- 0:00Speaker 1: Yeah, that.
- 0:02Speaker 2: Chuck Norris was chasing the Tyrannosaurus Rex. The rex was
- 0:06Speaker 2: not chasing the jeep. Murray Murry, you there. You love sandwiches. Huh,
- 0:11Speaker 2: let's go to eighty.
- 0:13Speaker 3: It was bo.
- 0:16Speaker 1: Wow that Prime Time. Maybe I had a crush on
- 0:18Speaker 1: Betty Rubble.
- 0:19Speaker 4: I honestly, until after the segment ended and we went
- 0:22Speaker 4: to commercial break, had no idea that Jonathan Coachman was black.
- 0:25Speaker 1: He caught them the game last night, although they won
- 0:28Speaker 1: the game. You're listening to Stu Gotsen Company.
- 0:31Speaker 4: It is two Gotts, a company presented by FanDuel and
- 0:34Speaker 4: the FanDuel sportsbook. We are now, I don't know, forty
- 0:37Speaker 4: eight hours removed from the Knicks winning their first NBA
- 0:40Speaker 4: championship in fifty three years. Were exhausted around here. Me
- 0:43Speaker 4: and mikey A were laughing. Normally, the Knicks aren't good.
- 0:46Speaker 4: Normally we have nothing to carry us this deep into
- 0:48Speaker 4: the summer. That Knicks have carried us, Mikeya all the
- 0:52Speaker 4: way to football. I mean, we are close to college
- 0:56Speaker 4: football and the NFL. I'm normally done with my sports calendar,
- 1:04Speaker 4: married me this far. They've never carried me this close
- 1:06Speaker 4: to football. It's very exciting it is.
- 1:09Speaker 5: I will say this, Jalen Brunson changed my life because
- 1:12Speaker 5: he gave me a month of content that I and
- 1:15Speaker 5: no other year have had and I appreciate that. Thank you,
- 1:18Speaker 5: Jalen for all you've given me.
- 1:21Speaker 4: The good news is we're closer to football, or the
- 1:23Speaker 4: bad news is we missed half of our summer. Jesus
- 1:27Speaker 4: sorry anyway, Taylor, what's going on with the Knicks? They
- 1:30Speaker 4: seem to be enjoying this very much, and they should be.
- 1:32Speaker 4: I'm happy before.
- 1:34Speaker 6: The Knicks are living their absolute best life right now,
- 1:37Speaker 6: whether it's on the Jimmy Fallon Show, whether it's going
- 1:41Speaker 6: on Good Morning America, the Today Show. The Knicks are
- 1:44Speaker 6: having the time of their lives right now. And there
- 1:47Speaker 6: have been some videos that have come out of Jalen
- 1:50Speaker 6: Brunson giving a toast at a bar, and in the
- 1:54Speaker 6: toast you could hear him very clearly say we're toasting
- 1:58Speaker 6: to fuck Wemby.
- 2:00Speaker 1: That Jesus Christ. He's feeling so good about himself.
- 2:04Speaker 6: And there's people on both sides that one. I don't
- 2:09Speaker 6: think somebody should be recording those kind of settings, and
- 2:13Speaker 6: the team should have those moments to themselves.
- 2:15Speaker 1: Taylor, I got news for you. This team has signed
- 2:18Speaker 1: up for being recorded all the time. I don't care.
- 2:21Speaker 1: I don't want to hear about it.
- 2:22Speaker 6: No I do. I do agree to a certain extent.
- 2:25Speaker 6: You're a public figure in the most populated city in
- 2:28Speaker 6: the world, Like yes, people are going to go out
- 2:30Speaker 6: and record you. There's two sides of it, where some
- 2:33Speaker 6: people are like Jalen Brunson should act with some more class.
- 2:37Speaker 6: You don't have to say fuck Wemby. The other side
- 2:39Speaker 6: of it is Knicks fans saying Wemby was a bit
- 2:43Speaker 6: of a punk where he walks off the court the
- 2:45Speaker 6: way he acted the series. He doesn't shake hands to
- 2:48Speaker 6: the Knicks after they win the championship. I just want
- 2:51Speaker 6: to say I love the rivalry. I am all for
- 2:54Speaker 6: more rivalries in basketball. If Nick Spurs becomes this big
- 2:58Speaker 6: rivalry because of Wemby, because of Jalen Brunson, because of
- 3:01Speaker 6: this finals, I'm all for it.
- 3:03Speaker 4: I gotta say I don't want to hear about Jalen
- 3:05Speaker 4: Brunson in his class. Okay, series was over, Jalen Brunson
- 3:08Speaker 4: sought out Wemby, tried to shake his hand.
- 3:10Speaker 1: Wemby wanted nothing to do with it.
- 3:12Speaker 4: Johnson, Brunson still patted.
- 3:15Speaker 1: Him on the back.
- 3:16Speaker 4: Wemby walked off the court like Isaiah Thomas and the
- 3:18Speaker 4: Pistons did against the Bulls after losing finally to the
- 3:22Speaker 4: Bulls in the NBA Finals.
- 3:23Speaker 1: I don't want to hear about it.
- 3:25Speaker 4: Jalen Brunson tried to do the classy thing when you
- 3:28Speaker 4: were supposed to do the classy thing.
- 3:30Speaker 1: You know who wasn't classy Wemby.
- 3:33Speaker 4: And so you know what Brunston is doing now, while
- 3:35Speaker 4: he's getting hammered all over Manhattan, he is chanting fuck Wemby,
- 3:38Speaker 4: And I'm all for it.
