Transcript
- 0:00Dayna Roselli: It's episode 285 of Vegas Revealed.
- 0:03Dayna Roselli: Are the Backstreet Boys boosting the Las Vegas economy?
- 0:06Dayna Roselli: I mean, there's sections of stores in Las Vegas that sell white clothing now.
- 0:11Dayna Roselli: I mean, it's I heard that.
- 0:13Dayna Roselli: Yeah, like Nordstrom has a white section.
- 0:15Dayna Roselli: We talk one-on-one with Nick Carter of the Backstreet Boys at a special intimate concert he did here in Las Vegas.
- 0:22SPEAKER_00: Look, uh whatever we can do to help support uh this beautiful city of Las Vegas, in my opinion.
- 0:28SPEAKER_00: Like I said, we were just talking earlier like the guy's jealous because I gotta drive 15 minutes to my house every single day.
- 0:34SPEAKER_00: It's unsaid.
- 0:35SPEAKER_00: I'm sure that they are because I live here.
- 0:38Sean McAllister: And pop singer Ashley Simpson making a big comeback.
- 0:42Sean McAllister: She also sold out two of her Vegas shows and had to add more.
- 0:46Dayna Roselli: Plus, we read some listener text messages and respond.
- 0:50Dayna Roselli: We also chat about a number of hot topics here in Las Vegas.
- 0:54Sean McAllister: Then locals, listen up.
- 0:57Sean McAllister: Fountain Blue has a deal through September 30th that you definitely want to take advantage of.
- 1:03Sean McAllister: We run down the discounts and rewards that'll save you some cash.
- 1:08Dayna Roselli: All this and more coming up on Vegas Revealed.
- 1:11SPEAKER_01: Vegas Revealed, presented by Galindo Law, starts now.
- 1:15Dayna Roselli: Welcome everyone to episode 285 of Vegas Revealed.
- 1:19Dayna Roselli: Dana Roselli and Sean McAllister here, ready to dive into a number of things and also ready to share our interview one-on-one with Nick Carter, because we know a lot of the Backstreet Boys fans are waiting for this interview to drop.
- 1:34Sean McAllister: I mean, the Backstreet Boys fans have been packing the sphere over at Las Vegas for this first seven-week run of shows that the Backstreet Boys have done.
- 1:45Sean McAllister: There have been celebrities in the audience.
- 1:47Sean McAllister: I mean, people have gone absolutely crazy for this show.
- 1:51Sean McAllister: And any snippets that go out, people go bonkers over too.
- 1:55Sean McAllister: So I think people are really going to be interested in this conversation that we had with Nick.
- 2:00Dayna Roselli: Yeah, it'll be good for them to listen through.
- 2:03Dayna Roselli: And then don't worry, we're going to put it on our YouTube too, but we're going to do some different sections.
- 2:07Dayna Roselli: We have video to add to it.
- 2:09Dayna Roselli: We were in the dressing room there at uh Brooklyn Bowl where we we did the interview.
- 2:13Dayna Roselli: So you'll want to watch it too.
- 2:15Dayna Roselli: So listen and watch.
- 2:17Dayna Roselli: Um, but first, I just wanted to say, Sean, because I know we were going back and forth about a story today, but and I know we keep covering the whole is Vegas dead?
- 2:26Dayna Roselli: But it's a such a hot topic.
- 2:28Dayna Roselli: But we were looking at another story today.
- 2:29Dayna Roselli: I think it was CBS News that did one.
- 2:32Sean McAllister: It was, yes.
- 2:34Dayna Roselli: And um, I just want to say I'm kind of over it because I feel like everyone's doing the story now.
- 2:40Dayna Roselli: And have you noticed a lot of the TV news stories, which I'm surprised, are kind of staying with the same theme.
- 2:47Dayna Roselli: Like if one does it, another one does.
- 2:49Dayna Roselli: I feel like they take the theme and what they've heard, and then they go and find the sound bites that they want to support that theme.
- 2:59Dayna Roselli: I'm feeling that.
- 3:00Sean McAllister: I am feeling that too.
- 3:01Dayna Roselli: Because all the stories are looking and sounding the same.
- 3:04Sean McAllister: And there's not really any uh there's not really any other side to the story either.
- 3:13Sean McAllister: You know, it's like a single business owner who's like, oh, I'm the prices are high.
- 3:18Sean McAllister: The prices are high, people are staying away.
- 3:21Sean McAllister: But there's not a flip side like like what we did a few weeks ago when we talked about the fact that if you look historically at the tourism numbers, yes, we're in a dip, but we're by no means dead.
- 3:35Sean McAllister: No, not that.
- 3:36Sean McAllister: So it's just yeah, it's not giving all these news stories, they are not giving an accurate uh depiction of what's actually going on here.
- 3:47Sean McAllister: Is there a slump?
- 3:48Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 3:48Sean McAllister: Are people who work on tips not getting as many tips?
- 3:52Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 3:53Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 3:54Sean McAllister: But uh there's many things that can be true at the same time.
- 3:57Dayna Roselli: A lot of people across the country aren't getting raises or they're having to take pay cuts.
- 4:02Dayna Roselli: Well, and contracts aren't being renewed.
- 4:05Dayna Roselli: It's well, we're just you just work and it's not a singularly Las Vegas story.
- 4:10Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 4:11Dayna Roselli: And listen, I feel bad for everyone.
- 4:13Dayna Roselli: Of course.
- 4:13Dayna Roselli: We all want to make our best money.
- 4:14Dayna Roselli: I want everyone to make Thrive and make tips and all that, but it just seems like some of the storylines are convoluted.
- 4:19Dayna Roselli: There was an article in the Business Insider that was really well done.
- 4:23Dayna Roselli: And the female reporter came to town, I forget her name, but anyway, I shared it on one of my stories.
- 4:28Dayna Roselli: She came to town and said, Vegas is far from dead.
- 4:31Dayna Roselli: In fact, I would have liked it to be a little bit slower.
- 4:34Dayna Roselli: She was in town to see Kelly Clarkson, uh, not realizing, you know, that she would cancel.
- 4:39Dayna Roselli: Obviously, she had that emergency.
- 4:40Dayna Roselli: But then she went on to talk about the reasons that it is slower than normal.
- 4:47Dayna Roselli: You know, it and prices are higher.
- 4:50Dayna Roselli: There is a whole sense of people are not traveling internationally or they're not wanting to spend as much money.
- 4:57Dayna Roselli: And it can be expensive, depends how you do it.
- 5:00Dayna Roselli: And all anyway, she goes into a whole thing, interviewed a lot of different people, which I thought was really well done.
- 5:06Dayna Roselli: So if you get a chance, I'm sure you'll find it.
- 5:08Dayna Roselli: Just uh Business Insider and Search Las Vegas, it's probably the latest article they did there.
- 5:13Sean McAllister: Yeah, and I mean, I've even uh spoken with some uh friends who work down on the strip, and even as far as uh individual properties are concerned, like we see the dip in the hotel occupancy, but uh even that's a property-by-property basis.
