- 0:07Speaker 1: The season with Peter Schreger as a production of the
- 0:09Speaker 1: NFL in partnership with iHeartRadio. Welcome everybody to episode two
- 0:25Speaker 1: of the season with Peter Schreger. We've got our guest
- 0:29Speaker 1: in studio this week, so I'm just gonna get right
- 0:32Speaker 1: into it. You know him from his work as Kirby
- 0:34Speaker 1: Quimby Philby on the TV show Sisters. Do you know
- 0:37Speaker 1: him from a Super Nintendo cameo on YouTube? And you
- 0:41Speaker 1: also know him from two thousands gen Y Cops, Ladies
- 0:44Speaker 1: and gentlemen, Paul Rudd, Paul, what's up man? Peter? Thanks
- 0:48Speaker 1: for knocking off those highlights for me. When you've got
- 0:50Speaker 1: a resume like you do. I had to hit him.
- 0:52Speaker 1: What is gen Y Cops? Well, it's the sequel obviously
- 0:55Speaker 1: to gen X Cars. What is it? What is it?
- 0:58Speaker 1: Gen Y Cops? Two thousand? Take us? Okay, It's a
- 1:02Speaker 1: movie that I filmed in Hong Kong. There are two
- 1:07Speaker 1: Americans in the in the cast, Me and they gut
- 1:10Speaker 1: named Mark, who uh was one of the very first
- 1:14Speaker 1: internet memes as the you know, like the ninja, the
- 1:18Speaker 1: that does the backflip and lands. Yeah, and they tried
- 1:20Speaker 1: to get Nun chucks. Yeah, but this was before that.
- 1:23Speaker 1: So when that meme hit and it was like going
- 1:26Speaker 1: around and I was like, well check this out. I'm like, yeah, oh,
- 1:28Speaker 1: it's Mark my coast from Cops. What's the what's the story? Okay,
- 1:36Speaker 1: the FBI has developed a killer robot and there are
- 1:40Speaker 1: these uh, these kind of these cops they don't really
- 1:44Speaker 1: play by the rules. Yeah, yeah, they're the and um,
- 1:49Speaker 1: there are these three cops. They look great, they're super cool.
- 1:54Speaker 1: I'm not one of them. That's all there. The entire
- 1:58Speaker 1: film I think, is in Cantonese. And uh, but I
- 2:01Speaker 1: play the head of the FBI. I have blonde hair.
- 2:04Speaker 1: It's the only time in my life I've ever died
- 2:06Speaker 1: my hair. I got I got to Hong Kong. Did
- 2:08Speaker 1: you get into character? Was this like method acting? This
- 2:10Speaker 1: was told like this was such method acting. You're gonna
- 2:13Speaker 1: be the head of the FBI. You're you're I know,
- 2:16Speaker 1: you're twenty nine years old, but we think you should
- 2:19Speaker 1: have blonde hair. And I'm like, yeah, all right, I
- 2:21Speaker 1: think so too. And so uh my wife said, if
- 2:25Speaker 1: I if Duran Durand made a video about the FBI
- 2:29Speaker 1: fighting a killer robot, you are Simon laban en Y
- 2:35Speaker 1: co produced by Jackie Chan. Really yeah, but not in it.
- 2:39Speaker 1: He's not. He wasn't he put the money? Yeah he was. Yeah. Yeah. Um,
- 2:47Speaker 1: love you dude, thanks for doing this. Um, we're coming
- 2:50Speaker 1: off of Chiefs Bills on Sunday. We know you are
- 2:54Speaker 1: a die hard Chiefs fin quickly. Your takeaway from the battle, well,
- 2:58Speaker 1: what a game. I mean it lived up to the hype.
- 3:01Speaker 1: And uh, I wasn't you know what. I'm always look,
- 3:05Speaker 1: I'm always rooting for the Chiefs always. Oh and they're
- 3:09Speaker 1: my favorite team. But like, I wasn't that bummed that
- 3:12Speaker 1: they lost this one, not like you know, the Colts.
- 3:14Speaker 1: I was devastated, but this this was just like god,
- 3:18Speaker 1: you know what, you just got to give it up
- 3:19Speaker 1: to just a great, a great game. It went down
- 3:23Speaker 1: to the end. You get my homes with the ball
- 3:26Speaker 1: of a minute four left. You're not kicking yourself. And
- 3:28Speaker 1: that was also, you know, like the whole thing about
- 3:30Speaker 1: the thirteen seconds from last year, they actually went down
- 3:33Speaker 1: did it again in twelve seconds? Um? But uh, you know,
- 3:38Speaker 1: we look, the Bills deserve to win that game for sure,
- 3:41Speaker 1: and I'm excited to see him again and hopefully we'll
- 3:44Speaker 1: win that one. But you know, hats off to the
- 3:46Speaker 1: Bills for sure. Okay, we're gonna get into all chiefs stuff.
- 3:49Speaker 1: We're gonna get into a lot of stuff. But on
- 3:50Speaker 1: this podcast we do something called the four downs, and
- 3:53Speaker 1: usually Aaron, my wonderful producer who's with us in the
- 3:56Speaker 1: room right now, we'll rattle off a statement and then
- 3:59Speaker 1: I will give my thoughts. Um, you're here in studio.
- 4:03Speaker 1: This is a rare, rare deal. I think you should
- 4:07Speaker 1: serve me up and then I'll give my thoughts and
- 4:09Speaker 1: you kind of way into So what's the first down? Okay,
- 4:12Speaker 1: you're ready for the first down? All right here? It is?
- 4:15Speaker 1: Is it okay to get excited about the Jets? Yes,
- 4:18Speaker 1: yes it is. It's exciting, It is exciting, and it
- 4:21Speaker 1: is okay to be excited about the Jets. You live
- 4:24Speaker 1: in New York City. In the last decade, there has
- 4:26Speaker 1: been maybe one Jets team that has been worth rallying around.
- 4:29Speaker 1: This one has stars on Stars on Stars that are
- 4:33Speaker 1: all under the age of twenty five. Paul. They are
- 4:35Speaker 1: so young they don't know any better. You see Sauce
- 4:38Speaker 1: Gardner wearing a foam cheese head through Lambeau and in
- 4:42Speaker 1: your head, You're like, that's a little bit disrespectful. He
- 4:44Speaker 1: doesn't know any better. Like he's like, oh cool, a
- 4:46Speaker 1: foam cheese hat and he puts it on his Well
- 4:48Speaker 1: he might be, but he's like, yeah, we just Scott.
- 4:52Speaker 1: That's kind of like his name is he Sauce. I
- 4:56Speaker 1: saw the draft. He had a big, like giant chain
- 4:58Speaker 1: of ketchup on. That's the guy who's gonna wear that's
- 5:01Speaker 1: gonna go into Lambo And I think it's cool, Like
- 5:03Speaker 1: you have to accept it. And Breece Hawman come on,
- 5:05Speaker 1: all right, so let's talk Bruesehal. Because I said on
- 5:08Speaker 1: the show Good Morning Football, I'm like, one week, I'm like,
- 5:10Speaker 1: he reminds me a little bit of let me on Bell.
- 5:11Speaker 1: The next week I'm like, actually a little Matt Forte.
- 5:13Speaker 1: Oh wait, he's actually Marshall Falk. And then this week
- 5:15Speaker 1: someone someone tweeted the show and I was like, all right,
- 5:18Speaker 1: before your time, dude. But he runs like Gail Sayers.
- 5:20Speaker 1: I'm like, a oh Gail Sayers. It's high. When you
- 5:22Speaker 1: watch Breefe Hall, doesn't it feel like the world is
- 5:24Speaker 1: in slow motion when this guy's running the ball. It's
- 5:26Speaker 1: like a different speed he is a He is great.
- 5:28Speaker 1: He's so fun to watch. I think he's going to
- 5:30Speaker 1: have an amazing career. And I'm stoked for the Jets.
- 5:34Speaker 1: I think it's it's so nice to see the team
- 5:37Speaker 1: do well. I mean, I've always liked the Jets always.
