- 4:25I know everybody's probably wondering if my voice is
- 4:27changing. It cracked a little bit over the
- 4:30last 48 hours and I've been screaming a lot.
- 4:34Not at anybody particular, but I, I mean, obviously everything
- 4:38that's going on in sports, you have to scream if you're a Jet
- 4:40fan. Are you mad about the Dante
- 4:44Moore move? Does Dante hurt the New York
- 4:47Jets? Well, ladies and gentlemen, we
- 4:49will get into that a little bit later in the show.
- 4:51I I'll give you my take on it maybe a little bit until next
- 4:55week. I do have a story out Speedy and
- 4:57I know I is it up it. Is up.
- 5:00I wanted to tell the fans what the title of the story is.
- 5:03Yeah, so why The Jets are winners?
- 5:06Because of Dante Moore is the main premise of it all.
- 5:08You Jets fans, Errol actually has a positive thought process
- 5:12on The Jets. I thought long and deep and I
- 5:15mean long and deep about this story when Dante Moore, the
- 5:20announcement, I know Nathan sent us a a group text message that
- 5:24Dante Moore is going to head back to Oregon.
- 5:28And everybody was like, there was a frenzy out there.
- 5:31For all you New York Jet fans, oh, The Jets aren't going to get
- 5:35their quarterback this year. Maybe it works best that The
- 5:38Jets don't land their quarterback this year.
- 5:41They wait until next year where there's AI would say about 5 or
- 5:476 complete quarterbacks coming out of the class and we can talk
- 5:50about that next year. But I, I know a lot of people
- 5:54over the last, I would say 15 hours were upset because Dante
- 5:59Moore was sitting there at #2 because Mendoza is the
- 6:02predominant #1 pick after the Oregon Ducks slashing.
- 6:07So a lot of people are upset that maybe The Jets don't get a
- 6:11quarterback, but maybe The Jets are sitting there at 2:00.
- 6:14Maybe they trade down and they add to their draft stock with
- 6:18which Moji has done a significant job going into the
- 6:21trade deadline and landing themselves a positive draft
- 6:26stock of players that they can land in the next two years.
- 6:30So I'm not upset about this, but I'll get into the ends in the
- 6:34outs. I did it in my story.
- 6:35If you guys want to check it out on the Worldwide Sports Radio
- 6:38Network, it's www.worldwidesportsradio.com.
- 6:43And I will say this, I know there's AI, don't know where the
- 6:46backlash this sounds coming from.
- 6:49I will say this for all you fans out there that have obviously
- 6:53asked me why are we doing the show on Wednesday?
- 6:55I am going to Montreal for the rest of the week.
- 6:59I've been very, very busy. I'm heading to Montreal on a
- 7:01like I would say a mini vacation.
- 7:04I love Canada. I went there last year in
- 7:07Toronto and obviously I went to this wine event and I there was
- 7:13a big Blizzard that happened and I parked my car in the street at
- 7:17this hotel or motel that we stayed at because we had nowhere
- 7:21else to go. We were staying at the at the
- 7:23Sheraton and what the Sheraton at in Niagara.
- 7:26It's like a four-star hotel. We had to stop somewhere because
- 7:30we were in the middle of the Blizzard.
- 7:31So we stopped at this 3 1/2 star hotel.
- 7:34It looked pretty nice. We parked our car the next
- 7:37morning, our window was bashed in.
- 7:39They stole our wine. Thank God we didn't leave our
- 7:41bags in there or our passports or we wouldn't even be home
- 7:45today. So we would have had to find a
- 7:47way to get our passports or redeem our passport passports or
- 7:52of some kind. I don't know how it works over
- 7:54there in Canada, but it was it was a horrible situation.
- 7:57So this year, instead of going to Toronto or Niagara, we're
- 8:01going to Montreal. We are driving there, but we're
- 8:04renting the car here in the United States because the rules
- 8:08and regulations and the, I don't know, the deposits that they
- 8:12want here is much lower than they are in Canada.
- 8:15And I don't have to, I don't have to worry about a deductible
- 8:18of $3000 if. So where are you?
- 8:20Where are you driving from? We are driving here.
- 8:23We're, we're driving in Long Island, from Long Island to
- 8:26Canada, Montreal, which is about 6 1/2 hours away.
- 8:30I think I, I would say it's about 6 1/2, six hours and 45
- 8:34minutes. I'm going to leave tonight a
- 8:35little bit later. Why?
- 8:37Because I miss traffic. I don't have to bump into a
- 8:41bumper to bumper traffic. I get on the I-95, I shoot up
- 8:44there and then obviously twist and turn from one Rd.
- 8:47I have to be careful because the last time I drove from Canada,
- 8:52I, I got a ticket, I, I was somewhere upstate New York and I
- 8:56didn't realize it was, it was snowing and I didn't realize
- 8:59that that particular area, the speed limit was like 30 mph.
- 9:04There's like 1, I guess there's one sign in that whole town and
- 9:10I missed it. And of course the cop was
- 9:13waiting for me and they pulled me over and I got a big time
- 9:16ticket and I had to hire a lawyer.
- 9:18It was horrible. So I'm going to stay away from
- 9:20that, ladies and gentlemen, I'm going to stay far, far away from
- 9:23that. So I don't want to pay any more
- 9:25tickets, $500 in dealing with the police over there, the Popo
- 9:30as they, they made me feel and, and The funny thing is, at the
- 9:33time I was, I was working for the fire department.
- 9:36I was a volunteer firefighter. So I pull out my volunteer
- 9:39firefighter card. You I think they would have let
- 9:42me go. Oh no.
- 9:43He took the card and he threw it back at me and says, what is
- 9:46this supposed to do for me? I said I'm a volunteer
- 9:49firefighter. He says, I don't give a crap
- 9:51what you are. I'm getting you.
- 9:52I'm giving you a ticket. You were speeding in a in a
- 9:55speed lane or going 15 miles over the speed limit like I
- 9:58knew. And and and here's another
- 10:00thing. When you go to these small
- 10:01towns, you know how your GPS tells you how fast you're
- 10:04supposed to go? Well, some of these towns there
- 10:08is there is no nothing on your GPS that tells you you're
- 10:12supposed to go 30 or 35 mph. So you're really driving blind
- 10:18on a on a thin Rd. So unfortunately it didn't work
- 10:22very, very well for me and my complaining and Brittany
- 10:26screaming at him and Brittany was Brittany was in excruciating
- 10:29pain because at the time she had a neck problem, which she had
- 10:32surgery on and she all the way home.
- 10:35I drove straight through from Canada to hear the Long Island
- 10:40in about 9 1/2 hours because I had to go through Pennsylvania
- 10:43because of the Blizzard. I had to escape the Blizzard so
- 10:46I didn't hit it head, head on. So it was horrible.
- 10:49It was absolutely horrible. I don't want to remember that.
- 10:51And thank God I I don't need to think about it anymore.
- 10:56I'm going to take another way. We've not.
- 10:57She's never been to Montreal. I've never driven to Montreal
- 11:01except on a bus when I was a kid playing hockey.
- 11:03But driving alone or driving with my girlfriend, I've never
- 11:07done that before. So this will be a first time to
- 11:10go to Montreal. So hopefully it's a lot better
- 11:12than usual. At 8:45, we'll be talking to
- 11:15Newsday. Mets beat writer.
- 11:17I think a lot of Mets fans will like this.
- 11:20Laura Albanese is going to be joining us.
- 11:22She's never been on this show. I don't remember her.
- 11:24And she's a Met beat writer. So all you Met fans, I'm sure
- 11:28you're going to be in tuned or stay tuned because Kyle Tucker
- 11:32could be a Met in the next 48 hours.
- 11:35Because there was some stories that I was reading over the last
- 11:3948 hours that the Mets sat down with with Kyle Tucker and his
- 11:43agent very within 24 to 48 hours ago.
- 11:46Had dinner with him and supposedly offered him 50
- 11:50million a year and up to five years with an opt out.
- 11:54So a players opt out. So I don't know if he's going to
- 11:57agree to that or it's something that Kyle Tucker and his agent
- 12:00is going to use to try to get bigger contract from somewhere
- 12:04else. I don't know.
- 12:05But for Met fans, you should be excited because they might land
- 12:09another big bat in the lineup. A little bit better than Pete
- 12:12Alonso, but he's again, another guy that you're buying.
- 12:15And I don't know if that's going to work.
- 12:16It doesn't bode well. Usually ask the Yankees, ask a
- 12:19lot of teams. It has worked for the Dodgers
- 12:21with the deferred money, but everybody else, for some reason
- 12:24over the last couple of years, it hasn't worked.
- 12:25But hey, we'll see. How about the Blue Jays maybe,
- 12:29maybe overspending for a guy, a guy like Kyle Tucker, because
- 12:33I've heard that they're not interested in Beau Beauchet
- 12:36anymore. I think they're going to move
- 12:38away from Beau. So lot to get into a little bit
- 12:40later in the show. The NFL divisional round begins
- 12:44this Saturday with Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills taking on
- 12:49Bo Nix and the Broncos. The Bills have a top four
- 12:54offense in both points and yards per game, while the Broncos have
- 12:59a top three defense in both yards and points per game.
- 13:04The bills also own the number one pass defense in the NFL.
- 13:09In the nightcap, Kyle Shanahan and 49ers take on possible Coach
- 13:14of the year Mike McDonald to and and top seeded the Seattle
- 13:19Seahawks. This is a rematch of the Week 18
- 13:24game where the Seattle Seahawks won giving them the first round
- 13:29by The 49ers beat the Seattle Seahawks way back in Week 1,
- 13:35splitting this season series. In this NFC West rivalry, the
- 13:41Seahawks have the number one points per game has the number
- 13:45one points per game defense in the NFL against the 49ers
- 13:49offense, which is top ten in both yards and points per game,
- 13:54but will be without George Kittle with a torn Achilles.
- 13:59Sundays Sundays kicks at Sundays games kick off with the with CJ
- 14:05Strout and the Houston Texans traveling to Foxborough to match
- 14:08up with Drake May and the Patriots.
- 14:11Both teams have excellent defenses, with the Texans ranked
- 14:15near the top of the league in mostly everything every
- 14:19category. Quarterback Drake May will have
- 14:22to get his offense going after only scoring 16 points last week
- 14:27against a tough Chargers D Finally, Sean McVeigh and the
- 14:33Rams travel to Chicago to take on rookie head coach Ben Johnson
- 14:39and the Bears. These two offenses are elite.
- 14:43The Rams ranked number one in the NFL with MVP favorite
- 14:47Matthew Stafford at quarterback and stud wide receiver
- 14:52Pukanakua, while 2 thousand 2024's number one pick Caleb
- 14:57Williams looks to keep the magic going after a huge comeback win
- 15:03over the Packers in the Wild Card game.
- 15:07Everybody here in New York can't wait until this game against the
- 15:14Broncos. And again, it's not a prime time
- 15:17game. It's it's the first game of the
- 15:21weekend and that to me throws me off.
- 15:25I Josh Allen, it is to me the best quarterback out of all
- 15:29these quarterbacks still in the playoffs.
- 15:33He's the big superstar. This is the guy that.
- 15:36Do we, Do we know why they like schedule those games?
- 15:41Like do they pick a? Game No.
- 15:43The NFL. You know why that?
- 15:45I have no idea why the NFL decided to go with the Buffalo
- 15:48Bills as the first game, and the NFL has their own obviously
- 15:52choices. Maybe they think the headlining
- 15:54game is Seattle in the 49ers being that the the Seattle
- 15:58Seahawks in the 49ers have played against one another a
- 16:01significant amount of times in both games were fun to watch.
- 16:04I don't know, but I will say this, watching the Buffalo Bills
- 16:09last week and seeing what Josh Allen is as as a player on his
- 16:15team as an important piece to that team, it only shows you why
- 16:21I believe this is a prime time game.
- 16:23Everything you think about when it comes to quarterback play,
- 16:27when you want a strong arm, a guy that can move outside of the
- 16:29pocket, run through people, run through walls, when it comes to
- 16:33getting first downs, this is what this man does.
- 16:36And I'm not saying Bo Nicks isn't a good quarterback.
- 16:39I'm not saying Bo Nicks can't win this game in Denver.
- 16:43This team was the number one seed in the AFC, but a very weak
- 16:47AFC. All season long.
- 16:48It was either the Broncos or the Patriots.
- 16:51The Patriots with their, I guess, scale of schedule when it
- 16:55comes to their teams that they played and the Broncos who
- 16:58really barely won most of their games, they should have lost
- 17:02against The Jets. If we go on and on and on about
- 17:05their record and their complete games, especially finishing
- 17:09games the way they did, they remind me of the Minnesota
- 17:12Vikings when they played the New York Giants, when the Giants
- 17:15knocked them out in the divisional game.
- 17:17Remember that to me? But it's also author viewership
- 17:21two of those games to like you, you look at time zones and and
- 17:26all the other stuff. So I, I think that's probably
- 17:29what goes into it of understanding how much I you're
- 17:35going to get on the game, even though like as, as we see it, we
- 17:39see the best game that should be prime time.
- 17:42Dude, the best game is no doubt the Buffalo Bills I.
- 17:45Don't know I I'm not disagreeing.
- 17:47And the Broncos, first of all, the Broncos are West, they're W
- 17:51team central, whatever. They are right behind Las Vegas.
- 17:54So they're 3 hours a difference over here from New York.
- 17:59And, and to me, I'd rather see Buffalo Bill, the Buffalo Bills
- 18:03in a prime time game, maybe move Seattle, or maybe you take
- 18:07Seattle, move them to the second day and move the Patriots as
- 18:10game #1 Why does anybody want to see the Texans versus the
- 18:14Patriots? I know it's game number one on
- 18:16Sunday. I don't want to watch that game.
- 18:19The Patriots, yeah, they were the number two seed.
- 18:21Where they really are, they really worth the time and energy
- 18:25to watch? Yeah, Drake May is a MVP
- 18:28candidate. That's because honestly, when
- 18:30you look at the the quarterbacks that played this year, Lamar
- 18:33Jackson wasn't healthy this year.
- 18:35You know, Joe Burrow wasn't healthy this year.
- 18:37If you Patrick Mahomes wasn't healthy this year.
- 18:39So you you look at the the quality of quarterback play, of
- 18:43course, you look at Matthew Stafford as a veteran.
- 18:46You would think after what Matthew Stafford did and
- 18:49probably the hardest division in football this year, you would
- 18:52give it to him. But everybody likes Drake May
- 18:54because of Drake May winning 10 games in a row and what Drake
- 18:57May did all season long. And then last week, I wouldn't
- 19:01say had the best game, but played against Justin Herbert,
- 19:04who is I? I'm not playing with Justin
- 19:06Herbert, an offensive line that was 100% not healthy.
- 19:10He lost Slater and Alt Earl Slater or before the season
- 19:13started, alt before the season even went to the second-half.
- 19:17So you lost a significant amount of talent before you even got
- 19:21into the playoffs. And Jim Harbaugh, just there's a
- 19:23little bit of credit for what they did.
- 19:24But to get back to the Josh Allen situation, Josh Allen
- 19:28doesn't have superstar wide receivers.
- 19:30He doesn't. He's got one of the elite
- 19:33running backs in the league. And Cook and, and Cook didn't.
- 19:37James Cook didn't look very good last year.
- 19:39Last week he didn't. And I, I want to see more of
- 19:43this running game that has been the best running game in the NFL
- 19:47all season long if they expect to beat the Broncos.
- 19:50And the Broncos are one of the best run stopping teams in the
- 19:53NFL, one of the best all around defenses in the NFL.
- 19:57You wouldn't believe that when you think about who the head
- 19:59coach is and Sean Payton. Sean Payton, who's an offensive
- 20:03mighty coach. And going into the season, when
- 20:05we had Sanderson on the show before the season started, I
- 20:08asked him who is your second optional player that's going to
- 20:12catch the ball? And he couldn't answer me.
- 20:15Who did he give? US Pat Bryant, a rookie.
- 20:18A rookie. And maybe that's the reason why
- 20:20this is the first game of the weekend, because there's no
- 20:23superstar wide receivers on both sides of the ball.
- 20:26There really isn't there there. There are great wide receivers,
- 20:31but one great wide receiver. But there's no elite wide
- 20:35receivers in this. Game.
- 20:37There's definitely no elite tight end.
- 20:38No, no. So.
- 20:40You got you look at two from the viewership side, like Bills fans
- 20:44are crazy. Like that's that's just.
- 20:45That's why, that's why. So they're, they're going to
- 20:48watch no matter what time the game's on, right?
- 20:51You want the younger kids to watch this game and and again
- 20:54during the during Saturday afternoon.
- 20:57What are kids doing? They're playing sports, they're
- 21:00hanging out with their friends. It's still kind of light
- 21:02outside. I I mean, it's getting dark, but
- 21:04their parents are letting them go out and play video games.
- 21:07You want these kids, especially here in New York.
- 21:10And New York is such a big market.
- 21:11The Buffalo Bills have such a great following.
- 21:14What are you going to do? You're you're this is
- 21:16back-to-back weeks where you have the Buffalo Bills not at a
- 21:20prime time game. And that's where Jabba, we could
- 21:23go back and forth on why the NFL does this.
- 21:26And yeah, maybe they look at how many, how many clicks are on
- 21:31whatever they, how they rate the, the games or something.
- 21:34I don't know how they do it. The NFL doesn't give us that
- 21:37information on how this all works and how they decide from
- 21:40one team to another or one game to another in a divisional,
- 21:44divisional series. What I do know is I I look at
- 21:47the Broncos and I look at the the Buffalo Bills.
- 21:52Whoever wins this game I believe is probably going to get to the
- 21:56Super Bowl. As good as the Texans defense is
- 22:00and how good they looked against the Pittsburgh Steelers, it's
- 22:03the Pittsburgh Steelers. It's the Pittsburgh Steelers.
- 22:06It's Aaron Rodgers who's like 80 years old.
- 22:10This is this is a different both these teams, the Buffalo Bills
- 22:14and the Broncos are two different teams.
- 22:16If they match up against the Broncos, it's defense versus
- 22:19defense and it's not going to be much of offense.
- 22:21It's going to be one of the most boring games to watch watching
- 22:24the Broncos and the Texans. And then if you look at the
- 22:27Buffalo Bills and the Patriots, well, a lot of people predict
- 22:29could happen. I don't know if I want to watch
- 22:32that game either, even though both, both games this year were
- 22:35fun to watch. I, I just, I, to me as a
- 22:39football fan, I don't want to see the Buffalo Bills and and
- 22:42Josh Allen play against the New England Patriots and Drake May
- 22:45to watch the New England Patriots obviously get lucky and
- 22:49jump ahead of the Buffalo Bills and go to another Super Bowl
- 22:53with another quarterback. I don't want to see that.
- 22:56Now it could happen and I'm not complaining about that, but the
- 22:59NFL has to look at these particular games and and wonder
- 23:03how did, like you said, how do they choose from one game to
- 23:06another on where they start the prime time game or where, which
- 23:09team or what, what game they're going to put at prime time and
- 23:11what game they're going to put out the game before I I don't
- 23:14get it. But again, looking at this game,
- 23:17it's it's really the the two defensive teams.
- 23:21The Buffalo Bills are one of the best pass rushing defenses in
- 23:24the league, but they can't stop the run.
- 23:27And the Broncos, who lost the running back early in the
- 23:30season, have this kid Harvey, who a lot of people like.
- 23:33Is he going to have a lot of pressure on him?
- 23:36And are the Broncos going to put Sean Payne, going to put a lot
- 23:39of pressure on him to take the pressure off his young
- 23:41quarterback at Bonex? Because Bonex has been here
- 23:44before, but he came up short. He's seen this before.
- 23:50Sean Payton has done a successful job with a with a
- 23:54rookie quarterback while second year quarterback.
- 23:56But the way I still look at it, he's still a young quarterback
- 23:59who's played college football till the age of 2425.
- 24:03So he's one of the older second year quarterbacks we've seen in
- 24:06a very long time. Has been successful in his
- 24:09freshman year and has been up and down in his sophomore year.
- 24:13I don't know if I'm up to watching this, I'm going to
- 24:15watch it. Obviously, I'm rooting for the
- 24:18Buffalo Bills, but there's nothing in this game that stands
- 24:21out to me. Really nothing.
- 24:23The battle of the coaches, really.
- 24:25I know Sean Payton has a heavy advantage and everybody's going
- 24:28to give Sean Payton the heavy advantage.
- 24:31Now, that doesn't mean Sean Payton's going to win, but Sean
- 24:33Payton's the only one out of these two coaches that have won
- 24:36a Super Bowl before. And again, when everybody, all
- 24:40the giant fans out there are so excited about John Harbaugh, if
- 24:43they land John Harbaugh, I mean, half of these guys, Mike
- 24:46Tomlin's won one Super Bowl, Mike McCarthy won one Super
- 24:49Bowl, John Harbaugh won one Super Bowl.
- 24:52So you you look at the game advantage in this game,
- 24:55obviously winning goes to Sean Payton.
- 24:58But the Buffalo Bills have been here every single year, and this
- 25:03is your chance. They don't have to jump Lamar
- 25:05Jackson. They don't have to jump the
- 25:07Cincinnati Bengals. They don't have to jump Patrick
- 25:10Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs, who are their
- 25:13kryptonite. It's been that way for the last
- 25:17few seasons. This is his stance.
- 25:19You knock off the Broncos, you can book their way to the Super
- 25:23Bowl. I think they beat the Texans.
- 25:25I think they beat the Patriots. This is their chance.
- 25:28When I, when you look at this game, I, I mean it.
- 25:31There's nothing that I really speed.
- 25:33Does anything in this game stand out to you that you're excited
- 25:36to watch? Yeah, it's interesting because
- 25:38the Broncos running attack has been good in the second-half of
- 25:41the season. But again, is it enough for you
- 25:43could trust a rookie to just do things randomly all at once?
- 25:45And we saw that in the Super Bowl run the Broncos had with
- 25:48Peyton Manning. They had Ronnie Hillman and CJ
- 25:50Anderson, guys like that break out of nowhere.
- 25:52So if they could expose that match of advantage in the game
- 25:55because they do have the offensive line.
- 25:56The Broncos offensive line and the Bills offensive line are
- 25:58both top five in the league this year.
- 26:00But the Broncos cannot win if with a high passing volume and
- 26:03expect to be able to win this game because the Bills secondary
- 26:06has been very good and the Bills pass rush is still very good.
- 26:09That's not my question. I asked you why do you think
- 26:12this game is so exciting? If if you're not a fan or you're
- 26:15not interested in football and some of your your girlfriend
- 26:19pops on a football game and you're not interested in sports,
- 26:23what would sell you about this game?
- 26:25Potentially turnovers I think for one with their.
- 26:27With, oh, that's what it is, potential turnovers.
- 26:30That's why I'm going to watch the game.
- 26:32If you were a new fan and you wanted to watch this game, what
- 26:37would sell me to watch this game?
- 26:40Give me, give me your sale. Pitch Well, yeah, the main thing
- 26:42is Josh Allen, obviously, he's the most talented quarterback
- 26:44right now in the league and. That's your sale pitch.
- 26:48I'm just. Analyzing a a thing.
- 26:50Like I'm asking you give me a sale pitch.
- 26:53I'm not. I'm analyzing a game.
- 26:54I'm I'm analyzing you on you trying to sell me to watch this
- 26:59game because to me, when I look at I want to see this as a
- 27:02product on game because I want to see Josh Allen and the
- 27:05Buffalo Bills on a product on game because this is a New York
- 27:07team. But besides that, if you were
- 27:10trying to sell this to a sponsor, how would you sell it?
- 27:15Josh Allen? That's it.
- 27:16What if if you're watching, you've watched both these teams
- 27:19all season long and I've watched both these teams and up and down
- 27:22the Buffalo Bills have been up and down all season long.
- 27:25They're they they picked up their their games in the
- 27:28second-half of the season. Josh Allen really had to pick up
- 27:31his game. He didn't have the season he had
- 27:33last year. But I don't even think Josh
- 27:34Allen should have won the MVP last year.
- 27:37Lamar Jackson should have, but if I look at this game and I'm
- 27:41looking at the Broncos, obviously Jabba's his.
- 27:43His son. Cart is a big Broncos fan.
- 27:46If you're not a fan of any of these teams, what would you do
- 27:50if you were trying to sell this game to a fan that's not
- 27:52interested? Yeah, it's not.
- 27:54Again, it's not a team that's it's not either one of these
- 27:56teams that have one flashy receiver.
- 27:57I think that's maybe where you're the angle you're getting
- 27:59at because that's the other position that gets a lot of
- 28:01hype. Obviously outside of the
- 28:02quarterback and you talk about it like Courtland Sutton's
- 28:04really the only receiver that is like a is a star in any.
- 28:07He's not a * he's a great pleasure.
- 28:09Yeah, again, he's in that second tier of all right, He's
- 28:12observing of his contract, A20 plus $1,000,000 a year wide
- 28:15receiver. But again, that's what you're
- 28:16looking at when it comes to those flashy names because James
- 28:19Cook would be the other one that is kind of a flashy name.
- 28:21But Even so, he's a fourth year running back that really only
- 28:24started to get going in the second-half of the 2023 season.
- 28:27But Speedy, you're right. I think like where Errol's going
- 28:32with it. But I think you said it's like
- 28:35it is Josh Allen. And that's kind of what what we
- 28:37talked about previously is like those one ABC guys of franchise
- 28:44quarterbacks. And what changes the team like
- 28:47Josh Allen is the drive. And I think what Arrow was going
- 28:51towards was like, what, other than Josh Allen?
- 28:54Because let's, let's, we're stating the obvious.
- 28:58What other gets you excited about it?
- 29:01No, I understand what you guys are saying.
- 29:03You're right because most of these other teams are built on
- 29:05the offensive line when the Broncos and the Bills both have
- 29:07top five and they have pass rushes.
- 29:09Broncos are definitely top five pass rush and the Bills are
- 29:11probably a top 10. So they're built in the trenches
- 29:13that don't have as much of the flash.
- 29:14We know defense wins championships, but the NFL has
- 29:17built the league on offenses and and both teams.
- 29:21When you look at Sean Payton, he has been Mr. Offense.
- 29:24He came from the Saints. He came from Drew Brees 5000
- 29:28hard seasons with Drew Brees, dominant offenses from the
- 29:31Saints year in and year out. Their defenses were good as we
- 29:35all know that the gates that that happened over there.
- 29:38Yeah. And then they fell off badly
- 29:39after that. Yeah, but again, you you expect
- 29:43Sean Payton to put up big time points in and this year their
- 29:46offense wasn't elite. I'm sorry they weren't.
- 29:49And Bonex had his big days and his big games where they were
- 29:52against bad teams mostly. Yeah, I was going to say a lot
- 29:55of he's had a lot of big. Games, but just not enough
- 29:57consistency and that's why their offense is still outside the top
- 29:5910 as a result. So maybe that's why the NFL
- 30:02decided to move. That's where I was getting at.
- 30:04Maybe the NFL was looking at the Broncos and looking at the Bills
- 30:08and saying, hey, this is not going to be a highly profiled
- 30:12offensive game. This is, this might scare our
- 30:15sponsors away because this could be a low scoring game, which
- 30:19more than likely when the NFL thinks about these kind of
- 30:21things, they're high scoring games.
- 30:23They're completely different the way the NFL expects them to be.
- 30:27But yes, Josh Allen is the big name.
- 30:30He's the the big draw. But back and forth, when you
- 30:33look at these two teams, I don't think there's anything about
- 30:36these two teams that makes me get hot or makes me get want to
- 30:40get high. I mean, seriously.
- 30:42Kenny Kenny will get high no matter what football games are
- 30:45at. This point, I'm just speaking
- 30:46the truth here, and maybe that's why.
- 30:48And Speaking of something that's going to get you really hot is
- 30:52the Seattle Seahawks and the 49ers, because you got CMC, you
- 30:57got him over there. Christian McCaffrey is one of
- 30:59the more elite offensive options in the NFL.
- 31:03And then you have Seattle Najigba, one of the best, if not
- 31:06the best wide receiver in the NFL.
- 31:08You have Sam Darnold, Brock Purdy, Sam Darnold, who's a top
- 31:12three pick by the New York Jets, who's flourished over there in
- 31:15Seattle. And then you have Brock Purdy.
- 31:17It was the last pick in the seventh round and has become an
- 31:21elite quarterback right in front of our eyes.
- 31:24And that was in the same draft where I, I think San Francisco
- 31:27go trade it up three first round draft picks to get a guy that is
- 31:31a, a, what is he 1/3 backup, backup corner with the Chargers?
- 31:35I mean, he's horrible. So it just shows you how the NFL
- 31:40looks at these games and that's where I was getting at.
