- 0:03Speaker 1: And there's Dan Lanning out there because no one can
- 0:06Speaker 1: yell at him. There is Lanning out on the field,
- 0:08Speaker 1: not focused on the opponent, not focused on his team,
- 0:11Speaker 1: not focused on the game. He is focused on making
- 0:13Speaker 1: Pat McAfee laugh.
- 0:15Speaker 2: Enough. Terrible.
- 0:18Speaker 1: Terrible job by Lanning.
- 0:20Speaker 3: Dan Lanning is the Nick Saban of Mike Norvell's.
- 0:22Speaker 2: Who the hell is Dan Lanning?
- 0:24Speaker 3: Could at least give us Ben Johnson might be the
- 0:26Speaker 3: greatest coach ever.
- 0:29Speaker 1: Uh, no.
- 0:30Speaker 3: It's knock if you agree with me.
- 0:32Speaker 1: Give me the frozen dungeon.
- 0:33Speaker 3: I know we're doing overreaction Mondays.
- 0:35Speaker 1: Right.
- 0:36Speaker 3: I would still be surprised. And it's Tuesday.
- 0:38Speaker 1: You got nothing right there.
- 0:39Speaker 3: It's time to get your pint.
- 0:42Speaker 1: Tomato, tomato.
- 0:43Speaker 3: There is no worse surprise than surprise Gouda.
- 0:46Speaker 1: I felt so bad for Arch Manning playing so poorly.
- 0:48Speaker 1: I was saying to myself, he doesn't have it. He's
- 0:51Speaker 1: not a Manning.
- 0:51Speaker 2: Everyone is a fraud.
- 0:53Speaker 1: This is Steve Spurrier, former Gator head ball coach.
- 0:57Speaker 3: And you've been listening to Stugatz and Company.
- 0:59Speaker 2: Everyone is a fraud. Surprise Gouda.
- 1:03Speaker 1: It is Stugatz and Company presented by FanDuel and the
- 1:06Speaker 1: FanDuel Sportsbook. Kyle Brant going to join us in about
- 1:09Speaker 1: 15 to 20 minutes here. Looking forward to speaking with him.
- 1:12Speaker 1: Todd McShay going to join us as well today. Taylor
- 1:16Speaker 1: says it's over for Aaron Glenn. We'll get to that
- 1:18Speaker 1: in just a second. But yesterday was a fun Sunday
- 1:22Speaker 1: until a couple of quarterbacks decided to get hurt. Well,
- 1:24Speaker 1: they didn't decide it, but they got hurt. both from
- 1:27Speaker 1: the same draft class, Caleb Williams and Jaden Daniels again.
- 1:31Speaker 1: Jaden Daniels, that was gruesome. Let's start there. The Jaden
- 1:34Speaker 1: Daniels injury was gruesome, and they showed it way too
- 1:39Speaker 1: many times, too many times. And I think Tom Brady,
- 1:43Speaker 1: was it Tom Brady on that game, Mikey? He represented.
- 1:46Speaker 1: What did he say when he saw Jaden Daniels' dislocated elbow?
- 1:51Speaker 4: Tom Brady was all of us because when they showed
- 1:54Speaker 4: the slow motion, like, cause they, Oh, I think Jaden
- 1:56Speaker 4: Daniels got hurt on that. And then they show the
- 1:59Speaker 4: slow motion and you see J Daniels elbow bend in
- 2:02Speaker 4: a way that elbows are not supposed to bend.
- 2:04Speaker 1: Yes.
- 2:05Speaker 2: Tom Brady, like all of us was watching and went,
- 2:07Speaker 2: Oh shit. Yes.
- 2:08Speaker 1: Well, I love that Brady is so relaxed now and
- 2:10Speaker 1: he's getting better in that booth and he is saying
- 2:12Speaker 1: things that we're saying in our living room because I
- 2:15Speaker 1: think that's one of the keys to doing that job
- 2:18Speaker 1: in a way that's great, in a way that's different,
- 2:20Speaker 1: in a way that's unique, in a way that's fearless.
- 2:22Speaker 1: Him just blurting out, oh, bleep, is exactly what I
- 2:26Speaker 1: was saying when I saw the injury.
- 2:28Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah.
- 2:30Speaker 4: It's funny, you said two quarterbacks got hurt. One got
- 2:34Speaker 4: hurt and one got injured. And I think that is
- 2:37Speaker 4: something we need to get into at some point.
- 2:39Speaker 1: Jaden Daniels leaving that game is acceptable to most. Caleb
- 2:44Speaker 1: Williams leaving the game somehow has become unacceptable to just
- 2:49Speaker 1: about everyone who doesn't live in Chicago. What is going
- 2:53Speaker 1: on with Caleb Williams, Taylor, the greatest quarterback I've ever seen?
- 2:57Speaker 3: So the update from Tom Pelissero is that Bears quarterback
- 3:00Speaker 3: Caleb Williams avoided any major injury to his hamstring Sunday
- 3:04Speaker 3: test confirmed. The team isn't even ruling him out for
- 3:07Speaker 3: next Monday's game against the Eagles. Caleb Williams, listen.
- 3:15Speaker 1: Come on. Leave my guy alone, man.
- 3:17Speaker 2: He was hurt. No, absolutely not.
- 3:19Speaker 1: Go ahead, Taylor.
- 3:20Speaker 3: I love Caleb Williams. You simply cannot get carded off
- 3:24Speaker 3: the field for a hamstring injury.
- 3:28Speaker 1: I thought it was an Achilles at the time, maybe
- 3:30Speaker 1: an ACL. I thought he died.
- 3:33Speaker 4: I thought he literally just a sniper took him out
- 3:37Speaker 4: because the way he went down and then there's a
- 3:40Speaker 4: moment on the broadcast where the play-by-play guy Stop talking.
- 3:45Speaker 4: And you heard Caleb Williams roll over and let out
- 3:48Speaker 4: this primal scream.
- 3:50Speaker 2: Yes. Like he had just ruined his entire season.
- 3:53Speaker 1: I don't think anyone touched him. He felt Van Ginkle's
- 3:55Speaker 1: presence and he had to kind of make a move
- 3:57Speaker 1: from there. And he took a big step and I
- 3:59Speaker 1: thought he was going to score and the Bears would
- 4:01Speaker 1: go on to win that game. But that didn't happen.
- 4:04Speaker 1: He just fell to the ground.
- 4:05Speaker 3: So the Twitter doctors came out and they were like,
- 4:09Speaker 3: looks like a hamstring strain. And you have Bears fans
- 4:12Speaker 3: mad at them responding back saying, can you not open
- 4:15Speaker 3: your eyes? Look, he couldn't put any pressure on the leg.
- 4:18Speaker 3: Did you not see his reaction, you idiots? It's an Achilles.
- 4:21Speaker 3: It's an ACL. Something that is very clearly season-ending when
- 4:25Speaker 3: he's got tears in his eyes, the towel over his head,
- 4:28Speaker 3: the thumbs up to the crowd, the emphatic thumbs up
- 4:30Speaker 3: to the crowd.
- 4:30Speaker 2: The towel.
- 4:31Speaker 3: Then Mike Florio comes out after Sunday Night Football and goes,
- 4:34Speaker 3: by the way, guys. Bears think it's a grade one
- 4:37Speaker 3: hamstring strain.
- 4:37Speaker 1: Could have stayed in the game.
- 4:38Speaker 2: Grade one.
- 4:43Speaker 4: James Daniels got hurt in a way that if you
- 4:45Speaker 4: get into a bad car accident, you could get hurt.
