- 0:01Speaker 1: Now, Ron Verb on NewsRadio 570 WKBN.
- 0:06Speaker 2: All right, 405 NewsRadio 570 WKBN and Ron Verb, 82 degrees.
- 0:13Speaker 3: Who let you in?
- 0:15Speaker 4: Me?
- 0:15Speaker 3: Yeah. I thought that door was locked.
- 0:18Speaker 4: Well, I have friends here. I was listening to you yesterday.
- 0:22Speaker 2: Okay, get close to that microphone if you wouldn't mind.
- 0:26Speaker 5: I was listening to you yesterday when you had your meltdown.
- 0:30Speaker 5: With G2 and 10.
- 0:31Speaker 3: My meltdown.
- 0:32Speaker 4: Yeah, your meltdown.
- 0:33Speaker 5: But first of all, it was great radio. Second of all,
- 0:36Speaker 5: I figured you needed a hug. So me being the
- 0:39Speaker 5: world's greatest hugger, I thought I'd come in and see
- 0:41Speaker 5: if that was the case. And then I listened to
- 0:42Speaker 5: you about the flock cameras today, and you're still off
- 0:45Speaker 5: the rail.
- 0:45Speaker 4: So what's up with you?
- 0:46Speaker 3: What do you mean off the rail? You think I'm
- 0:47Speaker 3: on the verge of a nervous breakdown?
- 0:48Speaker 4: I think you're past it. I think you've already done it.
- 0:51Speaker 4: You've bottomed out, and you're trying to dig yourself out.
- 0:54Speaker 3: You're telling me as a friend you came out of
- 0:55Speaker 3: here out of concern for me?
- 0:56Speaker 5: Yeah. I want to give you a hug, see if
- 0:58Speaker 5: that would help you out. But no, I don't think
- 1:01Speaker 5: that's the case, right?
- 1:03Speaker 3: I don't feel like I need a hug right now.
- 1:04Speaker 4: Yeah, no, you don't.
- 1:05Speaker 5: I can just see it. You're just not the same.
- 1:08Speaker 5: And now you're on to these flock things.
- 1:10Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:10Speaker 4: So sell me on why it's good, and I'll give
- 1:13Speaker 4: you my point.
- 1:14Speaker 3: Well, first of all, you live in Canfield, right?
- 1:16Speaker 4: Yes, I do.
- 1:17Speaker 2: Well, first and foremost, I don't know if I'm worthy
- 1:20Speaker 2: even to talk to you now.
- 1:21Speaker 3: You're close.
- 1:22Speaker 4: You're, what, 500 feet away? Come on.
- 1:25Speaker 2: Well, the reality is Canfield already has them.
- 1:29Speaker 4: Sure they do.
- 1:30Speaker 3: So has it affected your life at all?
- 1:33Speaker 2: No.
- 1:33Speaker 5: I am not going to argue your point. It doesn't
- 1:36Speaker 5: affect my life. Here's my point on it. When they
- 1:40Speaker 5: passed the Patriot Act, did you think that it had
- 1:44Speaker 5: everything in it that it did?
- 1:46Speaker 4: They told you that it was just to find terrorists. Remember?
- 1:50Speaker 5: That's all we're going to use the Patriot Act for.
- 1:52Speaker 5: We're just going to go out and find terrorists. The
- 1:54Speaker 5: regular person doesn't have to worry about it.
- 1:58Speaker 4: And then Mr.
- 1:59Speaker 5: Snowden comes out as the whistleblower and says, hey, because
- 2:03Speaker 5: he had a conscience. And he said, hey, you don't
- 2:06Speaker 5: understand what's really going on here. Every single one of
- 2:09Speaker 5: your conversations is being recorded. Every single one.
- 2:13Speaker 4: They took it to Congress.
- 2:15Speaker 5: If you want to, if you're out there and you
- 2:17Speaker 5: want to see a really, really good documentary, it's called
- 2:20Speaker 5: Citizen Four.
- 2:21Speaker 4: It's with Snowden.
- 2:23Speaker 5: And after, right after it happened and he had to
- 2:25Speaker 5: leave the country and he was over in England, I
- 2:26Speaker 5: believe at that time, or And then he went to Russia.
- 2:29Speaker 5: But he explains exactly what went on and how they
- 2:32Speaker 5: went after him. And if it wasn't for him, we
- 2:35Speaker 5: would still think the Patriot Act was a really good thing.
- 2:38Speaker 5: So my point to you is, I don't think you
- 2:41Speaker 5: trust government, do you?
- 2:43Speaker 2: No, I don't.
- 2:44Speaker 3: I don't totally trust government.
- 2:45Speaker 4: Then why are you saying that the flock hammers are good?
- 2:48Speaker 5: Because the government says on the police chief vows that
- 2:51Speaker 5: they will not be misused.
- 2:53Speaker 2: Because if you take a look at, for example, there's
- 2:56Speaker 2: a couple of answers to that question.
- 2:58Speaker 3: First of all, I want to start. Yes, correct ones. First,
- 3:00Speaker 3: I want to start with driving is a privilege, not
- 3:03Speaker 3: a right.
- 3:04Speaker 4: Gotcha.
- 3:04Speaker 2: You have to go get a license plate to drive
- 3:06Speaker 2: and a driver's license to drive. Flock cameras take a
- 3:09Speaker 2: picture of just as if you're if you're in a
- 3:11Speaker 2: traffic light and the cops behind you can run your
- 3:13Speaker 2: plate right then and there. He doesn't need a reason to.
- 3:15Speaker 2: He can just run it right then and there to see.
- 3:17Speaker 2: Are you on suspension? What's going on with that car?
- 3:20Speaker 3: Is it stolen?
- 3:21Speaker 2: As they often do, right there with the computer on it.
- 3:24Speaker 2: It's called a Leeds computer that they have in their car.
- 3:28Speaker 2: And if you're caught abusing that system, and some cops
- 3:31Speaker 2: have been abusing that system, you're fired and there are
- 3:35Speaker 2: ramifications that's against the law. Serious penalties against the law.
- 3:38Speaker 2: Just as there are with flock cameras. That if you're caught,
- 3:42Speaker 2: and we've had some cops that have used them for
- 3:45Speaker 2: personal reasons. You know, find out where their girlfriend was
- 3:47Speaker 2: going and this kind of stuff. And because you have
- 3:50Speaker 2: a login or signed in, it's obvious what was going on.
- 3:54Speaker 2: And guess what happens to them? Serious trouble. It's against
- 3:57Speaker 2: the law. You lose your job.
- 3:59Speaker 4: That's in a police department.
- 4:00Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 4:01Speaker 2: There are ramifications to this, but it's very rare. I mean,
- 4:06Speaker 2: I think most people would agree the vast majority of
- 4:09Speaker 2: cops are pretty honorable people.
- 4:11Speaker 4: I'm a blue guy. I'm all for the police.
- 4:14Speaker 3: Really?
- 4:14Speaker 2: You looked a little brown to me here with that tan.
- 4:16Speaker 2: You don't look like a blue guy to me. But anyway,
- 4:20Speaker 2: so that is what they're used for. Now, flock cameras,
- 4:24Speaker 2: Niles has them. Canfield has them. Boardman has them. I've
- 4:29Speaker 2: never felt violated when I went to any of those communities.
- 4:32Speaker 5: Did you feel violated with your cell phone when the
- 4:34Speaker 5: Patriot Act was implemented?
- 4:35Speaker 3: No, no.
- 4:36Speaker 4: You didn't?
- 4:37Speaker 3: Here's a strange thing.
- 4:38Speaker 4: Do you care that your conversations are being recorded?
- 4:42Speaker 2: You're asking me when my conversations are here i do
- 4:45Speaker 2: do you really think i mean okay probably not the
- 4:48Speaker 2: best point you can ask me that question again do
- 4:51Speaker 2: i care you see i don't know if you know
- 4:53Speaker 2: this but someone told me we broadcast this nonsense is
- 4:57Speaker 2: that what yes so my most of my conversations are
- 5:00Speaker 2: already public you know what i mean but uh but like.
- 5:04Speaker 4: I say dan right didn't have to worry about it.
- 5:06Speaker 2: His conversations were public, too, I think. They might have been.
- 5:11Speaker 2: But here's the reality. It's technology. And as I say,
- 5:17Speaker 2: if you go into Walmart, you're on camera because of shoplifters.
- 5:21Speaker 3: You're not going to have your privacy.
- 5:22Speaker 4: I don't have a problem.
- 5:23Speaker 2: They're going to watch you. And guess what?
- 5:25Speaker 3: Wait a minute. You're going to be watched in a
- 5:26Speaker 3: parking lot, too. They have cameras out there.
- 5:28Speaker 4: I don't have a problem with that. That's their property.
- 5:30Speaker 2: And that's right.
- 5:31Speaker 3: And guess what? I might have ring cameras.