- 5:40Speaker 1: They played Denver in Denver, and I'm like, on an
- 5:42Speaker 1: every other year you'd be like, oh, the young team
- 5:43Speaker 1: going to Mile High. Regardless of Russell's probably they can
- 5:46Speaker 1: be Denver. And then like the Bills are looming and
- 5:49Speaker 1: that's the trick, that's the test. You're a five and
- 5:51Speaker 1: two Jets team and you're playing Buffalo, and Buffalo's owned
- 5:54Speaker 1: them in recent years. Obviously, Like I'm excited, but at
- 5:56Speaker 1: the very least, you're coming towards Halloween, and you're a
- 5:59Speaker 1: Jets fan, of course you should be excited. It's really
- 6:01Speaker 1: fun when the Jets well, the Jets and the Giants
- 6:03Speaker 1: both doing well. To be in this city when those
- 6:05Speaker 1: teams are doing well and it's been a while, it's uh,
- 6:08Speaker 1: it's great. It's great for the sport, it's great for
- 6:11Speaker 1: the city. I feel like you and the Jet I
- 6:14Speaker 1: feel like I listened to you on the Kelsey Podcast,
- 6:17Speaker 1: your first NFL game. Was it a Jets or Giants?
- 6:20Speaker 1: Giants in the very first game I ever went, told
- 6:23Speaker 1: I was probably about five, okay, and it's like the
- 6:25Speaker 1: old Giant Stadium it was. Yeah, it might have been
- 6:30Speaker 1: the Polo Grounds if they were playing field. So I went,
- 6:37Speaker 1: I went to go see, uh yeah, who was to eat? Giants?
- 6:40Speaker 1: Who was Giants and Eagles? So probably like like Harold
- 6:42Speaker 1: Carmichael Jaworski, like those Wever Montgomery. Yeah, yeah, that was
- 6:45Speaker 1: that team. Okay, And you have any memories from that game?
- 6:48Speaker 1: I remember peeing in the parking lot there you go, man, Yeah,
- 6:50Speaker 1: because my dad was like, come on, we're getting out
- 6:52Speaker 1: of here and beating the traffic, which was my dad's
- 6:54Speaker 1: mo for every we ever went to mine two third
- 6:58Speaker 1: quarter of a Big Nets Bullets game. We gotta get
- 7:00Speaker 1: out of here. Yeah, Brendan Burn Arena parking lot is
- 7:03Speaker 1: going to be mayhem afterwards. And also it's like even
- 7:05Speaker 1: if like, oh no, this is going down to the wire,
- 7:08Speaker 1: you gotta beat the draft. Then he's like that we
- 7:10Speaker 1: definitely need to go because no one's gonna leave right now.
- 7:13Speaker 1: No one in the right mind would leave right now.
- 7:14Speaker 1: Come on, grab your coat, let's go. So that was
- 7:17Speaker 1: always am and I remember leaving the game early and saying,
- 7:22Speaker 1: but I have to peet, and my dad just goes,
- 7:23Speaker 1: come on, let's just go ah and just you'll pee
- 7:25Speaker 1: by the car. I'm beating the parking lot. That's I
- 7:26Speaker 1: remember from that game. And if you go to that
- 7:28Speaker 1: parking lot right now there, it's it hasn't changed much.
- 7:32Speaker 1: That's it. There's a plaque right in front. All right,
- 7:35Speaker 1: second down, all right, second down? You're ready? Yeah, all right,
- 7:39Speaker 1: here we go. After Sunday Nights win, is it fair
- 7:42Speaker 1: to say the Eagles are the class of the NFC? Yes,
- 7:45Speaker 1: but I don't think there's a huge gap between the
- 7:48Speaker 1: Eagles and the Cowboys. I came away from Sunday Nights
- 7:51Speaker 1: game being like, Cowboys are sneaky good, not even sneaky,
- 7:54Speaker 1: just like, that's not a team I want to face
- 7:56Speaker 1: in the playoffs. Michael Parsons was all over the field
- 7:58Speaker 1: in the second half, and the second lane Johnson went
- 8:00Speaker 1: down with an injury. It was like, all right, Dallas
- 8:03Speaker 1: is winning this game. The Eagles could not move the
- 8:05Speaker 1: ball in the second half, and they had this great
- 8:07Speaker 1: drive like put the game away, and it was I
- 8:10Speaker 1: think it was seven minutes, thirty five seconds. They go
- 8:12Speaker 1: seventy five yards and like they finally get that breathing room,
- 8:14Speaker 1: and it was like a giant sigh of relief in
- 8:16Speaker 1: that building because you felt the momentum changing. And now
- 8:18Speaker 1: the Cowboys get dacked back. I think it's the perfect
- 8:20Speaker 1: setup for what's going to be a great NFC East
- 8:22Speaker 1: with the Giants now relevant too. But I look at
- 8:25Speaker 1: that NFC and like you go through it, the Eagles
- 8:28Speaker 1: are the class of the NFC because San Francisco is
- 8:31Speaker 1: all banged up, Tampa Bay looks like they've got some
- 8:35Speaker 1: you know, they've got to have some reckoning or something
- 8:37Speaker 1: that has to come, and Green Bay looks lost, rams
- 8:40Speaker 1: all injured. Saints. You go through, it's Dallas and Philly
- 8:43Speaker 1: and the Giants. It's pretty crazy. I feel like the
- 8:44Speaker 1: NFC East, so the teams were about and then the
- 8:46Speaker 1: Vikings are four and one or five and one right now.
- 8:48Speaker 1: But like I've watched these Vikings games, you don't get
- 8:51Speaker 1: the overwhelming feeling like the Vikings are gonna knock any
- 8:54Speaker 1: of these teams out, and especially the fact that they
- 8:56Speaker 1: went into Philly and Monday Night football and had nothing
- 8:59Speaker 1: to really show for Like, I guess it's Philly and
- 9:01Speaker 1: the Cowboys and the Giants and Phillies at number one.
- 9:03Speaker 1: Do you have any thoughts and the Eagles fans in
- 9:06Speaker 1: your life? I feel like we're so close to Philly
- 9:08Speaker 1: that like it, you feel the Eagles fan presence, especially
- 9:11Speaker 1: now with what the Phillies are doing. Yeah, we're just
- 9:13Speaker 1: saying it's an exciting time to be a Philadelphia sports fan. Um.
- 9:18Speaker 1: Look that the team is great. I mean Hurts is
- 9:22Speaker 1: for real, he is, and I think there are questions
- 9:23Speaker 1: before the season. I think he's silenced all those he
- 9:26Speaker 1: wins games. Yeah, he does the defense. I mean they're
- 9:29Speaker 1: on both sides of the ball. I mean I don't
- 9:33Speaker 1: think they're it's I don't think it's a fluke that
- 9:36Speaker 1: they're undefeated. Yeah here's what now, you say this about Dallas. Yeah, right,
- 9:41Speaker 1: Dak comes back and what does that due to the
- 9:44Speaker 1: team mojo? It's a you know, because they weren't good
- 9:46Speaker 1: the first week with Dak and he hurts his thumb
- 9:48Speaker 1: and you're like, oh, it's over, and then they got better.
- 9:50Speaker 1: I think that the chance to gel with Cooper Rush
- 9:54Speaker 1: and to rely on the run game war and the
- 9:56Speaker 1: defense kind of get and like, okay, we're the lead
- 9:58Speaker 1: dogs this year. Like, I don't think you're asking a
- 10:00Speaker 1: lot for Dak to step in and just don't turn
- 10:02Speaker 1: the ball over and be better than Cooper Rush. We
- 10:03Speaker 1: could beat these games. We can win these games. And
- 10:06Speaker 1: A Parson's my guy? Isn't he good? That guy? All right?
