- 1:14[SPEAKER_02]: I'm just winging it off the top of my head.

- 2:04[SPEAKER_02]: It's a good time.
- 2:06[SPEAKER_02]: But again, happy to be here.
- 2:08[SPEAKER_02]: Training camp later this week.
- 2:10[SPEAKER_02]: Obviously, one player won't be there.
- 2:11[SPEAKER_02]: I know you guys already covered that just unbelievable.
- 2:15[SPEAKER_02]: That has.
- 2:16[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 2:18[SPEAKER_02]: It's this is one of those things where
- 2:21[SPEAKER_02]: like I know it's I think he was charged with a misdemeanor and stuff so like even if he's found guilty and whatnot like he his suspension it's it'll probably be like what Mike Hall got or something and then he'll be back and he'll probably be able to play this year but I'm wrestling with the fact like I don't even know like if the Brown should even sign up
- 2:43[SPEAKER_02]: because it's I think it's I don't want to just say I'm not a guilty until proven innocent guy but she took pictures right after and the cops said she was still bruised up five days if she still bruised up five days later what does she look like immediately after it happened I mean it's it's pretty apparent that he hit her a bunch of times and if that's the case I just don't even want that guy on my team so I like I I would
- 3:11[SPEAKER_02]: Even if he it's always just a short suspension he'll be back and like I don't just don't sign up like I don't I don't want a guy who beats up a girlfriend on my team really so I know apparently I know apparently I mean the leagues littered with them so I guess like but just me personally like it's
- 3:34[SPEAKER_02]: it'll take a while I guess to be like forget it, you know, and you probably should forget it that he beats up women.
- 3:41[SPEAKER_02]: So, I don't know.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_02]: I'm kind of on the side, like, I just, we've dealt with enough of these issues the last couple of years that
- 3:50[SPEAKER_02]: You're not committed to him.
- 3:51[SPEAKER_02]: You don't have any money invested into it.
- 3:52[SPEAKER_02]: The biggest thing you have invested in to him right now is it being the second round pick.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_02]: It's just it sucks, but just save some face and just let him be somebody else's problem.
- 4:01[SPEAKER_02]: Like we don't need to be another reclamation project for somebody.
- 4:04[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not just I just don't feel like dealing with that anymore.
- 4:07[SPEAKER_02]: So it's a stupid decision.
- 4:10[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, how stupid do you have to be?
- 4:12[SPEAKER_02]: How hard is it just not hit a woman?
- 4:15[SPEAKER_02]: Like I don't understand how hard it is to just not do it.
- 4:19[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, just doesn't matter.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_04]: Really how mad you are.
- 4:24[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, just, just on the steering wheel, punch the car, kick the tires.
- 4:29[SPEAKER_04]: Don't punch her.
- 4:31[SPEAKER_04]: Just doesn't make sense.
- 4:32[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
- 4:32[SPEAKER_02]: I don't get it.
- 4:36[SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, so I don't know, it's terrible.
- 4:38[SPEAKER_02]: And it completely changes, you know, I don't want to say like my entire outlook for the season, but I've a lot of like the little bit of positivity I had on the season, banked on him being like a new stud, workhorse, writing back for us.
- 4:53[SPEAKER_02]: And now that that's gone, it's like based on who knows what we're going to get at quarterback.
- 4:58[SPEAKER_02]: And I felt so much of what he was going to bring to the team was going to help whoever was going to be playing quarterback.
- 5:02[SPEAKER_02]: And it's just, it's a domino effect now that
- 5:06[SPEAKER_02]: To me, it just, it sets the browns back, like, almost more than you, I can even put into words because I just think it's a huge domino.
- 5:15[SPEAKER_02]: It's so, I'm not overly optimistic and I don't feel good about it.
- 5:18[SPEAKER_02]: That's for sure.
- 5:19[SPEAKER_04]: Well, I've seen a lot of people already attacking the trade, you know, because Andrew Barry in the Browns traded that number two pick with the Jag wires, collected some extra draft capital and some of that one piece of that trade was Quenchon Judkins, the thirty six overall pick from the Jag wires.
- 5:34[SPEAKER_04]: So yeah, it's just not a good start to the whole thing.
- 5:39[SPEAKER_02]: And this is one of those things to where, at least in the case of Quinshawn, it's far as I know, no red flags.
- 5:46[SPEAKER_02]: Like, as far as I know, no problems at Ohio State, no issues.
- 5:50[SPEAKER_02]: Like, with Mike Hall, after he got in trouble, we were all surprised.
- 5:53[SPEAKER_02]: And then you found out, like, oh, no, this kind of stuff was happening in college all the time.
- 5:58[SPEAKER_02]: They should have known about this kind of stuff with Quinshawn.
- 6:00[SPEAKER_02]: It's hard to put it on AB and the Browns.
- 6:03[SPEAKER_02]: It's like, it's kind of came out of left field, but at the same time, it's like,
- 6:08[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, are we just that bad a judge character?
- 6:10[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, exactly.
- 6:13[SPEAKER_02]: You know, and so it's it's super frustrating.
- 6:16[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, like, like, if you take the trade into account, if Travis Hunter goes on to just be an absolute stud, and Quintchao Jenkins is in on our team, and if we whiff on whatever we use with the pick next year, it's like, it's a Julio Jones trade all over again.
- 6:35[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so, um, and I was all cool with the trade, especially once we got quinceons that got Kenny Mac, because banging the drum for all off season.
- 6:43[SPEAKER_02]: I was team-travy on, but like obviously I was still very pro quinceon judge against, and I was super pumped when we got him.
- 6:49[SPEAKER_02]: And then for this to happen, it's just huge kick in the nuts.
- 6:55[SPEAKER_02]: Well, it's awful.
- 6:56[SPEAKER_04]: So, and then on top of that yesterday, I think it was yesterday.
- 7:00[SPEAKER_04]: All the information came out Devon Bush charged with misdemeanor simple salt and harassment for his domestic violence situation in outside of Pittsburgh, which happened in, what was that like, March?
- 7:11[SPEAKER_04]: Something like that, Aprilish?
- 7:12[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 7:15[SPEAKER_02]: I don't understand.
- 7:16[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe, different, I don't know.
- 7:18[SPEAKER_02]: How hard is it to just not hit a female?
- 7:21[SPEAKER_02]: How hard should it is?
- 7:22[SPEAKER_04]: It's like a very simple question.
- 7:25[SPEAKER_02]: It should be the simplest thing in your life.
- 7:28[SPEAKER_02]: Like, we're all married.
- 7:30[SPEAKER_02]: I'm sure our wives have all annoyed us at some point.
- 7:32[SPEAKER_02]: I've never even had the slightest inclination to hit her.
- 7:35[SPEAKER_02]: You know what I mean?
- 7:36[SPEAKER_02]: Like, it's just, I don't understand this just hitting women thing.
- 7:41[SPEAKER_02]: It's crazy.
- 7:43[SPEAKER_04]: No, so I mean, you've got people like Tyree Kill who had the situation with his kid and Adrian Peters, they're just been all these, whether it's a wife or a girlfriend or a child or just another, you know, Alma Camerra and the dude in Las Vegas, like these guys, there's some definitely some anger, rage, violence issues.
- 8:05[SPEAKER_04]: And when it comes out, it just comes out.
- 8:09[SPEAKER_02]: Well, let's keep it in people, Jesus.
- 8:11[SPEAKER_02]: And keep it on the field.
- 8:12[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 8:14[SPEAKER_02]: So we wanted to kind of, you know, I guess I was as my quick thoughts on that since I missed last week.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_02]: It was a busy week for me.
- 8:22[SPEAKER_02]: But we wanted to kind of give you a little bit of training camp inside at least from from our brains.
- 8:27[SPEAKER_02]: So we each picked a rookie to watch and training camp, a free agent to watch and a veteran that we are all watching.
- 8:33[SPEAKER_02]: So who wants to go first?
- 8:35[SPEAKER_02]: Justin, you haven't talked yet.
- 8:36[SPEAKER_02]: So I don't we just start with you.
