- 0:00Speaker 1: First, a word from our sponsors. If you are in
- 0:02Speaker 1: the XRP community and you're not paying attention to RLUSD,
- 0:06Speaker 1: you need to be. Ripple just launched their regulated US
- 0:09Speaker 1: dollar stable coin. This is a one to one backed
- 0:12Speaker 1: and it runs natively on the XRP ledger. Okx is
- 0:17Speaker 1: the best place that you can trade this. More importantly,
- 0:20Speaker 1: okx has the RLUSD, a XRP trading pair that is
- 0:24Speaker 1: the one that this community has been waiting for, and
- 0:27Speaker 1: it is here. If you're brand new to okx, they've
- 0:30Speaker 1: got a new member offer for you up to three
- 0:32Speaker 1: hundred bucks link down below. Terms do apply. Take a look.
- 0:38Speaker 1: Welcome back in to another episode here from the XRP
- 0:41Speaker 1: Las Vegas event, and today's going to be a good
- 0:44Speaker 1: one because I've got Hugo coming in from Flair and
- 0:46Speaker 1: of course we've been on with you many times, Hugo.
- 0:51Speaker 1: A lot is happening here at this I mean, as
- 0:53Speaker 1: we're recording this, we're looking across a sea of people
- 0:56Speaker 1: right now, all of which hold XRP.
- 0:59Speaker 2: YEP.
- 1:00Speaker 1: Flare, of course, is one of the cornerstones of the
- 1:03Speaker 1: XRP ecosystem. Now, so talk to me a little bit
- 1:06Speaker 1: about what you guys have been doing this year that
- 1:08Speaker 1: has separated you from.
- 1:09Speaker 3: The pack absolutely, so you know, I guess for those
- 1:12Speaker 3: that don't know, Flare is a layer one blockchain that
- 1:14Speaker 3: build around data, build around data, so we could do
- 1:18Speaker 3: more with you know, non smart contract tokens like XORP,
- 1:21Speaker 3: which is you know, really our primary goal is to
- 1:25Speaker 3: develop an exit, very large DeFi market for XORP. That's
- 1:31Speaker 3: our primary function, and then we'll be branching out to
- 1:34Speaker 3: other non small contract tokens when we feel that we've
- 1:38Speaker 3: established that market sufficiently that you know, it's self sustaining.
- 1:42Speaker 3: So in the last year, we started in September, let's say,
- 1:45Speaker 3: September twenty twenty five, we launched f XRP. We've been
- 1:49Speaker 3: alive for a couple of years before that, but we've
- 1:51Speaker 3: been testing systems, we've been building. It takes a while,
- 1:55Speaker 3: especially when you know when you look at the rest
- 1:57Speaker 3: of the ecosystem.
- 2:00Speaker 2: We're always very.
- 2:01Speaker 3: Happy that takes us a long time to build things
- 2:03Speaker 3: because we take security absolutely first and foremost. Absolutely not
- 2:08Speaker 3: only are the designs of our technologies radically different to
- 2:13Speaker 3: how pretty much anyone else does it, which means we
- 2:15Speaker 3: think that those designs are more sophisticated and more safe,
- 2:19Speaker 3: but we test a lot, We test.
- 2:21Speaker 2: A huge amount.
- 2:22Speaker 3: So we start in September twenty twenty five with FXORP.
- 2:25Speaker 3: That was the first time FXRP could be created. We've
- 2:30Speaker 3: established a sizable DeFi ecosystem. We have one hundred and
- 2:33Speaker 3: fifty five million units of XRP on Flare, a full
- 2:37Speaker 3: DeFi ecosystem of about four hundred and fifty million dollars.
- 2:41Speaker 3: We partnered with Centaura to build Firelight.
- 2:45Speaker 2: Seed funded that.
- 2:46Speaker 3: Firelight is the first major, I think viable insurance protocol
- 2:51Speaker 3: for DeFi in the space, and it uses XP as
- 2:53Speaker 3: the collateral asset. We've bought on Morpho, which is a
- 2:58Speaker 3: very institutional focus.
