- 3:51SPEAKER_00: Savannah, thank you so much for joining us on the pod.
- 3:53SPEAKER_03: Thanks for having me back again.
- 3:54SPEAKER_03: All right.
- 3:55SPEAKER_00: Big sale coming up.
- 3:57SPEAKER_03: Yes, the biggest one of the entire year.
- 3:59SPEAKER_00: I love this one.
- 4:01SPEAKER_03: I bet you do.
- 4:02SPEAKER_00: If it's are you still going with if it's under the glass, it's half the cash?
- 4:07SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 4:08SPEAKER_00: Oh my God.
- 4:10SPEAKER_03: Our radio ads and everything.
- 4:11SPEAKER_03: Oh yeah.
- 4:12SPEAKER_03: And the Dizzy.
- 4:15SPEAKER_00: October.
- 4:16SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 4:16SPEAKER_03: Next.
- 4:17SPEAKER_00: Kicks off.
- 4:18SPEAKER_00: We're going to have some closures though of the stores, right?
- 4:21SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 4:21SPEAKER_00: Duet and Dad import.
- 4:22SPEAKER_03: Yep.
- 4:23SPEAKER_03: Next Wednesday we're going to be closed, setting up everything for the half-off sale.
- 4:26SPEAKER_03: And then Friday and Saturday will be open to the public.
- 4:30SPEAKER_03: So everything will be 50% off.
- 4:32SPEAKER_03: Rings, bracelets, pendants, earrings, you name it, some watches for the guys, too.
- 4:36SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 4:37SPEAKER_03: Some top brands we can't technically mention.
- 4:39SPEAKER_03: Oh, nice.
- 4:40SPEAKER_03: Lots of lots of nice pieces.
- 4:43SPEAKER_00: So how do you select what items are part of the sale?
- 4:47SPEAKER_03: You know, that's a question for our inventory buyer, honestly.
- 4:50SPEAKER_03: Um, so a lot of them, though, we've had for a little bit.
- 4:53SPEAKER_03: We've been sitting on them, right?
- 4:54SPEAKER_03: We need to clear them out of the store, make way for new inventory for the holiday season.
- 4:58SPEAKER_03: But she has selected some new pieces just for the sale as well.
- 5:02SPEAKER_03: So even if you've come in, browsed everything, there's still maybe some new items that are in the sale and great deals too.
- 5:09SPEAKER_03: You know, the price of gold has skyrocketed over the last year.
- 5:12SPEAKER_03: Um, a lot of jewelers have gone back, they've re-evaluated everything in their cases.
- 5:17SPEAKER_03: We have not done that.
- 5:19SPEAKER_03: So you guys are getting like a deal on top of another deal.
- 5:22SPEAKER_03: The value of these pieces are great.
- 5:25SPEAKER_02: So what in your sale, what do you know just in general, what do you always see flying out the door?
- 5:30SPEAKER_02: If you have a big sale like this, yes.
- 5:32SPEAKER_02: Is it like engagement rings here?
- 5:34SPEAKER_03: Rings.
- 5:34SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 5:35SPEAKER_03: It's a perfect time to get engaged.
- 5:36SPEAKER_03: We have a lot of um set diamond rings already, but also we have loose diamonds under the case as well for sale at 50% off.
- 5:44SPEAKER_03: So if you are looking to get engaged, come on in.
- 5:46SPEAKER_03: Um, lots of loose natural diamonds.
- 5:49SPEAKER_00: And you guys have an amazing uh well, I don't know what his official title is, but the guy that sets the diamonds, what's his name?
- 5:56SPEAKER_00: Gemologist.
- 5:57SPEAKER_03: Yes, we do.
- 5:58SPEAKER_00: Todd.
- 5:58SPEAKER_00: Todd, gemologist.
- 6:00SPEAKER_00: I knew that.
- 6:01SPEAKER_00: But if you have, let's say, a setting from an heirloom and you just need some of the bling to put in, Todd can do that stuff, right?
- 6:08SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 6:09SPEAKER_03: So Todd will actually hand select all of our diamonds, um, which is so nice because you know, there's all these different grading institutes when it comes to diamonds.
- 6:18SPEAKER_03: Um, we love that GIA certification.
- 6:20SPEAKER_03: Todd was trained at GIA as well as himself.
- 6:24SPEAKER_00: He's a stud.
- 6:24SPEAKER_03: Yes, he's of a gemologist.
- 6:27SPEAKER_03: Great.
- 6:27SPEAKER_03: And so whenever we get a diamond in from any vendor, he actually goes through and regrades everything so you know exactly what you're getting, which is incredible.
- 6:37SPEAKER_03: That's a lot of diamonds.
- 6:38SPEAKER_03: A lot of diamonds.
- 6:39SPEAKER_03: He sees a lot.
