Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: The following program is produced by the tech Talk Radio Network.
- 0:03Speaker 2: Hi, this is Christopher Walking and you're listening to tech
- 0:07Speaker 2: Talk Radio. I just think they talk kind of strange.
- 0:11Speaker 2: It's gonna be wild, not as crazy as this show.
- 0:14Speaker 1: Come on, Welcome to another episode of tech Talk Radio.
- 0:18Speaker 3: I'm Andy Taylor, I'm Seanda Weird, and I'm justin leme welcome. Boy.
- 0:22Speaker 3: That's been going on.
- 0:23Speaker 1: You've been out for a couple of weeks, justin because
- 0:26Speaker 1: DJing weddings and getting new products.
- 0:29Speaker 3: And tearying my calf muscle. Yeah, how'd you do that? Dude?
- 0:32Speaker 3: It was the most ridiculous. I was walking at water
- 0:36Speaker 3: World on the last day I went with my family.
- 0:39Speaker 3: We were just walking. I was walking through the park
- 0:41Speaker 3: and a kid like cutting in front of me and
- 0:42Speaker 3: I planted my foot wrong and I stopped immediately, and
- 0:45Speaker 3: I heard a pop in my calf, and I'm like, well,
- 0:48Speaker 3: there goes that calf. It hurt. I did have to
- 0:51Speaker 3: get carted out of there because I knew I wasn't
- 0:53Speaker 3: gonna be able to walk up the hill back up
- 0:55Speaker 3: to the car. So being that I'm an employee of
- 0:58Speaker 3: water World, I was like I went to one of
- 0:59Speaker 3: those super advisor is my k can you just get
- 1:01Speaker 3: one of the maintenance guys to get one of the
- 1:02Speaker 3: golf carts and just like make me out the back gate,
- 1:05Speaker 3: bring me up to my car and they're like, oh, yeah,
- 1:07Speaker 3: no problem. But yeah, I've been wanting to go hiking
- 1:11Speaker 3: with my family and the weekends I can't do that.
- 1:13Speaker 3: But it's getting better solely, So yeah, that was that
- 1:16Speaker 3: was one big thing. But yes, I did a DJ
- 1:18Speaker 3: wedding and stuff, so.
- 1:18Speaker 1: That's pretty cool. Well we'll get to that also, Sean.
- 1:21Speaker 1: While you were doing that, Sean had sent me a
- 1:24Speaker 1: picture last week of the control room. Now that's a
- 1:27Speaker 1: control room at Notre Dame.
- 1:29Speaker 4: Yeah. So Saturday we hosted our first home football game
- 1:32Speaker 4: of the season against Northern Illinois University, which we lost.
- 1:37Speaker 3: I can sense the pain in his voice, Yes I can.
- 1:39Speaker 4: For those of you who are listening who don't know,
- 1:41Speaker 4: I'm a broadcast engineer for the University of her name,
- 1:44Speaker 4: so I handle the majority of live events that come
- 1:47Speaker 4: out of the university. So note day football. If you're
- 1:49Speaker 4: a fan, I appreciate you. But we're staying right now, so.
- 1:54Speaker 3: I don't say that.
- 1:56Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, but I said, I said, Andy I snapped
- 2:00Speaker 4: a picture of control room, which I do typically in
- 2:03Speaker 4: all the whole games.
- 2:04Speaker 3: But what is that famous saying about football? It was
- 2:07Speaker 3: the name of a movie. To any given Sunday, on
- 2:09Speaker 3: any given Sunday, Yeah, any well, but for college it's
- 2:12Speaker 3: any even Saturday. But anyway, you get my point. Yeah,
- 2:15Speaker 3: you never know, you never know.
- 2:16Speaker 4: Yeah, no, it's it's been a while, you know. In
- 2:18Speaker 4: this this will be this is my seventh football season
- 2:21Speaker 4: and I'm in my sixth full year of working there.
- 2:24Speaker 4: Everybody seventh football season.
- 2:26Speaker 5: You know.
- 2:26Speaker 1: He sends me this picture of the control and I
- 2:28Speaker 1: was like, wow, I showed it to Gloriam, look at that.
- 2:30Speaker 1: But I was so excited to see all that equipment
- 2:32Speaker 1: and all those monitors, and I think that's so exciting, Sean,
- 2:35Speaker 1: I'd love to do that. And then he sends me
- 2:37Speaker 1: a picture of an empty stadium. Just it's just sadness.
- 2:40Speaker 1: It's just invoked the fielding of sadness. And what did
- 2:43Speaker 1: what did you say in It's something like it wasn't good.
- 2:46Speaker 4: It was a rough day. Yeah, so like you know,
- 2:50Speaker 4: after it's like after this, after the event is over
- 2:53Speaker 4: and everybody's gone, and you know, you can still see
- 2:56Speaker 4: some people out tailgating, like, we still have to strike
- 2:58Speaker 4: all of our gear and get ready for other events.
- 3:01Speaker 4: I had to go down to where the truck, the
- 3:02Speaker 4: NBC truck was and disconnect some gear and stuff. And
- 3:05Speaker 4: the fastest way to get there is to walk across
- 3:07Speaker 4: the field down to the other side of the building.
- 3:09Speaker 4: And it was just like whenever we lose at home,
- 3:11Speaker 4: it's deflating. It's just like there's a there's just a
- 3:13Speaker 4: weird energy in the whole building.
- 3:15Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 3:16Speaker 1: Well, plus this team, there was something going on with
- 3:18Speaker 1: this team too. It was like their first win over
- 3:21Speaker 1: a top twenty five Is that how it worked?
- 3:23Speaker 4: Oh yeah for the Huskies, you know. So for Northern
- 3:25Speaker 4: Illinois was their first ever program win against the top
- 3:28Speaker 4: twenty five ranked team.
- 3:29Speaker 3: Well can you do? Right?
- 3:30Speaker 1: I hope that it's better for Notre Dame and the
- 3:32Speaker 1: upcoming games.
- 3:34Speaker 3: I mean, hang in their champ.
- 3:39Speaker 1: You'll get it next time for the Gipper. Now you say, Rudy, oh, Rudy,
- 3:43Speaker 1: Oh boy, I saw that the other day.
- 3:45Speaker 3: I thought of you, all right.
- 3:46Speaker 1: So one of the things that I think is really
- 3:48Speaker 1: exciting is when we get to try new technology and
- 3:53Speaker 1: we know that Justin was pretty enamored with the Pixel
- 3:57Speaker 1: smartphone and the new Pixel nine fold, and we you
- 4:01Speaker 1: had said you had ordered it, but we didn't know
- 4:04Speaker 1: if you were going to get it in Today you
- 4:06Speaker 1: shared a photo on social media that blew me away.
- 4:11Speaker 1: I'm like, no, come on, you did not do that.
- 4:15Speaker 1: Is this something that comes with the Pixel.
- 4:17Speaker 3: Nine Yes, So I'll kind of showcase it here. So
- 4:21Speaker 3: this is the new Pixel ninefold and can open it up. Wow,
- 4:26Speaker 3: look at that, you know, so I really do. Is
- 4:29Speaker 3: there a crease that you see in the middle.
- 4:31Speaker 4: There is.
- 4:31Speaker 3: There is a little bit of a crease, and but
- 4:33Speaker 3: you kind of get used to you can kind of
- 4:35Speaker 3: see it right there in the middle a little bit
- 4:36Speaker 3: when I tilted, But it is actually when you're looking
- 4:39Speaker 3: at the screen dead on, you really don't notice the crease.
- 4:41Speaker 3: And that was one of my biggest concerns was figuring
- 4:44Speaker 3: out if the crease was going to be bothersome. It's
- 4:47Speaker 3: really not. I do love the wide screen on it.
- 4:52Speaker 3: I especially love it when i'm you know, reading the
- 4:54Speaker 3: latest news and stuff with the builton you know, Pixel
- 4:57Speaker 3: news app and everything. But going back to your question
- 5:02Speaker 3: about this photo, Yeah, so the Pixel nine series, the
- 5:06Speaker 3: Pixel nine the pixel nine XL. Again, they're all pros anyway,
- 5:09Speaker 3: Pixeline pro, pixel nine PROXL, pixel nine pro fold. They
- 5:15Speaker 3: leaned extremely heavily into AI, and so Gemini is Google's
- 5:21Speaker 3: AI platform, And with this particular line of phones, you
- 5:25Speaker 3: can usualize AI in so many different ways. And one
- 5:27Speaker 3: of those ways is if you take a picture, you
- 5:30Speaker 3: can just simply circle around your subject and then say
- 5:34Speaker 3: tell the AI reimagined this photo, and then it will
- 5:38Speaker 3: ask you what do you want it to be? And
- 5:39Speaker 3: I can say, you know, reimagine this photo sitting on
- 5:43Speaker 3: a beach, and it just it. It took about ten
- 5:46Speaker 3: seconds and it and it made that picture. Oh my god.
- 5:49Speaker 1: I thought maybe, like you took a picture, you had
- 5:51Speaker 1: to take out the background and then you just put
- 5:54Speaker 1: him in front of a you know, a beach scene,
- 5:57Speaker 1: him relaxing on a beach.
- 5:59Speaker 3: AI was able to do that for you. Yep, everything
- 6:02Speaker 3: about here. But it's my coworker, Anthony, and I just
- 6:04Speaker 3: took a picture of him sitting in his desk chair
- 6:07Speaker 3: with his feet up. It literally just it. It was awesome.
- 6:13Speaker 3: I mean, it took too amazing amazing. Yeah, and so
- 6:17Speaker 3: I'm really interested to see what else it could do.