- 5:33Sean McAllister: I mean a friend I talked to at one property in the center of the strip said that they've been in the mid-90s for hotel occupancy.
- 5:42Sean McAllister: So it's a case-by-case basis, and it's like it's almost like when you look at statistics, you can manipulate those statistics to support whatever narrative uh you want them to support.
- 5:55Sean McAllister: And I think that's kind of what's happening here.
- 5:58Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 5:59Dayna Roselli: People might but just be too like and you think about local restaurants just cutting out going out to eat.
- 6:04Dayna Roselli: I mean, this is what happens when there is a slump.
- 6:06Dayna Roselli: They got the the we're having a little bit of an issue with the economy here, and so uh people aren't going out to eat to some of these restaurants, and maybe they used to go three days three days a week and now they're going once or none.
- 6:18Sean McAllister: And as we've talked about before, there are political influences at work right now too, and that international travel even from Canada that we rely on.
- 6:29Sean McAllister: Like a third of our visitors generally come from Canada, and that's not happening right now.
- 6:36Sean McAllister: I think uh Mayor Shelly Berkeley uh in a one of her city council addresses said it's uh the the flow of visitors from Canada is usually like turning on the the spigot and the waters flowing, and right now it's a drip.
- 6:52Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 6:53Dayna Roselli: Yeah, true.
- 6:54Dayna Roselli: That's true.
- 6:55Dayna Roselli: There's a lot, you know, going on.
- 6:57Dayna Roselli: And um, I know that we have Labor Day coming up, and uh you know I guess the big takeaway for anyone who wants to visit Vegas is there are some great deals going on, take advantage.
- 7:08Sean McAllister: There's incredible deals.
- 7:10Sean McAllister: As a matter of fact, Triple A came out with their uh list of the top domestic destinations for Labor Day weekend, and Las Vegas is right there in the top 10.
- 7:21Sean McAllister: So there is still interest in coming here, and like you just said, now is actually a great time.
- 7:28Sean McAllister: And we've been saying this for weeks here on the podcast.
- 7:31Sean McAllister: Now is the time to take advantage of deals because there are deals.
- 7:35Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 7:36Dayna Roselli: Oh I know.
- 7:37Sean McAllister: I mean it's good, and it there are deals, and it's good for locals that live here too, you know, because I will say this is a conversation that we were kind of having uh over text uh earlier today, and I do think that the um there's been talk about the the price gouging of Vegas visitors, and uh I do think that having ca hotel casino operators that are that have these owners that are a public company, a publicly traded company, that have to answer to their shareholders, like that is going to create a situation where the company needs to deliver profits, higher profits, every single quarter.
- 8:22Sean McAllister: And how do you do that?
- 8:24Sean McAllister: You have to squeeze more, you need to c and uh that's just not I don't think it's a sustainable uh model.
- 8:32Sean McAllister: You know, you look back at the old days when I mean we were just looking back at an interview we did with Frankie Shinta and he was talking about the residency model in Las Vegas, and casino operators used to look at entertainment and they're like, you know what?
- 8:47Sean McAllister: We're just gonna give people great entertainment because we know that's gonna lead to people staying on our property in hotel rooms, uh eating on our property at our restaurants and gambling at our property.
- 9:00Sean McAllister: Yeah, but they don't look at it like that anymore.
- 9:02Sean McAllister: No.
- 9:02Sean McAllister: I mean, the people when they look at their spreadsheets, they need to know what kind of return on investment are we getting from every single person who's employed in that theater.
- 9:12Sean McAllister: And you know, it's just such a bean counter way of looking at it, and that's not a way to make people feel like they're getting value for their dollar.
- 9:22Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 9:22Dayna Roselli: Well, you were recently at a show at The Wynn, you went to a five o'clock comedy show, right?
- 9:28Sean McAllister: It was.
- 9:29Dayna Roselli: And you were sitting near some people who said, We're still coming in, we're going to this comedy show, we're walking the strip, we're doing our thing, but we usually would come for longer, but we're coming just for two days, like to shorten the price of having to buy another room for another night, or yeah.
- 9:42Sean McAllister: Yeah, I mean, and they they I mean, packed a lot into their visit.
- 9:47Sean McAllister: We just were chatting.
- 9:48Sean McAllister: It was uh two ladies who came in from Atlanta.
- 9:51Sean McAllister: Uh they came in on a Thursday night.
- 9:53Sean McAllister: Uh so they stayed Thursday and Friday night.
- 9:57Sean McAllister: Uh, came in on Thursday night, woke up, uh, did a bunch of stuff on Friday, went to Backstreet Boys at Sphere on Friday night.
- 10:06Sean McAllister: Uh, then Saturday they uh walked the strip, went to a bunch of different properties, gambled a little, uh, came to the comedy show at 5 p.m.
- 10:18Sean McAllister: And then they had their flight out at like 8 45 or 9 o'clock.
- 10:24Sean McAllister: So they were packing it in in and out, but uh they they said they were having a blast.
- 10:30Dayna Roselli: Yeah, they saved money on having to book another room that night.
- 10:33Dayna Roselli: Yeah, okay.
- 10:34Dayna Roselli: You liked the five o'clock show.
- 10:36Sean McAllister: I loved the five o'clock show.
- 10:38Sean McAllister: Right.
- 10:39Sean McAllister: It was, I mean, it's a little weird getting ready at 4 30 to go to a show.
- 10:45Sean McAllister: I will say that.
- 10:46Sean McAllister: Right.
- 10:46Sean McAllister: However, when you get out of that five o'clock show, it's only 6 30.
- 10:52SPEAKER_04: I know.
- 10:53Sean McAllister: We had weird.
- 10:54Sean McAllister: We went to dinner after that and we're still home by 8 45.
- 11:00Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 11:00Sean McAllister: I was like, this is the way to do it.
- 11:03Sean McAllister: I thought it was great.
- 11:04Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 11:05Dayna Roselli: I mean, we have different opinions on that because I feel like Vegas is like the sun goes down, the lights turn on, and it's time for shows and entertainment.
- 11:13Dayna Roselli: And it that would feel so weird to me to go to a 5 p.m.
- 11:17Dayna Roselli: show.
- 11:17Sean McAllister: I don't know.
- 11:18Sean McAllister: It was really nice.
- 11:19Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 11:20Sean McAllister: I mean, it was kind of like it was like going to a happy hour show, kind of.
- 11:24Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 11:24Sean McAllister: You know, you get your cocktail, sit down in the theater, have your listen, it's an option for sure.
- 11:30Dayna Roselli: I don't want Vegas to become five o'clock shows, though.
- 11:32Dayna Roselli: I guess that's what I'm saying.
- 11:33Sean McAllister: I think there should be an option though.
- 11:35Dayna Roselli: I like that there are options for five o'clock shows, and for people who like to do that, totally makes sense.
- 11:39Dayna Roselli: I just don't want Vegas to become five o'clock shows.
- 11:42Dayna Roselli: Oh, yeah.
- 11:42Dayna Roselli: Or I don't even really want Vegas to become six o'clock shows.
- 11:44Dayna Roselli: Yeah, I mean, I think after six seven, seven, seven thirty.
