- 0:00Yeah, I mean you know I think it's it's not a secret.
- 0:02I definitely struggled out to play last year.
- 0:04So you know that's that's been my main focus that and trying to
- 0:08gain some weight. You know being around the guys
- 0:10last year in the clubhouse, you know, I saw kind of a difference
- 0:12you know, you know you got Goldie 230 lbs, solid muscle.
- 0:17Not also you know I feel felt like I needed to catch up a
- 0:19little bit. But yeah for sure been working
- 0:22on the mechanics of hitting trying to trying to get my swing
- 0:24right, trying to get better. I'm trying to get stronger.
- 0:26You know, I want, I want some power.
- 0:29Memphis, you know, it worked out, got some, got some juice
- 0:32there. And then when I got called up,
- 0:33kind of just lacked it, you know, lacked contact like the
- 0:36like the power. So those those are the big
- 0:38biggest things I'm working on. Jason, we talked to MO yesterday
- 0:41and he was pretty candid in saying that he's going to
- 0:44present you with every opportunity to be the Opening
- 0:46Day shortstop for you this spring.
- 0:48What do you feel like you need to execute and be successful and
- 0:51to give yourself the best chance that happening?
- 0:53Yeah, I mean I just, I'm just going to go out there and
- 0:55compete, you know, you know, I don't want to go into spring
- 0:57training. You know, I'm going to go into
- 0:59it with the same mindset as last year.
- 1:01You know, I got some opportunities last year and I
- 1:03made the most of them. So I'm going to go in there and
- 1:05you know, not thinking it's my spot.
- 1:06I'm going to go up there thinking, you know, I need to
- 1:08earn, earn a spot. And you know, that's my mindset.
- 1:10The whole, whole spring, whole year, you know, the whole year I
- 1:13want to work and I want to work to be there and belong there.
- 1:16If you kind of go through the system, when you hear guys talk
- 1:18about the jump from a moment to the next to get to the big
- 1:21leagues, what's the difference between hearing about it and
- 1:23preparing for it and then living it?
- 1:25And what do you learn about that experience of living that gap
- 1:27between AAA and the majors and adjusting?
- 1:29To it, Yeah. I mean, so you always hear about
- 1:31it, you know, every level. There's differences for sure.
- 1:34You know, I thought the biggest jump was from high to AA, AA to
- 1:38AAA was wasn't too bad. But you know going from going
- 1:41from trips to majors was a complete shift because you go
- 1:44from you know playing some younger guys in the lower levels
- 1:47with a few years of experience. AAA, you got you know guys with
- 1:51maybe a couple years and you go up there and you know I'm
- 1:54playing next to Goldie and Nado, those guys both have 10 plus
- 1:56years. So it's like it completely
- 1:58changes the maturity of the game, the pace of play.
- 2:02But I mean the difference, I think everybody just told me
- 2:06that the game would speed up and I think it did a little bit at
- 2:09first. But I mean with the with the
- 2:12preparation that our org has given me throughout the system,
- 2:14I think, I I think I handed it pretty well as far as the
- 2:16pressure and everything and obviously didn't perform the way
- 2:19I wanted to. But no, I wasn't too bad, I
- 2:21didn't think. You learned things about
- 2:22yourself and that and how you react to it and how you respond
- 2:25to it. Like what?
- 2:25What do you learn from yourself? About of course.
- 2:27I mean you know I'm a I'm no stranger to struggle.
- 2:30I've struggled pretty much every level I've gone to whenever you
- 2:33know I've first gotten up there struggled for a little bit and
- 2:35then you know worked it out. So definitely learned.
- 2:39You know, I can, I can take a little bit of failure you know,
- 2:41I definitely don't want to. I'd much rather, you know, hit
- 2:44350 like everybody else. But you know, it's a game of
- 2:48failure. So you know, I'm starting to
- 2:50learn how to, you know, mentally accept that, you know, still
- 2:53still a young kid, it feels like, but you know, I'm trying
- 2:55to trying to mature myself a little bit quicker to be around
- 2:58these guys. How valuable?
