- 0:00Speaker 1: Fly from Midtown Manhattan.
- 0:03Speaker 2: Here comes the Mark Simone show on seven or well,
- 0:09Speaker 2: hey it's Friday.
- 0:10Speaker 3: A lot of stuff to get to. There's these fake news,
- 0:13Speaker 3: it's really cranked it up, faking fake, faked stories. There's
- 0:17Speaker 3: a fake story out there about ice detained a five
- 0:19Speaker 3: year old child. We'll get to that. We'll get to
- 0:22Speaker 3: the Jack Smith hearings. We'll get to how do you
- 0:27Speaker 3: say this, I can never know his name, Mackmood Khalid
- 0:30Speaker 3: has been thrown out of the country. Get to that.
- 0:31Speaker 3: We'll get to Davos, Ukraine. Putin there's news. We'll get
- 0:36Speaker 3: to Greenland and more. Now, as far as the storm,
- 0:40Speaker 3: this is the first real, big, huge test of Mam
- 0:45Speaker 3: Donnie as mayor. This has happened in the past where
- 0:48Speaker 3: a new mayor came in I think with Lindsay and
- 0:52Speaker 3: as soon as he got there a major snowstorm and
- 0:54Speaker 3: he was unable to get the streets cleared, especially in
- 0:56Speaker 3: the outer boroughs, and it really hurt him. So we'll
- 1:00Speaker 3: see Mom Donnie has already got he's doing these press
- 1:03Speaker 3: conferences where he puts on the snow jacket, you know,
- 1:05Speaker 3: the you know that field jacket, that windbreaker thing where
- 1:10Speaker 3: it says mayor on it. It's got a big logo
- 1:12Speaker 3: on the side. So now here's the good news. This
- 1:16Speaker 3: kind of stuff is usually handled by the director of
- 1:20Speaker 3: emergency Management. That's who's going to do this well. Luckily,
- 1:25Speaker 3: the director of Emerging Emergency Management, who's been there for years,
- 1:28Speaker 3: he is leaving. He gave his resignation, but he's got
- 1:31Speaker 3: two weeks left so he'll be there for this storm,
- 1:34Speaker 3: so he'll be handling it. And the team under him
- 1:37Speaker 3: is deputy emergency management. People are all pretty good, so
- 1:43Speaker 3: that's a good sign. Mam Donnie knows it's a big test,
- 1:45Speaker 3: so he'll rely on them. Let them do what they
- 1:47Speaker 3: have to do. The storm will start overnight Saturday, could
- 1:52Speaker 3: be as early as one am. Looks more now like
- 1:55Speaker 3: four am. The snow will start Saturday night four am
- 1:59Speaker 3: into Someday morning. It will snow all day Sunday. It
- 2:03Speaker 3: will not stop. Continuous snow all day Sunday Sunday night.
- 2:08Speaker 3: It'll end Monday morning. You might get a little return
- 2:13Speaker 3: to snows a couple of times in the afternoon. When
- 2:16Speaker 3: it's all over, it could be four to twelve inches.
- 2:19Speaker 3: There's about six different models you could use on this
- 2:23Speaker 3: that show every range from four to six four to
- 2:26Speaker 3: twelve most likely, six to eight inches most likely. And
- 2:32Speaker 3: now as far as school on Monday, I don't know.
- 2:34Speaker 3: Here in New York City, Director of Emergency Management says,
- 2:38Speaker 3: no decision has been made on school on Monday. They'll
- 2:41Speaker 3: make that decision over the weekend, and if they do
- 2:44Speaker 3: have to cancel school on Monday, it's not like the
- 2:48Speaker 3: good old days where when you had a snow day,
- 2:50Speaker 3: you had a snow day, you had a snow day,
- 2:53Speaker 3: you got to stay at home and watch game shows
- 2:55Speaker 3: on TV and that sort of stuff, and you got
- 2:58Speaker 3: to see the price is right that kind of stuff.
- 3:02Speaker 3: But nowadays, when there's a snow day, they go to
- 3:04Speaker 3: remote learning. They're gonna expect students to do the remote
- 3:08Speaker 3: learning like they did during the pandemic. Director of Emergency
- 3:11Speaker 3: Management says they are preparing for that, which means they
- 3:15Speaker 3: have to make sure that the server space and the
- 3:18Speaker 3: power they need, storage, all that bandwidth, all that is
- 3:21Speaker 3: up to speed. So they're working on that. But figure
- 3:26Speaker 3: nobody will go to work Monday. It'll be just now
- 3:28Speaker 3: here's the other thing, the snow all day Sunday. Let's
- 3:31Speaker 3: say there's six to eight inches. It's gonna be bitterly cold.
- 3:34Speaker 3: The temperature will be like ten degrees twenty degrees. It's
- 3:38Speaker 3: not gonna melt, and it looks like the temperature will
- 3:41Speaker 3: stay way below freezing for most of the week. So
- 3:44Speaker 3: unlike other storms, there's going to be a long period
- 3:48Speaker 3: of days and days and days where the snow doesn't
- 3:50Speaker 3: go anywhere, just rock hard. And because it'll be freezing,
- 3:53Speaker 3: I got a big problem with ice, black ice, all
- 3:55Speaker 3: that kind of stuff. So most likely you'll not go
- 3:58Speaker 3: out Sunday. Sunday will be the store, Monday will be
- 4:01Speaker 3: a mess. You probably won't be able to go to
- 4:03Speaker 3: work or do anything as far as all the suburbs.
- 4:06Speaker 3: No word yet on the school closings, but it's going
- 4:08Speaker 3: to be a mess. Now, we had much bigger storms
- 4:12Speaker 3: than the snowstorms in the past. We haven't had a
- 4:15Speaker 3: big one like this in four years where we got
- 4:17Speaker 3: you know, six to eight inches. It could be me more,
- 4:19Speaker 3: but we'll see and again, sometimes it you know, it weakens,
- 4:24Speaker 3: it shifts. That's why the wide range of predictions now. Flights,
- 4:31Speaker 3: it doesn't look good. It looks like a lot of
- 4:33Speaker 3: flights may be canceled, you know, you cost your money.
- 4:35Speaker 3: You have to pay a fine or a fee to
- 4:38Speaker 3: switch flights. The airlines must of them have waived all
- 4:40Speaker 3: that you can switch your flight dates. I wouldn't be
- 4:43Speaker 3: flying anywhere on Sunday and Monday will probably be a
- 4:46Speaker 3: mess as well. So we'll see if they if they
- 4:51Speaker 3: get on top of this. The subways, the awful MPTA
- 4:57Speaker 3: director Jano Lieber saying that they're expecting it to run,
- 5:02Speaker 3: but there could be Remember the last big snowstorms, you
- 5:06Speaker 3: had some lines that had huge delay, So we'll see.
- 5:09Speaker 3: I went back. Somebody sent me this from nineteen ninety
- 5:12Speaker 3: one NBC News Jessica Savage remember her NBC Nightly News.
- 5:18Speaker 3: Whole story about global warming is so intense that by
- 5:22Speaker 3: the end of the nineties it'll be so warm we'll
- 5:25Speaker 3: never see snow again. This is all these climate change
- 5:28Speaker 3: people from way back then. Remember Al Gore's movie An
- 5:30Speaker 3: Inconvenient Truth? When was that twenty years ago? Twenty three
- 5:34Speaker 3: years ago? Get the movie al Gore's movie An Inconvenient Truth.
- 5:38Speaker 3: That's the climate change movie where he told you all
- 5:40Speaker 3: the things that were going to happen, about the glacier
- 5:43Speaker 3: melting and the beach would disappear. Watch the movie now,
- 5:47Speaker 3: it's hysterical. Every single thing he predicted never happened. In fact,
- 5:53Speaker 3: just the opposite happened. The glacier got bigger, No beach, Erosi, nothing.
- 5:59Speaker 3: Just go watch it now and you'll just laugh and
- 6:01Speaker 3: laugh and laugh. The good news. On Sunday, you're gonna
- 6:03Speaker 3: have football. You'll be stuck in all day. You got
- 6:06Speaker 3: two big games Sunday. So that helps President Trump back
- 6:13Speaker 3: from back from Switzerland, back from Davos, which he normally
- 6:18Speaker 3: hates that it's a bunch of globalists talking about climate change.
- 6:21Speaker 3: But that's all changed now. The guy that ran Davos
- 6:24Speaker 3: for years is gone left in scandal. Now it's run
- 6:27Speaker 3: by Larry Fink of a hedge fund, Blackrock. So it's
- 6:30Speaker 3: more what it's supposed to be, discussing the economy, foreign affairs,
- 6:34Speaker 3: that kind of stuff. Things between world leaders looks like,
- 6:39Speaker 3: looks like a lot of progress was made on the
- 6:42Speaker 3: Ukraine at Davos, Zelensky and Trump talked. And here's how
- 6:46Speaker 3: bad the fake news is. They never tell you what
- 6:48Speaker 3: the hell's going on. They only picked stories that fit
- 6:52Speaker 3: their narrative or that'll hurt Trump. If there's anything good.
- 6:55Speaker 3: They never tell you about it. They keep it from you.
- 6:58Speaker 3: Great stuff happened as Ukraine Putin negotiating at Davos, and
- 7:03Speaker 3: last night Steve Witkoff met with Putin for hours and
- 7:08Speaker 3: hours and hours. The meeting didn't end till three in
- 7:11Speaker 3: the morning. This may be the first you're hearing about
- 7:14Speaker 3: it because fake news will not report this because it
- 7:17Speaker 3: looks good, it looks like progress, so you'll never hear
- 7:20Speaker 3: about it. Looks like the President will stay in DC
- 7:22Speaker 3: this weekend. No mar A Lago. He is going to
- 7:25Speaker 3: Iowa next week. Now he's going to be doing this.
- 7:29Speaker 3: It'll be kind of like going on tour every week.
- 7:32Speaker 3: He'll be in a different part of the country speaking,
- 7:34Speaker 3: doing a rally. Part of the reason is they're putting
- 7:37Speaker 3: out all these fake polls about his poll numbers is
- 7:42Speaker 3: the economy. You saw a bunch of them yesterday. I
- 7:45Speaker 3: think the Wall Street journals summed them all up. But
- 7:48Speaker 3: they're all fake poles. If you look at the metrics,
- 7:50Speaker 3: totally rigged forgot to sample Republicans. It's basically they just
- 7:55Speaker 3: sampled democrats. They didn't use likely voters. They used what
- 7:58Speaker 3: they call adults, which means they can pick whoever they want.
- 8:03Speaker 3: They can go to a Harvard and do it in
- 8:05Speaker 3: the faculty lounge if they want so totally rig poles.
- 8:09Speaker 3: Why do they do it Because it's a great way
- 8:12Speaker 3: to bash Trump. You put out all these fake poles,
- 8:15Speaker 3: you get a big prestigious newspaper to print them all,
- 8:17Speaker 3: and then every network news cast, everybody can say the
- 8:20Speaker 3: President's poll numbers are disastrous. The public has turned on
- 8:24Speaker 3: it. It's a great, great way to start that lie going.
