Transcript
- 0:00Speaker: Happy Monday, wherever this moment finds you, I hope it's a good one, and as always, I have a small reflection I'd like to share.
- 0:10Speaker: Here's the truth.
- 0:12Speaker: This morning felt a little shaky.
- 0:15Speaker: I felt waves of anxiety knocking at my window and right behind them, the imposter voice saying.
- 0:23Speaker: Who are you to record a calming Monday moment when you don't feel especially calm?
- 0:30Speaker: And I realized there was a rather unforgiving belief behind that voice.
- 0:36Speaker: The belief that if I wanna support others and feeling steady, I better not be shaky myself and.
- 0:45Speaker: Just saying that out loud is it's rather humorous, like somehow I'm supposed to have outgrown my humanity as a prerequisite for showing up for others.
- 0:55Speaker: And as I thought more about the people who are anchors in my own life, the ones who are always there, always willing to stay up at all hours to listen.
- 1:07Speaker: The ones always ready to jump in and help.
- 1:10Speaker: Well.
- 1:11Speaker: In thinking about these people, I realized I would never expect them not to have their own human moments.
- 1:18Speaker: In other words, the people who anchor us in our lives are still allowed to wobble their need for support doesn't cancel out their capacity to give it and having a shaky moment doesn't erase the good you bring to people.
- 1:34Speaker: And that got me thinking maybe the real work for some of us isn't learning how to serve better.
- 1:41Speaker: Maybe it's learning how to receive.
- 1:44Speaker: So if you're the strong one in your circle, the one always at the ready to help others, I gently ask you, are you willing to receive the same kind of support you so freely give to others?
- 2:01Speaker: And if today happens to be one of those shaky days.
- 2:07Speaker: What would it look like to let yourself be supported?
- 2:12Speaker: Maybe that's the invitation for today.
- 2:16Speaker: Cheers.
