- 2:33Speaker 1: this episode, any takeaways.
- 2:36Speaker 2: Girl, why is Mary crying over her fear of public speaking, Like, look,
- 2:41Speaker 2: I don't like public speaking either. I get nervous. My
- 2:44Speaker 2: hands are sweaty. Yeah, my arms are weak, palm spaghetti
- 2:48Speaker 2: Like literally, I get it. But also, calm down. You're
- 2:54Speaker 2: literally on a national TV show and you're like afraid
- 2:58Speaker 2: of speaking in front of these pooty as venture capitalists.
- 3:03Speaker 2: I can't. I don't know. I'm just like Mary, you
- 3:05Speaker 2: need to calm down.
- 3:06Speaker 1: Yeah, get your shit together for reals. My overarching sentiment
- 3:12Speaker 1: after watching this true gem of an episode. I watched
- 3:15Speaker 1: it twice back to back. Girl is that? And I know,
- 3:19Speaker 1: I know I've said this before, so this is not
- 3:20Speaker 1: gonna be a kl suprise for people. But like, these
- 3:24Speaker 1: Browns are dumb, Oh my god, so dumb. These Browns
- 3:27Speaker 1: are not smart. Even though like they're standing in front
- 3:31Speaker 1: of these dubious venture capitalists for you know, this investing firm.
- 3:37Speaker 1: They're like, they're so bad. And I was rooting for
- 3:41Speaker 1: my girl Janelle, like because she's in charge of the
- 3:45Speaker 1: accounts and the numbers, but like, even when she was
- 3:48Speaker 1: standing in front of the investors, she made like such
- 3:50Speaker 1: a critical verbal error. I was cringing. I was cringing
- 3:54Speaker 1: you came in. My husband was sitting there on the
- 3:57Speaker 1: recliner asleep, right, So I was watching the second time
- 4:00Speaker 1: I'm with him sleeping there, and I just kept exclaiming, like,
- 4:02Speaker 1: oh my god, I cannot believe they're saying this. He
- 4:05Speaker 1: kept waking up. He's like, is everything okay. I'm like, no,
- 4:08Speaker 1: it's not okay. These Mormons are tripping. So yeah, it
- 4:13Speaker 1: was great.
- 4:14Speaker 2: It's so good this episode I've been waiting to get
- 4:17Speaker 2: to and it's just like so good. Rewatching it again
- 4:19Speaker 2: because I'm like, man, you guys are idiots, like total idiots.
- 4:24Speaker 1: What is that? Is it Dunning Krueger where people think
- 4:29Speaker 1: they're so much smarter than they are and then they
- 4:32Speaker 1: display that and they display how dumb they are by
- 4:35Speaker 1: trying to pretend that they're smart. I don't they think
- 4:38Speaker 1: they're smart. I think Cody thinks he's such a genius.
- 4:41Speaker 1: Oh death. And when he said in this episode, like
- 4:43Speaker 1: for the last four years, we've been killing it, like
- 4:46Speaker 1: we've had so many blessings and opportunities, I mean like
- 4:50Speaker 1: we've got the Midas touch. Yeah, I'm like, oh my god,
- 4:52Speaker 1: you believe you truly believe that you're smart, entrepreneurial, and
- 4:58Speaker 1: some kind of a businessman. I mean, ringe.
- 5:01Speaker 2: Absolutely ringe talk about huffing your own farts. Yep, him
- 5:05Speaker 2: and Robin both.
- 5:06Speaker 1: Yes, they love it. Yes, So without further ado, let's
- 5:10Speaker 1: get into season seven, episode three two two. We're only
- 5:15Speaker 1: on episode two. I'm having so much fun.
- 5:18Speaker 2: Entitled Polygamists and the Shark Tank and Girl. They might
- 5:23Speaker 2: as well have been Goldfish just getting.
- 5:26Speaker 1: Yeah, got these terrible man so good.
- 5:29Speaker 2: But we start off the episode with like a preparation.
- 5:33Speaker 2: It's twenty days before their big shark tank pitch in
- 5:37Speaker 2: front of these venture capitalists at this booty ass investment firm,
- 5:43Speaker 2: and the family is meeting at Mary's house to kind
- 5:47Speaker 2: of get their shit together because they don't have it
- 5:50Speaker 2: together at all, Like they don't even have a real
- 5:54Speaker 2: genuine business or any kind of plan. They don't even
- 5:57Speaker 2: have like a poster board made up or anything. They're
- 6:01Speaker 2: trying to get it together because they really need to
- 6:03Speaker 2: beg these people for many.
- 6:04Speaker 1: Right, And in the last episode they met with their
- 6:07Speaker 1: friend Stan, who told them, like, what the fuck is this?
- 6:13Speaker 1: Like you are supposed to come correct to this meeting
- 6:16Speaker 1: with your presentation and your business plan, and all of
- 6:18Speaker 1: your visuals and like, you've got nothing. You just came
- 6:21Speaker 1: here for me to tell you how to run a business,
- 6:23Speaker 1: Like that's not how it works. And so they're having
- 6:26Speaker 1: this emergency meeting and they're like, oh my god, guys,
- 6:28Speaker 1: we've got twenty days and the first thing we need
- 6:30Speaker 1: to do is figure out what our five year goal is.
- 6:33Speaker 1: You know, I'm like, what you guys don't know what
- 6:35Speaker 1: your goals are for this business? What are we doing?
- 6:38Speaker 2: They're not doing jack shit because nobody's been invested in
- 6:42Speaker 2: this business, not even Robin's invested in it. All she's
- 6:45Speaker 2: doing is scribble in her stuff and her little sketch books.
- 6:47Speaker 1: Well, but she says she's working so hard.
- 6:50Speaker 2: Okay, if you hoo hard, I can't have a baby.
- 6:54Speaker 2: If you you would have more to your business than
- 6:58Speaker 2: whatever the fuck this shit is. But they don't have anything,
- 7:00Speaker 2: they don't have a plan, They can't even really work together.
- 7:03Speaker 2: And like in this meeting at Mary's house, they're kind
- 7:06Speaker 2: of talking about that, like we kind of have to
- 7:08Speaker 2: figure out a way to make it seem like we're
- 7:11Speaker 2: a team and make it seem like we're a cohesive
- 7:15Speaker 2: business put together. But they're not, and that's the that's
- 7:19Speaker 2: the biggest problem, that's really the theme of this episode.
- 7:21Speaker 1: Yes, and that's.
- 7:22Speaker 2: Why they're so stupid because they have nothing put together.
- 7:26Speaker 2: They don't have a plan. They don't even have a
- 7:28Speaker 2: five year plan. But they don't have a plan for
- 7:29Speaker 2: their business or how to make money or how to
- 7:32Speaker 2: change anything. They just think, like you had mentioned, they
- 7:36Speaker 2: have the Midas touch and that whatever they touch will
- 7:38Speaker 2: turn to gold and it'll work out.
- 7:41Speaker 1: And this is what happens when you make stupid people famous.
- 7:44Speaker 2: Yep.
- 7:45Speaker 1: And then you continue to watch them because it's like
- 7:48Speaker 1: a car crash and you're like, oh my god, are
- 7:50Speaker 1: they really doing this? And so like when we get
- 7:52Speaker 1: to the part where they're in front of the investors
- 7:54Speaker 1: and they're talking about the hits on their website, and
- 7:58Speaker 1: I was stunned with how many they were getting. We'll
- 8:00Speaker 1: get there, but like they're not making the connection that
- 8:03Speaker 1: people are just looking at the car crash. We're like
- 8:05Speaker 1: literally just visiting your site to see your stupid designs
- 8:08Speaker 1: and make fun of you. They don't understand. They actually
- 8:11Speaker 1: think that people admire them as leaders and wives.