- 2:59For your How valuable for your development was it to get the
- 3:02get your feet wet a little bit at the end of the season so that
- 3:04now you you come into spring and you you've had that behind you
- 3:07already to to be able to move forward with?
- 3:09Oh, it's amazing. I mean, the thought of me
- 3:11showing up this year and you know, having to maybe go through
- 3:14that this first month and you know it, it's a shame that we
- 3:18had a kind of a bad season last year.
- 3:19But you know, I'm glad I got my opportunity towards the end of
- 3:22it. You know, whenever, you know,
- 3:23wins didn't matter as much. But no, I'm, I'm super glad I
- 3:27got to go through that, you know, got to be around some of
- 3:29the guys want to play with this year.
- 3:30So super excited. You know, I think it's going to
- 3:32really help me, having that experience at the end of last
- 3:34year when you described the offensive struggles at the end
- 3:37of last season, was it you getting away from the swing that
- 3:40works for you in the majors or was it the approach in the
- 3:43major? League pitchers is going to
- 3:45force you to change I. Think it's a little bit of both.
- 3:48I mean, I definitely got pitched a lot different than I was in
- 3:51Memphis. You know, going back and looking
- 3:53at video or some film, I think I can.
- 3:56I definitely see my swing changed a couple times, I think.
- 3:59But I think that's just me, you know, being young and wanting
- 4:03to, you know, maybe go on over 10 or so and thinking that's the
- 4:06end of the world, trying to change something up right away.
- 4:08So I think the biggest thing for me was just trying to rush it,
- 4:11you know, trying to change too much too quick.
- 4:13I think a big change was was going to happen like like this
- 4:16offseason. I think that's that's a good
- 4:19time for a change. Maybe little tweaks during the
- 4:20season, but I was trying to change too much I think.
- 4:24Nice with the and strength, are you seeing better bat speed?
- 4:27Are you seeing balls go further or are you and looking at your
- 4:32swing what it looks like with more more strength?
- 4:35Definitely, definitely. Balls feels like it's it's
- 4:38coming off a little harder. We def.
- 4:40We don't have, you know, the technology that we have here, so
- 4:44it's a little, little difficult to look at numbers.
- 4:45But you know, weight's gone up, swing's feeling nice, ball's
- 4:49coming off nice, so just everything feels good.
- 4:52Bad Bats feel a little bit lighter.
- 4:53So yeah, watching is there. A certain element of your game
- 4:57when you're I think about what you did in the offseason, that
- 5:00you're excited to show off in spring and that you feel like
- 5:02you've made strides in. I mean really just hitting.
- 5:05I mean I think defensively I performed pretty well up until,
- 5:08you know, I had a one pretty bad game last year.
- 5:10But I think defensively I'm just going to try to, you know,
- 5:13obviously trying to get better every day.
- 5:15But my main focus has been really just hitting.
- 5:18I want to, I want to show up and and show the guys I can compete.
- 5:20Maybe one change. Did you make like?
- 5:23What are some of? The specific things that you
- 5:25went to work, Yeah, I mean really just hip hinge and stuff.
- 5:28I mean last year I was, I was jumping out of my jumping out of
- 5:31my legs real quick, jumping out the ball, really just trying to
- 5:34take the same swing path every, every single time.
- 5:37I feel like last year you know I might not have set my plant foot
- 5:40in the same spot every time or might have been leaning over my
- 5:43front hip. So really just trying to be
- 5:45consistent with the swing, every single swing.
- 5:47You see guys like Goldie and and their intent to their work in
- 5:50the cages and whether it be T work front toss, whatever it may
- 5:53be. They do the same thing every
- 5:55single time, set up the exact same way.
- 5:57So for me it's been that, just trying to be consistent.
- 6:01Like I said, the hip hinge stuff.
- 6:02For me, trying to get into my legs more, I feel like that, you
- 6:05know, might cause a little bit more power.
- 6:08I had a pretty big scissor kick last year.
- 6:09I have the past couple years and that's really unintentional, but
- 6:14I've been trying to cut back on that.
