- 0:05Speaker 1: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the right time. A wave original.
- 0:09Speaker 1: My name is Beaumont Jones. Thanks for listening wherever you
- 0:11Speaker 1: get your podcast. Thanks for watching us on YouTube. Subscribe, like,
- 0:15Speaker 1: rate us, review us, give us five stars. You only
- 0:17Speaker 1: give us four stars. I'm inclined to believe you are
- 0:20Speaker 1: a hater. And it is that time of week where
- 0:23Speaker 1: we have a guest join us. Check him out on
- 0:25Speaker 1: Ring of Tailgate. Check him out on Higher Learning. I
- 0:29Speaker 1: mean this when I say that. I believe that Van
- 0:31Speaker 1: Lathan right now is the most versatile talker that we
- 0:34Speaker 1: have really just about anywhere.
- 0:38Speaker 2: Oh man, I appreciate that, bro. Versatility is very, very
- 0:41Speaker 2: important to me.
- 0:42Speaker 3: That's, you know, and, I guess I'm versatile, but it's
- 0:44Speaker 3: also just a ton of shit to talk about right now.
- 0:47Speaker 4: No, there are, but you also can.
- 0:48Speaker 1: Because, I mean, I admit that part of this is
- 0:51Speaker 1: you can talk about all those things that I want
- 0:53Speaker 1: to hear you talk about, and you are really good
- 0:56Speaker 1: at talking about all kind of dumb shit that I
- 0:57Speaker 1: don't really care about, and then movies, which are not
- 1:00Speaker 1: dumb shit, but not necessarily my space. Like, I feel
- 1:03Speaker 1: like we could drop you off at a bar, and
- 1:06Speaker 1: whatever they on, you could go get on it.
- 1:09Speaker 2: Well, that's kind of what podcasting is.
- 1:11Speaker 3: It's trying to, like, make friends and meet people at
- 1:14Speaker 3: a specific wavelength and ride that wavelength till you have
- 1:20Speaker 3: an audience and a community that you've built.
- 1:22Speaker 2: So I take a lot of pride in that.
- 1:23Speaker 4: But to me- But not everybody can talk on all
- 1:26Speaker 4: the podcasts.
- 1:27Speaker 3: No, I get it.
- 1:28Speaker 1: Like, I feel like at the Ringer, you ever hear
- 1:29Speaker 1: Jimmy Jam tell that story about going to school with Prince? No.
- 1:33Speaker 1: And like every instrument he tried to get on, it's like, damn,
- 1:36Speaker 1: Prince is on that one too. Like there's somebody at
- 1:38Speaker 1: the Ringer that's like, yo, I got this.
- 1:39Speaker 4: And then they pull up and it's like, don't.
- 1:41Speaker 5: He in here too.
- 1:43Speaker 3: Well, I think to be real with you, at the ringer,
- 1:47Speaker 3: and this is what we're finding out with our mutual friend,
- 1:50Speaker 3: at the ringer, it's probably more of those Swiss Army
- 1:52Speaker 3: Knives than at least has been, at least I've worked
- 1:56Speaker 3: with before. At the ringer, if you a one-trick pony there,
- 2:02Speaker 3: that one trick got to be fantastic.
- 2:05Speaker 4: You and Bill getting together, I was like, oh, this
- 2:07Speaker 4: will work. This is a strong pairing.
- 2:12Speaker 2: He knew it too.
- 2:13Speaker 3: I was kind of trying to feel my way around.
- 2:15Speaker 3: But you know what? It was a really good situation
- 2:18Speaker 3: in the beginning. The first podcast I did at The
- 2:21Speaker 3: Ringer was Way Down in a Hole, which you heavily influenced,
- 2:25Speaker 3: by the way. Heavily, heavily influenced Way Down in a Hole.
- 2:28Speaker 3: Because the whole, now you've completely changed the internet. When
- 2:33Speaker 3: we first started that, you don't actually talk about this
- 2:37Speaker 3: that much. When we first started that podcast, the idea
- 2:40Speaker 3: that Stringer Bell was a fuckboy, which Jamel got into,
- 2:46Speaker 3: was kind of novel. I want you to go into
- 2:49Speaker 3: wire lore now, though. There are legitimate YouTube videos. How
- 2:53Speaker 3: dumb is Stringer? The top 10 dumbest things that Stringer did.
- 2:57Speaker 6: Yes.
- 2:58Speaker 3: I think it was me, because I would fight Jamel
- 3:01Speaker 3: about this. I'd tell Jamel, like, you changed your age.
- 3:02Speaker 2: She goes, no, I didn't. She's like, that actually comes
- 3:04Speaker 2: from Bomani. And so, for me... It was hard for
- 3:08Speaker 2: me to see at first because.
- 3:10Speaker 3: Boy, when you grow up in the neighborhood, you want
- 3:13Speaker 3: to believe that the smarty art nigga is.
- 3:16Speaker 2: The smarty art nigga.
- 3:17Speaker 3: You want to believe it so bad. The dude that
- 3:21Speaker 3: come along and go, hey man, you heard about chemtrails?
- 3:24Speaker 2: You like, oh shit, break it down. You know what
- 3:26Speaker 2: I'm saying?
- 3:27Speaker 3: And then it turns out that Stringer, even though he
- 3:29Speaker 3: did make a lot of moves that were, I guess
- 3:32Speaker 3: you could say were smart moves, he.
- 3:34Speaker 2: He could see different things and stuff like that. There
- 3:35Speaker 2: are certain things. He told D'Angelo, he said, hey, hold
- 3:39Speaker 2: their pay.
- 3:40Speaker 3: And the first people that don't buck up are the
- 3:43Speaker 3: people that's probably snitching. He had some stuff. But most
- 3:46Speaker 3: of the big things, total whiff, I couldn't see it.
- 3:49Speaker 3: That's how I started at the ringer way down in
- 3:51Speaker 3: the hole. And that kind of got me comfortable. And
- 3:53Speaker 3: ever since then, it's kind of been smooth sailing.
- 3:55Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 3:55Speaker 2: I ain't gonna lie.
- 3:56Speaker 1: I don't like, it sounds terrible when I say this,
- 3:58Speaker 1: but I feel like I have had like a couple
- 4:00Speaker 1: moments of legitimate cultural influence and I don't really talk
- 4:03Speaker 1: about it that much.
- 4:04Speaker 4: And I probably need to, cause it get forgotten. Cause
- 4:07Speaker 4: I do agree.
- 4:08Speaker 1: People was on a whole different kick about Stranger until
- 4:10Speaker 1: I brought them this year truth. And that truth, that
- 4:13Speaker 1: truth was before them and people saw.
- 4:15Speaker 3: The other thing.
- 4:16Speaker 1: The other thing is, I got y'all to stop saying
- 4:19Speaker 1: that one dude's name out loud. You remember old boy, he, uh,
- 4:22Speaker 1: he got a son right now.
- 4:24Speaker 2: I got it.
- 4:25Speaker 4: I got it.
- 4:26Speaker 1: I got everybody to understand that that ain't a, that
- 4:29Speaker 1: ain't going to be what we do.
- 4:30Speaker 3: Nah, that was, that was me and you. That was
- 4:33Speaker 3: after I had had him on a podcast and then
- 4:37Speaker 3: me and you talked and that was more of like a,
- 4:41Speaker 3: like a personal thing. And so that, that, me and
- 4:44Speaker 3: you talk, even when I see what's going on now,
- 4:46Speaker 3: I'm like, ah, somebody didn't get the memo.
- 4:47Speaker 2: It is.
- 4:48Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 4:48Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 4:49Speaker 1: Hey man, you know, Hey, look at, it ain't for
- 4:51Speaker 1: me to, it ain't for me to be the one
- 4:52Speaker 1: to tell you right now. Now we had a plan
- 4:55Speaker 1: to just kind of talk about a few things with Van,
- 4:56Speaker 1: but one just dawned on me. I generally stay out
- 4:59Speaker 1: of this one, but I, I can't help it because
- 5:01Speaker 1: I'm talking to you. And I really think that you're
- 5:04Speaker 1: one of the few people. I think that we can
- 5:05Speaker 1: actually have an interesting conversation about this. That is not
- 5:08Speaker 1: just messy. Um, when are Stephen A and Whitlock, Just
- 5:13Speaker 1: going to scrap it out.
- 5:16Speaker 3: Shit.
- 5:18Speaker 2: It seems like to me that that's what Stephen A wants.
- 5:22Speaker 1: And for those who don't know, by the way, Whitlock
- 5:25Speaker 1: went on Cam Newton's podcast, which, whoo, he said a
- 5:30Speaker 1: bunch of wild shit over there.
- 5:33Speaker 2: I didn't see it.
- 5:34Speaker 4: Oh, man, I just saw clips.
- 5:36Speaker 1: The big one was, the one clip I saw that
- 5:39Speaker 1: let me know, okay, like, we're in something else. And Cam,
- 5:44Speaker 1: who does Stephen A's show, I would not have booked
- 5:48Speaker 1: that interview myself. And it seems very clear to me
- 5:50Speaker 1: that Stephen A thinks that Cam should not have booked
- 5:52Speaker 1: that interview, but whatever. But they would talk about that
- 5:55Speaker 1: time that people saw Stephen A playing solitaire at the
- 5:59Speaker 1: basketball game. And Whitlock said, Just say that you're gay
- 6:03Speaker 1: and you don't like basketball.
- 6:05Speaker 3: Wow.
- 6:06Speaker 1: Both of those are like, is it just because it
- 6:08Speaker 1: was Solitaire? I will admit, that's kind of like playing
- 6:11Speaker 1: Pinochle or Gin Rummy.
- 6:13Speaker 4: Or like all the games in the world.
- 6:15Speaker 1: I remember Solitaire was the game we had to play
- 6:18Speaker 1: on devices, right?
- 6:18Speaker 2: It came with the joint. Yeah, yeah.
- 6:20Speaker 4: Now he's playing it.
- 6:21Speaker 6: All right.
- 6:22Speaker 4: I saw this clip of Stephen A. And Stephen A.