- 8:15Speaker 2: And like we have said this before on many episodes
- 8:18Speaker 2: before It's like you would have gotten people to pay
- 8:21Speaker 2: you money for stupid shit like T shirts and stickers
- 8:24Speaker 2: and coffee mugs and even a book or whatever if
- 8:28Speaker 2: you just focused on that, But no, you wanted to
- 8:30Speaker 2: focus on this shitty jewelry that Robin designed, and you
- 8:34Speaker 2: want to sell it for two hundred bucks a pop
- 8:36Speaker 2: in like the early twenty ten's like recovering after two
- 8:40Speaker 2: thousand and eight, where people can't really afford this shit.
- 8:42Speaker 2: But you think people are going to just drop two
- 8:44Speaker 2: hundred bucks on ballsack necklaces and they think they're.
- 8:47Speaker 1: Going to be bringing in three point three million by
- 8:50Speaker 1: twenty sixteen. And I think they're in twenty fourteen slash
- 8:53Speaker 1: twenty fifteen at this time in se based on what
- 8:56Speaker 1: I'm getting ahead of myself. So yes, they have the meeting,
- 8:59Speaker 1: and so they leave that meeting and they all agree, Okay, well,
- 9:02Speaker 1: we're going to try and think about what I want
- 9:04Speaker 1: to see, what is my personal individual dream for this
- 9:07Speaker 1: business over the next five years, And then they'll have
- 9:10Speaker 1: another meeting. Well, they'll get back together, discuss everybody's dreams
- 9:15Speaker 1: and then try to bring that into one dream. They're
- 9:17Speaker 1: so there's so dune, that's not how you do business.
- 9:21Speaker 2: No, it is not, and they're going to flounder and
- 9:24Speaker 2: fail and I can't wait to get to that point
- 9:26Speaker 2: me too. We shift gears after this little stupid business
- 9:30Speaker 2: meeting and we have Mary taking Robin to lunch to
- 9:33Speaker 2: talk to her again about their previous conversation from last
- 9:36Speaker 2: episode about Mary going back to college and how Robin
- 9:41Speaker 2: was not really happy about that.
- 9:42Speaker 1: So they, you think, they go to lunch.
- 9:45Speaker 2: Together and they talk more about it, and this is
- 9:48Speaker 2: where Robin elaborates and says she feels like she's being
- 9:52Speaker 2: ditched by Mary, and she says she's supportive, but she
- 9:56Speaker 2: still wants Mary to give her, like one a commitment,
- 10:01Speaker 2: which Mary can't give her because Mary wants to go
- 10:03Speaker 2: back to school for some stupid reason.
- 10:05Speaker 1: Yeah, and I'm not sure what the motivation really is
- 10:08Speaker 1: for Mary. And Robin actually addresses this, like at the
- 10:11Speaker 1: end of this particular segment, She's like, like, I get
- 10:14Speaker 1: her general desire, but why does she need to go
- 10:17Speaker 1: back to college right now? And I do think that's
- 10:20Speaker 1: an important question. Yeah, like that, I wish they would
- 10:23Speaker 1: take a little bit deeper into the conversation because there's
- 10:27Speaker 1: a reason that Mary is looking for something, some sort
- 10:30Speaker 1: of passion in her life is because she is devoid
- 10:34Speaker 1: of passion in her marriage to Cody. There's a reason
- 10:37Speaker 1: she wants to attend like a university and sit with
- 10:40Speaker 1: a bunch of people and learn something new because she's
- 10:43Speaker 1: got no people around her now, she's got no group,
- 10:45Speaker 1: she's got no tribe. That's why. But Robin doesn't really care.
- 10:49Speaker 1: She's not going to sit there with that question. She's
- 10:52Speaker 1: just offended that Mary has a need outside of Robin's vision,
- 10:58Speaker 1: which is for my sister wife closet. And she even
- 11:01Speaker 1: says like, I'm just afraid Mary's going to go to college,
- 11:05Speaker 1: and then is she going to leave my sister wife's closet. Furthermore,
- 11:09Speaker 1: is she going to maybe want to leave the family? Yeah?
- 11:12Speaker 1: Is she going to want to leave me? Yikes? Me, me, me,
- 11:15Speaker 1: me me.
- 11:16Speaker 2: Yep, That's what it really is, and that's the problem.
- 11:19Speaker 2: And like it's so weird to me that Robin's the.
- 11:22Speaker 1: One that's expressing these concerns when.
- 11:24Speaker 2: It's like it should be Cody, if Cody actually cared
- 11:27Speaker 2: and does his relationship with Mary, like it should be
- 11:29Speaker 2: Cody being like, well, but I'm worried that you're gonna
- 11:32Speaker 2: put more attention on school and this dumb degree that
- 11:35Speaker 2: you're gonna get instead of our family and our marriage
- 11:38Speaker 2: and our life together. But no, it's Robin and she's
- 11:41Speaker 2: saying all that, like she's worried about, you know, her
- 11:44Speaker 2: taking her time away from the family, but it's really
- 11:47Speaker 2: just about my sister wife's closet. And then I thought
- 11:49Speaker 2: that this whole conversation and even the one from last week,
- 11:52Speaker 2: just highlights how Mary is so dependent on like other people,
- 11:58Speaker 2: Like she's dependent on Robin and her going back to school,
- 12:01Speaker 2: and like Robin's approval of Mary finding her dream. And
- 12:05Speaker 2: I'm like, why do you care what Robin thinks?
- 12:08Speaker 1: Because Robin has the power. I mean the amount of
- 12:11Speaker 1: times in this episode that various people in this family said, like,
- 12:15Speaker 1: our issue is the personal problems we have in the
- 12:19Speaker 1: family and whether those are going to bleed into business,
- 12:22Speaker 1: like Robin says that Cody says that Christine acknowledges it.
- 12:26Speaker 1: So something is happening right now in this year, the
- 12:29Speaker 1: first year of the cul de Sac, that is for
- 12:32Speaker 1: whatever reason, really affecting everybody and you can sense it,
- 12:35Speaker 1: you can feel it. Yeah, absolutely, And so what I
- 12:38Speaker 1: think Robin is looking for is an ally. She senses
- 12:42Speaker 1: that the one person who had her back is starting
- 12:45Speaker 1: to wobble a little bit. And I think what Mary
- 12:49Speaker 1: wants in terms of approval is she wants to sidle
- 12:52Speaker 1: up next to the power person in this family, which
- 12:56Speaker 1: has become Robin, which is causing all kinds of problems.
- 12:59Speaker 1: It's not Janelle's dream. My sister wife's closet is not
- 13:03Speaker 1: Janelle's dream. It's not Christine's dream. She's just doing it
- 13:06Speaker 1: so that she can get back in good graces with Cody.
- 13:08Speaker 1: It's not even Cody's dream. No, only does this complain
- 13:12Speaker 1: about it, it's all for Robin because she's the one
- 13:15Speaker 1: in the power position.
- 13:16Speaker 2: That's a great point. But this whole conversation was just cringe.