- 2:59Speaker 1: How is that conected now with more folks, that's something new.
- 3:02Speaker 3: So we've bought more FO onto Flare, through the through
- 3:06Speaker 3: Mystic and they are really an institutionally focused lending protocol,
- 3:11Speaker 3: very different risk structure, very much lower risk structure to
- 3:14Speaker 3: different types of lending protocol.
- 3:16Speaker 2: The more OG lending.
- 3:17Speaker 3: Protocols isolated sort of more secure and vult capable, so
- 3:23Speaker 3: you know, you can effectively people could create volts that
- 3:25Speaker 3: interact with Morpho and this is a great abstraction for users, so.
- 3:28Speaker 2: We bought MOREPHO on. We've been developing that market.
- 3:32Speaker 3: We have got FXRP on modible chains, each maina monad
- 3:38Speaker 3: I think base. You know, we are making FXRP the
- 3:41Speaker 3: standard across the entire DeFi ecosystem.
- 3:45Speaker 2: We created FLAIR Smart.
- 3:46Speaker 3: Accounts, which allows you to control your FXRP directly from
- 3:50Speaker 3: the XRP ledger by broadcasting a transaction on the XRP ledger.
- 3:54Speaker 3: And the next version of FXRP v one point three
- 3:57Speaker 3: will allow you to mint FXRP directly from an exchange
- 4:01Speaker 3: and we don't need exchanges.
- 4:03Speaker 2: To partner with us on that.
- 4:04Speaker 3: That functionality comes from the withdrawal functionality on an exchange,
- 4:08Speaker 3: so you'll be able to withdraw to flat rather than
- 4:10Speaker 3: to the XRP len Interesting.
- 4:12Speaker 1: Okay, so is that that's fairly new.
- 4:14Speaker 2: Then that's that's coming in a couple of weeks, all.
- 4:16Speaker 1: Right, So advancements are rolling out with Flair. You look
- 4:19Speaker 1: at the ecosystem itself as you can see this this,
- 4:22Speaker 1: even though we're in a down year, one of the
- 4:24Speaker 1: biggest events that they've hailed. I think they broke their record.
- 4:27Speaker 1: This is something that I think every XRP. Hoolder here
- 4:31Speaker 1: is looking at how do I put these assets toward?
- 4:34Speaker 1: This store? Of course opens up a whole layer of opportunities.
- 4:38Speaker 1: What about scale for flare?
- 4:40Speaker 2: So there's a huge buzz around XRP.
- 4:43Speaker 3: There's been a huge buzz since the cold case was settled.
- 4:46Speaker 3: But now I think the predominant question that everyone's coming
- 4:49Speaker 3: up to me and asking is I've got my XRP.
- 4:52Speaker 3: I want it safe, I want it secure it, but
- 4:54Speaker 3: I want yield on it. Yeah, and that's what flat
- 4:55Speaker 3: off is really And we are I think, well, first
- 4:59Speaker 3: of all, with the largest ecosystem for XRP today, But
- 5:02Speaker 3: I also think we are I also think we're the best.
- 5:05Speaker 2: To be honest with you.
- 5:06Speaker 3: What does scale look like? While we're scaling slowly because
- 5:09Speaker 3: markets take a long time to establish, You've got to
- 5:12Speaker 3: bring on stables. You've got to bring on institutional partners
- 5:15Speaker 3: who prepare to lend those stables against your XRP. You've
- 5:20Speaker 3: got to make sure that everything's safe. But to scale responsibly.
- 5:24Speaker 3: We've seen people scale irresponsibly and it creates huge holes,
- 5:27Speaker 3: creates holes in the ecosystem, capital shortfalls, which you know
- 5:31Speaker 3: the DeFi ecosystem on you know, Ethereum have had to
- 5:35Speaker 3: club together and create a bailout, you know, and that's
- 5:38Speaker 3: because they don't scale responsibly. You know. We are trying
- 5:40Speaker 3: to scale as responsibly as possible with your asset, with
- 5:43Speaker 3: your money, and you know, build that out. We've extended
- 5:47Speaker 3: Flair to other ecosystems in order to be able to
- 5:49Speaker 3: get additional stable coin liquidity that can be len against
- 5:54Speaker 3: against f XRP and principally the best way to access
- 5:57Speaker 3: that is through the upshift clist our Okay, enabled to plan.