- 5:35Speaker 2: At my house.
- 5:35Speaker 4: That's your property.
- 5:37Speaker 3: And I can watch you.
- 5:38Speaker 4: But that's only you.
- 5:40Speaker 2: No, I have it. A lot of times the cops
- 5:43Speaker 2: go down and say, hey. We had an issue down here.
- 5:46Speaker 2: Can we look at your video?
- 5:47Speaker 5: Sure.
- 5:47Speaker 2: And people say, okay.
- 5:48Speaker 4: But it's your property.
- 5:49Speaker 3: These are the public highways that we're talking about. These
- 5:52Speaker 3: are our roadways.
- 5:53Speaker 2: Our roadways.
- 5:54Speaker 4: Your roadways and my roadways.
- 5:56Speaker 3: The police are in charge of patrolling.
- 5:58Speaker 4: That we pay for.
- 6:00Speaker 2: Right. And crime and the flock cameras are a modern
- 6:04Speaker 2: technology tool just as a computer in a police car
- 6:06Speaker 2: is a tool, just as a radar gun is a tool.
- 6:10Speaker 2: This is technology that has advanced over the years so
- 6:13Speaker 2: that we can take your speed. We can run your plates.
- 6:16Speaker 2: We can see if a cop stops a car. Is
- 6:18Speaker 2: there a warrant out for you or something along those lines?
- 6:21Speaker 2: That's technology. We're not invading your privacy. So flat cameras
- 6:26Speaker 2: take a picture of your license plate as you drive by.
- 6:28Speaker 2: And guess what? If we're looking for a stolen car
- 6:32Speaker 2: or your car is stolen, it's going to send out
- 6:35Speaker 2: an alert. If you just robbed a bank and a
- 6:38Speaker 2: guy like you, I could see a guy like you.
- 6:40Speaker 3: Robbing a bank. You look like a bank robber to me.
- 6:42Speaker 4: I've only done two in my life. That's all.
- 6:43Speaker 3: And you got away with it, right?
- 6:44Speaker 2: Yes, I did. Because there weren't flock cameras.
- 6:46Speaker 5: I have a mask of you when I walk in,
- 6:48Speaker 5: so the cameras see that you're actually robbing.
- 6:50Speaker 2: But it was your license plate.
- 6:52Speaker 4: And the cameras broke, too, when they saw your face.
- 6:54Speaker 2: Unfortunately, yes, it does happen. Seven years of bad luck.
- 6:58Speaker 2: That's where you got 14 now.
- 6:59Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 7:00Speaker 2: So anyway, people want to speculate and say, this is terrible.
- 7:06Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 7:07Speaker 2: This is a tool for my local police departments to
- 7:11Speaker 2: be more efficient and to keep crime down in my community.
- 7:15Speaker 2: Should I make a comparison? Oh, it's going to be
- 7:18Speaker 2: like what the NSA does or what Snowden said. You can't.
- 7:22Speaker 4: That's my point. You can't make.
- 7:24Speaker 2: That because– Then we should say we're going to do
- 7:27Speaker 2: away with all of this stuff. But we're not doing
- 7:30Speaker 2: that with technology. We're using it as a tool to
- 7:33Speaker 2: get guys like you– When guys like you are shoplifting
- 7:37Speaker 2: from Walmart. And I can see you shoplifting from Walmart.
- 7:41Speaker 4: Their prices are too high. I check out myself, so
- 7:43Speaker 4: I take my discount.
- 7:45Speaker 2: Yeah, on that kind of stuff. So these are tools.
- 7:49Speaker 2: The people that are against flat cameras are always saying,
- 7:52Speaker 2: what if this? Or what about this? What about that? Well,
- 7:54Speaker 2: those whatabouts, my counter to that is, what if none
- 7:57Speaker 2: of that happens?
- 7:58Speaker 5: I don't have a what about. I'm not complaining about that.
- 8:01Speaker 5: I think everything you said is valid.
- 8:03Speaker 2: I know, but you want to say, well, what about this?
- 8:06Speaker 2: What about that? Well, no. What about if that doesn't happen?
- 8:09Speaker 2: Let's deal with the reality. What is the current law?
- 8:12Speaker 2: What are they currently used for? And how effective are they?
- 8:16Speaker 2: Have you avoided going to Niles because of fly cameras?
- 8:19Speaker 4: I was just there yesterday. I'm going there as soon
- 8:21Speaker 4: as I leave here.
- 8:21Speaker 2: It might not be a good idea for you to
- 8:23Speaker 2: go there. We can get your plate and that kind
- 8:25Speaker 2: of stuff.
- 8:25Speaker 4: It's okay. I have my Ron Verb mask. I'm fine.
- 8:28Speaker 2: Right, right. But that is– like I say, there were
- 8:39Speaker 2: six cameras in Austintown. I wish they would get more quite–
- 8:43Speaker 2: they're not traffic cameras. They're not going to get you
- 8:45Speaker 2: for speeding. But if your car is stolen– Or there's
- 8:49Speaker 2: to be on the lookout for a guy like you.
- 8:51Speaker 2: Let's say you just robbed a bank or abducted a child.
- 8:54Speaker 2: This is going to help us quickly.
- 8:56Speaker 5: Find out where you are.
- 8:59Speaker 3: Robberies, assaults, property crimes.
- 9:02Speaker 2: So this will help the cops find you and stop
- 9:07Speaker 2: crime in your neighborhood. Now, I realize you live in Canfield.
- 9:10Speaker 2: And in Canfield, there is no crime. I understand that.
- 9:12Speaker 4: There is crime in Canfield. They just don't– you just
- 9:15Speaker 4: don't find out about it.
- 9:16Speaker 2: I doubt if there's any serious crime. Maybe during Halloween
- 9:19Speaker 2: and a kid soaps your windows because you have the
- 9:22Speaker 2: lights out and you don't give out anything. But that's–
- 9:25Speaker 2: so somebody breaks into your house and does that. These
- 9:28Speaker 2: are great things.
- 9:29Speaker 5: Everything you're saying is true. I don't have a problem
- 9:31Speaker 5: with anything you're saying. My problem is this. Screw me
- 9:35Speaker 5: over once, shame on you. Screw me over twice, shame
- 9:38Speaker 5: on me.
- 9:38Speaker 2: Well, they haven't screwed you over on flat cameras, have they?
- 9:41Speaker 4: No, they're government, so I don't trust them. End of story. Well,
- 9:44Speaker 4: the police department is the government.
- 9:47Speaker 3: The fire department is the government.
- 9:49Speaker 4: Too bad. I got to say no.
- 9:51Speaker 3: Do you trust them?
- 9:52Speaker 5: I trust them to do their job, not with implementing
- 9:55Speaker 5: things like this.
- 9:56Speaker 4: Are you for artificial intelligence?
- 9:58Speaker 3: I have artificial intelligence.
- 10:00Speaker 2: Intelligence.
- 10:00Speaker 4: You're a robot. That's what it is. I couldn't figure out.
- 10:06Speaker 4: You're a damn robot.
- 10:07Speaker 3: As a matter of fact, I'm going to tell you.
- 10:10Speaker 2: AI has its positives and its negatives, just like the internet. See,
- 10:14Speaker 2: this is what people fail to realize. We all use
- 10:16Speaker 2: the internet, do we not? The internet is a wonderful tool,
- 10:21Speaker 2: but also all the evilness of the world can come
- 10:24Speaker 2: into your household too. So you have people that's engaged
- 10:28Speaker 2: in that evilness, and guess what? That's part of the internet.
- 10:31Speaker 2: But should we eliminate the internet because some people use.
- 10:34Speaker 3: It for that?
- 10:35Speaker 7: No.
- 10:36Speaker 4: Internet's not a government thing.
- 10:37Speaker 2: Right, but that's the internet that we have out there.
- 10:41Speaker 2: So you can use anything for good and bad. The
- 10:44Speaker 2: technology is a good thing. This cell phone tells anybody
- 10:48Speaker 2: where I'm at.
- 10:50Speaker 5: And you could thank the Patriot Act for that.
- 10:54Speaker 4: And you could thank your government lying to you.
- 10:56Speaker 2: Actually, I'm going to tell you, I know exactly who
- 10:58Speaker 2: to thank for this. I actually, believe it or not.
- 11:01Speaker 4: Wait a second here. I want to get on the
- 11:03Speaker 4: edge of my seat. Go ahead, Ronald.
- 11:04Speaker 2: I actually, actually, personally know the guy that's invented the
- 11:10Speaker 2: GPS on cell phones.
- 11:12Speaker 4: And his name?
- 11:14Speaker 2: His first name is Tim.
- 11:15Speaker 4: Tim?
- 11:16Speaker 3: Personally know. And he was a guy that's.
- 11:20Speaker 4: Must be a genius.