- 8:38[SPEAKER_02]: who's the the rookie that you want that you're watching in training camp this year.
- 8:44[SPEAKER_05]: My rookie going into training camp.
- 8:46[SPEAKER_05]: I think it's going to be a lot of people's main main guy they're going to be watching.
- 8:50[SPEAKER_05]: It's going to be Shidorah Sanders.
- 8:54[SPEAKER_05]: We need an answer at quarterback.
- 8:56[SPEAKER_05]: We've got to figure out our future.
- 8:58[SPEAKER_05]: We've been trying for, you know, God knows, twenty five years and not a figure it out.
- 9:02[SPEAKER_05]: So for me, he's the guy, I'm, I'm, you could even throw Dillon Gabriel in the mix.
- 9:08[SPEAKER_05]: I am very, very hyper focused on the rookie quarterbacks.
- 9:11[SPEAKER_05]: Let's figure out what our future is.
- 9:13[SPEAKER_05]: We have a first round pick next year that everybody pretty much is said, hey, this is who we're taking at quarterback.
- 9:19[SPEAKER_05]: If that's the case,
- 9:21[SPEAKER_05]: And we traded back to get all these picks in to get that picked.
- 9:24[SPEAKER_05]: And why do we take two rookies this year?
- 9:26[SPEAKER_05]: Like, I want to, I'd like some clarity on that.
- 9:30[SPEAKER_05]: So my hope is that one of these two dudes can be the guy moving forward.
- 9:35[SPEAKER_05]: And then you address the multiple issues that you have at offensive line safety.
- 9:39[SPEAKER_05]: Hell, wide receiver.
- 9:41[SPEAKER_05]: Maybe running back now again.
- 9:42[SPEAKER_05]: So it's not like we couldn't use that extra first round pick for other things, but I'm very very focused on whether we have an answer at quarterback the most important position in the game.
- 9:55[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I talked to Damon Wolf from that in motion football.
- 9:59[SPEAKER_04]: The other day, Justin and we talked about the rookie quarterbacks and he said from his evaluation, first of all, he does a lot of draft scouting and that kind of stuff analysis.
- 10:09[SPEAKER_04]: He said she doorstanders was easily his number two quarterback.
- 10:11[SPEAKER_04]: It was he's number twenty seven player overall in the draft class.
- 10:15[SPEAKER_04]: He said whenever they took Gabriel, he saw that as the Brown saying, okay, we got a guy that fits the system, fits what Kevin wants.
- 10:21[SPEAKER_04]: He's very cerebral.
- 10:22[SPEAKER_04]: He's a type of player.
- 10:23[SPEAKER_04]: They went in the quarterback room.
- 10:24[SPEAKER_04]: If he develops into a starter, great, but their hope for him was probably long-term back up.
- 10:29[SPEAKER_04]: Just solidify the backup position.
- 10:31[SPEAKER_04]: Then when Chador was there in the fifth round, it was like, well, we can't just keep passing this up.
- 10:35[SPEAKER_04]: We got a swing on it.
- 10:36[SPEAKER_04]: So I think, based, that's what he said anyway was the assessment on how it came to be that we got both these guys.
- 10:41[SPEAKER_04]: Right.
- 10:42[SPEAKER_02]: So here's my question.
- 10:44[SPEAKER_02]: If he's thinking that their thought process was long term backup, why are we addressing long term backup before addressing starter?
- 10:54[SPEAKER_02]: You know what I mean?
- 10:57[SPEAKER_02]: Why is our focus?
- 10:58[SPEAKER_02]: Like, let's get out of this draft with a backup, a long term solution at backup.
- 11:03[SPEAKER_02]: Who he's backing up?
- 11:05[SPEAKER_02]: Nobody knows.
- 11:06[SPEAKER_02]: So which means he'll probably just get forced into being a starter, having his confidence killed, getting injured, and then being ruined, and then he won't be the long term backup.
- 11:14[SPEAKER_02]: Like, what are we doing?
- 11:15[SPEAKER_02]: If that's really the thought process.
- 11:17[SPEAKER_05]: If it's anything, you know, like my entire life watching this team, the backup quarterback is probably the most important position you could have on this team.
- 11:27[SPEAKER_05]: You're definitely gonna see playing time without a doubt, you know, hell, you could be the fourth quarterback and you're probably gonna see playing time.
- 11:35[SPEAKER_04]: Okay, I mean, Blake's right, too, because we do this all the time, like Cody Custler and you know, all these guys that we drafted years and years over, it seems like it's their backup quarterbacks that get thrust into the starting spot.
- 11:47[SPEAKER_04]: My only thing though with why they would address that position and not the starters, they didn't believe there was a starter worth taking in this draft.
- 11:54[SPEAKER_04]: That's the only explanation I can think of.
- 11:58[SPEAKER_05]: Sure.
- 11:59[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, I mean, I make sense.
- 12:00[SPEAKER_05]: And especially if you once you hear like, oh, well, the extra twenty twenty six pair of first round is going to be for a quarterback.
- 12:06[SPEAKER_05]: You've heard that kind of leaked out a couple of times.
- 12:09[SPEAKER_05]: It's, I mean, it makes sense.
- 12:11[SPEAKER_05]: I don't know.
- 12:12[SPEAKER_05]: I would like to give that kid a shot.
- 12:14[SPEAKER_05]: You know what I mean?
- 12:15[SPEAKER_05]: Everybody thought he was first round second round talent.
- 12:18[SPEAKER_05]: He slid to the fifth.
- 12:19[SPEAKER_05]: My opinion is you're getting a steal.
- 12:22[SPEAKER_05]: You're getting a chance where you can save your salary cap basically with two rookie quarterbacks on your team that you drafted.
- 12:29[SPEAKER_05]: I at least, I pray that we have an opportunity to see this kid play because, you know, I really do, there's flashes.
- 12:38[SPEAKER_05]: You see flashes where you're like, there's something there.
- 12:40[SPEAKER_05]: I just would like to be proven wrong on it.
- 12:48[SPEAKER_02]: No, I agree.
- 12:49[SPEAKER_02]: I think
- 12:52[SPEAKER_02]: I think Stores can be the guy.
- 12:53[SPEAKER_02]: But I'm also very nervous that the Browns are going to screw it up.
- 13:00[SPEAKER_02]: And if they really viewed the that the Dylan Gabriel as a long term backup solution.
- 13:10[SPEAKER_02]: Then, to me, that undermines the argument of, well, they're going to give Dylan Gabriel ever chance to win the job in, you know, be the guy.
- 13:18[SPEAKER_02]: Because if they didn't take him with the intention to be the guy, then you'd be like, well, let's see, Shouldower can be the guy.
- 13:25[SPEAKER_02]: You know what I mean?
- 13:26[SPEAKER_02]: Like, to me, if the plane was never for Dylan Gabriel to be the starter, if this view him is a long-term backup, then why would you take reps away from the guy who, by all accounts?
- 13:37[SPEAKER_02]: is a better quarterback.
- 13:38[SPEAKER_02]: I don't, there's nobody in this on the planet who thought Dylan Gabriel was a better quarterback than Shador Sanders.
- 13:44[SPEAKER_02]: So don't take reps from that guy to give to the guy that you've viewed as a backup in the first place or this or this don't draft shit or
- 13:53[SPEAKER_05]: if you know what I mean like it's sometimes the we draft night we kind of like man this is all over the place the more I think that I like the draft so what I'm like man sometimes I feel like it just kind of gets a little chaotic
- 14:08[SPEAKER_02]: And then just not fine with taking two quarterbacks.
- 14:11[SPEAKER_02]: I wanted to run it up basically since last year, but I figured they would take one at two and yeah, just not this order.
- 14:16[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, five.
- 14:18[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 14:18[SPEAKER_04]: So what about you Josh?
- 14:20[SPEAKER_04]: Well, we real quick, this is something, I just want to throw this in there.
- 14:23[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, Justin talked about this.
- 14:24[SPEAKER_04]: I've asked people on social media, they're opinion on this, just to kind of gauge where the fan base is at and what people are thinking.