- 3:40Speaker 1: Good for him, yep.
- 3:41Speaker 5: He's only doing privately what Wemby did publicly, which is
- 3:46Speaker 5: just agitate the other side. That's all he's doing. I
- 3:49Speaker 5: got no problem with Jalen Brunson in a bar saying
- 3:52Speaker 5: fuck Wemby, you know what, because Wemby spent the entire
- 3:56Speaker 5: series saying fuck the Knicks.
- 3:58Speaker 1: Yes, you reap what yourself yep. I Also I'm with
- 4:01Speaker 1: Tailor on this.
- 4:02Speaker 4: I have no problem with Wemby assuming some sort of
- 4:05Speaker 4: NBA villain role because the NBA needs that, It's always
- 4:08Speaker 4: needed that. And if Wemby wants to be the face
- 4:10Speaker 4: of the league and not liked. Man, is that a
- 4:13Speaker 4: great thing for the NBA? It really is. Who would
- 4:16Speaker 4: have thought the Knicks would be the lovable team in
- 4:18Speaker 4: this scenario.
- 4:19Speaker 1: It's crazy.
- 4:20Speaker 6: That's the problem, because I think a lot of neutral
- 4:23Speaker 6: NBA fans are looking at it and saying Wemby was
- 4:26Speaker 6: very unlikable this series. He if you go to a
- 4:29Speaker 6: Game six, you can make the argument that Wemby should
- 4:32Speaker 6: have been suspended because they missed a couple of flagrant
- 4:34Speaker 6: fouls on him. The other side of that coin is
- 4:39Speaker 6: you're looking at who you would be supporting if you're
- 4:42Speaker 6: not supporting Wemby, and it's like, yeah, I don't really
- 4:44Speaker 6: want to support the Knicks and those fans. So it's
- 4:47Speaker 6: like it's a pick your battle, and you're losing the
- 4:49Speaker 6: battle no matter what you pick.
- 4:52Speaker 5: This is a perfect storm for the NBA. Because my wife,
- 4:56Speaker 5: who watches zero basketball at the NBA level, turned to
- 5:02Speaker 5: me and good, why is Wemba Mama such an asshole?
- 5:06Speaker 5: And I was like, first off, it's web Bin Yama.
- 5:09Speaker 5: Secondly because he just is Apparently that's what the foreign
- 5:13Speaker 5: players are, And she said, well, can't the NBA do
- 5:15Speaker 5: anything to stop it, And I go, why would they
- 5:18Speaker 5: you're talking about it, You're talking when would you ever
- 5:20Speaker 5: talk about this? This is what they want.
- 5:23Speaker 4: Right, by the way, it wasn't just Wemby. It wasn't
- 5:25Speaker 4: just the fact that he's a foreign player. None of
- 5:28Speaker 4: the Spurs, including Stefan Castle, Dylan Harper, no one was
- 5:31Speaker 4: shaking hands after the game, right Taylor.
- 5:33Speaker 1: I mean the Spurs just got off the court. The
- 5:36Speaker 1: only one.
- 5:36Speaker 6: That I've seen reported to shake the Knicks hands was
- 5:39Speaker 6: Luke Cornett. And Luke Cornett, you guys know my stance
- 5:43Speaker 6: on former Knicks. All former Knicks earned a title. So
- 5:47Speaker 6: Luke Cornett, I think he was shaking hands because by
- 5:50Speaker 6: my personal record book, Luke Cornett did win a title.
- 5:54Speaker 1: Really wow.
- 5:55Speaker 5: So he didn't shaken he was celebrating, right Yeah.
- 5:58Speaker 1: Can you explain that out further?
- 6:00Speaker 4: You saying just because he merely shook hands after the No.
- 6:03Speaker 6: No, So this this is part of the era you
- 6:06Speaker 6: missed as a Knicks fan. Luke Cornett was on some
- 6:09Speaker 6: of those Knicks teams that were winning like twenty to
- 6:11Speaker 6: twenty five games a season. I think it was I
- 6:13Speaker 6: think it was the next starting center at one point gee,
- 6:16Speaker 6: some some absolutely terrible teams.
- 6:19Speaker 1: This is why we never made it this close to football.
- 6:21Speaker 6: I mean, our season normally checked out after the draft lottery,
- 6:27Speaker 6: like like we would see where the Knicks finished in
- 6:29Speaker 6: the draft lottery. Oh, they have the best odds to
- 6:31Speaker 6: getting the number one pick or the number two pick.
- 6:33Speaker 6: Of course they fall down to number three. That's that's
- 6:36Speaker 6: where our season normally ended before Jalen Brunson got it.
- 6:39Speaker 4: So you're saying the K and Cornett stands for Nick
- 6:41Speaker 4: for life, right, Yeah, he's.
- 6:43Speaker 6: The great Nick except for that time he pushed Josh Hart.
- 6:45Speaker 1: He's not a great Nick.
- 6:47Speaker 4: He's an okay Nick that he just feel like giving
- 6:50Speaker 4: a ring to because he shook some people's hands after
- 6:52Speaker 4: the series.
- 6:53Speaker 6: If we're being honest, I think even saying he was
- 6:56Speaker 6: an okay Nick is doing a lot of work for him.
- 6:59Speaker 1: He takes it.
- 7:01Speaker 6: He would sign up for if you called his Nick
- 7:03Speaker 6: tenure okay Nick.
- 7:05Speaker 1: Yes.
