- 1:39Speaker 1: is already released featuring Teddy Swims. We talk about all
- 1:43Speaker 1: of that and a lot more. I'm a fan, and
- 1:45Speaker 1: I'm grateful to spend time today with Jesse Murph. Shout!
- 1:56Speaker 1: I'll sit and tell you my stories.
- 2:01Speaker 2: Shine on me. And I will find a song.
- 2:08Speaker 1: I've been singing since the beginning. There's kind of a
- 2:18Speaker 1: vibe in today, dude.
- 2:19Speaker 2: You're having a good hair day. What do you do
- 2:21Speaker 2: to it?
- 2:21Speaker 1: Huh?
- 2:22Speaker 2: What do you do to it? You volumize it?
- 2:24Speaker 1: I mean, does that mean not wash it as much?
- 2:27Speaker 2: No, that's not what that means.
- 2:28Speaker 1: Oh, it isn't?
- 2:28Speaker 2: You don't got some powder or something?
- 2:30Speaker 1: Oh, no, I don't put no damn powder in my hair.
- 2:32Speaker 2: You have a hair routine.
- 2:32Speaker 1: The Lord does my hair while I sleep. So when
- 2:36Speaker 1: I wake up, it's just.
- 2:36Speaker 2: That's such a dude thing.
- 2:38Speaker 1: What is?
- 2:39Speaker 2: The Lord doing your hair while you sleep.
- 2:40Speaker 1: Oh, look. It works. Yes, for some people it works. Now,
- 2:45Speaker 1: some men, they wake up and it's just not the,
- 2:47Speaker 1: you know, I think it's the Lord missed them or
- 2:50Speaker 1: he left them too long in the.
- 2:51Speaker 3: I think so.
- 2:52Speaker 1: And what's that thing that they put on women? Did
- 2:54Speaker 1: you ever go to the hair salon with your mom
- 2:56Speaker 1: and they would put that thing on her?
- 2:57Speaker 2: Yeah, they still do it.
- 2:58Speaker 1: Do they really?
- 2:58Speaker 2: They do that to everybody, not just mom.
- 3:00Speaker 1: Yeah, whatever that thing. My mom sometimes, like if it
- 3:03Speaker 1: was going to be like Easter or something, she would
- 3:05Speaker 1: take us. Yeah, she would take us to this nice place.
- 3:08Speaker 1: It was called the Looking Glass Salon.
- 3:10Speaker 2: Wow.
- 3:11Speaker 3: Where at?
- 3:12Speaker 1: This was in Louisiana, in Covington, Louisiana. And it was nice.
- 3:15Speaker 1: Like when you open the door, it had like a
- 3:17Speaker 1: little bell on it or whatever.
- 3:18Speaker 2: Oh, that's how you know it's a good one.
- 3:20Speaker 1: Well, you just knew that they meant business in there,
- 3:22Speaker 1: you know?
- 3:23Speaker 2: Did you go under one of those?
- 3:25Speaker 1: Sometimes I would sneak in while my mom's hair was
- 3:27Speaker 1: under it and I'd put my hands in there.
- 3:29Speaker 2: It feels nice, no?
- 3:29Speaker 1: Yeah. And I thought it felt pretty cool and it
- 3:32Speaker 1: just made me feel like I'm going to be somebody someday,
- 3:35Speaker 1: you know? You should go.
- 3:37Speaker 2: You should go now, yeah. I feel like you have
- 3:38Speaker 2: long enough hair to where it'll do something.
- 3:41Speaker 1: To get it done? Yeah. Is that your hair?
- 3:43Speaker 2: Yes, all of it. Yeah.
- 3:45Speaker 1: Wow. I bet horses get jealous probably some of them.
- 3:48Speaker 2: You think so?
- 3:49Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 3:50Speaker 2: I hope so.
- 3:53Speaker 1: Jessie Murph, thanks for coming in.
- 3:55Speaker 2: Thanks for having me.
- 3:56Speaker 1: I'm excited. I'm happy that you're here. I'm a big fan.
- 3:59Speaker 1: You know that.
- 4:01Speaker 2: Yeah. Right? Yeah.
- 4:03Speaker 1: I mean, I love, like, I don't know, like, the
- 4:05Speaker 1: album names and stuff, but I went, what was the tour?
- 4:09Speaker 1: I saw you in Boston, I think it was, during Drowning, maybe?
- 4:13Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 4:14Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 4:14Speaker 2: Damn, was it?
- 4:14Speaker 1: Wow. Yeah.
- 4:15Speaker 2: Long time.
- 4:16Speaker 1: And I even bought a shirt, and I saved it
- 4:19Speaker 1: to wear if you ever came in.
- 4:20Speaker 2: You didn't wear it? What's up? And it's in Nashville.
- 4:23Speaker 2: That's fucked up, dude.
- 4:24Speaker 1: I only bought one. It's fucked up. But that's okay.
- 4:29Speaker 1: What's going on? How's your day?
- 4:30Speaker 2: My day's good. Yeah, no. It's been a good day.
- 4:33Speaker 1: It has?
- 4:33Speaker 2: Not much has happened.
- 4:34Speaker 1: Really?
- 4:34Speaker 2: How's your day going?
- 4:36Speaker 1: My day's pretty chill. What happened? We did a podcast
- 4:38Speaker 1: this morning, and yeah, I might go get a massage
- 4:42Speaker 1: after this or go to dinner.
- 4:44Speaker 2: You should.
- 4:44Speaker 1: Yeah. And yeah, that's about it really.
- 4:48Speaker 2: You get massages a lot.
- 4:49Speaker 1: I do.
- 4:49Speaker 2: They're good for the soul.
- 4:50Speaker 1: Yeah. They really are, huh? I think having somebody touch
- 4:54Speaker 1: you that's not trying to like.
- 4:55Speaker 2: That's not sus.
- 4:56Speaker 1: That's not, yeah, trying to be a pervert or whatever.
- 4:58Speaker 2: It depends on the massage you're getting.
- 5:00Speaker 1: The places I go, I tell them immediately when I
- 5:02Speaker 1: go in there, do not.
- 5:04Speaker 2: You really do that?
- 5:05Speaker 1: Oh, I tell them straight up. Seriously? Yeah, because I.
- 5:07Speaker 2: Do you feel like you have to?
- 5:09Speaker 1: I just don't. I want to, I want clear communication
- 5:13Speaker 1: between me and anybody that's touching my body. I feel like.
- 5:15Speaker 1: Because here's what happened.
- 5:17Speaker 2: Should you be doing that, though? I don't do it.
- 5:19Speaker 1: What, getting massages?
- 5:20Speaker 2: No, I don't tell them that.
- 5:21Speaker 1: Oh, you don't? You're just taking a risk?
- 5:23Speaker 2: Should I be telling them that?
- 5:25Speaker 1: I mean, I think you prefaced it like, hey, guys,
- 5:28Speaker 1: I'm just here for the massage. Especially if I was
- 5:31Speaker 1: a girl, I feel like I would. Really? Yeah.
- 5:33Speaker 2: Even if it's another girl, you think so?
- 5:35Speaker 1: These days.
- 5:35Speaker 2: You're telling them? You're telling them.
- 5:37Speaker 1: Yeah, because some of the girls are even so strong,
- 5:39Speaker 1: and you don't know. You don't know who's who. You
- 5:43Speaker 1: don't know who's who.
- 5:44Speaker 3: Fuck.
- 5:44Speaker 2: Now I'm nervous.
- 5:46Speaker 1: No, but I will tell them straight up. Because here's
- 5:48Speaker 1: what happened. One time I was in the massage. Sometimes
- 5:50Speaker 1: they have that little chair where they put your face down.
- 5:52Speaker 1: Have you seen that thing? So I was in there.
- 5:55Speaker 1: The lady's massaging me. A guy comes in. This was
- 5:58Speaker 1: at a strip mall in Tennessee. And a guy comes
- 6:02Speaker 1: in and he's talking to the woman. And he asks
- 6:05Speaker 1: her if they do happy endings or whatever.
- 6:07Speaker 2: Damn, like a client.
- 6:08Speaker 1: Yes. And I felt like, I cannot believe this guy
- 6:12Speaker 1: is asking this. And the lady's like, no, no, no.
- 6:15Speaker 2: She's doing your massage? Yes.
- 6:16Speaker 1: Okay, okay. And I was like, tell him no. I
- 6:19Speaker 1: was just like– because I don't know how experienced she
- 6:21Speaker 1: is or whatever. And then, yeah, she's like, no. And
- 6:24Speaker 1: then the guy got– I think he felt a little
- 6:26Speaker 1: embarrassed and then he left. But anyway, that's why ever
- 6:29Speaker 1: since then I go in. I say– and if we
- 6:33Speaker 1: have a language barrier, I'll even draw.
- 6:34Speaker 2: You draw? How do you draw it? What do you draw?
- 6:37Speaker 1: Well, I'll draw like– Kind of a human body.
- 6:40Speaker 2: Okay.
- 6:41Speaker 1: And then I'll draw kind of like the middle area.
- 6:44Speaker 2: How long would you say this is taking you? Like,
- 6:46Speaker 2: how long?
- 6:47Speaker 1: Well, you know, for me, it takes a little while
- 6:49Speaker 1: to draw it. And then I'll put a big X
- 6:51Speaker 1: over the middle.
- 6:52Speaker 2: That's what you do?
- 6:53Speaker 1: Yes.
- 6:54Speaker 2: I can see it.
- 6:54Speaker 1: If there's a language barrier.
- 6:56Speaker 2: That makes sense.
- 6:57Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 6:57Speaker 2: I can't judge you for that.
- 6:58Speaker 1: Thank you. Yeah, because I want them to know straight
- 7:00Speaker 1: up I'm here so that when I leave, we both
- 7:05Speaker 1: feel cool but not strange.
- 7:07Speaker 2: And that's respectful of you.
- 7:08Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 7:09Speaker 2: I get it.
- 7:10Speaker 1: That's where we are. You've like had so much success
- 7:14Speaker 1: at your age. Pretty crazy.
- 7:18Speaker 2: Crazy.
- 7:19Speaker 1: Are there moments where it's like, I wish because I
- 7:24Speaker 1: don't think people realize like a lot of people think like, oh,
- 7:27Speaker 1: I would like to have popularity. I would like to
- 7:29Speaker 1: have fame. I would like to have some celebrity, you know,
- 7:32Speaker 1: but then once that kind of comes, it's real and
- 7:35Speaker 1: you can't like put it back in the box. You know,
- 7:38Speaker 1: do you ever have moments where you're like, gosh, this
- 7:40Speaker 1: is a lot. And it's like, and it's going to
- 7:45Speaker 1: be here to stay probably, you know?
- 7:47Speaker 2: Yeah. I mean, definitely. I think it, I'm sure you
- 7:49Speaker 2: have the same. It just gets a little overwhelming sometimes. Yeah.
- 7:53Speaker 2: But yeah, I don't know. Yeah.
- 7:55Speaker 1: Cause I mean, it's kind of crazy.
- 7:56Speaker 2: No, it is crazy. Yeah. And it's so different from
- 7:59Speaker 2: how I like grew up and how everything that I
- 8:03Speaker 2: saw when I was younger is. So it's just like
- 8:04Speaker 2: a very different, it's an adjustment for sure.
- 8:07Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, a lot of people don't know you're from Huntsville, Alabama. Yeah.
- 8:11Speaker 1: Since that rocket, you have like the most trajectory out
- 8:13Speaker 1: of Huntsville.
- 8:14Speaker 2: You think so?
- 8:15Speaker 1: I think so. You know that rocket that's by the
- 8:16Speaker 1: interstate over there?
- 8:17Speaker 2: I know the rocket. Everybody knows the rocket. How do
- 8:19Speaker 2: you know about the rocket?
- 8:20Speaker 1: Look, honey, you drive through there and then people are like,
- 8:23Speaker 1: have you seen the rocket?
- 8:24Speaker 2: It's the thing.
- 8:25Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 8:26Speaker 2: Did you go?
- 8:27Speaker 1: I don't know. I think we pulled over one time.
- 8:29Speaker 2: That's the rocket.
- 8:30Speaker 1: Yeah. Huntsville's kind of a cool place. You don't realize.
- 8:35Speaker 1: I feel like it's the next Lexington kind of.
- 8:37Speaker 2: You think so?
- 8:37Speaker 1: Yeah, I think because there's a lot of odd diversity there.
- 8:41Speaker 1: It's like, I mean, I don't know. What did you
- 8:43Speaker 1: think it was like growing up? Did you feel like
- 8:45Speaker 1: it was just the sticks?
- 8:47Speaker 3: No.
- 8:47Speaker 2: Huntsville, no. I feel like that's a city.
- 8:49Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 8:49Speaker 2: But I did live in this place called Athens, Alabama,
- 8:52Speaker 2: and that was the sticks.
- 8:53Speaker 1: Yeah? Yeah.
- 8:55Speaker 2: It's like 45 outside of there.
- 8:56Speaker 1: 45 minutes outside of Huntsville? Have I been to Athens, Alabama? Yeah. No, man.
- 9:01Speaker 2: Don't go.
- 9:01Speaker 1: Yeah. What, uh, Athens is the city of the county
- 9:06Speaker 1: seat of Limestone County. That's where you're from, Limestone County?
- 9:09Speaker 2: Yeah, well, I was born in Huntsville, but I lived
- 9:11Speaker 2: here during, like, middle school and high school.
- 9:12Speaker 1: Limestone County.
- 9:13Speaker 2: So formative years.
- 9:14Speaker 1: Yeah, very formative.
- 9:15Speaker 2: You know?
- 9:16Speaker 1: Um, did you guys have, like, school dances and stuff
- 9:18Speaker 1: over there? I, yeah. Yeah?
- 9:20Speaker 2: I think so.
- 9:20Speaker 1: Did you have the one where the girl has to
- 9:22Speaker 1: ask the boy?
- 9:23Speaker 2: No. Why would you think that?
- 9:25Speaker 1: Because some schools have them, like, in the south, they
- 9:27Speaker 1: have Sadie Hawkins, yeah.
- 9:28Speaker 2: Oh my God, yes, we had this. I went to that.
- 9:31Speaker 2: You did? No, you're so right. Yeah, that's a really
- 9:34Speaker 2: fun one.
- 9:35Speaker 1: Yeah, anything you want to know about yourself, just ask me.
- 9:38Speaker 1: But you had to ask a boy.
- 9:39Speaker 2: Yeah, I guess I did. Damn.
- 9:43Speaker 1: Do you remember? We did have that.
- 9:47Speaker 3: Oh, my God.
- 9:47Speaker 2: That has brought up so many memories.
- 9:49Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, because the girl had to buy the shirt, dude.
- 9:51Speaker 1: And I remember I'd be at school, and it would
- 9:53Speaker 1: be like the day the girl was going to give
- 9:54Speaker 1: you the shirt.
- 9:55Speaker 2: What shirt? What shirt are you talking about?
- 9:56Speaker 1: Because girls and boys had to have matching shirts for
- 9:59Speaker 1: Sadie Hawkins dance.
- 10:00Speaker 2: Oh, we had different Sadie Hawkins.
- 10:02Speaker 1: Oh, really?
- 10:02Speaker 2: What was yours like?
- 10:04Speaker 1: You had to get a matching shirt and the girl
- 10:06Speaker 1: would buy it. But then you had to meet her
- 10:09Speaker 1: at school the day she would give you the shirt.
- 10:10Speaker 1: You know, she'd call you the night before and she'd
- 10:12Speaker 1: be like, my mom got us shirts. You're like, all right.
- 10:15Speaker 2: You don't know what the shirt is?
- 10:16Speaker 1: No, and you're just nervous anyway because you're just kind
- 10:18Speaker 1: of nervous to be around girls and it's like junior
- 10:20Speaker 1: high or whatever. And then you'd meet her and you'd
- 10:24Speaker 1: get the shirt and you were just so nervous, I
- 10:26Speaker 1: feel like. Were you nervous in junior high and stuff?
- 10:30Speaker 1: What were you like?
- 10:31Speaker 2: A little bit, maybe. I don't know. It depends on
- 10:33Speaker 2: the situation. I feel you. That's a scary situation right now.
- 10:38Speaker 1: Do you remember the first time a guy had to
- 10:39Speaker 1: ask you to a dance or anything like that?
- 10:41Speaker 2: I don't know. I didn't go to many dances. Really?
- 10:43Speaker 1: Really?
- 10:44Speaker 2: Yeah, no. I wasn't much of a dancer.
- 10:46Speaker 1: Well, yeah, I didn't go because I was a dancer.
- 10:49Speaker 2: No, no, no. You were like a dancer, like going.
- 10:52Speaker 1: Oh, you didn't go. Okay.
- 10:53Speaker 2: I think I went to one in like sixth grade
- 10:54Speaker 2: or something.
- 10:55Speaker 1: Okay.
- 10:56Speaker 2: But, yeah.
- 10:58Speaker 1: Okay, so you're growing up around there. You're not dancing.
- 11:01Speaker 1: What are you doing over there? Did you have a
- 11:03Speaker 1: first job over there somewhere?
- 11:05Speaker 2: No, I did track, though. I did cheer.
- 11:07Speaker 1: You did track? Mm-hmm. Yeah.
- 11:10Speaker 2: What did you do?
- 11:11Speaker 1: I played basketball. With a couple of brothers, too. Bring
- 11:15Speaker 1: it up again, man, when you get it. You did track,
- 11:19Speaker 1: because track is sort of a, that's me right there.
- 11:23Speaker 2: Damn, wait, which one?
- 11:24Speaker 1: This picture's faded out. Number 34. Okay.
- 11:28Speaker 2: Really?
- 11:29Speaker 1: Yeah. And I'll tell you this, Mr. Don on our team,
- 11:32Speaker 1: who was the same age as me, but people called
- 11:34Speaker 1: him Mr. Don, he had two children. He was a
- 11:37Speaker 1: power forward.
- 11:37Speaker 2: Wow. How old were you?
- 11:39Speaker 1: Probably 13.
- 11:40Speaker 2: You were 13 in high school?
- 11:41Speaker 1: Yeah. ball and that's crazy yeah yeah um so what
- 11:47Speaker 1: were you doing over there then um.
- 11:51Speaker 2: Just yeah sports i don't know what did you do.
- 11:53Speaker 1: When you were growing up yeah i don't know either
- 11:56Speaker 1: i guess just.
- 11:56Speaker 2: Like the normal thing yeah that's normal.
- 11:58Speaker 1: Stuff i guess what would you guys do for fun
- 12:00Speaker 1: in your town like in our town sometimes like when
- 12:02Speaker 1: we got into high school we would meet outside of
- 12:05Speaker 1: the um michael's craft store parking lot yeah and people
- 12:09Speaker 1: would go.
- 12:10Speaker 2: Do stuff okay yeah so similar walmart Walmart, really? Yeah,
- 12:13Speaker 2: but I don't know. You didn't really want to go there.
- 12:15Speaker 1: Really?
- 12:16Speaker 2: Yeah, it was like ratchet. Did y'all have like different
- 12:17Speaker 2: parking lots for different like vibes?
- 12:21Speaker 1: Oh, like this parking lot is this vibe. This parking
- 12:23Speaker 1: lot is more country.
- 12:24Speaker 2: This one's ratchet. This one's, yeah, 100%. Okay.
- 12:26Speaker 1: At our school, we had this, it was called the
- 12:29Speaker 1: Hick Tree, Prep Tree, and then I guess a little
- 12:33Speaker 1: bit more like the Urban Tree kind of, you know?
