- 0:19Speaker 1: The World's origin. Welcome to Patriot's Unfiltered. All right, Welcome
- 0:30Speaker 1: to Patriots Unfiltered. So, after entering the fourth quarter in
- 0:35Speaker 1: a tie, gave walked all over my open intro ahead pause,
- 0:43Speaker 1: Mike blew us off because I thought Frev was more
- 0:46Speaker 1: important than Bill and my understanding, he's not at eleven o'clock, right,
- 0:50Speaker 1: I take some hope that the offensive line didn't poop themselves.
- 0:54Speaker 1: So you guys are doing a great job of taking
- 0:56Speaker 1: away my enthusiasm. And I wrote in my notes he's
- 1:00Speaker 1: a West Coast coach. I don't mean like he lives
- 1:03Speaker 1: in a West Coast offense out there just to get
- 1:07Speaker 1: the ball back. And I was like, that should be
- 1:09Speaker 1: your number one priority. After that's what you said to him,
- 1:12Speaker 1: I was thinking, he's like, whoa Evan? In a rare
- 1:15Speaker 1: moment of complete agreement, Yeah, with Fred Kerry. Yeah, Sean
- 1:20Speaker 1: vic Turmis. Remember Calvin Ridley with the Onesies, Stephen Ridley,
- 1:26Speaker 1: Stephen Ridley cat not Calvin. Yeah, this is Patriot's Unfiltered,
- 1:31Speaker 1: fueled by Duncan. All right, welcome to Patriots Unfiltered. It's
- 1:37Speaker 1: a Saturday on a Wednesday before Thursday game. You're at
- 1:41Speaker 1: Chilette Stadium. I got that in before Paul stepped on out.
- 1:44Speaker 1: Anything to add Paul, No, he's this mouthless shut you
- 1:49Speaker 1: just wait, zip it. Let him set the table. Yes,
- 1:52Speaker 1: but we are getting ready for a Thursday night Amazon
- 1:55Speaker 1: Prime clash with the Bills. I'm excited. I'm really excited
- 1:59Speaker 1: about this game. Let's see what we've got. Is it?
- 2:02Speaker 1: Like I said, let's let's just get it over with.
- 2:06Speaker 1: I'm excited. Let's get it off. No, let's let's just
- 2:08Speaker 1: rip this band aid off. What do we got? What
- 2:11Speaker 1: do we got? We We saw some improvement on the offense.
- 2:14Speaker 1: Last week. You know, defense didn't play so well against
- 2:18Speaker 1: a better offense. Okay, so this is now a better
- 2:21Speaker 1: defense and a better offense. Let's see what we got. Yeah.
- 2:23Speaker 1: I think that's what me and everyone talking about stairs.
- 2:25Speaker 1: I like what I like about this week is I mean,
- 2:27Speaker 1: I don't know if I like it at this point,
- 2:28Speaker 1: but it's been a chance to finally put that playoff
- 2:30Speaker 1: game to rest a little bit. We've been talking a
- 2:32Speaker 1: lot about it. I know Evan doesn't even want to
- 2:33Speaker 1: talk about He's over it. He's very fired up about
- 2:35Speaker 1: hearing about the playoff game anymore. But you know, when
- 2:37Speaker 1: the season ends like that, you never really have a
- 2:39Speaker 1: chance to talk it out. He's just kind of like,
- 2:42Speaker 1: that was it. The season's over. We got blown out.
- 2:43Speaker 1: You know, you never really did damage assessment. And I
- 2:46Speaker 1: feel like this week there's been a lot of so
- 2:48Speaker 1: you know, you guys didn't punt right, Like, I mean,
- 2:50Speaker 1: every press conference, every media availability, they're bringing that up
- 2:53Speaker 1: to them. And you know, you heard Adrian Phillips. I
- 2:55Speaker 1: think it was like we basically got our faces kicked
- 2:57Speaker 1: in basically basically literally. Um but yeah, so it's, uh yeah,
- 3:03Speaker 1: it's all building up. I'm excited. I am excited to
- 3:05Speaker 1: see what it is. It feels like everything's been building
- 3:07Speaker 1: up to this game. Dawkins and Miller out, so those
- 3:11Speaker 1: are you know, like Paul said yesterday, the Patriots might
- 3:13Speaker 1: be catching the Bills at just the right time, but
- 3:16Speaker 1: we we gotta see it on the field say that.
- 3:21Speaker 1: I think they get them at a good time or
- 3:23Speaker 1: it always works out. I mean, not necessarily because of
- 3:28Speaker 1: the injuries, because I think, um, in terms of what
- 3:31Speaker 1: Buffalo has been through, this is one of their up weeks.
- 3:34Speaker 1: I think injury wise, it looks like Rousseau and Epanessa
- 3:37Speaker 1: and Edmonds are all going to play. And those are
- 3:39Speaker 1: three guys that didn't play on their defense last week. UM,
- 3:43Speaker 1: three important guys in their front seven. So I think
- 3:45Speaker 1: the arrow is actually pointing up for them injury wise.
- 3:48Speaker 1: I think more of the spot. UM. I think first
- 3:50Speaker 1: of all, they're not playing great. They've been sloppy lately,
- 3:53Speaker 1: turning the ball over and it's hard to just turn
- 3:55Speaker 1: that faucet on and off. And you know, the three
- 4:00Speaker 1: games in twelve days that both teams are going through,
- 4:03Speaker 1: they've been on the road for all three of them.
- 4:04Speaker 1: The Patriots are going to be home for two out
- 4:06Speaker 1: of three of them. I think that's an advantage for
- 4:07Speaker 1: the Patriots. That's why I think I'm not telling you
- 4:10Speaker 1: this is a great spot for the Patriots. I just
- 4:12Speaker 1: think it's probably as good a spot to play this
- 4:15Speaker 1: team as you could could have picked Short to play
- 4:18Speaker 1: schedule another hurricane, right right, you know what I mean, Like,
- 4:21Speaker 1: I'm not telling you that that, Oh, everything is pointing
- 4:23Speaker 1: to the Patriots. Patriots should win this game. I felt
- 4:25Speaker 1: like the Patriots should win last week against Minnesota. I
- 4:28Speaker 1: don't feel like that today. I don't want to give
- 4:29Speaker 1: away my pick, but I do think if you could
- 4:32Speaker 1: pick a spot to have to play Buffalo at home
- 4:36Speaker 1: on a Thursday night, third game in twelve days, all
- 4:40Speaker 1: on the road for Buffalo is a good spot. Yeah. Yeah,
- 4:42Speaker 1: it's as good as you could hopeful. Yeah, that's what
- 4:44Speaker 1: I mean. I'm not telling you that, oh, Patriots should
- 4:47Speaker 1: be embarrassed if they don't win this game. No, no, no, yeah,
- 4:51Speaker 1: I mean I'm sure the Bills are favored. I don't
- 4:53Speaker 1: know the number, but it was five, is it that? Yeah? Yeah?
- 4:57Speaker 1: So that's eight? Yeah right, I could do the mat
- 5:00Speaker 1: right because you get three at home? Right? Right? Yeah.
- 5:03Speaker 1: I'm just I'm so mature. I can't handle it just
- 5:08Speaker 1: makes me that in the time, it's actually nowadays, I
- 5:10Speaker 1: think it might be two and a half, isn't. Please
- 5:14Speaker 1: don't do it, please, you're gonna confuse him. Please, don't
- 5:17Speaker 1: we just got him to this point He'll be asking
- 5:19Speaker 1: what the sharp snow like, Yeah, well, we'll get to
- 5:22Speaker 1: that later. I'm just interested to see what Bill Belichick
- 5:24Speaker 1: has in store for Josh Allen because clearly what you
- 5:27Speaker 1: did last year did not work. And all off season,
- 5:30Speaker 1: all season long, has been building up to this rematch
- 5:33Speaker 1: against Allen, and it's like, if Bill is still Bill, right,
- 5:38Speaker 1: then he's going to have some sort of wrinkle or
- 5:41Speaker 1: some sort of game plan prepared. That's not just we're
- 5:44Speaker 1: gonna do what we do and get carved up again
- 5:47Speaker 1: like they did last year. But it's something different, something unique,
- 5:50Speaker 1: something Belichick like. You know, I mean, how many game
- 5:54Speaker 1: plans have we seen over the years, going all the
- 5:56Speaker 1: way back to his Giants days where people are like, oh, wow,
- 5:59Speaker 1: like that is. You know, oh, they're playing quarters coverage
- 6:02Speaker 1: against the Rams and the Super Bowl instead of man
- 6:04Speaker 1: when they were all man in the AFC Championship game.
- 6:07Speaker 1: You know, there's things like that. And you have these
- 6:09Speaker 1: guys come in Mac Wilson, Jabriel Peppers that you think
- 6:12Speaker 1: are here to help you in this matchup and draft
- 6:16Speaker 1: Marcus Jones and Jack Jones again some more. Uh, cornerback,
- 6:20Speaker 1: depth and speed. What do they happen? It's a good
- 6:25Speaker 1: way to look at it, you know. So let's look
- 6:27Speaker 1: at the last game that they played, or the last
- 6:29Speaker 1: two games they played against the Bills. They surely the
- 6:33Speaker 1: lack of speed and depth hurt them on defense, you know,
- 6:36Speaker 1: and plus Judeon like had disappeared by that time. You know. Granted,
- 6:43Speaker 1: they didn't play as well against Minnesota, but I would
- 6:45Speaker 1: say right now the defense is playing better now than
- 6:48Speaker 1: they were at the end of last season, right, I think, Yeah,
- 6:53Speaker 1: I think, and there's no JC Jackson, but I don't
- 6:55Speaker 1: think that. I think it's a big difference. I think
- 6:57Speaker 1: it's very similar to the last time they first Buffalo game. Yeah,
- 7:01Speaker 1: I mean the like of the two really not counting
- 7:05Speaker 1: the win game the other. Yeah, Like they had played
- 7:07Speaker 1: coming off the buy, they had played a bad game
- 7:09Speaker 1: against Indie, Right, that was one. It was disappeared by that.
- 7:15Speaker 1: Well I've been meaning t I know, but like they
- 7:18Speaker 1: had been dominant for that seven game winning streak. They
- 7:20Speaker 1: had one bad game and yeah, then it snowball to
- 7:22Speaker 1: two bad games and three bad games and four bad
- 7:24Speaker 1: games even not to bring it up, but I like,
- 7:26Speaker 1: did you see anything last year that they did from
- 7:29Speaker 1: the second match up to the third matchup. I know
- 7:31Speaker 1: that injuries, Jaylen Mills getting COVID and all those things
- 7:34Speaker 1: that Jonathan Jones, I don't think he played any in
- 7:37Speaker 1: any of them. But did you see any kind of
- 7:38Speaker 1: like adjustment from you? I mean, I think the game
- 7:41Speaker 1: here was fairly competitive, right like I mean it was
- 7:43Speaker 1: not defensively, not offense down the end, but offensively they
- 7:46Speaker 1: moved the ball a little bit, but defensively they didn't
- 7:49Speaker 1: stop it. Was there any difference between the two game plans?
- 7:51Speaker 1: I know, it's hard to discern with the person. I
- 7:53Speaker 1: think that's a problem that they ran into in the
- 7:55Speaker 1: playoff game was that because of how banged up they
- 7:59Speaker 1: were in the secondary, they had to rely on the
- 8:01Speaker 1: stuff that they had been relying on all year. You know,
- 8:03Speaker 1: they really couldn't have any exotic game plan wrinkles because
- 8:07Speaker 1: they were playing guys that literally knew their base defense
- 8:10Speaker 1: and that was about it. And now I think was
- 8:12Speaker 1: a big part of it. But I really look at
- 8:14Speaker 1: the second match of the game after Christmas, I was
- 8:17Speaker 1: a week sixteen of last year. I think it was
- 8:20Speaker 1: as the jumping off point for this game, because I
- 8:23Speaker 1: think the playoff game you were not competitive. So I
- 8:26Speaker 1: just don't even know what you take away from that
- 8:28Speaker 1: playoff game of like what can we learn from it
- 8:30Speaker 1: or anything, well you can learn from it is that
- 8:32Speaker 1: your effort wasn't good enough. That that's about it. Right.
- 8:36Speaker 1: So that second game, it was a one score game
- 8:38Speaker 1: in the fourth quarter and jac Jackson drops an interception
- 8:41Speaker 1: with a chance to give the Patriots the ball back
- 8:43Speaker 1: in plus field position. Like that game was closer than
- 8:45Speaker 1: people remember in some respects, and I think that that's
- 8:49Speaker 1: where they're going to try to jump off from. But
- 8:51Speaker 1: I think the biggest thing that hurt them in that
- 8:53Speaker 1: second game was playing man coverage against the Buffalo receivers
- 8:57Speaker 1: and they couldn't cover them Isaiah McKenzie against my Brant,
- 9:00Speaker 1: like j C. Jackson had another tough day against the
- 9:03Speaker 1: fon Diggs. Like they couldn't cover those guys in man coverage.
- 9:06Speaker 1: So when I look at this game and you know,
- 9:09Speaker 1: kind of break down the xs and nose of what
- 9:11Speaker 1: might they do differently, I look at those safeties that
- 9:14Speaker 1: they have on this roster, and I think Jabriel's gonna play.
- 9:17Speaker 1: He's he's sick. But I think he walked through the
- 9:19Speaker 1: locker room. I think Monday like coughing into like a mask. Yeah,
- 9:25Speaker 1: I think he's gonna be all right. But I look
- 9:28Speaker 1: at those four safeties and I start to think of
- 9:31Speaker 1: how can we get all four of them on the
- 9:33Speaker 1: field together, because that, to me, is gonna be your
- 9:36Speaker 1: best shot is to play this like amba four safety
- 9:41Speaker 1: zone defense against Buffalo, where you got all of your
- 9:44Speaker 1: athletes on the field. And this is a Mac Wilson game,
- 9:47Speaker 1: this is a Jabriel Peppers game. And I talked to
- 9:50Speaker 1: Jabrill Peppers about in the locker room, and of course
- 9:53Speaker 1: then he went out with an illness, So maybe you
- 9:55Speaker 1: all should stay away from me too. But he I
- 9:58Speaker 1: asked him. I was like, you know, when you watch
- 10:00Speaker 1: Buffalo and he hasn't played Josh Allen in a game yet,
- 10:02Speaker 1: but when you watch Buffalo, there are not a lot
- 10:05Speaker 1: of big hits on Josh Allen when he when he runs.
- 10:08Speaker 1: And he was like, well, you know, he's two hundred
- 10:10Speaker 1: and fifty pounds one and two. There's all these protections
- 10:15Speaker 1: against quarterbacks, and if you're the guy that lays out
- 10:18Speaker 1: Josh Allen, then that's a gonna be a fifteen yard
- 10:21Speaker 1: penalty at the very least, and b you might get
- 10:23Speaker 1: yourself kicked out of the game. And I'm not saying
- 10:26Speaker 1: hurt the guy, but I think when he does take
- 10:28Speaker 1: off to run with the football, I think guys like
- 10:30Speaker 1: Wilson and Jabriel Peppers are going to try to line
- 10:32Speaker 1: him up because, yeah, I don't know, maybe he doesn't
- 10:35Speaker 1: run it next time, right, Like, maybe that deters him
- 10:37Speaker 1: from continuing to run the ball. Make him pay, you know.
- 10:40Speaker 1: But like you said, you want to get those safeties
- 10:42Speaker 1: out there, But the more safeties you have out there,
- 10:46Speaker 1: the more you need that pass rush to get there
- 10:48Speaker 1: because he can't cover forever, you know. And these guys
- 10:51Speaker 1: might be fast, but they're not great coverage guys, you know,
- 10:54Speaker 1: And so you've got to compliment that with a pass rush.
- 10:58Speaker 1: You know, that has to improve from last week. So
- 11:00Speaker 1: I like Evan's idea of flooding with safeties and you know,
- 11:04Speaker 1: in zones because of the running aspect. I think that
- 11:07Speaker 1: helps you against Josh Allen when he takes off, no doubt. Yeah,
- 11:10Speaker 1: And you know, I think it's gonna make it a
- 11:11Speaker 1: little bit more difficult to find, you know, quick receivers
- 11:15Speaker 1: and quick open guys you know, when you're just flooding
- 11:18Speaker 1: zones with extra bodies and then you have mobile guys
- 11:21Speaker 1: who can tackle in space and Dugger and Pepper's in
- 11:25Speaker 1: mac Wilson, those those kinds of guys should be Now
- 11:27Speaker 1: I'm not telling you that that it will happen. I'm
- 11:29Speaker 1: saying in theory, they should be more equipped to handle
- 11:33Speaker 1: Josh Allen when he does. That was a big part
- 11:35Speaker 1: of the game the day after Christmas was Allan's I
- 11:38Speaker 1: think he had eighty one yards rushing in that game,
- 11:40Speaker 1: and some of them were just like an incredible individual efforts.
- 11:45Speaker 1: I don't expect him to get lit up. I think
- 11:47Speaker 1: he you know, in terms of the protection, he gets
- 11:49Speaker 1: no protection. He's like Cam Newton used to be, like
- 11:52Speaker 1: you can kill him and like you have to hit
- 11:54Speaker 1: him like a day late to get a penalty. He
- 11:58Speaker 1: takes some of the most punishment of a quarter, but
- 12:01Speaker 1: that's all on him. It's that's the way he runs.
- 12:04Speaker 1: He doesn't shy away from contact. He's always looking to
- 12:07Speaker 1: knock somebody back. I mean, his own coach says, yeah,
- 12:09Speaker 1: he's got to slide. I still laugh. I still laugh
- 12:12Speaker 1: about the opening night when they were playing the rams
- 12:14Speaker 1: and listening to you know, we talked to Sean McDermott
- 12:17Speaker 1: and and they want Josh Allen to be smarter this
- 12:20Speaker 1: year and to go out of bounds and to not
- 12:22Speaker 1: And then like the first third down of the game,
- 12:24Speaker 1: he's lowering his shoulder and knocking a linebacker over, and
- 12:27Speaker 1: like the next one that one guy's got his leg
- 12:30Speaker 1: like a wishbone. Remember that we're holding his leg up
- 12:32Speaker 1: when he was like in the ear and one guy's
- 12:34Speaker 1: holding his leg. I'm like, that's what. He just can't
- 12:37Speaker 1: play that way. I don't know how long it's gonna last,
- 12:39Speaker 1: because you know it's gonna happen. It didn't last that
- 12:42Speaker 1: long eight or nine years for that elbow. Really good
- 12:45Speaker 1: play right for the elbow. Yeah, I don't know how
- 12:47Speaker 1: long it's gonna last. But for now, I mean, he's
- 12:51Speaker 1: he's just a beast. It's such a tough position too,
- 12:53Speaker 1: for like a defensive back, because how many times have
- 12:55Speaker 1: you seen him he's like a freight train running towards you.
