- 0:01[SPEAKER_00]: I love your Cleveland, and I love you Ohio, and a very pleasant welcome!
- 0:06[SPEAKER_00]: this week's Thursday version of Big Play Cleveland show here on YouTube and it's great to have you with us.
- 0:14[SPEAKER_00]: I'm frustrated along with that Fontana and Ryan Tyler and we've got so much to cover.
- 0:19[SPEAKER_00]: A lot and lots and lots of baseball today.
- 0:23[SPEAKER_00]: Fellows, we got to start with the Guardians.
- 0:26[SPEAKER_00]: We'll get into all those trades.
- 0:29[SPEAKER_00]: But boy, a heartbreaking loss to the New York
- 0:35[SPEAKER_00]: last night, but this had now, uh, hooray.
- 0:40[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I mean, that's when you make history with the four hits and uh, I just saw confidence in him, like even that last at bat where you're kind of hoping like man could he walked this off and he put a charge into that one to deep center.
- 0:56[SPEAKER_03]: gave it a ride, gave it a try.
- 0:57[SPEAKER_03]: But, you know, Bruce, that's the thing.
- 0:59[SPEAKER_03]: That loss, I, I had some people that were even taxed to me, buddies.
- 1:03[SPEAKER_03]: They were like, I don't like Kate hasn't pitched in a couple of days and like low and behold came out, just didn't quite have it.
- 1:08[SPEAKER_03]: Like, okay, I know Roki about the air.
- 1:11[SPEAKER_03]: That doesn't help.
- 1:12[SPEAKER_03]: That was going to be a tough wall anyway.
- 1:14[SPEAKER_03]: What's it?
- 1:14[SPEAKER_03]: Walk so kill you.
- 1:15[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, that's your two.
- 1:16[SPEAKER_03]: Right.
- 1:16[SPEAKER_03]: You can't walk people as a closer back into the bullpen type area.
- 1:20[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, again, they showed the fight.
- 1:21[SPEAKER_03]: I think more than anything.
- 1:24[SPEAKER_03]: What I wanted out of this trade deadline, which I know we're going to talk a lot about it today, which I'm excited about, number one, you plugged some holes.
- 1:32[SPEAKER_03]: How well did you plug them?
- 1:33[SPEAKER_03]: We'll find out, but you plug some holes.
- 1:36[SPEAKER_03]: I was most impressed that they did not give up a lot.
- 1:39[SPEAKER_03]: to do this.
- 1:40[SPEAKER_03]: You gave up in one twenty top twenty five prospect.
- 1:43[SPEAKER_00]: I thought or you're anticipating my thought.
- 1:45[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, exactly.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_00]: The catcher they're high on, but we're loaded with catchers and ingles is there in the waiting.
- 1:53[SPEAKER_00]: You got two of the best defensive catchers with the big league club right now that pitcher is supposed to be a potential star.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_02]: But he's three, four years away.
- 2:01[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, and the other thing is with the you mentioned the catchers and I joked when I sent this on social media brews this trade down line was brought to you by Patrick Bailey if Patrick Bailey hadn't been doing what he did when he came here from San Francisco You wouldn't feel about moving cozo and that's thing they didn't even move angle I swear I'm like angles up next you know you thought that so for a lot of people thought no that's true dude would go but and by the way this kid last night
- 2:29[SPEAKER_00]: is just the 22nd player in the history of baseball.
- 2:35[SPEAKER_00]: Get this.
- 2:36[SPEAKER_00]: Only the 22nd player in the history of the game with four or more hits in his major league debut.
- 2:45[SPEAKER_00]: And that's the second time that's happened this season by the way, Magonical did it, Magonical, yeah, at the beginning of the year.
- 2:52[SPEAKER_00]: But the bottom line to last night's game again was the lack of clutch hitting.
- 2:57[SPEAKER_00]: Four for 19 with runners in scoring position.
- 3:01[SPEAKER_00]: We left 15 guys on base.
- 3:07[SPEAKER_00]: And only three of the six runs for the match were earned.
- 3:13[SPEAKER_00]: Um, we're hitting 232, uh, and that's what, um, uh, close to like 25th or 6th in the Major's New York, the Yankees.
- 3:24[SPEAKER_00]: are only hitting 231, Cincinnati is at 230, ball the more on San Diego with 235, hitting is down in the major leagues, but there's such a thing as timely hitting 2, and we're just not getting the clutch timely hit.
- 3:41[SPEAKER_00]: The most important hit in baseball is the two
- 3:47[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, a bunching with Kwan.
- 3:49[SPEAKER_03]: I know a lot of people were talking about that of guys hitting 400 for the last month and you But I get that the go ahead Ryan.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_03]: I know you're see.
- 3:57[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I get it.
- 3:58[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, like that that's been my whole point is when you lack you can lack hitting and then you have a guy like Stephen Kwan who's hitting like you said in this last stretch 350 plus
- 4:09[SPEAKER_02]: And you've bought him over and you saw just before it got like boba shut hit him over or record the run like right I get it you play small ball it's your brand of baseball but in that moment that just stacked up on all the airs they had on that game to throw that button on top there that you just give away a free out that can't have no and I get that the book probably told you to do that but here's my thing on that bruise vote wasn't there and I don't know if he would have made any difference and I'm not trying to rip on
- 4:38[SPEAKER_03]: We got to remember, Vogue got tossed and maybe that would have gone different if he was there.
- 4:43[SPEAKER_03]: I have no idea.
- 4:44[SPEAKER_03]: Again, the book, the stats probably tell you to bump in that situation.
- 4:49[SPEAKER_03]: You don't expect that from Quon who knows how to get bounced down.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_03]: So here we are, but you know, back to Henao Bruce, I think the biggest thing with these trades and then him, it's some life.
- 4:59[SPEAKER_03]: It's some juice.
- 5:00[SPEAKER_03]: Now a lot of energy.
- 5:01[SPEAKER_03]: You know, that's the part of how you need to win that game because you're high right now.
- 5:04[SPEAKER_03]: You're motivated.
- 5:05[SPEAKER_03]: You feel good.
- 5:06[SPEAKER_00]: kids energy has to speak through an interpreter, but you can just tell that effervescent personality.
- 5:13[SPEAKER_00]: The guardians are tied for 19th and fielding with a 984 fielding average.
- 5:20[SPEAKER_00]: We are 20th in committing errors, 64.
- 5:26[SPEAKER_00]: Arizona the Cubs, the L.A. Dodgers are tied for 1st with 44 and a 989.
- 5:32[SPEAKER_00]: fielding percentage.
- 5:34[SPEAKER_00]: Going into Friday, this past Friday, we worked 29th in run scored 27th in home runs and 28th in batting average.
- 5:49[SPEAKER_00]: Now in fairness,
- 5:56[SPEAKER_00]: I'm exactly with Matt on this.
- 5:58[SPEAKER_00]: I am very pleased in what they did.
- 6:01[SPEAKER_00]: Whether it'll turn out or not, we don't know.
- 6:04[SPEAKER_00]: That time will tell.
- 6:06[SPEAKER_00]: But they addressed the needs as far as bats.
- 6:11[SPEAKER_00]: With Nathaniel Low, you bring in a guy who certainly has power numbers behind him versus right-handers, 286 batting average 12 homers.
- 6:23[SPEAKER_00]: It's going to be a free agent in 27.
- 6:26[SPEAKER_00]: He'll rotate with Hoskins for now, low being a left hand and hit her in Hoskins, the right hand and hit her.
- 6:32[SPEAKER_00]: And Adele is another guy who we address with power.
- 6:37[SPEAKER_00]: You know, so they did address, I'll get to Griffin in a minute, because he's pitching today.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_00]: But addressing the bets as we needed to do, but you know what guys?
- 6:50[SPEAKER_00]: Here's the sad thing of all of this.
- 6:53[SPEAKER_00]: I like what they did, but it doesn't mean nothing at all if my remarries is not healthy.
- 7:00[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, and that's again, another conversation watching that game last night where you got some nice hits, but you just you imagine Jose in the middle of that lineup right even when he's pinch ran in extra innings and if that hit from Odell was somehow fair wasn't all that close, there's a couple of feet foul, but if it's fair, Jose was scoring like you saw in the end round and third he was going.
- 7:23[SPEAKER_03]: but that's you miss that part of it too you miss him just being out there you miss the middle of the lineup and we've talked about this bruise for how many years now guys around Jose that the pitching staff can't pitch around him anymore and there's a little protection for him you'd like to feel that with the water if Kwan can stay high make no mistake as down as I was on Steven Kwan I am so happy to eat the crow medium rare please right
- 7:51[SPEAKER_03]: up, I'll eat it all day because I'm I'm glad he's here.
- 7:54[SPEAKER_03]: He's best at the leadoff spot and I know a lot of people so we've got fat because he was batting 9th and then I'm not a pressure off of Bazana and we're still let's face it still rookie.
- 8:03[SPEAKER_03]: Yes, move them down in the morning.
- 8:05[SPEAKER_03]: Yes, 1,000 percent.
- 8:06[SPEAKER_03]: Your best lineup is now with Kwan leading off.
- 8:10[SPEAKER_03]: There's a world you bat, who's a second and you let Adele go third and you let
- 8:19[SPEAKER_03]: And they'll mess around with the pitching or you know depending on who the pitchers are that you're facing But it's just a little more protection for Jose now we're all on pins and needles because it was his Surgery repaired hand and you don't want to reoccurrence that and take it slow.