- 8:27Speaker 3: And you've been seeing major lies this week from the
- 8:31Speaker 3: fake news. There's been a story all over the place
- 8:34Speaker 3: that these evil, awful Ice people detained a five year
- 8:37Speaker 3: old and they show you the picture they're surrounding the
- 8:41Speaker 3: five year old. And this story's been all over the place.
- 8:44Speaker 3: Could anything look more cruel? These Ice agents show up
- 8:47Speaker 3: to grab a five year old, this little innocent kid
- 8:51Speaker 3: with the Ice agents. What a horrible thing. Now, this
- 8:54Speaker 3: has been all over the place, the fake news, the networks,
- 8:58Speaker 3: The New York says, all these people failed to report
- 9:02Speaker 3: the actual story. They had a warrant for an illegal alien,
- 9:06Speaker 3: a real criminal. They had a warrant to arrest him.
- 9:10Speaker 3: They went to get him. They see him there he's
- 9:12Speaker 3: with a five year old kid. That's I guess it's
- 9:15Speaker 3: his kid. Apparently it is his kid. His five year
- 9:18Speaker 3: old is with him. The guy sees the ICE agents,
- 9:21Speaker 3: he turns and runs and abandons the five year old,
- 9:25Speaker 3: just leaves him there. He runs from Ice, takes off, vanishes,
- 9:29Speaker 3: leaving the five year old. Can you imagine that. I mean,
- 9:32Speaker 3: you don't want to get arrested by ICE if you're
- 9:34Speaker 3: an illegal alien criminal, but abandoning your five year old,
- 9:37Speaker 3: so he runs off. They go chase the guy, but
- 9:40Speaker 3: of course some of the ICE agents remain to protect
- 9:42Speaker 3: the kid, and one of them is holding the kid.
- 9:46Speaker 3: Make sure the kid's okay. That's the real story. They
- 9:49Speaker 3: failed to report that. The other fake story they've been
- 9:52Speaker 3: putting out is ICE agents arrested an American citizen, an
- 9:58Speaker 3: actual full citizen, an America con citizen was arrested by ICE. Well,
- 10:03Speaker 3: they forget to tell you the rest of the story.
- 10:04Speaker 3: When Ice they had a guy who turned out it
- 10:07Speaker 3: was a citizen, but when they stopped the question and
- 10:10Speaker 3: he got into a fight and he punched the ICE
- 10:13Speaker 3: agent in the face, they forget to report that part. Now,
- 10:16Speaker 3: no matter what's going on, if you punch a law
- 10:19Speaker 3: enforcement officer in the face, you're getting arrested. Traffic stop.
- 10:23Speaker 3: But whatever it is, even if you were totally innocent
- 10:26Speaker 3: and you just got mad, you got stopped, and you
- 10:28Speaker 3: punched the officer in the face, you're getting arrested. It's
- 10:31Speaker 3: that simple. But of course, fake news just unbelievably busy
- 10:37Speaker 3: trying to hurt Trump. Hard to run a democracy when
- 10:41Speaker 3: you don't have actual media going. So Jack Smith testified yesterday.
- 10:46Speaker 3: It looked pretty bad for Jack Smith. Pretty bad. Was
- 10:51Speaker 3: a lot of people were curious why he was so nervous.
- 10:53Speaker 3: He was nervous, he was squirming. And one of the
- 10:57Speaker 3: reasons is to do the dirty stuff that he does.
- 11:01Speaker 3: The dirty work requires a lot of secrecy. And this
- 11:04Speaker 3: guy has been doing this for years. He's a hit
- 11:07Speaker 3: man who goes after political rivals, charges them like crazy,
- 11:11Speaker 3: gets them convicted of a million things. He's done it
- 11:14Speaker 3: nine other times with Republicans, and all nine times the
- 11:17Speaker 3: cases were tossed out when it went to the higher courts.
- 11:20Speaker 3: And in the case of the Virginia Governor MacDonald, the
- 11:24Speaker 3: Supreme Court throughout all the charges and wrote in the
- 11:26Speaker 3: decision this was all clearly politically motivated. That's this guy's history.
- 11:31Speaker 3: So why was he squirming and so nervous. He's not
- 11:33Speaker 3: used to operating in the spotlight. He's used to operating
- 11:37Speaker 3: in the shadows. To do what he does requires hiding
- 11:40Speaker 3: in the shadows. That's why he was so nervous. It
- 11:43Speaker 3: was funny watching his testimony. He just they had a
- 11:46Speaker 3: million things to get him on. In every case, he
- 11:48Speaker 3: just claimed he did not recall. He couldn't recall. I
- 11:51Speaker 3: don't recall. I don't remember even when they asked him.
- 11:54Speaker 3: There was some funny business went on to make him
- 11:57Speaker 3: this special prosecutor. Because if you needed a special counsel,
- 12:01Speaker 3: there's about twelve hundred guys in Washington perfectly qualified. Why
- 12:05Speaker 3: did they go halfway around the world to the Hague
- 12:08Speaker 3: to bring this guy in because he's a long time
- 12:11Speaker 3: hit man. But it was there was some suspicion about
- 12:14Speaker 3: how he got sworn in, how he got so when
- 12:16Speaker 3: they asked him about it, he claimed not to remember.
- 12:20Speaker 3: Even when they asked him when he got sworn in
- 12:22Speaker 3: or who swore him in, he claimed he didn't remember,
- 12:24Speaker 3: he couldn't recall. He then targeted all kinds of Republicans,
- 12:28Speaker 3: including the Speaker of the House. He tapped his phone.
- 12:32Speaker 3: He did surveillance on the Speaker of the House. Nobody
- 12:34Speaker 3: knows why, but to get the warrant he had to
- 12:37Speaker 3: write up a thing to the judge and they found
- 12:40Speaker 3: this and apparently in the declaration, Jack Smith said believed
- 12:46Speaker 3: the Speaker of the House might be a flight risk.
- 12:51Speaker 3: Can you imagine that it was Kevin McCarthy at the time,
- 12:53Speaker 3: He's the Speaker of the House. Smith told the judge,
- 12:57Speaker 3: he's possibly a flight risk. This is one dirty, sleazy guy.
- 13:03Speaker 3: When they went after Trump for January sixth, in the
- 13:06Speaker 3: hearings yesterday, his whole argument was that Trump kept saying
- 13:11Speaker 3: the election was rigged. It was rigged, it was rigged,
- 13:13Speaker 3: it was rigged. It was that kind of talk that
- 13:16Speaker 3: led to the protests at the Capitol and the trespassing
- 13:20Speaker 3: and all that. So a couple of senators asked him, well,
- 13:22Speaker 3: Hillary Clinton in twenty sixteen was screaming all over the
- 13:25Speaker 3: place the election was stolen, it was rigged, Russia stole it,
- 13:28Speaker 3: Trump stole it, it was rigged. How come that's not
- 13:31Speaker 3: the same thing. Smith refused to answer that question, couldn't
- 13:36Speaker 3: answer it. Hey, Trump is Donald Trump? Is forming the
- 13:39Speaker 3: Board of Peace. One of the first task is fixed
- 13:44Speaker 3: the situation in Israel, Gaza. All of that. The Board
- 13:48Speaker 3: of Peace a lot of top world leaders, business people.
- 13:53Speaker 3: Trump has been named the chairman.
- 13:54Speaker 4: This board has the chance to be one of the
- 13:56Speaker 4: most consequential bodies ever created. That's my enormous honor to
- 14:01Speaker 4: serve as its chairman. It was very honored when they
- 14:03Speaker 4: asked me to do it.
- 14:04Speaker 3: Yeah, of course it's his board, it's his board members.
- 14:09Speaker 3: That's why they asked him. But he's the perfect guy
- 14:11Speaker 3: to do it. The plan for Gaza, once you get
- 14:13Speaker 3: everything settled, is to turn it's on the water, as
- 14:18Speaker 3: Trump would say, it's waterfront property. He's a real estate guy.
- 14:21Speaker 3: This is waterfront property. He wants to turn it into
- 14:24Speaker 3: a booming metropolis with skyscrapers and everything in the world,
- 14:29Speaker 3: money everywhere, money flowing in booming economy. Thinks that'll be
- 14:34Speaker 3: the answer to this.
- 14:34Speaker 4: I'm a real estate person at hearsh and it's all
- 14:38Speaker 4: about location. And I said, look at this location on
- 14:41Speaker 4: the sea, look at this beautiful piece of property.
- 14:44Speaker 3: What it could be for so many people. It'll be
- 14:46Speaker 3: so great.
- 14:47Speaker 4: People that are living so poorly are going to be
- 14:49Speaker 4: living so well.
- 14:51Speaker 3: Yeah, Palestinians, you're gonna get a Starbucks, You're gonna get
- 14:55Speaker 3: a Chipotle. You're gonna be very happy if you play
- 14:57Speaker 3: your cards right, and in an out burger. It's going
- 14:59Speaker 3: to be quite a place. If not, maybe just a
- 15:02Speaker 3: shake shack. But now, one reason for this Board of peace.
- 15:07Speaker 3: Normally this would be the United Nations. But for about
- 15:10Speaker 3: fifty years, the United Nations has been the absolute most
- 15:13Speaker 3: useless organization. Does absolutely nothing. It's basically a VIP lounge
- 15:18Speaker 3: for dictators and communists. And Trump was asked about it, We'll.
- 15:22Speaker 4: Do it in conjunction with the United Nations. You know,
- 15:25Speaker 4: I've always said the United Nations has got tremendous potential, has.
- 15:30Speaker 3: Not used it.
- 15:31Speaker 4: But this tremendous potential in the United Nations.
- 15:35Speaker 3: Yeah, well, a little competition will be good for them. Hey. Also,
- 15:39Speaker 3: we're no longer in the World Health Organization. It's a shady, sleazy,
- 15:43Speaker 3: corrupt organization, the World Health Organization. The United States is
- 15:47Speaker 3: officially pulled out. It was basically controlled and run by
- 15:52Speaker 3: communist China. The head of it was a Marxist. It
- 15:55Speaker 3: was a bad, bad organization. So let China have it.
- 15:59Speaker 3: We'll still operate when we need to, still work with
- 16:01Speaker 3: them when we when we need to. But otherwise we're
- 16:04Speaker 3: not we're not part of it. Hey, we'll take some calls. Next.
- 16:07Speaker 3: Eight hundred three two one zero seven ten is the number.
- 16:11Speaker 3: Eight hundred three two one zero seven ten in Mark.
- 16:16Speaker 2: On Demand by setting up priest At for his podcast
- 16:20Speaker 2: on the iHeartRadio app. Now back to Mark Simone on wr.
- 16:26Speaker 3: Let's take some calls. Eight hundred three two one zero
- 16:30Speaker 3: seven ten is the number. Let's go to Bill in Pennsylvania. Bill,
- 16:33Speaker 3: how you doing?
- 16:35Speaker 5: How are you doing?
- 16:36Speaker 3: Mark?
