- 0:01Speaker 1: Now Seor presents the Mark Simone showy another beautiful day
- 0:12Speaker 1: to day. We got a lot to get to. We'll
- 0:14Speaker 1: get to that crazy, insubordinate, awful, pompous ass Scott Pelly.
- 0:20Speaker 1: We'll get to the White House Correspondence Center. It's back on.
- 0:24Speaker 1: We'll get to Ryan. We'll get to the primaries yesterday.
- 0:28Speaker 1: We'll get to the Knicks. We'll get to Delaney Hall.
- 0:31Speaker 1: We'll get to that goofy Joe Biden, who everyone Democrat
- 0:34Speaker 1: and Republican in the political world agrees is having the
- 0:38Speaker 1: worst rollout of a book ever for any president the
- 0:43Speaker 1: vice president spouse ever in history. So hey, by the way,
- 0:49Speaker 1: the Director of National Intelligence. There's the guy whose name
- 0:54Speaker 1: I'm blanking out on who President Trump has appointed. And
- 1:00Speaker 1: everybody's upset because they don't think he's qualified. They don't
- 1:02Speaker 1: think he's the right choice. They're not happy with this guy. Currently,
- 1:06Speaker 1: he's the housing czar, he's run Fanny and Freddie and
- 1:09Speaker 1: all that. I mean, he's a very competent guy. I
- 1:12Speaker 1: don't know exactly he's not the best choice for Director
- 1:15Speaker 1: of National Intelligence. But here's the thing. Trump is not
- 1:19Speaker 1: appointing him, nominating him to be Director of National Intelligence.
- 1:24Speaker 1: He's just sticking him in as acting National Intelligence Director
- 1:29Speaker 1: till he finds who he wants. He's not going to
- 1:31Speaker 1: be the nominee. When you stick somebody in like this
- 1:35Speaker 1: just acting. He's done this before. I can't remember the names.
- 1:39Speaker 1: First term director of National Intelligence stuck somebody in there
- 1:42Speaker 1: just as acting till he got John Ratcliffe. So don't
- 1:48Speaker 1: worry about this guy. It's just temporary. When you nominate,
- 1:52Speaker 1: when you're not nominated, but when you appoint him acting director,
- 1:56Speaker 1: Congress is not involved. They have nothing to say about it,
- 1:58Speaker 1: don't need any approval, but it gives him whatever he
- 2:01Speaker 1: needs it month, two months, three months, four months to
- 2:04Speaker 1: pick somebody. So this is not going to be the guy.
- 2:06Speaker 1: He doesn't look like the right choice. But he's just acting.
- 2:09Speaker 1: It'll just be temporary. So this Scott Pelly is the
- 2:15Speaker 1: biggest pompous ass in the history of broadcasting. He's been
- 2:19Speaker 1: officially fired, thrown out of there. You heard well, as
- 2:26Speaker 1: we said yesterday, Barry Weisse's new president of CBS News,
- 2:30Speaker 1: brings in a new person to run sixty minutes. You
- 2:36Speaker 1: like him, you don't like him, that's one thing. But
- 2:38Speaker 1: Scott Pelly gets up in the first town hall where
- 2:41Speaker 1: this guy is there to introduce himself to the staff,
- 2:44Speaker 1: and Scott Pelly, the pompous asked that he is tells
- 2:48Speaker 1: the guy off, screaming at the guy, calling him every name,
- 2:51Speaker 1: telling him how bad he is, and he's murdered sixty minutes.
- 2:55Speaker 1: He's the worst thing in the world. Now, first of all,
- 2:58Speaker 1: you got a brand new boss. This is not a
- 3:00Speaker 1: good speech to make. If you got a brand new Boston.