- 12:57Speaker 1: But then he just pulls up and throws the ball
- 12:59Speaker 1: over your head. So like on one hand, you're like
- 13:00Speaker 1: bracing for the oncoming train that's about to run over
- 13:04Speaker 1: you and then just as you do, he just you know,
- 13:06Speaker 1: he makes those kind of places. So I worry a
- 13:08Speaker 1: little bit about Dawson Knox too. They hadn't really talked
- 13:11Speaker 1: a lot about him, and I think he's an okay
- 13:13Speaker 1: tight end. I think he's a good player. I just
- 13:16Speaker 1: worry a little bit about the Patriots and their consistency
- 13:19Speaker 1: against tight ends if they're going to be doing some
- 13:21Speaker 1: of this stuff that they're worried about. Josh Allen kind
- 13:23Speaker 1: of kind of get lost as he get lost in
- 13:25Speaker 1: the middle of the field, opens up and you know,
- 13:27Speaker 1: you think you got him, and all of a sudden,
- 13:29Speaker 1: it's a fifteen yard pass to knock. I mean, we
- 13:32Speaker 1: could talk all about these exotic things. I think Evan's right,
- 13:35Speaker 1: Like I said, I think the zone thing, you know,
- 13:37Speaker 1: against that makes sense, Like what else could you possibly
- 13:40Speaker 1: see them? But it's gonna come down. So can the
- 13:42Speaker 1: Patriots move the ball and score? Because if they don't,
- 13:45Speaker 1: they're not going to keep up, right, because they're not
- 13:46Speaker 1: holding this team to ten points? Right. I just think
- 13:49Speaker 1: you gotta ay, you know, the biggest thing is you
- 13:52Speaker 1: gotta do something different, right like you can't. It's definition
- 13:55Speaker 1: of insanity. If you go out there and you put
- 13:58Speaker 1: the same matchups out on the field and expect it
- 14:00Speaker 1: to go differently for you. But I think that whether
- 14:03Speaker 1: it's zone and all these safeties on the field, whether
- 14:05Speaker 1: mac Wilson is a dedicated quarterback spy the whole game
- 14:09Speaker 1: and he's kind of the Allen player, right who just
- 14:12Speaker 1: follows Josh Allen around, you gotta make Josh Allen make
- 14:15Speaker 1: a decision. Okay. Where they get killed is the extended
- 14:18Speaker 1: plays is when he has all day to throw and
- 14:20Speaker 1: he's kind of scanning the field and then he breaks
- 14:22Speaker 1: the pocket and pulls the zone with him, and then
- 14:25Speaker 1: all these big plays happen as a result of that. So,
- 14:28Speaker 1: whether it's him taking off or it's him making a throw,
- 14:31Speaker 1: you gotta make him make a decision quickly. You can't
- 14:33Speaker 1: just let him sit there and take over the game.
- 14:36Speaker 1: And he has thrown picks. Yeah, so if and when
- 14:39Speaker 1: he does, you got to you gotta make hay out
- 14:43Speaker 1: of that. You gotta catch him. Well, no, you gotta
- 14:45Speaker 1: catch it. But if you do get it, you gotta
- 14:47Speaker 1: get points out of it. You know, you can't just
- 14:49Speaker 1: like get the turnover and then just give it back
- 14:53Speaker 1: to them. After three plays, you gotta turn it into points,
- 14:56Speaker 1: right because those are those are the differences that you're
- 14:59Speaker 1: hoping for in this game. And that's what I worry about,
- 15:01Speaker 1: is like, are we just asking for too many new
- 15:03Speaker 1: things to suddenly magically appear here on Thursday night in
- 15:06Speaker 1: week thirteen? You know, like that's the that's that's steak
- 15:11Speaker 1: into that sum. Yeah. I just I don't know what.
- 15:14Speaker 1: I'm excited to see how it goes. I just agree
- 15:16Speaker 1: with Evan, they got it. They gotta have something different.
- 15:18Speaker 1: Well to do something different, just think about thinking about
- 15:21Speaker 1: this game. The last the first four games that he
- 15:24Speaker 1: played against the Patriots, a Patriot's handleman pretty well, you know,
- 15:27Speaker 1: it was like fifty five percent completions whatever they held
- 15:30Speaker 1: him and checked the last four times. It's thirteen touchdowns,
- 15:34Speaker 1: no picks, one hundred and twenty three pass or raining
- 15:37Speaker 1: and that counts the game in the Gale Force wins. Yeah,
- 15:40Speaker 1: that counts that game. That's one of the four. So
- 15:44Speaker 1: to Evan's point, you can't just keep doing the same
- 15:46Speaker 1: thing that ain't working. You gotta do something different. Yeah.
- 15:49Speaker 1: I think the biggest thing too, to Fred's point about
- 15:51Speaker 1: the pass rush they have gotten caught in this like
- 15:54Speaker 1: mush Rush, you know, try trash can pack theirs against
- 16:00Speaker 1: him in the past where they're not actually putting any
- 16:03Speaker 1: pressure on him, and he's just you know, Bill said
- 16:05Speaker 1: at the podium the other day, we can't just watch
- 16:07Speaker 1: him throw the ball. And it felt like in that
- 16:09Speaker 1: game again in Week sixteen last year, he was just
- 16:12Speaker 1: We're watching him throw the football the whole game. And
- 16:15Speaker 1: if I'm the Patriots, I I dial it up like
- 16:18Speaker 1: I come after because you might lose some downs that way,
- 16:22Speaker 1: and you and you run the risk of giving up
- 16:24Speaker 1: some big plays when your guys are on islands, but
- 16:27Speaker 1: you also might win some downs, right, and this is
- 16:30Speaker 1: gonna be one of those boxing matches where they're gonna
- 16:33Speaker 1: get a few punches in. Like it's they're not going
- 16:36Speaker 1: to hold them to ten points, like Paul said, So
- 16:38Speaker 1: if you can I'm not saying necessarily zero blitz him
- 16:41Speaker 1: or anything like that, but if you can get some
- 16:43Speaker 1: pressure on him where you do win some series or
- 16:45Speaker 1: you do get a turnover, then you can kind of
- 16:49Speaker 1: offset some of the big plays you give up. But
- 16:51Speaker 1: you can't just stand there. You can't just watch them.
- 16:53Speaker 1: Mike's Roundtable. I like to sometimes throw out random stats
- 16:58Speaker 1: or whatever. I really got to start reading this, but
- 17:00Speaker 1: but I threw out that what we're hoping for, or
- 17:03Speaker 1: what I'm hoping for, is four four drives where the
- 17:07Speaker 1: Patriots make them punt, where they don't score points. Four
- 17:10Speaker 1: punts on four of their possessions, you know, and then
- 17:13Speaker 1: you hope you keep up with them points wise for
- 17:16Speaker 1: the rest. But are you're saying four drives that they
- 17:18Speaker 1: don't score, they don't score? Okay, that I think that's
- 17:21Speaker 1: I mean, that's reasonable because I mean four punts. I
- 17:24Speaker 1: think that's that's gonna lie. But four drives that they
- 17:26Speaker 1: don't score. Think back to that game that Evan's talking
- 17:28Speaker 1: about on Christmas. You had a fourth and one that
- 17:31Speaker 1: Emmanuel Sanders dropped the hit him in the face like
- 17:35Speaker 1: he like that. That that's a drive that they didn't score,
- 17:39Speaker 1: but you didn't make the punt. I think that could happen,
- 17:42Speaker 1: you know, for one play all you know, all of
- 17:44Speaker 1: a sudden, you know, they get a penalty and you know,
- 17:46Speaker 1: third and fifteen becomes fourth and three because thirty and
- 17:49Speaker 1: they go. What's the average amount of pus in a game,
- 17:52Speaker 1: like eight to ten? Ten? Ten? Yeah, you know, so
- 17:56Speaker 1: they're still going to score points. Yeah, but give give
- 17:59Speaker 1: us a breather. On four drives. You know that that
- 18:02Speaker 1: was a fourth down explosion that game three for four
- 18:06Speaker 1: and the Patriots were five for six. Now, do you
- 18:09Speaker 1: think that aggressiveness is a feature of Buffalo now or
- 18:12Speaker 1: do you think that that was a feature of Buffalo
- 18:14Speaker 1: against the Patriots? And if it was just for the Patriots,
- 18:17Speaker 1: do you think they'll maintain that aggressive mindset going against
- 18:20Speaker 1: this Patriots team that they haven't really had to maintain
- 18:24Speaker 1: that aggressive mindset necessarily. I think that's the way they
- 18:26Speaker 1: play much. I think that's the way almost everybody plays now.
- 18:29Speaker 1: It's it's amazing when you watch these games, how you
- 18:32Speaker 1: automatically just say, oh, yeah, they'll go for it like
- 18:35Speaker 1: that's it was so jarring in the I don't know
- 18:37Speaker 1: if you guys watched the Raiders and Seahawks. It was
- 18:40Speaker 1: like third and one from like the thirty five yard
- 18:42Speaker 1: line in overtime, thirty six yard line the Raiders, you know,
- 18:45Speaker 1: Josh Josh Jacobs gets caught in the backfield. It's fourth
- 18:49Speaker 1: in a long one maybe two. I was stunned the
- 18:52Speaker 1: field goal. I was stunned when the field goal unit
- 18:54Speaker 1: came out. I'm like, this is what everybody from everybody
- 18:59Speaker 1: else goes for here, and then he ended ended up
- 19:02Speaker 1: working out. He missed the field goal, but they got
- 19:04Speaker 1: a three and out and won the game anyway. But
- 19:06Speaker 1: I mean I was taken aback by that. I couldn't
- 19:09Speaker 1: believe that they were going for a field goal on
- 19:11Speaker 1: fourth and short. You think the Patriots need to be
- 19:12Speaker 1: that aggressive against the Bills, Like that's the one thing
- 19:14Speaker 1: I probably would take, Like, this is a game where
- 19:16Speaker 1: you gotta get sevens. I think if you're say beyond
- 19:21Speaker 1: you of forty forty five, I think, and it's less
- 19:25Speaker 1: than five, you know, you know I'm not going for
- 19:27Speaker 1: fourth and eleven for my own forty three. I mean,
- 19:29Speaker 1: that doesn't that's not smart either. But yeah, I think
- 19:32Speaker 1: they'll they'll roll that. Like I said, they were five
- 19:34Speaker 1: for six on fourth downd last year in that game.
- 19:36Speaker 1: I also just wandered too, to Fred's point that they're
- 19:38Speaker 1: going to get their points. They get them early if
- 19:41Speaker 1: they get like the first drive, you know, like they
- 19:42Speaker 1: get up ten nothing, you know, like a lot. It
- 19:45Speaker 1: feels like it depends on how the game unfolds. And
- 19:47Speaker 1: while I expect them to get their points. I just
- 19:49Speaker 1: I also feel like if the Patriots all of a
- 19:51Speaker 1: sudden in a ten nothing hole on the third possession
- 19:53Speaker 1: of the game, and you know, and they're chasing already
- 19:56Speaker 1: and they're starting to press and they're feeling the pressure
- 19:58Speaker 1: of the red zoom and all those below. Yeah, I
- 20:01Speaker 1: just it's it's it's big on the coin toss. If
- 20:05Speaker 1: do you take the ball? No, I defer neither. The
- 20:11Speaker 1: wind five five past five hundred is the a ticket
- 20:14Speaker 1: hot line eight five five past five hundred web radio
- 20:17Speaker 1: at Patriots dot com as the email address. Uh, it's
- 20:20Speaker 1: Saturday today, so there's a walkthrough with the team which
- 20:24Speaker 1: we won't have access to, so Evan doesn't have to return.
- 20:28Speaker 1: Just want to let people know that. Um but email
- 20:31Speaker 1: from Derek, he says. This morning, Jeff Howe of The
- 20:34Speaker 1: Athletic Old Friend wrote an article about the possibility of
- 20:38Speaker 1: Tom Brady coming back to New England this offseason. I
- 20:41Speaker 1: know this is all speculation, but you guys think this
- 20:43Speaker 1: would be something to consider or do we as New
- 20:45Speaker 1: England fans need to move on? Well, I mean everybody
- 20:49Speaker 1: knows I hate Brady, so no way. Well that's truth.
- 20:51Speaker 1: For you. See, I'm not telling you what you need
- 20:55Speaker 1: talk about that. I think I don't want to say
- 20:58Speaker 1: zero but less than one. Why why? Yeah, as much
- 21:02Speaker 1: as I would love to have him back here, I
- 21:05Speaker 1: just don't Yeah, I would, yeah, m as much as
- 21:10Speaker 1: I would love it, I don't think it's I don't
- 21:11Speaker 1: think it's in the best interest of the team. Believe
- 21:13Speaker 1: it or not. Yeah, you know, I just don't understand.
- 21:16Speaker 1: It would make me happy, but I don't think it's
- 21:18Speaker 1: the best thing to do. I just don't understand it
- 21:20Speaker 1: from from our perspectively, from the Patriots perspective, you bring
- 21:24Speaker 1: in a forty six year old Tom Brady, and then
- 21:27Speaker 1: you have who running the offense? I mean you, Tom,
- 21:33Speaker 1: You remember Matt. He was on the defensive side of
- 21:34Speaker 1: the ball when you're here. But he's got a new offense.
- 21:36Speaker 1: He's gonna share it with you. Tell us what you think.
- 21:37Speaker 1: Oh cute, Why don't you go over there. I'll take
- 21:39Speaker 1: care of this, I guess yeah. And then you also
- 21:43Speaker 1: are gonna do what to upgrade the pieces around him,
- 21:46Speaker 1: right like, because he want to come here now. Because
- 21:48Speaker 1: if you're the pieces around him get upgraded because of him.
- 21:50Speaker 1: But if you're pushing all in. Then you're pushing all in,
- 21:53Speaker 1: like if you're if you're bringing Brady back, I assume
- 21:55Speaker 1: that it would be because Belichick is coaching his last
- 21:58Speaker 1: year or two, and he push the chips all in.
- 22:01Speaker 1: A Rogers I just like the Bill thought he was
- 22:05Speaker 1: too old at forty three, let's bring him back. At
- 22:09Speaker 1: you guys, to me, it's not gonna happen. It sets
- 22:11Speaker 1: your franchise back, like it really does. It's not in
- 22:14Speaker 1: the best interest of the team. But you think differently
- 22:17Speaker 1: of Rogers, No, I don't. But I've just well Rogers,
- 22:26Speaker 1: Rogers conceivably has three or four more years, right, I
- 22:30Speaker 1: don't feel differently about Rogers. My thing with Rogers is
- 22:33Speaker 1: just I think it would be cool to see I've
- 22:35Speaker 1: already seen Brady and Belichick together, like I just want
- 22:38Speaker 1: to I just think it would be cool to see.
- 22:40Speaker 1: Totally totally fair, Um, that's what That's why they call it,
- 22:45Speaker 1: you know, fanatic. It's not always rational, and I get
- 22:48Speaker 1: that that's that's totally But Fred, if you were watching
- 22:51Speaker 1: both of those guys, if you watch Brady Sunday and
- 22:54Speaker 1: you watch Rogers Sunday, would you say one of those
- 22:58Speaker 1: guys has three or four more years than the other.
- 23:00Speaker 1: Left couldn't tell Rogers is hurt right now. Yeah, yeah, okay,
- 23:03Speaker 1: that's my point. I know. But like, I don't think
- 23:07Speaker 1: he has three or four more years more than Brady Left.
- 23:09Speaker 1: I think I think I don't think they'll be done
- 23:11Speaker 1: roughly the same time. Okay, I do I think this.
- 23:14Speaker 1: I think Rodgers is hurt right now, but I think
- 23:17Speaker 1: I think he could play another three four more years.
- 23:19Speaker 1: I will reiterate what I said about a month and
- 23:21Speaker 1: a half ago. He also doesn't care well. I actually
- 23:24Speaker 1: I really liked what Aaron Rodgers said yesterday. I think
- 23:26Speaker 1: they pulled a clip from from one of the talk
- 23:27Speaker 1: shows about have been McAfee, where like, you know, are
- 23:30Speaker 1: you gonna play if you're hurt? And he actually went
- 23:32Speaker 1: on like this whole thing like if you're a competitive
- 23:34Speaker 1: athlete and you have the competitive juices, like I'm gonna
- 23:36Speaker 1: be out there like no question, like you know question.
- 23:40Speaker 1: He said all the right things. I mean, usually he
- 23:41Speaker 1: doesn't say any of the right things anyway, but but
- 23:43Speaker 1: I was it was a rare moment of like, hey,
- 23:45Speaker 1: all right, you know I like that. I also think
- 23:47Speaker 1: to your Rogers point that I think you made that
- 23:49Speaker 1: point after next year with Mac, and if you get
- 23:51Speaker 1: through year three with Mac and you're like, you know what, right, Nope,
- 23:55Speaker 1: And then at that point maybe that's the kind of
- 23:57Speaker 1: option that that maybe would make sense, even if it
- 23:59Speaker 1: is just like for a bridge kind of thing or
- 24:01Speaker 1: you know, year or two. Right, all right, five five pats,
- 24:05Speaker 1: five hundred. Let's go to the a sticket hout line.
- 24:07Speaker 1: We got a busy show. We've got picks still later on, though,
- 24:11Speaker 1: is Big Head in the building, do we know? I
- 24:13Speaker 1: don't think so. No, there's no press conference in Oh yeah,
- 24:16Speaker 1: it's Saturday, Fred, It's Saturday. But Catch twenty two will
- 24:19Speaker 1: be after, will be Catch twenty two after this show?
- 24:23Speaker 1: Patty and Aguam's on the line. What's up shop? Everyone? Hey, Hey, Patty,
- 24:28Speaker 1: Hey Patty. So, I think I might be the one
- 24:34Speaker 1: fan that could put Fred to shame as far as
- 24:36Speaker 1: being a Homer, you know, big footy patriot, footy, pajama
- 24:40Speaker 1: wearing homer or fan. But I don't know. To me,
- 24:44Speaker 1: I just I have a hard time seeing them pulling
- 24:47Speaker 1: this game out. I could think of scenarios where they
- 24:50Speaker 1: couldn't win the game, But to me, it's just it's like,
- 24:53Speaker 1: you know, you're playing scenario and playing situational bingo where
- 24:56Speaker 1: you gotta hit like bingo twice on the board to
- 25:00Speaker 1: end up pulling this game out. Now, I do think
- 25:02Speaker 1: it's going to be competitive, and to me, one of
- 25:05Speaker 1: the big things, one of the big outliers is, and
- 25:08Speaker 1: this might sound ridiculous, is not having Christian Barrow Moore
- 25:11Speaker 1: on the line. So like, hopefully kind of forgotten about him,
- 25:14Speaker 1: haven't we. We haven't mentioned him in a while. That's
- 25:17Speaker 1: a good that's a good shout out there because he's
- 25:20Speaker 1: not been playing for how many games now for too well,
- 25:23Speaker 1: oh yeah, he's been on an I R for two.
- 25:25Speaker 1: But yeah, he's also really hasn't played very well this year.
- 25:30Speaker 1: Well I assume that that's injury related, but that's debatable.
- 25:33Speaker 1: There was a stretch where people said he was doing
- 25:35Speaker 1: a lot of stuff to help others. There was free
- 25:37Speaker 1: up others. I think I think got a lot of
- 25:39Speaker 1: double teams. People saw signs in one game. I thought, Okay,
- 25:42Speaker 1: I mean I chalk that up to health. I think
- 25:45Speaker 1: he hasn't been healthy. I think it was Marcus Spears
- 25:47Speaker 1: yesterday and on the NFL Show on ESPN whatever it's called, um,
- 25:51Speaker 1: but he was pointing that out. He said, you know,
- 25:53Speaker 1: after watching the Vikings game, he said, New England just
- 25:55Speaker 1: not getting any pressure on the inside. They don't really
- 25:57Speaker 1: have anybody what a healthy bar more of health than
- 25:59Speaker 1: that game. You gotta imagine. Yes, yeah, yeah, I think so.
- 26:03Speaker 1: I mean, I think it's this this another game. You
- 26:04Speaker 1: want him, but what you gonna do got Daniel quality
- 26:07Speaker 1: in there. It hasn't been a huge far more year
- 26:09Speaker 1: and there's still second in the league in sacks, like
- 26:12Speaker 1: third in pressure rate. So I'm not saying that he's
- 26:14Speaker 1: not important. I just think that they have gotten pressure
- 26:17Speaker 1: in other ways. But Judon mentioned that the Vikings. I
- 26:22Speaker 1: teen him up for it. The Viking has definitely paid
- 26:24Speaker 1: more attention to Judon last week than he's seen in
- 26:27Speaker 1: other games. Chips tight ends, staying and on his side,
- 26:31Speaker 1: you know, things like that. And he said, well, that's
- 26:36Speaker 1: fine with me. If other teams are going to bring
- 26:38Speaker 1: all this attention over to my side, that's fine. But
- 26:41Speaker 1: then the other guy's got to step up and make plays,
- 26:43Speaker 1: you know. Ja Dietrich wise, like those guys have to
- 26:46Speaker 1: take advantage of one on ones, which I think is
- 26:48Speaker 1: a bigger indictment of what happened on Thursday night was
- 26:51Speaker 1: that I don't know if those guys really stepped up.
