- 0:03Speaker 1: Wake up.
- 0:05Speaker 1: Up next to
- 0:07Speaker 1: Kicking off your day in the best way. It's Sonia
- 0:10Speaker 1: and Joakim on the shock circuit. Good morning. Welcome to
- 0:13Speaker 1: a wonderful Thursday, last few days of August, believe it
- 0:15Speaker 1: or not, but it's an exciting day for us and
- 0:18Speaker 1: fans of Uniqlo. And also I don't think he's awake yet,
- 0:21Speaker 1: but happy birthday to my good friend Iggy. Oh yay,
- 0:25Speaker 1: your bestie. Happy birthday. Singapore's number one hit music station.
- 0:31Speaker 1: This afternoon, very special day for us. Um, we love
- 0:35Speaker 1: them so much. Our friends over at Uniqlo, we're working
- 0:38Speaker 1: with them again this year for Life Wear Week. Yes,
- 0:41Speaker 1: and you're wondering what is Life Wear Week. It's more
- 0:44Speaker 1: or less the announcement and the release of their fall
- 0:47Speaker 1: and winter collection. And I think for, you know, for
- 0:50Speaker 1: our friends over at Uniqlo, right, they've always emphasized on
- 0:53Speaker 1: great quality. Um, it doesn't mean you need to buy
- 0:56Speaker 1: like in bulk, you know, your usual fast fashion stuff
- 0:59Speaker 1: going on, right?
- 1:00Speaker 1: So they want to focus on good quality stuff that
- 1:02Speaker 1: you can keep for a long time that you can
- 1:05Speaker 1: style in any way. And I guess for the jeans
- 1:07Speaker 1: I'm wearing this morning, Beryl is back in fashion. It is.
- 1:10Speaker 1: I mean, it's been back for a while now since
- 1:12Speaker 1: last year actually. And I'm gonna say this, given how
- 1:14Speaker 1: we love to travel to winter in November and December, hey,
- 1:18Speaker 1: this could be a one-st place for everything. Yeah, and
- 1:21Speaker 1: for the girls, for the girlies, we've got fleece, we've
- 1:24Speaker 1: got yarn, and all these are washable, by the way.
- 1:27Speaker 1: Fleece was white as snow.
- 1:29Speaker 1: OK, so you're trying to be a rapper, right? You
- 1:32Speaker 1: should stick to your day job. It's a reference, by
- 1:35Speaker 1: the way. I didn't actually. I don't think I watched it.
- 1:38Speaker 1: All good. About to open up phone lines right now. 669-11987.
- 1:42Speaker 1: I feel there needs to be an official name for
- 1:44Speaker 1: this segments or something like that, you know what I
- 1:47Speaker 1: mean about something, yeah.
- 1:50Speaker 1: It's been a good run. Yeah, we're trying to see
- 1:52Speaker 1: if we can, you know, get more treats for you
- 1:54Speaker 1: early in the morning before you get to school. How
- 1:56Speaker 1: about that? So 669-11987 your conversational skills. Yeah, why not,
- 2:02Speaker 1: as well. And how about requesting for your favorite song
- 2:04Speaker 1: to play for your schoolmate, good friend, or even your
- 2:07Speaker 1: entire school? Yeah, or maybe even if you've already graduated
- 2:10Speaker 1: but you want to give a shout.
- 2:11Speaker 1: to, you know, you're an alumni, you want to give
- 2:13Speaker 1: a shout out to your school, why not, right? Rest assured,
- 2:15Speaker 1: if I heard this in my time in secondary school,
- 2:17Speaker 1: I would have called in every day. You are the
- 2:19Speaker 1: 150 times, I think. That's right. Again, we open the
- 2:23Speaker 1: phone line 669-11987. I want to hear your voice on
- 2:27Speaker 1: radio giving your favorite school a shout out, but sometimes
- 2:30Speaker 1: people actually WhatsApp us at 9005.
- 2:33Speaker 1: 50987 and we can't ignore, especially a sweet message like
- 2:38Speaker 1: this coming in from Frex. Hello Frex. You say, hey Sojo,
- 2:42Speaker 1: just a shout out to my three children, Darylyn, Jacob,
- 2:46Speaker 1: and Davina. I wish that they have a great day
- 2:48Speaker 1: at school. They go to Rosyth. Oh yay. And uh
- 2:53Speaker 1: there was a follow-up message.
- 2:55Speaker 1: Um, any song will do. I think they'll be so
- 2:57Speaker 1: excited to hear their names on air. Why not, right?
- 3:01Speaker 1: Why not play the biggest song of last year, Sonia? Yeah,
- 3:04Speaker 1: and you know what, I think it's still popular because
- 3:07Speaker 1: I did a couple of events recently where the kids
- 3:09Speaker 1: just like went insane for it in 2026. It almost
- 3:14Speaker 1: seems
- 3:14Speaker 1: As if March was last year already or 2 years ago,
- 3:18Speaker 1: given all that's happened here in Singapore and around the world,
- 3:21Speaker 1: but hey, don't forget we were on board the Disney adventure. Yes,
- 3:23Speaker 1: we were, in fact, I think the first batch of
- 3:26Speaker 1: people to be on board, right? So we experienced everything.
