- 0:17Speaker 2: Fox Sports Radio.
- 0:20Speaker 1: I haven't played a video game in a long long time. Man,
- 0:23Speaker 1: I cannot remember the last time. Taylor plays him all
- 0:25Speaker 1: the time. I think he watches people playing video games,
- 0:28Speaker 1: which is crazy to me.
- 0:29Speaker 3: Well, one video game he does not watch. Anybody plays
- 0:31Speaker 3: Call to Duty?
- 0:32Speaker 4: Call to duty?
- 0:36Speaker 5: Call it to duty sounds like you have to take
- 0:37Speaker 5: a crap?
- 0:41Speaker 4: Is that what I call it? Yes, thank you for
- 0:45Speaker 4: always being there for me.
- 0:46Speaker 5: I'm here for you.
- 0:49Speaker 4: I mean I tried to be there for you today
- 0:51Speaker 4: with ban even though.
- 0:52Speaker 1: I disagree with every single word that's come out of
- 0:55Speaker 1: your Mouthains Monday.
- 0:56Speaker 4: No you don't, Yes, I do. No I do. I do,
- 1:00Speaker 4: I really do. This is Sports Radio. No you don't, Yes,
- 1:02Speaker 4: I do. No, you don't, Yes I do.
- 1:05Speaker 1: Let's go down Stigott Street as you like to call
- 1:08Speaker 1: it before we get to our game here, so is
- 1:11Speaker 1: he Let's start. We played this sound yesterday This is
- 1:14Speaker 1: the Bills general manager, and again this is a street
- 1:16Speaker 1: where everyone lies to each other. This is Eric Tacosta
- 1:20Speaker 1: talking about how gutted he feels about having to go
- 1:23Speaker 1: back on the Max Crosby deal.
- 1:25Speaker 6: Nobody's more upset about this than me. Gutted by it
- 1:28Speaker 6: actually a big regret for me. But we will move
- 1:31Speaker 6: on as a football team, and I think there's many
- 1:33Speaker 6: many opportunities for us to grow as a team, to
- 1:35Speaker 6: become a better team, to build a roster, and to
- 1:37Speaker 6: be the team that we want to be.
- 1:39Speaker 5: I don't want to be accused of not being here
- 1:41Speaker 5: for you, stud But whose GM was it?
- 1:44Speaker 4: That was the Ravens GM?
- 1:45Speaker 1: Okay, all right, just making sure, Okay, what did I
- 1:48Speaker 1: say the first time?
- 1:49Speaker 5: That's unimportant. You're not trying to pick the Bills.
- 1:54Speaker 4: Did I get his name right? Though? I think I
- 1:56Speaker 4: did right.
- 1:58Speaker 1: Listen, he says he's gutted, he's he knew exactly what
- 2:01Speaker 1: he was doing. He was on the phone, which Ray
- 2:04Speaker 1: Hendrickson say, agen as Max Crosby was in the building
- 2:07Speaker 1: getting a physical, So.
- 2:08Speaker 4: That is lie number one.
- 2:09Speaker 1: Here is Mark DeRosa, the manager of Team USA, explaining
- 2:16Speaker 1: that he did kind of know the rule, and knew.
- 2:19Speaker 4: That his team hadn't advanced yet.
- 2:21Speaker 7: They went into and Oh, we went into and O.
- 2:23Speaker 7: We knew they were playing Mexico the next day. We
- 2:26Speaker 7: knew there was tiebreaker rules involved. So I can understand
- 2:30Speaker 7: the questions about lineup and pitching situations we were up against.
- 2:35Speaker 7: You know a lot of guardrails with regards to teams,
- 2:39Speaker 7: the deployment of certain relievers, how many pitches they can use,
- 2:43Speaker 7: whether they can go back out, whether they can clean
- 2:46Speaker 7: up innings, and you're just trying to piece it together
- 2:49Speaker 7: in real time.
- 2:51Speaker 3: Nonsense. He knew there were rules, is what he's saying.
- 2:56Speaker 5: There. Nobody's saying that he didn't know that there were rules.
- 2:59Speaker 4: What we're saying he.
- 3:00Speaker 5: Didn't know what those rules were because he said things.
- 3:04Speaker 3: Out loud that proved that before the game, and then
- 3:07Speaker 3: played the same way or managed the same way. So yeah,
- 3:12Speaker 3: I mean, why do that you already advanced, Take the
- 3:15Speaker 3: l on the chin and move on. Just say, hey,
- 3:18Speaker 3: don't have to worry about that anymore, right because it's
- 3:20Speaker 3: elimination time, So just have fun with it instead of
- 3:24Speaker 3: lying about it and sounding small.
- 3:26Speaker 1: Frankly, it does sound small. You have to own up
- 3:30Speaker 1: to it. I'm not certain what I do in that spot.
- 3:32Speaker 1: It is so embarrassing. He doesn't want to give up.
- 3:35Speaker 1: I understand what he's trying to do. He doesn't want
- 3:37Speaker 1: to give off that he is in charge of the
- 3:40Speaker 1: United States baseball team and he doesn't know the rules.
- 3:44Speaker 1: He doesn't want to admit it. He doesn't want to
- 3:45Speaker 1: acknowledge it, and so he's trying to come up with
- 3:48Speaker 1: kinda he's trying to circumvent it a little bit.
- 3:51Speaker 4: By saying I knew exactly what was going on, but
- 3:53Speaker 4: he did it.
- 3:53Speaker 8: We all know that this one is so much more
- 3:56Speaker 8: insulting of a lie because even in the SnO, if
- 4:00Speaker 8: he understood that, if he actually understood what he's saying,
- 4:05Speaker 8: then the justification is I just gave Paul Goldschmidt a
- 4:08Speaker 8: charity start over Bryce Harper in a game that we
- 4:12Speaker 8: needed to win.
- 4:13Speaker 4: Right, but I knew the situation.
- 4:14Speaker 3: Yeah, don't insult our intelligence. We already know you're the dummy.
- 4:19Speaker 1: Yes, so as he here's our third piece of audio here,
- 4:22Speaker 1: because I like to do things in threes, Here is
- 4:25Speaker 1: Kyler Murray his introductory press confidence with the Minnesota Vikings.
- 4:29Speaker 1: I think I got the name right. I think I
- 4:31Speaker 1: got the name of the organization.
- 4:33Speaker 5: Right.
- 4:33Speaker 4: This is Kyler Murray being asked.
- 4:36Speaker 1: If he plans, if he intends, if his thought is
- 4:39Speaker 1: he's going to be the starter.
- 4:40Speaker 9: Do you view this as as you're coming in as
- 4:42Speaker 9: the starting quarterback? Do you view this as a competition?
- 4:45Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 4:45Speaker 10: No, Like I said, I'm just great for the opportunity,
- 4:47Speaker 10: grateful for the opportunity. You know, I look forward to
- 4:51Speaker 10: coming and competeing and getting to learn the offense, getting
- 4:53Speaker 10: to be with coach O'Connell. Obviously he's had a lot
- 4:56Speaker 10: of success. And again, I'm just looking for looking forward
- 4:59Speaker 10: to the opportunity I'm in here and competing.
- 5:01Speaker 1: Yeah, he's not looking forward to the opportunity to compete.
- 5:04Speaker 1: He is looking forward to starting for the Minnesota Vicakes.
- 5:07Speaker 1: That's what he wanted to say. But that's good press
- 5:08Speaker 1: conference from your quarterback right there, right.
- 5:10Speaker 5: It is?
- 5:11Speaker 4: It is?
- 5:11Speaker 3: And did he actually lie because I don't remember what
- 5:14Speaker 3: the question was exactly, but his answer was yeah, no,
- 5:16Speaker 3: So he has given you.
- 5:18Speaker 4: Both of them. I do that all the time.
