- 0:00Speaker 1: What's better than two hours of Mark Simone? Three! The
- 0:04Speaker 1: Mark Simone Show. Now nine till noon weekdays. 710WOR. Hey,
- 0:10Speaker 1: it's hour number two. That's right, two. We start at
- 0:17Speaker 1: nine o'clock every morning now. A lot to get to.
- 0:20Speaker 1: A lot of debates last night. We'll get to that.
- 0:21Speaker 1: We'll get to the Yankees. We'll get to the crazy
- 0:26Speaker 1: Brad Lander. And more coming up. Hey, you know, there's
- 0:29Speaker 1: a new thing that, uh, is starting to be used.
- 0:32Speaker 1: You know, they have, uh, uh, well, first, first it
- 0:35Speaker 1: was radar guns. You know, when this cop hiding in
- 0:38Speaker 1: the bushes can measure your speed limit, he knows if
- 0:41Speaker 1: you're speeding. And that was years ago. And then along
- 0:44Speaker 1: came the red light cameras. If you go through the
- 0:47Speaker 1: red light, the camera will, uh, record that and take
- 0:50Speaker 1: a picture of your car going through it. Uh, Then
- 0:54Speaker 1: the next thing was those speed cameras. It doesn't even
- 0:57Speaker 1: have to be a cop there. If you're speeding, it
- 1:01Speaker 1: will see that you're speeding, take a picture of your
- 1:04Speaker 1: car speeding. You'll get mailed a ticket. So now the
- 1:06Speaker 1: new thing that is being rolled out, stop sign cameras.
- 1:13Speaker 1: This is the most annoying one ever. The camera's in
- 1:17Speaker 1: the stop sign. It will see if you came to
- 1:20Speaker 1: a complete stop. It will know exactly how you have
- 1:25Speaker 1: to complete stop. It'll see exactly how long you stop.
- 1:30Speaker 1: So you can't do one of those rolling stops where
- 1:33Speaker 1: you kind of slow down. What do they call that?
- 1:37Speaker 1: You know, a rolling stop. You can't do that because
- 1:41Speaker 1: you'll never actually stop. So you'll get a ticket. Now,
- 1:45Speaker 1: this is a little controversial. The village, beautiful town of
- 1:50Speaker 1: Upper Brookville, that's in Long Island. It's the North Shore.
- 1:54Speaker 1: Upper Brookville, they had a town debate over whether to
- 1:57Speaker 1: install these. Now, Upper Brookville, it's a beautiful place. But
- 2:03Speaker 1: you only got like four cars. Since when do you
- 2:06Speaker 1: have such a problem with stop signs? There's three cars
- 2:09Speaker 1: driving around. Don't worry about it. So watch for that.
- 2:13Speaker 1: So the problem is this digital stuff. You know, in baseball,
- 2:17Speaker 1: balls and strikes, sometimes the umpire is wrong. Now... They
- 2:21Speaker 1: got like a digital thing that'll tell you exactly where
- 2:24Speaker 1: the ball, exactly. It's kind of annoying. I mean, it's
- 2:29Speaker 1: good for balls and strikes, but stop sign cameras? This
- 2:33Speaker 1: is getting ridiculous. A lot of debates last night. There
- 2:36Speaker 1: was a big Texas debate. You got Ken Paxton, Tallarico.
- 2:43Speaker 1: Ken Paxton, the Republican candidate. Oh, he's got his problems.
- 2:46Speaker 1: But this Tallarico is a raging nut job. But He's
- 2:51Speaker 1: doing better than he should be. And one reason is
- 2:54Speaker 1: the whole Bush world, Bush family, Karl Rove, all these
- 2:58Speaker 1: people came out against Paxton. They're back in Tallarica. Why?
- 3:02Speaker 1: I don't know. Listen, the Bush people hate Trump. Hate Trump. Listen,
- 3:09Speaker 1: I can understand it. It was the Clinton dynasty. It
- 3:12Speaker 1: was the Bush dynasty. It was Bush Sr. Then Bush Jr.
- 3:16Speaker 1: was president. Jeb Bush was next in line. The Bush dynasty.
- 3:21Speaker 1: And Trump wiped it out. He stopped the whole Bush
- 3:24Speaker 1: dynasty dead in its tracks, finished them off, and they're done.
- 3:28Speaker 1: So you can't blame them for killing the family business.
- 3:32Speaker 1: You can't blame them for hating Donald Trump. But they
- 3:36Speaker 1: don't have to go crazy supporting the nutjob Tallarico, the Democrat.
- 3:41Speaker 1: Last night's debate, here's Paxton.
- 3:43Speaker 2: Do you want to debate him?
- 3:45Speaker 3: Do you have the desire to or not?