- 14:30[SPEAKER_04]: What's our confidence level in this coaching staff in this front office and this just browns regime right now in evaluating the quarterback position during training camp for the season like do we think they come out of training camp with the correct best quarterback at the top of the depth chart and the correct worst quarterback at the bottom?
- 14:48[SPEAKER_04]: I'm like I'm worried like you just said like that they're going to screw it up.
- 14:52[SPEAKER_04]: that even if she doors the best guy, I don't know if they will see it properly.
- 14:59[SPEAKER_02]: So here's my thing is if he is the best guy, I guess I don't necessarily need him to start week one because
- 15:09[SPEAKER_02]: If they think he's potentially the future, don't this throw him to the wolves?
- 15:13[SPEAKER_02]: You know what I mean?
- 15:15[SPEAKER_02]: Patrick Mahomes was clearly the best quarterback on the Chiefs roster and he's still set for a year.
- 15:21[SPEAKER_02]: But at least make sure you're properly evaluating him so you know.
- 15:27[SPEAKER_02]: He's not going to start week one, but we're probably going to move to Shador at some point in the season and see some live game action.
- 15:35[SPEAKER_02]: you can't just stick them on the in as water boy in practice you know what I mean and get a proper valuation like that so that's why it's at least encouraging during like the OTAs and stuff that he was working on a separate field and still getting reps and not just being a back of water boy out there because I don't necessarily if if one of the rookies they deem is
- 15:57[SPEAKER_02]: The clear option, the best quarterback in of the, you know, I think he's going to be the future.
- 16:02[SPEAKER_02]: I don't necessarily, even though I liked for them to start week one, you know, just in terms of me watching, but I understand why you wouldn't just throw that guy to the most, especially the beginning of our schedules brutal.
- 16:13[SPEAKER_02]: So I wouldn't
- 16:17[SPEAKER_02]: I guess who finishes week one.
- 16:19[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think there is the starter week one.
- 16:22[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if it matters as much.
- 16:24[SPEAKER_02]: To be honest, I don't think we're winning the fucking hardly any games anyways.
- 16:27[SPEAKER_02]: So like at this point this season is basically
- 16:33[SPEAKER_02]: evaluating and make sure you're doing a proper job evaluating.
- 16:36[SPEAKER_02]: So to answer your question, I don't know if the best guy is going to start week one or not.
- 16:40[SPEAKER_02]: I have a feeling it's going to be Joe or Kenny.
- 16:42[SPEAKER_02]: And I think if all things are equal, at the end of like, at the end of the season, Shoulders are best quarterback.
- 16:51[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe he isn't yet, but I think he has the best tools.
- 16:55[SPEAKER_02]: And he's not forty eight years old.
- 16:57[SPEAKER_02]: So.
- 17:00[SPEAKER_02]: So we'll see what happens in that regard, but I don't think the week one starter necessarily means best quarterback on the roster.
- 17:07[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, and I guess when I say like top of the depth chart, I know I was talking QB one, but even like QB two, does the do they properly evaluate and have the correct, basically are they coming out of this with the two rookies correctly evaluated?
- 17:18[SPEAKER_04]: And I just don't know, because this is the team that also said, DTR is ready to be QB two as a rookie.
- 17:25[SPEAKER_04]: He's ready to start.
- 17:26[SPEAKER_04]: He's ready to be this.
- 17:27[SPEAKER_04]: And it's like, no, he's never going to be ready to play in the NFL.
- 17:32[SPEAKER_02]: That when they traded, uh, yes.
- 17:38[SPEAKER_02]: We all hated it.
- 17:39[SPEAKER_04]: And we talked ourselves into why it was okay.
- 17:43[SPEAKER_02]: And then it came back.
- 17:45[SPEAKER_02]: Now, I think the huge difference between that season and this season was season expectations.
- 17:50[SPEAKER_02]: But we're like, we're super bowl contenders.
- 17:52[SPEAKER_02]: We don't want our backup to be a rookie never played quarterback this year.
- 17:58[SPEAKER_02]: It doesn't matter who our backup quarterback is.
- 18:01[SPEAKER_02]: You know what the starting quarterback.
- 18:03[SPEAKER_02]: I don't see us win in many games.
- 18:05[SPEAKER_02]: So you're your expectations for the season.
- 18:07[SPEAKER_02]: I think strongly dictate kind of the order in which you're going to place those quarterbacks.
- 18:12[SPEAKER_02]: I guess the bigger question for me would be at the end of training camp.
- 18:16[SPEAKER_02]: Who were the three quarterbacks that we keep and who's going to be the odd one out that is on a different team.
- 18:22[SPEAKER_04]: It's fair.
- 18:22[SPEAKER_04]: That's that is definitely a big question for the next month.
- 18:28[SPEAKER_04]: This episode is sponsored by Manly Bands.
- 18:31[SPEAKER_04]: Browns fans head over to ManlyBands.com slash dogs right now to get thirty percent off site wide for the founders favorite sale.
- 18:39[SPEAKER_04]: The founder, John and his birthday and they want to celebrate the manliest way possible by putting his favorite rings on sale.

- 20:02[SPEAKER_04]: Josh, what about you?
- 20:03[SPEAKER_04]: What book are you watching?
- 20:05[SPEAKER_04]: Okay, so I went with a UDFA, so not a guy that we drafted because going to the draft when we talked about hey, we took the two quarterbacks.
- 20:12[SPEAKER_04]: Well, there was opportunity cost with doing that.
- 20:14[SPEAKER_04]: There was a safety on the board.
- 20:17[SPEAKER_04]: Xavier Watts that I really wanted the Browns to take when they took Dylan Gabriel.
- 20:21[SPEAKER_04]: There were other guys on the board when we in the fifth round traded up for Shador.
- 20:24[SPEAKER_04]: So we just completely bypassed safety altogether, but we signed Donovan Dick Millen out of pit.
- 20:30[SPEAKER_04]: Six one, one, ninety seven.
- 20:31[SPEAKER_04]: He's twenty three years old.
- 20:33[SPEAKER_04]: He started off college two seasons at Florida in a reserve roll.
- 20:36[SPEAKER_04]: Then he transferred to pit in twenty twenty three.
- 20:38[SPEAKER_04]: And when he got the pit, he had a hundred plus tackles in both of his seasons there.
- 20:43[SPEAKER_04]: He had a TFL in each season plus last year and twenty four.
- 20:45[SPEAKER_04]: He had his first interception.
- 20:47[SPEAKER_04]: So the reason why I wanted to talk about Donovan McMillan won, I consider doing Harold Fanon Jr.
- 20:52[SPEAKER_04]: here, but we've talked about him a ton in the last couple months, so I don't want to keep repeating that stuff.
- 20:58[SPEAKER_04]: Two of the safety positions is probably our weakest position on defense.
- 21:01[SPEAKER_04]: It's definitely the most shallow in terms of like proven starting talent.
- 21:05[SPEAKER_04]: Grant Delpit obviously is a lock.
- 21:07[SPEAKER_04]: He's a stud.
- 21:08[SPEAKER_04]: We like Ronnie Hickman, but I don't know, like, is he ready to step into a full-time starter role?
- 21:13[SPEAKER_04]: I like what they did with the depth signings.
- 21:15[SPEAKER_04]: They got the Montaicasi and Rishon Jenkins, but, you know, having a UDFA again at safety is interesting to me because Andrew Barry, the front office, they just have a track record of finding some hidden gems at this position.
- 21:28[SPEAKER_04]: We know going into like the last couple of seasons, they usually keep five safety's.
- 21:33[SPEAKER_04]: So Ken McMillan be the next UDFA to crack the roster after they had the Anthony Bell a few years ago and then Ronnie Hickman.
- 21:43[SPEAKER_02]: Now it's good because they let the Anthony Bell walk.
- 21:47[SPEAKER_02]: So if they let them walk and then you can replace them with another UDFA that's intriguing.
- 21:54[SPEAKER_02]: I was sad to see Anthony Anthony Bell go.
- 21:57[SPEAKER_04]: Oh for sure.
