- 0:33Speaker 1: Look at the boss though, Fred a good week, crappy. Yeah,
- 0:36Speaker 1: anytime I think he's not here, anytime you're with Fred, crap,
- 0:39Speaker 1: you feel like he's here. It's like he's beautiful. He's
- 0:42Speaker 1: a little girl in Dusseldorf right now. Sometimes I do
- 0:44Speaker 1: get lost by the gambling WINGO. Well that's because a
- 0:47Speaker 1: friend I know, he's confused me any half he just
- 0:51Speaker 1: considers a hook. But then this past year they go
- 0:53Speaker 1: right back to Cole Strange and that's a Belichick pick,
- 0:55Speaker 1: like please ye, Robert crafts right that there's another punching
- 1:01Speaker 1: bag on the show. I want to get to my
- 1:02Speaker 1: little thing real quick. And I thought we would put
- 1:04Speaker 1: to put you a little coming and I want to
- 1:06Speaker 1: talk about it. John from Pocatello, Idaho, hope, I said
- 1:09Speaker 1: that right. He's a Pocatello rode a horse and Donnelle,
- 1:12Speaker 1: Idaho not too far away from that. If I put
- 1:14Speaker 1: one hundred bucks on every game and I went eighty
- 1:16Speaker 1: fifty three and three, I wouldn't be here talking to
- 1:18Speaker 1: you clowns anymore. I'd be home. This is Patriot's Unfiltered,
- 1:23Speaker 1: fueled by Duncan. All right, welcome wow to Patriots Unfiltered.
- 1:30Speaker 1: I'm not gonna talk much. My voice is gone. I
- 1:33Speaker 1: gotta give you props though, Freddie, you got you got
- 1:35Speaker 1: it out? I left. I left my voice in Munich
- 1:38Speaker 1: playing hurt. Yeah. So uh. But it is Tuesday here
- 1:42Speaker 1: at Gilt Stadium, and it's Deuce, it's Paul, it's me,
- 1:46Speaker 1: it's Matt in the booth, and I'm not gonna talk
- 1:48Speaker 1: as much as I usually do. I'll see if I
- 1:51Speaker 1: can get you in an argument. You got you're kind
- 1:54Speaker 1: of you. Gotta play toying with him now he can't
- 1:56Speaker 1: really find that. I'll really commit to my website, the Spiders,
- 2:00Speaker 1: But we're gonna talk Patriots. We had to buy. But
- 2:03Speaker 1: it was a wild week in the NFL. Crazy. I
- 2:06Speaker 1: mean that Vikings Bills game was just back and forth,
- 2:09Speaker 1: and if you walked away from the TV for one second,
- 2:10Speaker 1: you're like, what what just happened? Ridiculous? Absolutely ridiculous. And
- 2:14Speaker 1: when did I say the Eagles would get their first loss?
- 2:17Speaker 1: Did you say this one against an NFC East opponent? Yeah,
- 2:21Speaker 1: and sure enough, totally ran. That's what happens. Yeah, the commanders,
- 2:25Speaker 1: some of us envisioned it. Yeah, did you made that pick?
- 2:28Speaker 1: Was that one here? I picked the points? Yeah? Good
- 2:32Speaker 1: for you, Paul, you did not. Um. Yeah, I'm not
- 2:36Speaker 1: gonna lie to you. I can't lie to you and
- 2:37Speaker 1: tell you I thought that the Eagles would lose the game.
- 2:39Speaker 1: But I agree with you. And when you see those
- 2:42Speaker 1: double digit or close to double digit spreads in the division,
- 2:45Speaker 1: I almost always take the points. Um. You know, oh
- 2:48Speaker 1: seven Patriots, notwithstanding day with the outlier that a law outliers. Um.
- 2:53Speaker 1: But sometimes those games just unfold in different ways. And
- 2:58Speaker 1: I mean it's it was. I didn't watch much the game,
- 3:00Speaker 1: but there were a million different things that conspired against
- 3:03Speaker 1: the Eagles in this game last night, which was a
- 3:06Speaker 1: scoop and score that should have been a penalty. Yeah,
- 3:08Speaker 1: I mean Eagles. Yeah, I didn't see. I didn't see
- 3:11Speaker 1: the game display right here where where Heinik went down
- 3:14Speaker 1: at the end and they kind of took a knee
- 3:16Speaker 1: and then Brandon Graham just kind of like fell down
- 3:18Speaker 1: into him and then I think they called that a
- 3:20Speaker 1: roughing the passer call that that helped them seal it.
- 3:23Speaker 1: It's games like that that that don't do much for
- 3:25Speaker 1: the game. You know, the game is fixed, crowd like
- 3:29Speaker 1: it's it. From what I heard this morning when I
- 3:32Speaker 1: woke up and started scrolling through my my Twitter feed,
- 3:37Speaker 1: the Eagles kind of got screwed. But I like, I
- 3:39Speaker 1: can't really comment because I didn't see any of the
- 3:41Speaker 1: plays in question, but certainly everybody, I mean to the
- 3:44Speaker 1: point where Florio was talking about face match should be
- 3:46Speaker 1: a reviewable penalty because that was that blatant that they
- 3:49Speaker 1: missed it. Wow, I didn't Again, I didn't see the play.
- 3:52Speaker 1: But so the Eagles were last undefeated. Good for the Dolphins,
- 3:56Speaker 1: they get to celebrate again. For the Patriots, yeah, undefeated regulars.
- 4:01Speaker 1: We're the last team to have an undefeated regular season
- 4:04Speaker 1: sixteen and no, never been done. Again, I don't know.
- 4:06Speaker 1: I think it's hard to do. I don't Paul thinks that.
- 4:09Speaker 1: I think it's hard to do. Yeah anyway, Um, and
- 4:12Speaker 1: also the Bears in the Lions had a good game
- 4:15Speaker 1: back they for they did. Yeah yeah Bears Lions. Yeah yeah.
- 4:18Speaker 1: I can't really get rid read on the Bears right
- 4:19Speaker 1: now because as you know, I'm looking. I My thing
- 4:21Speaker 1: right now is like printing out the schedule of you know,
- 4:24Speaker 1: all the teams that are gonna be you know, in
- 4:26Speaker 1: the mix and that are gonna be facing. But I mean,
- 4:28Speaker 1: you know, Buffalo Chicago. I think the Jets there with
- 4:31Speaker 1: Chicago as well, I think, um yeah, they're they're after
- 4:35Speaker 1: New England. So it's just a team that that will
- 4:37Speaker 1: have some say in some of the some of the AFC.
- 4:42Speaker 1: You're welcome. It's the opposite. It's the opposite of what
- 4:45Speaker 1: normally happens. Remember the Patriots used to do the blueprint
- 4:47Speaker 1: to shut down other teams, right, Patriots are provided the
- 4:50Speaker 1: blueprint for Chicago to unlock there to get your team
- 4:53Speaker 1: on track, Yeah, which I mean, I like, I mean,
- 4:56Speaker 1: I felt like that's exactly what we were talking about
- 4:58Speaker 1: going into that game. And I'm just like, why don't
- 5:00Speaker 1: they run him like and now you're seeing him run
- 5:04Speaker 1: like I mean, as fast as Lamar. I mean, some
- 5:06Speaker 1: of those runs he looks were just like looks like
- 5:08Speaker 1: he's shot out of a cannon. And you can see
- 5:10Speaker 1: when he runs like that, and he's that kind of
- 5:12Speaker 1: a weapon. He can throw well enough with that kind
- 5:14Speaker 1: of running ability. Yeah, and he still makes some mistakes.
- 5:16Speaker 1: He had a terrible pick six in that game, you know,
- 5:19Speaker 1: to Akuda under pressure. Um, but he's making some throws now.
- 5:24Speaker 1: And when you run for one hundred and fifty yards,
- 5:26Speaker 1: I mean that you're a weapon. And I think and
- 5:28Speaker 1: they and they, I think it's four weeks in a
- 5:30Speaker 1: row they've been over thirty points or something like that.
- 5:32Speaker 1: I watched a little the early bit of the Eagles
- 5:36Speaker 1: Commander's game last night, but I just I thought that
- 5:37Speaker 1: the Eagles offense, just watching them, how they mix in
- 5:41Speaker 1: the design runs, I mean, they almost feel maybe this
- 5:44Speaker 1: is why they're good. I mean I haven't watched a
- 5:45Speaker 1: lot of them, but they just feel like a more
- 5:46Speaker 1: balanced team. Like like Baltimore, it always feels like they
- 5:49Speaker 1: kind of get going once that happens. But to me,
- 5:51Speaker 1: it just seemed watching the Eagles last night that they're
- 5:53Speaker 1: one of those teams that can kind of do what
- 5:55Speaker 1: they want. They can kind of pick and you know
- 5:57Speaker 1: they want to run the quarterback, they can. They want
- 5:59Speaker 1: to you know, just kind to go spread l and
- 6:00Speaker 1: throw it. They can do that too. So, um, I
- 6:02Speaker 1: just you know, overall impressed their ball and the best
- 6:05Speaker 1: team in the AFC one again, and of course I'm
- 6:06Speaker 1: talking about my Miami Dolphins. I mean, it's it's not
- 6:09Speaker 1: even really a joke anymore. I mean, that would that
- 6:11Speaker 1: would be the key to study Chiefs. But okay, that's
- 6:14Speaker 1: that's that's fair. I would I would agree, But but
- 6:17Speaker 1: they're playing the best. I don't know how you can
- 6:19Speaker 1: watch two of the last few weeks and not think
- 6:21Speaker 1: that he's writ in the mix? Is you know, as
- 6:22Speaker 1: Paul said a couple of weeks ago, I think you
- 6:24Speaker 1: know kind of like, hey, who do you think be
- 6:25Speaker 1: an MVP? Like? But there's no joking about it. I mean,
- 6:28Speaker 1: he is playing out of his mind. I'm not hit
- 6:32Speaker 1: happened when he's not there? Right? And you see what's
- 6:34Speaker 1: happening when they're undefeated in games that he played and finished, right,
- 6:38Speaker 1: you know, the one game that he started and didn't finish,
- 6:40Speaker 1: they lost the other two he didn't start and play
- 6:42Speaker 1: at all and they lost. And otherwise they're seven and oh,
- 6:45Speaker 1: I mean, as I said to Paul yesterday after we
- 6:47Speaker 1: were shooting the TV show, like two is throwing dimes
- 6:49Speaker 1: to receivers that I haven't even heard of yet, you know,
- 6:52Speaker 1: I mean, he's doing it all right now. So it's uh.
- 6:55Speaker 1: And they're starting to run the ball a little bit too,
- 6:57Speaker 1: which could be the guy that got Wilson from from
- 7:00Speaker 1: San franci He was running a little bit well. And
- 7:02Speaker 1: it's it's kind of like what you envisioned, what I
- 7:04Speaker 1: what I'm guessing like McDaniel's Mike McDaniel envisioned when he
- 7:08Speaker 1: brought like Raheem Mostart and then he goes out and
- 7:10Speaker 1: gets Wilson that kind of speed with the way with
- 7:14Speaker 1: all their weapons they have you exposed and they can
- 7:17Speaker 1: hit you with big plays in the running game, like
- 7:19Speaker 1: they had like a I think Mostart had like a
- 7:21Speaker 1: thirty one yard touchdown running that game. I mean, they
- 7:23Speaker 1: would just toying with Cleveland. That game wasn't competitive. And
- 7:26Speaker 1: you know, I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the
- 7:28Speaker 1: big game in Munich, Tom Brady four and oh and
- 7:31Speaker 1: International Games. How was it to see him again? Did
- 7:33Speaker 1: you didn't? Did you get to kiss him? I did
- 7:35Speaker 1: not tell you got I know what sounds like Zell's
- 7:38Speaker 1: kissing people, so maybe he can go kiss people too.
- 7:40Speaker 1: You remember what we said about this more to that story.
- 7:43Speaker 1: All I told, all I said, And just strictly my
- 7:46Speaker 1: opinion from Afar is you do not get divorced because
- 7:49Speaker 1: your husband or wife has a job, right, that's not
- 7:53Speaker 1: grounds for divorce in ninety nine point nine percent of marriages.
- 7:58Speaker 1: And I think to the context of him leaving training
- 8:00Speaker 1: camp now it I mean, it seems to me like
- 8:02Speaker 1: he was on a mission to try to save his
- 8:04Speaker 1: marriage probably at that point, and that was I need
- 8:06Speaker 1: to go try to make sense right. But poor Tom
- 8:10Speaker 1: now now I have. I think now people realize how
- 8:13Speaker 1: good a guy he is. Well, the Antonio Brown thing
- 8:15Speaker 1: today I thought made him Franks for that. I liked
- 8:19Speaker 1: what did you see what Antonio Brown released, which was
- 8:22Speaker 1: like this heart felt text from Tom Brady saying, like,
- 8:25Speaker 1: you know, you're kind of turning your back on people
- 8:27Speaker 1: that you know we're there and trying to support you.
- 8:29Speaker 1: And I mean it was so what was the purpose
- 8:31Speaker 1: for him releasing the text being an idiot, Antonio Brown
- 8:34Speaker 1: doing what he does, I think, but I mean everything
- 8:36Speaker 1: you would think would be on Tom Brady's mind after
- 8:38Speaker 1: it seemed like Tom Brady bent over backwards to give
- 8:41Speaker 1: Antonio Brown multiple chances when he probably didn't deserve him.
- 8:43Speaker 1: And what do you think that Brown did it to
- 8:45Speaker 1: help Tom like show I was probably trying to make
- 8:48Speaker 1: him out to be a bad guy. Yeah, I think
- 8:49Speaker 1: that was the implication. And then you know a lot
- 8:51Speaker 1: of people are saying, I don't know what Antonio Brown's
- 8:53Speaker 1: doing because this makes Tom Brady look like, you know,
- 8:55Speaker 1: a guy that's you know, good guy that actually did concerned,
- 8:58Speaker 1: that actually didn't care about him. Right, he's playing the
- 9:02Speaker 1: long game, he's keeping the texts coming back, it's coming
- 9:04Speaker 1: back next year. But talking about you know, lying playing
- 9:08Speaker 1: with dogs and getting fleas, right, that's the perfect example
- 9:11Speaker 1: of that. But anyway, I'm back to the game. I mean,
- 9:14Speaker 1: the crowd and they had sixty nine thousand sold out
- 9:18Speaker 1: at the stadium. They were I mean, they were going wild.
- 9:22Speaker 1: They see the lashing a football game. Did you get
- 9:24Speaker 1: a Patriot centric or just general football fans? They were
- 9:27Speaker 1: just excited. Yeah, obviously mostly Seahawks and Tampa fans, but
- 9:32Speaker 1: a lot of Patriots fans in town. I thought it
- 9:34Speaker 1: was interesting some of the pregame I was watching where
- 9:36Speaker 1: they said, you know, the NFL has made such a
- 9:39Speaker 1: push over the last decade in London, but really Germany
- 9:42Speaker 1: is just absolutely loaded with NFL fans and that this
- 9:46Speaker 1: is just such a right market. And that's like we
- 9:48Speaker 1: talked about, that was the only place that continued to
- 9:51Speaker 1: have the NFL Europe, right, that's right. They were the
- 9:53Speaker 1: last Baston of America and there was like three or
- 9:55Speaker 1: four teams still left there. That's right, that's right, and
- 9:57Speaker 1: they still are. You know, they have their own league.
- 10:00Speaker 1: It's called the European Football League. But they have the
- 10:03Speaker 1: still the Rhine Fire and the Frankfort Galaxies. Wow, the
- 10:05Speaker 1: Frankfort Galaxy that remember those from there still there? Oh
- 10:10Speaker 1: my gosh. That'd be a good trivia question. How many
- 10:11Speaker 1: of those teams could you name? I think so yeah, yeah,
- 10:15Speaker 1: that's right, good Paul. But um, you know, I love
- 10:20Speaker 1: you know, the stadium was a beautiful stadium. I would
- 10:23Speaker 1: say that they left millions of dollars on the table
- 10:26Speaker 1: by not doing their concession stands, right, I mean, really,
- 10:29Speaker 1: the lines were ridiculous, and I guess for soccer they
- 10:33Speaker 1: have hawkers in the stands, they didn't have any of those.
- 10:35Speaker 1: So everybody's like if you literally missed a quarter if
- 10:39Speaker 1: you wanted to get something, that's just poor to me. Yeah,
- 10:41Speaker 1: that's ridiculous because it's all like glass steins and they
- 10:43Speaker 1: got to give you like a half. Well, they have
- 10:45Speaker 1: a thing in um. They have a thing in Germany
- 10:48Speaker 1: where when you buy you know, a plastic mug, they
- 10:52Speaker 1: charge you extra, but you can return it for you know,
- 10:55Speaker 1: to euro So like people like a go around, find
- 10:59Speaker 1: the math after the game and wait online to redeem them.
- 11:02Speaker 1: How how how convenient was it for you as an
- 11:04Speaker 1: international traveler, you know, just coming into Munich and I
- 11:08Speaker 1: mean everybody speaks at least some English. It wasn't that
- 11:11Speaker 1: hard at all. Yeah, yeah, but Munich is a beautiful city.
- 11:15Speaker 1: Did you get to see anybody like outside of you know,
- 11:19Speaker 1: the Patriots per view that you know, any famous folks
- 11:23Speaker 1: you know what I mean, any any people watching you
- 11:26Speaker 1: know I of any note No, not really like NFL
- 11:29Speaker 1: people or well you know, I just met like famous people,
- 11:33Speaker 1: a lot of like political leaders, but like no one
- 11:36Speaker 1: would know them here, you know, on the meracle, like
- 11:41Speaker 1: you know some Germans us consulate people and you know
- 11:45Speaker 1: the German people. And I didn't know if there were
- 11:47Speaker 1: any like celebrats over there. Oh there are outside of
- 11:49Speaker 1: the NFL. I don't know who they are. I mean
- 11:51Speaker 1: there was a social We had a pub. The Patriots
- 11:54Speaker 1: had a pub that we activated in and you know,
- 11:57Speaker 1: gave away like boxes and boxes of me and dies.
- 12:00Speaker 1: And Sebastian was there and Marcus Kohun and they talked
- 12:04Speaker 1: with the players and you know, we had the cheerleaders
- 12:06Speaker 1: and the mascot and uh. Saturday night they had a
- 12:11Speaker 1: social influencer dinner in the back of our pub, but
- 12:14Speaker 1: it was sponsored by the NFL, and supposedly there were
- 12:17Speaker 1: a lot of like famous social influencer people. I didn't
- 12:20Speaker 1: know anybody. I guess there was one player from Real
- 12:23Speaker 1: Madrid who people knew who he was. But everybody else
- 12:26Speaker 1: that would like like German TikTok like if yeah, if
- 12:29Speaker 1: you were on social, you wouldn't. I didn't know any
- 12:31Speaker 1: of them, but they were all back there, yeah, building
- 12:35Speaker 1: the following and then uh, I tapped my first keg Oh,
- 12:39Speaker 1: now you would think Fred, you went to college. But
- 12:43Speaker 1: this is a real keg. These are the wooden kegs
- 12:46Speaker 1: with the brass spout. You have a big, big wooden
- 12:49Speaker 1: mallet and you slam the spout into the keg. And
- 12:52Speaker 1: that's where the term tapping a keg comes into and
- 12:56Speaker 1: so tap that app So I tapped my first keg.
- 12:59Speaker 1: That so you're saying in college when I many times
- 13:02Speaker 1: he had just kind of pushing twist that that doesn't count.
- 13:04Speaker 1: I haven't tapped it yet. I haven't tapped I never
- 13:06Speaker 1: even did that. No, you just showed up. My people
- 13:09Speaker 1: did it for me. I showed up with the baseball groupies.
- 13:13Speaker 1: I showed up with my cup. Oh your your beer cup?
