- 0:05[SPEAKER_02]: Welcome in.
- 0:05[SPEAKER_02]: Welcome in.
- 0:06[SPEAKER_02]: It is Friday the eighth.
- 0:08[SPEAKER_02]: It's time for an episode of Broncos for breakfast.
- 0:11[SPEAKER_02]: I am Nick Kendall.
- 0:12[SPEAKER_02]: That is Eric trickle.
- 0:14[SPEAKER_02]: Eric happy Friday to you.
- 0:16[SPEAKER_02]: Obviously, this is going to be our normal time slot going forward.
- 0:20[SPEAKER_02]: Obviously, we had Friday for a bit, but Mondays are going on a little sabbatical while the season is away.
- 0:26[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm not to figure out my schedule.
- 0:28[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe I'll be taking some by long weekends.
- 0:31[SPEAKER_02]: It'll be
- 0:32[SPEAKER_02]: Saturday through Mondays, instead of Friday through Saturdays or Friday through Sundays, but what am I talking about?
- 0:38[SPEAKER_02]: I'm working 56 hours a week as it is.
- 0:40[SPEAKER_02]: How are you doing?
- 0:41[SPEAKER_02]: What's good?
- 0:41[SPEAKER_02]: What's new?
- 0:42[SPEAKER_02]: Love the gang art years.
- 0:43[SPEAKER_02]: How's life up there in Alaska?
- 0:47[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 0:47[SPEAKER_00]: I'm doing good.
- 0:48[SPEAKER_00]: Um, I mean, with Mondays going off, I mean, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm excited for it.
- 0:53[SPEAKER_00]: Got, it got a little rough and being up at four o'clock in the morning of the, you know, as soon as we get done with the show, it's, I got to get ready to go because we have appointments that day, one of the days, my wife has also, I'm excited for that.
- 1:04[SPEAKER_00]: I'm able to get, and, you know, another two hours of sleep in, and that, but.
- 1:09[SPEAKER_00]: I've been doing well, whether it's doing actually pretty nice up here, went out, was able to go out for a pretty good walk last night.
- 1:18[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, it's all things are going well on the Alaskan front.
- 1:24[SPEAKER_02]: Good to hear.
- 1:25[SPEAKER_02]: I don't want to give away your location.
- 1:27[SPEAKER_02]: You're kind of close to one of the national parks areas out there, one of the opinions.
- 1:32[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 1:33[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I I a little national park calendar and it came up the other day.
- 1:36[SPEAKER_02]: I'm a cat.
- 1:36[SPEAKER_02]: I got to get out there.
- 1:37[SPEAKER_02]: It looks so beautiful.
- 1:39[SPEAKER_02]: Also on a go to see the, what is it?
- 1:40[SPEAKER_02]: The harding ice field.
- 1:43[SPEAKER_02]: Is that what it is?
- 1:44[SPEAKER_02]: It's the one of the most popular hikes in Alaska.
- 1:46[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
- 1:46[SPEAKER_02]: I got mountains on the mine, what's new.
- 1:48[SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, it's good to hear.
- 1:49[SPEAKER_02]: It work has been so stressful.
- 1:53[SPEAKER_02]: It's been working 50, 60 hours.
- 1:54[SPEAKER_02]: I worked until 10 o'clock last night, and then walked to the dog.
- 1:57[SPEAKER_02]: And yesterday I was spiraling a little bit.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_02]: And I had to go like walk.
- 2:02[SPEAKER_02]: I'm on the other, complete other side of campus.
- 2:05[SPEAKER_02]: three quarters of a mile.
- 2:06[SPEAKER_02]: I'm like, I'm going to get this done.
- 2:07[SPEAKER_02]: It's been on my list for a while.
- 2:09[SPEAKER_02]: And that mile and a half walked save my life.
- 2:12[SPEAKER_02]: Just getting outside and moving my body and being in the sun for a little bit not looking at emails and screens.
- 2:18[SPEAKER_02]: I feel like I'm about to declare email bankruptcy.
- 2:21[SPEAKER_02]: If you've heard it ever over that concept where you archive everything, I just email everybody being like, if you sent me something important and I haven't responded.
- 2:28[SPEAKER_02]: It's gone.
- 2:28[SPEAKER_02]: So send it to me again, or it wasn't actually important.
- 2:32[SPEAKER_02]: But we're, you know, these are good problems to have health.
- 2:37[SPEAKER_02]: Everybody's healthy.
- 2:38[SPEAKER_02]: Got a job.
- 2:38[SPEAKER_02]: Got a roof over the head and summer's going.
- 2:41[SPEAKER_02]: And the Denver Broncos are a good football once again.
- 2:43[SPEAKER_02]: So really excited about that.
- 2:45[SPEAKER_02]: Happy to have you here, Eric.
- 2:46[SPEAKER_02]: I will miss you on the Mondays and good to have Dylan as well stepping in on Monday as we took care of things.
- 2:54[SPEAKER_02]: So getting to it today,
- 2:58[SPEAKER_02]: First off, obviously, draft class has come and gone, but Chad sent us an article, a roundtable, won the other day, and I've been busy to write the articles that I used to when I was in Seattle in comparison, but I did respond to that one.
- 3:16[SPEAKER_02]: Told Chad not to, you know, lose his mind, but.
- 3:21[SPEAKER_02]: I want to know your favorite pick and your least favorite pick.
- 3:24[SPEAKER_02]: I haven't seen when anybody else put.
- 3:26[SPEAKER_02]: I maybe tried to be a little bit edgy in mine.
- 3:29[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if you read it, read through it to see what everybody else said, but I want to hear what you said.
- 3:34[SPEAKER_00]: I put my,
- 3:38[SPEAKER_00]: I kind of know one of the be a little bit different.
- 3:40[SPEAKER_00]: I figured a lot of people were going to put join a coalman.
- 3:42[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't put on a. I didn't either.
- 3:46[SPEAKER_00]: I ended up putting Tyler on the atom.
- 3:49[SPEAKER_00]: I also had to do an article that was.
- 3:53[SPEAKER_00]: It was like the most underrated pick from the the Broncos draft and and that I mentioned about how all the focuses on journal common, which partially makes that the most underrated move being to other on the Adam for whatever that releases and then my least favorite pick and it wasn't had didn't have anything to do with the player, but it was cage casey.
- 4:12[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, just because of when I was looking back and seeing some of the other guys who were taking not long after him is like, all right, like, I really, I really like Cage case, I think he's a really good prospect, especially for the Broncos do I actually had him height graded higher than I did Tyler on the Adam even.
- 4:28[SPEAKER_00]: It was just some other guys that, you know, made it fit a little bit of a more of a need, you know, a couple linebackers that went through after him.
- 4:35[SPEAKER_00]: That might have made it a little bit more sense for the Broncos with where they're at with the room.
- 4:39[SPEAKER_00]: So had nothing to do with the players, the why I had KHKC as my least favorite, just had to do with, you know, some of the other guys went after it.
- 4:46[SPEAKER_02]: I had on the item as well as my favorite.
- 4:49[SPEAKER_02]: Again, maybe just to push back a little bit, but I have my ethos in team building,
- 4:58[SPEAKER_02]: you get more information in the game itself, evolves because football's the perfect strategic game, where it's on a pendulum.
- 5:05[SPEAKER_02]: All right, one way, a little bit too far, you see shifts, body types, play style schemes, et cetera, et cetera.
- 5:10[SPEAKER_02]: So I said, O'Nietham, because if you guys wasn't in this show at all, I am the greedy SOB when it comes to past Russian defense of line as you'll ever see.
- 5:18[SPEAKER_02]: If you're not 10 deep, you could add more.
- 5:21[SPEAKER_02]: And O'Nietham is somebody who I think fits the scheme really well.
- 5:28[SPEAKER_02]: If he doesn't develop into a starter, he can always be that second level of type of player that can play five technique all the way down to one on some some schemes as well.
- 5:39[SPEAKER_02]: I only really had one year of tape where it was anything that was applicable to the NFL level, because whatever the heck Iowa State does, it works for the big 12.
- 5:48[SPEAKER_02]: That's not NFL football though.
- 5:50[SPEAKER_02]: That 335 is drives me nuts as an Iowa fan, because it does a job, but it's not
- 5:58[SPEAKER_02]: applicable to the NFL a lot and even Texas A&M they are they rotate so much and they are so read and react.
- 6:04[SPEAKER_02]: I remember going back and doing a little bit more on yet him and it's not as bad as what they do at edge but I was getting like, oh, this is why I hated watching Shamar Stewart because it's so reactive versus get up field penetrate disrupt.
- 6:18[SPEAKER_02]: So
- 6:19[SPEAKER_02]: I wish it was a better athlete.
- 6:21[SPEAKER_02]: He wouldn't have been there if he would tested better athletic.
- 6:25[SPEAKER_00]: I said pretty well, his relative athletic source 8.9 or something like that.
- 6:30[SPEAKER_02]: I thought it was like 8.3, which is good, but not incredible.
- 6:34[SPEAKER_02]: Dylan maybe can check the check afterwards and I know he got knocked a bit for.
- 6:38[SPEAKER_02]: the weight, right, because he's being compared to like 330 pounders.
- 6:42[SPEAKER_02]: So that changes it a bit.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_02]: But he's a fine athlete.
- 6:46[SPEAKER_02]: I just like freaks along the defensive line when I can.
- 6:50[SPEAKER_02]: Those guys going the first round, even if they had the tape and production that don't get him had, if they are testing that freakishly.
- 6:57[SPEAKER_02]: So again, that was my number one.
- 6:59[SPEAKER_02]: My least favorite, and again, I think people maybe will
- 7:04[SPEAKER_02]: disagree, but I said just in Julie, and again, I have where they took him, that's fine.
- 7:10[SPEAKER_02]: I've said it on the show many times.
- 7:12[SPEAKER_02]: I am so out on the non-blocking, non-free athlete tight ends in the fifth round, whatever.
- 7:21[SPEAKER_02]: Like the odds of hitting there is fine, but people who expect this to be, you know, a true starting tight end in the league, he tested horribly just in
- 7:34[SPEAKER_02]: He's not very big or a good blocker.
