- 0:17Speaker 1: Now welcome in a jagxam. I'm kind.
- 0:18Speaker 2: Nannie Stevens, Brian Sexton and John Oger are with me
- 0:21Speaker 2: on this Wednesday. It's week eleven of the NFL season.
- 0:24Speaker 2: Comes talk Jaguars. Things haven't gone the way we expected
- 0:27Speaker 2: this season, but we are remaining hopeful here on jag Zam.
- 0:30Speaker 1: So start out with big.
- 0:31Speaker 2: Thing number one. We are remaining hopeful, Brian, when we
- 0:34Speaker 2: look at the scene, there are things that are good
- 0:36Speaker 2: about this. We're staying positive in this room for now.
- 0:38Speaker 1: I demand it. What's something you're hopeful about for this sea?
- 0:41Speaker 3: Well?
- 0:41Speaker 4: Was there's seven games left?
- 0:43Speaker 1: Right?
- 0:43Speaker 5: I mean, I get what has happened the last three weeks,
- 0:46Speaker 5: and I understand what's in front of them with the.
- 0:48Speaker 4: Lions this week.
- 0:49Speaker 5: But if I'm hopeful about anything, it's that they get
- 0:51Speaker 5: Trevor Lawrence back after Thanksgiving. Where there are some winnable
- 0:55Speaker 5: games for this football team. They've get the Colts, They've
- 0:58Speaker 5: got two games against the Titans, Yets. You know there's
- 1:01Speaker 5: a chance for them to finish this season. It won't
- 1:06Speaker 5: it won't solve the problems, but it will give them
- 1:09Speaker 5: a chance to play at a higher level and perhaps
- 1:11Speaker 5: give us something to enjoy before this season is done.
- 1:16Speaker 3: Well, this is right up my alley because I am
- 1:19Speaker 3: nothing if not a cock eyed optimist. Look, and Brian's right,
- 1:26Speaker 3: there is hope. I think the real thing, all kidding aside,
- 1:30Speaker 3: is that this team for three weeks has played very
- 1:34Speaker 3: well or you know, very competitively against playoff teams from
- 1:39Speaker 3: the NFC. You know, all the stuff about a lot
- 1:43Speaker 3: of quit that storyline in London hasn't even come close
- 1:47Speaker 3: to being a storyline the last couple of weeks. This
- 1:48Speaker 3: team has not given up on it. Josh Allen talked Monday,
- 1:52Speaker 3: you know about still believing, and I think they do,
- 1:56Speaker 3: so they have hope. I think there's a lot of
- 1:59Speaker 3: hope for some wins, for some positive stuff going on.
- 2:02Speaker 3: There's just not hope for the playoffs because it would
- 2:05Speaker 3: take I don't know what, you call it a miracle.
- 2:07Speaker 3: You're the religious guy.
- 2:08Speaker 4: Ryan, Yeah, No, I am a novena Christ.
- 2:11Speaker 5: We would say in the catholicjurch, it would take a
- 2:12Speaker 5: novena to get them there, and I'm willing to say one,
- 2:15Speaker 5: but I don't know that it's waste. Yeah, I'm not
- 2:18Speaker 5: going to There's something else to be hopeful for. And
- 2:21Speaker 5: that's that there's some young talent on this team. Now
- 2:22Speaker 5: there's clearly not enough guy but when you look at
- 2:25Speaker 5: a guy like Trayvon Walker, you see what's possible with
- 2:29Speaker 5: Brenton Strange and Tank Big Spy and Brian Thomas Junior.
- 2:32Speaker 5: I mean there's you want them over these final seven
- 2:36Speaker 5: games to improve, to get better, and that requires a
- 2:40Speaker 5: lot of effort.
- 2:41Speaker 4: And as John just said, they're not quitting.
- 2:43Speaker 2: I think that's important to mention too, because this is
- 2:45Speaker 2: the point where drafting and developing could definitely help, especially
- 2:48Speaker 2: if you're focused a little bit more on getting that
- 2:50Speaker 2: young talent out there. No matter what, our second big
- 2:52Speaker 2: thing today is going to be changes.
- 2:54Speaker 1: Now going forward.