- 26:53Speaker 1: Uj had the one sack that was a big one
- 26:55Speaker 1: in the red zone, but outside of that, it wasn't
- 26:58Speaker 1: a big game for either one of those two. So
- 27:00Speaker 1: he also mentioned schematically the coaching staff has to take
- 27:03Speaker 1: advantage of the fact that there's one on ones in
- 27:05Speaker 1: other places, right and figure out ways to get those
- 27:08Speaker 1: guys loose. So if that happens again, especially with Dawkins out,
- 27:12Speaker 1: they might be doing the same thing with Judean, then
- 27:15Speaker 1: you know it's on Dietrich Wise and Josh you Drew
- 27:17Speaker 1: have had good years that Dietrich Wise in particular to
- 27:19Speaker 1: get after the quarterback. Thanks Patty Um. Let's go to
- 27:24Speaker 1: Kiernan in San Francisco. What's up, Kernan? Hey, how's it going, guys?
- 27:28Speaker 1: Hoping it's a good Wednesday Saturday for you? Sure you
- 27:34Speaker 1: like three quick points? One you've got an emailer from
- 27:36Speaker 1: Colfax and none of you And now were Colfax is
- 27:39Speaker 1: the small town in his Year of Foothills by Sak
- 27:42Speaker 1: Just a nice tidbit. Okay, you're just talking about Barmore.
- 27:46Speaker 1: That's a new point I brought up. Do you think
- 27:48Speaker 1: Wise was going off because Barmore had all this attention?
- 27:53Speaker 1: And then lastly, Mike mentioned that, you know, if we
- 27:57Speaker 1: get this all star receiver, we're kind of in the
- 28:00Speaker 1: same spot the Vikings are. And Paul has mentioned multiple
- 28:04Speaker 1: times that, you know, good teams are good offensives can
- 28:07Speaker 1: still make a Super Bowl without an ol line or
- 28:09Speaker 1: a strong old line. Do you guys think that maybe
- 28:13Speaker 1: our focus should be more on the defensive front when
- 28:16Speaker 1: it comes to roster building in the future. I mean,
- 28:19Speaker 1: you know, look at the Bengals. They didn't have a
- 28:21Speaker 1: great and they got to the Super Bowl. I mean,
- 28:23Speaker 1: so it's it's it's a good question, you know, like
- 28:27Speaker 1: you can't have a bad offensive line though, you know,
- 28:31Speaker 1: unless you've got a great quarterback, you know, like a
- 28:35Speaker 1: Tom Brady can overcome it. I don't think Matt Jones can. Yeah,
- 28:38Speaker 1: so you're gonna have to You're gonna have to pay
- 28:42Speaker 1: attention to this offensive line in the off season. You know,
- 28:45Speaker 1: you're gonna have to do something. I mean, just look
- 28:47Speaker 1: at the league. You know, it's like look at the
- 28:48Speaker 1: look at who the contending teams are. Look how good
- 28:50Speaker 1: Miami is all of a sudden with Tyreek Kill. You're
- 28:52Speaker 1: not gonna get Tyreek Kill this offseason. But I just think,
- 28:56Speaker 1: I mean, you know, and I say this as a
- 28:57Speaker 1: guy who really enjoys defensive football, It's like it doesn't
- 29:00Speaker 1: really matter. Like you need a team that can make
- 29:02Speaker 1: some stops down the stretch against good teams, but at
- 29:05Speaker 1: the end of the day, everybody's gonna score. It's just
- 29:06Speaker 1: a matter of do you have an offense that can
- 29:08Speaker 1: score with them and is your team able to execute
- 29:10Speaker 1: at the end of the game. So it's you know,
- 29:12Speaker 1: to try to build a defense that's gonna shut down
- 29:14Speaker 1: Kansas City and Buffalo and Cincinnati and Miami. You know,
- 29:18Speaker 1: it just seems can you sue a defense? Can you
- 29:21Speaker 1: stress a defense? What I'm wearing? Can you avoid being
- 29:23Speaker 1: easy to defend? And I think it's and I think
- 29:25Speaker 1: it's easier to stress, you know, to make a couple
- 29:28Speaker 1: moves with you know, one or two guys, I mean
- 29:30Speaker 1: Miami being an example, getting a left tackle and getting
- 29:34Speaker 1: hill this year. But you know, with a couple moves,
- 29:36Speaker 1: you can elevate an offense and really, you know, change
- 29:39Speaker 1: some of that dynamic says, I think it's harder to
- 29:40Speaker 1: do on defense. Even if you get you know, a
- 29:42Speaker 1: shutdown corner, sure that's gonna, you know, help you out
- 29:45Speaker 1: in the matchups. Or you know, you have a great
- 29:47Speaker 1: von Miller off the edge finish or kind of guy.
- 29:49Speaker 1: Everybody wants that kind of guy. But I think overall,
- 29:52Speaker 1: you just you need to you need to address this
- 29:54Speaker 1: offense coming into the offseason. And you know, I mean,
- 29:56Speaker 1: I don't know if anybody else watched it, but Boomer
- 29:58Speaker 1: size or Boomer size Warner, Yeah, I watched his whole
- 30:03Speaker 1: hour long dissection of the Patriots offense. Again. Yeah, well
- 30:07Speaker 1: I put up I did double speeds. It was thirty
- 30:09Speaker 1: an hour. He did an hour on the vikings and
- 30:11Speaker 1: Mac Jones and and everything, and I mean, you know,
- 30:14Speaker 1: there's nothing new that we haven't talked about. But but
- 30:16Speaker 1: his thing is that if you're going to run simple concepts,
- 30:19Speaker 1: you gotta do them really well. And New England is
- 30:21Speaker 1: off on all the details right now. And it's, you know,
- 30:24Speaker 1: mac same thing we've talked about at you know, Mac Eyes,
- 30:28Speaker 1: not in the right spot at the right time, not
- 30:30Speaker 1: getting the ball out at the right time to make
- 30:31Speaker 1: the play. Routes being too closely spaced. Um, you know, so,
- 30:35Speaker 1: I mean, he didn't kill Patricia, but he did kill
- 30:39Speaker 1: just the overall details of everything, and that's something that yeah,
- 30:44Speaker 1: you know, the finer points. And I think that's when
- 30:45Speaker 1: we talked about a defensive guy coming in. There's so
- 30:48Speaker 1: much that goes into planning offensive football and so many
- 30:51Speaker 1: things that you learn and you're like, god, it seems
- 30:53Speaker 1: so complex to me. How do they know to go
- 30:55Speaker 1: to this play? To this play? And you know, and
- 30:57Speaker 1: and and Warner you know, dips on it a little
- 30:59Speaker 1: bit talking about out you know, we are we already
- 31:01Speaker 1: ran this once. Now you're doing it again. Why are
- 31:03Speaker 1: you screwing everything up and going to the wrong side
- 31:05Speaker 1: of the field. So it was just it was interesting
- 31:07Speaker 1: you mentioned like spacing, Yeah, on routes seems simple, But
- 31:11Speaker 1: that's coaching. That's coaching. That's going over and over it
- 31:15Speaker 1: again in practice and making sure you don't end the
- 31:18Speaker 1: practice until you get it right. I mean. And it's
- 31:20Speaker 1: and it's like when that Dan Orlosky thing first came out,
- 31:23Speaker 1: you know, you're kind of like, ah, he seems very
- 31:25Speaker 1: angry about this, like what's going on? But it keeps
- 31:27Speaker 1: popping up it's got you know. I mean, you know,
- 31:29Speaker 1: I'm not going to teach a class on route spacing,
- 31:32Speaker 1: but I know when there are two guys right close together,
- 31:34Speaker 1: they ain't getting the ball, you know. So it's it's
- 31:38Speaker 1: I tend to try to give a little bit of
- 31:40Speaker 1: benefit of the doubt, but you just keep hearing the
- 31:41Speaker 1: same things over and over again that this is not
- 31:43Speaker 1: a detailed oriented offense. It's very simple, and teams aren't
- 31:46Speaker 1: really going to be full by it, and you don't
- 31:47Speaker 1: have the athletes to outplay them within those simple schemes.
- 31:51Speaker 1: You so your execution has to be flawless, you know,
- 31:54Speaker 1: being on the same page. You know, a lot of
- 31:56Speaker 1: times you get that guys are in the same area
- 31:59Speaker 1: and you know that that's not the way it was
- 32:01Speaker 1: drawn up. And a lot of it is, well, you know,
- 32:04Speaker 1: a route adjustment. I thought when this happened, I was
- 32:07Speaker 1: supposed to do this, and the other guy isn't on
- 32:09Speaker 1: the same page and you end up in the same place.
- 32:11Speaker 1: I just wonder, have you asked any of the guys, like,
- 32:13Speaker 1: how much of the route adjustment post out they do
- 32:15Speaker 1: still now? Is that still part of I mean, sure, yeah,
- 32:17Speaker 1: it's still part of it. But I would say most
- 32:19Speaker 1: of what they're doing now is like site adjustment stuff
- 32:22Speaker 1: where Okay, I'm gonna sit this route down instead of
- 32:25Speaker 1: like continuing, or I'm gonna break it, you know out
- 32:28Speaker 1: instead of being But all that kind of stuff is
- 32:30Speaker 1: pretty common across the league. What they used to do before,
- 32:34Speaker 1: we're like full on option routes, which were totally different.
- 32:38Speaker 1: You know, that was more Julian Edelman on the Juke series,
- 32:42Speaker 1: you know, make a move and get open type of stuff. Right.
- 32:45Speaker 1: You know, this is more of conversions, I would say,
- 32:47Speaker 1: based off of the coverage than choice or option routes.
- 32:51Speaker 1: But they ran I can't probably a dozen times they
- 32:56Speaker 1: ran the same play against the Vikings over and over
- 32:59Speaker 1: and over again, double dig right, two dig routes on
- 33:02Speaker 1: the passing strength with the vertical on the back side,
- 33:05Speaker 1: and they ended up hitting Davante Parker on the big
- 33:07Speaker 1: big throw was on that concept because the Vikings overplayed
- 33:11Speaker 1: the two receiver side. But I mean every single time
- 33:15Speaker 1: they needed a play, like every time it was third
- 33:18Speaker 1: down and medium or long or they wanted to get
- 33:21Speaker 1: the drive started or hit a big play down the field,
- 33:24Speaker 1: they ran the same exact concept. And I think that
- 33:27Speaker 1: there are some some truth to that that it is simplistic,
- 33:31Speaker 1: it is rudimentary. Um, you know it worked against Minnesota.
- 33:34Speaker 1: They after for almost four hundred yards, So I can't
- 33:36Speaker 1: say it wasn't successful against the Vikings. But maybe that
- 33:40Speaker 1: says more about the Vikings, Karen. And that's just one,
- 33:42Speaker 1: just one point to make on top of that was
- 33:44Speaker 1: just that you know, Warner was saying like it's it's okay,
- 33:46Speaker 1: like they have some good concepts. We're not saying that,
- 33:49Speaker 1: but it has to be executed perfectly. And that's that's
- 33:52Speaker 1: where that's where the dis kind of and and I
- 33:54Speaker 1: think everything you guys talked about was fair, but there
- 33:56Speaker 1: was a phrase that Fred used that I kind of
- 33:59Speaker 1: agree with. And I is critical, as you guys know,
- 34:01Speaker 1: of the whole plan, right, we talked about that a
- 34:03Speaker 1: million times. But when you see two guys in the
- 34:06Speaker 1: same area, my initial reaction, and you see this around
- 34:09Speaker 1: the league, you know someone screwed up there. I never think,
- 34:13Speaker 1: look at this team, look at this coaching, look at
- 34:15Speaker 1: this play design, like which is where Ilovsky does every
- 34:17Speaker 1: time he breaks down the film. It's Matt Patricia is
- 34:20Speaker 1: satan And you know this is what this is what
- 34:22Speaker 1: he devised. I just and I'm not giving Matt Patricia,
- 34:25Speaker 1: Joe Judge, and Bill Belichick a pass because a lot
- 34:29Speaker 1: of this is on them. You know, Evan just told you.
- 34:30Speaker 1: They're running the same plays over and over and over again.
- 34:33Speaker 1: They are kind of simplistic. But I just can't blame
- 34:36Speaker 1: them for saying, well, they told those two guys to
- 34:39Speaker 1: go out and be within the yard of each other
- 34:40Speaker 1: where they turned around right like on the practice field.
- 34:44Speaker 1: It can't look like that. Like to me, some of
- 34:46Speaker 1: this has got to be on execution on the player's part. Yeah.
- 34:48Speaker 1: I wondered that too, some of it. And I wonder,
- 34:50Speaker 1: I wonder how much they're not translating what their route
- 34:53Speaker 1: is supposed to be based on the defense that they're seeing.
- 34:55Speaker 1: And you know a lot of things that that Warner
- 34:57Speaker 1: was kind of diagramming. It's just that you're you're you're
- 34:59Speaker 1: making it harder on everybody. You're bringing guy, you're giving
- 35:01Speaker 1: guys leverage, you're bringing other guys, you're making it easy
- 35:04Speaker 1: on them. You know, you're running right into them so
- 35:06Speaker 1: they don't even have to move. That was a kind
- 35:08Speaker 1: of a recurring theme of it was, you know, you know,
- 35:10Speaker 1: right off the snap, you're not instantly kind of forcing
- 35:12Speaker 1: their hand or making them to make any kind of declaration.
- 35:15Speaker 1: You're letting them just kind of sit there and be like, okay,
- 35:17Speaker 1: you're coming right at me, what are you gonna do?
- 35:18Speaker 1: And I saw a clip that Orlovsky put up of
- 35:21Speaker 1: the Ravens and their game on Sunday against Jacksonville, and
- 35:24Speaker 1: he showed there were two deep routes on the left
- 35:28Speaker 1: where someone r one ran a post, one ran a corner,
- 35:32Speaker 1: so there was like, you know, they're looking to take
- 35:34Speaker 1: a shot. They had a tight end clearing out underneath
- 35:37Speaker 1: coming across, and what I think a back going the
- 35:43Speaker 1: same direction as the tight end coming across, so going
- 35:46Speaker 1: to the right, which completely took Lamar Jackson's ability to
- 35:51Speaker 1: you know, okay, if if they're on this deep stuff
- 35:53Speaker 1: and you needed to have somebody come over in the
- 35:56Speaker 1: left flat to occupy there was a zone guy underneath
- 36:00Speaker 1: and balance it up. The guy wasn't threatened by anybody
- 36:02Speaker 1: because there was no one there, and he drops back
- 36:04Speaker 1: and he completely eliminated any chance they had taken a shot.
- 36:08Speaker 1: And Orloski's explaining this play, and I don't know if
- 36:11Speaker 1: he's right. He could be wrong, right, just like any
- 36:14Speaker 1: other any other guy, and he's saying, either the back
- 36:17Speaker 1: or the tight end does the wrong thing here, And
- 36:20Speaker 1: he surmised that it was probably the back because the
- 36:23Speaker 1: tight end dragging across underneath is makes a lot of sense.
- 36:26Speaker 1: The back has got to come over into the flat
- 36:28Speaker 1: to make somebody pay attention to him, otherwise you're given
- 36:31Speaker 1: him fifteen twenty four yards. And the back and the
- 36:35Speaker 1: tight end ended up in the same spot, so we
- 36:37Speaker 1: had no outlet, and he ended up throwing it away
- 36:39Speaker 1: over Devin DuVernay's head down because he wasn't open. But
- 36:44Speaker 1: he didn't like attack Greg Roman. He didn't make it
- 36:48Speaker 1: a personal vendetta. It was on the players, like, I
- 36:52Speaker 1: don't think this is designed to this way now. Greg
- 36:54Speaker 1: Roman gets a lot of heat exactly for his rudimentary
- 36:59Speaker 1: passing concept, but he didn't make it a personal attack.
- 37:02Speaker 1: He looked at and said, these two guys ended up
- 37:05Speaker 1: underneath a safety valves in the same spot. One of
- 37:07Speaker 1: them screwed up. Yeah, yeah, if it was a Patriot,
- 37:09Speaker 1: he would have said, I actually don't really have a
- 37:13Speaker 1: huge issue with most of their passing concepts and what
- 37:16Speaker 1: they run and the fact that they run a lot
- 37:18Speaker 1: of the same things. The biggest issue that I have
- 37:20Speaker 1: with their offensive play design is that they're not They
- 37:24Speaker 1: don't help guys use their skill sets to the upmost
- 37:29Speaker 1: of their abilities. Like, for example, everybody keeps asking me, like,
- 37:32Speaker 1: where's Taekwon Thorton? Like why is Taekwon Thorton? That's a
- 37:35Speaker 1: fair question. Why is he? Why is he? Another bust?
- 37:38Speaker 1: Like is it what's going on with him? And the
- 37:40Speaker 1: thing that I see on the film is that all
- 37:43Speaker 1: they're asking him to do is run go routes. He
- 37:45Speaker 1: just runs go routes the entire game. It just runs
- 37:47Speaker 1: up the field the entire game. And his only job,
- 37:50Speaker 1: and his only reason for being on the field is
- 37:52Speaker 1: to create space for others underneath the defense. And maybe
- 37:56Speaker 1: that's okay, but you can't take a shot to him. Well.
- 38:00Speaker 1: The problem that I have is is that if I
- 38:03Speaker 1: were going to see it tomorrow night with Isaiah McKenzie,
- 38:06Speaker 1: Isaiah McKenzie runs twenty crossing routes a game. That's all
- 38:11Speaker 1: they do. They send him on a crossing route from
- 38:14Speaker 1: left to right, and they do it from right to left,
- 38:16Speaker 1: and all they're doing is creating foot races for him.
- 38:20Speaker 1: That's it. He's a four two guy. There's not a
- 38:23Speaker 1: whole lot of guys on the planet that can keep
- 38:25Speaker 1: up with him in man coverage. And eventually he's just
- 38:28Speaker 1: going to run away from somebody and we're going to
- 38:30Speaker 1: hit him down the field. And sure enough against the Lions,
- 38:32Speaker 1: they hit a touchdown to him from like thirty yards
- 38:35Speaker 1: out on a crossing route. And that's all he does.
- 38:37Speaker 1: It's jet sweeps, it's drags, it's deep crossers, and his
- 38:41Speaker 1: whole route trees, crossing routes. And I look at the
- 38:43Speaker 1: Patriots with Taikwon, and I'm like, you have the same
- 38:47Speaker 1: guy on your You have a four two eight explosive
- 38:50Speaker 1: speed receiver that you don't do that with. You just
- 38:54Speaker 1: don't create foot races with him. You don't use him
- 38:57Speaker 1: to make any sort of threat to the defense other
- 39:00Speaker 1: than a vertical thread of Oh, let's just keep the
- 39:02Speaker 1: safety over the top of him, because we have to,
- 39:04Speaker 1: like there's a place for that. But if you're really
- 39:07Speaker 1: gonna unlock the player and get production out of him,
- 39:10Speaker 1: then you have to do a little bit more with
- 39:12Speaker 1: a player like that. You want Marcus Jones on him,
- 39:14Speaker 1: don't you tomorrow. Absolutely, But that's besides that, I know.