- 13:16Speaker 1: I got you. Um, but you know um. Hopefully the
- 13:20Speaker 1: Patriots will have a game there next year. I don't
- 13:22Speaker 1: know if it's going to be Munich or fact Frankfurt,
- 13:25Speaker 1: but one of those two cities. But well, we'll hope
- 13:28Speaker 1: to have a game there year. I'm excited. That sounds uh,
- 13:31Speaker 1: that sounds pretty cool for the for the game, and
- 13:33Speaker 1: I mean German fans signal. I mean that's why I
- 13:35Speaker 1: lost my voice. We were out every yelling. Yeah, the
- 13:38Speaker 1: music was so loud, you know, you're yelling every night,
- 13:41Speaker 1: So who are you yelling with you? You just talk,
- 13:43Speaker 1: You're trying to talk, and but you have to have
- 13:45Speaker 1: to get defensive, guys. Watch later. And I told her
- 13:49Speaker 1: music was so loud you have to like raise your voice.
- 13:51Speaker 1: So like, yeah, yeah, but where you are, but you're back.
- 13:54Speaker 1: It was Craig Craig Cray. Yeah, well all right, eight
- 13:59Speaker 1: five five past five hundred is the a ticket hutline
- 14:01Speaker 1: web radio. Where did you watch the game from? I
- 14:04Speaker 1: was in the stands in just as a regular. Yeah.
- 14:06Speaker 1: The Patriots had a suite as well, but it was crowded.
- 14:08Speaker 1: You know, they had like sponsors and all, and you know,
- 14:10Speaker 1: so that's not for you. So I had a good
- 14:12Speaker 1: move by, Yeah, out amongst the people. I had a ticket.
- 14:15Speaker 1: I had a ticket. I sat in the two hundred
- 14:17Speaker 1: section just with all the fans and it was great.
- 14:19Speaker 1: So the first time I think I've watched an NFL
- 14:21Speaker 1: game as a fan in over thirty years. That's pretty cool. Yeah,
- 14:26Speaker 1: And did you feel like the fans were locked in
- 14:28Speaker 1: of the you know, I mean cheering at the appropriate times,
- 14:31Speaker 1: knowing like you know, they were locked in one London.
- 14:33Speaker 1: I remember the first game in London. They cheered more
- 14:35Speaker 1: for the field goals, and they did the touchdowns yea
- 14:38Speaker 1: here they they got the rules. Yeah yeah, And would
- 14:42Speaker 1: you say it was just a great cross section over
- 14:44Speaker 1: all the fans. Yeah, that's like, you know, just like
- 14:46Speaker 1: Super Bowls, you see fans and all kinds of different
- 14:49Speaker 1: NFL gear. But I think other than the Bucks and Seahawks,
- 14:52Speaker 1: I think US Green Bay or the two other teams
- 14:57Speaker 1: that had the most people are they are they at home?
- 15:00Speaker 1: Germany's home for Tampa US and Carolina and US UM Seahawks. No,
- 15:07Speaker 1: I'm not Buccaneers, Carolina US in Kansas City, Kansas City.
- 15:13Speaker 1: It's some competition. Yeah, well, I know Kansas City's on
- 15:18Speaker 1: our schedule next year, but they'll probably split us up.
- 15:21Speaker 1: They'll probably be two games in Germany. We play the
- 15:24Speaker 1: we play a team from the NFC South, and if
- 15:26Speaker 1: it's the Panthers, will probably play them in Germany, and
- 15:29Speaker 1: then that'd be two teams then. Yeah. So all right, yeah,
- 15:33Speaker 1: I'm gonna gather. But first, what else we got about
- 15:36Speaker 1: the Jets? Uh? Wait, we play the NFC South next year.
- 15:40Speaker 1: We play a team depending on our schedule, depending our record,
- 15:44Speaker 1: will play a team for the yeah, I misunderstood. Yeah,
- 15:49Speaker 1: so yeah, yeah, that's the Buffalo game. We could do
- 15:53Speaker 1: a whole show on like it was just so wild.
- 15:55Speaker 1: How do you ridiculous like that? I told Paul I choke.
- 15:59Speaker 1: I was back to Super Bowl forty nine after the
- 16:02Speaker 1: Malcolm go thing, and then I even caught I think
- 16:04Speaker 1: it was on the pregame last night. This is some
- 16:06Speaker 1: of the highlights. This is darkness, like he and Mike's
- 16:09Speaker 1: not lying. He came to me, he goes this first
- 16:11Speaker 1: thing I thought it was like, you know, after the
- 16:13Speaker 1: Malcolm Like the first thing that went through your mind
- 16:15Speaker 1: after Malcolm Butler intercepted the ball is, oh, no, we
- 16:18Speaker 1: better not fumble the snap. Do you know how traumatized
- 16:21Speaker 1: I was by the time we got to that exact
- 16:23Speaker 1: moment in time after like the helmet catch. I know,
- 16:28Speaker 1: but nothing like that ever happened. It was something bizarre. No, no, no,
- 16:32Speaker 1: I was just ready, like a bobbled catch can happen
- 16:35Speaker 1: when the other team has the ball, they can score. Right,
- 16:38Speaker 1: you have the ball and just need to take a
- 16:40Speaker 1: snap and take a knee and the game is over right.
- 16:43Speaker 1: That's like, that's Joe Pisarchik. You have to go back
- 16:46Speaker 1: forty years for something like that Tony Romo bobbling the
- 16:49Speaker 1: snap on the field goal. I stepped away after the
- 16:53Speaker 1: fourth down stop, you know, went into the kitchen for
- 16:56Speaker 1: a second, and then I came back and all the
- 16:58Speaker 1: Minnesota guys are celebrating. I'm like, what could have possibly
- 17:01Speaker 1: just happened? And I mean that was how that game was.
- 17:04Speaker 1: Twists and turns and you know, a great game to watch.
- 17:08Speaker 1: Thee buffalo comes out right down my favorite thing. And
- 17:14Speaker 1: there wasn't a ground swell of this, but I did
- 17:16Speaker 1: see a couple of people and I think they actually
- 17:18Speaker 1: mentioned it on the broadcast. Why not just take a safety?
- 17:22Speaker 1: I mean, you insane take a safety so the other
- 17:24Speaker 1: team has forty five seconds, they're gonna take a field
- 17:27Speaker 1: goal to win the game, right, Like you feel good
- 17:29Speaker 1: about that scenario, the way that game was going, right,
- 17:32Speaker 1: But I think no chance. Now. Didn't the Patriots, I
- 17:34Speaker 1: believe in Super Bowl forty nine, did the hard count
- 17:38Speaker 1: to try to did he just didn't work? Yeah, they don't.
- 17:42Speaker 1: They didn't have the head bob that Brady did. So
- 17:44Speaker 1: I mean, I just I don't want to say concerns,
- 17:47Speaker 1: but like, I think this is kind of an issue
- 17:48Speaker 1: right now for Josh Allen kind of forcing stuff a
- 17:51Speaker 1: little bit. And you know, it just seems like he's
- 17:52Speaker 1: choking through a little thing right now. And you know,
- 17:54Speaker 1: you know what I think of Josh Allen. Okay, I
- 17:57Speaker 1: I think he's tremendous. But there's some thing I believe
- 18:01Speaker 1: they are now two and eight in their last ten
- 18:03Speaker 1: one score games. That's not a coincidence. You can't be
- 18:06Speaker 1: the better team and find a way to lose all
- 18:08Speaker 1: the time when it's when it's a close game and
- 18:12Speaker 1: it's it'd be one thing if it was like back
- 18:14Speaker 1: and forth, then you just find a way to lose
- 18:16Speaker 1: at the end, and you'd be like, well, you know,
- 18:18Speaker 1: they can't get over the hump. They have problems doing
- 18:21Speaker 1: the mundane. Yeah, Like you can't kick off with thirteen
- 18:27Speaker 1: seconds left. You can't just kick off and have that,
- 18:30Speaker 1: you know, be the end of the game. No, you'll
- 18:33Speaker 1: let the other team go down and get a field goal.
- 18:34Speaker 1: You can't just take a snap and take a knee.
- 18:37Speaker 1: I don't care that you're on the one yard line.
- 18:39Speaker 1: That doesn't really do anything right one yard All do
- 18:41Speaker 1: is take the snap and just make sure you plot
- 18:44Speaker 1: leward you're not gonna lose yards on your center. Yeah,
- 18:48Speaker 1: like you're not trying, you're not scraping for every last yard.
- 18:51Speaker 1: Where you're reaching the ball out, you're taking the snap,
- 18:53Speaker 1: you're tucking the ball away and you and you're leaning forward. No,
- 18:56Speaker 1: by the way, you're six five two forty. Like it's
- 18:59Speaker 1: like they'd have been better off in the shotgun just
- 19:01Speaker 1: having him pick a hole right right then do that? Yeah,
- 19:04Speaker 1: I think that's great. It's embarrassing. And listen again, I'm
- 19:08Speaker 1: not telling you that Josh Allen's a choker. I'm not
- 19:10Speaker 1: telling you that Josh Allen stinks he's overrated. I'm just
- 19:13Speaker 1: saying it's embarrassing that they couldn't take a snap and
- 19:16Speaker 1: Neil and the ball to end the game. That's embarrassing.
- 19:19Speaker 1: I love how you said problems with the mundane. I
- 19:21Speaker 1: think that that's that's them, and I don't think it
- 19:23Speaker 1: always works because I think that's kind of how the
- 19:25Speaker 1: Patriots view them too. Of Like, and I heard, uh
- 19:29Speaker 1: is it Josh Boyer, the Dolphins defensive coordinator that used
- 19:32Speaker 1: to be here. I heard him in their game. He
- 19:34Speaker 1: was miked up, just saying similar things that I think
- 19:36Speaker 1: you've heard the Patriots say like they're gonna get bored,
- 19:39Speaker 1: They're gonna get frustrated just taking the short stuff. They
- 19:42Speaker 1: need to make those big plays. I thought Paul's just
- 19:44Speaker 1: mundane comment kind of echo with me, is it gonna
- 19:47Speaker 1: be enough? But for right now, if I'm them, I'm
- 19:49Speaker 1: looking at Miami going, we got we got real competition
- 19:52Speaker 1: right now, we got real competition. And I mean, kid,
- 19:55Speaker 1: it's it's legit. Miami can keep up with them. It
- 19:58Speaker 1: looks like anyway, you know, they can keep up with
- 20:01Speaker 1: these guys. Yeah, it would be interesting to see how
- 20:04Speaker 1: that unfolds. But I think Buffalo's problem is Buffalo and
- 20:07Speaker 1: they like I think if Buffalo is right, that there's
- 20:11Speaker 1: not a team that can touch them in that division.
- 20:13Speaker 1: I don't really think in that in the conference either.
- 20:17Speaker 1: I think Kansas City is a mark, you know, well
- 20:20Speaker 1: below them if if they're right. But the problem is,
- 20:26Speaker 1: you know, whether it's that they get bored, like Mike said,
- 20:28Speaker 1: you know, like talking about Josh Boyer, or just you know,
- 20:34Speaker 1: an inability to sort of recognize key moments. And I
- 20:37Speaker 1: think if you look at that game, and again, I'm
- 20:39Speaker 1: not killing Buffalo here, I'm just pointing out some things
- 20:42Speaker 1: that were really bad that Buffalo did in this game.
- 20:45Speaker 1: I'm not telling you that Buffalo stinks. Please don't take
- 20:47Speaker 1: it the wrong way like I'm telling you that the Bills.
- 20:50Speaker 1: Evan will say that, you know, the Bills blow now
- 20:53Speaker 1: because they lost a game they had no business losing.
- 20:56Speaker 1: But there were so many junctures in the game. So
- 21:00Speaker 1: you take a seventeen point lead with like a minute
- 21:02Speaker 1: and a half two minutes left in the third quarter,
- 21:04Speaker 1: and they just have a routine pitch out that goes
- 21:06Speaker 1: eighty one yards untouched. That can't happen, right, Like, literally,
- 21:10Speaker 1: all they have to do is make the make the
- 21:13Speaker 1: vikings go ten plays seventy five yards eighty one yards
- 21:16Speaker 1: in this case, ten plays eighty one yards. Now it's
- 21:19Speaker 1: like ten minutes left in the game and you're up
- 21:21Speaker 1: by ten as opposed to one play later, they go
- 21:23Speaker 1: eighty one yards on a running play untouched. That can't happen,
- 21:27Speaker 1: as McDermott, you know. Then they come back and they
- 21:30Speaker 1: go right down the field and they have a second
- 21:34Speaker 1: and two third and two fourth and two no runs.
- 21:39Speaker 1: They're just gonna you know, And on the second and
- 21:41Speaker 1: two play, it's a little screen they had set up
- 21:43Speaker 1: that got blown up in Josh Allen again, I love
- 21:46Speaker 1: Josh Allen. They blew it up and he just throws
- 21:49Speaker 1: it away. You're a horse. Just run around the end
- 21:52Speaker 1: and get the first down. Yeah, why are you giving
- 21:55Speaker 1: up on the play. He wasn't under pressure. Don't overthink
- 21:57Speaker 1: it like and then use your instincts. You're up ten.
- 22:02Speaker 1: I don't understand why this is the case now in
- 22:05Speaker 1: the NFL. In the modern NFL, field goals are bad.
- 22:09Speaker 1: You can't kick field goals, so you don't kick the
- 22:12Speaker 1: field goal, and you stay up ten instead of going
- 22:15Speaker 1: up thirteen. Right, you know, make them get two touchdowns
- 22:19Speaker 1: and get both extra points to beat you, which they
- 22:22Speaker 1: ultimately didn't do. They missed one of the extra points.
- 22:25Speaker 1: So there was a lot of different things in that game,
- 22:27Speaker 1: you know. And then don't even get me started. On
- 22:30Speaker 1: fourth and eighteen, the guy goes through an interception, like,
- 22:34Speaker 1: just knocked the ball down. Dumb thing, just dumb situation.
- 22:38Speaker 1: You happen to watch the German game, I got a
- 22:41Speaker 1: good I watched the very beginning and then I watched
- 22:44Speaker 1: the first half when when Brady was taking a knee
- 22:47Speaker 1: and idiot was calling timeouts. Yeah, thank you. Yeah, what
- 22:51Speaker 1: the hell was he doing? Yeah, it's like, so they
- 22:54Speaker 1: had the ball, they had a punt that got down
- 22:56Speaker 1: at the one yard line with like say, twenty five
- 22:58Speaker 1: seconds left in the half. See, I'll had two timeouts, right,
- 23:01Speaker 1: one knee does it? Brady just takes a knee and
- 23:03Speaker 1: they called times. Then they take another knee, he calls
- 23:07Speaker 1: another time. It's like and then the third time. You know,
- 23:09Speaker 1: it looked like Brady just wanted to rifle the ball
- 23:10Speaker 1: across the field right off. It's like, what are you doing?
- 23:14Speaker 1: Can't beat But again, like, as long as there's the
- 23:17Speaker 1: one time where Josh Allen does what he did Sunday,
- 23:21Speaker 1: I guess that's gonna win power bozos for wasting everybody's time.
- 23:23Speaker 1: I could see if it was like the Super Bowl. Yeah,
- 23:26Speaker 1: you know, like you use them, you know, you you know,
- 23:28Speaker 1: but oh my god, I was like, Pete, what are
- 23:31Speaker 1: you doing? If that was a night game here, we
- 23:33Speaker 1: would be very mad up in the press box. I
- 23:34Speaker 1: was mad just watching at home. Yeah, what did you
- 23:38Speaker 1: think about them going for two at the end, that
- 23:40Speaker 1: that was in the right play, That wasn't the right
- 23:44Speaker 1: You're you're down twelve exactly. So they ultimately got the
- 23:47Speaker 1: ball back with a chance the head and again right,
- 23:50Speaker 1: and they needed two touchdowns instead of a touchdown in
- 23:52Speaker 1: the field exactly. I know they'll tell you what they needed,
- 23:55Speaker 1: a two point or anyway. It doesn't get I get it.
- 23:57Speaker 1: I get it. But I know you could have prolonged
- 24:00Speaker 1: the game and you didn't. I was thinking the same thing, Paul.
- 24:03Speaker 1: And then when Brady throws the pick, yeah, you know
- 24:07Speaker 1: you're Brady throws his first pick in four hundred passes
- 24:09Speaker 1: and you can't even benefit a firm because you're still
- 24:11Speaker 1: down two touchdowns? Right right? Would you guys think of Minnesota?
- 24:16Speaker 1: I mean, as that's stacking up for you know, change.
- 24:18Speaker 1: They showed some toughness. But yeah, people are gonna make
- 24:23Speaker 1: fun of me. I still like I still watched kerk
- 24:26Speaker 1: Cuttins throw the ball right to the other team a
- 24:28Speaker 1: couple of times. It didn't really seem like anything was
- 24:31Speaker 1: going except for Justin Jefferson making incredible individual plays. I mean,
- 24:37Speaker 1: they were a good team. That's a good team. You
- 24:39Speaker 1: can't say an eaton one team is not good. I
- 24:41Speaker 1: just don't think they're great, and I still think that
- 24:43Speaker 1: they're very lucky very lucky. The one good thing that
- 24:47Speaker 1: I think they came out of this, I think without
- 24:49Speaker 1: I haven't read too much about this, but I didn't
- 24:52Speaker 1: really see a lot of changes and differences in the
- 24:54Speaker 1: way Josh Allen played physically, did you know. I mean,
- 24:58Speaker 1: I didn't think he was like, didn't practice all week.
- 25:00Speaker 1: I didn't think he was gunning it around like he
- 25:02Speaker 1: normally does. But he's gonna be He's gonna make it.
- 25:05Speaker 1: He threw for three hundred and thirty yards. He felt
- 25:08Speaker 1: right on it a couple of times too. Ya seemed
- 25:10Speaker 1: like he was favorite it or protecting. He looked like
- 25:12Speaker 1: after the first interception that he threw on the fourth
- 25:14Speaker 1: down play, it's not about impact, it's about strain, right, yeah, right,
- 25:21Speaker 1: And I mean it's I'm sure it's not feeling great.
- 25:23Speaker 1: But for a guy not to practice all week and
- 25:25Speaker 1: still play like that, and even like the last throw
- 25:28Speaker 1: that was picked off, like if if you're gonna try
- 25:30Speaker 1: to even make that throw, I gotta imagine you feel
- 25:32Speaker 1: okay about how it feels. By that point, it's another overtime,
- 25:35Speaker 1: another bad another bad situation. Though it's like you're just
- 25:39Speaker 1: moving the ball at will right down the field. They
- 25:42Speaker 1: had a play on first down, they took a shot
- 25:43Speaker 1: in the end zone. It was there, and there was
- 25:45Speaker 1: blatant pass in afference. They didn't call on Minnesota, so
- 25:49Speaker 1: then they just go right back to the end zone.
- 25:50Speaker 1: I thought that was a drop by Matt right from
- 25:52Speaker 1: the twenty five yard line ish right, Yeah, just like
- 25:55Speaker 1: run a play yet a little closer. And you know,
- 25:59Speaker 1: at the very at least they should have said to themselves,
- 26:01Speaker 1: we're either going to kick a field goal and tie
- 26:03Speaker 1: this game as time expires, or we're gonna give ourselves
- 26:06Speaker 1: a chance to win it. Why did they have to
- 26:08Speaker 1: win it from the twenty five? Like I just think,
- 26:12Speaker 1: and that's Josh Allen Like that to me is part
- 26:15Speaker 1: that's gonna be at least partly fall on Josh Allen shoulders.
- 26:18Speaker 1: Yeah again, I'm not killing him. I'm not telling you
- 26:21Speaker 1: he's overrated. I'm not telling you any of that crap.
- 26:23Speaker 1: He's excellent. Yeah, but he I think that's like multiple
- 26:26Speaker 1: deceptions in like three games in a row. He eats
- 26:29Speaker 1: a little loose with the ball. He's turning into a
- 26:31Speaker 1: little passn't been, yeah, but he has been lately. He's
- 26:33Speaker 1: turning a little bit into Brett Farve, you know, a
- 26:36Speaker 1: little bit, you know, a little bit um returnovers for him,
- 26:40Speaker 1: you know, down the stretch of that game, you know,
- 26:42Speaker 1: two in the fourth quarter, one and overtime, Like you
- 26:44Speaker 1: can't have that. The other thing, we talked about it
- 26:46Speaker 1: last week and I'm kind of and I We're talking
- 26:49Speaker 1: about the Jeff Saturday and I said, you know, that
- 26:52Speaker 1: was the wrong thing to do. You don't do that.
