- 0:56Speaker 2: I am so excited because this is one year that I have actually started my podcast and I wanted to have my girl, angie Sims which is Legal Girlfriends, which is my girlfriend on to.
- 1:08Speaker 2: Let's talk again to recap what we talked about last year.
- 1:11Speaker 2: I'm so excited to have you, angie.
- 1:13Speaker 2: Thank you so much for coming being on this podcast.
- 1:17Speaker 2: I truly appreciate it.
- 1:18Speaker 2: Let me talk about Angie's bio.
- 1:19Speaker 2: First, synergy League of Girlfriends Angie Sims.

- 1:49Speaker 2: In 2016, she answered an assignment to create an organization that connects businesswomen at their souls.
- 1:57Speaker 2: The League of Girlfriends now has nearly 600 members nationally, because every woman needs a girlfriend.
- 2:03Speaker 2: Her assignment, angie, creates sustainable connections, leadership and professional development skills and top tier events for professional women of all backgrounds to accelerate you from confusion to clarity and from your purpose to your profits.
- 2:21Speaker 2: And I really have to say, angie, you have actually helped me out a lot as far as being my coach, coaching me to do help with my business Legal Shield to get it out there in small business to get it out there, and always been my mentor, to be the one that's been my cheerleader.
- 2:39Speaker 2: So thank you so much, angie.
- 2:40Speaker 2: Angie, tell us a little bit more about you and I'm going to ask you some questions.
- 2:52Speaker 3: First of all, wanda, thank you so much, and what I want to thank you most for is following the voice of God, is what I'm going to say.
- 2:55Speaker 3: You're not quite there yet, because I know what God is telling you, what he's telling me for you, and sometimes folks don't want to listen to our getting there.
- 3:04Speaker 3: First of all, also, I want to say you look absolutely beautiful.
- 3:07Speaker 3: You should have sent me the memo that I should have dressed up, girl.
- 3:11Speaker 3: I got on it.
- 3:11Speaker 3: You look beautiful.
- 3:13Speaker 3: Happy anniversary Congratulations.
- 3:16Speaker 3: You deserve all the accolades in the world.
- 3:20Speaker 3: We've been friends, real girlfriends, for about.
- 3:23Speaker 3: Let's see.
- 3:24Speaker 3: I've been in Georgia.
- 3:24Speaker 3: I just celebrate my 10th anniversary on Friday.
- 3:27Speaker 3: Yes, six years, six years, you and I.
- 3:30Speaker 3: So I had not been here that very long.
- 3:32Speaker 3: I just started League of Girlfriends in 2000.
- 3:35Speaker 3: It must have been 2008,.
- 3:38Speaker 3: I think it was 2008.
- 3:39Speaker 3: So League of Girlfriends is eight years and I had met you not too long after that and you have been a member and now are on my board as a charter member, and I thank God for that because I do really appreciate your wisdom.
- 3:58Speaker 3: And, wanda, many of you may not know, I am experiencing a health journey right now.
- 3:59Speaker 3: I'll say a journey because God is healing me every single day and I'm actually in a hospital where I've been since December and Wanda has come to visit me.
- 4:10Speaker 3: Wanda has brought me snacks.
- 4:11Speaker 3: We've come here and done some business coaching.
- 4:12Speaker 3: It has been a wonderful journey with our friendship, and I know that God is pushing you more into this small business and more into using your counseling degrees, because you are a specialty at that, honey.
- 4:24Speaker 3: You do what you do in a wondrous way.
- 4:26Speaker 3: You listen to people in a wondrous way.
- 4:28Speaker 3: You are just a beautiful spirit and I'm happy for your success and all the things you do with LegalShield.
- 4:34Speaker 3: But I know WD Pearson has some awesome things to offer to the world in addition to small business.
- 4:41Speaker 3: That coaching you're about to do.
- 4:42Speaker 3: Wanda's about to come into my coaching program for real like the real coaching program, not the girlfriend coaching program and really get that sustainable information that'll make you go to your next level.
- 4:53Speaker 3: You are, you're beautiful inside and out.
- 4:55Speaker 3: I'm just so blessed to have you as a real girlfriend and a member of the organization pushing it forward and everything, and I just appreciate you so much.
- 5:03Speaker 3: So thank you for having me be one of your guests for your first anniversary.
- 5:11Speaker 3: I celebrate you from the hospital bed and from everywhere else.
- 5:12Speaker 2: So thank God for you, wanda, thank you so much.
- 5:13Speaker 2: You got where.
- 5:14Speaker 2: You're gonna make me cry.
- 5:15Speaker 2: I'm about ready to cry.
- 5:16Speaker 2: Thank you for such kind words that you show and we, just we we bonded from the time we met at Experience Connections which is my first getting out networking and I truly appreciate you.
- 5:26Speaker 2: I remember you calling me.
- 5:27Speaker 2: I was in Chicago, I was home.
- 5:29Speaker 2: You said, wanda, I want you to be part of my girlfriends, my League of Girlfriends.
- 5:33Speaker 2: I said what's that?
- 5:34Speaker 2: What's the League of Girlfriends?
- 5:35Speaker 2: And ever since then we've been joined at the hip.
- 5:38Speaker 2: Angie, you created that experience for us.
- 5:42Speaker 2: When COVID happened, we were actually on your show.
- 5:44Speaker 2: You were doing the podcast.
- 5:45Speaker 2: As far as your show, what was the name of that podcast?
- 5:48Speaker 2: And it's still on Spotify.
- 5:56Speaker 3: Girlfriends.
- 5:56Speaker 3: I'm sorry I muted myself and you put my wrong picture up.
- 5:59Speaker 3: Wanda, you got to show my other picture.
