- 0:03Speaker 1: This is a podcast call twenty five wist sorts and
- 0:08Speaker 1: they go wear a whistle. So yet it's too bad?
- 0:11Speaker 2: But what did you expect?
- 0:13Speaker 1: It's a podcast call twenty five whistles, twenty wine.
- 0:18Speaker 3: Win blow that whistle? You know it has come to
- 0:21Speaker 3: my attention. I'd like to say hi to everybody who
- 0:23Speaker 3: listens to this show who is not a sports fan.
- 0:27Speaker 3: And what I would also like to say is, I'm
- 0:32Speaker 3: gonna give you guys a strong ten minutes of nonsports
- 0:36Speaker 3: or sports adjacent at the beginning of every episode.
- 0:39Speaker 1: Oh that's nice.
- 0:39Speaker 3: Well, because we have a lot of listeners that will go, hey,
- 0:41Speaker 3: I listen sometimes, but I don't really like sports, and
- 0:43Speaker 3: I'm like, oh my god, we must bore you. Like
- 0:46Speaker 3: I could recommend you four other podcasts to listen to.
- 0:49Speaker 3: Thank you, yes, and feel free to hit me up
- 0:52Speaker 3: in DMS and be like, hey, I don't really like
- 0:53Speaker 3: sports that much about I like listen to the show.
- 0:55Speaker 3: So we're still going to talk sports, although sometimes we don't.
- 0:59Speaker 3: But I like to give you a solid ten at
- 1:01Speaker 3: the beginning of sports or just not total sports like
- 1:05Speaker 3: nerd out. So I'd like to start with this one.
- 1:07Speaker 1: Did you blow the whistle, I blew it.
- 1:10Speaker 3: We're on baby, Yep, it's me Kevin Brandon and Eddie.
- 1:16Speaker 3: A man says his life will never be the same
- 1:18Speaker 3: again after he was on a flight and he asked
- 1:22Speaker 3: for some coffee and the coffee was really hot and
- 1:25Speaker 3: it burned his penis.
- 1:27Speaker 1: Like Bad.
- 1:28Speaker 3: Bad suffered severe burns to his penis when a cup
- 1:31Speaker 3: of hot coffee spilled into his lap during a Virgin
- 1:33Speaker 3: Atlantic flight from Las Vegas. He forty one claims a
- 1:38Speaker 3: lidless cup tipped over due to a slanted tray table,
- 1:42Speaker 3: leaving him an excruciating pain and requiring treatment on board
- 1:46Speaker 3: for blistering burns. Do you have to pull it out
- 1:49Speaker 3: like if it's burning? And because the thing about flight
- 1:53Speaker 3: attendants that I've learned from knowing a couple is that
- 1:55Speaker 3: the job they're doing in the air isn't really the
- 1:57Speaker 3: job they're paid to do. They are paid to do
- 1:59Speaker 3: that job, but the job they're paid to do is
- 2:02Speaker 3: any emergency that happens that hopefully doesn't happen that they
- 2:05Speaker 3: are educated and qualified to do. So you don't want
- 2:08Speaker 3: a flight attendant to have to do all the jobs
- 2:10Speaker 3: are qualified to do. I get that, are they qualified
- 2:15Speaker 3: to pull out a penis and put cream on it,
- 2:21Speaker 3: and do you do that there you have to? Or
- 2:24Speaker 3: does he just do it in the restroom?
- 2:26Speaker 1: So they just give him the ointment and be like,
- 2:28Speaker 1: all right, go handle it.
- 2:30Speaker 3: And then all of a sudden, you here that did
- 2:32Speaker 3: ain't he's go burn hand.
- 2:39Speaker 1: Man. That's crazy though, Like see back in the day,
- 2:42Speaker 1: you know there was the whole McDonald's lawsuit because somebody
- 2:45Speaker 1: burned their lap on hot coffee.
- 2:47Speaker 3: Does this guy own the airline? What happens here BBC?
- 2:49Speaker 3: Is that I don't know, because I don't know. Some
- 2:52Speaker 3: things are actually people's faults. And something that's slanted, yeah,
- 2:57Speaker 3: that's trouble. If there was a question like would you
- 3:01Speaker 3: like a lid for that and he said no, but
- 3:03Speaker 3: then the table was slanted, that could be something true.
- 3:05Speaker 3: I don't have enough of an understanding. It's exactly what happened,
- 3:09Speaker 3: except for his penis was burned. And that is a
- 3:12Speaker 3: strong start to this show.
- 3:14Speaker 1: It's no good sports.
- 3:15Speaker 3: Sports the other I made a list. Guys have so
- 3:18Speaker 3: much talk about and so this is not really going
- 3:23Speaker 3: This is gonna be sports, but only kind of Okay,
- 3:26Speaker 3: did you guys see the twelve year old. The guy
- 3:27Speaker 3: suspended for five years and his dad for life from
- 3:29Speaker 3: the Little League.
- 3:30Speaker 4: No, okay, ah, I think so.
- 3:33Speaker 3: So there's this kid, he's on the mound and there
- 3:37Speaker 3: had been some jabber jeawn between teams. Twelve years old,
- 3:40Speaker 3: so you're talking what sixth seventh grader?
- 3:42Speaker 1: Yeah, twelve years old, sixth grade.
- 3:44Speaker 3: He gets up to pitch and the wind up the
- 3:47Speaker 3: delivery and he chunks it right at the dugout of
- 3:50Speaker 3: the opposing team.
- 3:51Speaker 1: I like it. That's funny. That's funny. It's just funny.
- 3:55Speaker 1: It's not my kid, you know, so outside that's not
- 3:59Speaker 1: good a kid, Yeah, it's not good because the dad
- 4:02Speaker 1: told him to do it.
- 4:03Speaker 3: So he gets up in a chunks of baseball as
- 4:05Speaker 3: hard as he can at a kid and the other
- 4:07Speaker 3: just a dugout of other players. You like that?
- 4:09Speaker 1: I mean the story like if it was watching a
- 4:11Speaker 1: movie and that happened, like that's funny. But no, no, no, no, dude.
- 4:14Speaker 1: If I was there, that was my kid, my team,
- 4:16Speaker 1: Uh huh, it's not good.
- 4:17Speaker 3: What if it was the opposing team?
- 4:19Speaker 1: Even worse because you're throwing it in my kid's dugout
- 4:21Speaker 1: and your kid got hit. Yeah, not good.
- 4:23Speaker 3: Like I like stupid stuff. I don't like that.
- 4:25Speaker 1: So they got banned, like what happened on.
- 4:27Speaker 3: The kid has been banned for five years from playing
- 4:29Speaker 3: in any leagues in that town apparently, and the dad
- 4:32Speaker 3: suspended for life. Wow, now here's the problem I have.
- 4:35Speaker 3: The kid should not be suspended for five years. The
- 4:37Speaker 3: kid was doing what his dad told him.
- 4:38Speaker 1: Correct.
- 4:39Speaker 3: If you want to take him out of that game,
- 4:41Speaker 3: maybe another game or two.
- 4:42Speaker 1: I get it.
- 4:43Speaker 3: That twelve year old is just doing what pops said
- 4:46Speaker 3: to do. Yep, and that sucks. So it's wild to
- 4:51Speaker 3: see because he just gets up and he looks good
- 4:52Speaker 3: and strong like those hard and he's up. Then the
- 4:56Speaker 3: wind up turns WAPs it to the dugout over there.
- 5:00Speaker 1: And in reality, you know, like a dad banned for
- 5:04Speaker 1: life unless he has like a bunch of kids, that's
- 5:06Speaker 1: gonna that's gonna hurt, you know, like he's because now
- 5:08Speaker 1: he won't be able to coach his other kids. But
- 5:10Speaker 1: if that's his only kid and your band for life, you're.
- 5:12Speaker 3: Like, okay, whatever, Like that's a loser dad.
- 5:14Speaker 1: It's a big time.
- 5:15Speaker 3: I feel bad for the kid because he's got that
- 5:17Speaker 3: loser dad that is raising him and is teaching him
- 5:21Speaker 3: values a lot of bad values. That's a loser, dad.
- 5:24Speaker 4: Yeah, because what did he do when they're not on
- 5:26Speaker 4: the ball field? Yeah, as far as what he's teaching
- 5:29Speaker 4: right right.
- 5:30Speaker 3: Justice for Braxton is.
- 5:32Speaker 1: That his name Braxton?
- 5:33Speaker 3: No, I just figured did a twelve year old's name
- 5:36Speaker 3: is Braxton? Who's a picture? Yeah?
- 5:38Speaker 2: Cool?
- 5:41Speaker 1: Okay? All right?
- 5:41Speaker 3: Do you have a heart on your hand?
- 5:44Speaker 2: Uh?
- 5:45Speaker 5: It's They thought it was a tattoo. I was told
- 5:48Speaker 5: to ask this because I don't well, they were making
- 5:50Speaker 5: fun of me. We weren't making fun like you guys
- 5:52Speaker 5: were making fun of me hard.
- 5:53Speaker 1: Oh my gosh.
- 5:54Speaker 5: Every morning me and my wife were getting our five
- 5:56Speaker 5: year old ready for school. You know, they were like,
- 5:59Speaker 5: all right, today, it's gonna be a great day. And
- 6:01Speaker 5: we draw hard on each of our hands to where
- 6:03Speaker 5: at any point in the day if we miss each other,
- 6:05Speaker 5: we just look at the heart and we hugged the heart.
- 6:09Speaker 1: That's sweet.
- 6:09Speaker 3: You guys were laughing at him when I walked in,
- 6:11Speaker 3: and I didn't know why exactly.
- 6:12Speaker 1: No, no, because the joke was like, he's like, so
- 6:14Speaker 1: if you see me hugging my fist, you know what
- 6:16Speaker 1: I'm doing. And we're like, ha, ha, that's funny. You
- 6:19Speaker 1: should tell Bobby, so is the.
- 6:20Speaker 3: Heart you're hugging your wife or your son.
- 6:22Speaker 5: Our son like it's for him really, like when he's
- 6:24Speaker 5: at school if he gets sad or whatever, he just
- 6:27Speaker 5: looks at the heart.
- 6:27Speaker 3: And you guys think that's funny.
- 6:29Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, I mean yeah.
- 6:33Speaker 1: Also the kid throwing into the dugout too. Maybe I'm
- 6:35Speaker 1: just twisted man. Yeah, checked my mind out this bad day.
- 6:42Speaker 5: All right.
- 6:42Speaker 3: I got one more sports adjacent e story. Did you
- 6:45Speaker 3: guys see the tennis players shove the girl?
- 6:47Speaker 2: Yes?
- 6:48Speaker 1: I did, and it's a weird angle. He didn't shove her, okay,
- 6:51Speaker 1: because I was gonna say, it's a weird angle where
- 6:53Speaker 1: it looks like maybe she just moved.
- 6:55Speaker 3: But it looks pulled up. His name is Raphael j
- 7:01Speaker 3: O d a R. It looks like when he's walking
- 7:04Speaker 3: off he lifts his arm up and shoves the ballgirl
- 7:06Speaker 3: back into the wall.
- 7:07Speaker 1: That's it does look like it.
- 7:09Speaker 3: I'm telling you. When I saw it, I thought, what
- 7:10Speaker 3: a freaking loser. Yeah, I'm gonna get Kevin's it's the reaction.