- 7:36[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm like, what are we doing here with this type of player?
- 7:39[SPEAKER_02]: Again, fifth round is fine.
- 7:40[SPEAKER_02]: I thought all the texture fine.
- 7:41[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not going to go hard on Miles Scott, right?
- 7:44[SPEAKER_02]: So I thought I could write a little bit more of Justin Jolie and why I don't like the pick is more.
- 7:47[SPEAKER_02]: So I think that archetype is...
- 7:51[SPEAKER_02]: dying.
- 7:52[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, when you have freaking Marlon Klein going in the second round with his profile, and you have Justin Jolie going in the fifth round, what is the league trying to tell you?
- 8:03[SPEAKER_02]: Right now, and maybe Klein will be a horrible pick, but that's like, as a huge difference in value and where those guys are going.
- 8:09[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, hundreds of players picked between those two.
- 8:13[SPEAKER_02]: Again, I think Joel, you look, you know, a useful niche piece tied in three tied in four, maybe.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_02]: Sure.
- 8:21[SPEAKER_02]: But I do not think he is the freakish enough athlete where he blurs the line between Wybersyver and tied in.
- 8:28[SPEAKER_02]: And I just don't think he is going to bring it as a blocker.
- 8:32[SPEAKER_02]: I just don't know if he's got that level play.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_02]: Again, I'm going to be in harsh, fifth round pick, maybe the trade up for him, maybe I would rather have the two dice roll concerning what they gave up.
- 8:42[SPEAKER_02]: but they identified it and then liked them.
- 8:45[SPEAKER_02]: So it is what it is.
- 8:47[SPEAKER_02]: But again, I just, I really do believe in that blocking tight end, it's math.
- 8:53[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, it's physics, right?
- 8:54[SPEAKER_02]: If you have two tight ends in the line, a scrimmage attached to the line, you have more angles to deal with that they have to cover.
- 9:01[SPEAKER_02]: And with that, you're forcing them into heavier boxes, less too high, heavier personnel that are play action, explosive play.
- 9:12[SPEAKER_02]: I've seen some like really excited about him, because people are so tight and starved and they see the stats.
- 9:17[SPEAKER_02]: They see some of the highlights.
- 9:19[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think that small, pass-catching tight end is going completely the way of the Dota like Stoke Lear West Walker types, which just don't exist anymore.
- 9:28[SPEAKER_02]: Why does he work as you better be explosive to some extent whether after the catch or down the field in a loving personal.
- 9:38[SPEAKER_02]: But I just, I think it's so devalued in today's game and the NFL is saying so as well.
- 9:45[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think we have caught up, not wee, but like the fans in general have.
- 9:50[SPEAKER_02]: However, I will say, we were banging that drum last year with like the talk about the Joker being like, I think it's a little bit overrated.
- 9:57[SPEAKER_02]: How they're talking about it like, who I want my Joker to be?
- 10:00[SPEAKER_02]: It's a running back at the end of the day.
- 10:03[SPEAKER_02]: I thought of my tight end to be big sons of guns who are big athletes that can block.
- 10:08[SPEAKER_02]: But that's just me, you know how I feel.
- 10:11[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, and it's like talking about seeing it, the value, I mean, we kind of saw that last season.
- 10:15[SPEAKER_00]: They gave that big contract to Evan Ingram, only firm to end up playing about 20 snaps a game towards the end of the season, because he didn't do enough as a blocker, and
- 10:24[SPEAKER_00]: Evan Ingraham, I mean, he made a career of it and he he had to be in fine when blocking out in the slot like you couldn't you could live with it.
- 10:31[SPEAKER_00]: It wasn't, you know, wasn't great or anything.
- 10:33[SPEAKER_00]: And that's kind of what you're hoping for, Jess and Julie.
- 10:35[SPEAKER_00]: So like if you're looking for somewhat of what you've gotten out of Evan Ingraham,
- 10:41[SPEAKER_00]: out of the fifth round.
- 10:43[SPEAKER_00]: It's fine.
- 10:44[SPEAKER_00]: The trade up a dead.
- 10:45[SPEAKER_00]: I said it when we were alive on the drafts.
- 10:46[SPEAKER_00]: It was like the trade up for it was a little bit rich.
- 10:49[SPEAKER_00]: Especially when you look at what some of the other trades were that that happened in that area and that range with the same with the similar trade ups.
- 10:55[SPEAKER_00]: There was one where they made a bigger move to jump up higher and they ended up giving up that trade was less than what the Broncos gave up to go get Justin Jolie.
- 11:04[SPEAKER_00]: So clear indication that they liked him and they were really want to go get him and
- 11:11[SPEAKER_02]: He met him in the last one that they thought could do anything.
- 11:14[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, right.
- 11:15[SPEAKER_02]: Like that's here.
- 11:16[SPEAKER_02]: The drop off after that.
- 11:17[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 11:18[SPEAKER_00]: And like you're just hoping like, yeah, he shows that the fire is a blocker and you know, the willingness.
- 11:24[SPEAKER_00]: But maybe if you don't have the strength or the technique, the strength especially, it's going to limit what you can do in the inline.
- 11:31[SPEAKER_00]: And I mean, there's a, you to mention, you know, it's all math with it and like that's why those guys that can be those inline tight ends and still a threat as a receiver
- 11:41[SPEAKER_00]: because they changed the math for the defense to change the what the defense could do.
- 11:45[SPEAKER_00]: The angles like there's so much that they change with it.
- 11:48[SPEAKER_00]: So Justin Jolie, he's he's fine.
- 11:51[SPEAKER_00]: I think there's a very specific way that they obviously want to envision him taking with his development and it's going to be what the envision with Evan Ingram.
- 11:59[SPEAKER_00]: But as you're going to end up being more than a 20 snap per game guy, if he develops,
- 12:04[SPEAKER_00]: He's not the athlete that Evan Ingraham was there for so long.
- 12:07[SPEAKER_00]: No, not close.
- 12:08[SPEAKER_00]: It's probably unlikely that he's going to be talking about him more than 20, 25 times a game.
- 12:14[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 12:15[SPEAKER_02]: And Fanon was interesting because he actually did develop into a decent like fullback blocker.
- 12:20[SPEAKER_02]: Like he's like Hback fullback.
- 12:21[SPEAKER_02]: Like he can be weaponized that way.
- 12:24[SPEAKER_02]: It really showed out like after the combine when they used to know like.
- 12:26[SPEAKER_02]: Hold up, maybe not in line, but I'm seeing it there.
- 12:30[SPEAKER_02]: And I just did not see that from Julie.
- 12:32[SPEAKER_02]: He did not look good at the senior bull.
- 12:34[SPEAKER_02]: And Fanon was a better athlete.
- 12:36[SPEAKER_02]: That was honestly the biggest thing with, we already like knew, Julie was not a great blocker.
- 12:42[SPEAKER_02]: And like that was confirmed throughout the process.
- 12:45[SPEAKER_02]: But then we had the one-on-one's in the senior bull where he struggled to separate and the bad testing as well.
- 12:52[SPEAKER_02]: So again, fifth round tight end.
- 12:55[SPEAKER_02]: Blah, I'm not gonna get too upset about we've spent enough time making it seem like a work pissed about the pick.
- 13:00[SPEAKER_02]: That's fine.
- 13:02[SPEAKER_02]: It's, it's, it's, it's a sea minus for me with the trade in hand as well and there's pathway there for him.
- 13:08[SPEAKER_02]: So we'll see you guys are different in the league than in college.
- 13:11[SPEAKER_02]: So, time will tell.
- 13:13[SPEAKER_02]: But I had him get him as my favorite and I had Julia as my least favorite just because I'm so thoroughly bought in that
- 13:22[SPEAKER_02]: If your Titan doesn't block, he better essentially be a wide receiver.
- 13:25[SPEAKER_02]: And there's only like five of those guys in the league at any given point.
- 13:29[SPEAKER_02]: Right now, Pitz, McBride, Bowers, Endlessed.
- 13:34[SPEAKER_02]: After that, I think there's nobody who's a good enough pascatcher that they're lack of blocking makes up for it.
- 13:41[SPEAKER_02]: You got Gaseki, I'd rather have a wide receiver out there.
- 13:45[SPEAKER_02]: So those kind of guys.
- 13:46[SPEAKER_02]: So we'll see, Evan Ingraham.
- 13:48[SPEAKER_02]: rather have a wide receiver out there.
- 13:51[SPEAKER_02]: It is hard as we are on Troutman.
- 13:52[SPEAKER_02]: The offense is I would imagine the EPA per play.
- 13:55[SPEAKER_02]: It's much better when it's 11 personnel at Troutman.
- 13:57[SPEAKER_02]: than 11 person out with Ingram or 12 person out with Ingram.
- 14:02[SPEAKER_02]: Like significantly.
- 14:03[SPEAKER_00]: If I remember correctly, the highest EP for the Broncos was trapped in on the field.
- 14:08[SPEAKER_00]: Like that was when they were most efficient.
- 14:10[SPEAKER_00]: That was when they were doing their best.
- 14:12[SPEAKER_00]: Because even though he wasn't blocking well enough, he was enough of a threat that was received for Anna as a blocker that it forced those changes.
- 14:23[SPEAKER_00]: And Ingram, whenever Ingram was on the field,
- 14:27[SPEAKER_00]: I think there was only one other personnel grouping that was worse than or in that in the bottom of it for the Broncos specifically with all those that had Evan Ingraham on there, what there was a love personnel with him that had and it was they were just far less efficient far less effective when Evan Ingraham was on the field just because defenses were able to adapt how they were able to play because of him because he wasn't that dual threat.
- 14:53[SPEAKER_00]: and adding to it at one point he used to be that athlete that could really change things for it, but that was also when, you know, he really wanted those, he kind of still had those slower slots and like the West Walker types, and so when you put out an athlete like an ingram out there, it really had a change way of defense and did it, and they've come around and it's adapt, and I have adapted to it, but he's not that athlete he was.
- 15:17[SPEAKER_00]: and it definitely showed last year which makes it even more difficult for them as teams are going away from it and it showed this year.