- 10:09Speaker 1: Number three? This is kind of a random one, but
- 10:11Speaker 1: I wanted to make a statement. So why don't you
- 10:13Speaker 1: give me third down? All right? You're ready? Yeah, all right,
- 10:16Speaker 1: here it's coming. Who's Jack Easterby? And why does his
- 10:19Speaker 1: firing make national news? Thank you, Paul. And this has
- 10:22Speaker 1: been a burning question, I know, no wondering, and I
- 10:24Speaker 1: thought you're the guy to ask. I know you've been
- 10:25Speaker 1: thinking about Jack Easterby all day. All right, So Jack Easterby,
- 10:29Speaker 1: if you're a listening to the podcast Follow the NFL,
- 10:31Speaker 1: has a very different rise to where he became basically
- 10:35Speaker 1: the head of the Houston Texans over the past few years.
- 10:37Speaker 1: His rise was he was a team chaplain, okay with
- 10:41Speaker 1: the Chiefs, and he was known as a character coach
- 10:44Speaker 1: and during the Belcher stuff that all went down, he
- 10:46Speaker 1: was a key part of that Chief's building to keep
- 10:50Speaker 1: the team together and to find ways to get through grief.
- 10:54Speaker 1: And was there this masterful young man with a bunch
- 10:57Speaker 1: of kids who are going through something that a lot
- 10:59Speaker 1: of them the first major tragedy in their life. Ends
- 11:03Speaker 1: up with the Patriots where he is a beloved Patriots
- 11:06Speaker 1: staffer and starts this title as like character coach, and
- 11:10Speaker 1: it was kind of this innocuous, vague thing. And when
- 11:14Speaker 1: Nick Serrio goes from New England to Houston, one of
- 11:18Speaker 1: the main reasons he went was because Jack Easterby was
- 11:22Speaker 1: in Houston and Jack was a big Hey, Nick, you
- 11:26Speaker 1: gotta leave New England after twenty years have been under Belichick.
- 11:28Speaker 1: You gotta be RGM and he goes over there. Now,
- 11:30Speaker 1: in the last few years since Jack has gotten there,
- 11:33Speaker 1: Bill O'Brien's been fired, multiple staffers have left. We had
- 11:37Speaker 1: to Deshaun Watson situation go down the Deshaun Watson. There's
- 11:41Speaker 1: been a cloud of just darkness over there, and a
- 11:44Speaker 1: lot of people began looking at well, who is this
- 11:47Speaker 1: Jack Easterby and why does he have so much of
- 11:49Speaker 1: a say in Houston. This was a guy who was
- 11:51Speaker 1: a team chaplain and a character coach. Why is he
- 11:54Speaker 1: an executive and the truth the matter is, I think
- 11:59Speaker 1: Jack got a real negative light in the media, and
- 12:01Speaker 1: I think there was a little bit of skepticism. There
- 12:05Speaker 1: was some cynical behavior around it. Then there was some
- 12:07Speaker 1: rumors coming out that Jack wasn't all about the character.
- 12:11Speaker 1: It was all about Jack, and it it was all about Jack.
- 12:12Speaker 1: And I just would say that I've met Jack Easterby.
- 12:14Speaker 1: I think he's a relentlessly positive person. I think he
- 12:18Speaker 1: has been nothing but kind to me and our brief dealings.
- 12:21Speaker 1: But I go by the people who worked with him,
- 12:23Speaker 1: and you talk to those people in New England. Jack
- 12:26Speaker 1: Easterby is one of the most beloved guys from that
- 12:28Speaker 1: I'm talking about. Jason mccordy, my co host of Good
- 12:31Speaker 1: Morning Football. Don't think I have any problem with me
- 12:33Speaker 1: saying on the record when I said, oh, Jack Easterby
- 12:35Speaker 1: got fired, like man, Jack's my guy. Jack. Jack does things.
- 12:37Speaker 1: He got away with people, away with players and the media.
- 12:41Speaker 1: Right now, Paul, and this is such a random topic,
- 12:43Speaker 1: but you're here, and I think there's it's big picture
- 12:45Speaker 1: and a lot of stuff, especially in the world of
- 12:47Speaker 1: Hollywood and all this things like there's a narrative and
- 12:50Speaker 1: everyone takes their shots. And there was a pile on
- 12:51Speaker 1: last yesterday on Twitter when he got fired like oh good,
- 12:54Speaker 1: like it's great, like Dick I should never have been
- 12:55Speaker 1: in charge anyway, he knowed the credentials. I felt like
- 12:58Speaker 1: there was a bit of like a strange jealousy almost
- 13:01Speaker 1: that this guy took a path that wasn't the typical
- 13:03Speaker 1: route to get where he is. And so I would
- 13:06Speaker 1: just say this, take a second. This man just got
- 13:09Speaker 1: got fired like that sucks, and before everyone his piles
- 13:12Speaker 1: on Jack Easterby. He's gonna be back. He's got a
- 13:14Speaker 1: lot of fans in this league. And I don't think
- 13:16Speaker 1: there's a bad bone in his body. And I just
- 13:18Speaker 1: thought it was bizarre to see the what's the word shutten, fraud?
- 13:21Speaker 1: What's the word fred? When he got fired? So I know,
- 13:25Speaker 1: is that a good take? I feel like I'm a
- 13:27Speaker 1: person also, it sounds like a good take to me.
- 13:29Speaker 1: I didn't know who he was. Yeah, fourth down, No,
- 13:35Speaker 1: I think he made some salient points. Fourth down? All right,
- 13:39Speaker 1: you're ready? Yeah, Hey, who do you want to shout out?
- 13:42Speaker 1: I want to shout out Robert Kraft's wedding planner and
- 13:45Speaker 1: give some that seemed like the coolest thing. Apparently it
- 13:48Speaker 1: happened very jack there's a Jackie Easter be somewhere working
- 13:53Speaker 1: working those wedding planners. What can we get Elton? Yes,
- 13:55Speaker 1: he's available on Friday. Can we get Sheer and get
- 13:58Speaker 1: him in? That picture of Meek mill ed Shearon and
- 14:01Speaker 1: Elton John was pretty badass. And then they get the
- 14:03Speaker 1: photo of all of the different ex patriots and current
- 14:07Speaker 1: Patriotcy and Slater and David Andrews and of course Devin
- 14:10Speaker 1: mccordy there with Bledsoe and Brady. It looked awesome. He
- 14:14Speaker 1: marries his girlfriend, doctor Dana Bloomberg. I want to say
- 14:17Speaker 1: her name is Dana? Is that right? Guys? I think
- 14:19Speaker 1: so let's Google check that. We could always leave it
- 14:21Speaker 1: in and I'm just gonna nod my head and say
- 14:23Speaker 1: that's right. I want to get the bride's name right.
- 14:25Speaker 1: But Dana Bloomberg doctor. They met at I think Kenyon
- 14:29Speaker 1: Ranch up in Lennox or like one of those things.
- 14:31Speaker 1: They met and they fell in love and they're married.
- 14:33Speaker 1: But that turnout on a Friday and apparently was a
- 14:36Speaker 1: quick turnaround. I don't know if I'm breaking news, but
- 14:38Speaker 1: Jason mccordy's brother was there and said that Devin got
- 14:40Speaker 1: an email on like Wednesday and was like, there's a
- 14:44Speaker 1: surprise wedding or a surprise event and you're being asked
- 14:47Speaker 1: to come, and he's like, well, I can't go. I
- 14:48Speaker 1: got a game. It's like no, no, mister Kraft insists
- 14:52Speaker 1: that you go, and like everyone just went. And I
- 14:53Speaker 1: don't know if everyone knew it was a wedding. Bon
- 14:56Speaker 1: Jovi in the house, Drew Bledsoe in the house, Vince Wilfork,
- 14:59Speaker 1: Randy Moss, your thoughts. I bet it was a blast
- 15:05Speaker 1: right azzletop to the crafts right and and uh, I
- 15:11Speaker 1: believe it was at the Loomier. Wasn't it at the
- 15:13Speaker 1: climped What is that? I don't know that. It doesn't
- 15:18Speaker 1: tell you something right now, Peter. Uh, it's an amazing exhibit.