- 21:58[SPEAKER_04]: But this guy is kind of what Anthony Bell was coming in as a UDFA as well.
- 22:03[SPEAKER_04]: He's a great tackler.
- 22:05[SPEAKER_04]: He's very physical.
- 22:06[SPEAKER_04]: He's got a lot of refinement to work as far as like his coverage skills and things like that.
- 22:09[SPEAKER_04]: But he's a UDFA and he played pretty well in the the hundred plus tackles in the last two seasons really popped off the the page to me because that means he's coming in.
- 22:17[SPEAKER_04]: He's not missing a lot of tackles when he gets an opportunity to put a guy on the ground.
- 22:21[SPEAKER_04]: He's doing it.
- 22:22[SPEAKER_04]: Yep.
- 22:23[SPEAKER_02]: I mean special teams.
- 22:23[SPEAKER_02]: He fits of line and and linebackers aren't making many tackles.
- 22:28[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, true.
- 22:31[SPEAKER_02]: What about also it's my turn now.
- 22:33[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I have a said what about Justin.
- 22:35[SPEAKER_02]: So the rookie I'm watching now.
- 22:38[SPEAKER_02]: This is changed.
- 22:39[SPEAKER_02]: because of recent events, I'm going Dylan Samson.
- 22:44[SPEAKER_02]: I think a huge part of this offense is going to be getting back to the the run game and the way we used to implement it with Nick Chub.
- 22:53[SPEAKER_02]: And before we had Ken Dorsey, and I thought a huge linchpin of that was going to be Quinshot Judkins.
- 22:58[SPEAKER_02]: And I was extremely excited to not have to watch Jerome Ford carry the load for the Browns.
- 23:04[SPEAKER_02]: And so now I'm shifting my focus to Dylan Samson, who I think
- 23:09[SPEAKER_02]: Well, a lot of people was kind of where we got him.
- 23:10[SPEAKER_02]: It was kind of a steal in the draft.
- 23:14[SPEAKER_02]: So I want to see, I want to see what he looks like in camp at Kenny.
- 23:17[SPEAKER_02]: Does he have the ability to be a workhorse back for his house's past blocking Kenny be a three down back for us?
- 23:23[SPEAKER_02]: Because I don't want Jerome forward to be that if Jerome forward is our day one starting three down running back.
- 23:30[SPEAKER_02]: Offences in trouble again in my opinion.
- 23:33[SPEAKER_02]: And I know, I think it was the Bearder Browns guy's put out a stat that said, if Jerome Ford wasn't hitting the backfield, he average, I think like seven point three yards per carry last year, which was second only to Derek Henry.
- 23:44[SPEAKER_02]: The problem is this is the NFL.
- 23:46[SPEAKER_02]: You get hit in the backfield sometimes.
- 23:48[SPEAKER_02]: You know what I mean?
- 23:49[SPEAKER_02]: And you got it.
- 23:50[SPEAKER_02]: And a lot of times if he got hit in the backfield, I won't say all
- 23:54[SPEAKER_02]: a decent amount of times because he's just pussy footing around and can't find the hole and he doesn't know where to go and he's indecisive.
- 24:02[SPEAKER_02]: So then of course he can take it in the backfield.
- 24:04[SPEAKER_02]: So I just I'm interested in seeing if Dylan Samson can now step in and be the guy in the run game for the Browns because I've watched enough Jerome Ford.
- 24:16[SPEAKER_02]: and then after after drum forward what is it here strong like if quick on suspended you got it we're gonna go get another running back right yeah yeah who's even out who's even out there I said the two that came to my head immediately were zik and gusset words yeah those were the two that popped right into my head where I was like they're out there you know zik man he he didn't got much left in the take no and gusset was like an either
- 24:41[SPEAKER_02]: He's a great pass blocker and he's kind of turned into like a decent goal line back.
- 24:46[SPEAKER_02]: But he's not going to give you much else in terms of explosive plays, which I guess if he can come in and kind of be your you're battering ram and then Samsung can kind of be your home run threat.
- 24:59[SPEAKER_02]: talk about just a turn of events to go from like holy crap this brown's backfield is dynamic again like we're back to having prime chub and just out of prime cream hunt like this is going to be exciting to all men hopefully Gus Edwards or Zkele come in and average two point nine yards of carry for us like come on just don't hate I know I'll say this I do think Samsung can be
- 25:26[SPEAKER_05]: He can be nice for us.
- 25:28[SPEAKER_05]: Last year with Tennessee, the dude was a stud.
- 25:30[SPEAKER_05]: He had almost three hundred carries.
- 25:32[SPEAKER_05]: You know what I mean?
- 25:32[SPEAKER_05]: It's not there's not a doubt of like whether he can do it.
- 25:35[SPEAKER_05]: I think he can absolutely do it and he's absolutely dynamic enough to do it.
- 25:39[SPEAKER_05]: My problem was as you had Judkins in front of him, we didn't need to see it.
- 25:43[SPEAKER_05]: I think there's a chance you're going to see it now because I think legends is going to be cooked for five games, at least.
- 25:49[SPEAKER_05]: At least.
- 25:50[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, they have anything signed up and now the reports are like, they're not eating.
- 25:53[SPEAKER_02]: They're not eating.
- 25:54[SPEAKER_02]: They're not eating.
- 25:54[SPEAKER_02]: They're not eating.
- 25:55[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, they say.
- 25:56[SPEAKER_02]: They're going to let this figure itself out.
- 25:58[SPEAKER_02]: And I have a feeling like if it turns out, if this investigation shows like there's a history of this, this wasn't a one-off like
- 26:06[SPEAKER_02]: I'm getting this, I'm just kind of getting the sense from the Browns like that they're thinking like me like we can't sign another guy like this right now, especially we're not already money committed to them.
- 26:14[SPEAKER_02]: So like if I think if this investigation turns out and there's a history and it's ugly, I don't even know if he's ever going to put on a Browns uniform in a regular season.
- 26:25[SPEAKER_04]: what's just what's crazy too is you know he was holding out the reason he wasn't signed was the same reason the thirty out of the thirty two second round picks weren't signed yet because they were holding out for full of guaranteed contracts which is the browns were one of the only two teams to do that with Carson swishing her and then judkins was with the other guys just kind of holding out for that trade on Henderson who went what a picker two after judkins or something like that just got his deal full of guaranteed the other day so judkins would have not had this situation
- 26:52[SPEAKER_04]: reported to camp yesterday with all the other rookies.
- 26:55[SPEAKER_04]: He, ninety nine percent likely would have had a fully guaranteed second round contract.
- 27:02[SPEAKER_02]: It's just sucks.
- 27:04[SPEAKER_04]: Yep.
- 27:04[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it sucks.
- 27:05[SPEAKER_02]: This and I just like to remind everybody that I was the guy who sang, we should try to go at Henderson.
- 27:11[SPEAKER_05]: That's, you can't do that.
- 27:12[SPEAKER_05]: You can't, when they board and quarterback that crap.
- 27:16[SPEAKER_02]: It's a money morning quarterback.
- 27:17[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, there's a lot of video evidence of me saying I was taking a trip out.
- 27:20[SPEAKER_02]: It's fair.
- 27:21[SPEAKER_02]: All right.
- 27:23[SPEAKER_02]: So why don't we then move into free agent just and let's go back to you.
- 27:27[SPEAKER_02]: What free agent are you watching for the Browns?
- 27:30[SPEAKER_05]: I got to know what we have with the entage onsen.
- 27:35[SPEAKER_05]: I'm very, he's a guy, and now this is all dependent on quarterback play also.
- 27:41[SPEAKER_05]: You know what I mean?
- 27:42[SPEAKER_05]: Like whether we have competent quarterback play, he's a guy that, you know, he kind of was a nightmare for us.
- 27:49[SPEAKER_05]: You know, when we used with Pittsburgh for years, he was very dependable.
- 27:55[SPEAKER_05]: We have clearing, clearing holes if I receive her.
- 27:57[SPEAKER_05]: There is not really any depth behind Jerry Judy.