- 5:20Speaker 1: In fact, if I was Sam could just isolate the yeah, no,
- 5:25Speaker 1: that would be that would be fantastic. I let me
- 5:28Speaker 1: know if you can do that. I it was Sam,
- 5:30Speaker 1: I have no confidence in throwing it to you right now?
- 5:34Speaker 9: Do you view this as you're coming in as the
- 5:36Speaker 9: starting quarterback? Do you view this as a competition?
- 5:39Speaker 4: Yeah? No, Like I said, I'm just grateful, just the yeah. No,
- 5:44Speaker 4: just the yeah.
- 5:45Speaker 11: No.
- 5:45Speaker 5: View it as a competition, yes and no.
- 5:48Speaker 4: There's your right. Do you think Kyler Murray views himself
- 5:51Speaker 4: as a starter right now? Like day one? He is
- 5:53Speaker 4: the day one starter?
- 5:54Speaker 1: Because why would you bringing Kyler Murray to do anything
- 5:57Speaker 1: other than start. You're bringing in Kyler Murray because you're
- 6:00Speaker 1: not confident in your quarterback, JJ McCarthy.
- 6:03Speaker 3: At what point would we believe that Kyler Murray lost
- 6:06Speaker 3: confidence in himself? The only thing I could think of
- 6:08Speaker 3: is after the knee injury, right because we talked on
- 6:12Speaker 3: the pod the other day and I talked to you
- 6:13Speaker 3: about all of his accolades, going forty two and zero
- 6:16Speaker 3: in high school, doing everything that he did early on
- 6:18Speaker 3: with the pros. You know, obviously the year at Oklahoma
- 6:21Speaker 3: playing behind the number one pick in Baker Mayfield.
- 6:24Speaker 5: Right before that.
- 6:25Speaker 3: We know a guy that time after time after time
- 6:28Speaker 3: after time has proven to himself and others that he
- 6:32Speaker 3: is probably an elite.
- 6:34Speaker 5: Quarterback, like it has that skill set.
- 6:36Speaker 4: Right.
- 6:36Speaker 3: Yes, things fell off with Arizona. Yes, his coach changed,
- 6:40Speaker 3: his approach changed, their approach to him changed rather in
- 6:43Speaker 3: terms of a little bit more short passes and stuff
- 6:45Speaker 3: like that and not trusting him as much. But he
- 6:49Speaker 3: wouldn't have lost his confidence, right, he would have continued
- 6:52Speaker 3: to think. He see which everyone is right? Which everyone
- 6:57Speaker 3: you choose to agree with me, I'll take Then. Yeah,
- 7:00Speaker 3: I think he's going to a place that has skill
- 7:02Speaker 3: position talent, that has a coach with a reputation that
- 7:06Speaker 3: works well with his quarterbacks, and he's probably thinking to himself,
- 7:09Speaker 3: I might.
- 7:09Speaker 5: Have the best year I've ever had.
- 7:11Speaker 8: So, speaking of the game called a duty stude, there's
- 7:14Speaker 8: people that believe that if Call of Duty never came out,
- 7:17Speaker 8: Kyler Murray might be a Hall of Fame quarterback.
- 7:19Speaker 4: He might be. Yes, yes, but is he?
- 7:21Speaker 1: We were saying earlier when we taped God Bless Football
- 7:24Speaker 1: that Kyler Murray is one of those guys that you
- 7:26Speaker 1: just hate as an athlete. Like if you work really
- 7:29Speaker 1: really hard at your craft and Kyler Murray comes strolling
- 7:33Speaker 1: off eighteen hours on the couch playing call for duty.
- 7:38Speaker 5: That's a different game.
- 7:39Speaker 1: But he can be on He could be on his
- 7:42Speaker 1: couch for eighteen hours and you are out there grinding
- 7:45Speaker 1: and working and grinding and working and in strolls. Kyler
- 7:48Speaker 1: Murray right off the couch after playing eighteen hours of
- 7:51Speaker 1: video games.
- 7:52Speaker 4: And he's the best athlete on any field he walks on.
- 7:55Speaker 1: And that's why people are frustrated with Kyler Murray because
- 7:57Speaker 1: if he actually paid attention, he cared about his crab,
- 8:00Speaker 1: he could be the best quarterback of all time.
- 8:02Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 8:03Speaker 3: I kind of live this example because I dropped the
- 8:06Speaker 3: yano at the same time I see you, I was Sam.
- 8:09Speaker 3: I kind of lived this example because my partner's five
- 8:11Speaker 3: to five and about forty pounds overweight and still the
- 8:13Speaker 3: best athlete when we go out and play football, and
- 8:15Speaker 3: it really.
- 8:16Speaker 5: Ticks me off.
- 8:16Speaker 4: Yes, I play golf. Of the ones.
- 8:18Speaker 1: He drove me crazy. He was hitting three hundred and
- 8:21Speaker 1: thirty yards. I mean he was like Scotti Scheffler.
- 8:24Speaker 5: Out there, not consistently, but he could do.
- 8:29Speaker 4: Who is the coach?
- 8:29Speaker 1: By the way, is there a coach for you that
- 8:32Speaker 1: gets assigned like all the great stuff, winner, champion, leader
- 8:37Speaker 1: of men? And it drives you crazy, because for me,
- 8:40Speaker 1: it was always Phil Jackson, the most overrated coach in
- 8:43Speaker 1: the history of sports, Phil Jackson. Eventually someone was going
- 8:46Speaker 1: to win with Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippett, and eventually
- 8:50Speaker 1: someone was going to win with Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O'Neal.
- 8:54Speaker 1: And yet we sit here and act like Phil Jackson
- 8:56Speaker 1: is the greatest coach in the history of sports. And
- 8:59Speaker 1: I am telling you right now, the guy who is
- 9:01Speaker 1: in close second for me is now Kevin O'Connell.
- 9:05Speaker 4: Big Kevin O'Connell, What has he ever done?
- 9:09Speaker 1: As seriously, as Taylor pointed out, and God bless football,
- 9:13Speaker 1: the next playoff game that Kevin O'Connell wins is the
- 9:16Speaker 1: first playoff game that Kevin O'Connell is gonna win as
- 9:19Speaker 1: the Vikings head coach. He has not developed a quarterback.
- 9:22Speaker 1: In fact, what he has done is he just so
- 9:24Speaker 1: unclear because he gets a sign quarterback whisperer Guy okay,
- 9:29Speaker 1: And I hate that he is the expert on quarterbacks. Well,
- 9:32Speaker 1: he had Sam Donald. Sam Donald had to start because
- 9:35Speaker 1: JJ McCarthy went down. Sam Donald fourteen and three got
- 9:39Speaker 1: to the playoffs and they lost in the playoffs. Why
- 9:44Speaker 1: because that guy is their coach. Okay, so Sam Donald,
- 9:47Speaker 1: he has a decision to make do I keep Sam
- 9:50Speaker 1: do I go forward with Jj? And he says, you
- 9:52Speaker 1: know what, I'm gonna let Sam walk out the door.
- 9:55Speaker 1: Sam goes wins a super Bowl with the Seattle Seahawks.
- 9:59Speaker 1: So oh, he could have won a super Bowl with
- 10:02Speaker 1: Sam Darnold, even though he had justin Jefferson, even though
- 10:06Speaker 1: he had Flores considered to be one of the best
- 10:08Speaker 1: defensive coordinators in the NFL.
- 10:10Speaker 4: So we couldn't get it done with Sam. And what
- 10:13Speaker 4: he also couldn't do.
- 10:14Speaker 1: Is develop the quarterback that he drafted in JJ McCarthy.
- 10:19Speaker 1: And yet we sit here and assign all these attributes
- 10:21Speaker 1: positive ones to Kevin O'Connell when he has done absolutely
- 10:26Speaker 1: nothing as the head coach of the Vikings.