- 15:21Speaker 1: I saw it in Paris years ago. They project climp
- 15:25Speaker 1: on the walls and who's climtpiece and artists. Yeah, and uh,
- 15:30Speaker 1: there's another there's another van Go. They were doing a
- 15:32Speaker 1: similar kind of thing where it's like this immersive art experience. No,
- 15:36Speaker 1: I don't know if they were showing it during the wedding,
- 15:39Speaker 1: but it's really worth. I think what my big takeaway
- 15:42Speaker 1: from the Graft wedding is that everyone should really try
- 15:45Speaker 1: and see this climp pie. It's incredible. Uh what do
- 15:50Speaker 1: you make of these these protesters with the oil and
- 15:53Speaker 1: the van go Like? I was upset when I saw it. No,
- 15:56Speaker 1: I don't want to talk politics, but no, what you
- 15:58Speaker 1: mean like people that are like throwing things on art
- 16:00Speaker 1: and painting to make us stay? Give me a break?
- 16:05Speaker 1: But I mean, like, what's what are you trying to do?
- 16:07Speaker 1: That was upset? Look, man, I saw the guy go
- 16:11Speaker 1: down on the field when Bobby Wagner took him out,
- 16:13Speaker 1: and he's running around with a big pink thing and
- 16:15Speaker 1: he's like now he's suing because he got a concussion.
- 16:17Speaker 1: It's like, dude, you jumped on the field during a game.
- 16:20Speaker 1: Aren't all bets off? Yeah? So I don't know this
- 16:24Speaker 1: this Like, I'm all about protests and speaking up and
- 16:29Speaker 1: truth fighting power in every single way. But man, leave
- 16:33Speaker 1: the paintings alone. Yeah, come on, come on, shout out
- 16:37Speaker 1: anybody who work down. You can shout out anybody in
- 16:40Speaker 1: the league. Anything is on the spot, oh man, anything
- 16:44Speaker 1: anyone an announcer, a player, a coach. You watch football
- 16:48Speaker 1: as much as anybody. We text all Sundays and you've
- 16:50Speaker 1: got like insights. You're like, are you watching Texans Colts.
- 16:53Speaker 1: I'm like no, I'm not. Um, yeah, there's so many,
- 16:57Speaker 1: so many. This is oh, this is real pressure. Uh,
- 17:00Speaker 1: you know, a shout out James Palmer, James Palmer from
- 17:04Speaker 1: the NFL network going on and Tom Pellacero, let's go
- 17:08Speaker 1: go down. The roster will sell. But these guys that
- 17:11Speaker 1: are just funny bringing us information. Great hair, great hair,
- 17:17Speaker 1: doesn't doesn't move. And by the way, uh obviously with
- 17:21Speaker 1: like Pellisero always with a nice backdrop, beautiful, it's like
- 17:25Speaker 1: he's he's like he's zooming in from peer one. I know. Um,
- 17:29Speaker 1: he's got a tasteful uh and uh like little Isocily's triangles,
- 17:35Speaker 1: the pictures, like it's not even about putting up like
- 17:37Speaker 1: the football stuff. It's it's classic very CB two. You're right,
- 17:41Speaker 1: that's that's Pelisaro. I didn't have the giant gears behind
- 17:45Speaker 1: Jeremiah Daniel Jeremie that I wasn't sure of, like a mechanics,
- 17:48Speaker 1: I didn't. It's like, yeah, what is what's what's what
- 17:50Speaker 1: is that? Yeah? Yeah, so uh that's my shout out,
- 17:54Speaker 1: actually Pelisaro's uh aesthetic back his background. It's a shout
- 18:00Speaker 1: out to his wife, Sarah, she's killing it too. Way
- 18:01Speaker 1: to go, Sarah. Yeah, and I would also like to
- 18:04Speaker 1: shout out Sarah being of Sarah's Uh Sarah Walsh, Yeah,
- 18:08Speaker 1: whose husband caught the ball? Yes, Matt Bushman, Matt Bushman
- 18:13Speaker 1: to just give the ball back? Do we have to
- 18:15Speaker 1: tell the story? Okay? So here's having h Sarah Walls.
- 18:17Speaker 1: She was an announcer on NFL network or reporter. She's great,
- 18:20Speaker 1: has filled in on Good Morning Football multiple times. And
- 18:23Speaker 1: it's a story. It's a it's a it's a it's
- 18:24Speaker 1: a weird of a context. But let's explain it. Well.
- 18:26Speaker 1: When Aaron Judge hit me tied the record, right, her
- 18:30Speaker 1: husband is the bullpen coach of the Toronto Blue Jays
- 18:33Speaker 1: and had the ball in his hand, the number sixty two,
- 18:36Speaker 1: and he gave the ball back to Aaron Judge then
- 18:39Speaker 1: gave it to his mom and or sixty one and
- 18:41Speaker 1: uh and um and there was a big you know,
- 18:46Speaker 1: absolutely what a cool move. And I would like to
- 18:50Speaker 1: shout out that guy for doing the right thing. Way
- 18:53Speaker 1: to go, Sarah, Props to your husband. Good for you
- 18:58Speaker 1: and you two. Yes, great moments in NFL network history. Um,
- 19:03Speaker 1: not as important as Bella Sarah's back drop. No, who
- 19:07Speaker 1: are the climp? Climp? Climp? Oh my god? Could you
- 19:10Speaker 1: imagine pl Sara is able to get some climp projection,
- 19:13Speaker 1: not backdrop, the projected on a zoom. There's got to
- 19:18Speaker 1: be some legal repercussion there made the Hall of Loomiers
- 19:21Speaker 1: can't do that. But but if he can get a
- 19:23Speaker 1: climp projection on a zoom. And Tom's reports are usually
- 19:26Speaker 1: like in rule book nine four six roughing the passer dictated,
- 19:30Speaker 1: all of a sudden, climp comes in. Cheers, cheers to
- 19:36Speaker 1: Tom free talking about it all right, Uh, let's get like,
- 19:43Speaker 1: how did you and I meet? And I guess let's
- 19:46Speaker 1: go back to Super Bowl in Atlanta, Rams Patriots. Um,
- 19:52Speaker 1: I'm there on behalf of the NFL network. And it
- 19:55Speaker 1: was right after you gave Mahomes the MVP award with
- 19:59Speaker 1: the jacket, right yeah. And it was the next day
- 20:02Speaker 1: and it's at the Super Bowl and I go up
- 20:05Speaker 1: to the my seats and I see this this guy
- 20:10Speaker 1: waving me down and I'm like, that guy looks like
- 20:11Speaker 1: Paul Rudd, who is that and he's waving me down.
- 20:13Speaker 1: I'm like, who is that, Paul, And it was you
- 20:16Speaker 1: to call me over and be like, love your stuff
- 20:19Speaker 1: on Good Morning Football. I was I fan boyed out.
- 20:23Speaker 1: It would also you guys were all together and I
- 20:26Speaker 1: watched the show every morning, which I'd like to talk
- 20:28Speaker 1: to you about that. I have a thought about that
- 20:30Speaker 1: I want I wanted to bring up to you, but
- 20:33Speaker 1: I had you know, I've been watching the show for
- 20:36Speaker 1: years now, Good Morning Football, NFL Network. If you're listening,
- 20:39Speaker 1: watch it. It's a good show seven to ten, and honestly,
- 20:42Speaker 1: it's like, oh gosh. Years ago, I decided I'm done
- 20:45Speaker 1: with waking up to the news. This is just too bleak.