- 28:01[SPEAKER_05]: And then, you know, if you want to throw a toolman and also, if you think, you know, he's a solid, solid option and why we're seeing her too, behind that it's, it's not good.
- 28:10[SPEAKER_05]: There's not a lot.
- 28:11[SPEAKER_05]: You got a lot of injury prone guys.
- 28:13[SPEAKER_05]: You've got a lot of guys that haven't proven anything and then you have workies that haven't really proven it.
- 28:19[SPEAKER_05]: If Dante Johnson can show up in a good headspace and be a dependable, like let's say, Y receiver three or Y receiver two and be just a decent shell of himself that he was two years ago or even the first four games of last year with Carolina, he could be a factor for this team.
- 28:35[SPEAKER_05]: We don't, we have Nejoku, we have Judy, and then after that it's what do we have?
- 28:42[SPEAKER_05]: And there is touches to be had out there.
- 28:45[SPEAKER_05]: If he can be the guy and I think that he could absolutely be a library see for two library see for three on this team.
- 28:53[SPEAKER_02]: Now, I think I said, like, a month or so ago that if his head's on straight and he's locked in, he could be the steal of free agency.
- 29:01[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 29:02[SPEAKER_02]: Depending on the quarterback play, we get obviously.
- 29:03[SPEAKER_02]: But yeah.
- 29:04[SPEAKER_02]: The fact that we got him, what it league that minimum, you know, and no guaranteed money really, like we could just cut bait if he's not in.
- 29:13[SPEAKER_02]: It's one of the things where, like you said, he's kind of a nightmare for us.
- 29:17[SPEAKER_02]: He's a great route runner, separation guy, like he
- 29:21[SPEAKER_02]: He's open a lot if he's drops or under control in.
- 29:26[SPEAKER_02]: even if he drops the ball, like the rate that he has in his career, he still put up numbers.
- 29:31[SPEAKER_02]: The drops are frustrating, but he still has put up good numbers.
- 29:34[SPEAKER_02]: The touchdowns lack, but you know, bad quarterback play in Pittsburgh also and just bad offense in general.
- 29:40[SPEAKER_02]: So to me, like that's a, he could be the huge difference for this offense being what kind of like what it was last year or kind of taking a step in the right direction, at least with some explosive plays.
- 29:52[SPEAKER_04]: So I think that's a good one.
- 29:55[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, one thing with the down to Johnson, I just want to remind everybody, I found these stats put this out on social media a couple weeks ago, I think.
- 30:02[SPEAKER_04]: And we, I know we're kind of guilty of doing this over the last couple of months talking about these receivers and all, you know, kind of put down to Johnson in the slot, but we went, I went and looked.
- 30:10[SPEAKER_04]: Over his career, only fourteen percent of his career routes have been run out of the slot.
- 30:14[SPEAKER_04]: He's an eighty-six percent out wide guy.
- 30:16[SPEAKER_04]: He's an outside receiver.
- 30:18[SPEAKER_04]: Actually, Jerry duties are closest receiver to being fifty-fifty split.
- 30:21[SPEAKER_04]: So this could be where if we're running a three-wide receiver set, which might not be that much this year, you're going to have Tillman and Deonte Johnson on the outside with Jerry duty in the slot, because that's where he can kind of move in and out of there, too.
- 30:33[SPEAKER_02]: Now in your slug guys, I mean, Judy's just such a good route runner.
- 30:37[SPEAKER_02]: Oh yeah, I mean, so you put them up and get in the slot working on safeties and linebackers, he's gonna cook them every time.
- 30:42[SPEAKER_04]: Yep, so.
- 30:46[SPEAKER_04]: This episode is sponsored by Omaha Stakes.

- 31:43[SPEAKER_04]: See site for details.
- 31:47[SPEAKER_04]: All right, what about you, Josh?
- 31:49[SPEAKER_04]: All right, so my free agent signing to watch is Tevin Jenkins, the backup offensive guard that we signed.
- 31:57[SPEAKER_04]: And he's twenty seven years old.
- 31:58[SPEAKER_04]: This is his fifth season.
- 31:59[SPEAKER_04]: So he played his entire rookie contract with the Chicago Bears, who they took in the second round in twenty twenty one.
- 32:06[SPEAKER_04]: Over his time there, he played both tackle and guard for the Bears.
- 32:09[SPEAKER_04]: He started actually at left tackle as a rookie.
- 32:11[SPEAKER_04]: Then they moved him to guard in his second season.
- 32:14[SPEAKER_04]: He started eleven games at right guard before he had an injury got placed on IR.
- 32:18[SPEAKER_04]: A following season moved to left guard.
- 32:20[SPEAKER_04]: He missed the start of that season with a calf injury.
- 32:22[SPEAKER_04]: But then he started sixteen games last year for the Bears.
- 32:25[SPEAKER_04]: Seven hundred thirty eight total snaps.
- 32:27[SPEAKER_04]: Five hundred ninety five pass blocking snaps and he allowed only seventeen pressures.
- 32:31[SPEAKER_04]: and only four sacks all season.
- 32:34[SPEAKER_04]: And if you remember from last year, Caleb Williams took a ton of sacks.
- 32:37[SPEAKER_04]: So pretty impressive.
- 32:40[SPEAKER_04]: What's that?
- 32:40[SPEAKER_04]: Sixty eight, which is sixty eight.
- 32:44[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 32:44[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, only the Sean Watson was on pace to have more, I think, than Caleb Williams.
- 32:50[SPEAKER_04]: Let's see last three seasons.
- 32:52[SPEAKER_04]: Tevin Jenkins had a PFF grade of eighty point seven, seventy two point six, seventy five point four, and he also grades out very well in the run blocking game, which is crucial for what the Browns want to do getting back to Kevin's to fancies often.
- 33:05[SPEAKER_04]: So this I've been saying this all off season.
- 33:07[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know maybe on way off base, but I to me personally, I wouldn't be surprised
- 33:12[SPEAKER_04]: to see the Browns either extend Jenkins at some point during the season, because they only signed me to a one year, two point three million dollar deal, or they make them a high priority resigning next off season.
- 33:22[SPEAKER_04]: If, you know, they should move on from teller or batonio decides to retire, but either way, it could be an interior at guard of Zack's enter in Tevin Jenkins moving forward, starting in twenty twenty six.
- 33:36[SPEAKER_05]: I'm with you on that now.
- 33:37[SPEAKER_05]: I like that.
- 33:38[SPEAKER_05]: Go ahead, Blake.
- 33:40[SPEAKER_02]: I was just gonna say, I really like what the Browns did with some of their online depth.
- 33:44[SPEAKER_02]: We talked about their free agent signings this year, weren't necessarily super splashy.
- 33:48[SPEAKER_02]: They were kind of bargain bin shopping, but they pulled out some nice, it's like they weren't bargain bin shopping, they were thrift shopping.
- 33:56[SPEAKER_02]: They didn't have a huge budget, but they found some nice pieces, you know, because the tackle that we got out of Washington, I think is a nice damn piece.
- 34:06[SPEAKER_02]: the Jenkins is a good death piece.
- 34:07[SPEAKER_02]: So we're not throwing out James Hudson and then other, you know, practice squad guys out there.
- 34:13[SPEAKER_02]: We got legitimate NFL players out there for some depth.
- 34:16[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, Kevin Jenkins.
- 34:17[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, he was a starter and a lot of people bless you.
- 34:20[SPEAKER_04]: a lot of people assumed he was going to sign with somebody this offseason to be a starter so there's a lot of surprise whenever he signed with Cleveland to not have a starting role and then Cornelius Lucas like you alluded to from Washington he's a guy who's also started many games over his career at both left and right tackle so yeah the depth is proven depth this year and it's thank God it's not James Hudson in those highs anymore good lord
- 34:44[SPEAKER_05]: And if history, if history repeats, we're going to see probably all these guys.
- 34:49[SPEAKER_05]: And correct by the first, first month of the season, we're going to see these guys.
- 34:55[SPEAKER_05]: I'm not being negative, but I know you look at the real life.