- 6:02Speaker 3: We'll be launching all the types of vault as well
- 6:04Speaker 3: in the future. Don't want to say too much about right,
- 6:07Speaker 3: all right, but it's very exciting.
- 6:09Speaker 1: Well okay, so that has been one of the things
- 6:11Speaker 1: that I think when you look at scalability of projects,
- 6:14Speaker 1: to your point, sometimes they grow too fast, bad things happen,
- 6:18Speaker 1: which we saw with the KELP dow good example. But
- 6:21Speaker 1: you look at where you guys are right now, the
- 6:24Speaker 1: onboarding of a new xrp F as app holder. What
- 6:29Speaker 1: is that going to look like in the future? Is
- 6:31Speaker 1: there for the barrier to entry is going to be
- 6:34Speaker 1: easier and easier.
- 6:35Speaker 2: I mean, you know, just go back to that scaling point.
- 6:38Speaker 3: I think Filelight is one of the protocols that I
- 6:40Speaker 3: think could scale in almost infinitely. It could probably take
- 6:44Speaker 3: up all of the XARP and exist. Yes, right, because
- 6:47Speaker 3: I think, you know, the DeFi industry is very large,
- 6:49Speaker 3: and Filight is offering broad spectrum insurance. In fact, the
- 6:52Speaker 3: more insurance they can offer, the better the yield is
- 6:55Speaker 3: and the safer the portfolio of assets in Firelight is.
- 6:58Speaker 3: So I think filights are very interesting. One of course,
- 7:01Speaker 3: we funded that, and I think in terms of the
- 7:04Speaker 3: onboarding experience, we've integrated with pretty much every wallet we
- 7:09Speaker 3: possibly can. We've created our own wallet called Lumini with
- 7:15Speaker 3: partners to make that experiences again even easier. You don't
- 7:19Speaker 3: even need a private key, you just have password. We
- 7:23Speaker 3: are allowing you to mint XRP directly from exchange. Now,
- 7:27Speaker 3: no competing XRP product can do that because they all
- 7:32Speaker 3: have a degree of centralization the FLED doesn't have, and
- 7:35Speaker 3: they have to know the minter.
- 7:37Speaker 2: They have to came and see the minter.
- 7:38Speaker 3: So something like rapt x or P offered by hext
- 7:41Speaker 3: might be an intesting might be an interesting thing. They
- 7:44Speaker 3: cannot onboard you directly from an exchange because they don't
- 7:47Speaker 3: know who you are. FXRP can so in terms of scaling,
- 7:50Speaker 3: in terms of user making it easier for the user,
- 7:54Speaker 3: all we do is try to break down those barriers.
- 7:57Speaker 2: That's why we've created Flair smart accounts.
- 7:59Speaker 1: Okay, so I know Flair, you're Flare two point zero
- 8:02Speaker 1: later this year.
- 8:03Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 8:04Speaker 1: The innovations that you'll see in not only D five,
- 8:07Speaker 1: but what we'll see in terms of yield bearing instruments,
- 8:10Speaker 1: like what you guys have done with the FSTs. What
- 8:14Speaker 1: does that look like in twelve months a year from now.
- 8:16Speaker 2: Well, you know, we're creating.
- 8:19Speaker 3: Flat two point zero, which is effectively what we're calling
- 8:22Speaker 3: Flag Confidential Compute, And this is a scalability layer on
- 8:25Speaker 3: top of Flare. Not only for scalability, I eat many
- 8:28Speaker 3: more computations much more cheaply, but also for privacy and
- 8:33Speaker 3: for being able to keep secrets like private keys.
- 8:36Speaker 1: Will that open up institutional more so?