- 7:14Speaker 3: Do you have the video I'm looking for right now?
- 7:18Speaker 3: If you just type in oh.
- 7:19Speaker 2: Yeah, it does look like it.
- 7:21Speaker 1: I mean I believed it.
- 7:23Speaker 3: I thought, Wow, if that dude did that, he is
- 7:26Speaker 3: such a loser. But then I thought, there's no one
- 7:27Speaker 3: gonna do that because that is so bad. Yeah, you
- 7:32Speaker 3: can tell because she's like in the way and she's
- 7:34Speaker 3: like whoa. So the internet just blows up on this dude, like,
- 7:37Speaker 3: how could you hit a ball girl just because you're
- 7:39Speaker 3: upset walking off the court. He's walking off the court,
- 7:42Speaker 3: he lifts his arm up to like wave at people,
- 7:44Speaker 3: and right about the time she's trying to get out
- 7:45Speaker 3: of the way, and she gets her feet hanged, like
- 7:47Speaker 3: stumbling backward and like falls into the wall, just trying
- 7:50Speaker 3: to get out of the wave. And it looks because
- 7:53Speaker 3: it's the exact angle like he nailed her.
- 7:56Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:56Speaker 4: I mean, they couldn't have timed it or perfect it
- 7:59Speaker 4: to make it look like he It looked real.
- 8:01Speaker 3: How about that? That's pretty funny?
- 8:02Speaker 5: Huh wow?
- 8:03Speaker 1: Yesterday I was watching NASCAR last night and some dudes
- 8:05Speaker 1: to sports no no, no, no, okay, and some dude Rex
- 8:08Speaker 1: or whatever. But his car is still running and he's
- 8:10Speaker 1: going he's gonna go back in the garage like he's
- 8:12Speaker 1: quitting the race, and there's he makes the turn to
- 8:15Speaker 1: go into like where all the cars are, like where
- 8:17Speaker 1: all the team trucks are whatever, And when he makes
- 8:21Speaker 1: the turn, there are two people just standing in the
- 8:23Speaker 1: middle of the gate like talking like a da da
- 8:25Speaker 1: da dude. They almost got hit by the car. It
- 8:27Speaker 1: was crazy. One girl grabs the other girl. They're just
- 8:30Speaker 1: like move. It was hilarious, Like, dang, that was close.
- 8:33Speaker 3: Did we talk about the Ferrari fully electric car on
- 8:36Speaker 3: this show?
- 8:37Speaker 2: No? No, I don't think we did.
- 8:39Speaker 3: Did I do it on guys? I'm stretched too thin.
- 8:42Speaker 3: I don't know where I'm talking about stuff anymore, and
- 8:43Speaker 3: I keep pretty diligent notes of everything. But I had
- 8:46Speaker 3: this conversation recently about Ferrari has revealed its first fully
- 8:51Speaker 3: electric car. And this car is like a seven hundred
- 8:53Speaker 3: thousand dollars car. Wow, And it looks like Corolla.
- 8:59Speaker 2: Oh does he?
- 9:00Speaker 3: Well, it does look like it looks a little space
- 9:02Speaker 3: ag and it's like two tone is not the words
- 9:06Speaker 3: that's where like my uncle uses. But it's like it's
- 9:09Speaker 3: blue and like the hood's black, and it's got some
- 9:11Speaker 3: cool cult And I only saw a couple of pictures,
- 9:14Speaker 3: but the internet was taking a crap on it because
- 9:16Speaker 3: it's like seven hundred thousand dollars for a car, and
- 9:17Speaker 3: it looks like that. But Ferrari has revealed its first
- 9:21Speaker 3: fully electric car.
- 9:22Speaker 5: Yeah, that does not look like a Ferrari, right, like
- 9:24Speaker 5: one of those leafs you remember, the Nissan Leaf or whatever.
- 9:29Speaker 3: It is priced entry about six hundred and forty thousand dollars,
- 9:33Speaker 3: so much it blends Ferrari's signature performance with a family friendly, roomy, seeding,
- 9:40Speaker 3: high in tech, a large trunk. If I'm paying seven
- 9:43Speaker 3: hundred thousand dollars for a car, don't put the large
- 9:45Speaker 3: trunk in the first five things. I need better things.
- 9:47Speaker 1: Yeah, the trunk is last.
- 9:49Speaker 3: I do want to be surprised at the trunk. I
- 9:53Speaker 3: don't really want that to be one of the top
- 9:55Speaker 3: three things you list on a seven hundred thousand dollars car.
- 9:58Speaker 1: Is it fast?
- 9:58Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 9:59Speaker 3: It goes one hundred and nine miles an hour?
- 10:00Speaker 1: Wow?
- 10:04Speaker 3: What I mean?
- 10:05Speaker 2: Have you seen it?
- 10:05Speaker 1: No?
- 10:06Speaker 2: Look at it?
- 10:07Speaker 1: Show me, I got it.
- 10:09Speaker 3: Brandon Gatchi's next year.
- 10:11Speaker 5: I mean literally, that's the Leaf and that's the Ferrari.
- 10:14Speaker 1: Oh yeah, and a little more aerodynamic.
- 10:16Speaker 3: Looks like a toy, But you're right, if you just
- 10:19Speaker 3: love the brand Ferrari and you love electric, and you
- 10:22Speaker 3: really want a big trunk, like I get it. You
- 10:25Speaker 3: want that trunk because I don't think that every expensive
- 10:28Speaker 3: car needs to scream. My non Hyundai. I don't think
- 10:33Speaker 3: that screams, but some people do. Like it's an suv.
- 10:37Speaker 3: You never paid a lot for that.
- 10:39Speaker 1: You're non Hyundai.
- 10:40Speaker 3: Yeah, is that what we're calling it? Well, it's been
- 10:42Speaker 3: it's been brought out before, but I just don't like
- 10:45Speaker 3: saying it. It feels so flexy. I don't like that
- 10:48Speaker 3: because I'm not driving it. I literally am not driving
- 10:51Speaker 3: it as a flex Does that go fast? I don't know?
- 10:54Speaker 1: Yeah, you haven't.
- 10:55Speaker 3: No, I'm not once. No, I'm not.
- 10:58Speaker 1: A car guy like pedal to the met dude one time?
- 11:01Speaker 3: Never, And I never drive it with the engine almost never.
- 11:04Speaker 3: It's always electric. Electric goes fast anyway because there is
- 11:08Speaker 3: there's no fuel injection, so there's no time because a
- 11:11Speaker 3: lot of times you have to gas take a second
- 11:13Speaker 3: to get the fuel injections. I didn't even know that
- 11:15Speaker 3: I build electric and.
- 11:16Speaker 5: It sounds like it sounds like a real engine, can
- 11:18Speaker 5: you Well, I can flip it both, that's right.
- 11:22Speaker 3: So it is forty or fifty miles electric and then
- 11:26Speaker 3: it goes to gas. But I don't ever drive it
- 11:28Speaker 3: forty or fifty miles. I just get home and plug
- 11:29Speaker 3: it by count. I never put gas in it. That's great,
- 11:32Speaker 3: that's it's amazing. But if I want to flex and
- 11:35Speaker 3: hit it, I hit a button and it goes to
- 11:37Speaker 3: the engine. Have you heard it?
- 11:39Speaker 2: Oh?
- 11:39Speaker 3: Yeah, so I'm imagining it goes fast, but I don't know.
- 11:44Speaker 1: It sounds like it goes fast.
- 11:45Speaker 3: Yeah, So I would say I have that it was
- 11:49Speaker 3: not for the reason to flex a car because it's
- 11:50Speaker 3: an suv. I don't think it's a flex at all
- 11:52Speaker 3: unless you're like a hardcore car person. If I were
- 11:55Speaker 3: to see this car driving around, I want to be like, dang,
- 11:57Speaker 3: that's a seven hundred thousand dollars Ferrari. No, I would know,
- 12:00Speaker 3: But I don't think you buy this if your interest
- 12:02Speaker 3: is flexing, you just think you like the Ferrari brand.
- 12:07Speaker 3: Just yeah saying hey I own a Ferrari. Maybe that's
- 12:10Speaker 3: it too.
- 12:10Speaker 1: I mean that sounds cool.
- 12:11Speaker 3: Are Ferrari's generally expensive?
- 12:14Speaker 1: I would believe.
- 12:15Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 12:15Speaker 4: I would say so, because I feel like all car
- 12:17Speaker 4: brands that don't have commercials are expensive.
- 12:20Speaker 3: Oh that's a I've never thought about it like that.
- 12:23Speaker 1: Ferrari doesn't have commercials.
- 12:24Speaker 3: Seen one. They don't need to show anything to her.
- 12:26Speaker 3: Mama's family, family family matters reruns. Yeah, ever seen that happen?
- 12:34Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 12:34Speaker 3: I know they're expensive, but I mean like expensive.
- 12:37Speaker 5: Go two hundred and fifty thousand to six hundred thousands,
- 12:39Speaker 5: that's expensive.
- 12:41Speaker 2: If you want.
- 12:41Speaker 5: One, just buy a regular one. Don't buy the weird
- 12:44Speaker 5: looking one.
- 12:45Speaker 3: Unless this has some crazy trunk trunk.
- 12:49Speaker 1: Oh man, that's trunk. Yeah.
- 12:51Speaker 3: I wonder how Fari goes, because my Hyundai goes I
- 12:53Speaker 3: think maybe almost four hundred miles on a full dan.
- 12:59Speaker 3: It's a lot. Whenever the ice storm hit and our
- 13:02Speaker 3: power we lost all of our power. We our power
- 13:05Speaker 3: was our Hundai for three days. We plugged everything.
- 13:08Speaker 1: A minute that still worked.
- 13:09Speaker 3: Yeah, and it had It's awesome.
- 13:13Speaker 1: Would y'all sit in there too? Sometimes?
- 13:14Speaker 2: Yes?
- 13:15Speaker 3: I wouldn't go watch stuff.
- 13:18Speaker 1: Oh like on your phone? Yeah?
- 13:19Speaker 3: Yeah, keep it powered up. We both go sitting there
- 13:21Speaker 3: and there's heat because he turned the heater on.
- 13:23Speaker 1: I'm not sure if I like this or not, but
- 13:26Speaker 1: like those Volkswagen buses, the new electricity you've seen them.
- 13:30Speaker 5: Those are really cool.
- 13:31Speaker 1: Like I keep seeing them around and I'm like, oh,
- 13:33Speaker 1: I don't I like because I love the buses. I
- 13:36Speaker 1: love the old antique like nineteen sixties VW buses, you
- 13:40Speaker 1: know where they have like sinks and couches in them
- 13:42Speaker 1: and all that. So I don't know if I'm just
- 13:44Speaker 1: stuck on that or I like really like the new
- 13:46Speaker 1: electric ones.
- 13:47Speaker 3: Probably mostly the first, but a little the second.
- 13:50Speaker 2: My wife once one.
- 13:51Speaker 1: So bad.
- 13:51Speaker 3: They're cool?
- 13:52Speaker 1: How much are they?
- 13:53Speaker 5: They're pretty? I mean they're up there, like I think
- 13:55Speaker 5: they started the brand new they're.
- 13:57Speaker 1: Like eighty oh wow, wow, that's all.
- 13:59Speaker 5: And they stopped making them this year and they'll they'll
- 14:02Speaker 5: start making them in twenty seven, so maybe the twenty
- 14:05Speaker 5: fives will start going or the twenty fours will go down.