- 8:32[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, that's but you know That's the problem.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, these are I don't want to say must win games Bruce, but they're pretty damn close
- 8:40[SPEAKER_00]: Well, they're coming serious with the white socks.
- 8:41[SPEAKER_00]: It's going to pass.
- 8:42[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously.
- 8:43[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, outside of Chicago.
- 8:45[SPEAKER_00]: Low spest year was actually 2022 in 157 games.
- 8:47[SPEAKER_00]: He hit 302 With 27 home runs and 76 RBIs now that's
- 8:57[SPEAKER_00]: 157 games, pretty good numbers.
- 9:00[SPEAKER_00]: So he's been a streaky power hitter in his career to be fair.
- 9:06[SPEAKER_00]: But let's get back, they didn't give up much in these trades.
- 9:11[SPEAKER_00]: Right, obviously they pick up this outfield or Blake Perkins.
- 9:18[SPEAKER_00]: This was the deal.
- 9:19[SPEAKER_00]: Milwaukee gets bowed nailer.
- 9:21[SPEAKER_00]: We didn't even mention nailer.
- 9:22[SPEAKER_00]: No, yeah, the other catcher.
- 9:23[SPEAKER_00]: And the other catcher.
- 9:24[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, right, right.
- 9:27[SPEAKER_00]: So that's no loss at all and we get this yo-ho in the picture, but our outfielders ranked 25th in batting average at 234, 25th in on-base percentage, and only 305, 30th in slugging percentage, 357, and 30th in home runs.
- 9:47[SPEAKER_00]: Now Perkins is a switch-inner, he's 29 years old, he's better from the right side.
- 9:53[SPEAKER_00]: versus right-handed pitching 2-0 weight batting average versus left 249 on base percentage versus right is 298 versus left these 321.
- 10:04[SPEAKER_00]: A slugging percentage versus right is 304 left these 372.
- 10:09[SPEAKER_00]: Now the Adele trade from LA is where we gave up the catcher Cosa and Cleveland designated in field are Juan Brito for assignment.
- 10:18[SPEAKER_00]: Did somebody pick him up somebody pick him up?
- 10:19[SPEAKER_03]: They threw him in on a separate deal with the reds for cash consideration.
- 10:24[SPEAKER_03]: So it was the the Joe a Dell move was straight up for Cose art, but like five minutes later, they traded them burrito for cash.
- 10:32[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 10:32[SPEAKER_00]: Burrito was promising because he hit in the minor leagues, but he also got hurt a lot.
- 10:37[SPEAKER_00]: And he had a cup of coffee up here with us, but it didn't work out.
- 10:43[SPEAKER_00]: The co-sarc was Cleveland's second round pick back in 2024.
- 10:47[SPEAKER_00]: He's only 23 years old.
- 10:50[SPEAKER_00]: But again, we're so loaded with catchers that he was expendable.
- 10:54[SPEAKER_00]: But I really like what they did without having to give up much.
- 10:58[SPEAKER_00]: Now let's get to the real ace in the hole, if you will.
- 11:02[SPEAKER_00]: And that's foster Griffin.
- 11:04[SPEAKER_00]: Um, we get the starting picture from Washington.
- 11:06[SPEAKER_00]: Here's the story on him.
- 11:09[SPEAKER_00]: He was drafted by the Kansas City Royals.
- 11:13[SPEAKER_00]: in 2014 he was a first round pick by Kansas City and through 23 25 he's he's gone to a Japan he went to Japan and he played for the Tokyo the Giants and he's a free agent next year but
- 11:34[SPEAKER_00]: He comes, he signs with the Washington Nationals before this season, and he made the all-star team.
- 11:42[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, he's a star in pitcher.
- 11:44[SPEAKER_00]: In his arsenal, he's not a flame thrower, but he's a lefty.
- 11:49[SPEAKER_00]: In his arsenal, he possesses seven different pitches, which tells you when he's got control of that breaking stuff, his fastball appears faster to major league hunters because of the control.
- 12:03[SPEAKER_00]: examples from the right side, Bieber, and before him, clover, they weren't flying throwers, but because they're breaking pitches, they had such great control when they threw a 93 mile an hour fastball.
- 12:17[SPEAKER_00]: It seemed like 98.
- 12:19[SPEAKER_00]: So I think this is a real coup.
- 12:21[SPEAKER_00]: They moved to Coney to the bullpen.
- 12:24[SPEAKER_00]: They insert Griffin in the starting rotation.
- 12:27[SPEAKER_00]: And now it's even more formidable than it was.
- 12:29[SPEAKER_00]: It was pretty darn good before.
- 12:31[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, with Foster Griffin, I think the first thing I thought it was again the stats he was in all star this year, so okay fine, he's on a $5.5 million deal, you're paying what probably half of that.
- 12:40[SPEAKER_03]: But he is a free agent.
- 12:41[SPEAKER_03]: I thought about some other names, though.
- 12:44[SPEAKER_03]: Scott Kazmeer and Matthew Boyd.
- 12:46[SPEAKER_03]: And it's not just because they're all lefties, it was guys that resurrected their career in Cleveland.
- 12:52[SPEAKER_03]: And Boyd would often sign, you know, their deal, Kazmeer left and went and got another deal somewhere else.
- 12:57[SPEAKER_03]: And obviously, foster Griffin's put in the work.
- 12:59[SPEAKER_03]: It's not like he was with the guardians all year and went 12 and three with a three something he are.
- 13:02[SPEAKER_03]: Like he was in all start in Washington.
- 13:05[SPEAKER_03]: But I think that's something interesting after this season.
- 13:08[SPEAKER_03]: We'll see how the rest of the season goes with them.
- 13:10[SPEAKER_03]: But for the Guardians, to down below, hey man, you know, you're back.
- 13:13[SPEAKER_03]: Like let us sign you to a deal and keep you around here with this pitching factory that we have going on here.
- 13:20[SPEAKER_03]: Now, conventional wisdom would probably tell you what.
- 13:22[SPEAKER_03]: He's 31 years old.
- 13:24[SPEAKER_03]: He's going to want to go get a longer-term deal and more money and leave.
- 13:28[SPEAKER_03]: But there's comparisons to some of these other guys.
- 13:32[SPEAKER_03]: You know, in the thing about Griffin now,
- 13:34[SPEAKER_03]: He is 100% a playoff starter for you.
- 13:37[SPEAKER_03]: No, sorry.
- 13:38[SPEAKER_03]: When you only need three, you know it's Messic, you know it's Gavin Williams, and now you throw Foster Griffin.
- 13:44[SPEAKER_03]: Now we'll see with Bidie.
- 13:45[SPEAKER_03]: You know, I was just gonna say Matt.
- 13:47[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 13:48[SPEAKER_00]: Bidie gave up the long ball last night, but he had 10 scrits.
- 13:52[SPEAKER_00]: He's been a tough luck pitcher.
- 13:54[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, they have not supported him well at him.
- 13:57[SPEAKER_03]: He keeps getting clubered.
- 13:59[SPEAKER_03]: He keeps you in clover where he's like, oh, give up two runs like, well, that's two to me.
- 14:03[SPEAKER_03]: He's sorry about it.
- 14:04[SPEAKER_03]: Like, keep keeps getting clovered out there and, you know, can you turn to him?
- 14:09[SPEAKER_03]: Sure, and play off series.
- 14:10[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 14:11[SPEAKER_03]: Is Parker Messick a rookie pitching more innings than he's ever thrown in his career?
- 14:15[SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
- 14:16[SPEAKER_03]: I fully understand that.
- 14:17[SPEAKER_03]: But it's at least options.
- 14:18[SPEAKER_03]: And I just think about how.
- 14:21[SPEAKER_03]: that could be having two lefties that you have to face in a playoff series and how that might play like I'm getting I'm putting the carp for the horse because I get it was just screaming we're going to make the playoffs first again let's get there but you know I love it and again at the end of the day breedow aside because he was high Bruce they made all these trades Josh Hartle was their highest prospect and he was 25th you made all these moves and you gave up one top 25 prospect like that's well done.
- 14:48[SPEAKER_00]: Right and in the white socks have a three-game lead now we're one game below 500, which is not not good But then again take a look at the A.L.
- 14:56[SPEAKER_00]: West Houston's leading at 59.
- 14:58[SPEAKER_00]: 57.
- 14:58[SPEAKER_00]: What would we say about Houston?
- 15:00[SPEAKER_00]: Bruce you said it all along I said it all season long in about Tampa and
- 15:05[SPEAKER_00]: And Tampa 2, Texas is a game in a half behind Houston and Seattle 2 and a half behind.
- 15:12[SPEAKER_00]: So I mean, the fact that the Central Division has teams below the 500 marked that are still in the wild card hunt.
- 15:19[SPEAKER_00]: And as far as the wild card is concerned, we're exactly tied with Texas at 57 and 58 for the third and final wild card spot, the Yankees and Boston possess the first two spots.
- 15:33[SPEAKER_00]: ball the more only half a game behind us in Texas, Seattle's a game back as well as Minnesota Detroit really still very much in it considering they traded school who lost his debut with the Dodgers by the way, we'll get to that later and then Toronto three games out.
- 15:50[SPEAKER_00]: So we're very much alive and in it.
- 15:54[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm curious to hear what Kate has to say, Matt, because he's going to be coming up in our next segment.
- 15:59[SPEAKER_00]: Our beat reporter who covers the Guardians for us here on the Big Play Sports Network.
- 16:04[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, exciting stuff with the guards, Kate's coming up.