- 6:01Speaker 3: Yeah, it was lead girlfriends, super, super girlfriends, super girlfriends is what it was, and it was a platform when nobody was going live.
- 6:12Speaker 3: Maybe I did that, what maybe I should.
- 6:15Speaker 3: That was when I did it there, you are there, you are.
- 6:18Speaker 3: So, yeah, we get rid of the other one, okay, yeah, so the program you're talking about I ran during COVID was wonderful.
- 6:25Speaker 3: It was essentially yeah, I think you put me on the wrong.
- 6:30Speaker 3: Yeah, it was essentially a program where tons of business women came on and they didn't know how to go live.
- 6:41Speaker 3: Some of them didn't go, didn't had never gone live before on Facebook or any place and were definitely afraid of going live.
- 6:48Speaker 3: And so I made this whole platform.
- 6:51Speaker 3: I called everybody and said, hey, I'm going to do something on Sunday Extraordinary.
- 6:55Speaker 3: And I built that program in a matter of an hour.
- 6:58Speaker 3: So on Saturday I woke up and said, oh my God, my kid can't go back to school because of COVID.
- 7:03Speaker 3: On Monday, what in the heck are my girlfriends going to do?
- 7:05Speaker 3: Because we were all used to meeting each other in person at events like the Experience Connections event.
- 7:10Speaker 3: So I said, okay, I'm going to create something.
- 7:12Speaker 3: So the next day I invited everybody to a call.
- 7:15Speaker 3: I said, hey, you guys jump on, I'm getting ready to do it.
- 7:17Speaker 3: I didn't know what I was going to do.
- 7:19Speaker 3: I just knew I had to do something.
- 7:20Speaker 3: So I created this live platform where every day at 11 o'clock in 630, two of my girlfriend members of the League of Girlfriends would jump on and tell a little bit about their business.
- 7:32Speaker 3: It kept our little community going.
- 7:35Speaker 3: One because we stayed connected with each other.
- 7:37Speaker 3: Two because people still had the ability to reach out and share their businesses and make money, and it gave people something to do.
- 7:44Speaker 3: We were at home in the house with our crazy families all day.
- 7:47Speaker 3: It was a wonderful experience and women like Wanda were like I ain't going to lie, I'm going to do that.
- 7:54Speaker 3: I said, oh, you're going to lie.
- 7:56Speaker 3: And I told everybody because it wasn't just you, wanda, there were so many women that did not want to do it because they were afraid had never done it before, and I said, oh no, you'll be fine, I'll see you on Wednesday 11 o'clock.
- 8:07Speaker 3: Click.
- 8:08Speaker 3: Yeah, they're not not show up.
- 8:10Speaker 3: And not one person did not show up because you were showing up for yourself, absolutely.
- 8:16Speaker 3: And after that, susan Guthrie, everybody was going live after that it was just a matter of sometimes you need a girlfriend to give you that push.
- 8:24Speaker 3: I always say my coach and I give you a gut punch, but it feels like a hug and later on you'd be like, did I just get punched?
- 8:31Speaker 2: Right, you punched me because I said I would never go live on Facebook and Angie said oh yes, you are.
- 8:37Speaker 2: Next thing, I know I'm on Facebook and I guess because of that that inspired me to do more of what I'm doing now.
- 8:43Speaker 2: And actually Edelaine is the one that said Wanda, you need to do podcasts.
- 8:47Speaker 2: I said podcasts.
- 8:48Speaker 3: Why do I need to do?
- 8:49Speaker 2: podcasts, even like with my newsletters.
- 8:51Speaker 2: My virtual assistant said Wanda, you need to do a video.
- 8:53Speaker 2: So all of that took me out of my comfort zone to be who I am today, and I have to thank you, since you're the one who pushed me the most here to say get on.
- 9:02Speaker 2: Let me ask you a question, though, and we actually talked about some of this here what inspired you to focus on fostering connections and building sisterhood among women yes, among women?
- 9:12Speaker 3: So I'm gonna tell you, the number one thing that has pushed me in everything I do is the Lord.
- 9:17Speaker 3: Quite honestly and I know a lot of people say that's the God, but I'm gonna the same I woke up and said what am I going to do tomorrow?
- 9:25Speaker 3: It was a Saturday, I'm just not about that.
- 9:27Speaker 3: God got away and waking me up on Saturday morning.
- 9:30Speaker 3: It was a Saturday morning when he woke me up and said go build a website.
- 9:35Speaker 3: And okay, I'll go build a website.
- 9:38Speaker 3: I build websites all the time and I've been building websites since 2000 when you had to write the code baby.
- 9:42Speaker 3: Building a website since 2000, when you had to write the code baby, and when a bracket wasn't there, your website wouldn't show up.
- 9:47Speaker 3: So I know about building a website.
- 9:47Speaker 3: So I went to my computer, built a website, started putting bells and whistles on it and pink colors, and I was like what, what?
- 9:52Speaker 3: And I just kept on going oh, here's, we can do this in Atlanta, we can do this and do that.
- 9:57Speaker 3: And I pushed away from my desk a few hours later and looked up and said league of girlfriends, whatever god, whatever god.
- 10:02Speaker 3: But I said whatever god, and I pressed publish.
- 10:04Speaker 3: And looked up and said League of Girlfriends, whatever God, whatever God.
- 10:05Speaker 3: But I said whatever God and I pressed publish.
- 10:07Speaker 3: See, most people say whatever God.
- 10:11Speaker 3: They don't listen to God and they go and make some biscuits or go cook dinner for their husband or go to church or whatever or go pray on it.
- 10:17Speaker 3: Ain't nothing wrong praying on it.
- 10:18Speaker 3: But I didn't need to pray on it because I had a direct line message Y'all hear me direct line message.
- 10:27Speaker 3: Y'all hear me A direct line message from the Lord and that was to build this League of Girlfriends organization.
