- 1:00Speaker 4: Juicy Scoop.
- 1:03Speaker 2: Hello and welcome to Juicy Scoop. I have one of
- 1:06Speaker 2: your favorite guests. You know her from her hit podcast,
- 1:10Speaker 2: Reality Life with Kate Casey, my friend for many years,
- 1:14Speaker 2: Kate Casey. We're back together.
- 1:17Speaker 4: I know.
- 1:18Speaker 2: Mother of five, married, dance mom, soccer mom, lacrosse mom, whatever. Also...
- 1:27Speaker 2: Here to talk some juicy scoop. So I love it.
- 1:30Speaker 4: Well, first I want to say I missed your party
- 1:32Speaker 4: because I was at a lacrosse tournament in Salt Lake City.
- 1:34Speaker 2: A lot of people thought we were no longer friends.
- 1:35Speaker 3: What?
- 1:36Speaker 4: No, just kidding. I want to just say 10 years.
- 1:41Speaker 4: It like freaking flew by, man.
- 1:43Speaker 3: Aw.
- 1:43Speaker 4: Didn't it fly by?
- 1:44Speaker 2: Um....
- 1:46Speaker 1: No.
- 1:47Speaker 4: It was a hot minute ago. We were in like
- 1:49Speaker 4: the Wondery studio on Sunset.
- 1:52Speaker 2: No, it does. It's like, you think about like your
- 1:54Speaker 2: life where it's like, it really is in chapters. So
- 1:58Speaker 2: it's like, there's, you know, life, there's a bit, the
- 2:01Speaker 2: main chapter is life before getting married at 29 to
- 2:07Speaker 2: then there's the chapter, you know, between marriage and working
- 2:11Speaker 2: at Chelsea Lately. Then there's the Chelsea Lately chapter. Now
- 2:13Speaker 2: this chapter is, longer than that chapter.
- 2:16Speaker 4: Yeah. Yeah.
- 2:17Speaker 2: Cause it's 10 years and that was only seven and
- 2:19Speaker 2: a half years. And so it's like, you know, And
- 2:22Speaker 2: then eventually I will get to a place where I've
- 2:25Speaker 2: been married longer than I wasn't, which will be very
- 2:28Speaker 2: weird when that happens. But right now, yeah, no, it's
- 2:32Speaker 2: been great. You did miss a fun one. You would
- 2:34Speaker 2: have enjoyed many of the guests because it's all people
- 2:37Speaker 2: we love and have fun. We were regular people that
- 2:40Speaker 2: were guests and then there was like, you know, my
- 2:42Speaker 2: favorite podcaster people that have come on my show like you.
- 2:45Speaker 2: And so, but yeah, it was really fun. I'm really
- 2:47Speaker 2: glad I did it. Those type of things do kind
- 2:51Speaker 2: of like, It stressed me out, but I'm always happy
- 2:54Speaker 2: once the party happened. And I still have to go
- 2:57Speaker 2: through all the photos and post some, but it's all good.
- 3:00Speaker 4: Well, it's been a big year.
- 3:01Speaker 2: You had a lot to celebrate. A lot going on.
- 3:03Speaker 2: How was your 4th of July?
- 3:04Speaker 4: I don't even remember. I don't even remember what I
- 3:09Speaker 4: did yesterday because I have so many kids. I don't know.
- 3:13Speaker 4: We were in town and running around. I have that
- 3:17Speaker 4: kind of house that there are just people in and
- 3:19Speaker 4: out all the time, so the days kind of blend together.
- 3:21Speaker 2: Well, I think that's kind of great. Well, I was
- 3:23Speaker 2: out where I live in Westlake. We went on a
- 3:27Speaker 2: boat on the lake and it wasn't really even that crowded.
- 3:30Speaker 2: I guess it gets crazier later. It was really fun.
- 3:33Speaker 2: Here are my friends looking cute. But then I went
- 3:36Speaker 2: on the TikTok at night and there were some interesting
- 3:39Speaker 2: TikTok stuff I found. Okay. The first one, I think
- 3:43Speaker 2: that this girl actually reposted this guy. Her name is
- 3:46Speaker 2: Karma Ladder. Anyway, she posted it saying, let's find April.
- 3:49Speaker 2: So this guy goes, if your name is April, And
- 3:54Speaker 2: your friends were on the train from Penn Station to
- 3:57Speaker 2: Montauk this Tuesday going out for the 4th of July.
- 4:01Speaker 2: They hate you. So the video is of this very
- 4:04Speaker 2: animated young guy who's like, I was just listening to
- 4:09Speaker 2: this conversation and for the entire ride out there, they're
- 4:12Speaker 2: using you for your Montauk house. They actually hate you.
- 4:15Speaker 2: So then this girl we posted was like, we need
- 4:18Speaker 2: to find April. And then the comments were like, maybe
- 4:22Speaker 2: April is the problem. And it's like, It's so amazing
- 4:25Speaker 2: because we've seen the ones where it's like, if your
- 4:28Speaker 2: boyfriend is, or your husband is on a flight from
- 4:32Speaker 2: Houston to Denver, he is.
- 4:35Speaker 4: Flirting, you know, I was.
- 4:38Speaker 2: Watching him flirt with this girl the whole time until
- 4:40Speaker 2: you called and I saw him turn it off and
- 4:43Speaker 2: then heard him say, Hey, I landed. Can't wait to
- 4:45Speaker 2: see you, baby. Like all that kind of stuff is,
- 4:48Speaker 2: is just like crazy. Yeah.
- 4:52Speaker 4: And is it possible that he made this up? Cause
- 4:54Speaker 4: if he did, it's kind of brilliant.
- 4:56Speaker 2: I do think there's a lot of viral TikToks that
- 4:59Speaker 2: when I think this is too, like where someone acts
- 5:01Speaker 2: like they're filming a cooking thing and then some crazy
- 5:03Speaker 2: thing happens and it has like 3 million views, then
- 5:06Speaker 2: people will go fake button. And this, I know this couple,
- 5:10Speaker 2: they do this stuff. It's acted and whatever. It could be,
- 5:16Speaker 2: it could be, but also it's, it's, we've all, we've
- 5:19Speaker 2: done that. And sometimes you just think like, You know, whatever,
- 5:23Speaker 2: like who the Uber driver is not going to say
- 5:25Speaker 2: anything or whatever. And you're just like talking shit. But
- 5:29Speaker 2: if this is true and if this is April, I
- 5:33Speaker 2: feel so badly for her.
- 5:36Speaker 4: It must be easy to find her. How many people
- 5:38Speaker 4: are named April that have a house in Montauk?
- 5:41Speaker 2: Right. That has like young friends that are like staying
- 5:44Speaker 2: there because they don't like you, but they're going. Yeah.
- 5:49Speaker 2: And it's like some things like I'm like, I think, God,
- 5:52Speaker 2: are we ever going to get to a place? where
- 5:55Speaker 2: you can read people's thoughts or ai or something because
- 5:58Speaker 2: i'm like i don't want to know what everyone's thinking
- 6:00Speaker 2: about me every moment i don't want to know.
- 6:02Speaker 5: I don't know ignorance is bliss i mean podcasting is
- 6:05Speaker 5: bad enough that people will be like hey uh your
- 6:07Speaker 5: friend was talking about you on the podcast and then
- 6:09Speaker 5: i can go and listen and hear what they said
- 6:12Speaker 5: or it was.
- 6:13Speaker 4: At the 14 minute mark too they're like they like
- 6:15Speaker 4: to give you specifics i.
- 6:17Speaker 2: Mean you i'm already hearing like Oh my God, I heard,
- 6:20Speaker 2: you know, back in our day, we used to, real
- 6:23Speaker 2: evil bitches would do a three-way call.
- 6:25Speaker 4: Yes.
- 6:25Speaker 2: And have, and bait the friend to talk behind your
- 6:28Speaker 2: back and then you'd hear it. And it was so devastating.
- 6:31Speaker 2: And the thing is, women especially do talk shit behind
- 6:36Speaker 2: each other's back. And it's more of a vent. And
- 6:40Speaker 2: it doesn't mean that they want to end the friendship
- 6:43Speaker 2: or that they don't love you or that they wouldn't
- 6:45Speaker 2: be there in a heartbeat.
- 6:46Speaker 4: You just want to get it off their chest.
- 6:47Speaker 2: The point is, you're not meant to ever hear it.
- 6:50Speaker 2: And the same thing goes, and we see it now
- 6:52Speaker 2: in reality shows because it's like, we got to make
- 6:54Speaker 2: some shit happen. So I'm going to go to you, Kate,
- 6:57Speaker 2: we're all to show together and tell you what just
- 7:00Speaker 2: happened on the lunch where they said, they thought, you know,
- 7:04Speaker 2: it was really rude that you didn't have a sandwich
- 7:06Speaker 2: ready for their son on the play date. And now
- 7:08Speaker 2: we're going to talk about this for the next. So
- 7:10Speaker 2: you have, they have to do it on that to
- 7:12Speaker 2: start shit. But in real life, you wouldn't bring that
- 7:15Speaker 2: up to your friend because it would be hurtful. Like,
- 7:17Speaker 2: why would you? And so this is just, and then
- 7:20Speaker 2: to have it like kind of go a viral thing
- 7:23Speaker 2: and someone know that it's April and probably if we
- 7:26Speaker 2: find April, people are going to be like, girl, I'll
- 7:28Speaker 2: be your friend.
- 7:29Speaker 4: I'll never talk shit. This is what I think.
- 7:30Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 7:31Speaker 4: A genius way to get a show greenlit. If you're
- 7:34Speaker 4: that guy, maybe you made the deck about an ensemble
- 7:37Speaker 4: show and Montauk. And this is what was your way to,
- 7:41Speaker 4: for it to get like, get some peaks. some interest
- 7:43Speaker 4: from a network.
- 7:45Speaker 2: Way to make the lemonade into a reality show.
- 7:48Speaker 4: I would make it into a reality show.
- 7:50Speaker 2: I mean, yeah, I mean, it is, it's like a
- 7:52Speaker 2: summer house thing, but it is true. I mean, they're
- 7:55Speaker 2: from people of all ages sometimes are friends with people
- 7:59Speaker 2: or stay longer friends with people because there's some other
- 8:03Speaker 2: thing that they bring to the table besides their lack
- 8:06Speaker 2: of a personality or they're a great personality. Like, you know,
- 8:08Speaker 2: you're like, if they have a great personality, it doesn't
- 8:10Speaker 2: matter if they lose their home or whatever. If you don't,
- 8:13Speaker 2: if you're not totally connected, you're like, let me just
- 8:15Speaker 2: make sure that person's still in the Christmas card get
- 8:17Speaker 2: list or whatever. Some people do that. I don't, but like,
- 8:21Speaker 2: I can see why people do it. Especially if you're
- 8:23Speaker 2: a young girl.
- 8:24Speaker 4: It's actually the bane of my existence. I hate it
- 8:26Speaker 4: when I'm somewhere and I can, and I, it's so
- 8:30Speaker 4: clear that. That somebody has zero personality and the only
- 8:34Speaker 4: reason that they're around is because someone wants access to
- 8:37Speaker 4: something that they have.
- 8:38Speaker 2: Their yacht or whatever.
- 8:39Speaker 4: I have no tolerance for it. I'm like, I'm not
- 8:42Speaker 4: going to participate in this nonsense. Like, kissing someone's ass
- 8:45Speaker 4: because they feel like they can get something out of them.
- 8:47Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 8:48Speaker 4: I'm like, they have zero, they're not bringing anything to
- 8:50Speaker 4: the table. Right.
- 8:51Speaker 2: You guys are not a jive or whatever.
- 8:54Speaker 4: Like, what are you doing?
- 8:55Speaker 2: Yeah, it's, anyway, so that was crazy. Then there was
- 8:58Speaker 2: this other thing that went viral where this Woman is
- 9:02Speaker 2: bawling in her car.
- 9:03Speaker 4: Oh, I hate these.
- 9:05Speaker 2: And she said that her son's friend's mother invited her
- 9:11Speaker 2: to a barbecue on Fourth of July and was like, oh,
- 9:17Speaker 2: I'm going to something.
- 9:18Speaker 4: Come.
- 9:19Speaker 2: So I think she and she brought her son and
- 9:22Speaker 2: the woman had her son, too. And she made a
- 9:25Speaker 2: beautiful anti... How do you say? Antipasta?
- 9:31Speaker 4: Antipasta.
- 9:32Speaker 2: It is antipasta. I'm saying it right. Like anti-aging.
- 9:35Speaker 3: Okay.
- 9:35Speaker 2: Antipasta salad. I've never made one.
- 9:38Speaker 4: Or antipasta. Antipasta.
- 9:40Speaker 2: I think it's antipasta. Anyway, you know, in a thing
- 9:43Speaker 2: that could stay there like a tin. And it looked
- 9:45Speaker 2: very nice. She's like, I spent $ 40 on this thing.
- 9:48Speaker 2: I got the good meats. Right. Everything. So she goes...
- 9:51Speaker 2: And these people are Southern because I saw... She goes
- 9:54Speaker 2: to it and she's crying and she's like, I got
- 9:57Speaker 2: there and they were like, who are you?
- 10:00Speaker 4: Are you?
- 10:00Speaker 2: What are you doing here? And then the girl was like,
- 10:04Speaker 2: I just, I thought like, you know, and she like
- 10:08Speaker 2: was so taken aback and it wasn't a huge party,
- 10:11Speaker 2: but it still was a gathering of like at least
- 10:13Speaker 2: 12 people. And she's like, she, the girl invited me.
- 10:18Speaker 2: I didn't know. Like I, And then this other person's like,
- 10:20Speaker 2: who are you? You didn't even introduce yourself. We don't
- 10:22Speaker 2: know who you are. This isn't a party. It's a
- 10:25Speaker 2: gathering of people that all know each other. What are
- 10:27Speaker 2: you doing here? She left the salad. She's hysterically crying.
- 10:29Speaker 2: Her like 10-year-old boys try to comfort her. And I
- 10:32Speaker 2: was like, oh my God. So now that's gone viral.
- 10:34Speaker 2: And so the woman, the people found out who the
- 10:40Speaker 2: assholes were.
- 10:41Speaker 4: Good. This is another reality show I want to watch.
- 10:43Speaker 2: And then that girl's like, hi. Okay, it's me. Let
- 10:47Speaker 2: me just tell you what happened.
- 10:48Speaker 4: This is a reality show.
- 10:48Speaker 2: This was a party that we had. It wasn't actually
- 10:51Speaker 2: a party. It was gathering people that we knew. Wait,
- 10:53Speaker 2: who says this is.
- 10:54Speaker 4: A gathering of people we know? Who says that?
- 10:57Speaker 2: Yeah, she's like, we did not know who she was.