- 20:48Speaker 1: And I would watch the show and I just thought,
- 20:50Speaker 1: you guys are so great together, and it's so fun
- 20:53Speaker 1: watching the show, and it's funny and informative and and
- 20:56Speaker 1: you know, now it's just part of my day every
- 20:59Speaker 1: single day. And so when I saw you there at
- 21:01Speaker 1: the Super Bowl, I just got so super excited and
- 21:05Speaker 1: I ran over to you guys. You know, it was fond,
- 21:08Speaker 1: It was great, and it was me, Nate and Kyle
- 21:10Speaker 1: at the time, and you're hugging us and we're having
- 21:12Speaker 1: this blast and then Nate's like okay, um cool, and
- 21:15Speaker 1: like you were like, I'm down to hang guy, and
- 21:17Speaker 1: we were so thrilled. Yeah, you're probably just like we
- 21:19Speaker 1: get it, dude, you watch the show. Meanwhile, I had
- 21:23Speaker 1: just that I'll go back because I remember exactly what's
- 21:25Speaker 1: going on. My heart was beating because I had just
- 21:27Speaker 1: been on the field and McVeigh is like my guy,
- 21:29Speaker 1: and we just talked and he gave me this look
- 21:31Speaker 1: like I think we got this. And I came up
- 21:33Speaker 1: to the to the seats afterwards and I like went
- 21:35Speaker 1: to every single person. I'm like, I think the Rams
- 21:37Speaker 1: are going to just handle Belichick today and then the
- 21:40Speaker 1: rest is history. Belichick did not go, but McVeigh does
- 21:43Speaker 1: get his ring. Last year, which you did not go
- 21:45Speaker 1: to the Super Bowl, are you done with any non
- 21:47Speaker 1: Chief super Bowl? Is? I didn't go to the super
- 21:49Speaker 1: Bowl because I had gone to the I had gone
- 21:51Speaker 1: to the Chiefs Bengals game. That's right, was crushing, that
- 21:55Speaker 1: was right. I'm like, I'm not gone. Why would I
- 21:57Speaker 1: ever go to the super Bowl after that? Yeah? So
- 22:00Speaker 1: I wasn't. I wasn't. Um. So we've always been friendly
- 22:03Speaker 1: since we text and all this stuff. I gotta say,
- 22:06Speaker 1: like coming into this season, it's it hasn't been as
- 22:09Speaker 1: wide open before as it is right now. Six weeks
- 22:12Speaker 1: into this season, there's like parody all over the place.
- 22:15Speaker 1: Your favorite story in the NFL season right now is what?
- 22:19Speaker 1: Oh man, my favorite story? Yeah? Like what like Jets,
- 22:24Speaker 1: Giants and what Chiefs, Bills Eagles? Um, oh my god, no,
- 22:32Speaker 1: it's probably mean like my favorite stories are always to
- 22:34Speaker 1: do with like just like the the players players that
- 22:38Speaker 1: Bailey Zappy, Bailey Zappy isn't that great? Isn't it great?
- 22:43Speaker 1: I mean, is that could exist? Yeah, in like this
- 22:46Speaker 1: billion dollars industry, that Bailey Zappy could be the story? Um,
- 22:51Speaker 1: he looks twelve years I know. It is like Buzz
- 22:54Speaker 1: looks like Buzz light Year. No, one of those he's like,
- 22:58Speaker 1: it's like one. He looks like kind of like a
- 23:01Speaker 1: like a like an a TV actor from the fifties,
- 23:04Speaker 1: like a that would be like on a and It's
- 23:06Speaker 1: the Menace kind of show or like Dobe Gillis or
- 23:09Speaker 1: something like. He's just he's so kind of it's cherubic. Yeah. Um,
- 23:15Speaker 1: but I don't know I was Bailey's app That's not
- 23:17Speaker 1: my favorite story. I mean, like I I don't know,
- 23:19Speaker 1: there's um, you know, it's it's it's usually always some
- 23:24Speaker 1: kind of personal story when I and I'm nothing really
- 23:28Speaker 1: like right now, but I like, yeah, I gotta think.
- 23:30Speaker 1: But when somebody who is really the odds are kind
- 23:33Speaker 1: of ye stacked against them, and then they come on
- 23:36Speaker 1: and they just show up. I mean I love seeing Quon. Yeah,
- 23:41Speaker 1: he leaves the NFL and scrimmage and I just after
- 23:44Speaker 1: you know, uh, the last few seasons and the frustrations.
- 23:47Speaker 1: I'm just super excited for that guy. I love him
- 23:50Speaker 1: as a player, and he seems like he's a great guy,
- 23:53Speaker 1: and so I think it's pretty uh pretty cool seeing
- 23:57Speaker 1: One of the things we talk a lot about is
- 24:00Speaker 1: your fantasy team. Yea, and I am one of those guys.
- 24:03Speaker 1: If you're like, all right, let me tell you about
- 24:04Speaker 1: my fantasy team, I immediately shut down and I don't care.
- 24:07Speaker 1: I don't want to know. I have no interest. Yeah,
- 24:08Speaker 1: I mean such a But you're so passionate about your
- 24:13Speaker 1: different leagues because they bring the friends together and it's
- 24:16Speaker 1: like a way you can combine world. I want to
- 24:18Speaker 1: go through two of your league because I know you
- 24:19Speaker 1: got multiple ones, and I want to go through them
- 24:21Speaker 1: and talk about the difference between them, but also the
- 24:23Speaker 1: significance in your life. Let's talk about first what I
- 24:26Speaker 1: call your Labor Day Weekend League. And that's just what
- 24:29Speaker 1: I call it because it's like to me, it's it's
- 24:32Speaker 1: everything wonderful about friendship. Yeah, yeah, well that's exactly that's
- 24:35Speaker 1: exactly right. That's that's what it is. And we started
- 24:38Speaker 1: doing this league many many years ago kind of I
- 24:43Speaker 1: played cards with this group of guys and we would
- 24:45Speaker 1: do it every Tuesday and we meet and play poker
- 24:48Speaker 1: and god, I want to say, maybe this was like
- 24:52Speaker 1: two thousand and seven, eight something like that. I said, guys,
- 24:55Speaker 1: we should do a fantasy football league. And they are like, no,
- 24:59Speaker 1: that's why would we do that. You know, it had
- 25:01Speaker 1: really caught on at that point. I said, no, it's
- 25:03Speaker 1: really fun. We should do it, and and we did,
- 25:06Speaker 1: and we have done it every year since and it's
- 25:08Speaker 1: gotten more and more, um you know, important, I would say,
- 25:12Speaker 1: in our lives, because it does keep us all kind
- 25:14Speaker 1: of connected and together. And we do a live draft.
- 25:17Speaker 1: It used to be that, you know, people, one guy's
- 25:20Speaker 1: a composer who sing songs. He would create these these
- 25:24Speaker 1: amazing orchestrations to slam some guy that he was playing
- 25:28Speaker 1: that week. I mean, the smack talk reached these kind
- 25:31Speaker 1: of epic proportions and that's kind of faded away because
- 25:35Speaker 1: we all just got you know, old and lazy. But
- 25:38Speaker 1: but we're But it's uh, you know, it is a
- 25:41Speaker 1: great thing. It does kind of keep you connected and
- 25:43Speaker 1: it also makes you excited about games you would have
- 25:46Speaker 1: no interest in. The thing I love is the in
- 25:48Speaker 1: person draft. And it's not just a one day thing.
- 25:51Speaker 1: It explain what I mean, it's it's yeah, it's kind
- 25:54Speaker 1: of like the whole weekend it started is before really
- 25:57Speaker 1: anyone was married, right, kids or anything, and so it's like, oh,
- 26:00Speaker 1: we're gonna, you know, we get together for this weekend
- 26:03Speaker 1: and now it's it's an annual event and we do
- 26:06Speaker 1: a live draft and it's um, you know, and for
- 26:09Speaker 1: all of us it's like Christmas. It's the greatest thing.
- 26:12Speaker 1: But you know, I think probably for our wives or families,
- 26:15Speaker 1: it's like you're going away for the weekend over April
- 26:18Speaker 1: Day weekend. Um. Yes, and the actor Richard Kind is
- 26:21Speaker 1: in the league. Uh yeah, well Richard Richard comes to
- 26:25Speaker 1: the to the but he's not in the league. He's one.
- 26:29Speaker 1: He's he's in the he plays cards and he's in
- 26:31Speaker 1: the group, and he's on the he's on the weekly
- 26:35Speaker 1: he's on the weekly Sunday raps that uh you know,
- 26:39Speaker 1: uh my friend Tom and Q writes and so he
- 26:42Speaker 1: gets the rap and uh so he's part of it all.