- 10:29Speaker 3: It's such a great point because we've assigned so many
- 10:34Speaker 3: quarterback whisperer labels to guys, right, and I start to
- 10:37Speaker 3: lose track. I was like, who's responsible for what? How
- 10:39Speaker 3: are there this many quarterback whisperers? And so tried to
- 10:43Speaker 3: go back and figure out exactly who it was that
- 10:45Speaker 3: Kevin O'Connell is getting credit for and it's Matthew Stafford
- 10:50Speaker 3: when he was a coordinator. Sorry, I'm pretty sure Matthew
- 10:54Speaker 3: Stafford did not need to be whispered to. I mean,
- 10:55Speaker 3: I'm pretty sure he was throwing for five thousand yards
- 10:58Speaker 3: in Detroit and then it.
- 11:00Speaker 5: Was Kirk Cousins.
- 11:03Speaker 3: Did he really figure out anything with Kirk Cousins or
- 11:06Speaker 3: his Kirk Cousins just played slightly better under him. I
- 11:09Speaker 3: don't see the quarterback whisper really in his resume.
- 11:13Speaker 8: So, Stu, you asked the question, what coaches are overrated?
- 11:17Speaker 8: I have a nominee. Doc Rivers parlayed one Celtic title
- 11:21Speaker 8: with that Big Three into like eight more coaching jobs.
- 11:24Speaker 4: Yes, and nineteen broadcasting jobs.
- 11:26Speaker 3: Yes, dude, And he was gifted the most well fitting
- 11:34Speaker 3: big three in the history of big threes, and that
- 11:37Speaker 3: team was an absolute monster also almost lost in the
- 11:41Speaker 3: first round.
- 11:42Speaker 1: You notice what he did there, Taylor well fitted perfectly
- 11:45Speaker 1: fit because Spose wasn't. And so he was trying to
- 11:48Speaker 1: make the point, Well he wasn't, and that's the point
- 11:50Speaker 1: you were trying to make.
- 11:51Speaker 4: Was it is that fair?
- 11:53Speaker 9: No?
- 11:54Speaker 4: It was.
- 11:54Speaker 3: It was just a jab at Doc Rivers because there
- 11:57Speaker 3: have been some other big three that aren't exactly ideal
- 12:01Speaker 3: and you know whether they worked out or not, but
- 12:04Speaker 3: they those in particular were It's just like a perfect fit.
- 12:07Speaker 8: We also talk about that Celtics Big three like they
- 12:10Speaker 8: were some like massive dynasty.
- 12:12Speaker 9: They won one title.
- 12:13Speaker 3: That's because, I would say probably because of KG injury.
- 12:17Speaker 3: Like right after that first one, there was a couple
- 12:19Speaker 3: of years there where you saw them in the playoffs
- 12:20Speaker 3: and we're like, man, if this team was healthy, they'd
- 12:22Speaker 3: probably run it, uh you know, win it again. But yeah,
- 12:25Speaker 3: it was it was unfortunate. I think Doc probably coached
- 12:29Speaker 3: his best right then. It's not like he's a bad
- 12:31Speaker 3: coach or anything, but he definitely overrated.
- 12:33Speaker 5: That's a great call.
- 12:34Speaker 1: But there's a number of coaches who could have won
- 12:36Speaker 1: with that big three. I mean a number. It probably
- 12:38Speaker 1: would have won.
- 12:39Speaker 3: More, right Yeah, again, if if KG was healthy, I
- 12:42Speaker 3: think even Doc would have won more. But yeah, I
- 12:45Speaker 3: think that's that's probably a coach's dream in that situation,
- 12:49Speaker 3: to go KG, who wants he's crazy about defense and
- 12:53Speaker 3: your best player.
- 12:53Speaker 5: Yeah, it's a good ad.
- 12:55Speaker 1: Janeller, He's he's going to get upset at me asking
- 12:58Speaker 1: this question. Who's big three was more disappointing the Celtics
- 13:02Speaker 1: or the Heats.
- 13:06Speaker 3: You always anticipate me getting upset when I'm not really
- 13:09Speaker 3: gonna get upset because I could argue, Yeah, go ahead
- 13:12Speaker 3: and argue, because I could argue that the Miami's Big
- 13:14Speaker 3: Three was a smart a slight disappointment because you say,
- 13:18Speaker 3: at least three out of four they should have had,
- 13:20Speaker 3: if not four in a row. But you gotta go
- 13:23Speaker 3: with the Celtics one. But again, you gotta throw some
- 13:26Speaker 3: context in there. They weren't fully healthy. But I would say, yeah,
- 13:29Speaker 3: for all the credit that team gets, just the one
- 13:31Speaker 3: title probably leaves you wanting more.
- 13:33Speaker 4: I would say it's the Heats.
- 13:35Speaker 1: I know they won two, they went to four NBA Finals,
- 13:39Speaker 1: But before you even bounce a basketball, you get on
- 13:42Speaker 1: stage and you announce the world that you're gonna win.
- 13:45Speaker 4: Five, six, seven, eight.
- 13:48Speaker 1: That Big three is when you have Lebron and Way,
- 13:51Speaker 1: two of the top ten basketball players of all time,
- 13:54Speaker 1: and you get two in four years. It should have
- 13:56Speaker 1: been better than that. It should have been four consecutive
- 13:58Speaker 1: NBA titles. You know that, you know it should have
- 14:00Speaker 1: been four straight.
- 14:01Speaker 3: To me, I think it should have been three, and
- 14:03Speaker 3: that last one. Those Spurs were not going to be denied.
- 14:06Speaker 3: I don't care if you put Michael Jordan Chamberlain and
- 14:09Speaker 3: Lebron James on that team. Those Spurs were not going
- 14:11Speaker 3: to be denied. But I think that first one against
- 14:13Speaker 3: Dalla is definitely a disappointment.
- 14:15Speaker 4: Taylor has a nominee. Here, go ahead, Taylor.
- 14:18Speaker 9: I don't have a nominee. I just said, let's go
- 14:20Speaker 9: to break.
- 14:25Speaker 4: Ready to take I'm sorry? Is to go ahead?
- 14:28Speaker 1: We're on remote, I'm at the Big Ten Tournament. I'm
- 14:31Speaker 1: covering it for Fox Sports Premiere at iHeartRadio.
- 14:34Speaker 4: And we're a little bit off the last two days.
- 14:36Speaker 2: Be sure to catch live editions of Stu Gotson Company
- 14:40Speaker 2: Live WHEKDCAID three pm Eastern, twelve pm Pacific.
- 14:45Speaker 1: Christopher mad Dog Russo going to join us at about
- 14:47Speaker 1: fifteen minutes.
- 14:48Speaker 4: Looking forward to that.
- 14:49Speaker 1: We have the Bleacher Reports Top one hundred NBA players
- 14:52Speaker 1: of all time coming up in the final segment.
- 14:55Speaker 4: But it is time for Is it just me?
- 14:58Speaker 11: Or?
- 14:59Speaker 4: I am very excited for this? Izzy. Would you like
- 15:02Speaker 4: to get us started today? I'll go to Taylor last Iowa. Sam.
- 15:06Speaker 1: I hope you have one executive producer, Jason. I hope
- 15:09Speaker 1: you have one update anchored, Dan, I hope you have one.
- 15:12Speaker 1: Mikey A is off today, so Isy, go ahead and
- 15:15Speaker 1: get us started.
- 15:16Speaker 3: You're gonna start with me, and I just switched mine up.
- 15:18Speaker 3: And now I'm scared to death by it because during
- 15:20Speaker 3: the break, you guys gave me all these warning signs
- 15:23Speaker 3: and said, don't you dare say anything bad about Scotty Scheffler.
- 15:26Speaker 3: His hive will attack. And I'm like, what Scotty Scheffler
- 15:29Speaker 3: has like a bayhive out there? And so I did
- 15:32Speaker 3: like a little Google search about his fan base and
- 15:35Speaker 3: I see a story from just last year that says headline,
- 15:38Speaker 3: why don't golf fans love Scotty Scheffler.