- 31:42That's the whole point. Speedy's trying to nitpick and
- 31:46try to look at the analytics. There's nothing analytic about
- 31:49both these games except you have a team and two game, two games,
- 31:53one game that could be so very boring as we watch the Patriots
- 31:57and the Chargers play against one another in the, well, the
- 32:00second to final game, Sunday Night Football, where you would
- 32:03think Sunday Night Football is the draw.
- 32:06Everybody wants to watch Sunday Night Football.
- 32:08You know what? We watch A-60, a 16 to 3
- 32:12debacle, and we watched Drake May and, and really, I think a
- 32:17Patriot defense that's pretty damn pretty good against an
- 32:21offensive line that shouldn't have showed up because they're
- 32:24like 4th, 4th tier, you know, offensive lineman.
- 32:28They shouldn't have even played in that game.
- 32:31So that's that's where I know that's a good picture right now.
- 32:34That's a good picture right there.
- 32:36I I wouldn't, I wouldn't ask Speedy to sell anything to
- 32:39anybody. I wouldn't want to sell
- 32:40anything. But that's what you are.
- 32:42You're an analytic guy. Wouldn't you?
- 32:43Wouldn't you try to sell this? No, I, well, I would and I I
- 32:47will. I could sell the Seattle
- 32:48Seahawks. I can sell the 49er and Seahawk
- 32:52game. And I'm gonna Here's my sale.
- 32:54When you look at elite teams offensively all season long, I
- 32:59would pick both these teams. Rock Purdy, the last three weeks
- 33:02has been as good of any as any quarterback in the league.
- 33:06It didn't matter who they played.
- 33:07He was elite all. Ever since he's come back and
- 33:12then you look at a guy like Sam Darnold and what he has done
- 33:16after getting that three-year, $100 million contract by the
- 33:20Seattle Seahawks in the offseason.
- 33:22Him and Nick Jigba have been a dynamic duo and they've got a
- 33:26very great running game. Charbonnet and Walker, I mean,
- 33:31these guys are as good as a tandem in the NFL right now.
- 33:34They're. Off what do you think?
- 33:35What do you think the difference in this game is going to be?
- 33:38I think it's going to be the trenches.
- 33:40I think it's going to be what offensive line is going to take
- 33:44over the game when they need to to protect their quarterbacks.
- 33:47And I'm going to say the defenses now.
- 33:49Robert Sala last week was fantastic.
- 33:53His play calling last week was elite.
- 33:57When you look at the Eagles, the Eagles aren't an elite offensive
- 34:00team all season long, but they have elite players.
- 34:03A.J. Brown at one point was elite.
- 34:05Smith is an elite player. Goddard, they have elite
- 34:09players. Saquon Barkley, they have elite
- 34:11players. And what Robert Sala did was he
- 34:15used their his strengths of his defense.
- 34:17He had a Kendricks, what, 48 hours before the game, had him
- 34:22understand the offense, to run his offense.
- 34:24And what did he do? He made this.
- 34:27He made the Eagles beat them the way they couldn't beat teams all
- 34:31season long is use the air and they couldn't get the ball to
- 34:35their stars. They couldn't get the ball to
- 34:37A.J. Brown and they couldn't get the
- 34:39ball to Smith. And to me, that was the reason
- 34:41why I believe the 49ers won the game.
- 34:45And that's why I think this game is going to be interesting
- 34:48because you're going to have a cat and mouse game.
- 34:51You're going to have McDonald, who's one of the best defensive
- 34:54minds in the NFL right now, who's a head coach that really
- 34:57has delivered one of the elite offenses in the league and a
- 35:01very good defense all season long.
- 35:04And he he brought veteran players, ex Jets and Giants,
- 35:08Giants, Giants players to this team to help absorb the
- 35:12weaknesses that this team has had when they had guys like Pete
- 35:16Carroll there and Geno Smith. And you can see the difference
- 35:19of this team and the way they rotate their players and how
- 35:23much talent they have on their bench.
- 35:25If a player goes down, another man comes up.
- 35:28And that's that's the difference of this game.
- 35:30And that's why I think this game is going to be probably the best
- 35:32game of the weekend. Speedy is the fact, yeah, George
- 35:35Kittle is gone. It does affect the 49ers the way
- 35:38they run their offense. No doubt that it does.
- 35:41But when you look at both these teams, they have elite star
- 35:45power. Elite.
- 35:47Could you imagine if Nick Bosa was in this game or Fred Warner
- 35:51was in this game? You know much?
- 35:53That's even crazier to think about it because the 49ers are
- 35:57not being that elite defense all season long.
- 35:59But Robert Sala has figured out what his strengths and
- 36:02weaknesses are at the end of the season, and it's changed the
- 36:05factor of why the 49ers have moved on and the Eagles are
- 36:09sitting home playing golf. So I I think that this game
- 36:13stands out more than any of these games this weekend because
- 36:16of the factor of the talent on both sides of the ball.
- 36:20Yeah, I'm curious on the how the Seahawks or the Seahawks going
- 36:23to adjust to the Christian McCaffrey from the receiving
- 36:25game because they've done it in the running game so far.
- 36:27But sometimes those flat passes, that's why they kiddle injury
- 36:31hurts because they if the Seattle Seahawks had one
- 36:33weakness last year, this year has been against tight ends.
- 36:35They're not great. They're league average against
- 36:37them, so if McCaffrey or any one of these other bigger slot
- 36:41receivers can get it going for the Niners, that would be the
- 36:43adjustment. That Jawan Jennings, I mean, he
- 36:45knows how to throw the ball. Yes, Jawan.
- 36:48What kind of trick plays Kyle Shanahan could pull out?
- 36:51And then on the other end of it for the 49ers, can they get
- 36:54protection on the offensive line against that?
- 36:56Seattle interior rosters been really good this year and I
- 36:59talked about it with certain quarterbacks struggling against
- 37:01interior pressure. Rock Party I think has been one
- 37:04of them in his career. The Niners have not sometimes
- 37:07put either use Check or Kittle enough as a blocker to help them
- 37:10out. And now with use Check being the
- 37:11only guy there and having be used to receiver a lot last
- 37:14week, especially in the second-half when Kittle was
- 37:16down, will they be able to be able to block Byron Murphy and
- 37:18guys like that up front? And then on the other side, the
- 37:2149ers have game plan for Najigba pretty well each of the first
- 37:25two meetings. Najigba got it going later in
- 37:27that game, but the Niners young secondary looked really good.
- 37:30And it's your boy Bembe Salah. Can he adjust to actually be
- 37:32creative in his scheme like he was last week against Seattle?
- 37:35We will see because McDonald has always been creative in his
- 37:38scheme. Well, and that's the thing too,
- 37:40and I'm glad Fish jumped in here because I've always looked at it
- 37:46too. And you guys have opened my eyes
- 37:48to like so many different aspects of the game where now
- 37:54Errol even touched on it a little bit.
- 37:56Like what coach with this certain aspect of the game, who
- 38:03who's going to make that chess match, right?
- 38:06Who's going to who's going to put the Rook in position?
- 38:08Who's going to put the Bishop over here to get a checkmate?
- 38:12And you said it was in the trenches.
- 38:14And we have one of the best and one of the smartest people I
- 38:17know when it comes to coaching and fish, where he can give us
- 38:22such a different aspect. Because I think when you get to
- 38:26this point, everybody knows everybody.
- 38:29It's who makes those adjustments and how do you make them.
- 38:34And I think it's the talent is obviously there.
- 38:37Yeah, we're talking about viewership and all the other
- 38:40stuff. But when it comes down to this
- 38:42game, I think it's it's very different.
- 38:45And as you said it Errol, it's like it starts in the trenches
- 38:49and this is where it goes. And what is that chess match
- 38:53going to be do Do I move my pawn here or, or what do I do?
- 38:57And and as fish can can speak on this better than any of us
- 39:00because obviously when none of us are coaches, where like what,
- 39:04what move do you make? You know, Jabba, he kind of lost
- 39:08his Rook. If we're going to talk about,
- 39:11you know, the chess analogies, when you lose a guy who can do
- 39:14both receiving and blocking, it's really a big loss.
- 39:18And George Kittle's loss is going to hurt them in their run
- 39:21game and it's going to hurt them in their pass game, but more in
- 39:25the run game. I don't think people realize how
- 39:27hard it is to set the edge to run an outside play.
- 39:31And they want to run outside zone a lot.
- 39:32This is a staple of the Kubiak offense, dating back to Terrell
- 39:36Davis and his father. And in both of their fathers,
- 39:39you know this is what they want to do.
- 39:41Back right now. I will because that's where this
- 39:43offense comes from. It's from Gary Kubiak and Mike
- 39:46Shanahan, and this is the same offense with obviously a whole
- 39:49bunch of bells and whistles and some real good trickery.
- 39:52I'm going to talk about that trick play and vicious play of
- 39:54the week and after the break I have a whole bunch of stuff to
- 39:57say about it. But before we get there, I want
- 39:59to answer your question. I, as a coach, am always trying
- 40:03to see if I can't run outside. It's not easy.
- 40:06The line has to move as one and then whoever's playing tackle or
- 40:10if you have a tight end on the field, has to be really good at
- 40:12setting the edge. Jake Tongs or Tongas, I don't
- 40:15know how to pronounce his name. He's going to fill in for
- 40:17Kittle. Tongas, he's a good receiver.
- 40:19I don't know if he's going to be able to block like Kittle, and I
- 40:21would doubt it because nobody really blocks like Kittle.
- 40:23I think he's the best blocking tight end who's also a receiving
- 40:26tight end since Gronk played. No one's Gronk, but he's the
- 40:29closest thing we've had to Gronk since then.
- 40:31It's it's really tough. And then you have Trent Williams
- 40:35and you had Kittle and you can run to the left and you can
- 40:39pretty much be assured you're going to get the edge pretty
- 40:41much every time if they didn't get any penetration inside.
- 40:44CMC hasn't run as well this year as he's run in previous years.
- 40:47He's tip he's he's banging on the door of 30.
- 40:50Maybe he's not the same super athlete as far as you know,
- 40:54burst that he used to have like straight out the gates.
- 40:57I don't see it the same where he's making those moves.
- 40:59But he's still a great, great player.
- 41:01He's one of the best receiving running backs we've ever seen in
- 41:03the history of the game. It's just they don't have a full
- 41:06deck that they're playing against this Mike McDonald
- 41:08defense, and that defense is humming.
- 41:10And I'm a little concerned that Shanahan's going to have to rely
- 41:14on more trigger than he wants to in order to win this well.
- 41:16Usually, usually in these games, and I and I, I will say this,
- 41:20when, when you know you have your weaknesses, George Kittle
- 41:23is not playing, you expect that obviously there's going to be an
- 41:27advantage to the other team. But again, I've got to give Kyle
- 41:31Shanahan a little bit of credit. He's got pieces, he's got
- 41:34players on on his roster that might not be able to block like
- 41:37Kiddo, but could open up the open up the skill positions and
- 41:41and again, they have the ability to still open up the offense and
- 41:46the offensive side of the book because they have CMC.
- 41:49He's still 100% healthy. Errol that's that's where the
- 41:52chess mats comes in, though is like now that you don't have
- 41:56that piece and like Fish just said, you took your Rook away
- 42:00and now it's like, OK, how do how do I game plan?
- 42:03And now because I know I'm not going to be able to have that.
- 42:06Well, what he's going to do, and I'm going to tell you what he's
- 42:08going to do, he's going to use another offensive lineman.
- 42:10That's what he's going to do. And that's what he's what Kyle
- 42:13Shanahan has done all season long.
- 42:16George Kittle for years has been hurt.
- 42:18He the guy is not a healthy guy. He doesn't stay healthy all
- 42:22season long. The guy fights injury every
- 42:25single year because of the way he plays, he's aggressive and
- 42:28and the way he blocks. So what is Kyle Shanahan like to
- 42:30do? He likes to use 1/5 option, 1/5
- 42:33optional offensive lineman or sometimes he uses a defensive
- 42:37lineman in the way he runs his offenses.
- 42:40So I've seen him do it. He's a smart man.
- 42:42He's not a he's not stupid. He understands the offensive
- 42:45side of the game. But the problem with obviously
- 42:48over the last couple of years since Robert Sala went to the
- 42:51New York Jets was the defensive side of the ball, the play
- 42:54calling on the defensive side of the ball.
- 42:56And ever since Robert Sala left, the defense hasn't been as good
- 43:01as it was when he was there. And now you see the difference.
- 43:04You see why Robert Sala was so really important to the way the
- 43:0849ers ran their defense. And now you're seeing the
- 43:11difference. Robert Sala doesn't have elite
- 43:13players on the defensive line. He really doesn't.
- 43:16He lost two of the best players at their positions in the league
- 43:21and what is he doing? He's still finding ways to get
- 43:24to the quarterback. He's still finding way ways to
- 43:26put pressure on quarterbacks. And something that he hasn't
- 43:30done many, many times is blitzing, and he did that last
- 43:33week a lot. He blitzed something that he
- 43:36never did with The Jets. And, and, and again, that's
- 43:39something that is trickery. And maybe that's, that's the
- 43:42game plan. And I think in this game,
- 43:44they're going to have to use trickery if they're going to
- 43:47beat the Seattle Seahawks, because Seattle is very well
- 43:50built. They have a great offensive
- 43:52line, not a good a great offensive line.
- 43:55They've got star power at the running back position.
- 43:58They've got a good tight end. He's not an elite tight end, but
- 44:01he's a good tight end. And they don't have a number, a
- 44:04real top end #2 wide receiver. But pick up arguably the best
- 44:09wide receiver in the league. So when you have those kind of
- 44:13pieces and you have McDonald, who is one of the elite
- 44:17defensive minds in the NFL, and I don't want to hear anything
- 44:21from the Baltimore Ravens anymore or any fans out there to
- 44:24tell me that McDonald isn't a great defensive mind.
- 44:27Go look at the Baltimore Ravens defense since he's left.
- 44:31I mean, they they were a top five, top three defense.
- 44:34Where have they been over the last two years?
- 44:37Last year they got worse. This year they were one of the
- 44:39worst since McDonald's been gone.
- 44:41So you see how important a coach can be to run a defense.
- 44:47Speaking of important, CJ Stroud.
- 44:50And I think this game is interesting because you have the
- 44:53battle of two young quarterbacks.
- 44:56CJ Stroud, where he was rookie of the year a couple of years
- 44:59ago, this guy was probably had the best freshman year we've
- 45:03ever seen. A quarterback half.
- 45:05Bryce Young was drafted in front of him.
- 45:07And I, I remember that because Bryce Young, the Carolina
- 45:10Panthers moved up to get him and a lot of people, CJ Stroud was
- 45:14hurt when when when Carolina moved up to get him and didn't
- 45:18draft him and he thought he was going to fall out of the top 10.
- 45:21And what did he wanted to do? What did he do after he got
- 45:24drafted? He was thanking God, he was
- 45:26thanking everybody. He was thanking the organization
- 45:29and the Texans saying that you're not going to regret this.
- 45:31And I don't think the Texans ever regretted drafting CJ
- 45:36Stroud. Because if you look at what CJ
- 45:38Stroud has done as a player since he's come into the league,
- 45:42even if even his ups and downs in his sophomore year, he played
- 45:46great. This year was his third year and
- 45:49he showed you he doesn't have all his ducks in a row.
- 45:53He didn't need that in the first half of the season.
- 45:55His defense was elite. They kept the team afloat.
- 45:59And then as soon as Nico Collins got healthy and his team fairly
- 46:04found somewhat of a running game with Marx, they're they're a
- 46:07different offense. And I'm going to tell you this
- 46:10right now, the Texans have the advantage against the Patriots,
- 46:14even though it's in New England. And there's a lot of reasons
- 46:18why. And I'm not saying Drake May
- 46:19isn't special. Drake May is a great player.
- 46:22Drake May has not played against the defense this good all season
- 46:26long. He hasn't, let's be honest, he's
- 46:29never played a defense this dominant, especially in a
- 46:33secondary. So what are they going to do
- 46:35against Drake May? They're going to pressure him.
- 46:38They're going to make him put the ball in places he is
- 46:41uncomfortable doing as we saw them do it against a veteran
- 46:46superstar quarterback, one of the greatest passing
- 46:49quarterbacks of NFL history, in NFL history, and Aaron Rodgers.
- 46:53I don't know if anybody saw what they did to Aaron Rodgers.
- 46:57They made sure that Aaron Rodgers couldn't breathe in the
- 46:59pocket. They made him do things that he
- 47:02was uncomfortable doing, and that's exactly what they're
- 47:05going to do against the Patriots.
- 47:07Young offensive line. This isn't a veteran offensive
- 47:10line. This is a young offensive line
- 47:13that's never been in a position like this before at all.
- 47:17Half of these guys have never even played in a big game like
- 47:19this. So Drake May's never been in a
- 47:22big game like this. So when you think about that and
- 47:25you see you see the position that CJ Stroud's in, CJ Stroud's
- 47:29been in this position before. This guy took his team in his
- 47:33rookie season to the playoffs. This guy has been as good of of
- 47:38of quarter as good of a quarterback in the second-half
- 47:40of the season. And where from any of the young
- 47:42quarterbacks that we have mentioned over the last couple
- 47:45of weeks, he has been sensational.
- 47:47Now, I do believe the Patriots are going to put a lot of
- 47:50pressure on a bar. More is going to stress and put
- 47:53they're going to put pressure on the gaps.
- 47:56They're going to make CJ Strout move outside of the pocket where
- 48:00when you see CJ Strout move outside of the pocket, he makes
- 48:03mistakes. He doesn't step into his passes.
- 48:06He backs off on his passes. He he throws on his back foot.
- 48:10When he does that, he doesn't have as as as enough power on
- 48:13his throws. And you can see the difference
- 48:15in his game. And I'm going to tell you this,
- 48:18I don't trust the Texans offensive line either.
- 48:22The offensive line's been up and down all season long.
- 48:25It has not been a good offensive line and that has been probably
- 48:29the problem in the first half. They've got better in the
- 48:32second-half, but how much better?
- 48:35Where are they ranked right now, Speedy?
- 48:3618th. 18th against the defense and my Mike Vrabel, who Mike
- 48:42Vrabel loves to use different blitz packages.
- 48:44He loves to pressure up the seams and up the gaps and makes
- 48:49the young quarterback make mistakes.
- 48:51Bill Belichick was the king of doing that.
- 48:53He finds your weakness and he he would bury your your strength
- 48:58and, and attack your weaknesses. That's what he would do, and
- 49:01that's what Vrabel does as a head coach.
- 49:04So where do you where do you think he attacks the most in
- 49:07this game? The running game because Drake
- 49:10May is not going to have a #1 receiver anywhere close to the
- 49:14cornerback levels that Derek Stingley is.
- 49:16And obviously Kamari, even Kamari Laster on the other side,
- 49:18if he's healthy is a good #2 this year.
- 49:20And Errol talked about all the time that safety tool with the
- 49:23Texans too is really good. That's going to make it
- 49:25interesting to see how they use the pass catching running back.
- 49:27Same thing I was saying with the 49ers, if they can use that to
- 49:30counter the the pass rush because that offensive line
- 49:33edition not being very good. The Patriots is banged up too.
- 49:36Garrett Bradbury is not 100% healthy.
- 49:37Will Campbell just came back from IR and we saw fish in the
- 49:43Giants playoff game against the Vikings when Bradbury was hurt
- 49:45at the end of the year with Minnesota.
- 49:46Leonard Williams was feasting over there.
- 49:48And Houston's got a lot of guys on the interior too that could
- 49:50do the same kind of thing. So they're going to need a quick
- 49:53passing game for Drake May to make it work.
- 49:55And the running backs and the tight ends are going to be the
- 49:56best way to do that. The key is the run game.
- 49:59You're right, speed and before before I started to interrupt
- 50:02just they they fed from Andre Stevenson last week against the
- 50:06Chargers. I don't see that happening this
- 50:08year this week. This is going to be a Trayvon
- 50:10Henderson game. This is going to be an outside
- 50:13the edge. Try to use speed, try to, you
- 50:16know, do some more sweeps. Try to get outside these guys
- 50:19because you're not running inside on this Texans team with
- 50:22that line, with that offensive line, against that defensive
- 50:25line. I don't see it happening in a
- 50:26million years. So you shouldn't give it to the
- 50:27between the tackles guy. You should try to get to the
- 50:30home run guy. Now that's going to put more
- 50:32pressure on Drake May if he can't break one or two.
- 50:35We've seen him break a couple this season already.
- 50:38He's that good. It might be a defensive battle
- 50:41just like last week where it's like 1 big play could determine
- 50:44the game. Yeah, and that's where I think
- 50:46Houston's going to have to get secondary receivers because
- 50:48Christian Gonzalez gets Nico Collins will probably cancel out
- 50:51with both being big guys, but if they can.
- 50:53Get I don't think Collins is playing speedy.
- 50:55He's has a concussion. They're talking that he's not
- 50:57going to be ready. They're in a lot of trouble.
- 50:59They have Higgins and Noel from Iowa State, and I believe
- 51:02Hutchinson's also from Iowa State 3.
- 51:04Years earlier, yeah. From a few years earlier,
- 51:06Higgins look pretty good, but he's the number 2 at best in his
- 51:10rookie season. I don't.
- 51:11No one really expects him to be able to do that.
- 51:14And he's going to have one of the best corners in the world on
- 51:17him. Yeah, Schultz.
- 51:18Will have to be the guy that steps up for them.
- 51:20Yeah, it's probably going to be a lot of tight ends and a lot of
- 51:23running backs from both teams. Errol, I know you said you don't
- 51:26want to watch this game. This is going to be boring.
- 51:29No, it is. This one's the ugly game of the
- 51:30week. It's.
- 51:31The ugly If you like defense, you know, if you think Drake May
- 51:35hasn't been tested, this is the test.
- 51:37Can he pass this test? Because that defense is real,
- 51:41Will Anderson Junior is real and they got about 8 other real guys
- 51:44on that. That's.
- 51:45The most interesting game of the week and the weekend is this
- 51:49game, the Rams and the Chicago Bears.
- 51:53And I'll tell you what, because obviously the coaches and we all
- 51:57know Sean McVay is one of the best offensive minds in the NFL.
- 52:01He likes the yap. He's got one of the worst voices
- 52:04you've ever heard. I can't stand his voice.
- 52:07I can't stand it. And then you have Ben Johnson,
- 52:10who likes to curse. He's that young personality,
- 52:14gets his players amped up in the locker room.
- 52:17I love that about Ben Johnson. We heard him after they knocked
- 52:20off the Packers. We saw what he did with Matt
- 52:24Lafleur and he was trying. When Matt Lafor put his hand out
- 52:26there, he didn't even shake his hand.
- 52:28He smacked his hand. So you can see the personality
- 52:32that Brent Ben Johnson brings to the table.
- 52:35And then you look at the quarterbacks, Matthew Stafford,
- 52:38a Hall of Famer, one of the greatest quarterbacks of this
- 52:40era. And then you have Caleb
- 52:42Williams, one of the most controversial quarterbacks in
- 52:45the NFL, likes to paint his fingernails, likes to speak out
- 52:49to the press in all different ways.
- 52:52You like him, you hate him. He doesn't show up to film
- 52:54there. There are things that Caleb
- 52:56Williams has done this year that has you shaking your head.
- 52:59But his talent, his God-given talent, what we've seen over the
- 53:03last couple weeks, how many guys could do what Caleb Williams
- 53:06could do when he's at the top of his game, he's.
- 53:09But that amazing, but that's what we talked about Errol too.
- 53:12You you got to understand Ben Johnson let Caleb be Caleb and
- 53:17we've seen you you said it early in the year.
- 53:20You like you think he's going to be special.
- 53:22Well, then when I think we've talked about coaches in this
- 53:26realm, when you allow somebody to be able to be authentically
- 53:30themself, and I've said that before, you see special things.
- 53:35And we're like some of those passes that he made, like
- 53:38there's no reason he should have made those passes in that game
- 53:41in those situations. If that was Caleb the year
- 53:44before and Ben Johnson and obviously none of us, we, we
- 53:49don't know him on on an individual basis, but he's like,
- 53:54go be you, go be you. And we've seen what happened and
- 54:00it's it. It's going to be David, Goliath,
- 54:03I will say this, but it's going to be fun to watch.
- 54:04I will say this, the Rams defense has been very good all
- 54:08season long. They're young.
- 54:10Their front 7 is as good as any front seven in a league when
- 54:13they get at the quarterback. But there are games they
- 54:15disappear. And we've seen that in the
- 54:18fourth quarter against Seattle a couple of weeks ago, that
- 54:20defense different disappeared. That front 7 disappeared.
- 54:23They have to play all out against this Chicago Bears
- 54:27offensive line who have pro ball players on it.
- 54:30They have good offensive lineman on this offensive line, guys
- 54:36that have won Super Bowls before, guys that have been in
- 54:39these situations before. And again, this is a Rams
- 54:42defense that's very young. A lot of these guys had never
- 54:44been in these situations before. Pukanukua is a superstar player.
- 54:49He is he's he's fantastic to watch.
- 54:51But guess what? Roma Dunes pretty damn good too.
- 54:54So you have two elite wide receivers in this game.
- 54:58We were talking about obviously the Broncos in the and and the
- 55:01Buffalo Bills, how there's really no elite wide receivers.
- 55:05There's a dozen of them in these games.
- 55:07It what what we mentioned with the Seattle game and now the
- 55:10Bears game. This is to me as fun of the game
- 55:14to watch than any other games this weekend because you know,
- 55:17both teams don't like each other.
- 55:19Sean Mcfae is going to be gassing on his sideline.
- 55:22You're going to see Ben Johnson dancing and prancing on the
- 55:25other sidelines. You have two teams that don't
- 55:28like each other. Both offenses and defenses are
- 55:31elite of elite. And, and I'm going to tell you
- 55:34this right now, whoever wins this game can absolutely go to
- 55:38the Super Bowl. As a matter of fact, my
- 55:39prediction is I think that whoever wins this game is going
- 55:44to the Super Bowl. I don't trust Seattle with some
- 55:47of the young players in Sam Donald in an AFC title, an NFC
- 55:51title game, and I know I don't trust the 49ers with some of the
- 55:55injuries they have. I think this these two teams
- 55:58have the best all around talent out of all the teams still in
- 56:01the NFC and Job. I want to go back to what you
- 56:04were saying about the scheduling, because the the
- 56:06Bears and the Rams actually really benefit on they play a
- 56:08longer week, while the 49ers and Bills play a shorter week.
- 56:11And I think that's something that could keep these offenses
- 56:13very fresh. Because you talk about chess
- 56:15matches, Ben Johnson and Chris Shula even on the defensive side
- 56:18with the Rams, because Errol, you're talking about like they
- 56:20have a good pass rush with the Rams, but they have a lot of
- 56:23like really chess pieces. Besides that.
- 56:25They have a lot of young corners, a couple they just
- 56:27traded for just sign and safety. Same kind of thing getting him
- 56:30for. Other Could you sell this game
- 56:32speedy? I'm not trying to sell this, I
- 56:36admitted. I'm not a salesman.
- 56:37I'm a game analyst. I'm not.
- 56:39I'll let I'll let somebody else do that.
- 56:42Nevertheless, Ben Johnson coaches fearless.
- 56:45And I think that's the big thing you're looking at why they're
- 56:47here at this point as fast as they were this year in a very
- 56:49difficult division or the best division of football.
- 56:52And they have a lot of receivers that are specialist.
- 56:54Roma Dunes is a big body good possession guy still needs to
- 56:57work on his route to DJ Moore is a good quickness guy off the
- 56:59line of scrimmage and burden fishy.
- 57:00We talked about it during the draft.
- 57:02It's kind of a smaller receiver that's fast but not overly
- 57:05quick. So it's somebody is interesting
- 57:07where the Bears have to win though.
- 57:09They're going to have to run the ball really well early in the
- 57:11game because the Rams run defense is top five in the
- 57:13football and that interior on that defensive line is very
- 57:16good. I mentioned it.
- 57:17Can they run inside against the the Packers last week?
- 57:20And they did. Can they get the call?
- 57:22If they can do that and get out to an early league because the
- 57:24Bears have been a slow starting team, they could definitely win
- 57:26this game. I'm leaning more towards the
- 57:28Rams right now with the experience and talent.
- 57:29But the Bears, I agree with you, Errol.
- 57:31If they win this game, I think they'd probably go to the Super
- 57:33Bowl too. Well, and let's let's shout out
- 57:35Sean in in the messages on on YouTube.
- 57:39He's got Bears, Patriots, Super Bowl.
- 57:42That is Kevin and Kevin also said Bell Seahawks so.
- 57:45I'll say that is a very possible aspect if if things all come to
- 57:51fruition like we talk about. I had Rams and Bells at the
- 57:55start of the playoffs. Well, it's going to be tough
- 57:58though, because the Rams are going to have to go against
- 58:01this. I think Kayla Williams is the
- 58:02most talented quarterback in the NFL right now.