- 12:35Speaker 1: And that's where, yeah, people would like be like more
- 12:38Speaker 1: beatboxing kind of stuff or people like, you know, cipher
- 12:42Speaker 1: and stuff like that. So those were the trees that
- 12:44Speaker 1: we had kind of.
- 12:46Speaker 2: Okay. Trees. Yeah.
- 12:47Speaker 1: And then parking lots. I don't think so really. Like
- 12:50Speaker 1: we had to go in in New Orleans if you
- 12:52Speaker 1: really wanted to get ratchet kind of.
- 12:53Speaker 2: Wait, where are you from?
- 12:54Speaker 1: I'm from Covington, Louisiana.
- 12:55Speaker 2: Okay.
- 12:56Speaker 1: So it's just like a pretty regular place.
- 12:57Speaker 2: You're close to New Orleans?
- 12:59Speaker 1: Maybe 45 minutes.
- 13:00Speaker 2: Really? You go a lot?
- 13:01Speaker 1: Oh, dude, we would go a lot. But the problem
- 13:03Speaker 1: was that we'd go over there and get drunk and
- 13:04Speaker 1: then somebody would have to drive home.
- 13:07Speaker 2: Who drove home?
- 13:08Speaker 1: Huh? Yeah, that's a great question. And that's what our
- 13:10Speaker 1: parents asked every time we got back.
- 13:12Speaker 2: Oh, it's fucked up, dude.
- 13:13Speaker 1: Yeah, it was bad, dude.
- 13:14Speaker 2: Fuck, I love that city. In New Orleans? Yeah.
- 13:17Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 13:17Speaker 2: I love it. I've been like twice.
- 13:19Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 13:19Speaker 2: I want to go back.
- 13:20Speaker 1: Did you go on tour?
- 13:20Speaker 2: Mm-hmm.
- 13:22Speaker 1: Was the first tour Drowning was the tour? Yeah. Okay.
- 13:25Speaker 2: Yeah, but no, it's such a good one. I watched
- 13:27Speaker 2: a documentary about Katrina the other day.
- 13:30Speaker 1: You did?
- 13:30Speaker 2: And now I'm upset. Do you remember it?
- 13:31Speaker 1: Yeah, dude, my friend was a news reporter during Katrina.
- 13:34Speaker 1: He lived in Baton Rouge. So they had to take
- 13:37Speaker 1: him by helicopter every day into New Orleans and then
- 13:39Speaker 1: helicopter him out.
- 13:40Speaker 2: No way.
- 13:41Speaker 1: So he'd be there like interviewing people that were like,
- 13:44Speaker 1: he's like, where are you sleeping tonight? They're like, we
- 13:46Speaker 1: don't know. He's like, all right, I got to get
- 13:47Speaker 1: on this helicopter and leave. That's so sad. Yeah. What?
- 13:51Speaker 1: It's pretty sad. I kind of feel for him some.
- 13:53Speaker 1: But yeah, Katrina was pretty bonk, dude.
- 13:57Speaker 2: You remember it well?
- 13:58Speaker 1: I don't remember it that well, but I do remember
- 14:00Speaker 1: seeing photos. They had like, because the water was really high.
- 14:05Speaker 1: There were photos where people had like gotten, were like
- 14:08Speaker 1: kind of swimming through the water and then they got
- 14:09Speaker 1: hung up on a fence, like a regular heighted fence.
- 14:12Speaker 1: And then after the water went down, they found bodies
- 14:15Speaker 1: just like hanging over the fence.
- 14:16Speaker 2: On the fences?
- 14:17Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 14:18Speaker 2: That's dark. I didn't see that in the documentary.
- 14:20Speaker 1: It was pretty dark, yeah.
- 14:22Speaker 2: Did y'all get bad weather?
- 14:23Speaker 1: Like that. I mean, that's a bit much.
- 14:25Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 14:27Speaker 1: Oh, you have to flash it like that. I mean,
- 14:29Speaker 1: we can look, we can close our eyes if we want,
- 14:31Speaker 1: but yeah. So stuff like that, like people all over,
- 14:34Speaker 1: this was another thing that happened that people don't realize
- 14:37Speaker 1: people would be like going. Cause everywhere was covered in water.
- 14:40Speaker 1: So people would be going through somebody's backyard. They had
- 14:42Speaker 1: a swimming pool that people don't know while they're going
- 14:44Speaker 1: through the water. No. Yeah. And just, just down in
- 14:49Speaker 1: deep end, dude, the whole city's a deep end. Um, So, yeah,
- 14:54Speaker 1: that was kind of, I guess that was something. Did
- 14:56Speaker 1: they have any tragedies in your area growing up? Were
- 14:58Speaker 1: you guys like in the tornado belt or anything or
- 15:00Speaker 1: head lice or anything?
- 15:01Speaker 2: Oh, definitely. Head lice, 100%, but tornadoes for sure.
- 15:05Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 15:06Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 15:06Speaker 2: Some of my friends definitely got their roofs taken. Oh.
- 15:09Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 15:09Speaker 2: You?
- 15:11Speaker 1: We had a lot of head lice. I think I
- 15:14Speaker 1: grew up in the head lice belt or whatever, and
- 15:16Speaker 1: you'd see people itching all the time.
- 15:19Speaker 2: He was serious.
- 15:19Speaker 1: One kid, he was just itching so much at Christmas.
- 15:21Speaker 1: I remember he couldn't even open his gifts because he
- 15:23Speaker 1: was just– No. Yeah. No. No. Yeah. No. Yeah.
- 15:27Speaker 2: Did he get rid of it?
- 15:28Speaker 1: I mean, I don't know.
- 15:29Speaker 2: You should ask.
- 15:30Speaker 1: I hope he's doing well. Yeah. I didn't get his name.
- 15:33Speaker 1: And that's okay, you know. Time passes and time heals
- 15:35Speaker 1: all wounds.
- 15:36Speaker 2: Did he shave his head?
- 15:37Speaker 1: Let's talk more about you, okay? I don't know. I
- 15:40Speaker 1: don't know what I'm talking about anymore. No, you've just
- 15:43Speaker 1: had such an ascent. It's really like– it's– it's rare,
- 15:48Speaker 1: you know, I mean, you've just had such an ascent,
- 15:51Speaker 1: you know, with your career. Um, what are, what are
- 15:54Speaker 1: parts that are kind of scary right now?
- 15:56Speaker 2: Um, I think just decision making, I get really like
- 15:59Speaker 2: scared making decisions.
- 16:00Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 16:01Speaker 2: Me too. It's scary. Yeah. That part overwhelms me a lot. Um,
- 16:04Speaker 2: and just knowing like what's the right decision to make
- 16:06Speaker 2: and trying to learn all that probably, but.
- 16:09Speaker 1: And is it decisions about like what, what song you do,
- 16:11Speaker 1: like maybe who to collaborate with or what kind of
- 16:13Speaker 1: decisions you mean? Yeah.
- 16:14Speaker 2: And how to like deal with certain things too. I
- 16:16Speaker 2: think I'm, learning and like i don't know i feel
- 16:19Speaker 2: like i'm also dealing with like i've dealt with some
- 16:21Speaker 2: like hate for the first time and that's something i'm
- 16:23Speaker 2: trying to like figure out yeah yeah because i got
- 16:26Speaker 2: such a short temper you do yeah damn so i
- 16:30Speaker 2: gotta figure out how to like navigate.
- 16:31Speaker 1: It um was it with the co wetzel song that
- 16:34Speaker 1: kind of stuff or just other stuff.
- 16:35Speaker 2: I mean that's definitely yeah that was prominent but.
- 16:39Speaker 1: Yeah because you had a song with co wetzel and
- 16:41Speaker 1: people were upset why was it i i I couldn't
- 16:43Speaker 1: even figure out kind of why they were upset.
- 16:45Speaker 2: I think just because I was on the song.
- 16:47Speaker 1: Oh, really? Yeah. Oh, that's a bummer.
- 16:49Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 16:50Speaker 1: I thought it was really awesome.
- 16:52Speaker 2: Thank you. I appreciate that. I think they were just
- 16:54Speaker 2: pissed that it wasn't just him, probably. You know? Because,
- 17:00Speaker 2: you know, sometimes you just want a song and it's
- 17:01Speaker 2: like you just want that person.
- 17:03Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, that's true.
- 17:05Speaker 2: But they were pissed. They were pissed.
- 17:07Speaker 1: Damn, maybe if you were really.
- 17:08Speaker 2: I got dogged. Really? Really?
- 17:11Speaker 1: Did anybody say a really good burn and you were like, yeah, that.
- 17:14Speaker 1: Does anybody, because sometimes you read a comment, you're like,
- 17:17Speaker 1: that's so good. Yeah, I know.
- 17:19Speaker 2: I don't know. I don't know. There was a lot of,
- 17:21Speaker 2: there was a lot of shit.
- 17:23Speaker 1: And would it just make you like kind of nervous
- 17:25Speaker 1: about it or?
- 17:26Speaker 2: No, it just made me mad.
- 17:27Speaker 1: Oh, I see.
- 17:28Speaker 2: Because like nobody would say that to me in person. Yeah.
- 17:30Speaker 2: It feels so personal.
- 17:32Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 17:32Speaker 2: You know, you ever read your comments?
- 17:34Speaker 1: Oh, I'll read stuff sometimes.
- 17:36Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 17:36Speaker 1: This guy looks homeless. How'd this guy get a home?
- 17:40Speaker 2: That's fucked up.
- 17:41Speaker 1: Yeah. Oh, the best. This guy looks like somebody that
- 17:44Speaker 1: might have matches on him. That's what somebody wrote one time.
- 17:47Speaker 2: That's bad. I don't know why, but that one feels
- 17:49Speaker 2: really bad.
- 17:52Speaker 1: So, yeah, sometimes you read stuff, it really kind of,
- 17:56Speaker 1: you feel kind of cooked by it. And you can't
- 17:58Speaker 1: write back because then you're in the bullshit.
- 18:01Speaker 2: No, you shouldn't.
- 18:02Speaker 1: Yeah, you should never. Do you?
- 18:03Speaker 2: Yes.
- 18:04Speaker 1: Do you really?
- 18:05Speaker 2: Do you not?
- 18:06Speaker 1: Hell no.
- 18:06Speaker 2: You've never done it?
- 18:07Speaker 1: Ever.
- 18:07Speaker 2: You never wanted to do it?
- 18:10Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, I've wanted to.
- 18:11Speaker 2: Maybe you should do it.
- 18:12Speaker 1: Nah.
- 18:12Speaker 2: I think you should fucking do it.
- 18:14Speaker 1: You're bad. I can already tell you're a horrible influence. So, okay,
- 18:19Speaker 1: so you're growing up in Huntsville, and then how did
- 18:20Speaker 1: things start kind of popping? You're doing music, you're running track,
- 18:23Speaker 1: and what's going on? You run by the music teacher
- 18:26Speaker 1: and just hit some bars or what?
- 18:29Speaker 2: No, I started, like, posting online, and then it just
- 18:32Speaker 2: kind of took off from there. TikTok.
- 18:34Speaker 1: On TikTok? Yeah. Wow. So do you think that now, like,
- 18:38Speaker 1: people want to– Like, do most young people think I
- 18:42Speaker 1: need to be good at music or I need to
- 18:45Speaker 1: be good on social media, I wonder?
- 18:47Speaker 2: Whoa, that's a really good question. I don't know. Probably
- 18:50Speaker 2: social media is their first thought, I think.
- 18:52Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 18:53Speaker 2: I don't know. That's a great question. I think it's
- 18:55Speaker 2: kind of a joint effort, though. Because the music is
- 19:00Speaker 2: the first part, I'd say, actually. Because you've got to
- 19:02Speaker 2: have something there, I think. But then the next step
- 19:05Speaker 2: is to make sure that can translate onto a screen.
- 19:07Speaker 1: Yeah. And like in the beginning, were you just kind
- 19:11Speaker 1: of screwing around or what happened? I haven't seen your
- 19:14Speaker 1: earliest TikToks.
- 19:15Speaker 2: That's good. It's, yeah, I don't know. I was just
- 19:18Speaker 2: sitting in my like, in my house in the basement.
- 19:21Speaker 2: And I would just like film videos and be singing.
- 19:23Speaker 2: I was like doing covers and shit. Oh, nice.
- 19:25Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 19:26Speaker 2: And then one of those blew up. And then it
- 19:28Speaker 2: was right when COVID happened. So then I was just
- 19:29Speaker 2: stuck at home. So I just kept doing it.
- 19:31Speaker 1: Just in the basement? Yes. Oh, so you just were
- 19:35Speaker 1: you at first you were just doing covers? Oh, that's
- 19:37Speaker 1: kind of perfect, huh?
- 19:38Speaker 2: Yeah, it was a good start. And then did.
- 19:40Speaker 1: You start writing some, like what was one of your
- 19:42Speaker 1: first songs that you wrote?
- 19:44Speaker 2: I don't even know. I've I've been writing since I
- 19:45Speaker 2: was like 11. I just didn't post it when I
- 19:48Speaker 2: was 11, which is so good.
- 19:50Speaker 1: Yeah. Cause I mean, yeah. Imagine that.
- 19:54Speaker 2: Right. Yeah.
- 19:56Speaker 1: You know, even you get your, even it does well
- 19:58Speaker 1: at 11 and then you're like, fuck, I'm 12 and
- 20:02Speaker 1: I have all this. It's a huge, like if you
- 20:05Speaker 1: want to be able to really like have a career,
- 20:07Speaker 1: that's a, such a long career to have to even
- 20:09Speaker 1: get to, 30. 100%.
- 20:11Speaker 2: Yeah. Also, and then you look back and you're like,
- 20:14Speaker 2: things you say when you're 11, it's not how you
- 20:16Speaker 2: feel when you're 12. Totally different. So different.
- 20:20Speaker 1: Like, man, I wish these girls would leave me alone.
- 20:22Speaker 1: That's 11. And then 12, you're like, damn, where the
- 20:25Speaker 1: ho is that? It's so different. Some kids are, and
- 20:26Speaker 1: I don't see that kind of stuff.
- 20:27Speaker 2: Oh, wow, we don't have to. Fuck.
- 20:30Speaker 1: Is this an early one?
- 20:30Speaker 2: No, this is so bad.
- 20:31Speaker 1: This is the beginning, and it's far down there.
- 20:33Speaker 2: That was fast.
- 20:34Speaker 1: Oh, my God. A lot of these look like– Wow.
- 20:37Speaker 3: Wow.
- 20:37Speaker 1: Missing person photos.
- 20:39Speaker 2: This is so scary.
- 20:41Speaker 1: Hey, just scroll through really quick again like that a
- 20:43Speaker 1: little bit. Oh, a lot of these look like. Like Jesus.
- 20:50Speaker 2: Wow, there's a lot.
- 20:51Speaker 1: You were so brave. That's a lot.
- 20:52Speaker 2: No, and it was scary because people would like make
- 20:54Speaker 2: fun of you at high school. Oh, I'm sure. So
- 20:57Speaker 2: crazy time for that to happen.
- 20:59Speaker 1: Yeah, to put yourself out there like that and then
- 21:00Speaker 1: go to school like if you have one that doesn't
- 21:03Speaker 1: really pop.
- 21:04Speaker 2: Yeah, and a bunch of them didn't pop before one popped.
- 21:07Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 21:07Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 21:08Speaker 1: But when one popped that next day, you were like,
- 21:10Speaker 1: what's good? Oh, yeah. Wow.
- 21:12Speaker 2: That was so embarrassing. And you'd see the like, where
- 21:14Speaker 2: you can see that people would send something. You know
- 21:16Speaker 2: what I'm talking about? The little arrow.
- 21:17Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. The arrow. Yeah. That's the best marker.
- 21:19Speaker 2: But when there's like three, you're like, fuck.
- 21:22Speaker 1: And you know, it's just three people in your school.
- 21:24Speaker 1: We're like, look what the fuck this chick's up to.
- 21:27Speaker 3: Oh, bad.
- 21:28Speaker 2: That didn't happen to you?
- 21:29Speaker 1: No, because we didn't have it. And so you were like,
- 21:32Speaker 1: if you would sing in front of your class, whatever,
- 21:34Speaker 1: and people were like, you suck or whatever.
- 21:35Speaker 2: Did you do that?
- 21:37Speaker 1: No, I didn't. Can you sing? There's one video of
- 21:40Speaker 1: me singing. The boys will find it. What did we have? Oh,
- 21:45Speaker 1: I remember like talent shows where you got to do something.
- 21:48Speaker 1: That's crazy, dude. So since we didn't have TikTok, we
- 21:50Speaker 1: had an actual talent show where people had to do
- 21:52Speaker 1: a talent. And that was your one chance. You basically
- 21:55Speaker 1: got one TikTok for the year and it was live
- 21:58Speaker 1: at night.
- 21:58Speaker 2: You only had one of them?
- 21:59Speaker 1: That was it because it was like you get up
- 22:01Speaker 1: a talent show and that would be it. And people
- 22:04Speaker 1: would just– the next day people would be like, you suck.
- 22:07Speaker 2: Did you sing at the talent show?
- 22:09Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm singing right here.
- 22:10Speaker 2: This is you?
- 22:11Speaker 1: Mm-hmm. It's a while back.
- 22:12Speaker 2: Wow, different haircut.
- 22:14Speaker 1: Yeah, cool. We grew up in the church.
- 22:24Speaker 2: There's no way.
- 22:24Speaker 1: That's not really me. Sorry, sorry.
- 22:26Speaker 2: That's not you?
- 22:27Speaker 1: Somebody made this and sent it. Hell no.
- 22:29Speaker 2: That's not you? That is you.
- 22:32Speaker 1: That guy looks like mentally unwell. I mean, it looks
- 22:34Speaker 1: like me, but that guy is not.
- 22:35Speaker 2: Theo, that's you.
- 22:37Speaker 1: I pray one day that God turns me into that.
- 22:39Speaker 2: Do you have a cousin?
- 22:40Speaker 1: I don't know. But if he is, I'm going to
- 22:43Speaker 1: take his life and his skills. No. And I'm going
- 22:46Speaker 1: to become that guy.
- 22:47Speaker 2: You're related to him.
- 22:48Speaker 1: I hope I am.
- 22:49Speaker 2: Have you talked to your mom?
- 22:51Speaker 1: Yeah, not as much, but that's just our history. Okay,
- 22:56Speaker 1: so TikTok starts to happen. You come out of the basement.
- 22:59Speaker 1: You finally realize.
- 23:00Speaker 2: Yes.
- 23:00Speaker 1: Um, I'm doing well enough on TikTok. I can come
- 23:02Speaker 1: out of the basement. Yes. And then how do you
- 23:04Speaker 1: start to write like your first song? Like, how does
- 23:06Speaker 1: it evolve a little bit from there? Do you write
- 23:08Speaker 1: your first song by yourself?
- 23:10Speaker 2: Yes. I, I think I like something like made me
- 23:13Speaker 2: so sad or mad or something. I think I went
- 23:15Speaker 2: through a breakup or something and I just wanted that
- 23:17Speaker 2: person to know how I felt so bad. So I
- 23:20Speaker 2: would just like write a song and post it and
- 23:21Speaker 2: I'm like, well, he's going to see it. So that was,
- 23:24Speaker 2: that was my thought process.
- 23:26Speaker 1: Yeah, because a lot of your stuff, it's like, dang,
- 23:29Speaker 1: she is. A lot of your stuff gives me like bereaved,
- 23:36Speaker 1: like revenge chick vibes.
- 23:37Speaker 2: What does bereaved mean?
- 23:39Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 23:40Speaker 2: I liked that word.