- 15:41Speaker 5: So I feel like you guys are giving bad information.
- 15:43Speaker 5: So I'm gonna say it is confidently you're ready?
- 15:45Speaker 4: OK? Go ahead? Wow? Dangerous? YEP? Is it just me?
- 15:49Speaker 5: Or has Scottie Scheffler lost it?
- 15:53Speaker 4: Wow? Here's the thing.
- 15:55Speaker 5: I'm playing a little over the top on that. But
- 15:58Speaker 5: it's not just that he's you.
- 15:59Speaker 3: Know, finish I think fourth, third, twelfth, and twenty fourth
- 16:02Speaker 3: in its last four tournaments, and in this tournament won
- 16:04Speaker 3: over so he's eleven shots back. I don't know what
- 16:07Speaker 3: the cut line is, but it's probably not looking.
- 16:09Speaker 5: Great for him.
- 16:10Speaker 3: And so the thing about these golfers that are just
- 16:13Speaker 3: great that just on the top for a while, like
- 16:16Speaker 3: Jordan Spieth, I remember even at Dustin Johnson a Jason Day,
- 16:20Speaker 3: they just kind of they just kind of fall off.
- 16:23Speaker 3: And to me, even the three guys that I mentioned
- 16:26Speaker 3: probably still in their prime when it happened a little bit.
- 16:28Speaker 3: So I'm like, is this the first side of Scotty
- 16:31Speaker 3: Scheffler's You know, his dips might last a little longer,
- 16:34Speaker 3: and you're not gonna see the guy who was on
- 16:36Speaker 3: top of the world the last couple of leeks.
- 16:38Speaker 5: It's just me or it's not a declarative sentence.
- 16:42Speaker 1: No, I understand that if we don't see you on Monday,
- 16:45Speaker 1: and now we know why, I mean.
- 16:47Speaker 4: Because scottis fan base, man, they will come after you. Man,
- 16:50Speaker 4: damn byer.
- 16:51Speaker 5: Does Scotty Scheffler have this level of fan base? Should
- 16:54Speaker 5: I be scared?
- 16:55Speaker 12: Not?
- 16:55Speaker 5: Maybe not the level that you thought.
- 16:58Speaker 13: However, I do think that your take is interesting because
- 17:01Speaker 13: last night Live from the Players Championship spent about fifteen
- 17:04Speaker 13: minutes breaking down on Scotty Scheffler is not in the
- 17:07Speaker 13: positions that he needs to be honest swing when he
- 17:09Speaker 13: was winning multiple majors in a year, when he was
- 17:12Speaker 13: winning two Masters in a span of three years, So
- 17:15Speaker 13: is he well, I wouldn't put him in the Jason
- 17:18Speaker 13: Day category because Scotty Scheffler has put himself up in
- 17:21Speaker 13: a different category than a lot of other contemporaries. He
- 17:25Speaker 13: is not on top of his game right now and
- 17:27Speaker 13: is yeah, hovering around the cut line right now at
- 17:29Speaker 13: TPC Sawgrass Stu.
- 17:30Speaker 9: You know this as well as anybody.
- 17:32Speaker 8: Once you start counting out Scottie Scheffler, that's when he strikes.
- 17:35Speaker 4: Yeah. And if that.
- 17:38Speaker 1: Yeah, when you cut him out, he counts himself in.
- 17:41Speaker 1: The better comparison would be Jordan's speed. That would who
- 17:44Speaker 1: won a bunch of make years early in his career, okay,
- 17:46Speaker 1: and then fell up because the other guys were just
- 17:48Speaker 1: they were one time winners and they kind of just
- 17:51Speaker 1: fell off after that.
- 17:52Speaker 4: Now Jason Day is slowly coming back.
- 17:54Speaker 1: Dustin Johnson won his and then went to live and
- 17:57Speaker 1: he's never coming back. Let's go to our bord out Ricardo,
- 18:04Speaker 1: bord Oup Ricardo, go ahead.
- 18:06Speaker 14: Is it just me or after the America's number one
- 18:11Speaker 14: sport went off of a couple of weeks ago.
- 18:14Speaker 4: Does anyone notice that there's still hockey being played?
- 18:17Speaker 3: Yeah, as a Florida Panthers fan whose team is just
- 18:21Speaker 3: barely out of the cellar in their conference, Yeah, no,
- 18:25Speaker 3: I haven't been paying that close attention.
- 18:28Speaker 1: There's three times in my lifetime there was a supposed
- 18:31Speaker 1: resurgence of hockey.
- 18:33Speaker 4: Hockey is going to boom in the United States.
- 18:35Speaker 1: It was nineteen eighty, it was after Tjoshi's goals in
- 18:38Speaker 1: that shootout, and it was recently when the United States
- 18:41Speaker 1: beat Canada and the Olympics.
- 18:43Speaker 4: And it hasn't worked and nothing will work.
- 18:45Speaker 8: When the USA beat Canada, the hockey season could have
- 18:48Speaker 8: just ended right there?
- 18:49Speaker 5: Are you declaring hockey dads?
- 18:50Speaker 4: Two guys? Yes, Taylor put it on the pall.
- 18:55Speaker 1: When the USA beat Canada, should the hockey season have
- 18:57Speaker 1: ended right there?
- 19:01Speaker 4: That's a good question. Let's go to Let's go to.
- 19:06Speaker 4: Iowa said, I almost called the portop Iowa.
- 19:08Speaker 14: Satisfying where we're both portops ioabio Iowa?
- 19:14Speaker 4: Bam? Is it just oh? I like it? Is it
- 19:17Speaker 4: just me?
- 19:17Speaker 14: Are there too many damn rounds on the Big Ten
- 19:20Speaker 14: Men's Conference Basketball tournament. Steve Gotts, you've been there in Chicago,
- 19:24Speaker 14: observing it, reporting on it firsthand. I don't think we
- 19:28Speaker 14: need Maryland, Oregon, Penn State in Northwestern to start this.
- 19:31Speaker 14: They're they're including all eighteen teams. There's three rounds before
- 19:34Speaker 14: you can get to the quarterfinals. Like last year Iowa Nebraska.
- 19:37Speaker 14: We're battling to stay out of the cellar just to
- 19:39Speaker 14: participate in the conference tournament. I don't understand why we're
- 19:42Speaker 14: back to including everybody. It goes on way too long.
- 19:44Speaker 14: Even if you were in the first round, there's no
- 19:46Speaker 14: way you're gonna win six games to win the conference tournament.
- 19:49Speaker 14: So get rid of that. Go back to the top
- 19:51Speaker 14: fourteen teams. Whatever it is, there's too many damn rounds.
- 19:53Speaker 14: The rent is too damn high.
- 19:55Speaker 4: Is it just soo many words? Yeah? Too many words?
- 19:57Speaker 4: So ready words? Is it just me? Good? Lord?
- 20:01Speaker 2: Man?
- 20:02Speaker 4: Now I was Sam.
- 20:02Speaker 1: I would tell you if you were here and you
- 20:05Speaker 1: could feel the pulse, so you could feel how excited
- 20:08Speaker 1: everyone in for the Big ten tournament, you would wish
- 20:11Speaker 1: that it would never end four round.
- 20:12Speaker 14: I heard that there was like five hundred people at
- 20:14Speaker 14: Penn State Northwestern, Okay, and the Northwestern's in the backyard
- 20:18Speaker 14: of the Big Ten tournament.
- 20:19Speaker 13: Nobody there. A lot of conferences have third rounds. They
- 20:21Speaker 13: just call them semi finals. And that's the problem. There's
- 20:25Speaker 13: six rounds in this Oh, there's the third round and
- 20:27Speaker 13: now we're in the quarters.
- 20:29Speaker 3: Yeah, well, Iowa bam just took fifty shot attempts.