- 3:29Speaker 1: We even broadcasted live on board the Disney adventure.
- 3:33Speaker 1: And I know the one question people are asking back then,
- 3:37Speaker 1: at least in March, was, hey, does it stop anywhere,
- 3:40Speaker 1: you know, does it stop anywhere? And then you go
- 3:42Speaker 1: you disembark, is it always on the sea as compared
- 3:45Speaker 1: to other cruises that they have. Good news is starting December.
- 3:48Speaker 1: 31st on select 4 night cruises on board the Disney adventure,
- 3:54Speaker 1: they're gonna add Langkawi cute as a port of call
- 3:58Speaker 1: on day three. Lovely. I mean, I have been on
- 4:01Speaker 1: other cruises before where they stop by.
- 4:04Speaker 1: I want to say Penang. I can't really remember per se,
- 4:07Speaker 1: but somewhere around here. And then, but there's not that
- 4:09Speaker 1: much time, like, you know, you go down for a
- 4:11Speaker 1: couple of hours, you walk, you eat some food, maybe
- 4:12Speaker 1: you like buy some snacks and drinks and all that,
- 4:14Speaker 1: go back, right? But it's honestly a great idea. Lankawi.
- 4:18Speaker 1: I've actually
- 4:19Speaker 1: Never been to Langkawi, I think. Oh, time to go.
- 4:23Speaker 1: The last time I was there was a very long
- 4:25Speaker 1: time ago. So hopefully on day 3 when they do
- 4:27Speaker 1: the whole disembarkation to Langkawi, right, the crowd can mitigate.
- 4:31Speaker 1: So some go to Langkawi and some can go and
- 4:34Speaker 1: do all the rides and all the activities on board
- 4:37Speaker 1: may not even want to go down.
- 4:40Speaker 1: Take advantage of the fact that it's emptier. I mean,
- 4:42Speaker 1: if I'm staying on a suite, I'm gonna stay on
- 4:44Speaker 1: board the cruise. If I'm in a suite, I'm never
- 4:46Speaker 1: coming out, dude. Maybe just for a while you go
- 4:49Speaker 1: and eat. Oh yeah, aside, aside from eating and the rides,
- 4:52Speaker 1: I'm in my suite the whole way. It's probably the best. Yeah. OK,
- 4:55Speaker 1: a lot of weird things happening in Singapore lately. I
- 4:59Speaker 1: don't know whether it's because people are more like.
- 5:01Speaker 1: Um, efficient about reporting it nowadays compared to last time. Yeah,
- 5:04Speaker 1: you know what I'm sure there are plenty of, of course.
- 5:09Speaker 1: Just that the ones that go viral are always the
- 5:12Speaker 1: controversial and dramatic ones. So, um, this was over on, well,
- 5:17Speaker 1: it was on the roads and it looked like a highway, OK.
- 5:21Speaker 1: So this particular um car was, was sort of like
- 5:25Speaker 1: um sort of weaving back and forth, OK. So it
- 5:28Speaker 1: looked like it wasn't too stable, right?
- 5:31Speaker 1: And when I looked at the video, I was like, OK,
- 5:33Speaker 1: this is definitely something the driver's not paying attention or
- 5:37Speaker 1: like I don't know what's going on here. So you
- 5:40Speaker 1: are quite close because I think they're being investigated right now.
- 5:43Speaker 1: But um another layer to it was there was another video,
- 5:47Speaker 1: presumably of the people that were in that car. So
- 5:50Speaker 1: I think I'm still trying to, to piece it together
- 5:52Speaker 1: right now.
- 5:53Speaker 1: Two men were struggling on the expressway. They were like
- 5:56Speaker 1: in a tussle, OK. One of them looked like he
- 5:59Speaker 1: was wearing some sort of a uniform and he was
- 6:02Speaker 1: trying to stop this other guy. Did you see the video? Yeah, yeah.
- 6:06Speaker 1: So loads of speculation where someone was about to take
- 6:10Speaker 1: his own life. You think that was the case loads
- 6:13Speaker 1: of speculation about that. So this man was restraining the
- 6:16Speaker 1: other man.
- 6:17Speaker 1: Um, and it was at a bridge on the, you know,
- 6:19Speaker 1: the railing at the side of like the highway kind
- 6:21Speaker 1: of situation. So, um, according to videos that have been circulating, um,
- 6:26Speaker 1: the man had earlier gotten into a road accident along
- 6:29Speaker 1: the expressway, OK, presumably because of some bad driving over there. Um,
- 6:34Speaker 1: and I think the driver of the car that was
- 6:38Speaker 1: involved actually provided the dashcam footage. So it's being investigated
- 6:41Speaker 1: right now. Apparently, the guy that was, um,
- 6:45Speaker 1: That was responsible for this was shaking violently and he
- 6:49Speaker 1: had slurred speech as well. So I think people put
- 6:52Speaker 1: two and two together and are concerned that some substance
- 6:54Speaker 1: was involved, you know, this is scary, you know, this
- 6:56Speaker 1: is very scary. I mean ours are a little bit
- 7:00Speaker 1: risky with some errant drivers and now we've got to
- 7:03Speaker 1: deal with people on Kods, people drink driving.
