushing you towards
- 6:16fostering. Friends, you just never know the
- 6:20ways of the Lord. And I've seen in my own eyes
- 6:23people who step out in faith and they adopt and then they
- 6:27conceive afterwards. Friends, the mind of Christ,
- 6:31friends, the ways of God are so incredibly rich.
- 6:37And his heart is for children. His heart is for the family,
- 6:41friends. And he sees them in those
- 6:43orphanages. He sees those kids in their
- 6:47deplorable state. And we are the answer.
- 6:50We are plan A friends verse 3 And she said, Behold, my maid
- 6:59Bilhah, go in unto her, and she shall bear upon my knees, that I
- 7:05may also have children by her. It's very interesting, friends,
- 7:09that this is the same context that we saw whenever Sarah had
- 7:15convinced Abraham to go and conceive with Hagar.
- 7:19And we see the mess that that has caused and still is causing
- 7:26today, this stepping out in disobedience.
- 7:30And you're going to see here that this bearing upon my knees,
- 7:35this is not just putting the child upon the knees after it is
- 7:38born. This is a picture of what a
- 7:42surrogate would look like. And this was a practice of that
- 7:46time. And it would show that the one
- 7:50who had the handmaid, one that had the servant, would actually
- 7:59adopt the child after it is born.
- 8:04And there was a position that is referenced here that is
- 8:09explaining the passage that says on my knees, let's keep pushing.
- 8:19And she gave him Bill Ha, her handmaid to wife, and Jacob went
- 8:23in unto her. So this is a very dysfunctional
- 8:28scene. And you can see that they put
- 8:31the fun in dysfunctional. And we see that the same sins
- 8:38that were brought upon by Abraham and Hagar are being
- 8:42visited upon the children and the grandchildren here.
- 8:47You see that this is the same model that whenever Abraham
- 8:51stepped out in disobedience, friends, out of the perfect and
- 8:56pleasing will. And we see that God can use it
- 8:59without excusing it, and it's going to cause a whole lot of
- 9:03strife. And we can trace it back to
- 9:08Jacob whenever he was deceiving his father Isaac with the goat
- 9:13hair and listening to his mother Rebecca as she prodded him to do
- 9:18so. And all of this is the
- 9:21manifestation of getting out of line with the perfect and
- 9:25pleasing will of God. And you see it here in reference
- 9:33to Rachel's womb being closed. You see it here in reference to
- 9:38Leah being given to him on his wedding night.
- 9:41You see it here with him laying with Bill.
- 9:44Ha. These are not the purposes and
- 9:47plans of God, but He can use it without excusing it.
- 9:51Don't ever forget that. And it was not that that Bill Ha
- 9:58became his wife, but he did things with her that were only
- 10:02to be done with his wife. 5 And Bill Ha conceived, and she bore
- 10:06Jacob a son. 6 And Rachel said, God has judged me, and has also
- 10:11heard my voice, and has given me a son.
- 10:14Therefore she called his name Dan.
- 10:20We know that Dan's name gets erased out of the genealogy, and
- 10:26you're going to see here that perhaps even the line, the
- 10:31Antichrist comes through this Dan, and you see the
- 10:34disobedience here. And it is not what God had in
- 10:41mind, but He's going to use it. He's going to use the 12 sons.
- 10:45Their names are going to be written on the gates in the New
- 10:48Jerusalem. And it's not as if God had
- 10:50willed all of this, but He's going to use it.
- 10:53And we know from Romans chapter 8, verse 28 that God will use
- 10:58everything for the good of those who love Him and who are called
- 11:03according to His purposes. And so this is the depths of
- 11:07God's heart and wisdom, friends, is that he has a perfect and
- 11:12pleasing will for our lives. But whenever we step out of line
- 11:16for that, we see the discipline come in.
- 11:19We see the dysfunction come in. We see all of the troubles come
- 11:23in and all of those things that what they do is they refine us
- 11:26and they pull out the things that don't belong.
- 11:29And it's a process of sanctification.
- 11:32And it's not for us to look back and wag our fingers, because all
- 11:36of our righteousness is nothing but filthy rags before a holy
- 11:39God. And He can use all of them for
- 11:42His purposes and His plans. And He'll take your misery and
- 11:46He'll turn it into a ministry. Friends, never forget that 70
- 11:53bilhah Rachel's made conceived again and bore Jacob a second
- 11:57son. So what in the world is going
- 11:59on? Here it is again.
- 12:01He is stepping out and he is conceiving with her handmaid.