- 6:25Speaker 1: Said he started a GoFundMe for, and I quote, fat
- 6:29Speaker 1: bastard lock because Stephen A. ain't heard nothing about we
- 6:32Speaker 1: ain't supposed to talk about fat people like that.
- 6:34Speaker 4: And then said, do you need some money, bro?
- 6:36Speaker 1: Reach in his pocket, pull out his wallet and threw
- 6:40Speaker 1: bills on the floor.
- 6:42Speaker 4: And I assure you they were not fives.
- 6:44Speaker 3: Nah, nah. Let me tell you what I learned about
- 6:46Speaker 3: Stephen A. and his retort in this entire deal. So,
- 6:50Speaker 3: I don't know how much I've ever learned about basketball
- 6:53Speaker 3: watching First Take or learned about football, learned about none
- 6:55Speaker 3: of that stuff. ESPN got a lot of great shows
- 6:58Speaker 3: where you go on the show and you learn a
- 7:00Speaker 3: shit ton about what they talking about. I think ESPN's
- 7:02Speaker 3: football coverage is the best in the business, right? And
- 7:05Speaker 3: their basketball coverage too in different places. First Take is
- 7:07Speaker 3: not about that. First Take is an entertainment show where
- 7:10Speaker 3: the personalities really drive the reason that you watch it.
- 7:13Speaker 3: That's the reason why you watch it. You're not going
- 7:15Speaker 3: to go there and learn what a RAM screen is.
- 7:18Speaker 3: or learn about different actions, or all of that, points
- 7:21Speaker 3: per possession, all of that stuff, you're not going to
- 7:23Speaker 3: learn that on first tape. But you are going to
- 7:25Speaker 3: see really inciting basketball and football and sports culture discussions.
- 7:33Speaker 3: I think in the response to Whitlock, I finally learned
- 7:37Speaker 3: why Stephen A. is a one-of-one when it comes to that.
- 7:41Speaker 3: Forget about the rhetorical nutrition of what was in there.
- 7:46Speaker 3: Because there's really nothing that he can say about Jason
- 7:48Speaker 3: Whitlock that we don't already know, right?
- 7:51Speaker 2: He's not going to expose.
- 7:52Speaker 3: Anything about Jason Whitlock that we never heard before or
- 7:55Speaker 3: give us any new ideas about him.
- 7:56Speaker 2: That's not going to happen.
- 7:57Speaker 3: But what he can do is like paint a picture.
- 8:00Speaker 3: And when you do that, you almost got to be
- 8:02Speaker 3: like a writer director. The suit that he was wearing,
- 8:05Speaker 3: that might be the best Stephen A. Smith has ever
- 8:06Speaker 3: looked in a suit. The suit was cold.
- 8:08Speaker 2: The suit was shiny.
- 8:10Speaker 3: And so when he got around the table to sit
- 8:13Speaker 3: on the suit, to sit on the table to show
- 8:16Speaker 3: the suit off, he's going, yo, look at me. Look
- 8:20Speaker 3: how crazy fly I look. Look at my studio. Look
- 8:24Speaker 3: at my life. I'm not asking you guys to get
- 8:27Speaker 3: with me or be on my side because Jason Whitlock
- 8:33Speaker 3: isn't as smart as me or Jason Whitlock isn't as
- 8:37Speaker 3: erudite as.
- 8:38Speaker 2: Me or whatever.
- 8:39Speaker 3: I'm telling you, who would you want to be? That
- 8:44Speaker 3: was the thing. He's looking in the camera. He's not going,
- 8:46Speaker 3: you know, I'm not saying none of this. He might
- 8:48Speaker 3: be a fraud and all of that stuff. But look,
- 8:50Speaker 3: who would you want to be? In this situation, like
- 8:54Speaker 3: Max Kellerman says about scoring a boxing round, you could
- 8:57Speaker 3: easily score the round by just saying, which guy would
- 9:00Speaker 3: you rather be?
- 9:01Speaker 2: And that's what Stephen A. did. And that's easy to understand.
- 9:04Speaker 2: You don't have to translate that.
- 9:06Speaker 3: Like, I watched it and I was like, oh, this
- 9:09Speaker 3: is his attempt to sun him in a profound way.
- 9:13Speaker 3: And last thing I'll say is, a lot of these
- 9:16Speaker 3: media beefs, and they are getting to be just... It's
- 9:21Speaker 3: absolutely just almost, it's an unfathomable amount of media beefs.
- 9:28Speaker 3: I just can't, like, I can't gauge how many, you
- 9:32Speaker 3: guys don't even understand. The ones that even don't come
- 9:34Speaker 3: to the light where we all on text trying to
- 9:36Speaker 3: stop people from going at each other. It's just like
- 9:38Speaker 3: a completely different time in media that we're in right now.
- 9:40Speaker 3: This one is different though. This one is different. This
- 9:43Speaker 3: one is like, I'm not ruling out a TMZ headline
- 9:48Speaker 3: three months from now, they saw each other somewhere and
- 9:50Speaker 3: Stephen A put hands on them. They really don't like
- 9:54Speaker 3: each other in a visceral way. And it comes across
- 9:58Speaker 3: Stephen A with a scowl he's like he it's all
- 10:01Speaker 3: it's totally different it's totally but whoa it's totally different
- 10:05Speaker 3: bro it's totally different it's weird I don't know that I've.
- 10:08Speaker 1: Seen one like this like I go back I go
- 10:12Speaker 1: back with Whitlock I haven't talked to Whitlock in a
- 10:13Speaker 1: very long time but I go back a long way
- 10:15Speaker 1: with Whitlock that's your man huh At a time he
- 10:17Speaker 1: was like, I tell people this all the time.
- 10:20Speaker 4: Whitlock put me on in ways that nobody else did.
- 10:25Speaker 5: Right.
- 10:25Speaker 4: Like there's a.
- 10:27Speaker 1: I don't talk about Whitlock that much in public because
- 10:31Speaker 1: I was cool with him at a time where he
- 10:35Speaker 1: did some fucked up things to other people.
- 10:37Speaker 4: And I didn't say much about it because I was cool.
- 10:39Speaker 2: Isn't that a bad situation to be in?
- 10:40Speaker 4: Right, because I was cool with him at the time, right?
- 10:42Speaker 1: Yeah. But if I didn't say that he was fucking
- 10:46Speaker 1: up then, I am not the appropriate narrator to say
- 10:50Speaker 1: he's fucking up now.
- 10:51Speaker 4: You understand what I'm saying?
- 10:52Speaker 2: I get it.
- 10:53Speaker 4: Like, that would, I don't know, that doesn't sit right
- 10:56Speaker 4: with me.
- 10:56Speaker 1: And, like I said, there are a lot of people
- 10:59Speaker 1: in this game that I know, I don't get on
- 11:01Speaker 1: with Dan, if.
- 11:02Speaker 4: Not for Whitlock, in all likelihood. Like, that's a big
- 11:04Speaker 4: part of it.
- 11:05Speaker 1: Somewhere along the way, that all changed, right?
- 11:07Speaker 4: But I'm not going to say.
- 11:09Speaker 1: The things that are bad to say about Whitlock, people
- 11:13Speaker 1: don't need me to say them.
- 11:14Speaker 4: They're self-evident, right? Like, I don't want to have an
- 11:16Speaker 4: observation necessarily.
- 11:18Speaker 1: But I bring all that up to say I know
- 11:22Speaker 1: why Stephen A does not fuck with him. Like, I
- 11:26Speaker 1: specifically understand what... I know when it really went, right?
- 11:33Speaker 3: And.
- 11:33Speaker 1: I don't blame Stephen A for how he feels. I
- 11:37Speaker 1: don't really understand what it is on Whitlock's end that
- 11:40Speaker 1: he has such a problem with Stephen A Smith on.
- 11:43Speaker 4: Right.
- 11:43Speaker 1: Like on that other side, I don't get it. I
- 11:45Speaker 1: get where Stephen A comes from. We see what it
- 11:48Speaker 1: looks like with Stephen A is TV man or like
- 11:51Speaker 1: TV charged up about some topic.
- 11:53Speaker 4: Or whatever it is that he's going to say. Like,
- 11:55Speaker 4: for example.
- 11:56Speaker 1: Stephen A does not like LeBron James. He's honest about
- 12:00Speaker 1: the fact that he doesn't like LeBron James. I think
- 12:01Speaker 1: he gets a bad rap for like how much he
- 12:03Speaker 1: talks about it because he keeps going on. He won't
- 12:05Speaker 1: turn an interview down. So he goes and does interviews
- 12:07Speaker 1: with people who only go talk to him once in life.
- 12:09Speaker 1: And they're like, oh, ask him about LeBron James. And
- 12:11Speaker 1: he'll answer every question.
- 12:13Speaker 6: Right.
- 12:13Speaker 1: So it seems like he always talks about him. My
- 12:15Speaker 1: point is simply this. He don't sound nearly as mad
- 12:19Speaker 1: talking about LeBron James as he sounds when he talks
- 12:22Speaker 1: about Whitlock. And we know he can't stand LeBron. He
- 12:27Speaker 1: hates Whitlock.
- 12:28Speaker 4: Hates him.
- 12:30Speaker 1: What gets me about it, and I think you hit
- 12:32Speaker 1: it earlier when you talked about media beefs, is I
- 12:35Speaker 1: don't know what somebody would have to say about me
- 12:38Speaker 1: in this business for me to make content out of it.
- 12:41Speaker 1: I feel like there's a level at which we are
- 12:44Speaker 1: all above this, but people love it. If you go
- 12:47Speaker 1: look at the numbers on all that stuff, people eat
- 12:50Speaker 1: this stuff up when we get.
- 12:51Speaker 2: To arguing with each other.
- 12:54Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 12:54Speaker 3: I mean, that's in anything, right? It's like I deer
- 13:02Speaker 3: hunted my entire childhood, right? My whole childhood, I deer hunted.
- 13:09Speaker 3: And there's something that you do to call deer deer.
