- 0:02Happy Thursday morning to everybody, man.
- 0:07I'll tell you what it is. Standing room only here in the
- 0:11living room. There's the queen over there.
- 0:17Look, 222 of my bosses. My Mama.
- 0:24If she tells me to jump, I gotta jump.
- 0:29If Kim tells me to jump, I got to jump.
- 0:32And my other boss, Louie. Louie, there he is.
- 0:38Charlie Marlow. Charlie, what are we doing
- 0:41today? We are, to quote Dave Portnoy
- 0:45and Barstow. We're unboxing.
- 0:47We're unboxing the 100,000 subscriber YouTube trophy.
- 0:54That's right. But all right, coffee with Kenny
- 0:58this morning. First of all, they all invaded
- 1:00my space. I made a coffee and I was
- 1:02sitting on the couch and they all start showing up.
- 1:07So Matthew Elder, he's a local racer.
- 1:10This this coffee with Kenny is for Matthew Elder.
- 1:14Matthew came by the shop and I gave him 3 tires that had one
- 1:20race on them, 20 lap feature. And Matthew just sent me this
- 1:24long, long, maybe 3 inch beautiful text.
- 1:29You can tell he put a lot of effort into it.
- 1:31And he said, Kenny, he said, I see how hard you work, you know,
- 1:36as a 60 year old man. And I, he says, I see how you go
- 1:40and win these races as a 60 year old man.
- 1:44And, and it was really a unique thought process.
- 1:47And I said, OK, I'll do the coffee with Kenny for you.
- 1:50He said, what is the difference between the effort that you put
- 1:54in when you won those nine NASCAR races when you were
- 1:58racing for a living in NASCAR between now?
- 2:04You know, my my mom used to have this little statue sitting on
- 2:09our coffee table. It was and it was The thinker.
- 2:12Some of you older people will remember the Thinker.
- 2:16And it was a statue. And the statue was like this.
- 2:20So you know, the great Dick Trickle was a philosopher, too.
- 2:23I think a lot of you are catching on now.
- 2:25This is the one. Don't get mad at me.
- 2:29Blame it on her. The reason I'm the way I am is
- 2:32because of this one. If you're around her at all, you
- 2:35go, oh, now I know why Kenny's the way.
- 2:36He is her. I'm a carbon copy of her.
- 2:40So I am a thinker. I'm a philosopher.
- 2:43I can come along. I can come across as a goofy
- 2:47bastard, but I'm super smart. I've been breaking my arms so
- 2:55much lately. Hey, calm down, calm down.
- 2:58We having fun? I said on another video
- 3:03yesterday, I had a couple people going that Wallace has been
- 3:08sarcastic. I don't know if I like him.
- 3:11We're having fun. We're having fun.
- 3:14You know, when people like to bring, you know, debate in
- 3:17school, that's, you know, debate.
- 3:18You know these to battle debates.
- 3:21Come on, let's battle. I'm going to be right.
- 3:23It's called debate class. So that's where we get it right.
- 3:26You want to be right and I want to be right.
- 3:29So I make fun of it. I'm right, you're wrong.
- 3:33You're a dumb ass. I'm the best.
- 3:37She goes, oh, you should hear yourself.
- 3:40I said I do. I do hear myself, Mama.
- 3:42I love me. So anyway, this is for Matthew
- 3:45Elder. Matthew, I'm 60 years old and I
- 3:50went through that period where I should quit.
- 3:54And then I talked to the greatest race car drivers to
- 3:58ever live. I talked to Don Perdom.
- 4:01I talked to Walker Evans, 12 time off road champion.
- 4:06I talked to Kenny Schrader. They all said to me, Oh my God,
- 4:15don't quit racing because if you quit racing you're going to miss
- 4:18it so much. I had my whole family on my ass
- 4:22to stop racing and it was my own family.
- 4:27It was that one over there, Kim, my daughter.
- 4:32They all said no dad we don't want you to stop racing because
- 4:35we think you'll go crazy, but we just want you to slow down and
- 4:40attend our daughters birthdays and things like that.
- 4:44So here's my answer. I'm long winded.
- 4:47I know you all tell me that too and I'll get I'm getting to the
- 4:52point now. The difference between me back
- 4:54in my NASCAR days as a race car driver and me now is now I don't
- 5:02beat myself up as bad when I run bad.
- 5:07So if I run bad now, I mean by the time I'm loading the race
- 5:12car up, I'm over it. Although it does bother me.
- 5:16So years ago when I was in NASCAR and I did bad, you can
- 5:26you can ask that one over there. It was devastating.
- 5:30So when I did bad in NASCAR, I would break out and welts on my
- 5:34neck and in in my career was over and I was going to live
- 5:39under a bridge in a cardboard box.
- 5:42It was I don't want you to go through it because NASCAR is the
- 5:45highest form of Motorsports there is.
- 5:48And here I am a little redneck kid out of Missouri, and I'm
- 5:50thinking, holy shit, I made it the NASCAR.
- 5:53So anything that happened to me when I raced the NASCAR was God
- 5:58awful, just horrible, because that's where I made all my
- 6:02money. OK, so that's your answer,
- 6:07Matthew. I'm not going to belabor the
- 6:09point. Nowadays I work, I work as hard
- 6:13on my race car right now at 60 years old than I did back then.
- 6:19And the difference is just that I'm not going to keep explaining
- 6:22to myself I'm bad at repeating myself.
- 6:25Finally, here's the difference between now, now and then.
- 6:29Now when I run bad, I'm over it. Don't bother me because I'm at
- 6:34the end of my career anyway. Back then, I could never, never
- 6:39got over to. To this day, it still bothers me
- 6:43that I never won a Cup race, but I run second three times and I'm
- 6:47still a badass. I'm still a badass.
- 6:50And I'll tell you who taught me that, Mark Martin, he would say,
- 6:54Herman, you are the man. Mark Martin is a badass and he
- 6:59carries himself like that and that's why he likes that rap
- 7:02music. So you got to tie all this shit
- 7:05together. There's a lot of psychology that
- 7:07goes into athletes. Listen to the Demi Hamlin
- 7:11conversation. All athletes got to have that
- 7:14edge. And if you don't think you're
- 7:15somebody, you'll lose. Even if you're quiet, you still
- 7:19got to think on the inside. I'm going to kick their ass.
- 7:22So I don't run around the pits going.
- 7:23I'm going to kick your ass. I stay in my own trailer and I
- 7:26race. She likes that because she's a
- 7:30badass. She watched my mom watched that
- 7:35Kenny conversation with Danica Patrick.
- 7:37OK, speak up a little bit. Tell me about that Danica
- 7:42Patrick conversation. I just loved it.
- 7:46I, I, I, I just loved it. I love her grit.
- 7:50I love her determination. I hate all the bad ass guys that
- 7:57got on her case. Mom, they're they're male
- 7:59chauvinist. They don't have a clue.
- 8:01They sit on their ass. Well, somebody should tell him.
- 8:06But anyhow, I I it was a super super super.
- 8:09Conversation. My mom was a race car driver.
- 8:13That's why I like Hayley Deegan. Mom raced.
- 8:16She won everything. I don't know what to say about
- 8:20that. I said it all, all right?
- 8:24We made Charlie happy. We're they 8 minutes and 30
- 8:27seconds got to go?
