- 0:04Speaker 1: and rubble caused by the devastating back to back earthquakes
- 0:07Speaker 1: five days ago and today, the region experienced a four
- 0:10Speaker 1: point six magnitude aftershock that rattled rescuers and residents in
- 0:15Speaker 1: the disaster zone. The Venezuelan government estimates up to seventeen
- 0:19Speaker 1: hundred people have died, but that number is expected to
- 0:22Speaker 1: climb even higher. Stephanie Sai has our.

- 0:31Speaker 2: oblivious to the ruins that surround him. Baby Juan was
- 0:35Speaker 2: trapped beneath the concrete for thirty two hours. Mom is
- 0:39Speaker 2: pulled out moments later and carried to an ambulance. The
- 0:43Speaker 2: baby's robust cries a relief. Five days after the earthquakes struck,
- 0:50Speaker 2: the search is on for miracles. The window for survivability
- 0:54Speaker 2: without food or water is closing. But today rescuers pulled
- 0:59Speaker 2: this tree, twenty one year old man from the rubble.
- 1:04Speaker 2: Tens of thousands of Venezuelans are still missing. Anorrata is
- 1:09Speaker 2: searching for her sister.
- 1:12Speaker 3: Difficult, difficult, but looking forward, we must have faith.
- 1:17Speaker 4: Never losing hope. I'm here. They said, there were signs
- 1:21Speaker 4: of life, and I ran up here. I have faith.
- 1:24Speaker 4: Until I see the body.
- 1:25Speaker 2: I have faith. Vladimir Moreno said the family was able
- 1:30Speaker 2: to reach his sister, who is believed trapped Hallo. This
- 1:36Speaker 2: rescue crew from Turkey is using thermal imaging equipment to
- 1:40Speaker 2: detect signs of life. Another team from the UK brought
- 1:44Speaker 2: dogs to Laguira, the hardest hit state. They're specially trained

- 2:08Speaker 2: few hundred volunteers to now two thousand.
- 2:11Speaker 4: Bacon as life loses its meaning, if we cannot help others,
- 2:15Speaker 4: we should help those in need, because no one knows
- 2:17Speaker 4: if one day it might be us who need help.
- 2:19Speaker 4: The national hospitals we've seen numbers of being at over

- 2:30Speaker 4: From our side, we're already working with partners on the ground, providing,
- 2:33Speaker 4: for example, access to medical support through mobile teams. They
- 2:37Speaker 4: are reporting and as you would expect in this kind
- 2:39Speaker 4: of context, continue mass movement of people throughout the country.
- 2:43Speaker 4: Out of the affected.
- 2:44Speaker 2: Zones, tens of thousands are now homeless, sleeping in shelters.
- 2:49Speaker 3: But the first thing I hope is they'll help me
- 2:52Speaker 3: and give me a place to live, because it's very
- 2:54Speaker 3: uncomfortable to be like this, sleeping bad, wanting to cook
- 2:58Speaker 3: my meals, prepare my things, and have my own room.
- 3:01Speaker 3: That's what I'm hoping for, that they'll help us and
- 3:03Speaker 3: give us a place to live.
- 3:05Speaker 2: For now, the focus is still on search and rescues.
- 3:09Speaker 4: While the number of missing people is still on those
- 3:12Speaker 4: levels of forty fifty thousand. You just need to keep
- 3:17Speaker 4: bringing the resources as much as possible. Like I mentioned before,
- 3:20Speaker 4: we're still in the clock. They haven't called off search
- 3:23Speaker 4: and rescue operations.
