- 0:00Speaker 1: Time now for back to the basics and health care
- 0:02Speaker 1: with Balance Life Chiropractic. We're here with doctor Harley. Hello,
- 0:04Speaker 1: Doctor Harley.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Hey, how you doing, John.
- 0:06Speaker 1: I'm good. We've got Father's Day coming up this weekend,
- 0:09Speaker 1: and I know fathers sometimes we're a pain in the butt,
- 0:12Speaker 1: but we're going to talk about pain in the back,
- 0:13Speaker 1: aren't we. Right.
- 0:14Speaker 2: Yeah, this month we've kind of been talking about more
- 0:17Speaker 2: men's health related things because it is you know, Father's Day,
- 0:21Speaker 2: it's men's health Awareness months.
- 0:23Speaker 1: So this is a time again where people are always
- 0:27Speaker 1: thinking what can I do for dad? What can we
- 0:29Speaker 1: do for dad? Well, here's one of the things that
- 0:31Speaker 1: dad should do for himself. He should take care of
- 0:33Speaker 1: his health. And a lot of the time we talked
- 0:34Speaker 1: about this last week, guys are kind of stubborn. We
- 0:36Speaker 1: don't always think of that doing right.
- 0:38Speaker 2: So, I mean, what you could give your father for
- 0:40Speaker 2: a Father's Day is an appointment to a chiropractor. Yeah, gifting, Like,
- 0:44Speaker 2: Hey Dad, I got you a new patient appointment at
- 0:45Speaker 2: Bounce Life Chiropractic.
- 0:47Speaker 1: There you go, and the cool thing at Bounce Life Chiropractic.
- 0:49Speaker 1: There's a nice restaurant next door, so you come here.
- 0:51Speaker 1: Do that and then go to lunch or go to dinner,
- 0:53Speaker 1: so you can like sneak this in with something good
- 0:55Speaker 1: and everybody's happy. Right You.
- 0:57Speaker 2: You love your dad so much that you want him
- 0:59Speaker 2: to be happier and healthier, and maybe this is the
- 1:03Speaker 2: time to start, you know, push them a little bit. Hey,
- 1:04Speaker 2: you're not getting any younger, dad.
- 1:07Speaker 1: Yeah. And the back pain is kind of a common
- 1:10Speaker 1: thing that you see a lot, don't you.
- 1:11Speaker 2: Right, Ye, back pain tends to be more what a
- 1:14Speaker 2: lot of men you know, complain about being a big problem.
- 1:17Speaker 2: Women it tends to be more neck pain. You know.
- 1:19Speaker 2: Obviously they can have both, but it does seem statistically
- 1:22Speaker 2: that men tend to have more of the low back.
- 1:24Speaker 2: I've heard read things somewhere that it was like men
- 1:27Speaker 2: tend to carry their stress in their low back, where
- 1:29Speaker 2: women tend to carry it in their neck. So that's
- 1:31Speaker 2: where we kind of see the differentiation there.
- 1:33Speaker 1: Yeah, so that makes sense.
- 1:35Speaker 2: Right, if you're walking around or you've been doing yard
- 1:37Speaker 2: work and you're really starting to get like an a
- 1:39Speaker 2: key back, or your hips are starting to hurt, you're like,
- 1:42Speaker 2: I didn't really do anything. Well, think of all the
- 1:44Speaker 2: other things you've done in your life, you know, from teenage,
- 1:47Speaker 2: yeers ten, your young younger years, in your twenties and thirties,
- 1:50Speaker 2: and you know you're starting to hit forty and fifty.
- 1:53Speaker 2: Every decade it seems like the problems start kind of
- 1:55Speaker 2: getting worse and worse.
- 1:57Speaker 1: And we were the generation, at least my generation, where
- 1:59Speaker 1: we're all he's doing dumb things. I saw a video
- 2:01Speaker 1: somebody is like an old school, like eight milimeters video
- 2:04Speaker 1: of kids that were my age back then. But now
- 2:07Speaker 1: we're all in our fifties ramping their bicycles and landing
- 2:10Speaker 1: really hard, and they're like, and we wonder why we
- 2:12Speaker 1: have lower back pain, right, you know, we.
- 2:14Speaker 2: Don't think about the things that we were doing when
- 2:16Speaker 2: were younger, how it's going to start affecting us as
- 2:18Speaker 2: we get older. And then we get older like that's fine,
- 2:20Speaker 2: I'll deal with And then we kind of talked about
- 2:22Speaker 2: that last week. Yeah, you know, men especially tend to
- 2:24Speaker 2: ignore their problems.
- 2:25Speaker 1: No, we do.
- 2:28Speaker 2: But back pain is something that it's treatable. It is
- 2:31Speaker 2: the number one cause of disability in our country. It's
- 2:35Speaker 2: the number one cause of oprah prescription of pain killers
- 2:38Speaker 2: in our country. Because you know, what do you usually
- 2:41Speaker 2: do when you first have pain, we take some sort
- 2:43Speaker 2: of over the counter medication and if that doesn't work,
- 2:45Speaker 2: and we go talk for a doctor about it and
- 2:47Speaker 2: they might prescribe you with an opioid or something like
- 2:50Speaker 2: that to help kill the pain. But chiropractic is a
- 2:52Speaker 2: really great way of treating the problem at this source. Yeah,
- 2:55Speaker 2: a lot of times that's happening is either hips are
- 2:57Speaker 2: out of alignment and are locked up and that's putting
- 2:59Speaker 2: more preuss and work into your low back, or it's
- 3:02Speaker 2: at your low back you know, your spine's out of
- 3:04Speaker 2: alignment and there you know, simple adjustments like that can
- 3:07Speaker 2: help really alleviate a lot of that back pain and
- 3:09Speaker 2: keep you from having more problems in the future.
- 3:11Speaker 1: And it's a natural solution rather than getting drugged up.
- 3:14Speaker 1: And the cool thing is you're fixing the problem instead
- 3:17Speaker 1: of just you know, masking the problem with oh hey,
- 3:19Speaker 1: I don't feel it anymore.
- 3:20Speaker 2: Right, And unfortunately the problems you have now, if you
- 3:22Speaker 2: just keep going down kind of the medication route, it's
- 3:25Speaker 2: not fixing the issue. It's just going to keep getting
- 3:27Speaker 2: worse over time.
- 3:28Speaker 1: If somebody listening is going, okay, I think it's time
- 3:30Speaker 1: for me to make an appointment and get all this
- 3:32Speaker 1: stuff taken care of. How do they reach out to you, It's.