- 23:42Speaker 1: A close relation, a friend through their death. Oh, maybe
- 23:45Speaker 1: I'll use this one wrong. Oh, bereaved. Go down one more.
- 23:49Speaker 1: To be deprived of a loved one through a profound absence.
- 23:52Speaker 2: Fuck, that's sad. Wow. I'm going to have to use
- 23:55Speaker 2: this word more.
- 23:57Speaker 1: Yeah, because some of you put stuff and I'm like, God,
- 23:59Speaker 1: who's she mad at? Some of it has a little
- 24:02Speaker 1: bit of revenge in it, though.
- 24:04Speaker 2: 100%. Yeah.
- 24:04Speaker 1: And it's kind of like, all right, interesting.
- 24:08Speaker 2: It's the most motivating emotion, I think so.
- 24:11Speaker 1: Do you think?
- 24:11Speaker 2: 100%. What do you think?
- 24:13Speaker 1: Right?
- 24:14Speaker 2: What motivates you the most?
- 24:16Speaker 1: That's a great question. Yeah, probably some spite, probably.
- 24:19Speaker 2: Spite.
- 24:20Speaker 1: Which is just, yeah, it's like... Revenge's fancy cousin that
- 24:22Speaker 1: wears a tie, I guess.
- 24:23Speaker 2: 100%. Yeah.
- 24:26Speaker 1: What is it? Oh, proving something to people. Right.
- 24:30Speaker 2: Spite.
- 24:31Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 24:31Speaker 2: I'm telling you. Yeah.
- 24:33Speaker 1: It's like, oh, I'll show these. And then I use,
- 24:36Speaker 1: you know, things you don't say at church or say
- 24:38Speaker 1: to your grandmother at your grandmother's house, you know?
- 24:40Speaker 2: Exactly.
- 24:42Speaker 1: So you start to write a song, right? You write
- 24:45Speaker 1: your own songs? Yeah. Yeah? Yes.
- 24:47Speaker 2: I'll collaborate with people sometimes, but I always am a writer. Really?
- 24:50Speaker 1: Yeah. So your first album was mostly your own?
- 24:52Speaker 2: Yes. Wow. Yeah.
- 24:54Speaker 1: Dude, it was so good.
- 24:56Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 24:56Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 24:56Speaker 2: Damn.
- 24:57Speaker 1: I mean, I feel weird as like a man saying
- 24:58Speaker 1: that because I almost feel like it's– I don't want
- 25:01Speaker 1: to say it's music for women because music can be
- 25:02Speaker 1: for anybody.
- 25:03Speaker 2: It can be for anybody.
- 25:04Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 25:05Speaker 2: Damn, were you going through it?
- 25:07Speaker 1: I don't– probably. I've been going through it my whole life.
- 25:10Speaker 1: So I think I could just– I was like, what
- 25:12Speaker 1: the fuck is going on here? And so, yeah, there
- 25:15Speaker 1: were so many things. I was like– Yeah, I just
- 25:18Speaker 1: loved it. And it was kind of weird because I
- 25:20Speaker 1: would tell my buddy, I was like, have you heard
- 25:22Speaker 1: this girl? And they're like, what the fuck are you
- 25:24Speaker 1: talking about, dude? You know, put some guar on, bro,
- 25:27Speaker 1: or something, you know. Put on something dangerous. Let's be real.
- 25:32Speaker 1: Most guys would wear a t-shirt every day of their
- 25:35Speaker 1: lives if they could. The problem is there's not often
- 25:38Speaker 1: a t-shirt that you can wear to work and also
- 25:42Speaker 1: out on a hot date. Well, today's sponsor, Cuts, has
- 25:47Speaker 1: changed that. Cuts t-shirts are such high quality, wrinkle-free, and
- 25:52Speaker 1: so buttery soft that you can look like you're dressing

- 28:23Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 28:24Speaker 2: I think there was this one song. People started reaching
- 28:27Speaker 2: out through email. People would just email or slide in
- 28:30Speaker 2: the DMs.
- 28:31Speaker 1: Really?
- 28:31Speaker 2: And it kind of went through there. Yeah.
- 28:33Speaker 1: Okay.
- 28:34Speaker 2: But I don't really remember how all that happened. It
- 28:36Speaker 2: felt like such a blur of time. And my mom
- 28:38Speaker 2: also helped me with a lot of it.
- 28:40Speaker 1: She did?
- 28:40Speaker 2: Because I was so young, yeah.
- 28:42Speaker 1: And is she pretty smart? Yeah.
- 28:45Speaker 2: God bless her. Good woman.
- 28:46Speaker 1: What does she do for a job?
- 28:49Speaker 2: She works at a transmission shop.
- 28:52Speaker 1: No way.
- 28:53Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 28:53Speaker 1: Really?
- 28:53Speaker 2: Family business.
- 28:55Speaker 1: No way. Your family's not trainees. What's the term called? Transmissioners. Yeah.
- 29:03Speaker 1: That's awesome.
- 29:03Speaker 2: That's got to be it.
- 29:05Speaker 1: Dang so your dad sometimes has like grease on his arms.
- 29:08Speaker 2: Or whatever no i mean no i don't.
- 29:11Speaker 1: Know but how do they get them out of there what.
- 29:14Speaker 2: The transmission shop i don't know i don't know she
- 29:17Speaker 2: works she doesn't like build transmissions.
- 29:19Speaker 1: Okay so she's not a mechanic no i see that'd
- 29:21Speaker 1: be crazy though okay yeah could be a little bit
- 29:25Speaker 1: strange maybe my mom dated a mechanic i think for
- 29:28Speaker 1: a little while really Yeah, I don't know. I think
- 29:31Speaker 1: she just needed new tires, to be honest with you.
- 29:33Speaker 2: Damn.
- 29:33Speaker 1: But, you know, you got to do what you got
- 29:36Speaker 1: to do.
- 29:37Speaker 2: Happens.
- 29:38Speaker 1: Yeah. Things run a lot better.
- 29:40Speaker 2: The new tires, though?
- 29:41Speaker 1: Yeah, we got them. That's what I'm talking about. It's
- 29:46Speaker 1: all about that PSI, mommy. That's what we need. Filling
- 29:49Speaker 1: bad boys up, dude. So I saw you in Boston perform.
- 29:55Speaker 1: How do you get from where we're at– Like where
- 29:57Speaker 1: you're in your town to that place. Like your mom
- 30:01Speaker 1: puts deals together, something. You fly to where, Los Angeles?
- 30:05Speaker 2: New York.
- 30:06Speaker 1: New York. Yeah. Whoa, was that your first time ever going?
- 30:09Speaker 2: Yeah, 100%. I think the first place I ever went
- 30:12Speaker 2: was Miami. And I spent a week there and just
- 30:14Speaker 2: made music for a week.
- 30:16Speaker 1: With producers? Yeah. Okay.
- 30:19Speaker 2: And that was my first time like going anywhere for music.
- 30:21Speaker 2: It was my first time like going on a plane
- 30:23Speaker 2: other than for like cheerleading. Yeah. It was crazy. It
- 30:26Speaker 2: was crazy.
- 30:27Speaker 1: It must've been so exciting, huh?
- 30:29Speaker 2: It was so exciting. It was so exciting. And I was,
- 30:31Speaker 2: I just remember being so like, Oh my God, I
- 30:33Speaker 2: want to do this the rest of my life. I
- 30:34Speaker 2: like fell in love with it. Um, but yeah, I
- 30:37Speaker 2: don't know. Everything just feels like a blur.
- 30:39Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 30:39Speaker 2: Like how, how do you feel when people ask you?
- 30:42Speaker 1: Oh yeah. Now things certainly feel like a blur. Right.
- 30:44Speaker 1: And then sometimes you can't even remember what you were doing.
- 30:46Speaker 1: It's like, I don't even know. You're right.
- 30:48Speaker 2: You just somehow like got where you are.
- 30:50Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 30:50Speaker 2: You know?
- 30:51Speaker 1: Yeah. Like I kept, I've always kept working. I've just
- 30:53Speaker 1: kept going forward.
- 30:54Speaker 2: Exactly. You just have to keep doing it.
- 30:56Speaker 1: Yeah. So yeah, so maybe we don't even have to
- 30:59Speaker 1: learn about all that stuff about you. You know, it's
- 31:01Speaker 1: just here we are. Do you have like a pre-show
- 31:04Speaker 1: routine in that you do? Like tell me about it.
- 31:05Speaker 1: Take me through some of that.
- 31:07Speaker 2: Okay, pre-show, what I do, I'll have a Red Bull
- 31:10Speaker 2: every time and I'll put on, lately I put on
- 31:14Speaker 2: Sexy Red every time. I mean, you got to do it.
- 31:17Speaker 1: Shake that ass for Drake.
- 31:19Speaker 2: Exactly. That's what I put on before I go on.
- 31:22Speaker 2: Get It Sexy is the song.
- 31:23Speaker 1: Oh yeah.
- 31:24Speaker 2: The last song I play before I go on. And Yeah,
- 31:27Speaker 2: it's really all due. It's not too complicated.
- 31:29Speaker 1: That's it?
- 31:30Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 31:31Speaker 1: And what's in your green room, Connie? You have some
- 31:32Speaker 1: candles in there? What do you got?
- 31:34Speaker 2: I try to have some candles in there, like a
- 31:37Speaker 2: good vanilla one. I like something really sweet, probably.
- 31:41Speaker 1: Yeah, something that reminds you of a car freshener. You
- 31:43Speaker 1: can tell you grew up poor if your candles match
- 31:45Speaker 1: your car freshener smells.
- 31:46Speaker 2: Damn, that's fucked up.
- 31:48Speaker 1: That's so true.
- 31:49Speaker 2: Damn. Yeah, I actually realize that a lot.
- 31:52Speaker 1: Like, hey, light up that new car smell candle, you know?
- 31:56Speaker 2: I get it, though.
- 31:57Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 31:57Speaker 2: Bath and body works.
- 31:58Speaker 1: Oh, God, dude.
- 31:59Speaker 2: You go there?
- 32:00Speaker 1: Nobody used to go there to get presents for your
- 32:03Speaker 1: girlfriend or something. You have to go in there.
- 32:05Speaker 2: It's a good place.
- 32:06Speaker 1: And it was so embarrassing. Some lady comes over in
- 32:08Speaker 1: an apron, and she's like, how can I help you?
- 32:11Speaker 1: You're like, I'm in love with somebody. I got to
- 32:13Speaker 1: prove it to them. I need a damn scent that
- 32:16Speaker 1: expresses my fucking feelings, lady.
- 32:18Speaker 2: How many times did you go there, you think?
- 32:20Speaker 1: Probably three or four times. For girls?
- 32:21Speaker 2: The same girl?
- 32:23Speaker 1: Yeah, probably two different girls, maybe.
- 32:25Speaker 2: Damn.
- 32:26Speaker 1: But was what it was. I got in there and
- 32:29Speaker 1: got out, you know, have.
- 32:31Speaker 2: Did what I had to do.
- 32:32Speaker 1: Huh?
- 32:32Speaker 2: It did the trick though.
- 32:33Speaker 1: Did the trick.
- 32:34Speaker 2: Every time it's going to work.
- 32:35Speaker 1: Yeah. My first girlfriend was kind of like a, she
- 32:39Speaker 1: was like pretty masculine, I guess.
- 32:41Speaker 2: And.
- 32:41Speaker 1: She would– the school bus would come and my brother's friend,
- 32:44Speaker 1: it would pick them up first. So they'd already be
- 32:46Speaker 1: on the bus and she would pick me up and
- 32:49Speaker 1: give me a kiss goodbye at the end of school.
- 32:50Speaker 3: Wow.
- 32:51Speaker 2: How old were we?
- 32:51Speaker 1: She played second base. We were seventh grade. I don't
- 32:53Speaker 1: know what grade she was. She might have been 40
- 32:55Speaker 1: years old. But she would fucking– I remember. And they
- 32:58Speaker 1: would– you could hear them, the windows would be up
- 33:00Speaker 1: because the driver would get mad. He'd put them down.
- 33:02Speaker 1: You could hear them howling through the bus windows. No.
- 33:05Speaker 2: What was her name?
- 33:07Speaker 1: I don't want to say it because– I'm sure she's
- 33:11Speaker 1: a beautiful– I think she just– you know, some people,
- 33:13Speaker 1: she's a late bloomer, you know?
- 33:14Speaker 2: No, I actually feel like girls probably, like, mature faster
- 33:17Speaker 2: at that age.
- 33:18Speaker 1: Oh, she was mature, dude.
- 33:20Speaker 2: She was tall.
- 33:20Speaker 1: She played second base. Oh, come on, dude. This is
- 33:23Speaker 1: a lot.
- 33:25Speaker 2: Damn, that's a weird image in my head right now.
- 33:27Speaker 1: This is a lot. And I didn't hold onto that
- 33:29Speaker 1: gate or whatever. She was real– she held me up, dude.
- 33:34Speaker 1: I didn't have a choice. She played second base, I think,
- 33:36Speaker 1: on the– For what sport? I don't know. Hopefully not baseball.
- 33:39Speaker 1: But all I'm saying is she was a tough gal,
- 33:43Speaker 1: and I was just glad that we had each other
- 33:45Speaker 1: for the time that we did.
- 33:46Speaker 2: And that's the one you got Bath and Body Works for?
- 33:48Speaker 1: Yeah, I remember getting her something. And she wanted a
- 33:50Speaker 1: lot of Atlanta Braves baseball gear and stuff like that.
- 33:53Speaker 2: So she did play baseball?
- 33:55Speaker 1: Yeah, she really did.
- 33:55Speaker 2: You had it right the first time.
- 33:57Speaker 1: Yeah, she played a woman's baseball. Anyway, yeah, I'm trying
- 34:02Speaker 1: to think. What do I have in there? So I'll
- 34:03Speaker 1: have like a yoga mat. Oh, yeah, they're sexy right there.
- 34:06Speaker 1: Bring her up.
- 34:07Speaker 2: Wow, that was a good one.
- 34:08Speaker 1: Yeah, that was fun, dude.
- 34:10Speaker 2: She's so good.
- 34:11Speaker 1: And I just got, and I walked in this, if
- 34:15Speaker 1: you're listening on audio, it's just a picture of me
- 34:17Speaker 1: in sexy red, and then there's, I have this Suicide
- 34:20Speaker 1: Boys shirt on, and I'd just gotten that. There was
- 34:23Speaker 1: a room next door. I was asking, I was like,
- 34:24Speaker 1: you guys know where this clothing shop? And they're like,
- 34:26Speaker 1: the people right next door have a bunch of clothes,
- 34:28Speaker 1: and I just walked in there, and they had that shirt.
- 34:30Speaker 2: Like right next door to you?
- 34:31Speaker 1: Of Suicide Boys. You ever heard of them?
- 34:33Speaker 2: Of course I've heard of them.
- 34:34Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 34:34Speaker 2: I just found a song that I really like by them.
- 34:36Speaker 1: Is it called Dust in a Vase?
- 34:38Speaker 2: No, is that one good? I only know one song.
- 34:40Speaker 1: Really?
- 34:41Speaker 2: And I love it. Maybe I should dive in.
- 34:43Speaker 1: Or The Rose. I'm trying to think of the one
- 34:45Speaker 1: I like. But Sexy Was Cool, man. And yeah, I
- 34:49Speaker 1: tried to invite her out to do something, but she
- 34:52Speaker 1: got pregnant. Damn. Which is kind of the same thing.
- 34:56Speaker 1: Because a lot of women are like, I can't, I
- 34:57Speaker 1: have to wash my hair. But she's like, hey.
- 34:59Speaker 2: I got pregnant.
- 35:00Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 35:01Speaker 2: That's one hell of an excuse.
- 35:03Speaker 1: And I know, I was like, I even asked my buddy,
- 35:05Speaker 1: I was like, you don't think she got pregnant just
- 35:07Speaker 1: so she didn't have to go out with me? He's like,
- 35:08Speaker 1: you think someone would get pregnant because she doesn't want
- 35:11Speaker 1: to go out with you, dude? That's, you're an idiot.
- 35:13Speaker 2: I mean, that's commitment though.
- 35:15Speaker 1: It is commitment.
- 35:15Speaker 2: That's some real like people pleasing shit right there.
- 35:17Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah. So anyway. Oh, and then, so yeah, before
- 35:22Speaker 1: my show, what will I do? Yoga for like 34 minutes.
- 35:25Speaker 3: Really?
- 35:26Speaker 2: Actually?
- 35:26Speaker 1: Yep. A hundred percent.
- 35:27Speaker 2: Like regular yoga, hot yoga?
- 35:29Speaker 1: I do yoga with Adrian. It's just on the computer.
- 35:31Speaker 1: And I'll put my yoga mat in my green room.
- 35:34Speaker 1: And then I will have like a couple sips out
- 35:37Speaker 1: of a coffee. And I'll listen to some FGL or
- 35:41Speaker 1: some Boosie. Or maybe some Morgan. And then I'll go
- 35:45Speaker 1: out there.
- 35:46Speaker 2: Okay. I like this routine. Yeah. The yoga's good.
- 35:49Speaker 1: Yoga makes you feel good.
- 35:50Speaker 2: How long have you been doing it?
- 35:52Speaker 1: I've been doing it for maybe six years.
- 35:54Speaker 2: Wow.
- 35:55Speaker 1: So I do it probably three times a week right now.
- 35:56Speaker 1: But it just makes you feel good.
- 35:58Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 35:58Speaker 1: It makes you feel pretty alive, I guess.
- 36:00Speaker 2: You do like complicated yoga?
- 36:02Speaker 1: Hell no, dude.
- 36:03Speaker 2: You said six years?
- 36:03Speaker 1: Like bird or bald eagle or whatever that stuff is.
- 36:06Speaker 2: Damn, you know the names for all of them?
- 36:08Speaker 1: Whatever that other one is. Hurt camel or something.
- 36:10Speaker 2: I don't do any of that.
- 36:11Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 36:11Speaker 2: What does that one look like? I haven't heard of
- 36:13Speaker 2: that one.
- 36:13Speaker 1: You got to be a woman to be able to
- 36:14Speaker 1: do that one, I think. But I think there's just
- 36:18Speaker 1: a lot of different ones. So you've got to do
- 36:22Speaker 1: some cool collabs, yo. Right? Yeah.
- 36:26Speaker 2: Some great collabs.
- 36:28Speaker 1: Pretty crazy. Jelly Roll called you his little sister. What
- 36:32Speaker 1: did he say?
- 36:33Speaker 2: Yeah, you talked with him, didn't you? Yeah.
- 36:35Speaker 1: Yeah, good guy. I love Jelly Roll. I mean, who doesn't?
- 36:37Speaker 2: No, he's the best dude I've ever met.
- 36:39Speaker 1: I know.
- 36:40Speaker 2: Such a great man.
- 36:41Speaker 1: I wish there were more of them or if they
- 36:42Speaker 1: just turned him into two eclairs. But no, you got
- 36:45Speaker 1: to have Jelly Roll.
- 36:47Speaker 2: Jelly Roll is too good.
- 36:49Speaker 1: When you guys made this video, Wild Ones, this was–
- 36:51Speaker 1: because this whole thing is just like– it's not one shot,
- 36:54Speaker 1: was it? How many times did you guys do it?
- 36:58Speaker 2: You know it's fucked up. I don't know if.
- 37:00Speaker 1: Were you really there?
- 37:01Speaker 2: No, that's me. I was there. But I don't think,
- 37:03Speaker 2: I don't know if I've watched the full video. I
- 37:06Speaker 2: don't like to watch them back.