- 4:47Speaker 2: Yes.
- 4:48Speaker 4: Caleb Williams got hurt in a way where if I
- 4:50Speaker 4: step wrong mowing my lawn, I get hurt.
- 4:54Speaker 1: He's not going to be back next week. There's no
- 4:56Speaker 1: way he's coming back next week.
- 4:57Speaker 3: And this is an unpopular take when it comes to
- 5:01Speaker 3: Caleb Williams, because I know Stu Gatz has already done
- 5:04Speaker 3: the thing where he crowns him.
- 5:05Speaker 2: Yes.
- 5:06Speaker 3: Even before Caleb Williams got hurt, he struggled against that
- 5:10Speaker 3: Vikings defense. He did not look good against the Flores Blitz.
- 5:14Speaker 3: He didn't look good when he was pressured. He didn't
- 5:15Speaker 3: look good throwing outside the pocket. I know the conditions
- 5:19Speaker 3: weren't favorable, and would I take Caleb Williams as my
- 5:22Speaker 3: franchise quarterback?
- 5:23Speaker 2: 100%.
- 5:24Speaker 3: Do I think he has all the tools to be
- 5:26Speaker 3: an elite quarterback?
- 5:27Speaker 2: Yes.
- 5:28Speaker 3: I don't think Caleb Williams, though, is anywhere close to
- 5:31Speaker 3: the tier of quarterbacks with Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes and
- 5:35Speaker 3: Joe Burrow. And games like Sunday kind of just prove
- 5:38Speaker 3: that where the flashes for Caleb Williams are there. but
- 5:40Speaker 3: the consistency really isn't.
- 5:42Speaker 1: Okay.
- 5:42Speaker 2: I'm sorry.
- 5:43Speaker 4: The elements cannot be an excuse. If you're going to
- 5:46Speaker 4: be the quarterback in Chicago, right? Like the elements can't
- 5:50Speaker 4: be like that has to be just part of your game.
- 5:53Speaker 2: No, I know.
- 5:53Speaker 1: But Robert floor has is really good at his job.
- 5:56Speaker 1: That defense is really, really good. And I've seen Caleb
- 5:58Speaker 1: Williams make throws against the wind in that stadium that
- 6:02Speaker 1: no other quarterback in the NFL can make other than
- 6:04Speaker 1: Josh Allen, essentially.
- 6:06Speaker 3: So, Just a quick correction. Robert Flores is the MLB host.
- 6:10Speaker 2: Roflo. Roflo.
- 6:13Speaker 1: I'm sorry.
- 6:15Speaker 2: Brian Flores.
- 6:15Speaker 1: Brian Flores. Roflo was always on my mind. I mean,
- 6:18Speaker 1: he was one of my closest friends when I was
- 6:20Speaker 1: at ESPN. I can't stop thinking about him. Sorry about that.
- 6:23Speaker 2: Brian Flores.
- 6:25Speaker 3: But when it does come to Caleb Williams, the baseline
- 6:28Speaker 3: for those other quarterbacks that we mentioned, the Mahomes, the Allens,
- 6:32Speaker 3: the Burroughs, The baselines are so high for those guys
- 6:35Speaker 3: that even when they're not at their best, you still
- 6:37Speaker 3: trust them to consistently operate the offense. With Caleb Williams,
- 6:41Speaker 3: the accuracy, the decision-making, the pocket presence, the ability to
- 6:45Speaker 3: just stay on schedule as a quarterback, it does leave
- 6:48Speaker 3: a lot to be desired on a week-to-week basis.
- 6:50Speaker 1: He was pretty consistent last year. I mean, he was.
- 6:53Speaker 1: He got injured. I mean, what are you going to
- 6:57Speaker 1: do about it? The NFL, everyone stopped. It was like
- 7:00Speaker 1: everyone stopped. That stadium became silent. I was sitting at
- 7:03Speaker 1: home watching it. I was saying to myself, oh, my God,
- 7:06Speaker 1: the greatest young talent we have in the game. He's out.
- 7:09Speaker 1: This is not good. I thought he was going to
- 7:10Speaker 1: be out for the year. It is pretty ridiculous that
- 7:13Speaker 1: we find out hours later that he might play next week.
- 7:17Speaker 1: I don't know what to do with Caleb Williams because
- 7:19Speaker 1: now he's going to be labeled as someone who is,
- 7:22Speaker 1: I guess, too emotional, not a tough guy. He's going
- 7:26Speaker 1: to get those labels, right? Taylor's already doing it to him.
- 7:30Speaker 1: You're tearing him down. We built him up for a year,
- 7:32Speaker 1: and now we're going to tear him down because he
- 7:34Speaker 1: had a misstep.
- 7:36Speaker 3: No, I don't have any problems with Caleb Williams showing
- 7:38Speaker 3: emotion on the football field. I'm just saying from a
- 7:41Speaker 3: quarterbacking perspective, his quarterback play leaves a bit to be
- 7:46Speaker 3: desired before you start comparing him to the Josh Allens.
- 7:49Speaker 1: Of the world. Right, because he only had three points
- 7:52Speaker 1: headed into that before the injury, right?
- 7:55Speaker 3: Yeah, he could run up a score against the Carolina Panthers,
- 7:58Speaker 3: but when Brian Flores comes to town, all of a
- 8:01Speaker 3: sudden you don't look like Superman anymore.
- 8:03Speaker 1: Speaking of the Panthers, they're good. I like that team.
- 8:06Speaker 1: Carolina Panthers, they are fun to watch. They're a good
- 8:09Speaker 1: little football team. Spunky. You guys don't agree?
- 8:15Speaker 4: I I've been I've been on the Panthers train since
- 8:17Speaker 4: they won their own Super Bowl last year in the
- 8:19Speaker 4: playoffs by giving the Rams a game.
- 8:22Speaker 1: I was like, you know what?
- 8:23Speaker 2: Right. This team's on to something.
- 8:24Speaker 1: I'm just saying it's going to be all right. I'm
- 8:25Speaker 1: just saying of all those lousy teams in that division,
- 8:27Speaker 1: that's the team I love the most in that division.
- 8:30Speaker 1: That's all. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
- 8:32Speaker 2: Lousy teams. Yes. The Saints beat the Ravens.
- 8:34Speaker 1: Oh, that's right. Oh, your boy. Your boy. He's becoming
- 8:37Speaker 1: a star, man.
- 8:38Speaker 2: We are mother shuckers, baby.
- 8:40Speaker 1: Yeah. I have to reach out to him. I do.
- 8:45Speaker 1: I have to see if he'll join us this week.
- 8:46Speaker 1: This is the right time to get him. The Ravens,
- 8:49Speaker 1: Lamar Jackson now 1-1. The Saints should be 2-0, Mikey.
- 8:52Speaker 1: You are right. I apologize. Carolina is not my favorite
- 8:55Speaker 1: team in that division. It is the Saints. They're exciting.
- 8:58Speaker 1: They're fun to watch. They have the quarterback position figured out,
- 9:01Speaker 1: and now they just get to build.
- 9:03Speaker 4: I'm just saying, it's going to be fun watching those
- 9:06Speaker 4: two teams battle it out to see who's going to
- 9:08Speaker 4: be 9-8 to go to the playoffs for years to come.
- 9:12Speaker 1: You have them both. Did they play each other last
- 9:14Speaker 1: game of the season? It'd be great if they did.