- 6:15I feel like that might Get Me Out of position sometimes and I
- 6:18think it helps me sometimes, but I think for the most part, you
- 6:21know, just having a more standard swim would be would be
- 6:23better. I remember last year sitting
- 6:25here not kind of knowing what happened during the season.
- 6:28How are you different today than you were?
- 6:31A year ago what you've gone through shoot, man.
- 6:34I mean, last year was great for me.
- 6:36Being around being around the AAA guys for, you know, 3-4
- 6:39months, five months and then getting caught up with the older
- 6:42guys. I think there's some maturity
- 6:43level. It's a lot different.
- 6:44I think, you know, only being a AA last year, being around those
- 6:48guys, we got great guys at every level.
- 6:50But just like I said, the maturity level at each level
- 6:52gets bigger and better. You know, I had a great talks
- 6:55last year, great, great conversations with a lot of
- 6:58people, you know, in fact, Goldie, we sat down for about
- 7:01two hours and Milwaukee had brunch and just talked.
- 7:05So that was good. But yeah, I'm just ready, Mason.
- 7:08Do you feel like those last couple of weeks in the majors,
- 7:12did that really direct the changes that you're trying to
- 7:14make this offseason because you had good numbers, but at least,
- 7:17you know, it seemed like you performed on AAA the time the
- 7:20majors really sort of set the path for what you're doing so.
- 7:23100%, I mean, you know, I showed up, did not hit very well, but I
- 7:28think the last 2-3 weeks or so, I mean worked with Turner Ward
- 7:31and then ran Allen and we just got to work on what I wanted to
- 7:34work on this offseason. You know, got some, got some
- 7:37advice from them as far as you know what I what tweaks I needed
- 7:40to make and what what changes they think needed to be made.
- 7:43We started working on that at the end of the year and then,
- 7:45you know, I just took it into my offseason trying to trying to
- 7:47get to where I'm at right now as you.
- 7:49Said last year that over the course of the long season, you
- 7:52lose weight. You wanted to start at a better
- 7:54weight. How much weight have you put on?
- 7:56How much have you eaten the 4000 calories a day or anything?
- 8:00Like that? No, definitely.
- 8:01Definitely no diet plan for me. I'm just, I'm just trying to eat
- 8:04as much as I can. I I think I got down in the
- 8:09160's last year so I want to I want to if I drop this year I
- 8:13want to drop to 180. You know I usually drop 10 to 15
- 8:16lbs. I don't really know what what
- 8:18that may be. I usually don't lose muscle it's
- 8:20usually a lot of fat. But I think me showing up this
- 8:25year I'm, I want to be around 195 if I can, you know I need to
- 8:28put on few more pounds but I think that would be really good
- 8:30for me if, you know, if I lose weight and I drop to 18185, I'll
- 8:34still have that strength and I think I'll it'll help me carry
- 8:37through 162 games season. The the footwork and load stuff
- 8:41you were talking about, Can you do that dry or like in a mirror,
- 8:44do you have to feel that through the ball?
- 8:45Like, are you a guy who needs to get all the way through your
- 8:47swing to feel that kind of launching the way you wanted to?
- 8:51Or can you like just repeat it and over and over and then kind
- 8:53of train that once you get the more wide swing?
- 8:56Stuff. I mean, obviously I'd much
- 8:57rather have, you know, live action and and be swinging, you
- 8:59know, bats a ball. But I mean, I can look in the
- 9:02mirror and and tell myself whether or not, you know,
- 9:04whether I might be leaning forward, leaning back, you know
- 9:06all my tippy toes. So not for sure.
- 9:08I can just look at a mirror and and pretty much get it.
- 9:11Is that a thing where like on video you can watch?
- 9:13Like can you watch yourself load on video and know this was a
- 9:15good swing versus a bad swing before you guys see yourself go
- 9:18through? I don't know like where do you
- 9:19where? I guess where in your swing path
- 9:21do you see it not being where you'd want to be?
- 9:24Pretty much immediately last year whenever I would lift my my
- 9:27left leg, you know, for my leg kick, I would really just jump
- 9:29out. So immediately you can kind of
- 9:31see a shift going this way rather than a hinge going
- 9:34twisting this way while this leg's moving forward.