- 26:54Speaker 1: Now I wish I didn't wasn't strong because now I
- 26:57Speaker 1: mean the hue and cry about how you know Arthsay
- 27:00Speaker 1: violated this whole thing. I still think it was kind
- 27:04Speaker 1: of you know, you don't do that. But he ends
- 27:06Speaker 1: up winning the game, you know, but people are still
- 27:10Speaker 1: saying that, you know, it was just an insult to
- 27:12Speaker 1: the coaching fraternity to have hired him. It just depends
- 27:17Speaker 1: on the context. I guess, you know, if Ersay made
- 27:19Speaker 1: it clear to the team that it's just a placeholder, Yeah,
- 27:22Speaker 1: I just need somebody for this year and then we'll
- 27:25Speaker 1: go through the normal channels next year. But I mean
- 27:29Speaker 1: that was a big topic. You know. Of course, you know,
- 27:31Speaker 1: they won the game, so everybody was talking about it
- 27:34Speaker 1: or Josh Man, they're just struggling. Well, I guess um, uh,
- 27:41Speaker 1: you know what's his name? The owner Davis came out
- 27:43Speaker 1: and gave him a vote of confidence. But you know,
- 27:46Speaker 1: we'll see. I think you can't fire him after one year.
- 27:50Speaker 1: You gotta really, Oh absolutely, I'm not telling you I would,
- 27:54Speaker 1: but I could. Yeah, but you'd have to be like
- 27:56Speaker 1: a real idiot, right. I think if he's lost the
- 28:00Speaker 1: locker room, like, I mean, that team won whatever it
- 28:04Speaker 1: was ten games last year and made the playoffs, true
- 28:06Speaker 1: with an interim head coach, and now he comes in
- 28:09Speaker 1: by all accounts, with an improved roster and they're two
- 28:13Speaker 1: and seven. Yeah, that's that's true. It's if you put
- 28:16Speaker 1: it that way, then it's not like he took over
- 28:18Speaker 1: a two and fourteen teen Yeah. How much is Ziegler
- 28:21Speaker 1: being there complicate that? Though? Yeah, I don't think he's
- 28:23Speaker 1: going anywhere. I think he's I think I believe Mark
- 28:27Speaker 1: Davis when that voter conference. Now, Jim mrs. They did
- 28:30Speaker 1: the same thing to Frank Reich and fired him like
- 28:32Speaker 1: a five days later. You know, I mean, Chris and
- 28:35Speaker 1: Frank I have a wonderful relationship with him. They're not
- 28:37Speaker 1: going anywhere. But then he fired him now I kind
- 28:40Speaker 1: of think that Reich demanded that Matt Ryan play and
- 28:45Speaker 1: that's why he and it was as much of a
- 28:47Speaker 1: resignation as a fire in my in my mind. No
- 28:50Speaker 1: no knowledge whatsoever on that, just my feel. And then
- 28:54Speaker 1: I think he might have gone to Jeff Saturday and said,
- 28:57Speaker 1: you know, I need you to come in and do this,
- 28:59Speaker 1: and maybe say Day said, yeah, I'll clean up your mess,
- 29:01Speaker 1: but you gotta let me play the best, the best play.
- 29:04Speaker 1: You know, why don't you? Yeah? Right, because I think
- 29:08Speaker 1: that would happen with with Jim Mursey is People rightly
- 29:12Speaker 1: said this isn't right what he's doing. It's clearly to
- 29:15Speaker 1: save money with the whole situation with Matt Ryan and
- 29:18Speaker 1: his playing time was going to kick in for next
- 29:21Speaker 1: year's salary in seventeen million or something, and I think
- 29:24Speaker 1: it the spotlight was on and he and he felt
- 29:27Speaker 1: the heat and he was like okay, And then Saturday said,
- 29:30Speaker 1: if you want me to do this, you want me
- 29:31Speaker 1: to clean up your mess, you at least gotta let me.
- 29:34Speaker 1: Gotta give me a shot, because right now I'm a
- 29:36Speaker 1: laughing stock. People think I'm not going to have a chance,
- 29:38Speaker 1: and I don't think that Jeff Saturday proved a damn
- 29:41Speaker 1: thing on Sunday other than the Colts are not a
- 29:44Speaker 1: bad team when they're out there, when the actual Colts play,
- 29:47Speaker 1: they're not a bad team. They have a winning record
- 29:49Speaker 1: with Matt Ryan and Jonathan Taylor, right, you know, like
- 29:52Speaker 1: everybody looked at the game that they played against the
- 29:53Speaker 1: Patriots and they said, oh my god, that team could
- 29:55Speaker 1: never win a game. I agree that team would never
- 29:57Speaker 1: win the game in the NFL. That team didn't play Sunday,
- 30:00Speaker 1: like to Josh. In Josh's defense, he didn't get a
- 30:03Speaker 1: chance to play the Colts that played the previous week. Yeah,
- 30:06Speaker 1: you know, but that team can play with Taylor and Ryan.
- 30:10Speaker 1: I wonder if they might even make a little bit
- 30:11Speaker 1: of a push here. Now I'm not saying that they will,
- 30:14Speaker 1: but they could and if and if they get themselves
- 30:16Speaker 1: in the playoff, Pitcher say, like a month from now,
- 30:20Speaker 1: you're gonna look back at those two games that they
- 30:21Speaker 1: just gave away, you know, putting Sam Ellinger. But if
- 30:24Speaker 1: they do make a push, do you consider hiring Saturday
- 30:28Speaker 1: full time? I don't know, it's gonna be tough. Yeah,
- 30:30Speaker 1: if they do, I'm not saying he doesn't deserve it.
- 30:32Speaker 1: Is that a good thing or a bad thing for
- 30:34Speaker 1: NFL coaching to have a guy who's never done it
- 30:36Speaker 1: come right in and be successful. I just think that
- 30:38Speaker 1: whenever you do this, there's just a weird period that
- 30:41Speaker 1: they doesn't really reflect who the coaches. It's just kind
- 30:43Speaker 1: of like, how does the team kind of respond to
- 30:45Speaker 1: this situation yet? Like the Panthers going through it too,
- 30:48Speaker 1: Like I don't know. I mean, you can maybe talk
- 30:50Speaker 1: about was a guy Rick Bisaccia was that who filled
- 30:53Speaker 1: Inchia filled in last year? I mean, that's kind of
- 30:55Speaker 1: an interesting one where he got into the playoffs. But
- 30:57Speaker 1: those guys were coaches. Yeah, this guy's not. That's a
- 31:01Speaker 1: unique guy like Steve Wilkes. This is it wasn't. He's
- 31:03Speaker 1: the guy, the interim guy in Carolina. It's not even
- 31:06Speaker 1: his first job. He's been a head coach before. That
- 31:10Speaker 1: is unique. Rispassage has had a wealth of NFL experience,
- 31:13Speaker 1: but people have really been up on their high horse.
- 31:17Speaker 1: Oh yeah, Oh Bill Cower, I was supposed it was
- 31:21Speaker 1: like PC seemed very very upset about it. Yeah, all right,
- 31:26Speaker 1: eight five five past five hundred as taken hot line,
- 31:29Speaker 1: um anything else before we go to the listeners just
- 31:33Speaker 1: gearing up for the Jets. I mean that's uh, you know,
- 31:35Speaker 1: guys talked yesterday. I just liked, you know, hearing from Slater.
- 31:37Speaker 1: I mean, everybody seems to understand every game is really
- 31:40Speaker 1: really big at this point, and oh yeah, you know
- 31:42Speaker 1: it's just is this a must win the Jets game?
- 31:45Speaker 1: I think it is. I think it is. I mean
- 31:46Speaker 1: if you want to make the playoffs, yeah, yeah, I
- 31:49Speaker 1: mean it's I think a lot of you know, debate
- 31:51Speaker 1: now of of what do you got to hit to
- 31:54Speaker 1: get in. I think the most important thing about beating
- 31:56Speaker 1: the Jets is if you do end up in a
- 31:58Speaker 1: tie with them for a wild card, you've got it. Yeah,
- 32:01Speaker 1: because you've beat him twice. Yeah, and that and it's
- 32:03Speaker 1: a small group of teams. It feels like you're going
- 32:04Speaker 1: to be in the mix with But I mean, in
- 32:06Speaker 1: some ways, I think this game is for last place
- 32:08Speaker 1: in the AFC East. I mean that, you know, if
- 32:10Speaker 1: you the loser of this game, I think probably going
- 32:12Speaker 1: to be in the last place. If you're five and
- 32:14Speaker 1: five and then the rest of the division is seven
- 32:16Speaker 1: and three, you're in trouble. Oh yeah, because you get
- 32:20Speaker 1: three teams ahead of you, you know, two teams ahead
- 32:22Speaker 1: of you for the wild card. Yeah, but I think
- 32:25Speaker 1: it's uh, you know, I think people are wondering out
- 32:27Speaker 1: as four and four get it done, and I think
- 32:29Speaker 1: that's you know, the cusp of probably not, probably not.
- 32:33Speaker 1: I mean it, so I think they're gonna do five
- 32:36Speaker 1: and three. I just think looking at the schedule for
- 32:38Speaker 1: these last eight games, that the Patriots are going to
- 32:40Speaker 1: be successful. They're gonna have to do things that they
- 32:42Speaker 1: they haven't been able to do the last three years.
- 32:44Speaker 1: They're gonna have to be They're probably gonna have to
- 32:46Speaker 1: steal I mean, I don't even want to get into
- 32:48Speaker 1: the two Buffalo in Miami games because I feel like
- 32:50Speaker 1: those are the tallest orders. But those other games, like
- 32:54Speaker 1: you have to you have to win them, you have to.
- 32:57Speaker 1: Supposedly at practice he was back. Yeah, Parker back, and
- 33:03Speaker 1: that's been David Andrews. No sign of any of our guys.
- 33:06Speaker 1: But Barmore, I mean, so you do have some pieces
- 33:09Speaker 1: maybe give you a little boost you Maybe this could
- 33:10Speaker 1: be the opposite of last year where they came back
- 33:12Speaker 1: from the buy and they tanked, and then this year
- 33:15Speaker 1: maybe they get better. Yeah, who knows. I mean, I
- 33:18Speaker 1: went back looked a little bit just about the last
- 33:20Speaker 1: three years, because I think, you know, they've really just
- 33:23Speaker 1: faded in the last three seasons. And I mean, you know,
- 33:25Speaker 1: a big part of it, like just looking at it,
- 33:27Speaker 1: lack of lack of takeaways on defense, it just seems
- 33:29Speaker 1: like the takeaways seemed to completely dry up now toward
- 33:32Speaker 1: the end of the season. So I don't you're just
- 33:35Speaker 1: I think the biggest thing is just hoping that the
- 33:37Speaker 1: offense can suddenly look competent, you know, can suddenly look
- 33:41Speaker 1: like they can win some of these games, because I
- 33:43Speaker 1: don't I don't know how they win more than one
- 33:46Speaker 1: or two of them if their offense doesn't suddenly start
- 33:49Speaker 1: playing much better than we've seen them play over these
- 33:52Speaker 1: three months. Going back into training camp, all right, let's
- 33:56Speaker 1: let's start talking to the listeners. Maybe you should read
- 34:00Speaker 1: the emails. I don't know if I should. Yeah, all right,
- 34:03Speaker 1: but anyway, we'll start with Patty and Agawam. What's up, Patty,
- 34:07Speaker 1: I'm sitting here still in disbelief that Pauli's never tapped
- 34:10Speaker 1: the kig before. Not the way you do it in Germany,
- 34:15Speaker 1: the real way. Had a couple of questions um, pump
- 34:21Speaker 1: the kick and I'll think them both, you know, off
- 34:24Speaker 1: the air. But to me, I see this too. But like,
- 34:28Speaker 1: I think one of the bigger problems with Mac is
- 34:31Speaker 1: it looks like he's trying to escape the pocket instead
- 34:34Speaker 1: of stepping up into it and not keeping his eyes
- 34:37Speaker 1: down field. And um, well it's there's no place to
- 34:40Speaker 1: step up at I mean the last few games, there
- 34:42Speaker 1: hasn't been any place to step up, you know. So yeah,
- 34:46Speaker 1: but even before I mean before the Anders injury, I
- 34:50Speaker 1: wanted to hear what you guys thought about that, and
- 34:52Speaker 1: I agree, I think pocket presence has been a problem
- 34:54Speaker 1: for Yeah, he does look a little frantic back there,
- 34:58Speaker 1: drifting into pressure. Sometimes frantic feels like ye, thinking back
- 35:02Speaker 1: some of those early games where it felt like, why
- 35:04Speaker 1: are you going right? That's where the pressures, You're walking
- 35:06Speaker 1: right into it. I agree. I just I don't think
- 35:09Speaker 1: there hasn't been a lot of cases this year when
- 35:11Speaker 1: they get pressure where he like makes a little subtle
- 35:13Speaker 1: step and delivers the ball. It just feels like once
- 35:16Speaker 1: there's pressure and it breaks down. Even in Iota, he's
- 35:19Speaker 1: kind of that that's it, you know. Yeah, all right, Patty.
- 35:26Speaker 1: The second question is do you think anybody, any prognasticator analysts,
- 35:31Speaker 1: predicted the AFC to be this competitive and possibly the
- 35:34Speaker 1: best division in football. Well, I think a lot of
- 35:36Speaker 1: people thought it'd be really competitive, and no one saw
- 35:38Speaker 1: the Jets doing this, right, that's no, I don't I
- 35:40Speaker 1: don't know anybody that said, you know what, watch out
- 35:43Speaker 1: for the Jets. I don't know one person. No one
- 35:44Speaker 1: said that. But I think, you know the arms race
- 35:47Speaker 1: that happened in the AFC West. I think people thought
- 35:49Speaker 1: that Broncos would be better, the Charges would be better.
- 35:52Speaker 1: And he was asking if anyone saw the AFC East.
- 35:54Speaker 1: I thought, I thought he meant the East. Oh yeah, No,
- 36:00Speaker 1: nobody thought that Jets. I didn't know. I don't know
- 36:02Speaker 1: anybody who saw the Jets being a playoff contender. And
- 36:05Speaker 1: I just felt unsure of what TOUA would look like
- 36:08Speaker 1: with full health and now Tyreek Hill involved, and obviously
- 36:12Speaker 1: it's it's worked out marvelously for them. All right, Thanks, Patty,
- 36:17Speaker 1: appreciate the call. You want to read some emails, Yeah,
- 36:22Speaker 1: there you go. You got a lot of emails, A
- 36:24Speaker 1: lot of emails. How to work I tried to how
- 36:26Speaker 1: to work the microscopt I do and last time I
- 36:29Speaker 1: tried to say that and Paul left me hanging on
- 36:31Speaker 1: the Why didn't you read some of them? Oh? Sorry, yeah,
- 36:33Speaker 1: I didn't know what the uh did you pull this
- 36:36Speaker 1: one up from Travis? Did you want me to read it?
- 36:38Speaker 1: I was just going I go through them while people
- 36:40Speaker 1: are talking, Oh this, Uh, I'm not going to read
- 36:42Speaker 1: that one though. Okay, all right, these are good radio.
- 36:47Speaker 1: I'm trying to find some good ones. Here are here's going? Um? Hi, guys,
- 36:52Speaker 1: this is from Philippe and Rio de Janeiro. What would
- 36:55Speaker 1: be a realistic expectation for improvement of the offense after
- 36:57Speaker 1: the bye week? Any radical change in the playbook? Better execution?
- 37:00Speaker 1: Thank you well. Even Bill says that you have to
- 37:02Speaker 1: make scheme adjustment, you know, So what does that exactly mean?
- 37:07Speaker 1: I don't know, but you know we are going to
- 37:10Speaker 1: see changes, I'm pretty sure, you know. I don't know
- 37:12Speaker 1: if it's going to be Evan's r PO thing or
- 37:15Speaker 1: or flopping the low line, yeah, or more personnel related,
- 37:19Speaker 1: but I think we will see changes. That was an
- 37:21Speaker 1: interesting conversation we had Fred while you were out on Thursday. Evan,
- 37:24Speaker 1: Paul and I talking about the offensive line, and I
- 37:27Speaker 1: thought these guys kind of had an interesting thing of
- 37:29Speaker 1: um of not flopping the tackles, but flopping on when
- 37:32Speaker 1: you and Win and putting Win at right guard and
- 37:34Speaker 1: putting on when you back at right tackle. And I
- 37:37Speaker 1: thought that was kind of an interesting switch. And a
- 37:39Speaker 1: lot of people are talking about, hey do you do
- 37:40Speaker 1: you reflip the tackles again, But then you're kind of
- 37:44Speaker 1: left with Isaiah Win not playing great clostering, it's not
- 37:47Speaker 1: playing great on your left side, and then probably your
- 37:49Speaker 1: two most consistent guys on the right side. So I
- 37:52Speaker 1: don't know, I thought that was kind of an interesting conversation.
- 37:55Speaker 1: At some point, you got to settle, you know, you
- 37:58Speaker 1: got to settle that line. Yeah. I think that's that's
- 38:00Speaker 1: what we kind of jumped off on Thursday, is they
- 38:03Speaker 1: didn't need to They need to settle on the five
- 38:04Speaker 1: guys they want to play and just kind of leave
- 38:06Speaker 1: it alone if healthy. And that's I mean in order
- 38:10Speaker 1: to improve that, the past protection has to get better.
- 38:14Speaker 1: I mean, I don't know about dramatic scheme changes. Yeah,
- 38:18Speaker 1: I mean you're gonna fall into plays you know that
- 38:21Speaker 1: maybe you feel like a little bit better about than
- 38:23Speaker 1: maybe call a little bit more often. But I don't
- 38:26Speaker 1: think you're dramatically going to change your approach. I don't
- 38:30Speaker 1: think you can do that in the middle of the season.
- 38:32Speaker 1: You know, maybe you lean more on some of the player,
- 38:34Speaker 1: you know, maybe get away from the zone runs all
- 38:36Speaker 1: together and just stick with the gap runs that have
- 38:39Speaker 1: been more successful. I don't know. I'm not you know,
- 38:41Speaker 1: I'm not an offensive coordinator. But whatever it is that
- 38:44Speaker 1: you feel like you do a little bit better than
- 38:45Speaker 1: the other things, gravitate to that a little bit more often.
- 38:49Speaker 1: I would like to see them continue to try to
- 38:51Speaker 1: evolve offensively and not just go back into the safe
- 38:54Speaker 1: stuff that that worked last year, you know, to an extent.
- 38:59Speaker 1: I'd to try to fight through these problems and figure
- 39:02Speaker 1: out how to get more explosive offensively. Yeah, I think
- 39:05Speaker 1: they put in any uh like tricky stuff, put in
- 39:08Speaker 1: like the Jacoby Myers. We haven't seen that, Yeah, I
- 39:10Speaker 1: mean you can always see stuff that those kind of
- 39:11Speaker 1: little things. I mean, yeah, but I think how we
- 39:13Speaker 1: thought about it, I mean it's like, oh, I know it,
- 39:16Speaker 1: resorting to it because they have to know. And I'm
- 39:19Speaker 1: not I'm not a post I'm not appost a trick place.
- 39:21Speaker 1: I'm talking about scheme changes, like, that's not a scheme
- 39:25Speaker 1: change to me, to throw a wrinkle in a double yeah,
- 39:29Speaker 1: when you say scheme change, I just feel like, to me,
- 39:31Speaker 1: it's what section of the playbook do you feel like
- 39:33Speaker 1: you need to lean more into? Not we need to
- 39:36Speaker 1: completely start over. It's just probably I think I think,
- 39:41Speaker 1: you know why, you have to ask yourself, why did Bill?