- 15:27[SPEAKER_00]: Like the draft reflected that what they were giving out in free agency to those blocking tight ends that were making $34 million on average for your bases and now we're talking 8.910 million on average for your bases.
- 15:38[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah NFL teams made it very clear that they're not it's not gone but those types of tight ends are rare they're uncommon
- 15:46[SPEAKER_00]: And if you unless you look into one, you don't actively hunt for one.
- 15:51[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, we'll kick Merrick going round three.
- 15:54[SPEAKER_02]: This is the we had him going on the seventh and a lot of the simulators are six.
- 15:58[SPEAKER_00]: And the four are around two.
- 16:00[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 16:00[SPEAKER_02]: Yep.
- 16:01[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, what does the league say in?
- 16:03[SPEAKER_02]: They could be wrong, but it's so analytically driven now.
- 16:07[SPEAKER_02]: And I think it just comes back to you.
- 16:09[SPEAKER_02]: How do we create explosive plays?
- 16:11[SPEAKER_02]: at the end of the day.
- 16:12[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know how many times to say it, but that internovers, Brian Bollick, 20 years ago, came up with a toxicity index by God.
- 16:20[SPEAKER_02]: That thing is ended up being very true.
- 16:23[SPEAKER_02]: I'm too, what matters in the league.
- 16:26[SPEAKER_02]: And yeah, Evan Ingraham, I remember you were go being excited thinking like, oh, maybe you can be a good enough athlete.
- 16:30[SPEAKER_02]: How much Sean Payton was hyping them up to?
- 16:32[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I was all in on, I'm still on all than on the Sean Payton Collade.
- 16:35[SPEAKER_02]: But with how much he was hyping up like maybe,
- 16:37[SPEAKER_02]: You know, he'll end up being the prize of the Broncos off season.
- 16:43[SPEAKER_02]: But unfortunately, that didn't end up being the case, but all right.
- 16:47[SPEAKER_02]: Well, we've talked enough and we haven't given any love to the chat yet.
- 16:52[SPEAKER_02]: So let's say hello.
- 16:53[SPEAKER_02]: to everybody in there got to say or that the read there at the end tosses throws me off a little bit because we have the HMA and I see it up here in the corner of our screen, but I'm so used to mhh on all of those things.
- 17:04[SPEAKER_02]: So it's got to really slow down on that one because I will fumble it bad not fumble in jettie splash in the house rocking it.
- 17:13[SPEAKER_02]: I hope you hope you're doing well, jettie always appreciate the uh...
- 17:17[SPEAKER_02]: I think the sand hill crane in your picture, I'm not sure exactly, but the big white beautiful bird.
- 17:22[SPEAKER_02]: Good to see you.
- 17:23[SPEAKER_02]: Denver Luke in the house as well, says, good morning y'all with the coffee.
- 17:26[SPEAKER_02]: I will drink to that buddy.
- 17:30[SPEAKER_02]: I hear my little guy up as well, since I keys.
- 17:33[SPEAKER_02]: Check in some coffee over there too, hopefully the the space will get up here, man, get him going.
- 17:38[SPEAKER_02]: We don't have school today.
- 17:40[SPEAKER_02]: So.
- 17:41[SPEAKER_02]: Wish us luck.
- 17:42[SPEAKER_02]: We had a snow day Wednesday and no school today.
- 17:44[SPEAKER_02]: So really, really, uh, coherent with trying to get stuff done with busy, busy work schedule.
- 17:49[SPEAKER_02]: Sentinel Supreme says morning, Jens early prediction and who will play week one and how many prime time games.
- 17:54[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, man, this is a great question.
- 17:56[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to pull up the schedule here.
- 17:57[SPEAKER_02]: Eric, are the opponents?
- 17:59[SPEAKER_02]: Not the schedule.
- 18:00[SPEAKER_02]: Don't want to get you guys excited at home.
- 18:01[SPEAKER_02]: Others will be talking about the schedule.
- 18:03[SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, I've early on, I'm saying the Denver App Patriots week one, I rematched the AFC Championship game, Bonyx being there this time, it might even be a prime time game because even your friend's wife who only watches reality TV might be interested in the Patriots right now.
- 18:26[SPEAKER_02]: I'll leave it at that.
- 18:27[SPEAKER_02]: But man, it's the gift that keeps on given.
- 18:30[SPEAKER_02]: I guess to the tabloid football fans with a variable in her scene, God, you see the videos yesterday of her pregnant two months before and then the private boat, but they ran to yep.
- 18:40[SPEAKER_02]: And then there was something like a family feud to not a family jeopardy.
- 18:45[SPEAKER_02]: And it was like things you do with your lights off.
- 18:47[SPEAKER_02]: And we're seeing you said have intercourse with your husband or wife with variable also on the screen.
- 18:52[SPEAKER_02]: It's just, yeah, it's unbelievable.
- 18:57[SPEAKER_02]: As I make fun of it, I'm also like repeat and so I've definitely seen it and interested enough to retain it.
- 19:02[SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, I'm thinking Denver at New England week one maybe even a Sunday night game.
- 19:13[SPEAKER_00]: But only a thing that I could see keeping that from happening is if, and the NFL, they love to do this, they love to do that.
- 19:20[SPEAKER_00]: So that's a rule and rematch to open this season and the Patriots do have to travel on the road to take on Seattle as part of theirs.
- 19:27[SPEAKER_00]: That's the only thing I could see that we keeping it from being the Broncos and the Patriots.
- 19:32[SPEAKER_00]: Um, I'm trying to remember.
- 19:35[SPEAKER_02]: I think Seattle Rams would be more interesting.
- 19:37[SPEAKER_02]: But whatever.
- 19:39[SPEAKER_00]: I agree but they and I felt they have loved that simple rematch when they can to start the season and they already play.
- 19:45[SPEAKER_02]: So then I would say the bills if that was the case.
- 19:47[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I was going to say the bills or even the jag wires.
- 19:50[SPEAKER_00]: I think would be be up there after the what happened last year with that.
- 19:55[SPEAKER_00]: Um, having, you know, the jacks will go back in the Denver scene if they can repeat it.
- 20:00[SPEAKER_00]: So I'd expect you to be one of those three, one of those three.
- 20:03[SPEAKER_00]: I wouldn't expect a division game not week one, but probably week two.
- 20:09[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I'm trying to look at these other ones.
- 20:12[SPEAKER_02]: Would I be, what would be the most strategically advantageous game for Denver week one?
- 20:22[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I think the Patriots.
- 20:24[SPEAKER_02]: Patriots give everything that's going on.
- 20:25[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, with everything that's going on.
- 20:27[SPEAKER_02]: What about Kansas City?
- 20:29[SPEAKER_02]: New offensive coordinator, my home's missing time, bunch of new offensive pieces there.
- 20:35[SPEAKER_02]: I'd be curious about maybe a week.
- 20:40[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, on the NFL, I'll do that, but getting, give me Kansas City as early as possible, I think.
- 20:47[SPEAKER_00]: On the road in Kansas City, that game is really as possible.
- 20:50[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 20:52[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I wouldn't mind that either.
- 20:54[SPEAKER_00]: I just don't think the NFL would do it.
- 20:56[SPEAKER_00]: I, if it's basically, if it's not the bills, the jag wires or the Patriots, I would be a little bit surprised for that season opener for Denver.
- 21:04[SPEAKER_00]: And I would be surprised at all if it's one of the prime time games.
- 21:08[SPEAKER_02]: I'm pulling for the, I'm pulling for on the road against the Patriots.
- 21:15[SPEAKER_02]: Buffalo at home would be good too.
- 21:17[SPEAKER_02]: Man, I wonder how much tickets are gonna go for.
- 21:19[SPEAKER_01]: We'll see.
- 21:21[SPEAKER_02]: And prime time games.
- 21:23[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, man.
- 21:24[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to say at least four for Denver.
- 21:27[SPEAKER_02]: I'm looking at the I mean, there's a lot of, I mean, Denver's good and they have, they put the NFC West this year, right?
- 21:33[SPEAKER_02]: So like,
- 21:34[SPEAKER_02]: any of the NFC West besides the cardinals would be interesting primetime games, Patriots, bills, jags, and then of course you got chargers and chiefs.
- 21:43[SPEAKER_02]: So, Steelers are not really interesting this season, but that's like half your games.
- 21:49[SPEAKER_02]: So, I would set the over under on primetime games at four and a half.
- 21:54[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, Denver's got a big fan base.
- 21:56[SPEAKER_02]: People tune in.
- 21:57[SPEAKER_02]: They have typically one of the better TV market teams when they're good.
- 22:05[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they had four last year in the record is seven, if I remember correctly, because that's what the chief said last year, if I remember I'd they died it, so I think that I think they'll end up with five, yeah, with looking at some of the What some of the teams that had five last year and how they kind of fell off, because like you have the Washington Commanders, they had five because the young quarterback and Daniels on the excitement there.
- 22:29[SPEAKER_00]: Um, and with what Denver did last year, and then with, you know, oh, next work, and back from the entry, I think I would, if you set the over under at four to four and a half, I would take the over just because I think it's going to be five.
- 22:42[SPEAKER_02]: Five is a good number.
- 22:44[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, man, I'm, uh, excited for the season already.
- 22:49[SPEAKER_02]: You got to get through summer though.
- 22:50[SPEAKER_02]: I know it's we've been it's been a grind.
- 22:52[SPEAKER_02]: So let it breathe a little bit.
- 22:53[SPEAKER_02]: Mike Thompson comes in here says, Hey, friends.
- 22:55[SPEAKER_02]: Hey, do you
- 22:57[SPEAKER_02]: He also says, I know everyone is different, but Fanon isn't, you already got that one.
- 23:01[SPEAKER_02]: Good to see you.
- 23:01[SPEAKER_02]: Max, good morning, Jen's, good to see you.
- 23:03[SPEAKER_02]: Roy Osborne, our guy, good morning, Nick and Eric.
- 23:06[SPEAKER_02]: Jenny already told us this before.
- 23:07[SPEAKER_02]: So it's no e-grid, that's right.
- 23:10[SPEAKER_02]: And Max said if we play New England week one, they will get roasted by this offense.
- 23:14[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you for the transition, Max.