- 11:48Sean McAllister: Everything needs to be that early, but it's nice to have an option that doesn't make it so you uh get home at midnight.
- 11:59Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 12:00Dayna Roselli: Um, okay, so chime in.
- 12:02Dayna Roselli: Text us.
- 12:03Dayna Roselli: Did you like that idea?
- 12:04Dayna Roselli: I'm sure a lot of you will.
- 12:05Dayna Roselli: Um, but I did want to just quickly mention I overheard a conversation at the airport.
- 12:09Dayna Roselli: A bunch of people stayed at Park MGM, literally because it's the only no non-smoking hotel.
- 12:15Dayna Roselli: And I was just listening to them talk, and they were saying we couldn't even bear going through other hotels because of the smoke smell and all this stuff.
- 12:21Dayna Roselli: And they were having a conversation like, do you think more will, you know, follow suit?
- 12:25Dayna Roselli: And then the one guy was like, Well, I don't, I don't know.
- 12:28Dayna Roselli: I mean, they must have done surveys and stuff, and they're not doing it.
- 12:31Dayna Roselli: So it must mean that the surveys and the statistics and research they've done show that people don't want it, but they did like the idea that it was part of MGM.
- 12:40Dayna Roselli: They're like, you know what?
- 12:41Dayna Roselli: It's nice that it's such it's a group with so many hotels, and they could at least make one of their hotels non-smoking that gives people an option.
- 12:49Sean McAllister: Well, I think it is a nice option to have.
- 12:52Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 12:52Sean McAllister: Because what did I step into?
- 12:54Sean McAllister: I went somewhere the other day.
- 12:56Dayna Roselli: We went to the link.
- 12:58Sean McAllister: We did go to the link, and I think I stepped in there and I was like, oh, I it like was a little ashtray-ish.
- 13:06Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 13:06Sean McAllister: And I don't know that.
- 13:08Sean McAllister: I know I personally don't like that.
- 13:09Sean McAllister: I that's why I love Park MGM because you go in there, it smells nice and fresh, and you know, it's got newer ventilation.
- 13:20Dayna Roselli: Well, and it's interesting because what did we walk into the other day?
- 13:24Dayna Roselli: It the Westgate.
- 13:25Dayna Roselli: It it's a you can smoke on the casino floor, but wasn't it the smoke?
- 13:28Dayna Roselli: Not in the sports book.
- 13:29Dayna Roselli: We saw a sign that said it's a non-smoking sports book, and I was like, wow, that's interesting.
- 13:35Dayna Roselli: I had no idea.
- 13:36Dayna Roselli: So maybe more spots are as long as they offer places, I guess, for people to smoke.
- 13:41Dayna Roselli: Like you can go here, you can go there.
- 13:43Dayna Roselli: I mean, I don't know.
- 13:44Dayna Roselli: I don't know.
- 13:45Dayna Roselli: But anyway, that's been a long debate, but we do have a property in town on the strip that is a non-smoking hotel, and that is Park MGM.
- 13:53Dayna Roselli: So these folks, they love their trip.
- 13:55Dayna Roselli: They literally specifically came and stayed at that hotel because of that.
- 14:00Sean McAllister: So I thought that was good.
- 14:01Sean McAllister: Yeah, I it's a good option to have because it is going to attract people.
- 14:06Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 14:06Sean McAllister: Uh, something else that we mentioned that is attracting thousands and thousands of people uh is the Backstreet Boys residency over at uh the sphere.
- 14:18Sean McAllister: They just wrapped up uh their first seven weeks.
- 14:22Sean McAllister: This is the original seven-week run of their shows.
- 14:26Sean McAllister: It's since been announced that they'll be back in uh December, January, February for more shows.
- 14:33Sean McAllister: Um, but man, just what a smashing success has that residency been.
- 14:39Dayna Roselli: It's been incredible.
- 14:41Dayna Roselli: And we have a fan note about that, which a text message.
- 14:45Dayna Roselli: Should we read it after the interview or now?
- 14:47Sean McAllister: Uh let's go now.
- 14:48Dayna Roselli: Okay.
- 14:48Dayna Roselli: Well, because you and I have been talking about this residency for a long time and how successful it is and how we went and how it's like the biggest like show that people are talking about right now.
- 14:58Dayna Roselli: Obviously, this run is over, like you said, but we did get a text message from Amy.
- 15:02Dayna Roselli: And Amy, let's see, where does Amy live?
- 15:04Dayna Roselli: I don't know if she says.
- 15:05Dayna Roselli: Uh anyway, uh, she says, Hi, love your pod, been listening lately as we plan our elopement trip to Vegas for the fall of 2025.
- 15:12Dayna Roselli: I heard you mention how the Backstreet Boys fans took over Vegas and have really helped the area with their show at the sphere.
- 15:18Dayna Roselli: Please don't forget about new kids on the block returning this fall and beyond to Vegas.
- 15:24Dayna Roselli: They were uh there this summer, um, and uh it was an incredible show and returning November and February for more at Dolby Live at Park MGM.
- 15:33Dayna Roselli: I can't wait.
- 15:34Dayna Roselli: The blockheads are flocking to Vegas from all over to experience the show.
- 15:38Dayna Roselli: You may have mentioned this in one of your previous podcasts, and I missed it, but wanted to give a shout out for all the new kids on the block fans and uh thanks for all you do to keep us informed on all things Vegas.
- 15:48Dayna Roselli: So that was a note from Amy.
- 15:50Sean McAllister: Well, thank you, Amy.
- 15:51Sean McAllister: We appreciate that.
- 15:53Dayna Roselli: We do, and we I'm glad she pointed out that you may have mentioned this before because we have many times we've talked about new kids on the block.
- 15:59Dayna Roselli: I'm a huge fan.
- 16:00Sean McAllister: Well, it was the the it was really leading into the summer.
- 16:03Sean McAllister: So we said it was the summer of the boy bands in Vegas.
- 16:06Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 16:07Dayna Roselli: And I think we talked about when they announced it.
- 16:09Sean McAllister: Oh, yeah.
- 16:10Dayna Roselli: How they're entertaining they are.
- 16:11Dayna Roselli: We saw them at iHeart last year.
- 16:13Sean McAllister: We've talked about it they get down in the crowd, get up close, have a great time.
- 16:17Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 16:17Dayna Roselli: They kicked off in uh, I think it was June, and I was out of town.
- 16:21Dayna Roselli: Um, I think you were too, and we couldn't go.
- 16:23Dayna Roselli: So um, maybe we'll try and hit it up this run.
- 16:26Dayna Roselli: But I'm hearing nothing but great things.
- 16:28Dayna Roselli: They are fantastic performers.
- 16:30Dayna Roselli: New kids are great, and yes, that show's selling out, doing well, and so it'll be nice to have them back in town here shortly.
- 16:38Dayna Roselli: And it's cool because like the backstreet boys take a break, new kids coming in, something for everyone.
- 16:42Dayna Roselli: Right, and a lot of there's a lot of crossover there.
- 16:44Sean McAllister: There is, there's a ton of cross, and that's you know, more of the the same type of nostalgia, you know, from the same era.