- 26:45Speaker 1: But oh yeah, yeah, absolutely all right. So there's that one,
- 26:51Speaker 1: and then there's the Marvel League, which is also worth noting.
- 26:57Speaker 1: Can we go through the I mean, I'm not a
- 26:58Speaker 1: name guy, but let's go through the names of the
- 27:00Speaker 1: people in this league and you guys actually keep up
- 27:01Speaker 1: with it as a fantasy league. Yeah, started years ago,
- 27:05Speaker 1: um and it was it was. That was fun this
- 27:09Speaker 1: year when it started, and you and I were we
- 27:11Speaker 1: were together and ridiculous zoom. Well that was because you know,
- 27:15Speaker 1: we started. One of the traditions in that league is
- 27:17Speaker 1: everyone makes a little video before the beginning of the
- 27:20Speaker 1: draft and everyone does kind of like, you know, a
- 27:22Speaker 1: shot and good luck and uh and and and then
- 27:25Speaker 1: we do our our draft. And so Joe Russo, who
- 27:31Speaker 1: directed you know, the end game and a lot of
- 27:34Speaker 1: the Russo brother the Russo brothers, uh said he uh
- 27:39Speaker 1: was going to take us all down in his video
- 27:40Speaker 1: because also he had a cheat sheet given to him
- 27:44Speaker 1: from Matthew Berry. Uh, and so he had one up
- 27:47Speaker 1: on us. And then I made a video saying, well,
- 27:51Speaker 1: you know, cheers you guys, Joe. That is completely unfair.
- 27:54Speaker 1: You can't have that kind of inside information. I think
- 27:56Speaker 1: it's lame. Um. I would never do such a thing.
- 27:59Speaker 1: And then the camera and I just kind of panted over.
- 28:01Speaker 1: You were sitting in the corner saying yeah, talking about
- 28:04Speaker 1: the like way you got the number two pick Yourena
- 28:07Speaker 1: go McCaffrey. So, uh yeah, that was But that league
- 28:10Speaker 1: is yeah, I think it's Chris Evans and Anthony Mackie
- 28:13Speaker 1: and Pratt and a bunch of guys that are in
- 28:16Speaker 1: that kind of and then also, uh, guys that aren't
- 28:19Speaker 1: in um in in Marvel Miles telling Les Teller, Ryan
- 28:24Speaker 1: Reynolds is in it. Um Uh, I want to say,
- 28:27Speaker 1: Krasinski's in it. Yeah, there's um and there's is there
- 28:30Speaker 1: shit Yeah yeah yeah, Garrett Helen awesome, Yeah yeah, big
- 28:37Speaker 1: Vikings fan. Um. Yeah. So it's a it's a real
- 28:40Speaker 1: it's a it's a fun it's a fun group. It's
- 28:42Speaker 1: a great way to keep together. Then all right, I'm
- 28:43Speaker 1: gonna go rapid fire. I'm gonna say a name, and
- 28:46Speaker 1: you tell me something I didn't actually get in my
- 28:48Speaker 1: whole thing. I wanted to talk to you about GMFU.
- 28:50Speaker 1: But it's all right, we're gonna I want to hear it.
- 28:51Speaker 1: There's nothing I love more than hearing about me. Go
- 28:53Speaker 1: what do you? It's not really about you, but it's
- 28:54Speaker 1: just like, Okay, is there somebody that you could talk
- 28:58Speaker 1: to you at the network whereever? It is to just
- 29:03Speaker 1: the commercial breaks, dude, but walcome mile in my shoes
- 29:08Speaker 1: for here, walcom is on my shoes one more time.
- 29:12Speaker 1: I like, there's there's there's well, there's walcomut on my shoes.
- 29:15Speaker 1: But now it is quickly being replaced by I want
- 29:19Speaker 1: to eat eat eat apples and bananas. Uh. Then if
- 29:23Speaker 1: you're listening to this, we have the NFL network. I
- 29:25Speaker 1: don't control the ads. I don't control the coms. And
- 29:27Speaker 1: by the by the way, worthwhile, it's a lot of
- 29:31Speaker 1: cause marketing, you know, but it's it is like it's
- 29:34Speaker 1: just every mornings. I've never been proud to call you
- 29:37Speaker 1: my son. It's say every every commercial break, it's the same.
- 29:41Speaker 1: But the uh, walcome mile in my shoes. It's it's
- 29:45Speaker 1: it's slowly crush. You're like Justes, let's let's get the
- 29:48Speaker 1: come on advertisers, So come on and with a new
- 29:51Speaker 1: new spots on GM and we got Old Trapper. There
- 29:53Speaker 1: are official sponsored cherk right, and I think they should
- 29:56Speaker 1: take over the entire network. I'm fine with the altar.
- 29:58Speaker 1: Tom Petals haven't seen a while, and they used to
- 30:00Speaker 1: be all the time. It was like talking to people, Uh,
- 30:03Speaker 1: how awkward it is to talk about mental health? Awkward
- 30:06Speaker 1: anyw kind of a by the way, don't miss it.
- 30:08Speaker 1: Don't miss it was tonally it was a weird spot.
- 30:11Speaker 1: Everyone was we're gonna do these like goofy. I love
- 30:14Speaker 1: that you're talking about this. Tom Pellas who you really mentioned?
- 30:17Speaker 1: He and I watched the NFL network all day long
- 30:19Speaker 1: and we text every single time walk a mile in
- 30:21Speaker 1: my shoes. It's a commercial and the text is up
- 30:23Speaker 1: to a billion. Yeah it is. It is. By the way,
- 30:26Speaker 1: you could make it a drinking game, even though it's
- 30:28Speaker 1: in the morning. Every time you hear walkom out of
- 30:31Speaker 1: my shoes, take a shot, you will be you will
- 30:33Speaker 1: be blitzed. But remember fifteen Remember for a while like
- 30:35Speaker 1: that womp there it is. AD was on everyone and
- 30:37Speaker 1: I liked it because I'm like, that was a fun ad.
- 30:38Speaker 1: Walcom out of my shoes. Is not that AD? No,
- 30:40Speaker 1: it's it's not. It's also I also I hear it.
- 30:44Speaker 1: I know it's I don't even I don't even know.
- 30:46Speaker 1: I think I could even recognize the visual. I don't
- 30:49Speaker 1: even like shut down just the song. Yeah, all right here,
- 30:53Speaker 1: we're keeping that in. By the way, guys, that's for
- 30:54Speaker 1: everyone the ad sales department. Please, um, let's go rapid fire.
- 30:58Speaker 1: Walcome on in my shoes such an inside like deep
- 31:04Speaker 1: cut to the NFL Network audience, and we appreciate you watching. Um,
- 31:08Speaker 1: I'm gonna say a name. You could take sixty seconds,
- 31:11Speaker 1: two minutes. Okay, tell me something you want the world
- 31:14Speaker 1: to know about this individual? Okay, okay. Number one Patrick Mahomes.
- 31:20Speaker 1: Oh great parents, the nicest, coolest, most awesome parents. I
- 31:28Speaker 1: met them that actually the night that I gave the MVP. Yeah,
- 31:32Speaker 1: and they came up introduced themselves to me afterwards. And
- 31:37Speaker 1: I've seen them at several times since, at the Chiefs
- 31:40Speaker 1: parade at the stadium, and I just you know, you
- 31:45Speaker 1: look at a guy like Patrick Mahomes and think, wow,
- 31:47Speaker 1: that guy really he He's thoughtful, he's considered, he's smarty,
- 31:51Speaker 1: He kind of he answers. Everything's just the right way.