- 23:16[SPEAKER_02]: So I was just kind of, you know, we're like, we've kind of dug into the draft class a lot.
- 23:22[SPEAKER_02]: Already.
- 23:23[SPEAKER_02]: So now I'm thinking a little bit more big picture.
- 23:27[SPEAKER_02]: The defense, you know, can I maintain their top five level from last season, we kind of saw them have a fall off a little bit towards the mid part end of the season last season and they didn't add any really big difference makers on here, but it's really the offense that is the most interesting.
- 23:46[SPEAKER_02]: There's so many aspects of the offense, so many things have changed.
- 23:49[SPEAKER_02]: So last year, Denver's offense ends up being what?
- 23:52[SPEAKER_02]: 12th and EPA per play, something like that.
- 23:55[SPEAKER_02]: Obviously, they were not the best to start the season.
- 24:00[SPEAKER_02]: Well, they ended up being pretty good.
- 24:02[SPEAKER_02]: You know, a top third of the, oh, man, they changed the EPA per play, RBS DM website.
- 24:10[SPEAKER_02]: Interesting.
- 24:10[SPEAKER_02]: That's a different overlay now.
- 24:12[SPEAKER_02]: So shout out to them, always fun, but Denver.
- 24:15[SPEAKER_02]: ends up finishing the season as the 15th offense and EPA per play so not not incredible by any means but good enough and they were better down the second half of the season.
- 24:30[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to turn up this garbage time filter too because I think that's a little bit more interesting.
- 24:36[SPEAKER_02]: Ben removes up to 12th when you move the a win percentage filter up to 10%.
- 24:40[SPEAKER_02]: So that's probably that's they feel more like the
- 24:45[SPEAKER_02]: It's not good enough for this team and where they want to go and how they've invested in the offense, Sean Payton, offensive line, rookie contract quarterback who's playing well and solidify the running back room a little bit on paper.
- 24:59[SPEAKER_02]: What are your thoughts, sir?
- 24:59[SPEAKER_02]: I don't even know where you want to start.
- 25:02[SPEAKER_02]: There's so many layers to this onion as far as the Broncos 2026 offense.
- 25:07[SPEAKER_02]: What needs to happen for them to end up a top?
- 25:11[SPEAKER_02]: I said a lead.
- 25:12[SPEAKER_02]: I'll take top five, because I don't know if that's a lead, it depends, like it's a lead that season, it's not a lead 10 years on our global size, but how do we get to the top five, EPA, per play, efficiency offense?
- 25:24[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I just wrote an article yesterday that was basically covering this topic.
- 25:28[SPEAKER_00]: It was like the six things that the Broncos need from their offense to be a top unit.
- 25:33[SPEAKER_00]: Has it been published yet?
- 25:35[SPEAKER_00]: Not yet.
- 25:36[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 25:37[SPEAKER_00]: I'm right.
- 25:39[SPEAKER_00]: And I think, I mean, we talked a lot about this last year, very similar conversation.
- 25:44[SPEAKER_00]: And I think the obvious one is this offense will basically go as far as bone
- 25:50[SPEAKER_00]: So it's, it's all starts and ends with bone eggs with him working back from the ankle and Drake and he get back in time.
- 25:58[SPEAKER_00]: I know the timeline is now training camp, but when he's working still working back, he'll probably be gradual to it.
- 26:04[SPEAKER_00]: Kind of often start off hot and both, you know, his work year and my shirt, the start of this season wasn't great for bone eggs.
- 26:11[SPEAKER_00]: So can he start off hot for a change?
- 26:13[SPEAKER_00]: Can he keep it going throughout the whole season like in, so it all starts and ends
- 26:19[SPEAKER_00]: And adding to that is also, you know, Davis Web.
- 26:25[SPEAKER_00]: I think, you know, those, if you're talking about the offense on what it needs, those are the top two.
- 26:29[SPEAKER_00]: Davis Web is the play color.
- 26:30[SPEAKER_00]: Kenny handle it.
- 26:31[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, this is his first year as an offense coordinator, his and first year as a play color.
- 26:35[SPEAKER_00]: Kenny handle that responsibility and what, what is the next step that Bonix can take in leading your offense?
- 26:44[SPEAKER_02]: I love it.
- 26:45[SPEAKER_02]: And I'll get a little bit more specific to it as well.
- 26:49[SPEAKER_02]: And it's something we've talked about on here, but Bonax is super power, which is the ability to avoid sex and the negative plan general.
- 26:58[SPEAKER_02]: Like he wasn't thrown his first what six eight games.
- 27:01[SPEAKER_02]: There's a lot of late footballs.
- 27:05[SPEAKER_02]: You know, he doesn't have Josh Allen's arm.
- 27:07[SPEAKER_02]: It's a good arm.
- 27:08[SPEAKER_02]: But it's not, you know, est here.
- 27:11[SPEAKER_02]: So he has to be a bit more on time.
- 27:14[SPEAKER_02]: And we saw that over time.
- 27:16[SPEAKER_02]: The last, you know, 18 games, he's played.
- 27:19[SPEAKER_02]: It's been better.
- 27:20[SPEAKER_02]: So, but a superpower really is the ability to avoid sex.
- 27:25[SPEAKER_02]: And that is great.
- 27:29[SPEAKER_02]: However, sometimes I do wonder.
- 27:33[SPEAKER_02]: It's so hard, right?
- 27:34[SPEAKER_02]: It's because you got to get a toe that line, but sometimes I feel like he gets rid of the football and avoids maneuvering the pocket in a way that can buy him half a second, one second to let a window come open or.
- 27:50[SPEAKER_02]: He drops his eyes and is already looking for the check down or to escape when if he could just, you know, find that space within the pocket in his drop back and the rhythm of the offense.
- 28:01[SPEAKER_02]: You have a 20-yard play there.
- 28:03[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, this was the big frustration last season with the beginning of the year with Broncos, watching Bowenx play, is that when you watch the play?
- 28:12[SPEAKER_02]: You'd see him get to that check down and then,
- 28:14[SPEAKER_02]: not even half a second later, which for my understanding of the offense, the progression that we don't have the playbook in front of us, but like, that's the read.
- 28:21[SPEAKER_02]: Everything's set up for that read.
- 28:23[SPEAKER_02]: And he gets to the check down to early in the read's open immediately after.
- 28:27[SPEAKER_02]: So again, it's a double edged sword because you don't want him taking the hits.
- 28:32[SPEAKER_02]: You don't want the negative plays.
- 28:34[SPEAKER_02]: It's a good thing that he's voting the sacs.
- 28:36[SPEAKER_02]: I just wish he would develop a little bit more of that.
- 28:40[SPEAKER_02]: innate ability to maneuver the pocket while going through his progressions and understanding that spacing, how it's in tandem with his footwork and the timing of the offensive play.
- 28:53[SPEAKER_02]: And that's, you know, PhD level football, Peyton was graded at Oslo's,
- 29:01[SPEAKER_02]: I hate to say it.
- 29:01[SPEAKER_02]: I think Tom Brady maybe was the best ever at that that I've seen.
- 29:04[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, he just must have had two eyeballs in his helmet as probably probably cheated with probably cameras or something, some sort of technology.
- 29:11[SPEAKER_02]: But I just want him to be able to buy a little bit more time within structure and that ability to buy a time out of structure is amazing.
- 29:19[SPEAKER_02]: It's a good wild card to have.
- 29:20[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I've really underrated him as an athlete coming out.
- 29:23[SPEAKER_02]: But long term, with how teams are playing and just the freaks teams have on the front, seven in hunting.
- 29:30[SPEAKER_02]: How can you do it within the scheme of, or the bubble of the pocket itself, right?
- 29:38[SPEAKER_02]: Especially because Denver has such a good past protecting unit.
- 29:41[SPEAKER_02]: I think they're a little bit inflated because of bone accessibility to avoid sex.
- 29:47[SPEAKER_02]: But they're top eight, top, I think top eight.
- 29:51[SPEAKER_02]: There were says are run blocking, you know, that past blocking, I think they're top five, top eight and past blocking and top 10 and top 12 and run blocking.
- 29:59[SPEAKER_02]: The years together helps a lot as well, because they have a lot of relative snaps together.
- 30:05[SPEAKER_02]: But again, you said it's bone X. I just really wanted to get into that one aspect of his play, which is, I mean, it separates the Hall of Famers from good quarterbacks, but that's something that,
- 30:20[SPEAKER_02]: I'll be watching for this year.
- 30:21[SPEAKER_02]: It's another level that he has left for him to take a, a step towards being a star.
- 30:27[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, quite frankly.
- 30:29[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and it's combination of things with what you're talking about, you know, it's the pocket awareness, the kind of see it and make the the slight little movements in the pocket, and it's also that play clock timing, but like sometimes when you kind of sense that pressure it speeds up that clock and you got to keep it at that normal pacing maneuver the pocket, so it's a combination of both those and also I think.
- 30:52[SPEAKER_00]: And where I would go in terms of more specific play with Bow Nights where he needs to step up, it's working the middle of the field that still was a little bit of an issue.
- 31:02[SPEAKER_00]: He did show a little bit better towards the end of the season, which is plenty of reason to, you know, have high hopes for like higher hopes, I guess, I should take this year for him working the middle of the field, especially with Jalen model being added to it.
- 31:14[SPEAKER_00]: So you saw the improvements there towards the end of the season, so hopefully you can take that next step, but that's kind of it kind of goes with what yours with what you're saying, especially when he drops his eyes and hits that check down is a lot of those place it was over the middle of the field, it was that dig route to Portland Sutton or a deep in or whatever from
- 31:35[SPEAKER_00]: Troy Franklin and Armard Mems, whatever the case is, he would go away from that over-the-middle target and hit the check down.
- 31:44[SPEAKER_00]: And so maybe, you know, not us, I don't want to say fear of attacking the middle, but just his hesitancy to attack the middle of the field might have also had something to do with it.
- 31:54[SPEAKER_00]: So it all works in tandem, and that is definitely one of those areas where you can see a lot of improvement for, because there were times when he felt that
- 32:04[SPEAKER_00]: Rushed isn't the best way to put it, but it's the only way I can think of putting it right now that that little bit of pressure would get to him when he's in the pocket.