- 13:20Speaker 2: And Robin is super manipulative here because again, like you said,
- 13:24Speaker 2: Mary's her only ally, and Mary's the only one that's
- 13:26Speaker 2: doing anything yep. And so Robin is panicking because she's like, well,
- 13:32Speaker 2: my business is going to fail because she's not putting
- 13:35Speaker 2: any effort and nobody else's because nobody gives a shit, right,
- 13:38Speaker 2: And then we have everybody going to family therapy with Nancy, Yes,
- 13:43Speaker 2: because they want to work on their communication with the
- 13:47Speaker 2: business because they are worried about their personal issues affecting it,
- 13:52Speaker 2: and they're worried that they're not going to be as
- 13:54Speaker 2: successful if they let their personal bullshit get in the
- 13:58Speaker 2: way of the business.
- 13:59Speaker 1: But this, the whole.
- 14:01Speaker 2: Therapy session was crazy because I think we start off
- 14:06Speaker 2: with like talking about how they don't want a wife
- 14:09Speaker 2: to be in charge of the business.
- 14:12Speaker 1: Right they come to the session they think to improve
- 14:15Speaker 1: upon their communications, and also I think they're trying to
- 14:18Speaker 1: identify where everybody's lane is. Yeah, like what is Mary
- 14:22Speaker 1: going to be in charge of? What is Christine get
- 14:24Speaker 1: to be in charge of? So there's been some communication
- 14:26Speaker 1: about that, but they're trying to like bring some clarity
- 14:29Speaker 1: into it. And at some point maybe Nancy asks the
- 14:33Speaker 1: question like, well, Cody, you know, are you comfortable having
- 14:36Speaker 1: the final decision or however she phrased it, and good
- 14:39Speaker 1: He's like, absolutely not, because I don't have the final decision.
- 14:42Speaker 1: I actually have no power in this situation, like the
- 14:47Speaker 1: women make all the decisions.
- 14:48Speaker 2: Yikes. And this is where he does his little emotional vomit, Yeah,
- 14:53Speaker 2: where he just gets really angry and kind of aggressive
- 14:56Speaker 2: in his speech, where He's just like, I don't feel
- 14:58Speaker 2: the power, like I have power to make any decisions.
- 15:01Speaker 2: I feel like I don't have the power to lead
- 15:03Speaker 2: or anything. And then you have like this weird little
- 15:05Speaker 2: talking head with Robin where she's like, yeah, like, none
- 15:09Speaker 2: of the wives should be in charge of the business.
- 15:10Speaker 2: I really want it to be Cody. I really want
- 15:12Speaker 2: Cody to be the one in charge. And then we
- 15:14Speaker 2: get back to therapy and Cody's just spewing all this
- 15:18Speaker 2: bullshit like he's obviously angry because he feels emasculated, or
- 15:22Speaker 2: maybe Robin is convincing him that he is emasculated by
- 15:25Speaker 2: the rest of the wives and he wants to have power.
- 15:28Speaker 2: And then Nancy's like, well, well, then would what would
- 15:31Speaker 2: it look like if you were the CEO. Would you
- 15:34Speaker 2: still take into consideration like everybody else's feelings And he's like, well, yeah,
- 15:38Speaker 2: nothing would really change. I would still want to have
- 15:41Speaker 2: everybody's input. And so it's like, Okay, you are kind
- 15:44Speaker 2: of in charge.
- 15:45Speaker 1: But he is making it sound like he would prefer
- 15:49Speaker 1: if it were not as collaborative with the other wives.
- 15:52Speaker 1: I don't think that applies to Robin though. Now I
- 15:55Speaker 1: think he is fine to be collaborative with Robin. And
- 15:58Speaker 1: in fact, when Nancy asks Cody, well, who is the
- 16:01Speaker 1: CFO of my sister wife's closet, he very quickly says, well,
- 16:06Speaker 1: obviously it's Robin, And to the camera he says, you know,
- 16:09Speaker 1: she's the one who does the accounts receivable, She's the
- 16:11Speaker 1: one who makes all the payments. And as soon as
- 16:14Speaker 1: he says that, you can see Janelle get her back up,
- 16:16Speaker 1: and she even seemed kind of close to tears.
- 16:19Speaker 2: I thought she was crying.
- 16:21Speaker 1: I don't know, Well, she was just like, well, where
- 16:22Speaker 1: does that leave me?
- 16:23Speaker 2: Then?
- 16:24Speaker 1: Like I'm the one who's up until midnight looking at
- 16:26Speaker 1: the numbers trying to reconcile everything, and so does that
- 16:30Speaker 1: mean I'm not the finance person because Robin's going to
- 16:33Speaker 1: be the CFO? Like, am I just a floater in
- 16:36Speaker 1: this business? And at that point I kind of paused,
- 16:40Speaker 1: because Janelle, haven't you said a couple of times that
- 16:44Speaker 1: you don't really want to be a part of this business.
- 16:47Speaker 1: Haven't you said you're not interested, it's not your jam.
- 16:49Speaker 1: You want to focus on real estate, And so it
- 16:52Speaker 1: just seemed strange to me that she had such an
- 16:54Speaker 1: emotional reaction to Cody saying that Robin was the CFO.
- 16:59Speaker 2: Yeah, I thought that too, but I wondered where it
- 17:02Speaker 2: was rooted in. I wondered if it was rooted in
- 17:05Speaker 2: like Janelle feeling like she doesn't really have a role
- 17:07Speaker 2: in the family, like she is just the finance person
- 17:11Speaker 2: in the family, and so to have it be reflected
- 17:14Speaker 2: in the business as you're not even the finance role
- 17:17Speaker 2: in the business, and that's all Janelle has been doing.
- 17:19Speaker 1: According to her.
- 17:21Speaker 2: I felt like it was valid for her to feel
- 17:24Speaker 2: invalidated by that by Cody and Cody not really recognizing
- 17:28Speaker 2: the work that Janelle does in the business and also
- 17:31Speaker 2: in the family because if she has been like in
- 17:34Speaker 2: season nineteen she says she's been the one in charge
- 17:36Speaker 2: of all the finances, she's been the family accountant, like,
- 17:39Speaker 2: you know, filing everything together, Cody doesn't recognize that she
- 17:42Speaker 2: does all of that hard work and if she's staying
- 17:45Speaker 2: up all night for my sister wives closet. But oh,
- 17:47Speaker 2: but Robin's in charge of the accounts receivable, give me
- 17:51Speaker 2: a fucking break.
- 17:52Speaker 1: Yeah, it was. It was insulting. Yes, I think it
- 17:55Speaker 1: was invalidating.
- 17:56Speaker 2: I agree, And this whole therapy session just sheds light
- 17:59Speaker 2: about how sheds light onto the fact that nobody in
- 18:02Speaker 2: this family is on the same page, Like literally nobody
- 18:05Speaker 2: except for Cody and Robin. Everybody else is like wondering
- 18:08Speaker 2: what their place is and wondering what their purpose is
- 18:12Speaker 2: in my sister Wif's closet, but also in Cody's life
- 18:15Speaker 2: and in the family, and it's just really dysfunctional and crazy.
- 18:20Speaker 2: I didn't think that it was happening this early in
- 18:23Speaker 2: the seasons. I thought it was like later, but we're
- 18:26Speaker 2: like only on season seven.
- 18:27Speaker 1: Yeah, and we're seeing happening.
- 18:29Speaker 2: Yikes, man, crazy. And then we have another meeting with
- 18:35Speaker 2: the family. It's seven days to their big Shark Tank pitch,
- 18:39Speaker 2: and so Cody's got some new info or something that
- 18:41Speaker 2: he wants to gather everybody up around. And apparently everybody's
- 18:46Speaker 2: been you know, fine tuning their roles for their big
- 18:50Speaker 2: pitch and you know, trying to ride out what they're
- 18:52Speaker 2: going to say, and so they gather up together to
- 18:55Speaker 2: kind of make sure they're all thinking the same thing.