- 14:08Speaker 1: And if you had an electric can you just plug
- 14:11Speaker 1: it into the.
- 14:11Speaker 3: Wall, just the wall, so yes. But it charges a
- 14:14Speaker 3: lot slower, so yes.
- 14:17Speaker 1: And I mean like the outlet you would plug it back.
- 14:19Speaker 3: You can bring in the studio, plug it in at
- 14:22Speaker 3: you could. It charges a lot slower. Okay, what we
- 14:25Speaker 3: had to do is replace because I've had an electric
- 14:28Speaker 3: car in some form for the past seven or eight years.
- 14:31Speaker 3: You have to basically put in this is a stupid
- 14:33Speaker 3: way to say a washer and dryer type input.
- 14:36Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I know whatever that is.
- 14:37Speaker 3: Yes, yeah, and then it charges a lot faster.
- 14:40Speaker 1: Okay, that's cool.
- 14:41Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 14:41Speaker 5: These Ferraris go two hundred and fifty to three hundred miles.
- 14:45Speaker 3: Dang, so not even that far from an electric Oh
- 14:48Speaker 3: I thought speed me too, My bad?
- 14:49Speaker 2: Like what no, I told you a.
- 14:50Speaker 3: Hundred ninety I know, But then he said that on
- 14:53Speaker 3: a three hundred a road car that goes three hundred,
- 14:56Speaker 3: that's like a rocket. Okay, that's fourteen minutes. We've got
- 14:59Speaker 3: to fourteen minutes without a huge sports I'm gonna say this,
- 15:06Speaker 3: this controversial wimban Yama is not that good. I'm gonna
- 15:10Speaker 3: tell he's just tall. He's good, but he's just tall.
- 15:13Speaker 1: What are you talking about? That is the dumbest thing
- 15:15Speaker 1: you've ever said.
- 15:16Speaker 3: If you're a smart man, if he were six seven,
- 15:19Speaker 3: he'd just be a fair NBA player.
- 15:20Speaker 1: Do you know what a tall fair NBA player looks like?
- 15:24Speaker 3: Rudy Gobert. No, he's better than no Fair. He's like
- 15:27Speaker 3: defensive end. He's defensive Player of the Year multiple years.
- 15:30Speaker 1: Okay, so he can block. Great, You're tall, dude, you
- 15:31Speaker 1: should be able to block this guy. Wimby shoots three. Yes,
- 15:35Speaker 1: he drives like a point guard if.
- 15:37Speaker 3: He wasn't seven foot five, and he is, so you
- 15:39Speaker 3: can't take that away from him. He's tall and he's
- 15:42Speaker 3: pretty good. But because he's so tall, he's awesome. It's
- 15:45Speaker 3: so funny you say that.
- 15:46Speaker 4: I was watching the games the other day and I
- 15:47Speaker 4: was like, I've here heard all this hype about Wimby
- 15:50Speaker 4: for years and I haven't sat there and watched a
- 15:51Speaker 4: bunch of Spurs game and.
- 15:53Speaker 3: I'm like, he's good.
- 15:55Speaker 4: You know he's gonna get a lot better. But I'm like,
- 15:57Speaker 4: I don't even think he's the best player on the
- 15:59Speaker 4: floor tonight. I mean, obviously what night, but Game seven,
- 16:02Speaker 4: just for one example.
- 16:03Speaker 3: Wemby's awesome, dude. But I'm telling you it's only because
- 16:06Speaker 3: he's tall.
- 16:07Speaker 1: I think it's amazing to see a tall guy move
- 16:09Speaker 1: the way he does and play basketball the way he does.
- 16:12Speaker 3: I agree all that I agree with, and it's stupid
- 16:15Speaker 3: to go, well, we're gonna make him worse because he's tall,
- 16:18Speaker 3: because that's not fair. I'm just saying he if he
- 16:22Speaker 3: if he's Kevin Durant's height, he's not as good. Kevin
- 16:26Speaker 3: Durant's seven foot tall.
- 16:28Speaker 1: I see what you're saying.
- 16:29Speaker 3: But Wenby's awesome and he's gonna be awesome and if
- 16:31Speaker 3: he can stay healthy. But I do picture him getting
- 16:34Speaker 3: hurt randomly like Kevin Durant did for seasons at a time,
- 16:36Speaker 3: just because he's so long.
- 16:38Speaker 1: Look at it. I mean, every time he falls, it's like,
- 16:39Speaker 1: oh my gosh, his knees gonna break.
- 16:43Speaker 3: Tired too, always looks tired. I like Wemby man.
- 16:48Speaker 1: I was like, I got a little mad there.
- 16:50Speaker 2: No.
- 16:50Speaker 3: I like Webby a lot. I do because it cares. Yeah, yeah,
- 16:53Speaker 3: I do like that. But I just think he's just
- 16:56Speaker 3: real tall. But he's a good But like Kevin Durant
- 17:00Speaker 3: is awesome, Kevin Durant is a shooter. I'm not comparing
- 17:03Speaker 3: the two really, except Kevin Durrant is a pure everything.
- 17:06Speaker 3: If you take three four inches off him, I think
- 17:08Speaker 3: he's just an elite guard. I think he's an elite
- 17:11Speaker 3: six eight tweener three four right.
- 17:16Speaker 1: But dude Wemby in his one handed rebounds, it's just
- 17:19Speaker 1: crazy to me.
- 17:20Speaker 3: Yeah, Womby's awesome he's awesome. I just think he's tall.
- 17:23Speaker 1: Yeah, how tall is he seven? Okay?
- 17:25Speaker 3: They say seven to five, but then you hear the
- 17:27Speaker 3: people that actually know go, he's seven six or seven seven.
- 17:30Speaker 1: Because he looks way, way, way, way taller than everyone else.
- 17:34Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 17:36Speaker 3: Yeah, it's weird because most basketball players want the extra
- 17:38Speaker 3: entry two lie.
- 17:40Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, that's right. They're trying to bring him down.
- 17:43Speaker 3: They're trying to bring him down a little bit, so
- 17:44Speaker 3: he's not such a freak. Woby's awesome.
- 17:46Speaker 1: Are you betting him on the champ?
- 17:50Speaker 6: No?
- 17:50Speaker 3: I don't think so. I don't have enough interest. We'll
- 17:54Speaker 3: talk about this in a little bit with Dan Wykeu's
- 17:56Speaker 3: coming on. Who was at the game, So that's all
- 17:58Speaker 3: coming up. I wanted Oklahoma City to win, and I
- 18:01Speaker 3: think they would have won had they had their full
- 18:04Speaker 3: arsenal players. But that's part of it. It's not even
- 18:06Speaker 3: an excuse, Like everybody has to be healthy to win,
- 18:09Speaker 3: so it's not an excuse. But so everyone crowning the
- 18:12Speaker 3: Spurs as the next great thing. I think they are
- 18:16Speaker 3: absolutely the favorite or co favorite every year, but Oklahoma
- 18:21Speaker 3: City is just as good if they're at full capacity.
- 18:25Speaker 3: Because the Spurs were full. How rare for the Spurs
- 18:29Speaker 3: to have everybody healthy everyone.
- 18:31Speaker 1: Yeah, I had some scares along the way, but yeah,
- 18:33Speaker 1: everyone for the most part is still playing great.
- 18:35Speaker 3: And I don't just like to I like the Spurs.
- 18:36Speaker 1: Fox missed a few games, Yeah, played.
- 18:40Speaker 3: Good, and he's not even I would I'd trade Fox tomorrow.
- 18:44Speaker 3: I think Harper is the dude on that team. I
- 18:47Speaker 3: know Castle, Harper doesn't start, Harper was injured a little bit. Dude,
- 18:52Speaker 3: give me Harper all day. That dude's awesome. I think
- 18:55Speaker 3: if if I were drafting from both those teams, Wimby first,
- 18:58Speaker 3: Shay second, I'm taking Harper third on a two team draft.
- 19:04Speaker 3: Sure you can be Castle.
- 19:05Speaker 1: Now, don't. I don't know their contract situation, but I
- 19:09Speaker 1: feel like, can this team stay together for a while?
- 19:13Speaker 3: Yeah, because they're all within their early deals. I had
- 19:16Speaker 3: pulled that. Oh man, what did I do with that?
- 19:19Speaker 3: I pulled exactly.
- 19:21Speaker 1: That because every time I'm like, oh, this team is
- 19:23Speaker 1: so good, and I started thinking like, oh, WELLNA be
- 19:25Speaker 1: able to keep this team together?
- 19:26Speaker 3: I lost it. Yeah for a while, Okay, good and cheap.
- 19:32Speaker 3: How about Celtics legend Luke Cornett.
- 19:35Speaker 1: Yeah, they forget Yeah, for sure, he definitely saved the game.
- 19:39Speaker 3: Do you want to know the only reason I know him,
- 19:41Speaker 3: it's not from the Celtics, it's from he was the
- 19:44Speaker 3: one that I think wrote the article about the Atlanta
- 19:47Speaker 3: Hawk's not having Stripper Night. Really he wrote the article, yeah,
- 19:51Speaker 3: for like any Players Tribune or something, so you may
- 19:53Speaker 3: look that up. So there are only two Cornets I know.
- 19:56Speaker 3: Jim Cornett had the tennis racket. I his wrestling manager
- 19:59Speaker 3: all during the eighties nineties. Luke Cornett, the basketball player,
- 20:02Speaker 3: the big white dude. I think whenever the Hawks were
- 20:05Speaker 3: going to have and I forget what the strip club
- 20:06Speaker 3: was called, Magic City Night. I think he's the one
- 20:09Speaker 3: that wrote the article.
- 20:09Speaker 1: Yeah right, Brandon, you knowed him out. You know that
- 20:12Speaker 1: plays Brandon?
- 20:13Speaker 3: Oh yeah, what did he so it was him?
- 20:15Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 20:15Speaker 3: He argued the collaboration was disrespectful to women. Wow, women
- 20:19Speaker 3: or women?
- 20:22Speaker 1: Disrespectful man a woman?
- 20:26Speaker 3: But what a block. What sucked was my father in
- 20:28Speaker 3: law was at that game. Oh yeah, that's like his
- 20:32Speaker 3: favorite thing in the world. This time, at least he.
- 20:34Speaker 1: Has a good game.
- 20:36Speaker 3: He had a bad weekend for sports and I messaged
- 20:39Speaker 3: him about it. I was like, dude, sorry, because he
- 20:40Speaker 3: went to Arkansas College World Series. We went to nine
- 20:45Speaker 3: innings and softball seven against Nebraska. It was an awesome game.
- 20:49Speaker 3: Nebraska is awesome. They have the best all around player
- 20:51Speaker 3: I've ever seen, and her name is Jordi ball At
- 20:53Speaker 3: Jordy from Now. We played the crap out of them.
- 20:56Speaker 3: They beat us for the home run at the very
- 20:57Speaker 3: end of the game extra innings.
- 20:58Speaker 1: He was there.
- 21:00Speaker 3: We had to play the loser game the next day.
- 21:02Speaker 3: You knew we were gonna lose. We played till midnight.
- 21:04Speaker 3: LA played earlier in the day that day they had rest.
- 21:07Speaker 3: We played late.
- 21:08Speaker 1: We checked in earlier. They were like down seven zero.
