- Paul: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to another episode of the Apex F1 Podcast. It is me, yours truly, Paul. I'll be steering this ship, hopefully in the right direction, but I don't do it alone. I do it with two really good friends. Josh, how are you doing today? Josh: Doing good, buddy. How are you? Paul: fucking living the dream sorry I'm cussing already early it's beautiful it's beautiful weather out here it's dude I'm always excited talk to you two nerds Josh: He's excited for no reason. The Apex F1 Podcast: My mom actually, she came to visit this last weekend and my stepdad, walked in and they were like, we listened to your podcast on the drive up here. And I don't know why I do that voice because my parents don't sound like that, but they're like, we listened to your podcast on the way up here. And then they were like, yeah, you should send your podcast to some people. And then they were like, but you do cuss. And I was like, yeah, I do cuss. ⁓ Paul: Hey, it just comes with it. It comes with it. I feel like it adds the extra spice to whatever we're talking about. Josh: I'm an adult, sorry. The Apex F1 Podcast: And granted, when I post it for the YouTube, I do select, no, this is not made for children. So we've made the disclaimers. Josh: So we're good. Paul: Let's be honest, are saying worse things than we are on this podcast. But, absolutely, but the young lady in the middle with the potty mouth, that is Meredith. Meredith, how are you doing today? Yes, yes. Josh: Absolutely. The Apex F1 Podcast: no doubt. They hear far worse. You're sailor reporting for duty as you steer this ship, Paul. I'm fantastic. happy to be on, happy to talking about F1 and all the fun things happening in motorsport with you all today. Josh: Haha Paul: Absolutely. It was a long week off that we had between F1 races, but we're back. It is back in a few days. They're going to be track. They're going to be cars on track in beautiful Japan, which I think I can speak for the three of us when I say it's one of our bucket list races to go to. I think it's just this time of year in Japan is beautiful. It's just one of those iconic races that if you love motor sports as a whole, it's just one of the places you have to go. The Apex F1 Podcast: willing, 2027, I'll be at Suzuka. Paul: Yeah, hopefully. But yeah, let's get let's get right into it. We had some big news this week. kind of have to warm up a little bit, but no, Aston Martin right came in with the hammer and said, the man who can see air through a vehicle, you out. don't let door you on the way out. Daddy's throw decided it was time to not necessarily part ways, but he did ⁓ Nui to something else. And did not see this happen. Did you? And I think I will give Josh some credit. I think he talked about it last year where he didn't think Adrian Nui was going to last the entire season as the team principal. So I'll let Josh start this one out. Josh: Well, back when I made that particular prediction, I was so thinking that he would be a placeholder, right? That another name would come along that would pick up. since Newey was a part owner of the team, that he was just a convenient person to have kind of that role for the first few weeks of the season. Not exactly how I saw this coming out. ⁓ I'm surprised by the move, quite frankly. I'm very surprised. ⁓ There's two to it that could that Paul: It's that, it's the maturity. I mean, you can see that he is the son of Karlsruhe's And that he understands this is a long way. This is a new sprint. is a marathon journey that he's hoping to have in his own NBA career. And I think that he's played with that kind of maturity, and they ask a lot of them, especially with cable television. Josh: Confuse me, right? Like why number one would would they jump ship so early when it's not necessarily the car is the problem, but it's well known that it's the power unit that's the issue. The second part of that to that is is why would why would hey would would Jonathan Wheatley who we sat here last weekend and complimented so highly for his work. Why would he decide to jump ship at Audi so quickly? either money ⁓ there's something going on at Audi. That's you know, not not so hot that he wanted out anyway, or it's just money. But I was just very surprised to see that news both sides of that. I'm surprised that that Nui was was was reassigned to his, I believe his previous role. And I'm also surprised to see that Jonathan would jump ship so quickly at a team that seemed to have given him the keys to the castle. So very moves there. We'll have to see kind of what direction both of those teams kind of take over the next several weeks ⁓ and how they land. Paul: Meredith? The Apex F1 Podcast: Yeah, I think, know, Adrian knew he's been a key player and he was such a huge key player in Red Bull success. And I think that I was also surprised last year by him being announced as team principal. And I think when Josh kind of hypothesized like, Hey, he would be a placeholder until they found somebody that was permanent as a team principal role, because those jobs are so different. What Adrian knew he has been doing and what his expertise is in is ⁓ necessarily suitable for a team principal role. Now, do I think he could have grown into that role, absolutely highly respected. I was very, very shocked by the decision. know, only a couple of weekends into the season, especially given the announcement about Saudi Arabia and Bahrain being canceled, ⁓ so many other changes happening at once, I am surprised at the timing of this decision. ⁓ really thought that they would really leverage that gap between Suzuka and Miami to try to work on some things with a car, really maximize performance, try to troubleshoot to actually be able to get a car to finish a race ⁓ and really find Paul: the various A-cups, he's getting a shoe deal. He is the first college basketball player to get a major shoe deal while he is still in school. So now, remember we know this case, we're going to be strong, but I'm looking forward to what he's like and what you see. And of course, one day I'd say when he signed this deal, we'll rebound. Yeah. The next him. I don't know. The next him. And for AI to say that, and for this school to get closer to where they did, it just proves you're The Apex F1 Podcast: finesse what was happening there before they would make some decisions. I really anticipated a decision maybe happening more around like summertime during that like summer silly season break. And don't know, I am shocked by the timing of it, but I with Josh. I think the more shocking part to me is Jonathan Wheatley departing Audi. ⁓ they said was due to personal reasons, but the rumors of going over to Aston Martin are ever present. And I it's just. Paul: Yeah, I think Joe I think ⁓ The Apex F1 Podcast: It's a lot happening at once and I don't feel like we have all the information on it. I mean, not that we ever will, but yeah, I was quite, quite surprised by it. Quite surprised. Paul: think Josh brings up a good point. a power ⁓ issue with Aston Martin. So what Jonathan Wheatley at the helm do differently that Newey doing? ⁓ Josh: Yeah, I don't know. The Apex F1 Podcast: Or is it necessarily that they think he can do anything differently or is it that they realize that they are in such a massive deficit not having a true team principal, coaching drivers, leading team culture, which is very much what we were complimenting Wheatley on already. know, the team culture, he was building an Audi, the support, right? Maybe this isn't about them