- 32:11[SPEAKER_00]: So you just kind of rushed the process a little bit and dump it off to the check down whether it be the tight end and that and depending on the player the running back one of the two.
- 32:23[SPEAKER_00]: And instead of, as you said, just making that slight sidestep in the pocket or movement or whatever, um, and then hitting the, you know, whoever the primary read what a band, whether it's over the middle or not, and adding to it is when it comes to a specific pocket presence, it'd be nice if he would.
- 32:43[SPEAKER_00]: kind of take what is there.
- 32:45[SPEAKER_00]: We've seen, I don't want to, I can't think of another way to put this, but there are not a lot of instances, but sometimes we see that Russell Wilson aspect of him, where he tries to take the more complicated way out of the pocket when it kind of gets mighty up instead of the simpler way.
- 33:03[SPEAKER_00]: And he's, according to Bonix, he's made it work like Russell Wilson did for years.
- 33:08[SPEAKER_00]: Fortunately, he doesn't do it as often, but there are still, but when those times happen, it's sometimes, you just gotta take the easier way out of the pocket, make yourself a little bit easier and maybe it's going away from your primary read because maybe the opening is there between, you know, in that big gap between minors and McClunchies.
- 33:26[SPEAKER_00]: So you just guys think out there and he'll do the, you know, try to go out between bulls and powers or whatever.
- 33:32[SPEAKER_00]: and you know, it takes off whoever that the receiver is on his left, but now you've got to change his way of looking.
- 33:39[SPEAKER_00]: So that's that's another thing that I think you can work with that kind of go inside with what you were saying and then with what I was saying about working in the middle of the field as well.
- 33:48[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that's a that's a great point middle of the field stuff and to that point also he's been one of the highest number of added balls at the limit skirmish.
- 33:59[SPEAKER_02]: So it's it's too far and it kind of maybe goes a little bit hand in hand with
- 34:05[SPEAKER_02]: You know, just protecting the football, too.
- 34:07[SPEAKER_02]: It's a little bit riskier to throw over the middle of the field, but that's kind of where you have to try to isolate and find linebackers.
- 34:13[SPEAKER_02]: And hopefully, the game demo doesn't really have tight ends that have helped there.
- 34:18[SPEAKER_02]: But now with water, it's not just the vertical decompression that that speed can bring, but it's the horizontal decompression.
- 34:26[SPEAKER_02]: So that is big.
- 34:29[SPEAKER_02]: Obviously, that is big.
- 34:34[SPEAKER_02]: two factors at the end of the day that are the biggest, how healthy can they stay?
- 34:38[SPEAKER_02]: What is the quarterback look like?
- 34:39[SPEAKER_02]: Because they have the infrastructure on paper and now is it, you know, the Broncos, much better offensive line, but they don't have the weaponry of like the 2013 Broncos with, you know, DTE.
- 34:49[SPEAKER_02]: They have Walker than a camera if they have Walker but Julius Thomas, I mean, I'm no Sean Reno, this, I don't know if it's probably as talented or maybe even slightly more talented than Reno, but health is the problem there, but the next big one, Eric.
- 35:03[SPEAKER_02]: And everybody at home, I'm sure already said this one.
- 35:06[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to tease that though, because we have to get to our super chat, odds that the drafted players won't fizzle out.
- 35:13[SPEAKER_02]: Jenny, I think there's two things here that are, I have to add caveats, because I'm an academic at the end of the day, and I have to always give myself a way out.
- 35:22[SPEAKER_02]: But what is the definition of fizzle out?
- 35:25[SPEAKER_02]: And also, when you're only making one pick in the top 100, and you are in six of your seven picks
- 35:33[SPEAKER_02]: lesser talented drafts than the last 10 years.
- 35:36[SPEAKER_02]: The definition for me, if it's little doubt, is like not even making a roster year two.
- 35:42[SPEAKER_02]: Like that's probably if there's a lot, maybe not for the 7th rounders, and that's three of your 7 right there.
- 35:47[SPEAKER_02]: So it really comes down to those first four.
- 35:50[SPEAKER_02]: Guys, can a play, can one of them end up being a starter?
- 35:55[SPEAKER_02]: and can they all play throughout the entirety of their rookie contract?
- 36:00[SPEAKER_02]: We'll see, but this is not a class that matches up to the normal input you have of talent because of where they were picking.
- 36:10[SPEAKER_02]: So the odds, I don't know, like if none of the seventh rounders made it,
- 36:17[SPEAKER_02]: There were made it year two, Lauderdale.
- 36:19[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, that's, that's not shocking.
- 36:21[SPEAKER_02]: Go through 7th rounders throughout the last four drafts.
- 36:24[SPEAKER_02]: How many of those names do you even recognize or have done anything in the league?
- 36:28[SPEAKER_02]: Not many.
- 36:29[SPEAKER_02]: So, really it comes down to those first three.
- 36:31[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe, Julie, depending on what you think of, and it's probably, me to peg and depends on fizzled, but making the roster throughout their entire contracts.
- 36:42[SPEAKER_02]: If three of them do that, I think that's, that's good.
- 36:46[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and one thing is also it, you kind of literally, it really varies based off where they're drafted, right?
- 36:53[SPEAKER_00]: So like it's the same thing with the with hit or all that, hit is different for first round compared to second to third and so on and so forth.
- 37:00[SPEAKER_00]: Same as fizzling out and he came in and it's a dropped off the team as his turn
- 37:14[SPEAKER_00]: So that's kind of what you're looking at.
- 37:17[SPEAKER_00]: And obviously, you want them to be the earlier picks that are those hits.
- 37:21[SPEAKER_00]: And if you can hit on more, then that's great.
- 37:23[SPEAKER_00]: It's doable.
- 37:24[SPEAKER_00]: A lot of teams have done it over the years.
- 37:26[SPEAKER_00]: It's just the average is about three out of seven.
- 37:29[SPEAKER_00]: So can the Broncos get that out of this class?
- 37:33[SPEAKER_00]: I think so, but of course, it's development.
- 37:36[SPEAKER_00]: And you know, relative to what does hit mean for them.
- 37:43[SPEAKER_00]: Tyler on the item being a at the very least a rotational player a key rotational player for you as a third round pick.
- 37:50[SPEAKER_00]: That's a good value for there.
- 37:51[SPEAKER_00]: Journal of Common can continue to be a at least part of the running back room.
- 37:55[SPEAKER_00]: That's a hit, Cage Casey.
- 37:56[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, he's been looked at as a starter at left card after this season.
- 37:59[SPEAKER_00]: If he can give you two, three seasons as a starter at left card, that's a hit there.
- 38:04[SPEAKER_00]: So I think those would be the more likely ones.
- 38:07[SPEAKER_00]: And then obviously just three, seventh round picks.
- 38:10[SPEAKER_00]: They're just their long shots.
- 38:12[SPEAKER_00]: Although I will say Red Murdoch in particular is one that is a little like,
- 38:19[SPEAKER_00]: could be one of those stuff on picks at hits because why he went there in the seventh round the ankle injury that sideline throughout the process that you're not going to get any real answers with until you know I think early next month is the timeline for the answers about that recovery with it so he's a possibility so odds the draft of players won't
- 38:46[SPEAKER_00]: I would say I think that Denver can get three out of the seven, at least out of this class to be a positive return of the investment in them.
- 38:53[SPEAKER_02]: And again, everyone always thinks starters, but it's a 53 at the end of the day.
- 38:57[SPEAKER_02]: You're going to have injuries and it's my theme of this season ever since they made the water trade, but it's draft and develop and you have to have the four-year perspective.
- 39:08[SPEAKER_02]: It depends on the individual players and mental make-up and also the coaching staff, the
- 39:15[SPEAKER_02]: good teams, it's not just they win the draft, it's they take these players and they mold them into useful plus return on investments over time.
- 39:26[SPEAKER_02]: So we'll see Eric DeCosta talking about it, all teams are kind of starting to draft the same because it's so analytically driven.
- 39:34[SPEAKER_02]: Now like we have a lot of data AI as being used for a lot of the analysis.
- 39:39[SPEAKER_02]: as well, just like where exactly these thresholds and metrics fit and they're even working with.
- 39:46[SPEAKER_02]: GPS data on the players, the spatial data.
- 39:49[SPEAKER_02]: So they're crunching numbers that we can only theorize about.
- 39:54[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm very good to tell us.
- 39:56[SPEAKER_02]: I wish I could see some of these models, not to be a total nerd.
- 39:59[SPEAKER_02]: Back to the theme, because they're still plenty.
- 40:00[SPEAKER_02]: We can talk about here.
- 40:01[SPEAKER_02]: What does it take for Denver Day and up being a top five, top three offense?
- 40:04[SPEAKER_02]: This season ended up being 12th, any EPA per play.
- 40:08[SPEAKER_02]: When you account for taking out when percentages, if it's less than 10% or over 90% removing those plays,
- 40:16[SPEAKER_02]: One of the things I'm, again, Sean Payton Pilled, I'll say it over here, over and over again.
- 40:20[SPEAKER_02]: Sean Payton says drink to Kool-Aid on, I wouldn't do that for many people.
- 40:23[SPEAKER_02]: After what he's done in Denver the last three seasons, is that you want me to drink the purple Kool-Aid or the red Kool-Aid, of course, duh.
- 40:29[SPEAKER_02]: Sean Payton sounds good.
- 40:31[SPEAKER_02]: But one of his big three themes of frustration from last season was the drop passes and so much EPA and value was lost on that.
- 40:45[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe somewhat overly weighted negatively for Denver because some of those drops were lower probability hits down the field, try Franklin, we're looking at you.
- 40:56[SPEAKER_02]: But if you can just haul in, I don't know, three more of those, you're talking a huge shift in explosive plays and yardage gain because there are some heavy hitters.
- 41:06[SPEAKER_02]: So while Denver was,
- 41:09[SPEAKER_02]: A second last season in drops.
- 41:11[SPEAKER_02]: Gosh, how did Trevor Lorenz do it last season?
- 41:13[SPEAKER_02]: 45 drops and 8.3% of his past has dropped.