- 19:01Speaker 2: Cody is the one that says, the investors want to
- 19:03Speaker 2: know how much money.
- 19:04Speaker 1: Yeah, this is the new information he's bringing to this meeting,
- 19:08Speaker 1: and the new information is that the investors, apparently guys, newsflash,
- 19:12Speaker 1: they're going to want to know how much money we
- 19:14Speaker 1: are asking for. They're going to want to know what
- 19:17Speaker 1: our hopes and dreams and our vision for the businesses,
- 19:20Speaker 1: and then they're going to want to know when we're
- 19:21Speaker 1: going to be able to pay them back. Dude, Like,
- 19:23Speaker 1: how did you not know that already? And why didn't
- 19:26Speaker 1: you take that information into the preliminary meeting with Stan?
- 19:29Speaker 1: Like that is what Stan was expecting you to know
- 19:32Speaker 1: way back in the day. So like, hot off the presses,
- 19:35Speaker 1: We've got to figure this out. We only have seven days.
- 19:38Speaker 1: And then we get into the conversation about like how
- 19:41Speaker 1: the actual pitch is going to go, and Cody's like, well,
- 19:44Speaker 1: I'll take the helm and presenting like what our business is,
- 19:48Speaker 1: and then Christine you'll speak about marketing, and Janelle you
- 19:52Speaker 1: can run the numbers, and Mary you can talk about
- 19:56Speaker 1: customer service. And this is the scene where Mary is.
- 19:59Speaker 2: Just like I have to speak in front of.
- 20:03Speaker 1: These whole face falls and she's got like her hairline
- 20:07Speaker 1: that turns red and her neck turns red, like she's
- 20:09Speaker 1: so upset. In the moment, She's like, wait a minute.
- 20:12Speaker 1: Nobody told me that I was going to have to speak,
- 20:15Speaker 1: It would be would have been great if I got
- 20:16Speaker 1: some notice. And Robin's like, well, you've got a week's notice,
- 20:20Speaker 1: so figure it out. And She's like, well, I'm just
- 20:22Speaker 1: not comfortable with public speaking. I have a really hard time,
- 20:26Speaker 1: which I can totally understand. Sure, I also have a
- 20:29Speaker 1: fear of public speaking, which is why I enrolled myself
- 20:33Speaker 1: in toast Masters and learned how to do it and
- 20:35Speaker 1: then put myself in situations where I did do it.
- 20:38Speaker 1: But none of them are actually interested in self improvement
- 20:41Speaker 1: in that way. No, So she's just immediately in a
- 20:45Speaker 1: fear response and doesn't know what she's going to say.
- 20:48Speaker 2: No, And it's like I get that Mary wanted to
- 20:50Speaker 2: be like a background character in my sister rights closet, Like, yeah,
- 20:54Speaker 2: let me take care of shipping, let me take care
- 20:56Speaker 2: of all of the back office bullshit. I don't want
- 20:58Speaker 2: to be like a front man so sides for you know,
- 21:01Speaker 2: besides for the photos and stuff. So like I get it,
- 21:04Speaker 2: But also I don't know what you expected when you
- 21:06Speaker 2: guys are preparing for this big pitch. Were you just
- 21:09Speaker 2: going to stand there in the corner and.
- 21:10Speaker 1: I don't know, like just sit at the table with
- 21:12Speaker 1: the rest of the investors while your entire family talks
- 21:15Speaker 1: about your business. I mean, like did you think it through?
- 21:17Speaker 2: I mean that to me is way more awkward than
- 21:20Speaker 2: just saying like a two minute spiel and talking about
- 21:23Speaker 2: customer service and like maybe I don't know, sharing some
- 21:26Speaker 2: reviews that you got if you got any, or like
- 21:28Speaker 2: faking some reviews. That's all you have to do well.
- 21:31Speaker 1: And I'm like, who is advising them at this point
- 21:33Speaker 1: because it seems to me like they're trying to create
- 21:36Speaker 1: two minutes in front of the investors each, so two
- 21:39Speaker 1: minutes each where they're going to describe their role, what
- 21:42Speaker 1: their department is, and what they do. But like all
- 21:44Speaker 1: they're doing is spouting platitudes like I really believe in
- 21:49Speaker 1: this because I believe in women and I love women,
- 21:52Speaker 1: and I love delivering services on time? Okay, but how yeah,
- 21:56Speaker 1: like what are your shipping processes? Like what's happening with
- 21:59Speaker 1: your website and what is your conversion rate which Janelle
- 22:01Speaker 1: doesn't understand, and like how fast from the time of
- 22:05Speaker 1: the order to the time of the delivery of the product?
- 22:07Speaker 1: Like you don't have the stats or the analysis. Yeah,
- 22:10Speaker 1: like you're just talking about how much you love my
- 22:13Speaker 1: sister wife's closets.
- 22:15Speaker 2: It's terrible. This really feels like a bad high school
- 22:18Speaker 2: group project. Like nobody in the project is doing anything.
- 22:22Speaker 2: Nobody's doing their part. Everybody comes together, collabors something together,
- 22:26Speaker 2: and it's awful. They get like maybe a C minus.
- 22:28Speaker 2: Yeah that's what they get. Yeah, like this is what
- 22:30Speaker 2: it feels like. It's so embarrassing that these people in
- 22:33Speaker 2: their forties are doing this in front of these big
- 22:37Speaker 2: league venture capitalists.
- 22:38Speaker 1: Okay, but I mean I get the sense that Janelle
- 22:41Speaker 1: understands low key that they are completely embarrassing themselves.
- 22:46Speaker 2: Definitely. Yeah, she's the only one that's aware of it. Yeah,
- 22:48Speaker 2: everybody else thinks that they're doing fine.
- 22:50Speaker 1: Gets together, guys, like we're gonna be standing, We're gonna
- 22:53Speaker 1: be on camera. Yeah, people are gonna see this across
- 22:55Speaker 1: the world. Yeah, like, can we at least appear as
- 22:58Speaker 1: if we know what we're talking about? No? Yeah, answers no,
- 23:00Speaker 1: absolutely not. The answers no.
- 23:02Speaker 2: And then the day prior to the big pitch, they
- 23:06Speaker 2: meet with some business consultant named Scott or something, who
- 23:10Speaker 2: is this.
- 23:10Speaker 1: Other rando I don't know, like, what are his credentials? Yeah?
- 23:14Speaker 2: What are we doing? And then they practice their really
- 23:17Speaker 2: bad high school presentation in front of Scott while Christine's
- 23:21Speaker 2: like barefoot and she's the only one that's put together
- 23:25Speaker 2: because she's talking about marketing. Everybody else sounds absolutely chokes.
- 23:30Speaker 2: They can't even say anything, stumbles in front of this
- 23:32Speaker 2: rando dude. He like who is he? And you can't
- 23:35Speaker 2: even like come up with something. I don't understand.
- 23:38Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 23:39Speaker 2: I don't understand.
- 23:39Speaker 1: He's there to help them polish their pitch, and it
- 23:43Speaker 1: doesn't look good when they sit down after they practice
- 23:46Speaker 1: their pitch. He's like, I don't know what happened here, Robin.
- 23:49Speaker 1: The last time I met with you, you seemed really excited,
- 23:52Speaker 1: you were on fire for this project, but like you
- 23:55Speaker 1: seemed scared. She's like, well, I am scared because I
- 23:59Speaker 1: know when I in front of them, I'm gonna cry.
- 24:02Speaker 2: This made me laugh and.