- 39:19Speaker 1: But see the thing, like Devin said, and like this
- 39:21Speaker 1: just kind of goes to the bigger point to me,
- 39:22Speaker 1: is and that was it was something you know, you
- 39:24Speaker 1: hear these like mantras that you come to believe over
- 39:26Speaker 1: twenty years of the Patriots are so good at putting
- 39:28Speaker 1: players in position to be successful, you know, and you know,
- 39:32Speaker 1: not to say that that the offense being complex necessarily
- 39:36Speaker 1: means that it's better than anything else, but it's just
- 39:39Speaker 1: it's so striking to me to hear these kind of
- 39:41Speaker 1: things that they're getting away from on offense and all
- 39:43Speaker 1: these things that you're hearing about, you know, whether whether
- 39:46Speaker 1: it's the coaching, whether it's the players, whatever it is,
- 39:48Speaker 1: what's on the field right now, it doesn't look like
- 39:51Speaker 1: a well orchestrated team. And that just continues to be
- 39:54Speaker 1: jarring to me for a team that over twenty years
- 39:57Speaker 1: we heard about how their attention to detail. What's the
- 39:59Speaker 1: big problem right now the details they put guys in
- 40:02Speaker 1: position to see they're not pulling guys in position to
- 40:04Speaker 1: see seeds. So it's you know, it's it's it's there's
- 40:06Speaker 1: so many issues going on that it's it's it seems
- 40:08Speaker 1: like a philosophical kind of thing almost more than just
- 40:11Speaker 1: like you want to boil it down to X's and
- 40:12Speaker 1: O's and Joe Jimmy's and Joe's and all that. But
- 40:15Speaker 1: I just I don't know why they've gotten away from
- 40:18Speaker 1: what has worked, and it just seems like they can't
- 40:20Speaker 1: really get back to it at this point. It's just
- 40:22Speaker 1: that things have been inconsistent, There've been mistakes. You know,
- 40:25Speaker 1: Mac looks like he doesn't know what's going on anymore.
- 40:29Speaker 1: I just I after watching that thing, I came out
- 40:31Speaker 1: of it being like, I hope that I hope they
- 40:33Speaker 1: have a good showing against the Bills. But I really
- 40:35Speaker 1: feel like I'm kind of hoping against hope that all
- 40:36Speaker 1: of a sudden, all of this stuff, all of it
- 40:39Speaker 1: is going to be fixed for a game. Maybe it
- 40:41Speaker 1: could get be fixed for a game five more games.
- 40:44Speaker 1: I don't know. I think you turn on like the
- 40:46Speaker 1: Bills or the Miami Dolphins or Tiree Kill, and people say, well,
- 40:50Speaker 1: Tiree kills just on a different planet from everybody else, right,
- 40:52Speaker 1: his speed is just different than anybody else in the league.
- 40:55Speaker 1: Go watch the Chiefs offense and go watch how they
- 40:58Speaker 1: use McCole Hardman, Right, Micole Hardman is the exact same
- 41:03Speaker 1: player that you drafted in Tae Kwon Thornton, okay, and
- 41:06Speaker 1: they just do all game long. He's running jet motions,
- 41:10Speaker 1: he's running crossers, he's running verticals like that's his whole game,
- 41:14Speaker 1: and they just find ways. It's like it's like tag
- 41:17Speaker 1: on the playground. You have the fastest kid on the playground,
- 41:20Speaker 1: so just run him around the field and find ways
- 41:22Speaker 1: to get him the ball in space. And that's what
- 41:24Speaker 1: all these other offenses do with their speed receivers. And
- 41:27Speaker 1: then we got poor Tai Kwon is trying to bring
- 41:29Speaker 1: press coverage on the outside on a go route twenty
- 41:32Speaker 1: times a game. He's he's, he's I've noticed it too
- 41:35Speaker 1: in these games though, when he gets pressed and guys
- 41:37Speaker 1: get their hands on him, he go flying, right. So
- 41:39Speaker 1: that's why you got the motion. That's why you got
- 41:41Speaker 1: to put him inside, That's why you got to get
- 41:43Speaker 1: him away from the press on the program. He's going
- 41:47Speaker 1: to come back. Let's kind of Eldred in North Carolina. Hey,
- 41:50Speaker 1: Eldred all right? Cause a four car accident? Whoa hello, congratulations,
- 42:00Speaker 1: Oh hold on you okay, okay, Evan. The reason why
- 42:05Speaker 1: they don't use Tycoon like that because you got guys
- 42:07Speaker 1: that don't how to use them like that. That's the problem.
- 42:10Speaker 1: For twenty years, Daniels, you had Brady, you had people
- 42:14Speaker 1: like that. You don't have them now. So I'm gonna
- 42:17Speaker 1: say one thing, like somebody I used to kill people
- 42:21Speaker 1: all the time for twenty years. The one guy got
- 42:24Speaker 1: me Thursday night, after watched the Viking and the Fakers game,
- 42:27Speaker 1: he said, ask Bill Belichick for me, why you got
- 42:30Speaker 1: a high school team playing in the NFL league with
- 42:33Speaker 1: the coach. Oh, yeah, that's a great question. That don't
- 42:36Speaker 1: work out. Well, I'll get you a credential next week
- 42:43Speaker 1: you come out. Why don't you send me a direct
- 42:45Speaker 1: message with the wording just the way you want it.
- 42:47Speaker 1: I'll make sure to get that down for it. And
- 42:49Speaker 1: then I went myself out that way the guys get
- 42:51Speaker 1: rid of me. Yeah. But my question is, like I
- 42:54Speaker 1: said before, you know, do you really want this team
- 42:57Speaker 1: go to the playoffs? Really? Yeah? Really? Yes, got a
- 43:02Speaker 1: chance of winning in the playoffs. I think they have
- 43:04Speaker 1: a better chance they go to the playoffs. That means
- 43:06Speaker 1: they have played better go down the stretch. Well, I
- 43:09Speaker 1: mean I just want them to have success. I mean, like, yeah, yeah,
- 43:12Speaker 1: we wantways work here, but like, yes, that's the goal.
- 43:15Speaker 1: Win games and make the playoffs. You know, they're not
- 43:17Speaker 1: going to get to the playoffs playing like they are now.
- 43:19Speaker 1: So if they get to the playoffs, that means they've improved.
- 43:22Speaker 1: They're also not going to get a top ten pick
- 43:24Speaker 1: if they missed the playoffs, So they're gonna be at
- 43:26Speaker 1: this point, we're just in the middle. Anyway. They're gonna
- 43:28Speaker 1: be picking fifteenth like they did after the CAM year,
- 43:30Speaker 1: and then where is that at? You will Levis yea,
- 43:37Speaker 1: Evan just give me a dirty look that in the
- 43:42Speaker 1: beginning of the year, I said, yeah, we got seed
- 43:44Speaker 1: on defense, but also said five eleven, five, ten, nine,
- 43:48Speaker 1: guys with speed ain't gonna match six one, six two
- 43:52Speaker 1: whide receiver was speed and four back can put them
- 43:53Speaker 1: on a DAN. And we saw that Thursday night, and
- 43:56Speaker 1: then that's coming up rest of the week, the rest
- 43:58Speaker 1: of the game. Ye know, we shall see. We shall
- 44:02Speaker 1: say wait, all right, thank you, thanks Alfred. Hey, you
- 44:08Speaker 1: know the whole bills thing, right, you know, people just
- 44:12Speaker 1: keep saying like it just hasn't looked right. It hasn't
- 44:13Speaker 1: looked right. They're owing two in the division. I wonder
- 44:16Speaker 1: if there's something to the fact that these division teams
- 44:19Speaker 1: now have seen Josh Allen and what he's gonna do,
- 44:21Speaker 1: and maybe that helped the Dolphins and the Jets in
- 44:24Speaker 1: the in their games they held them to seventeen points
- 44:26Speaker 1: and both of them, I think, and they're scoring like
- 44:28Speaker 1: thirty against everybody else. Maybe I just don't get it.
- 44:32Speaker 1: Why can't we even come to bunt? But what I'm saying,
- 44:36Speaker 1: maybe maybe the familiarity, you know, will will help a
- 44:40Speaker 1: little bit. You can email the show at web radio
- 44:43Speaker 1: at Patriots dot com and Travis and Collierville, Tennessee. Did says,
- 44:49Speaker 1: I believe the second quarter of Judon had a free
- 44:51Speaker 1: run at Cousins, and when Cousins threw it at about
- 44:54Speaker 1: shoulder level, Judon ducked out of the way. The past
- 44:57Speaker 1: was completed for first down. I believe in a few
- 44:59Speaker 1: other times they weren't getting their hands up on blockable passes.
- 45:03Speaker 1: Is this the product of ducking out of the way
- 45:05Speaker 1: slash breaking off at practice so the offense can get
- 45:08Speaker 1: to work in because it doesn't seem to be making
- 45:10Speaker 1: a difference. In the offense and now appears to be
- 45:13Speaker 1: hurting the defense on the field. I don't know, if
- 45:16Speaker 1: you're trying to survive with batted passes at the line
- 45:18Speaker 1: of scrimmage, then you got thereby they bat down passes
- 45:22Speaker 1: a practice that's not a Now I don't know what
- 45:25Speaker 1: the play is that we're talking about. I mean, the
- 45:28Speaker 1: way he's describing it, I'm thinking maybe Judon recoiled so
- 45:32Speaker 1: as not to hit the quarterback up high, right, you know,
- 45:36Speaker 1: you know, just again, I don't know what the play is.
- 45:38Speaker 1: But you know, sometimes if you're coming after a quarterback
- 45:40Speaker 1: and you're trying to knock down a pass, well just
- 45:43Speaker 1: think about it. I mean physics. I mean, you're going
- 45:45Speaker 1: to continue on and your momentum is going to take
- 45:48Speaker 1: you potentially above the shoulders and get a silly penalty. Yeah,
- 45:52Speaker 1: wasn't something I noticed in the film review, to be honestly, yeah,
- 45:55Speaker 1: I didn't, and i'm not. I'm not familiar with the
- 45:58Speaker 1: specific play that he's talking about. Jake can Ben Dingo
- 46:01Speaker 1: Australia writes in two things I need to get out there. One,
- 46:05Speaker 1: we've got two previous Bama quarterbacks taking the league by
- 46:08Speaker 1: storm in their third year, this being thanks to having
- 46:10Speaker 1: those wide receiver ones and a good supporting crew. If
- 46:13Speaker 1: we follow suit, could we get back to this level?
- 46:16Speaker 1: And is this apples to apples or apples to oranges?
- 46:19Speaker 1: So of course he's talking about two h and Jalen Hurtz,
- 46:23Speaker 1: spend my thing all year, Mike McDaniel, Tyreek Hill, Serenia
- 46:28Speaker 1: and Serenian whatever, Hey, thank you, Serenia whatever his name is.
- 46:35Speaker 1: It's like Evan couldn't be bothered that spend my thing
- 46:39Speaker 1: all year right too. Talking about the offensive coaches yesterday
- 46:43Speaker 1: had me thinking, what about our defensive coaches next year?
- 46:46Speaker 1: Steve will stay, but what if Mayo got offered a
- 46:49Speaker 1: high head coach or actual defensive coordinator job. Where would
- 46:53Speaker 1: we be if that happened? And what if Nick hille leaves?
- 46:56Speaker 1: I mean, I think that's that's I think they're in
- 46:58Speaker 1: good shape on defense. I think they'll be fine. DeMarcus Covington, Pellegrino,
- 47:03Speaker 1: those guys have been around the block little while. I mean,
- 47:05Speaker 1: you would think, you know, Drawd and Steve Belichick have
- 47:09Speaker 1: been doing it together long enough where if one either
- 47:12Speaker 1: one left, the other would be able to take on
- 47:14Speaker 1: a bigger role. I think only one would probably leave,
- 47:16Speaker 1: right But uh yeah, but it's like at some point,
- 47:22Speaker 1: at some point, you can't just keep hemorrhaging coaches though
- 47:25Speaker 1: and bringing back guys who were here previously, like you know,
- 47:28Speaker 1: I mean just a certain point of attrition. And I
- 47:31Speaker 1: mean I think they should definitely add to the coaching staff.
- 47:33Speaker 1: I'd love to see like a young offensive line coach coming,
- 47:35Speaker 1: you know, just kind of refill the coffers, Like it
- 47:39Speaker 1: just feels like they have been absolutely stripped to the bone,
- 47:41Speaker 1: and you consider continue to just you know, rely on
- 47:44Speaker 1: guys that have been around here, and it's like, you know,
- 47:46Speaker 1: at some point it's going to feel like it's Bill,
- 47:48Speaker 1: Steve and Brian sitting there trying to put a Patriots
- 47:51Speaker 1: team out of the field, the three of them. You know,
- 47:53Speaker 1: the news the good news is if you keep if
- 47:56Speaker 1: you don't start winning, they'll stop taking your coaches. But
- 48:00Speaker 1: the bad news is you haven't one stopped winning, right, Um,
- 48:03Speaker 1: But there is something too, you know, like he's he's
- 48:06Speaker 1: had so many of those coaching assistants that have been around.
- 48:10Speaker 1: They're there for four or five years, they graduate to
- 48:13Speaker 1: position coaches, and they eventually, you know, like Josh and Dable.
- 48:16Speaker 1: Did you know they were both coaching assistants will first,
- 48:22Speaker 1: But now I think some of these younger guys that
- 48:26Speaker 1: they've had in like you know, either coaching assistant roles
- 48:30Speaker 1: or you know, assistant position coaches. You know, um Bohart
- 48:38Speaker 1: agree which like the assistant quarterbacks coach or something like that, Josh.
- 48:41Speaker 1: You know, they're even losing guys like that like bo
- 48:44Speaker 1: like I don't know bo Heart agree from bow Jackson
- 48:46Speaker 1: like I don't I don't know what his acumen is.
- 48:49Speaker 1: But I'm just saying in the past, that would have
- 48:53Speaker 1: been a candidate like Nick kay We talk a lot
- 48:55Speaker 1: about Nick Kayley. That would have been a candidate like oh,
- 48:58Speaker 1: he's been in the program for three or four years now,
- 49:00Speaker 1: he's the quarterbacks coach of the last two years. Well
- 49:02Speaker 1: maybe when Josh leaves, he can be the offensive. And
- 49:05Speaker 1: even they're losing those guys, you know, at a very
- 49:08Speaker 1: early stage. So it's like some of it, I think,
- 49:11Speaker 1: is it right if your guys goes and takes a
- 49:14Speaker 1: bunch with them, right? And it's fair criticism to say, well,
- 49:17Speaker 1: how much longer did they think Josh was going to
- 49:19Speaker 1: be here? Like that? And that's a big felgern mazzism,
- 49:21Speaker 1: you know, like there was no plan, Mike, you know,
- 49:24Speaker 1: and I get it, and they're right, like there was
- 49:26Speaker 1: no plan. They had to know eventually he was leaving.
- 49:28Speaker 1: But at the same time, I do think that it's
- 49:30Speaker 1: not always black and white. I think some of those
- 49:34Speaker 1: probably were planned for and then all of a sudden
- 49:36Speaker 1: you end up losing. And that this wasn't the only
- 49:39Speaker 1: coaching cycle that they lost. They've lost like three or
- 49:42Speaker 1: four coaching and you know, Flores took some guys, you know,
- 49:44Speaker 1: Chad o'sha maybe was one of those guys where that
- 49:47Speaker 1: they wanted to be an offensive coordinator and he goes
- 49:50Speaker 1: with Flores five years ago, four years or whatever it was.
- 49:54Speaker 1: You know, I'm just again trying to point out I
- 49:57Speaker 1: have both sides. I have concerns about this with Gerard
- 50:00Speaker 1: and that I think on the offense, we're seeing it
- 50:03Speaker 1: happen right in front of our eyes too, where it's
- 50:06Speaker 1: obviously some of them are his sons, but Bill has
- 50:09Speaker 1: his guys. And if you're Nick Kayley and you're Girard Mayo,
- 50:13Speaker 1: like Gerard is not going to get the DC job
- 50:16Speaker 1: over Steve, like he's never going to be the actual
- 50:19Speaker 1: defensive coordinator, and clearly Nick Kayley gets jumped over by
- 50:23Speaker 1: Joe Judge and Matt Patricia on the offensive side of things.
- 50:26Speaker 1: So why would you stick around? Like there's no there's
- 50:29Speaker 1: no chance of upward movement here, Like there's no chance
- 50:32Speaker 1: of moving up the ladder on their coaching staff right now,
- 50:35Speaker 1: because he's gonna go with his guys anyways, right and
- 50:38Speaker 1: you're you know you you talk sometimes to you know,
- 50:41Speaker 1: those people and the players, and in the way they
- 50:43Speaker 1: talk about things. One of the things, one of the
- 50:45Speaker 1: ways that's been explained to us in terms of Steve
- 50:49Speaker 1: Belichick in Mayo is that Steve Belichick does a lot
- 50:54Speaker 1: of the planning, a lot of the excess knows, but
- 50:57Speaker 1: does not communicate it well of the team, you know,
- 51:01Speaker 1: standing up at a defensive meeting, that's Mayo's job. He's
- 51:05Speaker 1: the one that gets the message across. Have you heard
- 51:08Speaker 1: anything that's I would I think both of them take turns.
- 51:12Speaker 1: They call it presenting, Like I think both of them
- 51:14Speaker 1: take turns presenting. But I do think that Mayo is
- 51:18Speaker 1: more of the vocal leader of that group, and Steve
- 51:21Speaker 1: calls the players on game day Mayo runs the sideline.
- 51:23Speaker 1: That that's sort of the way that it's been as
- 51:26Speaker 1: well on game days. So I think that they do.
- 51:29Speaker 1: And look, you know, there are those two are inseparable,
- 51:32Speaker 1: Like those two are always together. We see him together
- 51:34Speaker 1: all the time. So I think they actually have a
- 51:37Speaker 1: really good relationship with each Yeah. So I don't think
- 51:41Speaker 1: that there's any There might be some some competitive or
- 51:45Speaker 1: professional friction, but I don't think it's personal. Um and
- 51:48Speaker 1: I but I think that there's I just think it's
- 51:52Speaker 1: tough to look at it and say, well, if I'm
- 51:55Speaker 1: DeMarcus Covington, like where where am I going to be
- 51:58Speaker 1: in three years? And I just I just would worry
- 52:00Speaker 1: if you lost Mayo. That that's a big part of
- 52:03Speaker 1: the communication. Yeah, I think he's got everybody's respect. He's
- 52:07Speaker 1: played in the league. I mean, and I you know,
- 52:09Speaker 1: I think back to a couple of those cracks that
- 52:12Speaker 1: we saw last year, most notably after the Dallas game
- 52:16Speaker 1: with Devin. You know, Devin openly saying what are we
- 52:19Speaker 1: doing on the on the game, you know, on the
- 52:22Speaker 1: fourth in or the third and whatever that. Yeah, you
- 52:25Speaker 1: know that that that was a call we all quite
- 52:28Speaker 1: you know, that's not the kind of stuff that you've hear.
- 52:30Speaker 1: You hear normally out of the Patris. So I'm just wondering,
- 52:34Speaker 1: like communication wise, I wonder if, yeah, you can have
- 52:37Speaker 1: all the schemes that you want. And I'm sure as
- 52:39Speaker 1: Steve Belichick is a smart football coach, right, how could
- 52:42Speaker 1: he not be with all the time he has spent
- 52:44Speaker 1: with his father. I just wonder if you lose that element,
- 52:48Speaker 1: you know, maybe DeMarcus Covington to Evans point, maybe Covington
- 52:52Speaker 1: is the guy who you know, takes on a bigger
- 52:54Speaker 1: role and he's a good communicator. Maybe it's Pellegrino. Maybe
- 52:57Speaker 1: it's one of the other younger enough given up to
- 53:00Speaker 1: coach him and him and Hoyer, they can take over
- 53:02Speaker 1: the offense and the defense problem solved. Colin and the
- 53:08Speaker 1: touchdown he's over the line with the ball in his hands,
- 53:10Speaker 1: I don't care what happens when he hits the ground.