having an expectation that Jonathan Wheatley is going to be able to come in and change things from a power unit perspective more about them. Paul: you The Apex F1 Podcast: realizing they had a larger deficit to overcome in needing a strong team principle. And they felt like Jonathan Wheatley would fit the bill there and, you know, money talks. And Wheatley probably saw an opportunity to make that move and go with a team that ultimately has all the resources, unlimited funding and potential. And if they can get a power unit issue figure out, then would they have all the right pieces to be able to come back later in the season and ultimately be able to compete? Maybe that was their thought process. Josh: very well could be. was, think it goes back to the announcement of Adrian Nui as team principal for me is he's just not that guy. Like he's never been in that leadership role. He's always been the, you know, the strong engineering mind in the background that builds ⁓ cars and, know, has a reputation for doing things that are outside of the box. Right. But you don't hear him ⁓ as much of the of the team. So that was a little, you know, maybe piqued my interest. Paul: Baby. Josh: ⁓ back at the announcement, but now maybe that is kind of the catalyst to this decision that he isn't that leader guy. then with them being so far down in the hole here that they've got to dig themselves out quickly. Maybe they do want a face that they can rely on to try to pick the pieces up and, and, know, create a good foundation. Now. Paul: And then staying with Jonathan Wheatley, what going on behind the at Audi that would make him want to leave that? So there's a lot of, mean, I know the car's kind of been having its issues in the first couple races of this year, so is there more to it than that? And it's weird ⁓ The Apex F1 Podcast: I I wouldn't argue that there's any more happening at Audi with a car than there is at Aston Martin, who hasn't even had a car finish a race. Josh: No. Paul: Yeah, yeah, and I don't know if you guys have made it this far, but to survive made a whole thing about Jonathan Wheatley and how much he's changing the culture with those two drivers there. You from that to just up and leaving and going somewhere else. I don't know. There's I'm sure there's a lot of conversations and a lot of stuff we're not privy to as fans. So it's going to be interesting to see how it all unfolds. And I think the truth comes out eventually. So we'll have to wait and see what happens. Josh: Well, that and I'm kind of curious to see what Matteo now can do. know, it's been a while since he's been the front man of a... Paul: And he had his issues towards his latter end of his career with Ferrari. did he learn his lessons or is he still that hard-headed individual that we saw towards back end of his stint with Ferrari? So there's lot of moving pieces here and only time will tell how it all breaks down. Josh: Absolutely. He got run out of Ferrari. The Apex F1 Podcast: Gunther makes a comeback. had a shocking turn of events. Gunther is now Audi team principal. I'm just kidding. ⁓ think it'd be fucking hilarious to see him back in that space. just, will only think of Mattia and Gunther in that episode of Drive to Survive from last season, like hanging out in the vineyard, just chilling. know, like I just, loved that, but. I Matteo can do a good job with that team. He's had so much footing in this space and ⁓ is experienced. I think he will apply a lot of his learnings, but I it will very interesting to keep an eye on Aston Martin because if they can continue to work with Honda and get this power unit issue figured out, especially given the breaks that we have now, ⁓ if they figure out the issues with their car and then they've got Newey staff and they've added in Jonathan to really bring out, you a well-rounded leadership team, then if they can get that figured out, they could be one to watch. But I think it all goes back to, can they fix the car? A new team principle isn't going to change any culture if your car can't finish races. Paul: Yeah, that's true. Josh: And with this weekend being Japan, I almost wonder Honda is going to make a huge effort with several upgrades and several improvements, being that this would be effectively their home race. And they want to have a good showing in front of probably quite a few of their own shareholders. So I would gamble to say that they've probably spent the last ⁓ weeks trying to fix as much of this car as they can to at least try to finish the race, let alone try to get points. you know, baby steps here. Paul: you Absolutely baby steps. So is there anything else in anything else in the news with with f1 before we kind of get into about Japan and everything there. I Would I miss? Yeah, let's get into that not really I thought we were gonna save that for a little bit later, but go on The Apex F1 Podcast: Yeah, Max driving at Nurburgring. Well, I mean, it's related in the F1 news. mean, this was really Max Verstappen's debut at the Nurburgring there, kind of racing in that Mercedes car. I don't know if you all saw any of the clips of the videos of just some of the massively impressive overtakes that he did in that car. That was just insane. Such a dominant victory. You know, they got the pole position and they converted it to a win to ultimately be stripped of that title and disqualified for using too many sets of tires. The mistake happened during qualify. Paul: Cheaters! Josh: shooters. The Apex F1 Podcast: So think that was really interesting to hear. I mean, hated it for Max because it was such a dominant, incredible race and very impressive. We turned it on and we're watching some of it the other morning and I was just like, this is impressive. He did absolutely fantastic. I think if anything, it shows that he really is trying to ⁓ maybe not his exit plan, but pad his resume to really just continue to pursue the other things he's passionate about. And so what a bummer for him to such a dominant force and then nope, disqualified because of a tire strategy. Paul: think if we continue to see the Ferrari struggle in the way ⁓ it is, and I think if we continue to see Max unhappy with the new regulations the way he is, I see him leaving in the next couple of years. What did I say? Sorry, I meant Red Bull. ⁓ we are not steering this ship in the right, ⁓ ⁓ not steering the ship in the right direction. Yes, Max is so mad that Ferrari isn't doing well. The Apex F1 Podcast: Do you mean Red Bull struggle? You said Ferrari. I was like, I was like, don't you put that evil on me, Ricky Bobby. Josh: Ferrari. I was gonna say, whoa, where does those two things have to do with each other? Paul: So yeah, I think we're seeing the latter end of Max's career. I think he's shown interest in other things. And I think he would totally kick ass in endurance racing. And then, yeah. Josh: Well, there's a rumor I saw that ⁓ apparently Max and Sebastian have discussed creating a super team and potentially including Fernando as part of a ⁓ like a Le Mans team or a ⁓ team. So I know what they would drive, but I'm sure any manufacturer would give them any car that they wanted to put that team together. So that would really neat to see. ⁓ I couldn't met. That would be so cool to see. That would be your team. Those are your three drivers, you know, three ⁓ The Apex F1 Podcast: That would be. Paul: Could you imagine? God. That's like the, yeah. Josh: world champions and previous Le Mans winner, you know. The Apex F1 Podcast: That would be incredible. Well, I would imagine that the