- 24:03Speaker 1: I have ugly cry, and that made me wonder in
- 24:07Speaker 1: my raccoon brain whether people online and you people tell
- 24:10Speaker 1: me because I know some of you listen and watch
- 24:12Speaker 1: who were online at the time, but like, were people
- 24:14Speaker 1: talking about it at that point? About how much she cried,
- 24:18Speaker 1: the lack of actual tears, the fact that she was
- 24:22Speaker 1: an ugly crier, which I don't think she is, but
- 24:24Speaker 1: it must be a thing that she's aware of for
- 24:26Speaker 1: her to mention it at this point.
- 24:28Speaker 2: Definitely, And I think that it does come from like
- 24:30Speaker 2: a genuine place, because she does cry a lot, and
- 24:33Speaker 2: maybe some of it is real and some of it's fake.
- 24:36Speaker 2: I don't know, but it is embarrassing. But like Christine,
- 24:40Speaker 2: I liked in this segment because she was actually encouraging
- 24:43Speaker 2: Robin and being like, well, but that's actually your strongest
- 24:46Speaker 2: suit is that you wear your heart on your sleeve
- 24:48Speaker 2: and you show your passion Like that's okay, Like just
- 24:50Speaker 2: embrace that and don't be afraid of it. Like she's
- 24:53Speaker 2: genuinely trying, hear to be everybody's like not leader cheerleader, yes,
- 24:58Speaker 2: and nobody's having no because nobody can prepare jack shit.
- 25:03Speaker 2: Christine's the only one that has like a genuine.
- 25:06Speaker 1: Well, and it did seem to like look it up
- 25:08Speaker 1: what the demographic was and what that demographic would like
- 25:12Speaker 1: to purchase, right, how that demographic actually purchases shit, Like
- 25:16Speaker 1: she looked it up and was able to speak to
- 25:17Speaker 1: it for two minutes, and like, what the fuck were
- 25:20Speaker 1: you doing, Robin? Like this is your big project, right,
- 25:24Speaker 1: your life's work, and like you couldn't you couldn't state
- 25:27Speaker 1: what it is about this project that is so excellent, right,
- 25:31Speaker 1: all of the wonderful products and services that you're going
- 25:34Speaker 1: to provide, Like she just choked, and so did Janelle, Yeah,
- 25:37Speaker 1: and so did Mary.
- 25:38Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 25:39Speaker 1: Mary choked for real, so bad.
- 25:43Speaker 2: And then we get to the actual shark tank day.
- 25:45Speaker 2: They're not prepared whatsoever. I mean, they're barely prepared. They
- 25:50Speaker 2: came up with their little pitches and stuff like that,
- 25:52Speaker 2: but like their business is not ready to be pitched
- 25:56Speaker 2: to these investors.
- 25:57Speaker 1: No, not in the least, Beatrice.
- 26:00Speaker 2: They're dressed in their Sunday best and they pray together
- 26:03Speaker 2: and then they go into that little conference room, yes,
- 26:07Speaker 2: with these booty ass investors.
- 26:09Speaker 1: Listen that one lady, I think her title card said
- 26:12Speaker 1: her name was Stephanie k k period. I'm like, Okay,
- 26:15Speaker 1: you don't want to be known, you don't want to
- 26:17Speaker 1: be identified on this show. But like her polyester dress
- 26:21Speaker 1: with her weird black ballero, I'm like, who are you, Eyeshad? Yeah,
- 26:25Speaker 1: all of them looked very low rent, if I may say.
- 26:28Speaker 2: So, I agree one hundred percent. But nonetheless, the Browns
- 26:32Speaker 2: are nervous about it because it's their big pitch and
- 26:35Speaker 2: everything is riding on this pitch because if it doesn't work,
- 26:38Speaker 2: then they're back to the drawing board and then back
- 26:41Speaker 2: to square one, and they have to figure out what
- 26:43Speaker 2: to do. And so I think they start with Cody
- 26:46Speaker 2: and he starts talking about like their first couple years
- 26:49Speaker 2: of sales, like I think the first year they had
- 26:51Speaker 2: ten products and they did forty five thousand dollars, and
- 26:55Speaker 2: then the second year in twenty thirteen, they had sixty
- 26:58Speaker 2: products and they made one hundred eighty thousand dollars, which was.
- 27:02Speaker 1: Tea yeah, which we had been wondering, yase we watched
- 27:06Speaker 1: them go to all those expos We heard them talk
- 27:10Speaker 1: about the website, but we never really got to see it.
- 27:12Speaker 1: So that was interesting. And I'm thinking sixty products for
- 27:16Speaker 1: one hundred and eighty thousand dollars, But at no time
- 27:20Speaker 1: did they mention their overhead, their cost to do business,
- 27:24Speaker 1: like how much is the website costing you? What about
- 27:26Speaker 1: the materials? What about the marketing and the shipping? Like
- 27:29Speaker 1: we don't really understand what their expenditures are. They're just
- 27:32Speaker 1: talking about their profit.
- 27:34Speaker 2: Yeah, And if I cared enough, I would do the
- 27:36Speaker 2: math and try and fact check them, because I'm wondering, like,
- 27:39Speaker 2: how were you able to make one hundred and eighty
- 27:41Speaker 2: thousand from sixty products? Was that sixty products sold? Or
- 27:44Speaker 2: was that just sixty products.
- 27:45Speaker 1: That you had on his sixty products offered?
- 27:47Speaker 2: Like what are we doing here? I feel like Cody
- 27:50Speaker 2: was just talking out of his ass there personally, but
- 27:54Speaker 2: you math raccoons fact check me. Yeah. Yeah. And then
- 27:57Speaker 2: we have Christine saying that they had I've gotten I
- 28:00Speaker 2: don't know two million to fifteen million hits on their
- 28:03Speaker 2: website per month.
- 28:06Speaker 1: That was wild, absolutely insane. But then she said over
- 28:11Speaker 1: the last two months they only made five hundred sales,
- 28:16Speaker 1: girl with like anywhere from four to thirty million hits.
- 28:24Speaker 1: And then I was wondering, are these unique visitor hits?
- 28:27Speaker 1: Is this one person going through all of your sixty
- 28:29Speaker 1: products times I don't know a million or whatever? Like
- 28:32Speaker 1: how are you basing these hits on? Because if I
- 28:35Speaker 1: were an investor, I would actually want to know and
- 28:37Speaker 1: I would want to see those stats. But then Christine
- 28:40Speaker 1: does reference the fact that, look, I want to acknowledge
- 28:43Speaker 1: that there's clearly a gap between the fifteen million visitors
- 28:48Speaker 1: that we have to our website and our five hundred
- 28:51Speaker 1: products sold over sixty days. And our answer to that
- 28:56Speaker 1: gap is our creative director, Robin Brown. She's the creave
- 29:01Speaker 1: powerhouse behind all of these beautiful Mormon designs. And so
- 29:05Speaker 1: take it away, Robin.
- 29:06Speaker 2: And then Robin gives her pitch and totally chokes up
- 29:09Speaker 2: and cries yeap, and she says some stupid shit like, yeah,
- 29:14Speaker 2: hard working women who work really hard and have jobs.
- 29:17Speaker 1: And are courageous, courageous.
- 29:20Speaker 2: Strong, really want our jewelry and our products because they're
- 29:23Speaker 2: hard working women.
- 29:25Speaker 1: Right again, platitude and all. Yes, just talking in the
- 29:29Speaker 1: extreme meta, not in any of the details, Like we
- 29:32Speaker 1: haven't like actually pounded the pavement, talked to women, received feedback.