- 53:13Speaker 1: Colin and Seattle. I found the Minnesota game to be
- 53:16Speaker 1: the best game for the offense this season and the
- 53:19Speaker 1: most confident I've seen Mack in the pocket as far
- 53:21Speaker 1: as allowing routes to develop and finding options downfield. Violent
- 53:25Speaker 1: agreement on the other side of the ball. I agree
- 53:27Speaker 1: with Paul and Mike that the Minnesota game was also
- 53:29Speaker 1: a huge blemish on the coaching staff for not having
- 53:32Speaker 1: a competent game plan for Justin Jefferson with a similar
- 53:36Speaker 1: caliber receiver in Digs. This week, they'll have to adjust
- 53:39Speaker 1: in order to prevent another total takeover. Nope, that being said,
- 53:43Speaker 1: what do you find more likely, not just for tomorrow,
- 53:46Speaker 1: but for the remainder of the season. The offense continues
- 53:48Speaker 1: to improve, develop sustained drives and put the ball in
- 53:52Speaker 1: the end zone, or the defense takes another step back
- 53:55Speaker 1: and it's twenty twenty one all over again. Which more likely? Yeah,
- 54:00Speaker 1: in the last six games, I'm gonna say that the defense,
- 54:04Speaker 1: the defense regresses to what they usually are. I don't
- 54:07Speaker 1: even know who you are anymore. Well, because the offense,
- 54:09Speaker 1: the bar is so low. I mean, they could they
- 54:12Speaker 1: could put twenty one. He could put twenty one points
- 54:15Speaker 1: up in each of the next few games, and you'd
- 54:16Speaker 1: be like, wow, I mean we're putting up twenty one points,
- 54:20Speaker 1: you know. Meanwhile, with the defense, I have concerns about
- 54:23Speaker 1: the defense. I mean I don't I don't want to
- 54:25Speaker 1: kill them and say that they're you know, as as
- 54:28Speaker 1: flawed as as I think they were last year. Because
- 54:30Speaker 1: last I'm not even killing them. I just think it's
- 54:32Speaker 1: really hard to play really good defense against good offenses
- 54:35Speaker 1: in that league. Yep, I think that's fair. I think
- 54:37Speaker 1: what I what I will hold against them is just
- 54:40Speaker 1: that if the sacks and the interceptions, that takeaways disappear,
- 54:43Speaker 1: you know, I think those are the things that just
- 54:45Speaker 1: you know, you need the defense to be to cause chaos,
- 54:48Speaker 1: to force bad decisions, to force bad throws to like
- 54:51Speaker 1: that's what you need. Like they get it. They're gonna
- 54:53Speaker 1: give up twenty eight to the bills like, no problem,
- 54:56Speaker 1: Like okay, but you need no offense to be able
- 54:57Speaker 1: to play with that too. That's the area that you
- 55:00Speaker 1: and I disagree a little bit on. Like you focus
- 55:02Speaker 1: on the takeaways like and obviously I'm takeaways. I mean,
- 55:06Speaker 1: I mean almost all of these games have decided the margin.
- 55:09Speaker 1: I just I see it as if you're a really
- 55:12Speaker 1: good defense, I want you to stop them once in
- 55:14Speaker 1: a while. Now, like I just said, it's really hard
- 55:17Speaker 1: to stop a good a good offense consistently. You know,
- 55:20Speaker 1: even even the best offense is you might get them
- 55:22Speaker 1: a couple of times, like the the AFC Championship game
- 55:25Speaker 1: in Kansas City. Yeah, they shut them out for a
- 55:27Speaker 1: half and then it was hold onto your hats. You know,
- 55:30Speaker 1: it's just really hard to play defense. And yeah, I
- 55:32Speaker 1: mean I think and I and I think. The way
- 55:34Speaker 1: I come at it is looking more at those as
- 55:37Speaker 1: a by product of how you're playing, so you know,
- 55:39Speaker 1: like not saying like we just have to go out
- 55:41Speaker 1: there and get a takeaway, like you know, like my
- 55:44Speaker 1: my feeling about it is that when you were playing
- 55:46Speaker 1: really good defense, those plays happen because offenses are on
- 55:50Speaker 1: their heels. They're making under pressured decisions that you know,
- 55:54Speaker 1: so as much as its interceptions and that and that
- 55:57Speaker 1: kind of stuff and sacks, to me, it's you know,
- 55:59Speaker 1: just as much about win in the line of scrimmage,
- 56:00Speaker 1: and you know, like going out there and being like
- 56:02Speaker 1: every down we're pushing these guys a yard back. And
- 56:05Speaker 1: you know, when we've seen it over the last couple
- 56:07Speaker 1: of years, you can see those games right out of
- 56:09Speaker 1: the gate. You know, you see the defense is like
- 56:11Speaker 1: who they got it today, you know, and and other
- 56:13Speaker 1: and I'm sure that's every defense, but and it happens
- 56:15Speaker 1: a lot like you see those teams that are at
- 56:17Speaker 1: the top takeaways, and then all of a sudden they
- 56:20Speaker 1: get in the playoffs and they have one of those
- 56:22Speaker 1: games where they don't take it away, and I mean,
- 56:24Speaker 1: it's it's I mean, you look at some of these
- 56:25Speaker 1: stats from the Patriots defense and like those you know,
- 56:28Speaker 1: like Eli Manning the Super Bowls where it's you know,
- 56:30Speaker 1: I mean that the eleven defense it just absolutely lived
- 56:33Speaker 1: on takeaways and that defense don't. And then you know,
- 56:37Speaker 1: but then they get to Eli to unthrow them Andy,
- 56:39Speaker 1: and you know, you get what you get. I just
- 56:41Speaker 1: hope they don't overreacts to fond Diggs. That's that's all
- 56:44Speaker 1: because I I when I when I look at like
- 56:46Speaker 1: covering receiver groups, like it's kind of like basketball. I'm
- 56:49Speaker 1: gonna cross sports for a second. It's like, we have
- 56:51Speaker 1: two options. We can either put all of our attention
- 56:54Speaker 1: into slowing down Kobe Bryant, or we can let Kobe
- 56:57Speaker 1: go for fifty, but nobody else is going to score, right,
- 57:00Speaker 1: those are like sort of your two options. And to me,
- 57:02Speaker 1: I would rather Digs have a big game, But Mackenzie
- 57:06Speaker 1: and Knox and Gabe Davis are not to be heard
- 57:09Speaker 1: of for the entire game. Then the opposite, because what
- 57:12Speaker 1: they did against Justin Jefferson, to my in my mind,
- 57:16Speaker 1: was they try to give them all this attention in
- 57:19Speaker 1: that game, especially I would say early on, but even
- 57:22Speaker 1: throughout the game, in that last play that we always
- 57:24Speaker 1: talk about on the field touchdown, and it just it
- 57:28Speaker 1: opened up everything else for the Vikings passing game. And
- 57:31Speaker 1: they now Kirk spreading it around. Now other guys are
- 57:34Speaker 1: getting involved, and I just I think that they overplayed
- 57:37Speaker 1: their hand on Jefferson. Yeah, but I just think if
- 57:40Speaker 1: I'm not going to revisit our argument from yesterday, but
- 57:44Speaker 1: I think if you're going to give all the attention,
- 57:46Speaker 1: like you're saying, don't give all the attention, you have
- 57:49Speaker 1: to do one or the other. If you're gonna give
- 57:51Speaker 1: all the attention, you have to take them away. If
- 57:54Speaker 1: you're gonna just shoot them like a regular receiver, then
- 57:57Speaker 1: that's that's okay. If you the other guys away. They
- 58:01Speaker 1: didn't either. Yeah, Jefferson dominated the game and the other guys,
- 58:05Speaker 1: Hawkinson and Finland made their plays. I guess, like, not
- 58:08Speaker 1: again not to get into the argument again, but to me,
- 58:11Speaker 1: one hundred and thirty five yards for a superstar receiver
- 58:14Speaker 1: like Jefferson is not dominating the game. See, that's dominating disagreement.
- 58:20Speaker 1: I think that he completely dominated the game. And I
- 58:22Speaker 1: think with a lot of these teams, when you have
- 58:25Speaker 1: that one guy that the quarterback loves and he has
- 58:29Speaker 1: them available when he needs them, that's fair, you're in trouble.
- 58:32Speaker 1: And I'm sorry. Nine for thirty six is dominating a
- 58:35Speaker 1: game a couple of years ago and the Patriots gave
- 58:37Speaker 1: up like two hundred and three touchdowns to Tyree Hill.
- 58:40Speaker 1: That's dominating the game, Okay, right, Like that, what Jefferson
- 58:44Speaker 1: did was he played a great game, Don't get me wrong,
- 58:46Speaker 1: But I just think that the fact that they were
- 58:48Speaker 1: able to spread a ball around really hurt them as well.
- 58:51Speaker 1: And I actually really like Jonathan Jones against Deefon Diggs,
- 58:55Speaker 1: Like I think that that's a pretty good matchup for
- 58:57Speaker 1: the Patriots because Diggs is not ay that wins the
- 59:00Speaker 1: ball down the field like justin Jefferson does. He's more
- 59:03Speaker 1: of a route runner guy that can create a lot
- 59:05Speaker 1: of separation, especially underneath, right, And I think that Jonathan
- 59:09Speaker 1: Jones actually in some ways matches up better against him
- 59:12Speaker 1: than jac Jackson did. Well, you better hope Paul's Foods here,
- 59:17Speaker 1: So we'll take a break, and I just want to

- 59:28Speaker 1: delivering packages. So that's why it was very brief. But

- 1:10:00Speaker 1: as overseas. I don't know if I'm right or wrong,
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: but I don't consider South America to be overseas. Seems
- 1:10:06Speaker 1: like overseas general refers to Europe or Asia. You'd be correct, emailer, Yeah, right, No,
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: maybe maybe you said it at the top of the emails.
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: And then why why is that not considered overseas? South America? Yeah?
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: Why is considered It's the same hemisphere? Could you get
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: there without going over a sea. Yeah, I guess you could. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: I suppose you could get there without going over the sea. Right,
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: Usually if you cross an ocean or a sea, it's overseas. Yeah,
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: but I would typically anything international if I know you're trying.
- 1:10:47Speaker 1: I know you if I like your explanation, but I
- 1:10:49Speaker 1: would agree with you. Why it wouldn't be consider South
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: America overseas. I just think it's a it's a synonym
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: for international overseas. People say internationally, they use it interchangeably
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: international and over Canada over he brought that home. No, okay,
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: he brought neigh it's international, not all international. He brought
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: that home. Though I liked what he just did there.
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: It's synonymous with international, but it's not right right right

- 1:11:20Speaker 1: from I miss those, you know, picking on Eric Fred
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: kind of yeah, I guess you could call it that,
- 1:11:27Speaker 1: but you know, rattling his cage. I think anytime when
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: somebody is so sure of themselves, it's good to be
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: knock them down a few, you know. Maybe there's more
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: of that in your future. Yeah, see, all right, eight
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: five five past five hundred is the a sticket hotline,
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: web radio at pagrits dot com is the email address
- 1:11:44Speaker 1: Todd's in North Carolina. What's up, Todd? Todd? You guys
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: brought up a really good point about usually the Patriots
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: put people in places that they can succeed, and they
- 1:11:54Speaker 1: haven't really been able to do that as much lately.
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: And I think it's because they might be spread too
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: thin on coaching. I don't know, maybe these players, maybe
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: the players don't have the talent, but it just seems
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: like you can only focus on so much because you
- 1:12:05Speaker 1: only have so many people available. And Bill can't do offense, defense,
- 1:12:09Speaker 1: and special teams. And he doesn't seem to have anybody.
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: He doesn't have leadership in aidim, he doesn't have an
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: offensive coordinator, he doesn't have a defensive coordinator. There's just like,
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: who's who's putting these people in the place to be
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: successful other than Bill? Yeah, yeah, I mean, you know
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: that that's kind of a you know, a bigger thing.
- 1:12:31Speaker 1: But you know, I think every team tries to put
- 1:12:33Speaker 1: their players in positions to succeed. The question is are
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: they able to take advantage of that opportunity, you know,
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: and that gets down to talent. You know, especially when
- 1:12:43Speaker 1: you're talking about you know, Taekwon Thornton, a second round pick,
- 1:12:45Speaker 1: a guy with great speed. You know, you know your
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: philosophy going into this offseason of how we wanted to
- 1:12:51Speaker 1: get faster, and you know, it's not just putting him
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: in positions to see, but putting him in position to
- 1:12:55Speaker 1: develop and to gain confidence into, you know, be a
- 1:12:58Speaker 1: player that they can count on when they have some
- 1:13:01Speaker 1: wide receiver turnover going this year. And I think unfortunately,
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: the path we're kind of heading down is you know,
- 1:13:05Speaker 1: I don't want to say it's a lost rookie year
- 1:13:07Speaker 1: for him, but I don't think anybody's gonna have sky
- 1:13:09Speaker 1: high expectations that Taykwon Thornton's going to be a major
- 1:13:12Speaker 1: piece of the offense last next year. And I think
- 1:13:14Speaker 1: that that's you know, disappointing. You know, you you hope
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: that at the very least you had some kind of
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: something out of him that that made you think, all right,
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: next year, this guy will will give us something. And
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: I think it's something that they need. They need speed,
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: they need exposed to scoring. But you got to use them, right,
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: you got to develop them, and you know, it's it's
- 1:13:29Speaker 1: not what you guys like to make fun of me
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: when I tell you what the narratives will be. You
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: know ahead of time that will be an offseason narrative.
- 1:13:35Speaker 1: What big big Yea Andrew and La writes for usual,
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: I'm here to defend Paul. This is correct that Jefferson
- 1:13:44Speaker 1: did not go off for one ninety three against the
- 1:13:46Speaker 1: Pagrites like he did against the Bills. However, the Vikings
- 1:13:49Speaker 1: targeted Jefferson sixteen times opposed to the eleven times he
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: was targeted in the Patriots games. The Patriots allowed nine
- 1:13:56Speaker 1: catches on eleven targets. That it helps your argument that
- 1:13:59Speaker 1: is does that is a domination from a wide receiver standpoint.
- 1:14:02Speaker 1: The Bills at least forced six and completions, and he
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: also had an other worldly catches. And he also had
- 1:14:09Speaker 1: an extra quarter to get that extra yardage in the
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: Bills game due to it going to overtime. In the
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: Bills game, Cook also rushed for one hundred nineteen yards.
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: They were a balanced offensive attack. To say that the
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: Patriots did not let Jefferson beat them is assinine Cook
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: only ran him. Cook only ran for forty two yards.
- 1:14:29Speaker 1: Of the Patriots game was all on Jefferson's shoulders. I
- 1:14:31Speaker 1: don't know if I agree with that. Okay, So they
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: held Dalvin Cook in check. They completely took him out
- 1:14:38Speaker 1: right game, okay, two yards to carry about it, and
- 1:14:41Speaker 1: Jefferson only went for one thirty five, right. I don't
- 1:14:44Speaker 1: know why you keep saying before it's because he's justin Jefferson.
- 1:14:49Speaker 1: He doesn't have thirty five yards a game. He averages
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: over one hundred. I just don't know what would constitute
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: like having an impact on the game, Like he had
- 1:14:57Speaker 1: a huge impact on the game, and it's gonna have
- 1:15:00Speaker 1: many people in the game that that wouldn't happen, that's all.
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: And I was jarred by it. I did not feel
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: he was going, you know, well over one hundred yards
- 1:15:09Speaker 1: in that game. I didn't think it would happen, Okay.
- 1:15:11Speaker 1: I figured they would do everything they could to make
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: someone else beat them, and they didn't. So he had
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: he had one thirty nine, right, nine for one thirty
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: nine and the touchdown. Kirk Cousins threw for two hundred
- 1:15:22Speaker 1: and ninety nine yards in the game, So that means
- 1:15:25Speaker 1: that one hundred and you do one hundred and sixty
- 1:15:28Speaker 1: thank you yards had to come from someplace else. He
- 1:15:31Speaker 1: had one touchdown. They scored twenty six offensive points, so
- 1:15:36Speaker 1: that means that nineteen other points had to come from
- 1:15:38Speaker 1: someplace else. I'm not saying that justin Jefferson didn't have
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: a huge impact on the game. He had a massive
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: impact on the game because the Patriots let him have
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: a massive impact on the game. So you say, oh,
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: the caller says that he was targeted sixteen times in
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: the game against the Bills. That does not help your argument.
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: It does were able to if he's getting the targeted
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: sixteen times and the meets he's opened was open on
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: that fourth down, why are you why would he may
- 1:16:05Speaker 1: be throwing not necessarily, why would they be like he
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: was covered? Like, yeah, we've targeted sixteen times, but he
- 1:16:15Speaker 1: only caught twelve. No. No. In the other game they
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: stopped six of him. He only he caught ten of them.
- 1:16:23Speaker 1: You know, Um, I don't know. I'm gonna anyway, rope Um.
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: We've had it out enough of that, Drew writes in
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: about Max's progression. We saw what is likely the best
- 1:16:35Speaker 1: game Mac has played all year. Question Mark, how concerns
- 1:16:39Speaker 1: should we be that it's a spurious game only possible
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: due to the weakness into the Viking secondary, or can
- 1:16:45Speaker 1: we hold out hope that he's turned a corner in
- 1:16:48Speaker 1: terms of confidence in the pocket and his receivers. He
- 1:16:50Speaker 1: looked fairly angry and upset after the game. Could that
- 1:16:54Speaker 1: be a sign he's back to where we've seen him
- 1:16:56Speaker 1: all year? I don't know. I mean, we'll see how
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: the protection is. You know that. I mean, von millerbean
- 1:17:03Speaker 1: Out's big, but I think you know he had some
- 1:17:05Speaker 1: protection Earlyanni looked comfortable. I don't want to put it
- 1:17:07Speaker 1: all on Minnesota that oh, they only the only reason
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: he had any successful because they were terrible. I mean,
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: you know it wasn't that. I mean, and considering what
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: you've seen in the past from the Patriots. I have
- 1:17:16Speaker 1: some numbers, yeah, yes, yes, in the back. So Kirk
- 1:17:19Speaker 1: Cousins threw for three hundred and fifty seven yards against Buffalo,
- 1:17:22Speaker 1: two hundred and ninety three of them went to Justin Jefferson,
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: so the other one hundred and sixty four I stand corrected.
- 1:17:30Speaker 1: He only threw for two hundred and ninety nine yards
- 1:17:31Speaker 1: against the Patriots and one hundred and thirty six of them,
- 1:17:34Speaker 1: So one hundred and sixty three of them went out
- 1:17:36Speaker 1: the places. So I stand corrected. He definitely had a
- 1:17:39Speaker 1: bigger impact on the Buffalo game. I was wrong the
- 1:17:41Speaker 1: one yard difference. I was wrong, Snarkey, Paul, it's not
- 1:17:45Speaker 1: snart like, you can't possibly tell me that he didn't
- 1:17:49Speaker 1: have a similar impact in those two games. Well, Mike
- 1:17:51Speaker 1: and London Ontario says, just want to make sure I
- 1:17:53Speaker 1: understand Evans point correctly. Seven for one, forty three and
- 1:17:57Speaker 1: three touchdowns on twelve targets is dominating the game. Nine
- 1:18:02Speaker 1: for one, thirty nine and eleven and one touchdown on
- 1:18:05Speaker 1: eleven targets is being kept in check? Is that correct?
- 1:18:08Speaker 1: I have no idea what he's talking about. Where where
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: the first set of number set Tyreek Hill number or
- 1:18:12Speaker 1: something Tyreek had, Like, I don't know. It definitely felt
- 1:18:16Speaker 1: like it was more than that. I don't know. I
- 1:18:17Speaker 1: can't remember he did well in both games. Oh, let's
- 1:18:20Speaker 1: say that, yes, he was a problem. I didn't say
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: that he did. I didn't tell you that he was
- 1:18:25Speaker 1: better against the Patriots than Buffalo. I didn't think that
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: he would be similar, and he was like, that's that
- 1:18:32Speaker 1: was the only point I was trying to me. I
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: didn't really think it was a controversial point to be
- 1:18:35Speaker 1: honest when it comes down to for me and to
- 1:18:36Speaker 1: finally make my blastin to say, is that if all
- 1:18:41Speaker 1: they gave up defensively, No, I don't mean all, but
- 1:18:45Speaker 1: like the worst thing that happened in that game defensively
- 1:18:48Speaker 1: was one thirty nine and a touchdown for Justin Jefferson,
- 1:18:51Speaker 1: then they win the game. And if the worst thing
- 1:18:53Speaker 1: that happened in the Buffalo game was one ninety three
- 1:18:55Speaker 1: to touchdown, the Bills win the game. Matter of fact,
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: they should have won the game anyway. Like I don't
- 1:19:01Speaker 1: really understand. I'm not I'm not no, because I don't
- 1:19:03Speaker 1: really out to other guys, and they and he only
- 1:19:06Speaker 1: scored one touchdown, they scored thirty points. It's I don't
- 1:19:08Speaker 1: really care about the Bills game, Like I don't care
- 1:19:10Speaker 1: about it. But that was what the whole thing was about,
- 1:19:12Speaker 1: was I didn't think they would let them to happen
- 1:19:15Speaker 1: to them, what happened to the Bills. That was the
- 1:19:17Speaker 1: whole reason for my bringing it up in the first place. Okay,
- 1:19:21Speaker 1: that's all. Uh. James Pettigrew, the most interesting Patriots fan
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: of the world, rights saying are the days of everything
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: works out for the Patriots over have you noticed the
- 1:19:30Speaker 1: change and key opposition players out, ref calls going our
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: way or any of the other fictitious methods you use
- 1:19:36Speaker 1: your view on this and the nod our gospel to me? Oh, thanks, James.