- 10:58Speaker 2: She was not saying who she was. I'm sorry, but like,
- 11:02Speaker 2: it was just awkward. It was really, really awkward. And,
- 11:04Speaker 2: you know, we do not deserve this kind of, you know,
- 11:08Speaker 2: online bullying or whatever. Like, I don't know what you
- 11:11Speaker 2: were thinking. Like, anyway, she made it worse. That girl
- 11:13Speaker 2: made it worse. So it's still going. Wow. Good news
- 11:16Speaker 2: is now this girl is able to make money off
- 11:18Speaker 2: her TikToks. That's the final end of the story. But like,
- 11:22Speaker 2: it was.
- 11:22Speaker 4: This is, I swear to you, this is the new
- 11:24Speaker 4: way people get shows greenlit.
- 11:26Speaker 2: I think, I do think 4th of July parties can
- 11:31Speaker 2: be weird because some of them, you get invited to
- 11:34Speaker 2: one or your husband goes, we're going to our friend's house.
- 11:37Speaker 2: And I'm like, What time is the party? I don't know.
- 11:40Speaker 4: Husbands are the worst.
- 11:42Speaker 2: Is it 12 to 4? Is it for the fireworks?
- 11:47Speaker 2: I mean, nobody wants to serve multiple meals for the day.
- 11:49Speaker 2: So when is this party? Is it a bigger deal?
- 11:53Speaker 2: Like you can pop in and out.
- 11:56Speaker 3: No one will know.
- 11:56Speaker 2: Are we going to walk in and it's going to
- 11:58Speaker 2: be a small gathering of people who know each other?
- 12:00Speaker 2: Like is it going to be kind of like, oh, fuck,
- 12:02Speaker 2: now we're stuck here. Now this isn't that fun and
- 12:04Speaker 2: we're stuck. Like people need to know. I do agree.
- 12:08Speaker 2: Connie needs to know. But obviously, an afternoon barbecue, I
- 12:13Speaker 2: would think you could bring a fellow mom. Like, and
- 12:16Speaker 2: it wouldn't be. The woman that brought her was very
- 12:18Speaker 2: sweet and apologetic. But that is, I was like, this
- 12:21Speaker 2: is awkward and fucking weird.
- 12:23Speaker 4: I do like it's like a conversation starter. Because anywhere
- 12:26Speaker 4: you go and you bring up this topic, people could
- 12:29Speaker 4: riff on it for like an hour.
- 12:31Speaker 2: It is a weird thing when you're like, oh, hey.
- 12:33Speaker 4: Hi. Yeah.
- 12:35Speaker 2: How you doing? Like that video, like that little person
- 12:38Speaker 2: that shows up.
- 12:39Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 12:39Speaker 2: That's how it was. It's like, like, why are you here? Yeah.
- 12:42Speaker 2: It was very much that.
- 12:44Speaker 3: One reward.
- 12:45Speaker 2: Endless choice. Skip the hassle. Reward the easy way.
- 13:11Speaker 3: I'm Darman, and this is What Happens Next. Each week
- 13:15Speaker 3: on the show, I sit down with extraordinary people who
- 13:18Speaker 3: have faced tremendous setbacks and yet somehow have found a
- 13:22Speaker 3: way to turn them into their greatest strengths.
- 13:25Speaker 6: Life is one long lesson of chaos.
- 13:28Speaker 4: I'm heading to the Emmys, and I have police complaints
- 13:30Speaker 4: filed against me.
- 13:31Speaker 1: When your free will was about to be taken from you,
- 13:34Speaker 1: what would you do if it was given back?
- 13:36Speaker 6: Where did that need come from where you thought that
- 13:39Speaker 6: you had to succeed in order to feel loved?
- 13:41Speaker 2: He said, I have a work dad.
- 13:42Speaker 3: I need a home dad.
- 13:43Speaker 6: What happens next?
- 13:45Speaker 2: When I came in, he started crying.
- 13:46Speaker 6: Everybody in life encounters hardships. What defines them is not
- 13:51Speaker 6: those hard moments that they go through. It's about what
- 13:53Speaker 6: happens next.
- 13:55Speaker 2: I decided to risk it all. I realized how valuable
- 13:57Speaker 2: every day was. You're worth the work.
- 13:59Speaker 4: Listen, Dara, I'm not going to pull punches.
- 14:01Speaker 2: You can use your voice even if it's shaped.
- 14:03Speaker 3: The stories are different, but the impact is the same.
- 14:07Speaker 3: Only one question matters. What happens next?
- 14:17Speaker 2: Um, I, I know you're not totally up on and
- 14:20Speaker 2: just like that. And I know people are like, Heather,
- 14:22Speaker 2: stop telling me about this show. It fucking sucks. We
- 14:25Speaker 2: are done. Stop it. I'm not going to do a
- 14:27Speaker 2: full recap, but something extremely juicy happened in the last
- 14:30Speaker 2: episode that you as a connoisseur of television and production
- 14:35Speaker 2: needs to know what the fuck happened. It's criminal. Okay.
- 14:38Speaker 4: By the way, do you remember the time that you,
- 14:40Speaker 4: you sent me like a video and.
- 14:44Speaker 2: You were like, Oh, my God.
- 14:46Speaker 4: I just want to say I'm just really emotional because
- 14:49Speaker 4: you had just been on a plane. You were like,
- 14:51Speaker 4: I realized that I have Sex and the City friends.
- 14:53Speaker 4: And you were like, you're my Miranda. Do you remember that?
- 14:57Speaker 4: I was drunk.
- 14:58Speaker 2: That's who I'm like? You are a little bit Miranda
- 15:02Speaker 2: in her best time of Sex and the City because
- 15:04Speaker 2: she was funny and cynical. Now she's like goofy and dumb.
- 15:09Speaker 4: Don't like it.
- 15:09Speaker 2: And to speak about Miranda, this will piss you off, too. Okay.
- 15:13Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 15:13Speaker 2: So... In this next thing, she, you know, falls in
- 15:17Speaker 2: love with Che Diaz. They break up. She's now just
- 15:20Speaker 2: living a lesbian life. She's got this boring BBC girlfriend.
- 15:24Speaker 2: She introduces her son to him. That's all fine. However,
- 15:28Speaker 2: once she left Steve, Miranda, once she left him, she
- 15:33Speaker 2: had to live with this other character that they just
- 15:34Speaker 2: aren't talking about anymore, who was a professor, okay? Okay.
- 15:37Speaker 2: So she was literally couch surfing, as you'd say. She was, like,
- 15:40Speaker 2: living on the girl's couch. Then she.
- 15:44Speaker 2: It's at an Airbnb that has like weird people in
- 15:47Speaker 2: the building across the way. Then she goes to Carrie,
- 15:51Speaker 2: who never thought to offer her one of her four bedrooms.
- 15:56Speaker 2: Carrie is with Aiden, back with Aiden. After Big died,
- 16:00Speaker 2: Aiden never wanted to go back into her old apartment
- 16:04Speaker 2: because she'd kept her old apartment because that's where she
- 16:06Speaker 2: had cheated on Aiden.
- 16:08Speaker 4: He's still thinking about that?
- 16:10Speaker 2: No, but it's going to get to the juicy part.
- 16:13Speaker 2: So she buys this, she's got money from Big's death.
- 16:17Speaker 2: She buys this beautiful four bedroom townhome. It's probably like
- 16:21Speaker 2: $ 20 million and thinking that they're going to get together
- 16:25Speaker 2: and he and his three sons will have rooms. While Miranda,
- 16:29Speaker 2: she's talking to her on the phone every day, having
- 16:31Speaker 2: lunch with, saying her horrible time at the Airbnb with
- 16:34Speaker 2: this guy who came out with a meat cleaver and
- 16:36Speaker 2: was naked and screaming at her.
- 16:37Speaker 4: Oh my God.
- 16:38Speaker 2: She goes, I forgot I have these extra rooms. Would
- 16:40Speaker 2: you like to stay in one? Well, then she comes
- 16:43Speaker 2: and she eats her yogurt and her last Mexican Coke.
- 16:45Speaker 2: So she goes, you know what? I do think I
- 16:46Speaker 2: need to find a place. Can Seema the realtor help me?
- 16:50Speaker 2: All of a sudden, Seema finds her a great house.
- 16:52Speaker 2: And she goes, so here's the deal, Miranda. If you
- 16:56Speaker 2: want this apartment, it's a whisper listing. And I know
- 17:00Speaker 2: for a fact that you can get it, but they
- 17:02Speaker 2: want $ 150, 000 over asking. So I'm like, wait a minute.
- 17:06Speaker 4: Real estate.
- 17:07Speaker 2: She's going to pay $ 150, 000 over asking. We're talking this
- 17:09Speaker 2: is at least close to $ 2 million. So she had
- 17:12Speaker 2: $ 2 million to buy a house as a single woman
- 17:15Speaker 2: for the last two years.
- 17:16Speaker 4: I was going to ask that.
- 17:17Speaker 2: And she hasn't even... Because no other realtor but Seema
- 17:22Speaker 2: in New York City can find her a freaking place
- 17:25Speaker 2: for $ 2 million.
- 17:27Speaker 4: Super annoying. Is she still an attorney?
- 17:31Speaker 3: No.
- 17:31Speaker 2: She now is trying to be a commentator on the
- 17:33Speaker 2: BBC with her girlfriend who's a lesbian.
- 17:36Speaker 4: Which makes you about, what, four Skittles in your bank account?
- 17:39Speaker 4: How does that make sense?
- 17:41Speaker 2: So then getting back to the part that you're going
- 17:45Speaker 2: to freak out about. Okay.
- 17:46Speaker 5: Okay.
- 17:47Speaker 2: No, actually I'm going to tell, I'm going to tell
- 17:49Speaker 2: the Aiden part and then I'm going to tell the
- 17:50Speaker 2: freak out part. So just to make sure I don't
- 17:52Speaker 2: forget the freak out part. Aiden has a fucked up kid. Okay.
- 17:56Speaker 2: So that's why they're like, we're going to get together
- 17:58Speaker 2: in five years. He, the kid was supposed to go
- 18:01Speaker 2: off to wilderness camp for a week.
- 18:02Speaker 4: Well, we know how those go.
- 18:03Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 18:04Speaker 2: And then he comes and to be romantic, he throws
- 18:07Speaker 2: a stone and it breaks her glass that has never
- 18:10Speaker 2: been replaced since, since it was built in 1754 or
- 18:14Speaker 2: whatever it is. So she's like, Oh, well, I mean,
- 18:17Speaker 2: And he goes, it's okay. I'm so sorry. I'll fix it.
- 18:19Speaker 2: And she's like, I mean, you can't fix it. It
- 18:22Speaker 2: makes little waves when the sun comes through it. It's
- 18:25Speaker 2: a rainbow. And he's like, oh, now you're making me
- 18:28Speaker 2: feel worse. Like, I don't make you feel worse. It's just,
- 18:31Speaker 2: it lived through the revolution and this war and that war.
- 18:35Speaker 2: And I'm like, okay. So just so he tries to
- 18:40Speaker 2: find the glass, whatever. And then all of a sudden
- 18:42Speaker 2: he's like, I slept with Kathy, his ex-wife. She was
- 18:48Speaker 2: really bummed that the fucked up kid didn't want to
- 18:50Speaker 2: go on a plane to the wilderness camp. And I
- 18:53Speaker 2: guess we just comfort each other and we slept with
- 18:55Speaker 2: each other.
- 18:55Speaker 4: And she goes, these things don't happen.
- 18:57Speaker 2: And she goes, okay, I guess I can weirdly understand.
- 19:03Speaker 2: And he's like, you're not mad? And she's like, no.
- 19:06Speaker 2: Everyone is like, wait, what? Okay, so the only fun
- 19:11Speaker 2: thing about watching a show is when you go on and.
- 19:13Speaker 4: Hear- Well, this is for invite gay men because gay men,
- 19:15Speaker 4: they would be fine with that, but women wouldn't. Or chat.
- 19:17Speaker 2: A lot of people think it's AI chat, GPT. I
- 19:20Speaker 2: think it's real writers who are fucking lazy because I'm
- 19:23Speaker 2: going to tell you what happened. Or is this, are
- 19:27Speaker 2: they going to get me wet by the end of
- 19:29Speaker 2: the season when they are actually, if Samantha was here, okay,
- 19:35Speaker 2: if Samantha was here, she'd be like, Oh, come on.
- 19:39Speaker 2: Aiden's been playing the long revenge for the last 20 years.
- 19:42Speaker 2: You cheated on him with Big.
- 19:44Speaker 4: Got it.
- 19:44Speaker 2: He's now cheating on with he may have not even
- 19:47Speaker 2: slept with Kathy but he's trying to fuck with your
- 19:49Speaker 2: brain you sold your great apartment now you have a
- 19:51Speaker 2: four bedroom house that he broke the window up get
- 19:54Speaker 2: with it yeah like that was what a good friend
- 19:57Speaker 2: would say she'd be they'd be like what the fuck
- 19:59Speaker 2: are you doing totally I'm like And also, if it
- 20:02Speaker 2: did happen, which I'm hoping it didn't, I hope he's
- 20:05Speaker 2: just playing a long game of revenge. Why can't, I
- 20:08Speaker 2: would have wanted to see that scene, just like we
- 20:10Speaker 2: saw the scene when Carrie decides to cheat with Big
- 20:14Speaker 2: and he throws her up against the wall in the
- 20:16Speaker 2: elevator and they're in, I mean, that was like a
- 20:18Speaker 2: moment where everybody watching that was like, this is so good.
- 20:23Speaker 2: This is so juicy. I would rather see Aiden and
- 20:27Speaker 2: the character of Kathy be like, What are we going
- 20:29Speaker 2: to do? And then and then have sex and then
- 20:32Speaker 2: be like, oh, my God, I just cheated on my boyfriend.
- 20:34Speaker 2: You have Carrie. This can never happen again. What are
- 20:37Speaker 2: we going to do? So if I wanted to turn
- 20:39Speaker 2: out that they actually didn't cheat, he's been doing the
- 20:41Speaker 2: long revenge. And he is seeing if she if he
- 20:45Speaker 2: can gaslight her into freaking the fuck out. I don't know.
- 20:49Speaker 4: I'm still stuck it. Why would you want to have
- 20:51Speaker 4: sex with your ex? Like once people have children with
- 20:55Speaker 4: someone and they go through a divorce, like I always
- 20:58Speaker 4: find that so hot factor totally disappears. It's gone, baby, gone.
- 21:02Speaker 2: They do it. They did it in the Jon Hamm
- 21:05Speaker 2: Friends and Neighbors show, too.
- 21:06Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 21:07Speaker 2: And I'm like, no. Yeah, I would think. I mean,
- 21:10Speaker 2: I always think that I'm like always like, how could
- 21:12Speaker 2: you even sleep in the same bed if you like
- 21:14Speaker 2: hated your spouse that much? No.
- 21:16Speaker 4: Very strange.
- 21:17Speaker 2: So now I'm going to get to the part that's
- 21:19Speaker 2: going to. Oh, by the way, Kathy, the girl who
- 21:22Speaker 2: plays his. ex-wife.
