- 0:02Welcome to Bible Chat, where we have devotional conversations
- 0:06rooted in Scripture and relevant for today.
- 0:09March 8th. Roots that bare life.
- 0:13Have you ever felt so overwhelmed that you wondered if
- 0:15you had anything left to give? Like life kept draining you and
- 0:19instead of growing, you felt like you were barely surviving?
- 0:23Some seasons don't feel fruitful at all.
- 0:25They feel dry, exhausting, and confusing.
- 0:29In Job chapter 17, verse one, Job says, my spirit is broken,
- 0:33my days are extinct. The graveyard is ready for me.
- 0:37That's not mild discouragement, that's deep anguish.
- 0:40Job felt crushed. His future looked empty.
- 0:44His strength felt gone. Maybe you've had moments where
- 0:46your spirit felt broken too, where hope seemed distant and
- 0:50joy felt unreachable. But then Proverbs Chapter 11,
- 0:54verses 30 to 31 tells us the fruit of the righteous is a tree
- 0:58of life, and whoever captures souls is wise.
- 1:02If the righteous is repaid on earth, how much more the wicked
- 1:05and the Sinner? The fruit of the righteous is a
- 1:08tree of life. Think about that image.
- 1:10A tree doesn't produce fruit overnight.
- 1:13It grows slowly. Its roots stretch deep before
- 1:16its branches stretch wide, and even in harsh weather, if its
- 1:20roots are strong, it survives. Living God's way doesn't
- 1:23guarantee easy seasons. It guarantees deep roots.
- 1:28And Job chapter 36, verse 15 says he delivers the afflicted
- 1:32by their affliction and opens their ear by adversity.
- 1:35That means adversity isn't wasted.
- 1:38Pain can become a classroom. Hardship can become a place
- 1:42where God gets your attention in a deeper way.
- 1:45Sometimes it's in the breaking that we finally listen.
- 1:48Sometimes it's in the struggle that we learn to depend fully on
- 1:51Him. When your spirit feels low, it's
- 1:54tempting to believe you have nothing to offer.
- 1:57But if you stay rooted in God, through prayer, through
- 2:00scripture, through quiet trust, your life still produces fruit.
- 2:03Maybe it's patience. Maybe it's compassion.
- 2:07Maybe it's wisdom that only comes from walking through fire.
- 2:11Other people will one day sit under the shade of what you grew
- 2:14through. A tree of life doesn't exist for
- 2:16itself. It blesses others.
- 2:19Your faith, even in pain, can encourage someone watching you.
- 2:23Your decision to stay connected to God when life is hard speaks
- 2:27louder than you realize. You may feel like you're in a
- 2:30barren season, but roots grow strongest underground where no
- 2:33one sees. God is working in the hidden
- 2:36places of your heart. He is shaping your character.
- 2:40He is teaching you through adversity.
- 2:42And in time, fruit will come. So don't measure your life only
- 2:46by what you see above the surface.
- 2:48Measure it by where your roots are planted.
- 2:51If they are planted in God. You will grow, you will bear
- 2:53life, and your story will bless others.
- 2:56Let's pray. Heavenly Father, when my spirit
- 2:59feels broken and life feels overwhelming, remind me that you
- 3:03are still at work in me. Help me stay rooted in You so my
- 3:06life produces fruit that brings life to others.
- 3:10Teach me through adversity and open my ears to what You want me
- 3:13to learn. Grow my faith in the hidden
- 3:15places and use my life for Your purpose in Jesus name, Amen.

- 4:47Proverbs Chapter 11 verses 30 to 31 World English Bible.
- 4:52The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life.
- 4:54He who is wise wins souls. Behold, the righteous shall be
- 4:58repaid in the earth. How much more the wicked and the
- 5:00Sinner. Job, Chapters 15 to 17 World
- 5:04English Bible. Then Alyph, as the Temenite
- 5:07answered, should a wise man answer with vain knowledge, and
- 5:10fill himself with the east wind? Should he reason with
- 5:13unprofitable talk, or with speeches with which he can do no
- 5:16good? Yes, you do away with fear and
- 5:19hinder devotion before God, for your iniquity teaches your
- 5:22mouth, and you choose the language of the crafty.
- 5:25Your own mouth condemns you, and not I Yes, your own lips testify
- 5:29against you. Are you the first man who was
- 5:31born, or were you brought out before the hills?
- 5:34Have you heard the secret counsel of God?
- 5:36Do you limit wisdom to yourself? What do you know that we don't
- 5:39know? What do you understand which is
- 5:41not in us? With us are both the Gray headed
- 5:43and the very aged men, much older than your father.
- 5:47Are the consolations of God too small for you, even the Word
- 5:50that is gentle toward you? Why does your heart carry you
- 5:53away? Why do your eyes flash?
- 5:55That you turn your spirit against God, and let such words
- 5:58go out of your mouth? What is man?
- 6:00That he should be clean? What is he who is born of a
- 6:03woman? That he should be righteous?
- 6:05Behold, he puts no trust in his holy ones.
- 6:08Yes, the heavens are not clean in his sight.
- 6:10How much less one who is abominable and corrupt, A man
- 6:13who drinks iniquity like water. I will show you, listen to me.
- 6:17That which I have seen, I will declare.