- 58:05The throws he made last week were absurd.
- 58:08It was like he was Kobe Bryant doing fadeaways, throwing at 30
- 58:11yards on on the dime layering throws.
- 58:14Roma Dunes got broke his foot or something like 6 weeks ago and
- 58:17he's and he missed five straight games, came back.
- 58:19He isn't the same guy. He caught that long bomb from
- 58:21him on one of those crazy scrambles in the game, but he's
- 58:24not healthy. DJ Moore is a gamer.
- 58:28That dude is going to show up in the playoffs.
- 58:29He had a touchdown last week. He's a tough dude, tough as
- 58:32nails. He's one of my favorite players
- 58:34in the NFL that's really unheralded.
- 58:36I always take him every year in fantasy and he always has a
- 58:38couple of 20 point weeks for you because he's just that kind of
- 58:41dude. I I really love their offensive
- 58:44line. The Bears went out this
- 58:45offseason when they hired Ben Johnson and stacked that
- 58:48offensive line. You build through the line.
- 58:51Ben Johnson's no fool if you can create confidence from your
- 58:54quarterback, which he did this year, because Caleb did not play
- 58:58with any confidence last year, for good reason with Matt
- 59:01Heberfluse. But I'll tell you, this is one
- 59:05of the most confident guys I've ever seen making throws that
- 59:07nobody should be making. And you can beat great defense
- 59:10and great scheme with superior talent.
- 59:13And Caleb is the guy that I would be most afraid of if I was
- 59:16Sean McVay in this entire playoffs.
- 59:18And I don't know if he's going to be able to stop him,
- 59:21especially if they don't get pressure, because that line's
- 59:23really good. Speaking of a great game, Monday
- 59:28night's National Championship game will feature Carson Beck
- 59:34and the number 10 seed Miami Hurricanes facing off against
- 59:38Heisman Trophy winner Fernando Mendoza and the undefeated
- 59:43number one seed Indiana Hoosiers.
- 59:46Miami gets a boost as the game is being played on their home
- 59:51field at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, but the Hoosier fans will
- 59:55be traveling in large numbers as they did for the last two games.
- 1:00:01Miami's pass rush, led by Bain and Messidor, has 13 sacks in
- 1:00:07the College Football Playoff, facing an Indiana offensive line
- 1:00:12that has allowed just 4 sacks in their two CF.
- 1:00:16B Playoff Games Miami running back Mark Fletcher has rushed
- 1:00:22for 395 rushing yards in the three College Football Playoff
- 1:00:29games, while Indiana's run defense allowed only 32 yards
- 1:00:34against Alabama and 93 yards against Oregon.
- 1:00:39Fernando Mendoza has 369 passing yards and eight touchdowns in
- 1:00:44the two CFB games, while Carson Beck also has 509 passing yards
- 1:00:53and four touchdowns in their three CFP games.
- 1:00:58In the AP poll era, Indiana is currently the second best team
- 1:01:03all time with a + 44175 point differential, only behind Jameis
- 1:01:11Winston's two 2013 Florida State God squad.
- 1:01:16I'm sorry I had to do that because I'm a Florida State fan
- 1:01:19who were a + 553. Indiana is an 8.5 point favorite
- 1:01:26after the line opened at 7.5. This game's going to be fun,
- 1:01:31ladies and gentlemen, and it's all going to be if Miami can get
- 1:01:35an early lead. If we've watched the Indiana
- 1:01:40Hoosiers play all season long, they get this early lead and
- 1:01:44then they drop the hammer on these teams.
- 1:01:47This is one of the elite offensive lines in the nation.
- 1:01:50They have dominated against great defenses all season long.
- 1:01:54Look what they did to Oregon last week.
- 1:01:56That offensive line protected Mendoza.
- 1:01:58He only got hit one time, one sack.
- 1:02:03They had one sack the whole game.
- 1:02:05This is an Oregon Ducks defense that is is is as elite as any
- 1:02:10team in the nation. They were top ten in the nation.
- 1:02:13Almost every single defensive statistic.
- 1:02:17Miami has talent. Bain and Mesador, these guys are
- 1:02:20great. These guys going to be first
- 1:02:22round talents. They're sensational, but are
- 1:02:25they going to be able to put pressure on Mendoza in this game
- 1:02:29where it's going to throw him off his spots?
- 1:02:31Nobody's been able to do that all season long.
- 1:02:35That's why they're undefeated. That's why nobody's beating
- 1:02:37them. Miami is going into a game where
- 1:02:41they're underdogs, but they've been underdogs going into the
- 1:02:44playoffs. Think about it, what they have
- 1:02:47done in the playoffs. Look what they did against the
- 1:02:49Ohio State Buckeyes. We would have thought that this
- 1:02:52would have been Indiana and the Buckeyes in the national
- 1:02:55championship, not Miami and Indiana.
- 1:02:59And everybody thinks this is going to be an absolute debacle,
- 1:03:02that Miami is going to get pulverized by the Hoosiers.
- 1:03:06I don't know if that's going to happen.
- 1:03:08Do you think so too? And, and I've I've talked about
- 1:03:11this too. Do you think the pedigree that
- 1:03:15Carson Beck has has surrounded himself with being at Georgia
- 1:03:20and seeing them win, Do you think that is going to play a
- 1:03:24part in it? Because Mendoza, he he's
- 1:03:27obviously the Heisman winner, great talent.
- 1:03:30We understand that, but he's never won.
- 1:03:34Carson Beck's been around a winning.
- 1:03:37And this is where Signetti comes in and as a coach and what he
- 1:03:42is. But when you got to do it on the
- 1:03:44field, and that's what I've always said.
- 1:03:46I think it's it's going to be the running games.
- 1:03:49And we've been saying this over and over and over again.
- 1:03:51Fletcher junior has been sensational, Hemby's been
- 1:03:54sensational. Both teams have great powerful
- 1:03:56running games and we've seen how they can dominate the line of
- 1:04:00scrimmage when they can run the ball.
- 1:04:01I will tell you this, whatever defensive line shows up early in
- 1:04:05this game and puts pressure on the opposite sides, quarterback,
- 1:04:10I think the advantage is going to go to that team.
- 1:04:12Miami, even though they don't and again, Indiana doesn't have
- 1:04:16first one of what do they call it, one star, whatever, five
- 1:04:20star recruits they don't have 5 star recruits they have, they
- 1:04:23have guys that are not even star recruits.
- 1:04:26These guys they got from James Madison, they got these guys
- 1:04:30from the the portal. A lot of these guys weren't even
- 1:04:32star recruits, and they've played sensational under
- 1:04:35Signetti's style. And and again, it's styles make
- 1:04:39team, styles make opponents, as we all know.
- 1:04:42And Miami might be Indiana's kryptonite.
- 1:04:45We won't know until the beginning of the game.
- 1:04:47We see what Bain can do in the game.
- 1:04:49We see what Mesador could do. These two guys are dynamic.
- 1:04:53And if I were the New York Jets, this is what I would do.
- 1:04:56I would draft Bain and I would draft Mazidor.
- 1:04:59That's what I would do. That's what I would do.
- 1:05:02Ladies and gentlemen, I want to solidify my defensive line.
- 1:05:07Think about it, who's the last team to do that?
- 1:05:09Speedy. The last team on the same duo?
- 1:05:12It's solidified. I'll tell you right now, it's
- 1:05:13from. I'll give you a hint.
- 1:05:15It's from my Florida State Seminoles.
- 1:05:17The Rams, Yeah. That's right, the Rams.
- 1:05:19The Rams were the team to do that and they've done.
- 1:05:22Look at their defense. Look how it changed their
- 1:05:24fortunes. I'm going to tell you this right
- 1:05:27now, Mesador and Bain are much better than the dynamic door
- 1:05:30that they have over there with the Rams.
- 1:05:33But I think that if you look at the potential that you have with
- 1:05:37these two players, these guys can cause havoc in the middle,
- 1:05:40they can cause havoc on the corners.
- 1:05:42They can do everything. I don't think any organ doesn't
- 1:05:45have these kind of players that we have seen in this tournament.
- 1:05:49Tournament, like Miami, has put pressure on every single team
- 1:05:53they played. Again.
- 1:05:53Look what they did against the Buckeyes.
- 1:05:55I think, I think when you say that and you say it comes down
- 1:05:58the running game, but you have those guys that can spread the
- 1:06:00field, right? So they it gives it gives
- 1:06:04options to where now if if you say the discerning factor is the
- 1:06:09running game, well, so you got to worry about those guys,
- 1:06:11right? So you're going to spread the
- 1:06:13field and then now that opens it up to do what those guys are
- 1:06:18great at. And I, I think it's you, you are
- 1:06:23100% right because that is the discerning factor.
- 1:06:27But is he going to get them the ball is, is he going to succumb
- 1:06:32to the pressure? Are they going to get to them?
- 1:06:35And now you said defensive line in that how much pressure is
- 1:06:40there are they going to get? Yeah, and there's a reason
- 1:06:43Jabba, I think Malachi Tony might be the biggest X Factor
- 1:06:46for Miami in this game because they've used him as a runner
- 1:06:49sometimes as well. So if they if they're all keep
- 1:06:51game planning for. Fletcher.
- 1:06:53Yes, if they're all game planning for Fletcher inside it,
- 1:06:57like Indiana's done with the Oregon and Alabama running backs
- 1:06:59that are duo, then I look at, I look at like him reversing,
- 1:07:04spacing them out, the Indiana defense, because Errol's right,
- 1:07:07Miami has to get to an early lead.
- 1:07:08Indiana when they've gotten a little exposed in November, a
- 1:07:11little bit when they weren't, weren't playing great.
- 1:07:13A lot of those teams got out to early leads.
- 1:07:15You saw Michigan do it. Well, actually Michigan was a
- 1:07:16little early in the season. Michigan got out to an early
- 1:07:19lead. Indiana came back later, but
- 1:07:20they it was a back and forth game.
- 1:07:21Penn State when they played them close that one game did that
- 1:07:24same kind of thing. And even in the Big 10
- 1:07:26championship game, Ohio State was pretty much controlling the
- 1:07:29game in the beginning until Indiana got it going in the
- 1:07:31third quarter. And then Indiana really just
- 1:07:33dominated after that. Miami has to be able to run the
- 1:07:36ball in many different ways and not just rely on just.
- 1:07:38Remember what Miami did against the Ohio State Buckeyes
- 1:07:42offensive line. This is an elite offensive line.
- 1:07:45The Indiana Hoosiers have an elite offensive line.
- 1:07:49When you watch what Messador and Bain did to that offensive line,
- 1:07:54they terminated them early in the game.
- 1:07:57They put so much pressure on the Ohio State Buckeyes by the
- 1:08:00second-half of the game. I know that the the coaching
- 1:08:04staff over there in Ohio, Ohio State, and I'll tell you this, I
- 1:08:07talked to Wes about this and we had this conversation.
- 1:08:09He's a Buckeyes fan and he said Ryan Day got outclassed and out
- 1:08:14coached by a guy that obviously understands defense.
- 1:08:19And and again, I don't know if Ohio State expected to see Bain
- 1:08:24and Mesador dominate the line of scrimmage the way they did.
- 1:08:27I'm going to tell you this right now.
- 1:08:28If they don't have an answer for these two guys, this is going to
- 1:08:31be a long, long day for Fernando Mendoza because Fernando
- 1:08:36Mendoza, he's had his way really in the last two weeks.
- 1:08:40Oh, his way. He didn't really, you have to do
- 1:08:42much. Everybody looks at his numbers.
- 1:08:43His numbers didn't pop out at you.
- 1:08:45Why? Because he has five touchdowns
- 1:08:47and 107, seventy, 177 yards. They're not 350 yards.
- 1:08:52They're not 400 yards. He didn't do it.
- 1:08:54You know Joe Burrow did when when he went into the national
- 1:08:57championship game. I mean it all season long, he
- 1:09:00did things that he did enough to help his team win.
- 1:09:04It wasn't because of Mendoza on why they won.
- 1:09:07I'm sorry, fans, I'm just telling you the truth.
- 1:09:09It was because of the running game.
- 1:09:11It was because of the offensive line in the dominance, dominance
- 1:09:14and, and, and what they did to organs offense, completely
- 1:09:18throwing Dante Moore off his spots.
- 1:09:21That's the facts. That's the only reason why I
- 1:09:24believe the Indiana, Indiana Hoosiers won that game and
- 1:09:27dominated the way they did. They they dominated.
- 1:09:29What was it, 56 to 22 or whatever the hell it was?
- 1:09:32It was a score golly for college.
- 1:09:33It was a ridiculous number, but the game was over before it even
- 1:09:37started. Quickly before our guest is in,
- 1:09:39I just want to mention the Indiana, the Indiana offensive
- 1:09:42line too. Against that Miami interior rush
- 1:09:45is going to be a big key too because a lot of Indiana success
- 1:09:47on the ground game has come inside and Bain and Messidor are
- 1:09:50going to get all the attention. But Miami's interior rush has
- 1:09:52done very well. And then on the offensive line
- 1:09:54for Miami, Java, you were talking about it and Errol, you
- 1:09:57were talking about like the recruiting advantage for Miami
- 1:09:58because Indiana's relying on a lot of five star, three star
- 1:10:01guys. Miami's the top five in terms of
- 1:10:03getting five star guys. So their offensive lines don't
- 1:10:05slouch either. But again, they're going to have
- 1:10:07to be a little more tricky, and Cristobal's good.
- 1:10:09Done it so far. Signetti forgot.
- 1:10:10It you know, I'm reading what Sean's saying in the group
- 1:10:13message and he says Indiana will win and and hurt. the Hurricanes
- 1:10:17have been inconsistent. Yeah, their offense has been
- 1:10:19inconsistent. But guess what, guys?
- 1:10:22As inconsistent as Miami's offense has been in this
- 1:10:25tournament, guess who's in the national championship?
- 1:10:29And as a 10 seed, so the inconsistency and and love love
- 1:10:34the feedback, obviously, but you got there.
- 1:10:38They're A1 seat. Indiana was expected maybe, but
- 1:10:42as A10 seat, you're like, maybe, you know, it's a shot in the
- 1:10:46dark. It's the Florida Gulf Coast of
- 1:10:48March Madness. Every once in a while that
- 1:10:49happens, but they're there. Yep, and that's why I'm not
- 1:10:55going to count them out and and he's saying that they're
- 1:10:58Indiana's going to win. I wouldn't bet on that.
- 1:11:00And I'm going to tell you this right now as as you look at the
- 1:11:03points, it's eight, what is it, 8.58 and a half?
- 1:11:06It's 8 1/2. I bet you the game is going to
- 1:11:09be a lot closer than people think.
- 1:11:10This isn't the Oregon Ducks and the Indiana Hoosiers.
- 1:11:14The Indiana Hoosiers in Signetti had something to prove against
- 1:11:16the Ducks, especially what Dan Lanning was saying before the
- 1:11:19game. I you haven't heard the
- 1:11:21Hurricanes come out there. There's nothing on the
- 1:11:24chalkboard that tells me that they're going to have something
- 1:11:27set up and say, well, look what this guy said and look what that
- 1:11:29guy said. There's nothing.
- 1:11:31And I think the Hurricanes have been very quiet in the way
- 1:11:34they've planned and the way they play their game.
- 1:11:36And you could see the coach, he says, everybody says they were
- 1:11:39that, that the Miami, the Miami, Miami Hurricanes are back.
- 1:11:44Well, he says they're not back until they win.
- 1:11:47That's what the coach said. So I mean, when you hear the
- 1:11:50coach see that, it says a lot about the coaching staff and
- 1:11:52what the coach believes in his team.
- 1:11:54He says you got to win to be back.
- 1:11:57All right, ladies and gentlemen, my deuce of the day.
- 1:12:00The deuce of the day you log. Not a log.
- 1:12:04I don't have a log but you. Know.
- 1:12:13Ladies and gentlemen, my deuce of the day goes to Dante Moore.
- 1:12:19Yeah, ladies and gentlemen, I know a lot of Jet fans are upset
- 1:12:22and probably crying to the whatever they're crying or if
- 1:12:25they're going to the bank and they think they were going to
- 1:12:27buy themselves a fowl, well, there's nothing to buy or cry
- 1:12:30about. Dante Moore decided to go back
- 1:12:33to the Ducks for one reason. Money.
- 1:12:36NIL. He has a chance to make between
- 1:12:385:00 and $7,000,000 next year. Get a chance to learn under Dan
- 1:12:43Lanning one more year. He looked bad in his final game
- 1:12:47of the season against the Indiana, the Hoosiers.
- 1:12:49I think that if Oregon wins this game and they go to the national
- 1:12:53championship and maybe win, I think Dante Moore comes out of
- 1:12:56the draft. I, I think the fact that he got
- 1:12:59embarrassed on national television, I think that says a
- 1:13:02lot about who he is as a player and what he believes he could be
- 1:13:06after next year. I know a lot of people have said
- 1:13:09that he doesn't want to be a Jet and that's why he didn't want to
- 1:13:11come out of the draft. Nothing has been said in any of
- 1:13:14the stuff that I have read that just because The Jets were
- 1:13:18drafting two, that was the reason why he decided to go
- 1:13:21back. I I understand The Jets are not
- 1:13:23a good organization. No organization drafting at the
- 1:13:26top of the draft are going to be good, including the New York
- 1:13:30Jets. So if that's why Dante Moore
- 1:13:32decided to go back to college, shame on him.
- 1:13:34But here's the here's the great thing about this.
- 1:13:38I do believe as a Jet fan and as a Jet guy, that this is a good
- 1:13:42story. Why?
- 1:13:43Because The Jets don't have to dig deep on really watching
- 1:13:48Dante Moore film or Lookout, maybe Ty Simpson.
- 1:13:52You already know that The Jets are not drafting a quarterback
- 1:13:55in the first round this year. That tells me that The Jets can
- 1:13:59trade down from the number two pick, move down a couple of
- 1:14:02spots, get another first round draft pick, still get the player
- 1:14:05they want and set up for next year.
- 1:14:08Not one, not 2, but three first round draft picks to get the
- 1:14:13quarterback that they feel is the the proper quarterback of
- 1:14:17their future. So for all the fans out there,
- 1:14:20all the Dante Moore lovers, he could go back to Oregon.
- 1:14:24We don't need them maybe till next year, but my deuce of the
- 1:14:27day goes to Dante Moore going back to Oregon.
- 1:14:32There you go. All right, when we come back,
- 1:14:34ladies and gentlemen, I'm a little tired.
- 1:14:36But guess what? I've got a lot of heat to lay
- 1:14:40the smack if on the New York Mets, as the Mets reached all
- 1:14:46offseason and hopefully they reached the Kyle Tucker because
- 1:14:50there's a story coming out that Kyle Tucker was offered, I don't
- 1:14:53know, a little bit of money by the New York Mets.
- 1:14:55We'll see if they seal the deal with him.
- 1:14:57Ladies and gentlemen, when we come back, we will be talking a
- 1:14:59Newsday Mets beat writer for the first time on Job On the Mouth
- 1:15:05Laura Albanese. But first, our sports minute
- 1:15:08with the one and only fish. This is the Jabba and the Mouth
- 1:15:15Sports minute. What's up everybody?
- 1:15:18Aaron Fishman here with your sportsman.
- 1:15:20It got a couple of stories for you before we get into the
- 1:15:22scores this evening. In frightening news this week,
- 1:15:25former New York Giants cornerback Sam Beale has been
- 1:15:28reported missing for over half of a year.
- 1:15:31Apparently Beale, who was a supplemental pick of the Giants
- 1:15:33back in 2019 and played for a franchise for three seasons but
- 1:15:37was often heard, didn't really suit up that much.
- 1:15:39He he started Western Michigan in college and was reported
- 1:15:42missing back in July by his sister, Essence Zane after he
- 1:15:46went to Virginia Beach and never came back.
- 1:15:49Beal's car with clothes and sand on the floor was found by the
- 1:15:52beach, but Beal has not been found and the family says they
- 1:15:56have exhausted all leads. Authorities ask anyone with
- 1:16:00information to contact Kenwood Police at 616-698-6580 or
- 1:16:06Virginia Beach Police at 757385 4141.
- 1:16:11Hopefully, Beale, who is only 29 years old, will be found in one
- 1:16:14piece in the near future. And despite both center Rudy
- 1:16:18Gobert and star guard Anthony Edwards sitting out the road
- 1:16:22game against the Bucks, Minnesota absolutely blew the
- 1:16:26doors off of the Doc. Rivers LED Team 139 to one O 6,
- 1:16:30leading by as much as 41 points on the road without their top
- 1:16:34guys. As the team struggled to the
- 1:16:36finish Yannis intended, Kupo crashed hard to the floor on a
- 1:16:39play at the rim as the home crowd booed the team throughout
- 1:16:42much of the game. Yannis, after selling out and
- 1:16:44landing hard, sat up and gave his patented thumbs down taunt
- 1:16:48to the crowd. Except this time, it was aimed
- 1:16:51at his home fans, and after the game, Giannis told reporters.
- 1:16:55Whenever I get booed, I Boo back.
- 1:16:57It doesn't matter. I play basketball for my
- 1:16:59teammates. I play basketball for myself and
- 1:17:01my family. When people don't believe in me,
- 1:17:04I don't tend to be with them. I tend to do what I what I am
- 1:17:07here to do, what I'm good at. It won't change home or away.
- 1:17:10But yeah, I've never been a part of something like that before.
- 1:17:13And I don't think it's fair. I don't.
- 1:17:14But everyone has their opinion to do what they want to do.
- 1:17:17I'm not going to tell them what to do or how they should act
- 1:17:19when we don't play hard or when we lose games or when we're
- 1:17:22where we're not supposed to be. I don't think anybody has the
- 1:17:24right to tell me how I should act on a basketball court after
- 1:17:27I have been here 13 years and I'm basically the all time
- 1:17:30leader in everything. Well, that doesn't sound like a
- 1:17:33guy who's staying in Milwaukee. The honest moving at the
- 1:17:36deadline would be the biggest move in recent memory outside of
- 1:17:39the time Nicole Harrison effed around and found out last year
- 1:17:42when he traded Luca for Mr. Glass Anthony Davis and lost his
- 1:17:44job. The honest movie would be less
- 1:17:46unexpected, especially after this latest incident.

- 1:20:05Well, now we have a very special guest we are talking to Newsday
- 1:20:10Mets beat writer Laura. Albanese, Laura, What's up?
- 1:20:14Not much. How are you guys doing?
- 1:20:15We are good. I don't know about you.
- 1:20:18I mean, there's a lot to get into with the New York Mets.
- 1:20:20We, you know, it's crazy. We had Bobby Valentine on last
- 1:20:24week and we asked him what he thought about the ownership and
- 1:20:28Steve Cohen. And, and I asked him, I was
- 1:20:30honest with him. I said, do you think Steve Cohen
- 1:20:33has done the right job so far over the last, I would say the
- 1:20:39last year or so. And he said, well, I love, I
- 1:20:42love Steve Cohen. I love what him and his wife
- 1:20:44does. And, and I I'm not going to
- 1:20:46count them out. I'm not going to count or attack
- 1:20:48anything they've done. They've done a lot of great
- 1:20:50things for the New York Mets. So my question to you is, you
- 1:20:54saw Peter Lonzo and Edwin Diaz go to separate teams, One guy
- 1:21:00that never got a contract offer and the other guy went to a team
- 1:21:05that you can't stand as a Met fan, you can't stand the LA
- 1:21:08Dodgers. And you look at it, you look at
- 1:21:11their offseason. Do you think this is a winning
- 1:21:13offseason so far in the position that they are in?
- 1:21:18Well, no. I mean, the offseason is still
- 1:21:20very, very in its early stages, so.
- 1:21:22But right now, absolutely not. If you're a Mets fan, you're
- 1:21:24ripping out your hair. You're like, OK, there goes Pete
- 1:21:26Alonzo, there goes Brandon Nimmo, even Jeff McNeil.
- 1:21:28There was like some consternation.
- 1:21:30And then obviously, you lose Edwin Diaz, which is probably
- 1:21:33kind of the biggest smack in the face because the Mets very, very
- 1:21:36much wanted to have Edwin Diaz back.
- 1:21:39But what does it say that your closer goes to the Dodgers for
- 1:21:43$5,000,000 more and then doesn't even give you a chance to
- 1:21:46counter offer? It indicates that he kind of
- 1:21:48just didn't want to be there anymore.
- 1:21:50I mean, like $5 million at that point.
- 1:21:52You want to go, you have to uproot your entire family, go
- 1:21:55across country. He wants it to be a Dodger.
- 1:21:57So now, you know, it's kind of getting a little bit late early.
- 1:22:01It feels like if they don't nail this Kyle Tucker acquisition,
- 1:22:05which we're hearing, you know, Tucker might make a decision as
- 1:22:08soon as tomorrow. You're kind of scrambling.
- 1:22:12Look at the roster. They have two outfielders.
- 1:22:15The last time I checked, you needed three, so at least three.
- 1:22:18So you got that going for you. Their rotation, Do they have the
- 1:22:22depth? Yeah, but there's a lot of
- 1:22:23question marks there. And then they have, you know,
- 1:22:25approximately like 900 infielders.
- 1:22:27So I mean, like, the roster construction is a little bit
- 1:22:30confounding right now. Yeah.
- 1:22:31I was going to mention that with the pitching because I think the
- 1:22:33Mets since David Stern's taken over and even before that too
- 1:22:36with with Eppler, it seems like they never either trade or sign
- 1:22:39for pitchers in their prime. They went after Max Scherzer and
- 1:22:42Justin Verlander, who were in their 40s when the Mets signed
- 1:22:44them, and it seems like they're always in rumors for these other
- 1:22:46pitchers, Freddie Peralta being the most recent one.
- 1:22:49But now it seems like the Yankees are the favorite.
- 1:22:50So are you surprised that the Mets have not taken the approach
- 1:22:53to get more starting pitching to help out the kids like McLean
- 1:22:55and not put a lot of pressure on them?
- 1:22:57Not necessarily. I think we've seen from David
- 1:22:59Cern's track record that he does not like really offering these
- 1:23:02big long term contracts to pitchers because pitchers tend
- 1:23:05to get hurt. And so you see Ranger Suarez
- 1:23:07going for five years, you're going to look and you're going
- 1:23:09to say, OK for Amber Valdez is probably going to get something
- 1:23:11really similar. Do you want to give forever
- 1:23:13Valdez five years where he's a very good pitcher, but he's not
- 1:23:16really the ace that they're necessarily looking for Their
- 1:23:20their philosophy has been pretty consistent in that they want to
- 1:23:23be able to develop internally. They they struck gold with Nolan
- 1:23:26McClain. If you can stay healthy and you
- 1:23:28know he's going to the world Baseball classic.
- 1:23:29So go ahead and hold your breath, even though it's really
- 1:23:32awesome. And then I think it's cool.
- 1:23:34And then after that, he. How much do you give for Freddie
- 1:23:39Peralta? Because a lot of people want
- 1:23:41Freddie Peralta. And the asking price is going to
- 1:23:43be high. I don't even think you even look
- 1:23:45at school at this point. They're going to want your
- 1:23:47entire farm system if you're going to get a guy at that
- 1:23:49caliber. So they're in a little bit of a
- 1:23:51difficult position. Yeah, but they're also counting
- 1:23:55whether for good or for bad on those internal options.
- 1:23:58The idea that Shawn Manaya is going to have a real spring
- 1:24:00training, Christian Scott coming back from Tommy John surgery,
- 1:24:04Tom and others development. There is a lot, a lot of what
- 1:24:08ifs. And you know, on the one hand,
- 1:24:10that can be exciting if if you're a gambling man, on the
- 1:24:14other hand, you saw what happened in the second-half of
- 1:24:16the season when no one can pitch into the 5th or 6th inning.
- 1:24:18Don't. Worry Steve Cohen's building a
- 1:24:19casino. It might be perfect for that,
- 1:24:21yeah. Oh, I've heard, yeah.
- 1:24:25So Laura, you said, you said to you kind of touched on it with
- 1:24:28like Stearns and and his track record of not doing like long
- 1:24:31term contracts. What you you know better than we
- 1:24:35do. What from the front office side
- 1:24:39is and I got a little bit of David Stearns playing from the
- 1:24:44front office side. What leverage does he have or
- 1:24:48does he the final decision to make if he makes those contracts
- 1:24:52to get it? A guy like Freddie knowing the
- 1:24:55asking price and whatever it is. I think that's a really
- 1:24:58interesting question because I think that there has been a
- 1:25:00shift. I do think that maybe last
- 1:25:03offseason Steve Cohen had a more hands on approach and right now
- 1:25:06he's kind of, you're kind of seeing him give Stearns the keys
- 1:25:09to the Kingdom a little bit more.