- 7:06Speaker 1: Yeah, this is why I don't drive. Yeah, and I
- 7:11Speaker 1: think that there's a lot of speculation as to what
- 7:12Speaker 1: was thrown over the bridge as well. There was an
- 7:14Speaker 1: item that was seen being thrown over the bridge. They
- 7:16Speaker 1: are speculating, is it a, is it like a vape,
- 7:18Speaker 1: what's going on, you know. OK, let's see what the
- 7:21Speaker 1: official from the police. So far the driver has been arrested,
- 7:25Speaker 1: so I think investigations are ongoing.
- 7:28Speaker 1: Be safe people, you know, honestly, I think if you
- 7:30Speaker 1: can check in on your friends around you, I feel
- 7:33Speaker 1: like sometimes you don't really know what people are going
- 7:35Speaker 1: through and what's going on. That and also to drivers
- 7:38Speaker 1: who are tuned in right now, the morning shift is
- 7:42Speaker 1: not for everyone. We know this. You mean like the
- 7:44Speaker 1: overnight drivers, is it? Those who are doing overnight or
- 7:47Speaker 1: those who start at maybe say 5 or 6 a.m.
- 7:49Speaker 1: in the morning because sometimes grabbing to work or taking
- 7:53Speaker 1: a taxi to work, I can see.
- 7:55Speaker 1: Very tired and my new fear now is them falling
- 7:58Speaker 1: asleep on the wheel, which has happened one too many times.
- 8:01Speaker 1: You just gotta talk to them to keep them awake.
- 8:04Speaker 1: I mean, is not easy. I acknowledge that, especially if
- 8:07Speaker 1: you're doing it for long hours. So keep yourself awake,
- 8:10Speaker 1: maybe turn us up a little bit louder. Hello. So
- 8:14Speaker 1: earlier on I said, uh, something that will make you
- 8:16Speaker 1: smile here this morning. We know that here in Singapore,
- 8:19Speaker 1: efficiency is something that we pride ourselves in, right?
- 8:22Speaker 1: But every single time I see like um someone from
- 8:26Speaker 1: another country experience that and they're in awe, it makes
- 8:29Speaker 1: my heart swell. Does it? Do you feel the same way?
- 8:31Speaker 1: I mean, when people praise Singapore in their videos and
- 8:34Speaker 1: it goes viral on TikTok, I smile. Yeah, I smile too.
- 8:37Speaker 1: Welcome to Singapore. We love you. I mean there's been
- 8:39Speaker 1: plenty of those videos of people going like, wow, when
- 8:42Speaker 1: they like land in Jewel or like they see, you know,
- 8:44Speaker 1: all the beautiful things here. Um, this particular tourist did
- 8:47Speaker 1: a video that really popped off and went quite viral,
- 8:50Speaker 1: not the first of its kind, I will say.
- 8:52Speaker 1: Um, but apparently he cleared immigration in under 5 minutes,
- 8:57Speaker 1: and he was so impressed. He did a whole video
- 9:00Speaker 1: about how Singapore is built different, to which I think
- 9:03Speaker 1: it also reached, uh, reached audiences that have never visited
- 9:06Speaker 1: Singapore before. They've only heard of it. It's like, um,
- 9:08Speaker 1: you know, it, it almost seems like a, a law, right?
- 9:11Speaker 1: Like you don't even know what's going on there.
- 9:13Speaker 1: And it's like, is Singapore even real? That's the kind
- 9:15Speaker 1: of sentiment. So, 5 minutes to clear immigration. Trust me,
- 9:20Speaker 1: this did not happen when I was in Europe. And
- 9:23Speaker 1: JFK in New York City. I, I told you about
- 9:26Speaker 1: my experience um during the Tomorrowland weekend coming in and out.
- 9:30Speaker 1: It was
- 9:32Speaker 1: It was a nightmare to say the very least. By
- 9:34Speaker 1: the way, the Singapore passport, right, we have that little
- 9:36Speaker 1: logo at the front. If you're going to any country
- 9:39Speaker 1: that accepts e-passports, you can go there, yeah. Put in
- 9:42Speaker 1: extra effort, go and register for it so that you
- 9:45Speaker 1: can save all the time in the world, especially in Europe.
- 9:48Speaker 1: Can I just tell you, um, that's the thing, we
- 9:50Speaker 1: wanted to do that when we went to the machine
- 9:53Speaker 1: that's supposed to scan you broke down.
- 9:56Speaker 1: It's not working. So they filtered everyone to like go,
- 9:59Speaker 1: go line up in the end. That was the thing.
- 10:01Speaker 1: So we're like, guys, so we waited there for so
- 10:04Speaker 1: long for this video going viral, we say well done
- 10:06Speaker 1: to our friends over at ICA and also Singapore, right?
- 10:09Speaker 1: If there's one thing I can name.