- 37:08Speaker 1: Really?
- 37:08Speaker 2: Yeah, I know. It freaks me out. I don't like
- 37:09Speaker 2: to watch it.
- 37:10Speaker 1: Yeah, why?
- 37:11Speaker 2: Fuck, is that bad? I should start watching the whole video.
- 37:14Speaker 1: No, I don't listen to my podcast. Really?
- 37:17Speaker 3: No.
- 37:18Speaker 2: No, that'd be weird.
- 37:19Speaker 1: Yeah, and you would just be sitting there forever and
- 37:21Speaker 1: then if people see you listening to it. Sometimes I'll
- 37:24Speaker 1: feel bad like I'm in the airport editing it or something.
- 37:27Speaker 1: And I'll see someone if they see my computer and like, oh, God,
- 37:30Speaker 1: it's sad. Theo listens to his own podcast.
- 37:33Speaker 2: You think so?
- 37:34Speaker 1: It makes me feel sad sometimes.
- 37:36Speaker 3: Right.
- 37:36Speaker 2: I feel weird. It's like it's not my business to
- 37:38Speaker 2: be watching it.
- 37:39Speaker 1: That's a good point. Right. It's your business to be
- 37:42Speaker 1: making it.
- 37:42Speaker 2: Exactly.
- 37:45Speaker 1: Yeah. So like, yeah, what are some collaborations? Because like
- 37:47Speaker 1: so collaborations so far you've had Co, Jelly Roll.
- 37:52Speaker 2: Diplopology.
- 37:53Speaker 1: Diplo, Polo G.
- 37:55Speaker 2: Maren Morris.
- 37:56Speaker 1: Maren Morris. That's a lot.
- 37:58Speaker 2: That's it.
- 38:00Speaker 1: People love collabs, I feel like.
- 38:01Speaker 2: I'm a collaborator. Really? I love collabs.
- 38:04Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 38:05Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 38:05Speaker 1: Do you prefer if it's with a male or woman?
- 38:07Speaker 2: I've only done one with a girl, but I think
- 38:09Speaker 2: I'd like to do more.
- 38:10Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 38:10Speaker 2: It depends on the song, you know?
- 38:12Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 38:13Speaker 2: You got to pick and choose wisely, you know?
- 38:15Speaker 1: And is that kind of the hard part? So do
- 38:18Speaker 1: somebody pitch you a collaborator first and then they pitch
- 38:21Speaker 1: you a song? Or how does that work? Or do
- 38:23Speaker 1: they pitch both you guys a song at the same time?
- 38:25Speaker 2: Well, since I write my stuff, it's like I'll make
- 38:27Speaker 2: a song and I always make it just for me.
- 38:30Speaker 2: I never like make it thinking about like this is
- 38:32Speaker 2: going to be a collab.
- 38:33Speaker 1: Right.
- 38:33Speaker 2: So I'll make it and then I'll just have to
- 38:35Speaker 2: delete my second verse.
- 38:37Speaker 1: Oh, and let them put something in because they have
- 38:39Speaker 1: to get to write their own stuff, huh? Yeah.
- 38:41Speaker 2: Most of the time. Especially if it's a guy because
- 38:43Speaker 2: like the perspective is normally different. You feel me?
- 38:46Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 38:46Speaker 2: Who would you collab with if you were a singer?
- 38:49Speaker 3: Oh, wow.
- 38:49Speaker 2: Would you be a singer? Or would you be like
- 38:51Speaker 2: a rapper?
- 38:52Speaker 1: Oh, I was hoping you were going to say dancer,
- 38:54Speaker 1: but I'll, oh, I don't know about a rapper.
- 38:58Speaker 2: If you had to start a music career right now?
- 39:03Speaker 1: You know what I would be? I would think I
- 39:04Speaker 1: would be like a country DJ kind of.
- 39:06Speaker 2: Okay. That's fire.
- 39:07Speaker 1: Because I don't think there are enough of those. Right.
- 39:09Speaker 1: What I hate is you go to EDM club or
- 39:11Speaker 1: something like that. You go to like a, you know,
- 39:13Speaker 1: even in Vegas, you got some of the nightclubs. A
- 39:15Speaker 1: lot of times it's like. You know, it's Diplo, John Summit, Chainsmokers,
- 39:19Speaker 1: all good stuff, right? Love, fun to go to, fun
- 39:22Speaker 1: to listen to. But they never have like that DJ
- 39:25Speaker 1: that's kind of like a country DJ, but the same place.
- 39:27Speaker 1: I feel like if you did like a country DJ.
- 39:30Speaker 1: in some of those places it would like people would
- 39:32Speaker 1: love that too.
- 39:32Speaker 2: You got a point you know I really feel like
- 39:34Speaker 2: there aren't enough of those it's crazy what are you
- 39:37Speaker 2: doing side hustle well.
- 39:39Speaker 1: Then I just think people would I think people would
- 39:42Speaker 1: be like what the fuck is this dude doing and
- 39:46Speaker 1: if it was bad it's like I'm already doing one
- 39:49Speaker 1: thing But if I could do something, oh, I know what,
- 39:51Speaker 1: I would be a Christmas singer.
- 39:53Speaker 2: You think so? You only sing at Christmas? Like caroler?
- 39:56Speaker 1: Yeah, maybe that way I only work one month out
- 39:58Speaker 1: of the year. And when they know when I show up,
- 40:01Speaker 1: it's business. No, not a caroler, dude. I'm not going
- 40:05Speaker 1: door to door.
- 40:05Speaker 2: What is a Christmas singer?
- 40:06Speaker 1: A Christmas singer is a dang good person that sings
- 40:09Speaker 1: Christmas and sings about Christmas, boy. Bells will be ringing,
- 40:14Speaker 1: that kind of stuff.
- 40:15Speaker 2: That was you. Don't fucking lie to me. That guy
- 40:17Speaker 2: was you.
- 40:18Speaker 1: That guy is a pervert, man.
- 40:20Speaker 2: You sing just like him.
- 40:21Speaker 1: No, that guy's a Pentecostal, and that guy's been through
- 40:23Speaker 1: a lot.
- 40:24Speaker 2: You're fucking with me right now. I know.
- 40:26Speaker 1: That's a great, but that guy's had a lot of
- 40:28Speaker 1: tough times in his life. Yeah, I would think, yeah,
- 40:32Speaker 1: I would probably be O'Jazz, maybe something like that.
- 40:37Speaker 2: Like Michael Buble? Yeah.
- 40:40Speaker 1: Yeah, and I would have like a cool name, too.
- 40:42Speaker 2: What would it be? You could have your name, I
- 40:45Speaker 2: feel like.
- 40:46Speaker 1: Theo Vaughn, maybe. I'd be like, oh, I'd have like
- 40:48Speaker 1: a name like Mystery or something like a stripper's name,
- 40:51Speaker 1: but for a man.
- 40:52Speaker 2: So like what?
- 40:53Speaker 1: Mystery would be my name.
- 40:54Speaker 2: That's good.
- 40:55Speaker 1: Mystery Jackson.
- 40:56Speaker 2: But it's for Christmas.
- 40:57Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 40:58Speaker 2: I like it.
- 40:59Speaker 1: And it would be called Mystery Toe, like mistletoe.
- 41:01Speaker 2: That's good. You've already thought this out. You've already thought
- 41:05Speaker 2: it out.
- 41:06Speaker 1: This is all horrible. We're supposed to be talking about you, Jessie.
- 41:09Speaker 1: So what else can we talk about here then? So
- 41:12Speaker 1: you have a new album that's coming out.
- 41:15Speaker 2: Yes, I do.
- 41:16Speaker 1: I do have a new album that's coming out. And
- 41:20Speaker 1: it's called? Damn, dude, you have vengeance towards men, huh?
- 41:24Speaker 2: Not all of them.
- 41:25Speaker 1: Really?
- 41:26Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 41:26Speaker 1: But there's a couple that really must have just.
- 41:29Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, somebody had to do it.
- 41:31Speaker 1: Yeah, somebody had to.
- 41:32Speaker 2: Somebody, yeah.
- 41:33Speaker 1: Somebody always has to break our heart, huh?
- 41:35Speaker 2: Damn, that happened to you?
- 41:37Speaker 1: Oh, I think it's happened to everybody. I think it's
- 41:38Speaker 1: one reason why so many people can like relate to
- 41:41Speaker 1: all types of things probably. It's kind of crazy that
- 41:44Speaker 1: we break each other's hearts, you know?
- 41:45Speaker 2: I know, and it's common.
- 41:46Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 41:47Speaker 2: And it does happen to everybody.
- 41:49Speaker 1: Dude, it's so crazy because, like, how you feel, your heart,
- 41:52Speaker 1: it's pretty important. And then you freaking, you're like, here
- 41:57Speaker 1: you go. And then everything is good for a little while.
- 42:01Speaker 1: And then we let each other down, you know?
- 42:04Speaker 2: Yeah. Fuck. I know. You're right.
- 42:07Speaker 1: When did you get your heart broken, you think? Even
- 42:10Speaker 1: a timeline. We don't need names.
- 42:12Speaker 2: I don't think it was really a, I mean, things
- 42:15Speaker 2: happen and you like go through things and you see things.
- 42:18Speaker 2: And I think it's more, with this album specifically, I
- 42:21Speaker 2: think it's more of like a buildup of things. Like
- 42:24Speaker 2: something set me off and then it just made me
- 42:26Speaker 2: think about everything else and I was just fucking angry.
- 42:29Speaker 2: And then that's, yeah.
- 42:31Speaker 1: And when you get angry, what do you do? You
- 42:33Speaker 1: go to a shooting range or anything like that?
- 42:34Speaker 2: That's exactly what I do. No, I'm just kidding. Oh.
- 42:37Speaker 2: I've never done it, but I want to try.
- 42:38Speaker 1: Shooting range?
- 42:39Speaker 2: Yeah, do you go?
- 42:40Speaker 1: I took a date one time to a shooting range.
- 42:42Speaker 2: It's an interesting place to do that.
- 42:44Speaker 1: It was. And it wasn't, here's what I realized as
- 42:46Speaker 1: I get there, I was trying to be cool and
- 42:48Speaker 1: stuff at front at the counter or whatever. And we
- 42:51Speaker 1: checked out a couple of guns. Dude, you can check
- 42:53Speaker 1: out guns. And then here's the crazy part. The guy's like,
- 42:56Speaker 1: all right, just here's your guns. Go in there, booth
- 42:59Speaker 1: four or whatever. And the guns are just sitting there.
- 43:02Speaker 1: And I was like, well, you didn't bring the guns
- 43:03Speaker 1: in there for us. And he's like, nah, you guys
- 43:05Speaker 1: bring them in. And he put them just like in
- 43:06Speaker 1: this little, like kind of like a bin they would
- 43:08Speaker 1: give you at the airport or whatever. So I'm like
- 43:10Speaker 1: carrying these two guns in there. And the girl's like,
- 43:13Speaker 1: this is cool. This is fun. And then I didn't
- 43:16Speaker 1: know what to do. No one had ever taught me
- 43:17Speaker 1: how to use a gun or anything.
- 43:18Speaker 2: They didn't teach you?
- 43:19Speaker 1: Huh? No, they ask you if you know.
- 43:21Speaker 2: And you lied? Yeah. Why would you lie about that?
- 43:23Speaker 2: That's a fucking crazy thing to lie about.
- 43:26Speaker 1: Well, I had to impress this chick, bro. And so
- 43:29Speaker 1: I'm in there and I was like, oh, use yours first.
- 43:32Speaker 2: Did she know?
- 43:33Speaker 1: She didn't. Apparently she didn't know either.
- 43:34Speaker 2: Well, you're so fine.
- 43:36Speaker 1: Well, yeah, but she should know, dude. You know, because
- 43:39Speaker 1: women need to be able to defend themselves or whatever.
- 43:42Speaker 1: And so I was like, use your gun. And she's like,
- 43:46Speaker 1: I don't know how to use a gun, you know.
- 43:47Speaker 1: And then I realized, like, oh, shit, I don't know
- 43:49Speaker 1: how to use a gun. And so I picked it up.
- 43:52Speaker 1: And then I realized you're in there and there's other people.
- 43:54Speaker 1: You could shoot anybody if you want.
- 43:56Speaker 2: I've never been in. What does it look like?
- 43:58Speaker 1: It's like. Could you really? Oh, 100%.
- 44:02Speaker 2: There's no, like, walls?
- 44:03Speaker 1: Oh, there's wall, but like you're facing your target and
- 44:05Speaker 1: there's a wall on the side of you, but right
- 44:07Speaker 1: around the edge of the wall is just the next
- 44:09Speaker 1: person shooting. Really? So you could literally, like if you
- 44:12Speaker 1: hated somebody, you could just shoot over that way.
- 44:14Speaker 2: You think that happens a lot? I, I. You think
- 44:16Speaker 2: that's a common thing?
- 44:18Speaker 1: I don't know, but I just hope it doesn't. I
- 44:21Speaker 1: was amazed they gave us these guns. So then I said, look,
- 44:25Speaker 1: I'm going to be honest with you. Let's go back
- 44:27Speaker 1: to the front to talk to the guy. I said,
- 44:28Speaker 1: I think these guns.
- 44:29Speaker 2: You hit a double back. That's bad. That's so bad.
- 44:33Speaker 1: I said, I think these guns are broken. That's what
- 44:35Speaker 1: I told him.
- 44:35Speaker 2: That's what you said.
- 44:37Speaker 1: And so we went back and like he gave us
- 44:39Speaker 1: some kind of like easier guns to use or whatever.
- 44:41Speaker 1: And it was pretty fun.
- 44:42Speaker 2: So you just picked some complicated.
- 44:44Speaker 1: I picked like some SIG, some SIG, what's a gun called? SIG. SIG.
- 44:52Speaker 1: Bring it up. SIG SAR.
- 44:56Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 44:56Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, it was just, it was fine, but it
- 44:59Speaker 1: was just a lot. But after that, I learned how
- 45:01Speaker 1: to use a firearm, they call it.
- 45:04Speaker 2: And now you know.
- 45:04Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 45:05Speaker 2: And you could do it at any time.
- 45:07Speaker 1: Yeah. And I live in Tennessee. It's a state where
- 45:09Speaker 1: you can.
- 45:10Speaker 2: Damn, you live there?
- 45:11Speaker 1: You can do what you got to do, yeah. I
- 45:12Speaker 1: live in Nashville.
- 45:13Speaker 2: You can?
- 45:13Speaker 1: Damn, really?
- 45:14Speaker 2: Yeah. I used to live there.
- 45:16Speaker 1: You did?
- 45:16Speaker 2: Good place.
- 45:17Speaker 1: Do you miss it or not?
- 45:19Speaker 2: I do. I just moved like two weeks ago.
- 45:21Speaker 1: Where'd you move to, LA?
- 45:22Speaker 2: Santa Monica, yeah.
- 45:23Speaker 1: No way. You're by the beach, yo.
- 45:25Speaker 2: Damn. I really like it. But I do miss Nashville.
- 45:27Speaker 1: Yeah. Well, it's such a different world.
- 45:29Speaker 2: It's so different.
- 45:30Speaker 1: I mean, Nashville is so quiet.
- 45:32Speaker 2: You think so?
- 45:33Speaker 1: I think so.
- 45:33Speaker 2: I don't think so.
- 45:34Speaker 1: Really?
- 45:34Speaker 2: I think it's loud. It depends on where you live, though. Yeah.
- 45:39Speaker 1: I mean, I just live in kind of like a
- 45:40Speaker 1: regular neighborhood, I guess.
- 45:42Speaker 2: You're in the suburbs?
- 45:43Speaker 1: No.
- 45:44Speaker 2: Okay.
- 45:44Speaker 1: I'm in the city.
- 45:45Speaker 2: Okay.
- 45:46Speaker 1: I would get out in the suburbs. I've been looking
- 45:48Speaker 1: at some houses, but I've just been touring so much
- 45:49Speaker 1: and here sometimes that I'm like, if I bought a
- 45:54Speaker 1: different house, I wouldn't be able to be there to
- 45:55Speaker 1: live in it.
- 45:56Speaker 2: I feel you. I feel you so heavily. Yeah.
- 46:01Speaker 1: So, Dirty, that's the new single off of the album? Yeah.
- 46:04Speaker 1: And the album's called If These Men Come Around, I'ma
- 46:07Speaker 1: Kill Them.
- 46:07Speaker 2: What's it called again? That's exactly what it's called. Okay.
- 46:10Speaker 1: Okay. Damn, that somehow is almost even worse. You'd almost
- 46:14Speaker 1: rather have somebody shoot you than to say you were
- 46:16Speaker 1: the devil, you know?
- 46:17Speaker 2: Damn, you think that's really bad? What?
- 46:20Speaker 1: To shoot somebody?
- 46:21Speaker 2: Well, yeah.
- 46:21Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 46:22Speaker 2: No, no, no. That's bad, right?
- 46:24Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 46:24Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 46:25Speaker 1: The name of the album? Yeah. I think it's bad. Yeah. No,
- 46:27Speaker 1: I think it's good.
- 46:28Speaker 2: That's good.
- 46:28Speaker 1: I think it fits you.
- 46:29Speaker 2: It actually makes me really happy that you think it's bad.
- 46:32Speaker 1: Right.
- 46:32Speaker 2: I haven't really told it to any, like, men yet.
- 46:34Speaker 1: Really? Yeah.
- 46:35Speaker 2: But I love your reaction, though.
- 46:37Speaker 1: Thanks.
- 46:37Speaker 2: Makes me feel good.
- 46:38Speaker 1: Damn. Yeah, you are, you got the dark arts in you,
- 46:43Speaker 1: I think. You know? And that's okay. Maybe you were
- 46:46Speaker 1: a Halloween baby. Do you have a first single off
- 46:51Speaker 1: of it?
- 46:51Speaker 2: I do. The song that just came out, The Dirty,
- 46:53Speaker 2: with Teddy Swims.
- 46:54Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, with Teddy Swim.
- 46:56Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 46:57Speaker 1: He's such a– I saw this great TikTok of him
- 47:01Speaker 1: the other day. Somebody was singing on the street, and
- 47:04Speaker 1: then he walked up and sang with them.
- 47:05Speaker 2: I know what you're talking about. So good.
- 47:07Speaker 1: Find that up if you can. Teddy Swim.
- 47:09Speaker 2: Craziest voice ever.
- 47:10Speaker 1: Something's got a hold on me lately. No, I don't
- 47:16Speaker 1: know myself anymore.
- 47:19Speaker 2: Damn, I haven't even seen this one. Feels like the
- 47:23Speaker 2: walls are all closed.
- 47:25Speaker 1: I don't know. How many times, how many times did
- 47:34Speaker 1: I tell you I'm no good at being alone? Get
- 47:39Speaker 1: out of town.
- 47:41Speaker 2: Yeah, you have to join me. Really?
- 47:43Speaker 1: You got to join me. Damn.
- 47:57Speaker 2: That was insane.
- 48:00Speaker 1: She just realized I'm out of a job. Wow. Was
- 48:11Speaker 1: that so cool? That's great, Nick. Thanks. Was that pretty
- 48:14Speaker 1: wonderful to get to? What was it like when you
- 48:17Speaker 1: first met him?
- 48:18Speaker 2: So crazy. He has one of the best voices ever.
- 48:22Speaker 1: Oh, it sounds like he has a thousand years just
- 48:23Speaker 1: trapped inside of him.
- 48:24Speaker 2: That's a great way to describe it. I like that
- 48:26Speaker 2: a lot, actually.