- 16:37Speaker 6: You know I'm a longtime listener. I in fact, I
- 16:39Speaker 6: was a listener before uh, you even got on the
- 16:43Speaker 6: radio because I was driving to town taxi when you
- 16:46Speaker 6: were going to Lead School Emerson. In any case, I
- 16:49Speaker 6: got a minute.
- 16:51Speaker 3: How would you know it was me when you're going
- 16:52Speaker 3: to Emerson? I was. I went to Emerson as a
- 16:55Speaker 3: college in Boston.
- 16:56Speaker 7: I know you went to Emerson.
- 16:57Speaker 8: I drove.
- 16:58Speaker 3: I was on the radio then was on the radio
- 17:00Speaker 3: when I was in college.
- 17:02Speaker 9: Oh, you're kidding me.
- 17:04Speaker 6: We didn't have I didn't even own a radio.
- 17:07Speaker 3: Sound like a really progressive guy.
- 17:11Speaker 7: I have a question for you Yes, what is the
- 17:16Speaker 7: three most effective words in advertising? I'm also a buyer,
- 17:24Speaker 7: you know.
- 17:24Speaker 3: So I assume one is free. No, well, wait a minute,
- 17:31Speaker 3: we're trusting you to have this right. What are they?
- 17:35Speaker 7: Oh, let me get let me.
- 17:36Speaker 9: Just answer it.
- 17:37Speaker 3: Well, you got to answer it now because we're going
- 17:38Speaker 3: to be off the phone in about ten seconds.
- 17:41Speaker 6: Rinse and repeat.
- 17:43Speaker 3: Okay, great, I knew this was going to be a
- 17:44Speaker 3: waste of time. Let's go to Mike and Florida. Mike,
- 17:47Speaker 3: how you doing.
- 17:49Speaker 10: Good morning, Mark, Yes, I had a snatch a question
- 17:53Speaker 10: for you.
- 17:54Speaker 3: I know.
- 17:54Speaker 10: When he made movies he was pretty adamant about sort
- 17:59Speaker 10: of one take, two, take said the most and he
- 18:00Speaker 10: would begun. But in the studio he seemed to be very,
- 18:03Speaker 10: very fastidious, and he would do, you know, tons of
- 18:06Speaker 10: takes on.
- 18:08Speaker 3: Yes, there was a reason for that. The reason was
- 18:11Speaker 3: he was the most skilled musician in the world. He was,
- 18:15Speaker 3: as a great critic once said, like on a Mozartian level.
- 18:19Speaker 3: It was like Mozart, like somebody that comes along in
- 18:21Speaker 3: music once every couple hundred years. He was so skilled
- 18:24Speaker 3: in a studio, take after take after take to get
- 18:27Speaker 3: it perfect. But when it came to acting, in movies.
- 18:30Speaker 3: He was an unbelievable natural actor. He knew he wasn't
- 18:33Speaker 3: a skilled professional actor. He was just a natural actor.
- 18:36Speaker 3: So he knew he couldn't do multiple takes and get
- 18:38Speaker 3: it right. His only shot was very natural, get it right,
- 18:42Speaker 3: you know, just make it real. He couldn't do repeat takes.
- 18:45Speaker 3: By the way. He in the first major albums in
- 18:49Speaker 3: the fifties, he would do seventy five one hundred takes.
- 18:52Speaker 3: But he he noticed he was burning out the musicians.
- 18:56Speaker 5: That I was going to ask, like, what would you know?
- 18:58Speaker 5: How did the musicians go?
- 18:59Speaker 10: I mean, they're working with the greatest, so of course
- 19:02Speaker 10: I'm sure you didn't quite too.
- 19:04Speaker 3: I've got you under my skin. That famous saxophone solo,
- 19:06Speaker 3: he said, when you got to take twenty seven, the
- 19:09Speaker 3: guy wasn't as good on his solo. So he realized
- 19:11Speaker 3: with musicians, you can only do about ten twelve takes.
- 19:14Speaker 3: That's it. Very good question, Mike. Let's go to Jack
- 19:18Speaker 3: in New Jersey. Jack, how you doing.
- 19:20Speaker 11: I'm doing fine, Mark, Thanks first time Cohler. I've been
- 19:23Speaker 11: listening to you for a while. Two things I would
- 19:26Speaker 11: like to see is the first one is like you
- 19:29Speaker 11: need a nick Shirley type of a person out there
- 19:32Speaker 11: to confront one of these protesters, like up in Minneapolis
- 19:36Speaker 11: to the ICE protesters and say, how many of your
- 19:40Speaker 11: neighbors would be interested in coming out if the shoes
- 19:43Speaker 11: on the other foot and you were in trouble with
- 19:45Speaker 11: the law, how many you think would be out there?
- 19:47Speaker 3: Well, he sounds like the most riveting programming, But I
- 19:50Speaker 3: get what you're saying, we need more Nick Shirley's he's
- 19:52Speaker 3: the guy that exposed the Somali fraud. You know, I'm
- 19:55Speaker 3: up to nineteen billion of that fraud there in Minnesota.
- 19:59Speaker 3: And you're right, need Nick Shirley everywhere. Need them in
- 20:02Speaker 3: New York, need them all over the place. Let's go
- 20:04Speaker 3: to Vincent and Brooklyn. Vincent, how you.
- 20:07Speaker 12: Doing, Good morning, Mark, Mark. I'm okay. I just wanted
- 20:10Speaker 12: to clarify what happened to me with the tariffs yesterday.
- 20:14Speaker 12: I only had like ten seconds. I'm not against the
- 20:17Speaker 12: tariffs on the big corporations who cheat American workers, who
- 20:21Speaker 12: place massive tariffs on us. I'm just talking about these
- 20:26Speaker 12: Pettieri tariffs that, as I said, a woman sent me
- 20:30Speaker 12: a Christmas gift for sixty seven dollars and I even
- 20:34Speaker 12: called up ups yesterday to get the calculation how they
- 20:38Speaker 12: tabulated the tariffs. The tariffs and fees for me to
- 20:43Speaker 12: get a package that I already owned because she paid
- 20:46Speaker 12: for it, was ninety seven and fifty cents. And I
- 20:50Speaker 12: also heard on Jimmy Fayler's show the other night, the
- 20:53Speaker 12: call in section after ten, a lot of small businessmen
- 20:58Speaker 12: were talking about the same thing. And all I'm saying
- 21:01Speaker 12: is is that Trump needs to have his people retweet
- 21:07Speaker 12: this because over the summer, when this woman came to
- 21:11Speaker 12: stay at my house, didn't.
- 21:13Speaker 3: Stay at your house? What was this all about?
- 21:15Speaker 12: Well, she actually came with her husband. No, weirder, Well,
- 21:20Speaker 12: I leant to one of my apartments.
- 21:23Speaker 3: Well, Vincent, don't worry that that terriff's eventually go away.
- 21:26Speaker 12: Well, unfortunately it is hurting some little people.
- 21:29Speaker 3: Yeah, no it does. But frankly I know, but Vincent,
- 21:33Speaker 3: we get the same exact thing from Democrats. They'll tear
- 21:35Speaker 3: if you even more. They just call it corporate tax.
- 21:38Speaker 12: So but tell me, what how am I supposed to
- 21:42Speaker 12: feel about this?
- 21:43Speaker 3: Not great? But again, the tariffs go away eventually, But
- 21:47Speaker 3: when the Democrats are in power, they'll they'll put huge
- 21:49Speaker 3: time by Vincent. We got to go to do the news. Well,
- 21:53Speaker 3: when we come back, Roger Friedman will be with us
- 21:56Speaker 3: next lots of we'll talk to him about the Oscar
- 21:58Speaker 3: nominations and a whole lot more coming up on seven
- 22:01Speaker 3: to ten w R.
- 22:02Speaker 1: Mister New York Mark Simone on seven wo.
- 22:06Speaker 3: R Well Entertainment reporter Roger Friedman. He runs the great
- 22:10Speaker 3: website showbiz for one one dot com. A lot of
- 22:13Speaker 3: good stories, new stuff every day, Showbiz for one one
- 22:18Speaker 3: dot com. Roger Friedman, How you doing.
- 22:21Speaker 5: I'm great? How are you this morning?
- 22:22Speaker 3: I'm good. Hey. Oscar nominations came out this week. What
- 22:25Speaker 3: do you what do you think? Well?
- 22:27Speaker 5: I think they were. There weren't too many surprises. There
- 22:31Speaker 5: were things I was happy about. The big snub was Wicked.
- 22:37Speaker 5: The second Wicked movie got nothing.
- 22:40Speaker 3: Why is that?
- 22:42Speaker 5: Well, because I think the Academy thought they got a
- 22:44Speaker 5: lot last year and that's enough already, and it was
- 22:48Speaker 5: basically the same movie. So Arian the Grande's fans were
- 22:53Speaker 5: very upset that she wasn't nominated for Best Supporting Actress.
- 22:57Speaker 5: But she you know, she did well at the Golden
- 22:59Speaker 5: Globe and I think that was appropriate. We have a
- 23:03Speaker 5: lot of great nominees. I'm really excited about Ethan Hawke
- 23:08Speaker 5: being nominated Best Actor for Blue Moon, which is just
- 23:13Speaker 5: a terrific little film, and of course Timothy Challomey and
- 23:16Speaker 5: Leonardo DiCaprio are in that. But the big news is
- 23:20Speaker 5: that Sinners has really built up a following. They had
- 23:25Speaker 5: sixteen nominations, the most ever for any movie.
- 23:28Speaker 3: Wow, now, why is that good?
- 23:31Speaker 5: Yeah, you haven't seen it.
- 23:32Speaker 3: No, I see one movie every ten years.
- 23:37Speaker 5: Sinners is Actually it's an interesting movie because it's sort
- 23:41Speaker 5: of like a vampire movie in a way. It's a
- 23:43Speaker 5: horror film, but it's not a horror film. It's a
- 23:47Speaker 5: film about social studies sort of. And music gorgeous R
- 23:52Speaker 5: and B and blues music from Tennessee from Memphis, and
- 23:59Speaker 5: it's it's just a great, great film. And Michael B.
- 24:03Speaker 5: Jordan plays two parts in it, and he was nominated
- 24:06Speaker 5: for he plays the twin brothers, and he was nominated
- 24:09Speaker 5: for Best Actor, and they got del Roy Lindo was
- 24:12Speaker 5: nominated for Best Supporting Actor at seventy three. It's his
- 24:15Speaker 5: first nomination ever and he's such a fabulous actor. So
- 24:19Speaker 5: I think that Sinners may be a spoiler when we
- 24:23Speaker 5: get to the actual show.
- 24:24Speaker 3: What about my favorite movie, Marty Supreme.
- 24:28Speaker 5: Marty Supreme did very well and Timothy Challamy is nominated
- 24:32Speaker 5: for playing Marty, and I think he's probably going to win.
- 24:37Speaker 5: So your old friend Marty can be very proud from
- 24:41Speaker 5: the grave that things have worked out so well for
- 24:44Speaker 5: that movie, which is now at about seventy five million dollars,
- 24:47Speaker 5: which is pretty good.