- 6:18Speaker 3: But like another thing, another thing I can do is
- 6:21Speaker 3: like if you if you are looking up, like let's
- 6:23Speaker 3: say a set of restaurants or whatever, and you're looking
- 6:26Speaker 3: up and you have a search result of all these
- 6:28Speaker 3: different restaurants, you can just simply say tell the AI, hey,
- 6:32Speaker 3: put these on a map for me, and bam, It'll
- 6:34Speaker 3: just turn open the maps application and put all those
- 6:36Speaker 3: restaurants in that little whatever search list on a map
- 6:39Speaker 3: for you so you don't have to And then also
- 6:42Speaker 3: with the search feature. One cool thing about this is
- 6:45Speaker 3: let's say I'm if I'm looking at something on here
- 6:48Speaker 3: and I'm just like, you know what, I really want
- 6:49Speaker 3: to know more about this, but I don't want to
- 6:51Speaker 3: have to type it in. I can just simply raise
- 6:54Speaker 3: up from the bottom if I can do it. Actually,
- 6:56Speaker 3: it's sometimes I got to get the I gotta get
- 6:58Speaker 3: the motion down. I think it's you could circle it, right,
- 7:01Speaker 3: isn't that you circle it? You just circle what you're
- 7:04Speaker 3: looking at and they will then find it for you.
- 7:07Speaker 3: Oh my lord. Yeah, I got to figure out what
- 7:09Speaker 3: the gesture is. Is this going to be standard on all?
- 7:13Speaker 1: So, like if I didn't want to get the fold
- 7:16Speaker 1: or the flip, and I decided I want to get
- 7:18Speaker 1: just a standard you know, pixel nine pixel.
- 7:20Speaker 3: Yeah, it's all it's it's on all of them. That
- 7:23Speaker 3: that Gemini is that what's that's Gemini? Right? Gemini is
- 7:27Speaker 3: the AI for Google. Yes, and that's gonna be it.
- 7:29Speaker 3: Do you have to be a extra for that? No, No,
- 7:32Speaker 3: it comes with the phone, honestly, it comes with it. Yeah.
- 7:35Speaker 3: And being that I'm also a Google five subscriber, so
- 7:39Speaker 3: that's my cellular carrier, and I'm a Google one member,
- 7:42Speaker 3: I got so that the phone itself was I think
- 7:45Speaker 3: it was twenty two hundred dollars. Yes, that's it's it's
- 7:49Speaker 3: their flagship. But because i'm those five member and the
- 7:52Speaker 3: Google one member, I got eight hundred dollars back and
- 7:56Speaker 3: store credit just for buying the phone. Plus us I
- 8:00Speaker 3: got four hundred and seventy five dollars trade in value
- 8:03Speaker 3: for my old phone. So if you add that up,
- 8:07Speaker 3: the phone ended up only being around what, I don't
- 8:09Speaker 3: know THEO what's seven eight hundred dollars for the phone.
- 8:13Speaker 3: So what I did with that extra money that I
- 8:15Speaker 3: got in instant store credit is I also bought the
- 8:18Speaker 3: pixel Watch three oh, which and now the Pixel Watch
- 8:22Speaker 3: three is different because well it's the latest, it's got
- 8:24Speaker 3: the better processor in it, but it also is forty
- 8:27Speaker 3: five millimeters versus forty one millimeters of the last two models. Me,
- 8:32Speaker 3: I have trouble. I'm getting older. I can't really see
- 8:34Speaker 3: up close, so having the larger screen with a larger
- 8:38Speaker 3: font on the watch actually helps me a lot. And
- 8:41Speaker 3: I just got the watch in today, like literally just
- 8:43Speaker 3: a couple hours ago. I got the watch in, so
- 8:45Speaker 3: I'm kind of going through it, but I could already
- 8:47Speaker 3: notice that it is much snappier. It responds so much better.
- 8:52Speaker 3: They've redesigned the interface of it. I'm really liking it.
- 8:57Speaker 3: I really do like this thing. And I've heard a
- 8:59Speaker 3: lot of goods stuff about the Pixel nine series, and
- 9:04Speaker 3: then we just had the news what is it today
- 9:07Speaker 3: or yesterday that you know, Apple came out with their
- 9:09Speaker 3: new line of phone. So you know they time these
- 9:12Speaker 3: things to be in conjunction with each other. But I
- 9:16Speaker 3: really really like the Pixel nine series.
- 9:19Speaker 1: Well, the nine is shipping before the iPhone sixteen. I
- 9:21Speaker 1: mean it's yeah, I mean people already have it. Yeah,
- 9:24Speaker 1: you're not gonna be able to get the sixteen till
- 9:26Speaker 1: the twentieth I believe of this month. Pre Orders were
- 9:29Speaker 1: yesterday they started taking them. And you know a lot
- 9:32Speaker 1: of people that are in that that Apple world have
- 9:36Speaker 1: been saying, Okay, yeah, they're adding AI to it, similar
- 9:39Speaker 1: to what Google has done. But you know, it's I
- 9:42Speaker 1: was reading that they're very late to the game when
- 9:45Speaker 1: it comes to their addition of AI. They're the last
- 9:48Speaker 1: big manufacturer OEM to include AI and their device.
- 9:53Speaker 3: Yep. And I think, you know, man, I just I'm
- 9:57Speaker 3: saying what I've always said before. Apple They just they
- 10:00Speaker 3: take whatever is popular with other carriers and they just
- 10:02Speaker 3: copy it and then they release it as their own,
- 10:03Speaker 3: saying oh, we invented this. This is what they do
- 10:05Speaker 3: all the time. They steal from other manufacturers and they say, oh,
- 10:09Speaker 3: yeah we did this. But no, they're the last ones
- 10:11Speaker 3: to bring AI to phones.
- 10:12Speaker 1: Whose AI is going to be better? Everybody has their opinion. Yeah,
- 10:16Speaker 1: And we talked about this with Slick last week on Siri,
- 10:19Speaker 1: the Alexa, you know, the all the other you know,
- 10:22Speaker 1: different assistants that are out there, and the one that
- 10:27Speaker 1: let's meet out.
- 10:27Speaker 3: All the time has been in the past has been Siri.
- 10:30Speaker 1: I've been I've been really disappointed with the results like
- 10:34Speaker 1: that won't look up certain things or you know, it's
- 10:37Speaker 1: it's just kind of it's been it's been less than
- 10:41Speaker 1: I really wanted.
- 10:42Speaker 4: Well, you know they're saying they're saying that in what
- 10:44Speaker 4: I've read about the Apple AI stuff is that it's
- 10:47Speaker 4: very their tasks are very narrow, right, They're staying within
- 10:50Speaker 4: the Apple ecosystem, So like Siri, it's having Siri focus
- 10:53Speaker 4: on specific, more narrow tasks like reminders, questions, home devices,
- 10:58Speaker 4: that type of things like, instead of broadening out being
- 11:01Speaker 4: more broad where the other you're getting a lot less
- 11:04Speaker 4: functionality out of Apple Ai than you would with Gemini.
- 11:08Speaker 3: Or other chat gupte or Claude. Yeah. No, and Google
- 11:13Speaker 3: was that way. Google, not even just a year ago.
- 11:16Speaker 3: Google was that way where I would ask the assistant
- 11:19Speaker 3: a question and half of the time it would tell
- 11:23Speaker 3: me something like, well, I don't know, but I found
- 11:25Speaker 3: these results on the web, and it's like, no, I
- 11:27Speaker 3: don't want to see the web. I want you to
- 11:29Speaker 3: tell me my answer to my question. But now with
- 11:31Speaker 3: the release of Gemini and they really leaned into Gemini,
- 11:35Speaker 3: I'm noticing that I get more results of what I'm
- 11:39Speaker 3: truly asking versus it just telling me I don't know,
- 11:43Speaker 3: here's a web search right exactly, and that you know.
- 11:46Speaker 1: I'll just give you an example last week though, this
- 11:49Speaker 1: disappointed me about Google. You know, ways is owned by
- 11:52Speaker 1: Google from what I understand, right, And I was trying
- 11:57Speaker 1: to find an area out in the middle of nowhere,
- 12:00Speaker 1: out in uh Coolidge, Florence. I'm looking for a school
- 12:05Speaker 1: and I just followed the directions. It had me going
- 12:08Speaker 1: left and right. I took a dirt road. At some point,
- 12:10Speaker 1: I get up to a major crossroad and it tells
- 12:14Speaker 1: me to go left, and I go left and I
- 12:17Speaker 1: drive about maybe I want to say, a thousand feet,
- 12:20Speaker 1: and it says you've reached your destination.
- 12:23Speaker 3: And I'm looking around. There's nothing.
- 12:24Speaker 1: There was nothing like, no buildings, nothing and maybe houses
- 12:28Speaker 1: in the distance.
- 12:29Speaker 3: I'm like, what the heck? So I kept driving.
- 12:32Speaker 1: I saw a guy in a work truck and I
- 12:33Speaker 1: thought maybe I should pull over and ask him what
- 12:35Speaker 1: I'm you know, for what I'm looking for? And finally
- 12:38Speaker 1: I got to another highway, so I pulled up. I
- 12:40Speaker 1: went ahead and pulled up Apple Maps, and I said
- 12:44Speaker 1: what I was looking for, you know, And unfortunately it
- 12:48Speaker 1: took me five miles out of the area that I
- 12:52Speaker 1: was in, back to that road, back to the dirt road,
- 12:55Speaker 1: back to that crossroad. Except when I got to that crossroad,
- 12:58Speaker 1: it had me turn right and their fifty fifty seventy
- 13:02Speaker 1: five feet away.
- 13:03Speaker 3: Was the school I was looking for. That's interesting. I've
- 13:06Speaker 3: never had that problem. Now, were you using ways or
- 13:09Speaker 3: were you used Google Map? See Ways I've heard is
- 13:12Speaker 3: not as good now. Google does own ways, but they
- 13:15Speaker 3: basically own ways to get the traffic data from them,
- 13:18Speaker 3: because that's what they're known for, is getting that live
- 13:22Speaker 3: traffic data, whereas Google Maps is much better in terms
- 13:27Speaker 3: of navigation, and they just rely on the ways for
- 13:30Speaker 3: the traffic data. But why didn't it just.
- 13:32Speaker 1: Tell me turn around? It's what I'm looking for is
- 13:34Speaker 1: back there.
- 13:35Speaker 3: It is very interesting because I've i've I've heard so
- 13:38Speaker 3: much about the exact opposite where it's Siri or Apple
- 13:41Speaker 3: Maps that are on that that's the one that's taking
- 13:43Speaker 3: you off the edge of a cliff.
- 13:45Speaker 1: Well, it still took me five miles out of the
- 13:47Speaker 1: way because that was the fixup weird, you know, And
- 13:50Speaker 1: I asked that instead of Google because I thought, well Apples,
- 13:53Speaker 1: and it took me.