- 21:10Speaker 3: They start hitting home runs off of us. We had
- 21:11Speaker 3: to pitch people that pitch the whole night before.
- 21:13Speaker 1: Yeah, yes, I saw the same.
- 21:15Speaker 2: Yeah. It was just like black whack whack.
- 21:18Speaker 3: So he went to both of those games and then
- 21:19Speaker 3: to the thunder game.
- 21:21Speaker 5: A guy that good should not have to suffer three
- 21:24Speaker 5: losses like that. He's like the best dude, because he's
- 21:27Speaker 5: a good dude. He's the best. Yeah, he's the best dude.
- 21:29Speaker 5: He shouldn't have to suffer through all three of those.
- 21:31Speaker 3: I just want to hug him. Yeah, I'll have him
- 21:33Speaker 3: draw hard on his hand and then and then it'd
- 21:37Speaker 3: be great, you can hold the heart.
- 21:39Speaker 2: That's a good idea.
- 21:40Speaker 3: Okay, that's pretty good. That's pretty fun for you guys, though,
- 21:43Speaker 3: do you feel, honestly, do you feel like the Nicks
- 21:45Speaker 3: or nothing?
- 21:46Speaker 1: I do, Yeah, I do.
- 21:47Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 21:47Speaker 1: I mean the only doubt I have is they've blown
- 21:51Speaker 1: out every single team that they've played.
- 21:52Speaker 3: But it's the East.
- 21:53Speaker 1: But it is the East, so like I feel like
- 21:56Speaker 1: the Spurs have it. But I do think it's gonna
- 21:58Speaker 1: go seven games. I think it's gonna be clear.
- 22:00Speaker 3: So then everyone thinks, dude, chet sucks. Chet sucks, and
- 22:04Speaker 3: it's we shouldn't say that because here we are dopes
- 22:07Speaker 3: to don't play basketball.
- 22:08Speaker 1: We suck, we suck, we suck hard.
- 22:10Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, but we're not. It's like he was weird scared. Yeah,
- 22:15Speaker 3: he got dunked on the very beginning of that game seven.
- 22:19Speaker 3: He would he didn't want the ball.
- 22:20Speaker 2: Yeah, it was over.
- 22:21Speaker 3: It was like I was watching Rick and K. Yes,
- 22:28Speaker 3: so Rick and I was a pitcher, came up with
- 22:31Speaker 3: the Cardinals, was really good for a minute, then got
- 22:33Speaker 3: the big yips and got big scared and couldn't throw,
- 22:37Speaker 3: couldn't just couldn't throw and was like freaked out, mentally out.
- 22:40Speaker 3: He ended up coming back as an outfielder later in
- 22:42Speaker 3: his career, a pretty good outfielder too, but like he
- 22:45Speaker 3: just his mind exploded on him. I feel like that
- 22:49Speaker 3: happened to Chet. He did not want the ball. He
- 22:51Speaker 3: did not guard Wimby. You saw that. I was like,
- 22:54Speaker 3: that's Rick and K and my wife's like never heard
- 22:57Speaker 3: of him, Like anyway, moving on, look look him up.
- 22:59Speaker 1: Thanks were explained to me who it was. But you
- 23:02Speaker 1: know what's like, I feel like Game one there was
- 23:05Speaker 1: a weird and we never talked about this, but like,
- 23:07Speaker 1: did you you see the post interview with.
- 23:09Speaker 3: Shae, I don't know. At this point, they.
- 23:12Speaker 1: Interviewed Shae and they were talking about how he thought
- 23:15Speaker 1: Hardenstein did against Wimby, and he is like, you know,
- 23:21Speaker 1: I'm not gonna say that. He goes, you know, I
- 23:23Speaker 1: hit that he did good. He did good, and he's
- 23:25Speaker 1: just like I just I would have done something different.
- 23:27Speaker 1: And so I feel like that kind of summed it
- 23:30Speaker 1: up to me that like everyone on that team was like,
- 23:33Speaker 1: why is Chet not the dude on Wimby?
- 23:36Speaker 3: Oh that's okay. So I didn't see Shae say that,
- 23:40Speaker 3: and I'm not even sure if you what you did
- 23:42Speaker 3: is true to it, But I mean.
- 23:43Speaker 1: That's what I got from it because that's exactly what
- 23:45Speaker 1: he said.
- 23:46Speaker 3: Against It wasn't a Hartenstein thing, no, and I.
- 23:48Speaker 1: Think it was. He was just and I don't know,
- 23:51Speaker 1: but it seemed like him. He was feeling like, why
- 23:54Speaker 1: wasn't our biggest dude on Wimby.
- 23:57Speaker 3: Everybody kept saying that Wemby hates chet like hates chick.
- 24:01Speaker 3: I was just trying to embarrass. Yeah, I felt bad
- 24:03Speaker 3: for him. I was frustrated for him. It's fresh for
- 24:05Speaker 3: my father in law. Then I got mad at check
- 24:07Speaker 3: for my father in law.
- 24:08Speaker 1: Oh no, I know, Yeah, that's not good. But now
- 24:11Speaker 1: your go Spurs go right.
- 24:13Speaker 3: I don't care. It'd be fun to see the Knicks
- 24:16Speaker 3: win because they haven't one in fifty years, and I
- 24:19Speaker 3: have no relationship with the Knicks at all, more so
- 24:23Speaker 3: because I think the Spurs are going to be around
- 24:24Speaker 3: to win a bunch forever.
- 24:26Speaker 1: I hope you're right.
- 24:27Speaker 3: So if the Knicks do win, I think that's probably.
- 24:31Speaker 1: Man.
- 24:32Speaker 3: I just I like the Spurs though, Yeah, I'm just
- 24:34Speaker 3: kind of torn. I like the story of the Knicks.
- 24:36Speaker 3: But there's nothing about the Spurs that makes you not
- 24:38Speaker 3: like them, I know, and they're in a small market.
- 24:40Speaker 3: Well hate them once they start winning. Yeah, we'll get there.
- 24:42Speaker 3: We're America. We want to build somebody out and they
- 24:44Speaker 3: rip them down.
- 24:45Speaker 1: Did you guys hate the Big three Spurs?
- 24:47Speaker 2: No?
- 24:48Speaker 3: Eventually genobly got annoying. Yeah, eventually, Tony Parker, because they
- 24:53Speaker 3: won so much, we paid more attention to them, and
- 24:56Speaker 3: eventually they got annoying.
- 24:57Speaker 1: But Tim Duncan kind of like got out Scott free.
- 24:59Speaker 3: Hu do you not?
- 25:00Speaker 4: How can you have anything bad to say against? Like, hey,
- 25:03Speaker 4: he's cool, love news thing, love him.
- 25:04Speaker 3: Congratulations, Thank you, that's fun for you. Thank you, that's
- 25:07Speaker 3: fun for you.
- 25:08Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 25:08Speaker 3: I don't have any beef with anyone. There's a good
- 25:11Speaker 3: storyline for both. But I think the freaking NBA for
- 25:15Speaker 3: the next couple of years goes through that West being
- 25:18Speaker 3: San Antonio and Oklahoma City, unless when he gets hurt
- 25:20Speaker 3: and that whole team crashes.
- 25:21Speaker 1: Yes, because that would happen. If he got hurt, that
- 25:24Speaker 1: would happen.
- 25:27Speaker 3: I didn't know this first coach. You listened to our podcast? Yeah,
- 25:30Speaker 3: obviously he listens to our No, did he really.
- 25:32Speaker 2: Yeah, whistles?
- 25:33Speaker 1: Guy, Yeah, did you not watch Game seven?
- 25:35Speaker 2: Yeah? I did.
- 25:36Speaker 1: Yeah, they did exactly what I said they should be doing,
- 25:42Speaker 1: so obviously means they're listening to twenty five whistles.
- 25:46Speaker 3: Makes sense?
- 25:47Speaker 1: Hey, guys, why don't we try what this dude said.
- 25:49Speaker 3: I heard Eddie be in the team room.
- 25:51Speaker 1: Hit play play the whole podcast. Hit play up.
- 25:54Speaker 3: There Ed's game plan.
- 25:57Speaker 1: They have to listen to the first ten minutes of.
- 25:59Speaker 3: No Sports to penis.
- 26:05Speaker 1: What you think?
- 26:05Speaker 3: Hey, lightens the mood a little bit, you know, of
- 26:08Speaker 3: another note, and I think you guys will like this,
- 26:12Speaker 3: even though you're not into college softball like I am.
- 26:16Speaker 3: But so Texas Tech, what's Star Wars? What's the big villain?
- 26:22Speaker 3: Not Darth Vader, but was like the Death Star? Yeah,
- 26:24Speaker 3: that's talking.
- 26:25Speaker 1: About That's a planet like of the bad Planet.
- 26:28Speaker 3: Okay, bad planet. Texas Tech softball is the death Star
- 26:30Speaker 3: of It's like the evil place. Now I don't really
- 26:34Speaker 3: feel that way, but to everybody else it is because
- 26:36Speaker 3: Texas Tech has a ton of money. I think they
- 26:38Speaker 3: spent two million dollars on their softball team. They allegedly
- 26:40Speaker 3: are poaching players. They're grabbing all the best players from
- 26:43Speaker 3: all the best teams, saying we'll give you this money
- 26:45Speaker 3: if you get in the portal. It's everything you don't
- 26:46Speaker 3: want to happen, but it does happen. It's not legal
- 26:49Speaker 3: to proach. Oh, it's not no oh, but it is
- 26:51Speaker 3: legal to pay players. But it's not legal to proach.
- 26:54Speaker 1: Oh.
- 26:55Speaker 3: So Texas Tech gets from Florida Jason Williams's daughter white Chocolate.
- 27:02Speaker 2: Oh.
- 27:02Speaker 3: I saw he was everywhere this week. Well, because he's
- 27:04Speaker 3: Texas Tech. He's the dad of Now his daughter plays
- 27:07Speaker 3: on Texas Tech's team. She was awesome at Florida. They,
- 27:12Speaker 3: according to reports, poached her, paid her a bunch of money.
- 27:15Speaker 3: She comes over to Texas Tech. She's awesome. She got
- 27:18Speaker 3: hit five times against Florida in that series, like with
- 27:21Speaker 3: a ball.
- 27:22Speaker 1: She got beaned.
- 27:22Speaker 3: Do we not talk about this?
- 27:24Speaker 1: No?
- 27:24Speaker 3: No, So she came from Florida, went to Texas Tech.
- 27:29Speaker 3: They played a super regional against each other. In the
- 27:31Speaker 3: three games, she had hit five times and then at
- 27:34Speaker 3: the end of the game, massive fight. The coach got
- 27:36Speaker 3: kicked out because then he wouldn't shake hands. The teams
- 27:39Speaker 3: wouldn't shake hands, is crazy, right, So there's there's one.
- 27:42Speaker 3: That's one number two, and this is the one that
- 27:46Speaker 3: was all weekend that made me laugh out loud. Clipped this.