- 48:27Speaker 1: Like somebody just screaming through a fucking wishing well of beauty.
- 48:31Speaker 2: A hundred percent. Yeah, it just sounds like he's like hurting.
- 48:35Speaker 1: Yeah, it's like... It's Chris Stapleton-y. Wow, it is, huh?
- 48:40Speaker 2: Yeah, right? I'd say so.
- 48:42Speaker 1: Yeah, a hundred percent. Yeah, it's Chris Stapleton-y. Dude, I
- 48:45Speaker 1: went and saw John Mayer recently. I went and saw
- 48:48Speaker 1: The Grateful Dead and Company and John Mayer is... plays
- 48:51Speaker 1: with them. And sometimes he'll hit a note and it
- 48:55Speaker 1: feels like he's like trying to find like the exact
- 48:59Speaker 1: note that will like take us all to like the
- 49:01Speaker 1: end of time or something.
- 49:02Speaker 2: I feel like he's specifically good at that.
- 49:04Speaker 1: Yeah. He's just like, he just rides that thing.
- 49:07Speaker 2: Exactly what he does.
- 49:08Speaker 1: He's just such a crazy boy. And then these, here's
- 49:12Speaker 1: a couple of Viettes right here. Bring them up. And
- 49:18Speaker 1: this is Janmer.
- 49:19Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 49:21Speaker 1: Damn, this fucking kid is ripping, bro. Full allowance this week.
- 49:30Speaker 1: Look at his.
- 49:35Speaker 2: Face. His face.
- 49:38Speaker 1: How does he even know how to feel all this?
- 49:45Speaker 2: I got a game on tour right now.
- 49:46Speaker 1: This kid could also be 40 years old, dude. We
- 49:50Speaker 1: don't know what's going on, bro. Unreal if that's a
- 49:53Speaker 1: real person and not AI. Okay, so the new album.
- 49:58Speaker 1: What's like? Tell me about it then. Well... Are there
- 50:02Speaker 1: new collaborations on this album? Are there people, and did
- 50:05Speaker 1: you reach out to them? How did it come about?
- 50:07Speaker 1: What happened? Take me there, Miss Murph.
- 50:09Speaker 2: I'm going to take you there. Okay. So, first and foremost,
- 50:13Speaker 2: the Teddy collab. I had this song, Dirty, that I
- 50:17Speaker 2: made probably about a year ago today. And I posted it,
- 50:21Speaker 2: and it went viral. And I was just about to
- 50:23Speaker 2: drop it. And then Drake texts me. He slides into
- 50:28Speaker 2: my DMs.
- 50:29Speaker 1: Damn.
- 50:30Speaker 2: And he was like, You trying to let me get
- 50:32Speaker 2: on dirty.
- 50:33Speaker 1: Really?
- 50:33Speaker 2: Is that a euphemism? What does that mean?
- 50:36Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't know what he's into.
- 50:38Speaker 2: What do you mean?
- 50:39Speaker 1: What was he saying? Was he flirting, you think, or
- 50:41Speaker 1: he was asking about music?
- 50:42Speaker 2: No, it's about music.
- 50:43Speaker 1: Okay.
- 50:43Speaker 2: And I was so excited because I love Drake, big
- 50:45Speaker 2: Drake fan. I think he's incredible.
- 50:47Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 50:50Speaker 2: So that happened, and I was kind of just waiting
- 50:53Speaker 2: on that. And it was some back and forth, and
- 50:55Speaker 2: then it just ended up not working. It disappeared.
- 50:57Speaker 1: It disappeared.
- 50:58Speaker 2: Yeah, it just didn't happen.
- 51:00Speaker 1: Wow, that had to be freaking amazing. Were you scared
- 51:02Speaker 1: to write back? How long after you saw his message?
- 51:05Speaker 1: This is the question. How long after you saw, okay,
- 51:07Speaker 1: Drake sent you a freaking message, and you're like, how
- 51:10Speaker 1: long do you wait to even open it?
- 51:12Speaker 2: I don't know. I was definitely freaking out. He's one
- 51:15Speaker 2: of my favorite songwriters in general.
- 51:18Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. It's like if somebody from the Bible sent
- 51:20Speaker 1: you a message or something.
- 51:21Speaker 2: He's so good.
- 51:22Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 51:23Speaker 2: But I don't, yeah, no, I was definitely freaked. I
- 51:25Speaker 2: was like, what do I, how do you do that?
- 51:27Speaker 1: What do I do? Do I even wear something nice
- 51:29Speaker 1: to text him to message him back?
- 51:30Speaker 2: Is that how you felt?
- 51:32Speaker 1: I mean, I was like a little like, I don't
- 51:34Speaker 1: know what to, I didn't know what I thought. Yeah,
- 51:36Speaker 1: I was like, hey, I definitely asked a couple people.
- 51:39Speaker 1: I was kind of.
- 51:40Speaker 2: No, 100%.
- 51:40Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 51:41Speaker 2: You have to.
- 51:42Speaker 1: Like, what do you say to, yeah.
- 51:44Speaker 2: No, 100%.
- 51:45Speaker 1: And so then you wrote him back?
- 51:47Speaker 2: No, I did write him back. But anyways, it didn't happen,
- 51:50Speaker 2: but it made me realize that I did want I
- 51:52Speaker 2: wanted somebody on the song. I wanted it to be
- 51:54Speaker 2: two people. And I was like, fuck, well, who should
- 51:58Speaker 2: it be? Who could it be?
- 51:59Speaker 1: Even though you'd just written it for you.
- 52:01Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 52:02Speaker 1: Right. That's cool, though.
- 52:03Speaker 2: I just wanted it, you know? He really made me realize, like,
- 52:07Speaker 2: this song would be sick as a collab. So I
- 52:09Speaker 2: was like, who should do it? So I asked my fans.
- 52:14Speaker 2: I just, like, asked TikTok, and they were like, I
- 52:16Speaker 2: got an overwhelming response of Teddy Swims.
- 52:19Speaker 1: Really?
- 52:19Speaker 2: And once I saw that, I was like, oh, my God,
- 52:20Speaker 2: a fucking chorus. Dude, it's crazy. So I hit him
- 52:25Speaker 2: up and he like did a verse and it's incredible.
- 52:28Speaker 2: So that's how that happened. And then I also have
- 52:31Speaker 2: a club with Bailey Zimmerman.
- 52:33Speaker 1: No way.
- 52:35Speaker 2: Really?
- 52:36Speaker 1: Bro, his energy is strong.
- 52:40Speaker 2: Strong.
- 52:40Speaker 1: He brings energy, man. That guy is– he's his own
- 52:45Speaker 1: fucking thing. He's like almost like somebody cut a power
- 52:48Speaker 1: cable and it's just fucking– that one that's just like
- 52:50Speaker 1: that on the street, you know? Like the city hasn't
- 52:52Speaker 1: come to fucking clamp it down or whatever yet, you know?
- 52:55Speaker 2: 100%.
- 52:56Speaker 1: I love his energy as always. Anytime you're around him,
- 52:58Speaker 1: you feel like kind of like just lifted up, you know?
- 53:01Speaker 2: 100%. That's a great way to describe it. Yeah, he's
- 53:06Speaker 2: a crazy, crazy character.
- 53:08Speaker 1: And he just started even playing music I think like
- 53:10Speaker 1: five years ago or something.
- 53:11Speaker 2: Yeah, it was really recent, right?
- 53:13Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 53:14Speaker 2: Which is wild.
- 53:15Speaker 1: It's crazy.
- 53:16Speaker 2: What did he do before he did like?
- 53:18Speaker 1: I don't know. Somebody said I think he was in
- 53:19Speaker 1: lawn care or something.
- 53:21Speaker 2: Yeah, something like that.
- 53:22Speaker 1: So it's like, wow.
- 53:23Speaker 2: Wow, what a 360. Yeah. Let's see. This is so helpful.
- 53:28Speaker 1: Lawn care is dangerous. Swims. Teddy Swims grew up in Conyers,
- 53:31Speaker 1: Georgia over there. His father introduced him to soul music
- 53:34Speaker 1: at an early age. Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, and Al Green.
- 53:38Speaker 1: Swims' family were American football enthusiasts. He had been playing
- 53:40Speaker 1: American football for 10 years. during his second year at
- 53:44Speaker 1: Salem High School. He must have been held back then.
- 53:46Speaker 1: He played for 10 years in high school.
- 53:49Speaker 2: Jesus.
- 53:50Speaker 1: No judgment, dude. I did two years in sixth grade.
- 53:55Speaker 2: Did you actually?
- 53:56Speaker 1: Yeah. It never leaves your system.
- 53:58Speaker 2: What happened?
- 53:58Speaker 1: Mom said they needed me back.
- 54:00Speaker 2: Really?
- 54:00Speaker 1: She said they wanted me back.
- 54:01Speaker 2: Did you fail?
- 54:03Speaker 1: I wouldn't say failed. I would say, yeah, we had
- 54:04Speaker 1: some disagreements maybe on the invoice at the end of
- 54:08Speaker 1: the year. But, yeah, you know, that's what we did. Yeah,
- 54:14Speaker 1: Teddy's so magical, huh? You know, that's one thing that's
- 54:17Speaker 1: amazing about TikTok is just how many artists you can find,
- 54:21Speaker 1: you know?
- 54:22Speaker 2: So many talented people on there.
- 54:23Speaker 1: And there's like things that'll come across like, I know
- 54:27Speaker 1: you had Maddox Batson on your show. He came on
- 54:29Speaker 1: the podcast. And I just saw like his videos and
- 54:31Speaker 1: people would tag me in them and be like, oh, Theo,
- 54:33Speaker 1: this looks like you when you were a kid or
- 54:35Speaker 1: this reminds me of you. And so then next thing
- 54:37Speaker 1: you know, like he showed up and we went for
- 54:39Speaker 1: a ride. I got a Cybertruck. We went for a
- 54:41Speaker 1: ride in it. And just ridiculous, you know. And we
- 54:45Speaker 1: got to listen to, like, his first new song. Yeah,
- 54:49Speaker 1: he's so.
- 54:50Speaker 2: He's such a sweet kid.
- 54:51Speaker 1: He is. He's always, like, so just. Oh, that's his
- 54:55Speaker 1: mom right there, too. She's pretty vibey, but she's married. But, yeah,
- 55:00Speaker 1: that was him, man. We had a nice time. But, yeah,
- 55:02Speaker 1: that's one thing. It's like, oh, you can hear a
- 55:04Speaker 1: lot of. You can just hear, like, a lot of
- 55:07Speaker 1: new artists. People can break through really quick.
- 55:09Speaker 2: A hundred percent. Like that situation is crazy. So young.
- 55:12Speaker 2: I know. What is he like? He's like 13.
- 55:14Speaker 1: Yeah. I mean, that would be so scary.
- 55:16Speaker 2: That's a crazy.
- 55:17Speaker 1: Cause then it's like, I don't think you develop any
- 55:19Speaker 1: of your own like thoughts or real like, or not thoughts,
- 55:21Speaker 1: but yeah, no fucking adolescent or whatever it's called.
- 55:24Speaker 2: A hundred percent. And he's also going to, he's going
- 55:26Speaker 2: to be so massive.
- 55:27Speaker 1: Yeah. It's like people compare him to Justin Bieber all
- 55:29Speaker 1: the time.
- 55:30Speaker 2: A hundred percent.
- 55:31Speaker 1: So that's also tough because you're like, how does he
- 55:33Speaker 1: just be himself?
- 55:34Speaker 2: He seems to be good at it though. I really
- 55:36Speaker 2: do feel like he's like made for it.
- 55:38Speaker 1: You know what? That's kind of funny. Yeah, he kind
- 55:40Speaker 1: of just acts already like he's a star.
- 55:42Speaker 2: He does. He just has that about him.
- 55:44Speaker 1: Yeah, he just fits in. Like it's okay with him.
- 55:46Speaker 1: He doesn't even second guess it.
- 55:47Speaker 2: No. That's also a thing of being so young though.
- 55:49Speaker 2: I don't think it's like it registers really. He probably
- 55:52Speaker 2: doesn't really like– it doesn't feel like it's crazy just
- 55:55Speaker 2: because you're young I feel like.
- 55:56Speaker 1: Right, because also I think at that age you feel
- 55:57Speaker 1: like almost all kids probably feel like a star anyway
- 56:00Speaker 1: because you're like just that vibrant, crazy energy.
- 56:02Speaker 2: It's just that age. Yeah, right. So he's just like– no,
- 56:05Speaker 2: but he's great, dude.
- 56:07Speaker 1: Yeah, that was pretty cool. I'm trying to think of
- 56:09Speaker 1: who else that I'll follow or listen to.
- 56:11Speaker 2: Yeah, who's your, like, favorite artist? Who do you listen to?
- 56:13Speaker 1: Right now I listen to Red Clay Strays so much.
- 56:15Speaker 1: Have you heard of them?
- 56:16Speaker 2: Yo, so fucking good.
- 56:18Speaker 1: She comes from silver skies golden.
- 56:21Speaker 3: Wow.
- 56:23Speaker 2: I know that was you.
- 56:24Speaker 1: I fucking know it was you. Yeah, God, they're good, dude.
- 56:28Speaker 1: And they have, after when I'm leaving stage, that's a
- 56:32Speaker 1: song that we play all the time. They got that song.
- 56:35Speaker 2: That's your walkout track?
- 56:36Speaker 1: I just want to be loved. They remind me of
- 56:40Speaker 1: like the Beatles. They remind me of Aerosmith a little bit.
- 56:43Speaker 1: My walkout track on, yeah, when I'm leaving. I can't
- 56:45Speaker 1: remember what it's called.
- 56:47Speaker 2: I love that you love them. They're so good.
- 56:49Speaker 1: God, they're so good. They're from down near you. They're
- 56:51Speaker 1: from Mobile.
- 56:52Speaker 2: No, I didn't even know that. That checks out.
- 56:55Speaker 1: They're from Mobile.
- 56:55Speaker 2: That really checks out.
- 56:58Speaker 1: I met you like two years ago. Yeah. We met
- 57:01Speaker 1: at your agent's house.
- 57:03Speaker 2: A and R.
- 57:04Speaker 1: A & R. Yep. And your brother was there. Your
- 57:08Speaker 1: brother writes with you, is that right?
- 57:10Speaker 2: Yeah, he tours with me.
- 57:12Speaker 1: He tours with you. He's a guitarist.
- 57:13Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 57:14Speaker 1: Nice. So was he like part of some of your,
- 57:17Speaker 1: like how did that, did you have to incorporate him?
- 57:20Speaker 1: Did he have to audition or it was just like
- 57:22Speaker 1: it's a two-person deal? It's a two-piece.
- 57:24Speaker 2: We always just kind of like played together. Like he's
- 57:27Speaker 2: always just been obsessed with guitar and he writes too.
- 57:29Speaker 2: He's incredible. But just growing up, that's just what we did.
- 57:33Speaker 2: So it just felt natural, I feel like. And it's
- 57:35Speaker 2: so nice to have him on the road.
- 57:37Speaker 1: Is it? Yeah.
- 57:38Speaker 2: You know?
- 57:39Speaker 1: Why? Because you get to do things together?
- 57:40Speaker 2: Yeah. It's just like also a sense of like home
- 57:44Speaker 2: and family.
- 57:45Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 57:46Speaker 2: Yeah. He's a real country dude.
- 57:49Speaker 1: Are you guys pretty close? Yeah.
- 57:51Speaker 2: I'd say so. You have siblings? Yeah.
- 57:53Speaker 1: I got three siblings. They're pretty good. My sister's a
- 57:56Speaker 1: nurse now. Damn. Wow. And I'm like, Jesus, dude. I
- 58:00Speaker 1: would not let her go near me.
- 58:03Speaker 2: Why?
- 58:04Speaker 1: I just... I couldn't imagine. She's like, if I pulled up,
- 58:09Speaker 1: I was like hurt or something. She's like, I'm going
- 58:11Speaker 1: to help you. I'll be like, get the fuck away
- 58:12Speaker 1: from me. Really? I mean, I think she's probably educated.
- 58:15Speaker 1: You know, she knows what she's doing, but I wouldn't
- 58:17Speaker 1: let her.
- 58:17Speaker 2: She's got to.
- 58:19Speaker 1: And she can prescribe pills and stuff now.
- 58:21Speaker 2: Damn.
- 58:23Speaker 1: So.
- 58:24Speaker 2: I mean.
- 58:24Speaker 1: We'll see what happens. Okay, so what else on the album?
- 58:28Speaker 1: And then how far after do you tour? Do you
- 58:30Speaker 1: have a release strategy? Do you start to strategize more
- 58:33Speaker 1: these days with social media? Or do you feel like
- 58:36Speaker 1: you do things kind of whimsical? Or do you have
- 58:41Speaker 1: almost a calendar where you know when you're going to
- 58:43Speaker 1: put out what?
- 58:43Speaker 2: I feel like, yeah, strategizing is a big part of it.
- 58:49Speaker 2: That's another part that really overwhelms me. I don't want
- 58:51Speaker 2: to do that. I just want to put out the
- 58:53Speaker 2: music and then step away.
- 58:55Speaker 1: You always seem very like on your socials, it always
- 58:57Speaker 1: seems like super just you kind of having a good time,
- 59:02Speaker 1: like just, you know, singing some of the bars of
- 59:05Speaker 1: the songs and that's it. You know, it just feels,
- 59:07Speaker 1: it feels like you're just at home just doing it.
- 59:10Speaker 1: you want, you know? Yeah.
- 59:11Speaker 2: That's how I'd like to keep it. But you do
- 59:13Speaker 2: have to like think about when you're going to do
- 59:15Speaker 2: this and when you're going to do that and why
- 59:16Speaker 2: you're doing, you know? But I hate that stuff. It
- 59:18Speaker 2: really freaks me out.
- 59:19Speaker 1: Yeah? Yeah.
- 59:20Speaker 2: Anything that's too planned freaks me out, I think.
- 59:22Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 59:23Speaker 2: You know?
- 59:25Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 59:25Speaker 1: Well, once you start, and I start noticing too, it's like, well,
- 59:27Speaker 1: let's do this and do the edit. And it's the
- 59:29Speaker 1: second you start to feel that it's becoming too edited,
- 59:32Speaker 1: I can already tell it's not going to be good. 100%.
- 59:34Speaker 1: Or it's not going to be real, you know?
- 59:36Speaker 2: That's a great, yeah, no.
- 59:39Speaker 1: First of all, I'd like to say thank you to
- 59:41Speaker 1: Dan Morgan and everyone over at Morgan & Morgan. We
- 59:46Speaker 1: had an issue with Kai the Hitchhiker, and he filed
- 59:49Speaker 1: a lawsuit against us, and he made quite a hullabaloo.

- 1:00:51Speaker 1: This is a paid advertisement. So now you're living in L.A. Yeah. Wow.
- 1:00:57Speaker 2: I know. I never thought I was going to move ever.
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: Ever. Really?
- 1:01:00Speaker 2: Yeah, because I love this.
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: From where? You moved from Nashville to L.A.? Yeah.
- 1:01:03Speaker 2: I just love the South so much.
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:01:05Speaker 2: And I don't know. I was never like a big
- 1:01:07Speaker 2: fan of L.A., honestly.
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:01:09Speaker 2: But now I'm here.
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: And how did you, and first you moved to Athens
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: to Nashville?
- 1:01:15Speaker 2: Athens, Huntsville to Athens, to Athens to Huntsville to Nashville
- 1:01:19Speaker 2: to L.A.
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: Okay. And why'd you move out of Athens?