- 12:07What a deplorable sight that we see, Aidan, Rachel said.
- 12:13With great wrestlings I've wrestled with my sister and I
- 12:17have prevailed. And she called his name
- 12:19Nephtali. So here we're getting to see
- 12:22these 12 tribes, the 12 sons of Israel mentioned here.
- 12:28And these are strong, mighty warriors in the land.
- 12:31These are all of the descendants of the nation of Israel.
- 12:35And we look back to them and we are honored to be connected to
- 12:40them. But you can see how they were
- 12:42born in all kinds of strife. What an amazing thought. 9 And
- 12:52when Leah saw that she had left bearing, she took Zilpah, her
- 12:56maid and gave her Jacob to wife. So now she's following the she's
- 13:04following the practice of Rachel.
- 13:06She saw Rachel was able to provide more sons for Jacob by
- 13:15giving him her handmaid, so now Leah gets the bright idea to
- 13:20give him hers. 10 And Zilpa Leah's made bore Jacob a son. 11
- 13:27And Leah said a troop comes and she named she called his name
- 13:31Gad. 12 and Zilpa Leah's made bore Jacob a second son. 13 And
- 13:38Leah said, Happy am I, for the daughters will call me blessed.
- 13:43And she called his name Asher. 14 And Reuben went in the days
- 13:49of wheat harvest, and found mandrakes in the field, and
- 13:52brought them unto his mother Leah.
- 13:54Then Rachel said to Leah, Give me, I pray you of your sons man
- 14:00Drake. So here is some very interesting
- 14:02passages when you really sit and think about it and meditate upon
- 14:06it. And when you look at the context
- 14:08of what it all is pointing towards, you're going to need to
- 14:12know that these mandrakes are these roots that look somewhat
- 14:16like a human when you pull them up.
- 14:19And they were and considered an aphrodisiac.
- 14:22And perhaps she was getting a little jealous at the fact that
- 14:27her son had found this aphrodisiac that would help her
- 14:31to conceive more sons for Jacob. And you can see here that she is
- 14:37begging her for these mandrakes that her son had found.
- 14:41Let's see how it all turns out. 15 And she said unto her, Is it
- 14:47a small matter that you have taken my husband?
- 14:53And would you take away my son's mandrakes also?
- 14:56And Rachel said, therefore he shall lie with you tonight for
- 15:00your son's mandrakes. So she's saying I will allow
- 15:04Jacob to come and to lie with you this evening if you give me
- 15:09the mandrakes. And perhaps she was thinking
- 15:12that she needed them for an aphrodisiac.
- 15:15And you're going to see here that this is just so completely
- 15:20ridiculous in the sense that all of it is happening in the manner
- 15:25that it is. And this is preposterous in all
- 15:29accounts, Friends, we see the handmaids involved.
- 15:33We see that Laban was giving Leah 1st.
- 15:36And we see that Leah considered Jacob to be her husband, as she
- 15:40referenced here. And it's just dysfunction,
- 15:43friends. And we think that we've got it
- 15:45bad. Go back and look friends, it's
- 15:48just as dysfunction dysfunctional back then.
- 15:51Because humankind does not change over time.
- 15:55We don't get better, friends. It is only the grace of God that
- 16:01can cover all the multitude of our sins and give us the
- 16:06forgiveness. Because in the reality, friends,
- 16:08we're all jacked up. 16 And Jacob came out of the field in
- 16:15the evening, and Leah went out to meet him and said, You must
- 16:19come in unto me, for surely I have hired you with my son's
- 16:22mandrakes. And he lay with her that night.
- 16:25It seems to me that Jacob really didn't have a whole lot of
- 16:29opposition to all of these encounters. 17 And God listened
- 16:36to Leah, and she conceived and bored Jacob, the fifth son. 18
- 16:40And Leah said, God has given me my hire because I have given my
- 16:44maid to my husband and she called his name.
- 16:47It's a car. So she has, she was not able to
- 16:50conceive prior to this. And then now she's thinking that
- 16:54because she'd given Jacob her handmaid, that Jacob bore this
- 17:02child through her. And she's thinking that God has
- 17:06reopened her womb because of her generosity.