- 16:06[SPEAKER_03]: We'll get to that.
- 16:06[SPEAKER_03]: We'll touch in some Browns.
- 16:07[SPEAKER_03]: I was out of camp yesterday, so I gave Ryan some bad news on the quarterback side of things.
- 16:13[SPEAKER_03]: So it gets all that coming up, but I was out at Camp, you know, who else was there yesterday?
- 16:17[SPEAKER_03]: Physicians ambulance because they are the choice of the Cleveland Browns, or the choice of so many of our great companies here in Northeastern Ohio.
- 16:26[SPEAKER_03]: And a physician's ambulance excellence is not just a buzzword.
- 16:29[SPEAKER_03]: It's what they deliver every single day.
- 16:32[SPEAKER_03]: Trust me.
- 16:33[SPEAKER_03]: You think big billion dollar companies are just going with anybody they can find?
- 16:38[SPEAKER_03]: No, no, no, no, they are choosing the best.
- 16:41[SPEAKER_03]: They are choosing excellence and that is why physicians ambulance is the choice of so many businesses here in Northeastern, so many high schools.
- 16:49[SPEAKER_03]: Friday.
- 16:50[SPEAKER_03]: I'm not wishing the summer away.
- 16:51[SPEAKER_03]: We're going to be in that crisp Friday night for some Friday night football big Thursday night soccer high school matchups Visitions and ambulance will be out at so many of them around our great area and they're hiring They're looking for people EMTs paramedics to join the excellent team at physician's aim.
- 17:09[SPEAKER_03]: I'm not even kidding I was at Brown say I'm driving home my brother in my son
- 17:12[SPEAKER_03]: We're behind a physician's aim is they weren't even coming from Maria, they were somewhere else.
- 17:16[SPEAKER_03]: They're all over our great area and they're hiring, they're looking for you.
- 17:20[SPEAKER_03]: And being part of all over the area, they're close to you.
- 17:22[SPEAKER_03]: Headquartered in Braxville, satellites, north-regional menor, Kent, Warren, Ashland, Worcester, and Columbus.
- 17:28[SPEAKER_03]: You can scan that QR code there if you're interested as an EMT or a paramedic.
- 17:33[SPEAKER_03]: full-time or part-time they got you applied today and help him continue to set the standard physicians ambulance dot com will get more in depth on the guardians moves where they stand Kcrack is going to join us next right here on big place stay with us
- 17:47[SPEAKER_00]: All right, we're back.
- 17:47[SPEAKER_00]: Good to have you with us here on this Thursday live on YouTube here with a big play show, a big play Cleveland show.
- 17:54[SPEAKER_00]: Kate Crocus, our Beat reporter covering the guardians is joining us now.
- 18:00[SPEAKER_00]: We had said in the first segment, Kade, we want to get your take.
- 18:03[SPEAKER_00]: Matt and I are in total agreement that we're happy with what the front office did whether it turns out or not,
- 18:10[SPEAKER_00]: remains to be seen on the last were happy with what they did certainly the addition of Griffin is a real plus but the biggest plus as far as Matt and I see it we didn't give up that much including a now boy did he make his presence no last night.
- 18:27[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, no doubt about it, Bruce.
- 18:28[SPEAKER_01]: I think you look at the way that the Guardians approach the deadline.
- 18:31[SPEAKER_01]: It was slow but methodical.
- 18:32[SPEAKER_01]: They were waiting to see what other teams randomly were going to do.
- 18:35[SPEAKER_01]: They were going to match some of the moves that were made in the American League Central, and then try to push themselves ahead.
- 18:40[SPEAKER_01]: And so while we saw that Craig Yoha move on Saturday, nothing on Sunday, and then nothing Monday morning, kind of put a bit of a sour taste, everyone's mouth, I know.
- 18:48[SPEAKER_01]: Matt, you were kind of like, are they going to make a move here?
- 18:50[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 18:50[SPEAKER_01]: And I didn't think so either.
- 18:52[SPEAKER_01]: And then we got the news about Joe Adele.
- 18:54[SPEAKER_01]: And that was kind of a, oh, wow, there might be something here.
- 18:57[SPEAKER_01]: And even though they made the move for Joe Adel and Craig Yoho, I was like, okay, this is fine.
- 19:02[SPEAKER_01]: But I'd like you to tell something more than they go out and get faster Griffin and then they also add in a thing a little at the end and you're right.
- 19:07[SPEAKER_01]: And then they come in to yesterday and call up on Hell on Owl.
- 19:11[SPEAKER_01]: So Cleveland approached this deadline perfectly.
- 19:13[SPEAKER_01]: And I think they've set themselves up nicely.
- 19:15[SPEAKER_01]: The only issue is,
- 19:16[SPEAKER_01]: Or the results, guys, back to back losses.
- 19:19[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I met, I, I pointed out before you joined this cave.
- 19:25[SPEAKER_00]: The errors have got to stop.
- 19:26[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 19:27[SPEAKER_00]: We're just committing way too many errors.
- 19:28[SPEAKER_00]: And that cost us less than that.
- 19:29[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I did.
- 19:30[SPEAKER_03]: And I think to the trades cave, like I was actually.
- 19:34[SPEAKER_03]: I'm what you know we talked about it.
- 19:35[SPEAKER_03]: I'm super happy about what they didn't have to give up.
- 19:37[SPEAKER_03]: I'm shocked that those teams took those deals.
- 19:40[SPEAKER_03]: Like, and I get that the reds are in a maybe a different spot right now.
- 19:44[SPEAKER_03]: The nationals are not very good.
- 19:46[SPEAKER_03]: Like, you picked up from some bottom feeders.
- 19:48[SPEAKER_03]: Foster Griffin shirt.
- 19:49[SPEAKER_03]: He's going to be for age next year.
- 19:52[SPEAKER_03]: You pick up the best that you can.
- 19:54[SPEAKER_03]: But low in a Dell,
- 19:57[SPEAKER_03]: again like I don't I I'm floored that the reds didn't ask for more that was probably my presidency maybe they did and I guess when that clock's ticking down because those weren't deals done last week there were the day off couple hours to go were waiting until four o'clock to see or six o'clock whatever the deadline was but I think that was probably my biggest thing kid was I
- 20:19[SPEAKER_03]: I believe the guardians were going to make a push.
- 20:21[SPEAKER_03]: I just didn't think there would actually be anybody willing to take these deals and I guess thanks to Cincinnati for that.
- 20:28[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's funny because you do look at it like I kind of summarized in a tweet after of like who the guardians got in and who they had to send out and you go through like the out and it's a lot of young guys.
- 20:37[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 20:38[SPEAKER_01]: some of them may be the the 19 to 20 to 21 years old and that to me is a situation where it's kind of hard to tell the value of that because there's still three, four, five years away from even remotely getting major league consideration.
- 20:49[SPEAKER_01]: Like Jacob Cozart was one that kind of struck me a little bit because I've been big on Cozart.
- 20:53[SPEAKER_01]: I think he's a really good catcher.
- 20:54[SPEAKER_01]: I think he's got a chance to continue to grow.
- 20:56[SPEAKER_01]: He's in double A.
- 20:57[SPEAKER_01]: But you're totally right though.
- 20:58[SPEAKER_01]: Like I thought there was going to have to be maybe a colluel Watson.
- 21:01[SPEAKER_01]: or a pedi-help in, or maybe a one-brain, obviously he was de-a-fade, or someone of the line that would be able to contribute the next two, three years to one of these squads, and you didn't have to, which was interesting.
- 21:12[SPEAKER_01]: And so you're totally right in the sense of like the give-to-get ratio was incredibly favorable for Cleveland.
- 21:19[SPEAKER_01]: So even if these guys don't work out,
- 21:22[SPEAKER_01]: you didn't really lose much in the process.
- 21:24[SPEAKER_01]: It's a good test and it's a good chance to to keep the Cleveland Guardians competitive at this point in the year.
- 21:28[SPEAKER_00]: You know, another guy we haven't, we didn't mention in the first segment, Matt, as it were Ralphie Velesquez.
- 21:33[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 21:33[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's maybe the, you know, we're talking about how now, but Velesquez may turn out to be the best of all these young players.
- 21:39[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, 100% he's been incredible this year and I'll though he's having some issues chasing the ball right now at Triple A.
- 21:45[SPEAKER_01]: You look at what Velasca's was kind of garnering at least praise wise.
- 21:49[SPEAKER_01]: He was widely considered one of the top prospects in baseball that could be moved going into the deadline.
- 21:54[SPEAKER_01]: Him in and now.
- 21:55[SPEAKER_01]: And while it probably wasn't realistic to think that the Guardians would trade Velasca's
- 21:59[SPEAKER_01]: Keeping him on the roster was huge, keeping him, keeping angle, keeping Steven, keeping Doddy, keeping all these guys that are highly touted in the farm system, and now as well, like I mentioned in the last case, like you didn't move anybody that you can sit there and go, ah, darn, like we know in the next year or two they're going to be playing for someone else, and that's tough to see.
- 22:17[SPEAKER_01]: So again, you go back to it.
- 22:19[SPEAKER_01]: I just don't think that there was really any possible way this deadline could be considered a loss for Cleveland.
- 22:24[SPEAKER_00]: How bad is how bad is Jose?
- 22:27[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think it is bad.
- 22:28[SPEAKER_01]: He's back in the lineup today, so it's nice to see him back out there.
- 22:31[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously, we saw him pinch run last night.