- 1:25:11It's like, all right, we're going to sink or we're going to
- 1:25:13swim. And you're going to like, prove
- 1:25:15to me what you can do to construct this team.
- 1:25:18And I mean, like, you don't become a billionaire because
- 1:25:21you're bad at business. And you don't become a
- 1:25:22billionaire by hiring guys that you don't trust.
- 1:25:24You can't do everything yourself.
- 1:25:26So he hired Stearns for a very specific reason.
- 1:25:29He courted Stearns. He waited a long time, and now
- 1:25:32he's saying, OK, let's do your vision your way because
- 1:25:36obviously last season, for as many of you know, as many
- 1:25:39superstars as that team had, was a complete and utter disaster.
- 1:25:43And sometimes that could happen when there are too many cooks in
- 1:25:44the kitchen. So it really does feel like this
- 1:25:46offseason is being very much guided by David Stearns, his
- 1:25:50philosophy. We are talking to Newsday Mets
- 1:25:53beat writer Laura Albanese. You know, you mentioned David
- 1:25:56Stearns. Now my question here is, here it
- 1:25:59is for you is if David Stearns has another bad year, he doesn't
- 1:26:05land Kyle Tucker. And even if he does land Kyle
- 1:26:07Tucker and he falls short again for the playoffs, is his job in
- 1:26:11jeopardy? I don't necessarily think so.
- 1:26:13I think he's got probably one more year after that.
- 1:26:15I think there was too much work put into this.
- 1:26:18I think if anyone is going to kind of like bear the brunt of
- 1:26:21this, it's going to be Carlos Mendoza.
- 1:26:23Usually when you know, your entire coaching staff gets
- 1:26:26fired, it's the Canary in the coal mine where you're you're
- 1:26:30probably going to be next on the chopping block.
- 1:26:32And then maybe after that, if if there continues to be a
- 1:26:35situation where Stearns is not producing, then maybe Steve
- 1:26:39Cohen decides to move on. I mean, it hasn't been a
- 1:26:43complete disaster. 2024 was a very good season.
- 1:26:46And a lot of that had to do with Cerns ability to kind of like
- 1:26:49find those diamonds in the rough and be like, OK, let's let's put
- 1:26:52together, let's put together all these pieces and have it work.
- 1:26:552025 they you could say, well, you know, there were a bunch of
- 1:26:58nagging injuries. There were there were a lot of
- 1:27:01things that kind of worked against them. 2026 is going to
- 1:27:05be pivotal for him. I don't think it's going to cost
- 1:27:07him his job, but I do think we're going, it's going to be
- 1:27:11kind of like a really good litmus test of what he can do
- 1:27:15because David Stearns, he's a very patient person.
- 1:27:19Like, he's not the type of guy who's just gonna throw money
- 1:27:21away just to throw money away just because he has the richest
- 1:27:24owner in baseball backing him. Well, but there is kind of has
- 1:27:28to be that balance because you can be patient.
- 1:27:30You can be patient, but suddenly you're so patient, you're backed
- 1:27:33into a corner because you know, there aren't that many marquee
- 1:27:37free agents left and you still need to fill out this roster.
- 1:27:40We're probably going to see him a lot more active kind of in the
- 1:27:44trade market, I would assume, because they do have that
- 1:27:47capital they have now. They've built one of the best
- 1:27:49farm systems in baseball. And that is one of David Stern's
- 1:27:52things like that. That is what he was
- 1:27:54concentrating on. So do that.
- 1:27:56And he he he is confident in those like those young kids.
- 1:28:00Like he keeps bringing up Carson Bench as a real possibility to
- 1:28:03be a starting center fielder. McClain show what he can do.
- 1:28:07Obviously Jonah Tong is still really green, but there's
- 1:28:10obviously a lot of interest there.
- 1:28:12His name keeps showing up in like in trade conversations.
- 1:28:16So there are points of optimism and I do think that as these
- 1:28:22young players develop, that's one of the reasons why I feel
- 1:28:24like he'll be safe this year. You really have to see their
- 1:28:27full potential, but not to see what they can do well.
- 1:28:29Laura, you don't know if these guys are going to develop.
- 1:28:31Me and Jabba talk about this all the time.
- 1:28:33These are guys that are getting called up.
- 1:28:34We don't know if they're going to develop into stars.
- 1:28:36We don't know if they're going to be subpar players at best or
- 1:28:40bench players. They might be sent down.
- 1:28:41Look at look at Anthony Volpe. He had one Goodyear and then all
- 1:28:45of a sudden Yankee fans want to throw him to the dust.
- 1:28:47They don't want anything to do with him anymore because he had
- 1:28:49a bad season. And and again, I agree with you.
- 1:28:52I think David Stearns is safe right now.
- 1:28:54But if he has another season where they're they were playing
- 1:28:57great baseball in the first half and then completely fall off and
- 1:29:00have one of the biggest drop offs we've ever seen and a Major
- 1:29:04League team ever have and do it again the way.
- 1:29:06The biggest in history. Yeah, I mean, and who was the
- 1:29:09other team that did it? It was another Met team.
- 1:29:12So it was they were two Met teams that done a trend.
- 1:29:15It's a trend for the Mets. And and I look at David Stearns.
- 1:29:18I I, I honestly believe that if this happens again, as good as
- 1:29:22he had in his rookie season and they went all the way as far as
- 1:29:25they did. I think that was a a fast-paced
- 1:29:28very lucky how everything fell together for the New York Mets.
- 1:29:31I don't know if he's going to be so lucky with the New York Met
- 1:29:35fans. The fans were killing him at the
- 1:29:37end of the season. And as good as Juan Soda he was,
- 1:29:40and he was a great acquisition, when the going got tough, he was
- 1:29:43the only one that hit. Everybody else couldn't hit.
- 1:29:46So I mean, that's the problem right now with the New York
- 1:29:49Mets. And yay.
- 1:29:50And remember, David Stearns got away.
- 1:29:52He decided to move on for Brandon Nimmo, another fan
- 1:29:55favorite by the New York Mets fans.
- 1:29:57And Pete Alonzo was one of the biggest in history for the New
- 1:30:00York Mets. Fans a family favorite too,
- 1:30:02because I played with his brother at Nebraska.
- 1:30:04So I I followed Nimmo through Wyoming through all the other
- 1:30:09stuff. And that's I love that you
- 1:30:11touched on that too. Do you think there's a part of
- 1:30:15what the Mets are like the nucleus of what they created and
- 1:30:19now they're kind of moving in a different direction?
- 1:30:23Do you think? Was that like not scripted?
- 1:30:27But what, why are you moving away from what you built and
- 1:30:31these integral pieces of what you've had?
- 1:30:35And obviously you, you brought in Frankie, you brought in Juan,
- 1:30:39but like the centerpieces of what you had in Pete and Nimmo
- 1:30:45and why, why did they feel like they needed to move on from
- 1:30:48that? It was such a huge gamble, too.
- 1:30:52Like just to start off, like the idea that you blow up your core
- 1:30:55but you don't necessarily have a foolproof kind of like
- 1:30:58replacement already kind of in the wings was wild to me.
- 1:31:02I mean, this is really David Stern's gambling on himself.
- 1:31:04But he really projected that he was going to do that even like,
- 1:31:07OK, so right after they get eliminated, we're over in Miami
- 1:31:10and they're like, OK, get on the plane.
- 1:31:13David Stern's is doing a post mortem the day after and like,
- 1:31:15it's literally been hours since you've been eliminated.
- 1:31:18And he was already projecting, like something needs to change.
- 1:31:22It needs to be a big shake up. So a lot has been talked about,
- 1:31:26you know, like the culture in the clubhouse, the culture in
- 1:31:29the clubhouse, just being around there every day.
- 1:31:31Like, I don't know, I'm, I'm, you know, like it's very
- 1:31:33different from what people project to the media than what's
- 1:31:35going on behind closed doors. We're only in there for 50
- 1:31:38minutes a day and then post game or whatever else.
- 1:31:41But yeah, there, there were guys who didn't necessarily talk to
- 1:31:44other guys. And that's fine.
- 1:31:45Not everyone has to be best friends, that's cool.
- 1:31:49But when you start losing, suddenly those tensions can get
- 1:31:51a little bit thornier and I think you saw that a little bit
- 1:31:54towards the second-half of the season and.
- 1:31:57You on the beat, you see it every day.
- 1:31:59And I I understand that to an extent because I'm still friends
- 1:32:04with some of the beat writers that covered me, but you see it
- 1:32:09from a different perspective. Did did you, do you think that
- 1:32:12that was the move that needed to be made?
- 1:32:16Because I know the Nimmo family, I know exactly what they are and
- 1:32:19they are one of two they're delightful of.
- 1:32:24The Earth. They're delightful people.
- 1:32:25They're it's unbelievable. Like you guys are way too nice.
- 1:32:28You guys aren't real like this. You guys aren't real.
- 1:32:30It's like his older brother Bryce.
- 1:32:33And I'm just like, you guys aren't real.
- 1:32:36And I'm like, you need that for the culture of the clubhouse.
- 1:32:40Did they think they, like you said, do you like the shake up?
- 1:32:43Like you need somebody to come in as Ariel and I have argued
- 1:32:47about this, you need a Jazz Chisholm, you need a guy with
- 1:32:50with that kind of bounce, that swag, that grip, like all that
- 1:32:55thing. Do you think that was kind of
- 1:32:56part of kind of what they doing with the second-half fall off?
- 1:33:01A little bit, possibly because it seemed like they could, just
- 1:33:04couldn't get out of their own heads.
- 1:33:06I mean, the clubhouse was tense, not in the negative way, but
- 1:33:10just like literally like, Oh no, guys, something's going down.
- 1:33:14But it was also like very professional, you know, the
- 1:33:17Brandon Nimmo thing. I think that was a full on
- 1:33:20business decision. His contract was not going to
- 1:33:22appreciate well. And we're seeing Sterns kind of
- 1:33:25like go in with a sort of like surgical precision that
- 1:33:29completely kind of throws sentimentality out.
- 1:33:33That is an interesting thing because like I've, I've said it
- 1:33:38once, I said a million times, baseball is a business, but
- 1:33:40businesses are full of people and personalities matter.
- 1:33:43Leadership matters. You know, being able to, to kind
- 1:33:47of bring guys together and bring them out of that rut.
- 1:33:50You know, that is actually a skill set.
- 1:33:53So getting rid of Nimmo, who is one of those guys, but who I
- 1:33:56feel like maybe probably was not as vocal toward the latter half
- 1:34:00of the season and, and, and kind of tossing him out.
- 1:34:04That's that's tough. And then you also have to kind
- 1:34:07of like fill in that vacuum and how are you going to do it?
- 1:34:11So, you know, like I, I do feel like sometimes the idea of
- 1:34:13chemistry is overblown. But like when you simply can't
- 1:34:17stop a losing streak because everyone is pressing and
- 1:34:20everyone is tense and nobody really wants to talk to each
- 1:34:22other anymore, Suddenly it does become a little bit of an issue.
- 1:34:26But like, but then you ask Stearns about it and we have
- 1:34:29he's like, well, you know, like, you can't predict chemistry.
- 1:34:33And to a certain extent, that's true because a lot of the same
- 1:34:36guys that maybe didn't have that same chemistry in 2025 had
- 1:34:40really good chemistry in 2024. Things are constantly shifting
- 1:34:43in the baseball landscape. We are talking to Newsday Mets
- 1:34:46beat writer Laura Albanese. Good speed I.
- 1:34:48Was going to ask being you covered the Yankees for a little
- 1:34:51bit before you joined the Mets, I think two years ago or
- 1:34:53whenever you did. The philosophy, the philosophy
- 1:34:56that we've seen the Mets do is take a lot of ex Yankees, which
- 1:34:59I guess Steve Cohen's trying to be the the little, the trying to
- 1:35:01rise into the Big Brother of New York or whatever.
- 1:35:03Love that whole thing that Mets fans love.
- 1:35:05But what is your thought process?
- 1:35:06A lot of those signings with Montage not working on somebody
- 1:35:09like Clay Holmes kind of up and down this year and then doing it
- 1:35:11again with some of the moves this year.
- 1:35:12I mean, I don't necessarily mind it.
- 1:35:13I just go with the best player available to you that you can
- 1:35:16get, even if they happen to play in the Bronx.
- 1:35:19And there is one thing to that credit, which is like, alright,
- 1:35:23you know when Cody Hollander came to the Yankees, everyone
- 1:35:25like he's not going to be able to hack it.
- 1:35:26He's not going to be able to hack it under the bright lights.
- 1:35:28And he did fine. So you look at people and there
- 1:35:33is something to be said about having a track record of being
- 1:35:36able to play in New York. Can it be overblown sometimes?
- 1:35:39Maybe. But it is it is kind of a
- 1:35:42different sort of landscape. When let's say, you know, you
- 1:35:45blow a lead in the 9th inning and you've got like 2 reporters
- 1:35:48talking to you and you're like, hey, whatever.
- 1:35:50And then you blow a lead in the 9th inning in the Yankees and
- 1:35:53suddenly you're surrounded by a zombie horde of all of us going
- 1:35:56why? Why did this happen?
- 1:35:58Like it's a completely different thing.
- 1:36:01And there is a psychology. There is a psychology to that.
- 1:36:03You know, like some players go in and the last thing that they
- 1:36:06want and like God's green earth is to be on the Backpage of the
- 1:36:09New York Post. So, Laura?
- 1:36:10That is, in some people's mind, no.
- 1:36:12Arrow, hold on. I'm going to touch on this
- 1:36:14because I'm the only one that can.
- 1:36:18We talked about this and you touched on it too, because you
- 1:36:22obviously see it and you see it from a different realm.
- 1:36:27It's the reason why I said this, as soon as Devin Williams
- 1:36:30started failing, right? He's not in Milwaukee anymore.
- 1:36:34Like you said, there's not two or three reporters.
- 1:36:37You have everybody and you have to answer to that.
- 1:36:41And why, like, I think in certain ways, when you get to
- 1:36:46the bright lights or whatever you want to say is when you now
- 1:36:51have to have 20 to 30 people sitting at your locker because
- 1:36:57it's a different, it's a different bird.
- 1:36:59It's a different bird being here and why I agree with you 100%.
- 1:37:04You don't you don't mind that, that they come over and steal
- 1:37:08them and do whatever because now they have the aspect of like,
- 1:37:12OK, I know if I do great or if I fail, what I should expect.
- 1:37:18And I think that's a huge part. And I think why like picking
- 1:37:23guys and taking them over there. I, I really think it, it does
- 1:37:27help because now it's, it's such a different market and you guys
- 1:37:32give us such a different realm of what you guys do because
- 1:37:36you're with us every day like you guys are with us every day.
- 1:37:40Yeah. And it's actually why I kind of
- 1:37:42like the Devin Williams signing because you know, like Devin
- 1:37:45Williams, he had a strong second-half of the year.
- 1:37:48How difficult must it be to come to New York essentially suck?
- 1:37:53Let's like there's no like there's no way to around it.
- 1:37:57And then bring yourself back from that when you, when you're
- 1:38:01suddenly like in a completely different market and you're
- 1:38:03surrounded by people and you hit free agency and you can go
- 1:38:05wherever you want and you're like, I'm going to go back into
- 1:38:09the Thunderdome. I think that shows something.
- 1:38:11I think that shows something really important.
- 1:38:13I think that he'll do well because now he knows what it
- 1:38:16means. Sure, it wasn't because he
- 1:38:18wanted to go back to David Stearns.
- 1:38:21I I don't know, I mean, I do actually think he really likes
- 1:38:24New York. That doesn't.
- 1:38:25No, it didn't seem like it because when he came to the
- 1:38:27Yankees, as soon as he, he went to, he decided to sign with the
- 1:38:31Mets. He puts up on his Twitter
- 1:38:33picture of him or the Mets, you know, hat and everything like
- 1:38:37that. He didn't do that when he was a
- 1:38:38Yankee And and that to me, I, I don't think he really wanted to
- 1:38:41be with the. Yankees.
- 1:38:42Laura, Laura, Laura presented that in the same in and she did
- 1:38:46it very delicate because now he knows now and he knows what that
- 1:38:51means to be in a New York market.
- 1:38:53So, So what does that mean? What that means to fans?
- 1:38:56Why am I still relevant? I've been retired for eight
- 1:38:59years. Why am I still relevant?
- 1:39:01And I can go back and do signings and get paid stupid
- 1:39:03money to do dumb shit. But that has nothing to do with
- 1:39:07a guy. Like, but I embraced it.
- 1:39:09I embraced it exactly what you said that he posted that now he
- 1:39:14understands what being in this huge market does.
- 1:39:18Oh, OK, so he was with the Yankees for a year and he
- 1:39:24understood what it was to be in New York.
- 1:39:27He failed to be with the Yankees.
- 1:39:28So, hey, you know what? I'm going to stay in New York.
- 1:39:30I'm going to go to the other team.
- 1:39:31Great. That's wonderful.
- 1:39:33I'll be known as a New York Met for the rest of my.
- 1:39:35Career, the best possible throw job.
- 1:39:36And I was like, my fingers are crossed.
- 1:39:39I'm like, man, I hope when Devin does his introductory press
- 1:39:42conference, I hope he does a clean shape.
- 1:39:43And because that would be the funniest thing in the history of
- 1:39:46the planet, he did not. He kept the beard for the Mets
- 1:39:49press conference. I can't stand looking at Devin
- 1:39:51Williams because I just after every single game, when he
- 1:39:55failed, he didn't have a good approach to speaking to the
- 1:39:59media. He just found a way to duck and
- 1:40:01weave the media. And, and to me, if you love New
- 1:40:04York, do you want to stay in New York and you understand what it
- 1:40:07is to be in New York, like Jabba is saying, then you have to
- 1:40:10understand that you have to speak to the media.
- 1:40:12You have to understand how the media is going to attack you.
- 1:40:15They push back on that a little bit because I was speaking, you
- 1:40:17know, like when the Mets signed David Williams.
- 1:40:19I obviously go to my, my Co workers over at, you know, who
- 1:40:21covered the Yankees and I'm, I'm like, Hey, you know, I, I only
- 1:40:24was able to cover him on the Yankees for, for so long because
- 1:40:26I was doing all met stuff and a few people said the same thing.
- 1:40:31He's like, he actually got like better with the media the more
- 1:40:35he struggled. And that is a very rare quality
- 1:40:38to have. And I think, I think that does
- 1:40:41speak to his character. And I do think that that speaks
- 1:40:44to his ability to take accountability.
- 1:40:45So maybe sometimes and it's weird because you know,
- 1:40:48sometimes the camera is on you and the lights are flashing and
- 1:40:51you know, players clam up because we're all human.
- 1:40:54We've all been there. But you get them one-on-one by
- 1:40:57by their locker and it's a different situation because
- 1:40:59you're just having a conversation person to person.
- 1:41:02Sometimes it's not just like, oh, he can't handle the media.
- 1:41:05Sometimes it's just really difficult to deal with a camera
- 1:41:08in your face and knowing that everything that you say is going
- 1:41:11to be widely scrutinized. So, Laura, you looking at the
- 1:41:13Mets right now? All right, if they strike out on
- 1:41:16Kyle Tucker now, I've heard through the Grapevine that the
- 1:41:20Mets are offering him 50 million, possibly five years
- 1:41:24with an opt out. Now, if that is true, the Mets
- 1:41:28have two play. If he signs with the Mets,
- 1:41:30they're going to have two players, one that's making
- 1:41:3368,000,000, the other one that's making 50 million.
- 1:41:36Their owner is spending almost $120 million a year on two
- 1:41:40players. And if they fail to make the
- 1:41:43playoffs, honestly, I understand you're saying the manager.
- 1:41:46I would say that I would get rid of the manager and the president
- 1:41:50of the organization. You cannot go into a season with
- 1:41:54this kind of lineup with Juan Soto, Kyle Tucker, Lindor and
- 1:41:58all this talent. And if you find a way to get a
- 1:42:01pitcher, maybe a Tarek Schuble, I mean, you're going to how's it
- 1:42:05going to work? How's it going to work?
- 1:42:07So I do have like a hard and fast rule.
- 1:42:09I never call for anyone's job as just like.
- 1:42:11That's just something. I know, I know.
- 1:42:14But I do understand where you're coming from.
- 1:42:16I I and I do think, yeah, it's probably going to be like
- 1:42:20Mendoza's going to have to be the flak jacket a little bit
- 1:42:22because they're going to get Stearns a little bit more of a
- 1:42:24leash. So you probably, yeah, if they
- 1:42:26don't make the playoffs, I don't see Mendoza surviving this.
- 1:42:30I think it's the end of his contract anyway, so they
- 1:42:31probably wouldn't renew it. Stearns, you know, like he has
- 1:42:35kind of like a five year plan. Steve, Steve Cohen has has
- 1:42:40seemingly bought in. But yeah, if you get Kyle Tucker
- 1:42:45and you don't make the playoffs, that's going to be an issue.
- 1:42:48I mean, and but there are like, there's so many.
- 1:42:50Like, OK, so you now you have two right fielders essentially,
- 1:42:54even though one of the yeah, they can both play either
- 1:42:56corner, but you have two right fielders locked in for like
- 1:43:00however many years, five years, four years, whatever Tucker ends
- 1:43:02up getting, you have no true first baseman.
- 1:43:06Oh, you got. Wait a second.
- 1:43:08You sign Jorge Polanco, you're moving in the first for the
- 1:43:12first time in his career. That makes a lot of sense.
- 1:43:15Thank you, David. You've given us a.
- 1:43:17Strategy. Hey, playing first for a base is
- 1:43:20extremely easy. Tell him what?
- 1:43:24No. Well, like I, I, I, I do have my
- 1:43:27reservations about the Jorge Polanco Mark Vientos first place
- 1:43:31platoon. So let's see how that goes.
- 1:43:35Last question for me, I want to shift gears a little bit.
- 1:43:37I know you recently did an interview with with Billy
- 1:43:39Wagner, who just got inducted Hall of Fame last year.
- 1:43:41Good interview by the way. Yes, and obviously all the Hall
- 1:43:44of Fame controversy, Jeff Kent finally getting in this year.
- 1:43:46We talked about it with a Nationals play by play bar
- 1:43:48coster Charlie Slows, who's had his thoughts on the way they've
- 1:43:51operated. First of all, what was the
- 1:43:52interview like with him as you doing it as a player?
- 1:43:56And also, what are your thoughts on the Hall of Fame?
- 1:43:58OK, first of all, Billy Wagner is is so cool and you know,
- 1:44:01every time I get to talk to to some of these guys, we also have
- 1:44:03book show alter on a little bit more like I obviously I never
- 1:44:06played professional baseball. These guys have forgotten more
- 1:44:09about baseball than I will ever know.
- 1:44:10And the idea that just to be able to pick their brain and see
- 1:44:14kind of like a different version of a sport that I love is
- 1:44:18fantastic. So Billy was great.
- 1:44:21It was honestly just nice to see him exhale because I feel like
- 1:44:24he's spent the last 10 January's just in a state of like constant
- 1:44:27turmoil. And I was super proud because
- 1:44:30last year was my, my first year being allowed to vote for the
- 1:44:35Hall of Fame because you need 10 years of continuous service.
- 1:44:39And I, I, I banged that horn for Billy Wagner.
- 1:44:43And I was like, and I was on SNY at the time and they're like,
- 1:44:46Billy Wagner got in and my mouth just dropped open.
- 1:44:49Yes, justice for relievers. So I think that's cool.
- 1:44:53And, you know, he said some interesting stuff.
- 1:44:55He does think hopefully that relievers will be more valued in
- 1:44:59the future by Hall of Fame voters, especially as the voting
- 1:45:03class gets a little bit younger. I mean, those of us who are
- 1:45:06starting to get our votes now grew up in the age of the
- 1:45:09reliever. You know, we didn't grow up,
- 1:45:11grow up in the age of the, you know, every guys throwing a
- 1:45:13complete game, 140 pitches, whatever else.
- 1:45:16So we see the value. You know, we grew up with Billy
- 1:45:19Wagner, we grew up with Mariano Rivera, we grew up with Jumpy.
- 1:45:21Like these are the guys like, you know, let all these guys are
- 1:45:26huge parts of our baseball experience.
- 1:45:28And so we put value on them even though they're not going to have
- 1:45:30the counting stats of a starting pitcher.
- 1:45:33So I do think that there's going to be a shift there.
- 1:45:36And in terms of the Hall of Fame, like it's a cool thing.
- 1:45:40It's an honor to be able to get to vote, to always get it right,
- 1:45:43No? Do you Do you post yours?
- 1:45:46I do, but I have to wait until tomorrow, I believe, because my,
- 1:45:50my newspaper I write for Newsday wants us all to kind of do it at
- 1:45:54the same time. So I'll, I'll reveal my ballot
- 1:45:57tomorrow. But, you know, spoiler alert,
- 1:46:00Carlos Beltran should be in the Hall of Fame, so we'll see that.
- 1:46:04So I, and this is my last question and, and this is
- 1:46:07something that's near and dear to my heart because I've gotten
- 1:46:11to become friends beyond the business side of being a beat
- 1:46:16writer. And I know how hard it is
- 1:46:19because you first and foremost have a job and provide, but
- 1:46:25second of all, you have to get into us and to know us and for
- 1:46:29us to trust you. So what have what have you seen
- 1:46:35in your realm? And, and knowing the guys like
- 1:46:38George King and all these guys that have been in the post and
- 1:46:43Sweeney Murti and all these guys that I still am dear friends to
- 1:46:46this day. Fines and all these guys that
- 1:46:48have moved on doing different stuff, right?
- 1:46:51What? What would you give advice to
- 1:46:55players to be like? Hey, we're not here to attack
- 1:47:00you. We're here to praise you, but to
- 1:47:05be accountable at the same time. And I think it's exactly that.
- 1:47:10It's just I, I'm never in attack mode and I don't know that many
- 1:47:14of my colleagues are. Most of the time we're just
- 1:47:17trying to figure out why. If you're struggling, we're
- 1:47:19trying to figure out why, you know, because that's what fans
- 1:47:22are asking us about and we're trying to relay that
- 1:47:25information. And like, we all love baseball.
- 1:47:30I think there's like this, like thing of this like, oh, you
- 1:47:32know, the cranky baseball beat writers, they don't even like
- 1:47:35what they're doing and blah, blah.
- 1:47:36I could do your, your job better than you.
- 1:47:38And I'm like, dude, I would not be away from home 10 months out
- 1:47:42of the year if I hated the sport of baseball.
- 1:47:44Are you kidding me? I'm in Port Saint Lucie for 6
- 1:47:471/2 weeks and I'm doing this because I hate baseball.
- 1:47:50There are other ways to make money like so I, you know, I
- 1:47:55think sometimes and we're all guilty of it.
- 1:47:58We do it to players, players do it to us.
- 1:48:02We tend to forget that everyone's just human.
- 1:48:05We're all going back to families.
- 1:48:07We're all trying to make, you know, enough money to get by
- 1:48:11and, or enough money to, you know, for generations to get by,
- 1:48:14depending on which job that you have.
- 1:48:16And I find what I've learned from the older guys is, you
- 1:48:21know, just try to engage in people on a human level helps a
- 1:48:25lot. And then you when you have that
- 1:48:28trust, don't portray it. And that doesn't mean never say
- 1:48:31anything bad because it's my job if something is bad to say, hey,
- 1:48:35this is bad. But it's also not taking pot
- 1:48:38shots. It's not like, you know, gotcha
- 1:48:40sort of situation. It's well, you know, his ERA in
- 1:48:43the months of like whatever his ERA in the month of July was
- 1:48:467.35. That's not good.
- 1:48:48I mean, like, it's one of those things.
- 1:48:50So there's a balance there. For as much as you give people
- 1:48:54Flack, you have to also praise them when they're doing well
- 1:48:56well. But I also think you you
- 1:48:59understand from that perspective.
- 1:49:01And for me going through it, and I was a 19 year old kid that had
- 1:49:05my son. A year later, I'm in New York
- 1:49:10City. Yeah, my son literally did an
- 1:49:13interview for me. And the relationships that you
- 1:49:19create, because exactly what you said is get to know them on a
- 1:49:23human level. Because really, when it comes
- 1:49:26down to it, we all put our clothes on the same way, we
- 1:49:30shower the same way. We do the same thing, we just do
- 1:49:32it differently. And when you can relate to them
- 1:49:36and they trust you, when you talk shit about me, it's because
- 1:49:40I deserve it. My son literally came in and
- 1:49:44there was 30 of you in front of my locker.
- 1:49:46He goes, Dad, you couldn't throw your fastball for a strike.
- 1:49:50And I go, there is everything that I needed to tell you guys
- 1:49:54tonight. There you go.
- 1:49:56And they all and they all do. Like there's nothing more to
- 1:50:00even ask. Like, even though I'm getting
- 1:50:03asked different questions, that's the story.