- 2:54Speaker 2: That doesn't mean that they have to do everything the
- 2:56Speaker 2: same way they've been doing. John, if we're looking at changes,
- 2:59Speaker 2: whether it's getting some more reps for the younger guys,
- 3:01Speaker 2: doing things a little bit differently on offense, because what
- 3:04Speaker 2: could it hurt at this point, what do you hopeful
- 3:05Speaker 2: will see change going forward?
- 3:07Speaker 3: Well, I think you're at the point of a season
- 3:09Speaker 3: where the change happens organically. You don't have to force
- 3:14Speaker 3: it because you've got injuries that sort of force you
- 3:16Speaker 3: in certain directions. I don't know what it's gona happen
- 3:20Speaker 3: with Trevor this week. So if it's mac Jones again,
- 3:23Speaker 3: I think you have to look at what was done
- 3:25Speaker 3: last week, figure out what he can do well how much,
- 3:31Speaker 3: I don't know if you have to limit things, but
- 3:33Speaker 3: you have to figure out what works in that offense
- 3:35Speaker 3: and change in that direction. As far as major personnel change, Brian,
- 3:39Speaker 3: this is always the point. See we've been through some
- 3:41Speaker 3: of these. It's always the point of the season where people say, well,
- 3:44Speaker 3: just play all the young guys play. You know, it's
- 3:46Speaker 3: hard just to do that because if you play guys
- 3:51Speaker 3: who you know are not ready to do that, it
- 3:53Speaker 3: can bring everything else down. So you have to balance
- 3:56Speaker 3: playing all the young guys with still being able to
- 3:59Speaker 3: function as a team.
- 4:00Speaker 5: Well, if you say you're just gonna play all the
- 4:02Speaker 5: young guys, you're basically saying it doesn't matter whether we
- 4:05Speaker 5: win or not. You just you can't play that way.
- 4:07Speaker 5: It talk about no hope. You've got to be able
- 4:10Speaker 5: to stay within a framework. I wouldn't give you the obvious.
- 4:14Speaker 5: I would like to see them figure out a way
- 4:16Speaker 5: to just force feed the ball to number seven. I
- 4:19Speaker 5: mean they didn't stop throwing the ball to Justin Jefferson
- 4:24Speaker 5: on Sunday. They targeted him nine different times, and everyone has.
- 4:29Speaker 4: Their focus on where number eighteen is.
- 4:31Speaker 5: When they play the Minnesota Vikings, I'd like to see
- 4:33Speaker 5: them adjust the offense. I mean, I understand why they
- 4:36Speaker 5: didn't do it early, but now we're at the point
- 4:38Speaker 5: he is so explosive and you want him to develop.
- 4:41Speaker 5: I would like to see them kind of force speed
- 4:44Speaker 5: the ball, figure out a way to get it to him.
- 4:47Speaker 5: The argument could be, well, he wasn't fully healthy. Okay,
- 4:49Speaker 5: well you've got the bye week coming up soon, you're
- 4:51Speaker 5: gonna have a stretch of six games to finish the season.
- 4:53Speaker 4: Figure out a way to feature that guy.
- 4:55Speaker 3: Or on the subject there. I think the reason they
- 4:57Speaker 3: don't is you saw what happen on Sunday when the
- 5:01Speaker 3: Vikings were force feeding. Three of Sam Darnold's picks were
- 5:04Speaker 3: in Justin Jefferson's direction. When you got a young quarter
- 5:07Speaker 3: or a quarterback who you're not sure about which Mac
- 5:10Speaker 3: Jones the other day played like that, there's a little
- 5:13Speaker 3: bit of a hesitancy to force that because all of
- 5:16Speaker 3: a sudden you're asking for picks, but you gotta get him.
- 5:19Speaker 5: I mean, listen, I get it. And I'm not saying
- 5:20Speaker 5: everything has to be a deep shot. I mean there
- 5:22Speaker 5: are other shorter, different routes. There's different ways, and I'm
- 5:27Speaker 5: not trying to tell Doug and Press something they already know.
- 5:30Speaker 5: But you asked about change. I would just like to
- 5:32Speaker 5: see him become that focal point. And there's got to
- 5:34Speaker 5: be way because KD going forward, he's gonna get that attention.
- 5:39Speaker 5: You're going to have to work to get him the ball.
- 5:41Speaker 5: It's going to take some effort strategically to get in
- 5:45Speaker 5: the ball, So why not work on that now?