- 22:34[SPEAKER_01]: At this point in time for Cleveland, I think it was, we have a chance to call up a now.
- 22:38[SPEAKER_01]: He just hit two homeruns the night before.
- 22:40[SPEAKER_01]: Are you just struggling?
- 22:41[SPEAKER_01]: Let's get a fresh face in here and let's at least explore what the opportunity could be without Hozy in the lineup.
- 22:46[SPEAKER_01]: And we saw, again, those errors defensively from him now, and a bit of that struggle, some, you know, flow, at least to the infield.
- 22:53[SPEAKER_01]: But I think Hozy's going to be just fine.
- 22:56[SPEAKER_01]: We've seen him fight the injuries in years past.
- 22:59[SPEAKER_01]: If it was something, he would shut himself longer, shut himself down longer for the not he did.
- 23:06[SPEAKER_03]: I also think when you talk about Kate, the him just being able to be that forced in that lineup, it takes pressure off everybody else.
- 23:14[SPEAKER_03]: And I think that's kind of where they've been struggling is not having, we've talked so much about hitting with runners and scoring position.
- 23:20[SPEAKER_03]: That's kind of what Jose is been known for and I got to get him on, you got to get him up in the right spots there.
- 23:25[SPEAKER_03]: But I think that's something that, you know, Bruce and I were talking about this, Kate.
- 23:28[SPEAKER_03]: I feel like there was momentum with the trades.
- 23:30[SPEAKER_03]: You feel really good about that.
- 23:32[SPEAKER_03]: Now you got momentum with an how up.
- 23:34[SPEAKER_03]: And now when Jose is able to come back fully healthy, I think that's another giant wave of momentum that I think is going to help this team get into August and get things right at here.
- 23:42[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and probably as you guys talked about, you know, with those back to back losses, that's going to hinder that a little bit, just kind of the confidence I guess, you know, you have new guys coming in.
- 23:50[SPEAKER_01]: They want to immediately win, like Adele talked about it when he came in, and he said, this is a team competing for a chance to contend, like they're competing to make the postseason.
- 23:57[SPEAKER_01]: They're fighting for the top spot in the American League Central.
- 23:59[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, that's true at all, but now you have to go and show that, and the team does around it all.
- 24:03[SPEAKER_01]: They have to show that they traded for you because this is a good group of players to surround yourself with.
- 24:08[SPEAKER_01]: The same with him now, he came up, and he said, you can feel the energy.
- 24:11[SPEAKER_01]: We can all feel that energy, but you have to go out there on the diamond and show that you're legitimately competing, and you're legitimately contending for the top spot, and you may have to leave central.
- 24:19[SPEAKER_01]: Fortunately, the silver lining is while those back-to-back losses do hurt, the twins haven't won some games, the white socks have lost some games.
- 24:26[SPEAKER_01]: It's still wide open.
- 24:27[SPEAKER_01]: This isn't a gap where you're looking at 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 games, and you're starting to really get concerned.
- 24:33[SPEAKER_01]: This is still a mark that Cleveland can make up.
- 24:35[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and August in September the last couple of years, the Guardians have answered the call and obviously rallied to win the divisions.
- 24:42[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we beat ourselves last night.
- 24:44[SPEAKER_00]: Let's face it.
- 24:44[SPEAKER_00]: But the White Sox picked up Castillo from Seattle, and that's really all they did.
- 24:51[SPEAKER_00]: I'm still, you know, there were three games behind him as we pointed out before you joined us, Kate.
- 24:56[SPEAKER_00]: We're tied for that third and final playoff spot.
- 24:59[SPEAKER_00]: So it is what it is, but it's very much wide open
- 25:05[SPEAKER_00]: It ferns out.
- 25:05[SPEAKER_00]: Now, now, now, what do we have to do to fix baseball that scuba?
- 25:15[SPEAKER_00]: Does not go to the two-time, the back-to-back world series champs soon to be three-pete.
- 25:24[SPEAKER_00]: uh... only three French only two franchises have ever done Yankees have done it several times and the Oklahoma is a Charlie Finley now the Dodgers are on the brink of making doing it all those scuba losses first game he did he did who does all that in starting and didn't show a hit to homerunzel yeah we all say and that's not really what you're talking about
- 25:42[SPEAKER_01]: That's Parker's Bruce.
- 25:44[SPEAKER_01]: We talked about last time on the show though.
- 25:45[SPEAKER_01]: I said I felt that he was going to go to the Milwaukee Brewers or the Los Angeles Dodgers and it was the Dodgers ultimate the end of the day because they had that farm system to give up And I think that your hope is going to be a great player for Detroit So he's someone certainly if you're a Cleveland Guardians fan You've got a monitor or his development because he's someone in a couple years You could be a staple and a mainstay in that Detroit out field, but yeah
- 26:04[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know what we have to do.
- 26:05[SPEAKER_01]: I think that there really is going to be an impending lockout next year.
- 26:07[SPEAKER_01]: I think it does make sense that that's going to be a factor and unfortunately I didn't think so, you know, two, three months ago, but the more that you look at where the sports at, the more you hear, you know, the little words coming through the cracks of owners being like, this is probably going to happen.
- 26:21[SPEAKER_01]: Bruce, I mean, I think that, you know, the only thing that we can do is sit back or relax and try to find a new sport to watch next year.
- 26:27[SPEAKER_01]: Well, yeah.
- 26:29[SPEAKER_00]: The world cups already been here and gone.
- 26:31[SPEAKER_00]: I know.
- 26:32[SPEAKER_00]: Timing stuff.
- 26:33[SPEAKER_00]: the history of this scuba trade.
- 26:38[SPEAKER_00]: He is the first reigning sion award winner to be traded in season since verlander in 2023.
- 26:48[SPEAKER_00]: 2009, Cliff Lee.
- 26:52[SPEAKER_00]: Cleveland, the Philadelphia, 2008.
- 26:53[SPEAKER_00]: Next one, C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C-C
- 27:21[SPEAKER_00]: MVP winner and for the same in the same season and of the sai-young.
- 27:29[SPEAKER_00]: Scoobal is the first back-to-back sai-young winner in the American League since Pedro Martinez in 99 and 2000.
- 27:37[SPEAKER_00]: And only 12 pictures have won back-to-back sai-youngs, including Sandy Cofax, Jim Palmer, Clayton Kershaw.
- 27:47[SPEAKER_00]: And so, and in 1998, Seattle traded Randy Johnson to Houston, and I interviewed John Hart in an Indian's golf outing several years ago, and he told me the biggest miss he made was he was this close from getting Randy Johnson that year that Seattle traded him to Houston.
- 28:10[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, my, I mean,
- 28:12[SPEAKER_01]: this scuba trade really.
- 28:13[SPEAKER_01]: It really does show where baseball's out right now.
- 28:17[SPEAKER_01]: It would have been great to see him go anywhere else.
- 28:19[SPEAKER_01]: Like, you look back at all those those side young trades that you just mentioned.
- 28:22[SPEAKER_01]: And I don't think any of them really make the roster as good as it does this Dodgers team or have as big of an effect
- 28:28[SPEAKER_01]: already loaded with pitch that's what I say it doesn't have this this scoobl trade has the most effect on the history of baseball where it's going to go from here because it really does show the point in time that we're at that things are going to get dicey over the next couple of months and Bruce you've obviously seen the evolution of the sport.
- 28:46[SPEAKER_01]: It sucks because there's an overwhelming amount of interest right now in baseball.
- 28:52[SPEAKER_01]: The sport is growing in an incredible rate.
- 28:54[SPEAKER_01]: And that's because people are looking for a bit more of that slower style they can sit back or to the ballpark with their friends, enjoy something and not have to stare at the feel like you do in football for every single snap and every single play to miss something.
- 29:08[SPEAKER_01]: you know go back and forth down the court in basketball.
- 29:10[SPEAKER_01]: There's this natural knack for I want to get out of my house and not stare at my TV.
- 29:14[SPEAKER_01]: I want to go sit there for two and a half three hours.
- 29:17[SPEAKER_01]: And it sucks that this might not be an opportunity for people next year.
- 29:20[SPEAKER_03]: Well and I always have this conversation for somebody a while ago where they said baseball did everything could to fix on the field.
- 29:26[SPEAKER_03]: Now they're issues are in the dugout.
- 29:28[SPEAKER_03]: and that's where guys leave in teams, super teams.
- 29:31[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, the pitch clock is great.
- 29:32[SPEAKER_03]: The bigger bases, the all, you know, I still hate the extraining stuff at the conversation for another day.
- 29:37[SPEAKER_03]: Like, these kind of moves, Kate, and I get work, tear school, but I'm not defending where he goes, well, you know, 30 or 28 other teams could have traded for me, like anybody else could have came calling and they didn't.
- 29:47[SPEAKER_00]: And they've got the money to recent design here.
- 29:49[SPEAKER_03]: that's a factor and now people are starting to question if there's some nefarious things going on here because there were some questions about what the Tigers asked for and what the Tigers got back and they gave up it was good offer you know that's some people said K they were like
- 30:04[SPEAKER_03]: The what I just read was like the tigers were so hung up on getting a major league starter right now That they passed a better package is so now they think that there's something shady about why they sent them to the Dodgers I wouldn't involve in the conversations.
- 30:19[SPEAKER_03]: I have no idea But yeah at the end of the day is that good for him to go there?