- 27:53Speaker 3: There's a girl at Tennessee. She was at Tennessee who
- 27:56Speaker 3: played third base. She was an All American. She went
- 27:58Speaker 3: to Texas Tech. Texas Tech is the death Star, they're
- 28:02Speaker 3: the villain. Supposedly they poached her and said, give you
- 28:07Speaker 3: all this money, come to Texas Tech. Texas Tech ends
- 28:10Speaker 3: up beating Tennessee in the College World Series. So the
- 28:13Speaker 3: team that she used to play on played the team
- 28:16Speaker 3: that she's on, and after she left, there was all
- 28:19Speaker 3: this drama about herbie and on the team. Her dad
- 28:21Speaker 3: bad mouthed on the coach all so of course it's
- 28:25Speaker 3: gonna be a little chippy once they get there. Tennessee
- 28:28Speaker 3: ends up beating Texas Tech. So the team that she
- 28:31Speaker 3: was on and left just got beat by the team
- 28:34Speaker 3: that she's on. In the handshake line afterward, they're pop up, up,
- 28:39Speaker 3: up up, goot good. They go to the press conference
- 28:41Speaker 3: and she says that the Tennessee coach said to her,
- 28:44Speaker 3: you made a mistake as they're doing handshakes. So everybody's like, ooh, drama.
- 28:52Speaker 3: This player is already a bit problematic. Her dad is
- 28:55Speaker 3: very problematic. So everybody's like, show us the tape, the
- 29:00Speaker 3: tape of the handshake line. Of course they're gonna have it.
- 29:02Speaker 3: They find it. The head coach did not say this
- 29:05Speaker 3: to the girl. She got up there and said that
- 29:07Speaker 3: in the press conference that the head coach said it.
- 29:10Speaker 3: The head coach never said it to the girl. It
- 29:13Speaker 3: did not happen. So they're like forensic evidence every little
- 29:23Speaker 3: mouth movement. The only thing that happened is after they
- 29:26Speaker 3: went to the handshake line and they walked away. The
- 29:29Speaker 3: player looks back and says that if somebody did say
- 29:33Speaker 3: it, it wasn't the head coach. It wasn't in the handshake line.
- 29:35Speaker 3: It wasn't what she had said to make the coach
- 29:37Speaker 3: look terrible. And look, I'm sure both the sides are
- 29:41Speaker 3: a little wrong. Yeah, everybody hates Texas Tech because they're
- 29:45Speaker 3: buying all the players and they're winning. Now, you can
- 29:48Speaker 3: do this, like all the college football teams do it.
- 29:52Speaker 3: But it seems to be pretty obvious that it's some
- 29:54Speaker 3: pretty heavy poaching. And the girl's dad, the handshake girl's dad,
- 30:00Speaker 3: it has been all over social media. At some point
- 30:03Speaker 3: he was talking about, hey, she got seven hundred and
- 30:06Speaker 3: fifty thousand dollars. That's more money than you'll ever make
- 30:08Speaker 3: in your life. To somebody, Oh, why don't you, why
- 30:10Speaker 3: don't you keep on sn ad?
- 30:12Speaker 1: What what her dad is saying this?
- 30:15Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm almost positive it wasn't ai because I found
- 30:17Speaker 3: like three different places that's how you doubled check. So
- 30:22Speaker 3: is wild? Is what I was watching all weekend. That
- 30:25Speaker 3: head coach from Tennessee did not in the handshake line
- 30:28Speaker 3: say that. And she got in the press conference after
- 30:30Speaker 3: and said the head coach said that to her, she's lying. Now,
- 30:32Speaker 3: put that on her dad, because if that's how our
- 30:35Speaker 3: dad is, her dad's raised her to be like that.
- 30:37Speaker 4: Yeah, probably the same dad from the little kid that
- 30:39Speaker 4: threw it up the dugout right or uncle Taylor.
- 30:42Speaker 3: Panell said that Karen Weekley told her you made a
- 30:45Speaker 3: mistake instead of good game in the handshake line after
- 30:47Speaker 3: today's game. Panell also said her decision to transfer from
- 30:49Speaker 3: Tennessee to Texas Tech as old news and she moved
- 30:51Speaker 3: on that's from Jenna mccara o one, it didn't happen.
- 30:55Speaker 3: You're gonna get up to the press conference and lie.
- 30:57Speaker 4: That's crazy, especially nowadays everywhere nsick scot you.
- 31:02Speaker 3: Okay, Texas Tech ended up winning again. They're still in
- 31:04Speaker 3: it now, but they're so we're anti Texas Tech now.
- 31:09Speaker 1: Okay, hey they're the dark side due this week.
- 31:13Speaker 3: Okay, I'm an sure I'm anti Texas text off. Well
- 31:16Speaker 3: I really I'm really not. Yeah, but they're the villain.
- 31:21Speaker 3: We need villains. Sports is so much more fun when
- 31:24Speaker 3: we have villains. And Texas Tech gets to be the
- 31:27Speaker 3: death Star right now because we need a villain here.
- 31:31Speaker 3: And they bought all the players they played UCLA. They
- 31:34Speaker 3: need to buying a picture from them or whatever.
- 31:35Speaker 1: Too, really crazy and it's define poaching to me, Like,
- 31:40Speaker 1: so that's I'm not in the transfer portal.
- 31:42Speaker 3: Okay, okay, I'm running back at Arkansas.
- 31:44Speaker 1: You're happy in Arkansas.
- 31:46Speaker 3: I'm in Arkansas. It's my sophomore year.
- 31:47Speaker 2: I just finished.
- 31:48Speaker 3: I'm gonna stay at Arkansas. Of course, I'm getting nice
- 31:50Speaker 3: in IL. I did not get in the portal. I
- 31:52Speaker 3: get a call from someone going, hey, if you get
- 31:54Speaker 3: in the portal we over here at Alabama, we'll give
- 31:57Speaker 3: you a million and a half bucks. I need even
- 31:58Speaker 3: making four hundred thousand there. Get in the portal, we
- 32:01Speaker 3: will pay you once you get in the portal. You
- 32:04Speaker 3: can't you can't legally have that call. You can't coax
- 32:07Speaker 3: someone to get in the portal and transfer. But it's
- 32:09Speaker 3: happening all over the place all the time, got it.
- 32:13Speaker 3: I wish my school had all the money. I want
- 32:15Speaker 3: to be the death Star.
- 32:15Speaker 1: Yeah right, because that would be cool.
- 32:17Speaker 4: Yeah, they're stirring things up in football still yeah Texas, Yeah,
- 32:21Speaker 4: because they got all the money.
- 32:22Speaker 3: Money.
- 32:23Speaker 1: Was that oil money?
- 32:23Speaker 3: Yeah, it's the one guy mostly. Oh really, I wish
- 32:25Speaker 3: we had that guy. I hate that guy. I wish
- 32:27Speaker 3: we had that guy.
- 32:28Speaker 1: Get that Arkansas.
- 32:29Speaker 3: Yeah, that's what I'm saying. All right, clip that whole
- 32:32Speaker 3: thing right there. Put that in because that'll get some play.
- 32:36Speaker 3: That was a big, big drama story there that. Uh
- 32:40Speaker 3: there was a guy. Did you follow the guyther bet
- 32:41Speaker 3: on DraftKings?
- 32:42Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 32:43Speaker 1: Oh yeah, that was crazy.
- 32:45Speaker 3: So he bet Michigan to win the college basketball the
- 32:48Speaker 3: NCAA Tournament.
- 32:49Speaker 1: They did, got it.
- 32:50Speaker 3: He bet the USA to win the gold medal it's
- 32:52Speaker 3: the Olympics in hockey, they did. He bet the Knicks
- 32:56Speaker 3: to go and win the East did it. And at
- 32:59Speaker 3: the beginning of the series he had the Spurs to
- 33:02Speaker 3: win the West, and so they kept giving him cash
- 33:04Speaker 3: outs of like four hundred thousand, and then when they
- 33:07Speaker 3: went down three to two, it was down to like
- 33:11Speaker 3: three hundred thousand again because he bet twenty five hundred
- 33:14Speaker 3: bucks twenty one point seven million.
- 33:15Speaker 1: Oh my goodness.
- 33:16Speaker 3: Going into game seven, the cash out was over six
- 33:19Speaker 3: hundred thousand dollars. He's like, I'm not hedging. I'm not
- 33:21Speaker 3: cashing out. He had the Spurs. Wow, I'm not hedger.
- 33:26Speaker 3: I'm not cash out. I'd have cashed out. I had
- 33:28Speaker 3: cashed out in Arkansas, would have been the death Star
- 33:30Speaker 3: and we'd have been buying players mid tournament.
- 33:34Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 33:35Speaker 3: Absolutely, man, And he hit from one point seven million
- 33:37Speaker 3: dollars twenty five hundred dollars bet.
- 33:39Speaker 1: That's amazing. Gosh, that could be you, Eddie, that could
- 33:43Speaker 1: be and someday, Man, I've gotten really bad at not
- 33:46Speaker 1: hitting cash outs like I just I should because I
- 33:51Speaker 1: lose the bet. Most of the time. I was like, nah, man,
- 33:53Speaker 1: just wait it out, just wait it out. We can
- 33:54Speaker 1: do this. And then every time I lose the bet,
- 33:56Speaker 1: I'm like, gosh, I should have cashed out.
- 33:58Speaker 3: That's you how it works.
- 34:00Speaker 1: Yeah, I woke up today because Denny Hamlin won the
- 34:03Speaker 1: NASCAR Nashville NASCAR race last night, but it didn't end
- 34:06Speaker 1: till like eleven rain. It was rain delayed. Yeah, it
- 34:09Speaker 1: started late and so I didn't see the end, but
- 34:11Speaker 1: I woke up to some cash.
- 34:13Speaker 2: Was that here in Nashville?
- 34:14Speaker 5: It was?
- 34:14Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 34:15Speaker 3: The final thing I wanted to mention was another Texas
- 34:17Speaker 3: Tech story with football. Oh, so Sarkesian a couple of
- 34:22Speaker 3: weeks ago says, and he doesn't mention them by name,
- 34:25Speaker 3: but there's another team in other conference that if we
- 34:27Speaker 3: played their schedule, we could win their conference with our
- 34:30Speaker 3: twos and threes. He's talking about Texas Tech. So the
- 34:34Speaker 3: guy at Texas Tech with all the money says, hey,
- 34:37Speaker 3: I'll pay for this. So he offered to buy out
- 34:42Speaker 3: and I forget who the schools were that Texas Tech
- 34:44Speaker 3: was playing Week one, and then to buy out Texas'
- 34:48Speaker 3: game as well if Texas would play Texas Tech no way.
- 34:54Speaker 3: He threatened to buy all the games out. He's like,
- 34:57Speaker 3: didn't play?
- 34:57Speaker 1: Is that legal?
- 34:58Speaker 3: Yeah, there's not illegal about that. Sounds so cool. You
- 35:01Speaker 3: would pay the buyouts for both of those schools. Wow,
- 35:04Speaker 3: because they have to pay those teams to play they
- 35:06Speaker 3: He's like, I'll pay them. You don't play the game.
- 35:09Speaker 3: Let's get Texas Tech and Texas to play and let's
- 35:11Speaker 3: see if you back it up.
- 35:12Speaker 1: That's crazy. So is it going to happen?
- 35:15Speaker 6: Nah?
- 35:15Speaker 2: I doubt it.
- 35:16Speaker 3: I want to be the death Star. That'd be so
- 35:17Speaker 3: cool to have money and make people hate you.
- 35:19Speaker 4: They play, Texas plays Texas State week one. Okay, so
- 35:22Speaker 4: he offered to buy that out, and Tech plays Abilene Christian.