- 11:22Speaker 3: And a wealthy one.
- 11:23Speaker 5: He doesn't have to worry about gas prices.
- 11:28Speaker 2: But the cops have their own logins. You've got to
- 11:30Speaker 2: put in a reason for the search. They're logged in,
- 11:33Speaker 2: so if an officer uses it for something they shouldn't
- 11:35Speaker 2: be using it for, there's a record of it, and
- 11:37Speaker 2: you can get in trouble for abusing it. It doesn't
- 11:40Speaker 2: do facial recognition. Got some notes here from Officer Eric Verb.
- 11:45Speaker 4: Oh, okay. Hello, Eric. So let me, just one more thing.
- 11:49Speaker 4: So if you had No, I don't want to go
- 11:53Speaker 4: that way. My thing is this.
- 11:57Speaker 2: What kind of loss have you broken? Is there something
- 11:59Speaker 2: you want to confess to?
- 12:00Speaker 4: No, no, no.
- 12:01Speaker 2: That you're so paranoid of flock cameras?
- 12:03Speaker 8: No.
- 12:03Speaker 3: And what have you done lately?
- 12:04Speaker 4: Ex-husbands. Ex-husbands.
- 12:06Speaker 3: Are you stealing stuff?
- 12:07Speaker 4: Like that clop.
- 12:08Speaker 2: Have you stole like those chrome balls out of people's yards? No.
- 12:12Speaker 3: Pink flamingos?
- 12:13Speaker 2: No.
- 12:14Speaker 4: I got the air fresheners out of your truck when
- 12:16Speaker 4: I came in.
- 12:17Speaker 2: They weren't any good anyway. Have you smelled the air
- 12:20Speaker 2: in your truck?
- 12:20Speaker 4: Like five years old.
- 12:21Speaker 2: Well, the only thing you're going to smell in there
- 12:23Speaker 2: is the remnants of a Chipotle.
- 12:24Speaker 4: Here's why I came in. You were saying that people
- 12:26Speaker 4: are going crazy.
- 12:27Speaker 3: You thought I was having a nervous breakdown.
- 12:28Speaker 4: Well, that, yeah.
- 12:29Speaker 5: I wanted to come in yesterday. But you, I was
- 12:31Speaker 5: really worried about yesterday. I thought you were off the rails.
- 12:35Speaker 4: I just think that if.
- 12:37Speaker 5: You were saying about how that people are going, you know,
- 12:39Speaker 5: they're going berserk or they're, what was the word you used?
- 12:43Speaker 4: They were crazy about the.
- 12:45Speaker 2: Inflation? No, no, no.
- 12:46Speaker 4: About the. The cameras. They have all these conspiracy theories
- 12:51Speaker 4: about it. Okay. So my point is it's not a
- 12:53Speaker 4: conspiracy theory with me.
- 12:55Speaker 2: Well, there's people that have conspiracy theories about ring cameras.
- 12:57Speaker 2: They're always watching you.
- 12:59Speaker 4: Well, they're always listening to you with Alexa. That's proven. So, yeah.
- 13:03Speaker 4: And Alexa says.
- 13:05Speaker 2: To me, we're listening and you're not that interesting. That's
- 13:09Speaker 2: what Alexa said to me. Right. I said, if I
- 13:11Speaker 2: want to be treated like that, I'll ask my wife.
- 13:13Speaker 4: Yeah. She won't answer you, though.
- 13:16Speaker 2: But I think she might think the same thing.
- 13:18Speaker 4: So my point is I'm not a conspiracy theorist. I
- 13:21Speaker 4: just don't– after.
- 13:22Speaker 5: The Patriot Act, I went to school. I'm not going
- 13:24Speaker 5: to do the shame on me on the second time.
- 13:26Speaker 5: I don't trust government.
- 13:27Speaker 4: I really don't.
- 13:29Speaker 5: Are flock hammers good? We'll know in a year or
- 13:31Speaker 5: two when everything shakes out.
- 13:32Speaker 3: Well, they've been around a long time.
- 13:33Speaker 4: Yeah, but maybe– You've been in Canfield.
- 13:36Speaker 3: They've had them for a while.
- 13:37Speaker 5: If it wasn't for Snowden– We might not ever know
- 13:40Speaker 5: about the Patriot Act. If there wasn't a whistleblower, maybe
- 13:43Speaker 5: there will need to be a whistleblower about this or
- 13:45Speaker 5: artificial intelligence, whatever. If the government's involved and their lips
- 13:49Speaker 5: are moving, when you watch the Capitol here, if you
- 13:52Speaker 5: have two politicians on each side of the aisle and
- 13:54Speaker 5: they're both talking and giving an argument, you know one
- 13:57Speaker 5: of them is lying and one of them might be telling.
- 13:59Speaker 4: Somewhat of the truth. So I don't trust anybody there.
- 14:03Speaker 5: I don't trust anybody with technology in the government and
- 14:06Speaker 5: I don't trust them when they say, oh, no, this
- 14:08Speaker 5: is fine.
- 14:08Speaker 4: You trust us. We're the government. We wouldn't do anything
- 14:11Speaker 4: bad to you. Yeah, they would. Patriot Act. That's my point.
- 14:15Speaker 4: I'm not a conspiracy theorist.
- 14:16Speaker 2: That's why I look at it. I think you're a
- 14:18Speaker 2: paranoid nut. I think you're a paranoid nut.
- 14:23Speaker 4: My mom had me tested.
- 14:24Speaker 9: No.
- 14:25Speaker 3: I think that you're on the verge of flipping out.
- 14:27Speaker 4: See, I'm like you yesterday.
- 14:29Speaker 5: No.
- 14:30Speaker 2: He was perfectly calm yesterday and perfectly calm today.
- 14:32Speaker 3: You were calm.
- 14:32Speaker 4: My butt, you were calm. You were nuts yesterday.
- 14:35Speaker 2: It was a fiery exchange with G2 and Ted the Conservative.
- 14:38Speaker 4: I was going to call an ambulance to get him
- 14:39Speaker 4: in here. Put a net over you.
- 14:42Speaker 2: You know what?
- 14:43Speaker 3: We can disagree and we can still part friends.
- 14:46Speaker 10: Yes.
- 14:47Speaker 3: I can with Ted and G2. Now, you on the
- 14:49Speaker 3: other hand.
- 14:51Speaker 4: But I could do it.
- 14:52Speaker 5: I could part friends with you and say, you know...
- 14:54Speaker 5: I just wanted to give my opinion, and I might
- 14:56Speaker 5: not be right. It's just my opinion. It's just the
- 14:58Speaker 5: way I think.
- 14:59Speaker 3: When was the last time you were ever right?
- 15:02Speaker 4: What year is it?
- 15:03Speaker 2: Decade.
- 15:04Speaker 4: Exactly my point. Century.
- 15:07Speaker 2: I'll say to you what I say to everybody. The government,
- 15:10Speaker 2: if they're monitoring you and want you to know something,
- 15:12Speaker 2: you're not that interesting.
- 15:13Speaker 4: Yeah, right.
- 15:15Speaker 9: Really?
- 15:15Speaker 3: Not that interesting.
- 15:16Speaker 4: That's why they have laws.
- 15:17Speaker 2: They could put any person in this country in jail
- 15:19Speaker 2: if they wanted to. Go ahead and ask me that
- 15:20Speaker 2: question again. Go ahead and ask me that question you
- 15:22Speaker 2: wanted to ask me again. How would I feel about
- 15:24Speaker 2: it if my phone conversations were public?
- 15:27Speaker 5: Ron, how would you feel about it if your phone
- 15:29Speaker 5: conversations went public?
- 15:30Speaker 4: They are.
- 15:31Speaker 2: Okay. Now, when that question was half out, did you
- 15:36Speaker 2: come to think that might be the dumbest question I've
- 15:38Speaker 2: ever asked?
- 15:39Speaker 4: How are your phone conversations public?
- 15:41Speaker 2: You're on the air.
- 15:42Speaker 4: No, cell phone conversations.
- 15:45Speaker 2: These are my phone conversations.
- 15:46Speaker 4: No, your cell phone conversations.
- 15:49Speaker 5: See, look what he's doing, audience. He's trying to spin
- 15:52Speaker 5: this now in a way that it's going to..
- 15:53Speaker 2: These are my conversations. I just had a conversation with you.
- 15:56Speaker 5: It's verbiage that he's using here that's kind of sliding
- 16:00Speaker 5: in his way.
- 16:00Speaker 3: My conversation with you was public, was it not?
- 16:04Speaker 4: I find you reprehensible today, Mr. Burke.
- 16:06Speaker 3: You can't even spell it. Go ahead, you're on air.
- 16:12Speaker 2: Is that me?
- 16:13Speaker 3: Yes, it is, sir.
- 16:17Speaker 10: Who you got in the studio with you?