- 9:16Speaker 1: I hope so. They both entered that game 8-8. One
- 9:18Speaker 1: goes 9-8, one goes 8-9, and God forbid there's a tie.
- 9:23Speaker 2: 8-8-1.
- 9:25Speaker 1: You're checking the schedule right now? Yes.
- 9:29Speaker 2: No, the Saints play the Bucs.
- 9:30Speaker 1: That's unfortunate. They should reschedule. Yes. The Bucs losing, huh?
- 9:35Speaker 1: How about that, Baker Mayfield? You take that chip off
- 9:37Speaker 1: his shoulder and look what happens. This is going to
- 9:39Speaker 1: be so fascinating. How Deshaun Watson is going to be
- 9:43Speaker 1: greeted when he gets back to Cleveland, because they played
- 9:47Speaker 1: two road games. They're one and one. No one expected
- 9:50Speaker 1: Deshaun Watson and the Browns to win that game yesterday.
- 9:53Speaker 1: He played fairly well in that game, and Todd Munkin
- 9:56Speaker 1: was very adamant after the game, and now they're forced
- 9:59Speaker 1: to start Deshaun Watson here and it seems like he'll
- 10:02Speaker 1: be the starter long term you're not going to sit
- 10:04Speaker 1: him after that start right Mikey.
- 10:07Speaker 4: Yeah no I that was their plan they seem to
- 10:10Speaker 4: be just anti going to Shador Sanders And now he
- 10:14Speaker 4: gets a win on the road. And it's like, well, see,
- 10:17Speaker 4: we were right. No, the bucks just might not be
- 10:20Speaker 4: as good as we thought they were.
- 10:21Speaker 2: Right.
- 10:21Speaker 1: But Todd Monken, this is the first time he's had
- 10:23Speaker 1: a head coaching job. And whatever happened before he got there.
- 10:28Speaker 1: And I hate to say it this way, but it's
- 10:30Speaker 1: not his problem. His problem is deciding on the best
- 10:34Speaker 1: quarterback that's going to help him win football games in
- 10:38Speaker 1: his first season as a head coach. And he chose
- 10:40Speaker 1: Deshaun Watson. And yesterday, he was proven to be right.
- 10:45Speaker 1: I mean, Deshaun Watson was good yesterday. He won a
- 10:47Speaker 1: game on the road. That game took five hours because
- 10:49Speaker 1: of a lightning delay. But Todd Munkin was right. He
- 10:52Speaker 1: chose the quarterback that gives him the best chance to
- 10:54Speaker 1: win football games. And as Bomani said last week on
- 10:57Speaker 1: the show, think about it. If he is starting Deshaun Watson,
- 11:00Speaker 1: who is so unpopular, not just in that city, but
- 11:03Speaker 1: every city, think about how bad Shador Sanders has to be.
- 11:07Speaker 3: It was a great win for Todd Munkin to get
- 11:09Speaker 3: his first career NFL win. But I was kind of
- 11:13Speaker 3: sick of him by the time he got to his
- 11:15Speaker 3: press conference where he's sticking out his chest and he's doing,
- 11:17Speaker 3: same old Browns, same old Browns, F that. We're not
- 11:20Speaker 3: the same old Browns. We took offense to that. Like, okay,
- 11:23Speaker 3: you beat a downed Buccaneers team in some sloppy conditions
- 11:28Speaker 3: in a one-score game. Todd Munkin, let's not act like
- 11:31Speaker 3: all of a sudden the Browns are going to be
- 11:32Speaker 3: some contenders in that division.
- 11:34Speaker 1: He was too defiant? Is that what you're saying?
- 11:36Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 11:37Speaker 3: Like, if Todd Munkin– if the Browns finish this season– 2-15,
- 11:43Speaker 3: nobody will be surprised.
- 11:45Speaker 1: I think I would be now, though. I mean, do
- 11:48Speaker 1: you guys think Deshaun played well?
- 11:51Speaker 2: No, not particularly. I mean, I think the defense played
- 11:55Speaker 2: well to win the game.
- 11:56Speaker 1: No, they didn't.
- 11:57Speaker 4: I think Baker played poorly, and I think Deshaun Watson
- 12:01Speaker 4: did enough.
- 12:03Speaker 1: I mean, it was 24-30 with two touchdowns, no interceptions.
- 12:06Speaker 1: I mean. It's a pretty decent game. Yes.
- 12:10Speaker 2: That's a decent game. Gino Smith had a decent game.
- 12:12Speaker 1: Are you all like, yeah, no, I'm just saying I
- 12:14Speaker 1: have Deshaun Watson was going to Mikey. He was tracking
- 12:17Speaker 1: to be one of the great quarterbacks in the NFL
- 12:19Speaker 1: until all the off the field stuff happened. And that's
- 12:21Speaker 1: on his own. That's his fault. That's no one else's fault.
- 12:23Speaker 1: But Deshaun Watson, I'm just.
- 12:25Speaker 4: Saying that Deshaun Watson was bad his last year before
- 12:28Speaker 4: that stuff came out.
- 12:29Speaker 1: Understood. But this is the best game I've seen him
- 12:31Speaker 1: play since he was actually good. Is that fair?
- 12:34Speaker 2: Okay. Right.
- 12:35Speaker 1: That's fair. How do you think he's going to be
- 12:37Speaker 1: greeted in Cleveland? Like standing ovation? What do you think
- 12:39Speaker 1: the Browns fans are going to do? Because they're happy
- 12:41Speaker 1: just to get a win. I mean, they are starved
- 12:43Speaker 1: for their team just to be relevant, you know?
- 12:47Speaker 4: If you're right, that's sad. If you're going to look
- 12:51Speaker 4: at Deshaun Watson's body of work and then he gets
- 12:54Speaker 4: an ugly road win against the Bucs with a five-hour
- 12:57Speaker 4: lightning delay.
- 12:58Speaker 1: And suddenly he's the toast of the town.
- 13:00Speaker 2: And then all of a.
- 13:00Speaker 4: Sudden he gets standing ovations, then maybe it's time to
- 13:03Speaker 4: look in the mirror and think, maybe I should root
- 13:05Speaker 4: for a different team.
- 13:06Speaker 1: That is fair. Who do they play this week at home, though?
- 13:08Speaker 1: Because fans have short memories, man, especially when it makes
- 13:11Speaker 1: them feel, especially when the things going on make them
- 13:13Speaker 1: feel good, you know? Who do they play next week
- 13:16Speaker 1: at home? Do we know?
- 13:17Speaker 2: The Panthers.
- 13:21Speaker 1: Oh, wow. Exciting. Game of the week. I mean, Sunday
- 13:28Speaker 1: night football.
- 13:31Speaker 2: No, that's a hard one o'clock.
- 13:33Speaker 1: Yeah, no, I know. Taylor, why is it over for
- 13:36Speaker 1: Aaron Glenn? I have a feeling you're right. I can't
- 13:39Speaker 1: stand Aaron Glenn. I mean, I really can't. We were
- 13:41Speaker 1: so close to being 2-0, but why is it over
- 13:42Speaker 1: for him? Clock management?
