- 0:01Speaker 1: And I promise you, every single person who wants to
- 0:04Speaker 1: do something with their life and has done something with
- 0:06Speaker 1: their life has gone through the exact chapter that you're
- 0:09Speaker 1: going through. And it's the lonely chapter.
- 0:14Speaker 2: There comes a time when the hard work you have
- 0:16Speaker 2: to do is learning that you can't work any harder
- 0:18Speaker 2: any longer and that you have to change what got
- 0:21Speaker 2: you here to what will get you to where you
- 0:23Speaker 2: want to go.
- 0:24Speaker 3: Why are you so antisocial? Because I'm trying to get it.
- 0:28Speaker 4: Why are you out there practicing in the hot sun
- 0:30Speaker 4: when ain't nobody else out there?
- 0:32Speaker 3: Because I'm trying to get it. I don't want to
- 0:34Speaker 3: do it alone, but I need to.
- 0:38Speaker 5: It's a gamble.
- 0:39Speaker 6: Yeah, I know that.
- 0:40Speaker 2: But look, if there was a time to roll the dice,
- 0:42Speaker 2: this is it.
- 0:44Speaker 7: A lot of people probably is like, They don't know
- 0:46Speaker 7: how to be by they self, bruh. Like you gotta
- 0:49Speaker 7: learn how to be by yourself.
- 0:50Speaker 3: You gotta learn how to be alone, bruh.
- 0:53Speaker 7: Nobody wants to disappear for three months, four months, six
- 0:56Speaker 7: months and eliminate all distractions and get into a place
- 1:01Speaker 7: where you can focus on just you. What if you
- 1:04Speaker 7: could just shut out every distraction? What if you could
- 1:07Speaker 7: just shut out the world for just a season and
- 1:10Speaker 7: focus on you?
- 1:13Speaker 6: So if you wake up in the morning and you
- 1:15Speaker 6: don't want to do something, you don't care enough about yourself.
- 1:19Speaker 7: And that's what.
- 1:20Speaker 6: You need to really research is, why am I not
- 1:23Speaker 6: doing this for myself? Because that is the number one
- 1:26Speaker 6: purpose in life, is to better oneself. So that's the
- 1:32Speaker 6: only purpose I can need.
- 1:34Speaker 7: I built this.
- 1:36Speaker 6: Me. Me.
- 1:37Speaker 7: Brick by brick.
- 1:38Speaker 8: And I'll be damned if I let you tear it
- 1:39Speaker 8: down just because you.
- 1:40Speaker 3: Don't like the way another talk.
- 1:43Speaker 7: Stop telling everybody what you're going to do. Stop telling
- 1:46Speaker 7: everybody what your next move is and just disappear and
- 1:51Speaker 7: do the work that is required.
- 1:58Speaker 2: I was hopelessly alone and bullied when I was in school.
- 2:02Speaker 2: I was the most unpopular kid throughout all of school.
- 2:05Speaker 2: I was an only child, very socially awkward, and you
- 2:08Speaker 2: would not have picked me as being anybody that would
- 2:12Speaker 2: have become even slightly competent in life, let alone being
- 2:15Speaker 2: in relationships and being happy and so on and so forth.
- 2:18Speaker 2: You do not know the path that your life is
- 2:19Speaker 2: going to take you down over the longer term. You
- 2:21Speaker 2: do not know how you are going to grow up,
- 2:23Speaker 2: the way that you're going to look, the way that
- 2:25Speaker 2: you're going to become competent or confident or any of
- 2:27Speaker 2: these different things. Yes, there are some challenges that you're
- 2:30Speaker 2: going to face. But what do you want to do?
- 2:31Speaker 3: Do you want to.
- 2:33Speaker 2: Roll over and just allow the world to continue to
- 2:36Speaker 2: kick you in the teeth? The pessimist is always going
- 2:38Speaker 2: to be able to prove himself right.
- 2:40Speaker 1: Because like in The Matrix, when Neo's about to go
- 2:44Speaker 1: take the red pill and he wants to get out
- 2:46Speaker 1: of the car, Neo, you've been down that road and
- 2:48Speaker 1: you know exactly where it leads. And I know that's
- 2:50Speaker 1: not where you want to be.
- 2:52Speaker 3: You could go back.
- 2:54Speaker 1: But then you'd have to remember exactly what the reason
- 2:56Speaker 1: was that you decided not to go out to begin with.
- 2:58Speaker 1: Just because you listen to this podcast and you consume
- 3:00Speaker 1: this content, you're like, I can do more than this.
- 3:02Speaker 1: And you start to see the person that you could be.
- 3:04Speaker 1: And you're like, this does start to feel like hell.
- 3:06Speaker 1: So the very fact that it's difficult is why it
- 3:09Speaker 1: is worth doing. And so like, we can't resent the
- 3:12Speaker 1: price tag of the shoes that we want to buy.