- 1:19:41Speaker 1: The nod. I haven't seen a lot of the nod
- 1:19:43Speaker 1: lately though, I mean, I think it's a private nod.
- 1:19:47Speaker 1: The Colts game, I gave a nod, but yeah, not Yeah,
- 1:19:51Speaker 1: I haven't given tough to make a nod. I don't
- 1:19:53Speaker 1: think even after the Marcus Jones punt return you were
- 1:19:55Speaker 1: still kind of Oh no, I don't know those two
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: Craig Craig, but I would disagree with I mean, I
- 1:20:06Speaker 1: would disagree with some of that. I think that there's
- 1:20:08Speaker 1: still been plenty of reasons why, I mean, key players
- 1:20:12Speaker 1: are out for key game. You know, I'm not necessarily
- 1:20:15Speaker 1: talking other teams too. Yeah, I'm not necessarily talking about injuries,
- 1:20:18Speaker 1: but like breaks in the span of games, like the
- 1:20:22Speaker 1: calls are definitely going against the Patriots, and this in
- 1:20:25Speaker 1: that in the Minnesota games consistently, without question. Yeah, they
- 1:20:30Speaker 1: have without question in the Minnesota I was, you know,
- 1:20:32Speaker 1: by the way I was, I was, I caught a
- 1:20:34Speaker 1: little of our friend Greg on Felgrass. He talked about
- 1:20:37Speaker 1: the hunter Henry one two, the third down that I
- 1:20:39Speaker 1: talked about that I thought was a miss call. Yeah,
- 1:20:43Speaker 1: everybody had that. No, I didn't even realize it until
- 1:20:45Speaker 1: I just I like, I like when they let them
- 1:20:48Speaker 1: play in the secondary. To me, if you hit a
- 1:20:50Speaker 1: guy before the ball gets there, I want to flag, yeah,
- 1:20:53Speaker 1: which they which, ironically enough, that's the one that's never called.
- 1:20:57Speaker 1: You can kill a guy like you get their bank,
- 1:21:00Speaker 1: but you hit him before the ball gets there, They're
- 1:21:02Speaker 1: gonna let it go nine times out of ten. But
- 1:21:05Speaker 1: you know, you take the guy's towel out on his
- 1:21:06Speaker 1: break and up, that's a hold. Craig and Hoboken love
- 1:21:10Speaker 1: the beginning of yesterday's show when Paul went silent for
- 1:21:13Speaker 1: about ten minutes after we couldn't get anyone to admit
- 1:21:15Speaker 1: that Justin Jefferson ruined the game for the Patriots the
- 1:21:18Speaker 1: same way he did against the Bills. I should have
- 1:21:20Speaker 1: gone silent. At the beginning of the show when Fred
- 1:21:22Speaker 1: was doing his intro, I could feel his silent disbelief
- 1:21:25Speaker 1: as Evan and Fred tried to convince us the d
- 1:21:27Speaker 1: wasn't really that bad. I just wanted to get your thoughts.
- 1:21:30Speaker 1: I was gonna say, I don't think either one of
- 1:21:32Speaker 1: you said that I'll have to defend you. Then they
- 1:21:35Speaker 1: weren't as bad as Fred kind of said that. I
- 1:21:39Speaker 1: don't remember Evan saying that. Now. I just wanted to
- 1:21:41Speaker 1: get your thoughts. I felt like all week leading up
- 1:21:43Speaker 1: to the Vikings we talked about how the Vikings D
- 1:21:45Speaker 1: was not great, how the scheme is an ideal matchup
- 1:21:48Speaker 1: for our receivers to be able to find the soft
- 1:21:50Speaker 1: spots in the zone, and how this was a winnable game.
- 1:21:53Speaker 1: Matt played his best game of the year, maybe of
- 1:21:55Speaker 1: his NFL career. I guess my worry here is, did
- 1:21:59Speaker 1: we just see the ceiling of this offense? Will ever
- 1:22:02Speaker 1: look better than it did Thursday? If so, I don't
- 1:22:04Speaker 1: see too many more winnable games on our calendar. Just
- 1:22:07Speaker 1: about everyone left has an elite receiver in a capable quarterback,
- 1:22:11Speaker 1: and I feel like our d is really more like
- 1:22:14Speaker 1: we saw on Thanksgiving than what we saw on the
- 1:22:16Speaker 1: front and the first half of the year. I can
- 1:22:19Speaker 1: tell people have not watched the Arizona Cardinals offense this
- 1:22:21Speaker 1: year and just are going off of name brand recognition
- 1:22:24Speaker 1: with Kyler and DeAndre Hopkins, right, I think that you
- 1:22:28Speaker 1: can expect to move the ball and score points against
- 1:22:30Speaker 1: the Cardinals and the Raiders. I think those teams. The
- 1:22:35Speaker 1: Raiders defense is really really bad. I think you have
- 1:22:38Speaker 1: to I mean, you know, we're almost throwing parades about
- 1:22:43Speaker 1: what looks like a functional offense finally to appear on
- 1:22:46Speaker 1: the field for us. But I mean, I think they
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: can be better. I mean, they just they got to
- 1:22:50Speaker 1: show some clutch at the end. You know, they got
- 1:22:52Speaker 1: to make some plays at the end of a game.
- 1:22:53Speaker 1: And it's weird, like you know, it's not always a
- 1:22:56Speaker 1: equals B and B equill see than ach we'll see
- 1:22:59Speaker 1: in the NFL, you know, like matchups are different on
- 1:23:02Speaker 1: every team and sometimes just you know, you get against
- 1:23:05Speaker 1: a team where you know, you think you have the matchup,
- 1:23:08Speaker 1: but there's something about you know, individual matchups that the
- 1:23:13Speaker 1: other team you know, does better than expect it. And
- 1:23:16Speaker 1: so I don't think like just because they played a
- 1:23:18Speaker 1: certain way against the Vikings, you're gonna see that same
- 1:23:21Speaker 1: thing down the road. It's really different week to week
- 1:23:24Speaker 1: with the different teams. I just you know, like like
- 1:23:27Speaker 1: like Jacksonville, for a long time. The Colts couldn't beat them,
- 1:23:31Speaker 1: you know, and the Cults were better team. You know,
- 1:23:34Speaker 1: It's just weird how the NFL works that way. Sometimes.
- 1:23:37Speaker 1: I'm interested to see how the Jets do against the
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: Vikings this week. You know, how does Sauce Gardner match
- 1:23:41Speaker 1: up with you know, Justin Jefferson and I just just generally,
- 1:23:44Speaker 1: how does how does Mike Kee. They're gonna be just
- 1:23:48Speaker 1: let him go one on one. He's gonna get like
- 1:23:50Speaker 1: nine for one, thirty six again. Oh yeah, but they're
- 1:23:52Speaker 1: gonna get to Cousins. Yeah, you know, they'll do what
- 1:23:55Speaker 1: we didn't do. I'm they're gonna be better. These are
- 1:23:58Speaker 1: the big games we're watching now. I mean, yeah, if
- 1:24:00Speaker 1: you're realistically you know, especially the AFC NFC ones, like
- 1:24:03Speaker 1: you could make an art like you know when when
- 1:24:09Speaker 1: two AFC teams are playing each other, you know, Cincinnati
- 1:24:11Speaker 1: in Kansas City, you know they played each other this week. Yeah,
- 1:24:15Speaker 1: we're probably rooting for Kansas City because Cincinnati's closer in
- 1:24:18Speaker 1: the wild card, But like when they're huge when they
- 1:24:21Speaker 1: play in the NFC, because someone's going to benefit from
- 1:24:23Speaker 1: Kansas City Cincinnati. Only only one team can benefit from
- 1:24:28Speaker 1: Jets Minnesota and that's the Jets, you know, in terms
- 1:24:30Speaker 1: of the Patriots playoff holds, so that is a huge game.
- 1:24:34Speaker 1: I also love how Miami sant Franz too. Right, Yes, yes,
- 1:24:39Speaker 1: we took so many calls about Bailey's app beyond this show,
- 1:24:42Speaker 1: and nobody wanted to talk about how the Browns and
- 1:24:45Speaker 1: the Lions are horrible defenses. And then Mac Jones carves
- 1:24:48Speaker 1: up an average Minnesota defense and it's and it's like,
- 1:24:51Speaker 1: oh wait, but he was playing the Vikings and their
- 1:24:53Speaker 1: defense is bad. Oh really, those defenses were I'm sure
- 1:24:57Speaker 1: the list the single worst defense in football at the time. Right,
- 1:25:00Speaker 1: But nobody besides Paul, nobody like this show. We've talked
- 1:25:07Speaker 1: about it at length, how bad. But when Mac Jones
- 1:25:10Speaker 1: plays an average Minnesota defense and puts up four hundred yards,
- 1:25:14Speaker 1: now it's just that the Vikings. I have not heard this,
- 1:25:17Speaker 1: And when when Evan just brought up Zappy, it gave
- 1:25:21Speaker 1: me reminded me. I haven't heard this combat. But evidently
- 1:25:25Speaker 1: Tim Hasselbeck was on ESPN yesterday and you know, I
- 1:25:30Speaker 1: think it was part of Get Up maybe, and I
- 1:25:34Speaker 1: didn't hear the context, and I didn't hear I still
- 1:25:36Speaker 1: haven't seen the clip, but evidently he alluded to towards
- 1:25:40Speaker 1: the end of the clip that there's still some um
- 1:25:47Speaker 1: zappy backers in the Patriots locker room. Tim Hasselback, No, no, no,
- 1:25:52Speaker 1: I like, I don't know if I'm just I'm just
- 1:25:56Speaker 1: I found it fascinating, like Matt coming off his best
- 1:25:59Speaker 1: game him and for the timing of that, I thought,
- 1:26:03Speaker 1: you know, I thought that was interesting. I don't think
- 1:26:05Speaker 1: Tim Hasselbeck is in the Patriots locker room. I don't
- 1:26:08Speaker 1: think he's talking to Patriots players all the time. I don't.
- 1:26:10Speaker 1: That's not what I'm trying to say. But he's also
- 1:26:12Speaker 1: not a guy. He's not like Stephen A. Smith where
- 1:26:16Speaker 1: he's like plugged in, no, throwing crap over without any
- 1:26:21Speaker 1: without any basis, and trying to be a muckraker. It's
- 1:26:24Speaker 1: not what he's been about. Do you think there's somebody
- 1:26:27Speaker 1: said something in him? Would be my guest. Yeah, it
- 1:26:30Speaker 1: might have been second, second or third hand, could be.
- 1:26:32Speaker 1: I think Nikovich was like in the tunnel the other
- 1:26:34Speaker 1: day YEA opened the Jets game. So like Nikovich is
- 1:26:38Speaker 1: on ESPN with Hasselbeck, you know, just kind of connecting dots.
- 1:26:43Speaker 1: Alex and Raleigh. Last week, our defense had a tough
- 1:26:46Speaker 1: time stop in the big plays in the air to
- 1:26:48Speaker 1: Justin Jefferson. Tomorrow, we have a different challenge trying to
- 1:26:51Speaker 1: contain Josh Allen and limit digs in the passing game.
- 1:26:54Speaker 1: I think this will have to be a game where
- 1:26:56Speaker 1: we do our best to cover digs and just let
- 1:26:58Speaker 1: Josh Allen run around and see if he makes mistakes
- 1:27:01Speaker 1: trying to make big plays. I know it may sound
- 1:27:03Speaker 1: like a lousy way to win, but letting the opponent idea,
- 1:27:06Speaker 1: but letting the opponent make mistakes has been part of
- 1:27:09Speaker 1: the formula for us to win the last few seasons
- 1:27:11Speaker 1: because of the lack of talent. When you're playing bad teams,
- 1:27:14Speaker 1: that works. Do you think the defense struggled in the
- 1:27:16Speaker 1: Vikings game because of the short turnaround. Will the week
- 1:27:19Speaker 1: between games give them more time to prepare for Buffalo
- 1:27:22Speaker 1: and limit the big plays? Maybe can't hurt That last
- 1:27:25Speaker 1: part was the most truth. He said. Yeah, I don't know.
- 1:27:28Speaker 1: I mean, I would I mean, maybe this is foolish,
- 1:27:31Speaker 1: but I would say if a defense look tired, I
- 1:27:33Speaker 1: think they get kind of pushed around in the run
- 1:27:34Speaker 1: game a little bit more. You know that that's more.
- 1:27:37Speaker 1: I also go back to that Friday press conference when
- 1:27:40Speaker 1: Bill talked about how much work they had done in
- 1:27:42Speaker 1: Minnesota during the bye week. So I think that they
- 1:27:45Speaker 1: had a lot of prep work for Minnesota. But do
- 1:27:48Speaker 1: you think we run around as the total opposite. That's
- 1:27:52Speaker 1: not what I want to do. And I'm not get
- 1:27:53Speaker 1: them like I think it's connat. I just I think
- 1:27:57Speaker 1: that the key for the Patriots to have success is
- 1:27:59Speaker 1: forcing some turnovers. But I'm not going to stand around
- 1:28:02Speaker 1: and wait for him to throw it to him because
- 1:28:05Speaker 1: that thing, I know what havn't brought up earlier where
- 1:28:07Speaker 1: it's just like like they're like they're having like a
- 1:28:08Speaker 1: prayer circle around him, like I'm really trying to get
- 1:28:11Speaker 1: at you, and you know he's just sitting there like
- 1:28:12Speaker 1: you no, you know, you know there it is, you know,
- 1:28:15Speaker 1: right down the field. But you know what I was
- 1:28:17Speaker 1: gonna say real quick me, do you think do you
- 1:28:19Speaker 1: think the Zappie thing's gonna linger into camp next year?
- 1:28:21Speaker 1: Training camp? I mean, is there any way that over
- 1:28:23Speaker 1: the last sea I played plays like he played Thursday
- 1:28:27Speaker 1: over the balance of the last six games. I don't
- 1:28:29Speaker 1: think it will, right. But but if you play like
- 1:28:32Speaker 1: you did against the Jets and the Colts in the
- 1:28:34Speaker 1: games before that. I think it will. Yeah, Spi and
- 1:28:36Speaker 1: Fresno says, I felt pleasantly Evin will be like a
- 1:28:39Speaker 1: pleasure to deal with all offseason will be awesome. I
- 1:28:42Speaker 1: felt pleasantly wrong after the Vikings game, thinking maybe Mac
- 1:28:46Speaker 1: turned a corner. But you've all correctly noted Mac didn't
- 1:28:49Speaker 1: step up in the clutch, so big questions remain. I
- 1:28:52Speaker 1: know it might be a sad sack mentality, but like
- 1:28:54Speaker 1: I said this past off season, I'm less concerned with
- 1:28:57Speaker 1: winning a playoff game this year than with seeing can
- 1:29:00Speaker 1: you'd uptick from Matt If you had to choose, which
- 1:29:02Speaker 1: would you prefer one. Mac assens as an increasingly effective quarterback,
- 1:29:07Speaker 1: but the Patriots don't make the playoffs because the defense
- 1:29:10Speaker 1: falls apart or Mac remains as he's been in other words,
- 1:29:15Speaker 1: doesn't convincently improve but the defense. The Patriots make it
- 1:29:19Speaker 1: to the divisional round riding on a resurgence of the
- 1:29:22Speaker 1: defense and a running game, so that means they won
- 1:29:24Speaker 1: a playoff game. Right. Wow, I'd rather win the playoffs.
- 1:29:28Speaker 1: I'd love to win a playoff game that I take
- 1:29:30Speaker 1: the first one what are they gonna do with the
- 1:29:33Speaker 1: draft pick? No, no, no, I don't care about the
- 1:29:35Speaker 1: draft pick. I think it's more important that Mac Jones
- 1:29:38Speaker 1: takes a discern like a noticeable step forward and establishes himself.
- 1:29:42Speaker 1: I know he's really good. Like you didn't. You didn't
- 1:29:44Speaker 1: win the playoff game ten three, which is describe a
- 1:29:47Speaker 1: bitter pill. There is the defense falls apart, you know then, yeah,
- 1:29:50Speaker 1: but I can I can deal with that. You need
- 1:29:52Speaker 1: to score points to win in that league. I know,
- 1:29:54Speaker 1: like I don't like, let's let's just put it this way.
- 1:29:56Speaker 1: I'll give you, like a really realistic scenario that that
- 1:29:58Speaker 1: could happen and you and I don't think you guys
- 1:30:00Speaker 1: would feel great about it. You play Tennessee in the
- 1:30:03Speaker 1: first round and you win thirteen ten. Yeah, No, I
- 1:30:06Speaker 1: like Tennessee is a game that you can win because
- 1:30:08Speaker 1: of the way they play. Right now, I agree with
- 1:30:11Speaker 1: you there, yeah, And I would rather say, well, we
- 1:30:14Speaker 1: fell short of the playoffs because the defense wasn't good enough,
- 1:30:16Speaker 1: but we started scoring thirty points a game. We've got
- 1:30:19Speaker 1: one bucks checked going into the next Right now, if
- 1:30:22Speaker 1: I can figure out you know a couple of ways, now,
- 1:30:25Speaker 1: I know I can score. If I can score, I
- 1:30:27Speaker 1: have a shot. Merely the whole like cliche, like, as
- 1:30:31Speaker 1: long as I got Brady, I got a shot. Why
- 1:30:33Speaker 1: was that a real thing? Because you knew he was
- 1:30:35Speaker 1: going to get you thirty every game. Yeah, and he
- 1:30:38Speaker 1: would be right up until the sixtieth minute of the game.
- 1:30:41Speaker 1: He would be fighting and would have a chance. He's
- 1:30:43Speaker 1: gonna get you thirty. If he can just do the
- 1:30:46Speaker 1: fread and make him not score three or four times,
- 1:30:49Speaker 1: I'm gonna win a hell of a lot of games
- 1:30:52Speaker 1: because my guy's going to score more often than not.
- 1:30:54Speaker 1: So if you get mac Jones, not to Brady's little
- 1:30:57Speaker 1: but if you get mac Jones to that consistently good
- 1:31:00Speaker 1: level where he's throwing for three hundred yards every week
- 1:31:03Speaker 1: and you're scoring some points, I'd take that over a
- 1:31:06Speaker 1: playoff win, all right, I agree with that. It's already
- 1:31:09Speaker 1: it's Wednesday, but kind of like a Thursday on a
- 1:31:12Speaker 1: Saturday before a Thursday game. So it's that time of
- 1:31:15Speaker 1: the week. Paul, what happened last week? A Uh, Well,
- 1:31:25Speaker 1: it was disappointing week last week because it wasn't a
- 1:31:29Speaker 1: lot of audience participation. No um Evan and Alex never
- 1:31:34Speaker 1: gave me any picks. It's a tough week. Even I
- 1:31:38Speaker 1: gave picks so direct from the bus. It was a
- 1:31:42Speaker 1: thanksgiving for all um. We all treated the holidays equally.