- 34:58[SPEAKER_02]: Be realistic.
- 34:59[SPEAKER_05]: Be realistic.
- 35:01[SPEAKER_05]: But Tony, I would be shocked if he doesn't retire at the end of the year.
- 35:04[SPEAKER_05]: You know what I mean?
- 35:05[SPEAKER_05]: Why it tellers always a trade rumor.
- 35:09[SPEAKER_05]: We're not.
- 35:10[SPEAKER_05]: We're counting a lot on Dewan Jones.
- 35:12[SPEAKER_05]: There's there's a lot going on.
- 35:14[SPEAKER_04]: Tellers very movable.
- 35:16[SPEAKER_04]: Very movable after this season I believe.
- 35:19[SPEAKER_02]: which sucks because he's I love white tail.
- 35:21[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 35:21[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 35:21[SPEAKER_02]: Me too.
- 35:22[SPEAKER_02]: And his wife sends this Christmas cards.
- 35:24[SPEAKER_02]: So he's awesome, too.
- 35:25[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 35:27[SPEAKER_02]: So then that for me, the free agent I am watching this year is Joe Trion Srianka.
- 35:33[SPEAKER_02]: Ed Dressher.
- 35:33[SPEAKER_02]: And the reason I went with this guy is because, uh, maybe I had a buggy in my beard.
- 35:40[SPEAKER_02]: Jesus.
- 35:40[SPEAKER_02]: No.
- 35:42[SPEAKER_02]: That was quite the sneeze.
- 35:45[SPEAKER_02]: So the is we we didn't address address address in the draft.
- 35:52[SPEAKER_02]: I've told Carter was there.
- 35:53[SPEAKER_02]: We traded Zedarius Smith last year.
- 35:56[SPEAKER_02]: We released Agbo this year.
- 35:58[SPEAKER_02]: And so obviously Alex right I say McGuire and now JTS.
- 36:04[SPEAKER_02]: I want to see if one of these guys is going to step up at that address or position opposite miles gear.
- 36:10[SPEAKER_02]: I think a lot of us are
- 36:12[SPEAKER_02]: intrigued by Alex Wright.
- 36:14[SPEAKER_02]: He seemed like he was coming on last year.
- 36:16[SPEAKER_02]: Isaiah McGuire flashed a little bit and I'm hearing good things about JTS from the the voluntary camps and stuff like that.
- 36:21[SPEAKER_02]: So even if we don't replace, you know, we don't have another zedarius.
- 36:26[SPEAKER_02]: We've always kind of had like a one guy opposite miles where it was a Olivier Vernon zedarius Smith, Judevia on clowning.
- 36:33[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe this year it's with like three guys who maybe are all three just have slightly different games, but a lot like a rotational basis.
- 36:40[SPEAKER_02]: They can make like a really good compliment opposite miles on the other side.
- 36:45[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm interested to see if he continues his performance from the OTAs into the mini camp or into the training camp.
- 36:51[SPEAKER_02]: See what we have in him as we're entering the season.
- 36:55[SPEAKER_04]: I'm very excited to see what this guy can do.
- 36:57[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, he was a former first round pick out of Atlanta.
- 37:01[SPEAKER_04]: And by all accounts was just not utilized properly for his skill set on the defensive scheme there with the Falcons.
- 37:08[SPEAKER_04]: And like you said, the reports coming out, it's like this dude in Jim shorts is wide nine is going to be is going to be something.
- 37:17[SPEAKER_02]: It would be nice, imagine a little diamond in the rough.
- 37:21[SPEAKER_02]: I'm interested to see what we got there.
- 37:23[SPEAKER_02]: All right, back to you, Justin.
- 37:26[SPEAKER_02]: Veteran.
- 37:27[SPEAKER_02]: This is the fun one.
- 37:28[SPEAKER_02]: We got to pick people who have been on the Browns now.
- 37:30[SPEAKER_02]: Who are you looking at watching this year a veteran wise for the Browns?
- 37:34[SPEAKER_05]: So for me, I'm going back to Y receiver.
- 37:36[SPEAKER_05]: I'm going to Y receiver, Cedric Tilman.
- 37:40[SPEAKER_05]: Um, when he was a rookie, we got to go up to training camp and we were probably like five feet from this dude.
- 37:45[SPEAKER_05]: This is a big kid.
- 37:47[SPEAKER_05]: So a big, big dude.
- 37:49[SPEAKER_05]: Um, he finally got his opportunity last year and he kind of flashed for those three games.
- 37:53[SPEAKER_05]: He had that game winner against the believe it was Baltimore.
- 37:56[SPEAKER_05]: And he just kind of went on that little three, four game tear where he was like, man, this dude might be the wiversiever one.
- 38:01[SPEAKER_05]: Forget about Jerry Judy.
- 38:03[SPEAKER_05]: It might be Cedric Tilman.
- 38:05[SPEAKER_05]: And then I saw obviously the concussion just derailed the whole end of his season and injuries in general of kind of derailed him and opportunities.
- 38:14[SPEAKER_05]: If this dude can say healthy and we get once again just competent quarterback play, big, big factor there that competent quarterback play.
- 38:22[SPEAKER_05]: I really, really like Cedric Tillman a lot.
- 38:25[SPEAKER_05]: I just, if we can keep him on the field, I think he could be a legit jet weapon for us.
- 38:30[SPEAKER_05]: just we got to keep him healthy, but man, I love the little four game stretch with him where he looked like he was gonna be the guy for us.
- 38:38[SPEAKER_02]: No, I think that's a good, a good person to watch.
- 38:42[SPEAKER_02]: Is he out of, like, is he good to go?
- 38:44[SPEAKER_02]: Do we know?
- 38:44[SPEAKER_02]: Because I'm not sure.
- 38:46[SPEAKER_02]: I'm just okay.
- 38:46[SPEAKER_04]: He's turned back and practiced.
- 38:48[SPEAKER_04]: I think the last day of mini camp before they ended.
- 38:51[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 38:52[SPEAKER_04]: Okay, cool.
- 38:52[SPEAKER_04]: Okay.
- 38:52[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm so nervous about him.
- 38:55[SPEAKER_02]: That concussion seemed like it lingered so long that it's one of those things where it's like, is he, is he his first catch in getting tackled away from being in concussion protocol again?
- 39:05[SPEAKER_04]: You know what I mean like it's that makes me very nervous how much of that was the state of the team and the record and we just weren't playing for anything and they said why even you know if you have any lingering even tiny lingering effects like if we were in contention could you have come back and been okay maybe I have no idea but I keep considering that too like we just sucked last year and maybe they said it's not even worth risk in another concussion.
- 39:27[SPEAKER_04]: Let's just keep it out.
- 39:29[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know
- 39:29[SPEAKER_05]: Or if they throw them out there and, you know, he tears his ACL, you know, like we're six feet in or something.
- 39:34[SPEAKER_05]: Well, I'm just saying weeks, sixteenth last year, you know what I mean all last year.
- 39:37[SPEAKER_05]: And then you're you've lost him for this year, basically.
- 39:40[SPEAKER_05]: First are a good portion of this year.
- 39:42[SPEAKER_05]: So I get that it makes complete sense from like a just common sense standpoint.
- 39:46[SPEAKER_05]: We were dolch it last year.
- 39:50[SPEAKER_02]: No, I agree.
- 39:51[SPEAKER_02]: So that there's a chance to happen.
- 39:54[SPEAKER_02]: What about you, Josh, what better than you watching?
- 39:57[SPEAKER_04]: So I'm watching one of my favorite guys on this team.
- 39:59[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, through his first two years on the roster here in Cleveland, we thought we have found a long-term answer at the position.
- 40:07[SPEAKER_04]: He is a stud in the making.
- 40:09[SPEAKER_04]: He's going to be a perennial pro bowler.
- 40:11[SPEAKER_04]: And last year, there was a huge drop off.
- 40:13[SPEAKER_04]: So unfortunately, year four is going to be maker break for Martin Emerson Jr.
- 40:16[SPEAKER_04]: I think this is the, you know, he's twenty four years old, final year of his rookie deal.