- 13:12Speaker 3: And you take two horns and you rattle them. You
- 13:14Speaker 3: rattle the deer to you. There's all kinds of different
- 13:15Speaker 3: things you can do to call deer. Deer calls. You
- 13:19Speaker 3: wear the deer spray. Sometimes we would take a little
- 13:21Speaker 3: deer piss and put it on us. Okay? During a rut,
- 13:24Speaker 3: you put deer piss on yourself. During a rut, the
- 13:27Speaker 3: deer comes to you. But one thing you do is.
- 13:29Speaker 2: You rattle the deer. Take two rattles and you rattle.
- 13:32Speaker 3: And the reason why that calls deer is because the
- 13:34Speaker 3: other deer think that two deer are fighting.
- 13:35Speaker 1: Okay?
- 13:37Speaker 2: The other deer think that two deer are fighting.
- 13:40Speaker 4: They got to come see it.
- 13:41Speaker 3: What's going on? What's happening? You rattle them up and
- 13:45Speaker 3: they think that two deers are locking horns. This is
- 13:47Speaker 3: something that's territorial during the rut. They're fighting for a doe,
- 13:50Speaker 3: the whole nine, whatever. So you rattle and a deer
- 13:54Speaker 3: come by. I asked my dad, I'm like, dad, why
- 13:57Speaker 3: would that make two deer come? He's like, well, shit,
- 13:59Speaker 3: everybody wants to stop and watch a fight. We get
- 14:01Speaker 3: them over there, they stop and watch the fight. Boom!
- 14:03Speaker 3: We hit them with the goddamn 30-06. But what I'm
- 14:09Speaker 3: saying is that I understand. I'm not pure in this.
- 14:12Speaker 3: I worked at TMZ for nearly a decade. So for me, personally,
- 14:16Speaker 3: the calculus is always for me right now, at this
- 14:20Speaker 3: point in my career, just a back and forth, it
- 14:23Speaker 3: has to be about more than just personality. It has
- 14:27Speaker 3: to be about, it has to be nutritious for me.
- 14:29Speaker 3: If there's like something that I've said or something that
- 14:31Speaker 3: I've done or something that someone else has said or
- 14:33Speaker 3: done that I can then sort of pull back on
- 14:38Speaker 3: and expose the analysis in a way that is more meaningful,
- 14:42Speaker 3: I'll do it. But the people that I don't like
- 14:44Speaker 3: in this industry or I don't like jive with or
- 14:47Speaker 3: get along with, I really try to ignore them and
- 14:50Speaker 3: stay out of their way because I'm too emotional. Like
- 14:53Speaker 3: a lot of this stuff, Stephen A also has an
- 14:56Speaker 3: ability and a lot of people at this level have
- 14:58Speaker 3: an ability to, that is really underrated. It's an ability
- 15:02Speaker 3: to be personal, but not be consumed by it. So
- 15:07Speaker 3: I don't think that Stephen A. somewhere right now is going, yo,
- 15:10Speaker 3: the next time I catch Whitlock, I'm a... Like, I
- 15:13Speaker 3: don't think he's being that way. I think that could
- 15:15Speaker 3: happen if he saw him, but I really do think
- 15:18Speaker 3: he gets into that on a Thursday, and then on
- 15:20Speaker 3: a Friday, he's on to the next thing.
- 15:23Speaker 2: I ruminate. I get obsessed. I'm like, yo, is this.
- 15:26Speaker 3: Like, it gets to me. in a way that it
- 15:29Speaker 3: doesn't get to other people. I don't think that it
- 15:30Speaker 3: gets to him that way. I do think, though, that
- 15:33Speaker 3: if he ever ran into Jason Whitlock, that the animus
- 15:38Speaker 3: is deep enough that something would happen.
- 15:40Speaker 4: Yeah, and the thing with Whitlock is Whitlock don't really
- 15:43Speaker 4: get mad.
- 15:45Speaker 1: Like, think of all the times you've seen Whitlock and
- 15:47Speaker 1: things you've seen Whitlock talk about.
- 15:49Speaker 4: It doesn't go like that. You know what I mean?
- 15:51Speaker 1: It's not an up-down situation, which makes it worse when
- 15:53Speaker 1: you get super hot, because that's when somebody says something that.
- 15:56Speaker 4: Makes you really want to burn this motherfucking down, right?
- 15:58Speaker 1: But I think the part that strikes me is I
- 16:02Speaker 1: am amazed at how many people are able to make
- 16:07Speaker 1: a living covering.
- 16:10Speaker 3: Us, right?
- 16:12Speaker 1: Nobody goes to a sports game to watch the refs.
- 16:15Speaker 1: Nobody goes to watch the media. But when the game
- 16:18Speaker 1: is over, I am shocked by how many people make
- 16:21Speaker 1: their living I can name people that make a living
- 16:23Speaker 1: talking about me, right? Like it floors me that people
- 16:27Speaker 1: care that much, particularly about sports media. I know that
- 16:31Speaker 1: there is some coverage around the other media worlds, and
- 16:34Speaker 1: maybe I'm not as aware of the discussion because it's
- 16:36Speaker 1: not about me. but they talk up in sports media
- 16:39Speaker 1: in particular people talk about us so much more and
- 16:41Speaker 1: now we at the player part of it and so
- 16:43Speaker 1: the players they gonna have their back and forth with
- 16:46Speaker 1: each other they gonna have the ones where they come
- 16:48Speaker 1: at the media people maybe they don't like or whatever
- 16:50Speaker 1: it is but it's like a wrestling shoot every time
- 16:54Speaker 1: it feels like somebody decides to log on and get
- 16:57Speaker 1: the thing cracking like with steven a that was a
- 17:00Speaker 1: long ass shoot like you were wrestling duke You.
- 17:03Speaker 4: Know, that was a long-ass shoot.
- 17:06Speaker 1: And I just can't... Nobody can ever say that I
- 17:10Speaker 1: take myself too seriously because clearly there are other people
- 17:14Speaker 1: out here that take me way more seriously than that.
- 17:17Speaker 3: Well, I don't know that they care about you as
- 17:20Speaker 3: much as they care about mess. And the way I
- 17:23Speaker 3: know this, or the reason why I suspect this is
- 17:27Speaker 3: because of me. I'm on YouTube. And I'm looking around
- 17:33Speaker 3: on YouTube. I watched a video yesterday. The video was
- 17:36Speaker 3: 15 minutes and it was about Brendan Schaub. Like Brendan Schaub,
- 17:41Speaker 3: the MMA fighter who also became a comedian, the fighter
- 17:47Speaker 3: and the kid, the whole nine. It was a 15
- 17:49Speaker 3: minute video about Brendan Schaub and it was all of
- 17:52Speaker 3: this shit that had happened. Apparently Brendan Schaub tried to
- 17:55Speaker 3: hit on a comedian's wife or something. I don't know.
- 17:58Speaker 3: It was all of this shit that happened like last
- 17:59Speaker 3: year or the year before two years ago.
- 18:01Speaker 2: They made a song out of it. The song was
- 18:04Speaker 2: called Trug Walk.
- 18:05Speaker 3: It was based on Plug Walk, because apparently Schaub had
- 18:09Speaker 3: asked this girl to walk him out to his truck,
- 18:12Speaker 3: and she felt like he was asking her to walk
- 18:16Speaker 3: out there because he wanted to get a blowjob or
- 18:18Speaker 3: something like that. It was a whole thing. Here's the point.
- 18:22Speaker 3: I don't give a fuck about none of this. You
- 18:24Speaker 3: are riveted. I was.
- 18:27Speaker 7: Enthralled.
- 18:30Speaker 3: Now, there were famous people involved in this that I knew, right?
- 18:32Speaker 3: There were names like Bobby Lee was involved, like all
- 18:35Speaker 3: these different comedians, and I knew those names, but that's
- 18:37Speaker 3: not why I was watching. I was watching because this
- 18:40Speaker 3: ended up being a fucking opera of mess. An opera
- 18:46Speaker 3: of mess. And then it led into... Like how Brendan
- 18:50Speaker 3: Schaub is considered now. Is Brendan Schaub? And then I thought,
- 18:53Speaker 3: wait a minute. They at war in Iran. I need
- 18:55Speaker 3: to watch some other fucking shit right now. What the
- 18:57Speaker 3: fuck am I doing? But I just think the Internet
- 18:59Speaker 3: is such fertile ground for narrative creation and also for
- 19:05Speaker 3: playing on our basis instincts, which is if you rattle horns,
- 19:10Speaker 3: deer come to see what's up.
- 19:12Speaker 2: And if two people are into it, we want to
- 19:14Speaker 2: know why.
- 19:15Speaker 4: Yo, so it's so.
- 19:16Speaker 1: I think that last part really drove something home for
- 19:19Speaker 1: me that I think is interesting. And I've been reading
- 19:21Speaker 1: all these different things about the internet driving our base
- 19:24Speaker 1: impulses and how these people have figured out that, like,
- 19:27Speaker 1: rage is what really drives the ship, right? Like, rage
- 19:31Speaker 1: is where... Making people mad. People can't help it. They
- 19:34Speaker 1: keep coming back to it. But you are right in
- 19:37Speaker 1: that some for real... complicated mess, that is, that's hard
- 19:47Speaker 1: to pass up, man. Like mess that has actual factual
- 19:50Speaker 1: layers to it, no matter what it is. If you
- 19:52Speaker 1: see something that is like a progressive chain of mess,
- 19:56Speaker 1: and we have the situation where longer, you know, a
- 19:59Speaker 1: big part of it is with the internet, people decide
- 20:01Speaker 1: to make it public because they want the attention.
- 20:03Speaker 4: So now it comes up for everybody else. But like,
- 20:05Speaker 4: I ever tell you about the time I.
- 20:07Speaker 1: Was at the airport, And this white man had all
- 20:09Speaker 1: these people trying to beat him up. And I couldn't
- 20:11Speaker 1: figure out what it is. And it turned out that
- 20:14Speaker 1: he had called somebody at the N-word.
- 20:16Speaker 4: And then he did it at Hartsfield.
- 20:18Speaker 2: Oh, shit.
- 20:19Speaker 4: Right, right, right.
- 20:20Speaker 2: This motherfucker got a death wish.
- 20:23Speaker 4: And so he does it at Hartsfield.
- 20:24Speaker 3: What the fuck?