- 16:52Sean McAllister: Uh those November, there's a lot of dates in November, pretty much well, it's the first half of November that uh NKOTB will be back at Dolby Live at Park MGM and then probably before F1 half of February.
- 17:07Sean McAllister: Okay.
- 17:08Sean McAllister: Yeah, it's November 1st through the 15th.
- 17:10Sean McAllister: Got it, and then February 14th through the 28th.
- 17:13Dayna Roselli: Oh, Valentine's Day.
- 17:15Dayna Roselli: New with new kids.
- 17:17Sean McAllister: But only if you've got the right stuff.
- 17:19Dayna Roselli: Uh well, yeah, that's the fast.
- 17:20Dayna Roselli: I've got a lot of little love songs too.
- 17:22Dayna Roselli: Please don't go girl.
- 17:24Sean McAllister: Oh my gosh.
- 17:26Dayna Roselli: And so, you know, that'll be a good little romantic.
- 17:30Sean McAllister: That will, but yes, we are we're all on board with everything NKO T B as well.
- 17:37Sean McAllister: And I think we even talked about, we did.
- 17:39Sean McAllister: We talked about uh Donnie Wahlberg and Jenny McCart McCarthy uh loving berries over at Circa.
- 17:47Dayna Roselli: Yeah, we sure did.
- 17:49Dayna Roselli: And uh many things through the many times, anyway.
- 17:53Sean McAllister: So total sidebar, but I also was just looking at Peppa from Salt and Peppa.
- 17:58Sean McAllister: I was going through her Instagram and she went to New Kids.
- 18:01Sean McAllister: Oh, yeah, and they were all coming down and giving her hugs and it made me smile so big watching that.
- 18:09Dayna Roselli: It was awesome.
- 18:11Dayna Roselli: And because I saw them on one of their mixtape tours and they had salt and peppa with them.
- 18:15Dayna Roselli: So they're all you know BFFs.
- 18:17Sean McAllister: Interconnected and yeah.
- 18:19Dayna Roselli: So that that was great.
- 18:20Dayna Roselli: That was a great, a great um video that they posted.
- 18:24Dayna Roselli: Um, we also got a note from Rob out of Atlanta, Georgia, who loved episode 284.
- 18:30Dayna Roselli: And that was our um, we did kind of a new episode, but relived and replayed our interview with former mayor of Las Vegas, Oscar Goodman, former alleged mob attorney, Oscar Goodman.
- 18:45Dayna Roselli: Um, and it is one of the funniest, most entertaining, most interesting interviews I think we've ever done.
- 18:51Dayna Roselli: So um, Rob was saying, I remember the original.
- 18:54Dayna Roselli: Thanks for a great show again.
- 18:56Dayna Roselli: So thanks, Rob from Atlanta, who also supports the show um and has supported the show since we started in 2020.
- 19:02Dayna Roselli: So we appreciate that.
- 19:03Sean McAllister: So now back to Backstreet Boys.
- 19:06Sean McAllister: Yes, and Nick Carter, who put on a special fan event over at Brooklyn Bowl.
- 19:13Sean McAllister: He has a new uh solo album out of his own, and he did some songs off of that album.
- 19:19Dayna Roselli: Yeah, he did, and it was great.
- 19:21Dayna Roselli: Um we were laughing because it was so raw and he was so funny.
- 19:26Dayna Roselli: He was hilarious stage.
- 19:27Dayna Roselli: He was like, Some of these songs I might not even know the words to.
- 19:30Dayna Roselli: I might have to like read them off my computer or my phone.
- 19:33Dayna Roselli: So it was hilarious, and we loved it.
- 19:35Dayna Roselli: I mean, listen, Nick was doing uh two shows that day.
- 19:39Dayna Roselli: That show, then the final show with the sphere, which is you know is gonna be a lot of output.
- 19:43Dayna Roselli: Sure is because you're gonna have people coming in to meet and greet, you're gonna have anyone celebrating.
- 19:48Sean McAllister: He had a sphere show the previous night.
- 19:51Sean McAllister: So he was out doing that show in the after party and then going home to the family and you know, up early, getting ready for this show, having a quick break, and then go do the sphere stuff all over again.
- 20:04Dayna Roselli: Yeah, that's a lot.
- 20:05Dayna Roselli: I was looking at him, I was tired looking at him, but his energy was great on stage.
- 20:09Dayna Roselli: He was answering some questions from the crowd.
- 20:11Dayna Roselli: It was at Brooklyn Bowl, like you said, and then the um proceeds went to the Foundation for Recovery.
- 20:17Dayna Roselli: Nick is very charitable, he loves Las Vegas, and you're gonna hear all about that.
- 20:22Dayna Roselli: Um, but not only two shows in one day, he also took time to meet with us and do a one-on-one interview.
- 20:28Dayna Roselli: And I'm thinking, like, Nick doesn't have to do this, but he did, and I love that about him.
- 20:33Dayna Roselli: It is so appreciated.
- 20:34Sean McAllister: He did.
- 20:35Sean McAllister: So we went backstage uh to his dressing room after that show and talked to him about life in Las Vegas, what he does off stage, of course, that record-shattering uh residency that they have over there at Sphere as well.
- 20:52Sean McAllister: And it was a it was a great conversation, and we're excited for you to listen.
- 20:57Sean McAllister: Nick, good to see you, man.
- 20:58Sean McAllister: See you as well.
- 20:59Sean McAllister: So you just wrapped up a listening party for your new album, and this was a really uh intimate performance.
- 21:07SPEAKER_00: Why did you want to do that?
- 21:08SPEAKER_00: Well, I I intentionally wanted to um show up and kind of be not prepared.
- 21:14SPEAKER_00: Because Sphere is always like very structured and prepared.
- 21:19SPEAKER_00: So um, and I told my uh DJ, uh my friend Zoo, I said, Hey, listen, like just get a couple of the songs queued up, um, and then we'll just see what happens, and I'll tell some stories.
- 21:29SPEAKER_00: And but really what it was the intention was um to just be able to look these fans in their eyes and say, Thank you so much, and I hear them tell a little story, you know, take my time with them.
- 21:41SPEAKER_00: Um, you know, I did a bunch of pictures and stuff and did that with them before we did the event.
- 21:46SPEAKER_00: And um it's just important to me because you know, I always want to stay grounded and remember where we came from.
- 21:52SPEAKER_00: You know, we have our peaks and valleys, and our career always have, um, and right now is a pretty high peak.
- 21:58SPEAKER_00: And um And so I think it's like it's just a thank you.
- 22:03SPEAKER_00: That's all it is.
- 22:04SPEAKER_00: Thank you so much for for giving us a career and just being grateful for that.
- 22:08SPEAKER_00: And and for the album, it's just uh Love Life Tragedy album.
- 22:13SPEAKER_00: I put this thing out about a couple months back and um I had been working on um solo music, but but it really wasn't intended for it to be anything other than sort of like a lip my diary, uh, you know.
- 22:25SPEAKER_00: And so I would record a lot of songs here in Las Vegas, most of those songs on that record, right here in the studios.