- 29:37Speaker 1: This is what they're looking for. This is how we know. No,
- 29:40Speaker 1: it's just like I just truly believe in women. I
- 29:42Speaker 1: believe that women want my product. I know it's true.
- 29:46Speaker 2: It's so fucking silly, so bad, like you could have
- 29:49Speaker 2: said so literally anything. These designs came from my heart
- 29:53Speaker 2: because I really love my sister wives. But sister wives
- 29:56Speaker 2: are for everybody, not just polygamists, Like we have our
- 30:00Speaker 2: own sisters or aunts. You could have said literally anything,
- 30:04Speaker 2: but no, we're going to cry and talk about hard
- 30:05Speaker 2: working women. Yeah, and then we have Janelle.
- 30:08Speaker 1: No, we have Mary before Janelle.
- 30:09Speaker 2: Well, Mary, I don't even remember.
- 30:11Speaker 1: Mary was. Dude. Mary was so bad because, like, I
- 30:15Speaker 1: realize that we're not dealing with a bunch of Einstein's here,
- 30:21Speaker 1: But I feel like when you look at the cumulative
- 30:24Speaker 1: accomplishments of Mary Brown, like she's done some shit in
- 30:27Speaker 1: her life, right, She's done luluaw I mean, and that
- 30:30Speaker 1: is unethical and terrible, but like she got in from
- 30:33Speaker 1: the ground up and she made a lot of money.
- 30:35Speaker 1: We're talking hundreds of thousands of dollars with luluaw I mean.
- 30:38Speaker 1: And she learned the shipping business and she's got an Airbnb,
- 30:42Speaker 1: Like she has accomplished some things. But in this moment,
- 30:45Speaker 1: oh my god, Season seven, standing in front of the investor,
- 30:48Speaker 1: she's like, I really, I really love customer service, and
- 30:52Speaker 1: I think it's so important that people get their packages,
- 30:55Speaker 1: and I just want to make sure that they get
- 30:57Speaker 1: their packages, and I believe that when they do, I
- 31:00Speaker 1: just want them to be happy with the packages. And
- 31:02Speaker 1: that's my job. That's my department in my sister wife's closet.
- 31:05Speaker 1: Take it away, you know, I.
- 31:08Speaker 2: Like it was.
- 31:10Speaker 1: If I'm talking about customer service, I'm going to talk
- 31:13Speaker 1: about do we have phone lines? Sure? Do we have
- 31:15Speaker 1: a chatbot? Probably in not twenty fourteen? How do we
- 31:18Speaker 1: twenty four hours to answer an email?
- 31:21Speaker 2: Like?
- 31:21Speaker 1: What shipper do we use? Do we use ups? Do
- 31:24Speaker 1: we well? How do we get your products to you?
- 31:26Speaker 1: We promised to get it within seventy Like, what are
- 31:29Speaker 1: your plans in terms of customer service? And she had nothing.
- 31:34Speaker 1: I was just like dying, dude, I was dying, and
- 31:37Speaker 1: you told me this was gonna be so good. And
- 31:40Speaker 1: you know, like I'm a kind of a business, ye
- 31:42Speaker 1: sort of person, like this was so wonderful. Oh my god,
- 31:47Speaker 1: I was so entertained. Records.
- 31:49Speaker 2: I love shipping and I love customer services.
- 31:53Speaker 1: I love when they get the product that makes me happy.
- 31:58Speaker 2: I can't, man, it's amazing. I've got the giggles, but
- 32:02Speaker 2: it's just amazing, so good. And then we have Janelle
- 32:05Speaker 2: who says they're projecting three point three million dollars of sales.
- 32:12Speaker 2: I guess by twenty sixteen, and I'm just like, how
- 32:15Speaker 2: do you go from forty five thousand to the first year,
- 32:18Speaker 2: one hundred and eighty thousand in the second year, and
- 32:20Speaker 2: then only five hundred sales this current year or whatever?
- 32:24Speaker 2: And then oh no, we're projecting three point three million.
- 32:28Speaker 2: And the way that she gets that number, I guess
- 32:30Speaker 2: is she's just like, well, you know, we're projecting that
- 32:33Speaker 2: based off of our online hits. If we can capture that,
- 32:36Speaker 2: and then if we get even just one percent of
- 32:40Speaker 2: the hits that are converted into sales, I mean, that's
- 32:43Speaker 2: ten million dollars.
- 32:44Speaker 1: But she didn't even say it that way. She said, like,
- 32:47Speaker 1: clearly we spoke to our conversion at fifteen million unique
- 32:52Speaker 1: visits or fifteen million visits. I'm like, that's not what
- 32:55Speaker 1: conversion is. Your conversion rate is fifteen million visit, you
- 33:00Speaker 1: sell one thousand products. Your conversion rate is whatever the
- 33:03Speaker 1: percentage of that is. That's what a conversion rate is.
- 33:05Speaker 1: And that's why I was cringing so much, because she
- 33:07Speaker 1: doesn't even understand that hits to your website do not
- 33:11Speaker 1: equal your conversion and so you sound and you look
- 33:14Speaker 1: so dumb. And then she's just like and anything else
- 33:18Speaker 1: you need to notice right there in your packet, So
- 33:20Speaker 1: just you know, take it home with you when you've
- 33:21Speaker 1: got time, just get a glass of wine, read through it,
- 33:24Speaker 1: and then let me know what you think.
- 33:27Speaker 2: Let me know what you think about the packet I
- 33:29Speaker 2: created at midnight last night, drunk on something absolutely like
- 33:33Speaker 2: absolutely insane. And then Cody, I think, ends the pitch
- 33:36Speaker 2: by saying like, we're asking for two point five million
- 33:40Speaker 2: for a twenty percent stake, which in Shark Tank terms,
- 33:43Speaker 2: is absolutely ridiculous for a business like this. If they
- 33:47Speaker 2: were actually on the show in front of like Mark
- 33:49Speaker 2: Cuban and the rest of them, oh my god, they
- 33:52Speaker 2: would have gotten laughed at so hard.
- 33:54Speaker 1: I wish that would have happened hard. I wish they
- 33:57Speaker 1: would have been destroyed on that.
- 33:58Speaker 2: Oh my god. It would have been so oh fucking good,
- 34:01Speaker 2: them being like we're out, Yeah, your business just try
- 34:05Speaker 2: it sucks.
- 34:05Speaker 1: These designs are awful.
- 34:07Speaker 2: These investors were way too nice to them, like, way
- 34:10Speaker 2: too nice. I wish they would have just ripped them
- 34:12Speaker 2: a new asshole. Would have been so awesome. And then
- 34:14Speaker 2: we get to the questions portion of the whole pitch,
- 34:17Speaker 2: and we have one investor guy asking how can we
- 34:20Speaker 2: expect a return on some on an investment like that? Yeah,
- 34:24Speaker 2: And Janelle's like, yeah, you'll get it by twenty seventeen
- 34:27Speaker 2: in three years.
- 34:27Speaker 1: But how but how based on what? Yeah?
- 34:32Speaker 2: And then another investor asks, I don't know if it
- 34:34Speaker 2: was the lady or one of the other randos, asks,
- 34:37Speaker 2: you know, where are the fifteen million hits on your website?
- 34:41Speaker 2: Even going? What are they doing on your website? And
- 34:46Speaker 2: why are you even telling me this number? Essentially if
- 34:48Speaker 2: it means nothing in terms of actual sales. I think
- 34:51Speaker 2: Christine answers like, yeah, so that's why we're here because
- 34:54Speaker 2: we don't know.