- 1:50:06Yeah. But the human aspect of all the
- 1:50:08guys that I got to know and I think and, and you are amazing.
- 1:50:13You are great in the stories that you and I, I love now
- 1:50:16getting to hear the perspective that you come from of knowing it
- 1:50:20on a human level, because sometimes they all look at us as
- 1:50:24different. And like, that's my job.
- 1:50:27Well, it goes deeper than the job, like because I love the
- 1:50:31game, but also because I love the game.
- 1:50:35I have to love the people in the game and when you get that and
- 1:50:41why I'm still friends with these guys to this day is because they
- 1:50:46cared. They know I sucked and I was an
- 1:50:51open book. I sucked.
- 1:50:53I sucked. I'm going to tell you, I'm going
- 1:50:55to answer the bell every day, good and bad.
- 1:50:57But you hit the nail on the head when you get to know them on a
- 1:51:01human level and they get to open up to you.
- 1:51:04And like you said, the one-on-one, that's when it's
- 1:51:07just like we're able to be able to do that and, and be
- 1:51:11accountable for what we suck at, what we're good at, good and
- 1:51:16bad. And I think that's great.
- 1:51:19And you're, you're doing a fantastic job.
- 1:51:20And it's, it's, it's an honor to have you on the show.
- 1:51:22And I appreciate everything you said because it's always, it's
- 1:51:27always funny and, and Brian hoax obviously on the show a bunch,
- 1:51:31but it's just, it's real. He he sent me beef jerky for
- 1:51:34Christmas. This is very Hoke like.
- 1:51:38Yeah. 100% love him. And so it, it, it's just, it's
- 1:51:43just refreshing to see because like you said, you're getting
- 1:51:48stories and people want to hear that, but the relationship is so
- 1:51:52much bigger than what people see.
- 1:51:54And there are going to be times when we suck to like we are
- 1:51:57human. The one thing that I can only
- 1:51:58say, and that's like my parting thing is, and even to aspiring
- 1:52:02sports reporters out there, oh, if you write something bad about
- 1:52:05somebody and not even bad or critical, show up the next day,
- 1:52:09show your face, I think that's super duper important.
- 1:52:11And I feel that's starting to become a lost art.
- 1:52:14All right, Laura, I have one more question to ask you.
- 1:52:16It's like a two-part question. Obviously the we mentioned Kyle
- 1:52:20Tucker, let's say the Mets strike out on him.
- 1:52:24Do they go after Cody Bellinger one or do they wait until the
- 1:52:29season starts at the trade deadline where they can make a
- 1:52:32move? They can they could trade for
- 1:52:34another outfielder, bring in a bring up one of these younger
- 1:52:36guys that they have in their farm system.
- 1:52:39And my, my number two question, if that doesn't work, do they
- 1:52:44dig deep this offseason before the season starts?
- 1:52:47Pitchers and catchers, and they overpay for Tarek Scubal.
- 1:52:50All right, so to if, if. Not gonna happen.
- 1:52:53Relax. If no, Scubal's not gonna happen
- 1:52:55there. The Tigers are asking for the
- 1:52:57universe for Scubal like you'd have to.
- 1:52:59He's a free. Agent No, McClain is not a met
- 1:53:02anymore if you're getting Scubal, And that's just the
- 1:53:04beginning of what's gonna happen.
- 1:53:07So I don't think they're gonna do that, especially for a rental
- 1:53:10because there's no way that Boris is gonna let him sign an
- 1:53:12extension before before the end of the season.
- 1:53:15So, you know, taking that out of the equation, no, Kyle Tucker,
- 1:53:18you're going to be in trouble. You do need an outfielder.
- 1:53:20So they love the Carson bench kid.
- 1:53:22But again, unproven prospect Cody Bellinger is another issue
- 1:53:26because, you know, reportedly the Yankees already offered him
- 1:53:30five years, 30, one, $32 million and he actually wants to go to
- 1:53:34seven. I don't see a world where David
- 1:53:36Sterns commits to Cody Bellinger for seven years because right
- 1:53:39now his market, I think I'm very pro player.
- 1:53:42Players need to get paid, but just in the grand scheme of
- 1:53:44things, how it's projected, his market is inflated.
- 1:53:47I do think as a fit, he fits great because he also plays
- 1:53:50first base and they need a first baseman.
- 1:53:53I just don't know how realistic it is with as hard as the
- 1:53:55Yankees are going after Ballinger.
- 1:53:57After that you might you might have to start looking at stuff
- 1:54:01like, OK, hey, Harris and Vader, which great defensive outfielder
- 1:54:07and you know you don't have a great defensive outfielder and
- 1:54:10Juan Soto and then you have Tyrone Taylor.
- 1:54:12And then you just pray that Carson Bench is really good and
- 1:54:17further explore the trade market and see what's available.
- 1:54:19It's very interesting. I'm, I'm interested to see what
- 1:54:22the Mets are going to do with the Tucker move.
- 1:54:24I I do believe that the Cubs are going to land them.
- 1:54:27That's why they decided to go with Bregman.
- 1:54:29I think that was the draw to keep him over there with the
- 1:54:32Cubs. And I think that's where he's
- 1:54:34going to wind up signing $400 million over there with the
- 1:54:37Cubs. And the Cubs are going to ride
- 1:54:38off into the sunset because they've had the best offseason,
- 1:54:41I believe, in the National League if they make that move.
- 1:54:44But thank you, Laura, for joining us.
- 1:54:46You're fantastic. Keep up the good work and we'll
- 1:54:48get you on before the season starts.
- 1:54:51Awesome. Thanks so much for having me fun
- 1:54:53guys. It was fun.
- 1:54:54Absolutely, Newsday Mets beat writer Laura Albanese.
- 1:54:58She was fantastic. I was my my thought here is, is
- 1:55:02the Kyle Tucker move. If the Mets fail to get Kyle
- 1:55:06Tucker, which more than likely is going to happen, I think he's
- 1:55:08using the Mets as like, what would you call that like a, a
- 1:55:13pull up trying to get that next range of money?
- 1:55:17And I think the Cubs are going to give him what he wants.
- 1:55:19I, I don't know if the Cubs are willing to give him that extra
- 1:55:22$100 million, which is going to make it because I think in my
- 1:55:26opinion, Kyle Tucker's between 300 and 350 million.
- 1:55:30I don't think he's worth 400 million.
- 1:55:31But I think the Cubs are going to have to reach now because now
- 1:55:35the Mets are going to offer him 50 million a year, five years
- 1:55:38with an opt out clause, which is something that I believe Kyle
- 1:55:42Tucker is asking for. So it's going to be very
- 1:55:45interesting. And she says in the next 24 to
- 1:55:4748 hours, it does not mean that Cody Bellinger might be off the
- 1:55:52board after that. Because as soon as Kyle Tucker
- 1:55:55goes, I believe Cody Bellinger. Well, it's, it's, it's the same
- 1:55:58thing we talked about though. It's Bregman set the market and
- 1:56:02we talked about age, we talked about years and he set the
- 1:56:05market for what it's going to be.
- 1:56:09And obviously Boris works different than Excel, works
- 1:56:12different than Varner with Boba Shet and all the other things.
- 1:56:16But it kind of set the market. Yeah, well.
- 1:56:20We'll see what happens. We'll get into a little bit
- 1:56:22later because Fish wants us to move on.
- 1:56:24All right, save your tears, Mom. What's one thing?
- 1:56:29That you can't talk to me about. My sexual fantasies.
- 1:56:34Say your sorry. It is not ideal, but if it's
- 1:56:36what means, it is not ideal, but if it is not ideal, but if it
- 1:56:39is, what means you can't dribble stamp a double stamp, you can't
- 1:56:43dribble stamp a double stamp Lord.
- 1:56:44You can't dribble stamp a double stamp.
- 1:56:46Lord you guys. It's time for Save your tear
- 1:56:52save. Your tear.
- 1:56:54All right, everybody, welcome back to Save Your Tears,
- 1:56:58everyone's favorite fantasy game.
- 1:57:00We got $15 salary cap. We're not my favorite.
- 1:57:03The divisional round, well, I guess you don't count as part of
- 1:57:06everybody for this then Errol, you're just above and beyond
- 1:57:10because since you came in last place this last week that.
- 1:57:14Shows you how much I care. That shows you how much I care.
- 1:57:18I don't know. You seem to be the same guy that
- 1:57:20was really invested in his second and third place finishes
- 1:57:23most of the regular. Season The only the only time I
- 1:57:28was happy was when I was kicking your butt in fantasy football.
- 1:57:31That's that's different. That's that's that.
- 1:57:33Was the only thing that I was concentrating on whipping your
- 1:57:36ass? Balls, you had a ridiculous team
- 1:57:38this year to be. You got Jonathan Taylor in the
- 1:57:42second. I mean, you got the second best
- 1:57:45running back in the second round.
- 1:57:45That's how you win. But guys, let's talk.
- 1:57:48Save your tears. I'm going to throw this up here,
- 1:57:51Speedy. You were the winner last week so
- 1:57:52you can decide the order and it looks like it was goody.
- 1:57:56No Goody was the winner. I'm sorry, Goody was the winner.
- 1:57:58Well, you were in silver goodies.
- 1:58:00Not here. So, Speedy, you're the next guy.
- 1:58:02So let's get the knit back in for Goody and you know what let
- 1:58:06me go first speedy, because I already did mine because I
- 1:58:09wasn't sure I was going to make the show.
- 1:58:10This is my Michael Jordan flu game right now.
- 1:58:12Somehow finding a way to get it done.
- 1:58:14But I took and I'm going to put it up here for everyone to look
- 1:58:17at. If you're watching at home, this
- 1:58:18is the time of the show. I remind you that we're
- 1:58:21available both on audio and video.
- 1:58:23You can find us on Spotify and Apple.
- 1:58:25You can also find us on YouTube. We're housed all of our stuff,
- 1:58:28our whole live shows, all our all our 10 to 20 minute
- 1:58:31segments. We put them up there and we have
- 1:58:32a ton of shorts that we put on YouTube.
- 1:58:34They're also streaming on X. They're streaming on TikTok and
- 1:58:39Instagram, Facebook, you're going to find us if you're on
- 1:58:41any social media, let everybody know and give us a nice
- 1:58:44subscribe. Guys.
- 1:58:45Here's the $5 ring. We got three games.
- 1:58:47We're going to do the first three games of wild card
- 1:58:51weekend, which is the Bills, Broncos, 49ers, Seahawks and
- 1:58:54Pats. Texans $5 quarterback Josh Allen
- 1:58:57followed by Drake May, Sam Darnold, Brock Purdy for two and
- 1:59:01you can get Bo Nicks for a cool dolar at running back.
- 1:59:05After his performance last week, we're putting CMC right back at
- 1:59:08the top. James Cook was not great last
- 1:59:10week, but he's still the $4.00 running back after his great
- 1:59:13season. Kenneth Walker, the third.
- 1:59:14RJ Harvey and Houston, TX running back Woody Marks for for
- 1:59:19$1.00 at receiver. One, we got JSN, the leading
- 1:59:22receiver in the league this year for five, and it kind of gets a
- 1:59:26little hairy here early. Stefan digs for Jaden Higgins, 3
- 1:59:30again, Nico Collins, unlikely to play Troy Franklin and DeMarcus
- 1:59:34Robinson for a Buck wide receiver 2.
- 1:59:37Cortland Sutton a big time target for Bo Nicks is that $5.
- 1:59:42Juan Jennings with his miracle play last week at 4K, Shawn
- 1:59:45Bodie for three, Khalil Shakur the only Bills receiver I have
- 1:59:49on this list and an old time. Great Cooper Cup for Buck here
- 1:59:53and at tight end last week. Got a touchdown to win the game
- 1:59:56or really put it out of reach. Hunter Henry for 5 bucks, Dalton
- 1:59:59Kincaids for Dalton Schultz is 3, AJ Barner 2 and George
- 2:00:04Kittle's fill in Jake Tungus for a buck.
- 2:00:09All right, I'm going to give you my team first and then sweetie,
- 2:00:11you can figure out the rest. I'm going with Darnold for three
- 2:00:15and JSN back that combo. I was on them in the preseason.
- 2:00:20It would be foolish for me not to stay with them.
- 2:00:22I'm going to go courtland sudden also.
- 2:00:24So now I'm spending $13 on wide receiver one and two and
- 2:00:28spending three on quarterback. That means I got $2.00 for
- 2:00:31running back and tight end. I'm taking Marks and Tungus.
- 2:00:35So Darnold, Marks, JSN Sutton and Tungus Speed.
- 2:00:39Who's next? You're I'll change it up.
- 2:00:41I'll go next. Actually I will go Josh Allen,
- 2:00:44give me Kenneth Walker, give me Shakur.
- 2:00:46All right, let me take JSN then and I'll take Schultz.
- 2:00:49So I got Josh Allen Walker, JSN Shakur and Schultz.
- 2:00:51Who's next? The new.
- 2:00:55Yeah. Oh wait, myth myth.
- 2:00:58I didn't know if you know this, but you were real.
- 2:01:01We got some footage of you outside of City Field the other
- 2:01:03day and it was really impressive.
- 2:01:06I didn't know you had this kind of control over the organization
- 2:01:11over there. Really a great job by you I
- 2:01:14would say. Another.
- 2:01:15Toe job. I'm so glad you put Stearns on a
- 2:01:18leash. I'm putting you on a leash now.
- 2:01:20And it's a bedazzled leash. It's beautiful.
- 2:01:22Breaking you and call me the ladies man and Mr. Still your
- 2:01:25girl. I got to.
- 2:01:27I got to be the new. I got to.
- 2:01:28Be the new GM of the Mets now not.
- 2:01:30Well, honestly, I feel like you you're you might as well just be
- 2:01:33given the title butt plug. I am a.
- 2:01:36All right, Myth. What do you got, kid?
- 2:01:39Oh man, I'm going to go Brock Purdy.
- 2:01:46Let's see, Brock Purdy up CMC, Jaden Higgins.
- 2:01:56I'm going to go. I'm going to go Booty Speedy's
- 2:01:59mom, and then I'm going to go you.
- 2:02:01Got 2 left. 2 left. OK, I'm going to go.
- 2:02:05AJ Barner, A. Lot of hot.
- 2:02:07Lady. All your money this week,
- 2:02:08Nathan. There you go.
- 2:02:11I got pretty CMC Higgins booty and bar.
- 2:02:16Who's next? Jabba will go you this week.
- 2:02:19Bo next I had to take a shit. Then I'm gonna go CMC.
- 2:02:24I got the bubble guts. Then I'm gonna go digs.
- 2:02:29I wouldn't piss on him if he was on fire.
- 2:02:33And you know, I always go the booty, the booty serial killer.
- 2:02:38And I'm gonna save a dollar this week, but I'm gonna go tongas.
- 2:02:42I I'd like the fact that kittles out and I think they're gonna
- 2:02:46use tongas a little bit. He tastes himself.
- 2:02:50All right, I got Bo, Nicks, CMC, Biggs, Bodie and Tungus.
- 2:02:56Who's the next Tommy All? Right, Tommy?
- 2:02:58I want to pull jobless panties down I.
- 2:03:04Forgot about that. That was a good one.
- 2:03:05All right. Fucking.
- 2:03:09Daily Wives. Let me go.
- 2:03:11Josh Allen. James Cook.
- 2:03:15It can wait. I'm.
- 2:03:16Going to go Jaden Higgins. Anyone.
- 2:03:21Khalil Shakur and somebody I'm always picking.
- 2:03:23And Jake Tongis, do you have? A direct diagonal.
- 2:03:26I do. I didn't realize that as you
- 2:03:27just said that. But I I'm not doing any freaking
- 2:03:29tag team direct. Diagonal going in so.
- 2:03:34Very strategic, Tommy, well done.
- 2:03:36And that leaves only our host several marks.
- 2:03:39A big boobs, I can tell you that.
- 2:03:44All right, I'm going to go Brock Purdy CMC JSN.
- 2:03:51So I got that would be 12 already.
- 2:03:53All right, I will go Shakur. And how many do I have left one
- 2:04:01left Tong, right. Tongus.
- 2:04:04Tongus, that's where I'll go. There you go.
- 2:04:06All right, I've got Purdy, CMC, Tungus, JSN, and Shakur.
- 2:04:13I'll bring it up so we can see the full board.
- 2:04:15We got a couple of Josh Allen's, a couple of Purdies, CMC on half
- 2:04:19the ballots, JSN on half the ballots, a lot of Booty and
- 2:04:24Shakur going on and everyone wants a little Tungus buffed
- 2:04:28everything out. Guys, We will go over this on
- 2:04:32Tuesday's show next week. We're not going to be on Monday.
- 2:04:34It's going to be Tuesday next week for Save Your Tears.
- 2:04:38See you then. See you then.
- 2:04:40Speaking of CNN, that is Mike Tomlin.
- 2:04:44Who's seeing them then? ESP NS Adam Schefner reports
- 2:04:48that Tuesday that 19 year Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin
- 2:04:52is stepping down and will not return for his 20th season.
- 2:04:57Yahoo Sports reports that Mike Tomlin isn't planning on
- 2:05:00coaching during the 2026 season and since he resigned instead of
- 2:05:07being fired, the Steelers will retain Tomlin Wright.
- 2:05:11Wright's forcing A-Team to trade for him if they want him as
- 2:05:16their head coach for the future. Tomlin is likely to take a high
- 2:05:20profile broadcasting job this season and has offers from 4
- 2:05:24different networks already. Reports say that Steelers owner
- 2:05:28Art Rooney wanted to keep Tomlin in 2026 for the season, but
- 2:05:35admitted he wasn't shocked when he decided to step down with the
- 2:05:39Steelers loss to this Tex to the Texans.
- 2:05:42Tomlin also tied Marvin Lewis for the most consecutive playoff
- 2:05:47losses for a coach, having lost seven straight playoff games and
- 2:05:52not winning a playoff game since 2016.
- 2:05:57Despite the failures in the postseason this past decade,
- 2:06:01Tomlin never had a losing season.
- 2:06:04In his 19 year tenure, Tomlin finishes a with a record of 193
- 2:06:10and 114 and 2A playoff record of 8 and 12 and winning Super Bowl
- 2:06:1743. Since the AFL and NFL merger,
- 2:06:21Tomlin is just the third head coach the Steelers have had
- 2:06:25alongside Chuck Knoll and Bill Cower.
- 2:06:30Now, no, no other team has ever had fewer than 10 coaches over
- 2:06:36that time. I will say this, Mike Tomlin is
- 2:06:40one of the best coaches in the NFL.
- 2:06:42There's no question that he has regular season coaches as far as
- 2:06:46the playoffs are concerned. He hasn't really had a good
- 2:06:50career in that sector. Now, maybe it's because of Ben
- 2:06:53Roethlisberger. Ben Roethlisberger was at the
- 2:06:55tail end of his career. He was always hurt.
- 2:06:58He was never healthy. And I think that definitely
- 2:07:01affected the Steelers and, and really what they did with that
- 2:07:05second tier team when they lost some of their star players like
- 2:07:09Palomalu and James Harrison that that everything started falling
- 2:07:14off for the the Pittsburgh Steelers.
- 2:07:17And I and again, the fact here is Mike Tomlin has had a long
- 2:07:24career with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
- 2:07:26There's no doubt he he doesn't need to do anything more for a
- 2:07:30franchise than what he has done for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
- 2:07:33But if you look at this offseason and you look at the
- 2:07:36coaches that have been let go of, walked or resigned, you look
- 2:07:40at John Harbaugh, 18 years, 1718 years with the the Baltimore
- 2:07:45Ravens, Kevin Stefanski who won two coach of the years in in a
- 2:07:50five year stint, another guy that got let go, Brian Dabel.
- 2:07:55If you look at some of these coaches that were let go or
- 2:07:57resigned, this might be the biggest offseason we've seen
- 2:08:01when it comes to coaches being available.
- 2:08:04Mike McCarthy still available. There is so much talent out
- 2:08:08there when it comes to veteran coaches and that's what you're
- 2:08:11looking for. When you look at some of these
- 2:08:12teams that haven't been successful over the years, the
- 2:08:15New York Giants, the Miami Dolphins, the New York Jets, we
- 2:08:18could go on and on and on. You look at these organizations,
- 2:08:22they're looking for that veteran coach that can get them over the
- 2:08:24hump. There are a dozen of them that
- 2:08:27are available right now. And, and you talk about some of
- 2:08:30the young guys that are going to be available after the season's
- 2:08:32end. You you talk about the defensive
- 2:08:34coordinator right now. What's his last name on, on the
- 2:08:37Chargers? Minter Minter.
- 2:08:39Minter is going to be a guy that is going to be interviewed.
- 2:08:42You have all these guys. Shula is another one that is
- 2:08:45going to his father was a was a great coach in the NFL.
- 2:08:49There's a lot of great, talented offensive and defensive corner
- 2:08:54still available. But when you look at a
- 2:08:55franchise, you're looking for that veteran guy.
- 2:08:58What are the Pittsburgh Steelers going to do now?
- 2:09:00You lose Mike Tomlin, what are the Ravens going to do?
- 2:09:02You lose John Harbaugh, you're, you're going to bring in either
- 2:09:07a rookie, a guy that's never been in this position before, or
- 2:09:09somebody that's been a part of that organization for a
- 2:09:12significant amount of time. That doesn't bode well.
- 2:09:14Now, John Harbaugh never had a coaching experience when he took
- 2:09:18over for the Ravens, when obviously the the step down of
- 2:09:23Brian Billick. Brian Billick, who won a Super
- 2:09:26Bowl in 2000 with the Ravens with, with all those great
- 2:09:29talented players that he's had, when he took over that team, he
- 2:09:32was a special teams coach. And then you look at Mike
- 2:09:35Tomlin, he's another guy, special teams coach that took
- 2:09:38over for a Coward, who is a great head coach who won a Super
- 2:09:43Bowl and then decided to step, step down after drafting a guy
- 2:09:47like Ben Roethlisberger. Remember Ben Roethlisberger at
- 2:09:50the time when Coward stepped down, was only in the league for
- 2:09:52like two or three years. So he wasn't there that long
- 2:09:56when Coward decided to step away from the game.
- 2:09:59So and and never took another job after that.
- 2:10:01You you think about Mike Tomlin, Mike Tomlin doesn't need a coach
- 2:10:05anymore. That's what I'm trying to get
- 2:10:06at. He could be like a Coward and
- 2:10:08you could say, you know what, I could be a a successful
- 2:10:11broadcaster, a successful analyst and be a football guy
- 2:10:15and never have to travel, not have to deal with what I was
- 2:10:18dealing with for 1819 years. Look at the guys that he had to
- 2:10:21deal with, Le'veon Bell, Ben Roethlisberger, Antonio Brown,
- 2:10:26Juju Smith, Schuster. Look at all these guys that he
- 2:10:29had to deal with the Tik Toks and Instagrams and all the
- 2:10:33stupid things that Antonio Brown was doing on and off the field.
- 2:10:36Ben Roethlisberger was doing on and off the field that he got
- 2:10:39away with. People forget riding his
- 2:10:41motorcycle and all the other stuff that he was doing at the
- 2:10:43bars. So you think about Mike Tomlin,
- 2:10:47there are a lot of ups and downs in his career as a head coach
- 2:10:50for the Pittsburgh Steelers, But one thing I could say about Mike
- 2:10:53Tomlin, he was a likable person. Every single player that's ever
- 2:10:56been coached by him said he was a great, great leader, great
- 2:10:59coach, great man, great father figure.
- 2:11:02And, and that's the, the one thing that I could say and I
- 2:11:05could pinpoint on the things that I didn't like about a guy
- 2:11:08like Mike Tomlin is he couldn't develop a quarterback.
- 2:11:11Think about it, Kenny Pickett, they brought him to the team,
- 2:11:14brought him to the team a couple of years ago.
- 2:11:15Failed you, you, you talk about all these different guys that
- 2:11:19they've drafted over the years that have failed second round
- 2:11:23picks, third round picks, first round picks.
- 2:11:25He couldn't develop a quarterback.
- 2:11:27And I'm not saying it's easy to develop a quarterback, but you
- 2:11:30talk about franchises that couldn't do it, Miami, The Jets,
- 2:11:33all failures of organizations. The Giants haven't really
- 2:11:37developed the quarterback since Eli Manning.
- 2:11:39Now you, you think that Jackson darts the guy.
- 2:11:42So there's a lot of guessing at that when it when you when it
- 2:11:45comes to the quarterback position.
- 2:11:46But Mike Tomlin is going to be looked at not because of his
- 2:11:49wins and loss record. It's his playoffs.
- 2:11:52It's his failure to win in the playoffs besides the Super Bowl
- 2:11:56that he won and it wasn't his team.
- 2:11:57It was honestly that was Bill Coward's team.
- 2:12:01He took over for Bill Coward and within what was it, 2-3 years,
- 2:12:04he wins the Super Bowl. That does that just doesn't
- 2:12:07happen. And since then, he's never won.
- 2:12:11He's never been to a Super Bowl since then.
- 2:12:14There's there was they were OO9. They were the Yeah O 708-0809
- 2:12:20season was. That year.
- 2:12:22It was the year after the Giants beat the Patriots.
- 2:12:25Again, you look at the organization as a whole and you
- 2:12:28look at Aunt Rooney. Where does Aunt Rooney go here?
- 2:12:30Does he bring in a veteran guy? Does he sign?
- 2:12:33Bring in a Mike McCarthy. Does he bring in a Kevin
- 2:12:35Stefanski now? I think right now with Mike
- 2:12:38Tomlin stepping down, they were rating the teams and where they
- 2:12:42were rating on ESPN. And by the way, I I can't stand
- 2:12:44Stephen A Smith because I don't want to ask him what he thinks
- 2:12:48from top to bottom, who the best team is to the worst team.
- 2:12:51We all know he roots for the Giants.
- 2:12:53So we put the Giants number 2 when it comes to pure talent.
- 2:12:56It would go in my in my honest opinion, I would say the Atlanta
- 2:13:01Falcons, then I would say the Pittsburgh Steelers, then I'd
- 2:13:04say the Baltimore Ravens, then I'd say the New York Giants, and
- 2:13:08then and so on and so on. Arizona and Arizona would
- 2:13:11probably be a little bit under the New York Giants.
- 2:13:13Some people would put them over the Yeah, I would.
- 2:13:14Just say that's a toss up. Yeah, so the.
- 2:13:17Yeah, But do do you think like when they when he stepped down,
- 2:13:22do you think it was more like to to save face that they didn't
- 2:13:27fire him? They.
- 2:13:28Weren't going to. Though no they weren't I I do
- 2:13:31not believe they had any interest in fire.
- 2:13:33They're going to hold his rights anyways because they're going to
- 2:13:35get something. Out of the other reason, Jabba.
- 2:13:37Is it's the Sean Payton thing when he went to the Broncos?
- 2:13:41Yeah, but guess what? He's only under contract for
- 2:13:43another year now. Oh, it's only a year.
- 2:13:46It's. Only another.
- 2:13:47Year all they said was the 2026 season.
- 2:13:49Yes and I think the only reason he would have been fired Jabba
- 2:13:52is if they actually did sell the team like they rumored to in the
- 2:13:55offseason but they never did. As long as the Rooneys are
- 2:13:57there, I don't think they were ever going to fire.
- 2:13:59Him. I think that's the reason why my
- 2:14:00Tomlin is going to step down this year and sit out for the
- 2:14:03season. He doesn't want to be
- 2:14:04controlled. He doesn't want to be, oh, we're
- 2:14:06going to trade you here and you got to coach this team.
- 2:14:08He doesn't want to deal with that.
- 2:14:09He also doesn't want to be a coach that obviously gets traded
- 2:14:13and then decides, you know what, I don't want to, I don't want to
- 2:14:16coach this team just like Bill Belichick did within 24 hours
- 2:14:19with the New York Jets, stepped down with The Jets and went to
- 2:14:22the the Patriots. He doesn't want to do something
- 2:14:24like that. Mike Tomlin doesn't have that
- 2:14:25kind of personality. I think Mike Tomlin really
- 2:14:29realizes now he has a career in broadcasting if he wants to step
- 2:14:33away from it. Remember what he was dealing
- 2:14:35with in Pittsburgh was craziness year in and year out.
- 2:14:39Some of the the personalities. Look at George Pickens, you
- 2:14:42know, I mean dealing with him the way he had to deal with him
- 2:14:45the time that he was there. And then DK Metcalf on some of
- 2:14:49the things that happened at the end of the season that he was
- 2:14:51dealing with that I think they kind of blocked out what was
- 2:14:54really going on in that locker room and what he was doing with
- 2:14:57some of the things that DK Metcalf was doing on and off the
- 2:15:00field. I mean, there's a lot of things
- 2:15:02that he was dealing with. He took on a a big
- 2:15:05responsibility taking all these different personalities and a
- 2:15:08lot of unique personalities he had to deal with over there in
- 2:15:11Pittsburgh and have to deal with it with ease.