- 5:47Speaker 2: And he's going to have to know how to play
- 5:48Speaker 2: through it as well. So hopefully they find a way
- 5:50Speaker 2: to mix him in against Detroit, no matter who the
- 5:52Speaker 2: quarterback is.
- 5:53Speaker 1: So that comes to our final big thing, which.
- 5:55Speaker 2: Is be where the Lions one of the best teams
- 5:57Speaker 2: in football right now looking like Super Bowl contenders.
- 6:00Speaker 1: They had their off game this.
- 6:02Speaker 2: Week against the Texans, So what can the Daguars do
- 6:06Speaker 2: to try to go.
- 6:06Speaker 1: In there and get things done?
- 6:07Speaker 5: On Sunday, Brian Wells he read they're eight and one
- 6:11Speaker 5: for the first time since nineteen fifty four, which might
- 6:13Speaker 5: surprise people was before John and.
- 6:15Speaker 4: I were born.
- 6:15Speaker 5: That's seventy years ago. Seventy years they have won seven
- 6:20Speaker 5: in a row. And I watched a game that they
- 6:22Speaker 5: played against the Cardinals earlier this year, and I was
- 6:25Speaker 5: just so impressed with the way that their offensive line
- 6:28Speaker 5: was down the field blocking in the run game. There
- 6:31Speaker 5: were two or three times where the runner was caught up.
- 6:33Speaker 5: Montgomery and big offensive Linemanges came in and shoved them
- 6:36Speaker 5: down the field. They play a certain way. They don't
- 6:39Speaker 5: just want to beat you. They want to make a
- 6:40Speaker 5: statement every single Sunday. They want you to know that
- 6:43Speaker 5: you were leaving with a loss and their complete and
- 6:46Speaker 5: utter lack of respect. Right They want you to leave
- 6:50Speaker 5: feeling as if they took everything from you.
- 6:53Speaker 4: I kind of like that mentality.
- 6:55Speaker 5: But you better be ready because they play hard every
- 6:58Speaker 5: single play.
- 7:00Speaker 3: The Chiefs are nine to zero and Super Bowl champs,
- 7:02Speaker 3: so they deserve to be like on top until somebody
- 7:05Speaker 3: beats them. But if you're asking what the best team
- 7:09Speaker 3: in the NFL looks like right now, the best team
- 7:12Speaker 3: in the NFL is a Detroit Lions. And because of
- 7:15Speaker 3: the rains, because the reasons Brian talked about watching the
- 7:18Speaker 3: game Sunday night, it struck you that even when they
- 7:21Speaker 3: were down sixteen, even when going through five interceptions, it
- 7:24Speaker 3: always sort of felt like they were playing downhill. They're
- 7:27Speaker 3: really good, really physical, They know how they want to play. Look, Brian,
- 7:33Speaker 3: I respect your whole hope thing this week, but this
- 7:37Speaker 3: is and this is as tough a lift as the
- 7:41Speaker 3: Jaguars will have this season. I mean, I sure there's hope,
- 7:45Speaker 3: but this is a really, really tough matchup.
- 7:47Speaker 4: Without a doubt.
- 7:47Speaker 5: And I loved Jared Goff's comment after the game. He
- 7:50Speaker 5: was asked about throwing five interceptions and not letting it
- 7:53Speaker 5: get to him because five interceptions, He goes, I've been
- 7:56Speaker 5: to the bottom before he was discarded by the team
- 7:58Speaker 5: that drafted him, even after he took the Rams to
- 8:01Speaker 5: the Super Bowl, or he was a key component of
- 8:04Speaker 5: getting the Rams to the super Bowl that year. He says,
- 8:06Speaker 5: I'm not gonna let this bother me. That can't stop me.
- 8:09Speaker 5: I've been through worse.
- 8:10Speaker 4: Listen.
- 8:11Speaker 5: That resilient mentality that no matter what mentality, man, That's
- 8:16Speaker 5: why I think that they're capable of beating the Chiefs
- 8:18Speaker 5: and knocking them off because they've got it all right, now.
- 8:21Speaker 5: They are playing at a high level. They're playing physical,
- 8:24Speaker 5: they can send the ball down the field. I mean,
- 8:26Speaker 5: even without Aiden Hutchinson. Their defense is playing well and
- 8:29Speaker 5: they've got that sort of an attitude from their quarterback,
- 8:31Speaker 5: like five interceptions, no problem.