- 17:10What an amazing thought. 21 And afterwards she bore a daughter
- 17:18and called her name Dinah. So this is the only girl so far
- 17:24in this lineage. 22 And God remembered Rachel, and God
- 17:30listened to her, and opened her womb. 23 And she conceived and
- 17:35bore son, and said, God has taken away my reproach. 24 And
- 17:39she called his name Joseph, and said, The Lord shall add to me
- 17:44another son. So this was the only natural son
- 17:49that was born to Rachel, and all the rest of them so far have all
- 17:56been from Leah or from the handmaids, because Rachel's womb
- 18:01was closed and all of a sudden it is open and she's able to
- 18:05bear him a son. And this is Joseph, who we're
- 18:08going to learn a lot about very soon. 25 And it came to pass,
- 18:14when Rachel had bored Joseph, that Jacob said unto Laban, Send
- 18:18me away, that I may go into my own place to my country. 26 Give
- 18:24me my wives and my children, for whom I have served you, and let
- 18:28me go, for you know my service, which I have done you. 27 And
- 18:32Laban said unto him, I pray you, if you have found favor in your
- 18:37eyes, Terry, for I have learned by experience that the Lord has
- 18:42blessed me for your sake. So we're going to find out that
- 18:45old Laban is a idol worshipper, and perhaps by occult practices,
- 18:51by divination, he was, he was educated in the fact that the
- 18:55only reason that he was as blessed as he was is because the
- 18:59hand of Almighty God was on Jacob.
- 19:02And by way, he was blessing Laban in his entire household,
- 19:07because the God of Jacob, the God of Isaac, the God of
- 19:11Abraham, the God of the universe was there with his hand upon
- 19:16him, prospering him in everything that he did. 28 And
- 19:23he said, Appoint me your wages and I will give it.
- 19:25He's saying, Tell me what you want, and I'll give it to you,
- 19:29but just stay. 29 And he said unto him, You know how I have
- 19:34served you, and how your cattle was with me, 30 For it was
- 19:38little which you had before I came, and it is now increased
- 19:42unto a multitude. And the Lord has blessed you
- 19:45since my coming, and now when I shall provide for my own house
- 19:49also. 31 And he said, What shall I give you?
- 19:51And Jacob said, You shall not give me anything.
- 19:55If you will do this thing for me, I will again feed and keep
- 19:59your flock. He's saying.
- 20:01So let's. And here he is.
- 20:03He's striking up a deal. And that is what Jacob is known
- 20:07for. He's always looking for an
- 20:09angle, friends, and this is what he wants.
- 20:15He says in 32, I will pass through all your flock today,
- 20:19removing from there all the speckled and spotted cattle and
- 20:24all the brown cattle among the sheep and the spotted and
- 20:28speckled among the goats, and of such shall be my hire.
- 20:33So here is what he's this is what he is wanting.
- 20:37He's wanting to separate all of the speckled, all of the spotted
- 20:45and put them in a pasture away from all of the cattle and allow
- 20:52Laban's sons to keep them so that they so that Jacob cannot
- 20:57claim them as his own. He's giving Laban all of the
- 21:03solid colored animals as his own and any that are born from this
- 21:08point forward that are solid in color will go to Laban.
- 21:15But all from this point forward, all of the speckled and dotted
- 21:20and spotted will go to Jacob, and that is what he is saying
- 21:25here. That's the offer for his wages.
- 21:28Let's see how Laban approaches it. 33 So shall my righteousness
- 21:35answer for me in time to come, when it shall come for my hire,
- 21:39before your face, everyone that is not speckled and spotted
- 21:43among the goats and brown among the sheep, that shall be counted
- 21:48stolen with me. 34 And Laban said, Behold, I would, it might
- 21:53be according to your word. So he liked this idea because it
- 21:56was in Laban's favor. And apart from the outworking,
- 22:03the manifestation of God's provision for Jacob, this would
- 22:08have blown up in his face. This would have been a deal that
- 22:12was completely in Laban's favor. So Laban took it hook, line and
- 22:19sinker. And here Jacob is moving on
- 22:22faith, friends, he's operating in the spirit of faith on a holy
- 22:28God that can literally do anything.
- 22:31And there is nothing that is outside of God's abilities.
- 22:35Friends, he can literally do whatever he pleases.
- 22:41He can raise up sons to Abraham from the stones and even the
- 22:44rocks will cry out if we do not give him his due honor and
- 22:48praise. Friends and so you need to
- 22:51understand that walking on water is nothing.
- 22:54Friends, that raising the dead is nothing to God, that pulling
- 22:58coins out of a fish's mouth is nothing for God, and Acts head
- 23:02floating is nothing. Sending Chariots of angels and
- 23:06fire to encamp around us to protect us is nothing to a holy
- 23:11God, friends. It is as easy as blinking and
- 23:15breathing to him. And so you need to understand
- 23:18that Jacob here is operating in the spirit of faith and he knows
- 23:21that God is going to take care of him.