- 20:32Speaker 4: Right volume shooter.
- 20:38Speaker 3: I will say, good for the game, though, good for
- 20:40Speaker 3: the game. If we're still talking about it, is he We're.
- 20:43Speaker 4: Still talking about this goddamn thing.
- 20:46Speaker 1: Let's go to an update. Anchor, Dan, Update, anchor, Dan,
- 20:49Speaker 1: go ahead?
- 20:49Speaker 13: Is it me or did we miss the greatest audio
- 20:53Speaker 13: that we have gotten recent memory because of what happened
- 20:55Speaker 13: with bam Adebayo, what happened with NFL free agency, what
- 20:58Speaker 13: happened with the World base Ball Classic. Because Kansas State
- 21:02Speaker 13: was ousted in the first round of the Big twelve
- 21:04Speaker 13: men's basketball tournament earlier this week, and interim head coach
- 21:08Speaker 13: Matthew Driscoll was asked in the postgame a sort of
- 21:11Speaker 13: a softball question, what have you taken from these last
- 21:15Speaker 13: couple of weeks? Being the interim head coach in place
- 21:18Speaker 13: of the dismiss Jerome Tang. This is how Matthew Driscoll responded.
- 21:22Speaker 9: Absolutely miserable.
- 21:25Speaker 15: I can't use another word than absolutely miserable.
- 21:28Speaker 5: Every day ulcers, not sleeping, not feeling good.
- 21:34Speaker 4: I have an issue.
- 21:34Speaker 9: I have a problem.
- 21:36Speaker 13: It goes on for ninety seconds and he gets he
- 21:39Speaker 13: gets more in depth, but just the absolutely miserable, as
- 21:43Speaker 13: I think something that all of us can well when.
- 21:46Speaker 3: People say that money doesn't solve all your issues, apparently,
- 21:50Speaker 3: if all these coaches are feeling absolutely miserable, I think
- 21:53Speaker 3: they're taking that. They're taking the money and saying I'll
- 21:55Speaker 3: deal with the misery.
- 21:56Speaker 9: Absolutely miserable.
- 21:58Speaker 5: I have a problem.
- 21:59Speaker 1: He said, Right, but if you want to be the
- 22:03Speaker 1: permitent head coach, this is not the way to sell yourself.
- 22:07Speaker 5: What the money's for?
- 22:08Speaker 1: I guess, Oh my god, all right, let's go to
- 22:10Speaker 1: executive producer. That was well done, Dan, Executive producer, Jason,
- 22:14Speaker 1: Go ahead, EP, Jason.
- 22:16Speaker 4: Guys, is it just me?
- 22:17Speaker 12: Or does esp on Breaking News app have to stop
- 22:21Speaker 12: sending me notifications of WMBA Collective Bargaining updates once it's done.
- 22:28Speaker 12: Let me know. Once it's not done and we're missing
- 22:30Speaker 12: games and I miss my Caitlin Clark, let me know
- 22:34Speaker 12: I don't need to know midstream updates on the WNBA
- 22:37Speaker 12: because ESPN is in bed with the WNBA. I get
- 22:41Speaker 12: updates on news I don't need, and I'm about to unsubscribe.
- 22:45Speaker 3: They're probably incakes sending that updates.
- 22:50Speaker 4: I don't think you're gonna unsubscribe. How about that.
- 22:52Speaker 14: French toast By the way, Holly Rowe didn't she put
- 22:56Speaker 14: out some tweet and then she deleted because she can
- 22:58Speaker 14: concluded all these details of what the new agreement might
- 23:00Speaker 14: be and they might be getting a huge pay bump
- 23:04Speaker 14: and pay.
- 23:04Speaker 3: So anyway, but no oapdates.
- 23:09Speaker 4: But turn the notifications off.
- 23:13Speaker 5: Just subscribe to Holly row That's all you need.
- 23:15Speaker 4: Is it just me?
- 23:15Speaker 5: Or is Iowa Bam beamed up like he is?
- 23:19Speaker 4: He has beamed up?
- 23:20Speaker 5: Beam me up, Scottie. I'm gonna give him a coup seat.
- 23:24Speaker 9: Though I'm drinking one right now.
- 23:26Speaker 1: It's a Friday. You know you listen, you know why
- 23:28Speaker 1: I was Sam on a Friday.
- 23:30Speaker 3: I mean, I've never met Iowa Bam. This gets a
- 23:33Speaker 3: little frisk different person. Yes, yes, Taylor, my turn?
- 23:37Speaker 5: Yes?
- 23:37Speaker 4: No, oh okay, skip me go ahead, yes, go ahead,
- 23:40Speaker 4: go Taylor. I forgot you had one No, it doesn't matter.
- 23:43Speaker 4: I don't have one. Go ahead, I want you to go.
- 23:46Speaker 8: Is it just me or the Jets best quarterback since
- 23:49Speaker 8: Geno Smith might actually be Geno Smith again.
- 23:53Speaker 4: That can't be come.
- 23:54Speaker 3: We talked about this and the or at the top
- 23:56Speaker 3: of the show where we would have a power.
- 23:58Speaker 5: Ranking of quarterbacks since Genos.
- 24:00Speaker 3: I was like, yes, can you say power because there's
- 24:03Speaker 3: just you just ranking them.
- 24:04Speaker 5: There's no power any.
- 24:07Speaker 1: Yes, I would say Mark Sanchez is the greatest Jet
- 24:10Speaker 1: quarterback we've had since Geno Smith was last the Jets quarterback.
- 24:14Speaker 9: You got the order wrong.
- 24:15Speaker 5: Yeah, I's gonna say franchise's before Geno Smith.
- 24:17Speaker 4: Lucky for you?
- 24:18Speaker 9: Do I do have the power ranking?
- 24:20Speaker 1: Woh no, wait wait Gino Smith was there his first
- 24:23Speaker 1: time as in New York Jet before sitt It wasn't
- 24:25Speaker 1: a am I na get that wrong?
- 24:27Speaker 5: You're drunk off Jets failure.
- 24:29Speaker 4: No, I d you're wrong. I am drunk off of
- 24:32Speaker 4: Big ten basketball. Okay, that's fun. Yes, that's what I've
- 24:36Speaker 4: been consuming here in Chicago.
- 24:37Speaker 1: All right, go ahead, Taylor, give us the power rankings
- 24:40Speaker 1: of Jet quarterbacks since the last time Geno Smith was
- 24:43Speaker 1: the New York Jets quarterback.
- 24:45Speaker 8: So I consulted here with my roommate Ian. He he
- 24:48Speaker 8: never played football. He works in finance or marketing or something.
- 24:51Speaker 8: But I trust his jets opinions more than anybody really souch.
- 24:57Speaker 8: This is going from best to wors.
- 25:00Speaker 4: Mikey A is going to be outraged.
- 25:02Speaker 9: Go ahead, Yeah, I wish, Yeah, I wish. I consulted
- 25:05Speaker 9: with Mikey I too.
- 25:06Speaker 4: Uh.
- 25:07Speaker 9: Twenty one names on this list?
- 25:09Speaker 4: Wow? What that's unbelievable? Number yeah.
- 25:15Speaker 8: Number one Aaron Rodgers pre Achilles injury. When he brought
- 25:19Speaker 8: out the American player.
- 25:21Speaker 5: That was the first couple of minutes as good as
- 25:24Speaker 5: it gets.
- 25:24Speaker 4: Listen, that was better than name it winning a super Bowl?
- 25:26Speaker 4: Go ahead.
- 25:27Speaker 9: Number two, Ryan Fitzpatrick.
- 25:32Speaker 5: This is from best to worse, best to worse.
- 25:34Speaker 4: Okay, weird? Yeah.
- 25:36Speaker 8: Number three Aaron Rodgers post Achilles injury.
- 25:41Speaker 4: It can't be that, just it can't be that.
