- Brandon Dirmann: Well, welcome once again to another episode of the Daily Word Podcast. I certainly hope that wherever you are listening to this from today, that you are doing well. In case it's your first time joining us, or maybe you just need a reminder of why we do this, the whole point of our Daily Word Podcast is to every single day, number one, bring an encouragement to you from God's word. We believe the Bible is the actual living, breathing words of God. given to us to not only know God, to know His ways and His will and His character, but also to gain daily instruction in how we live. know, salvation is not just believing in the existence of Jesus, but salvation is the surrendering of our lives to Jesus as the Lord, as the boss, as the ruler, as the commander. And therefore we follow Him. Therefore we listen to Him. Therefore we live life the way he's asking us to live, we're led by him. And one of the best ways that we can be led by him is allowing the Holy Spirit to every day through the Word of God instruct our life in how to live, how to prioritize. And so our primary goal is to bring an encouragement to you, but also to remind you that God wants to speak to you in an individual, in a personal way. And so today, if you can, spend time with God for yourself, get a Bible, get a journal. On the Daily Word podcast, we're using the Life Journal. It is the resource that we use as a church to be able to read through the Bible together. And on the Daily Word podcast, at least for right now, we're sticking to the New Testament portion of that reading. So with that being said, today is May the 11th. Can't believe we're already almost at the midway point of May. Can't believe we're five months into 2026. And today's New Testament reading. from our life journal, May the 11th, it is Matthew chapter 28. And I do wanna speak this morning to, or I guess this afternoon, this evening, whenever you listen to this, I wanna speak to what I said a moment ago, this reality that we've surrendered our life to Jesus as the Lord, and therefore we are living life following, living in His Lordship. And that being said, I wanna read to you, A very familiar passage probably for many of us, but the verse that I ⁓ selected today, the verse that stuck out to me, verses rather, are Matthew chapter 28 verses 18 through 20. Now, this is Jesus speaking to his disciples. However, let's translate because the Bible is speaking today and we are his disciples. It is Jesus speaking to us. And here's what Jesus says. Matthew chapter 18, I'm sorry, chapter 28 verse 18. Jesus came and spoke to them saying so Jesus is speaking all Authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth pause That's why he is the Lord The Bible says that God has given him the name that is above every name that he is seated at the right hand of God and all Authority has been given to him and therefore he is the Lord as you've probably heard me say before playfully He's the boss, applesauce, not us. And so we are surrendered to follow Him. Here's what He says, all authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you and lo. I'm with you always, even to the end of the age. Here's what Jesus says, he says, guys, the priority in which I'm asking you, I'm calling you to live with is this, you go and you leverage your life for souls saved and disciples made. You leverage your life, go therefore and make, not just believers, interesting, I think I believe in Jesus' reality, no, no, no. Go therefore and make disciples. Go therefore and proclaim and preach the good news and call people to repentance and the surrendering of their lives to me as the Lord. Make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. And don't just have them pray the prayer. He says, but you teach them, walk with them. teaching them to observe all things that I've commanded you and remember, I'm with you always to the end of the age. Let me give you just three thoughts for an application today that I'm writing down in my journal. hope you're writing down in yours. Number one is this, ⁓ that our life is to be lived on a singular mission. It just is. Everything that we do, how we parent our children, come on somebody, how we approach the job that we're working, how we interact with our neighbors, how we have friendships and relationships. Our entire existence is lived centrally focused on one primary mission and that is seeing souls saved and disciples made. There is nothing else more important on the earth than that. One day, every single thing that is today that we are Maybe enjoying or pursuing Tangibly it'll be burned up at the end of the age. That's why in Matthew chapter 6 Jesus goes guys Don't store up for yourselves treasures on earth, but store up for yourselves treasures in heaven Earth is temporary, but the eternal things are that they are everlasting and therefore our life. It's supposed to be lived Leverage to say God how can I be used to? Advance your kingdom. How can I be used to see people get saved and people get discipled and people get raised up in the ways of God. Number two, my secondary application is that you should be walking with at least one person, teaching them and helping them to follow Jesus more fully. He says, guys, don't just get people saved, don't just get people to church, teach them. Well, Pastor Brad, I don't know a whole lot. I promise you, you know more, you know more than somebody. And all of us are called to be walking with people and helping them, helping them, walking with them, guiding them, intentionally spending time for the purpose of helping them to know God more and be in relationship with him and walk in his ways. so we should be helping at least someone. And this might be my third application. My third observation is before you feel like you're disqualified or you can't do it, God promises to always be with us. Jesus says, lo, I will be with you always to the end of the age. And so in our pursuit of this singular mission and in our walking with at least someone helping them to know and grow in God, we have to remember it's not us, but it's God working through us, that God is with us. He's empowering us. He's enabling us. He's going to strengthen us. He's going to lead us. He's going to guide us. He is going to help us. And so my application and really my response for us today is let's be about the mission of God. Come on, making money is awesome. And having a great career is incredible and playing sports and doing hobbies. And I really believe, and this is a different podcast for a different day, but I really believe that life was meant to be enjoyed. That there is an element to our existence that God wants us to enjoy and love life. and feel and experience the beauty of His creation and all that He has given to us. And yet it's secondary, it's secondary to His mission and the eternal purpose of God reconciling people to Himself. And so come on, just want to encourage you today. Let's be about the mission of God. Make the mission of God, seeing people getting saved and people growing in God your primary focus. Consider today, who you're walking with and start walking with at least one person and encourage and remind yourself that God is with you and he will continue to be with you through all of it. Hope this is encouraging to you today and want to just remind you again, God's called you. There's a purpose and a plan on your life and so let's be about it. That being said, let's pray together and ⁓ ask God that he would seal this in our heart and help us to bring it to application. Lord Jesus, we thank you for the Bible. Thank you for speaking to us every day in real and relevant ways to teach us and train us and encourage us, even correct us sometimes. And Lord, today we're praying that this word that we just received, that God, you'd help us to apply it to our life, seal it in our heart, give us practical ways to apply it today, lead and guide us and empower us to live it out. In Jesus' name, amen. Hey, once again, thank you so much for being a part and for tuning in today to the Daily Word Podcast. We'll see you tomorrow for another episode. of the Daily Word podcast.