- 21:24Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 21:25Speaker 2: Thanks to the people that are obsessed with the show.
- 21:28Speaker 2: This is where I'm like, how lazy are you writers?
- 21:31Speaker 2: Casting director, I understand you made friends with these guest
- 21:33Speaker 2: stars 20 years ago and you might have dinner with
- 21:35Speaker 2: them and you might want to throw them a bone
- 21:37Speaker 2: so they can keep their health insurance. However, Kathy was
- 21:40Speaker 2: cast as Miranda's boss at a law firm in one
- 21:44Speaker 2: of the scenes and she and another partner reprimanded her
- 21:47Speaker 2: for taking too much time off to be with her
- 21:49Speaker 2: kid 25 years ago.
- 21:52Speaker 4: You just Rain Man them.
- 21:54Speaker 2: And they, I didn't come up with this. Someone else
- 21:56Speaker 2: caught it. So thank you to the internet that caught it.
- 21:58Speaker 2: And now she's an artist. No mention. That would have
- 22:02Speaker 2: been juicy. It would have been juicy. For the fans,
- 22:05Speaker 2: the only people watching this are the people that are
- 22:07Speaker 2: super fans of Sex and the City. So how funny
- 22:09Speaker 2: would it have been or cool for Miranda going, and
- 22:12Speaker 2: how weird that Aiden married my old boss.
- 22:15Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 22:15Speaker 2: That is weird. Small New York world, I guess. Like
- 22:18Speaker 2: some reference.
- 22:19Speaker 4: They're missing a lot.
- 22:19Speaker 2: Because they did use the same bank loan woman.
- 22:24Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 22:24Speaker 3: And that.
- 22:25Speaker 2: And they sort of referenced it. So I'm like, okay,
- 22:27Speaker 2: that's fun. But then they forgot that they cast Kathy before.
- 22:30Speaker 2: Kathy probably never wanted to say, hey, by the way,
- 22:32Speaker 2: you guys probably, because she wants the part.
- 22:33Speaker 4: She just wants to, yeah, she's excited about being in play.
- 22:35Speaker 2: She's probably like, I don't know if this matters. Like, no.
- 22:37Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 22:38Speaker 2: Okay, now get ready for your mind to be blown.
- 22:40Speaker 4: Now, by the way, at this point, why haven't the
- 22:43Speaker 4: writing staff of the show come on this podcast?
- 22:46Speaker 2: They have their own podcast, but any of you are welcome.
- 22:48Speaker 2: I am telling you, I will Zoom. I will do anything.
- 22:51Speaker 2: I need to know what is the long game here?
- 22:54Speaker 2: Is Aiden doing long revenge? Can Miranda maybe sleep with
- 23:00Speaker 2: the writer who carries love interest downstairs? I pushed that
- 23:04Speaker 2: last week that I wanted to have a threesome happen.
- 23:06Speaker 2: There's so many juicy shit that could happen. What are
- 23:09Speaker 2: you setting up for? This past episode was super boring. Okay.
- 23:13Speaker 2: So now get ready for your mind to be blown. Okay.
- 23:16Speaker 2: This character, Lisa, who is a documentarian, she turns off
- 23:20Speaker 2: her phone. Because she's flirting with her editor, who is
- 23:24Speaker 2: the least prototype of a documentarian editor ever.
- 23:28Speaker 4: This is already a boner killer. Documentary filmmakers, hot and heavy.
- 23:31Speaker 4: This is not happening.
- 23:32Speaker 2: And he looks like a male model that used to
- 23:34Speaker 2: play professional baseball.
- 23:36Speaker 4: This doesn't happen. Okay.
- 23:37Speaker 2: So anyway, she's flirting with him. She turns off her phone.
- 23:40Speaker 2: The husband shows up to tell her, your phone was off.
- 23:43Speaker 2: Your dad had a stroke and died.
- 23:45Speaker 4: This is like so.
- 23:47Speaker 2: Okay. Hold on.
- 23:48Speaker 3: Wow.
- 23:48Speaker 2: First season when Big died. She called Charlotte and said,
- 23:55Speaker 2: when my dad died, my hands were shaking. Her dad
- 24:00Speaker 2: died in season one. Her dad showed up alive in
- 24:03Speaker 2: season two for a dinner. And now the dad is
- 24:06Speaker 2: dying again. No reference of a stepdad. No reference of
- 24:10Speaker 2: this is my biological dad. No reference of this is
- 24:12Speaker 2: my father-in-law. Every time it was written, it was my dad.
- 24:16Speaker 2: My dad died. My dad's coming to dinner. My dad
- 24:19Speaker 2: died again. So then when we watched it, yes. So
- 24:22Speaker 2: then we watched it the second time. And she even
- 24:24Speaker 2: called Charlotte to tell her that her, that was the
- 24:28Speaker 2: first person she called to say, my dad just died.
- 24:30Speaker 2: And Charlotte goes, oh my God, I'm so sorry. So
- 24:31Speaker 2: then when we watched it the second time, because I
- 24:33Speaker 2: have to watch it a second time because I'm usually
- 24:35Speaker 2: buzzed and fall asleep. I watched it a second time
- 24:37Speaker 2: with my sister and I go, so I kept adding
- 24:39Speaker 2: lines like again, I'm so sorry.
- 24:42Speaker 1: How did this happen?
- 24:43Speaker 2: I mean, I've had dreams where my dad comes back
- 24:45Speaker 2: alive in the kitchen. I'm like, dad, we already buried you.
- 24:47Speaker 2: And he's like, no, this is literally one of my dreams.
- 24:50Speaker 2: So then we have this long scene with this theatrical
- 24:54Speaker 2: woman who runs his theater, the dad's theater. And this
- 24:57Speaker 2: weird scene where that woman doesn't like Lisa. And Lisa's like,
- 25:03Speaker 2: I should be planning my dad's funeral. And she's like,
- 25:05Speaker 2: I've run your dad's theater group for 20 years. And
- 25:09Speaker 2: she's like, nice purse. She's really dramatic.
- 25:11Speaker 4: Okay.
- 25:11Speaker 2: This black woman. And I guess she was on Fresh
- 25:14Speaker 2: Prince of Bel-Air or whatever. Again, who does she know
- 25:17Speaker 2: does she need to get her health insurance? Why did
- 25:18Speaker 2: we have this long scene? It was so fucking boring.
- 25:21Speaker 2: And so she goes... Oh, this is my coach. Your
- 25:25Speaker 2: bag is nice, which is some expensive bag. But what
- 25:28Speaker 2: about my bag? And it's a Michael Kors, okay? So
- 25:32Speaker 2: there's all these jokes that it's a Michael Kors purse,
- 25:36Speaker 2: which is way lower than her purse, which I thought
- 25:38Speaker 2: was very rude.
- 25:38Speaker 4: Well, that's something trending on TikTok right now.
- 25:41Speaker 2: About Michael Kors?
- 25:42Speaker 4: Yeah, it's like putting down Michael Kors.
- 25:45Speaker 2: I don't know how much Michael Kors paid to also
- 25:47Speaker 2: be on this show, but it was weird. And then
- 25:49Speaker 2: they're eating at like a chicken and waffle place.
- 25:51Speaker 4: I would assume he's infuriated by that.
- 25:52Speaker 2: And then- She goes, can I have some hot sauce?
- 25:55Speaker 2: Lisa says, can I have some hot sauce? And the
- 25:57Speaker 2: woman goes, I have it. I keep it in my
- 25:58Speaker 2: Michael Kors and brings out a bottle of hot sauce
- 26:01Speaker 2: this big.
- 26:02Speaker 4: This is all kinds of wrong.
- 26:04Speaker 2: All kinds of wrong. Am I right?
- 26:06Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 26:07Speaker 2: Who is writing for the black characters? This is Crazy.
- 26:12Speaker 2: So then they go and the funeral is very long
- 26:15Speaker 2: and it's kind of funny, whatever. There's a couple of
- 26:17Speaker 2: chuckles in it. It's weird, but we're like, this is
- 26:20Speaker 2: a character that no one cares about except how pretty
- 26:22Speaker 2: she is.
- 26:23Speaker 4: Okay.
- 26:23Speaker 2: Nobody cares about her character, what she's doing. And the
- 26:26Speaker 2: fact that, that she didn't say when she got the script, OK,
- 26:30Speaker 2: I just you guys do remember first season I did.
- 26:34Speaker 2: We filmed me saying that my dad had died. So
- 26:36Speaker 2: is this my stepdad?
- 26:37Speaker 3: No.
- 26:38Speaker 4: But why is the onus on her? It's the onus
- 26:41Speaker 4: is on the executive producer.
- 26:42Speaker 6: Yes.
- 26:43Speaker 4: Sarah Jessica Parker.
- 26:45Speaker 3: Yes.
- 26:45Speaker 2: Sarah said on Howard Stern or one of the shows,
- 26:48Speaker 2: one of the podcasts that she doesn't watch it.
- 26:51Speaker 4: This is all kinds of wrong.
- 26:53Speaker 2: Why do I, who is not an executive producer, why
- 26:56Speaker 2: do I have to watch it twice because I'm so
- 26:58Speaker 2: fucked up and weird?
- 26:58Speaker 4: But we can't put the onus on an actor that
- 27:00Speaker 4: is just trying to.
- 27:02Speaker 2: No, it's not. But I'm saying even if the writers sucked,
- 27:05Speaker 2: me as an actor would kind of remember what I've
- 27:08Speaker 2: done on the show. And I would have been like.
- 27:10Speaker 4: But it's a power imbalance.
- 27:13Speaker 6: Okay.
- 27:13Speaker 2: I know. But I'm just, how? Yeah. How is it
- 27:16Speaker 2: that nobody, no editor, nobody.
- 27:19Speaker 4: So I'm like, how? It's lazy.
- 27:21Speaker 2: I think if this was written by AI, they would
- 27:23Speaker 2: have caught it, honestly. So who are these writers writing it?
- 27:27Speaker 2: I need, and they say they have a podcast and
- 27:30Speaker 2: they apparently toot their own horn during it. So I
- 27:34Speaker 2: need that. If they don't address this and go, oh
- 27:37Speaker 2: my God, we realized it was the original dad that
- 27:40Speaker 2: died was her father-in-law and she just called him my dad.
- 27:43Speaker 2: We're so sorry that there was a confusion. You think they're.
- 27:46Speaker 4: Like high while they're making this show.
- 27:49Speaker 2: Or they're just like, fuck it. And instead of having 12,
- 27:52Speaker 2: 14-hour days like you normally do when you're writing a
- 27:55Speaker 2: top show in a writer's room, maybe they're having like
- 27:58Speaker 2: a three-hour day. And maybe they're doing the bare minimum.
- 28:01Speaker 4: Bare minimum.
- 28:02Speaker 2: I don't know. But I need to share how weird
- 28:04Speaker 2: that was. So here's the girl, Kathy. Yeah, same person. Wait,
- 28:10Speaker 2: that's Kathy? Yeah, that's when she was.
- 28:13Speaker 4: That's hot Kathy that he had to be with again.
- 28:16Speaker 2: Yeah, but she does look cute, but she's supposed to
- 28:19Speaker 2: be a lawyer. She's supposed to be a bitchy lawyer here.
- 28:21Speaker 2: Now she's an artist.
- 28:23Speaker 1: Okay.
- 28:23Speaker 2: Also, Mr. Big, who was the impetus for Candace Bush...
- 28:29Speaker 2: Who she was in love with. He wasn't a finance
- 28:31Speaker 2: guy like Chris Knoth. He was like an editor-in-chief of
- 28:34Speaker 2: like something Condé Nast, like some big time, some big
- 28:38Speaker 2: role there. Anyway, he's alive and well living in Vermont.
- 28:41Speaker 2: And I think this is a New York magazine.
- 28:44Speaker 4: That's him.
- 28:45Speaker 2: That's him. And people were really disturbed by his outfit
- 28:48Speaker 2: and his Crocs.
- 28:49Speaker 4: And they're like, oh, God, I didn't see them. Hold on.
- 28:51Speaker 4: I got to calibrate.
- 28:52Speaker 2: And they're not even new Crocs. I mean, and black
- 28:55Speaker 2: socks and black socks. So like you're doing a photo
- 28:58Speaker 2: shoot agreeing to be on this thing and and you're
- 29:01Speaker 2: married and your wife didn't say black sweatpants and old Crocs.
- 29:06Speaker 4: She's sick of them. She doesn't even she's just can't
- 29:08Speaker 4: stand them.
- 29:09Speaker 2: That wife is like, please.
- 29:11Speaker 4: She's like, listen, if I have to hear one more
- 29:12Speaker 4: time about how you were Mr. Big, I'm going to
- 29:15Speaker 4: throw myself somewhere like, please.
- 29:17Speaker 2: The new you mean the current wife? Yeah, you're probably right. OK,
- 29:21Speaker 2: let's talk about this show also on HBO. A lot
- 29:25Speaker 2: of people have been talking about this is Mariska Hargitay's
- 29:29Speaker 2: documentary that she did about her mother, Jane Mansfield, who
- 29:34Speaker 2: was a huge blonde bombshell, came up after Marilyn Monroe,
- 29:39Speaker 2: but was around after Marilyn Monroe's death for a few
- 29:42Speaker 2: years before she tragically died in a car accident. She was,
- 29:48Speaker 2: at this point, her career had struggled. She had five
- 29:53Speaker 2: kids at this point, four, we find out, four different fathers.
- 29:59Speaker 2: but they thought there were only three different fathers. She,
- 30:02Speaker 2: to make herself stay relevant and whatever, she basically became
- 30:07Speaker 2: Countess Luanne. She started to do like cabaret shows and
- 30:10Speaker 2: they're like, are you a singer? And she's like, I
- 30:12Speaker 2: can sing and I can tell stories. So she was
- 30:15Speaker 2: doing a nightclub act and she had a driver from
- 30:19Speaker 2: the nightclub taking her and her three kids. I don't
- 30:23Speaker 2: think she, she didn't bring the baby. She and her
- 30:25Speaker 2: three kids, and she didn't have her older daughter there either.
- 30:28Speaker 4: Yeah, it was the two brothers and Mariska.
- 30:31Speaker 2: Leaving at like midnight to drive for two hours to
- 30:33Speaker 2: go to the next gig where she had a show
- 30:35Speaker 2: the next day. And this current boyfriend of hers, who
- 30:39Speaker 2: was her divorce attorney from the last husband, and they
- 30:43Speaker 2: get in a horrible car accident. And the three of
- 30:46Speaker 2: them who were in the front seat, the three adults
- 30:48Speaker 2: were in the front, they died. And the three kids
- 30:51Speaker 2: in the back were all injured. Which is amazing. I
- 30:55Speaker 2: don't want to tell everything that happened to the show
- 30:57Speaker 2: because there's some like kind of very interesting surprises. But
- 31:02Speaker 2: so well done. And she's so grateful for the response
- 31:06Speaker 2: that she's getting and the interviews and what she's posting.