- 3:05Speaker 1: You don't think he's the right kind of guy. Your
- 3:07Speaker 1: opening statement should be you're the worst person ever. You
- 3:10Speaker 1: have done the worst, but bad enough if you went
- 3:13Speaker 1: to his office and said that to him. This is
- 3:15Speaker 1: in a big meeting with the whole staff, in front
- 3:17Speaker 1: of in front of everybody. He tries to bully this guy,
- 3:21Speaker 1: intimidate this guy, he tries to humiliate this guy in
- 3:24Speaker 1: front of the whole staff. Well, it turns out that
- 3:29Speaker 1: this guy was very nice about this. In the beginning
- 3:32Speaker 1: of fact, he suspected that Scott Pelly was not happy
- 3:35Speaker 1: with the choice. So now we find out that before
- 3:38Speaker 1: this big town hall he he sent an invitation to
- 3:42Speaker 1: Scott Pelly said I know you may have disagreements. Could
- 3:45Speaker 1: we meet privately and we can talk them out, you
- 3:47Speaker 1: can air them out, you can tell me what your
- 3:49Speaker 1: problem is. Pelly refused, even invited Scott Pelley to have
- 3:54Speaker 1: dinner with him to discuss things. He refused. So then
- 4:00Speaker 1: Scott Belly pulls this ridiculous stunt in front of the
- 4:03Speaker 1: whole staff. And of course it's the middle of Big
- 4:06Speaker 1: Town Hall. There's a thousand witnesses, so of course it
- 4:09Speaker 1: leaks out. It's all over the place. It looks bad
- 4:12Speaker 1: for CBS News. They then give him one more chance.
- 4:17Speaker 1: Barry Weiss, in this new head of sixty minutes, decide
- 4:20Speaker 1: we'll meet with you privately and settle this and air
- 4:24Speaker 1: this out. Well, apparently when they met with him the
- 4:26Speaker 1: next day privately to air it out, he just told
- 4:29Speaker 1: them off again. He's screaming at how awful, evil, disgusting
- 4:32Speaker 1: the guy is. So what are you gonna do? You
- 4:35Speaker 1: gotta fire the guy is. As Joe Peshi said in
- 4:38Speaker 1: that scene in Casino, this guy was just begging to
- 4:40Speaker 1: be made an example of it. So you gotta fire
- 4:44Speaker 1: the guy. Now there were some people yesterdays. Well, it
- 4:46Speaker 1: can't fire him. He's got a contract. And if they
- 4:48Speaker 1: fire him, they'd have to pay out the contract. They'd
- 4:51Speaker 1: have to pay him five million dollars to fire him. Well,
- 4:56Speaker 1: it turns out you don't have to do that because
- 4:59Speaker 1: what he did was so awful and so inappropriate and
- 5:02Speaker 1: so disgusting. It violated the contract. You know, it's in
- 5:06Speaker 1: every contract. I have it in my contract. We all
- 5:09Speaker 1: have it in our contract. There's a clause in there.
- 5:11Speaker 1: I mean, I can't be fired. It's an ironclad contract,
- 5:15Speaker 1: except there's a clause in there termination for cause. And
- 5:21Speaker 1: it's got all this legal mumbo jumble that goes on
- 5:24Speaker 1: for two pages of what would be caused you can
- 5:26Speaker 1: be fired at. But there's a whole chunk in there
- 5:29Speaker 1: where it says if you do anything to humiliate the company,
- 5:32Speaker 1: embarrass the company, in subordination, you know, all that kind
- 5:36Speaker 1: of stuff. If you cause him, if you cause a
- 5:39Speaker 1: big scene public that embarrasses the company, that's cause you
- 5:43Speaker 1: can be fired to the In fact, if you go
- 5:45Speaker 1: to my Twitter, you can see the letter terminating him
- 5:49Speaker 1: from the New sixty Minutes Boss and it says that
- 5:53Speaker 1: right in there, you're being terminated for cause. So Scott
- 5:57Speaker 1: Kelly is out. He is fired. Some think what he
- 6:01Speaker 1: did was so bad that it had to be suicide.
- 6:05Speaker 1: He had to be deliberately committing suicide and wanting to
- 6:08Speaker 1: get fired. I don't know. I mean, it's a good thing.
- 6:11Speaker 1: For sixty minutes, this sanctimonious pompus asked, who's screaming about
- 6:15Speaker 1: journalism and he's fighting for journalism? Was not a journalist.