- 31:54Speaker 1: What a great dude. It's because he's his parents are great,
- 31:57Speaker 1: great parents, pretty good football player, He's not bad. Has
- 32:01Speaker 1: he changed your life with the Chiefs fan in a
- 32:02Speaker 1: way that's like you now, like there's no dread, like
- 32:04Speaker 1: you look forward to every game. I can only imagine
- 32:06Speaker 1: having Mahomes that's your quarterback. Let me just say, it
- 32:10Speaker 1: is strange for somebody my age to look at somebody
- 32:14Speaker 1: his age and just love him so much and he's
- 32:17Speaker 1: not in my family. It would be if it wasn't
- 32:21Speaker 1: just for the sports thing. It creepy. Number two Travis Kelsey.
- 32:29Speaker 1: I mean, first of all, everyone knows how great he
- 32:34Speaker 1: is and talks about it. He's the best, best in
- 32:37Speaker 1: the league. But that guy has been kind of MVP
- 32:40Speaker 1: of that dude, Like he's been so good for the
- 32:42Speaker 1: Chiefs for so many years. I always felt like, I
- 32:44Speaker 1: don't think he's getting the props that he really deserves.
- 32:47Speaker 1: He's so clutch and great but also a huge heart.
- 32:52Speaker 1: Every year I do this charity event in Kansas City.
- 32:55Speaker 1: Uh is he's there. He always asks how's your mom?
- 33:00Speaker 1: He asks how my son is. He makes a big
- 33:02Speaker 1: fuss over them late. I love him. He's very sweetheart
- 33:05Speaker 1: is you know? We had this debate and the event
- 33:08Speaker 1: is called the Big Slick in Kansas City and it's
- 33:10Speaker 1: for Kansas City Children's Hospital, Children's Mercy Hospital, and guys
- 33:15Speaker 1: raised three million dollars this summer and it was incredible
- 33:18Speaker 1: and we had a debate. Sorry was actually the crew
- 33:20Speaker 1: was in the name drop again you me and Sean
- 33:22Speaker 1: Evans from Hot Ones debate with his friend Nick who
- 33:25Speaker 1: was the man, and the four of us were in
- 33:27Speaker 1: a debate and the question was if Travis Kelsey never
- 33:29Speaker 1: takes another snap, is he an NFL Pro Football Hall
- 33:31Speaker 1: of Famer? I said, I think he is. I don't
- 33:34Speaker 1: know if he's first ballot, and you jumped out my throat,
- 33:36Speaker 1: Yeah he is, hands down absolutely hall of Famer. Yeah,
- 33:41Speaker 1: first ballot, I think so. Yeah, all right. Number three
- 33:44Speaker 1: Alex Smith probably the most underappreciated, like the classiest player
- 33:52Speaker 1: in the league and was no one ever talked about.
- 33:55Speaker 1: That guy won everywhere he went and he would kind
- 33:57Speaker 1: of like then in Leaves, San Francisco just and he
- 34:01Speaker 1: just never spoke badly about anybody. I could only imagine
- 34:03Speaker 1: what was going through his mind. And uh and was
- 34:07Speaker 1: just always and has always been the classiest guy and
- 34:11Speaker 1: has been a huge part. I mean, I think we
- 34:14Speaker 1: all love Mahomes so much, and obviously what he has
- 34:17Speaker 1: done overshadows everything else. It's almost the came before him.
- 34:22Speaker 1: But you know, Mahomes was there and for a year
- 34:27Speaker 1: with Alex, who said, look kind of wasn't threatened and
- 34:31Speaker 1: embraced and h doesn't go always that way. And I
- 34:34Speaker 1: was always you know, when the Chiefs won the Super Bowl,
- 34:36Speaker 1: I I I was like, I just wanted somebody know, Hey, Alex,
- 34:42Speaker 1: you know you're part of this too, if you're watching, Yeah, yeah,
- 34:45Speaker 1: I love it. Was in the parade, James Palmer was
- 34:47Speaker 1: interviewing I think with mj Acosta Louise at the time,
- 34:50Speaker 1: and they were interviewing you, and you shouted out at
- 34:52Speaker 1: the parade like, hey, while we're all here celebrating, shout
- 34:55Speaker 1: out to Alex Smith. I thought it was pretty classy. Yeah,
- 34:57Speaker 1: I thought, you know, he was a part. He was
- 34:59Speaker 1: a part of that team, a big part of that team.
- 35:01Speaker 1: And uh so you know, I was like, you say,
- 35:05Speaker 1: they like that they and same with the injury. It's
- 35:08Speaker 1: like my heart breaks from Alex Smith and it has
- 35:09Speaker 1: several times during his career, and I just he's such
- 35:12Speaker 1: a great dude and I hope everything is great in
- 35:15Speaker 1: his life. Another Chief Dustin cole Quit. Oh what I mean,
- 35:21Speaker 1: pump one hilarious guy. Great guy. Uh. When I've gone
- 35:26Speaker 1: back to Kansas City for Christmas and I'm saying my
- 35:29Speaker 1: sister's house, he would bring over a mattress so that
- 35:32Speaker 1: you know we had enough rooms because we didn't have
- 35:34Speaker 1: enough mattresses. He's just a very He's a very charitable, uh,
- 35:39Speaker 1: sweet guy who used to live next He used to
- 35:41Speaker 1: live down the street from my mom, and we're still friends.
- 35:44Speaker 1: He was probably like my closest friend on the Chiefs
- 35:46Speaker 1: who I still talked to. Great. Great feel I don't
- 35:48Speaker 1: have like super great type friends on the team. I'm
- 35:51Speaker 1: a fan before I'm a friend of it, but I
- 35:53Speaker 1: have met some. But Dustin is a certainly a friend
- 35:55Speaker 1: of mine. You know, I'm dissolved in and you and
- 35:58Speaker 1: post malone. I feel like I have a vague memory
- 36:00Speaker 1: of you telling me a story about all you guys
- 36:01Speaker 1: partying was that with cole Quit. It was this was
- 36:04Speaker 1: the most surreal thing, like it was that night the
- 36:07Speaker 1: Chiefs parade went there for the super Bowl was in
- 36:10Speaker 1: Kansas City and Dustin cole Quit and I went met
- 36:14Speaker 1: up with Mahomes and Kelsey and that night and went
- 36:19Speaker 1: and post Malone was in town and we went to
- 36:21Speaker 1: see post Malone and then post Malone was wearing at
- 36:24Speaker 1: Patrick mahomes Jersey uh during the concert, and then afterwards
- 36:27Speaker 1: I met him up by the way. Greg is a sweetheart.
- 36:31Speaker 1: What a great guy he is, he really is, He
- 36:33Speaker 1: really is super nice. All right. Tammy Reid, Andy's wife
- 36:37Speaker 1: originally from Rhinebeck, New York, really New Yorker didn't know. Yeah,
- 36:41Speaker 1: and hilarious. I don't think people know this. Like he's
- 36:45Speaker 1: a bigger character than any of the Chiefs. Oh my god.
- 36:47Speaker 1: She is er, I mean, and at every league meeting everything,
- 36:52Speaker 1: when it's the family, she is the star. Yeah. She's
- 36:56Speaker 1: really funny, she's very sweet, remembers everybody's names, really goes
- 37:00Speaker 1: out of her way to make you feel like a
- 37:02Speaker 1: part of it. And she's awesome. All right, let's go
- 37:05Speaker 1: down the hall. He would write a little bit. No, finally,
- 37:08Speaker 1: I was wondering if we can finally stop talking football.
- 37:11Speaker 1: Robert Downey Junior. Okay, by the way, here's the thing.
- 37:14Speaker 1: You're naming all these people, and I'm like just praising
- 37:16Speaker 1: all of them, but they really do warrant the praise.
- 37:18Speaker 1: Robert Downey Jr. Is somebody that I'm kind of really
- 37:22Speaker 1: awed by. Really truly he is. I don't know many
- 37:29Speaker 1: people that could be in that position and be able
- 37:32Speaker 1: to like be that magnanimous and handle it and just
- 37:36Speaker 1: be as kind of thoughtful as he is. When we
- 37:41Speaker 1: were filming Endgame, he would bring everybody to kind of
- 37:46Speaker 1: his area, Like he had the trailers and he had
- 37:48Speaker 1: this little camp set up. He would host lunch for everybody.