- 13:45Speaker 3: Yeah, the clock management from Aaron Glenn was so bad,
- 13:48Speaker 3: and I've tried my best to be an Aaron Glenn
- 13:51Speaker 3: defender because I think you do see a different Jets team,
- 13:55Speaker 3: a team that Jets fans should probably be a bit
- 13:58Speaker 3: prouder of, but then there's just some decisions that he
- 14:02Speaker 3: makes where it's like, okay, this guy is a great
- 14:04Speaker 3: defensive coordinator, but he still doesn't really understand what it
- 14:09Speaker 3: takes to be a head coach, and you're always going
- 14:11Speaker 3: to be left wanting more with Aaron Glenn as the
- 14:14Speaker 3: decision maker, where the clock management at the end of
- 14:17Speaker 3: the fourth quarter was a disaster, where they basically stopped
- 14:20Speaker 3: the Packers on a fourth and five with 45 seconds left,
- 14:24Speaker 3: and then somehow, with two timeouts, you get to a
- 14:27Speaker 3: situation where the Packers have the 10-second runoff, are able
- 14:31Speaker 3: to call a timeout with two seconds and get a
- 14:33Speaker 3: free Hail Mary. Now, ultimately, it didn't cost you, but
- 14:36Speaker 3: even when Aaron Glenn was asked about it in the postgame,
- 14:38Speaker 3: he was like, yeah, I didn't even really consider taking
- 14:41Speaker 3: a timeout. It's like, whoa, you didn't even consider taking
- 14:44Speaker 3: the timeout? And then overtime starts, and they get the
- 14:47Speaker 3: coin toss, and the Jets win the coin toss, and
- 14:49Speaker 3: Aaron Glenn says, we want the ball. And you're like, no,
- 14:52Speaker 3: if you win the coin toss in overtime, you should
- 14:54Speaker 3: always want the ball second. And then Aaron Glenn's reasoning
- 14:57Speaker 3: in the postgame was, we wanted to control the clock,
- 15:00Speaker 3: which I'm not even sure what that means, Aaron Glenn
- 15:03Speaker 3: saying we want to control the clock, because both teams
- 15:05Speaker 3: get a possession in overtime.
- 15:06Speaker 1: I'm not sure he knows what that means. He just
- 15:08Speaker 1: had to say something because he's up on the podium
- 15:10Speaker 1: after the game and everyone's grilling him and questioning his
- 15:12Speaker 1: clock management skills. And it's like he doesn't even know
- 15:15Speaker 1: what's going on out there on the field. He played
- 15:18Speaker 1: in the NFL and he was an assistant coach for
- 15:20Speaker 1: the Lions, a D coordinator. How does he not know
- 15:22Speaker 1: this stuff?
- 15:24Speaker 2: Because because he didn't know. That's the point.
- 15:26Speaker 4: He didn't know that both teams got the possession because
- 15:29Speaker 4: he hasn't been in a situation to be in overtime
- 15:32Speaker 4: because he hasn't been good enough to even bring a
- 15:34Speaker 4: team to overtime.
- 15:35Speaker 2: OK, so when he got there, he was like, of course,
- 15:37Speaker 2: we want the ball. We're going to go down and
- 15:39Speaker 2: we're going to score.
- 15:39Speaker 1: We're going to win the game.
- 15:40Speaker 2: Yes. But you didn't because you shouldn't have taken the ball.
- 15:43Speaker 1: Right now, some coaches will take the ball first. You
- 15:45Speaker 1: have to factor the weather in as well. The weather
- 15:47Speaker 1: was not good in New York yesterday during that game.
- 15:50Speaker 1: Some coaches will take the ball first because it's 10
- 15:52Speaker 1: minutes and perhaps they'll get a second possession. You know
- 15:55Speaker 1: what I'm saying? Some coaches do that. They do do that, Mike.
- 15:59Speaker 2: What?
- 16:00Speaker 4: Did you see from that team the second half of
- 16:05Speaker 4: that game to think, we want two offensive possessions?
- 16:12Speaker 2: Right. That would be my question.
- 16:13Speaker 1: Kick the ball off, play defense. Your defense has played
- 16:16Speaker 1: well the entire game.
- 16:17Speaker 2: Hopefully you get a short field.
- 16:18Speaker 1: Yes, and then you know what you have to do, right?
- 16:20Speaker 1: You know what you have to do on your drive,
- 16:22Speaker 1: whether it's a field goal or a touchdown, and it
- 16:24Speaker 1: wins the game because once that second possession kicks in,
- 16:27Speaker 1: if the other team doesn't score, they win the game.
- 16:29Speaker 3: Mikey, I felt so bad because all my friends that
- 16:32Speaker 3: I grew up with are still Jets fans, and I'm
- 16:34Speaker 3: in the group chats with them from the times I
- 16:36Speaker 3: was Jets fans, and I was texting them during the game,
- 16:38Speaker 3: and I was like, hey, guys, I think this Jets
- 16:40Speaker 3: team might be different. This team looks a little good,
- 16:43Speaker 3: and they're just texting me. They're like, you have forgotten
- 16:46Speaker 3: what it's like to be a Jets fan. The other
- 16:48Speaker 3: shoe is going to drop, and I'm like, I don't know.
- 16:50Speaker 3: I think Aaron Glenn's really turning a corner, and then
- 16:53Speaker 3: the second I said that, The other shoe dropped.
- 16:55Speaker 1: Well, because, yeah, we know. I mean, my friends were
- 16:58Speaker 1: saying the same thing to me, exact same thing to me.
- 17:01Speaker 1: I said, stop it. Knock it off. They're like, Stu, 17-7,
- 17:04Speaker 1: we're going to be 2-0. And I said, guys, and
- 17:06Speaker 1: here's the thing with the Jets. If they've turned the corner,
- 17:10Speaker 1: they would have won that game. As an organization, if
- 17:14Speaker 1: they've turned any sort of corner, they would have won
- 17:17Speaker 1: that game. Do you know how many times me and
- 17:19Speaker 1: Mikey A have watched being up 17-7 in the second half?
- 17:23Speaker 1: Poor clock management and a coach blowing a game for us.
- 17:26Speaker 1: My entire life I've watched that game. I knew it
- 17:29Speaker 1: was coming because I've seen it a thousand times before.
- 17:33Speaker 4: My buddy is a Packers fan and he went to
- 17:35Speaker 4: the game. And he texted me at halftime and he goes, wow,
- 17:38Speaker 4: you guys are going to get this one. And I go,
- 17:40Speaker 4: this game is not in doubt at all. You are
- 17:43Speaker 4: winning this game. There is 0% chance you don't win
- 17:46Speaker 4: this game.
- 17:48Speaker 2: Aaron Glenn.
- 17:49Speaker 4: Is a great leader of men. He's just leading them
- 17:52Speaker 4: in circles. He has no idea where he's leading them to,
- 17:56Speaker 4: but he's just going round and round as same old Jets.
- 18:00Speaker 4: And as far as this team turn the corner, you
- 18:03Speaker 4: spent years drafting high, using high picks on offensive linemen
- 18:09Speaker 4: and pass rushers. You know what you couldn't do? Run
- 18:12Speaker 4: to pick up one yard with all your top players.
- 18:14Speaker 4: picks at offensive line, and you couldn't get a stop
- 18:17Speaker 4: when the defense was.
- 18:19Speaker 2: Able to pin their ears back and go get.
- 18:22Speaker 3: Oh, Bailey.
- 18:23Speaker 2: Might be the defensive rookie of the year.
- 18:26Speaker 4: No, he was nowhere to be found when you needed
- 18:29Speaker 4: somebody to win a battle.
- 18:30Speaker 2: Armand Membu, oh, he's a great right tackle. He fell
- 18:33Speaker 2: down on the fourth and one. Fell down. It was laughable.
- 18:39Speaker 3: Mikey, how many Jets Sundays... And exactly like that, where
- 18:43Speaker 3: it's just a wet ride home from MetLife and you're
- 18:46Speaker 3: just stuck in traffic for like a couple of hours.