- 13:54Speaker 3: Like, way way out there, I was. I was so disappointed.
- 13:58Speaker 1: Luckily I did find it, and for the way home,
- 14:01Speaker 1: I went ahead and I went to Google Maps and
- 14:04Speaker 1: I used that to get home, because again I was
- 14:06Speaker 1: taking side roads in the whole bit.
- 14:07Speaker 4: Yeah, the majority of the time when I try or
- 14:09Speaker 4: travel right and call me old school, right, but I
- 14:13Speaker 4: like using Google Maps because it integrates really well with
- 14:16Speaker 4: my Apple Car Play. But I still plug in when
- 14:20Speaker 4: I travel, especially when we're camping and going to some
- 14:22Speaker 4: of these more remote places, I still plug in. I
- 14:25Speaker 4: have a garment movie.
- 14:26Speaker 3: Oh yeah, yeah, I remember those. Oh yeah yeah.
- 14:28Speaker 4: Because I paid for the perpetual license, I can get
- 14:34Speaker 4: updated maps for the lifetime of the device.
- 14:38Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 14:38Speaker 4: I upload the maps to the USPS and you know,
- 14:42Speaker 4: I just updated it a couple of weeks ago to
- 14:44Speaker 4: the newest version of maps and it works flawlessly. So
- 14:47Speaker 4: and there's if anybody has a garment neuvie device or
- 14:51Speaker 4: a garment you can actually get if you plug it
- 14:54Speaker 4: into your computer, you can get different sprites for your
- 14:57Speaker 4: your your instead of just the regular car. I can
- 15:00Speaker 4: out of the arrow. Yeah, mine's mine's an x wing.
- 15:02Speaker 3: Oh nice, Well they do that on uh yeah.
- 15:06Speaker 1: Yeah, they've done it with other voices too, Like we
- 15:09Speaker 1: had Samuel L. Jackson drive me around, which is that
- 15:13Speaker 1: was always fun, but he was always clean, so that
- 15:15Speaker 1: was good. But still I don't know, so you're happy
- 15:17Speaker 1: with that the Pixel nine, I will tell you justin
- 15:21Speaker 1: I took the picture today that you had taken, and
- 15:24Speaker 1: I said it to a friend who has been on
- 15:26Speaker 1: the fence about getting herself a new device, and I said,
- 15:30Speaker 1: look at the picture my friend just took with his
- 15:33Speaker 1: Pixel nine and was able to use the the AI
- 15:37Speaker 1: to recreate a different scenario.
- 15:40Speaker 3: Sean. I put those new links in the chat there
- 15:42Speaker 3: for you too, so you can see the picture now.
- 15:44Speaker 3: And what did she say. She went and ordered it.
- 15:48Speaker 1: She did based on that picture, based on the rumor
- 15:53Speaker 1: that has been really good about it.
- 15:54Speaker 3: Now we've talked about the fact that.
- 15:57Speaker 1: The Pixel has had one of the best camera syste
- 16:00Speaker 1: the new iPhone sixteen, which we will we'll get to
- 16:03Speaker 1: in a little bit, that's supposed to have a pretty
- 16:05Speaker 1: good camera ray. However, somebody i'd noticed, one of the
- 16:08Speaker 1: people that had got their hands on it to take
- 16:09Speaker 1: a look at, indicated that the camera system is a
- 16:12Speaker 1: lot like the fourteen a little different than the fifteen
- 16:16Speaker 1: but looked almost similar to the fourteen forty eight make
- 16:19Speaker 1: apixel you know, sensors the whole bit. So you know,
- 16:23Speaker 1: I don't know what Apple is doing in that.
- 16:25Speaker 3: Another really cool feature. And maybe you could also tell
- 16:27Speaker 3: your friend or just have her listen to this show
- 16:30Speaker 3: ordered it. Well, yeah, but the pixel nine has I
- 16:34Speaker 3: can remember what they call the feature. But let's say,
- 16:37Speaker 3: you know, let's say you've got a trio like a family.
- 16:39Speaker 3: Let's say me and Mesa and Eric, right, and I
- 16:42Speaker 3: want to take a family photo, but there's nobody else around.
- 16:44Speaker 3: What I do is I take a photo of Mesa
- 16:46Speaker 3: and Eric standing there. Then I give her the phone,
- 16:50Speaker 3: I walk into the frame and pretend to put my
- 16:52Speaker 3: arm around where they were standing, and then the camera
- 16:55Speaker 3: automatically stitches the photos together to make it look like
- 16:58Speaker 3: it was one photo. Are you kidding me? Really?
- 17:02Speaker 1: Do you remember when maybe you weren't there, when we
- 17:05Speaker 1: were at the old other radio station at Tucson, And
- 17:09Speaker 1: since I was there, you know, the guy who was
- 17:11Speaker 1: kind of working on the website and doing their their
- 17:14Speaker 1: social media at the time, I needed to take a
- 17:17Speaker 1: picture of the staff, and I have pictures of everybody,
- 17:22Speaker 1: But I had to catch the morning shows because you know,
- 17:25Speaker 1: they leave right away. I had to catch them at
- 17:27Speaker 1: different times and did the same thing with Stags members stags.
- 17:30Speaker 3: I put stags in there, and I brought.
- 17:32Speaker 1: In and I put myself as a little little photo
- 17:35Speaker 1: up in one of the windows. So but I had
- 17:38Speaker 1: to do that all all with photoshop, and it took seriously,
- 17:41Speaker 1: it took, you know, half an hour to an hour
- 17:43Speaker 1: to bring everybody in.
- 17:45Speaker 3: This does it for you? Automatically? Yeah? Automatically. Yeah. You
- 17:48Speaker 3: just have to be in the general area of where
- 17:50Speaker 3: you want it to be and then it will just
- 17:52Speaker 3: stitch the photos together and make it look like you
- 17:53Speaker 3: were there. That's pretty dark cool. You're selling me on
- 17:57Speaker 3: it right now. I mean, this is good. Try it
- 18:00Speaker 3: and I'll send you the photo sometime. But I'll have
- 18:02Speaker 3: to try it with with Eric or something and to
- 18:04Speaker 3: see what it would be like if I were to
- 18:06Speaker 3: take a picture with him and see. How about for
- 18:09Speaker 3: video mode. You know, I haven't really done a lot
- 18:12Speaker 3: with the video mode. I've done a couple of short
- 18:14Speaker 3: little videos here and there, but I do know that
- 18:17Speaker 3: they have a new night mode video mode, so it
- 18:21Speaker 3: will lower down the contrast, and it helps with low
- 18:24Speaker 3: light videos, which that was a problem in the past
- 18:28Speaker 3: with with the video mode. Is just a lot of
- 18:30Speaker 3: times it was just too darn dark. Now it'll it'll
- 18:33Speaker 3: take it more with it with a tone down so
- 18:35Speaker 3: you can actually see better.
- 18:37Speaker 1: Well, I will say the and the Samsung Galaxy smartphone
- 18:40Speaker 1: that I looked at, I took a picture in almost
- 18:43Speaker 1: zero lighting and it came out great.
- 18:46Speaker 3: So again, you know you Sun does a great phone too.
- 18:48Speaker 3: Both worlds all right.
- 18:49Speaker 1: So so justin say, now you were going from an
- 18:52Speaker 1: Android device to an Android device. If somebody is like
- 18:55Speaker 1: an iPhone and they're listening to this and they've had
- 18:57Speaker 1: an iPhone forever, or maybe they've got you know, uh
- 19:00Speaker 1: moto z or an old device that's an Android, how
- 19:04Speaker 1: easy easy to transfer the data? I know with Apple
- 19:07Speaker 1: it's super easy when you want to upgrade your phones
- 19:10Speaker 1: and whatnot, But how is it for the Android platform.
- 19:13Speaker 3: Well, going being that I went from a pixel to
- 19:15Speaker 3: a pixel, it is actually really simple. I literally just
- 19:19Speaker 3: had one pixel sitting next to the other pixel. They
- 19:22Speaker 3: connected to an ad hoc Wi Fi together and they
- 19:25Speaker 3: just started transferring all the data over and it was
- 19:27Speaker 3: able to transfer all the apps, all my chat history,
- 19:30Speaker 3: search history, basically just make an exact replica of my
- 19:33Speaker 3: old phone with in about twenty minutes.
- 19:36Speaker 1: Now, what about what about memory size as far as
- 19:39Speaker 1: because I know like for the new iPhone you go
- 19:42Speaker 1: one twenty eight, two fifty six, five twelve and one terabyte.
- 19:45Speaker 3: Yeah, I I did not go for the largest size.
- 19:48Speaker 3: It was just too darn expensive. But I think mine
- 19:52Speaker 3: is one hundred and twenty eight gig. And I honestly,
- 19:54Speaker 3: I really don't put a lot on there. I mean
- 19:56Speaker 3: I put a couple apps and then it's mostly just
- 19:59Speaker 3: photos and and web searches really, so I don't really
- 20:03Speaker 3: need all that extra space that they, you know, provide
- 20:06Speaker 3: with the five twelve or the one terabyte models. Wow, Sean,
- 20:10Speaker 3: what do you think?
- 20:11Speaker 4: I don't know. I just know that there's a lot
- 20:13Speaker 4: to upgrade coming up for phones. So here and justin
- 20:16Speaker 4: talk about the androids and stuff, right, it gets you thinking, Yeah,
- 20:21Speaker 4: you gotta remember how ingrained these devices are in your life. Right,
- 20:24Speaker 4: It's like how convenient is it for you?
- 20:27Speaker 3: Look at what Andy put you in your show notes.
- 20:29Speaker 3: There you put down that study that was done. Where
- 20:32Speaker 3: did it go? There? It said there was a study
- 20:35Speaker 3: about how much we spend on our on our phones.
- 20:38Speaker 4: Oh, you spend almost eleven thousand days staring at our
- 20:40Speaker 4: phones or computers.
- 20:41Speaker 3: That is that is ridiculous. Yeah, but I haven't seen
- 20:48Speaker 3: a lot of people say that they actually switched from
- 20:50Speaker 3: the iPhone to the Pixel nine and they said they'll
- 20:53Speaker 3: they'll never go back, like they said, it just it's
- 20:55Speaker 3: an amazing device.