- 39:45Speaker 1: Why did Bill say that? You know, because he usually
- 39:47Speaker 1: doesn't like even though that's pretty broad, he doesn't even
- 39:50Speaker 1: get that pacific speci when did he like? And what
- 39:53Speaker 1: it was? It was a pre buy just a pre
- 39:55Speaker 1: buy press conference, and they said, you know, what will
- 39:57Speaker 1: you be working on? You know, blah blah blah, and
- 40:00Speaker 1: it's like, well, you know, we're going to be making
- 40:01Speaker 1: some scheme adjustments. So I think that's coach speaking well.
- 40:05Speaker 1: I think I think it's him saying I wasn't really
- 40:10Speaker 1: on board with this whole offensive zone thing. You could
- 40:13Speaker 1: have ye be right, but I you know, see, I
- 40:16Speaker 1: do listen to others, and sometimes I let people do
- 40:19Speaker 1: things and then when they fail, I decide that we're
- 40:22Speaker 1: going to go back. Yeah, and I think that's what
- 40:24Speaker 1: he was saying. I just think this is the offensive
- 40:26Speaker 1: performance has been so egregious over these like there's no
- 40:30Speaker 1: secret to it, like like they know it, like they
- 40:33Speaker 1: they were watching when we're watching too. They've been watching
- 40:35Speaker 1: what we've been watching for two months and it's not
- 40:37Speaker 1: like one of those things like where oh are We
- 40:40Speaker 1: just kind of like sometimes I feel like we just
- 40:42Speaker 1: get caught up in a thing and the medium. We're
- 40:44Speaker 1: just you know, going in circles talking about one thing
- 40:46Speaker 1: and we're obsessed with it and in reality, you know,
- 40:48Speaker 1: I think I like I go to like the whole
- 40:50Speaker 1: zone read thing like you know, or zone runs, like
- 40:53Speaker 1: when we were obsessed with that, and you know, how
- 40:55Speaker 1: much are they? Like what is why is everyone so
- 40:57Speaker 1: obsessed with this? Like you know, yeah, it's a little part.
- 40:59Speaker 1: We're trying to do more, but they're acting like this
- 41:01Speaker 1: is like we're reinventing the wheel here. But I think
- 41:03Speaker 1: that this is the offense has been so bad that
- 41:05Speaker 1: like you just you can't sweep it under the rug.
- 41:07Speaker 1: They have to do something. It has to be better.
- 41:09Speaker 1: You're looking at eight games, like the real season is
- 41:11Speaker 1: starting now. If you've got anything in the bag or
- 41:14Speaker 1: any hope of making the playoffs, like now is the
- 41:16Speaker 1: time to figure it out. Let's go back to the emails. Okay,
- 41:22Speaker 1: Oh sorry, is that not appropriate? Liam Scotland Ways writes
- 41:26Speaker 1: in and he feels says, it feels like Judean will
- 41:28Speaker 1: be nailed on for the Pro Bowl. But do you
- 41:30Speaker 1: think he will break tips franchise single season sack record.
- 41:33Speaker 1: I think that it's that eighteen. I think it's eighteen,
- 41:36Speaker 1: and I think Judan is in a half eleven and
- 41:38Speaker 1: a half, so needs seven and eight. Got a shot?
- 41:44Speaker 1: How's that? All you need is one big game? And
- 41:46Speaker 1: then it's gonna be tough, though. I mean you're gonna
- 41:48Speaker 1: get you gotta get Josh Allen down. That's tough. Kyler
- 41:51Speaker 1: Murray not easy to get him down either. There are
- 41:54Speaker 1: some much you do have the Jets coming up this weekend.
- 41:56Speaker 1: You'll probably have two this weekend. You know, give it
- 42:00Speaker 1: to us, Zach Wilson, give it to us, please. I
- 42:03Speaker 1: like it. Like if you're we'll get into it, you
- 42:05Speaker 1: know tomorrow. But if you're the Jets, you know, mission
- 42:10Speaker 1: number one for this game is getting his mind right.
- 42:14Speaker 1: You know, this is what we want you to do.
- 42:17Speaker 1: That's all we want you to do. Don't think of
- 42:19Speaker 1: anything beyond that. You know, to me, mission number one
- 42:22Speaker 1: for the Jets should be We're not going to ask
- 42:24Speaker 1: our quarterback to throw the ball forty plus times, right right.
- 42:27Speaker 1: We're gonna look at the teams that have had success
- 42:29Speaker 1: against the Patriots, and we're gonna try to follow some
- 42:31Speaker 1: of the the blueprint of how teams if we see
- 42:34Speaker 1: a kick a field goal, We're gonna kick a field
- 42:36Speaker 1: when we have a when we have a bad offense,
- 42:38Speaker 1: We're not going to go into the game and pretend
- 42:40Speaker 1: that we have the Bills offense and throw it all
- 42:42Speaker 1: over the yard. We're gonna play to our strengths, run
- 42:45Speaker 1: the ball, punt, kick field goals, and play defense. Yeah,
- 42:50Speaker 1: we didn't mention the Green Bay beating the Cowboys, which
- 42:53Speaker 1: I was mildly surprised about. Well, that was another colossal choke.
- 42:57Speaker 1: I mean, you're seeing Christian Watson here though, too. I mean,
- 42:59Speaker 1: he uh, you know, guy was. I think it just
- 43:01Speaker 1: shows some of the progress of him and the rookies.
- 43:04Speaker 1: I mean, I really liked him coming out three touchdowns,
- 43:06Speaker 1: I mean four catches, but but you know he was
- 43:08Speaker 1: dropping those earlier in the year, So I mean it's
- 43:10Speaker 1: just I thought it showed what I thought would kind
- 43:12Speaker 1: of start to happen a little bit, some of those
- 43:13Speaker 1: young guys him and jobs would get can come on
- 43:16Speaker 1: a little bit. But I don't know if it's too
- 43:18Speaker 1: little too late at this point. For yeah, no, I
- 43:21Speaker 1: think Green Bay's done. But you know, in terms of
- 43:23Speaker 1: like it just shows you how flawed everybody is. Like
- 43:28Speaker 1: I know when people make fun of me, like you
- 43:29Speaker 1: don't think anybody's good, and that's probably largely true. I don't.
- 43:33Speaker 1: I think there are a couple of good teams, and
- 43:35Speaker 1: there are a couple of really bad ones, and then
- 43:37Speaker 1: there's like twenty six teams that are kind of the
- 43:39Speaker 1: same in the middle, you know. And Dallas had no
- 43:43Speaker 1: business losing that yet fourteen point lead in the fourth
- 43:45Speaker 1: quarter against the team that hasn't been able to move
- 43:47Speaker 1: the ball all year long, Like that game's got to
- 43:50Speaker 1: be over and you lose. And it's another team, by
- 43:55Speaker 1: the way, that refuses to kick field goals, Well, why
- 43:57Speaker 1: why go up a field goal and over time? Why
- 43:59Speaker 1: what do you want to do that? For? No, we'll
- 44:01Speaker 1: just go for it on fourth down. You need a
- 44:02Speaker 1: Nick Folk. Travis is running. He's not mad. He I
- 44:06Speaker 1: wasn't gonna It's not even mad. This is listener on
- 44:08Speaker 1: listener crime. But I guess you know he's calling me out,
- 44:10Speaker 1: saying censorship and YadA, YadA YadA. So don't let him
- 44:14Speaker 1: get to here. We don't do any of that here.
- 44:17Speaker 1: Now I'm gonna let it, he says, am I allowed
- 44:19Speaker 1: to call out other PU listeners slash callers if so,
- 44:22Speaker 1: I would like to call out Todd in North Carolina
- 44:24Speaker 1: for being a fraud whoa a week or two ago,
- 44:27Speaker 1: you called him out for all the background noise when
- 44:29Speaker 1: he called into the show. He claimed he didn't know
- 44:31Speaker 1: why there was so much noise, and then he might
- 44:33Speaker 1: have been doing dishes or something. I have a hard
- 44:35Speaker 1: time believing this story. Why would he know well, why
- 44:38Speaker 1: would he not know what he was doing when he
- 44:39Speaker 1: called him? The show seems like something you remember, love
- 44:43Speaker 1: you Todd? Just having fun and then he calls us
- 44:47Speaker 1: out for our background noise. So yeah, we're having some
- 44:49Speaker 1: construction here, Tray. It was funny that the day that
- 44:52Speaker 1: Fred was really adamant about the background noise, we did
- 44:55Speaker 1: have an incredible amount of construction going on in the state.
- 44:58Speaker 1: What was going on out there in this show, man?
- 45:00Speaker 1: What was what was that thing you had to go
- 45:02Speaker 1: out and murder someone for us. She's drilling on the
- 45:03Speaker 1: other side of the wall right there. She said she
- 45:05Speaker 1: had one whole left to do, so I let her
- 45:06Speaker 1: finish that. Good for you, vote us. How quiet's been sense?
- 45:13Speaker 1: And then he extracted her. Yeah, all right again, Sorry, sorry,
- 45:18Speaker 1: little frog in my throat. There another one, and this
- 45:20Speaker 1: is I don't really think this is a question, but
- 45:22Speaker 1: this is uh. I think maybe from Fred around the
- 45:24Speaker 1: draft a couple of years ago. I hope Stin Jefferson
- 45:27Speaker 1: comes from Matt. He says. I hope Bill and his
- 45:30Speaker 1: quote unquote coaching staff was watching the end of the
- 45:33Speaker 1: Vikings Bills game because Justin Jefferson is what a number
- 45:36Speaker 1: one ride receiver looks like. He makes big plays when
- 45:38Speaker 1: needed and is a playmaker. If we're ever going to
- 45:40Speaker 1: be a good team again, we need playmakers with actual
- 45:42Speaker 1: offensive play callers to keep up with the Bills and
- 45:44Speaker 1: the Chiefs. I think our defense is closer if they
- 45:46Speaker 1: stay healthy. And Josh Allen is playing hero ball right now,
- 45:49Speaker 1: which makes him make mistakes. Jack Jones can make the
- 45:52Speaker 1: big stop, the big something we need to stop the
- 45:54Speaker 1: Bills if we can keep up on offense. So Yeah,
- 45:57Speaker 1: there you go. Fred, it's your boy Justin Jeffers and
- 46:00Speaker 1: they just listen to you like them. I mean that guys.
- 46:02Speaker 1: I like Christian Watson too, by the way, for the Packers,
- 46:06Speaker 1: so like him better when he's catching them rather than
- 46:07Speaker 1: than dropping him. Talk amongst yourselves. I gotta find another email.
- 46:13Speaker 1: Head's good. Yeah, I mean it's not as easy as
- 46:15Speaker 1: it look. So, I mean, but the part about like,
- 46:20Speaker 1: I think it's easy to look at when you play
- 46:21Speaker 1: against the high powered offenses and you're like, oh, can
- 46:24Speaker 1: they keep up? Well, we have the pieces to slow
- 46:27Speaker 1: them down. Well, which is it like Jack Jones can
- 46:29Speaker 1: make a play to slow Buffalo down. If we can
- 46:32Speaker 1: keep up, well, why do we have to slow them down?
- 46:36Speaker 1: If we can keep up, eventually you gotta make a
- 46:38Speaker 1: stop it. No, But my point is, if you had
- 46:41Speaker 1: confidence that you could slow Buffalo down, you wouldn't be
- 46:44Speaker 1: as worried about the offense not being able to keep up. Now,
- 46:46Speaker 1: I am absolutely on board with I am concerned that
- 46:50Speaker 1: the Patriots offense will have trouble keeping up with those teams.
- 46:54Speaker 1: I do, but like, if I thought that the Patriots
- 46:57Speaker 1: could hold those teams down the way they've held other
- 46:59Speaker 1: teams down wouldn't be as worried about the offense. Yeah,
- 47:01Speaker 1: but these these are the elite office offenses and it's
- 47:05Speaker 1: the NFL. Like if you had reasons for pessimism, like,
- 47:08Speaker 1: we have a lot of reasons for optimism. And I
- 47:10Speaker 1: think I started off by self like, I just think
- 47:11Speaker 1: the offense can't possibly get way. I think it's rock bottom.
- 47:14Speaker 1: I think it has to be better in the second half.
- 47:16Speaker 1: It can't be worse. So I think that's a reason
- 47:19Speaker 1: for optimism. I think they have to get better upfront.
- 47:22Speaker 1: I think Mac Jones has to play better than he
- 47:24Speaker 1: played in the first half. You have, you have to
- 47:26Speaker 1: expect that some things will improve. But defensively, you know,
- 47:32Speaker 1: this is the last week. This Jets game is the
- 47:34Speaker 1: last week where you're beating up on teams that can't
- 47:36Speaker 1: move the ball. You know, from the rest of the
- 47:39Speaker 1: way in And I'm not telling you they're going to
- 47:41Speaker 1: give up thirty plus in every game on the way in,
- 47:43Speaker 1: but the rest of the way and you have offenses
- 47:45Speaker 1: that can punch back, and I don't know, I don't
- 47:49Speaker 1: I don't know how that's going to go. They might
- 47:50Speaker 1: be able to hold Minnesota down. They might hold Arizona down.
- 47:53Speaker 1: They might hold the Raiders down. God knows everybody else
- 47:55Speaker 1: is holding the Raiders down, but I just don't see
- 47:58Speaker 1: them doing it to all of them, you know. So
- 48:02Speaker 1: the offense is going to have to carry some of
- 48:05Speaker 1: the load. Yeah, they've got If they're gonna be any
- 48:07Speaker 1: better than you know, four and four in the last
- 48:09Speaker 1: eight games, you're gonna have to have to get more offensive. Absolutely,
- 48:13Speaker 1: And can they get can they get to five wins?
- 48:15Speaker 1: I mean it's it's I can I can talk to
- 48:17Speaker 1: myself into this Jets game, But after that, it's there's
- 48:20Speaker 1: reason to say you're gonna win at least one of
- 48:26Speaker 1: the two West Coast games, right I think, you know,
- 48:28Speaker 1: I think so, I think you could. Yeah, you'll win
- 48:31Speaker 1: one of the two. But it's gonna be hard to
- 48:33Speaker 1: win both. Yeah, you know. And it's just I think
- 48:36Speaker 1: it's gonna be hard to win one. Well, you know
- 48:39Speaker 1: what I mean. Cargos are coming on. I mean it's
- 48:41Speaker 1: hard to know. What would you think what's more likely
- 48:44Speaker 1: one and one and two or two? One? Oh? Right now,
- 48:48Speaker 1: I would say one on one. Yeah, I reserve the
- 48:51Speaker 1: right to change my mind when the two games come. Sure,
- 48:54Speaker 1: it's really hard to know what what the state of
- 48:56Speaker 1: the Raiders are like. If they were playing the Raiders Sunday,
- 48:58Speaker 1: I would I would bet everything I have on the Patriots,
- 49:01Speaker 1: But that might not be the case. In a month.
- 49:03Speaker 1: They're gonna get a little bit more healthy, get some
- 49:05Speaker 1: guys back, I mean yeah, and you might go the
- 49:08Speaker 1: other way because you've had incredible luck with your your health.
- 49:11Speaker 1: You know that they have pretty much a full school.
- 49:13Speaker 1: What are they missing time? Montgomery pretty much it right now? Yeah, yeah,
- 49:18Speaker 1: in a backup tackle. And Marcus Cannon, I mean you
- 49:21Speaker 1: assigned mid season, you know, so a month from now,
- 49:24Speaker 1: you might look at the health a little bit differently
- 49:26Speaker 1: than you look at it now. Like you know, the
- 49:28Speaker 1: charges the other night, I give the Charges all kinds
- 49:30Speaker 1: of props. The other night they showed me something in
- 49:32Speaker 1: defeat that they haven't ever been able to show me
- 49:34Speaker 1: in victory, like going to San Francisco and having a
- 49:37Speaker 1: chance to win that game in the fourth quarter with
- 49:39Speaker 1: the personnel that they were missing in that game. I
- 49:41Speaker 1: give them, I mean, I give them credit for that.
- 49:44Speaker 1: I didn't I didn't see that. I thought they were
- 49:45Speaker 1: going to get their doors blown off. Arizona feels like
- 49:47Speaker 1: a team the Arizonia and they're gonna never with Hopkins back,
- 49:51Speaker 1: and they'll be coming off their buy for that game too.
- 49:54Speaker 1: And I read my boy Badard talking about like, you
- 49:57Speaker 1: know what happens with them? Liked they you know, like listen,
- 50:01Speaker 1: obviously the Rams have all kinds of personnel issues too.
- 50:03Speaker 1: Their whole team is out too. But they beat the Rams,
- 50:06Speaker 1: a team that they never beat, and they found a
- 50:08Speaker 1: way to win that game. Do they build on that
- 50:11Speaker 1: and win another one or do they lose another couple
- 50:13Speaker 1: of maybe Cliff Kingsburgy gets fired. Like that's the the
- 50:16Speaker 1: scope that you're dealing with with the Cardinals. Who knows
- 50:19Speaker 1: what's going to happen with that team. Yeah, that's why
- 50:21Speaker 1: I have no idea like penciling in wins. I just
- 50:26Speaker 1: I feel like the season is starting now, like this
- 50:28Speaker 1: is like everything else was just there builds and most
- 50:30Speaker 1: of the games you have to win. Those are the
- 50:32Speaker 1: bad teams. Everybody else is over five hundred, right, I mean,
- 50:36Speaker 1: those are the games the Dolphins and the Bills. I mean,
- 50:41Speaker 1: I can't even get to that point with you know.
- 50:43Speaker 1: I mean, I think Minnesota there's something about they're very talented,
- 50:48Speaker 1: but I think they were straight up team with talents.
- 50:50Speaker 1: So I'd be a lot more worried if if they
- 50:52Speaker 1: had a mobile quarterback, because I think that that's kind
- 50:55Speaker 1: of a problem for the pages. But I think that
- 50:57Speaker 1: they'll they'll compete in that game, and I think they
- 50:58Speaker 1: have a chance to win that game, even as you know,
- 51:00Speaker 1: well as as Minnesota as I want to say, oh,
- 51:03Speaker 1: well they're playing, but oh it's gonna be a one
- 51:04Speaker 1: score game because Minnesota plays one score games. That's all
- 51:07Speaker 1: they do. Yeah, I mean, I think they'll have a chance,
- 51:09Speaker 1: but every single game, every single one. Let's get back
- 51:13Speaker 1: to the phone, so we'll go to Alan in Texas.
- 51:16Speaker 1: What's up Alan? Hey, guys, can you hear me? Okay? Yes, okay. Um.
- 51:23Speaker 1: First of all, I'm a long time listen to first
- 51:25Speaker 1: time caller m a New Yorker from Texas, Texas. Yeah. No,
- 51:30Speaker 1: I'm from Providence for an Island originally. I moved to
- 51:32Speaker 1: Texas ten years ago, all right, and actually used to
- 51:36Speaker 1: have the I used to subscribe to the PFW Nice
- 51:39Speaker 1: Football Weekly, so that used to keep me informed, thank you.
- 51:42Speaker 1: But my question, my question is about basically what Paul
- 51:46Speaker 1: was saying that he doesn't think there's really any good
- 51:48Speaker 1: football or not much good football. Um, the NFL has
- 51:53Speaker 1: been pushing for parody and longer of gain, you know,
- 51:56Speaker 1: longer seasons which we have less practice. And I watch
- 52:00Speaker 1: a lot of football besides the Patriots, and I got
- 52:02Speaker 1: to say, it's hard to find a good game to watch,
- 52:06Speaker 1: you know, because it just seems like the product has suffered.
- 52:09Speaker 1: And I'll take uh, you know, I'm just curious how
- 52:12Speaker 1: you guys feel about that, and I'll take it off
- 52:13Speaker 1: the year. Okay, Yeah, I think they were good games.