- 10:11Speaker 1: That we got absolutely right. It's our airport. Oh yeah,
- 10:14Speaker 1: for sure. OK, so I'm going out joking right now
- 10:16Speaker 1: on air. I mean, I'm very used to it. It's
- 10:19Speaker 1: part of your contract at this point, right? You sign
- 10:21Speaker 1: off it every year. So what happened was we, we
- 10:25Speaker 1: left our studio, OK.
- 10:27Speaker 1: And usually, you know, sometimes there's some stuff that I
- 10:30Speaker 1: gotta do like wash my cups and all that, right? Like,
- 10:34Speaker 1: can I set the context first and defend myself, OK,
- 10:36Speaker 1: I haven't even said the story you want to defend yourself. Wait, wait.
- 10:40Speaker 1: So yesterday I was very drained from a long Tuesday.
- 10:43Speaker 1: I was quite tired and my social battery was 0.
- 10:47Speaker 1: Carry on the story. Thank you. I was also tired
- 10:49Speaker 1: and drained.
- 10:51Speaker 1: But between the two of us, Joakim always leaves me
- 10:54Speaker 1: to fend for us on behalf of us when it
- 10:57Speaker 1: comes to making small talk and socializing with people. Yes,
- 11:01Speaker 1: what do I get? Nothing. Nothing. So we were at
- 11:04Speaker 1: the pantry area, OK, and we were exiting already, about
- 11:07Speaker 1: to walk to the lift, and uh there was a
- 11:09Speaker 1: group of people that sort of showed up behind us
- 11:11Speaker 1: from another studio. Like we don't know them, we don't
- 11:13Speaker 1: know them. I think they were guests at another radio station.
- 11:16Speaker 1: So they were walking behind us, but you know, they
- 11:17Speaker 1: smiled at us as they walked through the corridor. We
- 11:20Speaker 1: said hi.
- 11:21Speaker 1: And then I was just gonna all carry on walking
- 11:23Speaker 1: to the lift with them la, behind them, right?
- 11:26Speaker 1: Suddenly Joakim yanks my arm. Hey, don't go first. Don't
- 11:29Speaker 1: go first. He said, stay here first. Then I was like, What?
- 11:33Speaker 1: Like does he know someone there that we don't, are
- 11:34Speaker 1: we not supposed to like someone there or what is it,
- 11:37Speaker 1: you know, because if my friend doesn't like someone, I
- 11:39Speaker 1: also don't like the person, right? Then, um, he said, No, no, no, um,
- 11:44Speaker 1: I got no social battery, so I don't want to
- 11:45Speaker 1: be stuck in a live with him.
- 11:48Speaker 1: He was like, I'm, I'm just gonna stay here first. Come, come, come, pretend,
- 11:52Speaker 1: pretend to take biscuit, ah, take snacks, take cookies. I
- 11:55Speaker 1: was like, dude, you are we like secondary school or what?
- 11:59Speaker 1: Those were my exact words, by the way, can't pretend
- 12:01Speaker 1: to take the biscuittend, pretend. Wow, the Julie's biscuit, very nice, delicious.
- 12:07Speaker 1: To which it got me wondering, right? I mean, admittedly,
- 12:09Speaker 1: I might have done that before, like maybe when I
- 12:13Speaker 1: take the trash out, I don't want to like make
- 12:14Speaker 1: small talk when I'm in my home clothes or something. OK, fine,
- 12:17Speaker 1: like fair enough.
- 12:18Speaker 1: But usually in like office settings or work settings, I
- 12:22Speaker 1: don't really try to avoid people. Clearly we're two very
- 12:25Speaker 1: different people, joking. I do, especially when my social battery
- 12:28Speaker 1: is just zero. Like after a show, most of the
- 12:31Speaker 1: time I wanna like take one hour for myself to
- 12:34Speaker 1: recharge again. I'm so sorry it's so draining for you.
- 12:41Speaker 1: I'm so sorry. It is not you. It's just who
- 12:44Speaker 1: I am as a person. Like, like after giving ourselves
- 12:47Speaker 1: on air, I want to just like take 1 hour
- 12:50Speaker 1: or half an hour to recharge as compared to being
- 12:53Speaker 1: in the lift and making small talk with people I
- 12:55Speaker 1: don't really know and I won't remember in 2 weeks.
- 12:57Speaker 1: You literally don't even talk. You leave it to me.
- 13:00Speaker 1: So like what is the difference? I mean, if it's
- 13:02Speaker 1: boss Janice or other colleagues, then it's OK because I'm
- 13:05Speaker 1: comfortable enough with them.
- 13:09Speaker 1: to show them a side of me that yes, I'm
- 13:11Speaker 1: tired and it's OK, they know. I mean, I think
- 13:15Speaker 1: the number of times you said like you need to
- 13:17Speaker 1: have or not, but if it's people I'm meeting for
- 13:19Speaker 1: the very first time and you know, first impressions count, right?