- 20:56Speaker 1: And for those and this used to be an argument
- 20:59Speaker 1: justin and people have said that that when you have
- 21:03Speaker 1: a husband and wife or the kids, and you know,
- 21:05Speaker 1: the family, that when they send the message, the text message,
- 21:10Speaker 1: you could tell.
- 21:11Speaker 3: When they read it.
- 21:12Speaker 1: Oh, like with the Apple interface, you know, if everybody
- 21:14Speaker 1: has an Apple device, you could see, oh they read
- 21:17Speaker 1: my message right.
- 21:18Speaker 3: Well, you can do that with all androids too. But
- 21:20Speaker 3: now cross platform you cross platform or WhatsApp.
- 21:24Speaker 1: Some people have said let's use what's app as a
- 21:27Speaker 1: way to do that and you could still see. So
- 21:29Speaker 1: I mean, you don't have to stick with that that
- 21:31Speaker 1: that can't really be an argument anymore because technology has
- 21:34Speaker 1: opened up. I'm just I'm so amazed at the AI
- 21:37Speaker 1: features that are a part of the Pixel I want
- 21:40Speaker 1: to see, you know, did Apple do something really amazing
- 21:44Speaker 1: with their Apple Intelligence. You know, say never called it
- 21:47Speaker 1: artificial intelligence during the during their their big glow glow
- 21:52Speaker 1: time event.
- 21:53Speaker 3: Of course they didn't.
- 21:54Speaker 1: Yeah, it's Apple Intelligence AI.
- 21:57Speaker 3: That's what it means. Apple.
- 21:58Speaker 1: So I don't know, we'll have to see, you know,
- 22:00Speaker 1: it was funny I didn't.
- 22:00Speaker 4: They're the master, the masters of branding, right. They're they're
- 22:03Speaker 4: gonna just get people to think that when they say
- 22:05Speaker 4: I AI, they're they're pulling the cleanex of tissues, right,
- 22:09Speaker 4: They're trying to get people to think Apple AI or
- 22:12Speaker 4: Apple Intelligence that is AI, right, that they're they're trying
- 22:16Speaker 4: to become the household day for AI.
- 22:18Speaker 3: Yeah, of course, yeah, exactly. Now. I did see a
- 22:21Speaker 3: couple of you know, funny memes about you know, the
- 22:23Speaker 3: Apple event, and it was there was one guy that
- 22:26Speaker 3: was on X and he was he kept tweeting. He
- 22:28Speaker 3: was like the new Apple iPhone this, and then he
- 22:31Speaker 3: was like wait, next week was no, wait, hold on,
- 22:33Speaker 3: there's another one. Actually, hold on, wait no, wait no,
- 22:35Speaker 3: there's another one. Wait, hold on, there's another one. And
- 22:38Speaker 3: then the last one was like I think I was
- 22:39Speaker 3: talking about the Apple Watch and they're like it's the
- 22:41Speaker 3: thinnest Apple Watch ever. Yeah, and it was it was
- 22:44Speaker 3: a person with their glasses on, like looking like straining
- 22:47Speaker 3: to look, and the watch was like one not even
- 22:49Speaker 3: a millimeter thicker or thinner than the old one. And
- 22:52Speaker 3: it's like you're touting that it's the thinnest one ever
- 22:55Speaker 3: and it's not even a millimeter thinner than the last model.
- 22:57Speaker 3: Like that's not that's negligible. There's series there's series ten. Now.
- 23:02Speaker 1: One thing I will say they are promising with the sixteens,
- 23:06Speaker 1: better camera system, better battery life, which we hear, you know,
- 23:09Speaker 1: quite a bit, better ram that's to work the Apple intelligence.
- 23:13Speaker 1: So I'll have to see how that plays out, you know.
- 23:16Speaker 1: I mean, I've been an Apple guy for years. I
- 23:18Speaker 1: like Apple, I really do. But i mean, based on
- 23:20Speaker 1: what I've seen so far from Pixel I'm like, I
- 23:23Speaker 1: might want to give it a spin and and take
- 23:25Speaker 1: a look at it and try it out.
- 23:27Speaker 3: I don't think you would be disappointed. Honestly, it's an
- 23:30Speaker 3: amazing phone.
- 23:31Speaker 4: This is just very underwhelming from the Apple. Yeah, underwhelming, right,
- 23:36Speaker 4: And there are a dozen articles at least just saying well,
- 23:40Speaker 4: I think part of it too. There's there. It's like
- 23:43Speaker 4: a mid season refresh for a car, right.
- 23:45Speaker 3: It's like, I think that's the problem with Apple now.
- 23:48Speaker 3: They've gotten too comfortable with their status. They think it
- 23:51Speaker 3: doesn't matter what we do, people are gonna buy it.
- 23:53Speaker 3: So they can just walk out there and be like, Yep,
- 23:55Speaker 3: here's your new phone by mic Drop and people are
- 23:58Speaker 3: gonna buy it. That's basically what they did. They walked
- 24:00Speaker 3: out mic Drop. People are gonna bite anyway.
- 24:03Speaker 1: They did announce some new what they're called, and this
- 24:06Speaker 1: was confusing their airpod's Max. I don't know if you
- 24:10Speaker 1: saw this their headphones, but they're calling them air pods Max.
- 24:14Speaker 3: Yeah, but their headphones. What do you guys doing here?
- 24:18Speaker 3: Do you know what pod means? Yes?
- 24:20Speaker 4: But you can get them in new fancy colors like
- 24:24Speaker 4: mid bull orange and starlight.
- 24:28Speaker 1: Oh.
- 24:28Speaker 3: That that makes up for all the mislive.
- 24:31Speaker 4: USBC charging because the EU for suit.
- 24:33Speaker 3: But yes, YESBC on it.
- 24:35Speaker 4: Yep.
- 24:35Speaker 3: They fought that for so long and they finally lost
- 24:38Speaker 3: that one. Yeah.
- 24:39Speaker 1: Now, one other thing that though, I do like this,
- 24:42Speaker 1: and I like the health features of the Apple Watch,
- 24:44Speaker 1: and I'm wondering your pixel Watch justin do you have
- 24:47Speaker 1: health features like you could check your heartbeat.
- 24:50Speaker 3: You could check blood oxygen all that stuff. So, I mean,
- 24:53Speaker 3: obviously Google did buy Fitbit multitude of years ago.
- 24:57Speaker 1: They're not making fit bit anymore. They said that they're
- 24:59Speaker 1: done with yep.
- 25:00Speaker 3: They they they have fully ingrained Fitbit into the pixel
- 25:03Speaker 3: community now, so it's gonna be the Pixel watches no
- 25:06Speaker 3: longer Fitbit anything. I know my pixel Watch one didn't
- 25:12Speaker 3: have the oxygen sensor, but again, I just got this
- 25:16Speaker 3: watch today, so I don't know if it has the
- 25:18Speaker 3: oxygen sensor on this one. I know it does have
- 25:20Speaker 3: heart rate, it does have step count, it does have
- 25:23Speaker 3: sleep tracking, which you know, all those were part of
- 25:26Speaker 3: the pixel Watch one, but I don't know at this moment.
- 25:30Speaker 3: I haven't seen anything about two sensor yet. So and
- 25:33Speaker 3: that if I find that out, I'll let you know.
- 25:35Speaker 1: That's my other downside that I've ingrained in the Apple interface.
- 25:39Speaker 1: I've got the Series nine Apple Watch, So if I
- 25:43Speaker 1: go pixel, what do I do with that? No, because
- 25:46Speaker 1: use it as a watch, right'. I don't know if
- 25:48Speaker 1: it's gonna is it going to communicate?
- 25:51Speaker 4: I don't know. I don't.
- 25:52Speaker 3: I don't think it will because Fitbit and Apple, I don't.
- 25:55Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 25:56Speaker 3: That's a good question.
- 25:57Speaker 1: One of the other health features that he did like
- 25:59Speaker 1: is the AirPods Pro two. These are they're actually not
- 26:04Speaker 1: only as listening devices for music or podcasts like this
- 26:08Speaker 1: show or radio show streaming, they're also a hearing aid.
- 26:12Speaker 1: And I thought that was a pretty good idea for
- 26:14Speaker 1: Apple to do. They keep, you know, working towards the
- 26:16Speaker 1: health features, So that is something I thought was kind
- 26:18Speaker 1: of neat. We'll have to see, you know, will people
- 26:21Speaker 1: jump onto those. But here's a big question, and Sean,
- 26:23Speaker 1: this is a good one for you talking about how
- 26:25Speaker 1: people have said that they're just not really enthralled by
- 26:29Speaker 1: the Apple Intelligence. Do you think it's like them throwing
- 26:33Speaker 1: the Apple Intelligence onto the device and telling people here,
- 26:37Speaker 1: you know, it's part of your device.
- 26:39Speaker 3: Now, do people really want that?
- 26:41Speaker 4: I think they have to to stay competitives, right. I
- 26:45Speaker 4: think they have to and they're not going to adopt
- 26:50Speaker 4: a third party AI. They just won't. They have to
- 26:53Speaker 4: come up with their own. And I think the AI
- 26:56Speaker 4: race forced their hand, and I think they had to
- 26:59Speaker 4: put out AI on the iPhone sixteen. They have waited
- 27:03Speaker 4: absolutely well, didn't they had They had to? Did they
- 27:07Speaker 4: announced Apple AI when they announced the iPhone fifteen they said, hey,
- 27:10Speaker 4: it's coming, right, but at that point it was in
- 27:13Speaker 4: such an infant stage that nobody knew what it was.
- 27:17Speaker 4: And with their like, they're so privacy focused, right, they
- 27:24Speaker 4: they're lacking in the third party integration. They're don't not
- 27:27Speaker 4: letting other third parties access the information that you're generating
- 27:31Speaker 4: with the AI, and all of their processing is done
- 27:34Speaker 4: on device, right, where other manufacturers allow this processing to
- 27:38Speaker 4: happen in the cloud in other places, right. But Apple
- 27:41Speaker 4: is primarily focused on privacy. So you're going to see
- 27:45Speaker 4: some significant quality decreases because of the processing that's required
- 27:49Speaker 4: on the device versus in the cloud, speed, performance, accessibility
- 27:55Speaker 4: to data.
