Ash pulled off a jaw-dropping surprise at Kendal Calling—playing as themselves after being billed as tribute band Rehash, dropping classics like “Kung Fu” and “Burn Baby Burn” to an ecstatic crowd. On top of the live shocker, they were honored with a gold disc for their 1996 hit “Girl From Mars,” a monumental achievement considering it’s nearly 30 years old and includes streaming counts. Even the band was caught off guard—the surprise was orchestrated by Tim Burgess, owner of the Tim Peaks Diner where they performed, who personally presented the discs to Tim Wheeler and Mark.