- 35:26Speaker 3: And he's like, I'll buy that out too, a couple
- 35:27Speaker 3: million bucks.
- 35:28Speaker 1: If you were Texas State, would you take the money.
- 35:30Speaker 1: It's not about Texas State, I know, but would you
- 35:32Speaker 1: take the money?
- 35:32Speaker 2: Of course you're part of it.
- 35:33Speaker 1: You have to say yes, I'll take the buyout.
- 35:36Speaker 3: No, you take it and you schedule another game, right, Yeah,
- 35:39Speaker 3: you don't schedule a big team, but you're scheduling that.
- 35:41Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 35:42Speaker 3: Yeah. No, if you get bought out, you have no
- 35:43Speaker 3: choice in it, really yeah no, yeah yeah, because there
- 35:46Speaker 3: are teams now buying out teams because the conference, certain
- 35:49Speaker 3: conferences now are playing more game. Yes, he's going to
- 35:51Speaker 3: play nine conference games, and so teams are just getting
- 35:53Speaker 3: bought out. They have no choice, got it. But they're
- 35:55Speaker 3: getting that money, which is the only reason they were
- 35:57Speaker 3: playing a bigger team they were going to lose to anyway.
- 36:01Speaker 3: Got a bunch of notes Texas Tech. In Texas Tech,
- 36:04Speaker 3: I respect it same, It's fun to root against it,
- 36:10Speaker 3: and like, I hope they lose. But I love villains.
- 36:14Speaker 3: I wish I could be the villain sometimes in that
- 36:16Speaker 3: that world just means you're winning and you have you're
- 36:19Speaker 3: just winning. If you just win, you become a villain.
- 36:21Speaker 3: Winby will become a villain at some point.
- 36:23Speaker 1: Yeah, that's it, all.
- 36:25Speaker 3: Right, take a break. Hey, let's welcome in. Dan Woiki,
- 36:30Speaker 3: Lakers reporter for The Athletic and a longtime NBA writer
- 36:33Speaker 3: who has covered the league from Clippers lob City to
- 36:35Speaker 3: Lebron and Luca and also a broader NBA perspective from
- 36:39Speaker 3: the final starting this week in the Western Conference Finals,
- 36:42Speaker 3: Wild Game seven. I just finished reading your article about Chet.
- 36:46Speaker 3: Let's just start there, Like, Dan, what happened with Chet?
- 36:50Speaker 6: So Bobby, I think of this like through more of
- 36:53Speaker 6: a human perspective than a basketball perspective. Imagine that you're
- 36:58Speaker 6: like a one to one, you know, seven foot tall,
- 37:00Speaker 6: kind of unicorn type of player. You're always the biggest
- 37:04Speaker 6: players your size aren't as skilled as you. You shoot
- 37:07Speaker 6: it better, you dribble better than anyone who's as tall
- 37:09Speaker 6: as you. And that's been your whole basketball life, right,
- 37:12Speaker 6: And that's true for Ched Holmgren. He was a top recruit.
- 37:15Speaker 6: He was one of the top players in the country Gonzaga,
- 37:18Speaker 6: and then he gets to the NBA and that's who
- 37:20Speaker 6: he's supposed to be, right, And then all of a sudden,
- 37:25Speaker 6: like the funhouse mirror version of yourself, that's you know,
- 37:28Speaker 6: twenty percent taller. It feels like and more skilled and
- 37:32Speaker 6: better than you is like your new foil, and that
- 37:36Speaker 6: guy is hell bent on destroying you every time you play.
- 37:39Speaker 6: And yeah, I think it had it has a mental
- 37:41Speaker 6: effect on Ched Hulgern. I think all of the advantages
- 37:45Speaker 6: that he normally has he doesn't have against Victor women Yama.
- 37:49Speaker 6: And it doesn't mean Chet is bad. But what is
- 37:52Speaker 6: interesting is that as the thunder kind of move forwards,
- 37:56Speaker 6: like they're gonna have to beat the Spurs, and they're
- 37:58Speaker 6: gonna have to beat Victor Weben Yama. This is something
- 38:00Speaker 6: he's gonna have to get over.
- 38:01Speaker 1: Bobby.
- 38:02Speaker 3: Yeah, to me, Chet's seven foot and I there are
- 38:07Speaker 3: guys seven foot one. However, tall Chet is with ball
- 38:11Speaker 3: skills like he can shoot three, and that would make
- 38:14Speaker 3: all the sense in the world to me. If they
- 38:16Speaker 3: didn't have Chet guarding Wemby, they kept him away from him.
- 38:21Speaker 3: So yeah, and I complete, I just think of that
- 38:24Speaker 3: picture like the seventeen U basketball tournament where like Chet's
- 38:28Speaker 3: holding the met the trophy and Wemby's next to him
- 38:30Speaker 3: and taller, but Chet's got it, Like did Wenby just
- 38:32Speaker 3: did he just have like this vendetta to kill the
- 38:34Speaker 3: guy who beat him in seventeen under basketball?
- 38:37Speaker 6: Wemby does seem remarkably petty in like a fun way, right,
- 38:43Speaker 6: Like I mean, like incredible competitor.
- 38:47Speaker 2: Right.
- 38:47Speaker 6: I was talking to a guy I know on the
- 38:50Speaker 6: San Antonio staff when we were talking about this, and
- 38:53Speaker 6: it's just like one, like, I mean, Chet's not like
- 38:56Speaker 6: Chet is competitive and Chet is tough and like he
- 38:59Speaker 6: will go at guys.
- 39:01Speaker 2: It's like, but like this is like the smoke.
- 39:03Speaker 6: It seemingly he does not want, right and I don't
- 39:07Speaker 6: know if he feels defeated, he feels passed over already,
- 39:12Speaker 6: But like you know, like Victor, it's crazy, Bobby.
- 39:16Speaker 2: They're like these guys right that, like.
- 39:18Speaker 6: You see it in the paint and then like people
- 39:20Speaker 6: just like stop right And it used to be like
- 39:23Speaker 6: that was like a Rudy Gobert thing is like guys
- 39:25Speaker 6: would drive into the paint, you'd see Rudy Gobert and
- 39:28Speaker 6: you would turn around. Like the thing with Victor is
- 39:30Speaker 6: it's like you're looking over your shoulders like everywhere because
- 39:33Speaker 6: it's not just the rim, Like you know, he can
- 39:36Speaker 6: close out on you from ten feet away.
- 39:38Speaker 2: He's so long, he's so agile, Like I don't want
- 39:42Speaker 2: to say.
- 39:43Speaker 6: I mean, yeah, he's like scary to play against, I think,
- 39:46Speaker 6: and like I don't really know.
- 39:49Speaker 2: Like how to attack it quite yet.
- 39:51Speaker 6: Somebody will figure out something, but we're not there right now,
- 39:55Speaker 6: right like right now, like he is the scariest player
- 39:57Speaker 6: in the NBA.
- 39:58Speaker 3: You're onto. Something that is so re rushing about Wemby
- 40:01Speaker 3: is that he cares like it matters to him. And
- 40:04Speaker 3: even after the game, you know, he was so excited.
- 40:07Speaker 3: I mean he was it was it was, it was much,
- 40:10Speaker 3: But I like it that it was much because this
- 40:12Speaker 3: guy could just rest on the fact that he's seven
- 40:14Speaker 3: five seven six, you know, depending on who's measuring him.
- 40:17Speaker 3: And just be like I'm tall and I'm good. But
- 40:19Speaker 3: I feel like it's really cool to see someone with
- 40:20Speaker 3: all that natural ability, natural the physical, all the tools
- 40:25Speaker 3: and still really really want it.
- 40:28Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 40:28Speaker 6: Have you heard sort of like the kind of the
- 40:31Speaker 6: stereotype right about like tall players in the NBA is
- 40:33Speaker 6: that like they don't love basketball that you know the reason,
- 40:38Speaker 6: like at some point when they're ten years old, somebody
- 40:41Speaker 6: finds him on a playground says like, hey, guess what
- 40:43Speaker 6: you're six foot eight, you're going to have And it's
- 40:46Speaker 6: not the exact same thing as it is for like
- 40:48Speaker 6: everyone else. I do think that Wemby what's different about
- 40:53Speaker 6: him is like not only does he love basketball, he
- 40:56Speaker 6: is like committed to being like the best player of
- 40:59Speaker 6: all time. That's the goal, right, It's not anything else.
- 41:02Speaker 6: The goal is to be an all time great. The
- 41:05Speaker 6: goal is to be better than Michael Jordan, to be
- 41:08Speaker 6: better than Kremeabul Jabbar, to be better than Lebron James.
- 41:12Speaker 6: And it's credible.
- 41:14Speaker 1: You know.
- 41:14Speaker 2: I was in the Laker lock ago when they played
- 41:16Speaker 2: Victor Remandhama.
- 41:17Speaker 6: I was talking to a player and I and we
- 41:19Speaker 6: had this like we were like how many MVPs would
- 41:22Speaker 6: he win and it would still be like a disappointment.
- 41:25Speaker 6: And we landed on three that if this guy wins
- 41:27Speaker 6: three MVPs, he's like something has gone wrong in his career.
- 41:33Speaker 6: That's just how good he is, right like, and how
- 41:35Speaker 6: good he can be. It feels like he is going
- 41:37Speaker 6: to win six of them.
- 41:41Speaker 2: I don't know. Now, sometimes we get prisoner of the
- 41:43Speaker 2: moment on.
- 41:43Speaker 6: This type of stuff, but like I mean, Bobby, we've
- 41:46Speaker 6: never seen anybody like this, right, Like, I mean, this
- 41:48Speaker 6: is transformative stuff, like in the same way that you know,
- 41:52Speaker 6: when I'm trying, like I try to think of like
- 41:54Speaker 6: the other guys in other sports, like in my like
- 41:56Speaker 6: time on this planet, who've been like, oh my god,
- 41:59Speaker 6: I don't know what we do with this, like Bo
- 42:02Speaker 6: Jackson like at his peak, Ken Ggraphy Jr. You know,
- 42:07Speaker 6: guys as big and as strong as errand Judge, Like
- 42:10Speaker 6: these guys like don't just like they don't just show up.
- 42:13Speaker 6: It's generational and this is it. I mean Lebron for sure,
- 42:17Speaker 6: this is like a generational player. And we're like we're
- 42:20Speaker 6: in like chapter one of his career right now, which
- 42:23Speaker 6: is the scariest part.
- 42:25Speaker 3: I try not to be prisoner of the moment as well.
- 42:26Speaker 2: And I do feel that.
- 42:29Speaker 3: If Oklahoma City would have had another scorer, if you know,
- 42:34Speaker 3: and and injuries are a part of it. So I'm
- 42:35Speaker 3: not saying like whoa is okay, see, but you had
- 42:40Speaker 3: Jayla Williams out and you had a j out like
- 42:43Speaker 3: they had to go to McCain at the end like
- 42:46Speaker 3: be their guy. And he's fourth or fifth when it
- 42:49Speaker 3: comes to who you want to have the ball, but
- 42:51Speaker 3: he was their shooter. And I think if those if
- 42:53Speaker 3: only one of them can play, I think it's possibly different.
- 42:57Speaker 3: So I don't want to scream that this is the
- 42:59Speaker 3: Spurs world now, but I do think it's the Spurs
- 43:01Speaker 3: and the Thunders world.