- 7:06Speaker 4: But if like Cornett's friends were evesdropping on your conversation
- 7:09Speaker 4: and they came home and said, hey, Luke, I found
- 7:11Speaker 4: a guy who said you were okay as a Nick,
- 7:13Speaker 4: he'd be like.
- 7:14Speaker 1: Huhh really wow, I'll take it. That's great. No one's
- 7:19Speaker 1: ever said that about me before. Is that fair?
- 7:23Speaker 6: That is more than fair. He spent two seasons with
- 7:26Speaker 6: the Knicks, in twenty seventeen, twenty eighteen and then twenty
- 7:31Speaker 6: eighteen twenty nineteen. He averaged six point nine points per game.
- 7:36Speaker 1: Yep.
- 7:37Speaker 4: All this is interesting, Mikey because you have this team.
- 7:41Speaker 4: The expectations were not so huge for Jalen Brunson, for
- 7:46Speaker 4: Josh Hart, for McHale Bridges. We'll get to him at
- 7:49Speaker 4: just a second. No one's enjoying this championship more apparently
- 7:53Speaker 4: than McHale Bridges. We'll get to him. But it's all
- 7:55Speaker 4: about expectations. A lot of things in life are about
- 7:58Speaker 4: expectations and what expectations people have for you in your
- 8:02Speaker 4: particular field. And the expectations for Jalen Brunson were never
- 8:08Speaker 4: lead guy in a championship team and the biggest market
- 8:10Speaker 4: in the world. And the expectations for Wemby since he
- 8:14Speaker 4: entered the NBA was this guy's gonna hog all the
- 8:16Speaker 4: trophies eventually.
- 8:18Speaker 1: And he might still do that. But I think that's
- 8:20Speaker 1: why you have this Nick.
- 8:21Speaker 4: Team as a lovable team, a team that the country
- 8:24Speaker 4: has really rallied behind because you have a bunch of
- 8:27Speaker 4: guys who weren't supposed to be lifting the Larry O'Brien
- 8:29Speaker 4: Trophy and they did it against the guy we call
- 8:32Speaker 4: an aliot. Think about that, right, that has to factor
- 8:35Speaker 4: in as to why the Knicks are lovable and Wemby
- 8:38Speaker 4: is not liked.
- 8:38Speaker 6: Right now, the only player on this Knixt team that
- 8:42Speaker 6: probably entered their NBA career with title type aspirations was
- 8:47Speaker 6: Karl Anthony Towns when he goes one coming out of Kentucky.
- 8:51Speaker 6: But then even Carl Anthony Towns has been picked apart
- 8:55Speaker 6: so much in his NBA career. This guy's too soft.
- 8:58Speaker 6: The whole Jimmy Butler fiasco in Minnesota where Jimmy Butler
- 9:02Speaker 6: has has this display of embarrassment with him where Jimmy
- 9:06Speaker 6: Butler just takes four random guys and says, I'm gonna
- 9:10Speaker 6: play you guys and we're gonna beat you guys before
- 9:12Speaker 6: before he leaves there, and you're you're looking at somebody
- 9:16Speaker 6: like Karl Anthony Towns, where yeah, he had these expectations,
- 9:19Speaker 6: but even even somebody like Karl Anthony Towns how to
- 9:23Speaker 6: rebuild his reputation and now going forward for the rest
- 9:26Speaker 6: of his career. Like Karl Anthony Towns is a New
- 9:28Speaker 6: York Knicks legend.
- 9:29Speaker 4: Yeah, no question, They're all legends, every one of them.
- 9:33Speaker 4: Michale Bridges, we give a five picks for him. He's
- 9:36Speaker 4: he's a legend. But no one is enjoying this more
- 9:38Speaker 4: than Mikail Bridges.
- 9:39Speaker 1: What is he doing right now? Taylor? Like, what has
- 9:41Speaker 1: he been doing since they won the NBA jam be
- 9:43Speaker 1: jip drinking?
- 9:45Speaker 6: Mckel Bridges has not had I don't think mckel Bridges
- 9:49Speaker 6: has stopped drinking since since they won the title. He
- 9:52Speaker 6: was on Instagram Live yesterday. He these are all the
- 9:58Speaker 6: things that happened on his Instagram Live. He shouted out
- 10:01Speaker 6: Atlanta for pissing him off and turning him up. He
- 10:04Speaker 6: called his teammate Ariel hit Poorty thirty five and joked
- 10:07Speaker 6: that Porty lied on his birth certificate. He called he
- 10:13Speaker 6: called Jalen Brunson the goat and said that his big
- 10:16Speaker 6: ass head needs a statue outside Madison Square Garden. Yeah,
- 10:21Speaker 6: he kept referring to Victor Wembinyama as the French Prince.
- 10:26Speaker 6: He confirmed that James that James Dolan told the team
- 10:31Speaker 6: not to have sex for ten weeks.
- 10:35Speaker 4: I love that James go tole It is getting so
- 10:38Speaker 4: much credit from the players, by the way, for delivering
- 10:41Speaker 4: a great, passionate speech right before the playoffs started. They
- 10:44Speaker 4: won four of the last five in the regular season
- 10:47Speaker 4: and then lost what four games in the postseason?
- 10:49Speaker 1: Crazy.
- 10:51Speaker 6: He He admitted that he could have played better and
- 10:56Speaker 6: still has more to prove In New York. He said
- 10:59Speaker 6: he wishes he was in the room when Coldplay made
- 11:02Speaker 6: the song Lost. That one was kind of out of out.
- 11:05Speaker 1: Of left field, weird, good song, though.