- 3:15Speaker 1: We just have to make the decision of whether or
- 3:16Speaker 1: not we want to pay it.
- 3:18Speaker 7: Everything in my life. breathes and eats this purpose that
- 3:24Speaker 7: I have.
- 3:24Speaker 3: I gotta make it personal.
- 3:26Speaker 7: It starts with me. When it starts with me, it
- 3:29Speaker 7: ends with me.
- 3:33Speaker 3: But there are many people out there who did make it.
- 3:37Speaker 7: And they're making it today.
- 3:40Speaker 8: And the reason that they're making it is because they
- 3:43Speaker 8: had just enough faith in who.
- 3:46Speaker 7: They are inside. And it did not allow.
- 3:49Speaker 8: Anyone to come in between their faith, and their possibilities.
- 3:56Speaker 7: No man or woman can put you down unless.
- 4:02Speaker 3: You allow it.
- 4:04Speaker 8: So if you are alone right now, if you're sitting
- 4:09Speaker 8: in a quiet place right now, have that moment to yourself.
- 4:15Speaker 8: Give your life some deep thought and process it.
- 4:22Speaker 7: And then attack.
- 4:23Speaker 4: And I'm not coming at y'all on any other level
- 4:25Speaker 4: but keeping it real. The life that I live, I
- 4:28Speaker 4: deserve this life because I worked my ass off to
- 4:30Speaker 4: get it. Y'all out here running around on the brink
- 4:33Speaker 4: of destruction. And it's all self-inflicted. Trying to live up
- 4:39Speaker 4: to the hype.
- 4:40Speaker 7: You still got work to do.
- 4:43Speaker 3: Stay on that basketball court.
- 4:45Speaker 4: Stay on that football field. All the homies texting and
- 4:48Speaker 4: calling and trying to make you feel bad about being
- 4:51Speaker 4: so focused. It's grind season, homie. It's not about today.
- 4:56Speaker 4: It's about the future.
- 4:58Speaker 9: I know there's a whole bunch of people with that
- 5:00Speaker 9: right there. That fires me up.
- 5:02Speaker 6: That brings joy to my life right there.
- 5:04Speaker 5: Why?
- 5:05Speaker 6: Because I know there's so many.
- 5:06Speaker 9: People that have the ability and just refuse to get
- 5:11Speaker 9: off that couch. Refuse to study a few more hours.
- 5:15Speaker 9: Refuse to go deeper, to go further. That's where I
- 5:19Speaker 9: gained the advantage.
- 5:21Speaker 2: What truly, truly matters in life is your time is
- 5:25Speaker 2: being captured and your attention is being captured by a
- 5:27Speaker 2: thought that could have been gotten rid of had you
- 5:28Speaker 2: have just done it. Had you have just had the conversation,
- 5:31Speaker 2: broken up with the relationship, left the job, told the father,
- 5:33Speaker 2: whatever it is that you needed to do. All of
- 5:38Speaker 2: that anxiety cost could have been gotten rid of had
- 5:41Speaker 2: you just gone and done it.
- 5:42Speaker 1: You can move through life at seven times the rate
- 5:46Speaker 1: of other people. by simply changing when you say you're
- 5:49Speaker 1: going to make a decision from end of week to
- 5:51Speaker 1: end of day. So think about how that stacks up.
- 5:53Speaker 1: So it's like, let's say that there were four decisions
- 5:56Speaker 1: that you needed to make. If the normal person takes
- 5:58Speaker 1: a week to make the decision and then their mind
- 6:00Speaker 1: moves on to the next thing that they have anxiety
- 6:02Speaker 1: for and start making that decision and decide another week,
- 6:05Speaker 1: decide another week, decide another week. It's a month to
- 6:07Speaker 1: make those four decisions. Whereas the, the super, the Superman
- 6:11Speaker 1: that takes one decision day one, one second decision day two,
- 6:15Speaker 1: third decision day three, fourth decision day four, they aren't
- 6:17Speaker 1: even finished the week yet. And they're where the other
- 6:19Speaker 1: person is at the end of the month. And like
- 6:22Speaker 1: that speed of decision-making, like not paying the attention cost,
- 6:26Speaker 1: the opportunity cost of your time. I think it's really
- 6:30Speaker 1: profound in terms of how quickly people move through life
- 6:33Speaker 1: in terms of achieving the goals that they set out.
- 6:36Speaker 10: If you go on the airplane, every time you've ever
- 6:38Speaker 10: got on the airplane and they've said, in case of emergency,
- 6:42Speaker 10: if the plane is about to go down, They say
- 6:46Speaker 10: put the mask on yourself first before you try and
- 6:49Speaker 10: help anyone else, including your own kids.