- 25:43Speaker 5: Can't wait till you hear the rest of the names.
- 25:45Speaker 4: He can't be the third he gets all right? Good?
- 25:49Speaker 8: Number four current day Geno Smith, all right? Number five
- 25:59Speaker 8: Sam Arnold.
- 26:02Speaker 5: How is Joe Flacco not on this list?
- 26:05Speaker 9: He's coming to this list?
- 26:06Speaker 4: Okay?
- 26:06Speaker 5: I thought it was top five, My.
- 26:07Speaker 9: Bad, number six, Josh McCown. Yeah, we got twenty one.
- 26:11Speaker 4: Oh, my bad, Josh forgown is number six?
- 26:15Speaker 1: All right, you have a you have like fifteen to
- 26:18Speaker 1: go and we have about a minute and a half.
- 26:20Speaker 9: Go ahead, all right, I'll rapid fire a couple of these.
- 26:23Speaker 8: Seven, eight and nine, Gino Smith one point zero, Mike White, Mike.
- 26:27Speaker 1: Vick, Mike beg Oh Mike Vick. I forgot about him.
- 26:31Speaker 1: That was exciting for a moment.
- 26:33Speaker 9: Yes, yes, Mike White, Yes.
- 26:36Speaker 4: Yes, ten a moment?
- 26:38Speaker 9: Ten say ten through fifteen?
- 26:41Speaker 8: Here, Joe Flacco, Tyrod Taylor, Josh Johnson, Zach Wilson, Trevor Simeon,
- 26:48Speaker 8: move falk.
- 26:49Speaker 1: Oh god, fuck you everye Simeon careful, Hey, I said fuck.
- 26:56Speaker 8: Sixteen through eighteen Bryce, Justin Fields, Brady Cook, Justin Field.
- 27:04Speaker 1: Terrible for them, Yes, but Justin Fields came behind you.
- 27:10Speaker 5: What was the name right before?
- 27:11Speaker 4: Justin Field?
- 27:12Speaker 9: Bryce? Petty Baylor quarterback terrible?
- 27:15Speaker 4: All right?
- 27:15Speaker 5: All right, I'm a NASCAR driver.
- 27:17Speaker 8: We have three names left. Number nineteen Matt Simms.
- 27:23Speaker 5: Different family, right, No it's his brother, No?
- 27:25Speaker 4: What? Yes?
- 27:30Speaker 9: Number twenty Chris Streveler.
- 27:34Speaker 5: Who you're just saying names? You're just making stuff up.
- 27:39Speaker 8: And the last quarterback number twenty one, he threw that
- 27:43Speaker 8: pick six on a hail Mary attempt against the Dolphins.
- 27:47Speaker 9: Tim Boyle O my Yeayle.
- 27:50Speaker 2: Be sure to catch live editions of Stu Godson Company
- 27:53Speaker 2: Live Weekday, said three pm Eastern, twelve pm Pacific.
- 28:00Speaker 1: This is an exciting Friday here. I'm in Chicago covering
- 28:03Speaker 1: the Big Ten tournament for Fox Sports Radio Premiere Networks,
- 28:08Speaker 1: and iHeart.
- 28:10Speaker 4: While you're laughing.
- 28:11Speaker 5: Is he so you have all the details ready?
- 28:15Speaker 1: Yeah, Christopher mad Dog Russo is going to join us
- 28:20Speaker 1: at around four twenty. We're very excited for that. We
- 28:23Speaker 1: love having Doggy on the show. I have some sound
- 28:27Speaker 1: to play for Israel Goudyeirez. But I a met today
- 28:31Speaker 1: by Israel Goudieirez, who was still talking about Bam at Abayo.
- 28:36Speaker 1: Bam spoke for himself. He did so on the Dan
- 28:38Speaker 1: Patrick Show. I will play that sound for you in
- 28:40Speaker 1: just a second. Is he But you were really focused
- 28:43Speaker 1: on the Eric Spolstra angle of this story, and I
- 28:47Speaker 1: find that to be equally as interesting I do. I
- 28:49Speaker 1: think Spoe is a guy who hasn't been very vocal
- 28:52Speaker 1: and has kind of found his voice here in the
- 28:54Speaker 1: last five days. It's been interesting to see.
- 28:57Speaker 4: Well.
- 28:57Speaker 5: I mean, I would say he found his voice a
- 28:59Speaker 5: long time ago.
- 29:00Speaker 3: This was just the first time you've heard it in
- 29:02Speaker 3: any sort of significance because he hasn't been super relevant since,
- 29:06Speaker 3: you know, making the finals a couple of years ago.
- 29:09Speaker 5: So I would say that.
- 29:11Speaker 3: Hearing that voice, that defiant voice, that is spo and
- 29:14Speaker 3: that's what he's grown into, and that's the type of
- 29:19Speaker 3: messenger that people should respect. Two time champion obviously four
- 29:23Speaker 3: times or one, two, three, four, five, six times finals
- 29:27Speaker 3: appearances as a coach, and what he said about Bam,
- 29:31Speaker 3: I hope we have that ready. But what he said
- 29:33Speaker 3: about Bam to me just shows how prepared he is
- 29:37Speaker 3: for these moments, regardless of what the subject is.
- 29:41Speaker 15: Basketball wise, I apologize to absolutely no one. And you know,
- 29:49Speaker 15: going into the game, you know it's a Tuesday night
- 29:52Speaker 15: game against a team, whether they're not playing for anything,
- 29:56Speaker 15: whether organization is trying to lose, we've already lost game.
- 30:00Speaker 15: You know, in that kind of situation, we have players
- 30:04Speaker 15: that are sitting out. And I spoke to Bam about
- 30:07Speaker 15: I want as our best player on team captain for
- 30:10Speaker 15: him to be locked in and ready, and he sure was.
- 30:15Speaker 3: So there's a couple of things I take out of that.
- 30:17Speaker 3: Is one, and it's a little bit of an extension
- 30:19Speaker 3: of what I was saying the other day, is when
- 30:21Speaker 3: if you were in that building or just watching while
- 30:23Speaker 3: it was all happening, just how engaged everybody was. Every
- 30:28Speaker 3: fan was from the challenge late in the game that
- 30:32Speaker 3: was unnecessary to the free throws and everybody was locked in.
- 30:35Speaker 4: It was fun.
- 30:36Speaker 3: It was the engagement that you want from your fans.
- 30:40Speaker 3: And this is what the Miami Heat tried to do
- 30:42Speaker 3: all the time. They don't, as Eric Spolster pointed out
- 30:45Speaker 3: about the other team, try to lose. And so we're
- 30:49Speaker 3: here for you guys, and we know that if I
- 30:53Speaker 3: would have taken them, being exposed to taking them out
- 30:54Speaker 3: at seventy nine eighty eighty one, even that the fans
- 30:57Speaker 3: would have been disappointed, The fans would have been off.
- 31:00Speaker 5: Come on, let them do it.
- 31:01Speaker 3: So if the fans wanted it, and certainly Bam wanted it,
- 31:04Speaker 3: it was an obvious choice.
- 31:06Speaker 5: The other thing I take out.
- 31:07Speaker 3: Of that, Bam U Stu is if you remember the
- 31:11Speaker 3: other day on the pod, I was talking about how
- 31:13Speaker 3: the exit of Jimmy Butler and e Donnis has them.
- 31:17Speaker 5: Spoe doesn't have his crazy anymore.
- 31:19Speaker 3: He doesn't have that that feeling of just like I
- 31:22Speaker 3: could say anything and it's going to make them go
- 31:25Speaker 3: three levels higher because they believe in it like that,
- 31:28Speaker 3: Like you almost have to talk like this when when
- 31:30Speaker 3: you're getting that message across they don't have it anymore.
- 31:34Speaker 5: They didn't have it anymore. They have it now.