- 6:40SPEAKER_03: Okay, a lot of gemstones, too.
- 6:41SPEAKER_00: You go to the wit store, Todd's got this awesome little spot.
- 6:44SPEAKER_00: Nestle right back in the corner, and you can see the big window where he's at.
- 6:48SPEAKER_00: And he's always doing something I can never do.
- 6:51SPEAKER_00: Wow.
- 6:51SPEAKER_00: Because my hands shake.
- 6:52SPEAKER_00: I can't.
- 6:52SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I couldn't.
- 6:53SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 6:53SPEAKER_02: So when you do you uh have uh lab-grown diamonds?
- 6:58SPEAKER_03: We do have lab grown diamonds.
- 6:59SPEAKER_02: Tell me the difference between the if there is one.
- 7:02SPEAKER_03: Yeah, no, there is.
- 7:03SPEAKER_03: Um, it's crazy.
- 7:04SPEAKER_03: So lab grown diamonds came out on the market a couple years ago.
- 7:08SPEAKER_03: Um, for us jewelers, you know, at that time it it was only about maybe a few thousand dollars less than the natural counterpart.
- 7:15SPEAKER_03: So to us, we're we're like, okay, these are of value.
- 7:18SPEAKER_03: You know, um, we knew at some point that that value would drop, right?
- 7:22SPEAKER_03: As people got their hands on this technology and started creating more and more, obviously the value is going to decrease.
- 7:27SPEAKER_03: So over the last few years, there's been a huge drop in the overall value of these natural or of these lab-grown diamonds.
- 7:33SPEAKER_03: Um, and so you can get your hands on them pretty at a pretty affordable price.
- 7:38SPEAKER_02: And you're not talking about quality, you're talking about uh cost.
- 7:41SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 7:41SPEAKER_02: Right, okay.
- 7:43SPEAKER_03: Um, you know, they are created in a lab, right?
- 7:45SPEAKER_03: They're created in factories.
- 7:46SPEAKER_03: And so that's the biggest difference when you're thinking about natural diamonds versus lab-grown diamonds.
- 7:51SPEAKER_03: I'm a huge nerd on this.
- 7:52SPEAKER_03: Um, I went to GIA school.
- 7:54SPEAKER_03: I actually studied there for three years.
- 7:55SPEAKER_00: GIA Gemologist Institute of America?
- 7:58SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 7:58SPEAKER_03: Wow.
- 8:00SPEAKER_03: Nailed it.
- 8:01SPEAKER_03: I uh was trained uh at the Carlsbad campus and also did distance education through that.
- 8:06SPEAKER_03: I got my certification actually last October, um, right before our last half-off sale.
- 8:10SPEAKER_00: Um Carlsbad, New Mexico?
- 8:12SPEAKER_03: Uh California.
- 8:13SPEAKER_03: California.
- 8:14SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 8:14SPEAKER_03: So I'm a huge nerd when it comes to gems, natural diamonds.
- 8:18SPEAKER_03: I will always influence somebody to buy a natural diamond.
- 8:22SPEAKER_03: I believe in them.
- 8:23SPEAKER_03: Um, you know, I think a lot of times people are like, oh, well, the markup has to be astronomical on these natural diamonds, and it's false.
- 8:30SPEAKER_03: It's actually the reverse.
- 8:31SPEAKER_03: Um, and so we just believe fullheartedly in natural diamonds.
- 8:35SPEAKER_00: Um so what you're saying is it is I don't want to use the word cheaper, but it's l it's less costly to manufacture a diamond.
- 8:44SPEAKER_00: And then the markup or the margin when it goes to market is a lot larger than it is if you were to buy a natural diamond.
- 8:51SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 8:51SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 8:52SPEAKER_03: I mean, Mother Nature is creating natural diamonds, right?
- 8:54SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 8:55SPEAKER_03: They're older than a dinosaur, which is crazy to think about.
- 8:58SPEAKER_03: Um, but you know, high heat, high pressure over millions of years are creating.
- 9:03SPEAKER_03: It sounds like I can become diamonds someday.
- 9:06SPEAKER_03: Oh, Jesus.
- 9:07SPEAKER_03: But you know, these lap grown diamonds are created in less than 24 hours.
- 9:11SPEAKER_03: Um, I think there's also a lot of misinformation when it comes to lab-grown diamonds made being more um, I guess, better for the environment, you know.
- 9:21SPEAKER_03: Uh, and that's actually not the case.
- 9:23SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 9:24SPEAKER_03: They're putting off more CO2 emissions than natural diamonds.
- 9:27SPEAKER_03: Uh, when it comes to natural diamond mining, you know, we have to restore a natural diamond mine within five years of a of a diamond mine closing.
- 9:34SPEAKER_03: Um, whereas with these lab ground factories, there's there's nothing in place for that.