- 1:31:45Speaker 1: We all went ten and six O Mike, Paul, Fred
- 1:31:49Speaker 1: ten and six with the spread, Fred and Paul nine
- 1:31:54Speaker 1: and seven, Mike eight and eight. So we were all
- 1:31:57Speaker 1: right around the same, bunched around getting the field update
- 1:32:00Speaker 1: one ten sixty nine and one for me, one game behind,
- 1:32:04Speaker 1: ninety nine sixty four and one for Mike, one oh
- 1:32:06Speaker 1: two seventy seven and one for Fred. With the spread.
- 1:32:10Speaker 1: I continue to amaze myself one oh seven seventy and three,
- 1:32:14Speaker 1: although that knocked my winning percentage down a tick. Eighty
- 1:32:19Speaker 1: nine eighty eight and three for Mike and seventy seven
- 1:32:24Speaker 1: one hundred and three for Fred. Yeah, I got some
- 1:32:28Speaker 1: making up to do it getting down there, all right.
- 1:32:31Speaker 1: So we're actually gonna skip over tomorrow night's game. I
- 1:32:36Speaker 1: mean we're gonna go right to Sunday at one, where
- 1:32:39Speaker 1: the four and seventh Steelers are visiting the five and
- 1:32:43Speaker 1: seven Falcons Atlanta by one and a half by one
- 1:32:47Speaker 1: and a half, Pittsburgh pulling out a win there. On
- 1:32:50Speaker 1: Monday Night football, short turnaround, go to Atlanta. I don't know.
- 1:32:55Speaker 1: I don't really like Atlanta. They just they're up and down.
- 1:32:58Speaker 1: I'm gonna take Pittsburgh. I don't know, this one's kind
- 1:33:00Speaker 1: of whatever. I'm taking the Steelers as well. No, Kyle
- 1:33:04Speaker 1: pitts Now for the Falcons, I think is a big one.
- 1:33:06Speaker 1: And although it was a little Mac Jones rookie year
- 1:33:09Speaker 1: from Kenny Pickett where it wasn't much down the field,
- 1:33:12Speaker 1: I thought that he looked okay in that Colts game. Yeah,
- 1:33:15Speaker 1: he's getting better. I think he's showing signs of improvement.
- 1:33:18Speaker 1: I'm going to take Atlanta, however, because of what Mike said,
- 1:33:21Speaker 1: the short turnaround, back to back road games, Uh, I
- 1:33:24Speaker 1: think that's tough. The Falcons have been competitive in every game.
- 1:33:27Speaker 1: They've had a chance to win every game. They stink too,
- 1:33:30Speaker 1: but I'll take the home team. I'm gonna take the
- 1:33:32Speaker 1: Falcons as well. I think the Steelers did everything they
- 1:33:35Speaker 1: could to avoid losing to Jeff Saturday because of the
- 1:33:39Speaker 1: comments that the coach had, and they barely did it. Um. Yeah,
- 1:33:44Speaker 1: did Saturday screw that game up? At the end? I
- 1:33:46Speaker 1: hurt it was brutal. Yeah, I mean they were just
- 1:33:50Speaker 1: they were out of but I think it was like
- 1:33:52Speaker 1: a third down play maybe, and it was just everybody
- 1:33:54Speaker 1: was in chaos and you're like call a time out?
- 1:33:56Speaker 1: What do you yet? All three of them? And yeah,
- 1:33:58Speaker 1: he's after the game said recret right, I'll go with
- 1:34:00Speaker 1: the Falcon Sunday at one to three and eight Broncos
- 1:34:03Speaker 1: or at the seven and four Ravens. Wow, back to
- 1:34:06Speaker 1: back road games for the Sunday night. Yeah, Baltimore by
- 1:34:11Speaker 1: eight eight. Yeah, let's hope we get news like that
- 1:34:14Speaker 1: next Tuesday. For good reason, I didn't see any of
- 1:34:17Speaker 1: that Baltimore game last weekend. But it's a good game. Weird, weird,
- 1:34:20Speaker 1: good game. It was a weird game. Was another red
- 1:34:22Speaker 1: zone game. Ravens couldn't score in the red zone. Yeah, well,
- 1:34:25Speaker 1: I'll take the Ravens against Denver. I also just read
- 1:34:27Speaker 1: that only half the team showed up to Russell Wilson's
- 1:34:29Speaker 1: birthday party, so there might be some problems. What's what's
- 1:34:33Speaker 1: the quarterback limited? What's the quarterback's name? And the draft day?
- 1:34:37Speaker 1: No one much was birthday? I forget and I'm proud
- 1:34:40Speaker 1: of myself. I don't remember that that movie was I
- 1:34:44Speaker 1: thought it wasn't okay, it was okay, I cut like
- 1:34:48Speaker 1: like for the type of movie, it was no, no,
- 1:34:51Speaker 1: I thought they did it. It was Smontsey and my wife,
- 1:34:54Speaker 1: who knows nothing about football, somehow she right like this
- 1:34:57Speaker 1: is great, like she understood the draft, like no problem
- 1:35:01Speaker 1: that I'm over there, Like yeah, I was doing Evan
- 1:35:06Speaker 1: couldn't get ustic nature of the trade exactly. Yeah, that's
- 1:35:10Speaker 1: exactly what I was. Where's the scouts? The film breakdown?
- 1:35:13Speaker 1: That's what people were. Why why can't you just bring
- 1:35:15Speaker 1: in a consultant of like this is how It's like
- 1:35:18Speaker 1: Mike Lombardi is just sitting there on his podcast nobody wants.
- 1:35:23Speaker 1: Can you imagine if he was involved in that, at
- 1:35:26Speaker 1: least they would have had some semblance of realistic And
- 1:35:28Speaker 1: he was at the Browns for a while too. Oh
- 1:35:30Speaker 1: the ego that would have been involved in that. Okay,
- 1:35:33Speaker 1: So Baltimore Bright A sorry, yeah, the Sharps know something here.
- 1:35:38Speaker 1: Otherwise I think it would have been seven and a hey,
- 1:35:41Speaker 1: do you have a pick? Evan, Um Paul just ignores it.
- 1:35:46Speaker 1: I'm taking Baltimore. I just this Russell Wilson situation in
- 1:35:50Speaker 1: Denver is horrible. It's horrible submarine that franch. So I'm
- 1:35:54Speaker 1: taking Baltimore. I'm gonna take him the cover too. Yeah,
- 1:35:56Speaker 1: I am too. I don't like laying more than a
- 1:35:58Speaker 1: touchdown with the Ravens because uh, they're not good at that,
- 1:36:01Speaker 1: but the Broncos can't score, right, I will take the Ravens.
- 1:36:05Speaker 1: Like I said, the Sharps do know something they set
- 1:36:07Speaker 1: to at eight for it's not shock, but I think
- 1:36:12Speaker 1: that you go with the Ravens here Um Sunday at one,
- 1:36:16Speaker 1: the four and eight packers are at the three and
- 1:36:19Speaker 1: nine Bears pack pack is by two. God and so
- 1:36:24Speaker 1: is this Trevor Simeon again or is this Justin Fields?
- 1:36:27Speaker 1: I can't imagine justin Field. Why would you can't imagine either?
- 1:36:29Speaker 1: And I don't And I just said Aaron rod wind
- 1:36:31Speaker 1: pass something on Aaron Rodgers too. I don't know what
- 1:36:33Speaker 1: what his He's got a rib is um YEA tough,
- 1:36:37Speaker 1: tough pick at this point in the week, but I'm
- 1:36:40Speaker 1: gonna go. I'm gonna go with green Bay. That kind
- 1:36:42Speaker 1: of owned Chicago forever, so might not. Yeah, I'm with Mike.
- 1:36:46Speaker 1: I'm gonna go green Bay as well. Just to let
- 1:36:49Speaker 1: everybody know, the Patriots drafted Cole Strange over Christian Watson.
- 1:36:52Speaker 1: Don't forget Oh I liked Watson, Yeah he was. He
- 1:36:55Speaker 1: was on my board. Don't forget not Pickens. You are
- 1:36:58Speaker 1: not gonna kill him for Pickinson. No, that would often understand.
- 1:37:03Speaker 1: I have Green Bay in this game to Chicago. I
- 1:37:06Speaker 1: thought was one of the worst teams in football hitting
- 1:37:09Speaker 1: in and they've lived up today. Yeah, I'm gonna go
- 1:37:12Speaker 1: with the Pack as well. Sunday at one four and
- 1:37:15Speaker 1: seven Jaguars coming off a big come from behind. When
- 1:37:19Speaker 1: are at the four and seven Lions Detroit by one
- 1:37:23Speaker 1: and Detroit they they're they've got a win Street coning
- 1:37:26Speaker 1: too themselves. Yeah, they're playing back lost on things. They
- 1:37:29Speaker 1: lost the right right to the to the Buffaloes. Yeah,
- 1:37:32Speaker 1: I'm gonna take Detroit though, to bounce back at home
- 1:37:35Speaker 1: against the Jags, and I will lay that one point. Sorry, Mike,
- 1:37:39Speaker 1: I'm with Detroit as well. I just think Jacksonville super
- 1:37:42Speaker 1: Bowl was last week. I think they got up for
- 1:37:44Speaker 1: that game and that's all she wrote. Yeah, sorry, Evan,
- 1:37:47Speaker 1: I am with Detroit as well. Uh. And every time
- 1:37:49Speaker 1: I take Detroit it's an absolute lock of a loss. Yeah,
- 1:37:52Speaker 1: So I apologize that I'm with you, guys. I am
- 1:37:55Speaker 1: gonna buck the trend. I'm going with Jaguars and Trevor
- 1:37:58Speaker 1: Lawrence happy for the kids. Fred has a lit I do.
- 1:38:03Speaker 1: I hate it when great talent goes wasted, and I
- 1:38:06Speaker 1: hope he doesn't. I thought it was the hair. Like
- 1:38:08Speaker 1: the hair, it's like well conditioned. Um. So I think
- 1:38:11Speaker 1: the Jaguars pull this one out. Sunday at one four
- 1:38:15Speaker 1: and seven, Browns coming off a win over the Bucks
- 1:38:19Speaker 1: are at the Texans one nine and one. Cleveland and
- 1:38:24Speaker 1: Deshaun Watson, Oh by seven, Oh the fighting. Deshaun Watson's
- 1:38:29Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, this is this is I'm gonna feel
- 1:38:31Speaker 1: the way A massage this boy in the house. I'm
- 1:38:35Speaker 1: gonna I think there's gonna be a happy ending on
- 1:38:37Speaker 1: this game. Cleveland, Oh, mother mouth. I'm gonna take Cleveland, um,
- 1:38:44Speaker 1: and I'm gonna lay the points. I feel I feel
- 1:38:46Speaker 1: bad doing that though. I gotta take the Browns because
- 1:38:49Speaker 1: the Texans are terrible. But I do hope that Deshaun
- 1:38:52Speaker 1: Watson like tears his acl or something like that. I
- 1:38:56Speaker 1: can't even believe I'm on this show taking Cleveland. I'm
- 1:39:00Speaker 1: taking Cleveland and Jacoby Brissette after Deshaun Watson there, you
- 1:39:04Speaker 1: guys know, I will take Cleveland as well. I thought
- 1:39:08Speaker 1: it was interesting, you know, Brissette talking. You know, like
- 1:39:10Speaker 1: I proved that on the starting quarterback in this league,
- 1:39:12Speaker 1: and I'm like, did you did you? You didn't really
- 1:39:15Speaker 1: look that four and seven? I will take the Browns. Yeah.
- 1:39:19Speaker 1: I love me some Jacoby Brissette, but I don't want
- 1:39:21Speaker 1: him playing quarterback. Well, my team trying to get my
- 1:39:23Speaker 1: hands around this game. Um, I'm gonna take the Browns.
- 1:39:27Speaker 1: But you know what, I think the Texans cover. I
- 1:39:30Speaker 1: think the Texas cover being back in Houston and all
- 1:39:33Speaker 1: that stuff. For evidently ten of the victims are going
- 1:39:37Speaker 1: to be at the game with the lawyer. That's great.
- 1:39:39Speaker 1: It is that what it is going to be with
- 1:39:40Speaker 1: Buzz the lawyer. I think put them all together. That
- 1:39:43Speaker 1: guy's a snaky buzz Aldrin Tony buzzby buzz Aldrin. Uh
- 1:39:50Speaker 1: Sunday at one the seven and four Jets, we talked
- 1:39:53Speaker 1: about this game, or at the Vikings nine and two
- 1:39:57Speaker 1: Vikings by three the Mighty Mighty Skull. This is such
- 1:40:00Speaker 1: the Vikings to just lose this game. I mean, that's
- 1:40:02Speaker 1: what they are, right like that this is like feels
- 1:40:04Speaker 1: like it, um, But I am curious how they match up.
- 1:40:07Speaker 1: I'm gonna I'm gonna give Minnesota the benefit of the
- 1:40:10Speaker 1: doubt based on how they play, but I have full
- 1:40:11Speaker 1: knowledge that Kirk Cousins could look completely different in this
- 1:40:15Speaker 1: game and lose to the Jets. This is such a
- 1:40:17Speaker 1: weird game because I agree with you totally on your
- 1:40:21Speaker 1: Vikings take, but I also think that Water might find
- 1:40:24Speaker 1: its level with Mike White. So it's like which one
- 1:40:26Speaker 1: do you lean towards it? And I'm gonna lean towards
- 1:40:29Speaker 1: the Vikings at home just because they're at home and
- 1:40:31Speaker 1: Fred and I were in that building. That building is awesome,
- 1:40:34Speaker 1: Like it gets loud in there. It's a great atmosphere.
- 1:40:38Speaker 1: So I think that that's a factor that Minnesota and
- 1:40:42Speaker 1: I like the melt. Yeah, there no gout in my drink.
- 1:40:45Speaker 1: It's a faith. But what is it that is? Like,
- 1:40:47Speaker 1: I don't know what it is. I'm sure it's not
- 1:40:49Speaker 1: nothing poisonous. Um. We'll find out in a couple of years.
- 1:40:52Speaker 1: I'm gonna take the cheese, I'm gonna take the Jets,
- 1:40:54Speaker 1: I'm gonna take the for it. Evan unfolded all of
- 1:40:58Speaker 1: the decides perfectly. I can see it. I'm just gonna
- 1:41:01Speaker 1: ride the hot hand. I think that they looked like
- 1:41:03Speaker 1: a different offense with him. I think they looked like
- 1:41:05Speaker 1: they had more fun playing with him. He was like,
- 1:41:07Speaker 1: you know, actually checking it down. It does, it does
- 1:41:11Speaker 1: sounds it sounds just like that. I have no illusions
- 1:41:13Speaker 1: that he's the answer. But until he plays bad, he's
- 1:41:16Speaker 1: gonna play. I think he goes on the road and
- 1:41:20Speaker 1: they come back three three Minnesota Karin Wilson. Yeah, I'm
- 1:41:25Speaker 1: gonna hedge here. I'll take the vikings, but I'll take
- 1:41:29Speaker 1: the points. I'll take the points. Uh. Sunday at one
- 1:41:33Speaker 1: seven and five commanders are at the seven and four
- 1:41:37Speaker 1: Giants unbelievable with Washington has done under young Taylor Heinik. Yeah,
- 1:41:43Speaker 1: uh uh Washington by one and a half on the
- 1:41:46Speaker 1: road one and a half. Tough, tough, tough, tough. Um.
- 1:41:51Speaker 1: You know, I'm not gonna do it though. I'm gonna
- 1:41:53Speaker 1: stick with the day bole and uh Danny Jay and
- 1:41:56Speaker 1: I'll take the vikings. Would you say? One giants one
- 1:41:59Speaker 1: on a hey, hey, yeah, I'll take I'll take the
- 1:42:01Speaker 1: Giants and I'll take those points at home. What did
- 1:42:05Speaker 1: I say yes, Oh god, I'm gonna take the Giant there.
- 1:42:09Speaker 1: Giants are home dogs. That's interesting, home dogs. I take
- 1:42:14Speaker 1: the Giants, and for that reason, I'm taking the Giants
- 1:42:16Speaker 1: as well. Home dog. Yeah, giants for me as well.
- 1:42:20Speaker 1: Sunday at one, the seven and four Titans are at
- 1:42:24Speaker 1: the ten and one Eagles, Eagles by five and a hey,
- 1:42:29Speaker 1: oh yeah. Usually I'm I like the I like the
- 1:42:32Speaker 1: frighting Vrabels. I mean I do. I continue to be
- 1:42:34Speaker 1: amazed by, you know, just how solid a football team
- 1:42:37Speaker 1: they are. But I don't think it's enough against the
- 1:42:40Speaker 1: explosive Philadelphia Eagles offense. I will take them, and I
- 1:42:42Speaker 1: will lay those points. I'm taking the Eagles. The Eagles
- 1:42:46Speaker 1: offense is like what I dream of and like my
- 1:42:49Speaker 1: my fevorite dreams, just like all the quarterback round elements
- 1:42:52Speaker 1: solid RPOs. I didn't know you had a girlfriend. I
- 1:42:55Speaker 1: would absolutely doubt it. Like this is what I'm in
- 1:42:59Speaker 1: love with, this is what he dreams, my fever dreams.
- 1:43:04Speaker 1: Did you see that? R Nick Sirianni and he show this.
- 1:43:11Speaker 1: Nick Sirianni's got me all here laying the points? Two guy, yeah,
- 1:43:15Speaker 1: the points, I'll tell you what I mean some Eagles, Freddy,
- 1:43:18Speaker 1: I'm going upset on this one. I just have so
- 1:43:20Speaker 1: much respect for Rabel and his ability to come a
- 1:43:24Speaker 1: pig in spots like this. Don't you do that to
- 1:43:25Speaker 1: my Sirian? Yeah, I think, um, this is gonna be interesting.
- 1:43:30Speaker 1: I'm gonna put it out there early. I'd be very
- 1:43:33Speaker 1: surprised if Jalen Hurts runs for one hundred and ten
- 1:43:35Speaker 1: yards like you know, like he has been against real
- 1:43:37Speaker 1: because I just don't think Rabel will allow I don't
- 1:43:39Speaker 1: think that. Just sorry, yeah, I don't think Jeffrey Simmons allow. Yeah,
- 1:43:43Speaker 1: figure out a way to you know, not just allow
- 1:43:45Speaker 1: him to run. You're saying Titans out right. Wow. Um,
- 1:43:50Speaker 1: I'm not gonna go quite there. But the Sharps, dude
- 1:43:52Speaker 1: know something, you know, because it's five and a hay,
- 1:43:56Speaker 1: which is two and a hay. So I think the
- 1:43:59Speaker 1: Eagles win, but the Titans cover. You see what you've done?
- 1:44:05Speaker 1: All right? Now? We moved to the later afternoon slate
- 1:44:08Speaker 1: four oh five. The six and five Seahawks are at
- 1:44:12Speaker 1: the three and eight Rams Seattle by five. I'm not
- 1:44:17Speaker 1: sure there's gonna be any Rams left to play. Five
- 1:44:19Speaker 1: I know is Yeah, this is the Fred and Paul
- 1:44:24Speaker 1: poster child for good team went south and they're all
- 1:44:29Speaker 1: bailing on all right, right the ship? Right? Yeah, Well,
- 1:44:33Speaker 1: I hope it was worth it getting that Super Bowl rams.
- 1:44:35Speaker 1: You go, you guy, good job. I was. I had
- 1:44:39Speaker 1: Fred Bingle for that one. But I'm gonna take Seattle
- 1:44:44Speaker 1: and I will lay the points. I'm gonna take Seattle
- 1:44:46Speaker 1: do the same exact thing. Aaron Donald high ankle, sprain.
- 1:44:49Speaker 1: I don't think he's gonna play in this game. He's
- 1:44:51Speaker 1: also flirting with retirements. To both of your points. The
- 1:44:54Speaker 1: season goes south, both McVeigh and Donald flirted with retire him,
- 1:45:00Speaker 1: and after winning the Super Bowl, you go three and
- 1:45:02Speaker 1: eight like moves back. I know Robinson, Yeah, he hit
- 1:45:07Speaker 1: his head. I think Seattle might be sort of hitting
- 1:45:11Speaker 1: the wall and going the other way. But I'm gonna
- 1:45:13Speaker 1: I'm gonna do what you guys did. I'm gonna take
- 1:45:15Speaker 1: Seattle and lay the points. I kind of like the
- 1:45:18Speaker 1: is it Bryce Perkins? I thought he showed a couple
- 1:45:21Speaker 1: of signs of ability. Yeah, the other day, I'll take
- 1:45:25Speaker 1: one drive anyway, I'll take Seattle and I'll take the points.