- 20:25Speaker 1: And so he does it at Hartsfield. And somebody tried
- 20:28Speaker 1: to get him. And it was some army cats. And
- 20:30Speaker 1: they were holding the dude back. And then somebody else
- 20:32Speaker 1: got heated enough to try to get him again.
- 20:35Speaker 4: And, you know, there was a little back and forth
- 20:37Speaker 4: or whatever. Then finally the white man started walking away.
- 20:39Speaker 1: And for some reason, I just decided to follow him
- 20:41Speaker 1: because I figured that the mess wasn't over yet.
- 20:44Speaker 4: And so I just kept walking.
- 20:45Speaker 1: He went into the Hudson news and he was talking
- 20:48Speaker 1: to the black people that were black women that were
- 20:50Speaker 1: working in the Hudson news. And he was talking about
- 20:53Speaker 1: how these people were trying to beat him up. And
- 20:55Speaker 1: it was all, it was giving him the sympathy or whatever.
- 20:57Speaker 1: And I couldn't help it, man. I just popped up
- 20:59Speaker 1: and I was like, Hey man, he called a couple
- 21:02Speaker 1: of people, the N word over there.
- 21:03Speaker 4: And they were like, what?
- 21:04Speaker 1: And he kept talking to stuff about my brother works
- 21:06Speaker 1: for the FBI. Like his brother was going to save
- 21:09Speaker 1: him and everything else.
- 21:10Speaker 4: But I only followed him. Cause I was like, How
- 21:13Speaker 4: is this going to resolve itself?
- 21:14Speaker 1: I think that was the part that I needed, was
- 21:18Speaker 1: how is this going to end? With the media beef,
- 21:22Speaker 1: I don't think there's a how does it end question.
- 21:24Speaker 1: It's just the back and forth that comes out of it.
- 21:27Speaker 1: But if you give me something where I'm like, huh,
- 21:29Speaker 1: I kind of got to know how that wraps up. Yep,
- 21:31Speaker 1: I could probably stick around. That's why threads catch on.
- 21:34Speaker 1: Not the site threads, but just the idea of threads.
- 21:36Speaker 3: Yeah. Like, we are all like slaves to story. Speaking
- 21:42Speaker 3: of the N-word, we are, like, we are.
- 21:46Speaker 2: Story gets people, man.
- 21:48Speaker 3: It's just, like, we are this big combination of all
- 21:52Speaker 3: of these factors. We keep telling the same stories over
- 21:55Speaker 3: and over every single generation. We always have a story
- 21:59Speaker 3: for someone. You always have a story for what went
- 22:02Speaker 3: right in your life and what went wrong in your life.
- 22:05Speaker 3: And neither story is 100% accurate, right? You remember the
- 22:08Speaker 3: people that helped you in... a little bit grander of
- 22:12Speaker 3: a way than they probably actually did sometimes. You remember
- 22:14Speaker 3: the people that harmed you in a little bit more
- 22:18Speaker 3: sinister way than it probably was at the time because
- 22:22Speaker 3: we are just used to telling ourselves stories. That was
- 22:24Speaker 3: kind of the thing that I learned at TMZ more
- 22:27Speaker 3: than anything else was that.
- 22:29Speaker 2: You could take a.
- 22:32Speaker 3: Video of LeBron James when he doesn't talk to the
- 22:36Speaker 3: TMZ camera guy and still make a post out of it.
- 22:40Speaker 3: Because number one is LeBron. Number two, the watch is expensive.
- 22:44Speaker 3: Number two, the car is... Number three, the car is expensive. Like,
- 22:47Speaker 3: what restaurant is he coming for? All of that stuff,
- 22:50Speaker 3: just the story of the presence of LeBron James' life
- 22:54Speaker 3: in that piece of video, right, that is meaningful to people. Like,
- 22:58Speaker 3: I started looking at, like, what people are interested in differently.
- 23:03Speaker 3: And they just want to know. Like, people legitimately, they
- 23:05Speaker 3: were just an inherent... curious species like we just want
- 23:10Speaker 3: to know and so when you see two people arguing
- 23:12Speaker 3: or fighting what the fuck happened if it resolves itself
- 23:16Speaker 3: cool if it doesn't resolve itself kind of even better
- 23:20Speaker 3: because that means it's got a second act and a
- 23:22Speaker 3: third act this thing between the fucking whitlock and steven
- 23:27Speaker 3: a they gonna be they're they're older black men now
- 23:30Speaker 3: they're gonna be elderly black men Remember some years ago
- 23:35Speaker 3: when there was two Canadian hockey or football guys on
- 23:39Speaker 3: the stage?
- 23:40Speaker 2: Remember this?
- 23:41Speaker 4: And they started scrapping.
- 23:43Speaker 2: In their 70s.
- 23:46Speaker 3: I did as much work on that as I could
- 23:49Speaker 3: at the time, and it's already jumped out of my mind.
- 23:51Speaker 2: It's just who we are.
- 23:52Speaker 3: The question now is that how cynical do you want
- 23:55Speaker 3: to be with your platform as far as indulging into that?
- 23:59Speaker 3: Because you could. You don't have to be smart. You
- 24:02Speaker 3: don't have to be funny. You don't have to have observations.
- 24:05Speaker 3: You don't have to be brave anymore. You just have
- 24:08Speaker 3: to be willing to get super duper dirty and YouTube
- 24:12Speaker 3: will pay you for the rest of your life.
- 24:14Speaker 1: Yeah, look, people being wildly angry never stops being funny.
- 24:19Speaker 1: But anybody, it almost doesn't matter why, anybody that feels
- 24:23Speaker 1: on site about somebody... is going to be hilarious, right?
- 24:27Speaker 1: Because what you do is you try to get them,
- 24:29Speaker 1: and the way to make it really funny is you
- 24:30Speaker 1: get them talking about it, and then you try to
- 24:32Speaker 1: change the subject, and that's not going to work, right?
- 24:35Speaker 4: And then you just, hey, I got one more thing
- 24:36Speaker 4: I want to say about that right fast.
- 24:37Speaker 2: You know what else that nigga did? I didn't even
- 24:39Speaker 2: tell you about this. I didn't even tell you about this.
- 24:41Speaker 4: No, no, no, no, no, no.
- 24:42Speaker 2: We on it. Let's stay on it. I didn't even
- 24:43Speaker 2: tell you about this.
- 24:45Speaker 4: Like, you the one that brought it up.
- 24:47Speaker 1: Yeah. Coming up next, speaking of people being very angry,
- 24:52Speaker 1: me and Van going to talk about the airport and
- 24:54Speaker 1: wait till he hears what I'm about to tell him.

- 26:13Speaker 1: All right, we are back on the right time with
- 26:17Speaker 1: Van Lathan and I just played a sound of a
- 26:20Speaker 1: snippet of some music for Van Lathan and I'm going
- 26:23Speaker 1: to tell you what that sound was that I just played.
- 26:26Speaker 1: It is from a tweet that was just sent and
- 26:28Speaker 1: somebody sent it to me and it has a video
- 26:32Speaker 1: and the caption on the video is, lines at ATL
- 26:36Speaker 1: TSA so bad, they brought out live entertainment. And so
- 26:40Speaker 1: in the TSA line, that is a white woman in
- 26:44Speaker 1: a black cocktail dress that got shinies on it, and
- 26:48Speaker 1: she playing an electric fiddle to try to keep shit
- 26:52Speaker 1: cool because them TSA lines in Atlanta, they've been talking
- 26:56Speaker 1: about it's like three, four hours in there. I just
- 26:58Speaker 1: told you that they'd be ready to scrap it. You
- 27:01Speaker 1: know how mad you got to be to fight at
- 27:02Speaker 1: the airport? The only person I've ever seen fight at
- 27:04Speaker 1: the airport is Pac-Man Jones. And for what it's worth,
- 27:07Speaker 1: I don't think he started it. But anyway, they got
- 27:11Speaker 1: white girls in here playing music in line to try
- 27:14Speaker 1: to keep everything cool. I went to the airport about
- 27:17Speaker 1: 10 days ago.
- 27:19Speaker 4: I left LaGuardia. I went to a mid-sized city.
- 27:23Speaker 1: I was smooth on both ends, but I was over
- 27:26Speaker 1: in the bougie lines at LaGuardia, right?
- 27:28Speaker 6: Right.
- 27:29Speaker 1: I was looking over there con Los Ordinarios, and the
- 27:33Speaker 1: lines were getting a little longer. You could kind of tell. Brother,
- 27:37Speaker 1: I've been looking at these videos, man. if I got
- 27:39Speaker 1: to get there four hours early, I don't even want
- 27:42Speaker 1: to go. Like I had a trip to take this
- 27:44Speaker 1: week that turned into a train trip. Cause I was like, brother,
- 27:47Speaker 1: I ain't missing my flight on the, imagine you wait
- 27:49Speaker 1: three hours and you still don't get on.
- 27:51Speaker 2: You still don't get on the plane. It's tough. It's tough.
- 27:53Speaker 3: It's always, flying is always stressful enough. Like, you know,
- 27:58Speaker 3: I fly now and I do the whole Delta one thing.
- 28:00Speaker 3: And it's actually a lovely experience.
- 28:02Speaker 2: Right. But then like this, this how fucked up I was.
- 28:06Speaker 2: It's facts. It's like lovely.
- 28:07Speaker 3: Like I, Delta One is so great, and I'm not
- 28:10Speaker 3: sponsored by Delta One, but Delta One is so great.
- 28:12Speaker 3: It actually makes me wonder why anyone would.
- 28:17Speaker 2: Fly private, right? Why anyone would fly private. It's very nice.
- 28:20Speaker 2: But even when you go there now, they have to.
- 28:21Speaker 3: Take you up and you have to do the other
- 28:23Speaker 3: TSA line and all of that stuff.
- 28:25Speaker 4: Oh, that's right, because they got the Delta One line now.
- 28:27Speaker 3: Because they got their own security, their own Delta One
- 28:29Speaker 3: thing down there, right? But now they don't have that anymore,
- 28:32Speaker 3: so you got to go somewhere else. I'm like, this
- 28:34Speaker 3: fucking political strife and unrest is really fucking with my
- 28:36Speaker 3: fucking comfort. Oh, my God.