- 9:38SPEAKER_03: No regulation.
- 9:39SPEAKER_03: Shut down a factory and just move on.
- 9:41SPEAKER_03: But what happens to all that land?
- 9:42SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 9:43SPEAKER_03: So a lot of things, you know, there's pros and cons.
- 9:46SPEAKER_03: Pros and cons to both, you know, we'll happily sell you a natural or a lab ground.
- 9:50SPEAKER_03: Um but yeah, the value up front you're saving on lab ground is great.
- 9:55SPEAKER_03: It's just in the future, it it the value is not gonna hold.
- 9:59SPEAKER_03: It's not gonna be there.
- 10:00SPEAKER_00: So yeah.
- 10:01SPEAKER_00: Does your uncle still do the stuff with jewelry?
- 10:03SPEAKER_00: Oh, yes.
- 10:04SPEAKER_00: Like he gets into the biz and uh Yes, yeah.
- 10:07SPEAKER_00: I can't remember what exactly he did, but I know I used to dabble every once in a while.
- 10:10SPEAKER_03: Yeah, so DJ uh is my uncle.
- 10:13SPEAKER_03: He's still very much involved in the business.
- 10:15SPEAKER_03: He's at the Davenport location.
- 10:17SPEAKER_00: Um there's another uncle that does some stuff too.
- 10:20SPEAKER_03: Yes, Doug, yes.
- 10:21SPEAKER_03: He does our DM promotions.
- 10:23SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 10:24SPEAKER_03: Family, all the D's.
- 10:25SPEAKER_03: So yeah.
- 10:26SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 10:27SPEAKER_03: Doug does DM promotions.
- 10:28SPEAKER_02: Do you is a customer able to come in and design their own piece of jewelry?
- 10:32SPEAKER_03: Absolutely.
- 10:33SPEAKER_03: We love custom.
- 10:35SPEAKER_03: It's one of the areas that I feel like we really thrive in.
- 10:37SPEAKER_00: It's gotta be fun.
- 10:38SPEAKER_03: Yes, it's so fun.
- 10:39SPEAKER_03: Um, so whether you're wanting to do a brand new piece, right?
- 10:42SPEAKER_03: Maybe you saw something on Pinterest and you're like, oh, I love this, but I want to make this tweak or that tweak.
- 10:46SPEAKER_03: Uh, we can do that.
- 10:47SPEAKER_03: If you want to create something from uh from scratch, we have talented artists that can easily sketch something up for you.
- 10:53SPEAKER_03: Um, and we get CAD designs back in less than 24 hours generally.
- 10:57SPEAKER_03: So you can get a full 3D model of what it's going to look like.
- 11:00SPEAKER_03: We can get the wax in so you can see that in person.
- 11:03SPEAKER_00: I don't even know what that is.
- 11:04SPEAKER_03: Waxin'?
- 11:05SPEAKER_03: Wax, a wax model of your piece.
- 11:08SPEAKER_03: So we can actually get that in so you know exactly what it's going to look like, how it's going to fit on your hand or how it's going to lay on your neck before we go through with the the final production.
- 11:17SPEAKER_00: I didn't even know that was an option.
- 11:19SPEAKER_03: Wild.
- 11:20SPEAKER_03: Wow.
- 11:20SPEAKER_02: Wow.
- 11:21SPEAKER_02: It's very cool.
- 11:22SPEAKER_00: So when I come in, uh, I'm assuming both locations, Dwitt and Davenport.
- 11:26SPEAKER_03: Yep.
- 11:26SPEAKER_00: I come in, I want to make a custom piece.
- 11:29SPEAKER_00: What do I do?
- 11:30SPEAKER_00: Sit at a computer?
- 11:31SPEAKER_00: How does that work?
- 11:31SPEAKER_03: So you'll just sit down with one of our sales members.
- 11:34SPEAKER_03: Um, they'll kind of help go through the entire process, what you're looking for.
- 11:38SPEAKER_03: If there's any symbolism, I think that's one of the coolest pieces on custom, right?
- 11:41SPEAKER_03: Is you can add your own symbolic pieces or symbolic aspects to your piece.
- 11:46SPEAKER_03: Um, they will go over, you know, diamonds, gemstones that you want in it.
- 11:50SPEAKER_03: We'll generally try and source those first.
- 11:53SPEAKER_03: We'll get the measurements of all those stones, and then we'll go through um actually submitting it, getting the CAD, the wax, and CAD computer aided design.
- 12:04SPEAKER_03: Yep.
- 12:05SPEAKER_03: And it takes about four to six weeks for a full custom piece.
- 12:07SPEAKER_03: So not too long.
- 12:08SPEAKER_02: Are people moving away from, or maybe not moving away, but including and or substituting uh gemstones for diamonds and engagement rings?