- 1:45:28Speaker 1: He didn't play it very well. Seattle and you'll take
- 1:45:31Speaker 1: the points, so you like the latter. I'll take the points.
- 1:45:34Speaker 1: Four h five, eight and three Dolphins against these seven
- 1:45:38Speaker 1: and four nine might be the game with the drink game,
- 1:45:42Speaker 1: great game. San Francisco by three and a half. Mike
- 1:45:45Speaker 1: McDaniel against his former mentor. Um, yeah, I think I
- 1:45:50Speaker 1: gotta go with Miami on this one. Um yeah, I
- 1:45:54Speaker 1: mean two of plane lights out like him a little
- 1:45:56Speaker 1: better than Jimmy Gum. I'm gonna take Miami and I
- 1:46:00Speaker 1: will take the points with me in the middle of
- 1:46:03Speaker 1: the night. In my dreams, it's Mike McDaniel against Nick Sirianni.
- 1:46:08Speaker 1: The Dolphins defense also has some times when they creep
- 1:46:12Speaker 1: into the dreams. You're naughty monkey, give me that Miami, Miami.
- 1:46:22Speaker 1: I just like the quarterback better right now. Um, that's fair.
- 1:46:26Speaker 1: I am going to take the defense. I'm gonna take
- 1:46:29Speaker 1: San Francisco, but I will take the Hey, I'll take
- 1:46:31Speaker 1: the hook and I'll take Miami. It's fun to see this. Yeah,
- 1:46:34Speaker 1: that's the big thing. What can the forty nineties defense
- 1:46:36Speaker 1: do against the Dolphins. Um, I'll do the same thing
- 1:46:41Speaker 1: as Paul. I'm gonna take the forty nineties but I'll
- 1:46:43Speaker 1: take those points. Four twenty five, nine and two Chiefs
- 1:46:47Speaker 1: are at these seven and four Bengals. Uh Kansas City
- 1:46:53Speaker 1: by two and a half. Big big game. Since then,
- 1:46:57Speaker 1: he's got a tough schedule. They do. They got a
- 1:46:59Speaker 1: really tough edum. But you know what, I still continue
- 1:47:03Speaker 1: to think Patrick Mahomes and Casey are the class of
- 1:47:06Speaker 1: the AFC. I'm going to take them on the road
- 1:47:08Speaker 1: and I will lay those points. Jamar Chase, I think
- 1:47:13Speaker 1: said that he was targeting this game to come back,
- 1:47:15Speaker 1: but I still think that's fifty fifty. I like the
- 1:47:18Speaker 1: Chiefs too. I'm gonna take Kansas City. That'd be a
- 1:47:21Speaker 1: big break for the Patriots. If if the Chiefs can
- 1:47:23Speaker 1: knock off the Bengals, yeah, get them to five losses.
- 1:47:26Speaker 1: So here's where I think fred this year may be
- 1:47:30Speaker 1: different than past years. It was like you could book
- 1:47:33Speaker 1: this one Kansas City would win because that's what the
- 1:47:35Speaker 1: Patriots would need. I don't think some of those things
- 1:47:38Speaker 1: are happening like they used to have. They didn't have
- 1:47:40Speaker 1: him last last week it was basically and even the
- 1:47:43Speaker 1: bye week there was one Gay I think the Chargers lost,
- 1:47:46Speaker 1: but all of the other games that the Patriots would
- 1:47:48Speaker 1: have quote unquote wanted didn't really happen. I'm gonna take Cincinnati.
- 1:47:52Speaker 1: I think they beat him last year at home, and
- 1:47:54Speaker 1: I think they do it again at home. Yeah, I'm
- 1:47:57Speaker 1: gonna go with Kansas City to win outright. This is
- 1:48:01Speaker 1: a kind of big game for them too, because you know,
- 1:48:03Speaker 1: the Dolphins are on their heels for the top seed
- 1:48:06Speaker 1: and the Bills and the Bills, so they've they've got
- 1:48:08Speaker 1: to keep pace here they correct. It's a big game
- 1:48:10Speaker 1: for bull teams. Absolutely, Yeah, So I'm gonna go with
- 1:48:13Speaker 1: the Chiefs four twenty five, six and five. Chargers are
- 1:48:17Speaker 1: at the four and seven. Raiders playing better lately. The
- 1:48:21Speaker 1: lack of bite two. That's another one, Patriots. You know,
- 1:48:24Speaker 1: the Chargers, the Dolphins, the Jets, and the Bengals. Those
- 1:48:27Speaker 1: are the four teams that you're kind of in competition
- 1:48:29Speaker 1: for the wildcard spot. I'm gonna I'm sorry, Josh, but
- 1:48:33Speaker 1: I'm gonna go with the Chargers on the road, and
- 1:48:35Speaker 1: I will lay the points. I think Josh does them
- 1:48:38Speaker 1: as solid in this game. Chargers run defenses putrid has
- 1:48:42Speaker 1: been for years. Then you've got to be careful who
- 1:48:44Speaker 1: you're rooting for. Josh Jacobs fran for what three hundred
- 1:48:47Speaker 1: last week or something like that against Seattle Scrimmage. And
- 1:48:51Speaker 1: I still feel like there's something wrong with Justin Herbert
- 1:48:55Speaker 1: that he just like can't I don't know, it's just
- 1:48:58Speaker 1: something missing, something there, but that I like the Raiders
- 1:49:01Speaker 1: at home. Yeah, I'm with Evan. I think the Raiders are,
- 1:49:05Speaker 1: you know, starting to make a little bit of a push,
- 1:49:07Speaker 1: and like if they win this game and they get
- 1:49:09Speaker 1: to five and seven and then you play them in
- 1:49:11Speaker 1: two weeks, you know, like assuming that they if the
- 1:49:13Speaker 1: Prios lose, it could be tied. Yeah. Yeah, I'll take
- 1:49:18Speaker 1: the Raiders. I think they're playing better than the Charges.
- 1:49:20Speaker 1: The Charges are a funny team. They have like games
- 1:49:22Speaker 1: within games, you know, like they're good and bad in
- 1:49:26Speaker 1: the same game. It's weird. I don't have a weird
- 1:49:29Speaker 1: decision asking too much out of like Josh Palmer. You
- 1:49:32Speaker 1: know that's an example, like, yeah, so I'm gonna go
- 1:49:35Speaker 1: with the Raiders to win this game, um, just because
- 1:49:39Speaker 1: it helps us alone. Probably. Now we moved to UH
- 1:49:43Speaker 1: eight twenty one, the four, seven and one Jeff Saturdays
- 1:49:49Speaker 1: are at the eight and three Cowboys. There's another big
- 1:49:53Speaker 1: that was the one result that went to Patriot's Way, Like, yeah,
- 1:49:55Speaker 1: you know five six and one, they're back end too.
- 1:49:58Speaker 1: You know that was a big loss for the col
- 1:50:00Speaker 1: Dallas by nine and a half. Yeah, I think, uh,
- 1:50:04Speaker 1: I think it's over with Jeff Saturday. I'm gonna take
- 1:50:06Speaker 1: Dallas to win, but I don't know. I'm just gonna
- 1:50:08Speaker 1: take the points for fun. And uh, I think it's
- 1:50:11Speaker 1: a close game. I would have taken Dallas if they
- 1:50:15Speaker 1: were plus twenty to win minus twenty to win this
- 1:50:17Speaker 1: game blowout City, no chance. I'm not as confident as seven,
- 1:50:21Speaker 1: but I'm taking Dallas. I'm gonna lay the points to Yeah,
- 1:50:24Speaker 1: I'm gonna go with Cowboys both ways. Um, just you know,
- 1:50:28Speaker 1: put a licking on the colts. Um eight fifteen, Monday Night,
- 1:50:33Speaker 1: the four and eight Saints are at the five and
- 1:50:36Speaker 1: six Buccaneers Bucks by four, books by four. Uh. Well
- 1:50:44Speaker 1: this is I mean putrid division, um and always a
- 1:50:47Speaker 1: tough game for the Bucks. Yeah, you can't play well
- 1:50:49Speaker 1: against the Saint. Yeah, but I think this year is different.
- 1:50:52Speaker 1: I'm gonna take I'm gonna take TB TB and I'll yeah,
- 1:50:56Speaker 1: you know what I'm gonna take. I'm gonna take the
- 1:50:57Speaker 1: points though. I think it's gonna be close. But what's
- 1:50:59Speaker 1: all this rumors, like like he's dating all these women? Now? Brady?
- 1:51:02Speaker 1: Good for him? Yeah, I mean, wouldn't you go for it?
- 1:51:05Speaker 1: I kind of give a little, you know, period where
- 1:51:08Speaker 1: I just kind of She's already out there with the
- 1:51:11Speaker 1: with the jiu jitsu trainer. I think she was with
- 1:51:15Speaker 1: him a want before Brady and Taylor Swift. Those rumors
- 1:51:19Speaker 1: are heavy. Taylor Swift's married. You know what the rooms are, man,
- 1:51:23Speaker 1: I don't make them. She's not his type. When has
- 1:51:29Speaker 1: he been with someone who's not that type? Ye? Like her?
- 1:51:35Speaker 1: She's famous actress, I know, but personality wise you know, yeah, Yeah,
- 1:51:41Speaker 1: I mean she's got I mean Taylor Swift, she seems
- 1:51:43Speaker 1: like she's got a lot going on. She does. It's
- 1:51:45Speaker 1: hard to hard to cross pass with Tom Brady. I
- 1:51:47Speaker 1: mean those two people, Joe Alwyn, whoever that is Taylor Swift, dude,
- 1:51:52Speaker 1: oh Joe Allen. Yeah. But then like husband, I believe
- 1:51:58Speaker 1: I didn't know that they are pretty. She still have
- 1:52:01Speaker 1: the place from the Yeah, I think she sold that
- 1:52:06Speaker 1: a little while ago. Okay, where's Alex when we need her? Yeah?
- 1:52:11Speaker 1: You got Vegas, Tom, Brady's gonna date Taylor Swift. Wow,
- 1:52:16Speaker 1: so that's what he's talking about, that maybe he'll come
- 1:52:18Speaker 1: back here and bring Taylor Swift with him. Started playing Gilette.
- 1:52:22Speaker 1: So there you go. It's convenient. I'm gonna take the
- 1:52:24Speaker 1: Bucks as well. But I think it's a it's a
- 1:52:26Speaker 1: field goal game, so me too. I'll take Tampa, but
- 1:52:30Speaker 1: I'll take the points. I'll take the Bucks out right.
- 1:52:33Speaker 1: I think Brady goes off, goes off. All right. Now
- 1:52:38Speaker 1: we move back to Thursday night, Tomorrow night. The trucks
- 1:52:42Speaker 1: are here right outside our door. Just so people know.
- 1:52:45Speaker 1: Our radio studio is what we call the TV Compound,
- 1:52:48Speaker 1: and the big Thursday Night football Amazon truck is here.
- 1:52:51Speaker 1: It's very exciting when you see the trucks roll in
- 1:52:54Speaker 1: and getting ready for the game. They have actually been
- 1:52:56Speaker 1: here since Monday. I think, yeah, but um too much
- 1:52:59Speaker 1: yeah time so um you know, um, Thursday night the
- 1:53:05Speaker 1: only team playing the country's watching. Yet those are the
- 1:53:09Speaker 1: internet Yeah we used to be now yeah yeah, people
- 1:53:13Speaker 1: like Paul Felt can't find it. I need my can't
- 1:53:17Speaker 1: spring it up. The Bills are eight and three, the
- 1:53:20Speaker 1: Patriots are six and five. UM Bills by five. Fife yeah,
- 1:53:26Speaker 1: I wish I could. Uh, I wish I could take it.
- 1:53:29Speaker 1: The Patriots I can't. Um, I feel like I couldn't,
- 1:53:33Speaker 1: but I willow. I feel like they're gonna They're gonna
- 1:53:35Speaker 1: put up a pretty good little fight though. I think, Um,
- 1:53:37Speaker 1: I just I think it's the end of the game
- 1:53:39Speaker 1: is going to be where Buffalo kind of makes the
- 1:53:41Speaker 1: plays and pulls away, and that's kind of a characteristic
- 1:53:43Speaker 1: of the Patriots. I know Buffalo has had some late
- 1:53:46Speaker 1: game collapses. I don't think it happens against New England.
- 1:53:50Speaker 1: I went a little bit higher on my score when
- 1:53:51Speaker 1: we meet our initial predictions there back on the TV show,
- 1:53:54Speaker 1: I'm gonna bring that a little bit down. Um, But
- 1:53:57Speaker 1: I still I still got the Bills thirty five twenty
- 1:54:01Speaker 1: so I think it's going to be closer than that.
- 1:54:04Speaker 1: I think that it's going to play out a lot
- 1:54:06Speaker 1: like the Vikings game did. I have the Bills thirty
- 1:54:08Speaker 1: to twenty seven. And again, I think that the Patriots
- 1:54:11Speaker 1: are just not going to be able to make the
- 1:54:13Speaker 1: plays in the fourth quarter in a close game. But
- 1:54:16Speaker 1: I think between the fact that they got ran off
- 1:54:18Speaker 1: the field in the playoff game and if you've dropped
- 1:54:21Speaker 1: to six and six your seasons probably is so I
- 1:54:25Speaker 1: think they're going to come out with a pretty good
- 1:54:27Speaker 1: fight in this game. But I think that Buffalo makes
- 1:54:30Speaker 1: the plays in the end. I do think that they
- 1:54:31Speaker 1: are highly motivated. I think that you guys, Mike. I
- 1:54:35Speaker 1: think you brought up that they've been hearing a lot
- 1:54:36Speaker 1: about the lack of punts, and I think that's a
- 1:54:39Speaker 1: huge source of motivation for the defense specifically. I just
- 1:54:43Speaker 1: don't think they're good enough on either side of the ball, really,
- 1:54:47Speaker 1: but I don't anticipate a blowout. I think at home,
- 1:54:50Speaker 1: it's like what Evans said. I think they'll make some
- 1:54:53Speaker 1: plays and have a chance, but the other team's just
- 1:54:55Speaker 1: a little bit better. I'll take Buffalo thirty one twenty three.
- 1:55:00Speaker 1: You know it comes a time, Yeah, listen, twelve and
- 1:55:03Speaker 1: five is still in the cards for the Patriots, correct,
- 1:55:06Speaker 1: and the run starts tomorrow night. An it's the first
- 1:55:08Speaker 1: time all week that you said that. Yeah, uh, listen.
- 1:55:12Speaker 1: I think the Bills of the should be the favorite team.
- 1:55:14Speaker 1: They are the favorite team. I think they have the
- 1:55:17Speaker 1: better talent, definitely on offense um, but things happen in
- 1:55:22Speaker 1: the NFL, and it's gonna happen tomorrow night, Patriots twenty seven,
- 1:55:26Speaker 1: twenty four. It's gonna be an instant classic. But the
- 1:55:31Speaker 1: Patriots come out and and they win this game. Uh,
- 1:55:34Speaker 1: they do it for the fans, you know in the
- 1:55:38Speaker 1: and red asses in full effect for this one. He's
- 1:55:41Speaker 1: running around the sideline. He's gonna be in full effect.
- 1:55:44Speaker 1: The red jersey gives the red ass. I would like
- 1:55:46Speaker 1: to have heard Bills Rara speech about the punting thing. Right,
- 1:55:53Speaker 1: you couldn't even force a punt. You gave up eighty
- 1:55:56Speaker 1: points in two games. I can't stand it. Yeah, that
- 1:55:59Speaker 1: that's sort of like I think that you're a defense.
- 1:56:01Speaker 1: You did make them line up and punt formation it
- 1:56:04Speaker 1: was in twenty twenty, but never happened. I mean in
- 1:56:07Speaker 1: you're a defense, Steve, if you did a good job,
- 1:56:09Speaker 1: it's a joke. It's a joke. What it's like. You
- 1:56:13Speaker 1: know when they had the parade route? Right, the who
- 1:56:15Speaker 1: was that the Eagles had the parade route? And he's
- 1:56:18Speaker 1: you know, he's brilliant at it. Um. You know. The
- 1:56:21Speaker 1: other thing I just to add on to that, which
- 1:56:23Speaker 1: since we have a couple of minutes here, you have
- 1:56:24Speaker 1: like ten, which is that you have four I think
- 1:56:26Speaker 1: there's I think as much as there's motive, as there's
- 1:56:29Speaker 1: motivation coming off the last year's gaming against Bill. I
- 1:56:31Speaker 1: think there's motivation coming off that Vikings game. I think
- 1:56:33Speaker 1: the miss referee calls. They feel like they got jobbed
- 1:56:36Speaker 1: a little bit in that game. And you know, I
- 1:56:38Speaker 1: think that feeds into it too. They've heard a lot
- 1:56:39Speaker 1: about the Hunter Henry touchdown and all that. I mean,
- 1:56:42Speaker 1: I think all of it. They feel agitated. It's a
- 1:56:44Speaker 1: I don't want to say must win kind of a
- 1:56:46Speaker 1: must win if you had to say, but it lines up,
- 1:56:48Speaker 1: they'll play. They'll play hard. If you oh, I think
- 1:56:50Speaker 1: they'll play hard. I think they always play hard. I
- 1:56:52Speaker 1: think they quit in the second half of the playoff game.
- 1:56:54Speaker 1: I think Evan alluded to that earlier. You know, it's
- 1:56:56Speaker 1: not even worth talking about, but I think for the
- 1:56:58Speaker 1: most I don't find a lot of example of the
- 1:57:00Speaker 1: team as a whole quitting. I think they'll play hard
- 1:57:03Speaker 1: Thursday night. If you had to say the Patriots win
- 1:57:08Speaker 1: this game, would you say after the game Patriots won
- 1:57:13Speaker 1: it or the Bills lost. Bills lost. Because it's gonna
- 1:57:16Speaker 1: it's gonna have to play into just some Josh Allen, Oh, yeah,
- 1:57:19Speaker 1: you go. Just because you can envision a scenario that
- 1:57:22Speaker 1: the Bills play reasonably well and lose, You're gonna need luck,
- 1:57:25Speaker 1: You're gonna need some bouncing the balls bouncing your way,
- 1:57:28Speaker 1: or you're gonna need to see a totally different Patriots
- 1:57:30Speaker 1: team than what we've been watching for the last four months.
- 1:57:32Speaker 1: Is that realistic? I mean, come on, I mean like
- 1:57:35Speaker 1: I want that to happen. And just so you know,
- 1:57:37Speaker 1: like if the Patriots came out and they like executed
- 1:57:39Speaker 1: really well offensively, I wouldn't say, well, the Bills played
- 1:57:42Speaker 1: bad on defense, Like I wouldn't say that that's why
- 1:57:44Speaker 1: you won because the Bills played bad on defense. I'm
- 1:57:47Speaker 1: talking about like you know the Bills you know did
- 1:57:51Speaker 1: with the Patriots at the other day. You know, third down,
- 1:57:54Speaker 1: they got to stop up face mask running to the kicker,
- 1:57:56Speaker 1: give them an extra possession, you know, three turnovers on
- 1:57:59Speaker 1: off fans. That's what I mean by pointy bad. All right,
- 1:58:02Speaker 1: that's gonna do it for the show. I see the callers,
- 1:58:05Speaker 1: stay tuned, callers, hang on for catch twenty two. We
- 1:58:08Speaker 1: got another two hours or is it an hour show?
- 1:58:11Speaker 1: You do just an hour an hour or so? Until
- 1:58:13Speaker 1: they feel it there they got open ended today. Yeah,
- 1:58:15Speaker 1: so we got another hour two of the best in
- 1:58:19Speaker 1: the business, Evan and Alex Barth, so stay tuned for that.