- 18:48Speaker 1: Most of them.
- 18:49Speaker 4: There is a reason I don't go to Jets games.
- 18:52Speaker 4: I go to football games every year. I never go
- 18:55Speaker 4: to a Jets game.
- 18:56Speaker 2: Yep.
- 18:57Speaker 1: So my wife and daughter went to the first Aaron
- 18:59Speaker 1: Rodgers game. They were begging me to go. And what
- 19:05Speaker 1: are you laughing about? I said, I don't go to
- 19:07Speaker 1: Jet games. They said, why? I said, the ride home
- 19:09Speaker 1: is too much. It's always a disappointment.
- 19:12Speaker 4: Listen, say what you want about Aaron Rodgers. That man
- 19:14Speaker 4: tore his Achilles and tried to walk off the field.
- 19:17Speaker 4: Caleb Williams got a hamstring strain and needed to be
- 19:20Speaker 4: carted off.
- 19:21Speaker 1: What are we doing to poor Caleb Williams, man? You
- 19:24Speaker 1: guys were waiting for this. You were waiting for the
- 19:26Speaker 1: moment where you could come in and crush Caleb Williams.
- 19:32Speaker 1: He's still the greatest quarterback I've ever seen. He's going
- 19:34Speaker 1: to be great. He's going to be the greatest quarterback
- 19:36Speaker 1: we've ever seen. He's so good when he plays, guys.
- 19:39Speaker 2: As long as he avoids Legos.
- 19:43Speaker 1: Why is social media just crushing him today? They think
- 19:47Speaker 1: he's soft.
- 19:47Speaker 2: Deservedly.
- 19:48Speaker 1: They think he's soft, huh? Oh, gosh.
- 19:51Speaker 2: Oh, my God.
- 19:52Speaker 1: All right, let's get to Kyle Brandt here. Good morning, football.
- 19:56Speaker 1: He's also written a book. He's a good friend. I
- 19:58Speaker 1: can't wait to speak to him. He's up next. Stu

- 21:27Speaker 1: Kyle Brandt. He's an author as well. Do You? How
- 21:30Speaker 1: to Bet on Yourself by Being Yourself. It's out January 5th,
- 21:33Speaker 1: available for pre-order right now. We'll get to Rye Playland
- 21:37Speaker 1: in just a second. Let's talk about your book real
- 21:39Speaker 1: quick here. Why'd you write the book, Kyle?
- 21:43Speaker 2: What a great question. One has to ask themselves that
- 21:46Speaker 2: exact question. A couple of reasons. I've had a really
- 21:49Speaker 2: weird life and a really weird career. My Twitter bio
- 21:52Speaker 2: for years has said my resume is stranger than yours.
- 21:55Speaker 2: Doesn't mean it's better and it may be worse, but
- 21:57Speaker 2: I've been through some weird, weird stuff, guys. I've been
- 22:01Speaker 2: on MTV's The Real World. I was for three years
- 22:04Speaker 2: on a soap opera and then I started working for
- 22:06Speaker 2: Jim Rome and now I work for the NFL. I've
- 22:09Speaker 2: been all over the place. I played college football and
- 22:11Speaker 2: There's been a lot of superior resumes to mine, but
- 22:14Speaker 2: never one this weird, dude.
- 22:16Speaker 1: How'd you transition? I think it was days of our lives, right?
- 22:19Speaker 1: That was the soap you were on. How'd you transition
- 22:21Speaker 1: out of that into the Jim Rome show? How did
- 22:23Speaker 1: that happen even?
- 22:24Speaker 2: It's a great question. So I was on Days of
- 22:26Speaker 2: Our Lives for three and a half years. I played
- 22:28Speaker 2: Philip Kiriakis. I was a one-legged Marine who became a
- 22:31Speaker 2: NASCAR driver, and I'm not making that up. I left
- 22:33Speaker 2: the show, I left town, and they recast me the
- 22:36Speaker 2: next day as some new actor. Because everybody does this
- 22:39Speaker 2: to guts. Everybody who's on a soap opera leaves because
- 22:42Speaker 2: they're all going to become Matt Damon. And same with me.
- 22:44Speaker 2: I left, I did my three years. I'm like, okay,
- 22:47Speaker 2: now I'm going to become a movie star. One year later,
- 22:49Speaker 2: I was out of money. I was completely broke. I
- 22:53Speaker 2: was working an overnight infomercial with Jose Canseco. That story
- 22:56Speaker 2: is also in the book. But I had been keeping
- 22:58Speaker 2: a blog. That's what people did in the 2000s. We
- 23:00Speaker 2: just blogged. Just write any kind of nonsense. And Jim
- 23:04Speaker 2: Rome found my blog somehow, some way. And one morning,
- 23:08Speaker 2: I woke up on a Thursday at like 11.30 a.m.
- 23:10Speaker 2: I'd slept in my robe. And I get an email
- 23:13Speaker 2: on my BlackBerry curve from Jim Rome. And he's like,
- 23:17Speaker 2: I saw your blog, good stuff, strong takes, you know,
- 23:20Speaker 2: like we should meet. I'm thinking about adding to my
- 23:22Speaker 2: team here. And I went down and I met him
- 23:24Speaker 2: and I worked with him for nine years. And that's
- 23:27Speaker 2: what happened.
- 23:28Speaker 1: That's amazing. So Rome was reading your blog and said,
- 23:33Speaker 1: I need that man to be my producer. I don't
- 23:35Speaker 1: care if he's doing soap operas, right?
- 23:37Speaker 2: There was a blog, and I remember I asked them,
- 23:39Speaker 2: I said, what was the blog entry that you liked?
- 23:42Speaker 1: That hooked you in, right?
- 23:43Speaker 2: Yeah, there was one, and I remember it strictly. So
- 23:45Speaker 2: I used to go and work out at the Valley
- 23:47Speaker 2: Total Fitness on Ventura in Studio City in L.A., in
- 23:50Speaker 2: the Valley. And one day I was running on the treadmill,
- 23:54Speaker 2: just doing like every other schnook, doing no big deal.
- 23:57Speaker 2: And I noticed the guy to my right is tall
- 23:59Speaker 2: and really athletic. And as I'm running, I'm not making
- 24:03Speaker 2: this up, I look over, And the guy running on
- 24:06Speaker 2: the treadmill next to me is Carl Lewis.
- 24:08Speaker 1: What?
- 24:10Speaker 2: I'm running next to Carl Lewis, the all-time legendary Olympian.
- 24:13Speaker 2: And so I take a peek like one would at
- 24:16Speaker 2: the urinal, but it was at the treadmill. So I
- 24:18Speaker 2: look at his little display.
- 24:19Speaker 1: Right.
- 24:20Speaker 2: I'm running faster than Carl Lewis on the treadmill. Like
- 24:23Speaker 2: I'm beating him. And so I suck at Carl Lewis.
- 24:26Speaker 2: So I do this whole blog about that. And Rome's like, yeah, man,
- 24:30Speaker 2: that Carl Lewis blog was good. That was funny. It
- 24:31Speaker 2: made me laugh. And then that was the blog that
- 24:34Speaker 2: really sent me on a path that I'm talking to
- 24:36Speaker 2: you today on because that led to sports and ESPN
- 24:40Speaker 2: and then eventually the NFL and all of this stuff.