- 52:16Speaker 1: I just don't know how good the teams are they're
- 52:18Speaker 1: playing it now. The Minnesota Buffalo game, I think were
- 52:20Speaker 1: two good teams playing and there was incredibly entertaining, No
- 52:26Speaker 1: notwithstanding the end. But I mean if if that goal
- 52:29Speaker 1: line stand ended the game and then Bill's win thirty
- 52:31Speaker 1: to twenty six, are you any less entertained? Right? That
- 52:33Speaker 1: was a great game. But I think to Alan's point,
- 52:35Speaker 1: a lot of the games that like primetime games, yeah,
- 52:38Speaker 1: the Thursday yeah, yeah, the Thursday night games like that,
- 52:42Speaker 1: the length of the season that he brought up, I
- 52:44Speaker 1: think that those are factors. Yeah, those are factors. The
- 52:47Speaker 1: Thursday night games are bad football. That that Atlantic Carolina
- 52:51Speaker 1: game the other night. I mean they couldn't even make
- 52:53Speaker 1: an extra point. Team's missed like three straight extra points
- 52:56Speaker 1: at one point. On one of your shows this morning, Paul,
- 52:59Speaker 1: they were talking about it al al Michael being bored,
- 53:02Speaker 1: well being bored, but thinking that he might have made
- 53:04Speaker 1: a mistakes doing what he's doing. Yeah, yeah, so how
- 53:09Speaker 1: much money they give him. I mean, it'll get better,
- 53:12Speaker 1: you know, it's just a matter Thursday night games, they're
- 53:14Speaker 1: not going to get better. The matchups might get better. Event,
- 53:17Speaker 1: you can't play good football on Thursday night. You can't.
- 53:20Speaker 1: That's why the matchups think so bad. Haven't we paid
- 53:24Speaker 1: played good football Thursday night? When I don't know, I
- 53:27Speaker 1: remember winning some games. You know what I remember? Do
- 53:30Speaker 1: you have the Nick Folk hit clip, Matt? That's what
- 53:33Speaker 1: I remember from Thursday night football for the Patriots. They
- 53:36Speaker 1: win because the other team misses three field goals. Like
- 53:40Speaker 1: that's like last year the Atlantic game when there was
- 53:43Speaker 1: like pick sixes, like three of them in the fort
- 53:45Speaker 1: like whatever. There was like three straight interceptions in the football.
- 53:48Speaker 1: That's that's that's Thursday night football, baby, Yeah, that's just
- 53:52Speaker 1: horrible football. Would you do you think it's better when
- 53:54Speaker 1: it's divisional team suit that know each other well, they're
- 53:57Speaker 1: obviously more important. I think that's what they try to do.
- 54:00Speaker 1: Or when it's like when you're at laying at the team,
- 54:02Speaker 1: you don't really know that isn't it's an it's an
- 54:04Speaker 1: out of conference opponent, it's not as impactful in your season.
- 54:07Speaker 1: I just wonder what teams will prefer. I just I mean,
- 54:10Speaker 1: they probably prefer the division opponents because they're easier to
- 54:12Speaker 1: prepare for. But it's physical games usually can't I'm like,
- 54:17Speaker 1: I listened to the players when they talk about this stuff,
- 54:20Speaker 1: and I just don't think that you can adequately prepare
- 54:22Speaker 1: yourself to play football games, say beyond like week three
- 54:27Speaker 1: on Thursday night. You know, the Patriots are gonna play
- 54:30Speaker 1: three games in twelve days in this stretch here. That's
- 54:34Speaker 1: that's they're not supposed to do that. You know, something
- 54:37Speaker 1: that's supposed to take twenty one days is going to
- 54:39Speaker 1: take twelve. Right, let's go to Todd, North Carolina. Todd,
- 54:45Speaker 1: if you called toft, you did that on purpose? That
- 54:51Speaker 1: was well done, my friend. No, I don't think you
- 54:55Speaker 1: did on purpose? All right, Todd making a point. Good touche, touche.
- 55:02Speaker 1: The Patriots are fifteen and seven on Thursday night football
- 55:05Speaker 1: since nineteen seventy nine. Use they are there, you go, Well,
- 55:09Speaker 1: two big ones coming up the next couple of weeks
- 55:11Speaker 1: after this. He's hurrying back in here. Hurry, hurry. Do
- 55:16Speaker 1: you hear that, Paul, I just want to get fifteen
- 55:18Speaker 1: and seven on Thursday night football Patriots. They haven't been
- 55:22Speaker 1: doing Thursday night football that long, he said, since seventy nine.
- 55:25Speaker 1: Oh yeah, No, I'm talking about Thursday night football in
- 55:28Speaker 1: the current iteration. They're not good. They're not good games.
- 55:31Speaker 1: And I don't like I don't care who someone wins
- 55:33Speaker 1: every week. I'm not telling you that someone has a
- 55:36Speaker 1: good or bad record. I'm saying, like, last year against Atlanta,
- 55:39Speaker 1: would you consider that a good football game? Patriots one,
- 55:42Speaker 1: twenty five to nothing. They didn't play well. Hold on though, Matt,
- 55:46Speaker 1: what was that stat again? Fifteen and seven? Fifteen and seven.
- 55:49Speaker 1: Since nineteen seventy nine, the Patriots have had twenty two
- 55:53Speaker 1: Thursday night games. Yeah, I mean, I mean, that doesn't
- 55:57Speaker 1: sound like out of the ordinary. It does to me.
- 56:00Speaker 1: It sounds like a lot, because you really were only
- 56:02Speaker 1: playing one a year. Seven and two on Thursday night
- 56:04Speaker 1: football since twenty fifteen. Okay, okay, and all at home?
- 56:09Speaker 1: Yeah what they lose? Yeah anyway, Um, okay back to
- 56:15Speaker 1: the lost the Rams. Yeah, I gotta, I gotta because
- 56:18Speaker 1: they had to go on the road. That was in
- 56:20Speaker 1: twenty twenty one, Atlanta on the road. We know that.
- 56:26Speaker 1: But yeah, my point isn't like the record, No, I know.
- 56:29Speaker 1: My point is quality. Yeah, it's the quality of football.
- 56:31Speaker 1: And I'm not even talking about the Patriot. This just
- 56:33Speaker 1: wasn't like that wasn't Patriots centric. I know, I like,
- 56:36Speaker 1: I'm talking about like Carolina and Atlanta, two bad teams, yes,
- 56:40Speaker 1: but that was like prophetically bad even for those two teams.
- 56:43Speaker 1: I was trying to push back and saying, other teams
- 56:45Speaker 1: played Poortland Thursday night, but the Patriots don't. But they do,
- 56:49Speaker 1: like and I think that because we kind of had
- 56:51Speaker 1: one last year that we're just we just mentioned I know,
- 56:54Speaker 1: the year before they didn't even show up for their game.
- 56:56Speaker 1: They lost like twenty four to three. What's what was that?
- 57:00Speaker 1: The Rams? I keep forgetting that one, but I know why.
- 57:03Speaker 1: It's on purpose exactly. Nate writes in he just uh,
- 57:07Speaker 1: he wanted to say that he's an actor, professional theater actor.
- 57:11Speaker 1: You want to point out how often we quote Shakespeare,
- 57:13Speaker 1: especially Paul Ready for four of them, neither here nor There,
- 57:18Speaker 1: One fell, swoop, come what May? And Slings and arrows.
- 57:22Speaker 1: That's all Shakespeare and Paul. Yeah, none of those were
- 57:24Speaker 1: an intentional quoting of Shakespeare. I have to I have
- 57:27Speaker 1: to admit those are just you know, tired, tired, one
- 57:31Speaker 1: verbal cliche. He thinks, right, oh, good go, hey, well
- 57:35Speaker 1: done there, well done, boil toil and Italian subs, oh yeah,
- 57:43Speaker 1: without mayo. Yeah. Get a lot of questions about Jimmy
- 57:48Speaker 1: g Tom Brady and their availability next year? Uh any,
- 57:54Speaker 1: oh my Mike's uh any potential return here or potential
- 57:58Speaker 1: reuniting with job in Vegas, anything, any of that. I
- 58:02Speaker 1: think there's zero point zero percent chance of Brady returning here. Um.
- 58:06Speaker 1: I think it's like probably zero point one percent that
- 58:09Speaker 1: he would reunite with Josh. I don't think it ended
- 58:11Speaker 1: well with Josh with Brady Vegas. He's single now. I mean, well,
- 58:15Speaker 1: I think it's the forty nine ers, isn't it. That's
- 58:17Speaker 1: what I think? Yeah, yeah, do you think the Bucks say,
- 58:21Speaker 1: you know what, let's just keep him well, I don't
- 58:23Speaker 1: think that'll be their decision to make. No, I know,
- 58:25Speaker 1: but if they give him the money, well, I don't
- 58:27Speaker 1: think Miami will be I think he wants out there
- 58:30Speaker 1: really Yeah. Yeah, now that um Arians has gone, it's better. No,
- 58:35Speaker 1: I just don't think he wants to stay there. Yeah.
- 58:37Speaker 1: I mean, click, he's trying. He's trying everything. You good
- 58:40Speaker 1: to go to Miami two years ago. Yeah, So it
- 58:44Speaker 1: looks like the forty nine is the one that makes sense.
- 58:46Speaker 1: I think. I think so that I agree with you.
- 58:48Speaker 1: I think that's the one that kind of stands out
- 58:50Speaker 1: to me. Do you think he's just in it to
- 58:51Speaker 1: win it now and there's no firm out because he's
- 58:54Speaker 1: no longer having to worry about Yeah, I think I
- 58:57Speaker 1: think are sure he's going to play. No, No, I
- 59:01Speaker 1: still think that he's gonna While I did before the divorce,
- 59:05Speaker 1: I thought this was it, this was his last year,
- 59:07Speaker 1: but now it's like, what else are you gonna do?
- 59:10Speaker 1: You know, you can go around the country or the world,
- 59:13Speaker 1: how can TV twelve? But is that really gonna do
- 59:16Speaker 1: it for you? No? No, he loves football. This is
- 59:18Speaker 1: what he loves, you know. Plus it's all that whole thing.
- 59:22Speaker 1: How long can I do this? It's he's he's competing
- 59:25Speaker 1: against himself as much as he is everybody else. How
- 59:28Speaker 1: long can I do this at a high level? Yeah,
- 59:30Speaker 1: you know, I want the answer, and if he quits,
- 59:33Speaker 1: he won't have that answer. You know, I think too, Like,
- 59:35Speaker 1: I mean, they're what are they in first place right now?
- 59:38Speaker 1: And then in the terrible NFC South So I mean
- 59:40Speaker 1: they'll be in the mix again, and I would just
- 59:43Speaker 1: be very surprised if he returned to the box. Yeah,
- 59:46Speaker 1: let me tell you something, you know, and seeing him
- 59:48Speaker 1: in person in a couple of years, I mean, his
- 59:52Speaker 1: arm is as good as anyone's in the league right now,
- 59:54Speaker 1: maybe not distance wise, but in velocity. And you know,
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: like he throws ropes, he's throwing. Even the interception that
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: he had, the guy was open. He just needed to
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: get a little more air under it, but he didn't.
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: He was a laser beam right to the guy. Yeah,
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: but I mean it was a rope. I mean he's throwing.
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: You know, then what's the going on with their offense?
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: I mean he died. To get another vibe from the
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: offense just generally of what was clunky about it or
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: it just didn't seem like they could get it going
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: because they got you know, believe it or not. I
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: think partly it is Brady. Oh like he's not quite
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: that gets rid of the ball immediately. Yeah, and and um,
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: a lot of the balls are inaccurate. Um, even the completions. Now,
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: I thought the one that was down on the five
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: yard line, I forget it wasn't Scotty Miller. Was another
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: young guy, Like he jumps up and makes this acrobatic
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: So two weeks ago, he jumps up and headbuts a
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: ball with his face in the end zone, like you
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: could see Brady just wanting to like it wasn't Scott Miller,
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: say this game, this game, he cuts across the middle
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: of like the tech no one within the same area, coach,
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: and he jumps for some unknown reason, his legs are
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: under and he almost fumbled it somehow. Again, I'm so
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: glad you brought that up. That play was just and
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: and if you not to Joel Brady. But I'm like, yep,
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: Brady's in that guy's head, like you know, like like,
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: oh God, it's coming to me. I can't drop it.
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: I didn't know that was Scotty Miller. Again, I thought
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: it was somebody else, but I was like, you just
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: made an easy one of hard cash. It's like, I
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: see Danny Amondola make that catch like on the sideline
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: with like two guys, Like whoa, that was so acrobatic
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: or like what is he If he had caught it
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: the regular way, he probably would have scored. Yeah, you know,
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: you could have rolled in. I just saw that face
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: mask on that scoop and score. That was ridiculous, missis.
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: And then the other one. I just want to the
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: Brady when he got called for tripping at the end
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: of the game. He all he wanted to do was
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: make contact with his legs so that he was down.
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: He really I don't think he was really trying to
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: trip him, but by the letter of the law, it's tripping.
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: He used his leg Yeah, okay, I don't think. But
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: people were like, oh, Brady, so Bush League. It's like, oh,
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: come on, it's not the first time. Yeah, did you
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: have a good view of when they threw them that
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: pass along the sideline? Stupid? Stupid. They had set that
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: up a few plays earlier where they had them lyne
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: out wide and it was a run play, so like, oh,
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: we got them. Now we set it up, so they
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: did it again, and you know, it's like ridiculous, what
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: are you doing when you're moving the ball? Why do
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: you have to do that? Everybody around me was like
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: that was just stupid. Why would you do that? Do you? Guys?
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: Do you want to take a break? And I don't
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: think anybody's getting food, but oh you're not getting I'm
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: not getting food today. You want to diet? No, we
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: could take a break, Okay, I just wanted to enjoy

- 1:10:46Speaker 1: called no mediaca coach. Oh no, no, no no no.
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: I did not stop it. If you stop it, you're
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: embarrassing yourself. I just speak to you today. But anyway,
- 1:11:00Speaker 1: I did not call Bill a mediocre coach. I'm sorry.
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: That's it was taken out of context. That's like Fred
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: said that he doesn't think that mac Jones is very
- 1:11:08Speaker 1: good that's not what he meant. He was it was
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: something about something different. I've never thought of Bill as
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: a mediocre coach, and I've never said that he's a
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: mediocre coach. Sorry, I might have said. I might have
- 1:11:19Speaker 1: said something like this, if you want to listen, He's
- 1:11:22Speaker 1: had eight plus years without Tom Brady as his as
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: his quarterback, and in those years he's been a mediocre coach.
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: That's what you said. That's what I said. I remember that. Oh,
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: that's what I call him. A mediocre coach them without Brady,
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: very very important qualifier there, Manny WHOA. I think then
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: everybody's a medioca coach because Brady then and he reads
- 1:11:44Speaker 1: Andy reads, not a mediocre coach. A good point. That's
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: another great moment from all right back here and Patriots
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: unfiltered tossing bombs in the back. It's a good point.
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: That's what he does. A guy completely makes up some
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: thing that I didn't say. And then Fregos, that's a
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: good point. Called well, I don't think the word mediocre
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: should ever be used in the same sentence as Bill
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: Belichick with or without Tom Brady. How's that. I know
- 1:12:09Speaker 1: he'd have to start winning some games. Tom Brady. Wow,
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: boom roasted. Um, let's see. Okay, Todd is back on
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: the phone. What's up Todd? Hey, guys, can you hear me? Yeah?
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: Oh great connection? Yeah, great connection. That was weird because
- 1:12:28Speaker 1: you're on Bluetooth in the car and it was I
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: was talking to Matt. It was fine, So that was
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: a purpose. No, I wouldn't do that credit. I gave
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: you a lot of credit. That was funny. Yeah, well
- 1:12:41Speaker 1: I kind of heard it. I couldn't even hear it either.
- 1:12:43Speaker 1: The whole call just kind of went sideways. But that's
- 1:12:45Speaker 1: the way it's been going because we lost their immigration,
- 1:12:47Speaker 1: I lost my driver's license, we my wife lost her job,
- 1:12:51Speaker 1: and she's had three surgeries in the last month. Who
- 1:12:54Speaker 1: great boy, Now I feel great of all reading that email. Anyway, anyway,
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: just the one thing that I was thinking about because
- 1:13:05Speaker 1: I don't know how we did it, but we slipped
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: into the last playoffs spot, what is the one thing
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: that could happen for the team that they'd be able
- 1:13:12Speaker 1: to actually make the playoffs? What do you think, like
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: the old line gets fixed, or you know, Mac gets
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: his head right, the offense gets fixed, period offense. There's
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: a lot of things wrong with the offense that the
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: offense would have to get fixed. How many things on
- 1:13:29Speaker 1: the offense do you figure need, Like is it just
- 1:13:31Speaker 1: the whole dang thing, like play calling, coaching, the whole thing,
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: or just one or two everything Bill has, play calling, protection,
- 1:13:40Speaker 1: the running game, passing game, the quarterback. Play Bill's gonna
- 1:13:44Speaker 1: have to take over. Yeah, I would I largely agree
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: with you, Fred, Yeah, he's gonna have to get ye.
- 1:13:51Speaker 1: If there any hope that they would be able to
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: get like, is there a possibility could or is it
- 1:13:57Speaker 1: just kind of like a mission if possible at this time,
- 1:13:59Speaker 1: I think it has to be better. He doesn't. The
- 1:14:01Speaker 1: offense have to be better in the second half. Again,
- 1:14:04Speaker 1: it starts with the old line, but I think they've
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: got the pieces. But if the old line doesn't get better,
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: then nothing else will. I mean, I would have said
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: that we've been doing it for three months and if
- 1:14:12Speaker 1: you said at the end of training camp, like it'll
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: look better by November, right, and I would say, Oh, yeah,
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: it's got to it hasn't. I just I think given
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: the schedule how daunting it is that they're they're going
- 1:14:22Speaker 1: to have to find a new gear or else. It's
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: it's you know, it's not going to end in the playoffs,
- 1:14:27Speaker 1: all right, let me let me jump in Fred on
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: an email here from George from read from Jersey as
- 1:14:33Speaker 1: he was saying, email emailed us only once in twenty
- 1:14:36Speaker 1: twenty one, but it never made it an area. He
- 1:14:37Speaker 1: thinks it was quashed by Fred or possibly even the
- 1:14:40Speaker 1: higher ups I eat Belichick and Craft, who oh yeah,
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: they read. Think I think he might be onto something.
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: He's he does, say, I kid, but at the time
- 1:14:49Speaker 1: I thought it was a big mistake not giving Max
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: some time to sit behind a veteran. I know Paul
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: believes if a rookie is ready, he wants to see
- 1:14:56Speaker 1: them get as many snaps as possible. Very valid. But
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: to Alan Mahome s Brady, I'll sappyhond veterans in hindsight,
- 1:15:02Speaker 1: do you think that this might have benefited Mac? I don't.