- 12:16SPEAKER_02: I've kind of heard that that's sort of a style.
- 12:18SPEAKER_03: Yeah, gemstones are really popular.
- 12:20SPEAKER_03: A lot of rubies, a lot of sapphires, emeralds, we're seeing too.
- 12:25SPEAKER_00: So I met a young lady the other day, and she her uh ring, it was an engagement ring, but it was a black diamond.
- 12:32SPEAKER_02: Yes, yes.
- 12:33SPEAKER_02: I've seen those too.
- 12:34SPEAKER_00: That was interesting to see.
- 12:35SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 12:36SPEAKER_00: You got a lot of people coming in wanting the colors.
- 12:38SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 12:38SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 12:39SPEAKER_00: Not the traditional bling.
- 12:41SPEAKER_03: You want something a little unique.
- 12:42SPEAKER_03: And we're also seeing even if they want to go with the diamond route, they're just setting it in a different way.
- 12:47SPEAKER_03: So instead of, you know, up and down, we're gonna set it more of an east to west.
- 12:51SPEAKER_03: So if you had an elongated stone, we're now tilting it on the hand.
- 12:54SPEAKER_03: So rather than elongated on our finger, we're going across, which is super neat.
- 12:57SPEAKER_03: Or they're offsetting it and they're just tilting it just a little bit to be super different.
- 13:02SPEAKER_03: So we're seeing a lot of 90s styles come back too.
- 13:05SPEAKER_03: The 90s.
- 13:06SPEAKER_03: That's my question.
- 13:07SPEAKER_03: Throwback Jenny.
- 13:08SPEAKER_03: Throwback vintage, which I'm here for.
- 13:10SPEAKER_03: I love all the thick gold designs, the bubble, the fluted details.
- 13:17SPEAKER_03: I mean, even like the knot jewelry, right, that your grandmother used to wear that looked like a ball of yarn on your ears.
- 13:22SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 13:23SPEAKER_03: That's coming back.
- 13:23SPEAKER_02: You're kidding.
- 13:24SPEAKER_03: No, and I love it.
- 13:25SPEAKER_02: Hey, did Taylor Swift have any, did her diamond ring have any influence on what you're seeing now?
- 13:31SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 13:31SPEAKER_02: A hon or I don't even know what it looked like.
- 13:33SPEAKER_00: What was it?
- 13:33SPEAKER_02: Football?
- 13:34SPEAKER_03: And a football.
- 13:36SPEAKER_03: Beautiful design with all this filigree and yellow gold.
- 13:40SPEAKER_03: Obviously, she had a very large, I can't even remember what the size of her huge hairway was.
- 13:45SPEAKER_03: It's just massive.
- 13:46SPEAKER_00: Well, I hope she paid for it.
- 13:48SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 13:49SPEAKER_00: She's I hope they signed a prenup too.
- 13:51SPEAKER_03: Right, right.
- 13:52SPEAKER_03: Yeah, you better get that ring back.
- 13:55SPEAKER_02: Giant ring.
- 13:56SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 13:56SPEAKER_03: Crazy.
- 13:57SPEAKER_03: But yes, that has definitely influenced uh the market as well.
- 14:00SPEAKER_03: What's the trend?
- 14:02SPEAKER_02: You know, every so often it changes, and then there's white gold or silver, then there's gold, and there what's it coming around to in style?
- 14:09SPEAKER_03: Still yellow gold.
- 14:10SPEAKER_03: Really?
- 14:12SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 14:13SPEAKER_03: Um, so yellow gold is still a majority of what we're we're seeing asked for, but I think people are still layering it with their white gold.
- 14:20SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I like to mix it up.
- 14:21SPEAKER_03: I have a white gold pair of mixed metals?
- 14:24SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 14:24SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 14:24SPEAKER_00: Oh, kid now.
- 14:26SPEAKER_03: Oh, yeah.
- 14:26SPEAKER_00: I remember that was like faux pas.
- 14:28SPEAKER_00: You couldn't do that if you're like a black and brown.
- 14:30SPEAKER_00: You didn't have to.
- 14:31SPEAKER_00: If you were wearing a suit and you had uh you know a silver belt buckle, yes, you didn't rock the gold jewelry.
- 14:36SPEAKER_00: You had to had to match.
- 14:38SPEAKER_03: Now you do it and you just look 10 times cooler.
- 14:40SPEAKER_03: Dang it.
- 14:41SPEAKER_00: I gotta start mixing stuff up.
- 14:43SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 14:44SPEAKER_00: Put some thought into it.
- 14:45SPEAKER_00: Everything under the glass, half the cash.
- 14:48SPEAKER_00: Mark your calendars, folks.
- 14:49SPEAKER_00: October 23rd, 24th is your upcoming sale.
- 14:53SPEAKER_00: Now, there's also a community give back component to this.