- 43:02Speaker 2: Now.
- 43:02Speaker 3: Would you agree with that?
- 43:03Speaker 2: Oh yeah, one hundred percent.
- 43:05Speaker 6: I mean, it feels like these teams are light years
- 43:07Speaker 6: ahead of the rest of the Western Conference and they're
- 43:09Speaker 6: both as sending still like that's the relative And now, look,
- 43:14Speaker 6: I remember when the Denver Nuggs from the NBA title
- 43:16Speaker 6: talking to people around the league and being like, who's
- 43:18Speaker 6: ever going to beat Nicola Jokic, right, and you know
- 43:22Speaker 6: he hasn't won a title since. I mean, it felt like,
- 43:25Speaker 6: oh my god, like you have Jason Tatum and Jalen Brown,
- 43:28Speaker 6: you know, ending the primes of their career at this
- 43:30Speaker 6: time with like the sort of Missoula ball, like who's
- 43:32Speaker 6: going to beat the Boston Celtics. Injuries happen, things happen,
- 43:36Speaker 6: the league changes really quickly. I think what these two
- 43:40Speaker 6: teams are where it's different is that this is like
- 43:43Speaker 6: style and like and skill. You know, you have a
- 43:47Speaker 6: player like I mean, like, let's let's run down some
- 43:49Speaker 6: of the guys. We haven't talked about, right, we haven't
- 43:51Speaker 6: mentioned shake Kill just Alexander, we haven't mentioned Stephan Castle.
- 43:54Speaker 2: We haven't mentioned Dylan Harper.
- 43:57Speaker 6: You know, like these are guys that are I mean,
- 44:01Speaker 6: Shay is unreal and is so good at getting into
- 44:04Speaker 6: his spots so going to manipulate in the game, but
- 44:06Speaker 6: like those Spurs guards are both like I mean, it's
- 44:10Speaker 6: not hard to like close your reson to matge of
- 44:11Speaker 6: both those guys as all Stars in the next three seasons.
- 44:15Speaker 6: Or like Castle to me is like I was talking
- 44:19Speaker 6: to a group of my friends about it. It's like
- 44:21Speaker 6: he's athletic like John Moran, but he's like a dog
- 44:23Speaker 6: kind of like Tony Allen, but he has skill too,
- 44:27Speaker 6: like he's so sudden, like there's some Derek Rose in
- 44:29Speaker 6: his game, Like I mean, like this guy is has
- 44:32Speaker 6: a chance to be like really really special. And then
- 44:36Speaker 6: you watch Dylan Harper play and he's like a twenty
- 44:38Speaker 6: year old who plays like he's thirty five with so
- 44:40Speaker 6: much poison. You know, the Thunder push everybody around Bobby,
- 44:43Speaker 6: like the Spurs push the Thunder around, you know. I
- 44:46Speaker 6: think Jaylen Williams said yesterday at their interviews he was
- 44:49Speaker 6: just kind of like they sort of play like us,
- 44:50Speaker 6: and it's like they do and except they're younger and
- 44:53Speaker 6: stronger and cheaper, right, And so yeah, I think those
- 44:59Speaker 6: I mean, yes, everybody is chasing these two teams. Now
- 45:02Speaker 6: that being said, the Knicks have a chance to win
- 45:04Speaker 6: the finals.
- 45:04Speaker 2: Absolutely.
- 45:06Speaker 3: Let me ask one more question before that about the
- 45:08Speaker 3: Oklahoma City. So they're like, Okay, what's Sam Presti is
- 45:10Speaker 3: gonna do? Like he's got all the picks, he's got
- 45:11Speaker 3: the young what what's what's gonna happen?
- 45:15Speaker 2: Yeah, good question.
- 45:17Speaker 6: I think there has always been like Sam, I'm not
- 45:21Speaker 6: afraid of like, like you know, I think, making big moves,
- 45:26Speaker 6: but they've usually been more like outgoing than incoming, right, Like,
- 45:31Speaker 6: I'm really curious to see, like does he look at
- 45:33Speaker 6: their their team like take let's just say like Giannis
- 45:36Speaker 6: for instance, right, like who I don't think they're particularly
- 45:38Speaker 6: interested in, but like let's just say, like, okay, do
- 45:41Speaker 6: you look at Yannis and Sagakoombo and know that if
- 45:44Speaker 6: we trade for him he will sign somewhere else in
- 45:46Speaker 6: a year. We don't think we can keep them, but
- 45:48Speaker 6: if we can get him, maybe we can win. Does
- 45:51Speaker 6: Sam Presty cash and you know they've got two first
- 45:54Speaker 6: round picks this year, they have young players, They have
- 45:56Speaker 6: picks way out into the future, still drew cash in
- 45:59Speaker 6: for do you chase even mobiley? Do you chase some
- 46:04Speaker 6: other like young player? That's a sending that fits your timeline.
- 46:07Speaker 6: You know, there's been some talk about like do they
- 46:09Speaker 6: move up in the draft and try to get like
- 46:10Speaker 6: Cam Boozer. You know, I'm not so sure. I do
- 46:15Speaker 6: think like you don't want to overreact to what just happened.
- 46:19Speaker 6: To your point, Bobby, like you were missing two really
- 46:21Speaker 6: good players in a very tight series where an adjustment
- 46:25Speaker 6: here and adjustment there. You know, like you win game one,
- 46:29Speaker 6: you win game seven. The only thing that I would
- 46:32Speaker 6: push back on on that was just watching those games.
- 46:35Speaker 6: So I was at three of those games. I think
- 46:37Speaker 6: that it's this isn't analytics, this isn't like high level
- 46:41Speaker 6: X's nose. It just seemed easier for the Spurs than
- 46:44Speaker 6: it did for the Thunder. When the Spurs got the
- 46:46Speaker 6: ball in the basket, it seemed easier, and it seemed
- 46:49Speaker 6: harder for Oklahoma City to score. It seemed harder for
- 46:52Speaker 6: Oklama City to move and get into the stuff that
- 46:54Speaker 6: they wanted to get into.
- 46:56Speaker 2: And when that happens, you know, that.
- 46:59Speaker 6: Doesn't really shift with time, Like I think the Spurs
- 47:02Speaker 6: are only going to get better, which makes all of
- 47:05Speaker 6: this stuff Like again, if you're Sam, like you have
- 47:07Speaker 6: to look at your roster and say, like can we
- 47:09Speaker 6: can we like, can we beat these guys consistently?
- 47:12Speaker 2: You know, is this the best group we have to
- 47:14Speaker 2: fight them? Or do we need do we need like
- 47:18Speaker 2: another big gun?
- 47:19Speaker 6: And it'll be fascinating to see like how they handle
- 47:22Speaker 6: it because it's such a team like being around the
- 47:24Speaker 6: Thunder in these playoffs, Bobby, like like that is such
- 47:27Speaker 6: like a like we put the individ we put the
- 47:29Speaker 6: team ahead of the individual, like high character group of people,
- 47:33Speaker 6: people who like do this stuff with like with teamwork
- 47:36Speaker 6: and selflessness, all the things you want. Right you start
- 47:39Speaker 6: adding stars to that, that gets a little tougher to sell.
- 47:43Speaker 6: But maybe they need to upgrade their talent.
- 47:46Speaker 3: Well, the Earth has already declared the Spurs the NBA champions.
- 47:49Speaker 3: How do the Knicks stop that?
- 47:50Speaker 1: Oh?
- 47:50Speaker 6: I mean I think, like I mean, the Earth has
- 47:54Speaker 6: not been paying attention to the vibes, right, Like I mean,
- 47:57Speaker 6: then the Spurs just came through, you know, and like
- 48:00Speaker 6: the Knicks have just been sitting there watching and waiting,
- 48:02Speaker 6: and you know, I mean, like they've got so much momentum,
- 48:06Speaker 6: the energy and their crowd is gonna be incredible, Like
- 48:08Speaker 6: they have the shot making, they have like sort of
- 48:11Speaker 6: the athletes to compete with the Spurs. You know, I
- 48:16Speaker 6: do think obviously, like you know, can Karl Anthony Towns
- 48:19Speaker 6: and then like get at Victor Wmenyama, Can O g
- 48:21Speaker 6: Annobe guard up and Josh Hart guard up on Victor Wemenyama,
- 48:24Speaker 6: which is a thing teams do.
- 48:26Speaker 2: But I don't know, I mean, I hesitate to make
- 48:29Speaker 2: a pick right now, to be honest, I haven't like
- 48:31Speaker 2: totally thought about it, just drop my kids off at school.
- 48:34Speaker 2: But like I do think that they Yeah, they've got it.
- 48:38Speaker 2: They've got a really good chance.
- 48:39Speaker 6: I mean, if the Spurs have the best player in
- 48:41Speaker 6: the series and Victor Wemanyama, the Knicks might have you know, two, three,
- 48:47Speaker 6: four and Jalen Brunson and og N Andobi and Carl
- 48:50Speaker 6: Towns like that seemed like reasonable to me in some order,
- 48:55Speaker 6: and like you can put together a Syria, you can
- 48:57Speaker 6: win a series that way.
- 48:58Speaker 3: So I have League Pass and I leave it on
- 49:00Speaker 3: in the evenings a lot when I'm preparing for whatever
- 49:02Speaker 3: else I'm going to be doing in the day. Yeah,
- 49:03Speaker 3: I didn't spend a lot of time on the Knicks
- 49:05Speaker 3: and so until later on when I would watch more
- 49:08Speaker 3: of the Knicks. And I've admitted this, so I'm not
- 49:10Speaker 3: a Nick expert. However, the one player that I think
- 49:14Speaker 3: has kind of surprised me at how freaking good he
- 49:17Speaker 3: is is Anonobe. Has this dude always been that good.
- 49:22Speaker 1: He is?
- 49:23Speaker 6: Like when he's been healthy, he's sort of like everything
- 49:26Speaker 6: NBA players want in a role playing teammate, right, Like
- 49:30Speaker 6: he's good enough to shoot more than he does, but
- 49:33Speaker 6: he's cool with if it only happens eleven times a
- 49:36Speaker 6: game or ten times a game. He's a beast like physically,
- 49:40Speaker 6: like incredibly strong, like built like a defensive end, like
- 49:44Speaker 6: a lean defensive end, right and he you know, can
- 49:48Speaker 6: guard anybody like one through five. Incredible, incredible winning basketball player.
- 49:53Speaker 6: He's just had injury stuff, you know, and hasn't been
- 49:57Speaker 6: available consistently consistently. He had some injury stuff earlier this postseason,
- 50:02Speaker 6: but seems to be healthy right now.
- 50:04Speaker 2: I mean, yeah, he's he's like one of those guys
- 50:07Speaker 2: may be that.
- 50:07Speaker 6: Like you could just put him on twenty nine teams
- 50:10Speaker 6: in the NBA other than the next, and he would
- 50:12Speaker 6: look awesome, right, Like, like put him with Lukadancic, it
- 50:16Speaker 6: would look great. Put him with the Kola Jokic, it
- 50:18Speaker 6: would look great. Put him with Steph Curry, it would
- 50:20Speaker 6: look great. It doesn't matter, like you can put him
- 50:22Speaker 6: anywhere like he had. He's like as plug and play
- 50:25Speaker 6: of an NBA player that exists like at a super
- 50:28Speaker 6: high level.
- 50:28Speaker 2: Like will he ever be an All Star?