- 10:29Speaker 3: It started out slow from people actually joining the organization, but God told me to build this community.
- 10:34Speaker 3: I didn't know what it was going to be, but within a month thousands of women had been to a website that I did not even know how to market.
- 10:40Speaker 3: I hated Facebook.
- 10:42Speaker 3: I hated all this because I thought it was stupid.
- 10:44Speaker 3: I thought you know, I was a corporate America girl.
- 10:47Speaker 3: I worked at Citigroup Smith Barney in C-suite positions for almost 15 years, so to me social media was whack.
- 10:55Speaker 3: Like why are you on social media telling people your business and showing pictures of you and taking pictures in a bathroom?
- 11:01Speaker 3: You're stupid.
- 11:02Speaker 3: So I didn't like social media, but I had to use social media to have a business.
- 11:07Speaker 3: How do you have a business and you're not on social media, especially now advanced to 2024, you absolutely have to be on social media.
- 11:14Speaker 3: So, I can't say that I had this grand scheme plan because I didn't mess with chicks on no level, like I had a very few girlfriends and I believe you can't get no new old friends.
- 11:24Speaker 3: So when I was out looking for friends I'm never looking for friends, but God created this organization and put me on assignment to build an organization which thank God for it too, because the minute I got sick, everybody came in droves.
- 11:39Speaker 3: What can I do?
- 11:40Speaker 3: I had you are a testament.
- 11:42Speaker 3: I had to tell women they can, and I feel you can't come visit me in the hospital Because I'm like if I didn't used to go hang out with you for lunch anyway, just because you're a member of the organization, you can't not at the hospital.
- 11:53Speaker 3: No, ma'am, because it's a very intimate thing and it's very, I'm very vulnerable and when you have you're on this journey Because people could come here and put things in your mind and even though you feel like you're a strong person, you never know how you can be influenced or how a negative spirit could come into your healing.
- 12:22Speaker 3: And God is surrounding me with incredible.
- 12:25Speaker 3: I'm telling you and I'll keep mentioning Susan Guthrie because that was one of my first girlfriends the first girl, not one of the first girlfriend that I met when I was in Georgia and she is an incredible person.
- 12:35Speaker 3: Susan and Kim and you and Tyra and Allison and Christine and I have Tammy, I have I could probably list 10 to 50 day ones who were calling me.
- 12:49Speaker 3: And I know that's incredible because I spoke to a girlfriend.
- 12:53Speaker 3: I was on the Atlanta Black Chambers call and I was talking about legal girlfriends or was asking people to join a black expert or something, and I asked who needs help with getting sponsors?
- 13:04Speaker 3: And so a few people said, oh, I need help, I need help.
- 13:07Speaker 3: So I got on the phone call with this one young lady and she lives in Douglasville and I was telling her I was experiencing health challenges.
- 13:13Speaker 3: I'm in hospital.
- 13:14Speaker 3: She said, oh, that happened to me last year.
- 13:15Speaker 3: I've been sick for a year, I was almost homeless and blah, blah, blah.
- 13:18Speaker 3: And she said and you know what, I had built this organization and I had all these people I was helping to doing this and when I got sick, nobody, she said it was like crickets and that really slapped me in my face to say, boy am I blessed yeah, you're blessed because you're a blessing to us every single person said girl, angie, don't stop calling, and I don't, angie don't stop supporting and Adeline and Tariya both they're like literally, angie will be at three or four events in one day and you have no idea.
- 13:48Speaker 3: I'm like let me go support this one, let me go to this event, let me go find some information about this, because I am a gatherer of information.
- 13:54Speaker 3: I love finding out new stuff.
- 13:58Speaker 2: And this is actually my month that I launched my book God's Grace Through the Fire.
- 14:03Speaker 2: From Struggle to Triumph and Angie.
- 14:05Speaker 2: Even though I had no idea that she was sick, she made it to my book launch.
- 14:10Speaker 3: Twice in one day.
- 14:11Speaker 3: I came twice in one day.
- 14:12Speaker 2: Yeah, she came twice in one day and I had no idea what was going on with her, and when I found out and Angie was like no, you don't have to know, you're not pushing me away, I'm coming and you shouldn't push other people away so I had to do my godly talk with her.
- 14:32Speaker 2: Yes, indeed yes, but I'm going to ask you something, though, and then we're talking about this here.
- 14:34Speaker 2: What are some of the biggest challenges women face when building authentic connections?
- 14:36Speaker 2: Today, you're mute repeat the question.
- 14:39Speaker 2: Wanda, I'm so sorry what are some of the biggest challenges women face when building authentic connections today?
- 14:46Speaker 2: Just like what you were talking about, okay?
- 14:47Speaker 3: so I'm going to tell you what women tell me are their challenges, because I have not had this challenge.
- 14:52Speaker 3: Women tell me that they hear and that they have experienced women being catty and that they hear and they have experienced women being in competition versus women actually support each other.
- 15:03Speaker 3: Not been my experience, you know what?
- 15:05Speaker 3: Because I don't play no reindeer games and because I lead this organization almost 600 women I lead in a way that says we collaborate.
- 15:14Speaker 3: I lead in a way that says, hey, there is no drama.
- 15:17Speaker 3: I lead in a way that says we're going to support each other from beginning to end.
- 15:21Speaker 3: And because I lead that way, guess what happens?
- 15:24Speaker 3: Girlfriends follow that way, at least in my organization.
- 15:28Speaker 3: What I say is if they got drama, I don't see it.
- 15:30Speaker 3: They hadn't it for me because they know she don't play them reindeer games.
- 15:33Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
- 15:34Speaker 2: I love that because you're right, women, it's in competition and I never been that way.
- 15:38Speaker 2: I just want to help people.