- 6:53Speaker 5: That means that you can only take care of everybody
- 6:57Speaker 5: else if you make it more of a point to
- 7:00Speaker 5: take care of yourself. It is time to be more selfish.
- 7:06Speaker 5: Tell them, sorry, something came up. I've made other plans.
- 7:10Speaker 5: I'm going to go do something for me. It doesn't
- 7:14Speaker 5: start with them and they. It starts with me. It
- 7:17Speaker 5: starts with me.
- 7:19Speaker 2: There's a cool insight that the more you complain, the
- 7:21Speaker 2: less accurate your model of reality. So complaining is you saying,
- 7:26Speaker 2: the world isn't delivering to me that which I anticipated
- 7:29Speaker 2: or expected or desired from it, which is also you saying,
- 7:34Speaker 2: I don't understand how the world works until it comes
- 7:36Speaker 2: and meets me in reality.
- 7:39Speaker 1: There's three ways primary things that everyone casts all their
- 7:43Speaker 1: pain and suffering to which is you have circumstances you
- 7:47Speaker 1: have other people and then you have self and that's
- 7:50Speaker 1: it those are the three those are the three big
- 7:52Speaker 1: ones that everyone puts all of their all of their
- 7:55Speaker 1: blame on and so the first two obviously don't serve
- 7:57Speaker 1: you the third sometimes serves you depending on what you
- 8:01Speaker 1: do as a result of it right and so that
- 8:04Speaker 1: actually those big three has just been a really easy
- 8:06Speaker 1: filter is like oh am I blaming circumstances am I
- 8:08Speaker 1: blaming other people am I blaming me And obviously you
- 8:11Speaker 1: want to skip to you because that's the only thing
- 8:12Speaker 1: you can do anything about.
- 8:14Speaker 7: Wouldn't do that. There ain't no friendly faces out there.
- 8:21Speaker 7: Only adjust desserts. Who are you? I guess the better
- 8:25Speaker 7: question is, what have I become?
- 8:32Speaker 3: Mediocrity is behind you. Success is in front of you.
- 8:38Speaker 3: In the Lonely Chapter, you decide which.
- 8:41Speaker 10: Way you will go.
- 8:45Speaker 3: We live in a world that demands more thought, more
- 8:49Speaker 3: deep work. The Lonely Chapter can be defined oftentimes as
- 8:54Speaker 3: a season where you go to war with yourself.
- 8:58Speaker 7: This is Tranquility Base. The Eagle has landed. I'm descending
- 9:03Speaker 7: the ladder. See the Earth.
- 9:11Speaker 3: You decide which way you will go and we are
- 9:14Speaker 3: immersed in whirlpools of busyness noise and pleasure and the
- 9:22Speaker 3: question is can a man cut off temporary pleasures for
- 9:30Speaker 3: long term purposes the pain that you feel right now
- 9:36Speaker 3: this is the sign of success it is the sign
- 9:41Speaker 3: of a man or a woman a boy a girl
- 9:47Speaker 3: who is willing to make the necessary sacrifices to achieve
- 9:53Speaker 3: their target in order to get through the lonely chapter
- 10:00Speaker 3: he must embrace the lonely chapter there comes a time
- 10:05Speaker 3: in every man's life a moment of clarity where one
- 10:12Speaker 3: realizes their is more. And in order for us to
- 10:18Speaker 3: manifest more, we must become more. And this requires us
- 10:24Speaker 3: to withdraw ourselves at certain moments and seasons and chapters
- 10:29Speaker 3: at a time to find ourselves or to rediscover ourselves
- 10:34Speaker 3: or to reinvent ourselves. When was the last time you
- 10:39Speaker 3: sat alone with your thoughts in silence? You went for
- 10:45Speaker 3: a walk, a bus ride, a train ride, a trip away.
- 10:50Speaker 7: A.
- 10:52Speaker 3: Climb in the mountains, a hike down a trail to
- 10:57Speaker 3: rediscover yourself, to find who is the real you. There
- 11:04Speaker 3: are seasons in our lives that summon us to go deeper.
- 11:09Speaker 3: The question is, can you detach yourself From every disempowering
- 11:16Speaker 3: limiting belief. From every lid. From every label. From every limitation.