- 24:48Speaker 3: Yeah. So, but what about Best Picture? You don't think
- 24:50Speaker 3: it'll win Best Picture?
- 24:52Speaker 5: No, I think it's either one Battle after another, which
- 24:55Speaker 5: is sort of my choice. I lean toward that, or
- 24:58Speaker 5: Sinners one or the other. The other great movie is Hamnet,
- 25:03Speaker 5: but I think that these other two are in overwhelm it.
- 25:06Speaker 3: Yeah, so, how many people what percentage actually still goes
- 25:12Speaker 3: to a movie theater rather than streaming, actually goes and
- 25:14Speaker 3: sits in the theater and watches movies.
- 25:16Speaker 5: Now you know what, it's the box office is way
- 25:19Speaker 5: up from last year. I think people found a lot
- 25:23Speaker 5: of these movies very, very enjoyable and have made an
- 25:26Speaker 5: effort to go to theater, which is interesting because people
- 25:29Speaker 5: were saying, oh, theaters are over. You know, Netflix is
- 25:32Speaker 5: going to buy Warner Brothers and then they're going to
- 25:35Speaker 5: put all their movies on Netflix. But no, actually the
- 25:38Speaker 5: box office is up year to year.
- 25:40Speaker 3: So yeah, and if you haven't been to a theater
- 25:42Speaker 3: while many of them now they have these reclining leather seats.
- 25:45Speaker 3: They got great seats, liquor licenses, they got more food, candy, waiters, waitresses.
- 25:49Speaker 3: It's pretty good.
- 25:51Speaker 5: I have to be careful about that because if I
- 25:53Speaker 5: get into that reclining seat, I'll fall asleep immediately.
- 25:56Speaker 3: Well, but it does make a difference. But but but.
- 26:01Speaker 5: It's really it's good. And uh, it's good. Now, of
- 26:05Speaker 5: course we're going to have Milania Trump's movie opening pretty soon.
- 26:08Speaker 3: Hey, let me ask you something about that. It was
- 26:11Speaker 3: done by Brett Ratner, the big Hollywood producer. Wasn't he
- 26:15Speaker 3: kind of blacklisted? Wasn't he me tooed out of Hollywood?
- 26:17Speaker 3: How does he get back in action?
- 26:19Speaker 13: Uh?
- 26:20Speaker 5: Got he got back into action because nobody else want
- 26:23Speaker 5: Mets to direct this movie.
- 26:25Speaker 3: And still it's Amazon. Why would they get involved with
- 26:28Speaker 3: this guy?
- 26:29Speaker 5: No, I don't know. I mean, I like Brett, I
- 26:32Speaker 5: know him a long time, We've been friends for years,
- 26:35Speaker 5: But I do worry about his association with this Also,
- 26:39Speaker 5: as I've been reporting, there's almost been no advanced sale
- 26:43Speaker 5: for this movie. No one is buying tickets, and it
- 26:47Speaker 5: was very funny. For some reason, on the website for
- 26:50Speaker 5: the movie, it came up that I could choose buying
- 26:54Speaker 5: seats in Dixon City, Pennsylvania. Did you ever hear Dixon
- 26:57Speaker 5: City coming back?
- 26:58Speaker 3: I could see you there. I think it'd fit right in.
- 27:01Speaker 5: I've never heard of it before. Let's be honest, Stranson.
- 27:04Speaker 3: Let's be honest. I would guess you don't own a
- 27:07Speaker 3: Maga hat.
- 27:09Speaker 5: I don't own a Maga, but red is not my color.
- 27:12Speaker 5: And also, the hats never look good on me. Even
- 27:15Speaker 5: the Yankee hats still look good on me. Hey, just
- 27:17Speaker 5: I can't make it work.
- 27:19Speaker 3: Speaking of documentaries, tell us about because this is the
- 27:21Speaker 3: one I'm looking forward. Tell us about the mel Brooks documentary.
- 27:25Speaker 5: Oh, it's so great. It started last night and tonight
- 27:28Speaker 5: is part two on HBO, and then it's going to
- 27:30Speaker 5: be running all weekend and in our snowstorm, we're going
- 27:33Speaker 5: to have a lot of fun watching the Melbrooks movie.
- 27:36Speaker 5: He's ninety nine years old, he's got every marvel and
- 27:41Speaker 5: he looks great. And the movie, the documentary in two parts,
- 27:46Speaker 5: tells the whole story of his career, you know, his
- 27:49Speaker 5: even his life before in Bancroft and his first marriage
- 27:55Speaker 5: and it had three kids from the first marriage, and
- 27:57Speaker 5: he was working on your show of shows, and he
- 28:02Speaker 5: was trying to make a living and he was having
- 28:05Speaker 5: a lot of trouble and then, you know, and then
- 28:06Speaker 5: finally he wrote the Producers, and the producers in nineteen
- 28:10Speaker 5: sixty eight got him an oscar for the screenplay, and
- 28:13Speaker 5: it sent his career soaring. And then we have all
- 28:16Speaker 5: those great movies from the seventies, Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein.
- 28:22Speaker 3: And the movie.
- 28:23Speaker 5: Jane Appatto hosts the documentary and he does a great job,
- 28:28Speaker 5: and there's lots of interviews with various people who've known
- 28:32Speaker 5: Mel over the years, including Rob Reiner, who was, you know,
- 28:36Speaker 5: the son of his best friends. And Rob Reiner is
- 28:42Speaker 5: it's really like tragic to watch him because he's so
- 28:45Speaker 5: you just love him when you see him, and you
- 28:46Speaker 5: think about this terrible thing that's happened. But Rob Reiner's
- 28:50Speaker 5: in it, and Ben Stiller and lots of cool people,
- 28:54Speaker 5: but it's mostly Mel talking, you know, at ninety nine
- 28:59Speaker 5: about this incredible career that he's had, and so it's
- 29:03Speaker 5: well worth watching both nights. Tonight is the second night
- 29:07Speaker 5: and it's on HBO HBO, so go watch yea, hey,
- 29:11Speaker 5: you know what you should go watch.
- 29:12Speaker 3: There's an incredible new Sinatra documentary also two parts. I
- 29:16Speaker 3: saw that you did. Yeah, it's on Fox Nation. That's
- 29:20Speaker 3: their streaming service. You have to go.
- 29:22Speaker 5: I know that's all right. I love Sinatra. I'll see
- 29:25Speaker 5: anything with Sinatra. I don't care where it is.
- 29:27Speaker 3: But that documentary is pretty good, pretty well done.
- 29:30Speaker 5: Yeah, there was an HBO documentary several years ago, maybe
- 29:34Speaker 5: ten years ago, there was a great HBO documentary about
- 29:37Speaker 5: Sinatra that's worth finding on their pay per view. But
- 29:42Speaker 5: I'll watch anything about you know that. We'll watch anything
- 29:44Speaker 5: about friend Sinatra.
- 29:45Speaker 3: Yeah, but go watch this one. It's on the Fox Nation.
- 29:47Speaker 3: It's called I don't like the title. It's called The
- 29:49Speaker 3: Echoes of an Icon. It's just a new Sinatra. It's great. Hey,
- 29:53Speaker 3: we only got like forty seconds. How's Broadway doing?
- 29:58Speaker 5: Broadway's booming and Harry Potter of all things. Harry Potter
- 30:03Speaker 5: has been around for several years. It started out as
- 30:06Speaker 5: two plays with an intermission, then they combined it into
- 30:09Speaker 5: one play. It's never really been a success. But Tom Felton,
- 30:14Speaker 5: who played a part in the Harry Potter movies, is
- 30:18Speaker 5: in the play now and the play has taken off
- 30:21Speaker 5: and gone up like a million dollars a week in sales.
- 30:24Speaker 5: It's huge and it was number one this past week
- 30:26Speaker 5: two point six million dollars.
- 30:28Speaker 3: Wow.
- 30:28Speaker 5: So everyone is crazy now about Harry Potter and the
- 30:32Speaker 5: Curse Child. And it's definitely I remember it from the opening.
- 30:36Speaker 5: The magic in it and the special effects are fabulous,
- 30:40Speaker 5: so it's worth checking out. But when this guy came in,
- 30:43Speaker 5: if they just bring in one person every few months
- 30:46Speaker 5: from the movies, they'll stay on top forever.
- 30:50Speaker 3: Well, roger' Friedman great stuff. If you want more, check
- 30:52Speaker 3: out his website and there's new stories every day. Showpizo
- 30:56Speaker 3: one dot com, show Biz four to one one.
- 30:59Speaker 5: Oh you know what I'm saying. Today Mark shows something
- 31:01Speaker 5: ps that you'll enjoy. I'll tell you about it next week.
- 31:04Speaker 5: I'm going to a workshop of a musical about Dion.
- 31:09Speaker 3: And the Belmonts.
- 31:10Speaker 5: Dion de Mucci Deucci.
- 31:11Speaker 3: Yeah, a great guy, terrific guy. All right, Well, let us.
- 31:14Speaker 5: Call the Wanderer and uh it's and today they're showing
- 31:18Speaker 5: giving a little preview of it today, so I'll tell
- 31:20Speaker 5: you if that's all right.
- 31:20Speaker 3: We'll talk about it next week. Roger Friedman, thanks for
- 31:23Speaker 3: being with us. Thank you, take care. Uh yes, website
- 31:27Speaker 3: Showbiz four one one dot com. Hey, Buck and Clay
- 31:30Speaker 3: will be here today at noon today. And then you
- 31:34Speaker 3: got the most listened to radio show in America, Sean
- 31:37Speaker 3: Hannity at three, Jesse Kelly at six, and make sure
- 31:40Speaker 3: you listen now every night nine to midnight. Very good show,
- 31:44Speaker 3: very funny show. Jimmy Fayala every night at nine on
- 31:47Speaker 3: seven to ten. Wo R.
- 31:49Speaker 1: Here's more. Mark Simone on seven ten wo R.
- 31:53Speaker 3: Well, hey, we got another hour to go. We'll get
- 31:55Speaker 3: you all the latest on the snow and uh well,
- 31:59Speaker 3: we'll get to Mayor Mom, Donnie, we'll get to the Clintons.
- 32:03Speaker 3: They're in Legal Jeopardy again and more coming up right
- 32:06Speaker 3: after the news. Mark Simone here on seven ten WR.
- 32:10Speaker 1: He knows his way around all this.
- 32:14Speaker 2: It's the Mark Simone Show on seven tenor.
- 32:19Speaker 3: Well, it's Friday. Normally that's great. You're looking forward to
- 32:22Speaker 3: a wonderful weekend, but this weekend you'll uh, well, Saturday,
- 32:26Speaker 3: it's going to be bitterly cold. It will be a
- 32:28Speaker 3: real feel of like minus five or something all day Saturday. See,
- 32:32Speaker 3: you're not going to really want to be out much
- 32:33Speaker 3: on Saturday. And then Sunday you got the storm, the
- 32:36Speaker 3: snow all day long. It will start overnight Saturday, about two, three,
- 32:42Speaker 3: four in the morning, it'll start snowing. It'll snow all
- 32:46Speaker 3: day Sunday. It won't stop, It'll pile up. It'll snow
- 32:49Speaker 3: overnight Sunday night. It'll stop somewhere Monday morning, maybe come
- 32:53Speaker 3: back a little here and there in the afternoon, and
- 32:55Speaker 3: then that'll be it. But most likely forecast six to
- 33:00Speaker 3: eight inches. The different various models show a range of
- 33:04Speaker 3: four to twelve inches, but figure six to eight inches.