- 28:39Speaker 4: You 1%-ed the fuck out of this one, brother.
- 28:42Speaker 2: It's not true.
- 28:42Speaker 3: I'm just telling people how I live now. This is
- 28:45Speaker 3: an apartment, but I do fly Delta 1. Okay, so, like,
- 28:49Speaker 3: come on.
- 28:50Speaker 2: Give me a break. So, look, this is what I'll say.
- 28:54Speaker 3: When I... And my brain....
- 28:58Speaker 2: My brain can only look at the tremendous amount of dysfunction.
- 29:01Speaker 3: When I see that, I think about the guys on
- 29:04Speaker 3: the Titanic that when the ship was sinking... that they
- 29:08Speaker 3: were still trying to, remember that? They were still trying
- 29:11Speaker 3: to play the violin. Remember, if you guys ever saw
- 29:14Speaker 3: the movie Titanic, the ship is sinking, and as the
- 29:19Speaker 3: ship is sinking, they're the guys, and what they're hired
- 29:23Speaker 3: to do is, their whole thing was to play mood
- 29:27Speaker 3: music on the Titanic. They played it in the dining hall.
- 29:29Speaker 3: They played it out on the deck. There would be
- 29:33Speaker 3: nice violin music and stuff like that. Well, the boat
- 29:36Speaker 3: is actually sinking, and these guys are not going to
- 29:40Speaker 3: be able to get on a life raft. So what
- 29:43Speaker 3: they do is, while this whole thing is going down,
- 29:47Speaker 3: our one job is to continue to play this music.
- 29:50Speaker 3: So we're actually going to play music to the sinking
- 29:54Speaker 3: of the actual ship. While some people are going to
- 29:56Speaker 3: lose their lives, we're going to give them a little
- 29:59Speaker 3: bit of comfort while this entire dysfunctional thing plays out
- 30:03Speaker 3: behind us. That's how I feel about that. And that's
- 30:06Speaker 3: what we're doing in more cases than just that. We are.
- 30:09Speaker 3: We are. As these tremendous societal problems get mainstreamed and mainlined,
- 30:15Speaker 3: we are trying to flag football players versus NFL our
- 30:19Speaker 3: way out of it.
- 30:20Speaker 2: We're trying to Drake versus Kendrick our way out of it.
- 30:23Speaker 4: Content.
- 30:24Speaker 3: We're just looking for something to take our minds off
- 30:27Speaker 3: the fact that it is actually happening, guys.
- 30:31Speaker 4: It is going down.
- 30:32Speaker 2: We're losing the whole fucking thing. And we never really
- 30:34Speaker 2: had it, right?
- 30:35Speaker 3: Right.
- 30:36Speaker 2: But the actual.
- 30:37Speaker 3: Thing from the economic standpoint, from geopolitics, from just basic
- 30:44Speaker 3: decency by... Not even decency. They were never decent. They
- 30:47Speaker 3: don't even lie about being decent anymore. The whole thing
- 30:51Speaker 3: is turning, but we just have to concentrate on something else.
- 30:54Speaker 3: So while people are waiting in that line, and that woman,
- 30:57Speaker 3: she's doing the right thing. She's polishing the brass on
- 31:00Speaker 3: the Titanic. It's all going down.
- 31:01Speaker 1: Yeah, I do think that people underestimate how dire the
- 31:06Speaker 1: situation is. I want to put a pin in that, though,
- 31:08Speaker 1: because I have a thing about the TSA that I
- 31:10Speaker 1: want to run by you, and I want to see it.
- 31:12Speaker 1: if you think anything similar to what I think about this.
- 31:16Speaker 1: So Ryan just sent me this tweet. It's from NBC News,
- 31:19Speaker 1: and it's the call-out rates at TSA for various airports.
- 31:25Speaker 1: These are the ones that they listed. Houston, H-O-U, so hobby, 40.3.
- 31:31Speaker 4: 40%! Hartsfield, 37.4.
- 31:34Speaker 1: Houston Intercontinental, shout-out to those of us who was there
- 31:40Speaker 1: before it was Bush.
- 31:41Speaker 3: 36.1.
- 31:41Speaker 4: New Orleans, 34.9. JFK, 33.7.
- 31:42Speaker 3: BWI, 30.4.
- 31:42Speaker 4: Pittsburgh, 27.5.
- 31:43Speaker 3: LaGuardia, 20.3.
- 31:44Speaker 4: Philadelphia, 19.7. And Phoenix, 19.3.
- 31:57Speaker 1: The Houston, Atlanta, Houston, New Orleans is what jumps out
- 32:01Speaker 1: to me. I, as someone from Houston, I have been
- 32:04Speaker 1: trying to find, is there a science to where they
- 32:09Speaker 1: do and do not call out at these airports? And
- 32:12Speaker 1: I will tell you this about Houston. Houston is about money.
- 32:16Speaker 1: And what it's really not about is not getting money.
- 32:20Speaker 1: Showing up to work and there ain't no check. I'm
- 32:22Speaker 1: surprised even 40% of the people showed up at this airport.
- 32:27Speaker 1: Atlanta at 37.
- 32:30Speaker 4: New Orleans at 35.
- 32:31Speaker 1: It's just hard for me to ignore the fact that
- 32:34Speaker 1: the top of this list is some blackity black ass cities, brother.
- 32:38Speaker 4: What the fuck is this? And by the way, I
- 32:41Speaker 4: don't know where I've been where TSA is not.
- 32:43Speaker 1: TSA is typically pretty blackity black no matter where it is.
- 32:47Speaker 1: But in those places, we ain't coming. We are just
- 32:51Speaker 1: letting you know right now. If it ain't no check,
- 32:53Speaker 1: we ain't coming.
- 32:55Speaker 3: TSA is so black that it's good for my self-esteem.
- 33:00Speaker 3: Because if I'm having a bad day and I got
- 33:03Speaker 3: to fly, I know I'm going to get love when
- 33:05Speaker 3: I'm going through TSA. When I'm going through TSA, I'm
- 33:09Speaker 3: going to get love, man. I always get love from
- 33:11Speaker 3: my people at TSA. Hey, man. Hey, bro.
- 33:13Speaker 2: I'm not going to blow your shit up with that
- 33:14Speaker 2: Kanye shit. I'll fuck with that shit up. Put your
- 33:17Speaker 2: hands up. Turn around.
- 33:20Speaker 3: Okay, cool.
- 33:20Speaker 2: Appreciate you. Keep doing your thing, man. I'll see you
- 33:22Speaker 2: next time. I always love... And it's just interesting, right?
- 33:26Speaker 3: Like, all of these powerful people at the top, and
- 33:30Speaker 3: you're going to ask these people that's coming from, I
- 33:33Speaker 3: don't know, man, the wards in Houston, South Baton Rouge.
- 33:38Speaker 3: We ain't got no airport like that. But, you know,
- 33:40Speaker 3: the Ninth Ward, New Orleans, you're going to ask these
- 33:42Speaker 3: people to come to work and not get paid with
- 33:45Speaker 3: no guarantee of when they are going to get paid. Bruh,
- 33:50Speaker 3: it's parties to be had, it's kicking it to be done,
- 33:55Speaker 3: it's Madden to be played, it's books to be read,
- 33:58Speaker 3: it's a lot of things to do that's a better
- 34:01Speaker 3: option than going to work at the airport if you
- 34:05Speaker 3: not fucking making no money. What the shit? It's a
- 34:07Speaker 3: lot of shit.
- 34:09Speaker 1: I tell you this, apparently Delta is sick of this shit.
- 34:13Speaker 4: Let me find this thing.
- 34:14Speaker 1: I saw it from the report of the Atlanta Journal
- 34:16Speaker 1: of Constitution.
- 34:18Speaker 4: Congressional staff or not.
- 34:19Speaker 1: News congressional staff is not going to like Delta is
- 34:22Speaker 1: suspending its special congressional desk service for members of Congress
- 34:26Speaker 1: until the shutdown is over.
- 34:27Speaker 4: It's like, yo man, we got to turn, they got
- 34:29Speaker 4: to turn this back around on them.
- 34:31Speaker 1: Like when I went to LaGuardia that day and the
- 34:33Speaker 1: airport wasn't crazy, my thought was, oh, okay. Cause you just,
- 34:37Speaker 1: New York can't stop. Then I looked up in New
- 34:39Speaker 1: York has stopped. It looks like, like, Hey man, the
- 34:41Speaker 1: stakes too high to be playing that game up here.
- 34:43Speaker 1: I thought like we want to find one way or
- 34:45Speaker 1: another to make this shit happen.
- 34:47Speaker 3: I mean, what I try to do on Higher Learning,
- 34:52Speaker 3: Rachel and I, is just let people know why this
- 34:55Speaker 3: is happening.
- 34:56Speaker 2: We could fund TSA right now if we wanted to.
- 35:00Speaker 3: Even some Senate Republicans, John Thune has indicated that he
- 35:03Speaker 3: is okay with a deal that funds all of DHS
- 35:10Speaker 3: except for ICE and CBP. So there actually is a
- 35:14Speaker 3: deal on the table, something that the Democrats... and some
- 35:17Speaker 3: Senate Republicans have floated to the president, but the White
- 35:21Speaker 3: House is dug in. They want to keep Congress there.
- 35:24Speaker 3: They want to keep the fight about the SAVE Act going,
- 35:27Speaker 3: and they don't want to have to give in to
- 35:29Speaker 3: some of the reforms surrounding ICE that the Democrats want.
- 35:33Speaker 3: These people could be getting paid. They could be getting paid.
- 35:36Speaker 3: I think a lot of people saw kind of some
- 35:38Speaker 3: of the things that happened in the last shutdown, and
- 35:40Speaker 3: they were like, okay, well, let's attempt to close portions
- 35:43Speaker 3: of this so that during this particular time when the
- 35:46Speaker 3: summer's coming, the spring is coming. It was already summer
- 35:48Speaker 3: in LA. The spring is coming. The summer is coming.