- 15:40Speaker 2: I'm like why are you jealous?
- 15:41Speaker 2: And I went through this all my life jealousy.
- 15:44Speaker 3: Because you're beautiful.
- 15:45Speaker 3: You know why people are jealous girl.
- 15:47Speaker 3: Stop that.
- 15:48Speaker 2: No, I didn't understand that.
- 15:49Speaker 2: But thank you for the compliment.
- 15:51Speaker 2: But no, it really is that having an authentic friend that you can trust and it's all about trust, trust and faith, and they're going to have your back, so it makes a big difference.
- 16:06Speaker 2: But let me ask you another question what are some effective ways to women can support each other in personal and professional growth?
- 16:12Speaker 3: OK, you said what's the way that women can support each other?
- 16:15Speaker 2: Yeah, some effective ways that women can afford to support each other in personal and professional growth.
- 16:17Speaker 2: That women can afford to support each other in personal and professional growth.
- 16:21Speaker 3: Okay.
- 16:21Speaker 3: So here's the thing when you have girlfriends, even if you think they're strong girlfriends, even business girlfriends, when you think everybody's okay, they're probably not Just reach out to people, the most important thing you could be is there, be present, call people.
- 16:38Speaker 3: So again, I keep talking about this over 600 members I have, but they will hear from me randomly for no reason.
- 16:46Speaker 3: I say, hey, girl, I'm just calling to check on you, not because I want you to do nothing, I'm calling to check on you, how's your business going and how's your life going?
- 16:53Speaker 3: Because here's the thing I always say is that it's not business, it's personal, but you got to get personal to get to the business.
- 16:58Speaker 3: That's my slogan.
- 16:59Speaker 3: It's not business it, but you got to get personal to get to the business.
- 17:03Speaker 3: That's my slogan.
- 17:03Speaker 3: It's not business, it's personal, but you got to get personal to get to the business.
- 17:04Speaker 3: If I don't know that your husband just left you and I call you talking about business, you ain't got time to talk to me.
- 17:10Speaker 3: If I don't know your babysit Because I'm going to tell you what let something happen to Smooch.
- 17:14Speaker 3: I don't give a darn about legal girlfriends and the rest of y'all for real then that's just keeping all the way.
- 17:20Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, the first thing that has to happen is the spirit of God has to.
- 17:24Speaker 3: I love I heard who said this.
- 17:26Speaker 3: Who did I hear say oh, terrence Howard, I heard him on the radio, some snippet I saw.
- 17:32Speaker 3: He said when you look at people, there's remember that there's a little piece of God in them.
- 17:39Speaker 3: When you're talking to people, remember there's a little piece of God in them.
- 17:42Speaker 3: And when you're talking to people, remember there's a little piece of God in them.
- 17:43Speaker 3: And then he added on and guess what?
- 17:44Speaker 3: They should see that little piece of God in you.
- 17:46Speaker 3: Show up for people and be the best thing you could be is there.
- 17:51Speaker 3: I have been present in so many women's lives in so many ways and even from my hospital bed, people are telling me oh girl, you're such an inspiration to me.
- 17:59Speaker 3: I got nurses and cna's that come in here on their breaks and sit down just to get a cup of something, a cup of encouragement, and they say, miss angie, what you think about as a girl, whatever.
- 18:10Speaker 3: But and I'm so blessed, wanda, I'm so blessed that I am in this situation, uh, with my health, and I'm not able to walk right now, and this time time last year I was speaking on stages, driving and networking events all types of stuff, taking over the Paulding County chapter girl.
- 18:25Speaker 3: It was great, I was doing all types of stuff, but God saw fit to put me in this situation for a temporary time.
- 18:31Speaker 3: I am healing, I'm getting better every single day and I believe that all things are possible through Christ.
- 18:38Speaker 3: That strengthens me.
- 18:39Speaker 3: And that's why I believe 100% restoration is coming to my life.
- 18:43Speaker 2: I believe it too.
- 18:43Speaker 2: I believe it too because I have dreams about you.
- 18:46Speaker 2: I say Angie's going to be walking soon, she's going to get back and walk soon.
- 18:52Speaker 2: But yeah, he set us down for a moment, just a moment, to really make us think about what's our next step.
- 18:55Speaker 2: And I'm going to ask you about that now.
- 18:56Speaker 2: How can you make sure that sisterhood is inclusive, supported and uplifting for women from diverse backgrounds, girl.
- 19:05Speaker 3: So if you know anything about the league of girlfriends, when you see a member, do you ever see just a black member?
- 19:10Speaker 3: no, it's inclusive ever see just a white member.
- 19:13Speaker 3: So most of my organization, I'll say just about 50 50 and I'd say 48-48, because there's members from other countries, like Peru and stuff like that.
- 19:24Speaker 3: But if you look at League of Girlfriends members any of the pictures you'll see a lot of women of color, because we're here in the chocolate place in Atlanta, right?
- 19:31Speaker 3: But there are tremendous number of Caucasian women that are also a member of League of Girlfriends and we don't look at that first.
- 19:38Speaker 3: Let me just keep it real, though, because my background is diversity.
- 19:42Speaker 3: I was the deputy director of diversity for Smith Barney, so I'm just going to tell the truth here.
- 19:46Speaker 3: We all see people for their color first, that whole thing.
- 19:49Speaker 3: I grew up and I don't see colors, because if it wasn't a difference, we wouldn't say black woman, we say woman black.
- 19:58Speaker 3: Oh, I met a woman black today.
- 20:00Speaker 3: Or we say, oh, I met a woman white today.
- 20:02Speaker 3: We don't say that, we say white woman.
- 20:04Speaker 3: Why?