- 16:20Speaker 4: Teddy McCuggan.
- 16:22Speaker 3: Homie Cheese.
- 16:24Speaker 10: Okay. My name's Emmanuel. I'm from Warren, Ohio. You need
- 16:28Speaker 10: to talk to your athletic director and put us on
- 16:30Speaker 10: the football schedule. Y'all scared to play us.
- 16:32Speaker 7: But, Ron.
- 16:34Speaker 3: They are really scared to play you. I agree with that.
- 16:37Speaker 4: Who, Canfield?
- 16:38Speaker 3: Yeah, the Cardinals.
- 16:39Speaker 4: Oh, you want to play Harding. Are they Division II
- 16:44Speaker 4: or I now?
- 16:45Speaker 3: Stand by, Emmanuel. Stand by. Stand by.
- 16:48Speaker 2: Get to the bottom of this, and I'll take more calls.
- 16:52Speaker 2: 422 from the Kingdom of Mahoning, Ron Furman.

- 17:13Speaker 8: amazing real estate agents. When it comes to choosing an
- 17:16Speaker 8: agent that you need to trust, one with integrity and
- 17:20Speaker 8: experience in your market, it's important you pick the right person.

- 17:40Speaker 8: Don't sell your home through a website, AI, or take
- 17:43Speaker 8: a low ball offer. Sell with confidence by working with

- 17:59Speaker 4: This is Bill Withers.
- 18:00Speaker 1: And Talk Station 570 WKBN. All right.
- 18:05Speaker 2: Go ahead. You're talking about the Cardinals taking on... Harding?
- 18:10Speaker 4: The Raiders.
- 18:11Speaker 3: Oh, the Raiders. Yeah.
- 18:14Speaker 10: We're a small division, too, but we just play the
- 18:18Speaker 10: Mastlins and the Kent McKinleys. We play you guys in basketball.
- 18:22Speaker 10: We play you guys in volleyball. We swim against you guys.
- 18:25Speaker 10: We play you guys in baseball. you should at least
- 18:28Speaker 10: scrimmage us. But I will give you credit for it.
- 18:30Speaker 10: I've got to give you credit. You guys have one
- 18:32Speaker 10: heck of a dog on band night. I love going
- 18:34Speaker 10: out there to see you guys band night. You treat
- 18:36Speaker 10: us nice when we go there. You have good food
- 18:39Speaker 10: and good entertainment. So I'm going to give you guys
- 18:41Speaker 10: a campfield credit for that.
- 18:42Speaker 5: And I want to chime in here and say that
- 18:44Speaker 5: band members are the most underappreciated kids in school. They
- 18:48Speaker 5: work their butts off all summer just like the football
- 18:51Speaker 5: team does to get their precision down.
- 18:53Speaker 4: And they never get the credit that's due. Now, if
- 18:56Speaker 4: you want to go.
- 18:57Speaker 5: To Wisconsin and some parts of Illinois and Minnesota, they
- 19:01Speaker 5: don't care about the football games up there. They go
- 19:02Speaker 5: to see the halftime shows. They're all military precision bands
- 19:05Speaker 5: up there.
- 19:06Speaker 3: You know, my goal in life is to dot the I.
- 19:08Speaker 4: At Ohio State?
- 19:09Speaker 3: Oh, no. At Youngstown State. What do you mean at
- 19:13Speaker 3: Ohio State?
- 19:13Speaker 4: Youngstown.
- 19:15Speaker 10: I don't know why. My daughter's a sophomore at Ohio State.
- 19:19Speaker 4: What's that?
- 19:19Speaker 10: She just went back. My daughter's a sophomore at Ohio State.
- 19:23Speaker 10: She just went back.
- 19:24Speaker 2: Mm-hmm.
- 19:25Speaker 10: And my oldest daughter lives in wisconsin but uh what's your.
- 19:28Speaker 2: Oldest what's your oldest daughter is your older daughter oldest
- 19:31Speaker 2: daughter a dairy farmer she's in wisconsin listen man.
- 19:36Speaker 10: I love my daughter just like you love yours and
- 19:38Speaker 10: that's the same one that uh that they they crazy
- 19:41Speaker 10: about you every time they see you whether it's italian
- 19:44Speaker 10: fest or the greek fest they think you walk on
- 19:46Speaker 10: water and i don't understand that i.
- 19:48Speaker 2: Don't either But there's nothing I enjoy more, though. There's
- 19:51Speaker 2: nothing I enjoy more than seeing Emanuel at the Greek
- 19:55Speaker 2: Fest or the Italian Fest, and I say, go figure.
- 19:57Speaker 2: I never knew you were Greek or Italian.
- 20:01Speaker 4: He doesn't sound Greek.
- 20:03Speaker 2: But that's my favorite line whenever I see him at
- 20:05Speaker 2: the Greek Italian Fest. I never knew. I never knew
- 20:10Speaker 2: you were Italian, Emmanuel. I never knew it when I
- 20:12Speaker 2: see you there.
- 20:15Speaker 10: Okay, now let's get serious, okay?
- 20:16Speaker 2: Okay.
- 20:17Speaker 10: I've been listening to you over two decades, Ronald. And
- 20:21Speaker 10: I've got to say this. About the swap cameras, you
- 20:25Speaker 10: are being so hypocritical, it is a shame. I'm going
- 20:28Speaker 10: to tell you why.
- 20:30Speaker 3: Go ahead.
- 20:31Speaker 10: Now, I'm going to tell you why. Now, you're calling
- 20:35Speaker 10: people paranoid and this and that and whatever, right? But
- 20:40Speaker 10: over the last 20 years, the last 20 years, when
- 20:44Speaker 10: someone said, we need to ban assault weapons, well, what
- 20:49Speaker 10: about the super assault? They're going to start with the
- 20:51Speaker 10: assault weapons, then they're going to go get this, they're
- 20:53Speaker 10: going to go get that. That's you, Ron. You've been
- 20:55Speaker 10: saying that over a thousand times. So when I say,
- 20:59Speaker 10: when I say, I don't want the cameras for one reason,
- 21:03Speaker 10: one reason only. I'm going to fight big boy to
- 21:05Speaker 10: my last breath. They're not going to be watching over me.
- 21:09Speaker 2: Sir, are you a criminal?
- 21:12Speaker 3: Are you committing crime?
- 21:15Speaker 10: Talking to you? Yeah. Every time I talk to you,
- 21:17Speaker 10: I'm breaking the law of physics.
- 21:20Speaker 2: Because you have nothing to fear from a flock camera.
- 21:24Speaker 2: For example, God forbid, God forbid. Let me ask you
- 21:28Speaker 2: a question. I want to ask you a question. Let's
- 21:30Speaker 2: say somebody stole somebody stole your 1985 Ford pickup truck.
- 21:38Speaker 3: Is that about right? You probably have an 85 Ford
- 21:40Speaker 3: pickup truck.
- 21:41Speaker 10: No, I got a 76.
- 21:42Speaker 6: Blow it.
- 21:43Speaker 2: Okay. All right. Let's say somebody stole your 1976 Ford
- 21:49Speaker 2: pickup truck.
- 21:51Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 21:52Speaker 2: Would you want the floor? Yeah. Do you have a
- 21:55Speaker 2: license plate on your vehicle?
- 21:56Speaker 5: Sometimes.
- 21:58Speaker 2: Sometimes. Okay. Do you own a license plate that would
- 22:04Speaker 2: be yours on your vehicle?
- 22:06Speaker 4: Yes.
- 22:07Speaker 7: Beautiful.
- 22:10Speaker 4: Is the vehicle leased or owned?
- 22:11Speaker 2: Yeah. Wouldn't you want us to... No, I'm not done
- 22:15Speaker 2: with my questioning. Would you want us to recover your..
- 22:17Speaker 10: You've been doing this a hundred times. Go ahead.
- 22:18Speaker 2: Would you want us to recover your 1976 Ford pickup
- 22:23Speaker 2: truck with our flock cameras as it was being stolen
- 22:28Speaker 2: by someone in your community?
- 22:31Speaker 10: Okay, let me tell you how I feel about this.
- 22:33Speaker 10: All right?
- 22:35Speaker 3: Now, I realize, let me preface the question.
- 22:38Speaker 2: I realize probably the person that stole that truck will
- 22:41Speaker 2: get in and realize there's less than a quarter a
- 22:43Speaker 2: tank of gas in it. So how far are they
- 22:45Speaker 2: going to get anyway, right?
- 22:48Speaker 10: Yeah, if somebody robbed me, it's just for practice and
- 22:50Speaker 10: they ain't getting no money.
- 22:51Speaker 4: It's a 76, man. He doesn't even have gas in
- 22:53Speaker 4: there anymore.
- 22:54Speaker 5: He just tore out the floorboards and he's got a
- 22:56Speaker 5: Flintstone mobile now.
