- 0:09SPEAKER_00: Hira Juit Constator Ta May Gama in you I'm good today Alright today we are gonna be talking about likes and dislikes Hopefully there are more likes than dislikes but sometimes that's how it goes.
- 0:31SPEAKER_00: Erenos let's go You recall in the last episode you were introduced to one form of the verb to be.
- 0:42SPEAKER_00: Today we are going to be introduced, not deeply explored, but introduced to the other form of to be, and that is called the copula.
- 0:55SPEAKER_00: It starts, like the other form, with the verb.
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: This form is conjugated as is.
- 1:03SPEAKER_00: So your sentence in the most basic sentence structure would be is, which is this form of the verb to be.
- 1:11SPEAKER_00: Now unlike the other form of the verb to be, the pronoun does not come next.
- 1:17SPEAKER_00: Rather the things in the middle.
- 1:20SPEAKER_00: The pronoun will come at the end.
- 1:23SPEAKER_00: In this case, because we're talking about things that we like, it's gonna be Isma Lum.
- 1:32SPEAKER_00: It's good with me.
- 1:34SPEAKER_00: Ismalium Ismalium Now you can follow that with things that are good with you.
- 1:43SPEAKER_00: A noun like Ismayum Mowadra No Ismayum Mo Vadra depending on your dialect.
- 1:55SPEAKER_00: I like my dog Ismahyum Friski I like biscuits or cookies, depending on what part of the world you live in.
- 2:07SPEAKER_00: So what are some things that we can like maybe?
- 2:11SPEAKER_00: Ismahyum Mohar I like my car Ismahlum kat I like the cat.
- 2:24SPEAKER_00: Ismahium Ishke I like water.
- 2:29SPEAKER_00: It's Tawak it's important, you know, for life.
- 2:34SPEAKER_00: You can also like verbs doing things.
- 2:38SPEAKER_00: Ismahlum avei egg imert I like to be playing.
- 2:44SPEAKER_00: That is kind of a complicated form, and so maybe we'll explore that later, but just be aware you can also like doing things.
- 2:53SPEAKER_00: Now, it's possible that there are things that you don't like, and to say that we're gonna say ni ma iom.
- 3:02SPEAKER_00: And ni is the negation in Irish.
- 3:07SPEAKER_00: You've probably seen videos, and if you haven't, then you probably will, I may link it, that say that in Irish there is no yes and there is no no, and that's definitely true.
- 3:20SPEAKER_00: In Irish, when someone asks you a question, you answer it with either the affirmative conjugated verb, so I do this, or with the negative, I don't do this.
- 3:33SPEAKER_00: So, in Irish when you say I don't like something, you're gonna say ni mahyum not good with me.
- 3:42SPEAKER_00: And then you're gonna say what isn't good with you Ni Mahyum Dol Wadra I don't like your dog Ni Mahyum on Lauer I don't like the book Ni Mahyum on Schnachte I don't like the snow and that's true.
- 4:02SPEAKER_00: If you want to ask someone else if they like something or what they like, you'd say An Mahit Mawadra maybe do you like my dog?
- 4:15SPEAKER_00: An Mah Liet An Ma Liet And this is asking one person Do you like?
- 4:25SPEAKER_00: So from the top Ismahlum I like or it's good with me Ismahlum unkar I like the car Ismahlum Pizza I like pizza now to say I don't like something Ni Mahlum So Ni Mahlum Mo Rivre I don't like my computer that's not true computer, I love you And to ask someone do you like An Mahliat Ankat do you like the cat?
- 5:07SPEAKER_00: Here are a couple more things you may like or dislike An Auron which is masculine the song Kyol which is masculine music Mohara Kara is masculine Mohara means my friend and Kara is friend Mohara is also of course part of the band Nikap.
- 5:38SPEAKER_00: Now you can also prefer things rather than like or dislike them, and that structure is like Isma, but it is it's best with me Isfarlum Isfarlum It's best with me, I prefer it.
- 5:56SPEAKER_00: Isfarlum coponte I prefer a cup of tea Isfarlum Minnesota Shinfear, that's true.
- 6:06SPEAKER_00: I prefer Minnesota Isfarlum Minnesota Now like the Ismahlum and Ni Mahlum, you can also say Nifiarlum I don't prefer Nifiarlum fuel I don't prefer meat and to ask Unfarlat Unfarlat Do you prefer?
- 6:32SPEAKER_00: Well I think that's where we're gonna wrap it up today, Ahara.
- 6:36SPEAKER_00: And this is probably a a lot to take on, so hopefully you're taking breaks, watching the videos, practicing, but I think next episode we're gonna do something I think is a little fun, just some important modern vocabulary that I think we should all be aware of.
- 6:55SPEAKER_00: So until then, slon and gaffal, be readin', be writing, be talkin', and we'll see you next time.