- 13:22Speaker 1: That's why I was like, can we not take the
- 13:24Speaker 1: lift with them, please because I'm very tired. I don't
- 13:26Speaker 1: want them to judge me based on no one's gonna
- 13:28Speaker 1: judge you the interaction. You never know, man. You know what,
- 13:31Speaker 1: it wasn't, it did not sound like that. It was like, hey,
- 13:33Speaker 1: don't go, don't go first.
- 13:35Speaker 1: Don't go stay here, stay here. That was literally how
- 13:37Speaker 1: he sounded. Give me a call at 669-11987 and tell us,
- 13:42Speaker 1: have you ever been in this situation where you intentionally
- 13:46Speaker 1: decided to hang back?
- 13:48Speaker 1: And maybe you drag your friend along with you because
- 13:49Speaker 1: you were trying to avoid someone or avoid people. You
- 13:53Speaker 1: avoid the lift, you avoid the ride home, let us
- 13:56Speaker 1: know or even WhatsApp us at 90050987. If you do
- 14:00Speaker 1: like your answer, what's coming your way? A dining experience
- 14:03Speaker 1: for two worth $256 all thanks to Pan Pacific.
- 14:09Speaker 1: Yeah, so this is Pan Pacific Orchard, and we're talking
- 14:11Speaker 1: about whether or not you intentionally sometimes hang back to
- 14:15Speaker 1: avoid certain people, be it at the office or maybe
- 14:18Speaker 1: your neighbors, you know, you just don't have it in
- 14:20Speaker 1: you to interact with them. Inspired by what I did yesterday. Yes,
- 14:24Speaker 1: and it's not the first time my social battery was
- 14:26Speaker 1: 0 and
- 14:28Speaker 1: Leaving the office, I saw a big group of people
- 14:30Speaker 1: going to the same lift lobby that Sonia and I
- 14:33Speaker 1: usually go to. So I yanked Sonia's arm, saying, Hey, Son, son, stay, stay, stay.
- 14:38Speaker 1: Don't wait. Yeah, stay, stay, stay. Let them go first,
- 14:41Speaker 1: then we go together, OK? I mean, I, I'm honest,
- 14:44Speaker 1: you can answer this honestly, OK. When is your social
- 14:47Speaker 1: battery 100%?
- 14:49Speaker 1: Actually, it's good. Like after a show when I'm meeting
- 14:53Speaker 1: new people at the show venue, OK, like at an event,
- 14:56Speaker 1: but you're still running on adrenaline and, but I will
- 14:59Speaker 1: say we've been out together many times and I can
- 15:02Speaker 1: see when the battery is draining.
- 15:05Speaker 1: Like I can literally visually see the battery draining and
- 15:09Speaker 1: when it's flat, I can tell. There are 2 places
- 15:11Speaker 1: or 3, OK, where I'm very comfortable to show where
- 15:14Speaker 1: I'm actually tired. Firstly, it's at home. Secondly, it's in
- 15:17Speaker 1: the office, and thirdly, it's next to Sonia.
- 15:20Speaker 1: She understands me. She will start thanking all the convos
- 15:22Speaker 1: for me. 100%. OK, but I want to say good
- 15:25Speaker 1: morning to Selena. Alright. Morning, Sonia and Joakim. Joakim, you
- 15:29Speaker 1: are very friendly. I met you twice before. See, you
- 15:33Speaker 1: caught him on a full battery day.
- 15:36Speaker 1: For sure. Saying hi to Joe. This happens frequently for me.
- 15:40Speaker 1: I have noisy neighbors. Sometimes I go out and I
- 15:43Speaker 1: see the neighbors waiting for the lift. I will pretend
- 15:45Speaker 1: like I forgot something and go back to the house,
- 15:48Speaker 1: but actually, I'm behind the door spying through the peephole
- 15:51Speaker 1: to make sure that the coast is clear before I leave.
- 15:53Speaker 1: I confess that I'm not that sociable. Most of the time.
- 15:56Speaker 1: I'm just too tired from small talk. Yeah, it's the
- 16:00Speaker 1: small talk that gets me. I don't mind smiling and
- 16:02Speaker 1: nodding at you. OK, fine. That's just one question. No
- 16:06Speaker 1: need to talk on the lift journey all the way down.
- 16:09Speaker 1: If the lift is from 4 to level 1, you
- 16:12Speaker 1: are done after the, oh, eaten already lift door open.
- 16:17Speaker 1: If you're coming from.
- 16:18Speaker 1: 20 good luck, dude. You're gonna have to come up
- 16:20Speaker 1: with some conversation. That's why my AirPods very handy. Just
- 16:23Speaker 1: plug in straight away and go into the lift without playing.
- 16:26Speaker 1: Talking about whether or not you are exactly like Joe,
- 16:29Speaker 1: where you try to avoid people, especially at the office,
- 16:33Speaker 1: walking to the lift, just like what happened yesterday when
- 16:36Speaker 1: he literally yanked me back and said,
- 16:40Speaker 1: Wait here, wait here. There's too many people at the lift.