- 6:19Which wise men have told by their fathers, and have not
- 6:22hidden it. To whom alone the land was
- 6:25given, and no stranger passed among them.
- 6:27The wicked man writhes in pain all his days, even the number of
- 6:31years that are laid up for the oppressor.
- 6:33A sound of terrors is in his ears.
- 6:35In prosperity the destroyer will come on him.
- 6:38He doesn't believe that he will return out of darkness.
- 6:41He is waited for by the sword. He wanders abroad for bread,
- 6:44saying, Where is it? He knows that the day of
- 6:47darkness is ready at his hand. Distress and anguish make him
- 6:51afraid. They prevail against him as a
- 6:54king ready to the battle, because he has stretched out his
- 6:56hand against God and behaves himself proudly against the
- 7:00Almighty. He runs at him with a stiff
- 7:02neck, with the thick Shields of his bucklers, because he has
- 7:05covered his face with his fatness and gathered fat on his
- 7:08thighs. He has lived in desolate cities,
- 7:11in houses which no one inhabited, which were ready to
- 7:14become heaps. He will not be rich, neither
- 7:17will his substance continue, neither will their possessions
- 7:20be extended on the earth. He will not depart out of
- 7:23darkness. The flame will dry up his
- 7:25branches. He will go away by the breath of
- 7:27God's mouth. Let him not trust in emptiness,
- 7:30deceiving himself, for emptiness will be his reward.
- 7:33It will be accomplished before his time.
- 7:36His branch will not be green. He will shake off his unripe
- 7:39grape as the vine, and will cast off his flower as the olive
- 7:43tree. For the company of the godless
- 7:45will be barren, and fire will consume the tents of bribery.
- 7:48They conceive mischief and produce iniquity.
- 7:51Their heart prepares deceit. Then Job answered.
- 7:54I have heard many such things. You are all miserable
- 7:57comforters. Shall vain words have an end, Or
- 8:00what provokes you that you answer?
- 8:01I also could speak as you do. If your soul were in my soul's
- 8:05place. I could join words together
- 8:07against you, and shake my head at you.
- 8:09But I would strengthen you with my mouth.
- 8:11The solace of my lips would relieve you.
- 8:13Though I speak, my grief is not subsided.
- 8:16Though I for bear, what am I eased?
- 8:18But now, God, you have surely worn me out.
- 8:21You have made all my company desolate.
- 8:23You have shriveled me up. This is a witness against me.
- 8:26My leanness rises up against me. It testifies to my face.
- 8:30He has torn me in His wrath and persecuted me.
- 8:33He has gnashed on me with his teeth.
- 8:35My adversary sharpens his eyes on me.
- 8:37They have gaped on me with their mouth.
- 8:39They have struck me on the cheek.
- 8:40Reproachfully they gather themselves together against me.
- 8:44God delivers me to the ungodly and casts me into the hands of
- 8:47the wicked. I was at ease and He broke me
- 8:50apart. Yes, He has taken me by the neck
- 8:53and dashed me to pieces. He has also set me up for His
- 8:56target. His Archers surround me.
- 8:58He splits my kidneys apart and does not spare.
- 9:01He pours out my bile on the ground.
- 9:03He breaks me with breech on breech.
- 9:05He runs at me like a giant. I have sewed sackcloth on my
- 9:08skin and have thrust my horn in the dust.
- 9:11My face is red with weeping, deep darkness is on my eyelids,
- 9:15although there is no violence in my hands, and my prayer is pure
- 9:19earth. Don't cover my blood.
- 9:21Let my cry have no place to rest.
- 9:23Even now, Behold, my witness is in heaven.
- 9:26He who vouches for me is on high.
- 9:28My friends scoff at me, My eyes pour out tears to God, that he
- 9:32would maintain the right of a man with God, of a son, of man
- 9:35with his neighbor. For when a few years have come,
- 9:38I will go the way of no return. My spirit is consumed, my days
- 9:42are extinct, and the grave is ready for me.
- 9:45Surely there are mockers with me.
- 9:47My eye dwells on their provocation.
- 9:49Now give a pledge. Be collateral for me with
- 9:51yourself. Who is there who will strike
- 9:53hands with me? For you have hidden their heart
- 9:55from understanding. Therefore you will not exalt
- 9:58them. He who denounces his friends for
- 10:00plunder, even the eyes of his children will fail.
- 10:03But he has made me a byword of the people.
- 10:06They spit in my face. My eye also is dim by reason of
- 10:09sorrow. All my members are as a shadow.
- 10:12Upright men will be astonished at this.
- 10:14The innocent will stir himself up against the godless, yet the
- 10:18righteous will hold to his way. He who has clean hands will grow
- 10:21stronger and stronger. But As for you all come back, I
- 10:25will not find a wise man among you.
- 10:27My days are past. My plans are broken off, as are
- 10:30the thoughts of my heart. They change the night into day,
- 10:33saying the light is near in the presence of darkness.
- 10:36If I look for she all as my house, if I have spread my couch
- 10:39in the darkness, if I have said to corruption you are my father,
- 10:43and to the worm my mother and my sister, Where then is my hope?
- 10:47As for my hope, who will see it? Shall it go down with me to the
- 10:50gates of she All or descend together into the dust?