- 3:48Speaker 4: Look, if the terms were right, I'd have no problem.
- 3:51Speaker 3: What are your terms?
- 3:52Speaker 1: So in terms of debating, I.
- 3:54Speaker 4: Don't want to end up with a CNN reporter covering
- 3:57Speaker 4: the debate. So, you know, I don't know what all
- 4:00Speaker 4: the terms are, but I do know I don't want
- 4:02Speaker 4: a CNN reporter covering our debate, which initially was talked about.
- 4:07Speaker 1: That's not a bad point. That's not a bad point.
- 4:09Speaker 1: I want a legitimate debate with a real neutral moderator.
- 4:12Speaker 1: That's a legitimate point. Unlike Kathy Hochul said, I'll only
- 4:15Speaker 1: debate on New York One, which is the most left-wing
- 4:18Speaker 1: slanted thing in the world, and it's only got 12 viewers.
- 4:22Speaker 1: I mean, that was kind of crazy. Tallarico? Hey, Ken,
- 4:25Speaker 1: it's James.
- 4:26Speaker 3: I'm calling to invite you to a debate on Fox News.
- 4:30Speaker 3: Texans start voting in less than a month, and they
- 4:33Speaker 3: deserve to hear from both of us before they do.
- 4:36Speaker 3: I've accepted four local TV debates, but we haven't heard
- 4:39Speaker 3: from you, and we're running out of time. So if
- 4:42Speaker 3: Fox News is where you'll be most comfortable, I'll be there.
- 4:47Speaker 1: It's a pretty good move on the part of Tallarico. Hey,
- 4:50Speaker 1: in Fox News, I know left-wingers claim it's slanted, biased.
- 4:55Speaker 1: It's certainly a conservative network, but they've been pretty down
- 4:59Speaker 1: the middle the last couple of years. They've been critical
- 5:03Speaker 1: of Trump. If you watch that Katie Zaccaria, when she
- 5:07Speaker 1: went on Hannity, boy, he hit her with the tough questions.
- 5:09Speaker 1: There were no softballs there. And again, Fox News can
- 5:13Speaker 1: be very, very critical of Trump when they don't like
- 5:15Speaker 1: something he does. So they've been pretty good at calling
- 5:19Speaker 1: balls and strikes. Unlike MSNOW, unlike CNN. Speaking of baseball,
- 5:27Speaker 1: Hal Steinbrenner, listen, nice guy. He's not George Steinbrenner. In fact,
- 5:34Speaker 1: Curtis said he wants a DNA test to see if
- 5:36Speaker 1: this kid is actually related to Steinbrenner, but... They re-signed
- 5:40Speaker 1: Brian Cashman to a whole new contract. You've got to
- 5:44Speaker 1: give Brian Cashman credit. This guy is a genius at
- 5:49Speaker 1: hanging on to his job. He's a very nice guy,
- 5:52Speaker 1: but they lose. <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL>
- 5:57Speaker 1: And he gets a new contract. I don't know what
- 5:59Speaker 1: the hell this guy has been doing, but he's obviously
- 6:01Speaker 1: good at it. This will be his 30th year on
- 6:04Speaker 1: the job. And pretty good. Aaron Boone will be back. uh,
- 6:11Speaker 1: for his 10th season, give him credit. He hasn't won
- 6:14Speaker 1: in 10 years. He got, he's coming back. Uh, Hal
- 6:17Speaker 1: Steinbrenner defended both of them. Now this is strange. He said,
- 6:21Speaker 1: the bottom line is the players didn't live up, uh,
- 6:25Speaker 1: to their end of the bargain in the playoffs, the offense,
- 6:29Speaker 1: not the pitching, but the offense had a big part.
- 6:32Speaker 1: Why didn't we get to where we strive to get
- 6:34Speaker 1: every year? So he's blaming the players. Um, Well, George
- 6:40Speaker 1: would do that, but you'd do it privately. Say it publicly. Oh,
- 6:45Speaker 1: here's Hal Steinbrenner. It was a Zoom call.
- 6:49Speaker 2: Yes, we failed at the goal this year, but that
- 6:52Speaker 2: is always our goal, which is why we put so
- 6:54Speaker 2: much effort and resources into the roster every offseason to
- 6:59Speaker 2: field a team that can accomplish that. I thought Boone
- 7:02Speaker 2: managed a good season. The bottom line is the players
- 7:05Speaker 2: didn't live up to their end of the bargain in
- 7:08Speaker 2: the playoffs.
- 7:10Speaker 1: I don't know i don't know that's uh i have.
- 7:12Speaker 2: Never suggested that a season like this season is a
- 7:15Speaker 2: success uh i am often asked was the entire season
- 7:19Speaker 2: a failure winning 93 games is not a failure i
- 7:23Speaker 2: mean making playing in the division series is not a
- 7:26Speaker 2: failure it became a failure because we did not do.