- 11:08Speaker 6: Do you wish you were in the room when it
- 11:10Speaker 6: was made?
- 11:11Speaker 4: No, I don't care. I'm just glad they made it.
- 11:13Speaker 4: I enjoy the song. I don't have to be in
- 11:14Speaker 4: the room when they make it. I just I enjoy
- 11:16Speaker 4: the song, that's all.
- 11:17Speaker 6: I'm not as big of a music person as you like.
- 11:21Speaker 6: You're well documented traveling the country to see Grateful, Dead,
- 11:25Speaker 6: Dead and Company. I don't think there's a song that's
- 11:28Speaker 6: ever been made where I would be like I wish
- 11:30Speaker 6: I was in the room to see when it was made.
- 11:32Speaker 3: Wow, oh man, you are wrong about that, by the way, real, Mike,
- 11:38Speaker 3: is there a song where you wish you were just
- 11:40Speaker 3: kind of sitting around listening together.
- 11:45Speaker 1: I mean, I can think countless Dead songs.
- 11:47Speaker 4: I'm just trying to think, like, I don't know, was
- 11:49Speaker 4: there so Sweet Home Alabama?
- 11:53Speaker 5: That one Wasn't that one is a response to a
- 11:57Speaker 5: Neil Young song?
- 11:58Speaker 1: I believe it was.
- 11:59Speaker 5: Yeah, So I mean that they were.
- 12:01Speaker 1: Angry to Heaven.
- 12:03Speaker 5: I mean, I don't know all the music. I like,
- 12:06Speaker 5: it's like like Pearl Jam, Like, I'm sitting there, going
- 12:09Speaker 5: you really want to be in the room while he's
- 12:11Speaker 5: talking about the stuff he's talking about. No, I think
- 12:14Speaker 5: I'm good.
- 12:16Speaker 4: Is it a drunk brag that he was in the
- 12:17Speaker 4: room during Cold Play? I'm not certain how exciting it
- 12:21Speaker 4: would be. Actually, I take it back. If you are
- 12:24Speaker 4: sitting there and you're a fly on the wall and
- 12:28Speaker 4: led Zeppelin is putting together Stairway to Heaven. I'm not
- 12:31Speaker 4: certain Taylor knows who led Zeppelin is. I am not
- 12:34Speaker 4: certain he's ever listened to Stairway to Heaven. But if
- 12:37Speaker 4: you are indeed a fly on the wall and you
- 12:39Speaker 4: love music, you're a fly who loves music, and you
- 12:42Speaker 4: get to hear them put together piece together Stairway to Heaven,
- 12:46Speaker 4: that'd be pretty cool.
- 12:47Speaker 6: Right, this might be this might be a situation where
- 12:54Speaker 6: you guys could you guys could pitch this to me
- 12:56Speaker 6: all day and I'm just never really gonna see your
- 12:58Speaker 6: side of this argument.
- 12:59Speaker 4: You would be in the room where the Knicks a
- 13:01Speaker 4: figuring out how to get Jalen Brunson.
- 13:03Speaker 1: Is my god.
- 13:06Speaker 6: I would pay top dollar to be in Leon Rose's
- 13:10Speaker 6: office when he was negotiating. Yeah, Jujus Randall for Karl
- 13:14Speaker 6: Anthony Towns trade.
- 13:15Speaker 4: Right, Mikey, you'd rather be in a war room than
- 13:17Speaker 4: be in a room where someone's making a song.
- 13:19Speaker 1: Correct, Oh, man.
- 13:20Speaker 5: Give it. Get me in the room where they're like, hey, guys,
- 13:23Speaker 5: I think we should draft Zach Wilson.
- 13:26Speaker 1: This is why I think we should.
- 13:28Speaker 5: I would love to be in the room just to
- 13:30Speaker 5: watch everybody else's face when they go.
- 13:32Speaker 4: No, yeah, I'm thinking about Matt Rushmore.
- 13:35Speaker 1: Rooms for Matt Rushmore, Monday on a Tuesday. You gotta
- 13:38Speaker 1: be honest with you.
- 13:40Speaker 5: Don't do that one.
- 13:41Speaker 1: It's a good one. Don't do that.
- 13:43Speaker 6: So mckel bridges, he keeps going on on this drunken rant.
- 13:48Speaker 6: One of the comments that he made is Becky Hammon,
- 13:51Speaker 6: A lot of people are it's just Nick fans writing
- 13:54Speaker 6: in his chat, and the Knicks fans are basically saying, like,
- 13:57Speaker 6: you know, bleep Becky Hammon, bleep Becky ham And to
- 14:01Speaker 6: mckel bridge's credit, he comes to Becky Hammond's defense and says, like,
- 14:06Speaker 6: you know, she's a real one, like people should respect
- 14:09Speaker 6: her basketball opinion. But then he also says this about
- 14:12Speaker 6: how maybe it fueled this next title.
- 14:16Speaker 7: I appreciate Becky no cap the words she said, well,
- 14:20Speaker 7: can't win with JB being you know, one A one B,
- 14:24Speaker 7: he too little.
- 14:28Speaker 8: That didnt fuel that?
- 14:29Speaker 6: Bro Okay, what y'all say?
- 14:32Speaker 8: What he say?
- 14:34Speaker 9: I know him because he ain't gonna tell y'all.
- 14:39Speaker 8: Yeah, yeah, he know that. He knows what she said.
- 14:45Speaker 1: Just do that and go beat him?
- 14:47Speaker 8: Go beat?