- 1:01:23Speaker 2: It was just really, like I said, I went to
- 1:01:25Speaker 2: middle school and high school there. Um, and it was really,
- 1:01:28Speaker 2: really small and super conservative, like so conservative.
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: Really? It's in the Bible belt?
- 1:01:34Speaker 2: Like heavy Bible belt. And I like.
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: Were you with the church?
- 1:01:39Speaker 2: Um, yeah, I like sang at church for a little bit,
- 1:01:43Speaker 2: but I, I cuss a lot in my songs and shit.
- 1:01:47Speaker 2: And that was like a really big deal there. Um,
- 1:01:52Speaker 2: especially when me doing cheer was like really serious. They
- 1:01:55Speaker 2: would like make me like run laps. if I posted
- 1:01:57Speaker 2: something and there was a cuss word in it. I
- 1:01:59Speaker 2: would have to run miles for every cuss word.
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: Really, at school?
- 1:02:02Speaker 2: Yeah, public school, too, which is just fucked. But then
- 1:02:08Speaker 2: the guys could do it, which is fucked.
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. Most of the guys are allowed to curse
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: in the South, but women are mostly more for pregnancy.
- 1:02:18Speaker 2: No, 100%. That's exactly what they were trying to say.
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: Pregnancy and recipes. Those used to be the big women things. 100%.
- 1:02:27Speaker 2: Did you have the baby class at high school?
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: The men didn't have to do it. We had to
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: do wood shop or whatever.
- 1:02:34Speaker 2: But the girls had a baby class?
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: The girls had a baby class.
- 1:02:38Speaker 2: Is that everywhere?
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: Babies and then I think the second semester was, I
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: want to say, omelets.
- 1:02:44Speaker 2: No.
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: Or breakfast. Babies and breakfast.
- 1:02:46Speaker 2: Are you serious?
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:02:47Speaker 2: That's the class?
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: I mean, look, dude. That's how you keep a family together.
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: You don't have babies or breakfast. Some guys took it.
- 1:02:56Speaker 2: You were allowed to take it?
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: Yeah, some guys did. Home economics courses often consist of
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: learning how to cook, how to do taxes, and how
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: to perform childcare tasks. That's fair.
- 1:03:06Speaker 2: That's fair, but yeah, I feel like guys should do
- 1:03:08Speaker 2: that too though, no?
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: Yeah, some guys, yeah. We had wood shop. You had
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: to learn how to build a birdhouse.
- 1:03:13Speaker 2: That's fun.
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: How to build a, how to like de-hoof a horse
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: or whatever. A couple different stuff we had to learn.
- 1:03:18Speaker 2: You really had to learn how to do that?
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:03:19Speaker 2: That's some Kentucky stuff, right?
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: They had a farrier come and he would show us
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: how to do the thing.
- 1:03:23Speaker 2: Have you ever had to do it?
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: I'm like, dude, I don't even– I'm fucking– I can
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: barely like a– like we get one pair of Reeboks
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: a year, dude. If I do this to my shoes,
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: mom's going to fucking– mom's going to drive over my
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: legs with her car, dude.
- 1:03:38Speaker 2: How often do you think people use that stuff? Do
- 1:03:40Speaker 2: you ever think about that how like you're never really
- 1:03:43Speaker 2: using anything you learned in school?
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 1:03:45Speaker 2: What are you using?
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: I think the stuff we should teach kids is like, hey,
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: how do you be nice to somebody else? How do
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: you recognize maybe if somebody else is having a tough day?
- 1:03:53Speaker 2: Like emotional intelligence.
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:03:55Speaker 2: And it's so, it's scarce. You don't even realize how
- 1:03:58Speaker 2: scarce it is.
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: Emotional intelligence?
- 1:04:01Speaker 2: Fuck yeah. 100%, especially I think with my generation. Really? Yeah, 100%.
- 1:04:05Speaker 2: There's just like a lack of like depth.
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: Is there really, do you feel like less of an
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: interaction in your generation?
- 1:04:11Speaker 2: Fuck yeah. I mean for everybody right now though. And
- 1:04:14Speaker 2: I think just because of like, I mean it's because
- 1:04:17Speaker 2: of social media. But like it's weird because we're so
- 1:04:20Speaker 2: connected but we're so disconnected.
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: Yeah. Young adulthood is no longer one of life's happiest times.
- 1:04:27Speaker 2: People are sad. People are really sad.
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: That's why though. I wonder.
- 1:04:30Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: Why do you notice? Cause you have a lot of
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: fans that are kind of like, you know, you do
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: touch on that space of like, I want to feel something,
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: you know? Yeah.
- 1:04:38Speaker 2: No, I don't know why. I do think it's because
- 1:04:41Speaker 2: of like, you're spending hours a day, like on a
- 1:04:44Speaker 2: phone and you're seeing all these things and it's, you're
- 1:04:46Speaker 2: not meant to see that much. I don't think as
- 1:04:48Speaker 2: a human.
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:04:49Speaker 2: And you see it and you're like, Then your brain
- 1:04:51Speaker 2: is just going crazy. And then you compare yourself to– Oh,
- 1:04:54Speaker 2: that's the truth. You know, everybody does it. I think
- 1:04:56Speaker 2: even adults do that now. But I think it's really
- 1:05:00Speaker 2: damaging for people like in high school and middle school.
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: Well, you compare yourself so much. And here's one thing
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: I realized. It's like you may love somebody, right? But
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: then if you see a thousand pictures of other– that
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: are not even real. Like they've been adjusted or filtered.
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: Then you see those. Then you're going to think, oh,
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: this– You can't help but feel some attraction to some
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: of it. Really?
- 1:05:25Speaker 2: You think so?
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: I think sometimes it's hard because the phone isn't playing fair.
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: It's like if there's filters and stuff, that's not even
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: the real person or the lighting isn't real.
- 1:05:34Speaker 2: You're getting tricked.
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: Right. You're getting tricked. But we're all getting tricked into
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: thinking that there's something better out there.
- 1:05:39Speaker 2: That's fucked up. In relationships, it's fucked up too.
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:05:42Speaker 2: You know how many relationships end probably because of that?
- 1:05:45Speaker 2: So many Snapchat. You know how many relationships end because
- 1:05:48Speaker 2: of Snapchat? You got Snapchat?
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: Yeah. I have Snapchat. I don't use it. Don't use it.
- 1:05:52Speaker 2: I do not use it.
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: It's not good for you.
- 1:05:55Speaker 2: Don't even do it. I'm using it.
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: I'll never use it.
- 1:05:57Speaker 2: Don't even do it.
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: I wouldn't.
- 1:05:58Speaker 2: Don't do it.
- 1:05:59Speaker 1: Well, I will not. Yeah, but I don't even know. Yeah,
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: people are, and sometimes, now, a couple years ago, I
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: would look at Snapchat, but sometimes you would open it up,
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: and there would just be like a dang cooter or
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: something in there.
- 1:06:14Speaker 2: That happens to you. Yeah. That's such a thing.
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: You're like, what is going on?
- 1:06:18Speaker 2: Untelicited content.
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: Yes, and you're like, what is happening or something? And
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: it would be like, come to Memphis or something.
- 1:06:24Speaker 2: Somebody you don't know?
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: You're like, dear God.
- 1:06:26Speaker 2: These are your friends on Snapchat?
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: I don't know who these people are. Well, that's the
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: crazy thing on Snapchat is you have no idea who
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: the fucking person is.
- 1:06:34Speaker 2: What are you talking about? You should. It should be
- 1:06:36Speaker 2: your friends. You probably added them.
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, then I don't know how I got. I
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: don't know because there's like 70 people that can send
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: me stuff, and I don't know any of them, and
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: I don't know how they're able to yet.
- 1:06:45Speaker 2: How did you get them on there?
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: Maybe when I first started, I might have hit the
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: wrong button.
- 1:06:49Speaker 2: To where you can allow anything. That's how you get
- 1:06:51Speaker 2: unsolicited dick pics.
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: Really?
- 1:06:52Speaker 2: Yes.
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: Well, I don't get any dick pics. Actually, dude, I
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: have gotten a couple.
- 1:06:56Speaker 2: I know you've gotten one.
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: There's some guys from Scotland who are always doing blow
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: and sending dick pics to me.
- 1:07:01Speaker 2: It's just Scotland guys?
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 1:07:03Speaker 2: That's really niche.
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: They either sound Scottish or they've done so much blow
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: that they just can't speak English.
- 1:07:08Speaker 2: There's audio.
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: Yeah, there's audio, too.
- 1:07:09Speaker 2: On the dick pics? What are you talking about?
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: Yeah, dude. You think I want a dick pic with
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: no audio, dude? What are you talking about? Just a
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: silent weaver?
- 1:07:17Speaker 2: What are they saying? Oh. What are they saying?
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: Sometimes it's like you'll hear them like doing like little
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: football chants or just talking in Scottish. You're getting videos. Yeah,
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: wiener vids or whatever.
- 1:07:25Speaker 2: That feels much worse.
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: It's more cinematography, I feel like.
- 1:07:29Speaker 2: Cinematic.
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: Yeah, just a picture is like, oh, anybody could do that.
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: At least these guys are like.
- 1:07:32Speaker 2: They're putting some work in.
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: It feels like.
- 1:07:34Speaker 2: And they thought about you. They really thought about you.
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: All right, I don't want to think about it anymore.
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: You know, I'm 40 days off pornography right now.
- 1:07:41Speaker 2: Wow. That's good.
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: I feel pretty hype about that, actually. I feel pretty
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: good about it. Do you think you will go to college?
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: You didn't go to college?
- 1:07:49Speaker 2: I didn't.
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: You didn't?
- 1:07:50Speaker 2: No, but I've been thinking about it.
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: Have you? No.
- 1:07:53Speaker 2: Fuck no. Like Mabu?
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: Would you go like him?
- 1:07:54Speaker 2: I'm never going to college. But sometimes I do want
- 1:07:57Speaker 2: to go because lately I've, like when I was in
- 1:08:00Speaker 2: high school, I never, I hated that shit and I
- 1:08:01Speaker 2: didn't want to learn anything. But now I feel like,
- 1:08:05Speaker 2: I don't know if it's my age or what, but
- 1:08:06Speaker 2: I just want to learn so much.
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:08:09Speaker 2: I'm trying to, I want to like force myself to
- 1:08:10Speaker 2: read boring books because I just want to know more. Yeah.
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: You know?
- 1:08:14Speaker 2: But I don't know. You can. I used to want
- 1:08:15Speaker 2: to go to Harvard.
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: Really?
- 1:08:17Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: So you had dreams like that?
- 1:08:20Speaker 2: I wanted to go. I just wanted to go because
- 1:08:22Speaker 2: I knew it was like the craziest one.
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: Like what do you mean go? Like just go there,
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: eat in the student union or something? Or you wanted
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: to go to school there?
- 1:08:27Speaker 2: I wanted to go and be a lawyer, which I
- 1:08:29Speaker 2: would have been a fucking terrible lawyer.
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:08:33Speaker 2: I hate confrontation.
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: Do you? I do. Some of your, I don't know,
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: some of your energy, I feel like you want the,
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: you want, you, you.
- 1:08:43Speaker 2: No, I do.
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: You're there for it.
- 1:08:45Speaker 2: That's the weird thing. It's like the songs are like,
- 1:08:47Speaker 2: the part of me that I'm not. I'm not a fighter,
- 1:08:50Speaker 2: but in my songs I'm a fighter. You feel me?
- 1:08:53Speaker 2: But yeah, no. It's like my alter. It's like what I,
- 1:08:57Speaker 2: you know?
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a good point. sometimes we create yeah yeah
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: i think when i'm i don't feel as confident off
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: of stages that i do when i'm on stage right
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: i never even thought about that till just.
- 1:09:06Speaker 2: Now it's just like what you gotta get out you
- 1:09:09Speaker 2: know yeah without it i might be a fighter you
- 1:09:12Speaker 2: know i could.
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: See you doing ufc or something you.
- 1:09:15Speaker 2: Think so yeah really Yeah, dude. Have you ever done that?
- 1:09:18Speaker 2: Have you gone?
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: I've gone. Have you never gone?
- 1:09:20Speaker 2: No, I want to go really bad.
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: Really? So bad. I'll see if I can help you out.
- 1:09:27Speaker 2: Please do. I really want to see it.
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: You would fucking love it then, dude. You think so?
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: Are you kidding me? Find a fighter to walk out
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: to one of your songs to, one of those bad
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: bitches that are in the league.
- 1:09:36Speaker 3: Wow.
- 1:09:37Speaker 2: You've watched women too?
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: I watched a woman punch a tit off another woman.
- 1:09:40Speaker 3: No.
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:09:41Speaker 2: Where'd it go? No, that didn't happen.
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: And if you catch it, you win like a hat
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: or something.
- 1:09:45Speaker 2: That didn't happen.
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: Or you win like an extra large shirt. No, I
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: didn't see that. I have seen– oh, a woman punched
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: a woman's freaking eyelash off the other night in Denver.
- 1:09:56Speaker 2: She had fake eyelashes on?
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: Yeah. That's crazy to wear that into the ring.
- 1:10:00Speaker 2: It's a crazy place to do that. She looked good though.
- 1:10:02Speaker 2: She had makeup on.
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: Right here. Watch this.
- 1:10:05Speaker 3: No.
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: Yeah. No.
- 1:10:08Speaker 2: No, don't do that.
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: You got to use a stronger glue. What glue are
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: women using on the head? God damn.
- 1:10:16Speaker 2: No, you know what? You know what I think? Do
- 1:10:18Speaker 2: you know what eyelash extensions are?
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: Mm-hmm.
- 1:10:21Speaker 2: You know exactly what they are?
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: Yeah, it's like a fake eyelash. You glue it on, huh?
- 1:10:25Speaker 2: No, but the ones that they do, they'll go in
- 1:10:27Speaker 2: there with tongs, and they'll do them individually with serious glue.
- 1:10:33Speaker 2: And I hope that wasn't that because if it was,
- 1:10:37Speaker 2: her real eyelashes came out with it. Look at how
- 1:10:40Speaker 2: red it is.
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:10:43Speaker 2: Because I don't think she's gluing strip lashes.
- 1:10:45Speaker 1: You can see it leaving right there.
- 1:10:48Speaker 2: Oh, my God. I think that was an extension. That
- 1:10:53Speaker 2: girl lost her eyelashes.
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: Yeah, it's just that time of year.
- 1:10:56Speaker 2: Oh, my God. I got to go see that. You
- 1:10:58Speaker 2: think there's one tomorrow?
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: No, no, no. They have them on Saturdays.
- 1:11:02Speaker 2: Every Saturday?
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: Yeah. You know what, though? I will make sure you
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: get to one.
- 1:11:06Speaker 2: Please do. I'd be forever grateful.
- 1:11:08Speaker 1: It's so much fun. Really? You're right there by the cage. Yeah, dude.
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: You're right there by the cage.
- 1:11:13Speaker 2: Is that fucked up that we like to watch that
- 1:11:15Speaker 2: as humans?
- 1:11:16Speaker 1: No, because I think it goes back. I think at
- 1:11:19Speaker 1: first it is fucked up, but then you have to
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: recognize that these guys are fighters and they love doing it.
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: It's like. Yes, they want to beat each other up,
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: but they also want to show their skill and craft.
- 1:11:28Speaker 2: Right, they want to be seen.
- 1:11:29Speaker 1: Right, just like a singer, just like anything, a stripper, anything. Anything,
- 1:11:32Speaker 1: it's like I want to put myself out there. So
- 1:11:34Speaker 1: I think– I used to sit there and kind of
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: feel bad, but now I realize I just have maximum
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: respect for both of the men or women that are
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: in there because they're doing exactly what they want to do. Yeah,
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: here they put it back on, I guess. Or they
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: took the other one off. Yeah, no, the one on
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: the– her right eye is still on, and you can
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: see it's gone on.
- 1:11:53Speaker 2: The– It looks like they're gone, though.
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:11:58Speaker 2: That's bad.
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: Do you party, you drink? I do.
- 1:12:04Speaker 2: I dabble. I used to a lot more than I
- 1:12:06Speaker 2: do now. Really?
- 1:12:07Speaker 1: Why?
- 1:12:07Speaker 2: Well, high school, like, 17 was just rough for me,
- 1:12:12Speaker 2: and I think I, like, did that to, like, cope
- 1:12:14Speaker 2: with shit, which is not great. But the older I got,
- 1:12:17Speaker 2: the more I just realized how bad it makes you feel.
- 1:12:19Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:12:20Speaker 2: Like, I can't tour and drink a lot anymore because
- 1:12:22Speaker 2: it just wrecks me. I get sick so fast.
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: Oh, you have to take care of yourself so much
- 1:12:28Speaker 1: when you tour. It's crazy.
- 1:12:30Speaker 2: It's actually crazy.
- 1:12:31Speaker 1: That's why like the other day people were ripped or,
- 1:12:33Speaker 1: you know, Morgan Wallen canceled a show. It was in Tampa.
- 1:12:35Speaker 1: Do you see this? And Jelly Roll like went and
- 1:12:38Speaker 1: did a show, which I thought was really sweet to
- 1:12:39Speaker 1: try to be helpful. But also it's like, and people
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: were like, fuck him or what, you know, but it's like,
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: it's so hard. And he's been touring for three years straight.
- 1:12:50Speaker 2: Just straight, right?
- 1:12:52Speaker 1: I mean, I think he's had maybe a couple months
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: off here and there, but not a long time. I mean,
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: I was shocked. Remember, he was touring off their first album,
- 1:12:58Speaker 1: and then he put out the double out. Remember that? Yeah.
- 1:13:02Speaker 2: No, he just hasn't stopped touring.
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: So I can only fathom that he's pretty burnt at
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: certain moments, you know? And then they showed him the
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: night before. It's raining.
- 1:13:13Speaker 2: Really?
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: He's singing, and steam is coming up. It was like
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: 100 degrees. It was like.
- 1:13:17Speaker 2: Also, probably a long show. He probably has a lot
- 1:13:19Speaker 2: of fucking songs to sing.
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: Oh, he puts in a two, yeah, it's like, I
- 1:13:22Speaker 1: think it's a two-hour show.
- 1:13:24Speaker 2: Yeah, no, that shit is so, I don't know how
- 1:13:27Speaker 2: people do that long of tours and not have to
- 1:13:29Speaker 2: cancel shows.
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:13:30Speaker 2: You never want to have to do it, but, like,
- 1:13:32Speaker 2: you can't sing if you can't fucking sing.
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:13:34Speaker 2: You know?
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: How much wear and tear is it really on your voice?
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: As a comedian, it's like, you know, it's some, but
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: it's not.
- 1:13:39Speaker 2: Yeah, it's probably really different, huh?
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: Yeah, it's more like just making sure your mental state
- 1:13:44Speaker 1: is okay to go out there and build this energy of, like,
- 1:13:49Speaker 1: We're having a good time.
- 1:13:50Speaker 2: What do you do if you're not?
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:13:54Speaker 2: Like what would be warrants for you to not do
- 1:13:56Speaker 2: a show? Or you're just raw talking it regardless.
- 1:14:00Speaker 1: You don't have a fucking choice. Yeah, no. So for me,
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: nothing really. Unless I was hurt or unless something like
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: really tragic happened in life. But for a singer, is
- 1:14:09Speaker 1: it realistic that it could come up to like three
- 1:14:12Speaker 1: or four in the afternoon and you're like, I can't
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: do it?
- 1:14:15Speaker 2: I mean, it depends.
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: Like.