- 8:38Speaker 3: That'll open up a number of things. First of all,
- 8:40Speaker 3: you get to create a protocol on Flare that can control,
- 8:44Speaker 3: using decentralized inputs, assets.
- 8:46Speaker 2: On other chains.
- 8:47Speaker 3: So unlike having to go to a multi sick you
- 8:51Speaker 3: can control Bitcoin, you can control XRP control ethereum on
- 8:55Speaker 3: other chains from a single protocol and FLAP. So that
- 8:58Speaker 3: may be institutional, but it may to just be a
- 9:00Speaker 3: total you know, game changer for what people can build.
- 9:03Speaker 3: But when it comes to privacy, that's where privacy that
- 9:06Speaker 3: is offered by flair confidential Compute, that's where I think
- 9:10Speaker 3: that becomes very institutional because you know, real world assets
- 9:14Speaker 3: and you know large financial indities. They don't want everyone
- 9:18Speaker 3: to know what they're doing, and so, you know, I
- 9:21Speaker 3: think there's a really nice story. As r WA's are
- 9:25Speaker 3: issued on the xop ledger, where the x where the
- 9:28Speaker 3: xop ledger cannot serve all of the needs of its
- 9:31Speaker 3: institutional clients, protocols can be built in Flair's confidential compute
- 9:37Speaker 3: that allows those RWA's to be utilized, to be traded,
- 9:41Speaker 3: to be lent against, to be used as collateral. Again,
- 9:46Speaker 3: protocols that the xop ledger can't currently enable, you know,
- 9:51Speaker 3: can be enabled through confidential compute FLARE.
- 9:54Speaker 1: So with the privacy side, this of course is the
- 9:59Speaker 1: challenge I think that all institutional capital is concerned about,
- 10:02Speaker 1: especially at this scale that we're talking about moving into
- 10:05Speaker 1: light speed really with these new instruments. Canton has been
- 10:09Speaker 1: out there kind of scouting that absolutely okay, and they
- 10:15Speaker 1: have locked it in for institutional to institutional. Is Flair
- 10:19Speaker 1: opening that up?
- 10:20Speaker 3: So I think Flair is interested in institutional to institutional
- 10:23Speaker 3: and institutional to retail. Okay, So you know, and also again,
- 10:27Speaker 3: like everything, banks and institutions are not going to let
- 10:30Speaker 3: one chain win it all because that then replaces them. Yes, right,
- 10:34Speaker 3: so you know, I think you know, XORP Ledgers doing
- 10:38Speaker 3: really well in rwations. It went above Solona. I think
- 10:41Speaker 3: it's like number two or three in terms of total
- 10:43Speaker 3: WA's and so I think I don't think this is
- 10:46Speaker 3: going to be again a winner. Everyone always wants to
- 10:48Speaker 3: find a winner. Take Hooles in position. I think XORP
- 10:51Speaker 3: Ledger is going to be very successful with our WA issuance.
- 10:54Speaker 3: Why because XORP Ledger has better distribution in the US,
- 11:00Speaker 3: in career, in Japan or than any other chain. And
- 11:03Speaker 3: so if you're an asset issuer, if you are an
- 11:06Speaker 3: institution and you want distribution, XRP Lazer is a great
- 11:10Speaker 3: place to do that allow and what Flair can then
- 11:12Speaker 3: offer is further you further functionality on top of that.
- 11:16Speaker 1: This is going to be an exciting time I think
- 11:19Speaker 1: for digital assets in general, especially as we start to
- 11:22Speaker 1: see these kinds of instruments go live. So it's gonna
- 11:24Speaker 1: be a good one. We will of course be covering
- 11:26Speaker 1: this and much more. We'll get you go back on
- 11:28Speaker 1: the pod soon, so hugo. Thanks for coming in today.
- 11:31Speaker 2: Of course we have a session tomorrow. Yes, we did
- 11:33Speaker 2: look forward to the change.
- 11:35Speaker 1: Yeah, it's gonna be amazing. All right, you guys know
- 11:37Speaker 1: what to do. We will catch you guys later. If