relationship between, you know, Max and Ford Racing is developing. So like there could be a potential there for the connectivity with Ford Racing. Bull Racing sponsorship will continue through. mean, lot of the Verstappen.com racing teams and stuff like that are sponsored by Red Bull. No longer? Paul: Get out of there. Josh: It's no longer team Redline either. Everything is now for Stappen Racing. There's no longer team Redline. The Apex F1 Podcast: But the Versapin racing car this weekend at NSL2 was a Red Bull racing car. I mean, it was a Red Bull sponsored car. Josh: It was, well, I was talking about Max's own, his own brand that Verstappen.com and team Redline. is now all, well, he didn't, he just, he just, put it all together. So project Redline is now Verstappen racing. The Apex F1 Podcast: So it's so key part of Ways and Thames. But even this weekend, it was sponsored by Red Bull. Interesting. I think you're right though. Any manufacturer, any sponsor would be absolutely thrilled to support that lineup. No questions asked. Josh: you not? How do you turn down like the all-star team of the know the little ass what 30 years here pretty much? The Apex F1 Podcast: Right. Like I think of like the Legion of Boom with the Seahawks from, you know, their Super Bowl dynasties from a couple of years back, a couple of years like 10 years ago, right? Like I think about like those four people that were in the Legion of Boom, right? That to me is my F1 Legion of Boom would be Seb, you know, Max, Fernando. It would just be incredible. Legion of Zoom. Josh: deletion of zoom trademarked trademark that right now The Apex F1 Podcast: Trademarked just now, the Legion of Zoom. I'm gonna go apply for the patent immediately. Legion of Zoom. Paul: We, yes. Absolutely. But yeah, I think he's got a great career in endurance racing whenever he wants to make that move. And I know he's talked about wanting to do other things like rally racing. saw something recently where he said he wanted to do that. So, sky's the limit to what that man can do. And I'm really believing that more than ever that that man was created in a lab to do this because no can do what that man is doing. ⁓ The Apex F1 Podcast: Well, I don't know if y'all saw some of the clips from Suzuka from last year resurfacing from the cool down room after of him about the cars in Suzuka last year. And he's like, look at that lawnmower. And it's like, it was a clip of a car going around the track. And he's like, nice lawnmower or something. And it's like, I think if you look at the pattern of how he's been interacting in the media with his feedback on the cars of the last two seasons, he has not been super thrilled. And he voiced very clearly that he's at a point where his app, his. and what he's already won. He's like, I've accomplished everything I've wanted to accomplish here. know, times, interesting times. You know, ⁓ year, this time, Red Bull was really, really struggling and thinking about how much they turned it around to ultimately be able to deliver a car that was competing for the championship at the end. So ⁓ think it'll be interesting to see if there are massive, significant changes in that Red Bull this season at all. If not, ⁓ really could foresee Max being like, I'm good. I've seen what I've needed to see. I want my time to be with my family and to go pursue a hobby that brings me a lot of joy and that is racing other avenues. Paul: What was the line at the end of last year when he was looking at the trophy, the world championship? He's like, dude, I got four of those at home. So I've done what I've said I was gonna do. So yeah, good for him. But getting back to Japan, the delivery that House came out with, with the Godzilla, Meredith, it, take it away. The floor is yours. ⁓ The Apex F1 Podcast: Killing it. Killing it. Yeah, I, okay. I already, y'all already know that Haas had won the initial livery for me, like a livery of the season, no doubt. The thing that I look forward to the most though is like the V-Carb special liveries. I think V-Carb special liveries do fantastic. Suzuka in Miami never disappoint. So the V-Carb liveries fantastic, but this no hate to V-Carb. That Godzilla livery on the Haas, the hype videos ahead of it, just absolutely impeccable. What an incredible out of the box thought. I'm a Godzilla fan. So this for me is just like a absolute knock out of the park. Hi Beal. Hi Beal, hi bud. Yeah. ⁓ yeah. I mean, I just, love it so freaking much. I was already dying over the hats, the blue with the blue cherry blossoms. I already so obsessed with that. And then to have a Godzilla livery, I'm like, no, no, I didn't want cherry blossom merch. I want Godzilla Haas merch. Paul: ⁓ puppy. Josh: sick. Paul: So have to ask, where did ⁓ collab between Godzilla and Hask come in? I mean, because I know you always think like Godzilla in Japan, but is there something, is there a Godzilla movie coming out that I don't know about or? Josh: partnership. They partnered with the film studio that created Godzilla. I don't know. It's a new sponsor for them. Paul: Okay. The Apex F1 Podcast: which is based in Japan. Paul: Okay, yeah, that's... The Apex F1 Podcast: Yeah, just incredible, out of the box, unique, it. How has nobody thought of this before? Josh: I don't know why, but they did. Paul: Yeah, I didn't know. Yeah, I didn't know there was a movie or something coming out that I had completely missed. But either way, I'm not complaining. That's a badass Luke and Livre. Super cool. The Apex F1 Podcast: Yeah, and I love the V-Carb one too. I love the thing that I will say about the way that Red Bull and V-Carb do their livery reveals is that it's always an expo. So I don't know if y'all saw the stuff on social media about how Red Bull and V-Carb did their livery reveals for this race weekend. They had a surprise like pop-up underground show where it was like a whole production and they had cars like drifting and stuff. Yuki was there. It was very, very cool. So Red Bull does a great production with their livery reveals. But I think in terms of what the livery looks like, I Haas nailed it more than the Red Bull and B-Carb did. Paul: And then I just saw today that Mercedes came out with a special livery for... The Apex F1 Podcast: for the Adidas Y3 merch, the Wolf. Paul: But aren't they also, yeah, yeah, they were fluff. Josh: ⁓ yeah. The Apex F1 Podcast: Yeah, that's in collaboration with Adidas Y3 new merch collection, which was all the wolf themes. Paul: So they're not gonna run it for Japan or are they going to run it in Japan? The Apex F1 Podcast: Yeah, they are. I'm just saying it's all one cohesive media package. They released the new merch, then the livery. didn't know, I didn't anticipate them doing a livery. I think it looks fantastic. It's essentially just a wolf on that front wing, but the rest of the car pretty much still looks the same. But I like it. But y'all, Toto, that Adidas had me feeling some type of way. I was like, okay, Suzy, lock it down, girl. Yeah, like I know Toto's given real big daddy vibes. Paul: Now I see why you're with the man. Get it, girl. Josh: Heh. The Apex F1 Podcast: Pedro Pascal kind of vibes to a lot of female fans. I haven't ever seen it. That Adidas I was like, okay, I see it now, ladies. I see what you've been looking at. George just looks like he gastrointestinal pain in all those photos. Like he just looks like he's struggling. Kimmy's just like, what's up, I'm here. I got my jacket. ⁓ Josh: He's just happy to be there. Paul: Yeah, that whole dynamic between those three, it's gonna be