- 50:30Speaker 6: Probably not, But it's like like the ball knowers know, right,
- 50:34Speaker 6: like the guys know in the league, like this is
- 50:36Speaker 6: a guy you want on your team when you need
- 50:40Speaker 6: to get a stop. He's a guy that can that
- 50:41Speaker 6: can catch and shoot and hit a big shot and
- 50:43Speaker 6: get a bucket. I feed him to do that too,
- 50:45Speaker 6: a high level player, really high level player.
- 50:48Speaker 3: I have two questions left, go Knicks and then Lebron.
- 50:51Speaker 3: But with the Knicks. And this is going to sound
- 50:53Speaker 3: like a kindergartener asking the question, but I love it.
- 50:55Speaker 3: Did Karl Anthony Towns just get a better attitude.
- 51:01Speaker 2: I think sometimes when you are.
- 51:05Speaker 6: Unburdened of the pressures of like having to be like
- 51:09Speaker 6: the number one pick for a team, you know, facing
- 51:12Speaker 6: the franchise stuff, like all of that stuff, it just
- 51:15Speaker 6: frees you up.
- 51:16Speaker 2: And I think he feels more freed up. He can
- 51:18Speaker 2: have more off nights with the Knicks. He can. You know,
- 51:23Speaker 2: it's not his team, it's not his town. It's Jalle
- 51:26Speaker 2: Brunson's team.
- 51:26Speaker 6: It's Jael Brunson's town, right, And Kat is slotted in
- 51:31Speaker 6: as a complimentary piece.
- 51:32Speaker 2: And I say that respectfully.
- 51:33Speaker 6: I mean, he's still obviously like really really good and
- 51:35Speaker 6: is a like a high level talent in the league,
- 51:38Speaker 6: but like he doesn't have those responsibilities, right, Like he
- 51:41Speaker 6: doesn't have to be the one to like save the
- 51:43Speaker 6: franchise and Jallel Brenson seems very comfortable being in that
- 51:47Speaker 6: in that role, and like, look and it's not just Brunson,
- 51:50Speaker 6: Like they have a roster full of players that are
- 51:53Speaker 6: there to like kind of make life easier on you
- 51:55Speaker 6: if it's not your night. And I think, like, you know,
- 51:59Speaker 6: and I don't know Carl well, but like you know,
- 52:02Speaker 6: just being around him a little bit in some series
- 52:03Speaker 6: and stuff like that over time, like it just you know,
- 52:05Speaker 6: it just seems easier that he has more help, you
- 52:08Speaker 6: know what I mean, Like that the situation and the opportunity,
- 52:12Speaker 6: the timing, all that stuff suits his game, suits his personality.
- 52:15Speaker 6: And I think, you know, Mike Brown's done a really
- 52:16Speaker 6: good job too of like kind of unlocking some stuff
- 52:18Speaker 6: with him and not asking to be anyone that he
- 52:21Speaker 6: isn't got to.
- 52:22Speaker 3: Do the Lebron question, and I saw a couple of
- 52:24Speaker 3: things that I would love for you to comment on
- 52:27Speaker 3: that you're the expert. I saw Lebron a clip of
- 52:29Speaker 3: him saying, yeah, he take a little less money to
- 52:31Speaker 3: stay with the Lakers, And then I saw another thing
- 52:33Speaker 3: saying they'd rather have Reeves for forty million a year
- 52:36Speaker 3: for four years versus Lebron at that for one. All
- 52:38Speaker 3: of this so based on where we are right now,
- 52:42Speaker 3: what do you think is going to happen to Lebron?
- 52:44Speaker 6: I mean he needs to first formally decide he like
- 52:47Speaker 6: wants to keep playing basketball, right, which I think he does.
- 52:51Speaker 6: I do think that that is more in question that
- 52:53Speaker 6: people have realized or had been more in.
- 52:55Speaker 2: Question than people realized.
- 52:57Speaker 6: But I think once he decides he wants to play basketball,
- 53:00Speaker 6: now it's about his priorities, right and like can they
- 53:03Speaker 6: be achieved?
- 53:03Speaker 2: Like he wants to win. I think he wants to
- 53:06Speaker 2: be close to Los Angeles. This is where his family is.
- 53:08Speaker 6: Like he's talked very openly about wanting to like be
- 53:12Speaker 6: a volleyball dad for his daughter. And you know, look
- 53:14Speaker 6: like this guy Bobby is in the course of twelve months,
- 53:18Speaker 6: I've never seen anybody get addicted to something quite like
- 53:21Speaker 6: Lebron has gotten addicted to golf. So like, yeah, I
- 53:25Speaker 6: don't know that he would want to go play in
- 53:27Speaker 6: a cold weather market in part because of that, Like
- 53:30Speaker 6: I think he likes he's scheduled into his routine. All
- 53:34Speaker 6: of this is to say, like it makes the most
- 53:36Speaker 6: sense for him to be back with the Lakers. That
- 53:38Speaker 6: that is the most boxes that get checked for everybody involved. Now,
- 53:43Speaker 6: the money can get weird, right, Like you know, Austin
- 53:47Speaker 6: Reeves just turned twenty eight years old. He is a
- 53:49Speaker 6: part of the Lakers long term future, you know, and
- 53:53Speaker 6: they're going to have to pay him. His money is
- 53:56Speaker 6: not directly tied to Lebron's money, like they both can
- 53:59Speaker 6: get paid this summer, but like Lebron's money is more
- 54:02Speaker 6: tied to like how aggressive the Lakers can be in
- 54:05Speaker 6: improving the roster around him, around Luka Dodgics, around Austin Reeves.
- 54:10Speaker 6: And so I think it is on the Lakers if
- 54:12Speaker 6: they expect Lebron to take like a big, big pay
- 54:14Speaker 6: cut or willingness to take a big pay cut, you
- 54:17Speaker 6: got to just be you got to you gotta come
- 54:18Speaker 6: up a plan, and you got to tell.
- 54:19Speaker 2: Him this is why we're doing it, and this is
- 54:21Speaker 2: like what we what it can do for you. I
- 54:24Speaker 2: think they'll get.
- 54:25Speaker 6: There, But I do think, like when we reported this
- 54:28Speaker 6: in the Athletic, like I mean, the priority this summer
- 54:31Speaker 6: is to build around Lukadocch Like that's the priority, right.
- 54:35Speaker 6: That's not a knock on Lebron James. It's just like
- 54:37Speaker 6: this is their first chance to like build out the
- 54:40Speaker 6: Luca roster, and so yeah, you need you need the center,
- 54:44Speaker 6: you need the shooting and the athleticism on the wings
- 54:46Speaker 6: and stuff like that. And like, by the way, you
- 54:48Speaker 6: do need Lebron James too. Like he's really really good.
- 54:50Speaker 6: He was awesome this season and you know, in March
- 54:53Speaker 6: the Lakers were one of the best teams in the
- 54:55Speaker 6: NBA when he like really like slotted into that third
- 54:59Speaker 6: man kind of job with that roster. But like, you know,
- 55:02Speaker 6: you've got a lot of decisions to make, a lot
- 55:04Speaker 6: of stuff to kind of figure out. And I think,
- 55:07Speaker 6: you know, the Lakers are going to have to figure
- 55:09Speaker 6: out if if Lebron, you know, can they sell Lebron
- 55:13Speaker 6: on a version of this where it makes sense for
- 55:14Speaker 6: Lebron to take twenty five million dollars. I'm just making
- 55:16Speaker 6: up that number, But like, can can you pitch that,
- 55:18Speaker 6: you know, and if you can make a good enough pitch,
- 55:22Speaker 6: I think you can get him. But he's Lebron James.
- 55:25Speaker 6: He's got suitors, he's got options. Fascinating because we've just
- 55:29Speaker 6: never seen a guy be like this at forty one,
- 55:33Speaker 6: not in this sport like he's too old. He's told
- 55:37Speaker 6: to fully get all the way behind, but he's way
- 55:38Speaker 6: too good to walk away from. It's it's it's a
- 55:41Speaker 6: fascinating position.
- 55:42Speaker 3: That's what they say about me.
- 55:45Speaker 2: I can relate except mostly easy to walk away from.
- 55:48Speaker 6: Though like I'm I'm I'm too old to get behind,
- 55:51Speaker 6: and I'm also very easy to walk away from.
- 55:54Speaker 3: So great article.
- 55:55Speaker 2: Actually nothing like nothing like Lebron at all.
- 55:58Speaker 3: Actually great article if you got you guys. I'm a
- 56:01Speaker 3: subscriber to The Athletic. But Dan wrote a great article
- 56:03Speaker 3: on chat and and what had happened on Sunday night
- 56:07Speaker 3: and just generally looking forward. And you guys can follow
- 56:09Speaker 3: Dan dan Wikie Sports on Twitter. Hey, thanks Dan, I
- 56:12Speaker 3: really appreciate you, love your work, and hopefully I'll see
- 56:14Speaker 3: you again sometime soon.
- 56:15Speaker 6: Ibby, you know, normally I'm not nice to people who
- 56:18Speaker 6: wear Cubs gear. I'm a white Sox person myself, but
- 56:21Speaker 6: I'll make an exception to start the week.
- 56:22Speaker 2: I don't want to. I don't want to endo this
- 56:24Speaker 2: week with negativity.
- 56:24Speaker 3: I appreciate that.
- 56:25Speaker 2: Dan.
- 56:25Speaker 3: All I have a good day, man, Okay, that's it
- 56:27Speaker 3: for us. Everybody feel good? Mm hmm.
- 56:30Speaker 1: Yeah, who's that picture though? That went to see that picture?
- 56:35Speaker 1: He struck someone out, like who he did?
- 56:37Speaker 2: Suck it?
- 56:38Speaker 1: Yeah, he just dance. He liked sucking dance.
- 56:40Speaker 3: They kick him out.
- 56:42Speaker 1: I don't know what happened. I saw the video, but
- 56:44Speaker 1: I saw the manager come out and be like, that's
- 56:47Speaker 1: it's just unacceptable.
- 56:48Speaker 3: See the Georgia player get kicked out of for the
- 56:49Speaker 3: home run?
- 56:50Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 56:50Speaker 2: What did he do? That? One?
- 56:51Speaker 3: Film out? Immediately home run? He looked at the dugout, dance,
- 56:55Speaker 3: came all the way and they let them. But you know,
- 56:58Speaker 3: it's it's a bit performative college sports. Hit throw him out?
- 57:01Speaker 1: Really?
- 57:01Speaker 3: I think he was like still rounding second base. Yeah yeah,
- 57:06Speaker 3: he dude, he was doing all kinds of stuff. You know,
- 57:10Speaker 3: we don't talk a lot of college baseball. But UCLA
- 57:13Speaker 3: was the overall number one seed, so they were number
- 57:16Speaker 3: one and the over they lost in the regional. It's
- 57:19Speaker 3: like NCAA tournament, Virginia losing is the one to a sixteen.
- 57:23Speaker 3: It's literally what that was never happened before. Wow, So
- 57:27Speaker 3: all right, that's it? Music? Ah, yes, I can just
- 57:30Speaker 3: see music in a place.
- 57:32Speaker 1: How mad it? Flex Man?
- 57:35Speaker 3: Thank you everybody if you do listen and you're like, hey,
- 57:38Speaker 3: I don't even listen to sports and I listened to this.