- 31:11Speaker 2: And I didn't... When I first saw like Rosie Dahl
- 31:14Speaker 2: and people being like, it's so good and crying, I
- 31:16Speaker 2: wasn't like running to watch it. But then more and
- 31:18Speaker 2: more people were like, it's just amazing. And it was.
- 31:21Speaker 2: It was so.
- 31:23Speaker 2: Interesting, the photo she chose, the time, the era. I
- 31:27Speaker 2: didn't know much about Jane Mansfield, just on the name
- 31:29Speaker 2: and that she was sexy and pretty. Mm-hmm. And that
- 31:33Speaker 2: famous photo with her at a like big, you know,
- 31:37Speaker 2: back then people had natural breasts. So if you had
- 31:39Speaker 2: big natural breasts and a tiny waist and a tiny ass,
- 31:43Speaker 2: you were special because you couldn't go down the street
- 31:45Speaker 2: and buy it. Just like Pamela Anderson's smile couldn't be bought.
- 31:49Speaker 2: So it was like there were only a few people
- 31:51Speaker 2: that just really like captured the world with their look.
- 31:56Speaker 2: And she was one. And so that all was like
- 32:00Speaker 2: very fascinating. What did you think of it?
- 32:03Speaker 4: Well, I loved that you learned that she was really bright.
- 32:09Speaker 2: Very brilliant.
- 32:10Speaker 4: And very talented, that she could play two different instruments.
- 32:13Speaker 2: Spoke four languages.
- 32:14Speaker 4: Yeah, and a prodigious reader. And it saddened me that
- 32:19Speaker 4: she is seen just for sort of this like dumb
- 32:23Speaker 4: blonde persona when in fact she was very multi-layered. And
- 32:27Speaker 4: I really liked that Mariska talked about her conflicted feelings
- 32:31Speaker 4: growing up. because she looked different than her mother. And
- 32:35Speaker 4: she is obviously very bright and just wrestling with her
- 32:39Speaker 4: mother's identity within their family of origin, but also identity
- 32:45Speaker 4: within the world. So as she's gotten older, I think
- 32:48Speaker 4: this was the best time for her to make this
- 32:50Speaker 4: because she's more at peace with herself and that I
- 32:54Speaker 4: think opened the door for her to really understand her
- 32:57Speaker 4: mom's real story. It made me sad that... Because it
- 33:01Speaker 4: hasn't changed that much about how a woman's career in
- 33:04Speaker 4: Hollywood is so fleeting.
- 33:06Speaker 2: So short, yeah.
- 33:07Speaker 4: And how she was the breadwinner. She had five kids,
- 33:10Speaker 4: which was extremely unusual at that time. And the pressure,
- 33:15Speaker 4: financial pressure she probably felt. And then also she was
- 33:19Speaker 4: only 34 when she died. So by the way, she
- 33:21Speaker 4: became famous at like 21. Self-made, didn't have any connections.
- 33:25Speaker 2: And had a baby at 16.
- 33:26Speaker 3: 16.
- 33:26Speaker 2: That she never like, sent to a farm so she
- 33:31Speaker 2: could do a movie. Like she always was the mom.
- 33:34Speaker 2: She got rid of the husband if he didn't want
- 33:35Speaker 2: to be part of that. She like had a baby
- 33:37Speaker 2: and was living in like Knoxville or something and was like, no,
- 33:42Speaker 2: I'd like to be a movie star like them and
- 33:44Speaker 2: I'm going to do it. And the three of us
- 33:45Speaker 2: are going to go to California. And then the husband
- 33:47Speaker 2: was like, yeah, I'm out of here. And she's like, fine, bye.
- 33:50Speaker 2: And had so much confidence in herself and then meets
- 33:54Speaker 2: this casting director who was smart and said, We're going
- 33:59Speaker 2: to utilize your– like you have a crazy body that
- 34:02Speaker 2: you don't even realize how good it is. And we're
- 34:05Speaker 2: going to make you blonde like Marilyn Monroe. And she
- 34:08Speaker 2: basically imitated Marilyn Monroe from the voice to everything. And
- 34:12Speaker 2: I think that– I always remember when Tina Fey won
- 34:16Speaker 2: an Emmy for 30 Rock or something. And she was
- 34:21Speaker 2: up against Julia Louis-Dreyfus for maybe Veep or something like that.
- 34:25Speaker 2: And she was like, and I love you, Julia. And,
- 34:27Speaker 2: you know, they both were started on SNL. And she goes,
- 34:30Speaker 2: I basically have been imitating you. Like she said it
- 34:34Speaker 2: in her speech. Like I just matched your comedic timing
- 34:40Speaker 2: and I kind of took on that. And, you know,
- 34:43Speaker 2: everyone kind of laughed, but I mean, it's when, same
- 34:47Speaker 2: with Lisa Kudrow, when she talked about, I decided, oh,
- 34:50Speaker 2: I would like to do comedy. She saw John Lovitz,
- 34:53Speaker 2: who was her brother's friend at the Groundlings, and she
- 34:56Speaker 2: just finished Vassar, and she was going to go on
- 34:57Speaker 2: and be like a doctor. And then she was like, no,
- 35:00Speaker 2: I can do this. And she would watch sitcoms, and
- 35:02Speaker 2: she learned the math and the cadence of timing and jokes,
- 35:05Speaker 2: and then, of course, came up with her own brilliance
- 35:09Speaker 2: and her own very unique funniness that has made her
- 35:12Speaker 2: star all these years. But that was the right thing
- 35:15Speaker 2: to do at the time. She was smart. She was,
- 35:17Speaker 2: she was not you. And then she said that she goes,
- 35:20Speaker 2: I use what I had to like get in the door.
- 35:22Speaker 2: Now I want to do other things, but it was
- 35:26Speaker 2: too hard to transition at that point. Like she was really,
- 35:30Speaker 2: but she was a good actress.
- 35:31Speaker 4: She really was like the Paris Hilton before.
- 35:33Speaker 3: Yes.
- 35:33Speaker 2: Paris Hilton.
- 35:34Speaker 4: She was so savvy about the marketing, um, She would
- 35:38Speaker 4: set up paparazzi shots. She was meticulous about all the clips.
- 35:43Speaker 4: She was always talking to her publicist about these are
- 35:46Speaker 4: the outlets I need to get into. Setting up scenes
- 35:49Speaker 4: that she knew would, for lack of a better term,
- 35:53Speaker 4: be viral for the time. So she was, I think,
- 35:58Speaker 4: if you look at Jane Mansfield next to Paris Hilton,
- 36:01Speaker 4: you have greater respect for Paris Hilton for how savvy
- 36:05Speaker 4: she is about marketing her brand.
- 36:07Speaker 2: Yeah. Oh, definitely. And, you know, so it's like just
- 36:11Speaker 2: the way the same way Kim Kardashian copied Paris. Like
- 36:15Speaker 2: it's like it's there. You don't have to reinvent the
- 36:18Speaker 2: wheel and you should use your assets. And then once
- 36:20Speaker 2: you get to a certain level, you then have the ability. Unfortunately,
- 36:24Speaker 2: with her through the difficult marriages and stuff, she her
- 36:29Speaker 2: looks did start to fade, even though she's only 34.
- 36:32Speaker 2: By the end, she wasn't looking good. as snatched as
- 36:35Speaker 2: you'd say, or as lovely, as beautiful. And, you know,
- 36:38Speaker 2: she wasn't getting picked for the movies. And even towards
- 36:41Speaker 2: the end, they had like a version of like the
- 36:44Speaker 2: European uncut version where basically she was now going to
- 36:47Speaker 2: do nudity for these movies because she'd like such the
- 36:50Speaker 2: bag and body. And all of it was just, you know,
- 36:53Speaker 2: when you see a lot of documentaries, which I always
- 36:55Speaker 2: joke about how like we never watched documentaries until like
- 36:58Speaker 2: 10 years ago. And now that's all we watch. A
- 37:01Speaker 2: lot of them, we didn't need a documentary on this.
- 37:04Speaker 3: You know what I mean?
- 37:05Speaker 2: Like, I was just kind of like.
- 37:06Speaker 4: Well, we need maybe one, but not four of the
- 37:08Speaker 4: same topic.
- 37:08Speaker 2: Or sometimes you watch one and you're like, this is
- 37:11Speaker 2: a little premature.
- 37:12Speaker 4: I don't know if this 25-year-old.
- 37:14Speaker 2: Needs a documentary. I don't know if this particular story
- 37:17Speaker 2: was that juicy to constitute one. I get it. These
- 37:22Speaker 2: things get greenlit and production needs to happen, but you're like...
- 37:25Speaker 2: But this one was like, it really was done so... Well,
- 37:30Speaker 2: and I know you interview so many producers and directors
- 37:33Speaker 2: of this. And it's like I want to talk to
- 37:36Speaker 2: you about because I was like, I really think the
- 37:39Speaker 2: way it went for two hours, the way it kept
- 37:42Speaker 2: your interest, the way she'd bring in different characters at
- 37:46Speaker 2: that time. And there were a lot of questions I
- 37:48Speaker 2: have at the end, but I understand it was two hours,
- 37:50Speaker 2: you know, like.
- 37:52Speaker 4: Well, she had a female team. I think that's really important.
- 37:55Speaker 4: Because the overwhelming response that I see, and I know
- 37:59Speaker 4: what I felt, I watched it when I was in
- 38:01Speaker 4: Salt Lake and just cried. It resonates so deeply with
- 38:06Speaker 4: women about identity and pursuing dreams and having children and
- 38:13Speaker 4: our ability to manage stressful life circumstances. Like, it just...
- 38:21Speaker 4: I just think it resonated so deeply. And I think
- 38:23Speaker 4: having the team of women around her made such a difference.
- 38:26Speaker 1: Yes.
- 38:27Speaker 4: You need women to tell women's stories.
- 38:29Speaker 2: Yeah. And I also thought it was interesting when she
- 38:31Speaker 2: was asking her older brother, like, did you know, you know,
- 38:35Speaker 2: like what an unusual life this was to have a
- 38:37Speaker 2: heart shaped pool, live in Beverly Hills. And he was like, no,
- 38:40Speaker 2: how would we know? Right. Like a privileged kid like that,
- 38:45Speaker 2: especially back then who isn't on the phone. You know,
- 38:48Speaker 2: like if the Kardashian kids never had access to TVs
- 38:52Speaker 2: or phones, they would probably be like, doesn't everybody have
- 38:57Speaker 2: a bunch of guys sweating in cargo shorts around them?
- 39:00Speaker 2: Like how would, they wouldn't know any difference. Just like
- 39:02Speaker 2: the Truman Show. You wouldn't know any, like, it's like,
- 39:06Speaker 2: so they were just, I thought that was super, I
- 39:09Speaker 2: thought it was super interesting.
- 39:10Speaker 4: Didn't you just love the family?
- 39:12Speaker 2: Yeah, I thought it was so great that- I thought
- 39:16Speaker 2: it was so great that there were these, you know,
- 39:18Speaker 2: several half siblings from different, which I don't want to
- 39:22Speaker 2: give it all away, but there were some just really
- 39:23Speaker 2: like interesting, lovely moments. And I love that she. you know,
- 39:31Speaker 2: dealt with like, oh my God, because, you know, I
- 39:32Speaker 2: had like such like the, the bimbo type of a
- 39:35Speaker 2: mom and she didn't know her because she died when
- 39:38Speaker 2: she was three. And, but obviously she was, you know,
- 39:43Speaker 2: obsessed with her kids and bar this thing from like
- 39:46Speaker 2: a Joan Crawford. Yeah. You know, like it was just
- 39:49Speaker 2: and I think about like what would have happened to
- 39:52Speaker 2: Marilyn Monroe had she not died? You know, she was
- 39:56Speaker 2: a bigger star. She was just starting to get like
- 39:59Speaker 2: real acting roles. But would that have continued or would
- 40:03Speaker 2: it have been like Sunset Boulevard? Like would it not
- 40:05Speaker 2: have continued because it was that time?
- 40:07Speaker 4: She was really brilliant. I would assume that she would.
- 40:11Speaker 2: But think about the era, though.
- 40:12Speaker 5: I know.
- 40:12Speaker 2: Like, I mean, would she have really become Reese Witherspoon
- 40:15Speaker 2: or would she really become like a director of things?
- 40:18Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 40:18Speaker 4: I think she would probably would have been a writer.
- 40:20Speaker 4: She was really brilliant. You know, I think about Natalie
- 40:23Speaker 4: Wood so much.
- 40:25Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 40:25Speaker 4: It's like that documentary on HBO about Natalie Wood. Every
- 40:28Speaker 4: time I watch it, I have like a guttural response,
- 40:32Speaker 4: like deep cry, because I think had she not died,
- 40:36Speaker 4: she would have run studios. Robert Redford says, I owe
- 40:41Speaker 4: my whole career to her. There were so many people
- 40:43Speaker 4: that she was so important in their career and people
- 40:50Speaker 4: just don't even realize it. So I think a lot
- 40:53Speaker 4: of these women probably would have been very powerful in
- 40:55Speaker 4: terms of being a writer or even moving to the
- 41:00Speaker 4: business side of it, like for a studio.
- 41:04Speaker 2: You know, I know, like I said, I know the
- 41:06Speaker 2: story that the documentary was A two hour movie, you know,
- 41:12Speaker 2: and it was done perfectly to focus on her mom.
- 41:16Speaker 2: But I mean, if I was lucky enough to have
- 41:20Speaker 2: Mariska on this show, I would be like, I want
- 41:25Speaker 2: to know more about your stepmom.
- 41:27Speaker 4: She seems wonderful.
- 41:29Speaker 2: And it's interesting because as a stepmom myself, I have
- 41:34Speaker 2: a joke in my act where I'd be like, where
- 41:36Speaker 2: are the stepmoms at? And literally I'll have, you know,
- 41:38Speaker 2: a thousand people in the audience and it's like, Hey. Oh, really? Because,
- 41:44Speaker 2: and I'm like, I know there's more of you, but
- 41:46Speaker 2: it's such a role that you're like, throughout history, whether
- 41:50Speaker 2: it's a Disney movie or it's always seen as the woman,
- 41:52Speaker 2: like the gold digging woman that like wanted to live
- 41:55Speaker 2: in this house and take care of these kids that
- 41:57Speaker 2: weren't hers. Yet if it's a stepdad, There's viral clips.
- 42:01Speaker 4: They're so celebrated.
- 42:02Speaker 2: There's viral clips of stepdads on podcasts that are like, dude,
- 42:06Speaker 2: you're taking care of a kid that isn't yours. He's
- 42:08Speaker 2: my son, man. And everyone's like, he's the greatest, he's
- 42:11Speaker 2: the greatest.
- 42:11Speaker 4: Yeah, you're right.