interesting to see how it unfolds. Because I know hasn't come out and said it and he never will, but you know he favors Kimmy over George. And I think George feels like the redheaded stepchild just, look daddy, I'm doing great. And he's like, great, cool. But look at what Kimmy did. The Apex F1 Podcast: No doubt. No doubt. Did y'all watch Succession on HBO? Okay, you gotta watch it. It's about this family that's based off of an actual family in America that is very, very wealthy. And are multiple children in the family. And the oldest one, his character, there's a scene where some of the younger kids are talking about why they think they should take over the business. ⁓ And he it he's like, I'm the eldest boy. I'm the eldest boy. And like, that is what George Russell is giving to me right now of I am the eldest boy. I'm the eldest Roy. Like it's, it's going to be interesting. Cause if Kimmy continues to deliver the way he is, it's very, very clear that Toto is like, this is my golden child. Josh: Mm-hmm. Paul: ⁓ absolutely. mean. The Apex F1 Podcast: It doesn't take anything away from the incredible driver George has become and a phenomenal leader I think he is. But I think to me it is clear that Toto is very heavily investing in Kimi to be the future of Mercedes. Paul: Absolutely. All right. Let's get if there anything else. ⁓ you know what? Before we get into predictions, let's let's give the floor to Josh. Josh, this is your moment to shine. This is in your wheelhouse. us a Japan nerd talk. Give us all the track information. Give it to us. ⁓ should be a segment right here. Josh's nerd talk. ⁓ Josh: nerd talk. So The Apex F1 Podcast: did I just picture rainbow word art? ⁓ Josh: So the difficult thing is like we used to, used to have like all the DRS zones memorized and things like that. But now even like up to the race weekend, they adjust the different that are available for the straight mode as well as the overtaking the modes and where the timing line is. like even, I believe it was last race and maybe in China, they adjusted it like between practice and qualifying. So it's completely not something I can sit here and talk about because I don't even know where it's going to be or if it's going to stay that way. And we can't really talk about tires because the new tire system, you know, these new tires are a little bit more, they seem to be a little better with degradation. They seem to degrade a little more evenly as opposed to what we had previously. So it's a little hard to sit here and try to talk a strategy either because this is a new car, new tire. You know, we can look at last year stuff, but only for. Very bare minimum timing wise, so we'll talk to track itself. It's super fun. Paul: Yep. Josh: I love this track. It's so much fun to drive on the simulator. It's so much fun to watch. It's got some very good views, like, especially now that they've moved it back into the spring where it's just cherry blossoms all over the place. It's such a cool track. The Japanese fans absolutely love Suzuka. Suzuka's got so much great history with, you know, I mean, the battles between Senna and Prost and, you know, just Schumacher. Some of this really, cool moments in Formula One history have happened in Suzuka. What a cool place to be in Japan. love Formula One. They love motorsport. They have such a good car culture. ⁓ they really show out and they represent so well. I'm really excited for this week. I just love this. I love Suzuki. It's one of my favorite tracks on the calendar. I think you guys probably agree with me. That's definitely the bucket list. It's the one that everybody would love to go to one day. It's because it's got a good mix of like low speed corners and high speed corners. So we're really going to get to see a good good mix between the two. There's a couple of good hairpins, but there's also 130R, that fast left-hander in the third sector that, you know, famously Alonso overtook Schumacher and said that he knew he was going to check up because he had kids at home. That comes from that corner. So, yeah. So that's the quote from 130R because it's, it's, it's a, it's a, well, at in the previous iterations of the car, it's wide open, full speed. ⁓ No, you not have to lift at all. And it's a The Apex F1 Podcast: didn't realize that was from Suzuka, I love that. Josh: It's a pretty good hard left bank. what a cool corner if people do and we haven't seen overtakes there in a while since it's been the new or the old regulation that we very well could see overtakes at 130 are this time around, which is just absolutely nuts. the The Apex F1 Podcast: Yeah, think it's, I think one of the things I'm excited about for Suzuka this year is like, yeah, Suzuka is always a cool track and the drivers love it. But I think one thing I'm excited about for this new series of regulations, it's a little bit more of a narrow track. There's not a ton of runoff. it's, it's, it's going to be tight. so with how many overtakes and how competitive things have been, especially between the Ferraris and the Mercedes, I really excited to see some of these on track battles at a track where there's not a lot of room for error. I mean, there really isn't here. So yeah. Josh: Mm-hmm. And that track is so racy. It's so much fun. such a, it typically has led in the past to very, very good racing. I think this is gonna be a that these cars can kind of show their attitude towards being racy. So be fun. The Apex F1 Podcast: I really hope Liam Lawson sends it on someone here. Paul: And. Yeah, check out. Josh: Who Who else would I do? Paul: So, absolutely. So it looks like it's gonna rain there on Thursday and then it's gonna be cloudy and in the 60s for the race day in Suzuka. The Apex F1 Podcast: It's gonna be fun. Yeah. Josh: Perfect. Won't be too warm. Tires won't degrade. We could see some soft runners. That'll be good. Paul: Yeah, and And last year, really give us a lot of great racing just because of how lame those cars were. So hopefully, hopefully we get some bad-ass racing this go around. Josh: Absolutely could. Paul: All right, let's get into it. Let's get into the meat and potatoes. get into their predictions and what we think is gonna happen. Meredith, before we do that, can you update us on the points that we have right now? The Apex F1 Podcast: Yes, current points total, Josh has two, Paul has one, and I have two. So still very close early, early in the season. Paul: All right, with that being said, Josh, because you're in the lead with two or tied in with the lead with two. I'll let you go first. What is your? Josh: What's that? The Apex F1 Podcast: I think Josh gets to go first because he's at two and he didn't even get China predictions in. So he is, I feel he is in the lead. Paul: Meredith, think you and I need to collude to him because how is he winning? ⁓ we need to rig this system against him because he's just too good at the game that I created. The Apex F1 Podcast: We're gonna rig it! Josh: Morel. All right, I'm going to go with a super controversial podium of Kimi Antonelli, George Russell and Lewis Hamilton. It's not. Yeah, really having to dig deep and kind of go way out of the box for that one. But Mercedes is going to maintain their strength. I think I like Kimi for this one. I think he's just a little more bold and aggressive and coming off of his first win, I think he's got a little bit of momentum behind him. Now, that could mean that George is going to drive angry and I don't know if that. Paul: Okay, really, really digging deep for that one. The Apex F1 Podcast: Okay. Josh: really will work out for him. we'll see. I think Lewis riding pretty high. He's got his new booth thing. He's got a podium. He's feeling it. got a lot of experience here at Suzuka. I like Lewis. The Apex F1 Podcast: Okay, what you got for your shocker prediction? Josh: Alright, shocker predictions. Let's see, I'm going to say that... See this is why like our new points deal because in the past I would have said Aston Martin finishes the race. However, if they weren't to finish the race, I'd lose points. So I'm not going to select that. I'm going to say that... This is Doug. The Apex F1 Podcast: Do Paul: All right, all right, we'll come back to Josh while he thinks about his chakra prediction. The Apex F1 Podcast: No! 