- 27:56Speaker 3: Right.
- 27:56Speaker 4: So you're going to get a better user experience from
- 28:01Speaker 4: Gemini and other AI models, but at the sake of
- 28:07Speaker 4: your privacy.
- 28:07Speaker 5: Right.
- 28:08Speaker 4: Those models are trained by what you feed them, whereas
- 28:12Speaker 4: Apples won't be. So it's Apples that's kind of been
- 28:17Speaker 4: their stick over the last six or seven iPhones has
- 28:21Speaker 4: been privacy, privacy, privacy, right. Yeah, so we'll see I
- 28:26Speaker 4: just they're they're behind, I think, but they're trying to
- 28:31Speaker 4: rein in the mainstream feel of AI by branding it
- 28:35Speaker 4: Apple Intelligence. So you call it AI. So when somebody
- 28:38Speaker 4: says AI, they're gonna like, oh, you usually gamble intelligence.
- 28:41Speaker 3: But that's that's not true. Yeah, like you said, the
- 28:44Speaker 3: KLEENICX of tissues. Maybe that's what we'll name the show
- 28:47Speaker 3: this week. We've got to take a break. We come back.
- 28:50Speaker 3: We've got more.
- 28:50Speaker 1: We will find out about your djaying experience, and we
- 28:54Speaker 1: got some more news for you if you've been thinking
- 28:55Speaker 1: about upgrading to Windows eleven keep running into the roadblocks.
- 28:59Speaker 1: There's been a great article put up by a guy
- 29:00Speaker 1: who's been on the show before that we'll tell you about,
- 29:03Speaker 1: as well as a couple of listener questions as well.
- 29:06Speaker 3: I'm a Detaylor, I'm Sean de Weird, and I'm justin.
- 29:09Speaker 3: Let me find us on the web at tech talk
- 29:10Speaker 3: radio dot com.
- 29:11Speaker 5: We'll be right back and now fact to tech talk Radio.
- 29:16Speaker 3: So to answer the question that was posed during the
- 29:18Speaker 3: last segment, there the sensors that are currently on not currently,
- 29:22Speaker 3: but on the pixel Watch three. You have an accelerometer,
- 29:25Speaker 3: of course, you've got the function based sensors like the compass,
- 29:28Speaker 3: the altimeter, the gyroscope, the ambient light sensor, and finally
- 29:34Speaker 3: they do have the blood oxygen sensor. Oh, good, but right,
- 29:39Speaker 3: But the blood oxygen sensor in the pixel Watch three
- 29:42Speaker 3: is inactive at this time. While the sensor has a
- 29:45Speaker 3: place on the watch, Google has not made any statements
- 29:47Speaker 3: as to when and where this feature would be unlocked
- 29:50Speaker 3: for use. That actually is a big thing for me
- 29:53Speaker 3: because I do know that the Apple Watch does feature
- 29:55Speaker 3: the O two yeah, and I would love to have
- 29:57Speaker 3: that O two sensor, So I'm hoping that they do
- 30:00Speaker 3: figure this out and unlock that feature soon. How about
- 30:03Speaker 3: EKG or EKG, Yes, you can do that EKG yep, yep, yeah,
- 30:08Speaker 3: that's really cool. Electrical sensor. It also has the optical
- 30:12Speaker 3: heart rate sensor, so you can get your heart beat
- 30:15Speaker 3: and everything, and then again the sleep sensor. How much
- 30:17Speaker 3: is the pixel Watch? Generally go for pixel Watch with
- 30:21Speaker 3: the Wi Fi model I think is three ninety nine,
- 30:23Speaker 3: and then for I think it was four to seventy nine.
- 30:26Speaker 3: Is for the LTE model if you want, did you
- 30:28Speaker 3: do that last? My last watch, my pixel Watch one,
- 30:31Speaker 3: was the LTE model, But honestly, I found that I
- 30:34Speaker 3: really never went anywhere outside having my phone, so having
- 30:38Speaker 3: the LTE model on the watch didn't really make sense
- 30:41Speaker 3: to me. So for this one. I just went with
- 30:42Speaker 3: the Wi Fi.
- 30:43Speaker 1: That makes sense there, all right, you DJ'ed, which I
- 30:47Speaker 1: thought was kind of cool. We've been hearing the kind
- 30:49Speaker 1: of ramp up to that over the last month.
- 30:51Speaker 3: Yeah, how did the event go? It went great. Yeah,
- 30:55Speaker 3: if you missed the last couple of shows or whatever
- 30:56Speaker 3: we talked about. When I did, I did get back
- 30:58Speaker 3: into DJ and add some friends that were like, you know,
- 31:00Speaker 3: we want you to DJ our wedding and I was like, look, guys,
- 31:02Speaker 3: I haven't done this in like fifteen years. And then
- 31:06Speaker 3: I realized how much money I could make, and I
- 31:08Speaker 3: was like, okay, I could make this work, right, And
- 31:10Speaker 3: so yeah, I went out. I bought the you know,
- 31:12Speaker 3: a Hercules DJ turntable set, a digital turntable set, and
- 31:17Speaker 3: I bought the virtual DJ license. I got a bunch
- 31:20Speaker 3: of music from Title and from Idjpool and yeah, I
- 31:25Speaker 3: went to the event. It was on Sunday, this last Sunday,
- 31:28Speaker 3: and I set up and everything went great. I mean, honestly,
- 31:31Speaker 3: it was so funny because the venue manager, the venue
- 31:34Speaker 3: owner excuse me, was actually there and he came up
- 31:37Speaker 3: to me about halfway through the event and he was like,
- 31:39Speaker 3: you're really good at this like you're keeping everybody on track.
- 31:43Speaker 3: You know, you're doing things really well. You do this professionally,
- 31:46Speaker 3: Like is this your full time gig? And I'm like, no, actually,
- 31:49Speaker 3: I haven't done this in like fifteen years. And he's
- 31:50Speaker 3: just like, wow, you're really good at this. So that
- 31:53Speaker 3: made me feel good. And then we got to party
- 31:55Speaker 3: mode and I started rocking it with the songs and
- 31:57Speaker 3: the remixes, and people just absolutely loved it and I
- 32:01Speaker 3: had a blast. It was a great time. And as
- 32:03Speaker 3: a matter of fact, like I said, the owner was there.
- 32:06Speaker 3: He was like, hey, do you have a card? I
- 32:07Speaker 3: want to I want to maybe reference you for some
- 32:09Speaker 3: upcoming projects. And I was like, yeah, I mean, I'll
- 32:12Speaker 3: pick up a gig from here and there. I mean,
- 32:13Speaker 3: I'm you know again, I'm not I got a full
- 32:15Speaker 3: time job. I'm not going to quit that to do this.
- 32:17Speaker 3: But I picked up that gig and coming up this Friday,
- 32:21Speaker 3: I'm actually going to be djane Highland Hills, that's the
- 32:24Speaker 3: company I work for. I'm going to be djying the
- 32:26Speaker 3: park Fest, which is a major concert series that we
- 32:29Speaker 3: do at the end of each year. We have a
- 32:31Speaker 3: bunch of food trucks, we have a live band. So
- 32:33Speaker 3: I'll be Djane the first hour of that event and
- 32:36Speaker 3: then introducing the live band. And so that's gonna be
- 32:39Speaker 3: a great time. So I'm gonna I'm inviting those same
- 32:41Speaker 3: friends out that we're at the wedding. I'm inviting my family,
- 32:44Speaker 3: my neighbors are coming out. So it's gonna be a
- 32:47Speaker 3: good time. So I'll be up on stage. DJ in
- 32:49Speaker 3: that first hour is making.
- 32:50Speaker 4: You what's your DJ what's your DJ name? You need
- 32:53Speaker 4: to come up with an epic DJ name.
- 32:55Speaker 3: Yeah, I went back and forth. Well, back when I
- 32:59Speaker 3: was in the Navy, I was DJ Spider, but now
- 33:01Speaker 3: there's an actual famous guy that was DJ Spiders. I
- 33:04Speaker 3: was like, well, I can't do that one. So I
- 33:06Speaker 3: went with you know, my nickname on the Gamer you
- 33:08Speaker 3: Know world is Donnie Narco. So I went with DJ
- 33:11Speaker 3: d N. I like it. It's not bad. It's simple, simple,
- 33:15Speaker 3: mysterious d j d N. All right, Well, they almost
- 33:18Speaker 3: went I almost went with DJ j D because my
- 33:20Speaker 3: name is Justin David, Right, that would be kind of
- 33:22Speaker 3: a play like DJ j D. Like, not that DJ Justin.
- 33:28Speaker 3: That's too basic. It's too basic.
- 33:32Speaker 1: If you did a DJ name, what would you be
- 33:34Speaker 1: there Sean, I.
- 33:37Speaker 4: Have no I literally have no idea.
- 33:39Speaker 3: Yea DJ Horde, DJ DJ Alliance.
- 33:45Speaker 4: Probably just de weardy, which is my.
- 33:48Speaker 3: So weirdy. I like it. So it was a lot
- 33:51Speaker 3: of fun.
- 33:51Speaker 1: This is making you think, now you may want to
- 33:53Speaker 1: just keep pursuing this because you know it's.
- 33:55Speaker 3: Pretty good business. Yeah, it is. It's a great business.
- 33:58Speaker 3: I mean, gosh, weddings and and proms and birthdays. I
- 34:01Speaker 3: mean maybe not so much birthdays, but like, yeah, those
- 34:03Speaker 3: are events. Dude, DJs can make some serious cash. And
- 34:06Speaker 3: knowing that, I don't look, I'm literally not trying to
- 34:11Speaker 3: brag here, but this this stuff comes naturally to me,
- 34:14Speaker 3: Like being able to just manage a show and manage
- 34:16Speaker 3: people and be like, Okay, we need to get this
- 34:18Speaker 3: done at this time, and I'm supposed to do this
- 34:20Speaker 3: at this time. It literally just came natural to me.
- 34:22Speaker 3: I was so nervous before the event, but once the
- 34:24Speaker 3: event started, I just went on autopilot and everything came naturally.