- 42:12Speaker 2: But for a step, and there's bad stepdads and there's
- 42:15Speaker 2: bad stepmoms, but like, there's not enough where people go,
- 42:18Speaker 2: this is, so selfless. This woman didn't have any biological children,
- 42:23Speaker 2: from what I can tell, after marrying him. And I
- 42:26Speaker 2: also don't know, what did the dad do? If he
- 42:29Speaker 2: was a former, like, Mr. Universe, was he an actor? Like,
- 42:33Speaker 2: they seem to have lived an okay, you know, upper
- 42:36Speaker 2: middle class life after Jane died. But I was kind
- 42:39Speaker 2: of like, and he's obviously a wonderful father, the one that,
- 42:43Speaker 2: you know, raised her, Hargitay. But like, I was just
- 42:47Speaker 2: kind of like, And she was, you know, just so
- 42:50Speaker 2: lovely the way she spoke about it.
- 42:51Speaker 4: I think you need to ask Ellen Hargitay to come
- 42:53Speaker 4: on here. You have to see the, there's a clip
- 42:56Speaker 4: of Chris DiStefano talking about how he is a stepfather.
- 43:00Speaker 4: And he, I just saw it a couple of days
- 43:02Speaker 4: ago and he said that his own stepmom said to him,
- 43:06Speaker 4: it is the most thankless job. And it's like, it's
- 43:09Speaker 4: going to be so frustrating, but you just, it just
- 43:12Speaker 4: have to accept it.
- 43:14Speaker 2: And I mean, to me, it's, it's not, it's certainly
- 43:18Speaker 2: not thankless on Mackenzie's part. She's extremely lovely and grateful
- 43:23Speaker 2: and has never treated me with any disrespect our entire lives.
- 43:28Speaker 2: Like never yelled at me or said, you're not my
- 43:30Speaker 2: mom or never, ever, ever. But I think it's just
- 43:35Speaker 2: one of those things that you get into and you,
- 43:37Speaker 2: you do it. And, maybe you want more accolades from
- 43:41Speaker 2: the rest of the family or whatever, and you, you,
- 43:44Speaker 2: you're not going to get it and it's fine. And you're, you're,
- 43:46Speaker 2: you were happy with your decision, you know, but to
- 43:50Speaker 2: be in a place that you took over for like
- 43:54Speaker 2: one of the biggest movie stars in the world.
- 43:56Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 43:56Speaker 2: Is a whole nother thing.
- 43:58Speaker 4: She had such grace to the way that Mariska is
- 44:01Speaker 4: interviewing her. And she just said, you know, he still
- 44:04Speaker 4: loved her.
- 44:05Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 44:06Speaker 2: He's still, and you never stopped loving. And, And then, yeah,
- 44:08Speaker 2: when she was like, and then they met. And that was,
- 44:11Speaker 2: that was the beginning of a beautiful time of both
- 44:13Speaker 2: of their lives. Like it was just, I mean, and then,
- 44:16Speaker 2: you know, and then so we were watching it, Peter
- 44:19Speaker 2: and I was like, wow. I mean, you know, men
- 44:22Speaker 2: get married so much quicker when that, you know, like
- 44:26Speaker 2: his own dad married his mom pretty shortly after his,
- 44:30Speaker 2: the first marriage ended and he had, you know, these
- 44:32Speaker 2: kids and then had married his, Peter's mom and had
- 44:35Speaker 2: these kids. And loved, you know, loved her very much
- 44:39Speaker 2: and everything. And I go, well, in those days, I do.
- 44:44Speaker 2: You're like, what the hell am I going to do? Like,
- 44:45Speaker 2: I have these other kids, especially in a widow situation.
- 44:48Speaker 2: I they were already dating before she died. But like, yeah,
- 44:52Speaker 2: let's I need help. I think men know they need help.
- 44:56Speaker 2: I think women need. sometimes might search for that stepfather
- 45:00Speaker 2: figure because they need the financial help or something or,
- 45:04Speaker 2: you know, whatever. It can be true love too, but
- 45:06Speaker 2: it's like, it's more like, and, you know, and then
- 45:11Speaker 2: for anyone to think like, oh, you're, oh, you're stepping
- 45:15Speaker 2: into the house or what, even if you marry someone
- 45:18Speaker 2: who's super rich and stuff, it's no picnic, you know?
- 45:23Speaker 2: And it's like, I know so many people where, they're
- 45:26Speaker 2: the the second or even third wife and they they're
- 45:29Speaker 2: there's wonderful stepmother for 10 20 years and then the
- 45:32Speaker 2: man dies and those kids that they were with since
- 45:36Speaker 2: they were 11 to 25 they don't even hear from
- 45:39Speaker 2: anymore wow like it's that can happen and it's nobody's
- 45:44Speaker 2: it's like all right well i guess that's over with
- 45:47Speaker 2: like i mean that's the other thing you know and
- 45:49Speaker 2: sometimes step parents stay in a bad marriage because they're
- 45:52Speaker 2: like i have no rights to see this kid i
- 45:54Speaker 2: can't See them every other weekend because it's not my kid.
- 45:57Speaker 2: So I love this child so much that I'm raising
- 46:00Speaker 2: who's my stepchild. I would like to divorce you, but
- 46:04Speaker 2: this is more valuable. So I'm going to make it work.
- 46:07Speaker 4: I had a terrible stepfather who pretended he was a
- 46:09Speaker 4: Korean war vet. And we found out afterwards that he
- 46:11Speaker 4: totally made it up. So I can't speak from experience.
- 46:14Speaker 4: But I do know many people that had wonderful step parents.
- 46:18Speaker 4: And I think it's a great thing.
- 46:20Speaker 2: Yeah, it's very, very interesting. Okay, so we're going to
- 46:22Speaker 2: move on to some other crazy stuff. So in the Valley,
- 46:26Speaker 2: Janet has been seen as the villain in this season
- 46:31Speaker 2: because she picked on Danny, accusing him of having a
- 46:36Speaker 2: drinking problem. And Danny is married now with four kids
- 46:40Speaker 2: to Mia. And people thought it was a little overblown. Okay,
- 46:44Speaker 2: here's the thing. There isn't honestly that much going on
- 46:48Speaker 2: without Jax being horrible to Brittany. True. So we know
- 46:54Speaker 2: as people that study, you know, reality TV and you,
- 46:56Speaker 2: you know, everything that you do, stuff has to happen.
- 47:00Speaker 2: And whether they bring it up or a producer goes, hey,
- 47:03Speaker 2: before you go to the dinner, remember, she said this
- 47:06Speaker 2: and this, bring up this. You know, I just saw
- 47:08Speaker 2: this other thing where a former producer of reality shows
- 47:12Speaker 2: was like, hey, I'm going to give you some things
- 47:15Speaker 2: that I think are going on here. I think a
- 47:16Speaker 2: scene of where Jesse picks up Jax from the rehab
- 47:20Speaker 2: probably didn't happen. It was probably a reenactment just to
- 47:23Speaker 2: have a conversation to be like, to just keep us
- 47:26Speaker 2: going with the storyline. Oh my God, Jesse just picked
- 47:28Speaker 2: him up from rehab. Not that he didn't go to rehab, but.
- 47:31Speaker 4: You know, whatever. Yeah. Okay.
- 47:34Speaker 2: She wasn't saying that, but it was just kind of,
- 47:37Speaker 2: and yeah, So it's like with this, so she gets
- 47:40Speaker 2: an onslaught of hate in all the different platforms, I'm assuming,
- 47:45Speaker 2: under photos and in hate groups, whatever. And really was like,
- 47:49Speaker 2: this is disgusting to the point where like you're reading them.
- 47:52Speaker 2: And again, I'm going to say as someone who's been
- 47:56Speaker 2: a victim of this, you don't know who is behind it.
- 48:00Speaker 2: You don't know if it's a bot, a fake thing
- 48:02Speaker 2: or whatever. You don't know if this could be a friend.
- 48:05Speaker 2: You don't know if it could be A producer that's
- 48:07Speaker 2: trying to make shit happen. You don't know who's writing
- 48:10Speaker 2: these awful things. And it is scary and it is weird,
- 48:14Speaker 2: but we're never going to find out. One of the
- 48:16Speaker 2: richest housewives ever from that one season of Real Housewives
- 48:20Speaker 2: of Beverly Hills, I don't even remember her name.
- 48:22Speaker 4: Diana.
- 48:23Speaker 2: Diana had people trying to find out who wrote the mean, horrible,
- 48:30Speaker 2: death threats text to Garcelle's son, Jax.
- 48:35Speaker 3: Mm-hmm.
- 48:36Speaker 2: We never found out. We never found out where the
- 48:39Speaker 2: server was. We never found out like, you're never gonna
- 48:41Speaker 2: find out. And it's like, you know, that I would
- 48:45Speaker 2: love to. I mean, there used to be a show
- 48:48Speaker 2: years ago.
- 48:49Speaker 5: I remember.
- 48:49Speaker 2: Where like Kim Kardashian, Joe Francis, they met with their hater.
- 48:54Speaker 2: And it was very juicy. One time I was up
- 48:57Speaker 2: to do that on Catfish. They were gonna do a
- 48:59Speaker 2: celebrity version of Catfish, somewhat celebrity, where you meet your hater.
- 49:04Speaker 2: I took all the psychological tests. I was so excited
- 49:09Speaker 2: because there was this one particular person and I was like,
- 49:13Speaker 2: I think it's a woman my age. I think it's,
- 49:16Speaker 2: but she's saying that she goes to NYU. I don't
- 49:19Speaker 2: think it's a young person. that goes to NYU. I
- 49:20Speaker 2: don't think a young person would care enough to hate
- 49:23Speaker 2: me this much. I think it's someone that's in my generation.
- 49:26Speaker 2: And she was like, hmm, the producer knew who it was.
- 49:29Speaker 2: They're like, hmm, I think you'll be surprised. And I
- 49:32Speaker 2: was like, oh my God. And then they just like
- 49:33Speaker 2: dropped it. They just didn't do that season.
- 49:36Speaker 3: They didn't do that season.
- 49:37Speaker 2: And I'm like, I mean, there's been times where I'm like,
- 49:39Speaker 2: how can I do this?
- 49:41Speaker 4: How could I offer that person to come on the
- 49:43Speaker 4: show and talk about it?
- 49:44Speaker 2: Who knows? They probably moved on. I'm probably eight haters back.
- 49:48Speaker 4: Doesn't matter.
- 49:48Speaker 2: They probably moved on to 12 other people because I
- 49:50Speaker 2: do think they get bored, too, sometimes.
- 49:53Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 49:53Speaker 2: But when you're getting it, you're seeing it, you're always
- 49:56Speaker 2: kind of wondering. And anyway, they went to Switzerland. People
- 50:01Speaker 2: were like, she escaped the country. I... I don't, I
- 50:05Speaker 2: didn't talk to Janet about this, but I know her
- 50:07Speaker 2: and I've talked to her and Jason and I was
- 50:09Speaker 2: watching her videos in Switzerland with her child and I said,
- 50:12Speaker 2: I'm pretty sure this was a planned trip.
- 50:14Speaker 3: Okay.
- 50:14Speaker 2: So she's come forward. She goes, this was a planned trip.
- 50:16Speaker 2: We did not escape America because of the hate. However,
- 50:19Speaker 2: I talked about this on my podcast and that's why
- 50:22Speaker 2: I guess people assumed that we, you know, escaped from,
- 50:27Speaker 2: you know, a comment.
- 50:28Speaker 4: Well, I think also because she all of a sudden
- 50:30Speaker 4: had a private profile.
- 50:32Speaker 2: Right. Which I, They're like, is she being dramatic? Is
- 50:36Speaker 2: she trying to take away from Kristen who just had
- 50:38Speaker 2: a baby? No, I think she's handling her own thing.
- 50:40Speaker 2: You can make your Instagram private. You can turn off comments.
- 50:44Speaker 2: You can not post. You can take a break. You
- 50:46Speaker 2: can put your phone away for two weeks. You will live.
- 50:50Speaker 2: Your career will not be gone forever.
- 50:52Speaker 4: In the short term, she needed to do that to
- 50:54Speaker 4: just enjoy her vacation with her husband and her child.
- 50:57Speaker 2: Right.
- 50:58Speaker 4: Like who wants to be on a trip and then
- 50:59Speaker 4: you open up your phone?
- 51:01Speaker 2: It's like an addiction where it's like, I'm not going
- 51:04Speaker 2: to drink this week. It's got to be like, I'm
- 51:06Speaker 2: not going to look at that because you might wake
- 51:10Speaker 2: up at 2 a.m. with jet lag and, you know,
- 51:12Speaker 2: three hours later, you try to tell yourself it's not
- 51:16Speaker 2: going to bother you, but the rest of the day,
- 51:18Speaker 2: and then you look back at that trip, just like
- 51:20Speaker 2: sometimes when I look back on a trip and I
- 51:22Speaker 2: remember I read a great juicy book and I associate
- 51:24Speaker 2: the book with that trip.
- 51:26Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 51:26Speaker 2: If you have something like this going on, you'll look
- 51:29Speaker 2: back on that trip three years from now and you'll
- 51:30Speaker 2: be like, ah, But in the wee hours of the morning,
- 51:33Speaker 2: I was consumed with how people hated my outfit and,
- 51:37Speaker 2: you know, were writing the most evil shit. And it's like,
- 51:41Speaker 2: you really have to, you really, that's my biggest fight
- 51:44Speaker 2: to ever. You really have to be like, I can't
- 51:47Speaker 2: look at it. And we've talked about this, I think,
- 51:49Speaker 2: before that there, I guess, in Australia with their Social
- 51:54Speaker 2: media people, they don't let them see this stuff. So
- 51:58Speaker 2: let's get to the Love Island, which everybody's obsessed with
- 52:01Speaker 2: this show. Full disclosure, I've only watched bits and pieces.
- 52:06Speaker 2: But let me ask you some questions because you're kind
- 52:08Speaker 2: of up on it. So is this a current thing
- 52:11Speaker 2: like Big Brother? Like they're currently in the house as
- 52:14Speaker 2: we speak. They've already done 30 episodes. The finale is
- 52:17Speaker 2: July 13th. So we're coming up on the end of it.
- 52:20Speaker 2: What's the turnaround? It sounds like the turnaround is like,
- 52:23Speaker 2: Within like two days, we're watching it.
- 52:25Speaker 4: Oh, yeah, yeah. It's very fast-paced.
- 52:26Speaker 2: So it's not like they filmed this six months ago,
- 52:29Speaker 2: like a normal reality show. No, no, no, no, no.
- 52:31Speaker 4: So that's what makes it fun. My oldest child, I
- 52:35Speaker 4: have five, is a high school junior. She and her
- 52:38Speaker 4: friends are obsessed with this. It's kind of fun to
- 52:42Speaker 4: hear their— she calls it Chopped Island because she says that
- 52:45Speaker 4: they all kind of suck this season. Last season was better.
- 52:47Speaker 2: Okay.