- 7:29Speaker 1: Well he's got a point there you know you got
- 7:33Speaker 1: to be a hell of a good team if uh
- 7:36Speaker 1: You know, not winning the World Series is considered a
- 7:38Speaker 1: bad year. I mean, the fact that he got to
- 7:40Speaker 1: the wild card, pretty good. For any other team, that'd
- 7:43Speaker 1: be very, very impressive. So give him a little credit.
- 7:49Speaker 1: Governor's race. Hey, Bruce Blakeman got a big endorsement. The
- 7:52Speaker 1: New York State Court Officers Union. It's a big deal
- 7:55Speaker 1: because they never endorse. They never endorse. You know, the
- 7:59Speaker 1: police unions, most of the unions, they do an endorsement
- 8:02Speaker 1: every time. But this is unusual, highly unusual. A candidate
- 8:05Speaker 1: has to really be special for these guys to do this.
- 8:08Speaker 1: The New York State court officers now backing Bruce Blakeman,
- 8:12Speaker 1: and they said it's about public safety. Now, what would
- 8:16Speaker 1: make them all of a sudden come out and do
- 8:17Speaker 1: an endorsement? They don't ever do that. Well, remember, they're
- 8:21Speaker 1: court officers. They're in the courtroom every day watching criminals
- 8:26Speaker 1: get released because of horrible, horrible DAs like Alvin Bragg.
- 8:32Speaker 1: you know, these left-wing kook DAs that won't put anybody
- 8:34Speaker 1: in jail. You could be a criminal who's been got
- 8:36Speaker 1: a rap sheet a mile long. You just committed a
- 8:38Speaker 1: horrible crime and they'll let you go. They won't, you know, DA, judge,
- 8:43Speaker 1: won't put you in jail. So these court officers must
- 8:46Speaker 1: be frustrated and furious watching this every day with their
- 8:49Speaker 1: own eyes. So they're backing Blakeman. First time they've endorsed
- 8:53Speaker 1: a candidate in forever. You ever get on a plane
- 8:57Speaker 1: and the person in the next seat or A couple
- 9:00Speaker 1: of seats away is a problem. They're making noise or
- 9:04Speaker 1: they're playing music or they're kicking your seat. You ever
- 9:07Speaker 1: have a problem with somebody next to you or they
- 9:10Speaker 1: won't shut up? This might be the worst person you
- 9:14Speaker 1: could sit next to. So the woman wants to fly
- 9:17Speaker 1: first class. She pays for a first class ticket because
- 9:20Speaker 1: she wants a big seat. She wants to recline it back,
- 9:24Speaker 1: sleep during the trip. She's got a seat, window seat,
- 9:27Speaker 1: first class. And the guy next to her After they
- 9:32Speaker 1: take off, he takes out his laptop and he's watching
- 9:37Speaker 1: pornography and then starts masturbating on the plane. Apparently, he
- 9:49Speaker 1: did have a blanket. Give him credit. He used a blanket,
- 9:52Speaker 1: but his hand was under the blanket making this jerking motion. Uh,
- 9:58Speaker 1: she was horrified. She notified a flight attendant who, uh,
- 10:04Speaker 1: didn't seem to worry about it. She didn't say, are
- 10:06Speaker 1: you okay? Uh, she kept texting her friends about this
- 10:12Speaker 1: while she was on the plane. Finally, the flight crew
- 10:14Speaker 1: agreed to move her and switched her with another passenger. Uh,
- 10:20Speaker 1: But the woman said they didn't do anything to the man. Now,
- 10:23Speaker 1: I don't know, was this Jeffrey Toobin? I don't know,
- 10:25Speaker 1: but I wouldn't think they... When you think on the
- 10:28Speaker 1: airline there's a rule against masturbating on the plane, the
- 10:32Speaker 1: flight crew did move her. They didn't do anything to
- 10:35Speaker 1: the other man. She said, in fact, when the plane
- 10:38Speaker 1: landed and he got off, there was nobody there to
- 10:40Speaker 1: detain him, no police, no anything. The airline didn't notify anybody.
- 10:46Speaker 4: Uh....