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: I don't have the answer to that. But I also
- 1:15:10Speaker 1: would say that the examples that you use are kind
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: of like, so two US didn't start like the first
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: four or five games, and that like that said, Okay,
- 1:15:18Speaker 1: so Mahomes sat the whole year. He played the last
- 1:15:20Speaker 1: game of the year, So that's that's valid, but like
- 1:15:23Speaker 1: two would and Josh Allen played games as rookies, like
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: they played the balance of their seasons as rookies. Like
- 1:15:29Speaker 1: because they didn't play Week one means they sat Yeah,
- 1:15:34Speaker 1: Like is that that big of a difference. It's hard
- 1:15:36Speaker 1: to do it at this point because last year I
- 1:15:38Speaker 1: think everybody was happy he played and happy that you've
- 1:15:40Speaker 1: got a rookie quarterback that kind of And I also
- 1:15:42Speaker 1: would would have thought differently about it if mac Jones
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: would have had the opportunity to sit behind like a
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: real veteran, not Cam Newton, you know, not not someone
- 1:15:50Speaker 1: who played football. He played some of the worst quarterback
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: play that you'll ever see in twenty twenty. Yeah, would
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: he have benefited from just listening and watching Brady? Of
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: course he would, of course he would. But it's hard
- 1:16:05Speaker 1: to prove those things, like, you know, how about this,
- 1:16:08Speaker 1: How about if we did something like this instead of
- 1:16:11Speaker 1: and this is obviously revisioned his history. It didn't happen
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: this way, but instead of Cam Newton in twenty twenty,
- 1:16:16Speaker 1: they signed Andy Dalton. Yeah. I wouldn't have been opposed
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: to Andy Dalton playing the first handful of games last
- 1:16:23Speaker 1: year and letting Cam Newton you know, you know learned
- 1:16:27Speaker 1: that way or you know, um, I should tweet that
- 1:16:31Speaker 1: out and tag that he love No, like there's there's
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: more exact and listen, Cam Newton is a thousand times
- 1:16:36Speaker 1: better player than Andy Dalton ever was, but in twenty
- 1:16:39Speaker 1: twenty he wasn't. They were kind of the same, only
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: Cam Newton played in a style that's not really going
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: to help Mac Jones, whereas Andy Dalton could have played
- 1:16:49Speaker 1: some reasonable facsimile of the Josh McDaniels offense, right, and
- 1:16:53Speaker 1: I think he could have learned something from sitting around. Yeah,
- 1:16:56Speaker 1: I'm not hell bent on a rookie has to play
- 1:16:58Speaker 1: week one, but I'm also not hell bent the other way,
- 1:17:01Speaker 1: Like it doesn't have to be that's the only way
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: you can do, and you need to let these guys
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: sit and learn. Some guys benefit from that, some guys don't.
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: It wouldn't have been been a conversation for me after
- 1:17:13Speaker 1: last year. And I mean it's just because it's this point,
- 1:17:15Speaker 1: because he, you know, was regressed, and I mean now
- 1:17:17Speaker 1: he looks like a rookie And if it looked like
- 1:17:19Speaker 1: this last year, then I probably would say, hey, maybe
- 1:17:21Speaker 1: it's time for him to take a seat and you know,
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: get a chance to watch for a little while. Um
- 1:17:26Speaker 1: spect spec got a little something funny. He really liked
- 1:17:29Speaker 1: Andy at the andyism from last week when he said
- 1:17:31Speaker 1: you drafted a pocket passer and you don't have a
- 1:17:33Speaker 1: pocket low t Rex even managed to say that without
- 1:17:37Speaker 1: yelling about boob squats, Buffalo chicken, ivy as et cum Anyway.
- 1:17:42Speaker 1: Picks During Picks a couple of weeks ago, pauliamented that
- 1:17:45Speaker 1: one of the Love games could have ended with a
- 1:17:47Speaker 1: negative score. Got me wondering for each of you, if
- 1:17:50Speaker 1: point deductions were a thing in NFL football, how would
- 1:17:53Speaker 1: you want that to work? What would you what would
- 1:17:55Speaker 1: you detract points from a team going for passing up
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: an evy easy field goal? While how about how about
- 1:18:02Speaker 1: miss missed field goals? Missed missed kicks? You should lose
- 1:18:06Speaker 1: the amount of points. How's that? Folk? No one would
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: ever kick a field goal? Now? No? What what could you?
- 1:18:13Speaker 1: What could you do? What could you do to have
- 1:18:15Speaker 1: negative points? Like a really bad personal foul that could
- 1:18:20Speaker 1: be one. Um, I'm trying to think now, like like
- 1:18:24Speaker 1: the Colts. The way the Colts played offense last week
- 1:18:27Speaker 1: with Sam Ellinger like, you get sacked nine times, you
- 1:18:32Speaker 1: can't move the ball at all, you score three points,
- 1:18:35Speaker 1: like yeah, but like you know, that's like you know,
- 1:18:38Speaker 1: the other team could be just better than you. You
- 1:18:40Speaker 1: shouldn't get penalized by for that. But it's a joke. No,
- 1:18:43Speaker 1: I'm trying to think honestly, Like what what should a
- 1:18:47Speaker 1: team be penalized for with points? You know? Yeah, it's
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: got to be bad. I mean, yeahsis, what's that you
- 1:18:56Speaker 1: don't get the extra point or the two point conversion?
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: Then you just lose those points. Yeah, but like you know,
- 1:19:02Speaker 1: you don't want to discourage teams from doing things. You
- 1:19:05Speaker 1: know they have to do either of those after a
- 1:19:07Speaker 1: touchdown anyway, Well, someone discouraged them from moving the ball.
- 1:19:12Speaker 1: They're drafting like Pete Carroll calling timeouts at the end
- 1:19:17Speaker 1: of the half. Minus points, minus points? You know, Rick
- 1:19:21Speaker 1: and Leville is just wondering or if we were as
- 1:19:23Speaker 1: shocked as he is that the overrated Cowboys are a
- 1:19:26Speaker 1: two point road favorite against the Vikings. I'd seen that yet,
- 1:19:29Speaker 1: but um shocked? No, but um it's mildly surprising. Yeah,
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: I think Dallas is better than Minnesota, But I mean,
- 1:19:40Speaker 1: I'm pretty consistent with this and I'm gonna go down
- 1:19:43Speaker 1: with the ship and the Vikings are gonna go like
- 1:19:44Speaker 1: thirteen and four. And I'm gonna tell you, I don't
- 1:19:46Speaker 1: know how they're doing it us whatever, But I think
- 1:19:50Speaker 1: Dallas is better than Minnesota and this personnel WI just
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: two road games in a row for Dallas. They play
- 1:19:55Speaker 1: in the road this week, Yeah yeah, so why so
- 1:19:58Speaker 1: why are they favored? No? That makes even more shocking
- 1:20:01Speaker 1: because I think that people look at them and they
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: think they're better. But plus, but Dallas, I mean, let's
- 1:20:05Speaker 1: call it, like the actual line in Vegas isn't necessarily
- 1:20:10Speaker 1: what they think is better. It's where the money's coming.
- 1:20:12Speaker 1: And what do you think the money is going to
- 1:20:14Speaker 1: come in? Dallas or Minnesota? Right right? Minnesota, they don't bet.
- 1:20:17Speaker 1: That's That's what the sharps now. But I mean, you
- 1:20:21Speaker 1: don't think they can make it. You can make an
- 1:20:22Speaker 1: argument that Dallas is better than Minnesota. I think you could,
- 1:20:25Speaker 1: but right now I think Minnesota might be playing better.
- 1:20:28Speaker 1: And then it's two games in a row on the
- 1:20:30Speaker 1: road for Dallas. I think, I mean they I mean
- 1:20:33Speaker 1: Dallas went into Minnesota last year with Cooper Russian beat
- 1:20:36Speaker 1: them them, right, I just think they're a better team.
- 1:20:38Speaker 1: Raises my eyebrow. Yeah, it's it's it's it's I mean,
- 1:20:42Speaker 1: it's a little it's a little strange. I think it's
- 1:20:46Speaker 1: just what Paul said, it's where the money's coming in.
- 1:20:47Speaker 1: They're trying to gain. Well, that's I mean, that's first
- 1:20:49Speaker 1: and foremost. They try to figure out where the money
- 1:20:53Speaker 1: the Cowboys. But I think the Cowboys are better than
- 1:20:56Speaker 1: Minnesota and I'd be surprised if they didn't win the game. Yeah, well,
- 1:20:59Speaker 1: we'll see Ramona Tampa a little bit of a imaginary situation.
- 1:21:05Speaker 1: If it's something he's always wondered if in O seven
- 1:21:08Speaker 1: the Pats lost the final regular season game against the Giants,
- 1:21:11Speaker 1: ending the perfect season hope at that point, do you
- 1:21:13Speaker 1: believe the pain would be as intense as the pain
- 1:21:16Speaker 1: we felt when we lost Super Bowl forty two. Now,
- 1:21:18Speaker 1: a lot of people have made the argument, had they
- 1:21:20Speaker 1: lost that game to the Giants at the end of
- 1:21:22Speaker 1: the season, they wouldn't have lost the Super Bowl. Yeah,
- 1:21:24Speaker 1: they would have. Ye, they would have. Giants wouldn't have
- 1:21:27Speaker 1: had that same right hunger, and the Patriots wouldn't have
- 1:21:30Speaker 1: overlooked them, right, Yeah, they wouldn't have and the pressure
- 1:21:35Speaker 1: of maintaining the undefeated season wouldn't have been on them either.
- 1:21:39Speaker 1: I thought the Baltimore moment was the one they should
- 1:21:41Speaker 1: have should have dropped. I mean, that was a miracle
- 1:21:43Speaker 1: how they I mean, is that the most miraculous end
- 1:21:45Speaker 1: of any of those games? That? Yeah? Really, that was
- 1:21:48Speaker 1: as close as they came. That was as close as
- 1:21:51Speaker 1: they came to losing. You know, the Giants were up twelve,
- 1:21:54Speaker 1: but there was still a lot of time left. The
- 1:21:56Speaker 1: Baltimore game. You came back from two fourteen point deficits.
- 1:22:00Speaker 1: You know, that was crazy. Which one we're talking about now, Baltimore?
- 1:22:05Speaker 1: Oh that wasn't No. Seven? That was that was the
- 1:22:08Speaker 1: twenty fourteen playoff. Yeah, that's the end. Yeah, Okay, they
- 1:22:12Speaker 1: had I had, like, no, I know what you're talking
- 1:22:13Speaker 1: about now, I got I got confused. I got three
- 1:22:16Speaker 1: four I got like three fourth downs and they had
- 1:22:20Speaker 1: the one they stop. Ryan called the time out and
- 1:22:23Speaker 1: they had to do it again, and it was Scotts
- 1:22:26Speaker 1: the penalty in the stands. And even then, even then,
- 1:22:30Speaker 1: after all that crap happened, they threw a hill Mary
- 1:22:33Speaker 1: and caught it inside the five yard line. Right, It
- 1:22:37Speaker 1: just felt like I mean, but I think with that
- 1:22:39Speaker 1: team too. After I came, I came back specifically for
- 1:22:43Speaker 1: the Pittsburgh game, which you know, they lit him up.
- 1:22:45Speaker 1: I remember that was probably why I started bloging with
- 1:22:47Speaker 1: somebody's flying around the stadium with like a like asterisk
- 1:22:50Speaker 1: uh plane thing, and that I got so mad I
- 1:22:53Speaker 1: had to blog about it. Um. But after that point
- 1:22:56Speaker 1: it felt like I was waiting for some reactions. I mean,
- 1:23:00Speaker 1: it got hardest. It's just it's like when you're pitching
- 1:23:02Speaker 1: a perfect game, you know you're gonna need some help.
- 1:23:06Speaker 1: They're gonna need somebody at some point to make a
- 1:23:08Speaker 1: great defensive play. And it's the same thing. You gotta
- 1:23:12Speaker 1: have a little luck. And then they did. Down the
- 1:23:15Speaker 1: stretch of that season. You know, they had the game
- 1:23:18Speaker 1: against Philadelphia, I think with a J. Feely who kind
- 1:23:21Speaker 1: of lit them up, and you know, I think I
- 1:23:24Speaker 1: think Assante had a pick in the end zone at
- 1:23:27Speaker 1: the end to preserve that win. That was a close game.
- 1:23:30Speaker 1: That was like a thirty one twenty seven kind of game.
- 1:23:32Speaker 1: That was a close game. They got tougher the Baltimore game, obviously.
- 1:23:36Speaker 1: I mean I remember Miami and Jets. I think we're
- 1:23:38Speaker 1: both kind of Jets was like a twenty to ten grind. Yeah,
- 1:23:41Speaker 1: with like Moroni, a bunch of kids. Maroni ran for
- 1:23:44Speaker 1: a hundred yards like every game down the stretch and
- 1:23:46Speaker 1: in the into the playoffs and then until the Super Bowl,
- 1:23:49Speaker 1: and they didn't run for anything. Right, Uh, let's go
- 1:23:53Speaker 1: back to the phones. Brandon's in Oregon. What's up, Brandon?
- 1:23:56Speaker 1: Go ducky. Hey. I was thinking last night going into
- 1:24:02Speaker 1: this Jets game this week, I was curious over the
- 1:24:07Speaker 1: Bill era, you know, the last twenty twenty years or whatever.
- 1:24:11Speaker 1: Do you guys think this is besides maybe the Bart
- 1:24:14Speaker 1: Scott Sanchez team you guys are just talking about, is
- 1:24:16Speaker 1: this maybe the best Jet team that Bill has gone
- 1:24:20Speaker 1: up again and it's time here since then? Probably? Yeah? Yeah,
- 1:24:24Speaker 1: I mean the Rex are certainly since the Rex Ryan teams. Yeah,
- 1:24:27Speaker 1: like Rex Ryan had it going there for a few years.
- 1:24:30Speaker 1: They had some personnel, um, but since then, this is
- 1:24:35Speaker 1: probably the best they had. The one year with Brandon
- 1:24:38Speaker 1: Marshall and yeah, what's Eric Decker? You knew exactly who
- 1:24:43Speaker 1: I was thinking about that they were. I think they
- 1:24:45Speaker 1: won ten games that year. They were pretty good. But
- 1:24:49Speaker 1: this is probably the best team that they've had since
- 1:24:51Speaker 1: Rex Ryan. I think it's just the quarterback play, because
- 1:24:52Speaker 1: I mean Mark Sanchez sometimes you got bad Mark Sanchez,
- 1:24:56Speaker 1: and you know, and and you know what Zach Wilson
- 1:24:58Speaker 1: has done. And that's why I up like the twenty
- 1:25:00Speaker 1: ten playoff game where you know, mar Sinantis just came
- 1:25:03Speaker 1: in here and played out of his mind, played perfectly,
- 1:25:05Speaker 1: and you know, I don't think he really did that
- 1:25:07Speaker 1: very often in his career, but you just you never know.
- 1:25:09Speaker 1: And that's what scares me about this game is was
- 1:25:11Speaker 1: you know, Zach Wilson suddenly going to decide to I
- 1:25:13Speaker 1: don't think I'm gonna give the game away today, Guys, like,
- 1:25:15Speaker 1: if he makes that decision, then, uh, you know, I
- 1:25:18Speaker 1: think it's I mean, I think Evan tweeted out today
- 1:25:20Speaker 1: where you know, two of the worst quarterbacks in the
- 1:25:22Speaker 1: league under pressure, it's just going to kind of come
- 1:25:24Speaker 1: down to mistakes between the two quarterbacks and who makes fewer.
- 1:25:27Speaker 1: And you know, hopefully Zach Wilson continues what he's been doing.
- 1:25:31Speaker 1: Let's get back to the emails, all right, I sound
- 1:25:35Speaker 1: like Zola. Alright, I'm just gonna jump into this when
- 1:25:40Speaker 1: I haven't vetted it yet. But ire from New Jersey.
- 1:25:42Speaker 1: He says, question for y'all, did Bill know? Did Bill
- 1:25:46Speaker 1: knew Josh would struggle down in Vegas and Alabama in
- 1:25:50Speaker 1: decline making Billy Oh available. I feel like Fred very
- 1:25:53Speaker 1: amount of these emails is Maddi p just a placeholder
- 1:25:57Speaker 1: for one season. Also, I just want to add that
- 1:25:59Speaker 1: Evan is wrong when he said last week that Zapp
- 1:26:01Speaker 1: he got drafted ahead. I'm leek Willis. Willis was actually
- 1:26:03Speaker 1: a third round pick. So Evan, get your fact straight, man. Uh,
- 1:26:07Speaker 1: just in full disclosure, I corrected that. On the plus,
- 1:26:11Speaker 1: Evan doesn't like the college game. No, even though everybody
- 1:26:14Speaker 1: in the NFL comes from college, he has no need
- 1:26:16Speaker 1: for college football. Correct. I don't that. I don't understand.
- 1:26:20Speaker 1: I don't get it. I respect it. I respect you know,
- 1:26:23Speaker 1: it's like they they were all born in the NFL.
- 1:26:26Speaker 1: You know. Well, I I mean, I get like my
- 1:26:30Speaker 1: thing with college football is it's just it's all big
- 1:26:32Speaker 1: place penalties and turnovers that you know, it's just like
- 1:26:34Speaker 1: like it's hard to get as I think it's become
- 1:26:38Speaker 1: exactly the same as the NFL now, the way that
- 1:26:40Speaker 1: they play offense, it's like just spread stuff. And yeah,
- 1:26:44Speaker 1: now I just I watch FCS now, I'm a holy Cross,
- 1:26:46Speaker 1: you know, my holy Cross. I just I like the
- 1:26:49Speaker 1: the I don't watch college football crowd though. Like when
- 1:26:52Speaker 1: when you know, you like, February and March roll around
- 1:26:55Speaker 1: and they start, you know, they do all their draft
- 1:26:57Speaker 1: prep and they're like, uh, you know you see this
- 1:26:59Speaker 1: Stroud kid, right, he's pretty good. Like you know that's
- 1:27:03Speaker 1: gonna being about ten months from now. I know I
- 1:27:05Speaker 1: always feel stupid like coming to that late, but uh,
- 1:27:09Speaker 1: that's what it is. Um Mark writes in what's the
- 1:27:12Speaker 1: deal with Time Montgomery? Is he coming back this year?
- 1:27:14Speaker 1: Or is he done? I he's If he didn't come
- 1:27:16Speaker 1: back this week, it's probably starting. Have you heard anything
- 1:27:18Speaker 1: about Time Montgomery? Because I find it odd all of
- 1:27:20Speaker 1: a sudden, how his Uh what was he back on
- 1:27:23Speaker 1: the field or no, no, no, no, no, nobody nobody.
- 1:27:29Speaker 1: He's been on IR for like two months. Oh but
- 1:27:32Speaker 1: he wasn't designated to return or what he was. They
- 1:27:35Speaker 1: don't like, you don't have to do that, you know,
- 1:27:37Speaker 1: like you just activate him as designated to return. He
- 1:27:40Speaker 1: comes back to practice, Okay, So I like if he
- 1:27:43Speaker 1: goes back out in the practice field, then that that
- 1:27:45Speaker 1: access designated for return. Then they have a week to
- 1:27:48Speaker 1: activate him. Yeah. I mean Rees asked Bill a couple
- 1:27:51Speaker 1: of weeks ago specifically about him, and he kind of
- 1:27:53Speaker 1: got there and he flat outs to no, Yeah, so
- 1:27:56Speaker 1: I don't know, I'm not I'm not really pulling out hope. Um,
- 1:27:59Speaker 1: one more of this, He asked me, Mike, I heard
- 1:28:01Speaker 1: you mentioned somewhere that there was a marker where Vinitarius
- 1:28:03Speaker 1: kick happened in the old stadium. Is their quick way
- 1:28:05Speaker 1: to explain where this is. I'm familiar with the stadium
- 1:28:07Speaker 1: area and would like to check it out. So it
- 1:28:10Speaker 1: was in um, what was it called, the old store
- 1:28:13Speaker 1: Olympia Sports. Yeah, it's it's somewhere by Olympia and Warmtown. Yeah,
- 1:28:18Speaker 1: and I think they just took over. It's like a
- 1:28:20Speaker 1: puzzle store now, so I think it would be in
- 1:28:22Speaker 1: that puzzle slash toy store they have a little Um. Yeah,
- 1:28:25Speaker 1: they actually had the marker out in the middle, but
- 1:28:28Speaker 1: that wasn't exactly where it was actually in the store. Yeah. Yeah,
- 1:28:32Speaker 1: so it's up there. I'm not sure if the new
- 1:28:34Speaker 1: puzzle store has it, but but go check it out.