- 40:20[SPEAKER_04]: So they need to make a decision during the season, probably if they want to extend him.
- 40:24[SPEAKER_04]: Because if he is free agency after this season and we don't extend him, he's going to get signed by somebody.
- 40:30[SPEAKER_04]: Somebody's going to come strong after, especially if he even has a decent season this year.
- 40:34[SPEAKER_04]: Because the first two years were so good.
- 40:37[SPEAKER_04]: Last year in twenty four, he played all seventeen games.
- 40:39[SPEAKER_04]: He had actually had eighty tackles, which is kind of crazy for a corner back.
- 40:43[SPEAKER_04]: I believe he had three TFLs, a force fumble, a fumble recovery.
- 40:47[SPEAKER_04]: That was his best season in the tackling department, but it was clearly his worst season in coverage.
- 40:52[SPEAKER_04]: He had just bypass breakups and he had after having fifteen as a rookie and then sixteen the year after that.
- 40:58[SPEAKER_04]: So a huge drop off in the coverage.
- 41:01[SPEAKER_04]: Four picks and twenty twenty three, not a single one last year.
- 41:05[SPEAKER_04]: And then just kind of going through like he had a seventy two point five pff grade and has a rookie sixty three point two in his second season and last year dropped down to forty seven point nine.
- 41:16[SPEAKER_04]: He gave up fifty two receptions for six hundred four yards six touchdowns.
- 41:19[SPEAKER_04]: He'd only given up five total touchdowns in the two years prior.
- 41:22[SPEAKER_04]: So last year was really bad for Martin Emerson in the secondary.
- 41:26[SPEAKER_04]: But I believe I think I think he's a stud.
- 41:29[SPEAKER_04]: I think last year was the anomaly in his career and I think he gets back to a
- 41:34[SPEAKER_04]: being that fringe pro baller that we thought he was in twenty twenty three.
- 41:39[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I think so much of our DB success hinges on our defensive line.
- 41:44[SPEAKER_02]: We put him out there on an island so much that almost outside of like Denzel Ward almost anybody's going to look like burnt toast if we don't get home and I feel like our past rush lacked it last year was not the same as it was two years ago.
- 41:59[SPEAKER_02]: So I think that's a big thing and but then at the same time it's like is he a good cover corner or were in his first you know his rookie year in his second year where we just put so much pressure on the quarterback that he didn't even really have to cover anybody so I guess we'll find out this year.
- 42:14[SPEAKER_02]: I'm like you I think he
- 42:17[SPEAKER_02]: He has a chance to have a good bounce back season because he that rookie season especially his rookie season like oh my god, he was there's like this guy might be our quarterback one like it's a word can't say healthy this guy might be quarterback one and then last year's like what happened this guy he looks like toast out there
- 42:33[SPEAKER_05]: Well, keep in mind, too, bro.
- 42:35[SPEAKER_05]: The defense last year, just they were on the field, the entire game.
- 42:38[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
- 42:38[SPEAKER_05]: They really, it was pretty much just them and them only out there for playing time.
- 42:43[SPEAKER_05]: This is true.
- 42:44[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 42:44[SPEAKER_04]: So a lot more opportunities for a quarterback to throw his direction and for him to be tired or, you know, or opportunities to be out of position on a player, whatever the situation might be, you're absolutely right.

- 44:37[SPEAKER_02]: We'll wrap it up here.
- 44:38[SPEAKER_02]: The veteran I am watching is Dawn Jones.
- 44:42[SPEAKER_02]: He's going to make the switch the full-time left tackle this year.
- 44:45[SPEAKER_02]: Another position we didn't address in the draft.
- 44:48[SPEAKER_02]: They're kind of putting all their eggs in one basket here.
- 44:52[SPEAKER_02]: how is he coming in and shape?
- 44:55[SPEAKER_02]: Is he mentally ready?
- 44:57[SPEAKER_02]: Has he been practicing like technique wise?
- 45:01[SPEAKER_02]: Is he can he be the left tackle of the future or was this a giant mistake?
- 45:06[SPEAKER_02]: Because based on everything we saw of him last year, once he came back from the injury, it was like, I don't this guy can't play left tackle because he couldn't play right tackle.
- 45:16[SPEAKER_02]: It was it was bad, but
- 45:18[SPEAKER_02]: He came back out of shape after being injured.
- 45:20[SPEAKER_02]: It's tough for a bigger guy to work out when you're, you know, you're hurt.
- 45:23[SPEAKER_02]: I understand that.
- 45:24[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm watching for him.
- 45:26[SPEAKER_02]: How does he look?
- 45:27[SPEAKER_02]: What are they going to be the report data training camp?
- 45:29[SPEAKER_02]: How he's handling this full time transition to left tackle because so much of this running game, so much of the competent quarterback play that we keep talking about hinges on his ability to anchor that left side of the defensive lines.
- 45:41[SPEAKER_02]: So
- 45:42[SPEAKER_02]: I'm Washington, John Jones and training camp.
- 45:44[SPEAKER_02]: I'm listening to reports about him because if I'm here reports that he's struggling, I'm nervous already.
- 45:50[SPEAKER_02]: If he's struggling in training camp, like, that's an issue.
- 45:54[SPEAKER_05]: A lot of the insiders said he already came in like, forty pounds lighter like this year coming into this year is season like there.
- 46:01[SPEAKER_05]: A lot of people are, that's the guy they're excited about on the scene.
- 46:04[SPEAKER_05]: Like they, they said he came in looking good and healthy and ready to roll.
- 46:10[SPEAKER_04]: He talked about that getting that extra weight off his frame too and he said it's been helpful for him.
- 46:15[SPEAKER_04]: Right.
- 46:15[SPEAKER_02]: Well, well, somebody has weight taken off their frame recently.
- 46:19[SPEAKER_02]: I can attest to that.
- 46:23[SPEAKER_02]: But I also remember there are ports of him saying like he doesn't like playing left tackle.
- 46:30[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm just like, man, you got to have a good year this year and your life has changed.
- 46:35[SPEAKER_02]: You're going to get a fat contract.
- 46:38[SPEAKER_02]: like left tackles make a lot of money in this league so hopefully he's he's ready to kind of seize that opportunity.
- 46:46[SPEAKER_04]: So I got a couple stats here and you know last year let's see he in total gave up twenty two pressures and four sacks in the games he was healthy and playing the splits though sixteen of those pressures and all four sacks are when he was playing right tackle when he switched over to left tackle
- 47:03[SPEAKER_04]: just six total pressures zero sacks given up in three games got to mention those three games were with James Winston at quarterback and James was not taking sacks at the rate, you know, the Sean Watson was, but I mean, that kind of goes to this year.
- 47:17[SPEAKER_04]: Like if we get at least competent quarterback play, whether it's, you know, a veteran like Joe or Kenny or whatever, who's not going to sit back there and just take sacks left and right.
- 47:25[SPEAKER_04]: The one could be serviceable at left tack or at least in a in a small sample size he showed that he could be at hopefully that you know pans out for a full season at that spot will see but definitely got to watch a lot hinges on what he can do at left.
- 47:41[SPEAKER_02]: So that's kind of our training current can't preview before we wrap up.
- 47:44[SPEAKER_02]: I had one more thing I wanted to ask you guys I just remembered it.
- 47:47[SPEAKER_02]: I saw a
- 47:52[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, who's the NFL reporter?
- 47:54[SPEAKER_02]: He said some, I forget exactly who it was.
- 47:56[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe you guys saw the quote, too, and you'll be able to help me.
- 47:58[SPEAKER_02]: But he said, despite everything, to Sean Watson, still the most talented quarterback on this roster.
- 48:03[SPEAKER_02]: Do you know how we're bringing that?
- 48:05[SPEAKER_02]: Albert Brear.
- 48:06[SPEAKER_02]: And I like to think was, is he blind?
- 48:10[SPEAKER_02]: Because this isn't this isn't twenty twenty.
- 48:13[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think there's any world in which he's the most talented quarterback on this roster.