- 33:07Speaker 3: It's a lot of snow. If you're in the suburbs.
- 33:10Speaker 3: It's going to disrupt everything for a while. Also, unlike
- 33:14Speaker 3: other snowstorms, it's going to be freezing cold for the
- 33:18Speaker 3: next few days. It'll be like in the twenties, real
- 33:21Speaker 3: Field and the teens. So after the snow is done
- 33:24Speaker 3: on Monday, for the next few days, it'll be so
- 33:27Speaker 3: cold that nothing will melt. You won't be able to
- 33:30Speaker 3: melt that snow. You won't be able to shovel it.
- 33:32Speaker 3: You know, if you're in the city, it doesn't really
- 33:35Speaker 3: bother us because it doesn't really even stick on the ground.
- 33:39Speaker 3: These sidewalks are so warm, people a million people walking
- 33:42Speaker 3: all over them. The subway underneath heats them. So the
- 33:45Speaker 3: city is fine, although you'll have some snow banks here
- 33:48Speaker 3: in there. But when you're in the suburbs, it's a
- 33:50Speaker 3: mess because the mall, the strip, mall, the supermarket, they'll shuffle,
- 33:56Speaker 3: they'll shovel the parking lot, but you'll lose half the
- 33:59Speaker 3: parking spaces where they pile up the snow in those snowbanks,
- 34:02Speaker 3: and all of that will stay for days and days
- 34:05Speaker 3: and days. Looks like in New York City, at least
- 34:08Speaker 3: they'll be school on Monday. Now it may go remote
- 34:13Speaker 3: and this is not fair to kids. It's very important
- 34:15Speaker 3: to have snow days where school is just canceled. You know,
- 34:19Speaker 3: when we were a kid, it was a snow day,
- 34:21Speaker 3: he had the day off, you'd watch game shows, you'd
- 34:23Speaker 3: goof off. But now if there is a snow day,
- 34:27Speaker 3: it'll just switch to remote learning. And imagine a lot
- 34:32Speaker 3: of suburban schools will do that. Not everybody's made the
- 34:34Speaker 3: decision yet, but we'll keep you up to date here
- 34:38Speaker 3: on the storm. This will be the first major test
- 34:42Speaker 3: of mom Donnie and his management skills. Although the emergency
- 34:45Speaker 3: team that does all this stuff is still there from
- 34:48Speaker 3: the Adams administration, so it's the same team. The director
- 34:51Speaker 3: of Emergency Management, he's a good guy. He'll be able
- 34:53Speaker 3: to handle this. He's resigned, but he gave two weeks notice,
- 34:57Speaker 3: so he's still there through this storm. Now. When he leaves,
- 35:01Speaker 3: the good news is his deputy takes over, who he
- 35:04Speaker 3: says is pretty good. She's been there for a long
- 35:06Speaker 3: long time, so it should be should be okay Greenland.
- 35:12Speaker 3: Speaking of snow, it looks like the deal is done,
- 35:16Speaker 3: and the deal is basically, we lease Greenland and control
- 35:19Speaker 3: it for decades and decades and decades, sometimes Trump hinting
- 35:25Speaker 3: it could be forever. Now that's different from actually buying
- 35:29Speaker 3: it and owning it. But some people are pointing out
- 35:33Speaker 3: this is actually better. We don't want to buy it
- 35:34Speaker 3: and own it and make it part of the US.
- 35:36Speaker 3: We want to just lease it and have control. If
- 35:38Speaker 3: we buy it make it part of the US, then
- 35:41Speaker 3: you're going to have to give them two senators. You're
- 35:43Speaker 3: gonna have to give them. Congressmen, you're going to have
- 35:45Speaker 3: to pay the welfare for most of the people on Greenland.
- 35:50Speaker 3: And it's only about fifty seven thousand people, but they're
- 35:52Speaker 3: on some kind of welfare. Hey. Now, once again, the
- 35:55Speaker 3: idea of buying Greenland or owning Greenland, or making part
- 35:58Speaker 3: of the US that is not a Trump policy. That's
- 36:02Speaker 3: been the official policy of the United States for one
- 36:07Speaker 3: hundred and fifty years. One hundred and fifty years. Lots
- 36:10Speaker 3: of presidents have tried to get Greenland. The last most
- 36:13Speaker 3: serious attempt was Harry Truman, who offered I think it
- 36:16Speaker 3: was a billion dollars, which back then nineteen forty nine
- 36:20Speaker 3: or whatever was a staggering amount of money. But it's
- 36:23Speaker 3: always been US policy to get Greenland. This is not
- 36:27Speaker 3: a Trump policy. But it was just fine for all
- 36:30Speaker 3: these years trying to get Greenland. But as soon as
- 36:32Speaker 3: it was Trump, this is terrible. All of a sudden,
- 36:34Speaker 3: everybody went crazy. Same thing with ice, the idea of
- 36:38Speaker 3: ice going into cities and snatching up illegals off the streets.
- 36:43Speaker 3: That was Barack Obama. He did it all the time.
- 36:45Speaker 3: And you know, he put in charge of it a
- 36:47Speaker 3: guy named Tom Holman, and you know, before Obama left office,
- 36:51Speaker 3: he gave Tom Holman the Distinguished Service Award from the
- 36:55Speaker 3: federal government for what he did. So it goes on
- 36:58Speaker 3: all the time. It's just only bad when Trump does it.
- 37:01Speaker 3: It was a great moment on CNN with Ben Ferguson
- 37:06Speaker 3: and the host I think was Abbey phillip Is screaming
- 37:08Speaker 3: at Ben Ferguson the idea of Ice going into what
- 37:12Speaker 3: Ice is doing. He's never been good, it's always been controversial,
- 37:16Speaker 3: and Ben Ferguson said that's not true. It was considered
- 37:18Speaker 3: great under Obama. In fact, you guys at CNN did
- 37:21Speaker 3: ride alongs. That's true. The video has emerged back when
- 37:25Speaker 3: Obama was doing the same exact thing. CNN covered it
- 37:29Speaker 3: and showed how brilliant this was, how great this was.
- 37:31Speaker 3: Look at it what Obama is getting done. They did
- 37:33Speaker 3: ride along videos. Look at how they're rounding up. This
- 37:36Speaker 3: is great. But as soon as it's Trump, it's a disaster.
- 37:39Speaker 3: It's awful. Hey, the crazy protesters who broke into that church,
- 37:46Speaker 3: stopped the service, stop the ceremony. The two ringleaders have
- 37:50Speaker 3: been arrested. Now they're going to probably get Don Lemon.
- 37:54Speaker 3: At some point it went before some left wing judge
- 37:57Speaker 3: who tossed it out said you can't arrest Don Lemon
- 37:59Speaker 3: for this. It's just some crazy left wing judge. They'll
- 38:02Speaker 3: appeal the whole thing. The Attorney General herself, Pam Bondi,
- 38:06Speaker 3: has flown to Minnesota to get this thing going.
- 38:09Speaker 14: Religious liberty is under siege in our country right now,
- 38:13Speaker 14: and we are not going anywhere until those people who
- 38:18Speaker 14: did those acts are held accountable.
- 38:20Speaker 3: Yeah. No, the yelling about freedom of speech, freedom to protest,
- 38:25Speaker 3: First Amendment, it's all great, but that means you can
- 38:27Speaker 3: stand outside and yell. You cannot enter the church. It's
- 38:30Speaker 3: actually says in the law you cannot go into a
- 38:33Speaker 3: house of worship and do anything to intimidate or interfere
- 38:37Speaker 3: with a church service. It's illegal. It's a crime. So
- 38:40Speaker 3: they've arrested the two ringleaders and here's Paul Murrow, the
- 38:44Speaker 3: security expert.
- 38:45Speaker 15: It is going to be very very little that they
- 38:48Speaker 15: can do in defense of this because it's on filming.
- 38:50Speaker 15: But for once, they didn't cover their faces. Now Here
- 38:52Speaker 15: is the thing that's going to come out of this.
- 38:54Speaker 15: You have her under her arrest. Now you're going to
- 38:56Speaker 15: get the communications and this is where it starts to spider.
- 38:59Speaker 3: Whereabout you start to see who's talking to.
- 39:01Speaker 15: Who, who showed up in regard including Don Lemon. How
- 39:05Speaker 15: much did they all know going in? That imports things
- 39:07Speaker 15: like conspiracy charges, which can be quite quite heavy.
- 39:11Speaker 3: Yeah, so that's where they're going to start. Now they've
- 39:14Speaker 3: got the two ring leaders, they'll start to get everybody
- 39:16Speaker 3: else under arrest.
- 39:17Speaker 15: Not only did that come out in the video and
- 39:20Speaker 15: that they said something like that in the church, but
- 39:22Speaker 15: then after the fact Lemon talks about exactly that, putting
- 39:26Speaker 15: a racial overtone in the whole thing, which potentially could
- 39:30Speaker 15: import a hate crime.
- 39:31Speaker 3: Nah, that's interesting. Lemon could be charged also with hate crime.
- 39:34Speaker 15: There is a job career protester and it has developed
- 39:38Speaker 15: over the last let's say a dozen years or so
- 39:41Speaker 15: into a very lucrative industry, and you have people who
- 39:44Speaker 15: do this for a living, make a ton of money.
- 39:47Speaker 15: They weaponize people who don't know any better, to use
- 39:50Speaker 15: the Leninist term, useful idiots. They're looking for any cause
- 39:53Speaker 15: in the world. They get them out of the campuses
- 39:55Speaker 15: pretty good.
- 39:56Speaker 3: Hey, the Clintons are in tremendous legal jeopardy. They have
- 40:00Speaker 3: defied a congressional subpoena. They have refused to testify, and
- 40:06Speaker 3: when you do that, you go to prison. That's what
- 40:08Speaker 3: happened to Steve Bannon, That's what happened to Peter Navarro.
- 40:11Speaker 3: They refused to testify. When they got the subpoena in
- 40:14Speaker 3: front of Congress, they went to prison. So you could
- 40:17Speaker 3: actually send the Clintons to prison. They've actually done exactly
- 40:22Speaker 3: what Steve Bannon did, exactly what Navarro did. Here's crazy goofy,
- 40:27Speaker 3: Hakim Jeffries.
- 40:29Speaker 16: If COMA tries to bring this resolution, he wants to
- 40:33Speaker 16: lock Hillary Clinton up, consistent with what Donald Trump's been
- 40:38Speaker 16: saying now for ten years, lock her up, as opposed
- 40:42Speaker 16: to actually focusing on the things that matter for the
- 40:44Speaker 16: American people, then we'll deal with it appropriately.