- 20:04Speaker 3: Because it has mattered for so long and it's institutionalized that comes first, and it's institutionalized that we tend to see that first, fair or unfair.
- 20:15Speaker 3: Now we can try to come back off that which we do in League of Girlfriends.
- 20:18Speaker 3: It's just a nurturing sisterhood, and that's what it is.
- 20:23Speaker 3: And so this organization is very inclusive because it's natural we bring the girlfriend thing first, we bring the sisterhood, we bring the support first.
- 20:31Speaker 3: It's not supporting you based on oh, I'm going to support you, white lady, I'm going to support you African-American lady no, it's, I'm going to support you.
- 20:41Speaker 3: Woman and woman business owners.
- 20:42Speaker 3: And lady no it's, I'm going to support you.
- 20:43Speaker 3: Woman and woman business owners.
- 20:44Speaker 3: And I'll say about the majority of our women in the organization are business owners, because that's where I go networking right Now.
- 20:48Speaker 3: We'll have a few ladies that are there and they may not be business owners yet, but maybe they want to write a book.
- 20:54Speaker 3: Every person says, oh, someday I'm going to write a book.
- 20:57Speaker 3: Or people say to them you should write a book, and having a book that will help you leverage your business.
- 21:01Speaker 3: It's a tremendous organization.
- 21:03Speaker 3: I am honored that God chose me in this sense.
- 21:07Speaker 3: So we've been a little dormant while I've been sick because my newsletters haven't been going out the way they should and things like that.
- 21:13Speaker 3: But the thing that I believe I have done masterfully through God is connect the people at their souls.
- 21:21Speaker 3: So nobody forgets about the League of Girlfriends.
- 21:24Speaker 3: Nobody has ever said to me I don't want to be a member of that, or nobody's ever been a member and said I don't want to be a member or continue.
- 21:32Speaker 3: There may be some challenges they have financially or they're not.
- 21:35Speaker 3: They can't do it for that reason.
- 21:36Speaker 3: But nobody has ever said I don't like League of Girlfriends.
- 21:39Speaker 3: No, they just don't rejoin because we may not have done a good enough job with our technology and support and reminding them.
- 21:48Speaker 3: But I have a few tools in my back pocket that are about to come back out for December to showcase League of Girlfriends in a different way and ways.
- 21:59Speaker 3: We can support each other in different ways and, believe me, this League of Girlfriends organization is truly an assignment for God that I'm not going to stop at doing because I know it's edifying him and I'm so honored to be here.
- 22:13Speaker 2: And that was one of my questions.
- 22:14Speaker 2: I'm going to ask you about the future, as we're winding down here and you just talked about it.
- 22:18Speaker 2: What do you see sisterhood movements going in the future?
- 22:27Speaker 3: especially with the rise of digital communities.
- 22:28Speaker 3: Yeah, what we have to do and what's happening now is that so many areas are saturated and oversaturated and there's so much out there about should you have this and we talked a little bit about SEO the other day Should I know more about this?
- 22:39Speaker 3: Should I know more about that?
- 22:40Speaker 3: So what I'm working with teams, with some team members, is working on what are the appropriate things.
- 22:46Speaker 3: What do girlfriends really need right now?
- 22:48Speaker 3: What we need is more information about social media and where we should be present and where we necessarily don't need to be.
- 22:55Speaker 3: Maybe we're spending too much time on TikTok or not enough time on TikTok.
- 22:59Speaker 3: So it's really about narrowing down the information that's appropriate for girlfriends in 2024 and 2025.
- 23:06Speaker 3: And what are the other things?
- 23:07Speaker 3: We're going to focus on?
- 23:08Speaker 3: Self-care.
- 23:09Speaker 3: We're going to focus on mental health, the things that we haven't talked about as much, because, again, we go back to that it's not business is personal, but you got to be personal and we have real challenges going on in our lives.
- 23:22Speaker 3: People are getting evicted from their homes, people don't know how to pay their bills, people don't know where to get groceries.
- 23:27Speaker 3: There are so many different resources that we can come together and support each other in life as well as in business, and that self-care, that mental wellness, that digital space.
- 23:39Speaker 3: Should I use AI?
- 23:39Speaker 3: How should I use it?
- 23:41Speaker 3: What should I use it?
- 23:42Speaker 3: How can I be a speaker?
- 23:43Speaker 3: There are things that are really relevant for women business owners in 2024, 2025 that weren't necessarily relevant when we first started this organization.
- 23:51Speaker 3: So we're going to focus on that and in that supporting each other.
- 23:55Speaker 3: We have a lot of girlfriends.
- 23:56Speaker 3: Dr Donna Bellinger is awesome at sales tips and there's so many things women don't do enough of being assertive in asking for the money and things like that.
- 24:07Speaker 3: There's a lot of things that women some women lack, some women are really good at.
- 24:12Speaker 3: So we're going to lean on the resource and expertise that we have within our organization to really create stronger connections with one another and really help one another with our businesses and in our lives.
- 24:24Speaker 2: That's awesome.
- 24:24Speaker 2: That's awesome.
- 24:25Speaker 2: I appreciate it.
- 24:26Speaker 2: That's why I love you, angie, and I'm gonna tell you I'm looking at my WD Pierce associates and she's the one that said you gotta get your own brand one.
- 24:33Speaker 2: What if Liga Shield goes away?
- 24:34Speaker 2: Liga Shield not gonna go away.
- 24:36Speaker 3: Yeah, but guess what they?
- 24:45Speaker 2: didn't think Kmart.
- 24:46Speaker 2: They didn't think Joy DeRoss, who thought Kmart would go away.
- 24:48Speaker 2: Girl, you get a whole slip in Kmart, a whole body, slip Even Sears right.
- 24:50Speaker 3: Who ever thought the Sears?
- 24:51Speaker 2: would go away girl.