- 9:36So I think if you have a, the best angle would be a front
- 9:40camera seeing me from, you know, this way.
- 9:44But yeah, I think pretty much immediately I can tell if it's
- 9:46going to be a good or bad swing. How much of that was this?
- 9:48Trend Maybe force the. Production or or thinking they
- 9:52had to be that far ahead or jumping out of sometimes.
- 9:55An anxious moment. I think it was a fear of
- 9:58striking out. You know, me not being the
- 10:01biggest guy in the world, you know, I want to get on base, you
- 10:03know, as much as Tommy Edmund or Lars Newmar new bar might.
- 10:07So for me, I think it was just, you know, I don't want to strike
- 10:12out. I want to show these guys I can
- 10:13compete. And I think that was causing me
- 10:14to swing at some some pitches I shouldn't have been swinging at,
- 10:17trying to battle early, you know, not to strike count,
- 10:19swinging at, swinging at pitches I didn't need to swing at.
- 10:22So much did you and Jordan kind of reflect on you kind of both
- 10:26kind of went through this experience together, and how
- 10:28much have you tried to motivate each other this offseason?
- 10:30I know the way you guys text each other and trash talk to
- 10:33each other. How much have you?
- 10:36Oh, every day. I mean, we go back and forth
- 10:38whether, you know, it might be video games or, you know, weight
- 10:40gain. You know, he told me he gained a
- 10:42whole bunch of weight. So that that pushed me, you
- 10:44know, to gain even more. So I was excited about myself
- 10:47and then he let me down a little bit.
- 10:49You know, I gained. I'm 260 now, come on, bro.
- 10:52But Nah, I mean, we, we talk a lot.
- 10:55I mean that's my guy. You know obviously he had a
- 10:58great year last year, especially rookie season.
- 11:01But I mean, yeah, he's working every day.
- 11:03You know, he's working defensively, obviously I said
- 11:06he's gained some weight, so I'm sure he'll come back hitting
- 11:08bombs. But yeah, I mean we're just,
- 11:10we're super excited definitely talking about last year.
- 11:13I mean he obviously knows how bad I struggled and you know
- 11:16what we went through. But it's.
- 11:18I think it'll be a lot of fun this year where have.
- 11:20You been working out, are you in Texas or are you down in
- 11:22Florida? Where have you been spending
- 11:23your? Offseason.
- 11:24I'm down where it's warm. I'm in Houston, for sure.
- 11:26Go to Texans, by the way. Jason, how much do you see that
- 11:30you're you're stolen base ability being a a vital part of
- 11:33your game at the big league level.
- 11:35Obviously the miners, you've done that and how much do you
- 11:37believe that that can still be a a factor for you in the bigs?
- 11:40Oh, for sure. I mean, I didn't run too much
- 11:42last year. I didn't, you know, I didn't get
- 11:44on base a lot, so I didn't get too many opportunities.
- 11:46But now, I mean, you see guys like Tommy taking, you know, a
- 11:50bag and then Goldie hits a broken bat single and he ends up
- 11:54scoring on it. I mean, that's that's a big
- 11:55deal. You know, each run counts.
- 11:57So no, I think it'll be huge for me.
- 11:59I mean, being a speed guy, I need to, I need to get, you
- 12:01know, at least 20-30 bags a year.
- 12:03So I think for me that'll be just every year thing.
- 12:06I mean, not, not too worried about it.
- 12:09Speed for me is the least of my concerns.
- 12:11I think So, yeah. I mean that's that'll just come.
- 12:14Does that mindset kind of coincide with you saying I want
- 12:17to be a guy that gets on base and he gets a second base with
- 12:20the stolen base, that that's another way to kind of produce
- 12:22power in a way or or get yourself in the sporting
- 12:24position? 100% I mean it also helps the
- 12:26guys around me, helps the team. You know it's it's exciting.
- 12:29You know I feel like when Ricky Henderson was running around
- 12:32everywhere, everybody was having a good time watching him run and
- 12:35you know whether he was out or safe he was putting his team you
- 12:37know for the most part in a in a in a great spot.