- 22:32SPEAKER_00: Um and whenever I got inspired or I felt like I wanted to tell a little story about my life, um, you know, I I did it and then I finally put it out and like it went number one worldwide, um, which I was like, I what is going on?
- 22:46SPEAKER_00: I have no idea.
- 22:47SPEAKER_00: And but just those fans uh are the ones who have grown up with me, you know, since I was 13 years old and when I was introduced with Baxhe Boys at 15 to them, they've seen my life, you know, and so I just you know told them this little story time, you know, in between each song uh that we did uh up there and and really make it um like I said, it's things are very structured with the sphere, but make it very impromptu and um just real and um and that's what this was.
- 23:20Sean McAllister: Yeah, and I know you talked about that there was there's Vegas inspiration on this album when things came to you, you went straight to the studio to to get it down, and also uh like some 80s influence in the music too.
- 23:33SPEAKER_00: Yeah, the the album has a lot of um because as a Backstreet boy or as a lover of just music, um our our music has always been very eclectic.
- 23:44SPEAKER_00: Uh uh we have some rock songs, we have some just pop, a little bit of RB, a little bit of everything, because we're vocal harmony group first, you know.
- 23:53SPEAKER_00: We could sing to whatever as long as we can sing probably par harmony and whatever.
- 23:56SPEAKER_00: Um and so I carried that over into this record when I was writing and recording.
- 24:00SPEAKER_00: And um, yeah, so there's a lot of country influence, there's a lot of RB, there's a lot of um 80s, uh, and those are all kind of sonically um type of music that actually inspired me when I was little, and so it all is kind of sprinkled in the Love Life tragedy album.
- 24:17Sean McAllister: And there's potential of uh shooting a music video out here in the desert?
- 24:20SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I'm just trying to get some time.
- 24:22SPEAKER_00: Uh I have the treatment already ready.
- 24:24SPEAKER_00: Uh, and that's what I uh when I was telling some stories on stage about those songs, that's what they want to hear.
- 24:29SPEAKER_00: They you know they want to know like the ins and outs of like you know, the the creative process of the business, and and so I was able to tell them about the idea for the song called Wild Heart, which is one of my favorite songs on the record.
- 24:41SPEAKER_00: Uh, and the video would be kind of like a tombstone kind of western feel, and yeah, Calico is pretty close.
- 24:49SPEAKER_00: Um any anybody anybody uh have a um a ghost town anywhere?
- 24:53SPEAKER_00: Uh a ghost shoot, but I just gotta get some time, but I think it's gonna be a really cool video.
- 24:57Sean McAllister: Well, and uh time is gonna be pretty short when you get out back to uh baseball coaching, step off the stage right into baseball, huh?
- 25:05SPEAKER_00: Yeah, no, I committed to um uh uh a club team out here um to start a team with uh two of my buddies.
- 25:13SPEAKER_00: Uh one of them is uh Chief Master Sergeant at Nellis Air Force Base.
- 25:16SPEAKER_00: Um his name is Jesse Churchill, and then another one, um Jared, uh he's a retired Air Force, and they're both Air Force.
- 25:23SPEAKER_00: And uh so we started Sin City Um Thunder Camo, which was um to honor the military.
- 25:30SPEAKER_00: Um and um so we got that team up and running, um, and we're getting ready to get into season of club ball uh you know starting you know mid-September, and so we got another two weeks of of practicing and coaching, and actually yesterday I did my first scrimmage ever and uh was coaching first base, and I had no idea what I was doing.
- 25:50SPEAKER_00: I'm asking the other coaches on the other team, and but it was it was really for the the umpires and and and for everybody to kind of get to you know kind of get ready for the season and it was a lot of fun.
- 26:00SPEAKER_00: And me personally, I I I get so much out of it because my son plays, you know, with us as well, and um he only started last October, but it's it's it's a bonding between me and my son, and and and now uh that I've gotten to know all these parents and stuff that are in the community of the baseball world out here, um, it's it's become this whole other thing.
- 26:22SPEAKER_00: And now, you know, I I was telling uh some of the mothers yesterday, um uh I I was telling them, I said, listen, the reason I love this so much is because when I'm out there coaching these kids, you know, I would treat your child the same way that I would treat my son.
- 26:38SPEAKER_00: You know what I mean?
- 26:39SPEAKER_00: And that's that and you know, unconditional love, positive affirmations, re uh, you know, just support, you know, because it's a great sport and and the basic baseball community out here is incredible.
- 26:50Sean McAllister: That's what's gonna make the kids love Coach Nick.
- 26:52SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, Coach Carter.
- 26:54SPEAKER_00: I guess you get Coach Carter.
- 26:55SPEAKER_00: But I mean, listen, um like I said, it it fills my soul, you know, and my heart.
- 27:00SPEAKER_00: Um and um, you know, every time I get out there and and I'm at a game, and you know, I it it it also like I love what we're doing with Sphere, it's great, you know, but um I still gotta take my kids to school here in Vegas.
- 27:17SPEAKER_00: I still gotta, you know, be a present father.
- 27:19SPEAKER_00: Um, you know, I and when I'm off that stage, I'm just dad, you know what I mean, and and that's what I care about the most.
- 27:25SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 27:31Dayna Roselli: First of all, we went the first weekend of the sphere show.
- 27:34Dayna Roselli: We already knew, because we do a segment in LA and we were talking with the anchors, and we're like, it's gonna be like it's like the FOMO show of the year.
- 27:39Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 27:40Dayna Roselli: I feel like everyone has come to the show.
- 27:42Dayna Roselli: How does that feel?
- 27:43Dayna Roselli: I mean, I know it feels amazing, but did you even expect it?
- 27:46SPEAKER_00: No, didn't expect it at all.
- 27:48SPEAKER_00: Um in fact, uh when I would be driving my uh kids to school every single day and I would, you know, pass the sphere, uh, and I would see them, uh, the sphere, uh, you know, we I would just say, even though I've been doing this for 33 years and I've been on some incredible stages in my life, I say, God, I wish one day I could play that.
- 28:08SPEAKER_00: Or, you know, I'm never gonna be able to play that.
- 28:11SPEAKER_00: And that's just my mindset.
- 28:12SPEAKER_00: And and so when it presented itself, um, I was just like, wow, I I'm grateful for the opportunity, uh, grateful for the community of Las Vegas, uh, you know, supporting us.
- 28:23SPEAKER_00: Um, you know, people are, I guess, all over the city wearing white and you know, walk there on the planes.
- 28:29SPEAKER_00: I'm getting like the stories, you know, people singing in the hallways and stuff like that, you know.
- 28:34SPEAKER_00: And look, if we can just bring the city together and and make people happy and be uh entertainers and do our job, um, then that's all we care about.
- 28:43SPEAKER_00: And so we're we're again very grateful for the opportunity.
- 28:46Dayna Roselli: Yeah, I I bet it hasn't even really sunk in.
- 28:48Dayna Roselli: I mean, there's sections of stores in Las Vegas that sell white clothing now.
- 28:53Dayna Roselli: I mean it's I heard that.