- 30:25[SPEAKER_03]: No, but also
- 30:27[SPEAKER_03]: Nobody's going to want to see the Dodgers win a world series except Dodgers fans now you have somebody who you could watch the Dodgers and the Astros you watch the Dodgers and Guardians in the world series everybody's going to be rooting unless it's the Yankees.
- 30:39[SPEAKER_03]: If it's the Yankees now you've got a problem like anybody else you're going to be rooting for the AL team whoever they face.
- 30:44[SPEAKER_01]: The weird thing is that maybe my circles just haven't talked about a much but it really does feel like where basketball hit a wall when the warrior started building those super teams and the sport started to change very drastically because
- 30:55[SPEAKER_01]: Prior to 2016, like the sport was in a really good spot because the three ball was becoming more and more impactful in the games.
- 31:02[SPEAKER_01]: And players were getting better and better at hitting the three ball.
- 31:05[SPEAKER_01]: And it feels like we're baseballs out right now where we're seeing more home runs, we're seeing better pitching.
- 31:10[SPEAKER_01]: But while everything's going well on the field, like you just mentioned Matt, things off the field aren't going well.
- 31:15[SPEAKER_01]: And so while we had to get through a couple of years of growing pains at the NBA level to see things start to shape out better, where the super team
- 31:24[SPEAKER_01]: you know, advanced across the board where a lot of teams have really good swads.
- 31:27[SPEAKER_01]: We're probably have to see that and we kind of saw the deadline, like teams were loading up, other teams were loading up for the future to potentially have super teams down the line.
- 31:34[SPEAKER_01]: And so I still don't think that the games at a bad spot on the field, in the sense of the super teams just yet, but like you said, like, changes has to be made, it's going to get to a point where,
- 31:44[SPEAKER_01]: We're not even going to go into a year and be competitive because you just know the Dodgers are going to win it like to be honest I do right now like the Guardians made some excellent moves but I don't sit here and go the Guardians are going to contend against the Dodgers and that's just because you just have to look at the talent they have anything can happen in the postseason I'm not saying that's not true but you can't look at these two teams and go.
- 32:03[SPEAKER_01]: they'll go toe-to-toe, they just simply fall.
- 32:05[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 32:06[SPEAKER_00]: Some others, Boston getting eddy, Richmond, I think, is a really, hundred percent for them.
- 32:12[SPEAKER_00]: They've been scorching hot, and they're really, they've solidified right now the second wild card spot at 62 and 57.
- 32:21[SPEAKER_00]: I'm also very surprised the Yankees didn't make a bigger splash.
- 32:25[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, yeah, I mean, and plus like off the Yankees to K like now they're like, oh Ben Rice is just going to catch all the time now and it's like okay and like they're moving people rhinos and Volpi down they same thing like that just seemed to be one that didn't make a lot of sense to rush them in.
- 32:42[SPEAKER_03]: I mean guys, I had to told you two years ago the Oreos are gonna trade Adley Ruchman either had me commit it You know, really great Great, they have a great young catcher come on But he's hurt right now right and then well, I'm just talking about again Ruchman for when he came on the scene No more no-viral picking all that and I think that kind of goes back to even what Kate is talking about it's almost like the volatility of baseball
- 33:03[SPEAKER_03]: If you're good in basketball, you're usually pretty good for a little while, you know, football's a little bit different because it's a bigger team and all that kind of stuff.
- 33:10[SPEAKER_03]: Baseball, it's like these teams, look at the royals, you know, everybody thought they'd be in the World Series for a couple of years coming in here.
- 33:17[SPEAKER_03]: They are struggling again.
- 33:19[SPEAKER_03]: It's just, it's so crazy to see some of these teams that just fall off and, you know, trade pieces off that way.
- 33:24[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think with Ruchman was he was a guy to that would make a lot of sense for Cleveland in the sense of being a DH, but it's true they're like, outside of being a DH, he doesn't really fit the mold of what a Cleveland, you know, catcher is it's someone who's going to be behind the backstop, which is probably ultimately why they decided not to go for because you have the chased a lotters now, you have the Joe Adele's, you have the Jose Ramirez who can slide in that DH spot.
- 33:46[SPEAKER_01]: In with Hozy aging, he's going to probably play more DH.
- 33:49[SPEAKER_01]: So Ruchman didn't really fit that mold because
- 33:52[SPEAKER_01]: Cleveland has shown and they didn't this year by moving on from Bo Nailer that they truly value leadership and defensive capabilities behind home plate above all else.
- 34:02[SPEAKER_03]: Call him a game.
- 34:02[SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
- 34:03[SPEAKER_01]: In wild hedges has gotten better at the plate and we've seen Bailey do a couple of good things here and there and slowly become more reliable.
- 34:09[SPEAKER_01]: They never were going to put themselves in a situation where they sacrifice that leadership and that defensive purpose over the plate.
- 34:17[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I have no problem with that philosophy in this day and age of baseball defense with catchers handling of pitching stance provided the rest of your lineup picks up the slack.
- 34:26[SPEAKER_00]: That's what the case with us.
- 34:29[SPEAKER_00]: One other move in the American League, noteworthy with the trade deadline was Tampa big and he Freddie Perralta will see how that turns out obviously they're enjoying the lead right now by four and a half over the Yankees.
- 34:39[SPEAKER_00]: Let's go over to the nationally for a minute.
- 34:41[SPEAKER_00]: but we so rise goes to Philadelphia, that's significant fellas.
- 34:45[SPEAKER_00]: Also, the cobs made some moves and they got heaven gauzemen.
- 34:49[SPEAKER_00]: Again, is this enough for Philly?
- 34:52[SPEAKER_00]: Is this enough for the co-question?
- 34:53[SPEAKER_00]: I can't know walkie.
- 34:56[SPEAKER_00]: Can anybody a de throne LA?
- 34:58[SPEAKER_00]: You know the one that really surprised, San Diego was active.
- 35:02[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and, and that was it.
- 35:03[SPEAKER_00]: We are really now.
- 35:04[SPEAKER_00]: They're two games out of the wild card right now.
- 35:07[SPEAKER_00]: They picked a Robbie Ray.
- 35:09[SPEAKER_00]: I was surprised that they were active.
- 35:11[SPEAKER_01]: It's like, we're a hundred percent.
- 35:13[SPEAKER_01]: The irony is Bruce, it's so funny because it took me a little bit because when I saw San Diego Padre's come across like my notifications, in my head, I instinctively rode off the Padre's and kept replacing in my head with Pittsburgh Pirates.
- 35:25[SPEAKER_01]: So I was saying the thing, the pirates were making all these moves and I go back and I go.
- 35:30[SPEAKER_01]: know as the podries why the podries making moves because they they were perceived to be sellers at the deadline or at least shopping some of their guys around and instead they kind of loaded up.
- 35:38[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, what do we're dead line in to me that that's kind of shows that
- 35:45[SPEAKER_01]: Not a lot of teams are willing to take major step backwards with next year being such an unknown, because teams want to have at least something of structure in place.
- 35:53[SPEAKER_01]: And that's exactly why I go back to the Guardians.
- 35:56[SPEAKER_01]: They could have thrown the Talon on the season, but they didn't.
- 35:58[SPEAKER_01]: They decided, let's build up a core so that even if we do or don't play baseball next year, we have someone something to look forward to.
- 36:06[SPEAKER_03]: You know, Philly was interesting, because now what, like, bombs got to move, then starts going here, and Bryce's going back to the outfield.
- 36:12[SPEAKER_03]: Like, you know, that was one of them.
- 36:14[SPEAKER_03]: I'm like, I get that you're a major league player.
- 36:16[SPEAKER_03]: You need to move positions.
- 36:17[SPEAKER_03]: We see what the Guardian's sometimes, though.
- 36:19[SPEAKER_03]: You know, okay, I'd like guys to stay in one spot, because there's just some nuances to playing that particular position.
- 36:26[SPEAKER_03]: I'm sure they'll get figured out because they're just gonna do what they do and just mash it all and all that kind of stuff.
- 36:30[SPEAKER_03]: But,
- 36:31[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, that I liked that Robby Ray trade a lot for them.
- 36:34[SPEAKER_03]: I thought that was a really interesting one.
- 36:36[SPEAKER_03]: And, you know, to your point about kind of where we're at baseball, that divide has never been so big of the haves and the havenots.
- 36:42[SPEAKER_03]: I think.
- 36:42[SPEAKER_03]: And I know they added the extra wild card and tried to incentivize teams to keep going, but the problem is, and I don't think there's any way to solve this, you're always going to have five teams that are just completely re-read by this point of the year, and they're just going to be selling pieces off that's how it goes.
- 36:56[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean the angels are kind of like that.
- 36:57[SPEAKER_03]: You know, they were their team that was well He said he's not he said he's find work out the interview.
- 37:03[SPEAKER_03]: He was like, I'm fine.
- 37:04[SPEAKER_03]: He's fine.
- 37:04[SPEAKER_00]: I know Show's what I'm gonna class act indeed.
- 37:08[SPEAKER_03]: He is but can he just I'm gonna say this in the most respectful way that I can Amite trope can actually smash me sack up and get the hell out of there call it for what it is and go get me the hell out of here
- 37:21[SPEAKER_03]: For all of us, don't nobody of us want to sit there and, well, you know how many playoff games he's played in guys three he's got more empty than he does playoff games play getting the hell out of there.
- 37:32[SPEAKER_01]: No, you're totally right because at the end of the line where does that loyalty go against like going out there and just competing like don't you want it try to win a world series, you know.
- 37:48[SPEAKER_00]: How about Miller from San Diego?