- 14:57SPEAKER_00: Can you explain that?
- 14:58SPEAKER_03: Yeah, our gift of giving program, um, we've been doing for over a decade.
- 15:03SPEAKER_03: Every single month we choose a different charity around the Quad Cities area, Clinton County area, um, to give back to.
- 15:10SPEAKER_03: Um, so when you come in and you shop, a proceed goes back to Gigi's Playhouse of the Quad Cities.
- 15:16SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 15:16SPEAKER_00: What is Gigi's?
- 15:17SPEAKER_03: So they give back to um individuals with Down syndrome.
- 15:21SPEAKER_03: So they um have a lot of different educational programs, training programs, therapeutic programs for them.
- 15:28SPEAKER_00: No, that's great.
- 15:29SPEAKER_03: Wow.
- 15:29SPEAKER_00: So a portion of the proceeds generated just from this sale?
- 15:33SPEAKER_03: From the entire month of October.
- 15:35SPEAKER_00: Entire month of October goes to Gigi's Playhouse.
- 15:38SPEAKER_03: And they have a big gala coming up here this weekend, actually, on the October 6th.
- 15:42SPEAKER_03: You know what?
- 15:43SPEAKER_00: I did see that.
- 15:43SPEAKER_00: It popped up on the old Facebook feed.
- 15:47SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's awesome.
- 15:48SPEAKER_00: So again, whether you're celebrating milestone, getting a head start on your holiday shopping, because that'll be here before you know it.
- 15:55SPEAKER_00: Went into the store the other day, local store here.
- 15:59SPEAKER_00: Christmas stuff everywhere.
- 16:00unknown: I know.
- 16:01SPEAKER_00: It's I don't know why I like it.
- 16:02SPEAKER_00: I mean, I yeah, I'm into it, but it's like all it does is remind me of the stuff I have to buy.
- 16:07SPEAKER_00: I know it.
- 16:07SPEAKER_02: Don't do that though.
- 16:09SPEAKER_02: Don't be stressed out so that you can go and put pressure on myself.
- 16:12SPEAKER_02: I'm gonna become a diamond.
- 16:13SPEAKER_02: You're creating it.
- 16:15SPEAKER_03: We like a little pressure.
- 16:16SPEAKER_00: A little pressure gets you a long way.
- 16:18SPEAKER_00: Again, October 23rd, 24th for the sale.
- 16:20SPEAKER_00: Both stores for neckers are participating.
- 16:24SPEAKER_00: Davenport off of 53rd, and then DeWitt on that, what is that, 6th?
- 16:28SPEAKER_03: Yes, 6th Avenue.
- 16:29SPEAKER_00: Sixth Avenue.
- 16:30SPEAKER_00: Beautiful store.
- 16:30SPEAKER_00: Oh, they are.
- 16:31SPEAKER_00: I like both of your stores.
- 16:32SPEAKER_00: The ones brand spanking.
- 16:35SPEAKER_00: But the DeWitt one, and that's where all my peeps, a lot of my peeps work at the DeWitt store.
- 16:39SPEAKER_00: So I think back in the day, I used to just walk in and then like walk back to the little where the couches are and stuff.
- 16:46SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 16:47SPEAKER_00: And nobody would say anything.
- 16:48SPEAKER_00: And then I would mosey on up to Dave's office and be like, make yourself at home.
- 16:53SPEAKER_00: Maybe like, oh, it's just Andy.
- 16:54SPEAKER_00: Like, is that guy's here to rob you?
- 16:56SPEAKER_00: No, nope.
- 16:56SPEAKER_00: He's just here uh to hang out.
- 16:58SPEAKER_02: So, what other merchandise do you have there besides jewelry?
- 17:01SPEAKER_02: Do you carry anything else besides like, you know?
- 17:04SPEAKER_03: You know, we have some Neckers merch, um, some jewelry boxes.
- 17:08SPEAKER_03: So we started carrying wolf jewelry boxes, watch winders, things of that nature.
- 17:13SPEAKER_03: So yep, yep.
- 17:14SPEAKER_03: So we're able to get those in for you.
- 17:16SPEAKER_03: We have our Neckers t-shirts, hats, travel jewelry boxes, but obviously jewelry is our extensive watch collection.
- 17:25SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 17:25SPEAKER_00: I mean, they have a ton of different varieties, many of which you will not find anywhere else.
- 17:30SPEAKER_02: No, and you know, that's something where uh not to sound like I don't know.
- 17:36SPEAKER_02: Anyway, I just but if a girl's looking for something for her boyfriend or her husband, it's hard to find, you know, a good watch always is yes, and you can never have too many watches.
- 17:45SPEAKER_03: No, so many different colors, so many different bracelet types, you know.
- 17:50SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 17:50SPEAKER_03: You need one for your your gym attire, you need one for your nice fancy suit and one for your everyday.