- 34:28Speaker 3: And the guy was like, like I said, He's like,
- 34:30Speaker 3: do you do this professionally?
- 34:31Speaker 1: You're really good at this, so well, plus it doesn't
- 34:35Speaker 1: hurt that you've been doing bruise trivia nights. So you're
- 34:38Speaker 1: used to being on the microphone in front of a
- 34:39Speaker 1: group of people, so.
- 34:40Speaker 3: Sure, And and the history of radio DJ and stuff
- 34:43Speaker 3: like that. It helps me talk in front of a
- 34:44Speaker 3: crowd and stuff. Yeah, so I've got all the pieces
- 34:47Speaker 3: put together to make it successful. And knowing that I
- 34:49Speaker 3: can do it, yeah, I think I will pursue it.
- 34:52Speaker 3: Not fully obviously, but from time to time I'll pick
- 34:55Speaker 3: up a gig here and there.
- 34:56Speaker 1: We know, Jonas has been doing a lot of things
- 34:59Speaker 1: now because the inflatable screens have been you know, you
- 35:04Speaker 1: remember you wanted to buy an inflatable screen.
- 35:06Speaker 3: It was really expensive.
- 35:08Speaker 1: The prices have come down a lot on those projection systems,
- 35:11Speaker 1: they've come down quite a bit. So now he's doing
- 35:13Speaker 1: backyard parties. So if you want to have a backyard
- 35:17Speaker 1: nighttime party, he brings the sound, he brings the streaming device,
- 35:21Speaker 1: he brings the you know, the projector brings the inflatable
- 35:26Speaker 1: and apparently there's good money in that as well. So
- 35:28Speaker 1: I mean that's that you might have a whole new career.
- 35:31Speaker 1: At least, you know, get the kid a little older
- 35:34Speaker 1: and he could do it.
- 35:35Speaker 3: Well, you know, he was already Eric was already interested in.
- 35:37Speaker 3: He keeps bothering me. He's like, Dad, can I go
- 35:39Speaker 3: practice DJing? And I'm like, yeah, you can. So I
- 35:41Speaker 3: can bring him down and I set the computer and
- 35:43Speaker 3: I just go and he'll scratch around a little bit.
- 35:47Speaker 3: But hey, you know what, more power to him. If
- 35:49Speaker 3: that kid can get to like ten or twelve years
- 35:52Speaker 3: old and he can actually DJ, he's gonna be like
- 35:54Speaker 3: the most popular kid in school. Yeah.
- 35:56Speaker 1: If they still have DJs, AI would be doing all
- 35:59Speaker 1: of it for you. You'd be able to tell Ai
- 36:03Speaker 1: please mix Led Zeppelin into Barber Streisen. Oh my, oh dude,
- 36:07Speaker 1: I actually I actually heard that on the radio. It
- 36:10Speaker 1: was mortifying. Yeah, all right, I got.
- 36:13Speaker 4: A lighter on a lighter note. Just you guys talked
- 36:15Speaker 4: about DJing. Right, So here's my dj I news.
- 36:19Speaker 1: I'll look at that second perfect dji dj I announced.
- 36:26Speaker 4: I mean, I feel like, just two weeks ago, I
- 36:28Speaker 4: told you about the dj I four K, which was
- 36:30Speaker 4: their their four hundred dollar drone. Well, they set the
- 36:34Speaker 4: bar even lower for price. So they announced that dj
- 36:38Speaker 4: I Neo, which is a lightweight drone design. This is
- 36:42Speaker 4: ready just the script off their website. The lightweight drone
- 36:45Speaker 4: design for beginner's loggers and casual users. Priced at one
- 36:50Speaker 4: ninety nine dollars, the Neo packed several pressive features for
- 36:53Speaker 4: its size. Here's some of the key features. Right, it's
- 36:57Speaker 4: one hundred and thirty five grams, so less than a
- 36:59Speaker 4: half a pound, which puts it under if a way
- 37:02Speaker 4: limit for registration. Wow, it's got a twelve megapixel half
- 37:06Speaker 4: inch censor. Uh, it's can fly up to eighteen minutes
- 37:10Speaker 4: on a single charge. It comes without a controller, so
- 37:14Speaker 4: you just use your phone to control it if you want,
- 37:17Speaker 4: or you can pay a little bit more money and
- 37:18Speaker 4: get the RC plan which gives you a controller in
- 37:20Speaker 4: the suffances. But uh, it's tiny, it's it's only you know,
- 37:24Speaker 4: it's let me ask you.
- 37:25Speaker 3: About let me ask you about the phone controller, right,
- 37:27Speaker 3: because now you're talking phone controller, which means it's gonna
- 37:30Speaker 3: have to communicate one of two ways. It's gonna have
- 37:32Speaker 3: to communicate via Wi Fi or it's gonna have to
- 37:34Speaker 3: communicate blue tooth right. Right, You're not gonna be able
- 37:37Speaker 3: to take this thing very far with that now, and
- 37:39Speaker 3: you go to the radio route, right, you're gonna have
- 37:42Speaker 3: much more distance that you can take this thing because
- 37:45Speaker 3: it uses radio frequency. So what is the distance limits
- 37:48Speaker 3: on this? Yeah, this emssion, it is gonna have to
- 37:50Speaker 3: be Why because I mean you're thinking Wi Fi, you're
- 37:52Speaker 3: thinking maybe what one hundred feet?
- 37:55Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't know. I would have to look at
- 37:57Speaker 4: what it says. But yeah, you're not wrong, right, it's
- 37:59Speaker 4: does that. This one. It's definitely not designed to.
- 38:01Speaker 3: Be set by altitude whatever set.
- 38:04Speaker 4: Thousands feet away from you or whatever. Right, you're not
- 38:07Speaker 4: going up eight hundred feet right, Yeah, this one is
- 38:09Speaker 4: from what the marketing shows, is designed to be like
- 38:12Speaker 4: a selfie kid's gonna fly around you. It's gonna stay
- 38:16Speaker 4: near you. You're great, that's what you're gonna be able
- 38:18Speaker 4: to fly indoors, right, because it's got the prop cards
- 38:21Speaker 4: and stuff.
- 38:21Speaker 3: Oh it is.
- 38:24Speaker 4: It is Wi Fi connectivity with a control range of
- 38:28Speaker 4: fifty meters right, Okay, okay, so that's in perfect conditions.
- 38:32Speaker 3: I was in Costco fifty ft.
- 38:33Speaker 1: I was in Costco the other day and they had
- 38:36Speaker 1: the Dji Many four and I was like, that's what
- 38:39Speaker 1: I have. I was like, whoa, because I have the
- 38:41Speaker 1: three and I thought that they were going to be
- 38:44Speaker 1: priced reasonably. No, it was still seven hundred and ninety
- 38:47Speaker 1: nine bucks, and I thought.
- 38:48Speaker 3: Wait, maybe I have the three because mine was three
- 38:50Speaker 3: ninety nine.
- 38:51Speaker 1: Yeah, well mine was a thousand. The one that I got,
- 38:54Speaker 1: it got the three pro.
- 38:55Speaker 3: Yeah, remember what I had that Phantom for the original
- 38:57Speaker 3: Phantom for my very first drone that I was so
- 39:00Speaker 3: nervous about getting. And Sean was like, dude, it flies itself,
- 39:03Speaker 3: trust me, you'll be great. That thing was massive and
- 39:06Speaker 3: that was what fourteen dollars for that thing.
- 39:08Speaker 1: That's when they first they were first grabbing the attention.
- 39:11Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 39:11Speaker 1: So the which one, Sean, is that the four Is
- 39:14Speaker 1: it the four K that is priced a little lower
- 39:19Speaker 1: than that seven hundred and ninety nine.
- 39:21Speaker 4: Right, So right, so they kind of got you with
- 39:24Speaker 4: the marketing.
- 39:24Speaker 3: Right.
- 39:24Speaker 4: So you have the the the Mavick Pro four and
- 39:28Speaker 4: then you have the you have the Dji Pro four K.
- 39:32Speaker 3: Right, Okay, so there's.
- 39:33Speaker 4: Different This is not a Mavick, it's just the Dji
- 39:36Speaker 4: four K.
- 39:37Speaker 3: That's it.
- 39:37Speaker 4: Exactly different design, it's a different style.
- 39:39Speaker 3: Right.
- 39:40Speaker 4: So they got down there, but real quick before we
- 39:43Speaker 4: have to take a break talking about Dji. So September ninth,
- 39:47Speaker 4: the day we recorded the show, the house did pass
- 39:52Speaker 4: the Hr. Two eight six four, which is the Countering
- 39:55Speaker 4: CCP Drones Act. Oh wow, so that did pass the House.
- 40:00Speaker 4: So a little bit about that bill real quick, is
- 40:02Speaker 4: that this bill is set to safeguard US security by
- 40:06Speaker 4: restricting the use of drones from foreign foreign countries, basically China.
- 40:09Speaker 4: So that would impact DJI and several other large drone
- 40:13Speaker 4: manufacturers for sale and access to the US.
- 40:17Speaker 3: So we gonna be able to fly our drones anymore.
- 40:20Speaker 4: It's only for what I'm reading, it's only for new
- 40:25Speaker 4: the imports of new products from DJ like. It's not
- 40:29Speaker 4: gonna retroactively take away your old drones and stuff like that.
- 40:31Speaker 1: So although if you know the government wants to buy mine,
- 40:34Speaker 1: I'll sell it, yeah, right, three or four times, so
- 40:38Speaker 1: i'd be happy I barely use it.
- 40:39Speaker 4: Yeah, So that that bill has to go through the
- 40:41Speaker 4: Senate and get passed by the Senate.
- 40:43Speaker 3: All right, so we'll see.
- 40:45Speaker 1: All right, we're gona take another quick break. We come
- 40:46Speaker 1: back more of tech Talk Radio. I'm Andy Taylor, I'm
- 40:49Speaker 1: Sean de Weird, and I'm justin.
- 40:51Speaker 3: Let me send us an X at tech talk Radio.
- 40:54Speaker 5: We'll be right back and now back to tech Talk Radio.