- 40:48Speaker 3: That's when you know they're in trouble. Instead of focusing
- 40:51Speaker 3: on what's important for the American people. When they put
- 40:54Speaker 3: Trump on trial in four places, did Hakim Jeffrey say, hey,
- 40:57Speaker 3: focus on what's important for the American people now? Now,
- 41:01Speaker 3: the only argument protecting the Clintons is, well, Steve Bannon,
- 41:05Speaker 3: this is an ex president. It's different if it's an
- 41:07Speaker 3: next president. Well, not really. You put the arrested Donald
- 41:12Speaker 3: Trump in four different places five thousand times. So apparently,
- 41:15Speaker 3: according to the Merrick Garland Joe Biden standard, it's not
- 41:18Speaker 3: different when it's an next president. Hey, you know who died.
- 41:22Speaker 3: I can't believe it. Uncle Floyd. You remember Uncle Floyd.
- 41:26Speaker 3: Now there'll be plenty of people don't know what I'm
- 41:27Speaker 3: talking about, but plenty of people who do. Uncle Floyd
- 41:30Speaker 3: wasn't that old. He was seventy four. Floyd Vivino course
- 41:33Speaker 3: hosted that children's TV show for years. He also was
- 41:37Speaker 3: a great comedian and a great musician pianist. Uncle Floyd
- 41:42Speaker 3: gone at the age of seventy four. This is back
- 41:45Speaker 3: in the way, way way in the past, like a
- 41:49Speaker 3: way back into the eighties. When he has on UA Chef.
- 41:53Speaker 3: You remember that there was regular TV and there was
- 41:57Speaker 3: UA Chef and on his case, I think was channel
- 41:59Speaker 3: sixty eight out of Jersey. You know, kids today you
- 42:01Speaker 3: wouldn't believe it. You had a TV that had an
- 42:04Speaker 3: antenna and there was channel two, four, five, seven, nine, eleven,
- 42:10Speaker 3: and then there was UHF. You could switch over this
- 42:13Speaker 3: UHF where there was like a channel fifty in the channels.
- 42:16Speaker 3: This sounds like the Flintstones. This sounds so primitive. It
- 42:20Speaker 3: sounds like cavemen who knew back then that within a
- 42:23Speaker 3: few years there'd be cable and two hundred channels, and
- 42:27Speaker 3: then years after that there'd be cable and six hundred channels.
- 42:32Speaker 3: And I remember you had cable with six hundred channels
- 42:36Speaker 3: and there was still nothing to watch. You could have
- 42:38Speaker 3: eight hundred channels, You're still watching Law and Order reruns
- 42:40Speaker 3: and that's it. But then streaming begins and everybody forgets
- 42:45Speaker 3: about regular TV. Everything is streaming now. You know, it
- 42:49Speaker 3: used to be a big deal network TV. It means
- 42:51Speaker 3: absolutely nothing anymore. You know, you used to wait and
- 42:53Speaker 3: see if your favorite show got picked up for the
- 42:56Speaker 3: next year. They just announced all the renewals for next year. Tracker,
- 43:01Speaker 3: that's like the biggest show in network TV. Tracker got
- 43:03Speaker 3: the renewed. Mattlock got renewed. There's like a new Mattlock.
- 43:07Speaker 3: It's not Andy Griffith. I think it's a woman this time.
- 43:11Speaker 3: Boston Blue got renewed, but only for eight episodes. That's
- 43:14Speaker 3: not a good saying. All the NCIS has got renewed.
- 43:18Speaker 3: Fire Country got renewed. That's everywhere now. This Fire Country,
- 43:21Speaker 3: I don't even know what the hell it is? Sydney Survivor.
- 43:27Speaker 3: I don't even know most of these shows. Georgie and
- 43:29Speaker 3: Mandy's first marriage, anybody know what that is? I don't
- 43:32Speaker 3: know the Amazing Race, I know what that is. Elizabeth
- 43:35Speaker 3: got Elsbeth got the renewed. Okay, So but again it
- 43:38Speaker 3: doesn't mean anything. Nobody watches network TV anymore. It's all streaming. Hey,
- 43:43Speaker 3: Donald Trump has announced a big lawsuit against JP Morgan Chase.
- 43:49Speaker 3: JP Morgan Chase being sued by Trump now for five
- 43:52Speaker 3: billion dollars. And he's got a great case. When he
- 43:56Speaker 3: was the ex president a few years ago, JP Morgan
- 44:01Speaker 3: Chase d banked him. In other words, they refused to
- 44:05Speaker 3: allow him to have a bank account. He had many
- 44:07Speaker 3: bank accounts there, not personally, but for his business. You're
- 44:10Speaker 3: talking about hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of millions of dollars,
- 44:14Speaker 3: and they threw them out of the bank. Now, if
- 44:16Speaker 3: you have a remember Trump has a major, major corporation.
- 44:20Speaker 3: It's a global empire doing business all over the world.
- 44:23Speaker 3: That's impossible to run a business without bank accounts. In fact,
- 44:27Speaker 3: when you're a business, you have many, many bank accounts.
- 44:30Speaker 3: So to throw them out to dbank them, and then
- 44:33Speaker 3: other banks followed. Bank of America and other banks followed.
- 44:36Speaker 3: So he couldn't believe it when it happened. How could
- 44:38Speaker 3: you be blacklisted from banks? You can't, how could you
- 44:42Speaker 3: stay in business? So it was a horrible, frightening thing
- 44:46Speaker 3: to do to a business. It wasn't just Trump. They
- 44:48Speaker 3: did it to a lot of conservatives. And Trump is
- 44:51Speaker 3: now suing them for five billion dollars. He most likely
- 44:56Speaker 3: will get a massive settlement. They'll probably settle with him
- 44:59Speaker 3: for a fortune, maybe even a billion dollars. Now. JP
- 45:05Speaker 3: Morgan Chase is a great company run by Jamie Diamond,
- 45:08Speaker 3: best CEO in America. Why would they do such a thing.
- 45:11Speaker 3: They wouldn't because it hurts the bank. Why would they
- 45:14Speaker 3: do it? The Biden administration forced them to. The Biden
- 45:18Speaker 3: administration threatened the banks. With everything in the world, they're
- 45:22Speaker 3: totally regulated and dependent on government. The Biden administration threatened
- 45:26Speaker 3: them and forced them to do it. This is the
- 45:28Speaker 3: other reason for the lawsuit to get this to come
- 45:32Speaker 3: out in court. Now, Democrats may go to JP Morgan
- 45:37Speaker 3: Chase and make them settle this because they don't want
- 45:40Speaker 3: Democrats don't want this coming out in court that they
- 45:43Speaker 3: played this kind of game, the Shenanigans. So we'll see
- 45:46Speaker 3: what happens. No matter how it turns out, Donald Trump
- 45:49Speaker 3: will be getting a hell of a payday from this. Hey,
- 45:53Speaker 3: we'll take some calls in a minute. Eight hundred three
- 45:55Speaker 3: to two to one zero seven ten is the number.
- 45:58Speaker 3: Eight hundred three to two one zero seven ten.
- 46:03Speaker 2: Give w oar a bre said on the iHeartRadio app
- 46:07Speaker 2: to hear Mark Simone and all the WR hosts in
- 46:11Speaker 2: an instead. Now back to the Mark Simo show on WOR.
- 46:17Speaker 3: Well, let's take some calls. Let's go to uh Frank
- 46:20Speaker 3: in Arizona. Frank, how you doing well?
- 46:23Speaker 9: Mark?
- 46:23Speaker 17: Mark?
- 46:24Speaker 9: I was a huge Uncle Floyd fan back in the
- 46:27Speaker 9: seventies when I was twenty six years old. He announced
- 46:29Speaker 9: my birthday and I wanted Uncle Millton's an arm, and
- 46:33Speaker 9: all the answer were dead when I got this. But
- 46:36Speaker 9: his show was kind of like a stupy stale show,
- 46:38Speaker 9: you know. It was kind of people will goof it
- 46:40Speaker 9: up in the back line. You could hit him talking
- 46:41Speaker 9: and he just one goofy thing after another. He did characters,
- 46:45Speaker 9: but yeah.
- 46:47Speaker 3: You're right, it was of a kind of a very local,
- 46:49Speaker 3: very minor league copy of the Soupy Sales Show. That's
- 46:52Speaker 3: what it was.
- 46:52Speaker 9: Oh, absolutely, and Mark, I love Vincent?
- 46:56Speaker 3: You love who the Vincent?
- 46:58Speaker 5: Oh buddy Vincent?
- 46:59Speaker 3: Yeah all right, yeah, Hey, what's the temperature in Arizona?
- 47:03Speaker 1: Uh?
- 47:04Speaker 9: You know what. It's seventy two right now. It's supposed
- 47:07Speaker 9: to rain today. But yeah, you know, if you come
- 47:09Speaker 9: out here now, it's great, but don't come out in August,
- 47:11Speaker 9: is July, and don't forget about it.
- 47:14Speaker 3: One hundred and twenty. Well, so what do you do
- 47:16Speaker 3: out there in the summer on it's one hundred and twenty?
- 47:19Speaker 9: Well, you know what they say in the winter time
- 47:21Speaker 9: back east, you're inside out here in the summertime, you're inside, right.
- 47:25Speaker 3: Well, thanks for calling, Yeah, but you know here, we're
- 47:27Speaker 3: inside a couple of days when it snows out there,
- 47:30Speaker 3: it's one hundred and twenty for a couple of months.
- 47:32Speaker 3: Let's go to Let's go to Mike and Bayonne. Mike,
- 47:35Speaker 3: how you doing?
- 47:37Speaker 9: Hey, what's going on? Western Peace?
- 47:40Speaker 3: Vinny?
- 47:42Speaker 9: Uncle Floyd was fantastic. I think every New Jersey and
- 47:46Speaker 9: should fly their flags at half mass. And anyone who
- 47:50Speaker 9: doesn't know Uncle Floyd should go on YouTube and check
- 47:53Speaker 9: them out.
- 47:53Speaker 5: It was my hero when I was a teenager.
- 47:56Speaker 3: Well, you see, that's interesting. Uncle Floyd died. I announced
- 47:58Speaker 3: it before. I'm thinking to myself, a lot of people
- 48:00Speaker 3: people know who Uncle Floyd. Uncle Floyd touched a lot
- 48:04Speaker 3: of lives. I'm trying to think if I I met
- 48:06Speaker 3: him a few times. Actually, remember I used to do
- 48:08Speaker 3: the Saturday night show, The Oldie Show. He was on
- 48:10Speaker 3: that a couple of times. He was a guest. I'm
- 48:13Speaker 3: trying to remember. I think I was on the Uncle
- 48:15Speaker 3: Floyd Show once somewhere in the eighties, and I remember
- 48:19Speaker 3: doing a some benefit somewhere with him where I think
- 48:24Speaker 3: I was the MC and he was on the show.
- 48:25Speaker 3: He's a very nice guy in real life. Let's go
- 48:27Speaker 3: to Jimmy and New Milford. Jimmy, how you doing?
- 48:33Speaker 1: What do you.