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, go! Josh: I want to pick a good one. No Williams in the points. The Apex F1 Podcast: Okay. Josh: No points for the Williams. Sorry, Paul. just, I just realized you're wearing the hat. Sorry. You're going have to say like Williams double points or something. Paul: James Viles is already having a rough time. The Apex F1 Podcast: Yeah, just balance it out. Paul: Yeah, absolutely. All right, Meredith, let's go with you. What do we think is going to happen? The Apex F1 Podcast: Okay, so Josh, you actually said a point that was a deciding factor in my podium. So my podium is George Lewis Charles. My point is Kimi's coming off his first win. He is riding a high. George is going to drive extremely because he wants to maintain that role as lead driver. He wants to show his dominance. He wants to show that he's the eldest boy. Josh: Okay. The Apex F1 Podcast: So that is why I thought George was gonna take it. I was also wondering if Kimi might get a little bit of the yips coming after the first win. So didn't know. ⁓ I thought with how the Ferraris have been doing lately and with how narrow this track is, the have always been very, very close, always the last two races. The Ferraris have been very, very close behind the Mercedes. ⁓ And always kind of been a sandwich there. And I think if the Ferraris can overtake Kimi, Josh: All right. The Apex F1 Podcast: I could see a double Ferrari podium here. So there it is, George Lewis Charles for my podium. I gotta give it to Gajira, double Haas points. Josh: Ooh, I like it. The Apex F1 Podcast: That's mine. Paul: Okay, all right, I am going to... Josh: lot of lot of faith in Akon with his 10.10 second penalties but it's fine you know do whatever. The Apex F1 Podcast: Don't rain on my parade, Josh. Josh: Hey, I'm just saying, you know, it's your choice. These are your picks, you can live with them. The Apex F1 Podcast: It is. It is my voice. Paul: He's like, I'm still winning losers. Hey, he owned up to his mistake. He's a he's a changed man. Josh: I mean, 10 second penalty to Akon was like a whole meme and it's coming back and I think it's hilarious. Yeah, did. Yeah, he real changed. The Apex F1 Podcast: Changed man. Paul: right, I am going to go with Georgian first, Charleston second, and Kimmy and third. And my prediction ⁓ is McLaren's are gonna be in the points. He's gotta do something. The Apex F1 Podcast: Got a lot of faith in McLaren's finishing races. Josh: You do. The Apex F1 Podcast: Okay. I really. Josh: They can't even start races. What do mean by finishing them? I said they can't even start races. What do mean finish them? Paul: What's that? They are going to turn over a new leaf right now. Josh: You should have just said Oscar Priyashree will complete a lap. Oscar Priyashree to complete one lap. The Apex F1 Podcast: For the love of God, I need it. My sister doesn't listen to podcasts, so I can say this. I got my nephew a McLaren car, a little drivable McLaren car for his birthday. ⁓ birthday party is this weekend. It's the first birthday party I have not been able to attend. ⁓ guess what the theme is? Paul: What's that? Josh: racing cars. The Apex F1 Podcast: Formula One, Monaco Grand 3, the one birthday party I haven't been able to attend, and he's got the Monaco Grand 3. So since I don't get to be there for the Monaco Grand 3, which I sent my mother home with excellent clothing for, am going to top all of her birthday gifts, and he is getting a McLaren car. So he gets to drive around in his McLaren car. They get to remote control it because he is only turning three, but then once he gets a little older, it's like a three to six year old car, and then he'll be able to drive it himself. Paul: ⁓ it's going to be. Josh: haha The Apex F1 Podcast: I hope he likes my present more than anyone else's since I don't get to be there for the birthday party that would be my theme. Paul: Absolutely. They're colluding against you on this one. I'm believing that. Absolutely. All right, so. Josh: Nice. The Apex F1 Podcast: They are, they're conspiring. I like this podium. I love that you went last because it was kind of like the split decision. Your podium is kind of the combination and the hybrid of me and Josh's. So ⁓ really, really like this podium for us. I can't wait to see how it works out. Paul: I hope it works out because my one point is all alone by itself. needs friends. Absolutely. The Apex F1 Podcast: All by myself. Hey, but you know what? We've made it 32 minutes into recording and you have not yet once pimped yourself out to another podcast yet. So I'd call this progress for us. Josh: Hey, this is good. Paul: I didn't want to continue to use that bit but yes if anybody's out there looking for a new host or a co-host I'm always willing to hear you out. Alright any last final thoughts on Japan and Formula One before we move on to something else? The Apex F1 Podcast: Cragging me up. None by me. Paul: It's gonna be a good one. Let's get into it. don't know much about this world, but Josh is getting into it. Josh, tell us everything about IMSA and what we missed. Josh: Well, good weather. Sebring is in Florida. So that was always kind of iffy, know, just like we saw there was no fog. Thank God. We got to see some more racing I think we've got total in total at the 24th Daytona. So that was always a bonus. Pretty uneventful through the beginning of the race. I will say that it was good clean racing through most of the beginning and then it got kind of dicey at the end and a lot of like teams that had some really good gaps at the end they got them taken away by red flags or yellow flags. So there was pretty much a sprint to the finish, which was always, you know, that's fun. Especially in a 12. The Apex F1 Podcast: When they're yellow flag like 15 minutes before the end of the race backs everybody up. Josh: Of course there was why not? So it backed everybody up made it a full sprint, which of course now everybody's gonna play aggressive because what do you got to lose? that it was a good good finish The what was it the numbers was it the seventh mayor? I'm bad with the numbers the fleet main a sir the Porsche Pinsky Got the win overall 12 and a Second or and a half. I think there was a second half margin between the two which is impressive being that there only like a 15 minute window for them to to race at the end. inked out a second and half margin and took the victory. But so he brings a really cool track to watch. It's so bumpy just watching the cars kind of get dark. I don't know what's where. The Apex F1 Podcast: I'm like, how do they not take flight at speed? Josh: I don't know how they maintain so much traction that they do like because even in the onboards the car looks like it's just slipping every time it hits a bump. It's like it's like how do