- 17:56SPEAKER_00: I have to go to a black tie event on Friday.
- 17:59SPEAKER_00: You do, German American Chamber of Commerce.
- 18:03SPEAKER_00: Uh going to Chicago for that.
- 18:05SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 18:06SPEAKER_00: Meet with them.
- 18:07SPEAKER_00: We joined their organization, but yes, they have a gala, and I am going on Friday evening, and it says business attire or black tie.
- 18:17SPEAKER_00: Well, I'm not gonna just rock a sports coat.
- 18:20SPEAKER_02: So I told you to buy a tuxedo.
- 18:22SPEAKER_02: So what watch are you wearing?
- 18:23SPEAKER_00: Okay, I don't know.
- 18:24SPEAKER_00: What watch can you give me?
- 18:26SPEAKER_02: What would you like?
- 18:27SPEAKER_02: It'd be like the Oscars, where you just wear somebody's tooth.
- 18:30SPEAKER_00: Hello, everybody.
- 18:31SPEAKER_00: Like, why is he doing all the things?
- 18:32SPEAKER_00: All dressing for the community.
- 18:34SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 18:35SPEAKER_00: That would be an interesting video, actually.
- 18:37SPEAKER_00: We could do that.
- 18:37SPEAKER_00: And he gets ready at the DeWitt store to go to his doing the cuff list.
- 18:41SPEAKER_00: Dave's not allowed to participate, though.
- 18:44SPEAKER_02: DJ can.
- 18:47SPEAKER_03: He'd just be at the bar the whole time.
- 18:49SPEAKER_00: Uh I I have stories I can share.
- 18:51SPEAKER_03: Oh, I don't know if we wanted up to the colour.
- 18:53SPEAKER_00: And uh many times I slept.
- 18:55SPEAKER_00: Okay, so featured brands.
- 18:57SPEAKER_00: The sale includes some of the top brands Neckers can't even mention.
- 19:01SPEAKER_00: It's super secret.
- 19:02SPEAKER_00: Again, both locations will be closed Wednesday, October 21st to prepare for the sale.
- 19:10SPEAKER_00: And that is really kind of from a staff perspective, all hands on deck.
- 19:13SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 19:13SPEAKER_00: Because you guys put out a ton of things.
- 19:18SPEAKER_00: And I've witnessed the day of, and then the next day, and the inventory is completely changed out, and it's it's really cool to watch.
- 19:25SPEAKER_02: So you got to get there.
- 19:26SPEAKER_02: You got to get there and yes, it moves quick.
- 19:28SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 19:29SPEAKER_03: It moves quick.
- 19:30SPEAKER_00: So now's the time.
- 19:32SPEAKER_00: October.
- 19:33SPEAKER_00: A lot of people get engaged this time of year.
- 19:35SPEAKER_00: You got the the emotional heart strings are being plucked because of the holidays.
- 19:39SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 19:40SPEAKER_00: You know, you have a significant other that's dropping the hints.
- 19:43SPEAKER_00: Oh, what would be good for a Christmas present?
- 19:45SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 19:46SPEAKER_00: Maybe an engagement ring.
- 19:48SPEAKER_00: You know, and you're thinking that you're just gonna go out and buy like a customized Christmas ball for the tree that you made of yourself out of paper mache and a and a magic mark.
- 19:55SPEAKER_03: Do that, just put a ring in.
- 19:58SPEAKER_02: Just put a ring in you.
- 19:59SPEAKER_02: Nothing is like, you know, I I wouldn't know, but nothing is like expecting to get that and not I had a friend that happened too.
- 20:08SPEAKER_02: She expected it and didn't get it and was like crushed.
- 20:11SPEAKER_02: So don't do that.
- 20:12SPEAKER_00: But did she was there hints dropped that she was getting engaged to?
- 20:16SPEAKER_02: Outright.
- 20:17SPEAKER_02: No hints.
- 20:18SPEAKER_00: Well, then that's his fault.
- 20:19SPEAKER_03: He dropped the ball on that.
- 20:20SPEAKER_03: That's right.
- 20:21SPEAKER_03: So what's the thing?
- 20:22SPEAKER_03: So then he had to buy a doghouse gift and the engagement ring.
- 20:25SPEAKER_03: So it was 10 times more.
- 20:26SPEAKER_00: Double trouble.
- 20:27SPEAKER_00: I should be having some of those.
- 20:28SPEAKER_00: So Savannah, as we wrap up the episode here, what is the weirdest thing you've ever seen somebody put a ring in as like a surprise?
- 20:35SPEAKER_00: Oh yeah.
- 20:36SPEAKER_03: Oh my gosh.
- 20:37SPEAKER_00: Like that's because that's a thing, right?