- 35:50Speaker 3: People about to start traveling. Spring break is coming. Let's
- 35:53Speaker 3: not cause this type of gridlock in the nation's airports.
- 35:57Speaker 3: But once again, everything is political and these type of wars,
- 36:01Speaker 3: the blood is going to be spilled by the average American.
- 36:05Speaker 3: I mean, a lot of the people making these decisions
- 36:08Speaker 3: are going to be able to opt for private planes,
- 36:10Speaker 3: not those congressmen that you're talking about.
- 36:12Speaker 2: They broke too. Some of them.
- 36:13Speaker 3: Some of them are doing tremendous amounts of insider trading
- 36:16Speaker 3: and are way up.
- 36:17Speaker 2: You know what? Let me not say they broke, too.
- 36:18Speaker 2: Make them seem like they us. They different. They making money.
- 36:21Speaker 2: They selling books.
- 36:21Speaker 3: They getting all kinds of crazy shit. But some of
- 36:23Speaker 3: them aren't going to be as impacted by that as
- 36:26Speaker 3: we will. We that are flying will be impacted, but
- 36:29Speaker 3: more so the people that have to go work at
- 36:30Speaker 3: the TSA, they will be impacted.
- 36:32Speaker 2: But nobody gives a fuck about that. I got to
- 36:34Speaker 2: watch more Brendan Shaw videos. I got to know what happened.
- 36:37Speaker 4: When are we going to get our.
- 36:39Speaker 3: I can stay on TSA, but I got to know
- 36:41Speaker 3: what happened when Brendan Shaw went on the Joe Rogan
- 36:43Speaker 3: experience just recently.
- 36:44Speaker 4: Hey, man. It's coming close. April 5th is Resurrection Sunday.
- 36:53Speaker 1: Will that be when we get our first full-on Donnybrook
- 37:00Speaker 1: Pier 6... a.
- 37:07Speaker 4: Show of brouhaha at the airport.
- 37:10Speaker 1: Like, it's a matter of time before somebody starts.
- 37:12Speaker 4: Scrapping it out. Like, here's the thing about the line
- 37:15Speaker 4: at the airport, man.
- 37:16Speaker 1: People in that motherfucker, for a number of reasons, some
- 37:19Speaker 1: of them come with great trauma, anxiety, and people anxious
- 37:23Speaker 1: anyway just about getting on planes, right? Somebody goes scrapping
- 37:28Speaker 1: out on this motherfucker at some point.
- 37:30Speaker 2: Yeah, it's... It happened and then would be funny. That's
- 37:36Speaker 2: a funny idea right there. Yeah, of course.
- 37:39Speaker 3: It's just a heightened place. We all know you're nervous
- 37:43Speaker 3: to fly. You don't know what's going to happen at
- 37:45Speaker 3: the airport. The airport itself is a target. All of
- 37:47Speaker 3: this security exists because of all of this trauma that
- 37:50Speaker 3: we have from witnessing some of the things that have
- 37:51Speaker 3: happened in the past at the airport. There's still this
- 37:53Speaker 3: post-9-11 haze that exists even though that's almost 30 years
- 37:57Speaker 3: ago at this point. So it's like, It's just like
- 38:00Speaker 3: travel itself is a stressful thing, and to add so
- 38:03Speaker 3: much stress to everybody's lives, it's a cruel.
- 38:09Speaker 2: Thing to do. But I do think that you're right.
- 38:11Speaker 2: This is going to spill over somewhere.
- 38:12Speaker 3: I guess the question for you is, based upon a
- 38:15Speaker 3: lot of the statistics and information that you have, which
- 38:18Speaker 3: city is going to be the city that.
- 38:21Speaker 2: Breaks out into this Donnybrook?
- 38:23Speaker 3: What do you think is going to happen?
- 38:25Speaker 2: Is it New Orleans? Is it Atlanta? Is it someplace
- 38:27Speaker 2: we don't think, right? Like, where is it going to happen?
- 38:30Speaker 1: I think the fact that Atlanta is the first city that,
- 38:33Speaker 1: to my knowledge, has brought out street performers, it implies
- 38:37Speaker 1: to me that someone has recognized that the tension has
- 38:40Speaker 1: built in such a way that we need to.
- 38:42Speaker 4: Start smoothing this situation out.
- 38:45Speaker 1: Like, what we need to figure out is the city
- 38:48Speaker 1: where the airport has a greater collision rate.
- 38:53Speaker 4: Of walks of life right because.
- 38:54Speaker 1: That's the thing about atlanta atlanta got a lot of
- 38:58Speaker 1: walks of life going through that oh i don't know
- 39:03Speaker 1: what the situation currently is in las vegas but it's
- 39:06Speaker 1: a little bit of everybody in las vegas and while
- 39:09Speaker 1: las vegas is down that means that you can get
- 39:12Speaker 1: a deal which changes who the demographics are that are
- 39:15Speaker 1: in this line in las vegas and High percentage of
- 39:20Speaker 1: people that have never been on a plane before, perhaps.
- 39:23Speaker 4: You understand what I'm saying?
- 39:24Speaker 3: Also, people who are fucking drunk and are coming right
- 39:29Speaker 3: to the plane.
- 39:30Speaker 2: After fucking going crazy. You see that in Vegas all
- 39:32Speaker 2: the time.
- 39:33Speaker 4: And losing all their money.
- 39:34Speaker 2: Vegas used to be a house of horrors.
- 39:37Speaker 4: It could be anything.
- 39:38Speaker 2: It could be anything. And then there's people gambling in there.
- 39:41Speaker 3: So you might have lost some bread and then went
- 39:46Speaker 3: to wait on the long-ass line, and had a little
- 39:48Speaker 3: liquor in you, Vegas is probably the answer.
- 39:51Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah.
- 39:53Speaker 1: There's great room for bad things to happen at the
- 39:56Speaker 1: gate in Vegas. I remember I flew out of Intercontinental,
- 40:02Speaker 1: a bush in Houston.
- 40:03Speaker 4: Me and my mama flew out of there last year.
- 40:04Speaker 1: And so the thing about having all the airport hacks
- 40:08Speaker 1: is you forget that not everybody has them.
- 40:10Speaker 4: So I'm at the airport with.
- 40:11Speaker 1: My then 81-year-old mother, And I'm showing up on the
- 40:16Speaker 1: hack schedule. And then I look at her and I'm like,
- 40:18Speaker 1: do you have a boarding pass? And she says, no,
- 40:22Speaker 1: because she does not. She does not traffic in the
- 40:24Speaker 1: world of technology in the ways that we do. So
- 40:26Speaker 1: it's a little bit tight. You know, we got to
- 40:28Speaker 1: go in. We got to print, you know, print a
- 40:30Speaker 1: boarding pass. Yeah, we get all that stuff.
- 40:33Speaker 4: And then I.
- 40:33Speaker 1: Remember that we're in the line, you know, so we
- 40:36Speaker 1: get in the regular line and I go with her
- 40:38Speaker 1: and I put her stuff down. And then I showed
- 40:39Speaker 1: the woman my boarding pass. And she says to me, well,
- 40:42Speaker 1: you know, you could have gone the other line. I'm like, yeah,
- 40:44Speaker 1: but I hear my mom.
- 40:44Speaker 4: She's like, wow, you're a good son. I'm like, do
- 40:46Speaker 4: you think that I was just going to go through
- 40:48Speaker 4: the other line?
- 40:50Speaker 3: And let your mom go through, what the? Can you
- 40:52Speaker 3: imagine if somebody.
- 40:54Speaker 1: Saw me do that and that wound up on the
- 40:57Speaker 1: internet about how Bobati left his mama to go through
- 41:00Speaker 1: that or whatever it was. But I always knew though,
- 41:03Speaker 1: that as that went, my mama looks good for her age.
- 41:06Speaker 1: but I could always pull that card if it came.
- 41:09Speaker 1: Can we get a wheelchair? Can we get those things?
- 41:13Speaker 1: But we got it done because she don't move as
- 41:14Speaker 1: fast as she used to, so I did a walk
- 41:16Speaker 1: with her. I got her to her gate. I did
- 41:19Speaker 1: all of those things. But imagine being in a similar
- 41:22Speaker 1: situation now and you're not with your older mother and
- 41:26Speaker 1: you're trying to get through and this shit just going slow.
- 41:28Speaker 4: You know what I'm saying? It's tight.
- 41:31Speaker 3: Now, I got to say something. The video that you
- 41:34Speaker 3: just described, Bro, I will watch that bitch. This will
- 41:37Speaker 3: be the headline. It will say, Bomani Jones Abandons.
- 41:42Speaker 2: And Abandons would be in caps.
- 41:44Speaker 3: Yes. Abandons would be in all caps. Bomani Jones Abandons
- 41:50Speaker 3: Mother in Airport. Lives the cozy life while she stands
- 41:54Speaker 3: in line. And then some sister would come on, probably
- 41:57Speaker 3: like with a septum ring. some sister would come on
- 41:59Speaker 3: and she would go, I always knew this nigga, and
- 42:03Speaker 3: it would be a picture of you, was trash. And
- 42:07Speaker 3: I would watch the whole video and then I would
- 42:09Speaker 3: just send it to you like, Bo, they talking about,
- 42:11Speaker 3: you know what I'm saying?
- 42:12Speaker 2: That's what I'm talking about.
- 42:12Speaker 3: That's funny. That's the type of shit that's funny. But
- 42:15Speaker 3: you thought about it, you didn't do it. Look, I
- 42:17Speaker 3: don't know how this.
- 42:17Speaker 4: Shit is going to happen. I know, I did not
- 42:18Speaker 4: think about it. I did not think about it. Oh,
- 42:21Speaker 4: let me go ahead and get in here right now.
- 42:24Speaker 4: And I ain't going to lie. literally every other one
- 42:29Speaker 4: of you motherfuckers. I had to laugh.
- 42:33Speaker 1: And I say that because my daddy don't fly no more.
- 42:36Speaker 1: Every other one of you, I would have seen you
- 42:40Speaker 1: on the other side.
- 42:41Speaker 2: Yeah, I wouldn't have that problem with my father right now.
- 42:43Speaker 2: That's not a concern. But it's okay. Dark humor, everybody.