- 41:17[SPEAKER_02]: That's crazy.
- 41:17[SPEAKER_02]: Bonix, seven point four.
- 41:20[SPEAKER_02]: So way higher than everybody else, but if you look to like a graph.
- 41:25[SPEAKER_02]: Trevor Lawrence, Bonix, everybody else.
- 41:29[SPEAKER_02]: So, but the drop passes.
- 41:31[SPEAKER_02]: We got a coach fired because of that.
- 41:33[SPEAKER_02]: It's something that's being really emphasized on this team.
- 41:37[SPEAKER_02]: And if they can cut that to League average, I mean, the 43 down to, let's call it.
- 41:44[SPEAKER_02]: 20.
- 41:45[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, that's as huge next season.
- 41:47[SPEAKER_02]: That's like, let's even call it 25.
- 41:49[SPEAKER_02]: That's that makes a big difference on the explosive plays and just overall efficiency of the offense.
- 41:54[SPEAKER_02]: So drop passes.
- 41:56[SPEAKER_02]: Again, Sean Payton says something and it's not.
- 42:02[SPEAKER_02]: God, it's just totally confirmation by us for me, isn't it?
- 42:04[SPEAKER_02]: But, you know, he's like, oh, we love our wider severs.
- 42:06[SPEAKER_02]: Every, all the moves behind the scenes say that maybe you don't love them to the extent of not bringing in talent.
- 42:10[SPEAKER_02]: And they bring in water, so justified.
- 42:12[SPEAKER_02]: But talking about the drop passes analytics, match it, just get average there.
- 42:17[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to be great, just don't be horrific, and we'll see what it looks like.
- 42:23[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you're really going to make me go through my whole article here, huh, because drop passes was another one.
- 42:29[SPEAKER_00]: And I also added double catches because with in I'll get to that here, but drop drop passes it's.
- 42:38[SPEAKER_00]: something that they talked about it, as you said, and their moves have been very clear that they've wanted to attack that.
- 42:46[SPEAKER_00]: Drop passes from the running back, so they drafted a running back, who's dropped one pass in four years on a hundred and nine targets.
- 42:51[SPEAKER_00]: Jalen Waterle dropped four point one or four point three percent of the passes last year, only had three of them on the season.
- 42:58[SPEAKER_00]: is careers a little bit higher up there, but he's been putting work working on it.
- 43:02[SPEAKER_00]: They're tight ends.
- 43:03[SPEAKER_00]: They had the two.
- 43:04[SPEAKER_00]: They were among the two of the bottom five in lowest drop pass percentage among tight ends in last year in college football.
- 43:13[SPEAKER_00]: So really targeted those drops.
- 43:16[SPEAKER_00]: and everything else you said is spot on and I want to add double catches here to it because people even though ends up being a catch people don't realize how much a double catch actually hurt you because it disrupts your timing it gives extra time for the defense to react it lowers that ability to make a play after the catch so when you know you have the ball hit your hands especially on screen plays also looking at you Troy Franklin on this
- 43:39[SPEAKER_00]: And you have a bounce off your hands and then you have to go and make that second attempt at catching it, well, now your defense, the defense is reacting there there by the time you get moving up field and you're going to end up getting nothing.
- 43:50[SPEAKER_00]: And something also has a major issue with this on those dig routes that lead to less impact after the catch.
- 43:57[SPEAKER_00]: So you've got to improve those double catches and it goes with the drops and I would say even if you can go from 43 even to 30.
- 44:05[SPEAKER_00]: like just going to keep going like any every single drop even if you go from 43 to 42 that's obviously a major impact just because of how that drop may have came.
- 44:16[SPEAKER_00]: So drops and double catches like
- 44:20[SPEAKER_00]: They didn't help botanics at all there.
- 44:22[SPEAKER_00]: So that's one of the things when you're talking about how, you know, botanics had some of his issues last year.
- 44:26[SPEAKER_00]: It's not all on him because those water receivers didn't give him a lot of favors with it with not just the drops, but the double catches as well.
- 44:32[SPEAKER_00]: Those both of them were driving me nuts all season long.
- 44:36[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I mean, very frustrating.
- 44:40[SPEAKER_02]: Sometimes Bonax could be a little better with the placement on some of those quick passes I feel like, you know, I maybe I'm, again, Peyton was maybe the best at that, like the actual like you couldn't have handed it off better on some of those swings and over the middle field passes but still, the offense, pass catcher specifically, need to help out Bonax and they left a lot of meat on the bone.
- 45:02[SPEAKER_02]: I think again, that was actually a Sean Peyton.
- 45:04[SPEAKER_02]: Fray, he's that one on the combine, I think specifically.
- 45:12[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, the next one has to be running back health with Dobbins, because he was so good last season, top 10.
- 45:17[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, top five, maybe even an efficiency.
- 45:19[SPEAKER_02]: And again, running back is dependent on the overall, I mean, they're all dependent on each other because nobody's isolated and football.
- 45:26[SPEAKER_02]: But J.K. Dobbins being healthy.
- 45:30[SPEAKER_02]: after those two is number three for me.
- 45:32[SPEAKER_02]: Other than overarching health, again, blah, blah, blah, blah, like bonus.
- 45:35[SPEAKER_02]: Drop asses.
- 45:36[SPEAKER_02]: Jickie Dobbins, your floor is higher because RJ Harvey, you're two.
- 45:40[SPEAKER_02]: You still have Bade and McLaughlin.
- 45:41[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think people are gonna be tripping over themselves to pull them off the practice squad if you want them there.
- 45:46[SPEAKER_02]: And then you had a Coleman who, God, man, could you come in and just be a workhorse, common on guy type for this offense.
- 45:54[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if Denver's got the tight ends to manipulate teams enough, like the barriers have,
- 46:00[SPEAKER_02]: Overall, God, loveland looks like a star.
- 46:03[SPEAKER_02]: I was wrong to like Warren more than loveland.
- 46:05[SPEAKER_02]: I'll say that right now.
- 46:06[SPEAKER_02]: The people are still holding on to Warren watching both of them.
- 46:09[SPEAKER_02]: I'm just curious trying to recalibrate.
- 46:11[SPEAKER_02]: Loveland's going to be the best Titan in football in two years, I think.
- 46:16[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
- 46:17[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe I'm over my heel.
- 46:17[SPEAKER_02]: He looks special.
- 46:19[SPEAKER_02]: But you got to have JK Domins be healthy.
- 46:24[SPEAKER_02]: I think that's a difference between a good offense and replicating losses and I have in the floor drop off a bit like it did versus top three.
- 46:31[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I didn't I didn't go health with any of any of this with the offense or the defense is because I think that's a given like obviously.
- 46:39[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that's not as specific as these interesting because of these you have to like, yeah, it's the caveat with him.
- 46:44[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but I did have just getting a finding a consistent run game in part of that is having Dobbins all day.
- 46:50[SPEAKER_00]: It's finding out your way that you want to use your three running backs because I don't think you can look at what they did last year and say, oh, yeah, we can just do that with the three this year, because of where Dobbins was most effective, when terms of his touches and his number as an apps for game, you have a 34 point one snaps for game, but he was a little bit better when he was actually under 30, but still keeping that 15 to 18 touch average, I think he averaged like 16.4 touches for game that he played in.
- 47:19[SPEAKER_00]: So you kind of want to, you want to see what that happens there.
- 47:22[SPEAKER_00]: And then in that same span, you had RJ Harvey who was at, I want to say 12 touches for a game give or take in the entire everyday, just wasn't getting any.
- 47:35[SPEAKER_00]: And you, it's like, when you have a guy like John the Coleman as your third back, or even RJ Harvey as your third back, depending on how the rotation pans out, you want a little bit more of that balance three head of the attack.
- 47:45[SPEAKER_00]: So,
- 47:45[SPEAKER_00]: It wasn't just the health of Dobbins, it was just finding consistent run game and figuring how to use these three running backs in a way that works for all of them and what makes it so difficult is, Jonah Coleman has that past protecting ability and he's a very capable receiver as well, very underrated element to his game.
- 48:04[SPEAKER_00]: Whereas you have Harvey who doesn't have that past protection yet, he showed him promote it in the season.
- 48:10[SPEAKER_00]: But what's the next, can you take that next step with it?
- 48:13[SPEAKER_00]: But he has far more dangerous as a receiver than Jonah Coleman is.
- 48:16[SPEAKER_00]: So how is that third down balance going to be between the two?
- 48:19[SPEAKER_00]: And I would think of like more obvious passing down, you might see Coleman, if you're kind of in that in between, maybe Harvey as in third and short situations probably Coleman as well.
- 48:29[SPEAKER_00]: It's something that they really got to figure out and just finding that consistency and again, the way to use all three of them to where they're not giving away tells the defense and still keeping all their options available to them on the offense.
- 48:43[SPEAKER_02]: With you.
- 48:45[SPEAKER_02]: Gosh, man, Dobbins was so fun watching him last season when healthy.
- 48:49[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, his ability to press the line of skirmish and then kind of found that find that lane just the pacing that he had with the
- 48:59[SPEAKER_02]: The body type as well, you know, a sturdy build.
- 49:01[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm hoping that we, again, raise the forth Coleman Harvey.
- 49:05[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe, I mean, shouldn't count on Harvey.
- 49:07[SPEAKER_02]: I know we're all excited about Coleman.
- 49:08[SPEAKER_02]: You brought Dobbins back, but Harvey's built too.
- 49:12[SPEAKER_02]: And some maybe he'll never find that vision in pacing in the spacing at UCF and what he was allowed to do there is they're he different than NFL.
- 49:22[SPEAKER_02]: But I think we're
- 49:25[SPEAKER_02]: We're sleeping a little bit on the potential there like it could click and float out for him as a runner and even if it doesn't the floor is quite high because of what he does is the past catcher and the explosive element that he still brings in that body type, but yeah, I mean, got to got to talk about Jkadavans being healthy.
- 49:43[SPEAKER_02]: But I'll give it to you.
- 49:44[SPEAKER_02]: We're gonna run out of time here.
- 49:45[SPEAKER_02]: I still had a couple more points about what could make the offense top five this season.