- 52:48Speaker 4: Just listening to their perspective is really funny.
- 52:51Speaker 2: So what is the concept? It's couples that aren't married
- 52:55Speaker 2: but have been together a while and then they go. No, no, no, no.
- 52:58Speaker 4: You're just a single person. You come to the island,
- 52:59Speaker 4: you meet the other girls and then you meet the guys. Oh, okay.
- 53:02Speaker 2: So it's not the one where couples then could be
- 53:04Speaker 2: tempted by. No. Okay. So this is just all hot people.
- 53:08Speaker 4: Just hot people. This is paradise. This is Bachelor in
- 53:11Speaker 4: Paradise but sluttier. And they're all strangers to each other
- 53:14Speaker 4: until they get there.
- 53:16Speaker 2: Okay, got it.
- 53:16Speaker 4: And then your strategy is you kind of have to
- 53:19Speaker 4: float around the house and couple up.
- 53:22Speaker 2: But if you don't come up, you can't stay. Right.
- 53:24Speaker 4: So you have to come up with somebody, but you
- 53:27Speaker 4: can't be you have to kind of just talk about
- 53:30Speaker 4: surface things.
- 53:31Speaker 2: Do they show them like they do on like below
- 53:33Speaker 2: deck where like you're clearly effing with like the nightlight
- 53:37Speaker 2: on over the bed?
- 53:38Speaker 4: Because it's a large room with a bunch of beds
- 53:40Speaker 4: in it. Like it's, you know, Madeline, the story of
- 53:44Speaker 4: the orphanage. It's like all beds in a room and
- 53:47Speaker 4: then it's all neat. decorated in like neon colors and
- 53:50Speaker 4: then like the lights go off at the same time.
- 53:52Speaker 2: And then you see like people boning all around?
- 53:54Speaker 4: Sometimes. But really your strategy is you want to be
- 53:59Speaker 4: perceived as you're falling in love but it's like We
- 54:03Speaker 4: would be terrible on this show because you have to
- 54:05Speaker 4: be very good at just talking about absolutely nothing.
- 54:08Speaker 2: Okay.
- 54:09Speaker 4: Because first of all, they're so bored.
- 54:11Speaker 2: Oh, speaking of which, I saw a clip of it
- 54:13Speaker 2: and I got this part. He said, I just love music.
- 54:16Speaker 4: No, that's it.
- 54:17Speaker 2: Okay. That's the conversation.
- 54:18Speaker 4: No, no, that's it. I'm guessing this guy also- You
- 54:20Speaker 4: have to exist like that.
- 54:21Speaker 2: Connected on finding someone that likes sunsets. It's all of that.
- 54:25Speaker 4: It's like, you like oranges? I like oranges too.
- 54:28Speaker 2: You do? That's so weird.
- 54:30Speaker 4: That's amazing.
- 54:31Speaker 2: That is, I have not met anybody that's like as
- 54:35Speaker 2: into orange juice as I am. No, I haven't.
- 54:38Speaker 4: That is the hardest part of the show. Now, it's
- 54:42Speaker 4: really become.
- 54:42Speaker 2: I've been watching some clips. I was like, I don't
- 54:45Speaker 2: I want to give this to my people, but I
- 54:47Speaker 2: don't think I can commit. There's like 25 people. There's
- 54:50Speaker 2: already 30 episodes. Like I would have to be like
- 54:54Speaker 2: held up with like broken legs or something.
- 54:56Speaker 4: Like you have to dip in and out. But what
- 54:58Speaker 4: it used to be like, well, Love Island UK is
- 55:01Speaker 4: a lot more sexual.
- 55:03Speaker 2: Okay. This is like. Are people gay or bi or anything?
- 55:07Speaker 4: No, they're straight.
- 55:07Speaker 2: They're all straight.
- 55:08Speaker 4: They'll be like challenges. And then they'll say like, you know,
- 55:12Speaker 4: you know, some kiss someone. And it's like they'll go
- 55:15Speaker 4: like full like swallowing someone's face off. But you have
- 55:18Speaker 4: to be.
- 55:19Speaker 2: Like always hetero. Girls aren't messing around at all.
- 55:22Speaker 4: Not that I've seen.
- 55:23Speaker 6: OK.
- 55:23Speaker 2: OK.
- 55:25Speaker 4: So it's become like Survivor, though.
- 55:29Speaker 2: OK.
- 55:30Speaker 4: So it's really kind of this season especially is less
- 55:32Speaker 4: about love. You can see that people are using it
- 55:35Speaker 4: now just as an opportunity to grow their following. And
- 55:38Speaker 4: some of the cast members are adjacent to big influencers.
- 55:42Speaker 4: So it's sort of like on Housewives when someone joins
- 55:44Speaker 4: the show and they had a friend who was on
- 55:46Speaker 4: Housewives and they kind of learned the playbook. It's becoming
- 55:50Speaker 4: a little bit too like that. And then two people
- 55:52Speaker 4: have been kind of pushed off the show because old
- 55:56Speaker 4: social media posts have come back to haunt them. And
- 55:59Speaker 4: the last girl that they got rid of. She had
- 56:01Speaker 4: no idea what it was all about, like, why she was, like,
- 56:03Speaker 4: pushed off the show. And her parents put out a
- 56:05Speaker 4: statement basically saying.
- 56:07Speaker 2: Right, okay, so this is Sierra. This is Sierra's story?
- 56:12Speaker 1: Yep.
- 56:12Speaker 2: So this is Sierra's story. And this took a minute
- 56:15Speaker 2: for me to find out what was this social media post.
- 56:18Speaker 2: So she's on the show gaining followers, and you have, like,
- 56:21Speaker 2: a friend following you, helping you still keep up with
- 56:24Speaker 2: your social media.
- 56:25Speaker 4: Mm-hmm.
- 56:26Speaker 2: And then somebody finds a post from a few years
- 56:28Speaker 2: back where she said, Bovetets isn't for everyone, but I
- 56:32Speaker 2: love it for me. I'm incredibly expressive with my face
- 56:35Speaker 2: and I catch myself frowning for no reason throughout the
- 56:37Speaker 2: day when I'm focusing on something or thinking too hard.
- 56:40Speaker 2: I also kind of be a little chinky when I
- 56:42Speaker 2: laugh or smile. Now, this girl is not Chinese.
- 56:45Speaker 4: Mm-hmm.
- 56:47Speaker 2: And I don't know what her ethnicity is, but it's
- 56:49Speaker 2: not Asian. And so she was saying that, you know,
- 56:53Speaker 2: she has eyes that in a obviously derogatory way. So
- 56:59Speaker 2: that came out. And then they found another one that
- 57:02Speaker 2: she took a cute photo of herself back in 2015
- 57:05Speaker 2: because people were saying, this isn't a one time thing.
- 57:08Speaker 2: This is a word that she uses in her vernacular often.
- 57:11Speaker 2: Where she said something like, I like this photo, but
- 57:14Speaker 2: I'm looking a little chinky here because she's smiling.
- 57:17Speaker 4: But this was on the heels of another cast member
- 57:20Speaker 4: named Melissa who had something derogatory.
- 57:23Speaker 2: What did she say?
- 57:24Speaker 4: Something highly racist. So now you have two cast members.
- 57:28Speaker 4: So what I'm telling you is.
- 57:29Speaker 2: And they kicked out both.
- 57:30Speaker 3: Yes.
- 57:31Speaker 2: So the first girl was first.
- 57:33Speaker 4: Yeah. Because of that, everyone's going through all of their
- 57:37Speaker 4: old social media accounts. So this is like, it's become survivor.
- 57:41Speaker 2: What I also saw is that nobody's like sticking up
- 57:44Speaker 2: for her, including her people at home. Everyone's just like, no,
- 57:47Speaker 2: want no association with this stink.
- 57:49Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 57:50Speaker 2: She was close to having a million followers. She lost
- 57:53Speaker 2: as of yesterday, they said she was down one 50,
- 57:57Speaker 2: which is a lot, but it's not insane. I mean,
- 57:59Speaker 2: if you still have eight 50, you're doing pretty well
- 58:02Speaker 2: in life. So, um, You know, and so then she
- 58:07Speaker 2: doesn't know why she's getting kicked out, right? They're like,
- 58:10Speaker 2: you're getting kicked out. And then she has to find
- 58:12Speaker 2: out that this was a post that she did. And
- 58:14Speaker 2: her parents had to write like a statement.
- 58:17Speaker 4: What was this one?
- 58:19Speaker 2: I don't know how old this one was. I think
- 58:21Speaker 2: it was a couple years. And then the parents wrote
- 58:23Speaker 2: a statement. Yeah, what was the statement again?
- 58:25Speaker 4: Just like, please give our daughter some grace. This is
- 58:29Speaker 4: a learning experience.
- 58:30Speaker 2: Maybe she'll go to Switzerland, meet Janet.
- 58:31Speaker 4: But I thought, I'm just looking at this as interesting
- 58:36Speaker 4: because we've gone through a couple years where reality shows
- 58:40Speaker 4: are your opportunity to grow your following, to become an influencer,
- 58:43Speaker 4: which is the dream job of young people right now.
- 58:46Speaker 2: Unless you're Lisa Vanderpump who has a restaurant, like already
- 58:49Speaker 2: established business, if you're under 30 and you go on
- 58:52Speaker 2: any of these shows, besides just acting a little slutty
- 58:56Speaker 2: and wearing a bikini. It's to become an influencer and
- 58:59Speaker 2: like be able to sell bikinis once you get home.
- 59:02Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 59:02Speaker 4: So now I don't know if a lot of people
- 59:05Speaker 4: not there, there may be a population of people that
- 59:07Speaker 4: rethink that because now the people are going to comb
- 59:10Speaker 4: through all of your things.
- 59:12Speaker 2: The thing is though, you know, comedy and comments and everything,
- 59:17Speaker 2: people do grow and life is different than it was
- 59:21Speaker 2: five years ago, 10 years ago. And I mean, watch
- 59:24Speaker 2: a movie from from a decade ago while you're getting
- 59:27Speaker 2: your hair blown out and you're going to find 10
- 59:31Speaker 2: things that wouldn't fly today. And you could find things
- 59:34Speaker 2: that are wrong and inappropriate and hurtful and racist and stereotypical.
- 59:39Speaker 2: And this, and she was dumb and she did say it. And,
- 59:43Speaker 2: you know, like, listen, she's not running for president. If
- 59:46Speaker 2: you don't want to follow her, don't follow her. Who cares?
- 59:48Speaker 2: But I'm just saying like, yeah, it's going to, if,
- 59:53Speaker 2: if it was, If this thing was, you know, 2024
- 59:58Speaker 2: or three, yeah. What the hell are you doing? What
- 1:00:02Speaker 2: backwards world are you living in? But it doesn't matter.
- 1:00:06Speaker 2: You're completely disposable. Goodbye. We're going to get rid of you.
- 1:00:11Speaker 2: No one cares. Where's Hawk to a girl?
- 1:00:12Speaker 4: I know.
- 1:00:14Speaker 2: I need to know where Hawk to a girl is.
- 1:00:16Speaker 2: Where's Hawk to a girl? Like what happened to her?
- 1:00:20Speaker 2: I know she made all that money in the Bitcoin.
- 1:00:22Speaker 2: Is she just like, Did she just go away and
- 1:00:25Speaker 2: she's got like $ 30 million of Bitcoin?
- 1:00:27Speaker 4: I didn't follow her to begin with, so I have
- 1:00:28Speaker 4: no idea.
- 1:00:30Speaker 2: Well, she got a podcast.
- 1:00:32Speaker 4: Okay.
- 1:00:33Speaker 2: And she had her own Bitcoin. And then there was
- 1:00:37Speaker 2: like some way it was people were accusing her of
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: doing some weird scam with it, some crypto scam. And
- 1:00:44Speaker 2: now she's just disappeared, but I think she might have
- 1:00:46Speaker 2: disappeared with like $ 20 or $ 30 million in the bank.
- 1:00:49Speaker 4: I need to know what happened to her.
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: You know where she probably is?
- 1:00:51Speaker 4: That show, The World's Toughest Challenge, where you go to
- 1:00:55Speaker 4: Australia or New Zealand and film, and then we'll see
- 1:00:57Speaker 4: her on TV in four months.
- 1:01:00Speaker 2: Oh, maybe you're right. I was hoping she was gone.
- 1:01:03Speaker 4: That's who they cast.
- 1:01:04Speaker 2: Okay, well, all right. Okay, I want to talk about
- 1:01:08Speaker 2: this as a really cool thing that you do on
- 1:01:10Speaker 2: your sub stack, KateCasey.stubs. Substack.com because you are so smart.
- 1:01:16Speaker 2: And this is kind of where we bonded many years
- 1:01:19Speaker 2: ago was analyzing Housewives before everyone analyzed Housewives. And you
- 1:01:25Speaker 2: kind of realized there's eight archetypes. I can't wait for
- 1:01:31Speaker 2: us to teach our college course together.
- 1:01:33Speaker 4: I know. Brian Moylan and I did one time. We
- 1:01:38Speaker 4: did a joint presentation to Columbia about reality TV.
- 1:01:43Speaker 2: Wait, were people in the class?
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: Yes.
- 1:01:45Speaker 2: When did you do that?
- 1:01:46Speaker 4: It was like a year and a half ago, maybe.
- 1:01:50Speaker 3: Dr.
- 1:01:50Speaker 4: Raquel Gates is the professor.
- 1:01:52Speaker 2: Okay, well, I've been pushing it for USC, so people
- 1:01:55Speaker 2: at USC, come find me. I'll do a little fun class. Okay,
- 1:01:57Speaker 2: so tell me what they are.
- 1:01:59Speaker 4: Okay, so as you can see, oh, you've got Queen Bee,
- 1:02:03Speaker 4: who's always the head of the show. They're the one
- 1:02:06Speaker 4: who get the reunion seat. Everyone kind of follows her.
- 1:02:10Speaker 2: Who is that on Beverly Hills? Kyle?
- 1:02:12Speaker 4: Well, now it's Kyle. And the archetypes can change.
- 1:02:15Speaker 2: Right. I mean, originally, I think it was definitely Lisa Vanderpump.
- 1:02:17Speaker 4: Lisa Vanderpump.
- 1:02:17Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:02:18Speaker 4: Or Teresa. And it's like they're the center of the
- 1:02:20Speaker 4: reunion and everyone kind of follows in line with what
- 1:02:23Speaker 4: they say. And the audience might say, well, the show
- 1:02:27Speaker 4: is sort of centered around that person. They sort of
- 1:02:29Speaker 4: set the tone and everyone's terrified of them.
- 1:02:31Speaker 2: And also, if you... Or if you get hooked by
- 1:02:34Speaker 2: someone else to try to take over the queen and
- 1:02:39Speaker 2: change the democracy of your country. Yep. Nine times out
- 1:02:43Speaker 2: of 10, it doesn't work. And then you get fucked.
- 1:02:46Speaker 4: Totally.