- 12:39So for me, you know, whether it be you know eight spot, nine
- 12:43spot, if I get on base and get to 2nd with Tommy Edmond or Lars
- 12:46Newbar coming up, you know, I like our chances.
- 12:48So I think it does help the team a lot.
- 12:51You know turning a single into a double is is a big deal.
- 12:54You know if if Jordan hits a single he might not get to, you
- 12:58know, he might not get that steal.
- 12:59But for me it's it's a little different.
- 13:01So when? It comes to the defensive side.
- 13:04What do you feel like you made some strides?
- 13:07In last year, I think just the consistency, I mean, every year
- 13:10I've gotten a little bit more consistent.
- 13:12You know working with Cheo at the beginning of the year every
- 13:14year has always gotten me right. I think throughout the years
- 13:19it's just gotten better. Then when I got up stubby clap,
- 13:22I worked with him and he's a lefty and I don't know if y'all
- 13:26have ever taken fungo, but taking fungo from stubby,
- 13:29hitting lefty backspin, hitting sliders at you, I mean taking
- 13:33grounder from him really prepares you for the game.
- 13:36It feels. I mean it's probably harder than
- 13:38the game actually is. So I think just working with
- 13:42with those two guys has has got me ready.
- 13:44I mean every year I've I've I feel like I've gotten better and
- 13:47you know I want to get better every year.
- 13:52I I mean shoot I I expect to see Jordan Walker thanks.
- 13:55I mean I've I've seen him play for 3-4 years now.
- 13:58I mean he's only gotten only gotten bigger and better every
- 14:01year. You know obviously went out last
- 14:03year, 2021 years old and competed almost a full year, you
- 14:07know got called down a little bit which is very difficult I
- 14:09feel like on a on a 20 year old and gets called back up and then
- 14:13just competes the rest of the year.
- 14:14So I think he's going to show up this year and you know handle
- 14:17business. He doesn't hear a lot of outside
- 14:20noise. So you know the media doesn't
- 14:22really affect him or you know comments don't really affect
- 14:24him. He's really just going to go out
- 14:26there and, you know, play for his family, play for his
- 14:27brothers and yeah, I think he'll have a great year again if.
- 14:31His confidence, Kind of. Rubs off on oh, I mean if he's
- 14:35going, I feel like I'm going a little bit.
- 14:37You know whenever he hits a double, I feel like part of me
- 14:39hit a double. So and I know he feels the same
- 14:41way. So yeah, I mean when we're, when
- 14:43we're rolling together it's it's a lot of fun.
- 14:45Speaking of your confidence, this is a critical start of the
- 14:48year 2024 coming off of. A disappointing 2020.
- 14:51Three season, the team is going to rely on you as the starting
- 14:53shortstop. How much confidence is that
- 14:55instilling you, knowing that the team under all this pressure has
- 14:58this confidence in you? Yeah, I mean, you know,
- 15:01throughout the whole minor league system, they've always,
- 15:03you know, always trusted in me, always believed in me, you know,
- 15:06gave me the most support I could ever imagine.
- 15:09But yeah, I mean, it feels great.
- 15:10I mean last year getting that, getting the call up and then
- 15:13obviously struggling and then them still putting me in every
- 15:15day and and getting that work and getting that experience, it
- 15:18feels great, you know, I mean it makes me really want to be here
- 15:21for a long time, you know when a when championships here for a
- 15:24long time. Mason obviously respect a lot of
- 15:26your teammates from growing up in the in the system, but is
- 15:29there a certain player you're looking forward to seeing make
- 15:31that jump this year, whether it's AAA and the Pigs or single
- 15:35A and AAA? Whatever it is.
- 15:37I got two guys. I'll say.
- 15:39One of ours just got added to the 40 man.
- 15:41Pedro Paias, he's a catcher. I don't know how he gets up this
- 15:45year, but I mean, he just great. Got to be around everybody that
- 15:50I've ever met. Loves him, but yeah, just a
- 15:53great person. And then tin cans, he's one of
- 15:55my Emma Jordan, probably my best friends in the world.