- 48:17[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, he wasn't, we have Joe Flacco on this roster.
- 48:21[SPEAKER_04]: And Joe Flacco was more talented than to Sean Watson in twenty twenty three.
- 48:25[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, in my room.
- 48:26[SPEAKER_02]: No, like you may be the most physically gifted, but even the physically gifted part, you don't even know that anymore because he's torn his Achilles twice.
- 48:37[SPEAKER_02]: It is coming off the the shoulder problem and there's knee problems.
- 48:41[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, we watched him run around last year.
- 48:43[SPEAKER_02]: He looks slow.
- 48:44[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 48:44[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 48:45[SPEAKER_02]: And I mean, and lost.
- 48:47[SPEAKER_02]: So like for what he came out, I just feel like
- 48:51[SPEAKER_02]: the national media sometimes they just love to drum up drama about the world's like words the the browns have done everything they can to basically be like there's no way this guy's ever stepping on the field again and now all the sudden you have national media people coming out like well uh... the shots to out there and you know he is the the best the most talented quarterback on the roster it's like did you know that we watched football the last couple years right what are you talking about no he's not
- 49:22[SPEAKER_02]: So I just I was I was curious if you guys saw that quote what your thoughts were because that was I'm like what is this guy talking about I think Josh put a post up about it if because I thought I read it, but so my thing is I'm kind of with you.
- 49:33[SPEAKER_05]: I think this is just national media stir in the pot.
- 49:37[SPEAKER_05]: They this this is we want to create a little bit of drama it's getting a little boring.
- 49:43[SPEAKER_05]: Hey, what if we decide we just choked around about it like three weeks ago, and we're like wait till the shot and Watson's team get thrown in the mix into this quarterback here or so, and we're really talking about complete chaos.
- 49:54[SPEAKER_05]: Now our, you know, guaranteed contract in your quarterback is also being thrown into this mix.
- 50:02[SPEAKER_05]: To me, I'm still on the, I don't think to show Watson plays a game for the Browns.
- 50:07[SPEAKER_05]: I don't think you do any of the moves you did this offseason if that guy was in your plans.
- 50:12[SPEAKER_05]: And then if he is in your plans, then I'm very much on the board with we might be at his functional organization and we don't know what the hell we're doing.
- 50:21[SPEAKER_02]: What about what about the good boy behind Josh?
- 50:23[SPEAKER_02]: What does he think?
- 50:24[SPEAKER_05]: Oh, he agrees.
- 50:25[SPEAKER_02]: He said, well, he said, well, well, oh, that's a no.
- 50:29[SPEAKER_04]: He's not.
- 50:30[SPEAKER_04]: You know, I do want to, I have to talk to an expert with the salary cap.
- 50:34[SPEAKER_04]: Maybe jacked up and be a good source for this kind of thing.
- 50:37[SPEAKER_04]: But I do know I listened to a lot of what Albert Brewer was saying when he made that quote.
- 50:42[SPEAKER_04]: and he was talking about how the Browns can't just take to Sean Watson and put him on IR if he is healthy enough like physically able to play because that'll be an NFLPA situation that they they won't be able to avoid and could get him in some trouble so
- 50:58[SPEAKER_04]: He was talking about how it could get a little bit dicey and I did agree that if that's the case, it would get dicey at that.
- 51:04[SPEAKER_04]: Now you've got four quarterbacks on the roster that you know, we're trying to, you know, we're getting rid of which three are we keeping and then you throw it to Sean Watson who's eligible to be active.
- 51:12[SPEAKER_04]: You can't cut him financially for the cap.
- 51:15[SPEAKER_04]: You cannot just cut him and say we're keeping these guys.
- 51:18[SPEAKER_04]: What do they do?
- 51:18[SPEAKER_04]: You know, do you do part ways with one of the other guys you do like because you don't want to waste the roster spot.
- 51:24[SPEAKER_04]: It would be, it could get very interesting.
- 51:27[SPEAKER_02]: They're gonna have to pay somebody to taunt your heart for him.
- 51:31[SPEAKER_02]: Oh my god, bro.
- 51:32[SPEAKER_02]: Jesus.
- 51:33[SPEAKER_05]: What the hell?
- 51:35[SPEAKER_05]: My god.
- 51:36[SPEAKER_02]: Or maybe pay a doctor to not clear him.
- 51:39[SPEAKER_02]: If I'm, if I'm the Browns, I'm telling team doctors into Sean.
- 51:42[SPEAKER_02]: I'm sitting on both down on my listen.
- 51:44[SPEAKER_02]: You can't physically play this year.
- 51:48[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, I can.
- 51:48[SPEAKER_02]: Do you see my Instagram videos?
- 51:50[SPEAKER_02]: No, no, I'm giving this and you know, like, no, you're not playing.
- 51:56[SPEAKER_02]: You just not get your coverage is just not going as great as you thought it would this year, right?
- 52:01[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 52:01[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 52:02[SPEAKER_02]: It just feels so messy.
- 52:05[SPEAKER_05]: It feels so messy and we're we're still like two months out from that.
- 52:10[SPEAKER_05]: Because I guarantee that that's going to be a thing here in like two or three months.
- 52:14[SPEAKER_02]: I especially the worst case.
- 52:16[SPEAKER_02]: It's another like you could potentially be healthy enough by October or something like that.
- 52:20[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 52:21[SPEAKER_02]: Midnovember is going to work.
- 52:23[SPEAKER_02]: It's a lot of season.
- 52:24[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 52:24[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 52:25[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 52:25[SPEAKER_02]: Now especially if we're bad.
- 52:26[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 52:26[SPEAKER_04]: Especially if we're bad.
- 52:28[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 52:28[SPEAKER_04]: Especially if we're bad when the veterans report to camp, which would probably be the day you're watching this.
- 52:33[SPEAKER_04]: I'm sure that'll come out that he was placed on pup to start training camp because that's what all the injured guys are placed on right away.
- 52:40[SPEAKER_04]: So I'm sure that'll be how things start out.
- 52:43[SPEAKER_02]: Could you imagine though the bitter raw, if he steps foot on to the field in a home game for the Browns sometime later this year?
- 52:50[SPEAKER_02]: I've been talking about this.
- 52:53[SPEAKER_02]: I've been trying to make Browns fans have, like, we've kind of finally had like a sigh of relief.
- 52:59[SPEAKER_02]: Like, okay, that's done.
- 53:00[SPEAKER_02]: We're putting it behind us.
- 53:02[SPEAKER_02]: We've moved on.
- 53:04[SPEAKER_02]: If they try them back out there for a game, first of all, the booze will be before he even takes a snap.
- 53:11[SPEAKER_02]: And then if, imagine he throws one into the dirt or takes a sack or overthrow somebody or throws a pick, oh my god, it'll be, it'll be bottle gate.
- 53:22[SPEAKER_04]: I can imagine it very well.
- 53:23[SPEAKER_04]: I've got a lot of memories of those things happening.
- 53:25[SPEAKER_02]: It'll be terrible.
- 53:28[SPEAKER_02]: I think they have to think about that.
- 53:30[SPEAKER_02]: I know you don't want to make roster decisions and team decisions based on the emotions of what your fans are thinking and doing.
- 53:37[SPEAKER_02]: But at the same time, there is a such thing as PR.
- 53:40[SPEAKER_02]: And you don't want to like, try him in front of, seventy thousand Browns fans and just have people peppering the field with their garbage because I just feel like that's going to happen if you try them back out there.
- 53:56[SPEAKER_02]: It would definitely be ugly.
- 53:58[SPEAKER_02]: So.
- 53:59[SPEAKER_02]: All right.
- 54:00[SPEAKER_02]: Let's wrap this thing up.
- 54:01[SPEAKER_02]: I got some breakfast to eat.
- 54:02[SPEAKER_02]: It's a good one.
- 54:03[SPEAKER_02]: I got some kid to go play with.
- 54:06[SPEAKER_02]: I got some books to read.
- 54:07[SPEAKER_02]: I got a lot of nice.
- 54:08[SPEAKER_02]: I got a lot of dad to do today.