- 20:39SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 20:39SPEAKER_00: But knowing me, like my ADHD, I would forget where the hell I put it, and it would be like in a in like a nutshell somewhere.
- 20:48SPEAKER_00: You know, I don't know what I would do with it.
- 20:50SPEAKER_03: That's yeah, that's interesting.
- 20:52SPEAKER_03: I'm not quite sure.
- 20:54SPEAKER_03: Um, I feel like anytime though somebody puts it in food, that just stresses me out.
- 21:00SPEAKER_03: Or like in the bottom of a champagne glass.
- 21:02SPEAKER_03: Like I what if you consume it?
- 21:04SPEAKER_03: Exactly.
- 21:05SPEAKER_03: You know what happens then.
- 21:07SPEAKER_00: Well, give us 12 to 24 hours and I'll propose to you.
- 21:11SPEAKER_03: Yeah, so don't do that, you know.
- 21:13SPEAKER_00: Wow.
- 21:14SPEAKER_00: People try to get creative though.
- 21:15SPEAKER_00: They do.
- 21:16SPEAKER_00: What I think's incredibly cute these days is the homecoming requests.
- 21:20SPEAKER_00: Like you can't just be like, hey, homecoming, you, me, we're going.
- 21:25SPEAKER_00: You have to make a sign now.
- 21:26SPEAKER_00: It has to have a little funky saying on it.
- 21:29SPEAKER_03: It's perfect.
- 21:30SPEAKER_03: We're teaching them young, you know.
- 21:33SPEAKER_03: Do something spectacular, to go out of your way.
- 21:35SPEAKER_02: Have you heard of any like really creative proposals?
- 21:38SPEAKER_03: You know, we have had a lot, and I'm trying to think of all of them, but um, we've had like scavenger hunts before um somebody just got engaged on Alaskan cruise, which was beautiful.
- 21:50SPEAKER_03: Had no idea, but the amount of detail that they went through to make sure this proposal went according to plan with a photographer from Alaska.
- 22:00SPEAKER_03: Mean it was intense.
- 22:01SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 22:01SPEAKER_03: And I I mean they had a GPS coordinate of where to meet.
- 22:04SPEAKER_03: Like you clearly don't know of any destiny a GPS coordinate, and it all worked out according to plan.
- 22:09SPEAKER_03: And it was beautiful.
- 22:10SPEAKER_00: Mine would be a flat boat out in the pits in the Mississippi.
- 22:14SPEAKER_00: That's what I would do.
- 22:15SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 22:16SPEAKER_00: Like a little John boat that stinks.
- 22:19SPEAKER_00: Diesel.
- 22:21SPEAKER_02: How romantic.
- 22:23SPEAKER_00: People far smarter than me can think of these things.
- 22:26SPEAKER_00: But again, Necker's Jewelers, DeWitt location and Davenport, October 23rd, 24th.
- 22:33SPEAKER_00: Everything under the glass is half off.
- 22:35SPEAKER_00: Check it out.
- 22:36SPEAKER_00: You're not going to be disappointed.
- 22:38SPEAKER_00: They are closing Wednesday, October 21st, though, to prepare for the sale.
- 22:42SPEAKER_00: So don't go on that day.
- 22:44SPEAKER_00: If you have any questions, you can visit them online at Neckersjewers.com.
- 22:48SPEAKER_00: And remember, the entire month of October is their gift of giving program.
- 22:53SPEAKER_00: A portion of all proceeds will go to support GG's Playhouse and the Quad Cities.
- 22:58SPEAKER_00: Very cool.
- 22:58SPEAKER_00: Savannah, is there anything else you want us to know about Necker's Jewelers?
- 23:03SPEAKER_03: Just stay tuned to all of our social media pages because there's so much.
- 23:07SPEAKER_03: And you're on all the socials.

- 23:11SPEAKER_03: We have so much fun stuff coming up for November.
- 23:14SPEAKER_03: Black Friday deals I'm working on now.

- 23:19SPEAKER_03: So lots of stuff.
- 23:21SPEAKER_03: Keep your eyes peeled.
- 23:22SPEAKER_00: Nice.
- 23:22SPEAKER_00: How was uh what was your proposal like?
- 23:24SPEAKER_00: Mine is it on a hockey rink?
- 23:26SPEAKER_00: Please tell me.
- 23:27SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 23:28SPEAKER_03: No, thank God.
- 23:29SPEAKER_03: I was crying.
- 23:30SPEAKER_03: I, you know what's funny is I've been a performer my entire life.
- 23:34SPEAKER_03: Um, I twirled baton, loved those big crowds.
- 23:37SPEAKER_03: When it came to my proposal, I did not want any eyes on me.
- 23:41SPEAKER_01: No.
- 23:42SPEAKER_03: So we had dinner at my favorite restaurant, Duck City in Davenport.