- 22:59Speaker 2: I've had enough of you. I can't take you anymore.
- 23:02Speaker 10: Wait a minute. What about Amber Alert? Now you're talking about..
- 23:06Speaker 2: Stand by, stand by, stand by, stand by. News Radio
- 23:09Speaker 2: 570 WKVN.
- 23:13Speaker 12: The family of a man fatally shot by an Akron
- 23:15Speaker 12: police officer is seeing $ 10 million from the city and
- 23:18Speaker 12: the police department. 54-year-old Michael Jones was killed in August
- 23:21Speaker 12: of 2024 during an investigation into a stolen U-Haul in Kenmore.
- 23:25Speaker 12: A grand jury declined to indict the officer, clearing him
- 23:28Speaker 12: of criminal wrongdoing. But the lawsuit alleges the officer created
- 23:31Speaker 12: an unnecessary and dangerous confrontation. by jumping into the moving
- 23:35Speaker 12: U-Haul and taking unlawful and unreasonable risk. And Ohio is
- 23:38Speaker 12: now the first state in the country to require public
- 23:40Speaker 12: schools to have a formal policy governing the use of
- 23:43Speaker 12: artificial intelligence. Under a new state law, school districts must
- 23:46Speaker 12: submit their own AI guidelines for this school year or
- 23:49Speaker 12: adopt a policy created by the Ohio Department of Education.
- 23:52Speaker 12: The policies spell out acceptable and prohibited uses of AI
- 23:55Speaker 12: for students and staff. They also include enforcement rules and
- 23:59Speaker 12: measures designed to prevent students from using AI to cheat
- 24:02Speaker 12: on assignments.
- 24:03Speaker 2: I'm Brady Huffman.
- 24:04Speaker 1: Listen on the free iHeartRadio app for all your music, news, talk,
- 24:08Speaker 1: and sports radio.
- 24:09Speaker 10: Podcasts, too.
- 24:10Speaker 3: Download the app.
- 24:12Speaker 2: Free never sounded so good.
- 24:14Speaker 11: A to Z dependable services. Plumbing, septic, heating, cooling, and
- 24:18Speaker 11: one-day baths. Highways still accident-free this afternoon. You have some
- 24:22Speaker 11: congestion on 224 near Route 7. Stop-and-go traffic continues due
- 24:27Speaker 11: to road work on I-80. That's from Salt Springs Road
- 24:30Speaker 11: to Route 46 in Trumbull. And watch for a slight
- 24:33Speaker 11: delay on 82 between Route 46 and Route 11.
- 24:37Speaker 2: I'm Mike Ross from the Total Traffic Center.
- 24:39Speaker 3: This report is sponsored by Mattress Firm.
- 24:42Speaker 2: Still sleeping on that old bed?
- 24:44Speaker 5: Mattress Firm.
- 24:46Speaker 1: Now, Ron Verb on NewsRadio 570 WKBN. All right, NewsRadio
- 24:54Speaker 1: 570 WKBN.
- 24:55Speaker 2: Go ahead.
- 24:55Speaker 3: You wanted to say something to me, Emmanuel.
- 24:59Speaker 10: Okay, well. I've seen when a child gets snatched up, right,
- 25:07Speaker 10: the Amber Alert goes up to people's phones, through their TV,
- 25:10Speaker 10: through radio, through everything. And I can remember not too
- 25:14Speaker 10: long ago, about six months ago, if that, a police
- 25:19Speaker 10: officer from another county Came here, got in a car accident,
- 25:22Speaker 10: did some shooting. They put his car out. They put
- 25:25Speaker 10: his name out. They put a picture of him. And
- 25:28Speaker 10: before you know it, this guy was arrested in your town,
- 25:32Speaker 10: Austin County. Is that right? So we don't need Big
- 25:36Speaker 10: Brother watching everything we do. Because I'm going to say
- 25:41Speaker 10: the slippery slope. You call me paranoid. Were you paranoid
- 25:44Speaker 10: about this?
- 25:44Speaker 3: You're paranoid.
- 25:45Speaker 2: You're a paranoid nut. I wanted to call you something
- 25:51Speaker 2: more than paranoid, so I'm going to call you a
- 25:53Speaker 2: paranoid nut.
- 25:55Speaker 9: Okay.
- 25:56Speaker 10: My girl will like that. I'm going to tell her
- 25:57Speaker 10: that when I see her.
- 25:58Speaker 2: Sometimes you need a nut, and sometimes you don't.
- 26:00Speaker 10: Last thing. This is the last thing. I'm going to go.
- 26:03Speaker 10: After this, I'm going to go. The next time that
- 26:05Speaker 10: me and you talk, I want you to get ready.
- 26:07Speaker 10: I'm going to ask you.
- 26:09Speaker 3: To dance?
- 26:09Speaker 2: You're going to ask me to dance, aren't you?
- 26:13Speaker 10: No, no, no, no. Bubba Canoes asked me to dance.
- 26:15Speaker 10: I wouldn't dance with him either.
- 26:16Speaker 4: Remember?
- 26:18Speaker 2: It was really odd, though, like I say, when I
- 26:22Speaker 2: saw him at the Greek Fest and I said, Emmanuel,
- 26:24Speaker 2: I never knew you were Greek.
- 26:27Speaker 10: But I'm going to ask you this, right? The next
- 26:31Speaker 10: time we talk, I want you to explain to me,
- 26:34Speaker 10: I looked at all these campaign speeches from Mr. Trump,
- 26:37Speaker 10: Donald Trump, our president, about what he wasn't going to
- 26:40Speaker 10: do and what he's going to do. I'm going to
- 26:43Speaker 10: ask you, how do you feel about What he said
- 26:46Speaker 10: to get elected and what he's.
- 26:47Speaker 2: Doing right now. I'm going to hang up. You call
- 26:52Speaker 2: me next time because I'm very disappointed. Thank you. Thank you.
- 26:56Speaker 2: I'm very disappointed. Listen, I don't take away all the
- 27:00Speaker 2: good stuff Trump did as far as the border. And
- 27:02Speaker 2: he needs to do more with the border. The border
- 27:04Speaker 2: is secure. He needs to do more in getting people
- 27:06Speaker 2: out of this country. I don't take that away from him.
- 27:08Speaker 2: I don't take away from him. The good things that
- 27:11Speaker 2: he's done, but this war situation, I totally disagree with
- 27:16Speaker 2: him on. You don't have to approve of something that
- 27:18Speaker 2: somebody does 100% of everything. So when it comes to Trump,
- 27:25Speaker 2: I wouldn't vote for Kamala Harris. I wouldn't vote for Biden.
- 27:27Speaker 2: I wouldn't vote for Gavin Newsom. Obviously, I voted for Trump,
- 27:32Speaker 2: and he'd be done. But he's disappointed me with what
- 27:35Speaker 2: he's done lately. He's lost track of the American agenda.
- 27:39Speaker 2: And I'm an American.
- 27:40Speaker 3: You're on the air.
- 27:42Speaker 6: Hi, Ron.
- 27:43Speaker 2: Oh, it's Jay.
- 27:44Speaker 4: Excuse me.
- 27:44Speaker 2: It's JJ the Trumpster.
- 27:47Speaker 10: I don't know what I am anymore.
- 27:51Speaker 9: I have no problem with the, you know, the... I mean,
- 27:55Speaker 9: I don't really give a flock about the flock, you know, cameras. But,
- 27:58Speaker 9: I mean, if it's going to save somebody's life or
- 28:01Speaker 9: it's going to stop something, you know, if I'm not
- 28:04Speaker 9: doing anything illegal, I shouldn't have to worry about it.
- 28:06Speaker 2: And..
- 28:07Speaker 9: You know, it seems like people are getting upset at
- 28:09Speaker 9: that when there's other things to be concerned about. But anyway,
- 28:14Speaker 9: I agree with you, and that's unusual. You agree with me.
- 28:20Speaker 2: Boy, your medication really needs to be adjusted. He's agreeing
- 28:23Speaker 2: with me. I mean, geez.
- 28:25Speaker 9: Yeah, I'm a little.
- 28:27Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 28:28Speaker 9: But I just don't understand why everybody's getting to, you know,
- 28:30Speaker 9: their panties in a bunch over it.
- 28:32Speaker 2: Because they all want to go, oh, it could do this,
- 28:35Speaker 2: it could do that, it could do that. Well, that's
- 28:39Speaker 2: all speculation. It isn't doing any of those things. But
- 28:41Speaker 2: here's the reality. If your car is stolen, it means
- 28:44Speaker 2: we can recover your car. If somebody apprehends your kid,
- 28:47Speaker 2: it means the odds are much better in solving crime.
- 28:50Speaker 2: In your community and keeping your community safe. And that
- 28:54Speaker 2: and when the guardrails are there. And how you would say,
- 28:57Speaker 2: I don't want any of those benefits.
