- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn Norwegian with Fexingo. I am Lucas. Luna: And I am Luna. It is so good to be here again. Lucas: We have been talking a lot about movement lately. Climbing, swimming, walking. Luna: Right. But today we are doing something more... practical. Lucas: Exactly. We are going to talk about fetching and carrying. Two very common tasks. Luna: I love practical. Let us start with the first one. Lucas: The verb is å hente. It means to fetch, or to pick up. Luna: Å hente. Okay. How do I say 'I fetch something'? Lucas: You say: jeg henter noe. Luna: Jeg henter noe. Lucas: Perfect. Notice the present tense ending. Jeg henter. You henter. Vi henter. Luna: It feels like a regular verb. That is easy. Lucas: It is. So if I want to say 'I fetch something', I say: jeg henter noe. Luna: Jeg henter noe. Got it. Lucas: Now, imagine you are at the train station. You need help. Luna: Yes. What would I ask? Lucas: You could ask: kan du hente meg? Luna: Kan du hente meg? Lucas: Can you pick me up? Or can you fetch me? It works both ways. Luna: Kan du hente meg. That sounds very polite. Lucas: It is. And what about the mail? The post? Luna: Ah, right. Like in the morning? Lucas: Yes. To get the mail, you say: å hente posten. Luna: Å hente posten. Lucas: To fetch the mail. Very routine activity. Luna: Å hente posten. I can visualize that now. Lucas: Let us repeat those three together. Jeg henter noe. Kan du hente meg? Å hente posten. Luna: Jeg henter noe. Kan du hente meg? Å hente posten. Lucas: Excellent. Now, the second verb. Å bære. Luna: Å bære. Does that mean to carry? Lucas: Yes. To carry something physically. Luna: Okay. How do I say 'I carry the suitcase'? Lucas: You say: jeg bærer kofferten. Luna: Jeg bærer kofferten. Lucas: Good. Notice the double R. Bærer. It has a soft sound. Luna: Jeg bærer kofferten. Like holding it while walking. Lucas: Exactly. And if the item is fragile? Luna: Oh, I should be careful. Lucas: Yes. You say: bær det forsiktig. Luna: Bær det forsiktig. Lucas: Carry it carefully. Forsiktig means carefully. Luna: Bær det forsiktig. Understood. Lucas: What if it is heavy? Luna: That must be hard. Lucas: You say: det er tungt å bære. Luna: Det er tungt å bære. Lucas: It is heavy to carry. Tungt means heavy. Luna: Det er tungt å bære. Oh my gosh, that sounds exhausting. Lucas: It does. But we can use all these phrases together. Luna: Let me try. Jeg bærer kofferten. Det er tungt å bære. Lucas: Very good. And then I might say: bær det forsiktig. Luna: Bær det forsiktig. Okay. Lucas: Let us review the full set. Jeg henter noe. Kan du hente meg? Å hente posten. Luna: Jeg henter noe. Kan du hente meg? Å hente posten. Lucas: And the carrying phrases. Jeg bærer kofferten. Bær det forsiktig. Det er tungt å bære. Luna: Jeg bærer kofferten. Bær det forsiktig. Det er tungt å bære. Lucas: These are so useful for daily life. Fetching, carrying. Luna: Yes. I feel ready to go on an errand. Lucas: Before we go, I want to mention something about Fexingo. Luna: Oh yes. The show. Lucas: If Fexingo has been helping you make actual progress with this language, there is a way to support it directly. Luna: Yeah. It keeps the episodes coming without ads. Lucas: Exactly. You can find us at buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo — that's F. E. X. I. N. G. O. Luna: Just a small gesture helps a lot. Thank you. Lucas: Back to our verbs. Imagine you are at home. Luna: Yes? Lucas: Your friend arrives with boxes. You say: kan du hente meg? Luna: Kan du hente meg? Wait, no. I am asking them. Lucas: Right. You ask: kan du hente meg? Then you see the weight. Luna: Oh wow. Det er tungt å bære. Lucas: So you warn them: bær det forsiktig. Luna: Bær det forsiktig. Okay, I got it. Lucas: And later, you tell them: jeg henter noe for you. Luna: Jeg henter noe. Helping out. Lucas: Exactly. Practice these until we chat again. Luna: See you next time!