- 31:36Speaker 3: And that person that that the negative feelings from across
- 31:41Speaker 3: the country, whether it be the media and Tim McMahon's
- 31:44Speaker 3: or whether it be the Kobe fans, they they have
- 31:47Speaker 3: stirred something up in him and those players in that
- 31:50Speaker 3: locker room that gives them something to fight against, and
- 31:54Speaker 3: that is something they haven't had since Jimmy drove them
- 31:58Speaker 3: to the finals or led them to the finals. Be
- 32:00Speaker 3: interesting to see how that translates going forward.
- 32:03Speaker 4: Taylor, did Israel forget my name? What happened there?
- 32:06Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 32:07Speaker 9: I think he called you bam.
- 32:08Speaker 4: He did call me bam. Don't think you and he
- 32:10Speaker 4: called me bam. I mean I.
- 32:12Speaker 5: Almost called you bam. Yeah, I almost called it.
- 32:14Speaker 3: That's because you're over there and I just I'm so
- 32:16Speaker 3: used to you being right, across from here.
- 32:18Speaker 5: I'm sorry I forgot Yes, go ahead.
- 32:20Speaker 9: St I'm going to make a ruling here.
- 32:23Speaker 8: The fact that we're still talking about a regular season
- 32:25Speaker 8: game seventy two hours later.
- 32:28Speaker 9: Yeah, good for the game. This is good for the game.
- 32:30Speaker 5: Thank you.
- 32:30Speaker 4: Yes, very very very good for the game.
- 32:33Speaker 1: Kobe's record getting broken, the guy who broke the record?
- 32:36Speaker 4: What was that? Sam? What happened? Stop?
- 32:38Speaker 3: That was the sound was a gavel? Very well timed,
- 32:42Speaker 3: very well dropped. I'm sorry that you couldn't hear that.
- 32:44Speaker 3: It was worth a chuckle.
- 32:45Speaker 4: Well, if I knew it was coming, I would lay
- 32:47Speaker 4: out for it, you know, broll, this is Iowa.
- 32:49Speaker 3: Sam's always juggling back there. It's spinning plates. But stud
- 32:54Speaker 3: do me a favor, just so I don't pull my
- 32:56Speaker 3: hair out, and people you know listening, don't pull the
- 32:59Speaker 3: hair out. Don't call it a record because it wasn't
- 33:02Speaker 3: a record. Understand that it wasn't a record. Israel. I
- 33:06Speaker 3: don't want to get bogged down on this.
- 33:08Speaker 1: Okay, you have your feelings about it, you're a title
- 33:10Speaker 1: to have those feelings.
- 33:11Speaker 5: Of more, this isn't a feeling.
- 33:12Speaker 4: This is just a fact.
- 33:13Speaker 1: It's not okay, Well, facts whatever, and there are people
- 33:15Speaker 1: who feel passionately the other way. The person I wanted
- 33:18Speaker 1: to hear from all week was Bam, and Bam appeared
- 33:21Speaker 1: on the Dan Patrick Show.
- 33:22Speaker 4: And the reason I want to play this for you.
- 33:24Speaker 1: And the audience is when you hear it from Bam
- 33:27Speaker 1: and you hear how much he respects Kobe Bryant, how
- 33:31Speaker 1: much he respects the game, I think it's going to
- 33:33Speaker 1: change a lot of people's opinion.
- 33:35Speaker 4: So here's Bam on earlier with Dan Patrick.
- 33:38Speaker 11: If it was the other wall round, Kobe would have
- 33:41Speaker 11: been like, I'm shooting but whatever. I and to be
- 33:46Speaker 11: in that conversation as your idol is what to me
- 33:51Speaker 11: makes it. I'm appreciative of it because it's my idol.
- 33:54Speaker 4: It's somebody who I grew up.
- 33:56Speaker 11: Watching the game like I grew up watching him, understanding
- 34:01Speaker 11: what he's still for, and that man was he will
- 34:05Speaker 11: tell you I'm chasing Jordan, whatever record he's trying to get,
- 34:08Speaker 11: I'm trying to break it. And obviously you know I
- 34:12Speaker 11: got the opportunity to do that. Like I said, if
- 34:15Speaker 11: the dead could talk, I will. I firmly believe he'd
- 34:18Speaker 11: be like, congratulations, young fella, like you did some I
- 34:22Speaker 11: thought nobody could could even reach for the next forty
- 34:26Speaker 11: fifty years.
- 34:29Speaker 4: So I find that to be.
- 34:31Speaker 1: Yeah, I find that to be I find that to
- 34:33Speaker 1: be very interesting because you have your listen, you're hearing
- 34:36Speaker 1: from the guy who actually did it.
- 34:38Speaker 4: Right.
- 34:38Speaker 1: This is not Spolstra, this is not the Laker fan base.
- 34:41Speaker 1: This is not Christopher mad Dog Russo, who's going to
- 34:44Speaker 1: join us in hour number two and probably take a
- 34:46Speaker 1: sledgehammer to all your opinions about what Bam did. This
- 34:50Speaker 1: is not me, it's not Taylor, it's not mikey A,
- 34:52Speaker 1: it's not Woes. This is Bam talking about breaking Kobe's
- 34:57Speaker 1: record and how much Kobe means to him, and his
- 35:00Speaker 1: first point, he is right. If Kobe were going after
- 35:03Speaker 1: this record, he would be relentless and trying.
- 35:06Speaker 4: To get it.
- 35:06Speaker 1: And I know it's not the record because the record
- 35:08Speaker 1: belongs to Welt even though no one saw it.
- 35:10Speaker 4: So as you hear that, you think what to yourself.
- 35:13Speaker 3: Well, I think a couple of things, and it sort
- 35:15Speaker 3: of extends what Taylor's point was earlier, just about it
- 35:18Speaker 3: being good for basketball is if you actually pay attention
- 35:22Speaker 3: instead of just you know, saying, oh, Kobe doesn't have
- 35:25Speaker 3: second place anymore? What am I going to do with
- 35:28Speaker 3: my life? You'll see a player who has developed who
- 35:32Speaker 3: is basically an NBA rags to riches story in terms
- 35:37Speaker 3: of ability right, and to be able to do anything
- 35:41Speaker 3: in the vicinity of Kobe Bryant in terms of offense
- 35:45Speaker 3: is good for the game. For that to be rewarded,
- 35:49Speaker 3: but for that to be shown, for that for everybody
- 35:52Speaker 3: to see, look what this person developed into, not only
- 35:56Speaker 3: just the player. It's good that that organization, the Miami Heat,
- 35:59Speaker 3: who has that reputation, can say, look, look what we do.
- 36:03Speaker 3: We do good things for the sport. We turn and
- 36:06Speaker 3: keep our fans happy, even if we're by other people's
- 36:08Speaker 3: standards irrelevant or you know, middle of the pack. We
- 36:11Speaker 3: try to keep our fans happy. And look what we've
- 36:14Speaker 3: developed in this Captain Bam out of Bayo, who we
- 36:16Speaker 3: have said firmly from day one isn't going anywhere, He's
- 36:19Speaker 3: going to be ours.
- 36:21Speaker 5: Look what happened. And when you hear him with that.
- 36:23Speaker 3: Proper perspective and still having the proper admiration for Kobe Bryant,
- 36:28Speaker 3: what are you gonna do other than just hate for
- 36:30Speaker 3: no reason?
- 36:31Speaker 4: You're for it. Yeah, it doesn't matter.
- 36:36Speaker 1: You could hear it from Bam and you're still gonna hate,
- 36:39Speaker 1: and you're still gonna disagree. And that's how passionate people
- 36:42Speaker 1: were about Kobe Bryant, and how passionate they are about
- 36:46Speaker 1: what the heat did to get Bam past Kobe Bryant.
- 36:49Speaker 4: Go ahead, Tylor.