you how do you maintain that? It's it's wild and then watching it from outside the car. It's even worse because it's like the whole back end is sliding. It's out. That's a crazy track. What a cool cool race. The Apex F1 Podcast: Yeah, it's like air hockey almost. I would like to push the 12 hours of the Sabering Drift. fuse Suzuka and Sabering into one and have the 12 hours of the Sabering Drift. Josh: It would only take 3800 tired sets to pull that one off, burning them things down so much. Yeah, really good. Yeah, I always forget how long of a circuit that is too. It's a long one. it's See, Sebring. The Apex F1 Podcast: Really great for the environment. Is it Sebring or Sabering? I don't know how to say it. You're Sebring. Paul: See you bring. Josh: I like how Paul chimed in, he didn't even watch it. Paul: No, I didn't watch Sorry, I turned off my mic no, I didn't watch it I tried to I'm really trying hard to get into it but my ADHD brain does not allow me to sit there and focus because there's like Yes, but there's like four different categories endless amounts of drivers and then TV camera doesn't show the one I'm trying to follow and I'm just like confused my ADHD Josh: You gotta pick like one team. Pick one. Paul: D-brain won't allow me to concentrate. I'm trying guys, I'm really trying. The Apex F1 Podcast: okay that it's not for you. I like that's the reasons just described that bother you are the reasons that I like it because I can check in and out of it. There's a lot of opportunity, know, like I watched some in the morning, ⁓ but then, know, I wanted to watch basketball all day and then, you know, be able to check back in on updates. So I think that's what I appreciate about it is that like, if you have one team or one particular driver that you want to follow during it, Like you can just tune in for that stint. So I think for me, I appreciate it because there's so much more opportunity. Like at no point am I ever gonna sit down and watch 12 hours straight of that race. I'm just being real. That's not me. I don't have the attention span for that. But I think that's why I like it because it gives so much more opportunity to jump in and out of it. Paul: still would love if we set up a plan to go to Daytona, the hour Daytona. I still think it'd be cool to go to it live and maybe ⁓ being live will kind of spark me the right direction and being more a of it. The Apex F1 Podcast: ⁓ for sure. ⁓ see, and that's how we felt about going to the Lone Star Le Mans two years ago. I was like, I love this. I love this. I never want to go home because I felt that way. know, and then the Lone Star Le Mans is only six hours, but having the ability to, you know, be there, watch it, go in, hang out, watch stuff on TV, eat, drink, move around, you know, it's just a lot more than feeling like if you step away, you're going to miss something massive, you know. Josh: I like this. Yeah. Paul: All right, anything else on Sebring and the 12 hour race that was? The Apex F1 Podcast: for me. Paul: Nope. Perfect. We move on to NASCAR. NASCAR was in Darlington and it was a great race. It was a lot of excitement, a lot of fun. Can anybody stop this 2311 team because they are on a tear. Tyler Reddick wins his fourth race this year. Man, that car is good. The Apex F1 Podcast: God, I love Darlington. Josh: Is NASCAR rigged? The Apex F1 Podcast: only one of three drivers to ever do so. Paul: What's that, Josh? Listen, they're the Josh: I said, is NASCAR rigged? Because they win a court case and all of a sudden now they're winning every single race. So if this was any other series, if this was any other series, we'd be like. Paul: Listen, the conspiracy... And you're not the only one. The internet is blowing up with conspiracy theories on how good this team is and is NASCAR letting them win because of Jordan exposing them. So, hey, you're not completely out of it. The is very loud when it comes to that world. The Apex F1 Podcast: just gotta say that, yes, from the outside looking in, I absolutely could see that being the perception, but watching of those races this season so far and watching how absolutely and competitive it is the entire race, like that, was insane. And really stage in this race at Darlington was just mayhem to me. The first two stages were really clean, know, same stage winner in stage one and two. I just really did not see, I mean, when there was a yellow flag and they had to do a restart and Tyler Reddick was back in sixth and just watching that restart and watching it was, I mean, essentially the first two cars went pulled right, the next two cars went low. Tyler Reddick just weaves around the car in fifth and just threaded the needle and he just found that opportunity. And he just immediately got right up in there. Like, I think when you watch it, you're just like, damn, that's just damn good driving. Like it was just really, really exciting to see. I was joking with my sister-in-law, Maggie, because she's been over here. She came over Sunday while my parents were visiting to be able to come see them and talk to them. And I told her, I was like, you are the Tyler Reddick charm, because every time she has come over to watch a NASCAR race with us, Tyler Reddick has won the race. And I'm like, I need you sitting at my house every Sunday for a NASCAR. I think that the 2311 team is just Paul: Never, never leave. The Apex F1 Podcast: nowhere to go but up. I Bubba Wallace had a really tough race. He had contact multiple times throughout the race. He had a terrible first pit when he came in. He actually had to pull back. Like he left the spot and had to reverse back into the spot. So I hated the Sunday that Bubba Wallace had, but Tyler Reddick's just driving absolutely clean. I think there were several other racers, including Carson Hosobar, that we have to keep our eye on for him to gain 30 places and finish in fourth. That was absolutely nuts. Those last six laps. Paul: Dude. The Apex F1 Podcast: need to be studied and in a throwback Chili's Dale Earnhardt livery wearing a Richard Petty hat in the advertisements? kiss, Carson. Paul: Dude, that host of our kid is on a fucking tear. Dude, he's gonna be, he's gonna do great things in this sport. The Apex F1 Podcast: I love it. He's the Liam Lawson of NASCAR, except he's actually achieving results. Paul: Correct, yes. Because Josef, Josef Ar, no, he'll run your ass off the track real quick. But like Meredith said, he's getting results. He started in 30, like towards the back end Darlington and finished fourth. And kid, there's talent back up his recklessness. ⁓ I will ⁓ Josh: He's not running into Sheko? The Apex F1 Podcast: No, he's running into everybody and he doesn't give a fuck. Josh: So he's just a torpedo. The Apex F1 Podcast: I just think it's, I think NASCAR's so fun to watch right now. Paul: My one complaint about NASCAR and IndyCar as I've started to get more into it I think we shouldn't allow certain numbers to continue to be on track. I don't think anyone should use a number 24 in NASCAR. That was Jeff Gordon's. I don't think people should use a three. ⁓ don't think David Miloukis should use. The Apex F1 Podcast: You're gonna retire Josh: They're gonna hang him in the rafters? Paul: You need to, I don't think David Melukis should race a number 12 because I think 12, think it's synonymous with willpower. I think there's certain numbers that just need to stay with the drivers. Like 44 will always be synonymous with Lewis Hamilton in Formula One. The 11 will always be synonymous with Checo. The 77 with Valtteri Bottas. I