- 42:48Speaker 3: Just laugh. But yeah, look, man, I don't know how
- 42:52Speaker 3: this shit is going to play out, but I know
- 42:54Speaker 3: it's going to last for a lot longer. And now
- 42:56Speaker 3: you didn't fuck with my brain so bad. I'm going
- 42:59Speaker 3: to be like scanning the... There actually kind of was
- 43:02Speaker 3: an incident. I feel like this was in San Francisco. But,
- 43:05Speaker 3: you know, now they've kind of ratcheted things up by
- 43:07Speaker 3: putting ICE, making ICE the TSA.
- 43:09Speaker 4: Hey, I don't think that's a good idea, guys.
- 43:12Speaker 3: No, one day we'll look on the fucking... It'll be
- 43:13Speaker 3: like 12 dead. Like, so, I mean, now ICE is
- 43:17Speaker 3: the TSA.
- 43:18Speaker 4: Here's my question.
- 43:18Speaker 2: What are they doing?
- 43:19Speaker 4: Are they checking IDs? Like, what are they doing?
- 43:21Speaker 2: I have no clue, bro.
- 43:22Speaker 3: I wouldn't... I legitimately, when I say this, I legitimately,
- 43:26Speaker 3: legitimately would not trust the ICE agents to walk my dog.
- 43:30Speaker 2: And that's, I wouldn't. They will kill the dog. The
- 43:33Speaker 2: dog will bark. They will execute the dog. They kick
- 43:35Speaker 2: the dogs.
- 43:36Speaker 3: They do all kinds of, I would not, ICE, I
- 43:39Speaker 3: saw a sister and I don't know, you can't be
- 43:43Speaker 3: masked in the airport, I guess. I guess the ICE
- 43:45Speaker 3: agents that are in the airport are, they can't have
- 43:48Speaker 3: a mask on. I don't think that it's the same
- 43:51Speaker 3: because some of the ones I've seen in the airport,
- 43:53Speaker 3: they don't have masks on. You are fucking brave. I
- 44:02Speaker 3: see you and you are ice agent. I'm going to
- 44:06Speaker 3: remember you, homie. I don't know how.
- 44:09Speaker 2: I don't know when. I don't know how.
- 44:11Speaker 3: We're going to do it, but that's.
- 44:16Speaker 2: Like being the parking attendant people.
- 44:18Speaker 1: Yo, can you imagine having a job where you got
- 44:20Speaker 1: to hide your face? You Ron Simmons and Butch Reed.
- 44:23Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying? And with them, everybody knew
- 44:26Speaker 1: who it was. These cats, maybe you think you getting by, right?
- 44:30Speaker 3: But you.
- 44:31Speaker 4: Dang. And America love law enforcement.
- 44:35Speaker 2: Yeah, they normally.
- 44:36Speaker 3: But in this situation, they're kind of like a mascot
- 44:39Speaker 3: for everything that's going wrong.
- 44:40Speaker 4: You know what?
- 44:41Speaker 3: Now that I think about it, in all my time
- 44:44Speaker 3: in LA, LA, the parking is so bad that The
- 44:47Speaker 3: parking attendant people are like a unique, a unique group
- 44:51Speaker 3: of people that are kind of reviled out here. I
- 44:54Speaker 3: don't know if these people are real. I've never known
- 44:55Speaker 3: anyone that did that job. I never just like was
- 44:58Speaker 3: hooping with somebody and was like, hey man, what you do?
- 45:00Speaker 3: He's like, yeah, I'm the parking enforcement people. I've just never,
- 45:03Speaker 3: I've never, I've been out here 20 years. That's never happened.
- 45:06Speaker 2: These people robots?
- 45:09Speaker 3: Like, are they, what?
- 45:10Speaker 2: I've never, this just occurred to me.
- 45:13Speaker 3: I've never in L.A., met someone or been around someone,
- 45:16Speaker 3: every other position that is available.
- 45:20Speaker 2: I've known people working at the different car washes out here.
- 45:22Speaker 4: What about the dog catcher?
- 45:25Speaker 3: I knew a guy, I hooped with a guy who,
- 45:29Speaker 3: it was so funny that he went from being a
- 45:31Speaker 3: postman to working with.
- 45:34Speaker 2: The animal people.
- 45:36Speaker 4: He was working with the dog catcher.
- 45:37Speaker 3: Yeah, he was. He went from being a postman because
- 45:42Speaker 3: it was very funny. He went from being a postman.
- 45:45Speaker 3: He was a letter carrier. He had been in the military.
- 45:47Speaker 3: He went from being a postman, and then he became
- 45:51Speaker 3: a part of, like, the dog catcher people here out here,
- 45:53Speaker 3: the animal control. Animal control. He was a part of
- 45:56Speaker 3: animal control. We used to always make fun of him.
- 45:57Speaker 3: So I at least knew one of those guys.
- 46:00Speaker 2: He's dead now.
- 46:01Speaker 3: I at least knew one of those guys in 20 years.
- 46:05Speaker 3: And in 20 years in L.A., I've never known someone
- 46:08Speaker 3: that's like, yeah, I'm a parking attendant people.
- 46:10Speaker 2: I wonder if those people are actually real.
- 46:12Speaker 3: Yeah. Nah, airport.
- 46:14Speaker 4: The day is coming. I got one last thing I
- 46:16Speaker 4: want to ask you.
- 46:18Speaker 1: And I'm going to do this for the people who
- 46:20Speaker 1: listen to this show and have listened to this show
- 46:22Speaker 1: for a while and know people who are part of
- 46:24Speaker 1: this show who are family of sorts. And we pub
- 46:28Speaker 1: it up. But a lot of people who don't know this,
- 46:29Speaker 1: Van is the co-host of The Ring of Tailgate. And
- 46:32Speaker 1: one of his co-hosts is our favorite hater, Joel Anderson.
- 46:36Speaker 1: And so we were just kind of wondering, like, what's
- 46:38Speaker 1: it been like for you to work with our good friend, Joel?
- 46:42Speaker 1: Who my love, by the way. He helped me do
- 46:44Speaker 1: an edit on an article I just wrote.
- 46:46Speaker 3: So, Joel is to me, and it's not going to
- 46:52Speaker 3: stay this way if I have any say. Joel to
- 46:55Speaker 3: me is the best kept secret in this industry.
- 46:59Speaker 2: Period. He's the best kept secret in this industry. I
- 47:02Speaker 2: had no idea.
- 47:04Speaker 3: I was on a pod with Bill maybe like two
- 47:07Speaker 3: or three years ago and me and Joel were podding
- 47:10Speaker 3: with Bill and all of a sudden Joe just started
- 47:13Speaker 3: hating on LSU for no reason.
- 47:17Speaker 2: Like, for no reason. He's like, hey, just to let
- 47:19Speaker 2: you know, LSU ain't shit.
- 47:21Speaker 3: And really, what's happened at LSU has been just recent.
- 47:24Speaker 3: Before then, he's like, LSU is basically Texas Tech with
- 47:27Speaker 3: a good run.
- 47:28Speaker 2: I'm on the podcast. I'm like, yo, is this nigga
- 47:30Speaker 2: talking to me?
- 47:31Speaker 3: Because, like, I was such, like, I love slow burn.
- 47:38Speaker 3: I say loved. I love it. I still listen to
- 47:41Speaker 3: Slow Burn. It's such great work, right? Such a big
- 47:44Speaker 3: fan of Joel Anderson. Used to hit Joel up and
- 47:46Speaker 3: all of that stuff to tell him what a big
- 47:47Speaker 3: fan of Slow Burn I was. This is back in
- 47:50Speaker 3: the day. Me and Joel first got cool because I
- 47:53Speaker 3: was listening to what he was doing at Slate on
- 47:57Speaker 3: my walks and stuff like that.
- 47:58Speaker 2: He did one about Edwin Edwards. Not Edwin Edwards.
- 48:00Speaker 3: He did one about David Duke. A lot of people
- 48:02Speaker 3: that I know from Louisiana are involved in that story
- 48:04Speaker 3: and stuff like that going way back. He's been a
- 48:06Speaker 3: big fan for a long time. When he did that,
- 48:08Speaker 3: I was like, shit. First of all, I felt played
- 48:11Speaker 3: as fuck that he did that on Bill's podcast. I
- 48:14Speaker 3: just felt super played. Like, what is this nigga?
- 48:16Speaker 2: Like, this nigga trying to get me out of my character?
- 48:18Speaker 3: Then I came to love it so much because he
- 48:22Speaker 3: is so unpredictable except for one thing. Whatever you love,
- 48:28Speaker 3: he will assassinate. It does not matter what that thing is.
- 48:34Speaker 3: Whatever it is that you love, I could say, man,
- 48:38Speaker 3: I went to this place and I had the best
- 48:40Speaker 3: fucking burgers ever. Joel's going to be like, man, them
- 48:43Speaker 3: burgers small, they suck, and the cheese don't taste like
- 48:46Speaker 3: it's real. Whatever you love, Joel will hate on it.
- 48:50Speaker 3: And once you know that, it is just endless comedy
- 48:54Speaker 3: on tailgate. It's just endless comedy, Bo. He doesn't know
- 49:00Speaker 3: how to ignore a slight. Like, whatever anyone says, if
- 49:04Speaker 3: you are the 50th person in the comments, you have
- 49:08Speaker 3: legitimately 12 numbers next to your name.
- 49:13Speaker 7: Claude 815-657-123-195251 and you say joel was off on this
- 49:21Speaker 7: episode there is going to be a reply shut your
- 49:24Speaker 7: whole ass up it is fucking amazing and i've never
- 49:29Speaker 7: seen anything like it between that and everything and this
- 49:32Speaker 7: just weird comic timing joel makes tailgate it i i
- 49:39Speaker 7: lobbied and lobbied and lobbied and lobbied for us to
- 49:40Speaker 7: do the pod we all put it together joe like
- 49:42Speaker 7: all that stuff but it's become essentially essentially his podcast
- 49:47Speaker 7: it's a complete vehicle for everything that he does.