- 8:32Speaker 2: Hold on, five interceptions, good to bounce back from. All Right,
- 8:36Speaker 2: we'll talk more about the lines a little bit about
- 8:38Speaker 2: what the Jags are going to do this week coming
- 8:39Speaker 2: up after the break. Tag Vam brought to me by
- 8:50Speaker 2: Fields Auto Group, Jack Ndle's premiere Lundony Auto Group.
- 8:53Speaker 1: You can head over to Fields Auto dot com to
- 8:55Speaker 1: check it out.
- 8:57Speaker 2: This ottle.
- 8:58Speaker 1: That's this welcome back in to jag Zam. We're gonna
- 9:06Speaker 1: do a little this or that today.
- 9:07Speaker 2: We are operating on Wednesday here with not a full
- 9:10Speaker 2: amount of information about the week, exactly who we're going
- 9:13Speaker 2: to see at quarterbacks, so we're going to talk that
- 9:14Speaker 2: out a little bit. Trevor Lawrence stealing with a injury
- 9:17Speaker 2: to his non throwing shoulder. He did not play against
- 9:20Speaker 2: the Vikings last week, and Doug Peterson wasn't quite obvious
- 9:23Speaker 2: with whether he was going to play this week or not,
- 9:25Speaker 2: saying they'll see as the week goes along. So if
- 9:27Speaker 2: it's up to you, guys, do you want to see
- 9:29Speaker 2: Trevor this week? Will we see Trevor after the bye?
- 9:31Speaker 2: When do you think we will see Trevor back?
- 9:33Speaker 5: I think the most logical is that we would see
- 9:36Speaker 5: him in a couple of weeks. I mean, if you
- 9:38Speaker 5: think about it, if you get into the Texans game,
- 9:39Speaker 5: he's had a month right to get back, and that
- 9:43Speaker 5: probably makes sense with the sprain day seed joint. You know,
- 9:47Speaker 5: if it's sore and he takes hit after hit after hit,
- 9:49Speaker 5: which quarterbacks do you'd like to spare him that? My
- 9:53Speaker 5: answer is I want to see him back on the
- 9:55Speaker 5: field of the minute he can be right. If that's
- 9:57Speaker 5: Sunday in Detroit, then I want to see him.
- 10:00Speaker 3: I'd be surprised if he plays Sunday because usually how
- 10:04Speaker 3: these injuries work out is if you've got to buy,
- 10:06Speaker 3: just like Brian said, can get him a couple of weeks. Look,
- 10:10Speaker 3: I think I want to see Trevor back out there.
- 10:16Speaker 3: I don't know that it's a slam dunk to see
- 10:18Speaker 3: him back out there if you get mathematically limited for
- 10:21Speaker 3: the playoffs, because if an ac joint, this whole surgery thing,
- 10:26Speaker 3: I have.
- 10:26Speaker 4: No idea surgery.
- 10:27Speaker 3: We're not doctors, but if surgery winds up being necessary,
- 10:31Speaker 3: then I think you want to have it done as
- 10:34Speaker 3: soon as possible for the next off season. So I
- 10:37Speaker 3: don't know any facts about that, but I think that
- 10:40Speaker 3: will have to be a discussion point in the conversation
- 10:44Speaker 3: about Trevor Lawrence and one thing, Brian, I've gotten some
- 10:47Speaker 3: emails questioning Trevor's toughness about this, which might be the
- 10:51Speaker 3: most absurd line of thinking I've ever heard, and I've
- 10:55Speaker 3: heard some certain stuff.
- 10:57Speaker 4: Will you sit next to me?
- 10:58Speaker 3: He's no, You're good. But five times, just to clarify,
- 11:03Speaker 3: five times in the last two years, this kid has
- 11:06Speaker 3: played through stuff where there are probably people around him
- 11:11Speaker 3: saying don't get out there. So toughness and leadership for
- 11:15Speaker 3: this guy, whatever he is or isn't, he's tough.
- 11:17Speaker 4: Well, let me give your flipside also of why you
- 11:19Speaker 4: don't want to rush him back.
- 11:21Speaker 5: You don't want him to re injure it and then
- 11:24Speaker 5: need surgery, right because the last thing you want is
- 11:27Speaker 5: him delayed in returning for your off season program.
- 11:30Speaker 4: We're already talking about that. But you don't want surgery.