- 37:49[SPEAKER_00]: You thought you, um, Kate, I think you said last week.
- 37:52[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, but for sure, he would move and you see opposite San Diego.
- 37:55[SPEAKER_00]: So we just, I think I was surprised.
- 37:57[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I totally thought Miller was going to be on the move.
- 38:00[SPEAKER_01]: And so to see him there, I mean, I guess San Diego is going to be in it for the law of all.
- 38:05[SPEAKER_01]: I guess that's what that shows.
- 38:06[SPEAKER_00]: I was going to return George Springer was actually linked to us.
- 38:11[SPEAKER_00]: and he didn't move, Shane Bieber, the former Indian, did not move, Trevor Rodgers of Baltimore, stayed put checked, holiday of Baltimore, stayed put, Abrams, the short stuff, what, he stayed put, on her green from Cincinnati, stayed put, so though, you know, we talk about everybody that was traded, but I wanted to take a look at some of these guys that weren't that were really hotly rumored to be dealt.
- 38:38[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, and you know a lot of embers too.
- 38:40[SPEAKER_03]: It's the teams that you didn't maybe expect to be having Taylor Ward got moved I wanted him here so bad, but he ends up going to see how okay great stuff.

- 39:50[SPEAKER_00]: And if you
- 39:51[SPEAKER_00]: You don't get an eagle on that par five after I give you a good drive and it's your fault.

- 41:34[SPEAKER_00]: Matt was watching the practice of our Cleveland Browns getting ready for the opening of the season.
- 41:39[SPEAKER_00]: That amazing.
- 41:40[SPEAKER_00]: We are right around the corner.
- 41:43[SPEAKER_00]: It's incredible.
- 41:44[SPEAKER_03]: I was talking to somebody yesterday and they're like, yeah, this is like practice 10.
- 41:47[SPEAKER_03]: And I was like, oh my gosh, like, here we are.
- 41:49[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, it's crazy.
- 41:50[SPEAKER_03]: And they weren't in full pads.
- 41:52[SPEAKER_03]: They were in full pads for two days.
- 41:53[SPEAKER_03]: Yesterday was just shells.
- 41:54[SPEAKER_03]: I guess they're back in full pads.
- 41:56[SPEAKER_03]: you know today and and yeah with the Hall of Fame game at first training camp or first preseason gaming season is right around the corner you know my biggest takeaways from yesterday Bruce and Orion and one of his Sean Watson look good he had some good passes really found Jerry Judy on quite a few over the middle soft spot in the defense
- 42:13[SPEAKER_03]: Denzel boss and just stands out.
- 42:14[SPEAKER_03]: He's just he's big.
- 42:16[SPEAKER_03]: He's fast.
- 42:17[SPEAKER_03]: He gets open.
- 42:18[SPEAKER_03]: Really impressed with him.
- 42:20[SPEAKER_03]: Casey can step Sean.
- 42:20[SPEAKER_03]: It was great to see him back out after that injury scare with his shoulder.
- 42:24[SPEAKER_03]: He looked good.
- 42:25[SPEAKER_03]: You know, defensively it's kind of hard because they're just in shells.
- 42:28[SPEAKER_03]: You know, they're letting the linemen, you know, they're letting the running backs like when Sean would run for 20 yards.
- 42:33[SPEAKER_03]: You know, he probably would have been down somewhere else.
- 42:35[SPEAKER_03]: But, you know, offensively, Judkins looked good.
- 42:37[SPEAKER_03]: But I was really just kind of focused on the quarterback and I thought Watson had a really good day.
- 42:42[SPEAKER_03]: You know, Shador, not quite as much.
- 42:44[SPEAKER_03]: I think I watched him a lot of individual work and I think they're just, you know, Bruce, I just say this and I'm not saying this to be mean or anything.
- 42:52[SPEAKER_03]: He's a second year quarterback.
- 42:53[SPEAKER_03]: There's a lot of work going on with him.
- 42:55[SPEAKER_03]: There's a lot where they're pulling him aside and saying, look at your feet, look where this is like there was one individual drill that I was really watching them.
- 43:03[SPEAKER_03]: And it was one it was just the quarterbacks and there was a coach standing over there and they were practicing the quick throws on like the the flat route, you know, out there quick and sure.
- 43:13[SPEAKER_03]: And stores a little inaccurate on a couple.
- 43:15[SPEAKER_03]: Now what are the coaches walked over me.
- 43:16[SPEAKER_03]: I could see him.
- 43:17[SPEAKER_03]: I could see him talking to Shidorah and telling him and something about his hips and like, you know, I sit there and I want this kid to be if finished polish product and it's like, oh, yeah, he is only just going into a second year college to you.
- 43:28[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, the quick.
- 43:29[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if you saw him at Colorado Matt, but the reason he had such a tremendous completion percentage at Colorado under his father is because he was throwing a hunter.
- 43:39[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, every time hunter touches the ball, he could take it to the house.
- 43:42[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but he did that a lot in college too.
- 43:45[SPEAKER_03]: He did and there's still the I know a lot of people are talking about the cadence right now where there was quite a few pre-snap penalties both offensively defense jumping off sides You heard Todd Munkin talk about it and he was loud out there about it.
- 43:57[SPEAKER_03]: He stopped the whole drill.
- 43:58[SPEAKER_03]: He stopped all 11 on 11 pull everybody in and I could only imagine he's telling them to knock the penalties off, you know And that's something beyond that we've even talked about of the cadence the getting people lined up like who's that drives us crazy or than though
- 44:12[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, illegal motion.
- 44:15[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, good false start.
- 44:17[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, unbelievable.
- 44:19[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, and then, you know, just we got to remember to that there's still installing things like Todd Munkin speaking right now.
- 44:25[SPEAKER_03]: He said today's going to be run and play action.
- 44:27[SPEAKER_03]: So they're going to be putting in a lot of those pieces as they get ready to go for preseason.
- 44:32[SPEAKER_03]: I think the starters are going to play.
- 44:34[SPEAKER_03]: We'll see who starts one game in the other because that's what Todd Munkin said was that should or is going to get one game to Sean's going to get the other.
- 44:39[SPEAKER_03]: We'll see what the order is going to be.
- 44:42[SPEAKER_03]: what's the decision going to come down to you know what's that decision going to look like and I get that early on it seemed like should or got out to a better lead just because Watson looked so bad.
- 44:53[SPEAKER_03]: I got to tell you Bruce watching that camp yesterday it was very clear to me that to Sean Watson's the better quarterback right now.
- 45:00[SPEAKER_03]: I don't I'd rather start should or that's not the world we live in.
- 45:04[SPEAKER_03]: I've maintained I think they're going to start Watson and I think if he can stack a couple of these practices get to the joint practices with the bills and keep showing What the Browns want to see out of him I think it is going to be Watson is your starter starter day one.
- 45:17[SPEAKER_00]: Well, you know where I am on it.
- 45:19[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to let, um, we're going to, like, Ryan chime in, but I'm totally with you on this and you got to get something for the money, uh, or at least find out because this is the last year of that ridiculous contract that failed.
- 45:34[SPEAKER_00]: And the other thing is the experience factor who gives you the best chance to win one of those first two games which are very tough games for the Browns, ATCHX and Villain and ATTAMPA Bay.
- 45:44[SPEAKER_00]: After that, you've got some win-able games.
- 45:46[SPEAKER_00]: So, I'd like to think they can start off one and one, but even if they start off one, two, if Sanders were to start and go o and two, would his confidence still be too shattered to rebound and turn that around to a five and three.
- 46:03[SPEAKER_00]: perhaps, I mean, I'm just throwing out a scenario, right, and chime in because I know you're big on Sanders.
- 46:09[SPEAKER_02]: Bruce, here's the thing you say you want to find out if you can get anything about Deshawn Watson's contract, but the fact is it's too late, nothing can happen that you're going to extend him.
- 46:18[SPEAKER_02]: So what did you rather find out if you have anything in Shoulder Sanders?
- 46:21[SPEAKER_02]: Now again, I'm very comfortable with.
- 46:24[SPEAKER_02]: them subscribing to the idea that it's best to start the shan that way should door can go in when to shan fails he doesn't have to shan waiting behind him he gets that whole runway the rest of the season that's the only way I subscribe to the shan starting the season but back to the original point Bruce doesn't matter how well he plays you're not going to extend him so when she rather find out something about Shador Sanders
- 46:44[SPEAKER_00]: No, I think you're going to find out about Sanders because if Watson fails, like you're so convinced he will, then you're going to have Sanders in there anyway, you're going to find out.
- 46:52[SPEAKER_00]: But your best chance of winning early is with the more experience quarterback in my opinion.
- 46:57[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, and if you put Shidorah in there after Dishon has been in there, that's a step forward for Casey conception.
- 47:03[SPEAKER_03]: Like, Denzel, but you actually might be setting Shidorah for better success because with so many young guys on the offense in a new offense with Todd Monkin,
- 47:12[SPEAKER_03]: there's going to be bumps in the road.
- 47:13[SPEAKER_03]: There's going to be issues early in the season just again.
- 47:16[SPEAKER_03]: So many young guys in a brand new offense, you might want to start Watson.
- 47:20[SPEAKER_03]: So he takes those lumps and things go, I'm going to say poorly, but you never know it's going to go, but like you give what I'm saying, if there's going to be issues kind of let Watson absorb that because he's probably better at handling that or more apt to handle it and maybe again better on commanding the offense and knowing what pieces need to go where and things like that, then you could put
- 47:39[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, Bruce, we don't even know the offensive line is going to be right now, and they're a little banged up right now.