- 16:43Speaker 1: I mean, it's the office lah. I'm allowed to feel
- 16:45Speaker 1: that way. But anyway, I wanna say hello to Marilynn
- 16:48Speaker 1: on WhatsApp. Morning, Sojo. There was this time when my
- 16:52Speaker 1: colleague and I were leaving from work but didn't want
- 16:54Speaker 1: to take the same lift as our supervisor as we
- 16:56Speaker 1: were late for our deadline of the work that she
- 16:59Speaker 1: asked us to complete. It's not about socializing. She will
- 17:03Speaker 1: give us more side work whenever she sees us. It
- 17:05Speaker 1: never ends. One more coming in from Anna.
- 17:09Speaker 1: I'm like Joakim, and sometimes as much as I love interactions,
- 17:12Speaker 1: there are times where I just need to recharge by myself.
- 17:15Speaker 1: The other day, there was a mandatory team bonding I
- 17:18Speaker 1: couldn't get out of, so I forced myself to go
- 17:21Speaker 1: and went for the free food. After I was full,
- 17:24Speaker 1: I did an Irish goodbye, the act of leaving a
- 17:26Speaker 1: social gathering or party discreetly without telling anyone or saying
- 17:30Speaker 1: a formal farewell. Yeah, I have a friend who's exactly
- 17:33Speaker 1: like that. She always does an Irish acit. Oh yeah,
- 17:36Speaker 1: you know who she is. I'll tell you later.
- 17:38Speaker 1: It's not me, is it? I hope not. My, my wedding,
- 17:42Speaker 1: you didn't Irish exit. You made it known that you
- 17:44Speaker 1: were leaving. Your wedding. I was Irish. The way I drank. Wow. Um,
- 17:48Speaker 1: saying hi to here. Funny, funny one here. You said,
- 17:51Speaker 1: I drive Grab and I talk a lot to my passengers.
- 17:53Speaker 1: I wanted to promote my other side businesses, ha ha,
- 17:57Speaker 1: but after a while, I found myself not talking to
- 17:59Speaker 1: passengers at all. I got tired of.
- 18:00Speaker 1: Promoting my own business, to which I said, What's your business?
- 18:05Speaker 1: Tell us. He said, Oh, I do like ID, cafe, bistro, and, uh,
- 18:09Speaker 1: crockery retail. OK, so like utensils and stuff. So, hey man,
- 18:14Speaker 1: like all the best for your side hustles. I really,
- 18:16Speaker 1: really admire that. Hey, but I must applaud the side
- 18:19Speaker 1: hustles of some Grab drivers. You know why? Sometimes they'll
- 18:21Speaker 1: put QR codes that you can.
- 18:24Speaker 1: Oh, is it more about your business. That's quite cute.
- 18:25Speaker 1: That's quite cute. Eileen is on the line right now.
- 18:28Speaker 1: What about you, Eileen? You know, for, for us, when,
- 18:30Speaker 1: whenever we see our big bosses, um, hanging around the lobby,
- 18:34Speaker 1: definitely for sure, we will not want to go there
- 18:37Speaker 1: because we do not want to have the elevator pitch
- 18:38Speaker 1: with them. And yeah, I mean, I will always pull
- 18:42Speaker 1: my colleague and likewise, my colleague will also pull me back. OK?
- 18:45Speaker 1: And I think this is.
- 18:46Speaker 1: This is quite common for everyone and then um as
- 18:50Speaker 1: for my husband, he is actually the senior management so
- 18:54Speaker 1: there was, yeah, so, so there was a time when
- 18:56Speaker 1: we went for the uh company trip. So during the
- 19:00Speaker 1: first day, um, we will have dinner together.
- 19:03Speaker 1: And everybody was actually standing, waiting to see where my
- 19:08Speaker 1: husband would sit. I told him, OK, you know, this
- 19:11Speaker 1: is what I do. I will always try to avoid
- 19:13Speaker 1: my boss. I mean, it's a fact though. I think
- 19:15Speaker 1: that's a universal thing, Joakim. There was one that just
- 19:18Speaker 1: came in, Sonny from FLD. I'm surprised that Joe is anti-social.
- 19:23Speaker 1: Job hazard of being with.
- 19:24Speaker 1: So many people often question mark. FLD, let me clarify something.
- 19:27Speaker 1: I'm not anti-social. If I'm out in the streets, you
- 19:30Speaker 1: see me, say hello, dab me up, fist bump. It's
- 19:33Speaker 1: the office, lah. OK, I think I suggest let's just
- 19:36Speaker 1: not saying this on air. Our bosses are 100% tuning in, dude.
- 19:39Speaker 1: They know I don't want to see anyone in the office,
- 19:42Speaker 1: except you. But don't use their broadcast channel to say that.
- 19:47Speaker 1: Just say it to me in private. More of your
- 19:50Speaker 1: messages coming through right now and uh we've been talking
- 19:53Speaker 1: about whether or not you find yourself in a situation
- 19:56Speaker 1: where you've tried to avoid people, either at the office,
- 19:59Speaker 1: at your estates, at home, outside. How did it work
- 20:03Speaker 1: out for you? One coming in from Q.
- 20:06Speaker 1: Morning, Sojo. For me, it was the other way around.