- 24:51Speaker 3: For real Blockbuster.
- 24:52Speaker 3: Who thought Blockbuster Video was going away?
- 24:54Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, then that's next to go over Sears robot girl.
- 24:58Speaker 3: Oh, talking about your Easter dress where you going your Easter dress is from?
- 25:02Speaker 3: You gotta go to Macy's and pay a lot more money.
- 25:05Speaker 2: Yeah, but no, I appreciate you really guiding me into what I am today and even writing the book, and we talk about that.
- 25:11Speaker 2: As far as books, I know you have your books coming out or your new book.
- 25:15Speaker 2: What's the name of your new book that's coming out?
- 25:16Speaker 3: so it's called the devil thought he had me, girl.
- 25:17Speaker 3: You ever heard that devil thought he had me?
- 25:18Speaker 3: The devil thought he had me, girl.
- 25:19Speaker 3: You ever heard of that devil thought he had me?
- 25:20Speaker 3: The devil thought he had me.
- 25:22Speaker 3: Even in this situation he don't have me, girl, not your girl Can't pull me down.
- 25:26Speaker 3: But one thing I want to say too, about this whole competition versus collaboration thing.
- 25:31Speaker 3: I'm so glad that you created this section of your podcast talking about collaboration, because it's so important.
- 25:38Speaker 3: But guess what?
- 25:39Speaker 3: You have to be okay if somebody chooses not to collaborate with you.
- 25:48Speaker 2: So we're going to talk about your books, so you've written several books and I have a whole book camp.
- 25:51Speaker 2: It's okay.
- 25:51Speaker 3: If you do your book collaboration with somebody else, god leads you in a different way.
- 25:55Speaker 3: That's perfectly fine.
- 25:56Speaker 3: People have to be okay with that.
- 25:58Speaker 3: People have to make their own choices.
- 26:00Speaker 3: Now I can say what I think you should do with me, but guess what if God's telling you do it somewhere else?
- 26:04Speaker 3: You ought to listen to God before you listen to me, and that's what I did.
- 26:09Speaker 2: I listened to God because I said, when you was asking me at that time, I would never write a book, who wants to read my book?
- 26:14Speaker 2: And then I got what's in the code she asked.
- 26:16Speaker 2: You said one that God told me to call you out of the blue, yeah, and I was like, okay, I can't disobey God, just like you can disobey God about doing legal girlfriends.
- 26:24Speaker 2: So that was my first.
- 26:26Speaker 3: And I could have been wrong if I said oh, I can't believe you did your book with somebody else who cares.
- 26:30Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, I'm still going.
- 26:32Speaker 2: I don't care.
- 26:33Speaker 3: Girl, I'm going to tell you because God, with stuff that is crazy coming my way and crazy coming your way and crazy for us to do together, and it's not just and it might be about that book, it might, I just don't know.
- 26:49Speaker 3: But here's the thing I know what God speaks to me, he does.
- 26:50Speaker 3: So how am I going to deny when God speaks to somebody else quite honestly?
- 26:54Speaker 3: And guess what?
- 26:55Speaker 3: What if God didn't tell you?
- 26:56Speaker 3: What if you just said you was going to do it on your own?
- 26:58Speaker 3: People have to be okay with that.
- 27:00Speaker 2: There's nothing wrong with that, yeah, and that's what I did my last book.
- 27:04Speaker 2: I'm doing it on my own, my own book.
- 27:06Speaker 3: How many books do you have now, Wanda?
- 27:08Speaker 2: I have three.
- 27:08Speaker 2: I have writing notebooks.
- 27:17Speaker 2: Now the girl got three books.
- 27:17Speaker 2: Yeah, my last one because I didn't want to do another collaboration was God's Grace Through the Fire, from Struggle to Triumph, and that was my own book, self-published yeah, about your life experience yeah, yeah, about my life experience and which helped me to get to where I am today, especially now.
- 27:29Speaker 2: And we talk about collaboration.
- 27:31Speaker 2: That always has been my passion.
- 27:32Speaker 2: How can we collaborate with each other?
- 27:35Speaker 2: And that's how I came up with the title Ready Set, collaborate with Wanda Pearson, and I'm so proud because I didn't realize it was on all Audible.
- 27:42Speaker 2: It's on Audible.
- 27:45Speaker 3: Oh yeah, that's awesome.
- 27:47Speaker 2: I had that on all podcast platforms.
- 27:49Speaker 2: So that makes me happy and I'm pushing stuff out here for my anniversary month and actually my birthday month, because my birthday is November 15th and I think you're going to be coming out before my birthday.
- 28:00Speaker 3: So that makes you, you're a Scorpio.
- 28:03Speaker 2: I am a Scorpio.
- 28:03Speaker 2: I should have known Lord have mercy Scorpio women.
- 28:08Speaker 2: I'm a good Scorpio.
- 28:10Speaker 2: I'm a good Scorpio, okay, okay, okay.
- 28:14Speaker 2: I just tell you like it is.
- 28:16Speaker 2: That's all.
- 28:17Speaker 2: So, as we wind it down here, my dear, give us some last minute thoughts and also, what are your next projects that's coming up, that you can share with Donnie.
- 28:25Speaker 3: Right, some of my last.
- 28:26Speaker 3: Thank you for asking that, wanda, because some of my last minute thoughts are that it's really imperative that we support each other.
- 28:33Speaker 3: It's really imperative that you stop looking through your own lens and look through somebody else's.
- 28:39Speaker 3: Consider the next person.
- 28:40Speaker 3: So even I had these CNA nurses coming in here and sometimes they may not be in a good mood and I have to think to myself okay, I'm the one in the hospital bed, I'm the one that can't walk Y'all should be but at the same time I don't know what hell they just left at their house.