- 23:24And here Laban is operating as the worldly wise man and he sees
- 23:29that this is like Lot whenever Lots tried to take the lush
- 23:33place and Abraham was left with the bog.
- 23:37And you need to understand that this is the way of God as we
- 23:40trust, even when all of our senses are going against what
- 23:46our emotions and feelings are saying, we go with what God has
- 23:51to say. We go with faith.
- 23:54And it is impossible to please God without faith.
- 23:57And that is what he's operating in here.
- 24:00And God's going to reward him. Let's see how it goes. 35 And he
- 24:07removed that day the he goats that were ring striked and
- 24:11spotted, and the she goats that were speckled and spotted and
- 24:15everyone that had some white in it and all the brown among the
- 24:18sheep, and gave them into the hand of his sons.
- 24:22And he sat there three days journey between himself and
- 24:26Jacob, and Jacob fed the rest of Laban's flocks.
- 24:29So there was no way for the intermingling of Laban speckled
- 24:34and spotted with the payment of the speckled and spotted for
- 24:40Jacob. That is what is referenced here.
- 24:4337 And Jacob took him rods of green Poplar and the Hazel, and
- 24:47the chestnut tree, and he peeled white strikes in them, and made
- 24:51the white appear which was in the rods. 38 And he set the rods
- 24:56which he had peeled before the flocks and the gutters in the
- 24:59watering troughs when the flocks came to drink, that they should
- 25:03conceive when they came to drink. 39 And the flocks
- 25:06conceived before the rods and brought forth cattle ring,
- 25:10straight, speckled, and spotted. Look at this.
- 25:12This is absolutely preposterous. It's ridiculous, this notion of
- 25:19these branches placed in the watering troughs actually being
- 25:22able to produce these characteristics inside of the
- 25:27genetic code of these animals. It's absolutely unthinkable.
- 25:38And you can see here that this is the way of God.
- 25:42And if you miss it, and if you're looking at it from a
- 25:46critical angle and you're thinking to yourself that this
- 25:49is not the way that things work, you're absolutely right.
- 25:54But you're discounting the reality of a God who put it all
- 25:57into existence and He spoke it, and everything is subject unto
- 26:03him, and He can break in. He could breakthrough into what
- 26:09we know of as the natural. And that is where you experience
- 26:14miracles. Because God lives outside of
- 26:16time, and He can interject himself into time any time that
- 26:22He wants to any particular point that He wants to, and He can
- 26:26perform whatever miraculous manifestation of materialism
- 26:34that he wants to, friends. And we sit back in awe and
- 26:37wonder because of this mighty God who can literally do
- 26:41anything that he pleases. 40 Jacob did separate the lambs,
- 26:48and he set the faces of the flocks toward the ring straight,
- 26:52and all the brown, and the flock of Laban, And he put his own
- 26:55blocks by themselves, and put them not unto Laban's cattle. 41
- 27:00And it came to pass, whensoever the stronger cattle did
- 27:03conceive, that Jacob laid the rods before the eyes of the
- 27:07cattle and the gutters, that they might conceive among the
- 27:10rods. 42 But when the cattle were feeble, he did not put them
- 27:14in. So the feeble were Labans, and
- 27:17the stronger were. Jacobs will end on, 43 And the
- 27:21man increased exceedingly, and he had much cattle, and
- 27:25maidservants, and men, servants, camels and asses.
- 27:29This is the way of God, friends. This is the way that the Lord
- 27:34works, friends, and it is unpopular because God is not the
- 27:41God that we have formed in our own minds that has to behave and
- 27:46He has to do things on our own terms, and that we will call him
- 27:50into the courtroom and ask him, what are you doing?
- 27:54And you're going to see that the hand of God was upon Jacob, and
- 27:58Jacob increased all the more. And it does not mean that Jacob
- 28:03was perfect, but he was inside of the will of God, and the
- 28:06promises of God never fail. And he had made a covenant with
- 28:10Abraham because of his faith. And you could see it, friends,
- 28:14that God is taking care of Abraham's grandson here and old
- 28:19Laban, the idol worshipper is being diminished.
- 28:24What an amazing thought. Keep yourself attached to the
- 28:27God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and you will see greater things
- 28:31than these. I hope you've been blessed by
- 28:35this amazing chapter in God's Word.
- 28:37I know I sure have. I'm praying for every single one
- 28:40of you. I love you.
- 28:43We'll see you back here tomorrow.
- 28:45God bless you.
