- 1:34- Welcome to the divine five one five podcast.
- 1:38- Here is today's prayer.
- 1:44- Hello, and welcome to divine five one five
- 1:48- daily prayers with Valerie Rocha. I am your
- 1:50- host.
- 1:51- And today, I get the honor of helping
- 1:53- you tackle the hidden cost of trying to
- 1:56- control everything.
- 1:58- Scripture text I'm coming from today comes from
- 2:00- Proverbs three five through six and says, trust
- 2:03- in the Lord with all your heart.
- 2:06- And we wanna start the conversation by saying
- 2:09- that control often disguises itself as responsibility.
- 2:14- I,
- 2:15- know a couple of people who are,
- 2:18- they're very good at leadership,
- 2:20- but,
- 2:21- I think that one of them would probably
- 2:24- admit that the reason that they're so good
- 2:25- at what they do is because they they,
- 2:27- they have control issues.
- 2:31- And
- 2:32- I laugh about it because
- 2:35- part of,
- 2:37- being healed and delivered from the thing that's
- 2:39- holding you back or that can become a
- 2:41- a crutch or a hindrance is to acknowledge
- 2:44- it. Right?
- 2:46- Because of of, as I say that,
- 2:49- we feel like if we plan enough, right,
- 2:51- or if we worry enough or if we
- 2:53- prepare enough, we'll prevent disappointment.
- 2:56- But the truth of the matter is is
- 2:57- that life is gonna be full of disappointments
- 2:59- and unexpected,
- 3:01- twists and turns.
- 3:03- And I often tell people
- 3:05- that, you know, you cannot control what happens
- 3:09- to you. You can only control how you
- 3:11- deal with it.
- 3:12- And sometimes,
- 3:13- we get hit with life so hard that
- 3:15- we're just not sure how to deal with
- 3:17- it. Right? It it's it's like, we're in
- 3:20- a in a in a boxing ring, and
- 3:23- life just uppercuts us and knocks us out
- 3:25- the ring, and we're left on the floor
- 3:27- somewhere,
- 3:29- twitching like a fly, if you will, feeling
- 3:31- like all the oxygen has been sucked out
- 3:33- of the the room.
- 3:35- And it can leave you asking God, what
- 3:38- is going on here?
- 3:40- But
- 3:40- I always say that God welcomes the conversation.
- 3:43- And he's he doesn't get deterred by anything
- 3:46- that we go through. And,
- 3:50- the the beautiful part is is that every
- 3:52- situation that we go through, I I often
- 3:54- tell people there's not one thing that we
- 3:56- go through that God does not know about.
- 4:01- And the argument could be, well, if he
- 4:03- knows about it, why doesn't he do something
- 4:04- about it? Well, he did do something about
- 4:06- it. He sent his son who laid his
- 4:08- life down,
- 4:09- to bring glory to the father to restore
- 4:12- us back to the father. The father also,
- 4:15- gave us the tools that we would need
- 4:17- to handle everyday life.
- 4:19- And so
- 4:22- even when control feels safer than surrender,
- 4:26- continue to surrender.
- 4:28- Control only creates more pressure because it places
- 4:31- the weight of every outcome on our shoulders.
- 4:34- But, again, the beautiful part about prayer is
- 4:37- that it shifts control back to God.
- 4:40- And instead of demanding certainty, we begin to
- 4:43- develop trust.
- 4:45- And we we know that the scripture tells
- 4:47- us that without faith, it's impossible to please
- 4:50- God. And the the question is, are you
- 4:52- gonna trust me? Are you gonna trust me?
- 4:54- Right? Like that child trusts the the father.
- 4:57- And,
- 4:58- I always say the disclaimer is if you
- 4:59- did not have a good parental child relationship,
- 5:02- my prayers are with you. We pray for
- 5:04- healing,
- 5:05- regarding that. But that God is the perfect
- 5:07- parent. He's not like he's not like our
- 5:09- natural parents.
- 5:11- And when we pray, we can therefore discover
- 5:13- the peace that it,
- 5:15- and it isn't found in knowing every answer.
- 5:18- Right? It's not about
- 5:21- what we know, but who we know
- 5:24- that knows everything. Right?
- 5:27- And because of it, prayer is found in
- 5:29- knowing the one who already does, and and
- 5:31- so that's where we find comfort.
- 5:34- So know that whatever you're tasked with, do
- 5:37- it and do it with excellence to represent
- 5:39- the divine well, but
- 5:42- understand that you don't have to control everything
- 5:44- and there,
- 5:45- you know,
- 5:47- despite your your efforts of doing so, you're
- 5:49- not always gonna be able to control everything,
- 5:51- and that's okay. Just surrender it and let
- 5:54- God take the lead.
- 5:56- And that being said,
- 5:57- let's pray,
- 5:59- And,
- 6:01- you can cast your cares above the Lord,
- 6:03- black, because he cares for you.
- 6:05- Heavenly father, we surrender every need to control
- 6:08- every outcome.
- 6:10- Teach us to trust your wisdom, father, above
- 6:12- our understanding and your timing above our expectations.
- 6:16- Father, help us walk in peace knowing you
- 6:19- are faithfully
- 6:20- leading every step of the way, and we
- 6:23- will bless you in Jesus' name. Amen.
- 6:26- Well, we've learned that prayer grows strongest when
- 6:29- it's practiced consistently
- 6:31- with others.
- 6:33- If this was an encouragement to you, considering,
- 6:37- sharing it with someone who might be needing
- 6:40- some encouragement today and remember to keep meaning
- 6:43- God after the throne.