- 1:28:36Speaker 1: Get a puzzle. We're talking about just before this, Yeah,
- 1:28:40Speaker 1: do you think that the emergence of Romande Stevenson as
- 1:28:44Speaker 1: a catcher. It's like I said, you know what, we
- 1:28:46Speaker 1: don't need Montgomery. No, they need they need they need
- 1:28:49Speaker 1: somebody like Montgomery bad. Okay. I was trying to think
- 1:28:52Speaker 1: last night, what do you think they need worse? Like
- 1:28:54Speaker 1: a third down James White type or a slot Julian
- 1:28:57Speaker 1: Edelman type, like, you know, one of those things. I
- 1:29:00Speaker 1: feel like those are two pieces that were big parts
- 1:29:02Speaker 1: of their of their offense that just always kind of
- 1:29:04Speaker 1: were around, and it doesn't really feel like they have
- 1:29:07Speaker 1: either of those spots. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I mean I
- 1:29:09Speaker 1: don't think it's a deal breaker. They have a lot
- 1:29:11Speaker 1: more problems on offense than we can count, but yeah,
- 1:29:14Speaker 1: I think that that they could use, you know, a
- 1:29:17Speaker 1: pass catching back as opposed to a back who catches passes,
- 1:29:20Speaker 1: which I think is reminder Stevenson, Oh little Andy Hart there. Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:29:25Speaker 1: I gotta give Chad and Atl just an acknowledgement because
- 1:29:28Speaker 1: he's been reaching out various ways saying Mac isn't the
- 1:29:32Speaker 1: guy and that he's over Max. So you get mad, though, Chad,
- 1:29:35Speaker 1: You get mad they don't they don't have the opinions
- 1:29:37Speaker 1: that you want. So that's differ between you and Fred.
- 1:29:40Speaker 1: Fred just reads them without bias. He just reads the emails.
- 1:29:44Speaker 1: I'm I'm not saying I necessarily disagree with him, but
- 1:29:47Speaker 1: I know he wants to get it off his chest.
- 1:29:48Speaker 1: So I felt like, you know, I felt like I
- 1:29:50Speaker 1: should give him the stage for it without without judging. Um.
- 1:29:53Speaker 1: Let me see, I gotta find another one here, Fred,
- 1:29:55Speaker 1: how do you do this while maintaining you know, it's
- 1:29:58Speaker 1: a little chitty chat so it's an art. It's an art.
- 1:30:03Speaker 1: Fred's very good. I do it while you're chitty chatting. Oh,
- 1:30:06Speaker 1: I have them lined up and that's why, you know.
- 1:30:08Speaker 1: When I say something and then like twenty minutes later,
- 1:30:11Speaker 1: Fred says the same thing, and I was like, thanks,
- 1:30:14Speaker 1: it's because he was reading emails. All right. I'm gonna
- 1:30:16Speaker 1: be a more understanding of Fred in that regard. And
- 1:30:18Speaker 1: I gotta I gotta read Andrew n La though he's
- 1:30:21Speaker 1: correcting you, Paul, Um, he correct away. Last week, I
- 1:30:25Speaker 1: wrote about possible reasons why the top offices might be struggling.
- 1:30:28Speaker 1: I mentioned the Rams lost ob J and Bobby Trees.
- 1:30:31Speaker 1: Paul then said the Rams didn't have Bobby Trees last year.
- 1:30:34Speaker 1: In fact, Paul Bobby played nine games for the Rams
- 1:30:37Speaker 1: before suffering an ACL tear. I guess it correct, didn't occur.
- 1:30:40Speaker 1: They didn't have him and won the Super Bowl. Bad
- 1:30:43Speaker 1: correction by you. He also wanted to correct that Evan
- 1:30:47Speaker 1: that Zappy was drafted after Malik Will So, yes, I
- 1:30:52Speaker 1: pointed that out on all right, that's all I got
- 1:30:55Speaker 1: right now for emails? What are you talking about that?
- 1:30:59Speaker 1: I'm where you going through? Oh wait, there's a there's
- 1:31:01Speaker 1: an earlier one from today. Let's see build the best
- 1:31:05Speaker 1: player possible at each position. This is uh Anthony writing in.
- 1:31:08Speaker 1: He says, pick three player skill slash traits for each
- 1:31:12Speaker 1: position that would be a top five in the league,
- 1:31:15Speaker 1: but the remaining on the list are bottom five for
- 1:31:18Speaker 1: the position. So the example would be quarterback. He has
- 1:31:22Speaker 1: six skills listed, so you get to pick three that
- 1:31:25Speaker 1: are really good, but then the other three you have
- 1:31:26Speaker 1: to be really bad. This is like build a bay.
- 1:31:29Speaker 1: I'm just trying to give everybody in a chi I
- 1:31:30Speaker 1: don't really understand. Give it a dry around here. Quarterback.
- 1:31:34Speaker 1: So that the skills are accuracy, pocket presence, slash, quickness, athleticism, speed,
- 1:31:42Speaker 1: arm strength, and size. So Mahomes Mahomes. Now, so that
- 1:31:47Speaker 1: would probably be athleticism. If you're gonna do Mahomes, you
- 1:31:50Speaker 1: probably say athleticism, arm strength, and accuracy. I mean it's Josh,
- 1:31:56Speaker 1: Allen and Mahomes for pretty much all of them, right size. Well,
- 1:32:00Speaker 1: if you just go on like pure athleticism and speed,
- 1:32:04Speaker 1: like justin Fields Lamar Jackson, Yeah, okay, only pick two. Yep.
- 1:32:08Speaker 1: You didn't even go for the third one for them. No,
- 1:32:11Speaker 1: I'm just saying like there's a lot of different things there. Yeah,
- 1:32:14Speaker 1: it's hard. I mean, if you're asking the best combination
- 1:32:17Speaker 1: Fred's got. Yeah, Mahomes and Allen have the combination. I
- 1:32:20Speaker 1: would say speed Jackson, you know, just speed because I
- 1:32:24Speaker 1: don't see a lot of people catching him. No, Um,
- 1:32:28Speaker 1: pure athleticism probably Mahomes, arm strength, Alan accuracy to accuracy.
- 1:32:35Speaker 1: You know, people are telling me that Ta is really accurate.
- 1:32:40Speaker 1: To me, I mean he's got what Drew Brees had,
- 1:32:44Speaker 1: you know, I feel like that's such a thing for
- 1:32:45Speaker 1: quarterbacks to that, Like, No, he's really accurate, like really
- 1:32:49Speaker 1: like how like with TWA I see it, but like
- 1:32:51Speaker 1: I don't know with some quarterbacks, Like is he that accurate? Though?
- 1:32:54Speaker 1: I mean is he but See, here's the thing about accuracy.
- 1:32:57Speaker 1: It's not so much Oh I can hit you know,
- 1:33:00Speaker 1: a target from forty yards away. I can hit a
- 1:33:04Speaker 1: moving target from forty yards away. So it's matching up
- 1:33:07Speaker 1: knowing your arm speed with each player on your team,
- 1:33:11Speaker 1: you know, And that to me is where the difference is.
- 1:33:16Speaker 1: You know, um, like Brady is behind players a lot,
- 1:33:20Speaker 1: you know, because there's some players that are faster than others.
- 1:33:22Speaker 1: And as a good quarterback, you know, Okay, so one
- 1:33:27Speaker 1: shows my target, I need to throw it a little
- 1:33:29Speaker 1: faster because he's faster, you know, or a little slower.
- 1:33:33Speaker 1: You know. That's that's part of being accurate in the NFL.
- 1:33:37Speaker 1: It's not just hitting you know, how can I hit
- 1:33:39Speaker 1: the barrel from fifty yards away? It's it's knowing all
- 1:33:43Speaker 1: your your receivers. That's a good point. Now, It's it's
- 1:33:47Speaker 1: there's a lot to it. Some of these are kind
- 1:33:49Speaker 1: of like ven diagrams too, where it's kind of overlapped,
- 1:33:51Speaker 1: like wide receiver. He's got speed, catching ability, lateral quickness,
- 1:33:56Speaker 1: separation and route running, toughness and intelligence. So you know,
- 1:34:00Speaker 1: like quickness and speed that kind of overlaps with separation,
- 1:34:04Speaker 1: route running, lateral quickness, separation. It's hard. You don't know that.
- 1:34:09Speaker 1: I mean in terms of just like the route running,
- 1:34:12Speaker 1: Like you ever watched Stefon Diggs, Just like this rate
- 1:34:16Speaker 1: it's an art form. Yeah, and I and I loved
- 1:34:18Speaker 1: like I loved the Minnesota guys. I don't know if
- 1:34:22Speaker 1: you guys listen to any of the radio calls that
- 1:34:24Speaker 1: were playing yesterday in Buffalo and Minnesota, and uh, the
- 1:34:29Speaker 1: Minnesota guy goes, they come to Buffalo and they decleaded
- 1:34:32Speaker 1: Stefon Diggs. Diggs are like twelve catches for hundred and
- 1:34:36Speaker 1: forty yards. It's like what what what planet does that involve?
- 1:34:39Speaker 1: Like yeah, they held them to thirty points and twelve catches,
- 1:34:42Speaker 1: Like yeah, yeah, great. I mean you have justin Jefferson,
- 1:34:46Speaker 1: Like wouldn't you just be happy if you were Minnesota?
- 1:34:48Speaker 1: Like we made a trade for a first round pick
- 1:34:51Speaker 1: and we got a guy who might even be better
- 1:34:53Speaker 1: at the very least. He's in the conversation like what
- 1:34:57Speaker 1: like what's the what's the big deal? What do you
- 1:34:59Speaker 1: what's the hatred for Diggs? I don't like Diggs. I
- 1:35:03Speaker 1: just want to get that there and now I at
- 1:35:05Speaker 1: least like can there's just something about him to me.
- 1:35:08Speaker 1: So you want to talk about it, he's good. But
- 1:35:10Speaker 1: you want to talk about route running. Take a guy
- 1:35:14Speaker 1: like Edelman. Okay, Edelman, I don't know if he was
- 1:35:17Speaker 1: a great route runner, but he was great at playing
- 1:35:20Speaker 1: off the receiver, like guy's leaning this way, I'm gonna
- 1:35:24Speaker 1: go that way, and then having a quarterback that would
- 1:35:27Speaker 1: see him do it, you know. But he was great
- 1:35:29Speaker 1: at like, you know, understanding like how to playoff a receiver. Yeah,
- 1:35:33Speaker 1: he was great at it. Yeah, it wasn't necessarily a
- 1:35:37Speaker 1: great route though. I love I loved hearing him talk.
- 1:35:40Speaker 1: I think it was last year about just the hours
- 1:35:42Speaker 1: of him and Brady and and how much best specific
- 1:35:46Speaker 1: detail goes into everything that they kind of did. And
- 1:35:49Speaker 1: you know just what Brady was demanding of and what
- 1:35:51Speaker 1: he probably pushed Edelman towards. But and you know who
- 1:35:54Speaker 1: must have been a good route runner is Welker? Oh? Like,
- 1:35:57Speaker 1: how do you get open that? Oh my gosh, how
- 1:35:59Speaker 1: do you always get just a yard beyond the stick?
- 1:36:01Speaker 1: How do you you know? Like, just it was amazing
- 1:36:05Speaker 1: as I missed a nice little player. Yeah that you found, Matt. Thanks,
- 1:36:14Speaker 1: not one of my brighter moments. All right, let's Day
- 1:36:18Speaker 1: and Bethlehem. Which is most correctable? Now? Designer routes, scheme,
- 1:36:23Speaker 1: shorter routes, players dogging routes, ol blocking. What's what's most correctable? Yeah,
- 1:36:31Speaker 1: if players are dogging it, you can correct that, get
- 1:36:34Speaker 1: rid of them. Yeah, we'll get someone out there will
- 1:36:38Speaker 1: play hard. Right, Oh, blocking too. Frank Nixon is waiting
- 1:36:41Speaker 1: in the wings. Um, all right, this is ELI and
- 1:36:47Speaker 1: Packer Land and uh, he says, guys. Since it's the
- 1:36:51Speaker 1: bye week, I've been doing some thinking. I haven't been
- 1:36:53Speaker 1: excited about a single win the team has had thus far,
- 1:36:55Speaker 1: and I think I finally figured out why. I'm ready
- 1:36:57Speaker 1: to change. We had two goats, Brady Bill, and I
- 1:37:00Speaker 1: wanted to give Bill a chance with Mac, But now
- 1:37:02Speaker 1: I'm just becoming more and more convinced that Mac isn't
- 1:37:04Speaker 1: the guy, and with his age, I'm not sure Bill
- 1:37:06Speaker 1: will be here for the next one. And after how
- 1:37:08Speaker 1: Mack and the coaching staff has been handled, do we
- 1:37:10Speaker 1: want it to be No, I don't know who else.
- 1:37:12Speaker 1: I want. Bill's the best, but it just feels like
- 1:37:15Speaker 1: we're holding on to another era rather than starting a new.
- 1:37:18Speaker 1: ELI and Packer. Well, I think, and I'm not going
- 1:37:21Speaker 1: to try to tell you how you feel. But I
- 1:37:24Speaker 1: think that there's a lot of people that haven't necessarily
- 1:37:27Speaker 1: been overly excited about the wins because of the way
- 1:37:30Speaker 1: that they've come come about. You know, like the Cleveland game,
- 1:37:33Speaker 1: I think was one that people looked and say, hey,
- 1:37:35Speaker 1: this is that was pretty exciting. They made some plays, Taekwon,
- 1:37:38Speaker 1: Thornton getting involved in the offense, Bailey Zappy thrown for
- 1:37:41Speaker 1: three hundred yards. You know, you're moving the ball. You know,
- 1:37:44Speaker 1: you took Cleveland's offense, which had been pretty productive to
- 1:37:47Speaker 1: that point, and you you held it in check. But
- 1:37:50Speaker 1: then you had games like the Colts game and the
- 1:37:53Speaker 1: Jets game, and you know in Detroit where you kind
- 1:37:57Speaker 1: of just won because the other team made a slow
- 1:37:59Speaker 1: miss bakes and set up a lot of easy field
- 1:38:02Speaker 1: goals and there was nothing really exciting about them. So, like,
- 1:38:06Speaker 1: I can't understand if you looked at some of those
- 1:38:08Speaker 1: wins and said, yeah, we won. We've won half of
- 1:38:10Speaker 1: these games, but you know, for the most part, the
- 1:38:14Speaker 1: other team just kind of handed it to us. Yeah,
- 1:38:16Speaker 1: but I do think too, and I totally agree, and
- 1:38:18Speaker 1: I mean, I think that's the heart of the whole matter.
- 1:38:21Speaker 1: And they were bad teams too. It's not even like
- 1:38:23Speaker 1: you you know, like the Jets was the best win
- 1:38:25Speaker 1: they've had, and you kind of flirted with it last
- 1:38:27Speaker 1: year with the Tampa game, the Dallas game, you know
- 1:38:29Speaker 1: what I mean, not to say that you know they
- 1:38:30Speaker 1: were great, but but you know they were competitive games
- 1:38:32Speaker 1: where you just were excited and invested and you know,
- 1:38:35Speaker 1: you felt like, hey, we're kind of going toe to
- 1:38:36Speaker 1: toe with a team right here, and you know, how's
- 1:38:38Speaker 1: it going to end at the end. But I agree
- 1:38:41Speaker 1: with the bigger, the bigger point of just you know,
- 1:38:43Speaker 1: even that Bill's game too. I mean, I know weather
- 1:38:45Speaker 1: and all that, but like after that moment, you just
- 1:38:47Speaker 1: felt like, we're back first seed. But do you have
- 1:38:50Speaker 1: any fears of the Jets doing what Buffalo did last year?
- 1:38:54Speaker 1: And like, so the Buffalo lost that game, and everybody
- 1:39:00Speaker 1: just said, they go, the Bills being the Bills, you know,
- 1:39:04Speaker 1: you know, the Jerry Thorntons, you know, Belichick renting space
- 1:39:07Speaker 1: and Sean mcdermot's come to Jesus, you know, and then right,
- 1:39:11Speaker 1: you know, everybody said they're done, right, and then they
- 1:39:13Speaker 1: go and lose in overtime the next week in Tampa
- 1:39:17Speaker 1: in a game that they probably should have won after
- 1:39:19Speaker 1: they made that amazing comeback, and you're like, they are
- 1:39:24Speaker 1: du when done. Yeah, and they never lost a game
- 1:39:27Speaker 1: Like it's like, do you have any fear of the
- 1:39:30Speaker 1: Jets maybe looking at that game two weeks ago and saying,
- 1:39:34Speaker 1: you know, we we should have won this game. We
- 1:39:36Speaker 1: just handed this game to them on a silver platter.
- 1:39:38Speaker 1: They did nothing to beat us. We just beat ourselves
- 1:39:40Speaker 1: they had, Josh Allen, I'd be afraid. I agree. No,
- 1:39:44Speaker 1: I agree with everything you just said. I think they're similarities,
- 1:39:47Speaker 1: but they're missing a huge piece of that. Josh Allen
- 1:39:51Speaker 1: refused to let them lose in that game the day
- 1:39:53Speaker 1: after Christmas. Here. I just think that's one of these
- 1:39:57Speaker 1: these feels like one of those games where you kind
- 1:39:58Speaker 1: of have to win it, but even if you do
- 1:40:00Speaker 1: win it, you're not going to really feel like and
- 1:40:02Speaker 1: they should because I think the Jets are are a
- 1:40:04Speaker 1: good team, but unless unless they go out there and
- 1:40:07Speaker 1: beat them straight up where it isn't How about if
- 1:40:10Speaker 1: nobody turns the ball over and you win sixteen thirteen
- 1:40:13Speaker 1: like there's no asterisk thing. Oh, Paulia took the words
- 1:40:16Speaker 1: out of my mouth. If the Jets don't hand you
- 1:40:18Speaker 1: the game and you win it, then it's a great win.
- 1:40:22Speaker 1: Right like if if I understand, if you if you
- 1:40:26Speaker 1: end up like plus three in turnovers again and you
- 1:40:30Speaker 1: and you win the game by a score like you
- 1:40:32Speaker 1: did the last time. Yeah, all right, okay, we won,
- 1:40:35Speaker 1: but sooner or later the other team is not just
- 1:40:37Speaker 1: going to hand us the game. And what happens when
- 1:40:39Speaker 1: we play a team with a good offense. Yeah, but
- 1:40:42Speaker 1: if if there's like not a not a tremendous amount
- 1:40:44Speaker 1: of like huge asterisks mistakes and you get to find
- 1:40:51Speaker 1: a way, you got to find a way to win
- 1:40:52Speaker 1: the game. Yeah, let's go to Ben in Newton and
- 1:40:57Speaker 1: I think they what's up? Ben? Tease for thirty doing good?
- 1:41:02Speaker 1: So here's what I'm falling about. So obviously, like off season,
- 1:41:06Speaker 1: I remember, like when we went in the off season,
- 1:41:08Speaker 1: all the worries were on the defense, right, ye obviously
- 1:41:11Speaker 1: that but like last year, think about how much our
- 1:41:18Speaker 1: defense fell off. And right now, I mean, right now
- 1:41:22Speaker 1: we're in the playoff picture, but it's only really because
- 1:41:25Speaker 1: of our defense. Do you think our defense is gonna
- 1:41:27Speaker 1: hold us? I mean, we can't have what happened last
- 1:41:29Speaker 1: year where our defense does amazing. First, it's a good question,
- 1:41:34Speaker 1: and all of a sudden we stink, Yeah, that's a
- 1:41:36Speaker 1: good question. I mean, that's exactly. That's one of the
- 1:41:38Speaker 1: things that happened last year is the defense wasn't as good. Now,
- 1:41:42Speaker 1: Paul will remind us that the other thing that happened
- 1:41:44Speaker 1: is they started playing better teams, you know, and that's
- 1:41:48Speaker 1: what's going to happen this year too. So you know,
- 1:41:49Speaker 1: and I think to the to the other emailer's point
- 1:41:52Speaker 1: of just not feeling great about wins, it's like, you know,
- 1:41:54Speaker 1: like that they're gonna have to win some of those
- 1:41:56Speaker 1: games now, Like they're gonna have to win or feel
- 1:41:58Speaker 1: good game here down the stretch if they're gonna make
- 1:42:00Speaker 1: the playoffs. Like all right, thanks Ben, it's uh, you know,
- 1:42:03Speaker 1: and again like you know, just I mean last year, yeah,
- 1:42:05Speaker 1: they got three takeaways against the Jaguars. Other than that,
- 1:42:08Speaker 1: Colts Bills, Dolphins Bills, those four games, you know, one takeaway.