- 14:50Speaker 1: Did he turn that into a like like was he
- 14:52Speaker 1: singing there? What was he doing? He had background music?
- 14:55Speaker 1: I mean, so.
- 14:56Speaker 6: What you were listening to is mckel bridges is at
- 15:00Speaker 6: like a party at like some kind of apartment or
- 15:02Speaker 6: he's at his apartment and he's just listening to music
- 15:05Speaker 6: in the background and he's just talking to his phone
- 15:07Speaker 6: on this Instagram live. But I think there is some
- 15:12Speaker 6: credibility to what he's saying about Becky Hammon. Where Knicks
- 15:16Speaker 6: fans when the Knicks win the title, Knicks fans first
- 15:19Speaker 6: thought isn't hey, let's go out and let's celebrate this title.
- 15:22Speaker 6: Knicks fans first thought is, let's get our pitchforks out
- 15:25Speaker 6: and let's criticize Becky Hammond for critiquing our best player,
- 15:30Speaker 6: for being proven wrong about our best player. I think
- 15:34Speaker 6: Knicks fans, as a voice for Knicks fans, I think
- 15:38Speaker 6: we should celebrate Becky Hammond today.
- 15:40Speaker 4: Really, how would you like to celebrate her? I mean,
- 15:42Speaker 4: what are you thinking here?
- 15:44Speaker 6: There's a world where Becky Hammond never says these comments
- 15:47Speaker 6: about Jalen Bronson, because Jalen Brunson his entire career, has
- 15:52Speaker 6: has heard everything. He's too small, he's not athletic enough.
- 15:55Speaker 6: Those comments have fueled him. Anybody who said something negative
- 15:59Speaker 6: about Jalen Brunson, we should be celebrating today because without
- 16:03Speaker 6: those comments, there's a chance that maybe the Spurs are
- 16:07Speaker 6: the champions, maybe the Atlanta Hawks are the champions.
- 16:11Speaker 4: So you're saying anyone who doubted Jalen Brunson, anyone who
- 16:13Speaker 4: said a bad word about Jalen Brunson, all that he
- 16:16Speaker 4: used all of that is fuel as gaso lead to
- 16:19Speaker 4: prove all the doubters wrong. And therefore, those people who
- 16:22Speaker 4: were critical of Jalen Brunson, they deserve to be along
- 16:25Speaker 4: for the ride with the New York Next They contributed
- 16:27Speaker 4: in some small way, is what you're saying.
- 16:30Speaker 6: And I'm glad you said along for the ride because
- 16:32Speaker 6: I think they should be on the float. I think
- 16:33Speaker 6: they should have their own float, a float, a float
- 16:36Speaker 6: of haters. It's it's Nick Wright for saying that Jalen
- 16:39Speaker 6: brunson sweepstakes was the worst sweepstakes of all time. It's
- 16:44Speaker 6: Dan Patrick and Michael Wilbon saying that Jalen Brunson might
- 16:48Speaker 6: not even be a two on a championship level team.
- 16:51Speaker 1: Yes, Stephen A.
- 16:52Speaker 6: Smith comparing Jalen bruns Into He's not even Kevin Durant,
- 16:57Speaker 6: He's not even Kyrie Irving.
- 16:58Speaker 1: Stephen A.
- 16:59Speaker 6: Smith, to his credit, apologized to Jalen Brunton yesterday.
- 17:01Speaker 1: He had him on first agg Well, he had no choice.
- 17:04Speaker 1: He was wrong.
- 17:04Speaker 4: Jalen Brunton's holding up the trophy and he's one of
- 17:07Speaker 4: the best players in the NBA. What would Stephen A.
- 17:10Speaker 4: Smith do otherwise? I mean Hey, I'm still entrenched. You
- 17:13Speaker 4: can't win an NBA championship. I feel like I'll be
- 17:18Speaker 4: sitting there on the set with the Larry O'Brien trophy.
- 17:22Speaker 6: Your move would be to just spin it into now.
- 17:25Speaker 1: Do it again? I would yeah, back to back ye
- 17:28Speaker 1: bah blah.
- 17:29Speaker 4: One championship, bo Jalen. Listen, A lot of guys have
- 17:33Speaker 4: won one, but only a special few have won multiple championships,
- 17:38Speaker 4: and only a special few have won him back to back.
- 17:40Speaker 4: I mean, how about that? That's how I play it.
- 17:42Speaker 4: So a parade float of haters? I like this levator
- 17:46Speaker 4: should be on there? Who else should be on there?
- 17:50Speaker 6: Hmmm?
- 17:52Speaker 1: He ham in. I think Nico Harrison has to be
- 17:54Speaker 1: on there, and he does.
- 17:57Speaker 6: Anybody whose comments even slightly fueled this where I think.
- 18:03Speaker 6: I think if you asked Steven A. Smith, Hey, Stephen A. Smith,
- 18:05Speaker 6: you're gonna be in the next parade, but you're gonna
- 18:07Speaker 6: be on a float of haters. I think Steven A.
- 18:09Speaker 6: Smith signs up for that.
- 18:10Speaker 5: I don't think it is second I feel it. I
- 18:13Speaker 5: think it's like, can I get a throne?
- 18:15Speaker 4: I guess listen, no, he's getting exactly Taylor is giving
- 18:19Speaker 4: him granting him exactly what it is. Steven A has
- 18:21Speaker 4: been asking for the entire time some degree of credit.