- 28:59Speaker 9: So I don't know why everybody is so upset about it.
- 29:02Speaker 9: I'm driving right now and I'm down to 46 and
- 29:05Speaker 9: I guarantee there's three cameras that are seeing what I'm
- 29:08Speaker 9: doing right now. So I think people get worried about it.
- 29:12Speaker 9: Certain things that, you know, it's already in place now,
- 29:15Speaker 9: you know, that people are, that Big Brother's watching.
- 29:18Speaker 13: So it's... Where are you going?
- 29:19Speaker 4: It's just, you know..
- 29:20Speaker 3: Where are you going to?
- 29:22Speaker 9: I'm taking my dog up to Tractor Supply or Tractor...
- 29:26Speaker 9: It was at Tractor Supply where they give him his
- 29:29Speaker 9: shots and everything for a very expensive price. But, you know,
- 29:33Speaker 9: he can go between certain hours of the month. And
- 29:36Speaker 9: so I'm on my way up there between 5 and
- 29:38Speaker 9: 7 and get him his rabies shots. and get my
- 29:41Speaker 9: rabies shot and get his death distemper and my distemper.
- 29:45Speaker 2: So basically, you and the dog go in for checkups
- 29:48Speaker 2: at the same time. Yes, exactly.
- 29:51Speaker 9: I just, you know, I got to make sure I
- 29:52Speaker 9: don't have fleas and that whole kind of thing. I
- 29:55Speaker 9: know he's doing good, but I just, you know, I
- 29:57Speaker 9: got to keep an eye on myself because, you know.
- 29:59Speaker 10: Once you sleep with the dogs, you're.
- 30:01Speaker 9: Going to wake up with something.
- 30:04Speaker 2: I just don't understand why everybody's getting so upset about
- 30:09Speaker 2: it and arguing with you and everything.
- 30:10Speaker 9: Think of this.
- 30:11Speaker 2: All of our listeners in Austintown know to go to
- 30:14Speaker 2: the tractor supply at 5 o'clock and they can meet J.J.
- 30:18Speaker 2: The Trumpster formerly known as J.J., the liberal.
- 30:20Speaker 4: May I ask him a question?
- 30:22Speaker 3: No.
- 30:24Speaker 4: Do you trust your government, J.J.? You think they tell
- 30:27Speaker 4: you the truth all the time?
- 30:29Speaker 2: Yes.
- 30:30Speaker 3: Yes, he does.
- 30:30Speaker 4: Did I say Ron? I said J.J.
- 30:33Speaker 2: I know J.J.
- 30:34Speaker 4: J.J.
- 30:34Speaker 2: 's a trusting man. Yes, he is.
- 30:36Speaker 4: That's why I'm talking to him. If I wanted untrusting,
- 30:39Speaker 4: I'd talk to you.
- 30:40Speaker 9: Your question was what again, sir?
- 30:42Speaker 4: Do you trust the government? Are they telling you the truth?
- 30:47Speaker 5: Okay, so why do you trust them about fog cameras then?
- 30:50Speaker 3: This is your local government.
- 30:51Speaker 9: The thing is, I'm not doing anything. I understand what
- 30:54Speaker 9: you're saying, that I could be doing nothing, but I
- 30:57Speaker 9: could be put into a position where they say that
- 31:01Speaker 9: I did something, and with AI now that they can
- 31:05Speaker 9: put my face or my car somewhere where I really wasn't.
- 31:08Speaker 9: So I understand your point, and it's well..
- 31:11Speaker 13: No, no, no.
- 31:12Speaker 2: J.J., this guy sitting in here in the studio... He's
- 31:15Speaker 2: a paranoid nut, believe me when I tell you.
- 31:18Speaker 4: Don't believe him, JJ.
- 31:20Speaker 2: His lips are moving.
- 31:21Speaker 4: You know what's happening.
- 31:22Speaker 9: I think we've got bigger fish to fry kind of thing.
- 31:25Speaker 9: But I do understand everybody's point. But, you know, I
- 31:27Speaker 9: just said, you know, me being the criminal I am,
- 31:31Speaker 9: I always got to keep a little profile.
- 31:33Speaker 2: You better be careful because your fan base could show
- 31:35Speaker 2: up at 5 o'clock to see.
- 31:37Speaker 3: So you would meet you and your dog.
- 31:38Speaker 9: They're going to come up and lynch me. That's what
- 31:39Speaker 9: they're doing. They're preparing right now to set up the,
- 31:42Speaker 9: what is that called? The hangin'.
- 31:44Speaker 2: So if you see a skinny guy with gray hair,
- 31:50Speaker 2: then that's JJ. With his dog. What's your dog's name again?
- 31:54Speaker 4: Killer.
- 31:54Speaker 3: Isn't it Killer?
- 31:55Speaker 2: Isn't your dog called?
- 31:56Speaker 10: Chance.
- 31:56Speaker 9: Chance.
- 31:57Speaker 2: Chance.
- 31:58Speaker 9: Because I took a chance on him.
- 31:59Speaker 3: Oh, I see how it goes.
- 32:01Speaker 4: You know, that's what Ron's wife calls him. How about that?
- 32:05Speaker 2: Right. She took a chance on me. She took a
- 32:07Speaker 2: chance on me. Right.
- 32:09Speaker 4: All right.
- 32:10Speaker 2: Thank you, JJ.
- 32:10Speaker 9: All right, I'll let you go. Enough of me.
- 32:13Speaker 2: Enough of you.
- 32:13Speaker 3: All right.
- 32:16Speaker 2: You're a paranoid nut. Not JJ. JJ's a loving man,
- 32:20Speaker 2: getting his dog.
- 32:22Speaker 4: That's a great thing to take care of.
- 32:24Speaker 3: You're on the air.
- 32:26Speaker 7: Well, I'm not going to argue about your stance or
- 32:29Speaker 7: point of view, but I've been talking about these flock
- 32:32Speaker 7: cameras for a while now. They don't stop any crime, Ron.
- 32:37Speaker 2: They capture criminals. It can be a deterrent, but it
- 32:41Speaker 2: certainly is an effective tool of the police department to
- 32:44Speaker 2: be more efficient.
- 32:46Speaker 7: Well, that's only if you commit a crime and then
- 32:49Speaker 7: drive down the street where the flock camera currently is.
- 32:51Speaker 3: That's correct.
- 32:53Speaker 7: You can look at the map of where all the
- 32:54Speaker 7: flock cameras are. You know, you could go online. You
- 32:57Speaker 7: could see it looks like Mahoning County is chickenpox.
- 33:00Speaker 2: Well, we only have six. I wish we'd get 16
- 33:03Speaker 2: in Austintown. I mean, I would like to see more
- 33:05Speaker 2: of them.
- 33:07Speaker 7: If you drive, if you leave your, you know how
- 33:10Speaker 7: many you go by just before you get on 680
- 33:13Speaker 7: from your studio there?
- 33:15Speaker 2: Well, I'm in Boardman. Right.
- 33:18Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 33:18Speaker 7: If you go down Tiffany... you'll hit two before you
- 33:22Speaker 7: even get on the 680. And they don't, like I said,
- 33:27Speaker 7: they don't stop crime. They only, you know, if you're
- 33:30Speaker 7: a criminal, what do you do? Say, hey, guys, before
- 33:32Speaker 7: we go commit this crime, let's make sure, oh, we
- 33:34Speaker 7: can't do it. There's a flock camera going to watch us.
- 33:38Speaker 3: But you know that it works.
- 33:40Speaker 2: You know that it helps apprehend them because we've had
- 33:42Speaker 2: it done locally with communities that have it.
- 33:47Speaker 7: So you're talking about, you know, helping the police. OK,
- 33:49Speaker 7: that's nice.
- 33:50Speaker 10: But I mean, at what end?
- 33:52Speaker 7: You know, it's like you've ever heard the phrase like
- 33:53Speaker 7: the camel's nose under the tent. At what point do
- 33:56Speaker 7: we start saying, oh, well, we've got six of them
- 33:59Speaker 7: in Austin. What happens when there's 600? And then we
- 34:01Speaker 7: start looking like China. And then what if they were
- 34:04Speaker 7: around during COVID in 2020? Oh, by the way, if
- 34:07Speaker 7: you leave your house. We'll know because we have the
- 34:10Speaker 7: 600 flock cameras around. What happens during the next pandemic?
- 34:13Speaker 4: Well, this guy needs a bell. Ding him a bell.
- 34:15Speaker 2: No, see, here's the problem. We're right back to the
- 34:18Speaker 2: what ifs. What if this? What if that? But if
- 34:22Speaker 2: I say to you, I'm here to deal with the
- 34:24Speaker 2: right nows. The right now is it does help capture criminals.
- 34:30Speaker 2: It does capture people that are breaking the law in
- 34:33Speaker 2: your community and committing crimes in your community, making your
- 34:36Speaker 2: community safer.