- 1:02:46Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:02:47Speaker 4: And that's why some people are the sidekick.
- 1:02:49Speaker 2: Okay.
- 1:02:49Speaker 4: Sidekick is Jennifer Aiden. Like they just go with whatever
- 1:02:53Speaker 4: the queen bee says.
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:02:55Speaker 4: Like they fall into line. They are there. They provide.
- 1:03:00Speaker 2: And I mean, do any of us care if Jennifer
- 1:03:02Speaker 2: Aiden ever comes back?
- 1:03:03Speaker 3: No.
- 1:03:04Speaker 2: But when she's on. It flows with the show, but
- 1:03:07Speaker 2: it's not like she has a following like a Teresa. Okay, continue.
- 1:03:11Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:03:12Speaker 4: I mean, laughs at all their jokes, agrees with all
- 1:03:14Speaker 4: of their, you know, their opinions. So that's, if you
- 1:03:18Speaker 4: remember the movie Mean Girls, it's kind of based on Rosalind,
- 1:03:22Speaker 4: her book. It's the Lacey Chabert character. They like just
- 1:03:27Speaker 4: kind of follow them everywhere.
- 1:03:28Speaker 2: Got it.
- 1:03:28Speaker 5: Okay.
- 1:03:29Speaker 4: Then you have the wannabe. The wannabe is the person
- 1:03:31Speaker 4: who just desperately wants to be included. And sometimes they
- 1:03:34Speaker 4: tend to Do things like overdress to kind of like
- 1:03:39Speaker 4: make themselves kind of fit in. And that was a
- 1:03:41Speaker 4: Sutton Strack in the beginning or like an Alex McCord.
- 1:03:44Speaker 2: OK, I'm going to interrupt for a second. I just
- 1:03:46Speaker 2: saw a clip on my of Dr. Nicole from Miami,
- 1:03:51Speaker 2: who is no longer there. Right. who was the cutest
- 1:03:54Speaker 2: and had the best life and actually is an anesthesiologist
- 1:03:58Speaker 2: or a doctor too. She was talking to other housewife anesthesiologists,
- 1:04:02Speaker 2: Tiffany Moon, on a podcast or whatever on Zoom. And
- 1:04:08Speaker 2: she said something to the effect, Nicole, that she found
- 1:04:11Speaker 2: out that like a sidekick and somebody else, yeah, it
- 1:04:15Speaker 2: must have been Marisol, not a full character, were hiring
- 1:04:18Speaker 2: investigators to try to get a got you moment that
- 1:04:21Speaker 2: they could then deliver on a platter to the producers
- 1:04:24Speaker 2: to then elevate their status. And I guess when she
- 1:04:28Speaker 2: found out about it, she was out. And speaking of Miami,
- 1:04:31Speaker 2: I think it has to do with that the new
- 1:04:32Speaker 2: girl at one time dated her now.
- 1:04:34Speaker 4: Stephanie was an ex of Anthony's.
- 1:04:37Speaker 2: Crazy. Okay, continue. Crazy. Yes.
- 1:04:40Speaker 4: So that's a wannabe. And then you have the target.
- 1:04:44Speaker 4: The target is the one that kind of everyone throws
- 1:04:47Speaker 4: the kitchen sink at. They're the person that they want
- 1:04:52Speaker 4: to take down. And I would say that's someone like
- 1:04:54Speaker 4: Denise Richards. They're all angry at her. She's not showing
- 1:04:57Speaker 4: up and filming the same amount that we are. This
- 1:05:00Speaker 4: is a dumb storyline.
- 1:05:01Speaker 3: Jealous.
- 1:05:02Speaker 2: Could be jealous too that they actually are pretty and
- 1:05:04Speaker 2: have a career. Okay.
- 1:05:05Speaker 4: So they're the target. There is the banker. The banker
- 1:05:10Speaker 4: keeps all the secrets and they're strategic about it.
- 1:05:13Speaker 2: The bone collector.
- 1:05:14Speaker 4: They're the bone collector. And then they drop it. And
- 1:05:16Speaker 4: that's a Margaret Joseph's. Like they wait for the right
- 1:05:19Speaker 4: time and then they drop it. But that's not to
- 1:05:21Speaker 4: be confused with the messenger.
- 1:05:23Speaker 2: OK.
- 1:05:23Speaker 4: The messenger is the one who drops information, but they
- 1:05:27Speaker 4: can be sloppy about it. Like I think sometimes Candy
- 1:05:31Speaker 4: Burris could do that.
- 1:05:32Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:05:33Speaker 4: Like just drop. It's like a shit stir. Like the
- 1:05:35Speaker 4: messenger is sort of like a shit stir.
- 1:05:38Speaker 2: Okay. Okay.
- 1:05:40Speaker 4: The floater. Floater is like when you were in school
- 1:05:43Speaker 4: and you just kind of go float from group to group.
- 1:05:45Speaker 4: They don't really have alliances.
- 1:05:47Speaker 2: Okay.
- 1:05:47Speaker 4: And they just kind of sort of like float on.
- 1:05:50Speaker 4: And that can also be candy burris.
- 1:05:52Speaker 2: Okay.
- 1:05:53Speaker 4: Like they don't really have one group in particular. And
- 1:05:56Speaker 4: then there's the torn bystander. They're the ones who are
- 1:05:59Speaker 4: always like conflicted about something. They won't take a side.
- 1:06:04Speaker 4: And that's a Cynthia Bailey.
- 1:06:07Speaker 2: Got it. That's brilliant. I love it. Um, speaking of
- 1:06:11Speaker 2: which Bravo con, I will be, uh, having a show
- 1:06:15Speaker 2: on Friday, November 14th at the MGM at 10 PM.
- 1:06:17Speaker 2: Get your tickets at Heather McDowell net. Um, I want
- 1:06:21Speaker 2: to talk about the latest lawsuit, uh, finding that's happening
- 1:06:25Speaker 2: with Leah McSweeney.
- 1:06:27Speaker 4: Okay.
- 1:06:28Speaker 2: From real housewives of New York to remind you, she's
- 1:06:30Speaker 2: suing Bravo saying that they, uh, encouraged and pushed her
- 1:06:35Speaker 2: to drink, um, Affecting her mental health and her wellness,
- 1:06:41Speaker 2: and therefore she is suing. The other side of it
- 1:06:45Speaker 2: is saying that she got the job at Real Housewives
- 1:06:49Speaker 2: of New York after being sober for a long time,
- 1:06:51Speaker 2: but had just started drinking before she started filming. So therefore,
- 1:06:55Speaker 2: how could they be responsible for her drinking? They say that?
- 1:06:59Speaker 4: That she was drinking before?
- 1:07:00Speaker 2: She has said that.
- 1:07:01Speaker 4: Oh, she did.
- 1:07:02Speaker 2: She has said, I was sober for a long time
- 1:07:05Speaker 2: and then I started to drink and then I got
- 1:07:07Speaker 2: the job. Okay, so now she's, but then she says
- 1:07:10Speaker 2: when she then went to do the Ultimate Girls trip
- 1:07:13Speaker 2: in Thailand, she wasn't feeling well there and felt she
- 1:07:18Speaker 2: was being punished for it, wasn't asked to be on
- 1:07:20Speaker 2: another show and that she has evidence that they were
- 1:07:25Speaker 2: forcing her or wanting her to drink because at one moment,
- 1:07:29Speaker 2: I remember Heather Gay said, like, are you really sober?
- 1:07:32Speaker 2: I thought we could get you to drink. Something like that.
- 1:07:34Speaker 4: I think I remember that.
- 1:07:35Speaker 2: But again, it's a reality show. And part of the
- 1:07:36Speaker 2: reality show agreements are if you have a problem with
- 1:07:40Speaker 2: any other cast member or the product, we will go
- 1:07:43Speaker 2: to mediation first. We will try to settle at mediation. Now,
- 1:07:46Speaker 2: she doesn't want mediation. She wants to do a full trial.
- 1:07:49Speaker 2: And the reason that her attorneys are bringing up that
- 1:07:53Speaker 2: the mediation should not been be withheld, be held up,
- 1:07:59Speaker 2: it should be able to go to trial is because
- 1:08:03Speaker 2: that all goes away. All mediation goes away if there's
- 1:08:07Speaker 2: any element of sexual harassment. So like, you know, we
- 1:08:11Speaker 2: could have an agreement where if we were to get
- 1:08:14Speaker 2: into a business thing and something goes wrong, we're going
- 1:08:17Speaker 2: to mediate. But if I sexually harassed you, you know,
- 1:08:20Speaker 2: then that all goes away. So she said she was
- 1:08:23Speaker 2: sexually harassed. Because Annie Cohen asked her about her boob
- 1:08:26Speaker 2: job and has text messages to prove it. And therefore,
- 1:08:32Speaker 2: she was sexually harassed. And therefore, then this is, you know,
- 1:08:38Speaker 2: this should go to not have to be arbitration or mediation.
- 1:08:41Speaker 4: This is like a disaster.
- 1:08:45Speaker 2: And I think it all comes from.
- 1:08:47Speaker 4: The real problem here seems to be these ultimate girl strips. Like,
- 1:08:51Speaker 4: there's so much litigation involving these Ultimate Girls trips. Like,
- 1:08:55Speaker 4: maybe they need to, like, can it.
- 1:08:57Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, we still have the Caroline Manson. There's
- 1:09:01Speaker 2: word that they're all done and ready to go. Of course,
- 1:09:03Speaker 2: they're done and ready to go. It was shot three
- 1:09:05Speaker 2: years ago. Of course, it's done and ready to go. But,
- 1:09:08Speaker 2: you know, because she's suing saying that Brandi Glanville groped
- 1:09:13Speaker 2: her and this and that. that that too is sexual harassment,
- 1:09:17Speaker 2: which is why now I see why they're able to,
- 1:09:20Speaker 2: you know, get attorneys to back them on this because
- 1:09:23Speaker 2: both of them have a sexual harassment element to them.
- 1:09:27Speaker 2: It's not just, you said my husband was a loser.
- 1:09:30Speaker 2: You know, I'm going to sue you for defamation. He's
- 1:09:32Speaker 2: not a loser. It's not that. And so I, you know, yeah,
- 1:09:39Speaker 2: it's kind of interesting. I don't know. I think as
- 1:09:42Speaker 2: someone who's, Like I said before, it's just not a
- 1:09:46Speaker 2: kind of lawsuit that there's a lot of sympathy for
- 1:09:49Speaker 2: because women watching it would all like to go on
- 1:09:53Speaker 2: free trips. They don't think that their life is hard
- 1:09:55Speaker 2: being on the show. We know emotionally it is. And
- 1:09:58Speaker 2: also you give someone fame. They're having photo shoots. They're
- 1:10:02Speaker 2: on the cover of magazines. They're going on first class
- 1:10:05Speaker 2: to go on Watch What Happens Live. And then it
- 1:10:07Speaker 2: all ends.
- 1:10:08Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:10:08Speaker 2: It all ends. And if they don't have any kind
- 1:10:10Speaker 2: of other business or husband to fall back on... they
- 1:10:13Speaker 2: do get very desperate and they feel like they've been
- 1:10:16Speaker 2: thrown away, which is what Brandi Glanville feels like. And
- 1:10:21Speaker 2: this is Bravo's dark side. She did a cameo, Brandi,
- 1:10:25Speaker 2: and she's not going to turn down a cameo. We
- 1:10:27Speaker 2: all know she's financially in bad position. She said since
- 1:10:31Speaker 2: Caroline is not sued her, but made her part of
- 1:10:35Speaker 2: a lawsuit, not suing Brandi, but that she has not
- 1:10:39Speaker 2: been able to be on any of those shows or
- 1:10:42Speaker 2: whatever villains, anything in the Bravo world, anything on anything.
- 1:10:46Speaker 2: And she's been censored, censored time on a real house
- 1:10:50Speaker 2: is Beverly Hills. She has been on ultimate girl stress,
- 1:10:52Speaker 2: but she's also been on these one-off shows and stuff
- 1:10:55Speaker 2: like that. She's not getting any of that now. And
- 1:10:59Speaker 2: she has this weird parasite thing that there's been people
- 1:11:04Speaker 2: alluding or herself. I'm not sure where it stems from.
- 1:11:07Speaker 2: So don't hold me to it. That could she have
- 1:11:09Speaker 2: gotten some type of parasite in her face? When she
- 1:11:12Speaker 2: was in Morocco, which I don't think that would be
- 1:11:16Speaker 2: Bravo's fault because, you know, sometimes when you go to
- 1:11:19Speaker 2: a doctor after a trip.
- 1:11:20Speaker 4: Why would they think it was in Morocco? I don't know.
- 1:11:23Speaker 2: That's when it started. I'm just saying that's when it
- 1:11:24Speaker 2: started to happen and that's where they filmed. And so
- 1:11:27Speaker 2: was there something there? But again, that wouldn't be Bravo's fault.
- 1:11:31Speaker 2: Like if you went to Morocco and you stayed at
- 1:11:33Speaker 2: a five-star hotel and you came back. with something and
- 1:11:36Speaker 2: you didn't know what you had. I don't think it's...
- 1:11:38Speaker 2: I don't.
- 1:11:38Speaker 4: Think she would get Botox in Morocco. You would get
- 1:11:41Speaker 4: it before you went on the trip.
- 1:11:43Speaker 2: I don't think that she thinks it's Botox. She said
- 1:11:45Speaker 2: there's some parasite or something that's crawling in her face.
- 1:11:48Speaker 2: She's trying to repair her looks. She's doing this cameo,
- 1:11:52Speaker 2: which clearly she had some new facial that makes you
- 1:11:56Speaker 2: look like a burn victim. And she's just doing it anyway.
- 1:12:00Speaker 2: And then whoever got the cameo didn't keep it to themselves.
- 1:12:05Speaker 2: blasted it and then everyone else posted what's wrong with
- 1:12:07Speaker 2: their face but I don't know maybe this will gain
- 1:12:10Speaker 2: her some sympathy maybe this will help somebody go because
- 1:12:13Speaker 2: supposedly Terry Dubrow Dr. Terry Dubrow was supposed to help
- 1:12:15Speaker 2: her with it but if there's any kind of claim
- 1:12:17Speaker 2: that maybe this happened on a set of Bravo maybe
- 1:12:19Speaker 2: he's like find another doctor I don't know.
- 1:12:22Speaker 4: It's terrifying It's really... How do you not have total.
- 1:12:26Speaker 2: What is your prediction with all these lawsuits?
- 1:12:28Speaker 4: Such empathy for her.
- 1:12:29Speaker 2: With Leah and Caroline Manza. What is your prediction?
- 1:12:33Speaker 4: The show in Morocco will never see the light of day.
- 1:12:35Speaker 2: Agree with that.
- 1:12:36Speaker 6: Never.
- 1:12:38Speaker 2: Which I'm so sad about, but yeah.