- 18:25Speaker 5: Yes, so Taylor follow me down this path. If all
- 18:32Speaker 5: these haters fueled Jalen Brunson, which eventually led to him
- 18:35Speaker 5: winning the title, and you have been nothing but staunchly
- 18:40Speaker 5: supportive of him, did you hurt their chances for.
- 18:43Speaker 6: I knew you were in I knew you're for this.
- 18:49Speaker 5: Yes, he's prepared for he prepared in the mirror for this.
- 18:53Speaker 4: I'm so proud of him. He's thinking about where people
- 18:55Speaker 4: can give you, where they can get me, where can
- 18:57Speaker 4: you get And he's.
- 18:57Speaker 10: Got prepared responses for reaching every scenario of where he
- 19:03Speaker 10: went wrong.
- 19:03Speaker 5: Yes, I'm happy not to disappoint him. Let's go.
- 19:07Speaker 6: The key thing when you have haters is you need
- 19:10Speaker 6: a few people in your corner that are gonna defend
- 19:13Speaker 6: you without question. You need that unwavering loyalty to some nights,
- 19:19Speaker 6: maybe Jalen Brunson is having doubts in the gym like
- 19:22Speaker 6: man Becky Hammond might be right, I might be too
- 19:24Speaker 6: small to win a championship. And then what is Jalen
- 19:27Speaker 6: Brunson See in section seventeen, row D me saying Jalen,
- 19:34Speaker 6: you could do this, buddy. We know and we believe
- 19:36Speaker 6: in you. We know you could do it. And then
- 19:38Speaker 6: what does Jalen Brunson do? He wants to prove those people.
- 19:40Speaker 4: Right, right, But the people who believed in Jalen Brunton,
- 19:43Speaker 4: they're gonna feel jipped.
- 19:44Speaker 1: They're not on the parade float. There's nothing for them.
- 19:47Speaker 4: I mean most people, the people who are critical of
- 19:50Speaker 4: brunts and get in the parade, and the people who
- 19:53Speaker 4: supported him get nothing.
- 19:54Speaker 6: I mean, while I would like to be invited to
- 19:57Speaker 6: the parade and be on the float next to jail yet,
- 20:00Speaker 6: that would be great. Jalen Brunson in five games, this
- 20:06Speaker 6: NBA Finals has given me the gift of a lifetime.
- 20:10Speaker 6: I am as forever an NBA champion. There's nothing anybody
- 20:15Speaker 6: could do to take that away from me. I'm looking
- 20:17Speaker 6: at you guys like I know how much you guys
- 20:20Speaker 6: love the Jets. There is nothing I would love more
- 20:23Speaker 6: than to see you guys reach this level of success
- 20:26Speaker 6: and be able to feel this level of joy. Because
- 20:30Speaker 6: once you once you, once you experience this level of joy.
- 20:35Speaker 6: It's it's something I wish for all my friends.
- 20:37Speaker 4: I've been going through it with you. What do you
- 20:39Speaker 4: mean I've been in Nick fam longer than you have.
- 20:41Speaker 4: Why are you the only one experiencing joy here? And
- 20:43Speaker 4: I'm not what is happening?
- 20:47Speaker 1: I did it?
- 20:47Speaker 4: No, no, but the Cornett stands for Nick for life.
- 21:00Speaker 4: We'll got to Bill Simmons in just a second. Here
- 21:02Speaker 4: he stole something from us. We're gonna play it in
- 21:04Speaker 4: a minute. I'm not certain he knows he stole something
- 21:06Speaker 4: for it. And we do this all under the umbrella
- 21:08Speaker 4: of Taylor. You tell him we love Bill Simmons.
- 21:10Speaker 6: We love Bill Simmons, We respect the Simmons sports guy.
- 21:13Speaker 6: We read all his columns growing up.
- 21:15Speaker 1: I mean, he wrote the book of basketball.
- 21:17Speaker 4: But Mikey, why is Taylor acting like he's the only
- 21:20Speaker 4: one who has some level of feel good with the
- 21:23Speaker 4: Knixt winning an NBA title. He's like, if you guys,
- 21:25Speaker 4: you know, right before we broke there, Hey, if you
- 21:27Speaker 4: guys could feel what it is that I'm feeling. I
- 21:30Speaker 4: am feeling it. I've been feeling it the entire playoff.
- 21:34Speaker 4: It means more to him, Mikey, You're making a face
- 21:36Speaker 4: like it means more to him.
- 21:38Speaker 7: Listen, I'm not saying you're not feeling happy. I'm not
- 21:41Speaker 7: saying you're like, man, that feels good. Yeah, but Taylor
- 21:44Speaker 7: is just on another like. I would hope, and Taylor
- 21:47Speaker 7: did allude to this earlier. I would hope that if
- 21:50Speaker 7: the Jets won the Super Bowl, Taylor would feel for
- 21:52Speaker 7: me the way I feel for him right now, which
- 21:54Speaker 7: is I am just so happy you got to experience this.
- 21:58Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 21:59Speaker 4: Yeah, If the Jets do win a Super Bowl, are
- 22:02Speaker 4: you gonna call me and say, hey, I want to
- 22:03Speaker 4: go down to Jersey. I want to feel with this team.
- 22:06Speaker 4: I want to feel the buzz around East Rutherford.
- 22:10Speaker 1: What are you gonna do?
- 22:13Speaker 4: There's no way New York City is going to allow
- 22:16Speaker 4: the Jets to have a parade.
- 22:18Speaker 1: In their city. Not happening, No way.
- 22:21Speaker 5: No, I don't need to go to East Rutherford to
- 22:23Speaker 5: feel the tension and and the oil.