- 11:33Speaker 5: To be something that causes him to not be able
- 11:36Speaker 5: to fully work through the off season, so you just
- 11:40Speaker 5: it's going to be a matter of how they manage that.
- 11:42Speaker 3: And that doesn't mean you shut him down if healthy.
- 11:45Speaker 3: If he's healthy, plays play because it's the NFL, and
- 11:48Speaker 3: you do that. But there is such a thing as
- 11:52Speaker 3: being realistic with risk and injury. So it's something that
- 11:56Speaker 3: I think it has to be a discussion point as
- 11:57Speaker 3: they go.
- 11:58Speaker 2: Afford, let's look at it to the defensive side of
- 12:01Speaker 2: the football. We saw them play one of their better
- 12:02Speaker 2: games last week, and also we talk a lot about
- 12:05Speaker 2: the shift change that they've been doing some players there
- 12:07Speaker 2: has been John, as you mentioned, things go along each
- 12:10Speaker 2: start changing things a little bit. We've been seeing them
- 12:12Speaker 2: play a lot more zone and they originally wanted to
- 12:14Speaker 2: play a lot of man and now we're seeing some
- 12:16Speaker 2: of the playtimes going up play ALUK and playing one
- 12:18Speaker 2: hundred percent of the snaps. We haven't seen that out
- 12:20Speaker 2: of barely any of the linebackers all season long, which
- 12:22Speaker 2: has been unusual. So when you're correlating, maybe saying, hey,
- 12:26Speaker 2: that was one of our better efforts and we had
- 12:28Speaker 2: some of our better players on the field most of
- 12:29Speaker 2: the time.
- 12:30Speaker 1: Is that something you should.
- 12:31Speaker 3: Continue look rotate the defensive line because you have to.
- 12:37Speaker 3: To a point, everybody back seven. I've always thought you
- 12:42Speaker 3: play them if they're your best players. But and to
- 12:46Speaker 3: their credit, they seem to do that early in the
- 12:49Speaker 3: season trying to stay healthy and available. Maybe now that
- 12:53Speaker 3: it's mid season you get away from that and just
- 12:56Speaker 3: play your guys.
- 12:58Speaker 5: The Jaguars defense the last three games has been on
- 13:02Speaker 5: the field in an average of thirty eight minutes and
- 13:05Speaker 5: has given up an average of four hundred and twenty
- 13:07Speaker 5: five yards. So whatever they've been doing hasn't been good enough.
- 13:12Speaker 5: If that means more guys play more snaps, then so
- 13:15Speaker 5: be it. I wouldn't think anything is above change. And
- 13:19Speaker 5: you know, you understand that Doug Peterson when he hires
- 13:21Speaker 5: Ryan Nielsen, he hires him for a reason and allows him.
- 13:24Speaker 5: And Doug has said, you know, he's not a defensive guy.
- 13:26Speaker 5: He lets Ryan do what Ryan does. But they obviously
- 13:29Speaker 5: don't have the players to do what he wants to do.
- 13:32Speaker 5: And isn't it an old axiom You don't do what
- 13:34Speaker 5: the coach wants to do. You do what your players
- 13:36Speaker 5: dictate you can do, and they can't run Ryan's scheme
- 13:40Speaker 5: or it just doesn't work. Whichever one of those is
- 13:43Speaker 5: the answer.
- 13:44Speaker 2: Is there any defensive players that you want to see
- 13:46Speaker 2: more of that you haven't seen enough of yet?
- 13:49Speaker 1: Or you let to see their time?
- 13:50Speaker 4: Go up there?
- 13:50Speaker 5: Listen more Ventra Miller please, I mean the more I
- 13:53Speaker 5: see fifty one. Every time he hits someone, someone goes.
- 13:56Speaker 4: Backwards or sideways. More of him, please, YEA.
- 14:00Speaker 3: Dewey's the obvious one in the backfield. You haven't seen
- 14:02Speaker 3: him because he've been hurt, you know, awareness and just
- 14:07Speaker 3: football stuff. We just talked about two guys like that,
- 14:10Speaker 3: Ventreel Miller and Dewey seen to make plays, and so
- 14:15Speaker 3: I think seeing those but I'm kind of with Brian.
- 14:18Speaker 3: I don't know that the and they haven't been hiding greatness.
- 14:24Speaker 3: Yeah right, so although I know they're gonna all of
- 14:26Speaker 3: a sudden come off the bench.