- 24:43Speaker 2: And that's like just this book. I don't know if
- 24:45Speaker 2: it's good or if it's bad. Like, it's crazy. Like
- 24:47Speaker 2: that Carl Lewis and the treadmill thing is just a
- 24:49Speaker 2: drop in the bucket. And I put it all in there.
- 24:51Speaker 2: We didn't even mention my Jose Canseco drive by, but
- 24:54Speaker 2: that's all true. Yes. So that's what's in the book.
- 24:56Speaker 1: Well, tell us about the Conseco drive-by real quick. I
- 24:58Speaker 1: have follow-ups on the treadmill. I do.
- 25:01Speaker 2: Like I said, I was broke. Yes. And every actor
- 25:04Speaker 2: who's running out of money in L.A., there's a few
- 25:07Speaker 2: places you can go. You can become a personal trainer.
- 25:09Speaker 2: You can become a realtor. Yes. Or you can, like,
- 25:13Speaker 2: go into hosting. So I'm like, yeah, maybe I'll try
- 25:15Speaker 2: to be, you know, I can't be Matt Damon. Maybe
- 25:18Speaker 2: I can be Mario Lopez. And my agent found this
- 25:20Speaker 2: thing that, like, you know those things you see late
- 25:22Speaker 2: at night, Stugatz, where it's like, I got this $ 5, 000
- 25:26Speaker 2: set of golf clubs for just $ 12 because I bid
- 25:29Speaker 2: on it. I'm like, you know those things?
- 25:31Speaker 1: Yes, of course.
- 25:31Speaker 2: I was hosting one of those, and it was called
- 25:33Speaker 2: Bid for Prizes. Bid the number four prizes. And I
- 25:38Speaker 2: show up to do the thing, and they're like, well,
- 25:40Speaker 2: you know, we flexed a little muscle. We have a
- 25:42Speaker 2: friend of a friend here. We're going to have Jose
- 25:44Speaker 2: Canseco co-host it with you. I'm like, what? The Bass brother? Like,
- 25:48Speaker 2: the juiced-out Bass brother is going to come in here?
- 25:50Speaker 2: Me and Jose and, like, three Barker's beauties– screaming at
- 25:55Speaker 2: the camera to bid on this cappuccino machine right now
- 25:58Speaker 2: because we're running out. And it was just absolute rock bottom,
- 26:03Speaker 2: terrible moment. I got through it and eventually Rome found me.
- 26:07Speaker 2: But again, it's all in the bleeping book.
- 26:09Speaker 1: Right. To be fair to the other, you know, to Ginseko,
- 26:12Speaker 1: they were both juiced, I mean. Yeah, definitely.
- 26:16Speaker 2: Yes. I think I was too at the time.
- 26:19Speaker 1: Back to Carl Lewis before we get to some football
- 26:22Speaker 1: real quick. When you walked into the gym, was he
- 26:24Speaker 1: already on the treadmill? I ask this for a specific reason.
- 26:27Speaker 1: Was he already on it?
- 26:28Speaker 2: Yeah, I think when I got on, you know, there's
- 26:31Speaker 2: 400 treadmills lined up and every single one of them
- 26:34Speaker 2: is taken. It's one of those things, Stugatz, where it's like,
- 26:36Speaker 2: 30 minute maximum time on the treadmill. So there's like
- 26:39Speaker 2: a waiting line, like who's got next. Someone got off
- 26:43Speaker 2: and I scurried right up there and got on it.
- 26:45Speaker 2: So he had already been on.
- 26:47Speaker 1: I asked this because I was staying at the Doubletree
- 26:49Speaker 1: in Bristol. Mikey knows this story, I think. And I
- 26:52Speaker 1: walked into their gym at the time when I was
- 26:53Speaker 1: still walking into gyms. And Merrill Hodge was on the treadmill.
- 26:57Speaker 1: And I was so afraid to go on the one
- 26:59Speaker 1: next to him because he's in such better shape than
- 27:01Speaker 1: me that I decided to delay my workout for a
- 27:05Speaker 1: half hour until Hodge got off, you know?
- 27:08Speaker 2: Well, I don't blame you because Hodge is one of
- 27:09Speaker 2: those guys who's going to go so hard, he's going
- 27:11Speaker 2: to have the shrapnel, like that Shamu splash zone. You're
- 27:15Speaker 2: going to get all of his sweat all over you.
- 27:17Speaker 2: It's disgusting, and I think you made the right call.
- 27:20Speaker 1: Thank you. Go ahead, Taylor.
- 27:22Speaker 3: Kyle, right now it feels like social media is divided
- 27:25Speaker 3: between Bears fans and everybody else because a lot of
- 27:28Speaker 3: people are saying, Caleb Williams, you can't do the whole
- 27:31Speaker 3: cart it off thing anymore. With the crying and the
- 27:34Speaker 3: thumbs up to the crowd for a grade one hamstring.
- 27:36Speaker 3: And Bears fans, in defense of their quarterback, saying, sorry
- 27:40Speaker 3: that he cares.
- 27:41Speaker 1: Yes, and I hate this because I have anointed him
- 27:42Speaker 1: as the greatest quarterback in NFL history. I have.
- 27:45Speaker 2: That was a fun six days ago. Listen, this thing
- 27:50Speaker 2: went from like, Oh my God, a football tragedy that
- 27:55Speaker 2: we lost this great talent to like 100 out of
- 27:58Speaker 2: 100 meme in a couple of hours. The second the
- 28:00Speaker 2: word got out that it might be like a hamstring pull, Like, every, like,
- 28:06Speaker 2: every dick who's been in high school football who's pulled
- 28:09Speaker 2: his hamstring is making a million. I'm seeing them all.
- 28:11Speaker 2: They're like, here's me when my legs fall asleep on
- 28:14Speaker 2: the toilet in the morning. And they're, like, waving as
- 28:16Speaker 2: they come up. Here's me when I step on a Lego.
- 28:19Speaker 2: All of that. I would just say this. I would
- 28:21Speaker 2: say the cart I understand is the franchise quarterback with
- 28:25Speaker 2: the lower body injury. And a year ago, if you
- 28:28Speaker 2: guys remember... Joe Burrow got hurt in the Bengals game
- 28:31Speaker 2: in the second week of the season. He had a
- 28:33Speaker 2: serious foot injury. Yep. And the dumbass Bengals made him
- 28:37Speaker 2: walk like 80 yards off the field, like with no support,
- 28:40Speaker 2: and everyone was killing him for not putting him on
- 28:42Speaker 2: the cart. The cart, I don't mind. The towel over
- 28:46Speaker 2: the head, I'm going to be all right, thumbs up
- 28:49Speaker 2: like someone on a spine board slash Kobe just ripped
- 28:52Speaker 2: his Achilles was a lot. Caleb, though, one of the
- 28:57Speaker 2: things that's very likable, an incredibly emotional guy, very emotional, up, down, everywhere,
- 29:02Speaker 2: crying at USC. We get it. I like that. So
- 29:06Speaker 2: I think that is him being himself. But the Paul
- 29:08Speaker 2: Pierce comparisons are just sitting there. And it's like they
- 29:12Speaker 2: almost like I saw the last report. It's like they're
- 29:15Speaker 2: not even declaring him out for week three. I think
- 29:18Speaker 2: they may have to just to save face. Yes. At
- 29:21Speaker 2: least give him one week out. Right, right. If you're
- 29:23Speaker 2: doing this on the cart, you cannot start week three. Yes.
- 29:27Speaker 1: Because then everyone's going to come out and say, why'd
- 29:30Speaker 1: you come out of the game in the first place, right?
- 29:32Speaker 2: I know. I know. You got to sit him.