- 28:54Dayna Roselli: It's yeah, like Nordstrom has a white section.
- 28:57Dayna Roselli: Um I've gone to restaurants in the Venetian at I went to an early dinner at 4 p.m.
- 29:02Dayna Roselli: It's full of everyone wearing white until the show starts.
- 29:04Dayna Roselli: I mean, you're like boosting the economy.
- 29:07SPEAKER_00: Look, uh whatever we can do to help support uh this beautiful city of Las Vegas, in my opinion, like I said, we were just talking earlier, like the guy's jealous because I gotta drive 15 minutes to my house every single day, it's unsaid.
- 29:20SPEAKER_00: I'm sure that they are.
- 29:22SPEAKER_00: Uh because I've lived I live here and both my daughters were born in this city, you know, they're Vegas born, and um, you know, like I said, baseball and and you know, all the different uh things that I'm getting involved with uh philanthropically in this town, and um it's been great, you know, and I and I love it.
- 29:38SPEAKER_00: So anything that we can do to help, uh we're we're here to do it and give back because again, to be able to play that that venue is is an honor.
- 29:47SPEAKER_00: And you know, I just never want to take it for granted.
- 29:50Dayna Roselli: Was it in the plan to come back in like December and February, or was it like let's see how it goes?
- 29:55SPEAKER_00: I think it was always let's see how it goes.
- 29:58SPEAKER_00: Um we didn't we didn't know, we didn't expect anything.
- 30:01SPEAKER_00: Um, but you know, with the I guess with the overwhelming um love for the show and and everything, they were like, hey, listen, we gotta get you guys back again.
- 30:11SPEAKER_00: So we were like, okay, you know, right around Christmas, all right, sure about that?
- 30:16SPEAKER_00: I'm good, I live here, you know, the other guys and everybody was happy with it and and the decision then then they put on February as well, and um and those did really well too.
- 30:25SPEAKER_00: So again, look, you know, people are happy, they're nostalgic out here, they're they're enjoying kind of just escaping from you know all the outside world, and I think that's what Backshow Boys represents.
- 30:35SPEAKER_00: It's a really good time in like the late you know nineties turning into 2000 and it was just good music and good times.
- 30:42Dayna Roselli: So we're Vegas revealed, so are you gonna go further than what can you reveal?
- 30:45Dayna Roselli: February, possibly.
- 30:48SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I've been sworn to secrecy.
- 30:51SPEAKER_00: I've been sworn, I tell you, all I can say is um you know nothing.
- 30:59SPEAKER_00: Almost went there.
- 31:00Dayna Roselli: You're better off.
- 31:00Dayna Roselli: I'm gonna say nothing.
- 31:02Dayna Roselli: That's great though.
- 31:05Dayna Roselli: It isn't enough.
- 31:06Dayna Roselli: Oh my gosh.
- 31:07Dayna Roselli: But I did want to ask you real quick about creating the show.
- 31:10Dayna Roselli: Was that fun?
- 31:11Dayna Roselli: I mean, we're there, we're watching the stage lift up, we're watching all this stuff, and we've seen most of the shows there.
- 31:16Dayna Roselli: I mean, I do feel like this one is a little bit more, I don't know, creative visual.
- 31:22Dayna Roselli: It has more sections.
- 31:23SPEAKER_00: Well, Baz Halpin is an incredible creative uh designer and director of this show.
- 31:29SPEAKER_00: Um, and so we owe a lot to him.
- 31:32SPEAKER_00: Um Rich and Tone, our uh um choreographers and production uh production managers and and you know, our managers and and and our involvement and everything, like it all came together and it and it was I mean it was a challenge.
- 31:50SPEAKER_00: There was times when we were like, how are we gonna do this?
- 31:53SPEAKER_00: Because you're dealing with a state of art state of the art um audio, you know, and you have to have certain types of microphones that won't feed back, you know, and there's a lot of so there's an adjustment and a learning phase for a lot of our people that come from the traditional world of just touring.
- 32:09SPEAKER_00: Um, but it challenged us and we were able to rise to the occasion, and so we're really happy with that.
- 32:15Dayna Roselli: Well, we'll let you rest your voice.
- 32:17Dayna Roselli: I know you got another show tonight, your last show of this run, and we'll see you back here obviously in December.
- 32:23Dayna Roselli: For new year.
- 32:24Dayna Roselli: Yep.
- 32:25Dayna Roselli: I don't know.
- 32:26Dayna Roselli: I kind of feel like we could tell that we are going to expect more from the Backstreet Boys beyond February.
- 32:33Sean McAllister: I mean, I don't know how you can't.
- 32:35Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 32:36Dayna Roselli: He even said on stage, actually at the show, because that he was like, I am gonna do a little tour of my solo stuff, and then somebody yelled, like, when?
- 32:44Dayna Roselli: And he said, When?
- 32:45Dayna Roselli: Well, the sphere has us tied up for a while.
- 32:47Dayna Roselli: And so I was like, hmm, yeah.
- 32:50Dayna Roselli: So anyway, I mean, yeah, but like you said, why wouldn't you?
- 32:53Dayna Roselli: If they're coming, do it.
- 32:55Sean McAllister: Listen, if if they get butts in every single one of those seats, and everyone still is showing up in a white outfit and having the time of their life at that show, you just keep those shows rolling.
- 33:06Dayna Roselli: Yeah, you really do.
- 33:07Dayna Roselli: Why not, right?
- 33:08Dayna Roselli: And people are loving it and having so much fun with it.
- 33:10Dayna Roselli: It's just it's great.
- 33:11Dayna Roselli: And guys, girls, everyone, women, men.
- 33:15Dayna Roselli: It's wonderful.
- 33:16Dayna Roselli: I uh love it.
- 33:17Sean McAllister: It's great to see, and they're uh whether it's online or you know, just overhearing people who've gone, they say that was the best concert experience of my life.
- 33:30Sean McAllister: And so it's worth it.
- 33:32Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 33:32Dayna Roselli: I saw a video recently of Joey Vitone was there.
- 33:34Dayna Roselli: Yeah, shaman and singing, and a lot of boy band members from other groups have been there.
- 33:38Dayna Roselli: They have.
- 33:39Sean McAllister: I saw JC Chazet was just there the other night from InSync.
- 33:42Dayna Roselli: It's interesting, right?
- 33:44Dayna Roselli: I mean, it's gotta be hard for them to watch, thinking, man, I wish that was me.
- 33:49Dayna Roselli: But it's gotta feel so good to be the one group that's like, well, we did it.
- 33:55Dayna Roselli: Absolutely.
- 33:55Dayna Roselli: Hearing Nick talk about it, I mean, they're so humble, and I really don't think that they saw this blowing up as much as it.
- 34:01Dayna Roselli: You can tell they truly they were excited, they knew it was gonna be good, they were ready to take it on.
- 34:08Dayna Roselli: They're confident in their ability, but I don't know if they thought it would be as accepted and blown up and well received as it has been.
- 34:17Sean McAllister: But do you know what I think what people also really love about the the show too is obviously everything that the sphere brings to it, but the the kind of attitude that the guys have up on stage.