- 20:09Speaker 1: The other day my friend and I were in the
- 20:11Speaker 1: lift heading out for lunch, and we saw a group
- 20:13Speaker 1: of friends coming over through our peripheral view. As we
- 20:16Speaker 1: were so drained that day, we decided to have a
- 20:19Speaker 1: small group lunch and she massively spammed the closed door
- 20:22Speaker 1: button instead.
- 20:25Speaker 1: To shut the door before anyone else comes in, is it?
- 20:27Speaker 1: I guess so. OK. Um, one message here, quite hilarious one. Yeni,
- 20:31Speaker 1: good morning. He said, hey, Sonia and Joakim, someone in
- 20:34Speaker 1: my office building uncannily arrives and leaves the premises at,
- 20:37Speaker 1: at the same time, almost daily. It started to creep
- 20:41Speaker 1: me out and I was low-key worried he was stalking me.
- 20:44Speaker 1: I changed my arrival and departure timings. It worked for
- 20:46Speaker 1: a while. One day, the lift door was about to
- 20:49Speaker 1: close before it reopened, and he came in OMG as
- 20:53Speaker 1: if it couldn't be more dramatic. The lift suddenly stopped
- 20:56Speaker 1: working while we were on the way down, and we
- 20:58Speaker 1: were plunged in darkness. Both of us froze, and there
- 21:01Speaker 1: was no movement or sound from either of us. Thankfully,
- 21:04Speaker 1: my brain started working again, and I turned on my
- 21:06Speaker 1: phone's torchlight. The first thing he said to break the
- 21:09Speaker 1: silence was unexpected and hilarious.
- 21:12Speaker 1: He said, Why have you been stalking me? What do
- 21:15Speaker 1: you want? I LOL so hard. I told him that
- 21:18Speaker 1: I was wondering the same thing about him as well. TLDR,
- 21:21Speaker 1: we chatted for more, for the remaining one hour that
- 21:24Speaker 1: we were stuck in a lift, and now we actually
- 21:26Speaker 1: go to have lunch together and go out from time
- 21:28Speaker 1: to time. Let's see how this goes. He he. Hey,
- 21:32Speaker 1: I was gonna say, is he or she not your
- 21:33Speaker 1: husband or wife.
- 21:35Speaker 1: Not yet, but she ended it with, let's see how
- 21:37Speaker 1: this goes. That's really cute. What a cute, cute story.
- 21:42Speaker 1: I wouldn't mind being stuck in a lift with a
- 21:44Speaker 1: complete stranger. She's a lady. You see, you see, you see.
- 21:48Speaker 1: If you didn't hang back yesterday, maybe there was a
- 21:52Speaker 1: girl in the group there that was in the lift
- 21:54Speaker 1: that you might have been. It was a big group
- 21:55Speaker 1: of 6. It's OK. OK.
- 21:58Speaker 1: You never know. If it's still got a chance. Yeah,
- 22:01Speaker 1: you gotta take the chance, man. This is the universe cooking,
- 22:03Speaker 1: you know. Yeah, I will take the chance if she's alone,
- 22:05Speaker 1: not with 6 people in the same lift. I cannot.
- 22:08Speaker 1: That also sounded a bit creepy when you said that,
- 22:10Speaker 1: you know what I mean cackling and having so much
- 22:12Speaker 1: fun reading out your messages and getting your calls right now.
- 22:15Speaker 1: I'm all inspired by Joakim pulling, literally physically pulling me
- 22:19Speaker 1: back yesterday, just so that we could avoid, um, spending
- 22:23Speaker 1: time with strangers in the lift.
- 22:25Speaker 1: He literally physically was like, stop, stop, stop here, stop
- 22:28Speaker 1: here for a while. Disclaimer before anyone thinks that I'm anti-social, no,
- 22:32Speaker 1: I actually am very, very friendly. Just that in the
- 22:35Speaker 1: office and at home and sometimes next to Sonia at events, OK,
- 22:40Speaker 1: events that involve plenty of small talk, I cannot, cannot.
- 22:44Speaker 1: I want to say hi to Jerry before we go
- 22:46Speaker 1: back for our final phone call here. Hey, Sonia and Joakim,
- 22:49Speaker 1: this topic is so on point for me. I was
- 22:51Speaker 1: walking to my office building from the MRT station. I
- 22:54Speaker 1: saw my boss at least 10 steps in front of me.
- 22:56Speaker 1: To avoid taking the same lift as my boss, I
- 22:59Speaker 1: detoured to Mr. Bean and ended up getting a pancake.
- 23:03Speaker 1: Perfect excuse, man. Yeah, at least you got something out
- 23:05Speaker 1: of it, right? Some of the cheese or peanut butter pancake. Oh,
- 23:08Speaker 1: I love the cheese one. OK, last but not least, Aaron,
- 23:11Speaker 1: what about you?
- 23:14Speaker 2: Yes, so we are staying at a new BTO estate,
- 23:17Speaker 2: and one day my husband and I just parked the
- 23:20Speaker 2: car and we realized that our opposite neighbor parked at
- 23:23Speaker 2: the same time. Uh, and so in a bid to
- 23:27Speaker 2: avoid them we decided, OK, let's get back inside the car.