- 29:34Speaker 1: You got to. Put it on the bowl, Taylor. Do
- 29:37Speaker 1: you have to, for Optic, do you have to sit
- 29:40Speaker 1: Kayla Williams at least a week? Just for Optic.
- 29:42Speaker 2: At least a week.
- 29:43Speaker 1: Yes. Who's the NFL team that has surprised you? I
- 29:46Speaker 1: know it's early. We're two weeks into this thing. But
- 29:49Speaker 1: what NFL team has surprised you the most thus far?
- 29:52Speaker 2: Right there. Same game. The Vikings. They're the coolest 2-0
- 29:54Speaker 2: in the league. There's some 2-0. And I think the
- 29:57Speaker 2: Raiders have a say in that, too. The Raiders are 2-0.
- 30:00Speaker 2: Some other cool teams are 2-0. But the Vikings, like
- 30:03Speaker 2: the whole plan for their coaching staff and their organization...
- 30:07Speaker 2: They're going to stage a quarterback competition in the preseason,
- 30:10Speaker 2: which was never a quarterback competition. They're going to go
- 30:13Speaker 2: with Kyler Murray, and this is going to be the
- 30:14Speaker 2: guy Kevin O'Connell can finally unlock his talent. 12 seconds
- 30:18Speaker 2: into the season, he's out. Like, the whole plan just goes.
- 30:22Speaker 2: And who do they turn to but a guy who's
- 30:24Speaker 2: been on nine different teams and wasn't even part of
- 30:27Speaker 2: the alleged quarterback competition? Like, this old war horse, Carson Wentz, like,
- 30:31Speaker 2: get in there and try not to embarrass us. 2-0,
- 30:34Speaker 2: best defense in the league through two weeks, most fired-up
- 30:37Speaker 2: coordinator in the league in two weeks. The guy's setting
- 30:40Speaker 2: the NFL on fire, Brian Flores, while actively fighting the NFL. Like,
- 30:44Speaker 2: it's rock and roll right now with Minnesota, what they're doing. Because...
- 30:48Speaker 2: Here's the shame about Minnesota. All any of us want
- 30:52Speaker 2: to talk about is Caleb's injury. Screw Caleb's injury. The
- 30:55Speaker 2: Bears had three points when he got injured. Right. Three.
- 30:58Speaker 1: Yes.
- 30:59Speaker 2: And if you would have told Brian Flores, you'll hold
- 31:01Speaker 2: Ben Johnson and the Bears to 17 points in this game.
- 31:04Speaker 2: Will you take it? Probably you would take it. Three
- 31:07Speaker 2: points is like a scarlet letter on Ben Johnson. He'll
- 31:10Speaker 2: go to his grave with that number. That's a terrible,
- 31:12Speaker 2: terrible number. And that's before the injury. So I think
- 31:14Speaker 2: it's the Vikings. Yeah.
- 31:16Speaker 4: On the other side, how disappointing are the Chargers? And
- 31:19Speaker 4: is it possible they could be 0-9? Because after losing
- 31:23Speaker 4: at home to the Cardinals and Raiders, they go to Buffalo,
- 31:27Speaker 4: to Seattle. They play the Broncos, the Chiefs, the Rams,
- 31:31Speaker 4: the Texans, and the Ravens.
- 31:33Speaker 1: Yeah, I hope so.
- 31:35Speaker 2: The Chargers right now, for me, they're the C word.
- 31:38Speaker 2: I can't utter it. I don't even want to talk
- 31:41Speaker 2: about them. I don't want to look at them. Because
- 31:43Speaker 2: every bleeping year, it's like, All right, here they come.
- 31:47Speaker 2: They got a cool quarterback and they got cool uniforms
- 31:50Speaker 2: and they got this player and that player. And it's just,
- 31:53Speaker 2: it's nothing. And it's almost like the league was like,
- 31:56Speaker 2: all right, let's step in here. Let's give them two
- 31:59Speaker 2: of the stupidest, easiest games you could possibly give a
- 32:03Speaker 2: team to start the season. Let's give both of them
- 32:05Speaker 2: at home where they have no home field advantage. We'll
- 32:08Speaker 2: just spoon feed the Chargers so they can be something amazing.
- 32:11Speaker 2: before they play real-life, regular, big, grown-up football. Let's get
- 32:14Speaker 2: them to 2-0. They lost both games. They lost both
- 32:17Speaker 2: games by multiple scores. They didn't compete. And now it's
- 32:21Speaker 2: like there's a real fascinating thing with Herbert because every,
- 32:24Speaker 2: and I say this affectionately, like every football egghead dork,
- 32:27Speaker 2: and I love you people, They love Herbert and they
- 32:30Speaker 2: will go to war for Herbert. And it's like we're
- 32:32Speaker 2: running out of real estate with which to defend him
- 32:34Speaker 2: because it's like you got to support him better. Shut
- 32:36Speaker 2: up with that. They drafted both tackles in the first round.
- 32:39Speaker 2: They drafted wide receivers. They brought in running backs. They
- 32:42Speaker 2: brought in tight ends. They brought in allegedly the best
- 32:44Speaker 2: coach in the world. They brought in allegedly the smartest
- 32:47Speaker 2: offensive coordinator in the world. And they suck. And he
- 32:49Speaker 2: has never looked worse. And this guy, Justin Herbert, I
- 32:54Speaker 2: think he has the greatest life of all time. He's 6'6, gorgeous, strong,
- 32:58Speaker 2: right arm, tons of money, engaged to this pop star.
- 33:02Speaker 2: Her name is literally beer. And he's got everything going
- 33:06Speaker 2: for him, except he cannot move the chains on third
- 33:09Speaker 2: down or second down or first down or any down.
- 33:12Speaker 2: The only thing wrong with the life of this professional
- 33:14Speaker 2: football player is that the football sucks right now. So
- 33:18Speaker 2: the Chargers are pissing me off.
- 33:19Speaker 1: How do you think Deshaun Watson is going to be
- 33:21Speaker 1: received when he gets back to Cleveland?
- 33:24Speaker 2: I'm so mad that the Browns won. I'm so annoyed
- 33:27Speaker 2: that the stupid Buccaneers lost because I wanted this. I
- 33:30Speaker 2: really wanted to see if they had the balls to
- 33:33Speaker 2: go at 0-2 with Watson playing poorly and say, nope,
- 33:37Speaker 2: start him for the home opener because that place would
- 33:40Speaker 2: have been Thunderdome. Lord of the Flies. I think there
- 33:43Speaker 2: would have been security issues. Yep. I think it would
- 33:45Speaker 2: have been like Lane Kiffin over the weekend with all
- 33:47Speaker 2: those mounted officers on horses. But now it's like, well,
- 33:51Speaker 2: he did just win and he beat Baker and like
- 33:54Speaker 2: he made some good throws. It's now really anticlimactic. I
- 33:57Speaker 2: think they may boo him or something, but it'll be pedestrian.
- 34:00Speaker 2: That won't be much. I don't even blame the Browns anymore.
- 34:04Speaker 2: I blame the stupid Buccaneers for losing who are, by
- 34:06Speaker 2: the way, 0-2. Right.
- 34:07Speaker 3: Kyle, what did you think of Shane Steichen's decision to
- 34:10Speaker 3: give the ball back to Patrick Mahomes on Sunday Night Football?
- 34:12Speaker 2: Terrible.
- 34:13Speaker 1: Just terrible.
- 34:13Speaker 3: It seemed like he was just playing for the tie.