- 2:15:14So I would give him credit for that.
- 2:15:16What I won't give him credit for is the development of the most
- 2:15:20important position in professional sports, and that's
- 2:15:23the quarterback position. Everybody wants to make fun of
- 2:15:25this coach and that coach and and this coach and that coach.
- 2:15:28Hey, guess what? He was the one that wanted Kenny
- 2:15:30Pickett. He was the one that said Kenny
- 2:15:32Pickett look great when he watched him play for Pitt.
- 2:15:35He also was the one that said this guy could be a franchise
- 2:15:38quarterback for us for the next 15 years.
- 2:15:41How long did it take him to realize that Kenny Pickett
- 2:15:44wasn't the guy? Too long, and that's the
- 2:15:46problem. When you look at some of the
- 2:15:48instances of the Steelers losing their best players, you talk
- 2:15:50about Paula Malu and Harrison and guys like that.
- 2:15:53Look at the core of that defense.
- 2:15:54Really, they had trouble finding and drafting and developing
- 2:15:57corners, which is a key position in today's game, especially with
- 2:16:00more spread offense. Porter's been pretty good.
- 2:16:01Porter's been good. But I, I would say in the last
- 2:16:04Patrick, I would say, well, he he's a hybrid.
- 2:16:06I would say he and he was also a trait too.
- 2:16:08I'm talking. About yeah, but he he still
- 2:16:09helped develop. Drafting and developing.
- 2:16:11Better with Pittsburgh. Sure.
- 2:16:13And I I just think in general, there's just not enough
- 2:16:15consistency with that on the defense.
- 2:16:16And this is a guy that Mike Tomlin that he came from the
- 2:16:19defensive side and I think parts of the stretches, even though
- 2:16:22you're right, he was good at stabilizing the culture there
- 2:16:24and he was still good at being competitive.
- 2:16:25And what has been a very difficult division outside of
- 2:16:27the Browns, all the all the other teams have been
- 2:16:29competitive for good stretches of time.
- 2:16:32The other thing that I think he refused to evolve a little
- 2:16:35quicker. And that's why you saw Bill
- 2:16:36Belichick really carve him up in playoff games.
- 2:16:38A lot of the time. You saw the Ravens even destroy
- 2:16:40them. Besides the first year with
- 2:16:42Flacco and Harbaugh there, when the Steelers be in the AC
- 2:16:44championship, you saw them carve them up in playoff games and big
- 2:16:46time playoff games too. Now I will give him credit for
- 2:16:49the fact that I think he's evolved with different types of
- 2:16:52players recently to that I talked to you on the phone,
- 2:16:54Errol, a few days ago about. That's why I think he could
- 2:16:57probably be more evolving to the modern game than Harbaugh would
- 2:17:00be. Even though I think Harbaugh did
- 2:17:02some things with Lamar Jackson, I think there was more Ozzie
- 2:17:04Newsome than it when. But you knew the writing was on
- 2:17:07the wall when Ben Roethlisberger came out before the season ended
- 2:17:11on his podcast and said that he thinks he should go to college
- 2:17:14football. He said Ben Roethlisberger said
- 2:17:17that he should go and coach. I think what Tomlin is great at
- 2:17:21and why I think Roethlisberger probably said that was because
- 2:17:25he's a culture guy. He's a culture guy.
- 2:17:28Like he gets with the culture. He understands people in the way
- 2:17:32they move and shake. Why he got a Pickens, why he
- 2:17:36dealt with AB and in his stuff and why he was so good at that.
- 2:17:41When you bring up like Tik Toks and all the other stuff and why
- 2:17:43I think Ben said that is because yes, he did he not do a great
- 2:17:49job of developing based upon the fact that he never won after O 9
- 2:17:55is because he's a culture guy. And so when you go into that
- 2:18:00college realm and like where I think he would be a great fit is
- 2:18:06because he gets that and he understands it.
- 2:18:10I'd be afraid. I'd be afraid I'd step away if I
- 2:18:13was any, you know, school or I was any program.
- 2:18:18And I'm looking at Mike Tomlin, who's never had any experience
- 2:18:21as a head coach or even assistant coach for college
- 2:18:24football. I would worry to take on a
- 2:18:27responsibility to. Like the landscape of college
- 2:18:30football has changed. You have GM's that are basically
- 2:18:33running the so he can he can be that piece of the puzzle and run
- 2:18:39the culture and be like, hey, guys, this is what we're doing.
- 2:18:42Like you've seen all these coaches in college adapt to
- 2:18:47different things. Like Matt Ruhl never did
- 2:18:48anything social media and now he's got a podcast.
- 2:18:50Now he's on McAfee now he's on. So they they adhere to what?
- 2:18:56And I think he just. Did a great job.
- 2:18:58He took over a job at 34 years old, a very young man.
- 2:19:03He's been there for 19 years now.
- 2:19:06He's in his 50s. OK, would you decide, hey, you
- 2:19:11know what? I'm going to completely change
- 2:19:13my whole outlook to what I was as a head coach.
- 2:19:16And I felt you have to, you have to evolve.
- 2:19:18He's too old. He's too old to do that.
- 2:19:20I I wouldn't know that that's you're looking at Bill
- 2:19:24Belichick. Bill Belichick only did that
- 2:19:26because of his father. He only took that
- 2:19:29responsibility. But at the same time, he's still
- 2:19:31evolving the aspect that he's letting his girlfriend or
- 2:19:34whatever they are. And he's failing, and he's
- 2:19:36making himself look like a complete.
- 2:19:38Ass, yeah, and that's OK, but I'm just like, is it?
- 2:19:44You have, you've looked at as the greatest coach of all time,
- 2:19:47Bill Belichick, the greatest mind the NFL has ever seen, and
- 2:19:51you decided, hey, you know what? I didn't get the Atlanta Falcon
- 2:19:55job. I'm going to college.
- 2:19:57I'm going to coach North Carolina and I'm going to
- 2:20:00recruit players. I'm going to figure out what the
- 2:20:03NIL deal is all about. And I'm going to bring my sexy
- 2:20:05girlfriend who's 24 years old, running up and down the
- 2:20:09sidelines acting like a complete ass.
- 2:20:12And it's going to work. It's absolutely.
- 2:20:14Absolutely going to work. It hasn't worked.
- 2:20:16As a matter of fact, if I was an organization right now with the
- 2:20:19NFL, as good as Bill Belichick is and one of the greatest of
- 2:20:22all time, I'm staying far, far away from Bill Belichick after
- 2:20:26seeing what I have to deal with in North Carolina.
- 2:20:29And also you're dealing with a larger sample too.
- 2:20:30Jabba, he hasn't only coached the one year so far and which
- 2:20:33was drama filled because of his girlfriend and stuff like that
- 2:20:35too. So I don't know what kind of
- 2:20:36sample you're judging of a long time NFL coach going in.
- 2:20:39It's different with somebody like Saban, only coach in the.
- 2:20:41NFL I'm staying far, far, far away from Mike Tomlin, from
- 2:20:44college football. Far, far away I'll be.
- 2:20:47It's going to be on TV. Yes, I'll be an analyst before I
- 2:20:50I even think to go coach college football to deal with recruiting
- 2:20:54players and all that garbage. I if I was my Tom and I'd stay
- 2:20:58far, far away from. That the last eight years he's
- 2:21:01had no quarterback he's had declining Roethlisberger.
- 2:21:05I'd say the third to last year of Roethlisberger's career, he
- 2:21:07was still good, but he had two crap years of Roethlisberger and
- 2:21:11then the Kenny Pickett poo poo platter along the way with the
- 2:21:1441 year old Aaron Rodgers. That roster's terrible Errol.
- 2:21:18They TJ Watt had a punctured lung and they had Patrick Queen.
- 2:21:21They had like one good offensive lineman and McCormick and Joey
- 2:21:24Porter's good, right? But that's not a lights out
- 2:21:28defense. And DK Metcalf, you know, he has
- 2:21:30his troubles. Rodgers not the same player as
- 2:21:33was it his height? I think he overachieved Tomlin
- 2:21:37for the last eight years. Getting to the playoffs with
- 2:21:40some of these crap rosters is is an unbelievable feat.
- 2:21:43If Aaron Glenn or Brian Dabel had this Steelers team, it would
- 2:21:46be a top five pick just like the two team those.
- 2:21:48Two, that would be a winless year.
- 2:21:51I'm telling you, that's a bad roster.
- 2:21:53He was able to, you know, with the culture, with all those
- 2:21:56things to get them playing together, and I think it wore
- 2:21:59him out. The guy deserves a break.
- 2:22:01He absolutely does. He had one of the hardest jobs
- 2:22:04in football with the least talent.
- 2:22:06He did more with less than I would say 99% of.
- 2:22:10You want to hear something funny when we talk about the three
- 2:22:13coaches that have been there, Chuck Noel and Bill Coward,
- 2:22:17Every single one of them. After they left the Pittsburgh
- 2:22:19Steelers, they retired from coaching.
- 2:22:21Yes, every single one of them. Every single one of them.
- 2:22:25And I wouldn't be surprised. But we we've also seen them
- 2:22:28leave and get bigger contracts being broadcasters in on TV.
- 2:22:34Well, I, I, well, first of all, I don't know what Chuck no got,
- 2:22:38but I know Bill Coward got a big contract with CBS and he's very
- 2:22:41much loved at CBS. He's the one guy that they've
- 2:22:44kept over the last 15 years out of all the guys that they keep
- 2:22:48transitioning. So I, I think Bill Coward's a
- 2:22:51very likable person. I, I don't think Mike Tomlin's
- 2:22:54the same personality. I think Mike Tomlin's a likable
- 2:22:57person and I I think he's a lifer and that's why I think
- 2:23:01he's going to take another coaching job.
- 2:23:03I just think he doesn't want to go to a team where Pittsburgh's
- 2:23:06going to trade him to and he's going to have to, hey, I'm going
- 2:23:09to have to do it because that's something that Mike Tomlin will
- 2:23:12do. He will take the job on if he
- 2:23:14says that he'll be willing to be traded.
- 2:23:16I think Mike Tomlin, if he got traded to Arizona, he'll take
- 2:23:19the responsibility on. That's the type of person he is.
- 2:23:21I don't think he wants to do that.
- 2:23:23I think he wants to wait until next offseason where he can
- 2:23:26choose where he wants to go. Yeah, it's it's definitely not
- 2:23:29right now. Take the time off, get on TV.
- 2:23:32He's going to take that Jimmie Johnson slot.
- 2:23:34He's retiring from the Fox Show. That's the one that I'm hearing
- 2:23:37right now. That is most likely for him.
- 2:23:41I'm sure he'll be good. You know, it's just first year
- 2:23:43doing it as just like anybody, you get better the more you do
- 2:23:45something. But I'd like to hear what he has
- 2:23:48to say, you know, after so many years of, you know, playing it
- 2:23:51close to the vest. I want to hear his opinions.
- 2:23:54I want to hear what a great coach in the modern era.
- 2:23:57Because all the guys we hear, they're old time guys now.
- 2:23:59Like the game has changed so much from when they were
- 2:24:02coaching. Remember Tony Romo that first
- 2:24:04year he came into the broadcast booth, he still knew all the
- 2:24:06players in the league. And now he doesn't research
- 2:24:08anything. He don't care no more.
- 2:24:10That's kind of like and then he's not as good.
- 2:24:11People are really upset at him. They're talking about demoting,
- 2:24:14you know, Nance and Romo to be the number two team.
- 2:24:16It's not going to happen because of Nance and the CBS forever.
- 2:24:19Because of the money they're getting too.
- 2:24:21And the money, but they're they're not good anymore.
- 2:24:23Like they weren't good, but Romo was really good when he was
- 2:24:26involved in and Tomlin's still got the league on his mind.
- 2:24:29Like he'll know, at least for the first few years that who
- 2:24:32who's really good and who what coaches do what.
- 2:24:34And I can't wait to hear stuff like that.
- 2:24:36He's going to give us great insight.
- 2:24:37I, I don't know how good he's going to be.
- 2:24:40You know, when it comes to working and dealing with
- 2:24:42personalities at a table, you know, you, you look at
- 2:24:45Gronkowski, he's a great personality on a football field.
- 2:24:48When he speaks, he speaks like an idiot.
- 2:24:50I don't want to hear Rob Gronkowski and his, his, his
- 2:24:53thoughts on the play or or quarterback play in the NFL
- 2:24:58right now because every time I heard it, I laughed.
- 2:25:00I I don't want to hear what he's got.
- 2:25:02To say that's kind of Jason Whitten, too.
- 2:25:04You remember Jason Whitten? He wouldn't win the booth.
- 2:25:06They're all bad, man. They're all bad.
- 2:25:08I mean, Julian Edelman, I love you.
- 2:25:10But Julian, I, I think you're a funny guy.
- 2:25:12You really are. But your podcast is one of the
- 2:25:15most ridiculous podcasts I've ever heard before in my entire
- 2:25:19life. And I understand he's got a good
- 2:25:21relationship with Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski gets all these
- 2:25:24different guests on his show, ex NFL players.
- 2:25:27That's great. And I want to hear what they got
- 2:25:28us. I don't want to hear Julian
- 2:25:29Edelman. And now he's signed with Fox
- 2:25:31because his best buddy Tom Brady's there and Rob
- 2:25:35Gronkowski's there. Who's next?
- 2:25:37Oh, let's bring in Vince Wilfork.
- 2:25:39Hey, if Bill Belichick gets fired from North Carolina, let's
- 2:25:42bring him to the dinner table. Let's get all four of them at
- 2:25:45the front lines of Fox Sports. I don't want to hear these guys.
- 2:25:50I want to hear guys that are actually know the game as a
- 2:25:54broadcaster, not as a player. Because really in the ends of
- 2:25:59understanding the game of football, they know more than we
- 2:26:01do. But when it comes to bringing
- 2:26:03out a personality and understanding it in a
- 2:26:07personality type of way, I don't want to hear them because
- 2:26:10they're not funny. They're stupid and dumb.
- 2:26:13And I, I just, I'm afraid to see what Mike Tomlin is going to be
- 2:26:18between these guys and the, you know, Michael Strahan and Rob
- 2:26:23Gronkowski. And I don't know any one of
- 2:26:26these guys. I, I don't know who's the other
- 2:26:28one. Terry Bradshaw.
- 2:26:29Terry Bradshaw, you know, I don't know how this is going to
- 2:26:32work. I love Jimmie Johnson because
- 2:26:34you know what Jimmie Johnson used to do?
- 2:26:36He used to tan. He used to smile.
- 2:26:38They asked him a couple of questions and he got paid.
- 2:26:41Mike Tomlin's not that type of guy.
- 2:26:43He's not going to sit there and say, go ahead, pay me.
- 2:26:46Mike Tomlin speaks and he has a personality and he's going to
- 2:26:50say what he feels and he's going to, you see what he's done to
- 2:26:54some of the players he called his players out on, you know, on
- 2:26:57media day, he called his players out before the season started by
- 2:27:02the lack of play that they were doing in a preseason game.
- 2:27:05So we know what Mike Tomlin is all about.
- 2:27:08So I don't know how this is going to work when they tell him
- 2:27:10to zipper his mouth and he's not going to zipper it.
- 2:27:13All right, ladies and gentlemen, Fish's Play of the week.
- 2:27:16This is great about sports. You play to win the game.
- 2:27:19Hello. You play to win the game.
- 2:27:23Fish's play of the win. Win.
- 2:27:26All right, guys. Welcome back to Fish's.
- 2:27:29Play of the Week. I got a great one for you.
- 2:27:31We mentioned it a little bit earlier tonight.
- 2:27:35There's a great name for this play, the one that beat, you
- 2:27:38know, Errol's beloved second favorite team, the Eagles.
- 2:27:42You know, I personally, you know, it was just made me so sad
- 2:27:46to see the Eagles be so uninventive offensively and then
- 2:27:49lose against a trick play. I blame I.
- 2:27:51Think we need to see it. What a beautiful play.
- 2:27:55Listen, they they beat a couple of all pro defenders on this
- 2:27:58play, right? Quinjan Mitchell and Cooper
- 2:28:00Digena, first team all pros. Here's the play.
- 2:28:03They call this Sky Bang Reverse Pass.
- 2:28:07Let's take a look. CMC looks like a pretty easy
- 2:28:10touchdown. We got to go back and see why.
- 2:28:12So we're going to start off with this formation.
- 2:28:14We're motioning the slot receiver across.
- 2:28:17I would have been pissed off if I was the Eagles because this
- 2:28:20looks like an illegal formation. Notice the tight end, Tungus
- 2:28:23over here. He looks like he's sort of on
- 2:28:25the ball, but not on the ball. And then you have the receiver
- 2:28:28on the line on the outside. So he's supposed to be off the
- 2:28:30ball. He looks even with that tackle.
- 2:28:32I would have said that's an illegal formation.
- 2:28:34Lost my mind on the sideline if I was the Eagles coach on this
- 2:28:37one. Yeah, they didn't argue.
- 2:28:38It sucks to be you, Eagles. Now take a look at what's going
- 2:28:42to happen. So you go back from this.
- 2:28:43We call this a rebound motion. He runs one way and then come
- 2:28:47backs the other way. And this is a traditional jet
- 2:28:50sweep play. This is something they do in
- 2:28:51high school. This is from an old Wing T type
- 2:28:54of an offense, but it's not a regular jet sweep.
- 2:28:56This is Mike Shanahan. They're doing the outside zone
- 2:28:58scheme here. They're pulling the guard to do
- 2:29:01what they call a pin pole block to kick out that edge rusher so
- 2:29:04that guy can't get his hands and mess up this really cool
- 2:29:08exchange that you never see. This is a jet sweep reverse to a
- 2:29:12receiver on an orbit motion which goes behind the running
- 2:29:16back and the running back runs out of the wheel.
- 2:29:18You see right here, Cooper Jean knows he's screwed.
- 2:29:22He did not stay with the running back.
- 2:29:23He bit up on the receiver running the reverse and it's
- 2:29:27over right here. He cannot catch up.
- 2:29:29He was flat footed and he gets a touchdown open by 5 yards and it
- 2:29:34was enough to put them ahead. They got came back, but this
- 2:29:38game, if they don't have this play, Eagles win this game, man.
- 2:29:40And that's why sky bang reverse. Oh wait, I got a couple more
- 2:29:45things. This was run, run three times by
- 2:29:47Shanahan in San Francisco. They used to call it the Debo
- 2:29:51bang reverse pass. They did it with Debo and I
- 2:29:54think they scored a touchdown about 8 to 10 years ago or
- 2:29:57whenever he first got the job when Emmanuel Sanders was there
- 2:30:00and he threw it to routine. Mostert 2019.
- 2:30:03So 7 years ago. They should have known this was
- 2:30:07in the playbook, I think. I think everybody.
- 2:30:10I think everybody was shocked, As a matter of fact, you.
- 2:30:13Should have saw. You should have saw the coaching
- 2:30:15staff on the sideline from the Eagles after they, they, they
- 2:30:19collide, they, they landed the play and CMC got that touchdown,
- 2:30:22I mean. I'm telling you this is a legal
- 2:30:24formation though. This should have been a legal
- 2:30:27formation. That tight end should have been
- 2:30:28more off the ball. I, I, I really would have lost
- 2:30:32my mind as an eagles coach because what that happens, and
- 2:30:34you mentioned that earlier, Errol, when without Kittle,
- 2:30:37they're going to have to do more of those tackle looks out there.
- 2:30:40You call that AI used to call that a tank or an extra tackle
- 2:30:43formation. But if you have a tackle out
- 2:30:45there, you're not bringing the safety down to cover the tackle.
- 2:30:47So it's not the same defense that would go against that if
- 2:30:50Kittle was there. So on this one, because he's
- 2:30:52kind of you can't really tell if he's covered up or not because
- 2:30:55if he's on the line, he can't go out for a pass.
- 2:30:57So you don't need to cover him. So that's kind of playing fair a
- 2:31:01little bit by Shanahan. I think there is no mistake that
- 2:31:04he was like barely behind the tackle in this formation.
- 2:31:08Shanahan's a dirty man. That guy has some great points.
- 2:31:10Hey, listen, it closed and it was sealed and they sealed the
- 2:31:14deal. They knocked off the Eagles and
- 2:31:16I was very upset about, I think a lot of people that I'm not
- 2:31:19even saying Eagle fans, people that were betting people lost a
- 2:31:23lot of money on this. And and and by the way, if you
- 2:31:25bet on the 49ers, you want a lot of money.
- 2:31:27So I mean, because they were not the favorites, so.
- 2:31:30It was just, it was just an unbelievable play if you bet on
- 2:31:33a great job. And it was this play that really
- 2:31:35brought them that victory and it that's why it's vicious play of
- 2:31:39the week. Watch how I eat my string
- 2:31:42cheese. Anyways, there you go, ladies
- 2:31:45and gentlemen, we call this Let's Parlay.
- 2:31:57It's time for Lens, for Lang. All right, ladies and gentlemen,
- 2:32:03we have Worldwide Wes and the one we call Reno in the feed.
- 2:32:09And if you don't know how to play the game, it's very simple.
- 2:32:11If you're a handicap woman or man, you should be listening to
- 2:32:15the you should be listening to the segment because these guys
- 2:32:18give you some of the best winning handicap picks in the
- 2:32:23business. So this is how we're going to
- 2:32:24play. Both Wes and Reno Johnny are
- 2:32:27going to give you their top three picks of the week and then
- 2:32:30they're going to give you their 4th, which is a parlay pick.
- 2:32:34Are you boys ready? Yeah, yeah, I'm ready.
- 2:32:36All right, so we're going to go Reno Johnny first, Worldwide W
- 2:32:412nd. Here we go.
- 2:32:44Whale It was a rough week, let's put it that way.
- 2:32:47We are. We're bouncing back this week.
- 2:32:50My first play of the game of the of the week is actually going to
- 2:32:53be the Chicago Bears on Sunday night or Sunday afternoon
- 2:32:57football. It's quite simple for me, I
- 2:32:59think. I think the weather is going to
- 2:33:01play a factor. There shouldn't be a whole lot
- 2:33:03of precipitation. Looks like 15% chance on snow,
- 2:33:06but it's going to be damn cold. It's going to be 16°.
- 2:33:10They're playing the later game, so it's just going to get a
- 2:33:12little bit colder as they go through the night.
- 2:33:15You're looking at Matt Stafford, who I have a ton of respect for,
- 2:33:18but he played in Texas, went to Georgia and played in domes his
- 2:33:22whole career. This weather is absolutely going
- 2:33:24to be a factor. I do think it's going to it's
- 2:33:26going to translate on the field and I love the fact that the
- 2:33:29Bears are catching points on their home field in a 16° game
- 2:33:36against a team that plays in domes.
- 2:33:39I think it's just going to it's going to be a a game that
- 2:33:42they're just going to be a little bit fatigued come late in
- 2:33:45that game. I think the Bears offense is is
- 2:33:48definitely a a a a an X Factor in this game.
- 2:33:52Gimme Ki. Never thought I'd say this.
- 2:33:53I never thought a million years I would say this.
- 2:33:55Gimme Caleb Boys +4 at home Saturday Night Football.
- 2:34:00All right, Wes, give us your first pick of the week.
- 2:34:03I'm, I'm going to start with a college hoops game and this one
- 2:34:06is, this one's a layup. This is tomorrow night and I'm
- 2:34:10going to, I'm going to lay a point and a half taking Delaware
- 2:34:14over UTEP. UTEP hasn't won a game on the
- 2:34:16road this year and their game, their game is kind of predicated
- 2:34:21on steals taking the ball away. And Delaware's not a team that
- 2:34:25gives the ball away. If you want to shift over to
- 2:34:28line movement, for whatever that's worth, 77% of the tickets
- 2:34:32are on UTEP and the line started at 1 1/2 and it hasn't moved
- 2:34:38with that kind of that, that kind of ticket volume on one
- 2:34:42side, probably a lower volume game.
- 2:34:43That line should move and it's not.
- 2:34:45Vegas is holding strong. I realized Delaware's only won
- 2:34:48five games this year, but I think they're going to win
- 2:34:50tomorrow probably by 7-8. So easy layup of a hoops game.
- 2:34:55You can't get it unless you have an app subscription of some
- 2:34:58sort. But it's college hoops time of
- 2:35:01the year. And I'm, I'm actually having a
- 2:35:02lot of fun betting it and watching it And you know, I've,
- 2:35:05I've catched 5 tickets out of seven today.
- 2:35:08All right, Reno, Johnny, give us your number 2.
- 2:35:11We're sick and in the NFL here. I think it's pretty simple for
- 2:35:14me. I've said it from the beginning,
- 2:35:16I have a preseason ticket on the Bills.
- 2:35:18Got a couple of them. Now I got a parlay piece.
- 2:35:21It's still alive on a preseason future on the Bills.
- 2:35:25They're even money. Give me the Bills.
- 2:35:27I don't care about anything metric wise in this game.
- 2:35:30I'm riding with what I said at the beginning of the year.
- 2:35:33Now that being said, I do think the Bills are the better team
- 2:35:36here in this situation. I understand the Broncos record.
- 2:35:42It looks pretty. It's shiny.
- 2:35:44They haven't been a soul. I think it's a great spot for
- 2:35:48Josh Allen, who has not had the postseason success, but he has a
- 2:35:53shit ton of experience and against guys like Mahomes, guys
- 2:35:58that he loses in the in the playoffs to go on and win the
- 2:36:01Super Bowl. So he's been right there.
- 2:36:03This is Josh Challenger to win it all outside of the NFC, when
- 2:36:07you got, when you have, you know, Matt Staff on the other
- 2:36:09side. There is nobody in these
- 2:36:11playoffs that would rather have than Josh Allen.
- 2:36:14I think they win this game. I think Bo Nicks basically shows
- 2:36:17me a little bit of Auburn Bo Nicks where he's just the moment
- 2:36:20is too big for him. Give me the Bills win this game
- 2:36:24on the road. All right, Wes, give us your
- 2:36:28number two. Well.
- 2:36:32I'm going to go to that game too, and I'm in the opposite of
- 2:36:34everything you said. So I don't really need to talk
- 2:36:36much other than I disagree with everything you had to say there.
- 2:36:40We are still friends, we always will be.
- 2:36:43But I, I just like Denver in this spot.
- 2:36:45I think that that the Bills, their depth at wide receiver is,
- 2:36:49I mean, they have 3 receivers on their roster right now.
- 2:36:52But I, I have been on the winning side of Josh Allen in
- 2:36:56the playoffs for seven years running now.
- 2:36:58Six years running, he he joshes in the playoffs.
- 2:37:03He he shows up big in some of these games, but there's always
- 2:37:06a key play that he joshes and doesn't win And it it's he
- 2:37:11doesn't have enough around him in terms of online in order to
- 2:37:16stop what the Broncos are going to be able to do.
- 2:37:19They have three active wide receivers on the roster and
- 2:37:21you're telling me that Sean Payton coming off a by with, you
- 2:37:25could argue the best defense in the league, but they're at least
- 2:37:27in a group of of top three defenses in the league.
- 2:37:30They won't be able to game plan for three wide receivers and
- 2:37:33only one of them is any good. I, I just, I think Josh Allen is
- 2:37:37going to get really beat up in this game and just cue the
- 2:37:40narrative and, and I hate it because I think that Josh is
- 2:37:43currently the best quarterback in football, but it's looking
- 2:37:48like he's going to have a very Peyton Manning start to his
- 2:37:50playoff career because he's going home.
- 2:37:53You know, I just want to point out that Josh Allen probably
- 2:37:56should have won last year. But when you're playing the refs
- 2:37:58too, doesn't really work out for you, does it?
- 2:38:00That's how they that's how they change the rules.
- 2:38:03I hear you. I'm I'm hearing you.
- 2:38:06But maybe, maybe the refs are against him for a reason.
- 2:38:09Maybe next year's the year with that new stadium.
- 2:38:13All right, Reno, give a shit #3. #3 we're going to stay in the
- 2:38:17NFL and it's going to be a play that I also did not really
- 2:38:21expect or like, but I'm going to lay the points here with the
- 2:38:24Seahawks. I, I think the, the Niners are
- 2:38:27outmatched in this situation. And I understand last week
- 2:38:30actually the public back then the public was actually heavier
- 2:38:33on the Niners. The public actually did really
- 2:38:35well last week. I think they went they lost one
- 2:38:38I think where the public game where they didn't win every
- 2:38:41other every other public play actually cash last week, which
- 2:38:44is probably why I didn't do too well.
- 2:38:46I think it's a good spot for the Seahawks.