- 6:19Speaker 1: He was a fake news guy. If you go on
- 6:23Speaker 1: Twitter the last few days, you see people posting all
- 6:26Speaker 1: the clips of all the fake news he did. Nobody
- 6:30Speaker 1: pushed that Russia hoax more than him. Just an awful guy,
- 6:33Speaker 1: fake interviews with Biden, fake everything. Do you remember he
- 6:37Speaker 1: did a commencement speech? Was it last year? It was
- 6:40Speaker 1: the most bizarre convention speech ever where he just looks
- 6:44Speaker 1: at these you know, convention speech supposed to be happy,
- 6:47Speaker 1: uplifting the message of hope and optimism and motivational speech
- 6:52Speaker 1: to send these kids out into the world. He makes
- 6:55Speaker 1: this gloom and doom speech about how the world is over,
- 6:57Speaker 1: We've lost all our freedom, there's no more democracy. So
- 7:02Speaker 1: I think this is a bit of it. Let me
- 7:04Speaker 1: let me see, listen to this doom and gloom.
- 7:06Speaker 2: But in this moment, this moment, this morning, our sacred
- 7:11Speaker 2: rule of law is under attack. Journalism is under attack,
- 7:18Speaker 2: universities are under attack, freedom of speech is underattack, and
- 7:26Speaker 2: insidious fear is reaching through our schools, our businesses, our homes,
- 7:39Speaker 2: and into our private thoughts.
- 7:41Speaker 1: Listen to this pompous to the.
- 7:43Speaker 2: Fear to speak. In America, power can rewrite history.
- 7:52Speaker 1: So it goes on and on. Can you imagine you're
- 7:55Speaker 1: a graduation and this guy's going to do an hour
- 7:57Speaker 1: of this nonsense. So they should have fired him right
- 8:00Speaker 1: after that speech. But he's a horrible, horrible guy, an
- 8:03Speaker 1: embarrassment to the profession. So he has been fired, and
- 8:08Speaker 1: that's it. What do you think he'll turn up next,
- 8:11Speaker 1: probably MS, NOW, CNN, someplace like that, and he'll do
- 8:16Speaker 1: a Colbert. He'll tell her it was Trump that got
- 8:18Speaker 1: him fired. It's all because of Trump. He was fired. CBS,
- 8:22Speaker 1: by the way, it's the same network beginning this week
- 8:24Speaker 1: put out an official statements and Colbert was actually losing
- 8:28Speaker 1: forty million a year and they, you know, Network TV
- 8:31Speaker 1: is not doing so well right now and they couldn't
- 8:34Speaker 1: continue to sustain these financial losses. So I mean, I'm
- 8:38Speaker 1: sure Trump, you know, yelling and screaming about it, didn't help,
- 8:42Speaker 1: but it was financial reasons something. Here, sixty minutes ratings
- 8:46Speaker 1: are down about ninety percent. If you go to my Twitter,
- 8:48Speaker 1: you'll see the chart, ratings chart, sixty minutes ratings the
- 8:51Speaker 1: last ten years. It's just straight down for ten years.
- 8:54Speaker 1: Now they'll these fake newspeople at sixty minutes to tell
- 8:57Speaker 1: you we're up twelve percent from last year. Yeah, yeah,
- 9:00Speaker 1: they are, but down ninety percent from ten years of secular.
- 9:03Speaker 1: The graph it's like straight down and there's a little
- 9:06Speaker 1: uptick that doesn't mean much of anything. Still way way
- 9:09Speaker 1: down from where it was. Hey, So the White House
- 9:13Speaker 1: Correspondence dinner is back on. It will be June twenty fourth.
- 9:20Speaker 1: Now that's a July twenty fourth. July twenty fourth, that's
- 9:23Speaker 1: a Friday night, usually on Saturday night, July twenty fourth,
- 9:28Speaker 1: and they will not go back to the Hilton for
- 9:31Speaker 1: this makeup dinner. They will not go back to the
- 9:37Speaker 1: Hilton where they always have it. That's where the whole
- 9:39Speaker 1: setup there just didn't seem to be security wise any good.