- 34:37Speaker 3: That is what it does. Who told you that?
- 34:40Speaker 2: There's regulation on it.
- 34:43Speaker 7: You are focusing on this one percent.
- 34:49Speaker 2: I am focusing on the following. I'm focusing on how
- 34:53Speaker 2: flock cameras are used, what the reality is, and what
- 34:56Speaker 2: the guardrails are. And I even bring to your attention
- 35:01Speaker 2: when the leads computer or flock cameras are ever abused
- 35:05Speaker 2: by officers, what the ramifications of that happen to be
- 35:08Speaker 2: as well.
- 35:09Speaker 3: So I got all of those examples.
- 35:11Speaker 7: Just like the criminals, only if they're caught with the
- 35:13Speaker 7: flock cameras, only if the police officer is caught misusing
- 35:17Speaker 7: the flock cameras, only if whoever has access to the
- 35:20Speaker 7: flock cameras... Have you really dug into what the flock cameras,
- 35:23Speaker 7: you keep harping on the license plate, but you don't understand,
- 35:27Speaker 7: it records everything in that field of view. Everything.
- 35:32Speaker 2: It does not do facial recognition. It takes a picture
- 35:36Speaker 2: of your license plate.
- 35:38Speaker 7: No, it takes a picture of everything. It records, and again,
- 35:43Speaker 7: you're taking this one single company's word and for what
- 35:46Speaker 7: they're saying they're doing with their information.
- 35:49Speaker 3: I know what they do. I do know what's going
- 35:52Speaker 3: on with them.
- 35:53Speaker 7: And you have access to the flock camera database and
- 35:56Speaker 7: their lines of code to.
- 35:57Speaker 3: Understand that they're doing anything? I don't have that information.
- 36:00Speaker 2: You know, Ron, I would expect you to have a little.
- 36:02Speaker 7: Bit more skepticism in this mass.
- 36:04Speaker 2: Surveillance that we are in. Absolutely.
- 36:05Speaker 6: No.
- 36:07Speaker 2: I am not a paranoid nut. I got a paranoid
- 36:11Speaker 2: nut here.
- 36:11Speaker 5: You don't have to be a paranoid nut. All you
- 36:13Speaker 5: got to do is remember the Patriot Act. They told
- 36:15Speaker 5: us it was great for us. It's going to be great.
- 36:18Speaker 5: Don't worry about anything.
- 36:19Speaker 2: I'm going to have a safer community. Because of fly cameras.
- 36:23Speaker 3: Yes, I am.
- 36:24Speaker 2: It doesn't stop crime.
- 36:26Speaker 7: It doesn't stop any crime. Have you seen any data
- 36:29Speaker 7: that has come out yet to show the precipitous drop
- 36:32Speaker 7: in crimes where these cameras are located?
- 36:36Speaker 3: Does it help capture the criminal?
- 36:39Speaker 7: You will never find.
- 36:40Speaker 2: Does it help capture the criminal?
- 36:43Speaker 7: These cameras in affluent neighborhoods.
- 36:46Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 36:47Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 36:48Speaker 2: I would think that they would be at main intersections,
- 36:52Speaker 2: but it depends. Wait a minute now. They're in the
- 36:54Speaker 2: city of Canfield. That whole community is.
- 36:57Speaker 3: In a fluent neighborhood.
- 36:59Speaker 10: Where?
- 36:59Speaker 2: They're in Canfield.
- 37:01Speaker 7: Where?
- 37:02Speaker 2: They've got 15 or 16 of them in Canfield.
- 37:05Speaker 7: Right down Route 224.
- 37:07Speaker 2: I don't know where they are.
- 37:08Speaker 10: They haven't told me where they are.
- 37:10Speaker 2: Well, you're not going to put a flock..
- 37:12Speaker 7: Look at a map of Manhattan and all the flock cameras.
- 37:15Speaker 3: I don't live in Manhattan.
- 37:16Speaker 2: I live in Austintown, Ohio, and I'm glad we have
- 37:19Speaker 2: flock cameras to catch criminals.
- 37:22Speaker 7: You can't argue heads you win, tails I lose.
- 37:25Speaker 3: Yes, I can.
- 37:26Speaker 7: You've got to look at this from a wider field
- 37:28Speaker 7: of view, 30,000 feet.
- 37:29Speaker 2: I'm not going to look like a paranoid. Go look
- 37:32Speaker 2: at a map of Manhattan.
- 37:35Speaker 7: And see where the flock cameras are at and see
- 37:37Speaker 7: the big square where they're not at. It's a one-wealthy
- 37:41Speaker 7: neighborhood on the east side of Manhattan. Because those people
- 37:44Speaker 7: don't want them there. Now, do you think those people,
- 37:47Speaker 7: the rich people, don't want crime there?
- 37:48Speaker 2: The richest people in this community.
- 37:50Speaker 10: They don't want to.
- 37:52Speaker 2: Be followed and tracked. Sir, the richest people in this
- 37:55Speaker 2: community live in Canfield.
- 37:57Speaker 3: Believe me.
- 37:58Speaker 2: You know that and I know that. If you're wealthy
- 38:01Speaker 2: in Mahoning County, you live in Canfield. And they have
- 38:04Speaker 2: more flocked cameras in Canfield. They're there in Canfield watching
- 38:11Speaker 2: your every move if you're a criminal.
- 38:13Speaker 5: Can I ask you a question? How many cameras do
- 38:17Speaker 5: you think will be acceptable?
- 38:20Speaker 2: Oh, we're only getting six. I wish we would have..
- 38:24Speaker 3: Let's see.
- 38:25Speaker 4: One on every street corner?
- 38:26Speaker 2: No, I wish we would have them on all the
- 38:28Speaker 2: major streets. Every major street.
- 38:31Speaker 4: So we're going to be in many Chinese.
- 38:33Speaker 3: I think you need..
- 38:34Speaker 10: Do you leave your blinds open at night?
- 38:36Speaker 3: As a matter of fact, I do. But a lot
- 38:37Speaker 3: of times..
- 38:38Speaker 4: You don't want to look.
- 38:39Speaker 2: A lot of times it upsets the neighbors. A lot
- 38:42Speaker 2: of the neighbors laugh.
- 38:43Speaker 7: If your neighbors look inside your house, that's what you're doing.
- 38:46Speaker 2: As long as you're not committing a crime. Here's the reality.
- 38:49Speaker 2: I do leave them open, but I want you to
- 38:51Speaker 2: know I have the air conditioning on, and it's very cold, okay?
- 38:55Speaker 2: It's just very cold.
- 38:56Speaker 4: If you want to take a picture, you need a
- 38:57Speaker 4: telescopic lens.
- 38:59Speaker 3: Okay, it's cold.
- 39:00Speaker 7: No, I hear the undertones of why you want these.
- 39:04Speaker 6: Yes.
- 39:04Speaker 10: I hear it. I'm not going to go— I would
- 39:07Speaker 10: be— let me put it this way to you.
- 39:08Speaker 7: It's good for radio, but this is— you' ll be the first— and
- 39:11Speaker 7: you know what? Time will tell. Like most things, time
- 39:13Speaker 7: will tell.
- 39:14Speaker 10: And then I.
- 39:15Speaker 7: Hope, you know, it's not too long from now.
- 39:17Speaker 3: Here, I just got word.
- 39:17Speaker 7: I'll have to look back.
- 39:19Speaker 2: Tell Alec that they're at every entry point in Canfield,
- 39:22Speaker 2: the flock cameras.
- 39:24Speaker 3: So there you go.
- 39:24Speaker 2: Now, I would want a flock camera. You asked me
- 39:26Speaker 2: where I would want them. I would want them down
- 39:28Speaker 2: Mahoning Avenue.
- 39:30Speaker 3: Bear with me.
- 39:30Speaker 2: Several of them on Mahoning Avenue. I would want them
- 39:33Speaker 2: on Route 46. I would want them on Kirk Road.
- 39:37Speaker 2: I would want them on Raccoon Road. I would want
- 39:43Speaker 2: them on New Road. Mm-hmm. I would want them on
- 39:47Speaker 2: my street on which I live because– Your road. Yeah,
- 39:51Speaker 2: because people driving by my house all the time.
- 39:54Speaker 10: Growing eggs.
- 39:55Speaker 2: Right, right. Like my wife says she feels she's on display.
- 39:59Speaker 2: So I would like that. I would like one on
- 40:01Speaker 2: the street on which I live. How's that? But no,
- 40:05Speaker 2: I mean I'm perfectly comfortable with it.
- 40:08Speaker 5: Would you be comfortable with it if they take it
- 40:09Speaker 5: to the next step and go face recognition on it?
- 40:14Speaker 7: Or admit that that's what they might already be doing.
- 40:16Speaker 4: I mean, this is the beginning, the entry stage.