- 48:36Speaker 8: What?
- 48:36Speaker 3: Do you want a wood chipper? What's going on there?
- 48:41Speaker 13: I'm sorry, I'm just asking about that website. Rock to you?
- 48:45Speaker 9: Okay, Yes, did you use that yet?
- 48:48Speaker 3: Yeah? Grock is Okay, it's the AI of Elon Musk.
- 48:52Speaker 3: It's the x AI. Depends what you want to do.
- 48:55Speaker 3: Groc is very good with some things. You want to
- 48:58Speaker 3: create pictures, I chatch YOUPT is better Grock nut Crt
- 49:01Speaker 3: is good. You don't sound like the AI type of guy,
- 49:05Speaker 3: but thanks. Yeah, Uh, they're both good. There's a lot
- 49:10Speaker 3: of good ones. But if you want, if you got
- 49:11Speaker 3: a picture and you want to create, you know, take
- 49:14Speaker 3: your picture and create something. Uh Rock pretty good. Chat
- 49:20Speaker 3: chept to look a little more real. Let's go to
- 49:23Speaker 3: Joe in Elmwood. Joe, how you doing.
- 49:27Speaker 17: Good morning, Mark, Sorry to hear about Uncle fyd Uh
- 49:31Speaker 17: and kudos to Vincent.
- 49:33Speaker 9: Uh.
- 49:33Speaker 17: I want to talk about our new governor. What they
- 49:36Speaker 17: did those two clowns and uh Trenton. They doubled our
- 49:42Speaker 17: energy costs and now she's going to put a cap
- 49:44Speaker 17: on it to be the hero.
- 49:47Speaker 3: Yeah, she's going to be a mess. But you guys
- 49:51Speaker 3: are used to it in New Jersey. You keep collecting
- 49:53Speaker 3: these crazy idiots. Yeah.
- 49:55Speaker 17: And uh, when is uh Nick Shirley going to come
- 49:59Speaker 17: to New.
- 50:01Speaker 3: Here? Yeah, that's the other problem, you know. New Jersey
- 50:04Speaker 3: is just waste and fraud and bloat. That's why your
- 50:07Speaker 3: taxes are so high. If you got Nick Shirley and
- 50:10Speaker 3: Elon Musk going to bring there to clean it up,
- 50:12Speaker 3: doge the whole thing, your taxes would be about one
- 50:15Speaker 3: third of what they are now. And if you didn't
- 50:17Speaker 3: know who this woman was, if I just played this
- 50:19Speaker 3: clip here, if I didn't tell you who this was,
- 50:22Speaker 3: would you think this is a governor of a state.
- 50:24Speaker 18: I would encourage everyone to, you know what, have a
- 50:28Speaker 18: great family day at home this weekend, play some born games.
- 50:32Speaker 18: Don't go out in this.
- 50:34Speaker 3: Yeah, you see, if you're the mayor or the governor,
- 50:36Speaker 3: you're supposed to put on that jacket, you know, that snowjacket,
- 50:40Speaker 3: that official jacket, and sound very serious and lay out everything.
- 50:44Speaker 3: They'll be over two thousand salt spreaders. We'll be doing this,
- 50:46Speaker 3: We'll be doing that. You're supposed to sound very official, authoritative,
- 50:50Speaker 3: like you've got everything planned. You're not supposed to just
- 50:52Speaker 3: be goofy.
- 50:53Speaker 18: And I would encourage everyone to, you know what, have
- 50:56Speaker 18: a great family day at home this weekend. Pay some
- 51:00Speaker 18: board games.
- 51:01Speaker 3: Don't go out. Did they play board games anymore? You do?
- 51:06Speaker 3: I can't imagine when you got eight million TV channels,
- 51:11Speaker 3: when you got eight thousand streaming services, when you got
- 51:14Speaker 3: your phone, your laptop, who's going to play a board game?
- 51:16Speaker 3: But I guess people do. Hey, Sunday, you got two
- 51:18Speaker 3: great football games that will help. Let's go to Mario
- 51:21Speaker 3: in New Jersey. Mario, how you doing?
- 51:24Speaker 13: Oh, good morning, Mark, thanks for taking my call. Listen,
- 51:28Speaker 13: I'm sorry about Uncle Floyd's passing.
- 51:31Speaker 3: By this Uncle Floyd turns out to be the biggest
- 51:33Speaker 3: story of the day.
- 51:34Speaker 13: It is, and I got to my memories of him.
- 51:37Speaker 13: Or when I back in the seventies, I was in
- 51:40Speaker 13: the army in Fort Dix, and before we went down
- 51:44Speaker 13: on maneuvers or whatever, we'd sit in the rec room
- 51:47Speaker 13: and everybody, all these soldiers and all their uniforms, we'd
- 51:50Speaker 13: all be watching Uncle Floyd.
- 51:54Speaker 3: I can't think of anything more inspiring. Are you supposed
- 51:56Speaker 3: to be watching like Paton the movie or something, But
- 51:58Speaker 3: you're watching Uncle That's it, boy. But a lot of
- 52:01Speaker 3: people remember this guy. Let's go to Bill in Lafayette,
- 52:04Speaker 3: New Jersey. Bill, how you doing.
- 52:06Speaker 9: Okay? Mark? I graduated high school with Looney Skip Rooney,
- 52:10Speaker 9: who was a sidekick on the Uncle Floyd's show, and
- 52:14Speaker 9: he would invite me on the show just to watch
- 52:16Speaker 9: once in a while. So I used to bawl at
- 52:18Speaker 9: Eagle Rock and I walked over to the recording studio
- 52:23Speaker 9: and I talked to Skiff and a couple other people,
- 52:26Speaker 9: and they had this guest waiting in the hallway. So
- 52:30Speaker 9: I walked down and I thought it was tiny Tim,
- 52:34Speaker 9: but I was mistaken. But they introduced him on the
- 52:36Speaker 9: show later on, and it was Howard Stern. I'm going, oh, yeah,
- 52:41Speaker 9: who the hell is this guy?
- 52:42Speaker 3: I forgot about that. Howard Stern was on the Uncle
- 52:44Speaker 3: Floyd show. Yeah, absolutely, back in the eighties. So Uncle Floyd,
- 52:48Speaker 3: it was Looney Skip Rooney, and then who else was
- 52:51Speaker 3: on the show? I'm trying to remember.
- 52:55Speaker 5: Mister Silly.
- 52:56Speaker 9: Yeah, was one of my favorites, the fat guy that
- 53:00Speaker 9: always eats a toast at the diner, and a couple
- 53:04Speaker 9: other guys. It's hard to remember, but it was a
- 53:07Speaker 9: great show. Was it was silly, it was goofy, it
- 53:10Speaker 9: was funny, it was entertaining, and Looney Skip Rooney was
- 53:14Speaker 9: a goof I actually tied with him as the funniest
- 53:19Speaker 9: guy in the high school, but he beat me out
- 53:21Speaker 9: by a couple of points.
- 53:22Speaker 3: Yeah, it doesn't sound like the bar was too high
- 53:25Speaker 3: in this high school for that time. All right, Well,
- 53:30Speaker 3: thanks for calling, great call. Yeah, So now a lot
- 53:33Speaker 3: of people remember Uncle Floyd. He passed away at the
- 53:35Speaker 3: age of seventy four. Hey, when we come back, Steve
- 53:39Speaker 3: Cuso the great New York Post commas. He covers real estate, restaurants,
- 53:43Speaker 3: what's going on in New York, what's the state of
- 53:45Speaker 3: the city, tourists, office space, restaurants. We'll get to all
- 53:48Speaker 3: of that coming up next on seven to ten wor.
- 53:52Speaker 1: Marnimone on seven ten WR.
- 54:02Speaker 3: Well, looking for Steve Cuzo. We'll find him, We'll track
- 54:06Speaker 3: him down. The snow is coming. It's going to begin
- 54:10Speaker 3: after midnight on Saturday, could be as early as one am,
- 54:13Speaker 3: more likely around three or four am on Saturday night.
- 54:16Speaker 3: So we'll start when you wake up Sunday. It'll be snowing.
- 54:19Speaker 3: It'll continue all day long, all days, just won't stop,
- 54:24Speaker 3: and it'll go overnight Sunday night into Monday. Might stop
- 54:29Speaker 3: Monday morning, but then come back just a little Monday afternoon,
- 54:34Speaker 3: and then by the time it's all over. Expects six
- 54:36Speaker 3: to eight inches. There's various models. One model shows four inches,
- 54:41Speaker 3: one shows twelve, but most of them showing six to
- 54:43Speaker 3: eight inches. So it'll be a mess. Hey, Steve Cuzo
- 54:47Speaker 3: is the great columnist New York Post. Nobody better on
- 54:51Speaker 3: real estate restaurants, and what's going on in New York.
- 54:53Speaker 3: Steve Cuzo, how you doing?
- 54:55Speaker 8: Hey, good morning.
- 54:56Speaker 19: I can't wait for this blizzard because I have a
- 55:00Speaker 19: could source, Mark that tells me there's going to be
- 55:03Speaker 19: no inches.
- 55:05Speaker 3: Well, I don't know who that source is.
- 55:07Speaker 19: It's another one of these overhyped phenomena, you know, I
- 55:11Speaker 19: don't know.
- 55:11Speaker 3: It looks like from our best weather people, it's locked
- 55:14Speaker 3: in at this point. It's not gonna I know, I know,
- 55:16Speaker 3: I know.
- 55:17Speaker 8: Here we go.
- 55:17Speaker 3: Hey, Hey, Yeah, from what I can see from your
- 55:20Speaker 3: columns you're reporting and everything else I can see in here,
- 55:24Speaker 3: Manhattan real estate is booming.
- 55:26Speaker 8: Is that really the Yeah, it's yeah, it's not.
- 55:29Speaker 19: It's the whole city, but especially Manhattan's a phenomenon. You know,
- 55:33Speaker 19: last night, I don't know if you were there, Mark,
- 55:36Speaker 19: but it was a Real Estate Board of New York's
- 55:39Speaker 19: annual gala event, biggest party in real estate and at
- 55:44Speaker 19: the it was at the Waldorf Astoria, and which was
- 55:47Speaker 19: a great thing because they for one year they didn't
- 55:50Speaker 19: do it because of COVID. Then three years was at
- 55:53Speaker 19: this event space on the far West Side that nobody
- 55:56Speaker 19: wanted to go to. And so now it's back in
- 55:59Speaker 19: full for us at the Waldorf for the first time.
- 56:01Speaker 19: And you know, the Waldorf is the new Waldorf is
- 56:04Speaker 19: quite spectacular, and it was a party.
- 56:07Speaker 8: It was a celebration.
- 56:09Speaker 19: Had all these real estate people, both commercial and residential,
- 56:13Speaker 19: having a blast, and they were well dressed, and it
- 56:16Speaker 19: really felt like a celebration. That said, you know, when
- 56:19Speaker 19: I worried about Trump, when I worried about Mamdani, when
- 56:22Speaker 19: I worried about you know whatever, Greenland, we had a great.
- 56:27Speaker 8: Year and they did.