- 49:52[SPEAKER_02]: They wanna shout out Jettie Splash saying, we guys are best needed to sober up on the excitement.
- 49:55[SPEAKER_02]: You can be excited.
- 49:56[SPEAKER_02]: I'm excited too.
- 49:57[SPEAKER_02]: For what the Broncos offense could be this season.
- 50:02[SPEAKER_02]: I think there's a chance that the offense is better than the defense.
- 50:05[SPEAKER_02]: Also, which I don't think people are
- 50:07[SPEAKER_02]: Thinking right now, but I think the defense had a lot of luck last season.
- 50:11[SPEAKER_02]: And I don't know how sustainable some of that is.
- 50:14[SPEAKER_02]: They need to take away the frickin' ball to kind of react some of that.
- 50:16[SPEAKER_02]: But we'll see, I guess a good chance you often is better than the defense.
- 50:20[SPEAKER_02]: Honestly, I think defense top 10 offense, maybe top 8 is what I'm looking right now.
- 50:25[SPEAKER_02]: But Congra also says, what do you guys say?
- 50:29[SPEAKER_02]: Don't drop the ball guys, okay?
- 50:30[SPEAKER_02]: There's techniques they can use and obviously Sean Payton knows better.
- 50:35[SPEAKER_02]: then I do because he's in house and he wasn't happy with the coaching that the players were getting.
- 50:40[SPEAKER_02]: They fired their wide receiver coach.
- 50:42[SPEAKER_02]: So we'll see exactly what they can do there.
- 50:46[SPEAKER_02]: But I'll give the floor to you here, Eric.
- 50:48[SPEAKER_02]: Obviously, I think maybe Konga, the one of the big points here that we, I had, you touched on it for a second, but the other one is probably this one right here about Davis Webb.
- 50:58[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, when in terms of dropping, dropping passes, there's a lot of technique there, but there is some natural ability to it.
- 51:05[SPEAKER_00]: That's why when you know, Scott and players always do they have those natural hands.
- 51:09[SPEAKER_00]: Are they plucking the ball out of the air?
- 51:10[SPEAKER_00]: And you know, the most basic thing is that when you go and you're catching a ball, you make the diamond with your finger and your thumb, you know, kind of like your double L's.
- 51:20[SPEAKER_00]: that and see the ball in and tuck it.
- 51:23[SPEAKER_00]: And a lot of times it's like you'll see that you'll see these guys kind of go in more like this kind of like grabbing at it or gator arms with it, which leaves the drops and you know that there's just a lot that goes into it and it's a technique and it's also a little bit of a mentality thing with how you're attacking the ball when it's coming your way.
- 51:38[SPEAKER_00]: But as for Davis Webb, I mean, and doing that Sean Peyton, you and I are a
- 51:50[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think he was terrible, like we throughout doing the shows, you know, throughout the year, we saw a lot of Sean Bain's terrible at this.
- 51:58[SPEAKER_00]: He can't go up waste, he was fine, he was good even.
- 52:04[SPEAKER_02]: He's too fast happy for me.
- 52:05[SPEAKER_02]: That's my biggest issue, but I'm sorry, Mark, this just that drives me nuts.
- 52:11[SPEAKER_00]: My biggest issue was a lot of the pay play sequencing in the decisions and you got a fact, try to figure out how much of that was, you know, the limitations of some players on offense and, you know, what they had on offense, but like he was, they've built this team to be aggressive.
- 52:26[SPEAKER_00]: And this is, this is my biggest issue with, which aren't being as a play card.
- 52:29[SPEAKER_00]: They built this team to be aggressive, both on offense and defense.
- 52:33[SPEAKER_00]: And then when it got time to be aggressive on offense, he would go passive.
- 52:37[SPEAKER_00]: third down and you're throwing it behind the line of scrimmage on a screen like how many times did we see that last season like way more times than it's acceptable
- 52:48[SPEAKER_00]: I do think that eventually we will see Sean Peyton as a play caller again, I wouldn't be surprised at all if it's next year because if Davis Webb does well, he gets a head coaching job.
- 52:58[SPEAKER_00]: I think that's basically a given like this is his this is his shot to like go out there do well.
- 53:04[SPEAKER_00]: We've seen it a lot.
- 53:05[SPEAKER_00]: Those one-year play callers or one-year offensive coordinator's even if they're not the play callers go out there and get the head coaching job.
- 53:12[SPEAKER_00]: So this is going to be probably his best chance at a coaching job.
- 53:16[SPEAKER_00]: So Kenny handled that pressure because if he goes out there and he fails to play color and the offensive coordinator is that interest for a head coaching coach going to still be there.
- 53:25[SPEAKER_00]: So that's got to weigh on him a little bit and you know living up to expectations being anointed as the play color from Sean Payton for many years was one of the best if not the best play color in the NFL for so long.
- 53:38[SPEAKER_00]: So there's a lot of pressure on him and it's just working on seeing the issues that Sean Peyton had with it.
- 53:46[SPEAKER_00]: And Sean Peyton, when he talked about giving up, he was self-diagnosing essentially kind of what some of his issues were.
- 53:53[SPEAKER_00]: And so it's can't give us web, take all of that.
- 53:57[SPEAKER_00]: go out there and do well and learn from Sean Peyton really, both what he did well on the mistakes.
- 54:03[SPEAKER_00]: And of course, Sean Peyton, he's still going to have a voice in it.
- 54:06[SPEAKER_00]: He's still, it's not going to be all Sean Peyton has no say in it.
- 54:08[SPEAKER_00]: There's going to be even times that he's calling plays.
- 54:11[SPEAKER_00]: They touch on that.
- 54:12[SPEAKER_00]: There'll be certain situations where he'll kind of take it back.
- 54:15[SPEAKER_00]: but it's basically comes down to Candle Davis web handled the pressure of being a noointed, basically Sean Payton's protege to go out there and be the play caller as well as head coaching aspirations as well as this being the best chance that he's gonna get for a head coaching job in the near future at the very least.
- 54:32[SPEAKER_00]: Can he handle all of that and go out there and be the play caller and the offensive coordinator Broncos really need to help take them to yet another level with their play.
- 54:44[SPEAKER_02]: I know we had a little disagreements last season and I'm probably a little bit influenced by the start of the season.
- 54:51[SPEAKER_02]: The offense was Sean Peyton, the first six games of the year last year because I felt like it was pushing the buttons at the right time because Denver couldn't do anything efficiency-wise.
- 55:01[SPEAKER_02]: Like they were living on the shot plays and that takes design and timing to hit.
- 55:08[SPEAKER_02]: And that is the, obviously the players go out there and have to make the plays, but Denver was doing didly early in the year, and it was Sean Payton pushing the button at the right time.
- 55:19[SPEAKER_02]: So it changed as the season went on, especially changed, because the past game was explosive and not efficient, necessarily, and you lost when Dobbins went down.
- 55:32[SPEAKER_02]: It really kind of changed the complexion, luckily, Bonix played better when Dobbins went down.
- 55:38[SPEAKER_02]: That's another reason that I'm hoping that we can, hey, maybe we can get a little overlap there versus compensating on the other end.
- 55:44[SPEAKER_02]: The final aspect here, Eric.
- 55:50[SPEAKER_02]: Can the offensive lines to sustain its success?
- 55:52[SPEAKER_02]: We've talked about it a little bit on here.
- 55:55[SPEAKER_02]: They've been a top.
- 55:57[SPEAKER_02]: When you combine run blocking and pass blocking, I think it's pretty safe to say.
- 56:01[SPEAKER_02]: They're a top five collective unit, top eight collective unit.
- 56:06[SPEAKER_02]: When you tease out the individual talents, maybe not necessarily the case, but that was a unit that had two first team all pros last season.
- 56:12[SPEAKER_02]: If I'm not mistaken, that may be couldn't get in a little bit of hype from the year previously,
- 56:19[SPEAKER_02]: I digress, they weathered some injuries, last season, I've granted not at offensive tackle too much, which is going to be a real testament.
- 56:30[SPEAKER_02]: This season, if that happens, I'm not going to would.
- 56:33[SPEAKER_02]: But the identity of this team has been the trenches.
- 56:40[SPEAKER_02]: Can the offensive line do it another
- 56:46[SPEAKER_02]: They have to.
- 56:47[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, Carl and I did a show about your two players stepping up.
- 56:51[SPEAKER_02]: Your two and three players needing to step up.
- 56:54[SPEAKER_02]: One I really regret not getting to.
- 56:55[SPEAKER_02]: I thought about it earlier and we just ran out of time was crumb.
- 56:58[SPEAKER_02]: Because like, right now they're like, okay crumb.
- 57:01[SPEAKER_02]: Off is a tackle three.
- 57:01[SPEAKER_02]: God bless God speed.
- 57:02[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe cage case, he'll have tackle.
- 57:03[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
- 57:04[SPEAKER_02]: But right now, the probably as far as like we all assume like a blightersyver better.
- 57:10[SPEAKER_02]: Bones, you three, running back healthy.
- 57:15[SPEAKER_02]: that is so key, and we'll find out, especially the changes of coaching staff and elevations there and everything.
- 57:21[SPEAKER_00]: And part of that is also Luke Wattenberg.
- 57:24[SPEAKER_00]: He wasn't playing very well before the extension, then he went out and he was absolutely playing, he looked like, for the short time before he got hurt after the extension, he looked like a top five center in the NFL.
- 57:37[SPEAKER_00]: Can he play like that consistent?
- 57:39[SPEAKER_00]: What are we going to get out of pin-bought ben powers after he's going back from an entry?
- 57:43[SPEAKER_00]: Garrett Bulls was at the very least a top three tackle I should can we get that out of him?
- 57:47[SPEAKER_00]: Like we got a lot of great play from the offensive line last year.
- 57:50[SPEAKER_00]: Quinn minors had a rough start but was dealing with an illness throughout the season and started playing better and can he, you know?
- 57:57[SPEAKER_00]: be more consistent throughout.
- 57:59[SPEAKER_00]: We've seen it before, so no reason to doubt it, especially with, you know, I'm still being younger.