- 1:12:39Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:12:40Speaker 4: I feel like this lawsuit Leah has has gone quite far,
- 1:12:42Speaker 4: so it's hard to say. This is what I say
- 1:12:44Speaker 4: about all lawsuits. The Blake Lively stuff, you name it.
- 1:12:48Speaker 4: Unless we have the benefit of looking at all the discovery,
- 1:12:52Speaker 4: none of us really know.
- 1:12:53Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:12:54Speaker 4: We just don't.
- 1:12:56Speaker 2: Well, that's why we'll see if it ever really goes
- 1:12:57Speaker 2: to an actual trial like in Amber Heard and Johnny Depp.
- 1:13:01Speaker 2: Then we got to see every single thing, the poop
- 1:13:04Speaker 2: on the bed, the da-da-da-da, and you could really– and
- 1:13:08Speaker 2: watch it. So we'll see.
- 1:13:14Speaker 4: Well, there's also that lawsuit now in Atlanta, Brit.
- 1:13:18Speaker 2: Oh, yes. To remind people of that, in Atlanta, Brit
- 1:13:22Speaker 2: is suing for $ 20 million. Or is it $ 200 million?
- 1:13:25Speaker 4: $ 20 million.
- 1:13:25Speaker 2: $ 20 million to Bravo saying that they allowed a conversation
- 1:13:33Speaker 2: to be filmed and talked about and everything. where Kenya
- 1:13:39Speaker 2: brought photos of this new girl, Brit, that she had
- 1:13:43Speaker 2: someone find on the internet that showed her giving BJs
- 1:13:47Speaker 2: and whatnot on camera, blew them up, put them on
- 1:13:50Speaker 2: a poster from Michaels and showed them because she was
- 1:13:55Speaker 2: mad at that girl. They didn't actually show the photo,
- 1:13:59Speaker 2: but she said, this is her. Britt heard about it.
- 1:14:02Speaker 2: We see it filmed. They tell Kenya, you're going to
- 1:14:05Speaker 2: take a pause. We can't film with you anymore. But
- 1:14:08Speaker 2: it's a conversation throughout the season. Some people feel sorry
- 1:14:12Speaker 2: for Britt in the beginning. Some people are like, she's
- 1:14:14Speaker 2: the problem. She found, apparently, according to the law school
- 1:14:18Speaker 2: or whatever, it wasn't her.
- 1:14:21Speaker 4: I don't understand why they even aired that to begin with.
- 1:14:25Speaker 2: Aired the conversation.
- 1:14:26Speaker 4: Why did they include that?
- 1:14:28Speaker 2: I know, because even if you're filming and stuff, then
- 1:14:30Speaker 2: when you're about, that's the whole thing. When any of
- 1:14:33Speaker 2: this stuff happens, I'm like, not only were there people
- 1:14:36Speaker 2: in the edit room, but then there's a final edit.
- 1:14:39Speaker 2: Then there's notes. Then there's, I mean, there's all this
- 1:14:42Speaker 2: stuff and every, and so all these people up to
- 1:14:45Speaker 2: whoever is the top of the line. And I don't
- 1:14:48Speaker 2: know if Andy has that say anymore in all these
- 1:14:50Speaker 2: shows anymore, if he's, it's not his responsibility, but whoever
- 1:14:54Speaker 2: they said, yeah, included, it's juicy. It's wild to me.
- 1:14:58Speaker 2: And didn't think like, are we a hundred percent? It's this,
- 1:15:01Speaker 2: is this girl? Or even if, if it is, it
- 1:15:03Speaker 2: shouldn't be. But I just thought, imagine. Did you see
- 1:15:05Speaker 2: the episode?
- 1:15:07Speaker 4: I saw it all. Yeah, I saw it all. Were
- 1:15:08Speaker 4: you just like- I was horrified. I had my hands
- 1:15:11Speaker 4: on my head. I was like, why would they show this?
- 1:15:13Speaker 4: This is awful.
- 1:15:15Speaker 2: I just think it's crazy then to destroy her character
- 1:15:19Speaker 2: and because she did do music videos and because she
- 1:15:25Speaker 2: did have boyfriends that threatened revenge porn before she got
- 1:15:29Speaker 2: married and became an insurance agent and because She dabbled
- 1:15:32Speaker 2: in webcamming. She really thought someone had photos of her
- 1:15:37Speaker 2: from her past in compromising positions. She assumed it was true.
- 1:15:42Speaker 2: And then to find out it wasn't even her. It's
- 1:15:45Speaker 2: like you destroyed my character and it wasn't even me
- 1:15:48Speaker 2: that I in her case. I think there should be some. Something.
- 1:15:54Speaker 2: I do. I do. I think there should be something
- 1:15:56Speaker 2: for her because I'm like, you destroyed her character. It's
- 1:15:58Speaker 2: like me with the fucking earrings. I believed that the
- 1:16:01Speaker 2: earrings were worth $ 10, 000 when, you know, Jeff Lewis was
- 1:16:04Speaker 2: saying that they were. I paid the, you know, paid her,
- 1:16:08Speaker 2: paid my friend only to find out like a month
- 1:16:09Speaker 2: and a half later when I finally went to a
- 1:16:11Speaker 2: jewelry store that they were fake and in fact worth $ 44.
- 1:16:16Speaker 2: To this day, people still think they were worth something
- 1:16:19Speaker 2: or they're like, but you still borrowed something and didn't
- 1:16:20Speaker 2: return it. To this day, I have to like. So
- 1:16:23Speaker 2: it's like I just was like, oh, my God, the
- 1:16:26Speaker 2: irony of all of this is like, yeah.
- 1:16:29Speaker 4: I think you have to have more women that are working.
- 1:16:33Speaker 4: behind the scenes of Real Housewives, because these are women's stories.
- 1:16:37Speaker 4: No one knows them better than we do. And at
- 1:16:39Speaker 4: the end of the day, I would think that they
- 1:16:41Speaker 4: would look at every episode and then look at it
- 1:16:44Speaker 4: as a collective piece where you're asking, was this real
- 1:16:49Speaker 4: character development? Were we telling someone's complicated story? Were we
- 1:16:53Speaker 4: telling the story of their complicated friendships and relationships? I
- 1:16:57Speaker 4: don't know what they were trying to do in this
- 1:17:01Speaker 4: in this example, like it's just, it's disgusting and tears
- 1:17:05Speaker 4: a woman down in so many ways. How is that uplifting?
- 1:17:08Speaker 4: And anyway, sure. Housewives can be funny and campy and
- 1:17:12Speaker 4: all those things, but that was like beyond, but.
- 1:17:15Speaker 2: You know what? If they have Phaedra come back after
- 1:17:19Speaker 2: what she pulled to remind people what she pulled, she
- 1:17:22Speaker 2: told Portia a blatant lie that Candy and her husband were,
- 1:17:28Speaker 2: had a plan to get her drunk and like, essay
- 1:17:31Speaker 2: her and it all came out and then they got
- 1:17:35Speaker 2: rid of Phaedra but then after a couple years they're
- 1:17:37Speaker 2: like you're pretty funny come back so I'm like and
- 1:17:39Speaker 2: I and so will Kenya come back maybe I don't
- 1:17:43Speaker 2: know like I just feel like what they just wait
- 1:17:46Speaker 2: and they just enough time and I don't know do
- 1:17:51Speaker 2: you think Kenya will ever come back I don't know
- 1:17:55Speaker 2: she may.
- 1:17:55Speaker 4: Get to a point where she's like I don't think
- 1:17:58Speaker 4: I need this as much as I thought I did.
- 1:18:00Speaker 2: You do. Because you're like 52 with a four-year-old and
- 1:18:03Speaker 2: you don't have a husband and you need the money.
- 1:18:06Speaker 2: And by being on TV, all the other money comes.
- 1:18:10Speaker 2: You know, like the appearances, the products. She built that
- 1:18:14Speaker 2: whole company, Kenya Moore Hair Care, like whatever I've seen
- 1:18:18Speaker 2: on the internet, it's not even open anymore. So that's
- 1:18:20Speaker 2: not making money. So yeah, she's got to try to
- 1:18:25Speaker 2: redeem herself. But now that there's a legal issue, admitting
- 1:18:29Speaker 2: you're wrong or apologizing, they're probably telling her not to.
- 1:18:32Speaker 4: You know what I mean? I don't know. This is
- 1:18:34Speaker 4: all so dark.
- 1:18:35Speaker 2: And why would you ever believe her if she, like,
- 1:18:37Speaker 2: went and knocked on Britt's door with flowers and begged
- 1:18:40Speaker 2: on her knees to, like, drop the lawsuit against Bravo
- 1:18:42Speaker 2: and let's just go back and have a great season
- 1:18:44Speaker 2: where we make up? That would be the smart thing
- 1:18:47Speaker 2: to do. But would Brit do it? Would Brit go, yeah,
- 1:18:50Speaker 2: I want to be on the show that badly that
- 1:18:52Speaker 2: I'm not going to gamble and try to like see
- 1:18:54Speaker 2: if I don't get what I deserve.
- 1:18:56Speaker 4: It was so upset me in the beginning of the season.
- 1:18:58Speaker 2: Now you don't care.
- 1:18:59Speaker 4: It made me hard. It made it hard to watch
- 1:19:02Speaker 4: because I just felt like it felt so dark.
- 1:19:07Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:19:07Speaker 4: And I didn't I just didn't think I could They
- 1:19:10Speaker 4: could turn it around.
- 1:19:11Speaker 6: Right.
- 1:19:13Speaker 2: Oh, interesting. Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
- 1:19:15Speaker 4: Oh, she looks so pretty.
- 1:19:16Speaker 2: According to Reality Blurb, this girl, Alexia.
- 1:19:20Speaker 4: Alexia.
- 1:19:21Speaker 2: Alexia's husband, Todd, who she loves. Todd, he said, I'm
- 1:19:26Speaker 2: not going to buy an apartment. It's better to rent,
- 1:19:28Speaker 2: even though he's in real estate. Filed for divorce. She
- 1:19:31Speaker 2: begged for him back. We're watching that. We don't know
- 1:19:32Speaker 2: what's going on. He just bought a place in his
- 1:19:34Speaker 2: own name for $ 4. 2 million. Oh, wow.
- 1:19:36Speaker 4: Good for him.
- 1:19:38Speaker 2: So whatever that weird relationship is, I don't think there's
- 1:19:41Speaker 2: a girl on this earth that thinks that she should
- 1:19:43Speaker 2: ever date him or sleep with him again.
- 1:19:45Speaker 4: But you know why people like that story or follow it?
- 1:19:49Speaker 4: Because I think there is a point where all of
- 1:19:52Speaker 4: us have had a friend who's obsessed with getting back
- 1:19:55Speaker 4: with their ex and the question is, Do you really
- 1:19:58Speaker 4: love this person or are you afraid of being alone?
- 1:20:00Speaker 2: Totally. This is another show you said should be a
- 1:20:03Speaker 2: real good one. Netflix, July 16th.
- 1:20:05Speaker 4: Everyone's going to be obsessed.
- 1:20:08Speaker 2: Amy Bradley is missing. Tell us about this really quickly
- 1:20:11Speaker 2: before we end.
- 1:20:11Speaker 4: Okay, it's three episodes. Amy Bradley goes on a cruise
- 1:20:14Speaker 4: ship with her parents and her brother in, what was
- 1:20:18Speaker 4: the year? It was like 1998. Oh, okay. So, you know,
- 1:20:21Speaker 4: on cruise ships, there's like the disco and people go
- 1:20:24Speaker 4: up there late at night and you're drinking. They have
- 1:20:26Speaker 4: video of her dancing. She looks inebriated. She goes back
- 1:20:29Speaker 4: to her cabin with her brother and her parents. He
- 1:20:32Speaker 4: hangs out with her for a little bit. She's like,
- 1:20:35Speaker 4: I'm going to stay up. So she's on the patio.
- 1:20:38Speaker 4: It's about five o'clock in the morning. Her father wakes up.
- 1:20:41Speaker 4: He sees her laying on the patio chair, wakes up
- 1:20:43Speaker 4: at 550. She's gone. She has never, she disappeared from
- 1:20:47Speaker 4: the boat. There have been sightings of her afterward. There
- 1:20:52Speaker 4: was one man that saw her in a brothel or
- 1:20:56Speaker 4: claimed to have seen her. And then there was also
- 1:20:58Speaker 4: pictures of her in some sort of site where it
- 1:21:01Speaker 4: looks exactly like her kind of dolled up, like somewhere
- 1:21:04Speaker 4: someone would go to purchase.
- 1:21:08Speaker 2: A prostitute, a prostitute.
- 1:21:10Speaker 4: So, oh, and they also created a website where they
- 1:21:13Speaker 4: posted all these memories of her car, her dog. And
- 1:21:16Speaker 4: there has been an IP address that would ping the
- 1:21:19Speaker 4: website on anniversaries of stuff, birthdays, that kind of thing.
- 1:21:23Speaker 4: So there's reason to believe that she may still be alive.
- 1:21:26Speaker 4: And the question is, what happened to her? Was she
- 1:21:29Speaker 4: put into sex trafficking? Like, what happened?
- 1:21:31Speaker 2: The other question is, does she have a Netflix subscription?
- 1:21:34Speaker 2: I know. And if you saw this and it was you...
- 1:21:39Speaker 2: How could you not reach out? That's what I just
- 1:21:41Speaker 2: can't believe.
- 1:21:41Speaker 4: I'm going to tell you why. Because I think that
- 1:21:44Speaker 4: if there was an issue with drugs and then once
- 1:21:46Speaker 4: you're trafficked, you know, they give you drugs, you may
- 1:21:50Speaker 4: be embarrassed. Like, I'm not the version that I was.
- 1:21:54Speaker 4: I'm terrified. There were sightings of her. There's one woman
- 1:21:57Speaker 4: in particular says, I saw her in a bathroom. There
- 1:21:59Speaker 4: were men that were standing outside the bathroom. Basically, like,
- 1:22:02Speaker 4: you're going to, like, hurry up, right? She didn't seem
- 1:22:05Speaker 4: to be able to be on her own at all. Hmm.
- 1:22:09Speaker 4: So terrifying.
- 1:22:10Speaker 2: So very juicy.
- 1:22:11Speaker 4: You'll watch that one.
- 1:22:12Speaker 2: Okay, we'll watch that one. And then Kate, where can
- 1:22:14Speaker 2: they follow you and listen to your podcast?
- 1:22:16Speaker 4: Okay, so Reality Life with Kate Casey, everywhere where you
- 1:22:19Speaker 4: listen to podcasts. Every Monday, put out a list of
- 1:22:21Speaker 4: what to watch. And this is important because I'm going
- 1:22:24Speaker 4: to save you a ton of time. It tells you
- 1:22:26Speaker 4: what to watch on unscripted TV. So reality shows and documentaries,
- 1:22:30Speaker 4: and that's at katecasey.substack.com. And I always have really good recommendations.
- 1:22:35Speaker 2: Awesome.