- 34:55Speaker 1: Yeah, we're hoping you can help us with that. Well,
- 34:58Speaker 1: that's not how that works. No, you are supposed to
- 35:00Speaker 1: come to these Shark Tank people with your complete system.
- 35:05Speaker 1: How you can scale that up so you can serve
- 35:07Speaker 1: all these people with all of your wonderful products. But
- 35:09Speaker 1: she's like, yeah, that's what we're hoping you'll help us
- 35:11Speaker 1: to do, make us rich, would you mind?
- 35:13Speaker 2: Which is crazy?
- 35:14Speaker 1: Yeah, absolutely insane.
- 35:16Speaker 2: And then another one of the investors asks how they
- 35:19Speaker 2: expect to compete with I don't know, better jewelry.
- 35:22Speaker 1: Brains claires Claire's.
- 35:26Speaker 2: Seriously, how do you compete with these other competitors? And
- 35:28Speaker 2: Robin's like, well, our advantage, though, is that we're a
- 35:32Speaker 2: family business.
- 35:34Speaker 1: Our advantage what she said, is well, people know who
- 35:36Speaker 1: we are and they trust us. They know that we
- 35:39Speaker 1: have a leader and four wives, and they believe in us.
- 35:43Speaker 1: And I'm like, girl, your stats are literally telling you
- 35:48Speaker 1: that nobody trusts you all. And that's why I actually
- 35:51Speaker 1: wanted to ask the question of the raccoons, because once
- 35:53Speaker 1: again I let you know that I wasn't around watching
- 35:56Speaker 1: back then, but like, what was the temperature of the
- 35:59Speaker 1: audience and the community, Like we're people just already picking
- 36:03Speaker 1: up that they're lying that this is all falling apart,
- 36:06Speaker 1: that Robin's a mistress, Like we're people thinking these thoughts
- 36:10Speaker 1: because I think they were, and I think those are
- 36:12Speaker 1: the people that were going to the website and then
- 36:14Speaker 1: laughing at the terrible website and there's a bunch of
- 36:17Speaker 1: Mormons they're like, oh my god, she's ripping off my
- 36:19Speaker 1: sister's class exactly, and they're just going there to look
- 36:23Speaker 1: at the car crash. Yeah, and like, how are you
- 36:25Speaker 1: not making the connection that actually nobody trusts you Robin,
- 36:29Speaker 1: and that's why they're not buying your products.
- 36:31Speaker 2: Nobody trusts you, and even if they did, they wouldn't
- 36:34Speaker 2: pay two hundred dollars for ball sack jewelry. Like maybe
- 36:37Speaker 2: your designs fucking suck and maybe you should rethink what
- 36:41Speaker 2: you're trying to sell. But no, let's just ask these
- 36:44Speaker 2: people for two point five.
- 36:46Speaker 1: Million and they can tell us how to be rich.
- 36:48Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly, that's all they want, right, And then we
- 36:51Speaker 2: have another investor asking if that two point five million
- 36:55Speaker 2: dollars is going to be enough or is it just
- 36:57Speaker 2: for like the jewelry or whatever, And this is where
- 37:01Speaker 2: says the most out of pocket thing. She's just like, well, yeah,
- 37:04Speaker 2: it's for product development. But we don't want to ask
- 37:07Speaker 2: for too much because otherwise we might lose our drive
- 37:10Speaker 2: and get lazy or.
- 37:12Speaker 1: Something and complacent.
- 37:13Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, and not actually have the motivation to pay
- 37:17Speaker 2: you guys back. So we want to ask for just
- 37:19Speaker 2: the right amount that'll motivate us to actually pay back
- 37:23Speaker 2: our debt.
- 37:23Speaker 1: To shut up, I'm like, drop talking, why.
- 37:26Speaker 2: Are we saying that? And Cody in the moment is
- 37:29Speaker 2: like Noddy, He's like, yeah, good.
- 37:31Speaker 1: Job Christine Ray for that, because it's not too much
- 37:38Speaker 1: so that we can just be lazy assholes and take
- 37:41Speaker 1: all of your money. What is that even? It's don't
- 37:44Speaker 1: I don't understand Christine's logic here. I was just wondering
- 37:48Speaker 1: if she was nervous and she was just talking and
- 37:50Speaker 1: she couldn't stop herself, But like, why would you ever
- 37:54Speaker 1: say that that indicates that you have a potential to
- 37:58Speaker 1: become lazy and complacent and therefore not be able to
- 38:02Speaker 1: give them a return on their investment.
- 38:04Speaker 2: Christie exactly, And that's what was making me wonder, Like, Okay,
- 38:07Speaker 2: I thought that the motivation here was mainly for Robin
- 38:11Speaker 2: and Cody to get money, mainly so Robin didn't have
- 38:14Speaker 2: to do anything for the business, so she could just
- 38:17Speaker 2: fuck around and hope that this business would make her rich.
- 38:20Speaker 2: But it seemed like maybe it was the motivation for
- 38:24Speaker 2: everybody else to just get enough money funnel it somewhere
- 38:28Speaker 2: so maybe it'll make some money, but they don't all
- 38:30Speaker 2: have to do anything, Like I don't know why she
- 38:32Speaker 2: even said that.
- 38:33Speaker 1: I think what they were really doing here was offering
- 38:38Speaker 1: themselves as a brand and basically saying something like, look,
- 38:41Speaker 1: what do y'all want to do? With us. We're obviously
- 38:44Speaker 1: a commodity, we obviously have a hit show, we have
- 38:48Speaker 1: a lot of interest. This is our idea, But like,
- 38:50Speaker 1: what do you guys think we can do? How can
- 38:53Speaker 1: we make money together? Like that's where I think they're
- 38:56Speaker 1: actually coming from on an energetic level. But they've just
- 38:59Speaker 1: put all of their eggs in this stupid My Sister
- 39:02Speaker 1: Wives closet basket and that's what they're going to ride
- 39:05Speaker 1: to the wheels come off.
- 39:07Speaker 2: What's so weird to me is like don't you think
- 39:10Speaker 2: they would have had people coming to them back in
- 39:13Speaker 2: this time? Like don't you think there was actual people
- 39:16Speaker 2: like trying to make money off of their brand and
- 39:18Speaker 2: off their show or do you think it was mainly
- 39:20Speaker 2: just TLC like had the hand and everything and so
- 39:24Speaker 2: they were trying to make their own money on the side.
- 39:28Speaker 1: I don't know. I know with like Bravo contracts nowadays,
- 39:31Speaker 1: not at the beginning of like the Housewives franchises, but
- 39:35Speaker 1: now like if you become a housewife and then you
- 39:37Speaker 1: start a business or you market a business, you have
- 39:40Speaker 1: to give Bravo a cut. Oh so you have to
- 39:43Speaker 1: give away a little bit of your business. Actually, I
- 39:45Speaker 1: don't know what that cut is. And I think that's
- 39:47Speaker 1: as a result of Bethany Frankel, who was the one
- 39:50Speaker 1: who went on to make like Skinny Girl Margarita's while
- 39:53Speaker 1: she was filming Real Housewives of New York and Bravo
- 39:56Speaker 1: never got a cut. So after Bethany, they put that
- 39:58Speaker 1: in the contracts. And so I'm one wondering whether and
- 40:01Speaker 1: was that around the same time I wonder So I'm
- 40:03Speaker 1: wondering whether TLC had something in their contracts where they
- 40:07Speaker 1: would take a portion of it. But I don't have
- 40:09Speaker 1: any Look, I don't know what these people are doing.