- 34:32Sean McAllister: Like I just saw a a video clip where Nick came out on stage and he didn't have his white space gloves on.
- 34:39Sean McAllister: Like all the other guys had their gloves on, and he was like kind of gesturing to people down in the audience, and he was like, I l I lost I don't have my gloves.
- 34:50Sean McAllister: What am I gonna do?
- 34:51Sean McAllister: And then you know, he pulled Howie's hand into it and was like pointing at the gloves.
- 34:55Sean McAllister: He's like, Where are they?
- 34:56SPEAKER_04: Uh-huh.
- 34:56Sean McAllister: And you know, they're just having so much fun, being lighthearted when there are those moments, like when you don't have the gloves or whatever, like they they just have a good time with it.
- 35:09Dayna Roselli: Yeah, have a good time, right?
- 35:10Sean McAllister: And that's what makes those live performances so uh unique for each audience, is that there are going to be different things in each show that only that audience will get.
- 35:21Dayna Roselli: Yeah, for sure.
- 35:22Dayna Roselli: I mean, that's the thing.
- 35:24Dayna Roselli: You can come, especially if you're a huge fan, you can come more than once.
- 35:27Sean McAllister: Yes.
- 35:28Dayna Roselli: You know, like you're saying.
- 35:29Dayna Roselli: And I know people will be back again and again.
- 35:31Dayna Roselli: Whenever you say we'll be back, it's like Backstreets back.
- 35:34Dayna Roselli: You know, it's just it's funny because that's a play on words.
- 35:38Dayna Roselli: Um, anyway, we will put that interview on our YouTube.
- 35:41Dayna Roselli: We're gonna break it up in different parts, we're gonna add some video and all that kind of thing.
- 35:44Dayna Roselli: So you'll wanna go over there.
- 35:46Dayna Roselli: We are uh what are we on YouTube?
- 35:48Dayna Roselli: At Vegas Revealed.
- 35:49Sean McAllister: Vegas Reveal.
- 35:50Dayna Roselli: Yeah, just at Vegas Real and no Don't in between.
- 35:53Dayna Roselli: Subscribe too while you're there, by the way.
- 35:55Sean McAllister: And please, if um you're watching and you see a little hype button down below, like kind of by the comments section, just hit that little hype button.
- 36:04Sean McAllister: Give us points.
- 36:04Sean McAllister: It helps like get us in front of new eyes, and we appreciate that.
- 36:10Dayna Roselli: We really do.
- 36:10Dayna Roselli: We discovered it like this week, and I didn't I don't know if it's brand new, but I was watching our show from another account, like from my personal one, and it was like hype this video.
- 36:19Dayna Roselli: And I was like, All right.
- 36:21Sean McAllister: All right, why not?
- 36:23Sean McAllister: Hype it up.
- 36:24Sean McAllister: We need some we absolutely love uh all of you who listen, and we would appreciate it if you could be our hype people too.
- 36:32Dayna Roselli: Yes, hype us up.
- 36:34Dayna Roselli: Uh well, how far are we in here?
- 36:36Dayna Roselli: Well, I guess we had the interview.
- 36:37Dayna Roselli: So we got a few more uh more topics.
- 36:39Dayna Roselli: Let's get right to uh Ashley Simpson, because it's kind of along the lines of you know, nostalgia, a performer from the what she said late, she did early 2000s.
- 36:48Sean McAllister: 2000s.
- 36:49Dayna Roselli: Yeah, yeah.
- 36:50Dayna Roselli: She has um has not performed a full-length show since 2008.
- 36:55Dayna Roselli: Ashley Simpson announced she's performing at Voltaire at the Venetian, and she sold out Labor Day weekend like immediately.
- 37:02Dayna Roselli: They had to add more shows in September.
- 37:05Dayna Roselli: Now, I'm gonna be honest, I was a little surprised.
- 37:07Dayna Roselli: I thought, wow, good for her.
- 37:10Dayna Roselli: Um, but yeah, Ashley Simpson has a lot of hits.
- 37:14Dayna Roselli: When I was looking through, I was like, oh yeah, this one, that one, this.
- 37:16Dayna Roselli: And so you forget because time has slipped away.
- 37:20Dayna Roselli: We haven't heard too much from her musically since 2008.
- 37:24Dayna Roselli: So good for her.
- 37:26Dayna Roselli: And um, I'm curious.
- 37:27Dayna Roselli: Text us if you go to the show, let us know how it is.
- 37:30Dayna Roselli: We would love to know, and maybe we can get there too sometime this September.
- 37:33Sean McAllister: Yeah, and I mean, good for her.
- 37:36Sean McAllister: Yeah, good for Ashley coming back.
- 37:37Sean McAllister: Voltaire, as we've mentioned many times, is uh a great venue too.
- 37:42Sean McAllister: So excited for her that um she's got that following that's gonna fill up that theater.
- 37:47Dayna Roselli: And I did want to mention if you look on the site, um, you can get tickets.
- 37:52Dayna Roselli: I don't know you know, you'll have to go check, but when we looked recently, there is a standing room ticket available for Labor Day weekend.
- 38:01Dayna Roselli: So it's just you don't get a seat.
- 38:03Dayna Roselli: And they have a lot of booths and seats at all, but they have this bar in the back, and I guess they have this area where you can just stand.
- 38:10Dayna Roselli: So FYI, it is sold out, but you can get a standing room ticket, possibly if you go to the Voltaire website.
- 38:16Sean McAllister: And that's still not a bad view because it's not a a huge room.
- 38:21Sean McAllister: I saw the beginning of the Jason Gerulo concert from back there.
- 38:24Sean McAllister: I was like, You were standing at the bar.
- 38:26Dayna Roselli: I knew it.
- 38:28Sean McAllister: And I was like, oh wow, this is actually a really good vantage point to watch from.
- 38:32Dayna Roselli: I mean, if you want to see someone, and you're close to the bar.
- 38:35Dayna Roselli: Yeah.

- 38:37Dayna Roselli: Hey, Jessica Simpson's also doing uh one show at Planet Hollywood uh in November.
- 38:42Dayna Roselli: So FYI.
- 38:43Dayna Roselli: I don't know you know if that does well, maybe she'll add more, but she's doing a one-off at Planet Hollywood here in Las Vegas, Jessica Simpson.
- 38:50Dayna Roselli: So Ashley Simpson and Jessica Simpson both coming to Las Vegas.
- 38:54Sean McAllister: All right.

- 39:00Sean McAllister: Fountain Blue Las Vegas has rolled out a locals only program that's going on now through September 30th.
- 39:09Dayna Roselli: And we know we have a lot of Las Vegas listeners and listeners here in Nevada, as long as you have the Nevada ID.
- 39:16Dayna Roselli: So listen up.
- 39:18SPEAKER_02: We want to make sure we take care of the locals.
- 39:20SPEAKER_02: Maybe they don't have the opportunity to go out of town, but they can come here and have a world-class experience, whether it be on a Monday or on the weekend.