- 1:14:17Speaker 2: Fuck, I had to cancel one one time. I had
- 1:14:20Speaker 2: the stomach flu, but, like, from hell. Like, I couldn't.
- 1:14:25Speaker 2: It was so bad. I was just throwing up. Like,
- 1:14:27Speaker 2: I just couldn't, like, walk very far without, like, throwing
- 1:14:32Speaker 2: up and shit. So I had to cancel it. You know,
- 1:14:34Speaker 2: when you're just, like, weak and shit.
- 1:14:36Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, I hate that, dude. And you try to
- 1:14:38Speaker 1: open a Gatorade and you can't open it. You have
- 1:14:40Speaker 1: to not ask your neighbor.
- 1:14:40Speaker 2: That's how bad it was. You're laying on the bathroom
- 1:14:42Speaker 2: floor just curled up. That's the only time I'll do it.
- 1:14:45Speaker 2: But I do lose my voice a lot. And I
- 1:14:47Speaker 2: just do the show anyways. I just hope that they're
- 1:14:50Speaker 2: going to sing.
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: Oh, that's why a lot of people go like that
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: to the crowd.
- 1:14:53Speaker 2: Yeah, sometimes you got to do it. But some people fucking,
- 1:14:56Speaker 2: some people fake it, which is crazy.
- 1:14:59Speaker 1: It's not them singing the whole time? Some people fake it.
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: You're lying.
- 1:15:01Speaker 2: No, you didn't know that?
- 1:15:02Speaker 1: No, I knew that people have been accused of it.
- 1:15:05Speaker 1: Mariah Carey does it. No.
- 1:15:07Speaker 2: No, she doesn't, really.
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: Mariah Carey?
- 1:15:09Speaker 2: Fuck, that's sad.
- 1:15:10Speaker 1: I'm just, allegedly, I've heard that she does it. Somebody
- 1:15:15Speaker 1: went to one of her shows recently that said, They
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: bring a sofa out there and she just lays on
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: the sofa the whole time. And her pajamas no less. No,
- 1:15:22Speaker 1: she doesn't. Swear to God. See if you can find
- 1:15:24Speaker 1: any of it. Because can you even imagine like you're like,
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: I'll go on tour. But it's exactly how I'm going
- 1:15:30Speaker 1: to be at home. And you're just fucking.
- 1:15:31Speaker 2: She's sitting on the couch and she's not singing. She's
- 1:15:33Speaker 2: got to be singing. You're fucking with me.
- 1:15:34Speaker 1: At that point you have to sing. No, some of
- 1:15:36Speaker 1: my friends just went in Vegas. They saw her not
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: long ago. They're like, she just laid on the couch
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: the whole time in her pajamas and sang. They're like,
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: it was cool. But it was also like. This seems
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: pretty crazy.
- 1:15:47Speaker 2: I don't buy it.
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: It could be mythological. You know, I don't know.
- 1:15:51Speaker 2: It's got to be mythological.
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: Have you seen that crab that's eating a gusher.
- 1:15:54Speaker 2: On the internet? No. Show it to me.
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: Oh, it's cool.
- 1:15:56Speaker 2: What is it?
- 1:15:57Speaker 1: It's a crab just eating a gusher. See if you
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: can find it.
- 1:15:59Speaker 2: What's your For You page like?
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: Me? Yeah. A lot of just positivity. A little bit
- 1:16:05Speaker 1: of tits, probably, honestly, to be honest with you. But
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: I'm just joking. I mean, I don't know. I haven't
- 1:16:09Speaker 1: been on there in a while. Watch Howie's reaction today.
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: She remembers. Is this the one that I like?
- 1:16:16Speaker 2: Yeah, it was, yep.
- 1:16:17Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:16:19Speaker 2: You can have whatever you want. Here's a gusher.
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: There.
- 1:16:26Speaker 2: Do you remember gushers? You don't want it? You don't
- 1:16:33Speaker 2: want gushers.
- 1:16:35Speaker 1: I just crabbed you the damn gusher.
- 1:16:40Speaker 2: No. Yeah, you want the gusher.
- 1:16:43Speaker 3: You remember. Yeah.
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: You do happy mouth for gushers?
- 1:16:49Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:16:51Speaker 1: You want more? More? You can give them one.
- 1:16:55Speaker 2: Oh, it's good.
- 1:16:56Speaker 1: It's good.
- 1:16:59Speaker 3: Yum, yum, yum.
- 1:17:01Speaker 2: Such a missy girl.
- 1:17:08Speaker 1: I thought we got to see her eat the gusher.
- 1:17:10Speaker 2: She's got to put it in her mouth.
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: And we give her another one.
- 1:17:16Speaker 2: The buildup is wild.
- 1:17:17Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:17:18Speaker 2: I feel like we're being fucked with right now.
- 1:17:24Speaker 1: That's the world we live in now. Crabs are eating gushers.
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: It's just a different time.
- 1:17:28Speaker 2: You ever had one?
- 1:17:29Speaker 1: A gusher?
- 1:17:29Speaker 2: A crab.
- 1:17:30Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, dude.
- 1:17:33Speaker 2: Really?
- 1:17:34Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. I mean, in Louisiana, we had a lot
- 1:17:36Speaker 1: of crabs. Y'all been having them in Huntsville?
- 1:17:40Speaker 2: No.
- 1:17:41Speaker 1: Hush puppies.
- 1:17:41Speaker 2: I did have one.
- 1:17:42Speaker 1: That's the Huntsville thing. It is hush puppies.
- 1:17:43Speaker 2: No, what is that?
- 1:17:44Speaker 1: A hush puppy.
- 1:17:45Speaker 2: Oh, like the food?
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: Yeah, it's like a little.
- 1:17:47Speaker 2: That's not a Huntsville thing. That's an everywhere thing, though.
- 1:17:49Speaker 2: Is it? Is it? I just, they were really normal.
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: I thought a hush puppy was from Huntsville, Alabama.
- 1:17:54Speaker 2: Is it actually?
- 1:17:55Speaker 1: Look at it. Where's the home of, where did hush
- 1:17:56Speaker 1: puppies get started?
- 1:17:57Speaker 2: There's no way. Do you like them?
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: Hush puppies? Yeah, I like the ones that are a
- 1:18:02Speaker 1: little sweeter. But I don't like the ones that have
- 1:18:06Speaker 1: like jalapenos in them.
- 1:18:08Speaker 2: You don't like jalapenos?
- 1:18:09Speaker 1: I like them, but I don't like them in a
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: hush puppy.
- 1:18:12Speaker 2: Do you like spicy food a lot?
- 1:18:13Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't mind it. but I'll fucking get weird
- 1:18:16Speaker 1: if it gets weird.
- 1:18:17Speaker 3: It appears that it originated with Native Americans.
- 1:18:21Speaker 1: In Southern cuisine, can we say find out where? I
- 1:18:26Speaker 1: thought it was in damn Huntsville.
- 1:18:27Speaker 2: You ever had like a ghost pepper?
- 1:18:29Speaker 1: My mom lied. I don't know if I have. Is
- 1:18:31Speaker 1: it cool?
- 1:18:32Speaker 2: I've never had one.
- 1:18:32Speaker 1: All right. Hey, we ain't gonna force it on you, girl. Oh,
- 1:18:40Speaker 1: did you see that white horse that they have? Where?
- 1:18:43Speaker 1: This is an animal I could see you having. Where?
- 1:18:46Speaker 1: It's the fanciest horse they have, the most expensive horse
- 1:18:49Speaker 1: in the world.
- 1:18:49Speaker 2: Are you serious?
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: Yeah. Whoa.
- 1:18:51Speaker 2: Look at this horse.
- 1:18:52Speaker 3: Two reasons. Because it was elected the most beautiful horse
- 1:18:57Speaker 3: in the world because of its coat.
- 1:19:00Speaker 1: It's a coat that is somewhat silvery, as you can
- 1:19:03Speaker 1: see here. Wow.
- 1:19:04Speaker 3: It's just magnificent, and it comes from a lineage of
- 1:19:07Speaker 3: racehorses with a great track record. So it's for these
- 1:19:10Speaker 3: two reasons that at auction, it went for over $ 50 million.
- 1:19:14Speaker 2: Holy shit. There is no way.
- 1:19:16Speaker 3: Can you imagine $ 50 million for a horse?
- 1:19:18Speaker 1: Well, of course, it's just magnificent. $ 50 million? I'd pet
- 1:19:22Speaker 1: that thing all night.
- 1:19:23Speaker 2: Do you like horses?
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: I like them, but I think they got to like you,
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: you know?
- 1:19:28Speaker 2: They have to like you.
- 1:19:29Speaker 1: But that's expensive. Dude, I remember the first time I
- 1:19:31Speaker 1: ever stayed in an expensive hotel room. I was afraid
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: to even go to sleep. I was like, dude, this
- 1:19:34Speaker 1: is like $ 600 a night, dude. I ain't sleeping. You
- 1:19:38Speaker 1: didn't sleep?
- 1:19:38Speaker 2: No, I understand. You're not wasting the money. So you
- 1:19:41Speaker 2: just stayed up?
- 1:19:41Speaker 1: Oh, you close your eyes. That's $ 11, dude. It's like
- 1:19:44Speaker 1: I'm definitely going to get my money's worth or whatever.
- 1:19:47Speaker 2: I know exactly what you're talking about.
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: It's so crazy sometimes. Do you guys ever get stopped
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: by the police in your tour bus?
- 1:19:54Speaker 2: I don't think so. No, only like border crossings and shit.
- 1:19:58Speaker 1: Yeah? To Canada? Yeah.
- 1:19:59Speaker 2: You ever got in trouble? Are you on a tour bus?
- 1:20:01Speaker 1: We do tour bus and sometimes, yeah, sometimes we fly,
- 1:20:05Speaker 1: but we'll do tour bus a lot Have you ever
- 1:20:08Speaker 1: had any good run-ins with the police?
- 1:20:11Speaker 2: No, I mean, shit like getting chased in high school.
- 1:20:15Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:20:16Speaker 2: Like for trespassing and stuff.
- 1:20:18Speaker 1: Oh, dude, we had this guy. He got so high, right?
- 1:20:21Speaker 1: He fucking called. He couldn't feel his arms. He said
- 1:20:23Speaker 1: he didn't have any arms or whatever.
- 1:20:25Speaker 2: Oh, he called the police?
- 1:20:26Speaker 1: Huh? He said he didn't have any arms. Starts yelling, bro,
- 1:20:30Speaker 1: for people to call the police. So the fucking police come.
- 1:20:33Speaker 1: He started, he said, I think he was on, I
- 1:20:35Speaker 1: don't know, some type of drugs. He's like, these guys
- 1:20:37Speaker 1: stole my arms, dude, right? Fucking goes like that towards us.
- 1:20:41Speaker 2: Towards you?
- 1:20:42Speaker 1: Here's the dumbest part.
- 1:20:43Speaker 3: Oh, no.
- 1:20:44Speaker 1: The dumbest part. The cop comes over and goes like this,
- 1:20:46Speaker 1: like we have his arms. The motherfucker has his arms
- 1:20:49Speaker 1: on him.
- 1:20:49Speaker 2: This didn't happen. Yeah.
- 1:20:51Speaker 1: Oh, I swear to God, the guy was super high. Dude,
- 1:20:53Speaker 1: one night, my buddy Billy invites me over. He was
- 1:20:57Speaker 1: working at a gas station all night. He invites me
- 1:20:59Speaker 1: over there. We smoke a little bit of weed. I
- 1:21:03Speaker 1: went outside. I don't know if I went outside to
- 1:21:04Speaker 1: get someone in my car or something. He felt so high.
- 1:21:06Speaker 1: He thought that I poisoned him, right? He locks himself
- 1:21:10Speaker 1: in the gas station, calls the police.
- 1:21:12Speaker 2: No.
- 1:21:13Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:21:13Speaker 2: Because he thought you poisoned him.
- 1:21:14Speaker 1: Yeah. So I was like, I'm fucking out of here.
- 1:21:16Speaker 1: Did you go? You ran? I left. Yeah. I didn't
- 1:21:18Speaker 1: do anything. And then the cops show up.
- 1:21:21Speaker 2: And he's just high?
- 1:21:22Speaker 1: Yeah. He's just high inside the gas station.
- 1:21:24Speaker 2: Where was this at?
- 1:21:25Speaker 1: This was in Madisonville, Louisiana. Beautiful area.
- 1:21:28Speaker 2: Is weed illegal there?
- 1:21:30Speaker 1: I don't know if it's illegal or not, but it's
- 1:21:32Speaker 1: not that good a weed. Do you have a opener
- 1:21:35Speaker 1: on your new tour? Is that even put together yet
- 1:21:37Speaker 1: or you don't know?
- 1:21:38Speaker 2: No, I'm thinking about people. You got any ideas? I
- 1:21:41Speaker 2: know you got ideas.
- 1:21:43Speaker 1: I'm going to think of some and let you know.
- 1:21:45Speaker 1: What kind of stuff do you like? I know you
- 1:21:47Speaker 1: had Charlie on Friday on one of your tours. Yeah.
- 1:21:51Speaker 1: And who was on your last tour?
- 1:21:55Speaker 2: Shaboosie.
- 1:21:56Speaker 1: Oh, I just met him the other day.
- 1:21:58Speaker 2: Character, right?
- 1:21:59Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:22:00Speaker 2: Um, him and Matt Schmuster.
- 1:22:03Speaker 1: Ooh, I don't know. I'm not familiar with him.
- 1:22:05Speaker 2: Yo, you, you would like his shit. He has a
- 1:22:07Speaker 2: crazy voice.
- 1:22:08Speaker 1: Matt Schmuster.
- 1:22:09Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:22:10Speaker 2: Fuck. I might be saying that wrong, but I, yeah. Crazy.
- 1:22:13Speaker 1: Matt Schuster. Yeah.
- 1:22:15Speaker 2: Oh fuck. Schuster. It's a crazy last name to be fair,
- 1:22:18Speaker 2: but no crazy voice.
- 1:22:20Speaker 1: Um, wow. So you were going, you were closing the show.
- 1:22:25Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:22:25Speaker 1: Yeah. And Shabuzy was, uh, And that's when he was
- 1:22:29Speaker 1: really blowing up, right?
- 1:22:30Speaker 2: This was like two months ago, maybe.
- 1:22:33Speaker 1: Wow.
- 1:22:34Speaker 2: This was right before he went crazy.
- 1:22:37Speaker 1: That must have been kind of crazy.
- 1:22:39Speaker 2: It was crazy. It's been so sick seeing him go crazy.
- 1:22:43Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, it's unbelievable. He has another song out there
- 1:22:46Speaker 1: now that people are vibing to. I don't know what
- 1:22:47Speaker 1: it is, though.
- 1:22:48Speaker 2: He's got a couple. The album was so fucking good.
- 1:22:50Speaker 2: Is it?
- 1:22:50Speaker 1: I've got to listen to more of it.
- 1:22:51Speaker 2: You've got to listen.
- 1:22:52Speaker 1: I know.
- 1:22:53Speaker 2: You like sad stuff, huh?
- 1:22:55Speaker 1: Don't tell anyone yet.
- 1:22:59Speaker 2: Yeah, his song with Noah Cyrus I feel like you'd like.
- 1:23:03Speaker 1: Oh, did I meet her? Oh, I met Brandi Cyrus
- 1:23:05Speaker 1: the other day.
- 1:23:05Speaker 2: That's the mom?
- 1:23:07Speaker 1: No, Brandi's one of the children, I think.
- 1:23:08Speaker 2: Oh, really?
- 1:23:09Speaker 1: Is Noah a child of it? Noah Cyrus?
- 1:23:14Speaker 2: She's so good.
- 1:23:14Speaker 1: Did I meet her? No, she's pretty. Brandi I met. Yeah. Oh,
- 1:23:21Speaker 1: there's a huge Ron. Wait, Brandi. Who's damn Ron Cyrus?
- 1:23:25Speaker 1: I don't even know.
- 1:23:25Speaker 2: That's a big family right there.
- 1:23:27Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a lot of family. So you're thinking of
- 1:23:30Speaker 1: people now? How does that work?
- 1:23:32Speaker 2: You just pick somebody.
- 1:23:33Speaker 1: No.
- 1:23:34Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:23:34Speaker 1: But I'm sure a lot of agents submit people through
- 1:23:36Speaker 1: your agent. Like, what about this guy?
- 1:23:38Speaker 2: 100%, yeah.
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: Do you feel like you have pressure to listen to
- 1:23:41Speaker 1: any of that?
- 1:23:41Speaker 2: It depends on ticket sales. If you sell out, then
- 1:23:44Speaker 2: you can pick whoever you want.
- 1:23:47Speaker 1: Is your tour on sale yet? No.
- 1:23:49Speaker 2: I haven't announced it yet.
- 1:23:50Speaker 1: It'll sell out.
- 1:23:52Speaker 2: I hope so. I'm really excited. I'll be doing my
- 1:23:54Speaker 2: first arena show, which is really sick.
- 1:23:56Speaker 1: Oh, it's crazy.
- 1:23:57Speaker 2: I'm really excited about it.
- 1:23:59Speaker 1: Yeah, dude, some of your songs, they were like, yeah.
- 1:24:05Speaker 1: Some of them are so great. I don't want to
- 1:24:09Speaker 1: sing them because I don't want people to think I'm
- 1:24:11Speaker 1: that weird anymore.
- 1:24:14Speaker 2: Which ones do you know?
- 1:24:16Speaker 1: Oh, let me think. There was a song. Oh, What
- 1:24:18Speaker 1: Happened to Ryan, that song.
- 1:24:19Speaker 2: Damn.
- 1:24:20Speaker 1: I remember that. It was kind of strange, but I
- 1:24:23Speaker 1: was like, oh, this one's fucking kind of crazy.
- 1:24:25Speaker 2: Sad.
- 1:24:26Speaker 1: Yeah, sad. Any of the sad shit, I was there
- 1:24:29Speaker 1: for it.
- 1:24:29Speaker 2: Damn, I got to send you a playlist.
- 1:24:32Speaker 1: Of sad shit?
- 1:24:32Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:24:33Speaker 1: Damn, dude, do not do it, dude. I'm already on
- 1:24:36Speaker 1: pills and shit, man. I don't want this to be
- 1:24:40Speaker 1: how it ends, you know?
- 1:24:41Speaker 2: Fuck, I'm not sending you nothing.
- 1:24:43Speaker 1: Coughing music, that'll be your next album, you know?
- 1:24:45Speaker 2: That's a crazy thought.
- 1:24:47Speaker 1: Dude, there's a video. There was like a church or
- 1:24:49Speaker 1: something and they were doing and whoever was doing the
- 1:24:52Speaker 1: audio visual accidentally played a song or played a clip
- 1:24:59Speaker 1: of mine. See if you find that, Nick. I don't
- 1:25:03Speaker 1: want to keep you too long. So yeah, tell me
- 1:25:05Speaker 1: something else before you leave.
- 1:25:07Speaker 2: Anything?
- 1:25:08Speaker 1: Oh, do you ever have any pets growing up? What
- 1:25:10Speaker 1: was that like? I did.
- 1:25:11Speaker 2: I have a crab.
- 1:25:12Speaker 1: Oh, you did.
- 1:25:13Speaker 2: And it died. And I killed it on accident. Nah
- 1:25:17Speaker 2: Yeah and let me tell you how it happened So
- 1:25:18Speaker 2: I had a crab Just one?
- 1:25:21Speaker 1: Yes Okay It's.
- 1:25:22Speaker 2: Name was Bubbles And then It had a shell And
- 1:25:25Speaker 2: you know when you go to the beach You ever
- 1:25:26Speaker 2: been to Orange Beach?