- 2:38:48They're at home and the Niners are just banged up and they're
- 2:38:51banged up even more now. They do not have George Kittle
- 2:38:55tears the the Achilles last week.
- 2:38:56Their defense is still banged up.
- 2:38:58They didn't really, you know, I think I think the Eagles kind of
- 2:39:02gave that game away and you know, they had the trick play.
- 2:39:04I get, I just think that the Seahawks and I hate it because
- 2:39:08I, I've been a anti Sam Darnell probably his entire career, even
- 2:39:13more so when he's been on winning teams, because I don't
- 2:39:15think he I think he's really just put him in the system and
- 2:39:17that good enough. I think that they can blow out
- 2:39:20the night. I think they they they've really
- 2:39:22handled the Niners this season. Even games that might have been
- 2:39:24close. They dominated the metrics in
- 2:39:26those games. I think the Seahawks win this
- 2:39:28game by at least a touchdown. All right, Wes, give us your #3.
- 2:39:33You know, I'm going to agree with Johnny there, and this is a
- 2:39:36hard one. This is a very hard one for me
- 2:39:38to go Seahawks and and this is a 7 1/2 point spread.
- 2:39:41Are you guys still seeing 7 and? A.
- 2:39:44Half this is a hard one because if you peel back everything
- 2:39:49going on this week, this is a division matchup and and in
- 2:39:52regular season we, I mean, Johnny, you and I would say set
- 2:39:56anything about 6 in the division, you probably want to
- 2:39:58take the points or walk away. I mean that that's a that's
- 2:40:02that's kind of entry level, you know, handicapper stuff right
- 2:40:05there. But that being said, I agree
- 2:40:07with what Johnny just said about the Eagles.
- 2:40:09The Eagles kind of gave that game away and I don't think it
- 2:40:13was that trick play. I think where the Eagles gave
- 2:40:15the game away is just lack of an offensive plan.
- 2:40:18I think the Eagles defense did what it was supposed to do, but
- 2:40:21you're you're not. Going to keep CMC from from
- 2:40:23doing what he does. I mean, he's going to make an
- 2:40:25impact on the game. You're not going to shut down
- 2:40:28some of those players completely.
- 2:40:29But so I, I think that I think that, you know, Seattle, there
- 2:40:36was a game this year where they were, they had like 40 points on
- 2:40:39the board in the first half. And it was just that they're
- 2:40:42defense. These these no name defensive
- 2:40:45players are just flying around like wild piranha, just taking
- 2:40:49bites out of everything that's going on.
- 2:40:50I think Donald's better quarterback than 30.
- 2:40:53All right, Reno, give us your final pick of the night.
- 2:40:57Final play, I'm going to do this like I've never done it before.
- 2:41:00I'm going to take this as a true parlay piece.
- 2:41:03So whatever W says in his parlay piece, this is what I would
- 2:41:07recommend doing if you're going to do a two team parlay because
- 2:41:10I never do it. So with all that said, I'm going
- 2:41:12to take a money line. I'm going to take a big money
- 2:41:16line. I'm going to take Indiana money
- 2:41:19line. So whatever Wes is going to give
- 2:41:21you, hopefully take that minus 2250 or whatever it is, put it
- 2:41:25in a parlay piece. I've been against Indiana.
- 2:41:29I was against Indiana in in the last game.
- 2:41:31I was against Indiana all year. I, I think I met Ohio Sabres,
- 2:41:34Indiana. I I've really been against that,
- 2:41:37that the system and the coach and and all of it.
- 2:41:40And I, I can't do it because I thought Oregon was the best team
- 2:41:44in the country coming into this into last weekend and they put
- 2:41:48up 56 points. I lost.
- 2:41:51I lost. I lost some money last week.
- 2:41:54Let's not see how there was some coin lost.
- 2:41:57I was eating ramen for a couple days.
- 2:42:00It it was a game that I didn't expect.
- 2:42:01But at the end of the day, I think this offense is much
- 2:42:04better than Miami's. I do not, I still do not back
- 2:42:07Carson Beck. I think they're winning games,
- 2:42:09but it's nothing to do with quarterback.
- 2:42:11They do have a good defense. I think the what's going to win
- 2:42:15this game is discipline. As good as Miami has been, they
- 2:42:19had three penalties on the drive.
- 2:42:20Two of them were were unsportsmanlike and they
- 2:42:23probably should have picked up a third.
- 2:42:25They had multiple false star penalties.
- 2:42:28You just don't get that out of Indiana.
- 2:42:30Their standard is a lot higher in Miami.
- 2:42:34They that's not acceptable. You will you will not see a late
- 2:42:38hit on Indiana in this game. You might see one or two out of
- 2:42:41Miami in big situation. So I I think the discipline of
- 2:42:44this game, Gimme Indiana to win the game personally.
- 2:42:47I'm also going to bet him on the spread and their team total
- 2:42:50because I do think that they're going to run away with this
- 2:42:52game. Whatever, whatever W says,
- 2:42:54parlay the money line with his butt.
- 2:42:56All right, W final pick of the nights.
- 2:42:59Yeah. So in the playoffs, I'm saying
- 2:43:02in the NFL, the only, the only Rd. team that I actually have
- 2:43:06winning is is Houston. And it's outright.
- 2:43:09I don't, I don't think. And when you, when you look at
- 2:43:12these playoff games, you have to kind of peel back.
- 2:43:16You put the number aside for a second.
- 2:43:18But when you look at this game, is there a world where where New
- 2:43:24England went by less than 3? I don't see that world, which
- 2:43:28means I'm going to take, I'm just going to take the three.
- 2:43:31Houston is is not going to just lose by two.
- 2:43:34I mean, that's a weird number. But I don't see CJ having a
- 2:43:38repeat of the kind of game that he had.
- 2:43:41I mean, he had a terrible game. CJ Stroud early in the game.
- 2:43:45And and I mean, I, I believe CJ, I mean, that's my favorite
- 2:43:49Buckeye of all time. But he tried very hard to give
- 2:43:52the Pittsburgh Steelers that game and their defense just
- 2:43:57wasn't going to have it. And I think that that defense up
- 2:44:03against Drake May is going to make him look like a younger
- 2:44:08quarterback in the league, but I don't in New England.
- 2:44:11They're just not deep at receiver.
- 2:44:13They're going to have to run the ball and they they'll have
- 2:44:16success doing that, but nobody really has success doing
- 2:44:20anything against Houston. So they're going to be somewhat
- 2:44:231 dimensional. And I think that when they,
- 2:44:26Houston's going to have to put up some points early, They
- 2:44:28can't, they can't just come out the way that they did.
- 2:44:32But I, I think that Houston's going to outright win this game.
- 2:44:35It is wild that we're going to be possibly looking at Houston,
- 2:44:38Denver in, in a, in a conference championship game or, or Houston
- 2:44:43Buffalo even. I mean it's just, it's crazy,
- 2:44:46but I, I like them to win outright.
- 2:44:48I don't. The Texas would be the home
- 2:44:51team. Figure that out.
- 2:44:53Well, boys, I love your picks and you both, Well, I'm sure
- 2:44:58you're both not picking the Patriots, and I love you even
- 2:45:00more for that. Anyways, Wes Reno, we love you.
- 2:45:04We'll see you next week. Yeah.
- 2:45:07See you next week. Yeah, I'll be on that Texas
- 2:45:09money line as well. And bear down and bear down, big
- 2:45:13time. Whore bag.
- 2:45:15Oh, gosh, pour bag. All right, there you go.
- 2:45:19Ladies and gentlemen, let's parlay Wes and Reno Johnny
- 2:45:22giving you their picks of the week.
- 2:45:24All right, when we come back, we got call your shot.
- 2:45:27We got some baseball and we're going to finish up with what's
- 2:45:31that smell? But let's go to our sports man
- 2:45:34with the fish. This is the Jabba and the Mouth
- 2:45:39Sportsman ads. All right guys, Aaron Fishman
- 2:45:43here with your second sportsman of the evening.
- 2:45:45Got a couple of stories for you before we get into the scores.
- 2:45:48Lane Kiffin has had quite a handful of weeks, starting with
- 2:45:52his much criticized decision to leave Ole Miss for LSU as Ole
- 2:45:56Miss was in the College Football Playoff.
- 2:45:58Pretty lucrative for him because he earned $500,000 for their two
- 2:46:01wins. They were able to get to the
- 2:46:03national semi finals without him, but he did allow his
- 2:46:05offensive coordinator Charlie Weis junior to stay coaching the
- 2:46:08Rebels while also working at LSU.
- 2:46:11Kiffin does have a problem now at his new school.
- 2:46:14He needs a quarterback, Garrett Nussmeyer graduating and his two
- 2:46:18backups transferring Van Buren in the South floor.
- 2:46:20And the other one is, well, leaving.
- 2:46:22Well, Kiffin struck it big no surprise here on Monday, landing
- 2:46:26the number 2 ranked quarterback in the transfer portal, Sam
- 2:46:29Levitt from Arizona State. Levitt, who was hurt for much of
- 2:46:33the 2025 season, LED Arizona State to the College Football
- 2:46:36Playoff in 2024 when he had Cam Scataboo as his running back and
- 2:46:41he was the Big 12 Offensive Freshman of the Year.
- 2:46:44Now as a red shirt sophomore, Levitt brings a strong pedigree
- 2:46:48to the SEC and will join a Tigers squad that will have 9
- 2:46:52new wide receivers via transfer, including Winston Watkins from
- 2:46:55Ole Miss, Jace Brown from Kansas State and Eugene Wilson, the
- 2:46:59third from Florida. Former Alabama quarterback and
- 2:47:03current Carolina Panthers QB Bryce Young is being rewarded
- 2:47:07for taking his team to the playoffs this season, with the
- 2:47:09organization picking up Young's fifth year option.
- 2:47:12This move buys Panthers GM Dan Morgan some time to evaluate
- 2:47:16whether or not to give Young, who's been up and down in his
- 2:47:18NFL career, a contract extension or to move on to a signal caller
- 2:47:23for what Morgan is calling a big picture view of the franchise's
- 2:47:27future. Bryce did a great job this year
- 2:47:29and I'm really just excited about moving forward and still
- 2:47:32developing chemistry with our receivers and just the pieces
- 2:47:34around him and then really having that translate into
- 2:47:37Sunday or Saturday. I just felt like he had a lot
- 2:47:40more command out there this year and in reality, just kind of
- 2:47:43coming into his own and getting better every week, just
- 2:47:46attacking every day. That's really all you can ask
- 2:47:48for from any player. Unfortunately, the Panthers
- 2:47:51needed just a little more from Young as it fell into a they
- 2:47:54fell to the Rams and a thriller, giving up the game-winning
- 2:47:56touchdown the last minute after Young led his own team down the
- 2:47:59field to take the lead on a clutch touchdown pass to Jaylen
- 2:48:02Coker. Young will look to keep
- 2:48:04improving under head coach Dave Canales in 2026 and hopefully
- 2:48:07get that extension. If not, one of the best
- 2:48:10quarterback classes in years could be the cure for the
- 2:48:12Panthers in their big picture view at least as we are
- 2:48:16streaming live on TikTok, Instagram and YouTube on our

- 2:48:40Jabba and the Mouth. Any questions?
- 2:48:49This is the Jabba and the Mouth show.
- 2:48:54Who wants to get the ass? Well, it's definitely not me,
- 2:48:57ladies and gentlemen. Maybe I do.

- 2:49:06to call. You're listening to Jabba and
- 2:49:10the Mouth. I guess you guys know who I am.
- 2:49:13My name is Errol Marks. They call me the mouth.
- 2:49:15Their Jabba's having problems right now with electric.
- 2:49:18Hopefully soon he'll pop right in.
- 2:49:21But I got the speedster. Speedy Petey, Remember, you can

- 2:49:48Yeah, the return of the onesie for like the first time since
- 2:49:50like the first month you started.
- 2:49:51What is that Curious George over there, Jabba?
- 2:49:54We got, we got a monkey action going on right now, Yeah.
- 2:49:57Well, I wish I had some other monkey action, if you know what
- 2:49:59I mean. Where's Brittany?
- 2:50:02Oh well, she's actually packing. We're after the show.
- 2:50:05I am actually going to be traveling all the way to
- 2:50:08Montreal. I'll be driving the 6 1/2 hours.
- 2:50:11I'll be taking the ride all the way up while she's having her
- 2:50:15beauty sleeve, while I'll be driving all the way up there to
- 2:50:19Montreal, but. Anyway, What Car are you taking?
- 2:50:21Hers or yours? No, we rented.
- 2:50:23We rented a car. Are you rented a car?
- 2:50:25That's right. We're not going to beat up any
- 2:50:26our cars. We're just going to rent a car.
- 2:50:28We got a, I think we got a Subaru, a big one, one of those
- 2:50:32big like 7 seaters. So yeah.
- 2:50:35So you're going like, right after the show, like driving the
- 2:50:38red eye? Yeah, probably.
- 2:50:39You're wild. I'm a wild.
- 2:50:41Person, man, I'm a wild. Person, but Yep, that's that's
- 2:50:45what I'm doing. I'm driving the red eye.
- 2:50:47Anyways, we called. It I just I just ordered wing
- 2:50:50stop so. I might stop to wing stop before
- 2:50:53I get on the road. Anyways, we call.
- 2:50:56Just call you shot. I'm not an X's and O's guy.
- 2:50:59Right. I'm not a tactician.
- 2:51:00I'm a motivator in the classic sense of the word.
- 2:51:03You know Lombardi, Charles Lindbergh, that nun over in
- 2:51:05India, like those people? Call your shot a big boobs.
- 2:51:10Like a swan. Sod is a bitch, all right?
- 2:51:12Welcome to Call Your Shot. This is our segment.
- 2:51:15We do this every so often where we're going to make some
- 2:51:18predictions just out of the blue and we're going to lay them
- 2:51:23down. I hope not a few of them are
- 2:51:26going to be absolutely right. Errol, who do you want to go
- 2:51:28first? I'm going to say the old
- 2:51:31speedster to go first. All right, so Fish, you've
- 2:51:33hinted at it the last couple of shows where we've talked about
- 2:51:36some hockey, the New York Rangers.
- 2:51:38You've asked him if Errol and myself if they should be sellers
- 2:51:41or not. Again, I don't think they're
- 2:51:42going to be drastic sellers. I do agree with Errol on that.
- 2:51:44But there is one guy I do think it seems like inevitable that's
- 2:51:47going to be traded at this point and that is our Tammy Panera in
- 2:51:49the sea. The teams are not seeing eye to
- 2:51:51eye with his contract situation. He's had a 50 point season so
- 2:51:54probably still a good time to sell it and there's five teams
- 2:51:57interested in there's no trade clause and there's team that
- 2:52:00loves to go through contact negotiations and get last second
- 2:52:03trades that are always big. The Lightning were the best with
- 2:52:05the cap, no manipulation in the beginning, but that team is now
- 2:52:08the Vegas Golden Knights and I think that is where he will be
- 2:52:11traded to. So the Rangers will trade our
- 2:52:13Timmy Panera into Vegas. They'll find a way to loop,
- 2:52:15manipulate the cap again, and Vegas will win the Western
- 2:52:18Conference. With that dauber in the dirt.
- 2:52:20Asia never cut his hair. He's he's never the same, but
- 2:52:23that's a whole other story. You want me to go next?
- 2:52:26Yes, I want you to go next. All right, so I've got a real
- 2:52:30easy prediction. I predict Carson Beck's going to
- 2:52:33throw 3 interceptions in the National Championship Game one.
- 2:52:37Wait. I think he is such a fraud.
- 2:52:40I can't wait for a real defense to make him to expose him.
- 2:52:44Please exceptions. Finish I well, because I think
- 2:52:47what's going to happen is they're going to get desperate
- 2:52:50and because I think he's going to fall behind on a bad pick in
- 2:52:53the beginning of the game. And I think Mendoza is going to
- 2:52:55be lights out. I I, I see it being a 30 point
- 2:52:58game, like just like the last two of them and the coronation
- 2:53:02of one of the greatest teams college football has ever seen,
- 2:53:06especially definitely in the playoff era.
- 2:53:09So that's my shot. Sometimes I sit on it.
- 2:53:13All right, Chopper. You know what, I'm I'm going to
- 2:53:16switch gears too. And I'm it's going to be a
- 2:53:19Nebraska reference and it's going to be we have won 21 games
- 2:53:25in a row. We are one of the last five team
- 2:53:27standings undefeated in the top 10.
- 2:53:30But we are the only school in a Power 5 to never win a game in
- 2:53:33March Madness. Nebraska is going to win a game
- 2:53:40in March Madness, and I'm calling it this year.
- 2:53:42I had to take a shit and I'm excited about it.
- 2:53:46I love it near and near in my heart because Braden Frager grew
- 2:53:51up with my son, played basketball, but they have never
- 2:53:54won a game in the tournament. And they've had T Lou, they've
- 2:53:58had Jeron Boone, Eric Strickland, they've had some
- 2:54:01decent dudes, Eric Pykowski, guys that have spent time in the
- 2:54:06NBA. We've never won a game in March.
- 2:54:08Match, baby, we go win the game. I'll let you lick my butt.
- 2:54:13All right, if that. Happens Catherine is leaking my
- 2:54:16butt. There you go, I definitely want
- 2:54:18to watch that. I don't think she'll allow it
- 2:54:21anyways. 100% she will. She's a gamer.
- 2:54:27All right, my final call, your shot goes to the New York Mets.
- 2:54:32And I think Met fans are going to be very, very happy in 24 to
- 2:54:3548 hours. There's going to be announcement
- 2:54:39Kyle Tucker is going to sign with the New York Mets, 50
- 2:54:45million a year, five years with an opt out.
- 2:54:48Book it. He will be a New York Met.
- 2:54:51For all you Met fans that are just absolutely disappointed
- 2:54:55this offseason, I and you should be.
- 2:54:58They're going to land Kyle Tucker.
- 2:54:59They're going to do whatever it takes to get them and they're
- 2:55:01going to give them an opt out clause.
- 2:55:03Book it 24 to 48 hours before the weekend.
- 2:55:07You're going to hear that Kyle Tucker is signing with the New
- 2:55:09York Mets. And there you go, ladies and
- 2:55:11gentlemen. Speaking of New York Mets, we're
- 2:55:14going to go into inside baseball.
- 2:55:17Now let's go deep, deep inside. What I am excited.
- 2:55:21This is inside baseball. Well, let's start right there,
- 2:55:25Errol. You had mentioned it.
- 2:55:27Let's get into it. The Mets have offered, We talked
- 2:55:32about it a couple of times tonight because this is the big
- 2:55:34news, in my opinion. This is the big news in baseball
- 2:55:36right now. He's been the top guy on the
- 2:55:38market all offseason. Problematic if he plays the same
- 2:55:43position as Juan Soto. But they do need outfielders,
- 2:55:46$50 million annual average value of the contract doesn't mean
- 2:55:52that it's going to be 50 a year. Might might be higher in the
- 2:55:55beginning, lower at the end, or who knows if they're going to
- 2:55:57front load or back load or they're going to let him do the
- 2:56:00Alex Bregman thing where they'll let him opt out after one year
- 2:56:04and it's really a one year, $50 million contract.
- 2:56:08If they do that. I'm not as excited about this
- 2:56:12deal. But if they can lock them in
- 2:56:14without the opt out being after year one, I think it's a pretty
- 2:56:18good move regardless for the Mets, even if it's a like $100
- 2:56:23million in two outfield positions.
- 2:56:25What do you think guys? I think it's a great deal for
- 2:56:28the New York Mets. I don't know if it's going to be
- 2:56:30one year. I think it's going to be two
- 2:56:31years. That's what I've been hearing,
- 2:56:33that he can opt out after his second year.
- 2:56:36So they're going to have him for at least two years and they're
- 2:56:39going to be going for that World Series.
- 2:56:41And I expect if they land Kyle Tucker to make a big trade at
- 2:56:44the trade deadline, obviously Tarek's Google will be available
- 2:56:48next year. He's going to be a free agent.
- 2:56:51So I could see the Mets, if they, if they're one piece away
- 2:56:54or one pitcher away from possibly fighting for a World
- 2:56:57Series, I could see them doing it.
- 2:56:59I, I think I, I think this is a great deal for the Mets.
- 2:57:02If it's two years, if they, if he gives them two years on an
- 2:57:06opt out clause, I think it's slam dunk for the Mets and they
- 2:57:09can win. They could absolutely be a World
- 2:57:10Series contender this year. Yeah, $50 million a year for a
- 2:57:14guy that's durable enough is fine with me.
- 2:57:16Again, we're curious on the length of the contract.
- 2:57:18They were talking about Laura before, like it's going to be
- 2:57:20pushing that five year standard if they're going to be an opt
- 2:57:23out, yeah, I'd say two or three years is probably the likely
- 2:57:26there's an opt out in the contract.
- 2:57:27But again, for a player that's pretty durable, I know again, he
- 2:57:30had the bad second-half, but he wasn't playing.
- 2:57:32He wasn't playing 100% healthy. Again, the Mets, they're trying
- 2:57:35to build the Super lineup. We'll see if they can get the
- 2:57:37pitching after that. Yeah, I mean, it's it's a great
- 2:57:40deal for him if he can get it. The opt out will be very
- 2:57:44interesting and see how they structure the deal.
- 2:57:46I think is is kind of going to be the caveat of if this deal
- 2:57:50does get done, I just don't think they have enough pitching.
- 2:57:56And yeah, they struggled with McClain, right?
- 2:57:59But I just don't think they have enough pitching with a super
- 2:58:04lineup. I mean, you're still going to
- 2:58:06have to stop guys from scoring and I, I don't know if they have
- 2:58:12enough on the front end and the back end in that lineup for him.
- 2:58:16I think it's great. I think, you know, obviously
- 2:58:20with Bregman kind of setting the market with what he's not a $50
- 2:58:25million player to me, he's not durable.
- 2:58:28I agree with that with what Speedy said, durable.
- 2:58:32Obviously he got a little injured this year, but I he's
- 2:58:35not a 50. He's not a game.
- 2:58:37He doesn't scare me. He's not Aaron Judge.
- 2:58:41Obviously, Aaron took a discount to be what he is, but he's not
- 2:58:46an Aaron Judge. Kyle Tucker does not scare me.
- 2:58:50Like, if Kyle Tucker beats me, I'm OK.
- 2:58:54You don't let Aaron Judge beat you.
- 2:58:57And Kyle Tucker for me isn't that dude.
- 2:59:00He is an unbelievable player, but he's not a $50 million
- 2:59:05player to me. We'll see. 3030 good defense,
- 2:59:08though, you know, you take that every single time.
- 2:59:10High batting average, still young.
- 2:59:13We'll see what happens. Part of me thinks the Blue Jays
- 2:59:16are going to get them though. Man, I, I feel like they're just
- 2:59:18loading up. They, they smell it and they
- 2:59:20want it, but we'll see. Let's keep going on.
- 2:59:23Fish like Kyle Tucker's not a name that comes in like when you
- 2:59:27think of baseball, Tucker's not a name that comes to your head
- 2:59:30for 50 million a. Year.
- 2:59:31You know who he reminds me of? He reminds me of George
- 2:59:34Springer, that's who. He reminds me of you know what's
- 2:59:37interesting you say that he reminds me of someone that you
- 2:59:40hate. Not that he plays like him, but
- 2:59:42his numbers and the impact he has on the game is similar.
- 2:59:45It's your boy Jazz, jazzy boy, similar 3030 guy.
- 2:59:49He's got he got a lot of pop. He plays good D, you know, like
- 2:59:54you want those guys that's on your team.
- 2:59:56Maybe less theatrics than Jazz, you know as well.
- 3:00:00Well, yeah, but I think that's too to like Kyle Tucker's game.
- 3:00:04Like there, there's not many of those.
- 3:00:06Like Jazz relies on that too. And but Kyle Tucker, he'll lay
- 3:00:11under the radar. You ain't laying under the radar
- 3:00:13when you're making 50 mil. Now you put, you put, you put a
- 3:00:17bullet on your back and everybody wants to hit it.
- 3:00:21Yep, everyone's gearing up for you, trying to beat you and let
- 3:00:23everybody know. I just struck out a $50 million
- 3:00:26a year guy and. Prove him wrong.
- 3:00:27Even though he's collecting the paycheck every two weeks, he's
- 3:00:30so he don't. Care.
- 3:00:31Well, Speaking of this new market being said, Errol, the
- 3:00:35Yankees and Cody Bellinger have been at an impasse the last few
- 3:00:39days at least it's been reported over the years in the contract,
- 3:00:42Cody Bellinger and of course Scott Boris wants the longer
- 3:00:45contract, the seven-year contract.
- 3:00:47The Yankees are only willing to go 5.
- 3:00:49The Yankees and Bellinger's camp continue to talk this week, John
- 3:00:54Heyman of The Post wrote on X. The Yankees are trying to bridge
- 3:00:57the gap in years by enhancing their latest offer, which
- 3:01:00there's five years by including an opt out, a nice signing bonus
- 3:01:04and no deferred money. Parties have possible options,
- 3:01:08but effort being made to stay together.
- 3:01:12I personally would have liked them to go after Tucker.
- 3:01:14That was a fluke hand injury, got hit by a pitch and played
- 3:01:16through it for a number of weeks.
- 3:01:18He should have sat out and he would have been fine.
- 3:01:21Bellinger a little older. Numbers have never been as good
- 3:01:24except for his two. His MVP year is when he was
- 3:01:27first came into the league. It's not that guy anymore.
- 3:01:30Obviously does a lot for you with his versatility on defense
- 3:01:34and plays good defense wherever he goes.
- 3:01:37I don't think you want him playing center field, but this
- 3:01:40is a guy that, you know, good baseball teams have guys like
- 3:01:44this on their team and hopefully the Yankees can add him and it's
- 3:01:48not one of these one year out dash.
- 3:01:49The longer there is a wait, the better chances they have to
- 3:01:54sink. I do believe Bellinger will be a
- 3:01:57Yankee. I don't think he's going
- 3:01:58anywhere else else. I I don't see anybody offering
- 3:02:01him more than what the Yankees are going to offer him.
- 3:02:03I think the Yankees will probably add a year main job,
- 3:02:06but we're talking about it. I could see them five years to 6
- 3:02:10with an opportunity to opt out after three or 4I.
- 3:02:13I could see the Yankees doing that.
- 3:02:15He doesn't want to go anywhere else.
- 3:02:16He wants to be a Yankee. His father was a Yankee.
- 3:02:20He grew up a Yankee fan. He said it many, many times.
- 3:02:23This was the place that he wanted to finish his career and
- 3:02:26I expect him to do so. I, I and I, he has a great
- 3:02:29relationship with a lot of the guys on this team, including
- 3:02:33Aaron Boone, who raves about him.
- 3:02:35I don't think he's going anywhere.
- 3:02:37And like I said, the longer it the IT the longer the weeks go
- 3:02:41before pitchers and catchers, the better chances the Yankees
- 3:02:45have to sign Cody Bellinger. And by the way, I think Cody
- 3:02:48Bellinger is a better all around player than Kyle Tucker because
- 3:02:53he can play multiple positions. He's a better defender in my
- 3:02:56eyes than a guy like Kyle Tucker.
- 3:02:59And I think Jabba says it best. He won an MVP.
- 3:03:03Kyle Tucker has never won an MVP.
- 3:03:05So until he does that, I still think Cody Bellinger is a better
- 3:03:10player. Yeah, he's one of the. 3
- 3:03:12Bellingers won. He's been on a winning team.
- 3:03:16Yeah, I think the main competition was the Mets, but
- 3:03:18now the Mets are all in on Tucker.
- 3:03:19It seems like that the Yankees have all the leeway in the world
- 3:03:22to do that because again, there was really no other direct
- 3:03:24competition to threaten a a high payroll team like the Yankees.
- 3:03:27Like you say, I already tell Simebrenner's comments and all
- 3:03:29that, but there's still a high payroll team so.
- 3:03:31And they're going to get him on the cheat.
- 3:03:33They're going to get him on the value.
- 3:03:34I think that Brian Cashman was kind of targeting last month
- 3:03:36when we talked about it with Charlie Slows and I think that's
- 3:03:39why those comments were made and maybe they look smarter than
- 3:03:42that. You hit it right on the head is
- 3:03:44the longer it gets towards pitchers and catchers.
- 3:03:48I think it's it's a better value for Bellinger.
- 3:03:53And it's kind of what we talked about with Laura earlier is just
- 3:03:58like knowing New York, playing in New York and understand like
- 3:04:01he he handled it well. And I've, I've always said this,
- 3:04:05I've said this from jump street. His defense is very undervalued
- 3:04:10and he can give you so many different.
- 3:04:13What if Ben Rice doesn't work at first base?
- 3:04:15You got an option in Cody Bellinger and you're not going
- 3:04:19to have to pay 50 million a year.