- 39:28SPEAKER_02: You might have come last year and think you know Fountain Blue, but if you come back, it is a completely different property.

- 42:07Sean McAllister: All right, let's get to tips.
- 42:12Dayna Roselli: I feel like we've had a whole bunch of tips in the show.
- 42:14Dayna Roselli: We we've started saying, like, should we change the tip segment?
- 42:18Sean McAllister: Because the whole show is a tip.
- 42:21Dayna Roselli: We've been doing tips for five years.
- 42:24Sean McAllister: We have.
- 42:24Dayna Roselli: We started reading a Wikipedia, okay.
- 42:26Dayna Roselli: This is what we're gonna need people to chime in about this.
- 42:28Dayna Roselli: We started reading a Wikipedia page the other day of a hotel resort, and we there are so many interesting nuggets.
- 42:35Dayna Roselli: So, should we change tips to like the Wikipedia read of the week and read all the interesting nuggets of different properties and and like things that have come and gone from different properties, the histories of different uh properties, the lesser known stories of how and why things came to be or did not be.
- 42:56Dayna Roselli: Yeah, or because when we were reading this certain Wikipedia, you and I had stories to go along with it.
- 43:01Dayna Roselli: So I feel like we could really contribute.
- 43:03Dayna Roselli: Like, oh, I remember that, or oh yeah, so-and-so told me that this is the reason, you know.
- 43:07Dayna Roselli: So I don't know, should we should we change tips?
- 43:09Dayna Roselli: Because we do tips in the podcast all through, and to the we can come up with a fun name.
- 43:14Dayna Roselli: Or maybe you help us come up with a name.
- 43:16Dayna Roselli: The Wikipedia read.
- 43:17Dayna Roselli: So anyway, text us, link is in our show notes.
- 43:20Dayna Roselli: But this week's tip is uh at Resorts World, actually.
- 43:24Dayna Roselli: I just wanted to mention there's listen, there's Labor Day deals up and down the strip.
- 43:28Dayna Roselli: So if you're coming into town, there's not a lack.
- 43:32Dayna Roselli: Um, but I did think this was cool because I know I know people love like cheap food.
- 43:36Dayna Roselli: Um, but Blood Brothers at famous Foods Street Eats.
- 43:40Dayna Roselli: That's that kind of street market area.
- 43:43Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 43:43Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 43:44Dayna Roselli: Food hall.
- 43:45Sean McAllister: It's a fancy food court.
- 43:46Dayna Roselli: It is.
- 43:47Dayna Roselli: Um, but it's at Resorts World, and they are doing a special over there, a special um barbecue activation on August 30th.
- 43:55Dayna Roselli: So it's this weekend for Labor Day, and August 31st from two to four.
- 43:59Dayna Roselli: So what do you get?
- 44:00Dayna Roselli: Sean.
- 44:00Sean McAllister: Well, as part of this, they are doing$2 wings,$5 ribs,$10 brisket,$5 draft Bud Light and Mick Ultra, and$25 buckets of skimmers.
- 44:15Dayna Roselli: And we have no idea what skimmers are, but sounds like a deal.
- 44:18Sean McAllister: Well, I was just looking at skimmers.
- 44:20Dayna Roselli: Because it says bucket.
- 44:21Sean McAllister: Right.
- 44:22Dayna Roselli: I'm like a bucket of anything for$25 is a good deal.
- 44:25Sean McAllister: Listen, whatever's in that bucket for$25, you're gonna be happy that you got it.
- 44:29Sean McAllister: A bucket full.
- 44:31Dayna Roselli: I love it.
- 44:32Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 44:33Dayna Roselli: So anyway, two days, Saturday, Sunday, uh Blood Brothers barbecue activation over there at Famous Food Street Eats.
- 44:41Dayna Roselli: Tons of deals.
- 44:42Dayna Roselli: Who doesn't love a$2 wing?
- 44:44Dayna Roselli: Uh that's over at Resorts World.
- 44:46Dayna Roselli: Um, we don't really have another tip for you, but we kind of do.
- 44:48Dayna Roselli: Here's a tip Wizard of Oz is opening its sphere.
- 44:51Dayna Roselli: We will be there.
- 44:52Dayna Roselli: You'll want to watch our YouTube page.
- 44:53Dayna Roselli: We're gonna do a full show.
- 44:55Dayna Roselli: We're gonna be on the yellow carpet.
- 44:57Sean McAllister: Yellow carpet.
- 44:58Dayna Roselli: Gotta have a color and yellow brick road.
- 45:00Dayna Roselli: Um, but is it Judy Garland's daughter's scheduled to be on the carpet?
- 45:04Dayna Roselli: So that'll be great.
- 45:04Sean McAllister: Uh Lorna Left.
- 45:06Sean McAllister: Yeah, Judy's daughter.
- 45:07Sean McAllister: I she's uh done some interviews leading up to the opening.
- 45:11Sean McAllister: So it'll be good to talk to her, especially because there's so many people who are either all for this uh new sphere experience, or they're the purists who are like, Oh, don't touch the original.
- 45:25Sean McAllister: So I'm interested.
- 45:27Sean McAllister: I think Lorna is probably gonna be excited about it.
- 45:29Sean McAllister: I do too.
- 45:30Sean McAllister: Because it brings new life to a movie that's like almost a hundred years old.
- 45:34Dayna Roselli: How emotional is it gonna be for her to see in uh at the sphere?
- 45:40Dayna Roselli: Because even we were emotional when it popped up on the screen.
- 45:43Dayna Roselli: I am so excited to see this.
- 45:45Dayna Roselli: It's gonna be a long day.
- 45:45Dayna Roselli: We're working the yellow carpet, we're going to the pre-party, and we're going to the premiere.
- 45:50Dayna Roselli: It's going to be a fun day.
- 45:52Dayna Roselli: Um, we'll probably have to take off Friday morning because we need to recover.
- 45:55Sean McAllister: We definitely need to take off Friday morning.
- 45:58Dayna Roselli: But there's a whole slew of celebrities uh coming out.
- 46:00Dayna Roselli: A lot of people from The Sopranos, the TV show The Sopranos.
- 46:04Dayna Roselli: They might be friends with James Dolan or something.
- 46:06Dayna Roselli: I don't know.
- 46:06Dayna Roselli: But Edie Falco, I'm kind of excited.
- 46:08Sean McAllister: I know it is.
- 46:09Sean McAllister: It's gonna be fun.
- 46:10Dayna Roselli: So um, and a lot of folks from Wicked on Broadway, right?
- 46:13Dayna Roselli: Or Broadway or the touring or the movie or from uh the movie.
- 46:18Sean McAllister: Yeah, the movie.
- 46:18Sean McAllister: Yeah, there's a couple cast members from Wicked the Movie, which the next installment of that comes out Thanksgiving of this year.
- 46:26Sean McAllister: Okay.
- 46:26Sean McAllister: Uh for good is the second one of that.
- 46:29Sean McAllister: So it all ties in nicely.
- 46:31Sean McAllister: Lots of stories of Oz all the way around, stage, screen, sphere, all over the place.
- 46:39Dayna Roselli: Love it.