- 14:28Speaker 5: There is one guy, though, Jordan Jefferson, the defensive tackle,
- 14:31Speaker 5: the fourth round pick.
- 14:32Speaker 4: Every time I see him, I see him do something.
- 14:35Speaker 5: Yeah, and you're starting to see some physicality from him.
- 14:39Speaker 4: I've been impressed with him.
- 14:40Speaker 3: He probably fits that category we just talked about.
- 14:42Speaker 5: Yeah, I think that's guys who play yeah, right, And
- 14:45Speaker 5: So along those lines, I'd like to see Mason Smith
- 14:47Speaker 5: on the field again before the season is done. There's
- 14:49Speaker 5: plenty of time, and there's seven games over the next
- 14:51Speaker 5: eight weeks. Let's see number ninety four back on the
- 14:54Speaker 5: field and see if we can can spot the traits
- 14:57Speaker 5: that made him a second round pick. And a guy
- 14:59Speaker 5: that we all talked about during training camp is being,
- 15:02Speaker 5: you know, a promising, hopeful guy for the future.
- 15:06Speaker 3: And maybe you know, uh, I don't know if they'll
- 15:09Speaker 3: do this. Maybe try Jerry on the outside. Yeah, you know,
- 15:12Speaker 3: not if you're gonna try guys, because he's got Jerry Jones.
- 15:16Speaker 3: He has some elite traits, some really good traits. Uh,
- 15:21Speaker 3: maybe you get a look at what he can do
- 15:23Speaker 3: on the outside. Although he's a really good knuckle.
- 15:24Speaker 4: You'll just go back to the whole thing for a minute.
- 15:26Speaker 5: We've talked about a lot of young players Ventrel Miller
- 15:28Speaker 5: and Jefferson and Smith and Jerry and Jones, and we
- 15:31Speaker 5: haven't to mention the guys on the offensive side of
- 15:33Speaker 5: the ball. There are some good young players that you
- 15:36Speaker 5: want to see. You want to see their role increase.
- 15:39Speaker 5: That may not be more snaps John, that may just
- 15:41Speaker 5: mean you do different.
- 15:41Speaker 4: Things with them.
- 15:42Speaker 2: Absolutely lots of stuff to keep an eye on. Stay
- 15:44Speaker 2: with us here on jack Zam. We're gonna go around
- 15:46Speaker 2: the AFC South and when we come back. For eleven years,
- 15:54Speaker 2: dream Finders Homes have been proud to call themselves the
- 15:56Speaker 2: official home builder of the Jacksonville Jaguars. Has at dreamfinders
- 15:58Speaker 2: Holmes dot com for all of the vale inventory and
- 16:01Speaker 2: Go Jags.
- 16:06Speaker 1: So welcome you back into Jagsam. Today.
- 16:07Speaker 2: We're going to talk a little bit about the ANFC
- 16:09Speaker 2: South and what's going on around and some of the
- 16:11Speaker 2: future opponents from Jaguars as well.
- 16:13Speaker 1: We haven't played the Titan yet this year. They're struggling
- 16:15Speaker 1: as well. At this point.
- 16:17Speaker 2: They got Will Levis back at quarterback, but didn't help
- 16:19Speaker 2: them as they felt. We've seen some quarterback issues with
- 16:23Speaker 2: the Titans this year as they had to go with
- 16:25Speaker 2: back up Mason Rudolph for a while. Then he didn't
- 16:27Speaker 2: know if Will Eves was going to come back in.
- 16:29Speaker 2: We've already seen how the Colts have been dealing with
- 16:30Speaker 2: Anthony Richardson. Interesting to see what the Titans will end
- 16:34Speaker 2: up eventually dealing with Will Loves.
- 16:36Speaker 5: I think you can bank on the Titans selecting a
- 16:39Speaker 5: quarterback at the top of the draft if there's one
- 16:41Speaker 5: they like, maybe Carson Beck from Mandarin High, maybe should
- 16:45Speaker 5: or Sanders if that's the kind of system.
- 16:46Speaker 4: That Brian Callahan wants to run.
- 16:50Speaker 5: I don't know, but I've seen both of these guys
- 16:52Speaker 5: now and neither one of them appears to be the
- 16:54Speaker 5: answer to me.