- 9:44Speaker 1: It was just a bad setup. So guess where it's going.
- 9:48Speaker 1: You'll keep hearing it's moving to the Waldorf Astoria in Washington,
- 9:52Speaker 1: But what they might not mention in some of these stories,
- 9:55Speaker 1: it's really the Trump Hotel. It's the Trump Hotel in Washington,
- 9:59Speaker 1: d C. He built that years ago, right before his
- 10:03Speaker 1: first term. And there's really very fine, prestigious hotels in Washington,
- 10:08Speaker 1: d C. There's the Willard, the hay Adams, but they're old,
- 10:11Speaker 1: they're not that big, and they're old, old, old, old hotels,
- 10:15Speaker 1: you know, the hotels the Truman would stay in it.
- 10:18Speaker 1: That was kind of hotels. So years ago Trump saw
- 10:21Speaker 1: that they didn't have one big, huge, spectacular hotel, so
- 10:24Speaker 1: he built the Trump Hotel. There was an old post
- 10:26Speaker 1: office building and it was spectacular, and every left wing
- 10:31Speaker 1: cook would yell and scream about it, so the worst
- 10:33Speaker 1: hotel and it's evil and boycott it. But if you
- 10:36Speaker 1: talk to travel agents off the record, they would all say,
- 10:39Speaker 1: it's the finest hotel ever in Washington, really luxurious, fine hotel.
- 10:43Speaker 1: It's got a big ballroom, not as big as the Hilton,
- 10:45Speaker 1: but a big ballroom. So it's now the Waldorf Astoria.
- 10:48Speaker 1: Trump sold it a few years ago. Waldorf bought it.
- 10:51Speaker 1: That's where the White House correspondence dinner will be now
- 10:56Speaker 1: that Hilton had the biggest ballroom twenty five hundred people.
- 11:01Speaker 1: But this new ballroom, the new venue, the Waldorf Ballroom,
- 11:05Speaker 1: thirteen hundred seats, so they'll have it there. That means
- 11:08Speaker 1: they got to get rid of twelve hundred people. But
- 11:10Speaker 1: there might be a lot of people who bought tickets
- 11:12Speaker 1: the first time who can't come this time, so it'll
- 11:15Speaker 1: be thirteen hundred people. President Trump has agreed to speak
- 11:18Speaker 1: at this now. At the original White House Correspondents dinner, boy,
- 11:22Speaker 1: did he have a speech ready to go. It was
- 11:24Speaker 1: a real roast, just ridiculing and making fun of all
- 11:27Speaker 1: the fake newspeople. It was a rough, rough roast. But
- 11:32Speaker 1: after what happened the shooting, can you do it again?
- 11:37Speaker 1: Even he said, I don't know whether or not I
- 11:38Speaker 1: can give the same nasty roast at least does it
- 11:43Speaker 1: concerns certain people. But we'll find out. He's got to
- 11:46Speaker 1: redo that speech. It'll be July twenty fourth. Hey, by
- 11:50Speaker 1: the way, the White House Ballroom the Trump wants to build,
- 11:53Speaker 1: he said, that's why we need this White House Ballroom
- 11:56Speaker 1: totally secure, and we could do the White House Correspondence
- 11:59Speaker 1: dinner there well. Head of the White House Correspondents, Jackie Heinrich.
- 12:04Speaker 1: They would never do it in the White House ballroom.
- 12:06Speaker 3: It cuts against the independence of the press from the
- 12:10Speaker 3: government that it covers. So we would never hold our
- 12:13Speaker 3: annual event on government property that was well understood by
- 12:16Speaker 3: the White House. There are also a lot of you know,
- 12:17Speaker 3: government ethics rules. I think a lot of our organizations
- 12:20Speaker 3: would not approve of us getting a gift that is
- 12:23Speaker 3: paid for by taxpayer dollars in the form of a
- 12:26Speaker 3: venue that is public property.