- 40:57Speaker 4: Would like to take in listener questions. Uh, on the web,
- 41:00Speaker 4: you can call us, textus, email US, Facebook US, tweet
- 41:03Speaker 4: at us, whatever. But Gary from Tucson has a question
- 41:06Speaker 4: for us. All right, He says, Hey, guys, I listen
- 41:10Speaker 4: to the show whenever I can and love the advice.
- 41:11Speaker 4: Now I have a question. I'm on a fixed income
- 41:13Speaker 4: and spending money is something I'm very careful with. I
- 41:16Speaker 4: have a PC, but don't have antivirus other than Windows Defender.
- 41:20Speaker 4: Is there a good antivirus that can keep me safe
- 41:23Speaker 4: or one that's free? Or am I safe with just
- 41:26Speaker 4: Windows Defender?
- 41:28Speaker 3: So I really I've been I've been kind of looking
- 41:31Speaker 3: at this myself because again, I'm an IT manager, so
- 41:33Speaker 3: we have to, you know, understand the nuances of things
- 41:37Speaker 3: like that. While in a corporate environment, we do subscribe
- 41:42Speaker 3: to malware bites and webroot for antivirus and anti malware.
- 41:47Speaker 3: Windows Defender is amazing. It has gotten so much better
- 41:52Speaker 3: over the years, and I personally think for the average user,
- 41:56Speaker 3: as long as you're not doing anything crazy, I think
- 41:59Speaker 3: Windows to just fine. Good point too, because I think
- 42:02Speaker 3: it it may depend on the user and what they're
- 42:05Speaker 3: you know, what they're doing on the web.
- 42:06Speaker 1: Where they're searching. What are they looking for? That going
- 42:10Speaker 1: to make a big difference. Do they get a lot
- 42:12Speaker 1: of email? Do they click a lot? You know, that's
- 42:14Speaker 1: going to make a big difference soon. And if Gary,
- 42:16Speaker 1: if you're being safe, maybe Defender's going to be the
- 42:20Speaker 1: thing for you.
- 42:20Speaker 3: I'll tell you.
- 42:21Speaker 1: I've been disappointed because so I use a Semantic. I've
- 42:24Speaker 1: been paying for Semantic for maybe about five years now,
- 42:28Speaker 1: and you know, every year I drop one hundred and
- 42:31Speaker 1: something dollars on the subscription. And you know, Gloria can
- 42:35Speaker 1: use it, my daughter uses it, I use it, and
- 42:37Speaker 1: I can use it on different devices. But I lately,
- 42:40Speaker 1: I've just been getting so sick of the pop ups
- 42:43Speaker 1: to get me to pay for you know, this service,
- 42:46Speaker 1: or get me to pay for that service, or use
- 42:49Speaker 1: their their cloud service or backup service. And you know,
- 42:52Speaker 1: and I have another backup option with and I've been
- 42:55Speaker 1: using that. They also are doing antivirus now with a Kronus.
- 42:59Speaker 1: So I've been thinking about malware bytes. And I was
- 43:02Speaker 1: in the store the other day at the office depot.
- 43:05Speaker 1: They had Norton Semantek for thirty five dollars seventy dollars off,
- 43:11Speaker 1: so they pull you in. Now, next year they're going
- 43:15Speaker 1: to have to be paying the full price of the
- 43:17Speaker 1: one hundred and some odd dollars. They had malware Bytes
- 43:21Speaker 1: for three users for thirty nine dollars, and I thought,
- 43:25Speaker 1: you know, whenever we've had a situation where we've recommended
- 43:28Speaker 1: somebody said, hey, my computer's acting up, we've always said
- 43:31Speaker 1: it malware bytes. Use that to try and figure out
- 43:33Speaker 1: what's going on, et cetera. But is that the same thing.
- 43:37Speaker 1: Is it price gonna go up after a year? You
- 43:41Speaker 1: buy it for thirty five bucks, and then next our
- 43:42Speaker 1: thirty nine dollars. Next thing, you know, it's going to
- 43:44Speaker 1: be one hundred and thirty nine next year.
- 43:46Speaker 3: I personally don't know, because again I'm in a corporate environment,
- 43:50Speaker 3: so we have a different licensing structure than the average consumer.
- 43:54Speaker 3: But I do know that malware bytes is an excellent
- 43:57Speaker 3: option out there. Another option personally at home, I use
- 44:02Speaker 3: e set and I've been using e set for it
- 44:04Speaker 3: like twenty years. Yeah, and e set never bothers me.
- 44:07Speaker 1: It never has pop ups, no pop ups, and they
- 44:09Speaker 1: have a very small footprint too.
- 44:11Speaker 3: Yeah, you know they don't.
- 44:12Speaker 1: It doesn't slow your system down a lot. Uh, Now, Sean,
- 44:15Speaker 1: I know you use malware bites.
- 44:17Speaker 3: What do you? Are you happy with it?
- 44:19Speaker 4: Yeah, it's it's good. It tells me, hey, you know,
- 44:23Speaker 4: if if I click out a malicious link or something,
- 44:25Speaker 4: it'll warn me and say, hey, there's you know it
- 44:27Speaker 4: quarantined to this link or quarantined this file. So I mean,
- 44:31Speaker 4: I'm not doing anything nefarious, but it does keep me
- 44:35Speaker 4: a piece of mind thing, right, And I don't seem
- 44:37Speaker 4: to have any issues, right, I don't, but I don't
- 44:41Speaker 4: pay a whole lot. Right, So malwaur bites has a
- 44:45Speaker 4: family protection plan for ten bucks a month, and I
- 44:48Speaker 4: think that's I believe that's what I have. I have
- 44:50Speaker 4: to look exactly at my invoice, but.
- 44:52Speaker 1: It's gonna one hundred and twenty a year. But you
- 44:54Speaker 1: you get you could protect more than just one system.
- 44:58Speaker 4: Yeah, you can protect up to time. I think ten,
- 45:00Speaker 4: ten or more devices. So I have it on Candle's computer.
- 45:03Speaker 4: I have it on my computer. It's MACPC Linux.
- 45:06Speaker 1: Now you don't have to pay for Windows Defender. I
- 45:10Speaker 1: did notice that starting to get an ad now for
- 45:13Speaker 1: backing up. They just matter of fact, Microsoft just pushed
- 45:18Speaker 1: an update this past week on Tuesday, and you may
- 45:21Speaker 1: right away. Boom, there was an ad for backing up
- 45:24Speaker 1: my system and that they wanted me to back up
- 45:27Speaker 1: I've already gotten.
- 45:28Speaker 3: I haven't gotten those ads.
- 45:29Speaker 1: Yeah, I just got that one, and I already have
- 45:31Speaker 1: a backup solution. You know, look look at look at
- 45:34Speaker 1: what I got.
- 45:35Speaker 3: Yeah, I cross, Yeah, I don't. I mean it's interesting.
- 45:38Speaker 3: I'm curious because if you get those ads but I haven't,
- 45:40Speaker 3: I mean I've gotten too. I got two different computers.
- 45:43Speaker 3: Well actually, I mean I work with a multitude computers
- 45:45Speaker 3: at work, but none of them are getting those those
- 45:47Speaker 3: backup and also have.
- 45:48Speaker 4: A pie hole.
- 45:49Speaker 3: Yeah, well okay, but I'm also using my Windows eleven
- 45:54Speaker 3: computer at work with Windows eleven and I don't get
- 45:57Speaker 3: those ads. It could be that I'm on Windows eleven
- 45:59Speaker 3: Pro at work and stuff, so maybe it's different than
- 46:01Speaker 3: the home. And yes, Sean, maybe because I do have
- 46:04Speaker 3: the pie hole running, so maybe, yeah, you could be
- 46:06Speaker 3: that that could be why I'm not getting those ads.
- 46:09Speaker 1: All right, So we got one from Fred in Green Valley.
- 46:11Speaker 3: Uh.
- 46:11Speaker 1: Fred actually called the station while I was on the air,
- 46:15Speaker 1: and he said, hey, I got a tech question for you.
- 46:17Speaker 3: Fred wanted to.
- 46:18Speaker 1: Know if we could give away CDs with Linux distributions
- 46:21Speaker 1: on it. Uh, it could be like the old days
- 46:23Speaker 1: of AOL.
- 46:25Speaker 4: Uh I would I would never trust anybody in this
- 46:29Speaker 4: day of age. No the USB or a CD. This
- 46:32Speaker 4: is installed this?
- 46:33Speaker 3: Yeah, you should.
- 46:35Speaker 4: You should never trust anyone that comes and gives you,
- 46:38Speaker 4: but not even me. How did how did a Well?
- 46:40Speaker 4: How did AOL get away with that? How day Well
- 46:43Speaker 4: get away with sending well?
- 46:44Speaker 3: Because that was before that was before everybody tried to
- 46:47Speaker 3: scam everybody else. You had people beck them Michael Lane, I'll.
- 46:50Speaker 4: Think about it. Right, It's like if you gave if
- 46:52Speaker 4: you gave somebody in an old no offense Andy, an
- 46:55Speaker 4: older generation and a CD is that here and saw
- 46:58Speaker 4: this one hundred percent? My mom gonna put that in
- 47:00Speaker 4: her computer install, yeah.
- 47:02Speaker 3: Or click it, download and install.
- 47:05Speaker 4: Yes, right, she's gonna download more ramp for her computer.
- 47:08Speaker 3: I mean, Fred, Fred, listen, listen, listen. Let me let
- 47:10Speaker 3: me be honest with you. Do what Sean says, do
- 47:13Speaker 3: not trust anybody with when for that? If you want Linux,
- 47:18Speaker 3: you need to go and get Linux yourself.
- 47:20Speaker 2: Go.
- 47:21Speaker 4: I will write you a step by step guy to
- 47:23Speaker 4: how to download Linux and put it on a USB stick.
- 47:25Speaker 3: Do a video or something like that.
- 47:27Speaker 4: Yeah, we should, but do Yeah. I would know if
- 47:31Speaker 4: somebody's coming to you and saying, hey, I put this
- 47:33Speaker 4: custom distribution of Linux on here for you, go ahead
- 47:35Speaker 4: and install it, right, I'd be very very hesitant to
- 47:39Speaker 4: install it unless it came from somebody that I really
- 47:43Speaker 4: really trust. Even then I would be.