- 40:12Speaker 1: It's just so embarrassing to watch. And then we have
- 40:15Speaker 1: Stan to the camera telling us without the Browns, they've
- 40:19Speaker 1: left the building.
- 40:20Speaker 2: Their pitch is done.
- 40:21Speaker 1: Their pitch is done, and they're like, yeah, we're going
- 40:23Speaker 1: to take about a week. We'll talk amongst ourselves and
- 40:26Speaker 1: get back to you. But then we have Stan saying
- 40:28Speaker 1: to the camera like, yeah, most of the people who
- 40:31Speaker 1: get us in a room have their shit together. They
- 40:35Speaker 1: have a complete presentation with all of the analyzes, everything
- 40:38Speaker 1: we need to see and to understand. But the Browns
- 40:41Speaker 1: did not have that. And if it were anybody else,
- 40:45Speaker 1: we would have walked out in the middle of that presentation,
- 40:48Speaker 1: but because these guys are my friends, I kind of
- 40:50Speaker 1: called in a favor, like we sat and listened to
- 40:53Speaker 1: the whole thing.
- 40:54Speaker 2: So wow, I bet his friends were like, dude, what
- 40:58Speaker 2: are you doing?
- 40:59Speaker 1: What age joke?
- 41:00Speaker 2: Why are we even entertaining these fools?
- 41:03Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know.
- 41:04Speaker 2: I mean, it's absolutely ridiculous, and so like the investors
- 41:06Speaker 2: are having their own private conversation about like what an
- 41:09Speaker 2: absolute shit show this pitch, if you can even call
- 41:12Speaker 2: it that was, And then you have the Browns outside
- 41:16Speaker 2: and Cody just talking out his ass again being like yeah,
- 41:20Speaker 2: so like I feel like that was like a job
- 41:22Speaker 2: interview and we completely fucking nailed it, kissed it.
- 41:28Speaker 1: And then Janelle's on the side going like, I feel
- 41:31Speaker 1: like we got some things wrong there.
- 41:33Speaker 2: She's the only one with the voice of reason. And
- 41:36Speaker 2: I felt bad a little bit for Janelle because Janelle,
- 41:38Speaker 2: I feel like it's smart. I feel like she, out
- 41:40Speaker 2: of all the Browns, she's probably one of the smartest.
- 41:42Speaker 2: And then maybe Christine, and she looked like a total
- 41:46Speaker 2: fool along with all.
- 41:47Speaker 1: Of it, and she knew that she did and she
- 41:48Speaker 1: didn't want to do it. It's like when Janelle opts
- 41:50Speaker 1: out of like dancing with the rest of the wives
- 41:53Speaker 1: right for somebody's wedding. She's like, I don't want to
- 41:55Speaker 1: look like a fool. I don't want to be a
- 41:56Speaker 1: part of it. So I think they had to drag
- 41:59Speaker 1: her into this kicking and screaming, and I think she
- 42:01Speaker 1: realizes as soon as they walk out that they made
- 42:04Speaker 1: fools out of themselves. But you've got Robin just grinning
- 42:07Speaker 1: ear to ear. I know, you've got Christine who's just
- 42:09Speaker 1: oblivious to life anyway. Yeah, and nobody understands the gravity
- 42:13Speaker 1: of their failure, like you failed spectacularly. Spec Now, I
- 42:18Speaker 1: don't know, and I know you maybe mentioned it, but
- 42:20Speaker 1: I don't know whether the investors come back with like
- 42:22Speaker 1: a counter offer, or if they want to negotiate, or
- 42:25Speaker 1: whether they just tell them, dudes, absolutely not, I forget
- 42:29Speaker 1: what you said. Do you want to spoil it?
- 42:31Speaker 2: Yeah? Yeah, No. They come back and they were like,
- 42:33Speaker 2: this was crazy. You didn't have your shit together. They
- 42:36Speaker 2: call Christine out for her comment about being lazy and complacent,
- 42:39Speaker 2: and she feels like.
- 42:41Speaker 1: So bad about it, like she tanked the whole thing totally.
- 42:44Speaker 2: She feels so bad She's like, I didn't realize what
- 42:46Speaker 2: I said was so bad, and I feel like such
- 42:48Speaker 2: an idiot. And then Cody like berates her on the couch.
- 42:50Speaker 2: Oh no, the next episode. But then I think the
- 42:53Speaker 2: investors do come back with like a counteroffer. I want
- 42:55Speaker 2: to say, it's something like two hundred thousand dollars or
- 42:58Speaker 2: something like that, something.
- 42:59Speaker 1: Ninety percent of your business way lower, and you cannot
- 43:02Speaker 1: work in the business. We're just going to take your
- 43:04Speaker 1: name and we'll do whatever we want to do with it.
- 43:07Speaker 1: I don't know, we'll see.
- 43:08Speaker 2: It's like something like that, Like they give them a bone,
- 43:11Speaker 2: which they shouldn't. I mean, they shouldn't give the Browns
- 43:13Speaker 2: any money whatsoever. But I think they do give them,
- 43:15Speaker 2: like two hundred or two hundred and fifty thousand or
- 43:18Speaker 2: something like that.
- 43:18Speaker 1: But do they offer it or do they actually give
- 43:20Speaker 1: it to them.
- 43:21Speaker 2: They offer it, and okay, Cody and them do take it.
- 43:24Speaker 1: I don't think, well, we'll get there, but when we
- 43:26Speaker 1: get there, because we don't necessarily know what's going to happen,
- 43:29Speaker 1: I just know that this is absolute cinema. It is
- 43:32Speaker 1: so good, fantastic. I enjoyed it so much.
- 43:35Speaker 2: I know for a fact, the next couple of seasons
- 43:37Speaker 2: are going to be fucking lit of Rewinds because this
- 43:40Speaker 2: season's all my sister's closet. Ye. Next season you get
- 43:43Speaker 2: into Christine and Cody's marital troubles.
- 43:45Speaker 1: And its are we going to Galveston? Yes, okay, and.
- 43:48Speaker 2: You have the marriage therapy and it it's so bad.
- 43:51Speaker 2: Their marriage is awful. And then season nine is when
- 43:55Speaker 2: Mary gets catfished.
- 43:59Speaker 1: Remind me again, when Mary's legal divorces, it's before the
- 44:03Speaker 1: cap eight, so it's it's next season Rewinds are going
- 44:07Speaker 1: to be la Yes, well, we're gonna have to put
- 44:09Speaker 1: Rewindes on pause when a Sister Wive season twenty comes
- 44:13Speaker 1: back at the end of September. We're definitely going to
- 44:15Speaker 1: be here for that, of course we are. We hope
- 44:17Speaker 1: you will join us now. Is there anything else that
- 44:20Speaker 1: we need to say to these beautiful raccoons before we
- 44:22Speaker 1: get up on ada here?
- 44:23Speaker 2: Beatrice, Well, if you love what we do over here, please,
- 44:26Speaker 2: if you could find the kindness in your arm, go
- 44:29Speaker 2: to your favorite podcast platform and leave us a glowing
- 44:31Speaker 2: five star review. It really helps us grow the pod
- 44:34Speaker 2: so more people can find us and join us in
- 44:36Speaker 2: the dumpster. We really appreciate it so thank you so much.
- 44:39Speaker 1: We will be back later this week to talk. Welcome
- 44:42Speaker 1: to plath Bill, which is so much fun. We're having
- 44:46Speaker 1: a great time and we are hoping that you're joining

- 44:51Speaker 1: we have nothing but love for you, and please e