- 1:25:27Speaker 1: Oh yeah Right?
- 1:25:28Speaker 2: Good time huh?
- 1:25:30Speaker 1: Great time dude.
- 1:25:31Speaker 2: So I got it there And it had a shell
- 1:25:34Speaker 2: But you know how they have Like the painted shells
- 1:25:36Speaker 2: You can buy different shells Oh really?
- 1:25:39Speaker 1: And what do you get them done At like a
- 1:25:40Speaker 1: salon or whatever?
- 1:25:41Speaker 2: No they just have them Somebody else has done them.
- 1:25:42Speaker 1: Already Oh and you put it on your crab You're
- 1:25:45Speaker 1: not supposed.
- 1:25:45Speaker 2: To Apparently So I get the shell, and it had
- 1:25:49Speaker 2: a bad one on, so I took it out. And
- 1:25:52Speaker 2: I tried to put it into the new shell, and
- 1:25:53Speaker 2: it just wouldn't. And then it died.
- 1:25:55Speaker 1: That was it.
- 1:25:56Speaker 2: Yeah, I haven't had a pet since then.
- 1:25:57Speaker 1: No.
- 1:25:58Speaker 2: Should I get another one?
- 1:26:00Speaker 1: I'm trying to think. If you're trying to get something,
- 1:26:01Speaker 1: what are you thinking about getting?
- 1:26:02Speaker 2: I probably shouldn't do a crab again. It probably raps.
- 1:26:07Speaker 1: Feed it a gusher, dude, if you do.
- 1:26:08Speaker 2: You think so?
- 1:26:09Speaker 1: You know they like them, girl. Get those fucking valentines.
- 1:26:11Speaker 2: That was a big crab. That's fucking crazy. You could
- 1:26:14Speaker 2: walk that thing.
- 1:26:15Speaker 1: I'll fucking watch one of them bitches eat a nerd rope, homie.
- 1:26:18Speaker 1: I don't give a fuck, dog.
- 1:26:19Speaker 2: Next time I see you, I'm going to bring you
- 1:26:21Speaker 2: a crab.
- 1:26:22Speaker 1: I'll give a damn twizzler to a dolphin. No, do
- 1:26:24Speaker 1: not bring me a damn crab, dude. Play this video
- 1:26:26Speaker 1: right here. This is at a church.
- 1:26:27Speaker 2: Would you keep it?
- 1:26:31Speaker 1: That's at a funeral? That's at a funeral. Oh, they
- 1:26:43Speaker 1: were leading a prayer. If you want to kick a
- 1:26:45Speaker 1: fat kid at K-Market. Can you imagine you're in a
- 1:26:48Speaker 1: fucking church?
- 1:26:49Speaker 2: It can't be real.
- 1:26:51Speaker 1: They all said amen. Somebody played that on accident.
- 1:26:54Speaker 2: That's fucked up. That might be my favorite clip I've
- 1:26:57Speaker 2: seen all day.
- 1:26:58Speaker 1: Oh, amen.
- 1:26:59Speaker 2: I like that.
- 1:27:00Speaker 1: Look at this. You see this whale return somebody's phone.
- 1:27:02Speaker 1: They dropped it in the water.
- 1:27:05Speaker 2: That's a whale. It's a dolphin though, right? Wow.
- 1:27:09Speaker 1: It's like a trans dolphin or whatever.
- 1:27:11Speaker 2: Do you know about SeaWorld?
- 1:27:13Speaker 1: Yeah, I've heard about it.
- 1:27:13Speaker 2: You know about the dolphins? Have you ever heard about
- 1:27:16Speaker 2: dolphin births? Like people can, I don't know if this
- 1:27:19Speaker 2: is safe, but people can give birth and the dolphins
- 1:27:23Speaker 2: deliver your baby for you. It's like a real thing.
- 1:27:27Speaker 1: What do you mean?
- 1:27:27Speaker 2: You've never heard of that?
- 1:27:30Speaker 1: How could I ever heard of it? Because it's not
- 1:27:31Speaker 1: even something.
- 1:27:32Speaker 2: No, it is something. I promise you.
- 1:27:34Speaker 1: What are you saying? Like a midwife that's a dolphin? Yes.
- 1:27:36Speaker 2: I swear it's a thing. Unless I'm confused, but I
- 1:27:38Speaker 2: really think this is.
- 1:27:39Speaker 1: And where do you do it? In the deep end
- 1:27:40Speaker 1: or whatever? Was this at a Hampton Inn? This isn't
- 1:27:42Speaker 1: that thing that happened outside of Waco, was it?
- 1:27:46Speaker 2: It could have been. No, I think it's a thing.
- 1:27:48Speaker 2: It's an option.
- 1:27:49Speaker 1: It's an option at SeaWorld?
- 1:27:52Speaker 2: No. Look, it's a real thing.
- 1:27:55Speaker 1: I've never seen this. Oh, my God. That thing's a pervert, dude.
- 1:27:59Speaker 2: They hope you get it.
- 1:27:59Speaker 1: That woman's married. Somebody tell that dolphin. Dolphin-assisted birth, a
- 1:28:05Speaker 1: newer take on water births, is apparently a trend growing
- 1:28:08Speaker 1: in popularity. The Sirius Institute in Hawaii, a new age
- 1:28:11Speaker 1: center dedicated to encouraging the bonds between dolphins and humans,
- 1:28:15Speaker 1: often assisted childbirth. However, it's unclear if any women have
- 1:28:18Speaker 1: actually gone through with it. One couple from North Carolina
- 1:28:21Speaker 1: traveled to the center for prenatal bonding, but the actual
- 1:28:24Speaker 1: birth with dolphins didn't happen.
- 1:28:26Speaker 2: Wow. Somebody's had to do it, though, if it's a
- 1:28:28Speaker 2: trending thing.
- 1:28:29Speaker 1: According to a website, pioneering Russian midwife Igor Shakarsky began
- 1:28:36Speaker 1: assisting births in the Black Sea with dolphins. that live there.
- 1:28:41Speaker 1: Some of the reported occurrences included a mother and a
- 1:28:44Speaker 1: baby playing with the dolphin within 45 minutes of the birth.
- 1:28:47Speaker 1: Another instance of a free dolphin escorting a newborn human
- 1:28:50Speaker 1: baby to the surface for its first breath.
- 1:28:53Speaker 2: So it comes out underwater.
- 1:28:55Speaker 1: Bro, let me tell you this. If my baby is born,
- 1:29:02Speaker 1: I'm not giving it to a fucking dolphin, dude, for
- 1:29:06Speaker 1: even 30 seconds. What if it swims off with it?
- 1:29:10Speaker 2: That's a crazy thought. No, I think you have.
- 1:29:12Speaker 1: To do it. But then you're like, oh, it didn't
- 1:29:14Speaker 1: work or whatever. How are you going to tell your wife?
- 1:29:16Speaker 2: It takes your baby or it just eats your baby?
- 1:29:18Speaker 1: Oh.
- 1:29:19Speaker 2: That's a fucked up thought. But this is a thing, though.
- 1:29:24Speaker 1: They said it's therapeutic. You know what's also therapeutic? Taking
- 1:29:27Speaker 1: the child home safely. And feeding them and probably homeschooling
- 1:29:31Speaker 1: them and making sure that your home is protected with
- 1:29:34Speaker 1: a ring camera. I mean, this just seems fucking insane.
- 1:29:40Speaker 1: Like how weird. People get too weird, dude.
- 1:29:43Speaker 2: Somebody in L.A.
- 1:29:44Speaker 1: Has definitely done this. Oh, some pervert in L.A.
- 1:29:45Speaker 2: Has done it at all.
- 1:29:46Speaker 1: Somebody in L.A.
- 1:29:46Speaker 2: Has probably done that.
- 1:29:47Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:29:48Speaker 2: One of your friends.
- 1:29:49Speaker 1: I don't have friends.
- 1:29:50Speaker 2: One of your friends has probably done that.
- 1:29:53Speaker 1: Jesse Murph, I don't have friends.
- 1:29:54Speaker 2: You should talk to them.
- 1:29:55Speaker 1: Um, do you have any new mentors that have come
- 1:29:58Speaker 1: into your life, uh, through, um, like, you know, sometimes
- 1:30:01Speaker 1: you meet some of your favorites and you meet any
- 1:30:03Speaker 1: of them that I kind of, uh, like has Madonna
- 1:30:08Speaker 1: spoken to you?
- 1:30:09Speaker 2: No, that would be wild though. I don't know. There
- 1:30:13Speaker 2: are people I look up to a lot that I know,
- 1:30:15Speaker 2: like communication, like, like Adele. I fucking love Adele. Really?
- 1:30:18Speaker 2: I look up to her so much. Yeah. I think
- 1:30:20Speaker 2: she's incredible.
- 1:30:21Speaker 1: Yeah. She's magical, huh?
- 1:30:22Speaker 2: She's magical. You seen her live?
- 1:30:25Speaker 1: No, I've seen her in person somewhere, but I've never
- 1:30:27Speaker 1: seen her live. Really?
- 1:30:30Speaker 2: I want to see it really bad. Yeah.
- 1:30:33Speaker 1: Did you ever perform right after at a venue as
- 1:30:35Speaker 1: her or anything like that?
- 1:30:37Speaker 2: No, I performed in some of the same venues, maybe. Because,
- 1:30:40Speaker 2: I mean, she went on like smaller tours earlier in
- 1:30:41Speaker 2: her career.
- 1:30:42Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:30:43Speaker 2: But, no, I don't know. She plays in Vegas a lot,
- 1:30:45Speaker 2: I think.
- 1:30:46Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:30:47Speaker 2: I don't know, but.
- 1:30:48Speaker 1: Did she ever reach out?
- 1:30:49Speaker 2: No, but I don't know how this happened, but she
- 1:30:51Speaker 2: like signed a set list. Somebody got it for me
- 1:30:55Speaker 2: for my birthday. I think it was just somebody was like,
- 1:30:57Speaker 2: can you please do this? She probably did it. But
- 1:31:00Speaker 2: I don't know. It's on my wall and it's my
- 1:31:01Speaker 2: favorite thing I own.
- 1:31:02Speaker 1: Really?
- 1:31:03Speaker 2: Yeah. What about you?
- 1:31:07Speaker 1: Let me think if somebody gave me something that was
- 1:31:09Speaker 1: real nice one time. The guy that's in Better Call
- 1:31:17Speaker 1: Saul one time, I think I was performing somewhere after
- 1:31:19Speaker 1: him and he left me a nice note.
- 1:31:21Speaker 2: What did he say?
- 1:31:22Speaker 1: He said, have fun. I was just here.
- 1:31:25Speaker 2: Wow. You have it on your wall?
- 1:31:28Speaker 1: Nope. Bob Odenkirk, but he wrote it, signed it. Thought
- 1:31:33Speaker 1: it was pretty nice of him.
- 1:31:34Speaker 2: That's special.
- 1:31:35Speaker 1: What do I have that's something that's real special?
- 1:31:37Speaker 2: Yeah, what's the best gift you've ever received? Or what's
- 1:31:40Speaker 2: something that, if you could only hang one thing on
- 1:31:42Speaker 2: your wall, what are you hanging?
- 1:31:44Speaker 1: Oh, that's such a good question.
- 1:31:49Speaker 2: One thing.
- 1:31:50Speaker 1: I don't know. I can't even answer, I don't think.
- 1:31:54Speaker 2: That's a crazy question.
- 1:31:55Speaker 1: There's a nice piece of art my friend painted. It
- 1:31:57Speaker 1: was the first piece of art I ever got. And
- 1:32:00Speaker 1: maybe I would hang that there, I guess.
- 1:32:02Speaker 2: What does it look like?
- 1:32:02Speaker 1: It's just a picture of Chris Farley.
- 1:32:04Speaker 2: Who's that?
- 1:32:06Speaker 1: He's a comedian. He was in a movie called Tommy Boy,
- 1:32:11Speaker 1: Black Sheep. He's like a famous actor. That's him. He died, though.
- 1:32:16Speaker 2: I've seen him somewhere.
- 1:32:17Speaker 1: Yeah, he used to do like– he did films like
- 1:32:20Speaker 1: Adam Sandler, David Spade. Um, he was on Saturday Night Live.
- 1:32:24Speaker 1: He did like fat guy in a little coat. He
- 1:32:27Speaker 1: used to do like all kinds of like sketches and shit.
- 1:32:29Speaker 2: I know I've seen him somewhere.
- 1:32:30Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. You've seen him. He was like unbelievably famous.
- 1:32:33Speaker 1: He was like the most famous guy that they ever had.
- 1:32:35Speaker 2: Was he?
- 1:32:37Speaker 1: I mean, look at him. He's. Oh, wow.
- 1:32:42Speaker 2: What movie is this?
- 1:32:43Speaker 1: He's fucking. No, this is him just going on like
- 1:32:46Speaker 1: a talk show. Oh, fuck. Obviously.
- 1:32:48Speaker 2: Fuck.
- 1:32:51Speaker 1: Wow.
- 1:32:51Speaker 3: Wow.
- 1:32:54Speaker 1: Yeah, dude. My friend said he would just puke. Like
- 1:32:57Speaker 1: my buddy would go over to his place sometimes and
- 1:32:58Speaker 1: he's like, he would just puke on the side of
- 1:33:00Speaker 1: his bed and then just like between like the wall
- 1:33:02Speaker 1: and the bed all the time.
- 1:33:04Speaker 2: For what?
- 1:33:04Speaker 1: Just to party. Just to be like that. Dude, my
- 1:33:07Speaker 1: friend Jeff. So you ever heard that song? It's an
- 1:33:11Speaker 1: old song. It's like, you got to keep them separated.
- 1:33:13Speaker 2: No, wait, maybe. Keep going.
- 1:33:15Speaker 1: Are you talking back to me? You got to keep
- 1:33:22Speaker 1: them separated.
- 1:33:23Speaker 2: Come at him. Yes, yes, I've heard that.
- 1:33:27Speaker 1: Well, you're getting a tattoo now. You're getting ink done. Anyway,
- 1:33:32Speaker 1: my friend Jeff, he had anger issues or whatever, and
- 1:33:36Speaker 1: he would get angry. He would go in his room,
- 1:33:39Speaker 1: he would play that song, and he would just beat
- 1:33:41Speaker 1: the fuck punch holes all in the walls of his room.
- 1:33:43Speaker 2: That's all he would do? Just to that song, you think?
- 1:33:45Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:33:46Speaker 2: That was the only one.
- 1:33:46Speaker 1: Oh, we could tell when he was mad because in
- 1:33:48Speaker 1: there you could hear the walls not doing well. And then,
- 1:33:51Speaker 1: here's what would happen, though. Every year at Christmas, his
- 1:33:53Speaker 1: parents would get his walls redone for him in the room. Really?
- 1:33:56Speaker 1: If I could do it again, yeah.
- 1:33:57Speaker 2: This was at his family home?
- 1:33:58Speaker 1: Yeah, at his family home. And then I saw this
- 1:34:01Speaker 1: band one time in Vegas, and I told the lead singer.
- 1:34:03Speaker 1: It was like, this is the lead singer of Offspring.
- 1:34:05Speaker 1: And I was like, bro, you are never going to
- 1:34:07Speaker 1: fucking believe this. And they died laughing. It was pretty awesome.
- 1:34:13Speaker 1: Before you go, love life. Is it harder to date
- 1:34:16Speaker 1: as you get more popular?
- 1:34:18Speaker 2: Yeah, no. I think I'm just... it's hard when you're busy,
- 1:34:23Speaker 2: you know, and when you're touring a lot, I think.
- 1:34:25Speaker 1: Oh yeah.
- 1:34:25Speaker 2: But yeah, I don't know. Yeah.
- 1:34:27Speaker 1: It's hard to build something cause you're kind of on
- 1:34:29Speaker 1: the go and your career, like it almost has to
- 1:34:33Speaker 1: come first.
- 1:34:33Speaker 2: Sometimes it has to come first.
- 1:34:35Speaker 1: Right. Yeah.
- 1:34:36Speaker 2: I mean, what do you do?
- 1:34:38Speaker 1: My career is just like, I've worked so hard that
- 1:34:40Speaker 1: my career takes first place. It's got to most of
- 1:34:43Speaker 1: the time, even if I don't want it to, it's like,
- 1:34:46Speaker 1: I have to do this tomorrow. I have to do this.
- 1:34:48Speaker 1: It's like, Um, I'd love to, a lot of times
- 1:34:52Speaker 1: it'd be like, yeah, look, I would like to do that,
- 1:34:54Speaker 1: but I just can't right now, you know? But then
- 1:34:56Speaker 1: you start to think, oh, well then like, yeah, at
- 1:34:58Speaker 1: some point there'll be times where I don't have to
- 1:35:00Speaker 1: tour as much. And then maybe I could try to
- 1:35:04Speaker 1: devote more attention to it. Cause it takes attention too.
- 1:35:07Speaker 2: It takes attention and it takes like care, I think.
- 1:35:11Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:35:12Speaker 2: But fuck, I mean, but do you ever see yourself?
- 1:35:15Speaker 2: I mean, at some point I'm sure, but is there
- 1:35:16Speaker 2: ever going to be a point where you're not touring though?
- 1:35:19Speaker 1: It's a good question. And then you bring your family
- 1:35:21Speaker 1: on tour and then they got to help out. Yeah.
- 1:35:24Speaker 1: And your wife's selling merch or whatever and calling you
- 1:35:27Speaker 1: an asshole at night. You know, outside of a fucking
- 1:35:30Speaker 1: Waffle House or something somewhere. And you're like, yeah, I
- 1:35:32Speaker 1: am an asshole.
- 1:35:33Speaker 2: That's what you think?
- 1:35:34Speaker 1: I mean, I think you got to, you know, hope
- 1:35:36Speaker 1: for the best. You know, I think so. Dirty, that's
- 1:35:40Speaker 1: the new single that's available now with Teddy Swims.
- 1:35:43Speaker 2: With Teddy Swims.
- 1:35:44Speaker 1: So freaking cool. And then... These men are going to die.
- 1:35:50Speaker 1: What's it called, the album? I'm sorry.
- 1:35:56Speaker 2: These men are going to die.
- 1:35:58Speaker 1: I'm always going to be a fan, Jessie Murph.
- 1:35:59Speaker 2: Likewise.
- 1:36:00Speaker 1: Yep. I'm locked in. You're the man. Thank you so much.
- 1:36:03Speaker 1: You remind me of like Wim and Em a little bit.
- 1:36:05Speaker 1: Like you're like kind of like because you have this
- 1:36:08Speaker 1: like he always seems like he has this a little
- 1:36:09Speaker 1: bit of a chip on his shoulder. But he manages
- 1:36:13Speaker 1: it well a little.
- 1:36:14Speaker 2: Wim and Em is real good.
- 1:36:16Speaker 1: Is that?
- 1:36:16Speaker 2: It's real good. I like that a lot.
- 1:36:18Speaker 1: Women in thank you for saying that if you don't
- 1:36:21Speaker 1: ladies and gentlemen Jesse Murph thank you so much and
- 1:36:24Speaker 1: best of luck with your new album I can't wait
- 1:36:26Speaker 1: to get a hold of it now I'm just.
- 1:36:28Speaker 2: Floating on the breeze and I feel I'm falling like
- 1:36:32Speaker 2: these leaves I must be cornerstone oh
- 1:36:39Speaker 1: But when I reach that ground I'll share this piece
- 1:36:42Speaker 1: of mind I found I can feel it in my
- 1:36:46Speaker 1: bones