- 49:49Speaker 1: Well yo at once joel claims that i am responsible
- 49:56Speaker 1: for this narrative of him being a hater joel sat
- 50:00Speaker 1: up in this podcast and told me that Bun B
- 50:03Speaker 1: needed to stop hanging out with me and start hanging
- 50:06Speaker 1: out with him because he could not be friends with
- 50:09Speaker 1: us both.
- 50:10Speaker 4: Okay?
- 50:11Speaker 3: Okay?
- 50:12Speaker 4: But I created this narrative.
- 50:15Speaker 1: I have heard this man say word for word, I
- 50:19Speaker 1: am motivated by spite. His wife once posted on the
- 50:24Speaker 1: internet the text exchange where Joel got a new job
- 50:28Speaker 1: and immediately was like, I wish my old, I wonder
- 50:32Speaker 1: what my old boss is going to think when he
- 50:35Speaker 1: sees this.
- 50:36Speaker 2: What the fuck, bro?
- 50:38Speaker 4: He is powered by spite.
- 50:41Speaker 3: So, my favorite Joel clip ever is when, for some reason,
- 50:47Speaker 3: the Twitter handle, Reddit, I got, let me, okay.
- 50:51Speaker 4: Is it Reddit CFB?
- 50:51Speaker 1: Reddit CFB.
- 50:56Speaker 2: So, Reddit CFB said something about Joel. I don't remember
- 51:00Speaker 2: what it said.
- 51:02Speaker 7: And so me and Tate and Billy, we're.
- 51:11Speaker 2: Picking at Joe about it. And you guys go watch
- 51:13Speaker 2: the clip.
- 51:14Speaker 3: And Joe goes, that's the type of shit, that's the
- 51:17Speaker 3: type of ho shit that Reddit CFP is on.
- 51:20Speaker 2: And then he went, that's the.
- 51:21Speaker 3: Type of ho shit that y'all support. I looked. I'm like, yo, bro.
- 51:32Speaker 4: This nigga not acting.
- 51:33Speaker 3: This nigga is really.
- 51:35Speaker 2: Now, he gets back.
- 51:36Speaker 3: He got back real quick.
- 51:38Speaker 2: He's mad.
- 51:40Speaker 3: It's in his face. And then all of a sudden,
- 51:42Speaker 3: he just gets back. And he's laughing with us. But
- 51:45Speaker 3: for that moment, those feelings, I'm actually sweating. Those feelings
- 51:51Speaker 3: were 1,000% genuine.
- 51:52Speaker 1: Man.
- 51:53Speaker 2: Like, bro.
- 51:54Speaker 3: Like, I hit Bill. I'm like, bro, this podcast is
- 51:56Speaker 3: going to work. Like, this guy is something else. Like,
- 52:00Speaker 3: this part, between me, Tate, and Joel, we're having so
- 52:03Speaker 3: much fun, but Joel is different.
- 52:05Speaker 2: Not only that, but just, like, the lore.
- 52:07Speaker 3: Fastest 10-year-old ever in Texas, right? I invented Raiders of Peru.
- 52:14Speaker 3: In America, fastest 10-year-old in America. Like, I invented raise
- 52:18Speaker 3: the rim. All of this lore. I ran for 220
- 52:21Speaker 3: yards on 13 carries against... And he was really nice
- 52:24Speaker 3: when he was in high school. He was, like, super nice.
- 52:26Speaker 3: But it's just, all of this stuff is funny. I'm
- 52:29Speaker 3: having a lot of fun. And he's also, like, obviously incredibly...
- 52:33Speaker 3: Talented writer, super smart, all of that. I don't give
- 52:35Speaker 3: a fuck about none of that. He's just the funniest
- 52:39Speaker 3: guy that I think that I've ever hosted a show with.
- 52:41Speaker 6: I just needed you to share all of this as
- 52:44Speaker 6: it is gone with him because you told me the
- 52:47Speaker 6: Reddit CFB story and I was like, yep you you
- 52:50Speaker 6: guys you guys are you guys and see the difference
- 52:53Speaker 6: between you and me is i don't really be messing
- 52:55Speaker 6: with joel i do kind of because i'm like i
- 52:58Speaker 6: don't know where this might go right y'all y'all be
- 53:01Speaker 6: messing with joel and it's also funny to me as
- 53:03Speaker 6: i watch my buddy billy when billy started working on
- 53:06Speaker 6: that show those billy gill used to work with levitar
- 53:08Speaker 6: and when billy started working on the show i was
- 53:09Speaker 6: like bless your heart dealing with joel it's like what
- 53:11Speaker 6: do you mean i'm like no i love joel but
- 53:13Speaker 6: then i came back later it was like i told you.
- 53:15Speaker 2: Yeah He told me a story. I didn't realize how
- 53:19Speaker 2: tight you guys were.
- 53:20Speaker 3: He told me some of y'all's greatest hits, some stuff
- 53:25Speaker 3: that y'all... He told me the live show story.
- 53:28Speaker 2: He told me a bunch of other stuff. Yeah, he
- 53:31Speaker 2: told me.
- 53:31Speaker 3: That's my guy, man. Him and Billy's dynamic is really funny, too.
- 53:37Speaker 3: Billy is another guy. Billy is super fucking funny.
- 53:40Speaker 4: Yes, he's hilarious.
- 53:41Speaker 2: Yeah, Billy's fucking funny. So we having a lot of fun.
- 53:44Speaker 1: Billy is not monotone, but Billy uses the same voice
- 53:47Speaker 1: for everything, which.
- 53:49Speaker 4: Adds to the funny.
- 53:51Speaker 2: And only changes his facial expressions.
- 53:53Speaker 5: Yes.
- 53:54Speaker 3: Same voice, but only he'll go, yeah, so the thing is,
- 53:59Speaker 3: and he's using the same voice, but his face is changing.
- 54:02Speaker 2: And that's hilarious for some reason.
- 54:04Speaker 1: I have a content idea for you. I don't know
- 54:06Speaker 1: if you've thought about it. I don't know if you
- 54:08Speaker 1: can get the people to go along with it. You know,
- 54:11Speaker 1: Billy's fast, too. Billy won the race against the Freeze
- 54:14Speaker 1: in Atlanta.
- 54:16Speaker 6: Oh!
- 54:18Speaker 4: No, Billy's a D1 athlete.
- 54:20Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, he was a long jumper. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 54:23Speaker 4: Billy's a D1 athlete. Y'all say he fast.
- 54:28Speaker 2: Oh, shit. Bo, if you, you know what? Here's the thing.
- 54:32Speaker 2: If you call the race.
- 54:34Speaker 4: I'll do it.
- 54:35Speaker 2: If you call the race.
- 54:36Speaker 4: I'll do it.
- 54:37Speaker 2: If we can do a crossover, if you call the race,
- 54:40Speaker 2: I'll do it.
- 54:41Speaker 1: We'll need to find a way to record promos and
- 54:45Speaker 1: script this up. I think that we could have the
- 54:47Speaker 1: ringer tailgate field day with the right time, and I
- 54:51Speaker 1: just want to see them two dudes race against each other.
- 54:54Speaker 3: You know what's interesting? I think that what I always
- 54:58Speaker 3: wanted to do, I always wanted to have a regular guys' combine.
- 55:03Speaker 3: Because one of the funniest things, I know we almost
- 55:06Speaker 3: out of time, but I just got to say this.
- 55:08Speaker 3: One of the funniest things is that if you go
- 55:11Speaker 3: on your Twitter right now, it's you right now with
- 55:13Speaker 3: all the followers you got, right? If you go on
- 55:15Speaker 3: your Twitter right now and you just go, yo, what
- 55:18Speaker 3: could y'all run into 40? Listen to the ridiculousness that
- 55:22Speaker 3: will come back to you. Right now, I think I
- 55:24Speaker 3: could probably foe six, foe seven, something like that. Foe
- 55:27Speaker 3: five if I'm really in shape. And I'll just be
- 55:31Speaker 3: under this shit. I'll be like, hey, just to let
- 55:32Speaker 3: you know, Like, 4'5 is flying.
- 55:35Speaker 2: Right.
- 55:36Speaker 3: Okay? Like, you're on a fucking spaceship if you're on
- 55:39Speaker 3: a 4'5. That's like, for us, like, you don't know. Like,
- 55:43Speaker 3: 4'5 is flying in the 40. Nah, man, but I
- 55:47Speaker 3: was pretty fast, bro. I was pretty fast. Probably the
- 55:49Speaker 3: fastest one in my family, for sure. So I always
- 55:51Speaker 3: wanted to do just like a regular guys combine, where
- 55:54Speaker 3: we have guys sign waivers.
- 55:56Speaker 2: They could be guys at the gym, whatever. We do
- 55:58Speaker 2: the 40s.
- 55:59Speaker 3: We do different shit all the night. And then we
- 56:02Speaker 3: just great. We crown a regular guy combine champion. And
- 56:06Speaker 3: at this event, we do the crossover event. This could
- 56:09Speaker 3: be one of the events could be the Joel versus
- 56:12Speaker 3: Billy race. Now, this might ruin tailgate, right? Because if
- 56:17Speaker 3: Billy loses, no big deal. If Joel loses, this will
- 56:22Speaker 3: be the biggest deal of anything that's ever happened on
- 56:24Speaker 3: the ringer. Like there will be, this will be different.
- 56:27Speaker 3: fucking narratives about this forever. But I would love to
- 56:30Speaker 3: do that.
- 56:31Speaker 1: Let's figure it out. Let's figure it out. Van Lathan,
- 56:33Speaker 1: check him out on the Ranger Tailgate. Check him out
- 56:35Speaker 1: on Higher Learning. Check him out everywhere. My brother, I
- 56:39Speaker 1: appreciate you.
- 56:40Speaker 3: Always, man.
- 56:41Speaker 2: Appreciate you both.
- 56:42Speaker 3: All right, man.
- 56:42Speaker 1: And ladies and gentlemen, thanks so much for joining us
- 56:44Speaker 1: here on The Right Time. We do this four days
- 56:46Speaker 1: a week. Ryan Brumley, handle things behind the scenes.

- 57:02Speaker 1: of days.
- 57:03Speaker 4: Take it easy.