- 23:48SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 23:49SPEAKER_00: Who's the head chef there?
- 23:50SPEAKER_03: Jeremy.
- 23:51SPEAKER_03: I love that guy.
- 23:52SPEAKER_03: Yes, he is hilarious.
- 23:54SPEAKER_00: He's so funny.
- 23:54SPEAKER_00: I love the lobster bisque is the best.
- 23:58SPEAKER_03: Incredible.
- 23:59SPEAKER_03: And there's always a show.
- 24:00SPEAKER_03: You know, he always puts on a show the second you walk in the door.
- 24:02SPEAKER_00: So yeah, and I mean, I think he generally, like genuinely knows a lot of people.
- 24:07SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 24:08SPEAKER_00: Um, a man about town, but no matter who you are, you walk in there, he treats you like a celebrity.
- 24:13SPEAKER_00: I love that, right?
- 24:14SPEAKER_03: Yeah, so yeah, we had dinner there, proposal at home, which was perfect.
- 24:18SPEAKER_03: My dog, who I was who I was and still am very obsessed with.
- 24:22SPEAKER_03: That's that's I remember you saying last time.
- 24:25SPEAKER_00: Yes, even though you have a real human child.
- 24:27SPEAKER_03: A real human child now.
- 24:29SPEAKER_03: But Leo was very much a part of the engagement.
- 24:31SPEAKER_03: He had a t-shirt on and everything, and yeah, it was it was perfect.
- 24:34SPEAKER_03: It was the way I would have wanted it to be done.
- 24:36SPEAKER_03: We ended up getting actually married in the upstairs part of Duck City during COVID.
- 24:40SPEAKER_03: All right.
- 24:40SPEAKER_03: So yeah, that was it was perfect.
- 24:43SPEAKER_00: See, hockey players aren't just dumb jocks.
- 24:47SPEAKER_00: Yeah, he had all of his teeth, everything's good.
- 24:50SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 24:52SPEAKER_01: It worked exactly.
- 24:53SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it worked.
- 24:53SPEAKER_00: They got married.
- 24:54SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's cool.
- 24:55SPEAKER_00: So I I wish you guys the best of luck on your sale.

- 25:14SPEAKER_00: Jenny, yes, are you going to buy stuff?
- 25:17SPEAKER_00: Wait, no.
- 25:19SPEAKER_00: Are you sending your significant other to buy anything?
- 25:21SPEAKER_02: I I don't know if I should be hinting, like you said, or like just take that credit card.
- 25:28SPEAKER_03: Just take that credit card and come swipe it.
- 25:30SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 25:30SPEAKER_00: Or financing available at Necker Jewelers.
- 25:34SPEAKER_03: That's something we talk about.
- 25:36SPEAKER_03: Tell us about it.
- 25:37SPEAKER_03: 12 month interest-free financing.
- 25:38SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 25:39SPEAKER_00: 12 month interest-free.
- 25:41SPEAKER_00: It's not even you're gonna forget about it by the time you have to pay any interest.
- 25:44SPEAKER_00: It's gonna be ink!
- 25:45SPEAKER_02: Don't do that.
- 25:46SPEAKER_02: So I took advantage of that.
- 25:47SPEAKER_00: Paid that bad boy off in 12 months, yeah.
- 25:49SPEAKER_02: Nice.
- 25:50SPEAKER_02: No, I mean, don't forget about your payments.
- 25:52SPEAKER_02: Just yeah, get in there and do it.
- 25:53SPEAKER_02: But that's a great feature.
- 25:55SPEAKER_02: I mean, that's a great benefit to go in there and do that.
- 25:57SPEAKER_02: Very nice.
- 25:58SPEAKER_00: Yep.
- 25:58SPEAKER_00: Now's time.

- 26:51SPEAKER_02: King behavior.
- 26:52SPEAKER_00: Yeah, well, you know, quiet confidence.
- 26:55SPEAKER_00: And then I just go home at night and stress out.
- 26:57unknown: Cry.
- 26:58SPEAKER_00: I just cry myself to sleep, listening to that song from it's a song from Dirty Dancing.
- 27:03SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 27:04SPEAKER_00: I don't know what it is.
- 27:05SPEAKER_00: It's the one that uh that Patrick Swayze sings.
- 27:08SPEAKER_02: What is it?
- 27:09SPEAKER_02: I've never seen that.
- 27:10SPEAKER_00: You've never seen Dirty Dancing?
- 27:12SPEAKER_02: No, I've never seen Dirty Dancing.
- 27:14SPEAKER_02: Are you serious?
- 27:15SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 27:16SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh.
- 27:17SPEAKER_02: I'm not a romance person.
- 27:18SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 27:19SPEAKER_00: I've seen Rambo 12 times.
- 27:21SPEAKER_00: First blood, but never dirty dancing.