- 47:45Speaker 3: I mean, this is this is akin to like a
- 47:47Speaker 3: stranger walking up to you on the street of like Manhattan,
- 47:49Speaker 3: you know, in the middle of downtown Manhattan and be like,
- 47:51Speaker 3: here is a random drink. Drink this, yeah, exactly, No, No,
- 47:55Speaker 3: I'm not gonna do.
- 47:55Speaker 1: It's like finding a USB drive people, you know, colleges
- 47:58Speaker 1: are back in session. Uh, people have done that where
- 48:00Speaker 1: they'll drop USB drive on purpose and it's loaded with
- 48:04Speaker 1: malware or you know, and next.
- 48:06Speaker 3: Thing you know, you've infected your system. YEP. A lot
- 48:09Speaker 3: of people, a lot of infections start on college campuses
- 48:12Speaker 3: because kids are stupid.
- 48:14Speaker 4: Well that's the thing, Like, that's people. That's the biggest
- 48:17Speaker 4: oversight in security is people.
- 48:20Speaker 3: Yeah, we are the weakest link combined stupid.
- 48:24Speaker 4: Like people don't think about stuff like that, right, Like
- 48:27Speaker 4: every day you you use the thumb drive for your computer, right,
- 48:30Speaker 4: So you don't think that taking a thumb drive from
- 48:32Speaker 4: my computer at home and plugging you to computer or
- 48:35Speaker 4: it would be a big deal.
- 48:36Speaker 3: Yeah, but it is.
- 48:37Speaker 4: It's a huge security risk.
- 48:39Speaker 3: Well this, this is why the government a long time ago,
- 48:41Speaker 3: back when I was working in UH in the government industry,
- 48:44Speaker 3: you know, working for the d D, they banned all
- 48:47Speaker 3: devices like cell phones, they banned USB drives, they banned
- 48:51Speaker 3: all that stuff because of this exact.
- 48:53Speaker 1: Yeah, they locked down the USB ports, which a good
- 48:56Speaker 1: administrator will do.
- 48:57Speaker 3: Yep.
- 48:57Speaker 1: Yeah, And if you need something you have to call
- 48:59Speaker 1: put in a tick it and it'll be done that way.
- 49:01Speaker 3: All right.
- 49:01Speaker 1: So ed Bott, who has been on the show before
- 49:04Speaker 1: years ago, who has been with zd net, put together
- 49:08Speaker 1: a story in how to.
- 49:09Speaker 3: Upgrade the greatest name ever by the way.
- 49:11Speaker 1: Ed Bot, I love it, but it's how to upgrade
- 49:13Speaker 1: your incompatible Windows ten PC to Windows eleven.
- 49:16Speaker 3: So you know I've been going through that. It's been frustrating.
- 49:19Speaker 1: You don't have to throw away a perfectly good PC,
- 49:21Speaker 1: as the article says, UH using some tips found in
- 49:25Speaker 1: ads articles. So if you go to zd net, look
- 49:27Speaker 1: for ed Bot's article on how to upgrade. He talks
- 49:30Speaker 1: about using the registry, edit the bypass CPU checks, changing
- 49:34Speaker 1: a key to the Windows registry, then downloading the Windows
- 49:37Speaker 1: eleven IO, then mounting the ISO and filed.
- 49:40Speaker 3: Explorer, and then running the setup.
- 49:42Speaker 1: That's one way to do it, and said that you
- 49:44Speaker 1: can get by the you know, if you go open
- 49:47Speaker 1: up your computer, you'll see you can't run Windows eleven,
- 49:49Speaker 1: so you can't download the Isso this is the way
- 49:51Speaker 1: to get around it.
- 49:52Speaker 3: You know. That's it's interesting that this did not come
- 49:55Speaker 3: out years ago when Windows eleven first came out, that
- 49:58Speaker 3: this workaround. For years, we've been talking about this where
- 50:02Speaker 3: it's it's impossible to install Windows eleven unless you have TPM,
- 50:05Speaker 3: and all of a sudden it's like, actually, all, yeah,
- 50:07Speaker 3: I do is change one simple registery setting.
- 50:10Speaker 4: Yeah, that's probably the benefit of a great marketing campaign
- 50:13Speaker 4: and great search engine opsimization. Right, they probably bear They
- 50:16Speaker 4: probably Microsoft probably paid a ton of money to bury
- 50:20Speaker 4: anything that listed anything about trying to get Windows tend
- 50:25Speaker 4: to run without TPM two point oh oh.
- 50:26Speaker 1: Yeah, and I bought a TPM two point oh it's
- 50:29Speaker 1: all happy, and it didn't work. Then I found out
- 50:31Speaker 1: my processor would not qualify. But I think you'd be
- 50:33Speaker 1: able to get around it on this case another quick break,
- 50:35Speaker 1: we come back with more of tech talk Radio.
- 50:37Speaker 3: I'm A D. Taylor, I'm Sean de Weird, and I'm
- 50:40Speaker 3: justin Lemme. You can find us on the Facebook's forward slash.
- 50:42Speaker 3: Tech Talkers were right.
- 50:44Speaker 5: Back and now fact to tech Talk Radio.
- 50:47Speaker 1: For our website of the Week. I love this app
- 50:51Speaker 1: that Sean told me about. I didn't think I was
- 50:53Speaker 1: gonna like it. I was like, Yeah, that's cool. That's
- 50:55Speaker 1: out there. Spot the Station and it's the International Space Station.
- 50:59Speaker 3: You get the app. It's free to use.
- 51:01Speaker 1: But what it does is it will alert you when
- 51:03Speaker 1: the space station is going to be flying over your community.
- 51:08Speaker 3: And the first time I.
- 51:09Speaker 1: Tried it, I went outside and it even has a
- 51:11Speaker 1: tracker and it shows you where in the sky it's
- 51:14Speaker 1: going to be and you look for not a flashing light,
- 51:17Speaker 1: just a solid, steady light that will move across the sky. Well,
- 51:22Speaker 1: the next day I got another alert.
- 51:24Speaker 3: I went out.
- 51:25Speaker 1: Every time that thing goes off, I will go outside
- 51:27Speaker 1: and take a look. I had a great view last
- 51:29Speaker 1: night or Spot the Station, and I just think it's
- 51:32Speaker 1: a great app to have.
- 51:33Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 51:33Speaker 4: So it started. It started as a text service where
- 51:36Speaker 4: you could get text messages.
- 51:37Speaker 3: So you can.
- 51:38Speaker 4: You can go to spotthstation dot Nasa dot gov and
- 51:40Speaker 4: sign up. It's it's free and it's amazing. I've used
- 51:43Speaker 4: it to track the space station. I've used it to
- 51:45Speaker 4: line up specific events that I've wanted to capture with
- 51:48Speaker 4: the space station in them. And this is kind of
- 51:50Speaker 4: a cool part to tie it into that. They just
- 51:52Speaker 4: brought back the star Liner module, the Boeing star Yeah,
- 51:56Speaker 4: the Boeing star Liner module that was up there. So
- 51:59Speaker 4: if you're interested in space at all, like this is
- 52:01Speaker 4: a cool thing that you can do with your kids.
- 52:04Speaker 4: It's free, it gets them outside, it gets them engaged
- 52:07Speaker 4: with space. It's just a cool thing. And I use
- 52:10Speaker 4: it all the time and anytime it goes over, I
- 52:13Speaker 4: just make a point to get outside. It's just just
- 52:15Speaker 4: for a minute, just to see it go over. It's
- 52:17Speaker 4: it's just a cool thing.
- 52:18Speaker 1: It's been a lot of fun.
- 52:19Speaker 4: Now.
- 52:19Speaker 1: One question I have though, is that do they actually
- 52:22Speaker 1: have a light on the space station or is that
- 52:24Speaker 1: the sun reflecting?
- 52:26Speaker 4: Is that is solely the sun reflecting off of everything.
- 52:29Speaker 4: It's just every you know, you can see satellites that
- 52:31Speaker 4: way too, right, So it's just the sun reflecting off
- 52:34Speaker 4: because if you watch it at night go and you
- 52:38Speaker 4: watch it for the duration of the time, you actually
- 52:40Speaker 4: see it fade out. Yeah, like a like a like
- 52:43Speaker 4: just a light fading out. Because if you do, you
- 52:46Speaker 4: do long exposures with that, you can actually get the
- 52:48Speaker 4: trail disappearing with your long exposure.
- 52:51Speaker 1: The one last night, it was real bright coming over
- 52:53Speaker 1: and then once it started to go off with the horizon,
- 52:55Speaker 1: I said, where is it?
- 52:55Speaker 3: Where'd it go? And yeah, it just disappears.
- 52:58Speaker 4: The cool part about that too, is still there, you
- 53:00Speaker 4: just can't see it.
- 53:01Speaker 3: Ye.
- 53:02Speaker 4: No, No, it's just the sun has set for the
- 53:04Speaker 4: space station.
- 53:05Speaker 3: Uh.
- 53:05Speaker 4: And what's cool about that too, is that as it
- 53:07Speaker 4: goes over, if you are into Ham radio at all,
- 53:10Speaker 4: you can actually listen to the repeater that it's on
- 53:13Speaker 4: the space station and people that are talking back and forth.
- 53:15Speaker 4: For Andy, we've done this live, but we did it
- 53:17Speaker 4: live on the show where I took my radio outside.
- 53:19Speaker 4: You guys heard it. But if you're you're just free
- 53:23Speaker 4: to listen. So if you get if you get a
- 53:24Speaker 4: cheap Ham radio, you can dial in the frequencies and
- 53:27Speaker 4: listen to the Space station. It goes as it goes over.
- 53:29Speaker 3: What's the website to address again?
- 53:31Speaker 4: Spot the station, dot NASA, dot dove, justin.
- 53:34Speaker 1: You got to get this and show Eric because I
- 53:35Speaker 1: think he'd probably really like it.
- 53:38Speaker 3: Oh yeah, definitely.
- 53:39Speaker 1: All right, that's it for this week's tech Talk Radio.
- 53:41Speaker 3: I'm Andy Taylor, I'm Sean de Weird, and I'm Justin.
- 53:44Speaker 3: Let me once again find us on the web at
- 53:46Speaker 3: tech talk radio dot com. We'll see guys next week.
- 53:48Speaker 3: Have a good one.