- 47:43[SPEAKER_00]: We'll get to that in a minute, but you know, here's another point.
- 47:47[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's more beneficial to start on the road because let's say Watson throws a pick.
- 47:54[SPEAKER_00]: If he throws, if this, if they were starting at home and he throws a pick and the first half of game one, you know what those fans are going to do.
- 48:01[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 48:01[SPEAKER_00]: And so it's better to take the pressure off on the road.
- 48:05[SPEAKER_00]: Baseball teams will tell you because they travel the most.
- 48:07[SPEAKER_00]: They say when we're in a slump, it's good to get on the road and get us out of the slump.
- 48:12[SPEAKER_00]: So we don't hear the booze from our home fans.
- 48:14[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, but what we talk about this whole to Sean being the better quarterback to win right now.
- 48:19[SPEAKER_02]: Where does that leadership qualities that you're talking about that experience?
- 48:23[SPEAKER_02]: That's great.
- 48:23[SPEAKER_02]: But then where does that meet inability to run?
- 48:26[SPEAKER_02]: Inability to your short quickness is gone.
- 48:30[SPEAKER_02]: Your you you're you're fearing every time you're getting hit.
- 48:32[SPEAKER_02]: Do you haven't played up to NFL games?
- 48:34[SPEAKER_03]: I did three years and you're not going to like my answer to this and you have every right not to and you can yell at me after I finish here, but I got to say this.
- 48:41[SPEAKER_03]: Watson looked good yesterday.
- 48:43[SPEAKER_03]: Is it shorts?
- 48:44[SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
- 48:45[SPEAKER_02]: Is it training camp better every other practice?
- 48:47[SPEAKER_03]: I haven't been there.
- 48:48[SPEAKER_03]: I was there yesterday I was a first day.
- 48:49[SPEAKER_03]: I'm there.
- 48:49[SPEAKER_03]: I'm going again next week.
- 48:51[SPEAKER_03]: So like I'll have a little bit of a comparison I'm just going off what I hear from other people.
- 48:55[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, should door was better.
- 48:56[SPEAKER_03]: Sure or started out better But in part of that was because everybody said Watson was so bad
- 49:01[SPEAKER_03]: I got to tell you Watson won the day yesterday.
- 49:03[SPEAKER_03]: He was better than should or Sanders yesterday.
- 49:05[SPEAKER_03]: Was that just one day sure?
- 49:08[SPEAKER_03]: Is Monkin and Travis Switzerland the OC and everybody watching the tape looking for different things than you and I or the quarterback tracker?
- 49:15[SPEAKER_03]: Yes, 100%.
- 49:17[SPEAKER_03]: That's the world that we live in.
- 49:18[SPEAKER_03]: They're looking for different things.
- 49:19[SPEAKER_03]: But I'm just telling you some of the throws that I saw.
- 49:22[SPEAKER_03]: Yes, I'll tell you this.
- 49:23[SPEAKER_03]: This throws that got me the most that I said, wow.
- 49:27[SPEAKER_03]: every time I looked at was Watson.
- 49:29[SPEAKER_03]: That was one practice.
- 49:30[SPEAKER_03]: It's just one practice.
- 49:31[SPEAKER_03]: I'm just telling you what I saw in an hour and a half practice yesterday.
- 49:35[SPEAKER_00]: I was just reading this a real project, huh?
- 49:37[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I mean, he's just, he's so tall.
- 49:40[SPEAKER_03]: He's so tall, and I think something that, you know, I've even heard people discuss or anything is right.
- 49:45[SPEAKER_03]: Bruce, when you're tall like that, you had a long lined up.
- 49:47[SPEAKER_03]: And when you're talking about seconds of guys getting on you in the past, right?
- 49:50[SPEAKER_03]: You got to get that football out.
- 49:52[SPEAKER_03]: Project.
- 49:52[SPEAKER_03]: And they look at Trevor Lawrence, who's six, six, and Justin Herbert, who's six, six.
- 49:56[SPEAKER_03]: They have found ways to shorten that arm mechanic, and they've been able to shorten their release to get the ball out.
- 50:03[SPEAKER_03]: You know, plus again, it's just he's got athletic talent out to Wazir.
- 50:06[SPEAKER_03]: I'm not saying that he doesn't.
- 50:07[SPEAKER_03]: And I watched him a little bit and he was out there early, doing his work and all that kind of stuff, but they just he has no team reps. And yeah, let's address that offensive line.
- 50:14[SPEAKER_00]: They're a little banged up right now.
- 50:16[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, right now it's basically just lukewarm players.
- 50:18[SPEAKER_03]: You're only healthy center at this point.
- 50:20[SPEAKER_03]: Jenkins is an out there.
- 50:21[SPEAKER_03]: Kevin Jenkins or Elton Jenkins, and Kevin Jenkins kind of haven't been out there.
- 50:25[SPEAKER_03]: I think a lot of people were focused on the
- 50:29[SPEAKER_03]: been named the left tackle yet they're waiting for him.
- 50:32[SPEAKER_03]: He's got to switch sides.
- 50:33[SPEAKER_03]: I think everybody saw the clip of him and Jared verse working yesterday off to the side.
- 50:37[SPEAKER_03]: Where's Duan Jones fitted my fear on this whole thing Bruce is just this this oh well these guys can play multiple positions stop that stop it tight you paid tight is Howard to come here to be your right tackle name him the right tackle.
- 50:53[SPEAKER_03]: Figure out the other guys.
- 50:54[SPEAKER_03]: Don't feel like you gotta give DeWan Jones a position because you're like, oh, we gotta find the best five line and to get out there, shut up, stop it.
- 51:03[SPEAKER_03]: You have guards, you have tackles.
- 51:05[SPEAKER_03]: Stop trying to build, we can play tacklery play.
- 51:08[SPEAKER_03]: Center if you really need him too.
- 51:09[SPEAKER_03]: Sure, back up guys, that you gotta put on the 53 on Sunday and you wanna make sure that you had a guy if somebody gets hurt, that's fine.
- 51:16[SPEAKER_03]: That's not where we're at right now.
- 51:18[SPEAKER_03]: Stop it!
- 51:19[SPEAKER_03]: Zion Johnson, you paid him.
- 51:21[SPEAKER_03]: He'd damn well better be your starting right guard.
- 51:24[SPEAKER_03]: Or left or whatever.
- 51:25[SPEAKER_03]: You drafted Spencer for no.
- 51:25[SPEAKER_03]: Do I want to rush him along?
- 51:26[SPEAKER_03]: Not necessarily, but also, sorry about it, man.
- 51:27[SPEAKER_03]: It's the NFL.
- 51:28[SPEAKER_03]: You're the night overall pick.
- 51:28[SPEAKER_03]: Get your ass over to left tackle and figure it out.
- 51:30[SPEAKER_02]: It's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it
- 51:39[SPEAKER_03]: One of the things like I'm not trying to bring this defense gear back up and I was just a defense key defender for a long time and I know that Bill Callahan walks on one of they would do this cross-training crap and it's just, oh my gosh, it's number 13 true.
- 51:53[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I don't see him.
- 51:54[SPEAKER_03]: Number 13.
- 51:54[SPEAKER_03]: God, it's drizzling.
- 51:56[SPEAKER_00]: And I will be in Cleveland in George Warhoffs.
- 51:58[SPEAKER_00]: Guess who their head coach is.
- 52:00[SPEAKER_00]: George Warops, a great offensive line coach too.
- 52:02[SPEAKER_03]: Like let's not make any bones about that.
- 52:04[SPEAKER_03]: Call of hands, very good.
- 52:05[SPEAKER_03]: George Warop is very good.
- 52:06[SPEAKER_03]: He's gonna get these guys right.
- 52:08[SPEAKER_03]: I don't mean to be screaming two, three weeks into camp.
- 52:11[SPEAKER_03]: But we need to start getting some of these things figured out on the offensive lines.
- 52:14[SPEAKER_03]: Drop me up a wall.
- 52:15[SPEAKER_00]: We know we've got a very good receiving tight end and fan, but are concerned that he's not a good blocker.
- 52:20[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, a little bit.
- 52:21[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, they have Jack Stoll, who's who's certainly in this thing right now.
- 52:25[SPEAKER_03]: Carson Ryan, the traffic.
- 52:27[SPEAKER_03]: Every time I draw a lawyer, he's not been there.
- 52:29[SPEAKER_03]: There's questions on where he is.
- 52:31[SPEAKER_03]: There's some off the field questions with him.
- 52:35[SPEAKER_03]: I can't speak on those.
- 52:36[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know.
- 52:37[SPEAKER_03]: I have whatever.
- 52:38[SPEAKER_03]: We'll set that aside.
- 52:39[SPEAKER_03]: Um, but stole.
- 52:40[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I stole beer blocking.
- 52:41[SPEAKER_03]: I don't read it up like white heart either.
- 52:43[SPEAKER_03]: Uh, he's been here for a couple of years.
- 52:45[SPEAKER_03]: He's literally a big body blocking tight end.
- 52:47[SPEAKER_03]: So they'll kind of piece him in there.
- 52:49[SPEAKER_03]: But yeah, I saw a fan and he had a couple catches yesterday and he battled an injury early and carried out off season surgery, actually.
- 52:54[SPEAKER_03]: Uh, on that that groin, I assume I think it was like a sports harming thing, but whatever.