- 28:54Speaker 2: Yes.
- 28:56Speaker 3: We live with some crazy people for real.
- 28:58Speaker 3: And you don't know, she, this woman coming here, her husband could be a drunk, anything could be going on, her child could be sick.
- 29:05Speaker 3: But we just have to consider one another.
- 29:07Speaker 3: Somebody honks the horn and you in traffic, somebody doesn't speak to you, you just don't know what other folks is going through.
- 29:14Speaker 3: And I just say consider somebody.
- 29:16Speaker 3: And instead of talking about people, instead of putting something on somebody's name, why don't you just pray for them and ask God, whatever they're going through, to put their spirit in this mood or had them do this or didn't do this or that?
- 29:29Speaker 3: Take some time to pray for them and then also pray with, if you can, and pray for the people in your family.
- 29:37Speaker 3: Oftentimes we don't do that enough.
- 29:39Speaker 3: We read, we cuss somebody out, but we don't say god, please take this spirit of foolishness out of my husband.
- 29:44Speaker 3: But you know what I mean and we don't.
- 29:46Speaker 3: I guess what the fool might really be us.
- 29:48Speaker 3: So we might need to be praying for right.
- 29:51Speaker 3: We might need to be praying for us, you know.
- 29:53Speaker 3: So just consider.
- 29:55Speaker 3: That's my.
- 29:55Speaker 3: That's one of my last thoughts Before I talk about my project.
- 29:57Speaker 3: Go ahead, wanda.
- 29:58Speaker 2: I want to actually, as you talk about it, I just want to bring myself and I just sent you an inspiration.
- 30:02Speaker 2: I send my inspirations out every day.
- 30:04Speaker 3: And to me every morning.
- 30:05Speaker 3: I'm so grateful for them.
- 30:06Speaker 3: Thank you so much Every morning.
- 30:09Speaker 2: Wanda inspiration.
- 30:10Speaker 2: I sent it.
- 30:10Speaker 2: Don't send it and say they wonder where's my inspiration.
- 30:13Speaker 2: This one I want to read to you because it really makes a difference.
- 30:15Speaker 2: Actually, my marketing manager told me I need to start putting this on facebook.
- 30:19Speaker 2: I I say good morning.
- 30:20Speaker 2: It's human nature for us to judge others and we don't know what is going on in their lives.
- 30:24Speaker 2: God wants us to be slow to judge, because we also can be judged.
- 30:28Speaker 2: We never know what a person is going through.
- 30:30Speaker 2: Let the holy spirit help you to understand what the person is going through.
- 30:34Speaker 2: And I talk about the Bible verses actually do not judge and you will not be judged.
- 30:39Speaker 2: Do not condemn, you will not be condemned.
- 30:40Speaker 2: Forgive and you will be forgiven.
- 30:42Speaker 2: Luke 6, 37.
- 30:44Speaker 2: That is something I just want to put an inspiration spiritual in there.
- 30:49Speaker 3: And I'm going to hit you right back with something else you sent me.
- 30:51Speaker 3: This was just this morning.
- 30:53Speaker 3: May God quiet the noise that distracts us from the voice of destiny.
- 30:57Speaker 3: Y'all hear that, the voice of destiny.
- 30:59Speaker 3: Be kind and humble with one another.
- 31:01Speaker 3: I was just saying that.
- 31:02Speaker 3: May Jesus attune your ear to listen to his voice and not let humility distract us from our blessings.
- 31:10Speaker 3: See, I think too many of us don't listen to the voice of God.
- 31:14Speaker 3: God will tell you, don't make that right.
- 31:16Speaker 3: God will say this and say that You'll come and say oh, something told me, it ain't no something, it's God Silly.
- 31:23Speaker 3: It ain't no something, it's God Silly.
- 31:27Speaker 1: So it's.
- 31:27Speaker 3: God that told you not to send your son to so-and-so's house, and then later on you found out so-and-so was touching babies.
- 31:33Speaker 3: Right, it ain't something, it's God.
- 31:35Speaker 3: It's God Listen to the voice of God and follow up and follow through.
- 31:41Speaker 3: That's what too many of us don't do, so I just and I like to say every single time I do I'm sure I done missed some stuff, but I thank God, Like when he said go build that website and do this.
- 31:51Speaker 3: And I thank God I did listen, Cause had I not, who knows if I ever would have met you.
- 32:02Speaker 2: Exactly, exactly.
- 32:02Speaker 2: No, that is good, and that's what God gave me.
- 32:03Speaker 2: He's given me to put out into the world to share my thoughts, and so thank you for mentioning that.
- 32:06Speaker 2: So now that's in this thing here, girl.
- 32:09Speaker 2: So what is coming up with you and what's your latest projects going on?
- 32:12Speaker 3: So I love coaching.
- 32:13Speaker 3: Honey.
- 32:14Speaker 3: If you can believe it, I am coaching right from my hospital bed.
- 32:17Speaker 3: I thought I had a session after this, but it's actually tomorrow.
- 32:20Speaker 3: I just signed up a new coaching client and actually she's almost done.
- 32:23Speaker 3: So I'm sure I'll sign.
- 32:24Speaker 3: She'll sign back up.
- 32:26Speaker 3: But I love helping women go to their next level.
- 32:28Speaker 3: We don't need to reinvent the wheel.
- 32:31Speaker 3: There's so many things that women are trying to do and I run into women that are trying to do the same thing and then I connect them together.
- 32:38Speaker 3: Oh, betty and Sally and Margaret, y'all all trying to do a retreat in Cancun.
- 32:42Speaker 3: Why don't y'all do it together?
- 32:43Speaker 3: It's so silly to have three separate pots of money instead of y'all coming together and all save some money at all.
- 32:49Speaker 3: How about make some more money than you planned on making?