- 56:29Speaker 19: You know, there were a record number of excuse me,
- 56:33Speaker 19: commercial market which I cover, leasing was over the moon
- 56:38Speaker 19: building sales which had really lacked behind the leasing improvement
- 56:42Speaker 19: over the since the end of the pandemic. And last
- 56:46Speaker 19: year it was like eleven billion dollars of investment sales,
- 56:51Speaker 19: which means that's the term for sales of buildings and
- 56:56Speaker 19: selling office buildings. First time in five year years there
- 57:00Speaker 19: was a sale for over a billion dollars five ninety
- 57:04Speaker 19: Park Avenue on Madison Avenue. So real estate is doing
- 57:09Speaker 19: phenomenally well. The only thing I don't believe is doing
- 57:11Speaker 19: as well as they say is retail. You know, I
- 57:16Speaker 19: get tired of reading all these wonderful surveys by all
- 57:18Speaker 19: the brokerages, by the Business Improvement districts, by the Real
- 57:22Speaker 19: Estate Board of New York itself, about how you know,
- 57:25Speaker 19: record retail leasing, this that, and I walk around and.
- 57:29Speaker 8: I see gazillions of empty stores. But you know, it's
- 57:32Speaker 8: a matter of there's a lot of nuance.
- 57:35Speaker 3: But that real estate, real estate stuff. That's not a
- 57:37Speaker 3: factor of Mandani or leadership. That's just retail diying.
- 57:41Speaker 8: No, no, no, Also residential sales.
- 57:44Speaker 19: This is not my field of expertise, as you know,
- 57:46Speaker 19: but from everything I'm told and everything I read in
- 57:49Speaker 19: the post and elsewhere, a great year for the residential market.
- 57:54Speaker 19: Super high sales of luxury condos and co ops, co
- 57:59Speaker 19: ops to the real rally after a couple of years
- 58:02Speaker 19: of playing second fiddle to condos. A lot of people
- 58:05Speaker 19: don't want co ops anymore, but they bounce back to
- 58:08Speaker 19: So yeah, it's a hell of a good sign for
- 58:11Speaker 19: the city as a whole, no matter what happens on
- 58:13Speaker 19: the social front.
- 58:14Speaker 8: You know, all the problems with the.
- 58:17Speaker 19: Schools, which Mondani is only likely to make worse.
- 58:22Speaker 8: So yeah, it was. It was a banner year.
- 58:24Speaker 3: One of those jentas is yelling everybody's leaving New York.
- 58:27Speaker 3: It's not true. It's not true, of course not.
- 58:30Speaker 8: It's never been true. And uh in the past. I
- 58:33Speaker 8: remember when when Trump.
- 58:34Speaker 19: Got elected, people everybody was leaving the country, remember that one.
- 58:37Speaker 8: Yeah, and then when you got reelected, there was there
- 58:40Speaker 8: was nobody left to leap because everybody had already left.
- 58:44Speaker 19: So yeah, these things. Look, you know, we've got to
- 58:47Speaker 19: sell papers. Broadcast media has to attract the viewers.
- 58:52Speaker 3: Uh.
- 58:52Speaker 19: Social media just has to make a lot of noise
- 58:55Speaker 19: whenever they can. So uh yeah, I don't have any
- 58:59Speaker 19: good feelings whatever about Mamdani. And yet I think that
- 59:03Speaker 19: commercial real estate, especially is oblivious to this. The only
- 59:07Speaker 19: thing that could be harmful is if the governor, you know,
- 59:11Speaker 19: caves in and gives in too Mumdanni's pipe dream of
- 59:17Speaker 19: raising taxes on corporations and everything. She wouldn't do that
- 59:21Speaker 19: this year because she's up for reelection, but next year
- 59:24Speaker 19: the following year could be a problem.
- 59:26Speaker 8: But commercial real estate is so strong.
- 59:29Speaker 19: It's the driver of the New York economy, not just
- 59:32Speaker 19: the city, but the state, and it's a power behind
- 59:36Speaker 19: the entire national economy. Real estate taxes from real estate
- 59:42Speaker 19: contribute more to the city Treasury than any other than
- 59:47Speaker 19: anything else more than Wall Street, for example.
- 59:49Speaker 8: Most people don't know that, but it's a fact.
- 59:53Speaker 3: So when you see stores closed, wait where you read
- 59:55Speaker 3: about the Sacks going bankrupt? This the only reason for
- 59:59Speaker 3: that is online. It has nothing to do with New York, right.
- 1:00:02Speaker 19: Well, it has, it's online shopping is a factor. But
- 1:00:05Speaker 19: you notice that Bloomingdale's is doing fine, Macy's is doing fine.
- 1:00:10Speaker 8: Nord Stream is having no problem.
- 1:00:11Speaker 19: In the case of Sacks Global, the parents company which
- 1:00:16Speaker 19: includes Sacks and Nieman Marcus, which they stupidly bought about
- 1:00:20Speaker 19: a year and a half ago, and Burgdorf Goodman, the
- 1:00:23Speaker 19: only Burgdorf Goodman in the world is right here in
- 1:00:26Speaker 19: New York on Fifth Avenue, that was a lot of
- 1:00:28Speaker 19: mismanagement and a lot of needless over expansion.
- 1:00:34Speaker 8: You know, retail is not my forte.
- 1:00:36Speaker 19: But I do know I'm very skeptical of all large
- 1:00:41Speaker 19: sized mergers and acquisitions because inevitably any merger or acquisition
- 1:00:48Speaker 19: uh saddles the company with enormous debt, and they basically
- 1:00:53Speaker 19: served to. I mean, they can have their you know,
- 1:00:55Speaker 19: good consequences as well. But I believe that I remember
- 1:00:59Speaker 19: aol Time Warner once upon a time. Right, all they
- 1:01:02Speaker 19: do is saddle the company with debt and they and
- 1:01:05Speaker 19: they enrich all the excuse me, all the inside players,
- 1:01:09Speaker 19: corporate executives, investment bankers, lawyers, accountants, consultants.
- 1:01:16Speaker 8: At the expense of everybody else. Anyway, in the case
- 1:01:18Speaker 8: of Sacks, the stores aren't going to close.
- 1:01:21Speaker 19: I mean they are going to close a few stores
- 1:01:23Speaker 19: outside of New York, yes, but it looks like they're
- 1:01:27Speaker 19: on their way to restructuring. They're getting a cash or
- 1:01:31Speaker 19: liquidity infusion, and presumably life and business will go on
- 1:01:39Speaker 19: here as it did in the past, at least from
- 1:01:40Speaker 19: the consumer's point of view. If you go to Sacks
- 1:01:43Speaker 19: right now, they're stretching the merchandise. You can see it
- 1:01:46Speaker 19: on the shelves, but because they weren't paying their vendors.
- 1:01:49Speaker 8: But I think that's going to change.
- 1:01:51Speaker 3: Hey, Steve Kisser, there's a lot of skyscrapers going up.
- 1:01:54Speaker 3: I mean one hundred stories, seventy story, sixty stories, They're
- 1:01:57Speaker 3: going up all over the place, fifty seventh Street, Park Avenue, Addison.
- 1:02:00Speaker 3: So can we handle all that extra traffic here?
- 1:02:05Speaker 8: You mean, do you mean crowding? Mark?
- 1:02:07Speaker 3: What do yours?
- 1:02:09Speaker 8: Ye?
- 1:02:10Speaker 19: New York has always been overcrowded. I say, the more overcrowding,
- 1:02:14Speaker 19: the better. It's it means life, it means people spending money. Uh,
- 1:02:19Speaker 19: it makes it's what makes the city exciting, why people
- 1:02:22Speaker 19: want to come here, where they want to be here.
- 1:02:24Speaker 19: So over the Christmas holidays, you know, my office is
- 1:02:28Speaker 19: two blocks away from the Rockefeller Center tree, and I
- 1:02:31Speaker 19: hated every minute of it, of the six weeks between
- 1:02:34Speaker 19: roughly Thanksgiving and you know, right after New Year's and.
- 1:02:38Speaker 8: Because you couldn't move on the streets.
- 1:02:41Speaker 19: I couldn't literally couldn't get into the subway right next
- 1:02:43Speaker 19: door to my building because I had to fight my
- 1:02:45Speaker 19: way through crowds.
- 1:02:46Speaker 8: And yet that's a selfish concern.
- 1:02:49Speaker 19: The bigger picture is that it's it's life, it's energy,
- 1:02:54Speaker 19: and it's commitment, and it's well for New York City.
- 1:02:57Speaker 8: So I'm a I'm all for that.
- 1:02:59Speaker 3: Yeah, you got a lot of hot new restaurants that
- 1:03:01Speaker 3: are I mean, have we ever had this many jam
- 1:03:03Speaker 3: Peck restaurants in New York?
- 1:03:06Speaker 8: I don't know.
- 1:03:06Speaker 19: It depends the good restaurants, the important restaurants, the ones
- 1:03:11Speaker 19: that are backed by big money. I think I'd never
- 1:03:13Speaker 19: done better. There's a squeeze in the middle and at
- 1:03:17Speaker 19: the lower end. You know, everybody's oh, the rent is
- 1:03:20Speaker 19: too high. All that rent has always been too high.
- 1:03:24Speaker 19: But every Basically, what it comes down to is every
- 1:03:27Speaker 19: place that I go, which is by no means you know,
- 1:03:31Speaker 19: the the the only the elite restaurants, as you might think,
- 1:03:35Speaker 19: I go to all kinds of restaurants.
- 1:03:39Speaker 8: It's hard to get a table anywhere. And this is January.
- 1:03:43Speaker 19: January is traditionally the worst month for restaurants in New York.
- 1:03:46Speaker 19: I mean, in the past, you could have gotten seats
- 1:03:49Speaker 19: at when Noble was in its original location and the
- 1:03:52Speaker 19: hottest restaurant in like the country.
- 1:03:55Speaker 8: You could easily get tables at Noble the week oft
- 1:03:58Speaker 8: from the month of January. That's not true anymore.
- 1:04:02Speaker 19: And I've been to excuse me, nickid restaurants like Lusardies
- 1:04:09Speaker 19: on First Second Avenue the other night and they're all packed.
- 1:04:14Speaker 8: And this is it was about twelve degrees out. Yeah,
- 1:04:17Speaker 8: So what does that say?
- 1:04:18Speaker 3: Well, that's good. New York is booming. That's good to hear.
- 1:04:21Speaker 3: You should read Steve Cuso's columns. All his columns are
- 1:04:24Speaker 3: up on the New York Post website. You can read
- 1:04:26Speaker 3: them all there and he writes great stuff. Steve Cuso,
- 1:04:30Speaker 3: New York Post. Steve, thanks for being with us.
- 1:04:33Speaker 20: Thanks Mark, always a great time. Yeah, take care. So
- 1:04:37Speaker 20: that's all good news. New York booming. Don't listen to
- 1:04:39Speaker 20: these people about everybody leaving. It's busier than ever in
- 1:04:43Speaker 20: New York. Hey, don't forget. If you're a podcast listener,