- 40:19Speaker 2: When I go to the airport, I have to get
- 40:21Speaker 2: my license and stand in front of a camera. There's
- 40:23Speaker 2: got to be some facial recognition. Well, you can opt
- 40:24Speaker 2: out of that.
- 40:25Speaker 3: No, I can't.
- 40:25Speaker 2: I can't get on a plane without opting.
- 40:27Speaker 10: No, I can't.
- 40:28Speaker 3: They make me do it.
- 40:29Speaker 10: No.
- 40:29Speaker 4: Yeah, they do. No, they don't.
- 40:30Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 40:31Speaker 10: Nope. Nope.
- 40:32Speaker 7: See, that's what they want you to think, since everybody else.
- 40:37Speaker 10: Is doing it.
- 40:37Speaker 3: No, I don't want to.
- 40:38Speaker 2: Brag to you. I don't want to brag to you, Alec,
- 40:40Speaker 2: but I want you to hear this. I'm TSA pre-check.
- 40:43Speaker 2: I don't know if you know that. Really? It's a
- 40:45Speaker 2: special category.
- 40:46Speaker 4: Yeah, you pay for that.
- 40:49Speaker 2: You're not special. And guess what? Okay, so I paid
- 40:52Speaker 2: for it. I still got to stand in front of
- 40:55Speaker 2: the camera.
- 40:56Speaker 7: Yeah, no, you can stand in front of the camera,
- 40:58Speaker 7: but when you go up there, you say, I don't
- 41:00Speaker 7: want the facial recognition, and then they say, okay.
- 41:03Speaker 2: Thank you, sir. Have you ever done it?
- 41:05Speaker 10: Yes.
- 41:06Speaker 7: That's what they want you to think, because you see
- 41:08Speaker 7: everybody else doing it, so you figure, I'll.
- 41:10Speaker 3: Do it, too.
- 41:11Speaker 2: I want to see you at the airport do it.
- 41:12Speaker 2: I bet if you do that at the airport, they'll say,
- 41:15Speaker 2: you stand over there. You go over there, young man.
- 41:18Speaker 7: The PSA agent will salute you and say, thank you
- 41:21Speaker 7: for being a patriot.
- 41:22Speaker 3: No, he wouldn't.
- 41:22Speaker 4: Okay, caller, was the Patriot Act a violation of your rights?
- 41:26Speaker 3: We're not talking about the Patriot Act.
- 41:27Speaker 4: No, I'm not going to make your point here.
- 41:29Speaker 2: No, you're confusing.
- 41:30Speaker 4: How do I shut you off here?
- 41:32Speaker 3: There is no shutting me off.
- 41:34Speaker 4: Go ahead, Colin.
- 41:35Speaker 7: Well, if you give up your privacy for freedom, you'll
- 41:38Speaker 7: have neither.
- 41:39Speaker 2: I am not giving it up.
- 41:40Speaker 4: Thank you.
- 41:41Speaker 3: I am having a say.
- 41:42Speaker 5: And did they tell us when they brought the Patriot Act,
- 41:44Speaker 5: did they tell us that this was, there's nothing to
- 41:46Speaker 5: worry about, we're going to capture terrorists?
- 41:48Speaker 3: That's all you have is the Patriot Act.
- 41:51Speaker 2: That's all we have? Yeah, we've had flock cameras for
- 41:54Speaker 2: a long time. None of these problems. That's because nobody
- 41:58Speaker 2: blew a whistle on it yet.
- 41:59Speaker 4: We wouldn't have a Patriot Act problem if it wasn't
- 42:02Speaker 4: for Snowden.
- 42:03Speaker 3: It's not reality. What about this? What about that?
- 42:06Speaker 2: You know what? In every patrol car now, do you
- 42:09Speaker 2: think a patrol car should have a computer in it, Alec?
- 42:12Speaker 2: Do you think the cops should be able to run
- 42:13Speaker 2: the license plate of your car? I'll be right back
- 42:17Speaker 2: after this.
- 42:19Speaker 3: Well, they run it even if you're not.
- 42:26Speaker 1: News Radio 570 WKBN.
- 42:31Speaker 3: News Radio 570 WKBN. You're on here.
- 42:37Speaker 10: Hello?
- 42:38Speaker 4: Yes.
- 42:39Speaker 14: It's Christine Oliver.
- 42:40Speaker 12: How are you?
- 42:41Speaker 2: Hi, Christine Oliver.
- 42:42Speaker 3: I'm okay. Go ahead with your thoughts, please.
- 42:45Speaker 14: On the flock cameras. Having a husband who retired from
- 42:50Speaker 14: 27 years of law enforcement, I specifically asked him about
- 42:53Speaker 14: this topic. And he said it only records license plates.
- 42:58Speaker 14: And one thing I agree with. If my child was
- 43:00Speaker 14: taken or if we had an elderly person, say with dementia,
- 43:04Speaker 14: you know, disappears, wanders off, those flock cameras are wonderful
- 43:08Speaker 14: for that reason, for another tool for our law enforcement.
- 43:11Speaker 14: But he also reminded me about our neighbor's house that
- 43:13Speaker 14: was broken into up the street about a year ago,
- 43:16Speaker 14: and we didn't pick anything up on our ring camera.
- 43:19Speaker 14: It was the flock camera that solved that case.
- 43:23Speaker 3: I'll repeat that. I want to make sure our listeners
- 43:25Speaker 3: hear that. Say that again, please.
- 43:27Speaker 14: So our neighbor's home was broken into up the street.
- 43:30Speaker 14: And they came around door to door trying to see
- 43:32Speaker 14: if any of our ring cameras had picked up anything.
- 43:35Speaker 14: And our ring camera didn't pick up anything. It was
- 43:38Speaker 14: the flock camera that solved the case and found the
- 43:41Speaker 14: people that broke into the neighbor's house. And I'm sure
- 43:43Speaker 14: they were very grateful. And that gets a criminal caught.
- 43:46Speaker 14: And I'm all for that.
- 43:49Speaker 3: I am too.
- 43:50Speaker 2: Because all I'm hearing is from some paranoid nuts, the
- 43:53Speaker 2: what if, and what about this, what about that.
- 43:56Speaker 3: That's all speculation.
- 43:57Speaker 2: It's merely a tool for police to do their job
- 44:01Speaker 2: more efficiently and to keep your community safer. Period. Yes.
- 44:05Speaker 14: I'm all about the police, as you know, and I'm
- 44:07Speaker 14: all about keeping our communities safe.
- 44:10Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 44:10Speaker 3: You've always had those events for years. All right, Christine.
- 44:14Speaker 3: Thank you. I got to go.
- 44:15Speaker 14: You're welcome.
- 44:16Speaker 8: Bye-bye.
- 44:16Speaker 3: You're on the air.
- 44:17Speaker 2: Hello.
- 44:19Speaker 13: Hi, Ron. I've been driving a truck for quite a
- 44:23Speaker 13: while now. Every time we get on the turnpike, they
- 44:26Speaker 13: have cameras that take a picture of the license plate.
- 44:29Speaker 13: They take a picture of your face. If you're not
- 44:32Speaker 13: wearing glasses on your driver's license, it says you're supposed
- 44:36Speaker 13: to be wearing glasses. They'll let you know about that.
- 44:39Speaker 13: It's a violation.
- 44:43Speaker 2: Now, how about if you're not wearing pants?
- 44:48Speaker 13: Well, they can't see that.
- 44:50Speaker 2: Well, maybe.
- 44:51Speaker 10: In any event.
- 44:52Speaker 2: Maybe in your case.
- 44:55Speaker 13: And I'm sure there's drivers that run down the road
- 44:57Speaker 13: naked driving. You know, it's none of my business. But
- 45:04Speaker 13: as far as having a view on the flock camera,
- 45:07Speaker 13: who's paying for those?
- 45:10Speaker 3: What, the flock camera?
- 45:12Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 45:13Speaker 3: I would imagine your community is.
- 45:17Speaker 13: Did they vote it in or did somebody just decide
- 45:19Speaker 13: to do it?
- 45:19Speaker 3: Stand by. Hang on, okay? Just stand by. I'll come
- 45:22Speaker 3: right back to you after this. Mike Rowe here with
- 45:26Speaker 3: a random fact.
- 45:27Speaker 6: More than half of the homes that have basements in
- 45:29Speaker 6: North America will experience water damage.
- 45:32Speaker 4: It's true.
- 45:33Speaker 6: Whether it's basement moisture, flooding, or bowing walls, do yourself
- 45:37Speaker 6: a favor and call a Groundworks company. I spent some
- 45:39Speaker 6: time working with these guys. They're the real deal. Their
- 45:42Speaker 6: people are trained and certified to waterproof your basement and
- 45:45Speaker 6: stabilize your walls. Schedule a free inspection with Ohio Basement Authority.