- 15:59Tink called me last night talking about how how much fun
- 16:01he's having. You can't wait for the season.
- 16:03So for me, it'd probably be Tink.
- 16:05I mean, I know how unbelievably he is.
- 16:06And I I can't wait for a lot of, a lot of other people to see
- 16:09that in person. And, you know, I get to see that
- 16:11at Bush. Wait, so.
- 16:14With the Tink, I mean, how much have you been able to just keep
- 16:16up with what his stuff looks like and how he developed, how
- 16:18he's developed? Has he gotten more innings?
- 16:20I'm not going to be pretty limited in the first couple of.
- 16:22Years, Yeah. I mean so last year when he
- 16:24started at High A, that was obviously we had been together
- 16:28all spring training and you know you started there.
- 16:30We were both pretty disappointed and we thought I personally, I
- 16:32thought he was going to start a little bit higher.
- 16:34But Nah, I mean seeing checking in with him every every week,
- 16:38you know, seeing how he starts going, seeing how he's throwing,
- 16:41how he's feeling. He had a little bit of a an
- 16:43injury last year with like I think a chest injury, but you
- 16:46know, came back doing his thing and I think the biggest thing
- 16:50for him is just staying healthy. I mean he's everybody knows how
- 16:53good he is. So I think for the him it's just
- 16:56being consistent, staying healthy.
- 16:57You see guys like Garrett Cole throwing 250 innings.
- 16:59So it's, you know, if Tink can do that, you know and and really
- 17:03that'd be, it'd be really big for us, Victor.
- 17:06How well do you know Victor Scott?
- 17:07He's talked about he wants to model himself after what you and
- 17:10Jordan did. You know he he's watched you
- 17:12guys and and looked up to you kind of have you been able to
- 17:15talk to him or do you know him well little?
- 17:17Yeah, for sure. Last year we got, we got pretty
- 17:19close in spring training, you know, he out there in the
- 17:22outfield, so I didn't get to see him too much.
- 17:24But you know, talking to him during BP or whatnot, he's a
- 17:28very interesting cat. I mean he's he's, he's different
- 17:31for sure, but super exciting. I mean watching that dude run,
- 17:34watching that dude make plays, I mean it's for me, watching the
- 17:37highlights is one of the best parts.
- 17:38You know, it's seeing him rob a rob a home run, jumping 13 feet
- 17:42in the air, it's like it's different.
- 17:44So seeing, I'd like to see that for sure in person, I haven't
- 17:47got to see it too much. But yeah, I can't wait to play
- 17:49with that guy. When you say a different cat, is
- 17:51there something in particular that comes to mind When you
- 17:53think about just going, you know what you interaction you've had
- 17:56with him and looks a little different.
- 17:57It seems a little different. I would say, I would say pretty
- 18:00much all baseball players are different cats.
- 18:02But I mean you know you got guys like NATO man.
- 18:05NATO's different. NATO's going to he's an animal
- 18:08he's going to go out there and he's going to compete.
- 18:10He's going to he's not going to smile he's going to go out there
- 18:12and and he's a killer and I think I think big Scott's
- 18:15probably the same way. You know, the the few
- 18:17conversations I've had with him, he and what I've heard about him
- 18:20is he seems just like a dog to me.
- 18:22He seems like he wants to go out there and you know, he wants to
- 18:24beat everybody. Amazing.
- 18:26There was a lot of. Talk last year or maybe before.
- 18:29About your arm speed and being able to grow, really.
- 18:31Quickly over the first base, how much of that?
- 18:33Is still within the. Work that you're.
- 18:34Doing this offseason. Or comparing the first rate with
- 18:38that, I mean the arm to be honest.
- 18:39That's that might be the one thing I don't, I don't worry
- 18:41about For me, I used to try to throw as hard as I could every
- 18:47single time. Now I'm just trying to hit
- 18:49Goldie in the chest. So I think it's it's a big part
- 18:52of my game for sure one of the biggest if if not the biggest.
- 18:55But I think I think that's just you know it's something that's
- 18:59always in the back pocket rather than you know what's what's on
- 19:02the what's on the surface. Jason.