- 58:02[SPEAKER_00]: Mike McGlunchy, he was probably, you know, overall in the season, he had probably the weakest link I would say, like, of the full-time starters, the weakest link would be Alex Paucheski.
- 58:13[SPEAKER_00]: Um, and he played Edmobly.
- 58:15[SPEAKER_00]: There's a bottom three guard in the NFL last year, guys.
- 58:18[SPEAKER_00]: Like, come on now.
- 58:19[SPEAKER_00]: Um,
- 58:21[SPEAKER_02]: So there's a lot of questions about what are you saying he played admirably, what if where does that voice come in from, I don't But the offensive line being able to stay in their play.
- 58:31[SPEAKER_00]: That is that.
- 58:31[SPEAKER_00]: And so Nick, I have one question for you before we get here.
- 58:34[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, I've got up six of my keys for the offense for the broadcast next year care to take you guess at what that sex one is I mean, you've hit on every unit.
- 58:47[SPEAKER_02]: Besides why receiver.
- 58:49[SPEAKER_02]: We haven't such a long time.
- 58:50[SPEAKER_00]: It's another unit we haven't touched on.
- 58:52[SPEAKER_00]: We've talked about it, but it wasn't part of that end.
- 58:55[SPEAKER_00]: That end.
- 58:56[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 58:56[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, obviously.
- 58:57[SPEAKER_00]: You can look at position.
- 58:58[SPEAKER_02]: Don't look at block.
- 58:59[SPEAKER_02]: Better blocking.
- 59:00[SPEAKER_02]: I've kind of resigned myself to that not be in the case with how the offseason went.
- 59:05[SPEAKER_02]: They don't really have the body types in there and the way the draft went, they didn't really have the opportunity, but I bet you they were hoping was one of their around four picks like, oh, we can get one of those tight ends.
- 59:15[SPEAKER_02]: We want.
- 59:16[SPEAKER_02]: Holy shit.
- 59:17[SPEAKER_00]: It's got only for a cast.
- 59:19[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 59:19[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 59:19[SPEAKER_02]: I've, that's, I don't know, based on what we heard going into that draft that makes a lot of sense to me, but, you know, that is what it is on that front.
- 59:34[SPEAKER_02]: You brought in water, obviously.
- 59:36[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, we haven't even talked about frickin' and water will come in.
- 59:38[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, other than some of the deep pressing of the defense, but the explosive plays that he can bring and because of how Denver is built, they're not gonna force teams into heavy personnel.
- 59:48[SPEAKER_02]: Often they're past happy.
- 59:50[SPEAKER_02]: They're not really a built for the power run game and it'll depend on the offensive line they're running backs, but the tight end isn't influencing at all.
- 59:57[SPEAKER_02]: Can you still get explosives in a versus dime nickel to high safety shells?
- 1:00:05[SPEAKER_02]: They don't really have yak.
- 1:00:06[SPEAKER_02]: Guys, and that's necessarily but water, kind of, kind of can be, and I'm not, I'm talking like the Debo Samuel builds with their running backs, essentially.
- 1:00:14[SPEAKER_02]: I think that's something that they're interested in.
- 1:00:16[SPEAKER_02]: Given they're interested in Chris Bell and some other Sean Peyton guys put historically, but really, on the other aspect is, you have three still rookie contract, wide receivers, who all could develop into wide receiver twos.
- 1:00:27[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, in theory, wide receiver three is good value players.
- 1:00:30[SPEAKER_02]: Water changes the math a little bit,
- 1:00:32[SPEAKER_02]: Can he drop, don't drop some as many of the balls, but he's a good ex still, but the other aspect is you have again, I just the unknown, not unknown, but still developing with a ceiling unknown talents in men's and I'll go from the most known to the least known, but men's Franklin Brian close together, I mean, one of those guys could end up being a good number to still with their talent and that really changes the complexion of the offense, as well, especially if you're going to be as
- 1:01:03[SPEAKER_02]: 11% of the number probably is based on how the roster is built.
- 1:01:07[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 1:01:09[UNKNOWN]: And
- 1:01:10[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, I don't really have a whole lot to add there.
- 1:01:12[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, the Widersy ver how it shapes out.
- 1:01:13[SPEAKER_00]: That's one of the other articles here.
- 1:01:17[SPEAKER_00]: The thing I did was, you know, question that need to answer to the authorities and then the Widersy ver make up is one of them because you have water and you have Sutton.
- 1:01:25[SPEAKER_00]: And then how is it going to look after them?
- 1:01:27[SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, Sean Payton has Lodron Humphrey as a favorite.
- 1:01:30[SPEAKER_00]: Does that mean that it pushes, you know, to keep him around?
- 1:01:33[SPEAKER_00]: Does that mean it pushes one of those other three out the door?
- 1:01:36[SPEAKER_00]: It's something that we've talked about a lot about a potential trade at Widersy ver.
- 1:01:39[SPEAKER_00]: you know, the Von Bailey.
- 1:01:41[SPEAKER_00]: So it's, there's a lot of questions with this white receiver room that Jalen Water doesn't, he doesn't erase all of them.
- 1:01:50[SPEAKER_00]: And so it's still getting, you know, if they do keep, you know, Franklin Brian and Mims can they all take their next step.
- 1:01:57[SPEAKER_00]: Mims, I'm kind of putting on the back partner here because after three years in the NFL, if we haven't seen, I mean, we've seen flashes, but if we haven't seen the consistency of it,
- 1:02:06[SPEAKER_02]: It's a very, very, very mixed big place.
- 1:02:09[SPEAKER_02]: Like, he's that utility player in baseball that comes in and is like, in the playoff when you need it, he hits a whole month.
- 1:02:13[SPEAKER_02]: It's like, why don't we get this guy more shots?
- 1:02:15[SPEAKER_02]: There's probably something to it.
- 1:02:17[SPEAKER_02]: But when he does make plays, they're freaking loud.
- 1:02:20[SPEAKER_02]: You know, like, they're memorable.
- 1:02:22[SPEAKER_00]: And I mean, they've been critical place.
- 1:02:26[SPEAKER_00]: I can't get over the cash that he made against the mangles in the 2024 season to take it over time.
- 1:02:30[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, that was insane.
- 1:02:32[SPEAKER_00]: And like that was, you know, I remember a lot of people last year were hoping that he takes that next step.
- 1:02:36[SPEAKER_00]: But it just is unlikely at this point.
- 1:02:38[SPEAKER_00]: Why receivers do have a little bit of an easier transition to the NFL.
- 1:02:42[SPEAKER_00]: If they're going to be great, they show it a little bit, they show it earlier, more often than not.
- 1:02:47[SPEAKER_00]: So he's a very good
- 1:02:51[SPEAKER_00]: can Franklin, you know, we talk about drops.
- 1:02:54[SPEAKER_00]: Can he take the next step with cutting down the drops?
- 1:02:57[SPEAKER_00]: He showed progress with the route writing.
- 1:02:59[SPEAKER_00]: Now it's cleaning up the hands.
- 1:03:00[SPEAKER_00]: Can Pat Bryan say out there and stay healthy and stay viable option for them.
- 1:03:04[SPEAKER_00]: Like, a lot of questions with the lighter, see for room that, what old doesn't cap?
- 1:03:10[SPEAKER_00]: Doesn't erase all of them.
- 1:03:14[SPEAKER_02]: All right, well, we really got into it here.
- 1:03:15[SPEAKER_02]: I had time to still talk about the white receiver room as well because I mean,
- 1:03:20[SPEAKER_02]: There's a reality out there and again, it's kind of in the for those who've been here long enough me when I kind of roll my eyes back.
- 1:03:26[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, there's still a chance to do all could end up being a top three quarterback after, you know, where he was drafted in the years of data, but some respect on the same well winners, maybe God bless him out there living in the best city in the lower 48 for my money.
- 1:03:40[SPEAKER_02]: So he's a lucky man.
- 1:03:42[SPEAKER_02]: And a lot of money.
- 1:03:43[SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, the, the wide receiver room.
- 1:03:47[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, there's still a chance that Pat Brian ends up being a
- 1:03:50[SPEAKER_02]: an absolute star, right?
- 1:03:51[SPEAKER_02]: Like any, I don't know if he's the athletic type, but that's somewhat overrated for why receiver to some extent.
- 1:03:59[SPEAKER_02]: It's not always the best singular athlete.
- 1:04:00[SPEAKER_02]: It's not defensive line.
- 1:04:03[SPEAKER_02]: So we're tied into some extent.
- 1:04:05[SPEAKER_02]: But that's it.
- 1:04:06[SPEAKER_02]: Gosh, quarterback health drops, running back room, running back efficiency.
- 1:04:12[SPEAKER_02]: All things that Sean Bain has talked about or just obvious gimmies, as well.
- 1:04:16[SPEAKER_02]: So find episode.
- 1:04:19[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, the only meat left on the bone of your article Eric, I would say would be the youth of the widresaver room because there's still a chance on one of those guys' pops on that rookie contract.
- 1:04:27[SPEAKER_02]: So, but I'm glad we kind of talked about it.
- 1:04:30[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe we can talk about the defense next week, as well, I'm a little bit more.
- 1:04:35[SPEAKER_02]: I honestly am higher in the offense entering the season than the defense, which maybe is not a good thing, because this has been such a defense oriented team.
- 1:04:43[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe that'll be a cold takes exposed, but we are way over, so we're gonna get out of here.
- 1:04:48[SPEAKER_02]: Make sure you guys are following Eric and I on the X machine, Eric is at Eric Trickle.
- 1:04:53[SPEAKER_02]: I'm at Nick Kendall, I'm at JJ Dillon Hangout in the back.
- 1:04:56[SPEAKER_02]: I'm at Hangout, I'm doing work.

- 1:05:12[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I'm gonna say remember to run and shoot.
- 1:05:14[SPEAKER_02]: Offense, I do.
- 1:05:16[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you, you probably want to get teens out of the, uh, those dime packages if possible and not have your quarterback in those positions, but heck, if you couldn't run out of that, maybe there's something to talk about, but we're going to get out of here.
- 1:05:28[SPEAKER_02]: Eric, we'll see you again next Friday.
- 1:05:29[SPEAKER_02]: We'll see all you guys again next Friday.