- 22:30Speaker 4: I'm all right, listen, I'll con see. This Knicks championship
- 22:38Speaker 4: met more to Tailor than it did to me.
- 22:42Speaker 10: He didn't sit through any of the pain I did.
- 22:44Speaker 10: He wasn't there wasn't even alive when John Starks. He
- 22:47Speaker 10: wasn't alive when the Knicks were up three to one,
- 22:49Speaker 10: headed three to two, headed back to Houston. And lost
- 22:52Speaker 10: Game six and Game seven. You weren't there for that.
- 22:55Speaker 10: I was alive bad years. I was alive. I just
- 22:58Speaker 10: wasn't able to fully pro because I.
- 23:01Speaker 1: Was one year old.
- 23:01Speaker 4: But the next I mean I was one years old
- 23:03Speaker 4: with the next one title seventy three. I don't sit
- 23:06Speaker 4: around saying I was here for nineteen seventy three.
- 23:08Speaker 1: I wasn't.
- 23:08Speaker 4: I mean, I was negative one with the the Jets
- 23:11Speaker 4: one an NFL championship.
- 23:15Speaker 5: I thought you were like seven when that happened.
- 23:17Speaker 1: I was negative three. No, we weren't seven. I don't
- 23:23Speaker 1: know why. I think Mikey's the same age as what's
- 23:25Speaker 1: going on with Bill Simmons.
- 23:28Speaker 6: So Bill Simmons on his podcast, he did not do
- 23:32Speaker 6: this with any aale intentions. He opened it up to
- 23:36Speaker 6: the mailbags. You could write in questions to Bill Simmons. Yeah,
- 23:39Speaker 6: somebody asked Bill Simmons a question I was listening to,
- 23:42Speaker 6: and I was like, why does this question sound so familiar?
- 23:45Speaker 6: So Mikey played the sound.
- 23:48Speaker 8: James who says love the pod, Thanks James.
- 23:50Speaker 9: With Brentson winning a title on NYC, my friends and
- 23:53Speaker 9: I New York dantivs have been debating who is the
- 23:55Speaker 9: top dog of the city. The debate falls largely and
- 23:59Speaker 9: Jeter versus. While Fraser edgton Stone, I introduced the backroom theory. Essentially,
- 24:05Speaker 9: Jeter and Brunson walk into a restaurant at the same time.
- 24:07Speaker 8: Who does the owner give the back room?
- 24:09Speaker 1: Two?
- 24:10Speaker 9: This is just a great way of framing Brunson versus Jeter.
- 24:13Speaker 9: And I'm gonna throw Aaron Judge in there too. Let's
- 24:15Speaker 9: say Aaron Judge is there too, and all of them
- 24:19Speaker 9: there's one back room for ten ten seats.
- 24:22Speaker 8: Who gets it? I think Brunson gets it now.
- 24:25Speaker 4: No, no, no, no, Bill, thanks for listening. We appreciate it, really,
- 24:29Speaker 4: but no, nope, nope.
- 24:31Speaker 1: We love you. Bill Simmons.
- 24:32Speaker 4: Read all your columns, big fan, been on your pod,
- 24:35Speaker 4: You've been on this pod. We were friends at one point.
- 24:38Speaker 4: I don't know what happened, Okay, but no, absolutely not.
- 24:43Speaker 1: That is a.
- 24:43Speaker 4: Stolen idea, intentionally stolen by Bill Sibbons.
- 24:46Speaker 1: I don't care what he says. I don't care how
- 24:49Speaker 1: angry he gets at me.
- 24:50Speaker 4: There was no way Bill Simmons came up with that
- 24:53Speaker 4: willy nilly off the top of his head, and all
- 24:56Speaker 4: he did was take our reservation and turn it into
- 24:58Speaker 4: a back room.
- 24:59Speaker 1: Get the hell out here, Simmons enough.
- 25:02Speaker 5: As the person who planted the seed that eventually grew
- 25:06Speaker 5: into the mighty oak that is one table. Do I
- 25:10Speaker 5: get any royalties from the Bill Simmons podcast for the
- 25:13Speaker 5: fact that he's now doing back rooms as opposed to
- 25:16Speaker 5: one tables?
- 25:18Speaker 1: No, I mean, and listen, that's the trick of the trade.
- 25:20Speaker 4: I'm telling you someone who has stolen many, many, many
- 25:23Speaker 4: segments from Bill Simmons and others. All you have to
- 25:25Speaker 4: do is put a little twist on it. It goes
- 25:27Speaker 4: from one table to a back room, and you make
- 25:29Speaker 4: it seem like a youers. I get it, been there,
- 25:31Speaker 4: done it, But no, because I've done it. I have
- 25:34Speaker 4: the experience, and I know what it takes, and I
- 25:37Speaker 4: know what it sounds like.
- 25:38Speaker 1: That's a stolen idea from Bill Simmons.
- 25:41Speaker 6: So I love how much Bill Simmons sounded like he
- 25:45Speaker 6: liked this idea.
- 25:45Speaker 4: Stu.
- 25:46Speaker 6: I think as the olive branch, Bill Simmons has to
- 25:49Speaker 6: come on studiachtson company and he has to play one table.
- 25:51Speaker 6: Then then I think will bury the hatchet.
- 25:53Speaker 4: All right, So Bill, this is an invitation. I've tried
- 25:56Speaker 4: to reach out to You know you're listening. Yes, I've
- 26:00Speaker 4: already tried to reach out to you a thousand times.