- 16:55Speaker 3: Yeah, Unfortunately, this feels like there's the time right when
- 16:58Speaker 3: I got back here eleven two well, where the Titans
- 17:00Speaker 3: and the Jags played a couple of games late where
- 17:03Speaker 3: both teams were sort of two three four wins. Feels
- 17:06Speaker 3: like it's gonna be that. And I think with will Lewis,
- 17:11Speaker 3: it does feel like I think he's gonna be a guy.
- 17:14Speaker 3: It feels like who goes and he'll get a chance
- 17:16Speaker 3: somewhere else, because that's sort of how you're doing quarterbacks now.
- 17:20Speaker 3: But it certainly has felt from Afar like Callahan never
- 17:26Speaker 3: really get all in from the start, so it would
- 17:30Speaker 3: make sense, Hey, I've seen it now, we're gonna figure
- 17:32Speaker 3: out what we want to do.
- 17:33Speaker 4: You know who he reminds me of.
- 17:34Speaker 5: Remember Jonathan Quinn, the six foot six quarterback the Jaguars
- 17:38Speaker 5: drafted from middle Tennessee State. I think in nineteen ninety
- 17:40Speaker 5: eight you looked at him and he went wow. And
- 17:42Speaker 5: he had a cannon for an arm and he could
- 17:44Speaker 5: run like a deer, but he couldn't ever put it
- 17:46Speaker 5: all together on the field and always looked shell shocked
- 17:51Speaker 5: despite all of his obvious talents. That's what I think
- 17:54Speaker 5: I'm seeing when I look at will Loves.
- 17:55Speaker 2: Yeah, not to beat a dead horse on it, but
- 17:57Speaker 2: it's another situation where not a ton of playing time
- 17:59Speaker 2: in college, transferring schools, and you get to the NFL
- 18:02Speaker 2: and han't all put it together beforehand. So now we're
- 18:05Speaker 2: learning things at the NFL level, not the easiest pace.
- 18:07Speaker 3: It's a huge weird dynamic in the NFL right now.
- 18:11Speaker 3: I think you're just gonna say it more and more
- 18:13Speaker 3: because kids are gonna come out not having played and
- 18:16Speaker 3: being told, hey, you're going, Why wouldn't you go because
- 18:19Speaker 3: there's a lot of money? Maybe nil shifts that back
- 18:23Speaker 3: a little bit a little. I'm not smart enough to
- 18:26Speaker 3: know that, I'm not really well.
- 18:27Speaker 5: Some kids don't have the option, though, to stay if
- 18:29Speaker 5: there's a little bit of money in broad understanding that
- 18:32Speaker 5: their best option is more time on task.
- 18:33Speaker 3: Yeah, it could be.
- 18:35Speaker 2: We talked a little bit about this off the top
- 18:36Speaker 2: of the block, but the Texans took on the Lions
- 18:39Speaker 2: last week. We'll play the Texans once more this year.
- 18:41Speaker 2: We're playing the Lions next week, and Jared Goff five
- 18:45Speaker 2: interceptions to overcome that and still get the win is
- 18:48Speaker 2: obviously we talked about how impressive the Lions have been,
- 18:51Speaker 2: but the Texans not looking quite like the Texans.
- 18:54Speaker 5: About Nico Collins the last couple of weeks, Well know
- 18:56Speaker 5: Nico Collins and they're playing without the receiver that they
- 19:01Speaker 5: signed from Buffalo. Yeah, Stefan Diggs and Will Anderson hasn't played.
- 19:08Speaker 4: They still made a game of it.
- 19:09Speaker 5: But when you get five takeaway issue, I feel like
- 19:12Speaker 5: you're gonna win.
- 19:12Speaker 3: Yeah. Look, the Texans are good. All off season, people
- 19:15Speaker 3: kept asking me why haven't the Jags into the Texans gone.
- 19:19Speaker 3: I mean, Texans are clearly in a better spot than
- 19:21Speaker 3: the Jag But I didn't necessarily know that the Texans
- 19:24Speaker 3: were to be anointed in the off season yet because
- 19:27Speaker 3: they were still sort of putting it together. They did
- 19:29Speaker 3: a lot in free agency, and if the division was better,
- 19:33Speaker 3: it would be a competitive thing. So they're still c
- 19:38Speaker 3: J stroud that the league is and he's still at
- 19:44Speaker 3: that point of having to figure out now what defenses
- 19:47Speaker 3: are doing to him right and as part of a
- 19:49Speaker 3: young quarterback development, he's still there. I think he's gonna
- 19:52Speaker 3: be very very good already is. But I guess my
- 19:57Speaker 3: point is they would have been gettable.