- 1:42:12Speaker 1: So I just think it's the defense has got to
- 1:42:15Speaker 1: keep the pressure up. I think judeon Dietrich Wise, you
- 1:42:17Speaker 1: can't have Tetrick Wise suddenly go back to what Teatrick
- 1:42:19Speaker 1: Wise used to being. I like about this U as
- 1:42:22Speaker 1: opposed to last year, is guys are making plays. It's
- 1:42:26Speaker 1: not just Jude On, it's you know, guys all over
- 1:42:30Speaker 1: up and down the defense are making plays. And so
- 1:42:33Speaker 1: I think they're a little bit more well rounded on
- 1:42:37Speaker 1: defense this year than they were last year. Definitely not
- 1:42:40Speaker 1: the same flavor with high Tower and Van Noy and
- 1:42:42Speaker 1: you know, I know those guys made all those guys,
- 1:42:44Speaker 1: but they weren't playing that way and and and they
- 1:42:46Speaker 1: weren't and they starts the bad teams they did. Yeah,
- 1:42:48Speaker 1: earlier in the year against the bad teams, they were
- 1:42:50Speaker 1: you know, they were the Boogeyman again. But Kyle van
- 1:42:53Speaker 1: Noy at the pick six and that Thursday and Height
- 1:42:54Speaker 1: games and we were just talking about earlieras Atlanta. So
- 1:42:57Speaker 1: you know, right, that's what I'm saying. And that's when
- 1:42:59Speaker 1: you're making the plays against bad teeth. Yeah, So the
- 1:43:01Speaker 1: whole I mean, the hope is that you know, guys
- 1:43:03Speaker 1: like Gilani Tavai mac Wilson, that these new faces that
- 1:43:06Speaker 1: are playing more are you know, are not going to
- 1:43:09Speaker 1: go into a cocoon and you know kind of be
- 1:43:10Speaker 1: like the season's over, like these are guys that you know,
- 1:43:13Speaker 1: haven't won around here and have things to prove. And
- 1:43:15Speaker 1: just because it doesn't look like the Patriots or a
- 1:43:17Speaker 1: super Bowl team, you know still are going to play
- 1:43:20Speaker 1: at a high level and you know, be able to
- 1:43:21Speaker 1: to knock off some of these good teams at the
- 1:43:23Speaker 1: end of the season. Right And just because it didn't
- 1:43:25Speaker 1: happen last year doesn't mean it won't happen this year.
- 1:43:28Speaker 1: And you have opportunities against some teams that are a
- 1:43:32Speaker 1: little bit better offensively to show that you're you're a
- 1:43:38Speaker 1: you're a different defense. Like no one's asking them to
- 1:43:41Speaker 1: go out and shut out Buffalo or shut out Kansas
- 1:43:44Speaker 1: City or you know whatever. But can you can you
- 1:43:48Speaker 1: at least I knew he was gonna say that, can
- 1:43:52Speaker 1: you at least be competitive and find a way to
- 1:43:55Speaker 1: you know, win a twenty four or seventeen kind of
- 1:43:58Speaker 1: kind of a game. I mean, that's asking a lot,
- 1:44:00Speaker 1: but you know that that can happen against arizonas did it. Yeah,
- 1:44:05Speaker 1: you know, you should be able, you should be able
- 1:44:08Speaker 1: to expect something like that. You know, the Bills are tough.
- 1:44:14Speaker 1: I mean, that's a tough offense to deal with, and
- 1:44:16Speaker 1: I think they're good enough defensively that even if they
- 1:44:18Speaker 1: don't blow your doors off right away, their defense will
- 1:44:21Speaker 1: keep them in the game and allow their offense to
- 1:44:23Speaker 1: get going. Yeah. I just I don't know how as
- 1:44:25Speaker 1: a you know, as a Patriots, and you don't look
- 1:44:27Speaker 1: at what the Jets did, which you know, the Jets
- 1:44:29Speaker 1: similar team to the Patriots, good defense, offenses, you know,
- 1:44:31Speaker 1: missing pieces and sporadic and you know, if they're able
- 1:44:34Speaker 1: to pull off an upset, you know, why why can't
- 1:44:37Speaker 1: we do it? Why not? Ye? Well, yeah, I mean
- 1:44:40Speaker 1: there's always that chance. Yeah, I don't have much. I mean,
- 1:44:43Speaker 1: it looks I guess, I guess like he's trying to
- 1:44:45Speaker 1: convince if the if the season ended today, we'd be
- 1:44:49Speaker 1: in the playoffs, right, Yeah, yeah, And that's why I
- 1:44:51Speaker 1: just like, how about that? The only the only thing
- 1:44:53Speaker 1: I want, friend, I just want to be the number
- 1:44:55Speaker 1: one seed, I know, and that's and that was the refrain,
- 1:44:58Speaker 1: and that then I don't want the refrain to be man.
- 1:45:00Speaker 1: In Week eleven, we were the seventh seed, you know,
- 1:45:03Speaker 1: like that was the highlight of the season. Yeah. And
- 1:45:05Speaker 1: I know, by the way, you weren't the number one
- 1:45:07Speaker 1: seed last year at this time. It was a couple
- 1:45:09Speaker 1: of weeks later, but it's it's gonna be a similar
- 1:45:12Speaker 1: kind of situation now. The other teams are going to
- 1:45:15Speaker 1: be playing their games too, Like you're in a muck
- 1:45:17Speaker 1: of teams at five and four and tiebreakers don't count
- 1:45:21Speaker 1: in week eleven like that, you're in the playoffs right
- 1:45:24Speaker 1: now because a tiebreakers, So who knows what those tiebreakers
- 1:45:26Speaker 1: would look like, you know at the end of the year.
- 1:45:29Speaker 1: I mean that a lot of things can change, but
- 1:45:31Speaker 1: you have opportunities to beat teams that are going to
- 1:45:33Speaker 1: be in the playoff structure. Yeah, last year you couldn't
- 1:45:36Speaker 1: do it. If you do it this year, you're gonna
- 1:45:37Speaker 1: have a chance to be in the playoffs. It's all
- 1:45:39Speaker 1: in their own hands. I mean, you play Cincinnati, you
- 1:45:41Speaker 1: play Buffalo twice, you play Miami. I mean those are
- 1:45:43Speaker 1: all teams that are you know, Miami and Buffalo are
- 1:45:45Speaker 1: probably already in, but you know, Cincinnati's in the mix.
- 1:45:47Speaker 1: I mean, Arizona is you know, feels like they're kind
- 1:45:50Speaker 1: of putting things together a little bit. It's that's why
- 1:45:52Speaker 1: it's just this Jets team. They're in the playoffs right now.
- 1:45:54Speaker 1: So it's just every single game is is meaningful and
- 1:45:57Speaker 1: going to have a big impact on what they're trying
- 1:45:59Speaker 1: to do. Yeah, but it's all about the offense at
- 1:46:02Speaker 1: this point. Yeah. Yeah, and they find something they gotta do. Yeah.
- 1:46:07Speaker 1: You know, it's hard to imagine that you're gonna continue
- 1:46:11Speaker 1: to get points set up for you right every week,
- 1:46:15Speaker 1: and there's gonna there's gonna be games where you're gonna
- 1:46:17Speaker 1: be behind and you're gonna have to come back. Can
- 1:46:20Speaker 1: you do it? Can mac do it? You know? And
- 1:46:22Speaker 1: what was that stat? Twenty six points? I think twenty
- 1:46:25Speaker 1: five or more there, oh in ten or whatever something
- 1:46:28Speaker 1: like that. Yes, the very defined, a very defined. You know,
- 1:46:33Speaker 1: people were thinking the same thing about the Eagles, you know,
- 1:46:35Speaker 1: going into last night. Can they come back? And they
- 1:46:39Speaker 1: could have, They could have and they have, Like they
- 1:46:42Speaker 1: went down fourteen nothing early in the game against Jacksonville
- 1:46:45Speaker 1: at home and a driving rainstorm. That was before Jacksonville
- 1:46:48Speaker 1: started losing. Yeah, Um, they have at least done it. Um.
- 1:46:54Speaker 1: Then they've won shootouts, they won thirty eight thirty five
- 1:46:56Speaker 1: earlier in the year. Like they've won different ways. The
- 1:46:59Speaker 1: Patriots haven't. Patriots haven't won in different ways. They win
- 1:47:02Speaker 1: one way, they get the lead in a lower scoring
- 1:47:05Speaker 1: game and they win. Yeah, It's just kind of a
- 1:47:07Speaker 1: contrast too for me of of watching the Eagles and
- 1:47:10Speaker 1: you know, like a guy like Davante Smith and you know,
- 1:47:13Speaker 1: the Patriots taken him, I feel like there'd be so
- 1:47:15Speaker 1: much he's got to be the guy, Like he got
- 1:47:17Speaker 1: to be the number one and like there he's like
- 1:47:20Speaker 1: their slot receiver. Like I mean, you know what I mean.
- 1:47:21Speaker 1: It's like these teams that draft well in the first
- 1:47:25Speaker 1: round and you know they're they're down a little bit,
- 1:47:28Speaker 1: they maybe ta have a few different picks. But you've
- 1:47:30Speaker 1: seen it with the Jets too, where it's multiple first
- 1:47:33Speaker 1: round picks that are starting to come into their own
- 1:47:34Speaker 1: and you're starting to see the talent take over in
- 1:47:37Speaker 1: these games. And you know, you're seeing these teams that
- 1:47:39Speaker 1: are progressing and getting better because they're they're having quality
- 1:47:43Speaker 1: drafts after draft actors calling the shots for personnel at Miami, Miami,
- 1:47:47Speaker 1: who is it Chris my old neighbor. Well something he's doing.
- 1:47:52Speaker 1: I mean it was heartening for like, you know, fans
- 1:47:56Speaker 1: um that want the star power to see them, you know,
- 1:48:00Speaker 1: get Hill, you know, go after Wattle, and both of
- 1:48:04Speaker 1: them are working, you know, like go after the league.
- 1:48:07Speaker 1: The skilled players pay the money for the guy, draft
- 1:48:11Speaker 1: the other guy high and it works. Is there a
- 1:48:13Speaker 1: guy where you think that they could so a j
- 1:48:16Speaker 1: Brown last year? Because I think that you're able to
- 1:48:18Speaker 1: put DeVante Smith in the spot that you want him
- 1:48:21Speaker 1: in because you went out and got an alpha on
- 1:48:22Speaker 1: the other side. So is there a move like that
- 1:48:26Speaker 1: that maybe you could see the Patriots trying to do
- 1:48:29Speaker 1: and you know, in the off season going out and
- 1:48:32Speaker 1: targeting good because essentially in a calendar year like Jerry
- 1:48:38Speaker 1: Judy's one that was talked about a lot of the
- 1:48:40Speaker 1: trade deadline. Sure, yeah, I mean I'd love it. Would
- 1:48:44Speaker 1: you give a first round pick for him? Nah? Judy? Yeah,
- 1:48:49Speaker 1: So you don't really want one like that's what it takes.
- 1:48:52Speaker 1: I want I want like someone even better? Yeah, I
- 1:48:55Speaker 1: mean okay, And how much did Miami put into their
- 1:48:58Speaker 1: offensive line too? Because I mean I think you're seeing
- 1:49:01Speaker 1: these teams certainly the Jets of have invested in the
- 1:49:04Speaker 1: offensive line that hasn't worked out like they've hoped it would,
- 1:49:07Speaker 1: but the other parts kind of have. It's just such
- 1:49:09Speaker 1: a balancing act on offense because I think this offseason,
- 1:49:12Speaker 1: because that was the one first round pick that's that's
- 1:49:14Speaker 1: busted on him, and that's where they're lacking because you know,
- 1:49:18Speaker 1: Vera Tucker was a great pick for them and he's
- 1:49:20Speaker 1: hurt now. But Beckton wasn't playing great when he was healthy,
- 1:49:24Speaker 1: so that's that's been a killer for them. But you know,
- 1:49:26Speaker 1: from Miami, they went out and signed Armstead from New
- 1:49:29Speaker 1: Orleans as a left tackle and he's been in and
- 1:49:32Speaker 1: out too, he's been hurt, but it at least has
- 1:49:35Speaker 1: given them an anchor on that offensive line. I think
- 1:49:37Speaker 1: it's like a preview of what we're going to be
- 1:49:39Speaker 1: talking about in the spring because we're probably going to
- 1:49:42Speaker 1: come out of this season thinking, I mean, you know,
- 1:49:44Speaker 1: Isaiah Win has probably gone, so you're gonna definitely need
- 1:49:47Speaker 1: a starting tackle. I'm sure people could meet the argument
- 1:49:49Speaker 1: for you know, upgrading Trent Brown, but like you look
- 1:49:52Speaker 1: at what Philadelphia did, So is it gonna be we
- 1:49:55Speaker 1: gotta protect Mac or is it gonna be we gotta
- 1:49:58Speaker 1: get Mac? You know, a real up and with you know,
- 1:50:00Speaker 1: with Agalore his contracts up, Jacobe Myers contract is up,
- 1:50:04Speaker 1: I mean you're gonna have to do something at that position.
- 1:50:07Speaker 1: So well, what about this? How about you target the
- 1:50:10Speaker 1: skill guys early mid round? You target the offensive lineman
- 1:50:15Speaker 1: and you go hire yourself like kick ass offensive line coach.
- 1:50:20Speaker 1: I mean, and that's kind of what I was saying.
- 1:50:22Speaker 1: That's I don't know, John Schmerguson, Yeah, coach the hell
- 1:50:26Speaker 1: Joe Joe, you know, oh great, great offensive line coach,
- 1:50:31Speaker 1: great Offeni knows those hogs. But I mean, that's kind
- 1:50:33Speaker 1: of what I was getting at though. It's just, you know,
- 1:50:35Speaker 1: the high investment in in the in the weapons and
- 1:50:38Speaker 1: the skill position players. And I mean the Jets with
- 1:50:40Speaker 1: with Sauce Garner and Garrett Wilson and two guys who
- 1:50:43Speaker 1: have come right in and are you know, instantly impact
- 1:50:46Speaker 1: players and important positions that you know, I think the
- 1:50:48Speaker 1: Patriots don't really have, you know, young player of that
- 1:50:51Speaker 1: quality on their team, as much as you want to
- 1:50:52Speaker 1: talk about Jack Jones this successful rookie year thus far,
- 1:50:55Speaker 1: but that's you know, can you can you can you
- 1:50:58Speaker 1: make something out enohing because you're not those guys later.
- 1:51:01Speaker 1: I mean, you can find offensive lineman. You can find
- 1:51:03Speaker 1: Joe Tuney, right, you can find Shack Mason, you can
- 1:51:04Speaker 1: find just a franchise David and I know the tackle.
- 1:51:07Speaker 1: It's a little harder with left tackle. Yeah, that's the
- 1:51:10Speaker 1: only thing I would say. You know, that's a tough
- 1:51:14Speaker 1: one for me because you guys know how much I
- 1:51:16Speaker 1: like put the offensive line in the back burner. But
- 1:51:19Speaker 1: you know, like the Rashaun Slaters of the world, those
- 1:51:21Speaker 1: guys go in the first round and usually in the
- 1:51:24Speaker 1: top half of the first round, and and I haven't
- 1:51:27Speaker 1: you know, broken down the offensive line. Play. Know, there
- 1:51:29Speaker 1: were a number of tackles taken in the first round
- 1:51:31Speaker 1: this year, um, and some of them have panned out. Um.
- 1:51:35Speaker 1: You know, the kid that the Panthers took I think
- 1:51:37Speaker 1: has been okay a quantum yeah, aquanu um. But I
- 1:51:43Speaker 1: you know, you could make an argument that if I
- 1:51:46Speaker 1: have a chance to get a difference making skill position player,
- 1:51:49Speaker 1: and then I can get the tackle later, like Matt White,
- 1:51:53Speaker 1: second round tackle. Who was your anchor at left tackle
- 1:51:55Speaker 1: for you know a decade? Yeah, you know, Sebastian Volmer,
- 1:52:00Speaker 1: anchor at at left tackle for for a long time,
- 1:52:03Speaker 1: you know, at the tackle position for a long time.
- 1:52:05Speaker 1: Second round pick. Yep. It's hard to watch those guys
- 1:52:08Speaker 1: like like you know, Wattle and obviously Hill, but I
- 1:52:11Speaker 1: mean even you know, Davante Smith, just the quickness and
- 1:52:14Speaker 1: the sudden change of direction, skills. I mean, it's just
- 1:52:18Speaker 1: it jumps off the field. And I know we've we've
- 1:52:21Speaker 1: killed the Patriots weapons for for years and years at
- 1:52:23Speaker 1: this point, but it's just the eyeball test. To me,
- 1:52:26Speaker 1: It's like, you don't have a guy like just that
- 1:52:29Speaker 1: jumps off the screen with that ability to you know.
- 1:52:31Speaker 1: I mean, even Wattle a couple of plays I saw
- 1:52:33Speaker 1: him make this weekend where there's so many times where
- 1:52:36Speaker 1: you're like, oh, that defensive back is lucky he got
- 1:52:39Speaker 1: him down on that one, because if he didn't, that
- 1:52:41Speaker 1: play was gone, you know. And the Patriots they haven't
- 1:52:44Speaker 1: had a guy like that and forever, you know. And
- 1:52:48Speaker 1: I just I think we're all kind of coming to
- 1:52:49Speaker 1: the realization of And Evan talked about it like needing
- 1:52:52Speaker 1: things to be perfect for Mac. It's like, all right,
- 1:52:54Speaker 1: well what needs to be the most perfect? Does he
- 1:52:57Speaker 1: absolutely just need to feel safe in the in the
- 1:52:59Speaker 1: pocket and then it doesn't really I mean, I know
- 1:53:01Speaker 1: it will always matter, but then it can he can
- 1:53:03Speaker 1: deliver the ball to anybody and has that kind of
- 1:53:05Speaker 1: awareness smart. If every quarterback has five seconds to throw,
- 1:53:09Speaker 1: every quarterback is going to be good in the NFL,
- 1:53:12Speaker 1: you know, so you have to overcome that at some point.
- 1:53:15Speaker 1: You know, that's why it's it's yet because they're all
- 1:53:18Speaker 1: good quarterbacks, just you know, you got some of that
- 1:53:21Speaker 1: are much better than others. But if they're given time,
- 1:53:24Speaker 1: they're gonna find somebody. And I think that's what a
- 1:53:26Speaker 1: lot of like you know, Patriot, you know, Pomp Pomp wears,
- 1:53:29Speaker 1: like myself would would have said about Mac last year,
- 1:53:31Speaker 1: like all right, we got a guy who can distribute,
- 1:53:33Speaker 1: and you know he doesn't. He can just get the
- 1:53:35Speaker 1: ball out quick and you know, and that'll make all
- 1:53:37Speaker 1: the difference. And I think what we're seeing is just
- 1:53:40Speaker 1: that that the way the league is headed. If you
- 1:53:41Speaker 1: don't have one of those guys, uh, it's tough. And
- 1:53:44Speaker 1: because of those you know, quote unquote shortcomings, then you
- 1:53:48Speaker 1: got to find a way to make some some easier plays.
- 1:53:51Speaker 1: And that's evan argument with Tooa is you had to
- 1:53:55Speaker 1: work around his limitations, so you do. In doing so,
- 1:53:58Speaker 1: you go out and you make a trade like that
- 1:54:00Speaker 1: for Tyree Hill and you put him with Waddle and that,
- 1:54:04Speaker 1: and that allows you to maybe make some chunk plays
- 1:54:07Speaker 1: rather than asking him to do it all on his own. Now,
- 1:54:12Speaker 1: we could argue how much two has had to do
- 1:54:15Speaker 1: with their success. I mean I've watched enough, and more
- 1:54:18Speaker 1: often than not, I see him playing really well. Yeah
- 1:54:21Speaker 1: he delivers. All right. Um, that's gonna be it for
- 1:54:24Speaker 1: this edition of Patriots Unfilled. Like you everyone who reads