- 23:30Speaker 2: Car and then my husband was trying so hard to
- 23:34Speaker 2: unlock the car and then yeah, the car decide it's
- 23:36Speaker 2: the best time to act up and it was alarming
- 23:40Speaker 2: so loudly the whole car park was listening to the
- 23:43Speaker 2: car alarming and yeah, I'm pretty sure the, the, I'm
- 23:48Speaker 2: sure the neighbors didn't see us, yeah, but yeah, a
- 23:50Speaker 2: baby was there also he's like 8 months old now,
- 23:53Speaker 2: but yeah, at that point in time he was 6 months.
- 23:56Speaker 1: Oh gosh, girl, so not worth it.
- 23:58Speaker 1: I, I, I was about to say what a way
- 24:00Speaker 1: to introduce yourself to everyone in your estate, but OK,
- 24:03Speaker 1: at least your neighbors didn't see you, so all good.
- 24:05Speaker 1: I mean, I'm pretty sure they did. I'm sure they
- 24:08Speaker 1: noticed 100%. And yo, this is so relatable, man. There
- 24:12Speaker 1: will always be that person or that person within us,
- 24:15Speaker 1: I feel, that will try to avoid people out there. Sometimes, yeah, sometimes,
- 24:20Speaker 1: not all the time, because I feel attacked.
- 24:23Speaker 1: No, no, no, I admittedly, I told you I do
- 24:25Speaker 1: this sometimes when I'm trying to take the trash out
- 24:27Speaker 1: at my house. Actually, there are a couple of instances
- 24:32Speaker 1: where you yanked my arm and said, Joe, wait, wait, wait, wait.
- 24:35Speaker 1: A couple of times this happened in our, in our
- 24:38Speaker 1: don't like me.
- 24:40Speaker 1: Not guest, I think there have been occasions where you
- 24:42Speaker 1: say Julius be here for a while, yeah, I want
- 24:43Speaker 1: to just be alone for a while or like too
- 24:45Speaker 1: much people. I remember you saying this one phrase to
- 24:48Speaker 1: me quite some time back. Anyway, we found ourselves a winner,
- 24:51Speaker 1: and it goes to Yenny. Congratulations, Yenny.
- 24:55Speaker 1: And you are, well, bringing your potential future boyfriend to
- 24:59Speaker 1: this place, Pan Pacific Orchard Hotel, Marcela embracing the Mediterranean culture.
- 25:04Speaker 1: Visit them Pan Pacific Orchard on Instagram and you can
- 25:07Speaker 1: even enjoy their 3.5 hour brunch on the weekend. So,
- 25:11Speaker 1: it being the end of August, we are fast approaching
- 25:14Speaker 1: something else in the month of September. I know it's
- 25:17Speaker 1: like Apple's version of National Day Rally and to which
- 25:21Speaker 1: all Singaporeans.
- 25:23Speaker 1: Lalia, Laila, September 10th at 2 a.m. Singapore time. That
- 25:29Speaker 1: is where the Apple event will be happening. You can
- 25:31Speaker 1: watch it live on Apple TV if I'm not wrong. Oh, nice.
- 25:35Speaker 1: And I'm very sure that a lot of your favorite
- 25:37Speaker 1: like tech creators as well will be doing some live updates. Yes.
- 25:41Speaker 1: So the rumors are a foldable iPhone. Could the Apple
- 25:45Speaker 1: Ring come out? I mean, I don't know, maybe. You
- 25:47Speaker 1: know what I'm most looking forward to.
- 25:49Speaker 1: Apple glasses, it's in the rumor mill, and I really
- 25:53Speaker 1: hope they launch one, but I want to see which
- 25:55Speaker 1: brand they partner with because Oakley has Meta. Uh, Ray-Bans
- 26:00Speaker 1: has Meta as well, if I'm not wrong, Meta glasses.
- 26:02Speaker 1: Let me think. Gentle Monster, and who was it? Was
- 26:05Speaker 1: it Samsung, or someone else? I don't recall actually. I
- 26:08Speaker 1: don't know if Gentle Monster has a no, no, no,
- 26:09Speaker 1: they do, they do. They are working like an Android one. Google,
- 26:12Speaker 1: is it? No, no. Google has their own. I could
- 26:14Speaker 1: be wrong. You know what? With Apple, they'll come up
- 26:16Speaker 1: with their own. I feel.
- 26:17Speaker 1: like they won't partner up with another brand. They'll just
- 26:19Speaker 1: come up with their own Apple Glass. I feel, I feel.
- 26:23Speaker 1: They just make their own, yeah, they'll just make it. Anyway, um,
- 26:26Speaker 1: we'll keep you updated. That's all we know for now.
- 26:28Speaker 1: Just got to lock that date down and if you
- 26:30Speaker 1: happen to be awake at 2 a.m. that time, then
- 26:32Speaker 1: you'll be the first in the world to see what's
- 26:34Speaker 1: going on. Alright, let's see.