- 34:15Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, the people I was on TV with
- 34:17Speaker 2: this morning, they're like, no, that was the right move
- 34:20Speaker 2: and the distance and the timing. I like Shane Steichen
- 34:23Speaker 2: a lot. I've met him before. He's a guy that
- 34:26Speaker 2: you guys would like. He's a regular guy. He curses
- 34:29Speaker 2: a lot. He talks like a normal person. He's a
- 34:31Speaker 2: sports fan. I would have liked to see– the only
- 34:34Speaker 2: way to be the Chiefs is you've got to snap
- 34:35Speaker 2: the neck. Like, if you let them hang around, they'll
- 34:38Speaker 2: always beat you. Go for it on fourth. Go for
- 34:41Speaker 2: it when you're not supposed to. They didn't. I thought
- 34:43Speaker 2: it was an odd decision. But thankfully, everybody watched the
- 34:45Speaker 2: Jets game, so they're talking about those terrible decisions and
- 34:48Speaker 2: not the Colts. That's taking some of the steam away.
- 34:50Speaker 1: How bad is Aaron Glenn? I mean, it's just– we
- 34:53Speaker 1: were so close to being 2-0. I wanted to be 2-0.
- 34:57Speaker 1: And I have people telling me, hey, at least they're
- 34:59Speaker 1: not embarrassing you.
- 35:00Speaker 2: You know what?
- 35:01Speaker 1: I don't care. Like, when you have a 17-7 lead,
- 35:05Speaker 1: prove to me that you're a different team and a
- 35:06Speaker 1: different organization by putting that game away at home. And
- 35:09Speaker 1: they couldn't do it.
- 35:10Speaker 2: 1-0 doesn't mean much. The weak one is weird. I
- 35:13Speaker 2: always say weak one's a lie. 2-0 is legitimate football.
- 35:16Speaker 2: We won two games in a row. And by the way,
- 35:20Speaker 2: we're going to see it tonight, right? Like, the Giants
- 35:22Speaker 2: are going to the Rams. And it's like, if the
- 35:24Speaker 2: Giants somehow win that game... And between you guys, my
- 35:28Speaker 2: hair won't get blown back at all if they do
- 35:30Speaker 2: win that game against the Rams. Then they come back
- 35:32Speaker 2: across the country and they land on the tarmac. We
- 35:35Speaker 2: are 2-0, not some dumb week one win where this
- 35:38Speaker 2: team won. 2-0 is like 6-0 compared to 1-0. And
- 35:42Speaker 2: it's ridiculous that the Jets did not get there.
- 35:44Speaker 1: Mendoza is not going to see the field. I mean,
- 35:46Speaker 1: the more they keep winning, he's not going to see
- 35:48Speaker 1: the field. Maybe the entire season.
- 35:50Speaker 2: You think? You know, I think that they wanted to
- 35:54Speaker 2: actually win some games. They weren't like, I don't, you know,
- 35:57Speaker 2: we're supposed to start the guy, let him learn on
- 35:59Speaker 2: the fly, do all that thing. I just think they're like,
- 36:01Speaker 2: I think they wanted to say like, we never win.
- 36:03Speaker 2: We're the Raiders. We always suck. We always get fired.
- 36:06Speaker 2: Let's go with the experienced guy and maybe we can
- 36:09Speaker 2: get out of the gates two and two and like
- 36:11Speaker 2: actually change how things feel around here. And you saw
- 36:15Speaker 2: at the end of the game, not only did they win,
- 36:17Speaker 2: they got the like macho man, savage elbow drop, screw
- 36:21Speaker 2: you safety on the chargers with a holding penalty in
- 36:25Speaker 2: the end zone, which is one of the most undignified
- 36:27Speaker 2: looks on offense could have. I thought the Raiders felt
- 36:29Speaker 2: different yesterday and it's because they started their best quarterback,
- 36:33Speaker 2: not their future.
- 36:34Speaker 1: Win or lose is Carolina. The most entertaining team in football.
- 36:38Speaker 2: God, that week one game of Chicago was must watch.
- 36:42Speaker 2: It was so fun. And you're like, What gets lost
- 36:44Speaker 2: in it, again, like I'm saying about the Vikings, is
- 36:46Speaker 2: that how good the Panthers' offense was in week one.
- 36:49Speaker 1: So good.
- 36:50Speaker 2: There's something amusing about watching Bryce Young, too, because he
- 36:54Speaker 2: does look kind of like a child out there, just physically.
- 36:57Speaker 2: He's so small and he's so skinny. And yet he
- 37:00Speaker 2: is chucking it all over and they are scoring. So
- 37:03Speaker 2: I understand why Josh Allen does what he does or Lamar.
- 37:06Speaker 2: Like they're just, they're these superheroes. But watching Bryce Young,
- 37:10Speaker 2: it feels like a kid got down on the field,
- 37:12Speaker 2: but the kid you look up, he's got 380 yards.
- 37:14Speaker 2: So I love watching the Panthers. And I think Canales
- 37:16Speaker 2: is like a real viable coach for years to come.
- 37:20Speaker 2: I believe in them.
- 37:20Speaker 1: All right, we'll get you out of here. Again, his book,
- 37:23Speaker 1: Do You? How to Bet on Yourself by Being Yourself.
- 37:26Speaker 1: It's out January 5th, available for pre-order now. I love
- 37:29Speaker 1: the title of the book. Welcome to the Authors Club,
- 37:31Speaker 1: by the way. I mean, congratulations, you and I.
- 37:34Speaker 2: What's your advice, Dugatz? I don't want to be, you know,
- 37:36Speaker 2: obnoxious book whore for the next four months on every
- 37:39Speaker 2: pod and every show because people will deliberately not buy
- 37:42Speaker 2: the book out of spite because they're sick of hearing
- 37:44Speaker 2: from me. What should I do?
- 37:45Speaker 1: Be a book whore.
- 37:50Speaker 2: Buy it.
- 37:50Speaker 1: Buy it. Buy it. Pre-orders.
- 37:53Speaker 3: Pre-orders.
- 37:53Speaker 2: They tell me they're very important.
- 37:55Speaker 1: They are. They're very important. Listen, you have all these
- 37:57Speaker 1: platforms now. Just promote it. Bring that book everywhere you go.
- 38:01Speaker 1: Get up anywhere you go. Just bring it.
- 38:02Speaker 2: All right? I will do it. I'm glad to be
- 38:05Speaker 2: on your show. Of course, I go way, way back
- 38:08Speaker 2: with the iconic Jason J. Stewart, who is like the
- 38:12Speaker 2: hardest working man in radio. Just ask him. And I
- 38:15Speaker 2: know he'll be buying the book, but the audio book.
- 38:17Speaker 2: And thank you, guys.
- 38:18Speaker 1: He actually told me he's waiting for you to send
- 38:20Speaker 1: him a free one.
- 38:21Speaker 2: I know he is. I know. Pony up, Jason.
- 38:25Speaker 1: We'll buy books, okay, for the whole crew. Kyle, thank
- 38:28Speaker 1: you for doing this, man. Good morning, football. Check him
- 38:30Speaker 1: out there as well. We appreciate it as always, man.
- 38:33Speaker 1: It's good to see you.
- 38:33Speaker 2: I'll see you guys at Playland. Take it easy.
- 38:35Speaker 1: Oh, I forgot to ask you about it. Rye Playland.
- 38:37Speaker 2: Next time.
- 38:39Speaker 1: Next time. An entire interview on the rides at Rye Playland, okay?