- 12:28Speaker 1: Yeah, well, okay, you can just pay for it. You
- 12:31Speaker 1: pay the Hilton to use the ballroom, you pay the
- 12:34Speaker 1: Waldorf to use whatever you were paying. Just give that
- 12:37Speaker 1: to the White House ballroom. Give it to the government,
- 12:39Speaker 1: just donated. So that would solve that problem. But the
- 12:43Speaker 1: ballroom's a long way off, so we don't have to
- 12:45Speaker 1: worry about that yet. Hey, the California primary, Steve Hilton
- 12:50Speaker 1: did very, very well. Now that's the primary. When you
- 12:54Speaker 1: go into the general, he's great. I mean, he would
- 12:57Speaker 1: be the best governor for California. But you go to
- 13:00Speaker 1: the general, it's a lot of Democratic voters and it's
- 13:02Speaker 1: going to be an uphill climb. It's not going to
- 13:04Speaker 1: be easy. Some political analysts estimate his chance at twenty
- 13:09Speaker 1: five percent. But he's a great campaigner. Last night he
- 13:14Speaker 1: won big in the primary.
- 13:17Speaker 4: It looks very much as if Californias really will have
- 13:21Speaker 4: the chance to vote for change in November and take
- 13:28Speaker 4: and take our state and take our state in a
- 13:31Speaker 4: new direction.
- 13:32Speaker 1: Yeah, and again it's been a one party state for
- 13:35Speaker 1: years Democrat. But who knows? Things are so bad in California,
- 13:39Speaker 1: especially in the cities with the homeless and the needles
- 13:42Speaker 1: and the crime, and maybe people rise up.
- 13:45Speaker 4: We've got the rebel spirit, we've got the hustle, we've
- 13:49Speaker 4: got the attitude. We've got everything we need to make
- 13:53Speaker 4: California golden again except for a good governor and very
- 13:59Speaker 4: soon as well.
- 14:03Speaker 1: Five months await in November. Boy, that would be something.
- 14:05Speaker 1: You get Steve Hilton in California, you get Bruce Blakeman
- 14:07Speaker 1: in New York. Wow. Now La Mayor's race, Pratt pract
- 14:12Speaker 1: did very, very very well. Oh now, let me just
- 14:15Speaker 1: put a big asterisk on all of this. It's California,
- 14:19Speaker 1: so you know what happens there. Like we don't have
- 14:21Speaker 1: the results of the primary for Pratt won't know for
- 14:24Speaker 1: a long time. There's these mail in votes that takes
- 14:26Speaker 1: them days and days and days. They got to get
- 14:29Speaker 1: these mail ins and they gotta count mail in voting.
- 14:32Speaker 1: Is that's where all the cheating happens. As Jimmy Carter
- 14:35Speaker 1: would say, mail in votes very bad. So who knows
- 14:38Speaker 1: what could happen. But Pratt had a great night.
- 14:41Speaker 3: The next five months is I'm gonna have time to
- 14:43Speaker 3: build out this team, to show everybody.
- 14:46Speaker 4: The level of Democratic supporters that have behind me.
- 14:50Speaker 1: Yeah, so we'll see. Hey, of course the Knicks tonight,
- 14:53Speaker 1: that's gonna be a big night. It's in San Antonio,
- 14:57Speaker 1: but there's watch parties being scheduled all over the from
- 15:02Speaker 1: Central Park to the Radio City. They always do these
- 15:04Speaker 1: watch parties. Nick tonight, It's gonna be a big night.
- 15:07Speaker 1: What times of games start? Is it eight thirty? I
- 15:09Speaker 1: think eight o'clock something like that. Coverage I think starts
- 15:12Speaker 1: around seven thirty, but eight o'clock it'll be on ABC
- 15:15Speaker 1: channelson eight thirty, channel seven. Nicks Tonight. You're going to
- 15:20Speaker 1: see Nick stuff all over the place. If you walk
- 15:23Speaker 1: around Mason Square Garden, look at those subways. You come
- 15:26Speaker 1: up the subway stairs and it's all been painted blue
- 15:28Speaker 1: and orange. Looks beautiful. Hey, we'll take some calls. Next.
- 15:31Speaker 1: Eight hundred three two one zero seven ten is the number.
- 15:35Speaker 1: Eight hundred three two one zero seven ten