- 26:01Speaker 4: You're already listening. You might as well come on and
- 26:04Speaker 4: join the show. I mean, so, here's the deal. If
- 26:07Speaker 4: you come on and play one round of one table
- 26:10Speaker 4: with us, take about a half hour, maybe forty five minutes.
- 26:13Speaker 4: But if you do that, we will allow you to
- 26:16Speaker 4: play one room without criticism for the remainder of toime.
- 26:19Speaker 1: How about that back room?
- 26:21Speaker 6: So the table is in Boston, David or Tees walks in,
- 26:28Speaker 6: Tom Brady walks in?
- 26:30Speaker 1: Who gets the back room?
- 26:32Speaker 6: Who gets the back room?
- 26:34Speaker 1: This is a good way to do it.
- 26:35Speaker 4: You know, they walk in, You have a host, he's
- 26:37Speaker 4: standing there. There's only one room left. It's a back room.
- 26:40Speaker 4: It's a room for ten people. Each of them walk
- 26:42Speaker 4: in with ten people, ten family members. Who gets the room?
- 26:45Speaker 4: Is that what you're asking?
- 26:47Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 26:47Speaker 6: Yeah, So who is it in Boston? David or Tees
- 26:52Speaker 6: walks in? Tom Brady walk tom Brady really even though
- 26:56Speaker 6: he left for Tampa Bay.
- 26:57Speaker 5: Yeah, I would have said it was tom Brady. Tom
- 27:00Speaker 5: Brady had but tom Brady's kind of been burning some
- 27:03Speaker 5: Boston bridges and I think David Ortiz has done nothing
- 27:07Speaker 5: but ingratiate himself into that Boston. I'm gonna go. I'm
- 27:12Speaker 5: gonna go David Ortiz poppy.
- 27:13Speaker 4: Right, But does the host of the restaurant care about
- 27:15Speaker 4: the bridges that Brady has burned?
- 27:17Speaker 1: He only cares about the six Super Bowls? Right, I mean,
- 27:19Speaker 1: that's it Bear.
- 27:22Speaker 5: Yeah, But David Ortiz broke the curse.
- 27:25Speaker 1: Yeah, well that's true.
- 27:26Speaker 5: Yes, beating the Yankees on the way.
- 27:32Speaker 1: But six super Bowls, Mikey six?
- 27:36Speaker 4: All right, So I'm saying, Brady, Mikey, say, Ortiz, are
- 27:39Speaker 4: you breaking the tie?
- 27:40Speaker 1: Taylor? Who gets the back room?
- 27:43Speaker 6: I think because of the factor that he left for
- 27:45Speaker 6: Tampa Bay and made such like Mikey said, it did
- 27:49Speaker 6: feel like he burnt some bridges to a certain extent
- 27:52Speaker 6: where this past Super Bowl he didn't even come out
- 27:54Speaker 6: and say he was rooting for Drake May and the
- 27:56Speaker 6: Patriots because we think he didn't want to see Drake
- 27:59Speaker 6: May start to, you know, reach reach some of that
- 28:01Speaker 6: legacy that Brady had. I think it's or Teas all right.
- 28:06Speaker 4: I mean, you guys have voted me, it's Ortez. I
- 28:08Speaker 4: love this game. What a great idea by Simmons. Yeah,
- 28:11Speaker 4: how about that back room?
- 28:13Speaker 6: So when I was listening to the podcast, I believe
- 28:15Speaker 6: it's Joe House who was on the podcast with him.
- 28:17Speaker 6: I would have to double check that. Joe House said,
- 28:20Speaker 6: if it's a back room, why doesn't Aaron Judge, Jalen
- 28:23Speaker 6: Brunson and Derek Jeter all look at each other and say,
- 28:26Speaker 6: let's just share the table. And I was listening to, like, what,
- 28:29Speaker 6: you can't share the table?
- 28:31Speaker 5: Now, you don't share the table.
- 28:32Speaker 4: That's why we did one table right, exactly round table,
- 28:36Speaker 4: but because he didn't want to steal it, he expanded
- 28:38Speaker 4: it out to one room.
- 28:39Speaker 1: Right.
- 28:39Speaker 6: It's much easier to share a back room than it
- 28:41Speaker 6: is to share one table.
- 28:43Speaker 4: Of course, if they walked in together Brady noor Tez,
- 28:46Speaker 4: they'd be like, hey, there's one room left, let's just
- 28:48Speaker 4: hang out together. Yes, but one table's different. There's intimacy
- 28:53Speaker 4: involved that you don't have in a back room. You know,
- 28:56Speaker 4: you could stand in a room and not talk to
- 28:58Speaker 4: some of the people you don't want to talk to
- 29:00Speaker 4: you was it the Lincolns and the Tafts that Mad
- 29:02Speaker 4: Dog was telling us about when you're sitting, when you're
- 29:05Speaker 4: forced to talk to them. Right, Missus Taft didn't like
- 29:07Speaker 4: Missus Lincoln. She didn't like it, I think, right, Grant,
- 29:10Speaker 4: not Taft. It was the grants, right, So the Grants
- 29:13Speaker 4: are sitting with the Lincoln and they're forced to talk
- 29:16Speaker 4: to one another because it gets uncomfortable. But in the
- 29:19Speaker 4: back room, I mean, you can go the entire night
- 29:23Speaker 4: without talking to Missus Lincoln.
- 29:25Speaker 1: How about that. I mean, it's a great game.
- 29:28Speaker 5: Really, it's just a fantastic game.
- 29:30Speaker 1: It's ours.