- 11:24Speaker 3: From everything you've made a crutch. Can you resist what
- 11:30Speaker 3: has been irresistible? The false dopamine that you have so
- 11:35Speaker 3: heavily relied on. Can you delete the app? Can you
- 11:41Speaker 3: cancel the membership? Can you End the subscription. Can you
- 11:47Speaker 3: step out of the toxic relationship? We want proximity. We
- 11:52Speaker 3: want attention. We want availability. We want the presence of
- 11:58Speaker 3: people who are draining us. Ask yourself this question. Are
- 12:05Speaker 3: the people in your lives fountains or drains? Do they
- 12:12Speaker 3: give to you? Or do they take from you? At
- 12:17Speaker 3: this juncture, nothing else matters. I gotta disappear. I got
- 12:23Speaker 3: work to do. There is a chapter that is on
- 12:28Speaker 3: the horizon where you withdraw yourself from every distraction, all
- 12:35Speaker 3: artificial significance and noise, and you find yourself. This is
- 12:41Speaker 3: the place Where every aspiration has a voice. And every
- 12:48Speaker 3: dream grows wings. Our dreams do not grow wings in
- 12:55Speaker 3: the stillness of the night. Somewhere inside of you, there
- 12:59Speaker 3: is a spark. An ember of possibilities. That you could
- 13:06Speaker 3: become the man or woman of your dreams. The person
- 13:11Speaker 3: you desire to be. The person that you desire to see.
- 13:15Speaker 3: Solitude is the corridor and the gateway to the future.
- 13:24Speaker 3: It is the trail and path most avoid. When I
- 13:31Speaker 3: get alone with myself, I get alone with my thoughts,
- 13:33Speaker 3: I realize I've made solitude a monster. Masquerading in my
- 13:42Speaker 3: life as a constant reminder that I am not enough.
- 13:45Speaker 3: When the truth is, solitude is a gift. Solitude is
- 13:53Speaker 3: a bridge, a gateway, a path out of the simulation
- 13:59Speaker 3: of artificial significance. It's amazing to me how we build
- 14:03Speaker 3: these lives of simulations, these imitative representations of reality. We
- 14:09Speaker 3: construct these.
- 14:11Speaker 7: Lives of artificial significance, busyness, distraction, noise, emails, text messages, DMs,
- 14:17Speaker 7: and a cloud of people that call themselves our friends,
- 14:23Speaker 7: but are only with us when we are winning. And
- 14:26Speaker 7: they don't even know who we really are. And the
- 14:30Speaker 7: moment that we go through a losing season, they're gone.
- 14:34Speaker 7: They will abandon us. When I could get along with myself,
- 14:39Speaker 7: I can step into identity. Most people don't have what
- 14:43Speaker 7: it is that they desire because they really don't know
- 14:47Speaker 7: what they want. They don't know what they need and
- 14:50Speaker 7: they don't know who they are. When I can get
- 14:53Speaker 7: along with myself and my thoughts, I can plan tomorrow, today.
- 14:58Speaker 7: I can journal. I can walk. I can work out.
- 15:02Speaker 7: I can get in touch with my strengths and my weaknesses.
- 15:05Speaker 7: I can identify where I'm winning, where I'm losing, where
- 15:09Speaker 7: I need to improve, how I can step up. I
- 15:12Speaker 7: can schedule my priorities. I can manage my energy. I
- 15:17Speaker 7: can scrupulously investigate and evaluate where is my life and
- 15:22Speaker 7: where will it be in the next five years? When
- 15:24Speaker 7: people see me, what do I want them to think?
- 15:27Speaker 7: How will I be remembered? What will I accomplish? What
- 15:32Speaker 7: will I become? How can I get to this place
- 15:35Speaker 7: that I've never been before? It is possible to do this.
- 15:41Speaker 7: When the chapter of being alone is no longer seen
- 15:47Speaker 7: as lonely, but we see it as beauty, brilliance, wisdom.
- 15:55Speaker 7: You know, sometimes being alone is about protecting your peace.
- 15:58Speaker 7: It's about understanding that peace is like a crown jewel.
- 16:03Speaker 7: It's finding that quiet space to find myself and begin
- 16:07Speaker 7: to deconstruct. And begin to unlearn some things and relearn
- 16:12Speaker 7: some things. You got to get serious about your peace
- 16:16Speaker 7: and your future. I've got to find what I've been
- 16:18Speaker 7: called to do. I've got to discover my purpose. Make
- 16:22Speaker 7: that difference. Make the connections. Create something. Build something. And
- 16:26Speaker 7: then go back and help the people that were lost
- 16:29Speaker 7: with me. And so that alone time is that time
- 16:33Speaker 7: to reflect and recharge and to imagine bold, courageous, more intentional,
- 16:40Speaker 7: more dialed in.
- 16:43Speaker 3: Some of the strongest souls, innovators, pioneers, captains of industry, CEOs, entrepreneurs,
- 16:54Speaker 3: game changers, city shifters, world changers have emerged today. out
- 17:01Speaker 3: of suffering and solitude. As you step into this chapter alone,
- 17:09Speaker 3: my question to you is, who will you be when
- 17:12Speaker 3: you come out? And what will you give back to
- 17:15Speaker 3: the world? Be terrified of dying until you have won
- 17:20Speaker 3: some small victory for humanity.