- 36:50Speaker 8: It feels like nobody could agree what the actual scoring
- 36:53Speaker 8: record is. Some people have it Will at one hundred,
- 36:56Speaker 8: but some people are saying we didn't see that. Some
- 36:59Speaker 8: people are putting an asterisk next to Bam and giving
- 37:01Speaker 8: it to Kobe. Still, I'm gonna go on the record
- 37:05Speaker 8: here my scoring record Carmelo Anthony scoring sixty two at
- 37:09Speaker 8: Madison Square Gardens too, because I think if you score
- 37:12Speaker 8: at Madison Square Garden you start with plus forty. So
- 37:15Speaker 8: that record to me is really one hundred and two
- 37:17Speaker 8: points from Carmela.
- 37:19Speaker 1: I'm not certain mine isn't. Willis reed with four points.
- 37:22Speaker 1: Just the fact that he came into that game, played
- 37:24Speaker 1: the game, gave him a couple of buckets, a few
- 37:25Speaker 1: good minutes, and got the hell out.
- 37:27Speaker 4: I mean, so he was the catalyst to them winning
- 37:29Speaker 4: it all. Yes, So I start with the forty.
- 37:31Speaker 3: Forty plus four to forty four, but doing it in
- 37:33Speaker 3: that setting of a game seven at one hundred, I
- 37:35Speaker 3: think it's one hundred.
- 37:36Speaker 5: And forty four points in that game?
- 37:39Speaker 4: Is he?
- 37:39Speaker 1: It is laboul lab funny that fans get upset all
- 37:42Speaker 1: the time about stars not playing, about stars playing less
- 37:46Speaker 1: minutes than they used to play, And now we're getting
- 37:49Speaker 1: upset because a player had the audacity to want to
- 37:51Speaker 1: stay in a game and try to break a record.
- 37:54Speaker 3: I would say the person I'm most disappointed is in
- 37:58Speaker 3: is Victor Winbinyama, because he has positioned himself as the
- 38:02Speaker 3: guy who gets it right.
- 38:05Speaker 5: He is basketball.
- 38:06Speaker 3: Listen to what he says, He's got good perspective, not
- 38:10Speaker 3: on this. He didn't like this sounded a little petty
- 38:12Speaker 3: when he was just like, yeah, I saw it, but
- 38:15Speaker 3: didn't actually see it. He saw the box score because
- 38:16Speaker 3: again he was playing that night, Yes, and yeah he
- 38:20Speaker 3: Normally he'd be a guy that would give proper respect,
- 38:23Speaker 3: maybe not over the top, but give proper respect for something,
- 38:26Speaker 3: especially a big guy. Right the alien that is Victor
- 38:29Speaker 3: winbin Yama. And you see another center doing what he's doing,
- 38:32Speaker 3: pulling up for threes and stuff like that. Was that
- 38:36Speaker 3: was questionable. If I if I was Victor Winbinyama, or
- 38:39Speaker 3: if I was his people, I'd say this is inconsistent
- 38:42Speaker 3: with who you're presenting.
- 38:45Speaker 1: Eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox. That is eight
- 38:47Speaker 1: seven seven ninety nine on Fox. I am told Taylor
- 38:51Speaker 1: has a power ranking of Jet quarterbacks since Geno Smith?
- 38:56Speaker 4: Is that accurate? Yep? Yeah, my god, I got not wait.
- 38:59Speaker 1: Listen, this is what a Friday sports radio show is
- 39:02Speaker 1: all about. Christopher mad Dog Russo power ranking of Jet quarterbacks.
- 39:07Speaker 1: Since you know Smith was last there and is he
- 39:10Speaker 1: coming up to the next segment, I am going to
- 39:12Speaker 1: take you for a stroll down my favorite avenue. It's
- 39:17Speaker 1: called Stu Gott's Avenue. It's a street where everyone lives
- 39:20Speaker 1: and all they do is lie to each other.
- 39:24Speaker 5: Sounds like a terrible place.
- 39:26Speaker 1: Well, I don't know, it depends on your perspective. Eight
- 39:29Speaker 1: seven seven ninety nine on Fox. That is eight seven
- 39:31Speaker 1: to seven ninety nine on Fox. So it was nice
- 39:33Speaker 1: to hear from Bam there, right, because, like I get tired,
- 39:36Speaker 1: we all discussed this stuff and we don't hear from
- 39:38Speaker 1: the horse's mouth, and so that's a great job by
- 39:41Speaker 1: Dan Patrick and Todd Fritz for getting Bam on the
- 39:44Speaker 1: show and a great question by Dan Patrick. And it's
- 39:47Speaker 1: nice to hear Bam because I think that will soften
- 39:49Speaker 1: this a bit for Laker fans, because they are the
- 39:51Speaker 1: fan base that is really the most fired up about
- 39:54Speaker 1: what happened here with Bam, and because they love Kobe Bryant.
- 39:58Speaker 1: But I love hearing from the guy who actually did it.
- 40:01Speaker 1: And then what you hear is, oh, he respects Kobe Bryant,
- 40:04Speaker 1: and this man is a good guy who loves the
- 40:07Speaker 1: game of basketball.
- 40:08Speaker 4: I just find it interesting, you.
- 40:09Speaker 3: Know, Yeah, And it is great to hear from him.
- 40:13Speaker 3: I liked what he said. I want to say it
- 40:16Speaker 3: was after the game last night when they beat Milwaukee.
- 40:19Speaker 3: He was like, with nine minutes left, you don't think
- 40:22Speaker 3: I'm gonna go for it if I have seventy He's like,
- 40:24Speaker 3: with one minute left, two minutes left, maybe, but with
- 40:28Speaker 3: nine minutes left, of course, I'm gonna go for it. Now,
- 40:30Speaker 3: there are people who do counter that and say, you know,
- 40:33Speaker 3: Kobe sat with sixty at the end of the third quarter,
- 40:36Speaker 3: and yes, that's fine at the end of.
- 40:38Speaker 4: A third quarter.
- 40:39Speaker 3: If you're Kobe Bryant and you know you're gonna get
- 40:41Speaker 3: another chance at that, right because you know you're gonna
- 40:44Speaker 3: shoot that many times.
- 40:45Speaker 5: However, whenever you want.
- 40:46Speaker 3: Bam was going to have one opportunity, saw it right
- 40:49Speaker 3: in front of him and took it. And I have
- 40:50Speaker 3: zero problem with that. I do have more problems with
- 40:53Speaker 3: like the Lakers announcers trying to be smart Alex about
- 40:57Speaker 3: this and listen to this. I don't know if you
- 40:59Speaker 3: saw it yesterday. Maybe we can get the sound at
- 41:00Speaker 3: some point later today. But he came out after scoring
- 41:04Speaker 3: fifty one with about a minute and forty seconds left,
- 41:08Speaker 3: and rather than just say, hey, Luca's got fifty for
- 41:11Speaker 3: the first time in the Lakers uniform, the announcer decided
- 41:13Speaker 3: to say he's not chasing any records.
- 41:16Speaker 5: As if Luca could have scored thirty.
- 41:18Speaker 3: Points in a minute forty like it's the most ridiculous
- 41:21Speaker 3: thing I've ever heard.
- 41:22Speaker 5: It was just straight up hating from the Lakers announcers.
- 41:25Speaker 3: And he actually did stay in to score his fifty
- 41:27Speaker 3: one points so that he can get fifty. But no,
- 41:29Speaker 3: he's not chasing any record. Just nonsense, Stop hating on
- 41:33Speaker 3: Bam out of Baio.
- 41:34Speaker 4: It'd be nice if he chased an offensive player on defense.
- 41:37Speaker 5: I think, thank you Stuve.
- 41:40Speaker 3: You'll say something when he's complaining to the referees. Don't
- 41:42Speaker 3: say something when he's scoring fifty and leaving the game
- 41:45Speaker 3: with a minute forty. Don't have any sort of reference
- 41:48Speaker 3: to Bam and has nothing to do with him.