- 3:04:21Where we've talked about before is that year, mom.
- 3:04:26That's the thing that I think he wants.
- 3:04:29But if he gets the opt out with, I would say two to three years.
- 3:04:36If he gets two to three with with an option and a no trade,
- 3:04:41because that's definitely going to be in there at that point at
- 3:04:43his age that I think I think it can work.
- 3:04:46But I think the longer it gets drawn out, I think it's a better
- 3:04:52likelihood of him going back to the Yankees and and with what he
- 3:04:57can provide for the team and what he's already done.
- 3:05:02It's a great fit. And Kyle Tucker was obviously
- 3:05:05the name, but I would take Cody Bellinger over Kyle Tucker any
- 3:05:10day of the week. All right, let's move on.
- 3:05:13We got more and this is my favorite thing Cashman's done in
- 3:05:16a long time. This is a under the radar trade
- 3:05:19that happened yesterday. The Yankees added pitcher Ryan
- 3:05:23Weathers. Now Weathers was with the
- 3:05:25Marlins and he was traded for four.
- 3:05:28I guess low a ball type guys are very low prospects.
- 3:05:33I guess it's a dump by the the Marlins who are always doing
- 3:05:35moves like this. Ryan Weathers is the son of
- 3:05:39David Weathers, who was a World Series champion back in the day
- 3:05:43with the Yankees. And that's so much fun.
- 3:05:46He is a very crafty lefty who has a good fastball.
- 3:05:50He can't stay healthy is the reason why he got him for such,
- 3:05:53so cheap. But for me, you don't need
- 3:05:56another lefty in this rotation. Why don't we go see if we can't
- 3:06:00recreate Andrew Miller? Why if we can't see if we can
- 3:06:03get that guy that can come in for two innings, whatever you
- 3:06:06need twice, 3 to 3 1/2 times a week, you know, three times a
- 3:06:11week and just make it so that nobody can ever get anything on
- 3:06:16you. I just think this is a brilliant
- 3:06:18move. I don't I think they'll try him
- 3:06:20in the rotation as Rodon, you know, kind of and Cole come back
- 3:06:23to full strength. Rodon had some offseason work
- 3:06:25done. This guy, I think long term
- 3:06:28role, is that like super reliever?
- 3:06:31Their game plan, their game plan of bringing him in was not to be
- 3:06:36in the rotation to put him in the ball pan.
- 3:06:39It's been something that Brian Cashman has done year in and
- 3:06:42year out. He finds these starting pitchers
- 3:06:44that he could put in the bullpen and he could put them in that
- 3:06:47mix of players that helps them be one of the better rotations
- 3:06:52in the bullpen in baseball. The problem is with the Yankees
- 3:06:55is the second-half of the season he they burn them out, hopefully
- 3:07:00by bringing in some of these pitchers and some of these
- 3:07:02younger pitchers and bringing some of these pitchers up, maybe
- 3:07:06moving Warren to the bullpen. And I think that's something the
- 3:07:09Yankees should think about doing because I think Warren could be
- 3:07:11a good closer. I think he's got the stuff to be
- 3:07:14a closer. I think the Yankees need to
- 3:07:16figure out who is going to be in the bullpen and who's going to
- 3:07:19be in the. Rotation, we have a closer, now
- 3:07:21we have Bedmar. Yes, but I don't know what the
- 3:07:24Yankees, these guys are up and they're down.
- 3:07:26I don't know what these guys are going to be.
- 3:07:28Betnar is he's been good since he's come to the Yankees.
- 3:07:31And then we've seen these guys the first year they're good and
- 3:07:34then the second year they're they get extended and they're
- 3:07:36horrible. So I'm, I'm thinking what Brian
- 3:07:39Cashman is trying to do is bring in guys that he thinks that
- 3:07:43could be a closer or fit in as you know, part of that bullpen
- 3:07:48where they can mix and maneuver as the season moves forward.
- 3:07:52So I, I think it makes a lot of sense why they did this, but I,
- 3:07:55I do not believe they think what Ryan Weather is going to be in
- 3:07:59the rotations. I think they believe he's going
- 3:08:02to be a part of their lefties in the bullpen.
- 3:08:04Yeah, spot starter on occasion, I guess, and versatile bullpen.
- 3:08:08I always liked him when he was with the Padres and they used
- 3:08:10him in that kind of role. When guys went down, they always
- 3:08:12had a lot of veteran pitchers that got hurt and, and again, he
- 3:08:15could transition to the bullpen. Doesn't have to be in a big
- 3:08:17role. You're not going to force him to
- 3:08:18close like you guys were saying. But again, you could probably do
- 3:08:21other impactful relief pitching if needed.
- 3:08:23Works an opener if needed. I think there's a good a lot of
- 3:08:25good with this. Move.
- 3:08:26He's got stuff to be a closer, he does.
- 3:08:29Well, in I think what this move does, it gives them options and
- 3:08:36it's kind of what I was touching on with Cody because now you you
- 3:08:41have a guy that can do multiple things.
- 3:08:44And I think that's kind of the way Cash is kind of trying to
- 3:08:48manipulate this offseason is bringing in a guy like this.
- 3:08:53You get him a cheat because obviously he hasn't been able to
- 3:08:55stay on the field, but he's shown signs of being able to be
- 3:09:00very, very quality and he can do it in multiple facets of the
- 3:09:04game. And so I think obviously you're
- 3:09:08going to fill some gaps early, but then he's able to do that in
- 3:09:14every way. And then when you get everybody
- 3:09:16back, as Cash always says at the deadline or something, hey, it's
- 3:09:20like getting a guy back healthy is like getting a free agent.
- 3:09:24And now you're going to have a guy like Weathers that, you
- 3:09:27know, can spot start, can do that, can can come get those 23
- 3:09:31innings and get lefties out. So I think I love this move.
- 3:09:36I love this move for the Chief and what it is.
- 3:09:39And I think it just gives them a different opportunity to be able
- 3:09:45to use him in different spots because he's done all of it.
- 3:09:48All right, this one is not cheap.
- 3:09:52I'm on the cheap here because the Red Sox today gave a five
- 3:09:57year, $130 million deal. Former Phillies pitcher Ranger
- 3:10:03Suarez. Yes, that Ranger Suarez, who
- 3:10:06throws about 91 miles an hour but has six different pitches,
- 3:10:09mixes them up and has lowered his ERA in the last few seasons
- 3:10:13in the National League. 325 over the last five seasons and he
- 3:10:18mixes it up. His WAR has gone up every year.
- 3:10:21He had a four WAR this past year.
- 3:10:23He was my sleeper that I had in fantasy.
- 3:10:26He strikes out a little bit less than one an inning despite the
- 3:10:28lack of velocity. Because he has such a good pitch
- 3:10:30mix, he will slot in as the number 3 starter behind Crochet
- 3:10:35and recently acquired Sonny Gray, probably ahead of Bray
- 3:10:39Ambello and I guess Oviedo from Pittsburgh would be their 5th
- 3:10:43starter right now. I like Ranger Suarez, I do, and
- 3:10:46he was an All Star last year or. He was a snub, yeah.
- 3:10:49He was a snub, but he should have been.
- 3:10:51He should have been. Yeah, but he should have been an
- 3:10:52All Star and and that's why I said that he was an All Star
- 3:10:55last year. I thought he was sensational the
- 3:10:58last two seasons and he was a big part of the Philadelphia
- 3:11:01Phillies making the playoffs, especially making any kind of
- 3:11:05run that they did at the at tail end of the season.
- 3:11:07He was a part of that. I think giving him $130 million,
- 3:11:12that's actually cheap for a starting pitcher and he's really
- 3:11:15a number two guy. I think Sonny Gray's going to be
- 3:11:17a number 3. Sonny Gray is not going to last
- 3:11:20that long over there in Fenway. They're going to burn a hole in
- 3:11:22him after he pitches his worst one game or two games that he
- 3:11:27looks really, really bad over there.
- 3:11:28They're going to kill him. I think Suarez, he's been in
- 3:11:31that situation before. I think he's more of a #2 and
- 3:11:34for a #2 pitcher, 5, five years, $130 million, it's a steal.
- 3:11:39I love the move. Yeah.
- 3:11:40I think it's somebody that's going to age well because like
- 3:11:42you're saying, Fish, maybe he doesn't have the raw velocity
- 3:11:44right now, but sometimes we see pitchers can rely later on on
- 3:11:48just pitch sequencing and he's smart enough to do that.
- 3:11:50And I think because of that, I think that will allow him to be
- 3:11:54a good mentor for a lot of these younger pitchers.
- 3:11:56You mentioned Bello, they've had a lot of guys, they've had a lot
- 3:11:58of others like Hoc that have not been healthy, but and they've
- 3:12:01still been good when they've been on the field.
- 3:12:03And I think that's somebody that can weather the storm, doesn't
- 3:12:06pitch a ton of innings, but is pretty durable throughout his
- 3:12:09career and I think will age very well five years.
- 3:12:11I think it's it's a great sign. And also I think you guys didn't
- 3:12:15take into credit what he has done in the playoffs is a career
- 3:12:191.4 in the playoffs. And I think that's part of what
- 3:12:24they look at when you go to what he's done.
- 3:12:27And yeah, and he's 30 years old, but I think it's a great deal
- 3:12:33too, because as you said, like being able to teach some of
- 3:12:36these young kids. But then when you get to the
- 3:12:38postseason and being able to have somebody that has the nuts
- 3:12:43and knows he can do it in the postseason, which he has done, I
- 3:12:48think is it, it's a, it's a great sign.
- 3:12:51And I, I, they, they definitely got him on the cheek, I, I
- 3:12:54believe. I'm going to throw a little
- 3:12:56water on this before we move on. I I've every time I do like
- 3:13:00fantasy baseball things. If I have a guy that's dropped
- 3:13:04in velocity each of the past two years, eventually there's a
- 3:13:08tipping point where it drops too much and he just gets shelled
- 3:13:11all the time. If he falls below 90, I don't
- 3:13:15think he could be as anywhere near as effective.
- 3:13:18And the fact that he keeps falling off, I would not want to
- 3:13:20give that kind of contract to a guy who's dropping velocity.
- 3:13:24But you know, maybe obviously super talented he was.
- 3:13:28Actually career 3/3 though and he's but are you paying for?
- 3:13:32Before Or are you paying for what's going to happen going
- 3:13:34forwards Because he wasn't 93. Well, that's what you're paying
- 3:13:37two years ago. You're paying for it before.
- 3:13:39That's how baseball. Is well, But you know what
- 3:13:41though? That's how you screw up though.
- 3:13:42That's how you screw up a baseball.
- 3:13:44Sometimes, hey, listen, if the Red Sox win a World Series,
- 3:13:48which Suarez one year out of the five short winners, they're
- 3:13:52winners. So sure, listen, he's a good
- 3:13:55player. I just would be a little.
- 3:13:56That's the one devil's advocate thing.
- 3:13:58Like sometimes the velocity drops too much.
- 3:14:01Let's move on to a guy who's a little long in the tooth job.
- 3:14:04But you know this guy very well. We wanted him to be traded to
- 3:14:07the Yankees last season. Nolan Arenado was just traded
- 3:14:11the other day to the Arizona Diamondbacks.
- 3:14:14So the D backs acquired Nolan Arenado to trade with Saint
- 3:14:18Louis Tuesday, concluding the Cardinals like 18 month journey
- 3:14:23to try to move him as they're rebuilding.
- 3:14:25So the Cardinals received pitching prospect Jack Martinez
- 3:14:29and sent 31 million to the Diamondbacks to help cover the
- 3:14:3342,000,000 remaining on Aaron's contract.
- 3:14:36So the Diamondbacks only have to pay him 11,000,000 over the next
- 3:14:39two seasons. He waived his no trade clause to
- 3:14:41do so. He struggled last year, hitting
- 3:14:44237289-ON base 377, slugging 12 homers.
- 3:14:49Defense has slipped a little bit.
- 3:14:50Still very good. Love it out there, love it.
- 3:14:52Young team needs leadership. This guy is going to provide
- 3:14:56that and that's you can't buy leadership.
- 3:14:59I don't care how much they gave up or whatever they whatever you
- 3:15:05think that they gave up for a guy like Nolan Arenado, you're
- 3:15:09bringing in a guy that knows most leadership understands the
- 3:15:12game of baseball. You got a young team that was in
- 3:15:14a World Series a couple of years ago.
- 3:15:16They need that that that personality in that, that
- 3:15:19dugout. They need that personality
- 3:15:21behind the scenes. I think Nolan Arenado gives him
- 3:15:24that and he's a likable person as far as what we know.
- 3:15:27I know Jabba knows him. A lot of people that we've
- 3:15:29spoken to Speedy in the past, it says has said Nolan Arenado is a
- 3:15:33great leader and a great person on and off the field.
- 3:15:36It's a slam dunk for the Diamondbacks.
- 3:15:37It's also a young team that played really well after they
- 3:15:40treated a lot of their veterans last year.
- 3:15:41They traded Suarez, which obviously Arenado will be the
- 3:15:43direct replacement for now, and then Naylor, who signed back in
- 3:15:46Seattle, and Merrill Kelly. And the Diamondbacks were right
- 3:15:49with the Mets and the Reds and all those other teams fighting
- 3:15:51for that last playoff spot after they sold everything.
- 3:15:54So it's a you're accumulating A-Team that's like that.
- 3:15:57And the Cardinals, when Arenado got traded over, they were kind
- 3:15:59of like that. They were either just the first
- 3:16:01team out or just the first team in a lot of those years.
- 3:16:03And the Diamondbacks are kind of in that same trajectory.
- 3:16:05Yeah, no, I, I think it's, I think it's huge.
- 3:16:07I I love Nolan. Nolan is one of the nicest
- 3:16:10people in the planet and is a phenomenal player and Yazzy
- 3:16:14probably on the back end of his career, but he he still can give
- 3:16:17you a lot of things that you can't quantify.
- 3:16:22And I think with that young team and they've been close.
- 3:16:26They have young talent, they they have bits and pieces of it.
- 3:16:30And I think he's kind of gone through it and just the
- 3:16:33leadership that he's going to bring in, just the way he
- 3:16:36carries himself and how he goes about his business.
- 3:16:40This is a great move for them. He was he wanted to get out of
- 3:16:46the Cardinals just because they weren't doing anything.
- 3:16:50And so I think this is this is a huge move for them.
- 3:16:53All right, we got one story left.
- 3:16:55And this one, I honestly only picked this one for you.
- 3:16:58Jabba and Errol, I don't know if you're going to care about this,
- 3:17:01but the Royals decided that they're moving in the fences at
- 3:17:04Kauffman Stadium about 10 feet. So the Royals are going to keep
- 3:17:09the center field at 410, but they're tapering.
- 3:17:12They're tapering in the fences, starting in the power alleys
- 3:17:15where it goes from 389 to 379. And it's going to continue on
- 3:17:18that path about 9 to 10 feet shorter all the way to the
- 3:17:21corners. But they're going to keep the
- 3:17:22foul poles at 3:00. 30 You're going to lower this.
- 3:17:25One second, I'll tell you why I'm going to get the quote for
- 3:17:27you. The height of the fence is also
- 3:17:29being shortened from 10 feet to 8 1/2.
- 3:17:33We want a neutral ballpark where if you hit the ball well, it
- 3:17:36should be a home run. Royals general manager JJ
- 3:17:39Piccolo said. The second they start feeling
- 3:17:41like they can't get the ball out of the ballpark, they start
- 3:17:44changing their swing. I watched it for years and years
- 3:17:47and years, and I just felt like this is the time to try to push
- 3:17:50it and see if everything we felt for however many years is
- 3:17:53accurate. Speedy remember to be
- 3:17:55fascinating. Speedy's a He's a Met fan.
- 3:17:58Remember what happened in Citi Field?
- 3:18:01Remember that with the Wilpons and what they were saying and
- 3:18:05why they move, move the fences in.
- 3:18:09This sounds just like that. Absolutely just like Citi Field.
- 3:18:14When the when Citi Field was built and a lot of people, a lot
- 3:18:18of players and the Wilpons were complaining about how how deep
- 3:18:23the field was and if that's why there's no home runs and that's
- 3:18:26why we have to bring the field. We got to bring the fences in.
- 3:18:29This sounds just like that. Orioles did the same thing.
- 3:18:32The Orioles did the same thing which definitely didn't help
- 3:18:36their offense last year and Kansas City I guess is in dire
- 3:18:39need of offense is how bad their team OPS was bottom 5 in
- 3:18:43baseball last year combined with that with all their pitching.
- 3:18:45And well, why are you doing it now when you're you just signed
- 3:18:48a deal to move the stadium? It's a good question.
- 3:18:51I guess they're maybe. They're trying to test out that
- 3:18:53way of thinking. I don't know.
- 3:18:55It doesn't make sense. None of it does.
- 3:18:57As a pitcher, though, Jabba, like, doesn't this piss you off
- 3:19:00a little bit? Like I would be upset.
- 3:19:03I I loved pitching there like you, you have, you have fields
- 3:19:07in that are pitchers, ballparks and it just, they've done
- 3:19:14everything to hurt the pitcher in the game of baseball.
- 3:19:18They shortened field, they lowered the mound.
- 3:19:21What have they done for hitters? They've made everything better.
- 3:19:27And so for us on that side of the fence, literally and
- 3:19:30figuratively, it sucks because now we don't have the Bob Gibson
- 3:19:3615 inch mound that we can get downhill and create velocity.
- 3:19:42Now it's shorter. Now you're bringing fences in,
- 3:19:44you're lowering walls. Well, I get you want the game to
- 3:19:48be sexier. Understand it, but it sucks for
- 3:19:52us as pitchers because you're like well damn, you're just
- 3:19:54making it easier for them because if they miss hit
- 3:19:56something they can kind of get it out.
- 3:19:59I think the Royal pitching should be worried about their
- 3:20:01training staff at this point. You had three key.
- 3:20:03Guys, I mean, that's a whole nother topic, yeah.
- 3:20:08Maybe we'll cover that topic next time.
- 3:20:11Inside Baseball. I will say this when this story,
- 3:20:15when you mention this story reminds me of the Mets and the
- 3:20:17Wilpons and, and just the complaining at the end of the
- 3:20:22first season, Citi Field was was was built and, and all the
- 3:20:26players there was how many home runs hit in Citi Field.
- 3:20:29I don't think the Mets had a guy that hit over 30 home runs that
- 3:20:32year. No.
- 3:20:32And there was so many complaints, so many complaints
- 3:20:35that they got to bring in the fences.
- 3:20:37The fans were complaining and then the Wilpons complaining to
- 3:20:41the league that they got to bring in the fences and how the
- 3:20:44league was going back and forth with the Wilpons about bringing
- 3:20:47in the fences. So that's what it reminds me of.
- 3:20:50Anyways. Ladies and gentlemen, a final
- 3:20:53segment of the night. What's that smell?
- 3:20:55Hold up, what is that smell? What's right smell?
- 3:21:03Wow, you don't see that everyday.
- 3:21:06This makes my pecker hard. All right, ladies and gentlemen,
- 3:21:09the final segment of the night, it's been a long 1 and I get a
- 3:21:13chance to drive to Montreal for almost 7 hours.
- 3:21:15So yay, ladies and gentlemen. All right, so this is how we're
- 3:21:20going to do it. We're going to go.
- 3:21:22We're going to go fish. We're going to go.
- 3:21:26Let's bring Nathan. You want you want Nathan to do
- 3:21:28this. Let's get Nathan.
- 3:21:30There's no way Nathan has. What's that smell?
- 3:21:33Do you have a What's that smell? I have anything.
- 3:21:35All right, just just describe what, what, what that smells
- 3:21:38like right now. What smells like shit?
- 3:21:42I'm putting. You on a leash now?
- 3:21:43Breaking news A lot of hot ladies.
- 3:21:45Breaking news. Do you want the jerking off?
- 3:21:48All right, So what we're. Gonna do is I'll get I'll get
- 3:21:50something for you guys for the next What's you smell?
- 3:21:53I gotta go. You do that.
- 3:21:54No, that's what he's gonna do. He's gonna go whack off now.
- 3:21:58Hey, Speedy's mom. All right, All right, ladies and
- 3:22:03gentlemen, this is how we're going to do it.
- 3:22:04We're going to go poops. We're going to go fish.
- 3:22:07Speedy me here. We.
- 3:22:09Go busy all day today. Lick it and stick it I.
- 3:22:13Like that one? That's a good one.
- 3:22:14Lick it and stick it. All right, so I'm going to be
- 3:22:15talking. About Glory pole.
- 3:22:17Something we somewhat covered the other day on the show on
- 3:22:20Monday, but we talked about Trey Young going over to Washington.
- 3:22:25He had his introduction already and everybody remembers that on
- 3:22:28his introduction. He talked about how we praised
- 3:22:30them, how he thinks that teams overlooked.
- 3:22:33He thinks that he has a great he's feeling real good about his
- 3:22:37new fresh start he has over there.
- 3:22:39And now is today that it was announced that he's going to be
- 3:22:41out all of the All Star break. He's going to be pretty much
- 3:22:44coming back towards the end of February.
- 3:22:46So hey, Trey Young's Trey Young start over in Washington's
- 3:22:49already stopped pretty good. Me and Fish were talking about
- 3:22:52it before the show actually started.
- 3:22:54As a Knicks fan, we're not too. We're not.
- 3:22:56We don't have too many, too much skin off our back here.
- 3:22:59If anything, hey, let the guy come back.
- 3:23:01Let him be an amazing player. Yep, Fish.
- 3:23:03Isn't losing tears because. Let him come back, do his thing,
- 3:23:06do whatever he has to do. He's just going to be the reason
- 3:23:09as the Knicks get a great. I love Reese and.
- 3:23:12Great first round pick next year.
- 3:23:14So what is that smell like the whole ordeal with?
- 3:23:17Trey Lulu. And his whole being out and
- 3:23:20whatnot a well. Suck my indo.
- 3:23:22You got to be honest, it smells, according to the ChatGPT, the
- 3:23:25smelliest thing in watch. Roba.
- 3:23:27The Potomac Roba, especially in the summer, which is very it
- 3:23:32smells like hot, humid of the river, smell like rotting algae,
- 3:23:36sewage and swamp. Water high ran view.
- 3:23:39Especially near the low tide areas.
- 3:23:41Thumb up my ass. And the riverbanks.
- 3:23:43And it might smell like Nathan's thumb up his ass.
- 3:23:46So. The move, this one smell.
- 3:23:48Like so? There we go.
- 3:23:51That's an interesting one, right?
- 3:23:52There, I knew the rope up. I couldn't believe this story
- 3:23:55when I read it earlier today. So everyone knows a few.
- 3:23:59What was it in this about a month ago?
- 3:24:01Actually, NASCAR, long time NASCAR driver Greg Biffle and
- 3:24:07his family died in a car in a plane crash, right?
- 3:24:11And this is, you know, just one of the worst things that we can
- 3:24:15hear about. Well, let's add something not
- 3:24:18worse, but some insult to injury.
- 3:24:20Apparently the Biffle residence, which has been secured for the
- 3:24:24past couple of weeks since they died, was burglarized and
- 3:24:27robbed. Guns and 30,000 in cash were
- 3:24:30stolen as well as a backpack from the place.
- 3:24:34They just cracked the safe and took it out because they're dead
- 3:24:37and not going to be using the estate.
- 3:24:40No arrests have been made and no one else was at home at the time
- 3:24:43of the crimes. We're working the case.
- 3:24:46We're are waiting on some digital evidence, the police
- 3:24:48said. Well, I, I mean, there's low and
- 3:24:52then there's lower than low. And what's lower than low?
- 3:24:55That's hell. And I looked up what hell would
- 3:24:57smell like on AI and it says hell.
- 3:24:59And this smells like hell. And this smells like burning
- 3:25:02flesh, sulfur, death, decay, and putrid toxic fumes stemming from
- 3:25:09biblical references to fire and brimstone as well as mystical
- 3:25:14accounts of demonic encounters. Very specific.
- 3:25:20Very specific. That's AI for you all.
- 3:25:24Right, So I'll transition to, I don't know if you Java, I don't
- 3:25:26know if you saw these all these memes about the colleges that
- 3:25:30don't have state income tax. It started with UCF and I guess
- 3:25:34they're using it as a recruiting tactic.
- 3:25:36And a lot of the other schools that are in Texas, Mississippi,
- 3:25:38I know Houston did it, North Texas did it.
- 3:25:40They all have these memes and all these like exemplifying
- 3:25:43things with the mascots, like they were branding one of the
- 3:25:45players or something like that just because they, this is their
- 3:25:47state. Politicians have no income tax.
- 3:25:49By the way, Stanford had a funny counter to it too, because
- 3:25:52obviously they're in California. They have a state income tax.
- 3:25:54Like maybe you should be more educated and alert about tax or
- 3:25:56something like that. That was one of their pitches,
- 3:25:58but the meme may be a little overblown at this point.
- 3:26:01Kind of exemplary. Be a little more creative for
- 3:26:04all these other schools. It was fun while it lasted.
- 3:26:06So what does it smell like? Well, there's two things we know
- 3:26:08about in Orlando, one of which is Nick Goody, the other one of
- 3:26:11which is Disney. So it.
- 3:26:13Smells like a duel between Nick Goody's Aliens versus Stinky.
- 3:26:18A bunch of Stinky Pete. 'S I love Lisanne the.
- 3:26:22Toy Story, huh? Jabba, you have a What's that
- 3:26:26smell? 100% And that was a nice segue,
- 3:26:30even though you didn't know. I'm going to go on the theory.
- 3:26:34Get off my desk of the EMS causing all of the San Francisco
- 3:26:4249ers injuries. Oh, I saw this.
- 3:26:46Yeah. And how they think because their
- 3:26:49practice facility, the electrical substantion near it
- 3:26:54is causing them to be hurt more than any other team in
- 3:26:58professional. Like specific tissue injuries.
- 3:27:00Too, Yes. And it's to Achilles and knees.
- 3:27:04And so it's a theory it they kind of debunked it.
- 3:27:08They haven't. But it smells like there's some
- 3:27:12legitimacy to this because we've seen it and we've seen their
- 3:27:18players succumb to it, so Goody may be on to something, you
- 3:27:24know? You mean ChatGPT?
- 3:27:28Well. That that too.
- 3:27:30Yeah. Goody goody, goody Jack.
- 3:27:33Chat goody. PT AI GPT.
- 3:27:36Chat Goody PT. Yeah.
- 3:27:40Right my final what's that Speaking of San Francisco big
- 3:27:43story one day after his 21 day practice window was open San
- 3:27:49Francisco 49ers linebacker Fred Warner made it clear Wednesday
- 3:27:55that he hasn't ruled out his return at after fraction is
- 3:28:00dislocated right ankle. He could play actually Saturday.
- 3:28:04He has made the announcement today that he believes that
- 3:28:08there's a possibility he might make an appearance in Saturday's
- 3:28:12game against the Seattle Seahawks.
- 3:28:14If that happens, this might be a completely different game.
- 3:28:17It might not be 100% Fred Warner, but even if you get a
- 3:28:2170% Fred Warner, you're getting an important piece to your
- 3:28:24defense and a beast of a man in the middle.
- 3:28:27So what does that smell like? It smells like Seattle Seahawks
- 3:28:32dump. If he's going to be sniffing it,
- 3:28:35I won't be sniffing anybody's dump.
- 3:28:37But maybe the Seattle Seahawks will be sniffing, you know, Mr.
- 3:28:40Fred Warner's dump after he walks out on the field on
- 3:28:44Saturday and surprise and shocks everybody.
- 3:28:47Because. Speaking of walking, you know
- 3:28:49Cooper Flag just walked to the locker room.
- 3:28:51Yeah, so did. So did Jalen Brunson.
- 3:28:54So it doesn't look good. We'll see what happens.
- 3:28:57I don't know. They're saying they're saying
- 3:28:59it's a leg injury, but we'll see.
- 3:29:01It's probably. Definitely looked like Twisted
- 3:29:03something. In the lower leg, probably an
- 3:29:05ankle. It's an outrest of the game's
- 3:29:08ankle. Yeah, left ankle strain for the
- 3:29:10flag, Yeah. It seems like it's always his
- 3:29:12ankle, so he's always had bad ankles.
- 3:29:15Even when he came from Dallas. That was a big problem over
- 3:29:17there. So hopefully and it the Knicks
- 3:29:20don't rush him back if it's a high ankle sprain, keep him out,
- 3:29:23let him rest. They're fine at the point guard
- 3:29:26position right now with the players that they have on their
- 3:29:29roster. So that's just my opinion.
- 3:29:31All right, thank you to Laura for joining us.
- 3:29:35She was fantastic as always, all the guests that we have, Laura

- 3:30:07back on the winning ways for them because I know they, I know
- 3:30:10Wes, he'll probably jump off a bridge if he doesn't.