- 10:49Speaker 1: She didn't do anything with any police, but they didn't either,
- 10:54Speaker 1: the airline. So reporters contacted United Airlines. Now, apparently airlines
- 11:01Speaker 1: are not required to report passenger sexual misconduct to police
- 11:05Speaker 1: or a federal agency. United Airlines said in a statement,
- 11:09Speaker 1: we take this issue seriously. We spoke with the customer,
- 11:13Speaker 1: apologized for her experience. We also offered her either $ 1, 000
- 11:19Speaker 1: in travel credit or 50,000 miles as an apology. She
- 11:24Speaker 1: accepted the miles. Somebody masturbating in the seat next to you,
- 11:29Speaker 1: I think it's worth more than $ 1, 000. That's a $ 5, 000
- 11:33Speaker 1: gift or 100,000 miles. Oh, here's the good. We have
- 11:36Speaker 1: also banned the masturbator. We have banned that person. Oh,
- 11:42Speaker 1: pending our investigation. He's not completely banned. Pending their investigation. Well,
- 11:48Speaker 1: a United Airlines investigation. That's two junior nobodies they'll assign
- 11:54Speaker 1: to ask a few questions. This investigation will be a big,
- 11:59Speaker 1: what a report it'll be, half a paragraph. They do
- 12:03Speaker 1: say women traveling alone are recommended to choose an aisle
- 12:06Speaker 1: seat if possible. You would think there'd be more consequences
- 12:11Speaker 1: for that guy. President Trump going to Iowa today to campaign.
- 12:17Speaker 1: It was South Carolina yesterday. Bit of a rumble there.
- 12:21Speaker 1: President interrupted at least 12 times by hecklers, but two
- 12:25Speaker 1: of them were really bad hecklers. And then apparently they
- 12:28Speaker 1: got assaulted by Trump fans in the audience. All right.
- 12:34Speaker 1: In fact, one supporter hit the protester. He actually hit him.
- 12:40Speaker 1: Trump saw it and said, who's the guy that threw
- 12:43Speaker 1: that punch? Trump said from the stage. He said, you
- 12:46Speaker 1: reminded me of Evander Holyfeld. Trump told the senior citizen,
- 12:51Speaker 1: the guy with the punch was a senior citizen. Pretty
- 12:55Speaker 1: good compliment. Hey, speaking of Holyfeld, he's been traveling with Trump.
- 12:59Speaker 1: Mike Tyson traveling with Trump, campaigning with him. That's pretty good.
- 13:04Speaker 1: Remember yesterday, the day before I told you about SpaceX stock,
- 13:10Speaker 1: that they may combine with Tesla. SpaceX stock. and Tesla
- 13:14Speaker 1: might merge into one company that's caused the SpaceX stock
- 13:18Speaker 1: to go up. Well, yesterday, in the conference call, Musk himself,
- 13:24Speaker 1: in the conference call, said, yes, he is considering it. Yes,
- 13:27Speaker 1: it most likely will happen. So SpaceX, Tesla will merge.
- 13:32Speaker 1: If you got some SpaceX stock, maybe got into the IPO,
- 13:35Speaker 1: it will be a hell of a stock to have. Boy,
- 13:40Speaker 1: George Washington Bridge, Again, a mess today. There was a
- 13:43Speaker 1: terrible motorcycle accident, completely snarled up the George Washington Bridge.
- 13:48Speaker 1: Coming onto the bridge from Manhattan, I think it's still
- 13:51Speaker 1: all clogged up right now. Boy, that shooting on the bridge,
- 13:56Speaker 1: it closed down the bridge for a long time. It
- 13:58Speaker 1: turns out, they looked at the camera footage, the surveillance,
- 14:02Speaker 1: they could see it was road rage. And the road
- 14:04Speaker 1: rage led to one car, the driver pulling out a
- 14:07Speaker 1: gun and shooting the other car. Turns out it's an ex-cop.
- 14:11Speaker 1: This is hard to believe. It's a very strange story.
- 14:14Speaker 1: And the guy he shot looks like the nicest guy
- 14:17Speaker 1: in the world, family man, two kids, works at Con Edison,
- 14:21Speaker 1: been there 20 years. Everybody in the community said he's
- 14:23Speaker 1: the most wonderful family man, a great guy. How would
- 14:27Speaker 1: you get in a road rage with that guy? And
- 14:29Speaker 1: the guy that went crazy and shot him, an ex-cop. Now,
- 14:35Speaker 1: even if somebody cut you off or there was road
- 14:37Speaker 1: rage or something like that, I mean, it happens. But
- 14:40Speaker 1: an ex-cop? This guy should be so well-trained and disciplined.
- 14:44Speaker 1: The last person in the world to go crazy with
- 14:47Speaker 1: a gun should be an ex-cop. But it happened. Apparently,
- 14:50Speaker 1: the ex-cop has confessed to police. It's going to get
- 14:53Speaker 1: arraigned later today. We'll find out more. Hey, we'll take
- 14:57Speaker 1: some calls next. 800-321-0710 is the number. You always love
- 15:01Speaker 1: getting new callers if you've never called before.
- 15:03Speaker 4: 800-321-0710.