don't want another driver. The Apex F1 Podcast: Yeah, agreed. See, I think when you say 11, I think of Denny Hamlin. Paul: Fair enough, but in Formula One and 11 for Danny Hamlin, there are certain numbers that just should stay with the drivers. I don't think anyone else should drive the number three car because that's Earnhardt. Josh: I mean, that's almost a little different though, because he died. The Apex F1 Podcast: Yeah, if he didn't die would you feel that way? But did you die? Paul: Because he was still a great driver, but did you die? It's like the 24 Jeff Gordon you was 24 so I don't Josh: Here, did you tell? The Apex F1 Podcast: Well, maybe William Byron is the next Jeff Gordon. Who are you to say that, Paul? Don't you put that evil on Will Byron. He had a contention for that championship last year, and don't you deny that. Paul: Ladies and gentlemen, I know, no, no, I'm not denying it. I'm just like, a whole, I would love numbers to stick with drivers throughout their career because I have an Indy car hat that's signed by Will Power and it's got, he put 12 on it. Now it's like, you're not a 12 anymore. I don't know. ⁓ stupid now. The Apex F1 Podcast: I get that. I get that. Yeah, what is he like 28 now? Yeah, I think he's a 28 now. I don't know. The other driver, let's talk about, get back to the race. The other driver that I thought really, really, really executed well this weekend was Chase Elliott. I mean, like I thought he had a chance to win that race. I mean, he was right up there at the top, drove very, very level headed. I mean, other than if it weren't for Tyler Reddick being an absolute just. total anomaly out there on track this weekend. think Chase Elliott had a really good run at Ryan F. and Blaney always up in the mix and I love to see that. I mean, for the majority of the race, I thought it was gonna be between Ryan Blaney and Chase Elliott. And so it was really cool to see them battle it out and swap the lead of the lap so many times. I thought that was a lot of fun to watch. mean, Chase Elliott's always really strong, but he's not as ⁓ of big outspoken personality. So I think that he's a little bit... Paul: Well, hell. The Apex F1 Podcast: Not like well known, but he's just, he's not one of the people that are kind of like the face of NASCAR, but I really like him. I really do like him. Paul: Well, how Brad Kozlowski had a great had a great day. He led almost the entire race and just didn't quite have the car towards the towards the latter end of the race. But was another one that I thought was going to win that one for sure. And, know, just The Apex F1 Podcast: Yeah. couldn't pull it in at the end. He needs to sue NASCAR for the photo, the driver photo they use of him. Paul: He's like, he's got like that double chin going on. The Apex F1 Podcast: Yeah, he looks three times the size that he is. And when my mom was watching the race, she was like, wow, Brad Kaslowski's really changed. And I was like, yeah, that's just really unflattering photo, I think. And then after when they were interviewing him, my mom was like, okay, that's more the Brad I remember. I'm like, yeah, no, that's just a real bad driver photo. Paul: It's almost as bad as the willpower one in NASCAR. Willpower always looks surprised when he gets his picture taken. Yeah, it's like dude, we couldn't have taken a better picture. That's all I'm saying. It kind of, it reminds me of high school yearbook and then the picture day when they just took whatever, whatever you were just done. And it didn't matter what you look like. There's just, that's what they're going to put all over, all over the world to see. The Apex F1 Podcast: Ugh. Hey, speaking of Willpower, did you see the Pato Willpower meetup in the Lucchese store? I was not expecting that crossover. Andretti was in the Lucchese store getting the guy's boots and Willpower was in there picking out his boots and Pato came in and went over and Andretti posted the video of Pato coming into Lucchese store. Josh: you The Apex F1 Podcast: And he's like, what are you guys doing here? And he goes over to Will and he like wants to see the boots that Will picked. And Will was like, do you like them? What do you think? And Pat was like, yeah, man, those are sick. I brought mine from home. And he's like, yeah, I felt like you'd like these. I just, thought it was a real cool crossover. Paul: No, I'm gonna have to go look into that one. The Apex F1 Podcast: probably still on my Instagram story. You know me. Anything willpower or patto. Repost! Paul: repost and while we're on the willpower paddle train week IndyCar is in the great state of Alabama for for ⁓ it 90 laps 2.3 miles and ⁓ it's gonna be fun i love having IndyCar back on back on track it'll be interesting to see how they do who else is gonna win it seems like we're getting a new race winner every okay yes ma'am yes ma'am she said it Josh: Hmm The Apex F1 Podcast: Barber! Willpower is gonna win. Paul: And we're going to start the IndyCar points now and she starts with well power first. The Apex F1 Podcast: I will not take a deduction on the point system. Let me throw that out there. I will not. do love barber though. What's cool about when you fly into Birmingham, Alabama, right you land in the airport, they essentially down a baggage claim, it's essentially a museum down there. They've got old cars, they got old buyer suits, they've got gloves, they've got tons of stuff signed by drivers. And then when you're driving, because I have a customer that's in Tuscaloosa, so I fly into Birmingham and drive over to Tuscaloosa. And when you drive past, you pass barber. I mean, and it's just massive out there and it's cool, but I would absolutely love to go out to that Barber Speedway and do the museum and stuff that's out there, but it's really cool. And I just like think, I had no idea flying into Birmingham that they were gonna have like essentially a little museum. Like they even have a car that's up like sideways mounted in the windows, which I think is a super cool thing when you're flying into Birmingham. Paul: Yeah, I got nothing else to add yet. So hopefully it's going to be a great weekend in Barber. did we talk about the Freedom 250 and the track layout? No. The Apex F1 Podcast: Let's save that for one of our episodes during off season or during that break. You can do a full rundown in April when there's a break. Cause I think that could be like a whole episode in and of itself because the track layout, the merch they've designed, how they're setting up the event, how quickly they're turning it around, especially in comparison to how F1 is turning events around. Like, I don't know if y'all saw the posts about the Madring and the current status, 173 days out from the Madring. Paul: Done. Well, yeah. So they finally... Josh: Not much to lose. The Apex F1 Podcast: Like, right, we're talking about tight timelines here and the comparison of what it takes to set up races new places and how quickly this Freedom 250 thing came up and it being a street race, I think that would be really good. And ⁓ hope they can take some really great notes from Arlington, from the Arlington Grand Prix being such a successful, smooth street race. Paul: Wait, is the F1 track in Madrid still not ready to go? Josh: ⁓ god no. The Apex F1 Podcast: Not even close. Paul: And when is that race? Josh: 70 days. The Apex F1 Podcast: 170 days, yeah. Paul: Damn. And when we say not even close, are we talking about like, we still need to put cement down? Josh: I mean, like everything is like, it's steel girders. It's like