- 19:59Speaker 4: Yeah, well to get them any given the.
- 20:00Speaker 3: Jaguar has been good enough to be in that position.
- 20:04Speaker 5: So too bad. You're playing there with the with the
- 20:06Speaker 5: chance to beat the Texans at the end of the
- 20:07Speaker 5: game and couldn't get it done, which has been the
- 20:10Speaker 5: story of the season.
- 20:11Speaker 1: Had another thing to the frustration list for us. Stay
- 20:14Speaker 1: with us.
- 20:14Speaker 2: We're gonna talk to you a little bit about what's
- 20:15Speaker 2: coming up the rest of the week. Jag fans, if
- 20:25Speaker 2: you want customized Jaguars furniture for your home, checkout zip
- 20:27Speaker 2: chair dot com to brought all customizable options. Zip Chair
- 20:30Speaker 2: is furniture for fans.
- 20:44Speaker 3: Yes, he grabbed a towel.
- 20:46Speaker 1: He was like, that's my towel.
- 20:47Speaker 3: I said, sure it is. I love you don't count.
- 20:52Speaker 4: I did a game can.
- 20:55Speaker 3: He was like that's my tow I say, sure is.
- 21:02Speaker 3: He was like next level trolling.
- 21:04Speaker 1: He was like he was right He's like, you won't
- 21:06Speaker 1: let me get him back?
- 21:07Speaker 3: Yeah, I said no, not right now, That's true.
- 21:12Speaker 2: Josh Heinzel next level troll wearing Cam Robinson's towel to
- 21:16Speaker 2: distract him in the game. Loved that matchup. That was
- 21:18Speaker 2: something I had my eye on during that game and it.
- 21:20Speaker 1: Was fun to see.
- 21:21Speaker 5: Yeah, Josh played well. I mean he didn't get a sack,
- 21:24Speaker 5: but he was he was around the quarterback.
- 21:26Speaker 3: Yeah, he was your classic case the other day of
- 21:29Speaker 3: why sacks are often an overrated stat for defensive line play, because, uh,
- 21:36Speaker 3: he was outstanding a lot of pressure.
- 21:37Speaker 1: Who you guys talking to this week or what are
- 21:39Speaker 1: you looking forward to.
- 21:39Speaker 5: I'm going to talk to Bill Shoey who coaches Trayvon
- 21:42Speaker 5: and and Josh and and get a feel for how
- 21:45Speaker 5: how you attacked Jared golf High against the best offensive
- 21:48Speaker 5: line football, because they are, aren't they the best offensive
- 21:51Speaker 5: money football?
- 21:51Speaker 3: If they're not, I want to see percent how you.
- 21:56Speaker 4: How you classified pressure, how you attack it.
- 21:59Speaker 3: I was expecting to have Logan Cook on the ozone
- 22:02Speaker 3: podcast Awesome and I always love having Logan Cook on.
- 22:04Speaker 3: He is he's a fun guy, gets it and he's
- 22:07Speaker 3: he's he's really really good.
- 22:08Speaker 4: Longest ten year Jaguar.
- 22:10Speaker 3: Now, yeah, since Cam was trauded, it might be the
- 22:12Speaker 3: best punter in franchise history.
- 22:13Speaker 5: I don't even think that's Closs, So yeah, I love that. Sorry,
- 22:16Speaker 5: Brian Barker, No, he's got.
- 22:19Speaker 3: But uh, Logan has been consistently very very very.
- 22:23Speaker 4: Good for this thing.
- 22:24Speaker 5: Yeah, and he practices those punts, you know, the ones
- 22:26Speaker 5: where he gets them out and they hit on the
- 22:27Speaker 5: sideline and spend down. I mean that he practices those
- 22:31Speaker 5: every single day. He's one of the great guys in
- 22:33Speaker 5: that locker room.
- 22:34Speaker 1: Absolutely.
- 22:35Speaker 2: We'll be back tomorrow to talk a little bit more
- 22:36Speaker 2: about that line game coming up this weekend on Sunday.
- 22:39Speaker 1: We'll see you then,