- 52:58[SPEAKER_03]: He's back.
- 52:59[SPEAKER_03]: He looks good.
- 53:00[SPEAKER_03]: Um, you know, and again, if you got that as your number one receiving tight end shirt and they're going to use stolen white heart as their as their blockers probably.
- 53:07[SPEAKER_00]: Last week, I revealed that CBS sports line ranked the top 10 players at every offensive position and only a fan and junior from our team ranked in the tight end category and he was ninth.
- 53:23[SPEAKER_00]: uh... no tackles no interior linemen no wide receivers no running backs and of course no quarterbacks now this week cbs has ranked the top ten defensive positions and the browns have no interior linemen
- 53:39[SPEAKER_00]: Ed's rusher's verse when we got obviously in the garrot trade and he ranks number nine by the way the off-the-ball linebackers Carson Shwessinger is number three.
- 53:57[SPEAKER_00]: He's a great player.
- 53:58[SPEAKER_00]: He really is and cornerbacks Denzel Ward ranks number eight no safety
- 54:03[SPEAKER_03]: Well, I'm Denzel, right?
- 54:04[SPEAKER_03]: Am I missed us on the NFL Top 100?
- 54:06[SPEAKER_03]: Is he not in the Top 100?
- 54:08[SPEAKER_03]: I haven't been keeping up with it, but I think they're in the like the third season.
- 54:11[SPEAKER_02]: Or I hope he's not, but Matt, you remember just a couple years ago, he missed out on the Top 100 too, and I had a gripe with it, because that's continuously probably the most underrated corner and the whole entire NFL, because we look at that as a position where age reigns superior, kind of like running back, but Denzel Ward again, that top 10 list, the only corner back that was above 26, and he's 29, Matt.
- 54:29[SPEAKER_02]: They don't make them like Denzel.
- 54:30[SPEAKER_03]: No, and that's, I'm not caring about the NFL top 100 because they don't really care about it, but just off of the word thing.
- 54:36[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I mean, that was going to be it.
- 54:38[SPEAKER_03]: Your best player is now Denzel Ward.
- 54:40[SPEAKER_03]: I think Carson's messenger.
- 54:42[SPEAKER_03]: Well, okay, verse or word are one of your two best players.
- 54:46[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, probably Denzel, then verse, then Swesinger.
- 54:48[SPEAKER_03]: They're on the same side of the football.
- 54:50[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, by that, I'll listen to that.
- 54:53[SPEAKER_03]: Fanon certainly close, but he's a tight end.
- 54:55[SPEAKER_03]: I think Quinshawn Judkins will be in that top 10 running back after this.
- 54:58[SPEAKER_00]: He was an honorable mention.
- 55:00[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I imagine he'll be there in the offense.
- 55:02[SPEAKER_00]: I do.
- 55:03[SPEAKER_03]: He was an honorable mention.
- 55:04[SPEAKER_03]: You know me and my guy at Denzel Boston.
- 55:06[SPEAKER_03]: I think the receivers are on the up and up with the receiver that list like you could have a guy at nine That's absolutely insane just because there's so many good receivers in the game now But yeah, I mean that's that's kind of where the Browns have built this team up and and at the end of the day The trading a miles and and people trying to throw dirt on that grave or bring this up about this or that I still expect this to be a top 10 defense minimum minimum top 10 defense
- 55:30[SPEAKER_03]: You know, Mason Graham's been out of practice too.
- 55:32[SPEAKER_03]: He's not been there.
- 55:32[SPEAKER_03]: A lot of detackles that have been injured.
- 55:34[SPEAKER_03]: Right.
- 55:34[SPEAKER_03]: And not there.
- 55:35[SPEAKER_03]: Malik Collins is still on pop.
- 55:36[SPEAKER_03]: I get that.
- 55:37[SPEAKER_03]: They talked about clowning.
- 55:40[SPEAKER_03]: I think something was going on there.
- 55:42[SPEAKER_03]: But we'll set that aside for a second.
- 55:43[SPEAKER_03]: Well, I know.
- 55:44[SPEAKER_03]: He's signed in Houston, but the way you heard Barry talk about him was I don't think I've heard Andrew Barry talk about a free agent that way, but that's either here nor there.
- 55:52[SPEAKER_03]: Um, so I mean, again,
- 55:54[SPEAKER_03]: When you have, then again, with a guy at each level, you have a past Russia who's really good, you have a linebacker that's really good, you have one corner who's really good.
- 56:03[SPEAKER_03]: You can mix in Mason Graham, I'm excited about the Quincy William signing, I think Grant Delpit is a beast, I think a man who like Neil Warren's going to be good, I think Tyson Campbell is really good, you have this set up, even with a new defensive coordinator Mike Root and Burke, there is no question.
- 56:19[SPEAKER_00]: that this should be a top 10 defense minimum they better be and with whatever you get with the offense you know we'll have to say well before we we sign off I want to get your take on this Colorado judge making the ruling about college football eligibility for a fifth year yeah and this is really causing a turmoil among programs around the country and we're already seeing the repercussions.
- 56:47[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, and I think that's where there's too many things going on with this college really college athletic eligibility.
- 56:56[SPEAKER_03]: With fifth year and like obviously there's still guys that are getting COVID, there's that clip that kid at UNLV, he did just see him in the lineback right camera versus name and he's sitting there and he's getting all these guys jacked and hyped for UNLV and they sit there and they go.
- 57:09[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, he was in Willie Anderson's class, like he's been in college for six years playing a football and there's injuries and all that.
- 57:18[SPEAKER_03]: The NCAA has too many plates spinning on what they want to do with NIL, what they want to do with eligibility because this is what the crux is.
- 57:25[SPEAKER_03]: these players are going to a judge and he only takes one judge to find a judge to put an injunction in and you're you know you're good and they're saying well you're keeping me from making money because I could get out of that robby of you believe the cream out doge bar guy not that one the other one and the wake up you're just one of these judges know about football well he just woman that that made this ruling
- 57:45[SPEAKER_03]: They got boosters, they got boosters, just like they got programs, got boosters, they know it's going back record in her rulings.
- 57:52[SPEAKER_00]: I took a look at her and I'm saying, why is she dipping into something she knows nothing about it?
- 57:57[SPEAKER_03]: Well, the NCAA needs to come out and they are starting to do this now where you get five years.
- 58:01[SPEAKER_03]: That's it.
- 58:02[SPEAKER_03]: And it's five years from whenever you turn 18 or five years of when you enter the NCAA for your freshman year.
- 58:08[SPEAKER_03]: And I agree.
- 58:09[SPEAKER_03]: I don't even want them to get five years of eligibility.
- 58:12[SPEAKER_03]: Why can't it not be that you get five years to use up four years of eligibility?
- 58:17[SPEAKER_03]: You get her sorry you transfer you get one transfer you want to sit out another year after that do whatever you want to do
- 58:24[SPEAKER_03]: it's too much going on.
- 58:26[SPEAKER_03]: They're the prime is that football is going to rule its college is only focused on what the playoff and getting that figured out.
- 58:33[SPEAKER_03]: Once I think that gets all set, then they'll be able to sit down and make the rules and just listen, these are the rules.
- 58:39[SPEAKER_03]: This is it.
- 58:39[SPEAKER_03]: When you sign with the NCAA, I played the lowest level of division three college football.
- 58:46[SPEAKER_03]: Bruce, I had to sign paperwork to say I was in the NCAA and that I was playing for the NCAA.
- 58:53[SPEAKER_03]: Why in that piece of paper can't you put in there?
- 58:57[SPEAKER_03]: You can't stay here for seven years.
- 58:58[SPEAKER_03]: You can't, you can't stay in college long as you want.
- 59:01[SPEAKER_03]: You get five years of eligibility to play your sport.
- 59:04[SPEAKER_03]: Wrestling, basketball, softball, track, it doesn't matter.
- 59:08[SPEAKER_03]: Why they can't do that?
- 59:10[SPEAKER_03]: I have no idea.
- 59:11[SPEAKER_03]: I really don't.
- 59:12[SPEAKER_03]: Ohio State started practice today.
- 59:14[SPEAKER_00]: I ended up in up their season against Ball State on September the 5th.
- 59:17[SPEAKER_00]: Also on that date, college football on areas really gets off to a roaring start with
- 59:26[SPEAKER_00]: at LSU.
- 59:27[SPEAKER_00]: Well, Clemson, come back this year.
- 59:28[SPEAKER_00]: And then Sunday on September the 6th with Conson was Conson and Luke Fickle's really on the hot seat in Madison at Notre Dame.
- 59:38[SPEAKER_00]: And then September the 12th listen to these matchups Oklahoma.
- 59:43[SPEAKER_00]: At Michigan, Arizona, at BYU, BYU's a really good team this year, Ohio State, at Texas.
- 59:52[SPEAKER_00]: And then Saturday, September 19th, LSU, at Ole Miss.
- 59:55[SPEAKER_00]: I wonder if they will be welcoming, lean on that.
- 1:00:01[SPEAKER_00]: At Ole Miss, now that he is coaching LSU, the way he abandoned that program, but to make matters worse.
- 1:00:09[SPEAKER_00]: He captured millions of dollars because Ole Miss did well on the playoffs, and he's contract was that he would benefit financially from that.
- 1:00:19[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, just crazy on that speaking of benefiting financially, right?
- 1:00:24[SPEAKER_03]: Fandul, let's go, Guardians won a clock today, but first before we do anything daily dinner, if you will Ryan, you're ready?