the trusses are up and that's it. Paul: Damn. Josh: for like the superstructures, yeah. Paul: Man, that's, now is this gonna be a is this gonna be a street track or is this gonna be like a circuit? Wow, and they have, what's the holdup? Does anybody know? The Apex F1 Podcast: No, it's a set track. It's a circuit. Josh: siestas. Paul: This fool this yes does are you saying we're all lazy people The Apex F1 Podcast: Great homework! siestas and sangrias. Josh: You're not Spanish. It's literally not. Paul: It's all the same thing. It's all Spanish heritage. The Apex F1 Podcast: No, you don't use vosotros, sir. So until you start throwing around some vosotros up in this podcast, you don't get to call yourself Spanish. Paul: and on breaking news, we are going to start a Spanish version of the Apex F1 podcast. So I'm looking for two whole co-hosts that are bilingual that we can totally do this with. The Apex F1 Podcast: Honestly, I could chop my way through it. Paul: and it's gonna be nothing and it's gonna be nothing it's gonna be nothing but vosotros tenses the entire podcast The Apex F1 Podcast: There it is, we knew it would happen. He's pimping himself out. Please tell me I've seen the social media lady that impersonates the, I don't know why it's such a universal experience, the white Spanish teacher. And ⁓ my gosh, I've got to send it to you guys. It's like, it's, I it was just me. I had a white redheaded lady that taught my Spanish class and she accentuated ⁓ everything would say. And then I got on this whole TikTok feed about it and it is... Paul: No. The Apex F1 Podcast: Apparently other people also had this experience about white ladies that lived in, you know, went and studied abroad and they decided to be Spanish teachers and they accentuate everything so much. They'll send it to you so you can get a good laugh. Paul: When I took Spanish in high school and I got a B, my teacher was white. Josh: Sounds like you should have studied. Paul: you get an A in English you idiot? Josh: Yeah, I did as a matter of fact. The Apex F1 Podcast: I don't want to rub it in, but I definitely got A's in Spanish for five years. And then I also got A's in Spanish in college, Paul, so. Paul: Yeah All right, we're. shutting this podcast down. It's it's done. It's this is stupid. The Apex F1 Podcast: will say one of my most memorable days college was I had interviewed a director position for a student organization that I was in and I didn't get it. And the night I found out was May 4th. So course I called my best friend Lizzie and I'm like, we got to go to the bar. We're getting drunk. I didn't get this director position. We're going out. We're partying. And so we And then I have Spanish class the next morning. Definitely, definitely still drunk. And I definitely took a margarita class in my coffee mug and I absolutely straight up wore a sombrero II class on Cinco de Mayo. Highly offensive, but looking back, a quintessential college experience that I now look back on and I'm like, Jesus Mary and Joseph, nobody thought to be like, what the F are you doing? And I clearly didn't have a thought to think that, but you know, it builds character. We've learned. Paul: That's not cultural appropriation at all. Josh: Beautiful. It was synchro to myo, it's fine. If there's a day to do it. Paul: Hey, it was Mayf, well, yeah, that's fair. All right. And in norm. The Apex F1 Podcast: We've learned. the only class I went to that day, that's for sure. Josh: If there was one day to do it, come on. It's like having a barbecue on 4th July. It's just part of it. The Apex F1 Podcast: Yeah, I have to. It was one of those things where I wouldn't have gone, but it was like if I missed one more class, I was gonna get a grade letter drop and I just couldn't do it. Paul: It's a Josh: There you go. Paul: It's like last week, we're all Irish. The Apex F1 Podcast: Hey, I wasn't. up thought we were all wearing black on the podcast last week. And then Josh was like, no, I was wearing green. was St. Patrick's Day. ⁓ didn't even know I didn't have a green beer or anything. I didn't wear green the entire day. Josh: It was. Paul: I don't mean either. Josh: Well, whatever. That's my favorite holiday. favorite drinking holiday. ⁓ say that. It's not my favorite holiday. Paul: White people, white people. Yeah, I mean, who doesn't? Josh: What do you, drinking? ⁓ The Apex F1 Podcast: See, mine's football season. I'm like kickoff of football season equals my favorite drinking days. Paul: And in normal Apex F1 podcast, this podcast has gone off the rails. Now we're talking, we're out talking. The Apex F1 Podcast: Well, we went from ship analogies at the beginning to now we're a train and we're off the rails. So you gotta pick one analogy, Josh: Yeah, we've we've hit rough seas. How about that? Paul: Happy Waters. Josh: a little rough out here. ⁓ Paul: All right, any last final thoughts on motorsports, racing, anything we wanna talk about, anything that we missed. The Apex F1 Podcast: Nothing else that wouldn't take us down a 15 minute rabbit hole. Paul: know absolutely we can talk more let's let's talk more conspiracy theories while we're here who killed JFK let's get into that The Apex F1 Podcast: My mom thinks the world is ending. No, my mom is kind of doomsdaying right now. Like she told me they're putting a well in and she thinks that, you know, in the next three years that they're going to just be entire global nuclear missile attacks. And she was like, we need to have a family plan. And I'm like, I'm just going to keep living my life. Like if I, and she was like, she was like, I'd be worried about going to California right now because you know, if they bomb California, I go, I'm going to Pebble beach. If I go out getting bombed at Pebble Beach, at least I went out looking at a sunset. That's best case scenario. I don't want to live in a post-missile world. Bomb me. Eviscerate me. Let me not have an afterlife. Josh: That's a nice voice to go though. No, I hope I get smoked. Yeah, I'm out. Yeah, I'm not. Paul: Unless you're golfing a good round and then maybe they could wait a little bit to bomb you. The Apex F1 Podcast: No, no, end on the high note. Not even a chance to miss that par putt. Yeah. Bomb that drive and bomb this fairway. We're done. Josh: No, it's fine. you're going on a high, yeah, you're going, you're doing good. You're just going out. Paul: Fair enough. And while we're getting ready for the world to go to hell, let's just enjoy motorsports. This is a great time of year. day of baseball starts on Thursday. March Madness is in full swing, or my bracket has gone to hell really quick. The Apex F1 Podcast: That's right. Josh: Yep. Go balls. The Apex F1 Podcast: There's not a single bracket left that's intact. Paul: No, no, I had Wisconsin, Wisconsin, had them, go ahead, I had them at least beating High Point. Who, where is High Point? That's not even a real school, Josh, it's not real. I don't know, it's stupid. Nobody cares. And they lost. My bracket went to hell. Josh: That was dumb. That was your first mistake. The Apex F1 Podcast: batters North Carolina? Josh: to the real school. The Apex F1 Podcast: Yeah, high points in North Carolina. Well, you would be amazed to know how much of your furniture and home decor comes based out of High Point, North Carolina. It's one of the biggest furniture showrooms in the world. Paul: All right, smart ass. Can you just let me be angry for two seconds? Thank you. But yes, also don't scuff at baseball. It's America's pastime. The Apex F1 Podcast: Yeah, you can always be angry.