- 32:52Speaker 3: Because Sally could do this part, this one could do.
- 32:57Speaker 3: So I'm all my ambitions are to help more women, to collaborate with one another through the League of Girlfriends, to support women, so that nobody has to reinvent the wheel.
- 33:05Speaker 3: So if they want to write a book or if they want to, I'm an event planner too.
- 33:09Speaker 3: Over 20 years I've been planning illustrious, exquisite events, from weddings to corporate events.
- 33:14Speaker 3: So also want to show women how easy it is to plan their own events and make your own money, and also help women to know where they should go by way of go.
- 33:24Speaker 3: Attend this type of workshop, attend this type of work to build up their, to edify their businesses and help them learn more things like digital marketing, like how to use Google and things like that.
- 33:35Speaker 3: There's so many things that so much were overloaded with information, but we don't know which one to go Like.
- 33:41Speaker 3: For example, I'm looking at a master's program and I'm looking up 10 different master's programs.
- 33:45Speaker 3: Which program am I going to attend?
- 33:47Speaker 3: But if I can talk to somebody, somebody might say Angie, this is the best master program for what you want to do, for leadership, right, and that can help me onto my next level.
- 34:02Speaker 3: But that's really what I'm working on helping women to build the bridges of information so we know what's appropriate for us to know today to build our businesses, build bridges with one another.
- 34:08Speaker 3: So those are the things I'm really working hard on through my coaching programs and through the League of Girlfriends as a whole.
- 34:14Speaker 3: So those are things and, of course, the book the Devil Thought he had Me, which is a collaboration book.
- 34:18Speaker 3: So I'm inviting other people that have had anything happen to them, from an illness to maybe a divorce, maybe something, childhood trauma, maybe you lost a job, anything where the devil thought he had you but he didn't, because God came in right at his time.
- 34:34Speaker 3: We got to remember it's God's time and I have to remind myself that quite often, as I've been in the hospital since December.
- 34:40Speaker 3: This is not in my time, this is God's time.
- 34:43Speaker 3: It's God's time.
- 34:44Speaker 3: Yeah, so those are some of the things I'm working on.
- 34:47Speaker 2: No, that's great.
- 34:47Speaker 2: So when is the book coming out?
- 34:48Speaker 2: Are you still gathering?
- 35:00Speaker 3: No, you know, what I did was I started, I kicked it off and then I got a little sick here in the hospital.
- 35:02Speaker 3: I wasn't feeling my best.
- 35:03Speaker 3: So we're going to launch it again and I probably won't start it again until next year, because I'm going to try to really invest in the directory we have for lead girls, which is something brand new I haven't even told you about yet.
- 35:08Speaker 3: I'm investing in a few other things and building some portals to help women with their businesses, and then I'll probably launch on and start doing that book collaboration again in the beginning of the year.
- 35:19Speaker 3: I'll get people from the other things I'm doing to be a part of that.
- 35:22Speaker 2: That's good.
- 35:23Speaker 2: As you're talking about that, I think I want to join that book collaboration.
- 35:26Speaker 3: I love that.
- 35:28Speaker 2: See, God has put me and he put in my mind.
- 35:30Speaker 2: Okay, Wanda, I want you to do another book and I'm saying what I'm trying to do my podcast.
- 35:34Speaker 2: Let's talk about that, and also let's talk about getting my coaching back on point, because you have helped me and I know I'm just doing so many different things and it's just a lot of been going on this year, but I'm going to tell you one of the best.
- 35:45Speaker 3: I'm going to tell you, quite honestly, the things that women are telling me that they love the most about my coaching.
- 35:51Speaker 3: First of all, it's very direct, and I stopped you from doing a whole bunch of stuff and wasting a whole bunch of money doing stuff you didn't need to do.
- 35:57Speaker 3: And then women have all these different ideas.
- 35:59Speaker 3: I'm going to do this and I'll say why would you do that when you can just do this?
- 36:02Speaker 3: And I'll say something very simple that makes sense, that has saved you months of time, has saved you thousands of dollars, because I've given you a more simplex way of doing it and shown you your vision and how to make money from it, because people have all types of ideas and know none of them lead to the path of money.
- 36:21Speaker 3: It sounds good, it feels good, but I'm like, ok, how are you going to make money from that?
- 36:24Speaker 3: And then that's when the conversation stops.
- 36:27Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 36:27Speaker 3: So let me show you how to make money.
- 36:28Speaker 3: You could do this, you could do this.
- 36:29Speaker 3: And then, by the way, since you need sponsors, let me give you this one.
- 36:32Speaker 3: This girl right here is looking for somewhere, so you call Betty and she'll give you a thousand.
- 36:36Speaker 3: That's the other connection.
- 36:39Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, and that's what I need.
- 36:40Speaker 2: I need some sponsors for these podcasts, so I need to talk to you about that too.
- 36:43Speaker 2: But, listen, I really appreciate you coming on my podcast and being my first guest and sharing all the stuff here, because, angie, you are such a beak of light, what you're going through and what you're still doing, even though you may have temporarily sat down.
- 37:00Speaker 2: But I know God is going to help you to walk and help you to be as strong as you ever been before.
- 37:05Speaker 2: You're still doing it.
- 37:06Speaker 2: So thank you so much for being on the Ready Set Collaborate podcast with Wanda Pearson.
- 37:11Speaker 2: I am so looking forward to our continued connection, our friendship, being part of your charter member and doing whatever I can do.
- 37:18Speaker 2: And also, I want to mention, we're both part of the Author All-Stars with Tariq.
- 37:25Speaker 3: Did you see?
- 37:25Speaker 3: So you were asking me.
- 37:27Speaker 3: Angie, I don't see where's a place to vote for you.
- 37:29Speaker 3: You know why?