- 19:04Did they? Did they express to you?
- 19:06Their wishes to have you be starting shortstop or was it the
- 19:09actions that they had keeping you in the line and kind of
- 19:15well, I mean to be quite frank I have no idea what what's going
- 19:18to happen going into this season.
- 19:19But the confidence level I have, I know, I know they they
- 19:22believed in me last year. I know you know they still
- 19:24believe in me every day. So for me, I just want to go out
- 19:28there and compete compete for a spot.
- 19:29You know, I I've never been the type to be, you know I've I've
- 19:33never felt entitled for anything.
- 19:34So you know I don't I don't want to be given a spot.
- 19:36I want to. I want to go out there and earn
- 19:37it. Thoughts.
- 19:39On thoughts on CJ Strata? That's the guy, man.
- 19:42That's he used to a man, a saving.
- 19:45The Texans organization right there have.
- 19:47You ever gotten to? Meet him.
- 19:48No, I have not. I wish he was.
- 19:50I know he went to Ohio State so you know I'm not it's that's
- 19:53that's N brother that's cold up there.
- 19:57No, I mean he's been a lot of fun.
- 19:58Great for the city. I mean obviously very humble
- 20:01kid. I mean young guy.
- 20:02So yeah, future's looking bright for sure.
- 20:08Major League club that drives you.
- 20:10Something that you think back to that that makes you want to push
- 20:13even harder than. All season I mean Buenos 200 was
- 20:16was by far my favorite game of the year.
- 20:18I mean I'm I'm putting that over my debut.
- 20:19I would say just the atmosphere. I mean every pitch the fans were
- 20:25going crazy. It felt like a playoff
- 20:26atmosphere and you know, obviously I've never been to the
- 20:28playoffs so getting the feel of that was was pretty special to
- 20:32me and it's it makes me want to, you know, it makes me want to
- 20:34get there and and compete for a real series to see how this, how
- 20:37this stadium would get. What'd you do with the ball that
- 20:39ended up in the curl with your first hit?
- 20:41What'd you do end up doing? With it, put it in the case and
- 20:44then gave it to Mama for sure. I got the Homer.
- 20:46She got the first hit, though. Hey.
- 20:48Mason, when you saw the Otani contracts, did you did?
- 20:51Was there a flicker in your mind about man, maybe.
- 20:53Yeah, I should still try to pitch.
- 20:56Man that was it's funny that was that was kind of what what was
- 20:59the talk out of the draft was just kind of watching show hey
- 21:02and you know maybe comparing myself to him.
- 21:04Comparing yourself to show hey Otani is not very smart.
- 21:07I mean that dude one of the best pitchers and one of the best
- 21:10hitters in the league that's he's one of one man.
- 21:13That's yeah, that contract was was insane for sure you think.
- 21:16It's going to lead to more guys trying to do both.
- 21:18I mean, you can speak to how hard it is.
- 21:21To try to do both. Yeah, I was.
- 21:22I think guys are going to try. I don't.
- 21:24I don't know if guys are going to be able to.
- 21:26I mean, you'd have to. You look at his bill, He's, you
- 21:28know, 65. He's a big dude hitting bombs at
- 21:30the DH spot. You know, for a guy like me, I
- 21:34think one of my biggest assets is the defense.
- 21:36So, you know, I can't. I'm not about to be.
- 21:38ADHI could go to the outfield, but probably a little tough on
- 21:42the arm. Not a first baseman.
- 21:44So you know, it would have to be a special mix.
- 21:46I think it'd have to be another just big donkey, maybe a Luke
- 21:49and Baker type guy who can play first and and throw 97.
- 21:53So are you. Leaning on Ollie to be the guy
- 21:55who gets to come in and pitch if they have to go position player
- 21:57in the game. Me.
- 22:00No, I'll never pitch. They'll never let me, Yeah.
- 22:03No, I've had that conversation multiple times.
- 22:06My leagues, majors. But it would have to be, it
- 22:09would have to be something crazy and I would have to probably
- 22:12throw with my left hand.