- 37:51Speaker 1: Imagine there's a lot of stars there, but he was
- 37:54Speaker 1: like the leader. He was I think he's but for
- 37:57Speaker 1: sure totally the captain and I think and everybody and
- 38:00Speaker 1: he would host lunch. What does that mean? He would
- 38:02Speaker 1: like during our lunch breaks, he would hire a chef
- 38:05Speaker 1: or sometimes like a uh like I think I last
- 38:08Speaker 1: day I hired a bluegrass band play. He would he
- 38:10Speaker 1: would just kind of host a party for everybody, and
- 38:15Speaker 1: every day he was just such a Yeah, the captain
- 38:18Speaker 1: is a good way to put it. I'm I really
- 38:21Speaker 1: love that guy. He's great. Julia Roberts. Oh, she's about
- 38:25Speaker 1: as real as it gets. Let me tell us, let
- 38:28Speaker 1: me tell you something. Talk about another person that I
- 38:32Speaker 1: am absolutely crazy about. We did a play together, okay,
- 38:37Speaker 1: and um, I don't know, was in two thousand and
- 38:39Speaker 1: six or something like that, Broadway like New York. Yeah,
- 38:41Speaker 1: oh yeah, oh no, sir, please, yes, of course summer
- 38:46Speaker 1: come on, come on, what away at the Round Wharf?
- 38:49Speaker 1: Uh No, it's weird. I did a play and it
- 38:53Speaker 1: was great. It was very It was exciting because it
- 38:55Speaker 1: was the Julia Roberts play on Broadway. It was a
- 38:57Speaker 1: big deal and there was just three of us in
- 38:59Speaker 1: the cast, and nobody cared about the two other guys
- 39:01Speaker 1: who was It was easy because it was like, oh,
- 39:03Speaker 1: we're with pressure the other guy, Bradley Cooper. So Bradley
- 39:08Speaker 1: Cooper and I were the two guys in the Julia
- 39:09Speaker 1: Roberts play. And by the way, he's great too, great,
- 39:14Speaker 1: that's great. But no, Julia Roberts. I will still talk
- 39:17Speaker 1: to she and her husband and her you know, our
- 39:20Speaker 1: kids were like the same age, and she is She's
- 39:26Speaker 1: just so great. And and real. She really is truly
- 39:32Speaker 1: real And every time you know, you always say she'll
- 39:34Speaker 1: do an interview, she goes, all the best things I
- 39:36Speaker 1: can do for my kids is love their dad and
- 39:38Speaker 1: just everything she says. You're like, God, you You're you
- 39:42Speaker 1: are so right it mean to be able to navigate
- 39:44Speaker 1: the career she's had and be as kind of real
- 39:47Speaker 1: and cool and grounded as she is as a real
- 39:50Speaker 1: testament to the headline came out so about spoiling anything
- 39:53Speaker 1: you are going to be in season three of a
- 39:56Speaker 1: certain popular show involving Steve Martin and Martin Short, can
- 40:02Speaker 1: I say Marty Schartz name and just give you the microphone? Oh? Well,
- 40:07Speaker 1: I mean, do we have another hour to talk about Martin?
- 40:13Speaker 1: Uncle Marty, Uncle Marty. Uh, nobody's funnier nobody. He is
- 40:18Speaker 1: the warmest, greatest guy who can just cut you down
- 40:23Speaker 1: with the funniest insult. Um. He is so easy to
- 40:28Speaker 1: be around. Uh, you know, I still kind of can't
- 40:32Speaker 1: believe that I know him. Yeah. Um. And first of all,
- 40:35Speaker 1: working with Martin Short and Steve Martin, that's is it surreal?
- 40:38Speaker 1: And those are guys that you're too comedy like? They
- 40:40Speaker 1: absolutely that's mount Rushmore. I mean, Steve Martin has probably
- 40:43Speaker 1: had more of an effect on my life from just
- 40:46Speaker 1: more than anybody else alive really, from what like the
- 40:49Speaker 1: jerk and rock said, like his comedy records when I
- 40:53Speaker 1: was a kid. Yeah, I mean I just think I
- 40:54Speaker 1: remember listening to those albums and I think it was
- 40:57Speaker 1: the first time I realized he's making a living talking. Yeah,
- 41:01Speaker 1: and he's so funny, and my god, that's just he
- 41:03Speaker 1: just had a real kind of profound effect on me.
- 41:07Speaker 1: Still does. I can't believe that I can ever even
- 41:11Speaker 1: be in the same if you like text with those guys,
- 41:14Speaker 1: like you have like communication with them. I feel like
- 41:16Speaker 1: they're like, like you said, Mount Rushmore, but it's like
- 41:18Speaker 1: the satellite, They're like these figures that just like loom
- 41:21Speaker 1: large Well absolutely, and um, you know, uh Martin short,
- 41:27Speaker 1: I've known now a little while longer. Um, and he's
- 41:32Speaker 1: just I don't know, man, he's really good at kind
- 41:35Speaker 1: of putting you at ease. And I just really I
- 41:39Speaker 1: really love that guy. And not just I mean it's
- 41:42Speaker 1: now gote to point where it's like, oh, I mean,
- 41:44Speaker 1: of course I'm a fan, like every single person in
- 41:46Speaker 1: the world, but I mean as a human being. Um,
- 41:49Speaker 1: I really really love him. He's everybody does. It's it.
- 41:55Speaker 1: I can't speak any higher of a human being than
- 41:57Speaker 1: Martin Short. You've hosted SNL now how many times? Five
- 42:01Speaker 1: Five Timers Club? You got the jack. It was kind
- 42:04Speaker 1: of a weird deal. It was the only show in
- 42:07Speaker 1: SNL history that that got canceled the day up. It
- 42:10Speaker 1: was like you Hanks and Tina fe and then who
- 42:12Speaker 1: were you know? It was the Five Timers. It was
- 42:14Speaker 1: the Five Timers thing. So there was a big monologue
- 42:17Speaker 1: and a big sketch and all of that, and so
- 42:19Speaker 1: Tom Hanks was there. He was going to be in
- 42:21Speaker 1: it and if it was going to be in it,
- 42:22Speaker 1: and so they were in the studio and then the
- 42:25Speaker 1: and then it the show got canceled and they were
- 42:27Speaker 1: already there, so we had to kind of scramble and
- 42:30Speaker 1: figure out, okay, what do we do? So none of
- 42:33Speaker 1: the sketches really aired, and we had made a couple
- 42:35Speaker 1: of short yeah for the show, but you know, it
- 42:38Speaker 1: was it was interesting. It was I mean, my god,
- 42:41Speaker 1: it really was an incredible thing to be around and
- 42:43Speaker 1: see that, to see how, okay, what do you do now?
- 42:46Speaker 1: Yea to the world opened up again, and it thought
- 42:50Speaker 1: like that stoke a moment in time. It just happened
- 42:53Speaker 1: that it was like truly like the peak with omicrons, Yeah,
- 42:58Speaker 1: kicked in and everybody was testing positive and it was
- 43:02Speaker 1: really scary, and it was right before the holidays and
- 43:05Speaker 1: everything started to change, and it was like truly a
- 43:08Speaker 1: one week window where it really spiked, or two weeks,
- 43:11Speaker 1: and it just so happened that it was that day.
- 43:14Speaker 1: I mean, they were every single day of that week.
- 43:17Speaker 1: It's like, okay, let's look at the numbers hopefully hopefully,
- 43:20Speaker 1: you know, and and had it been Friday, we probably
- 43:23Speaker 1: would have been okay. But it just happened in this
- 43:25Speaker 1: moment in time. It's the wheels kind of quick trivia.
- 43:29Speaker 1: So was it Charlie XCX was supposed to be that? Okay?
- 43:32Speaker 1: Can you name the other musical guests from the four
- 43:35Speaker 1: times that you've hosted previously my music? Oh? Absolutely? Like
- 43:40Speaker 1: you remember like every yeah, well I've had Killer let
- 43:42Speaker 1: me he's okay. So the first time I hosted it
- 43:44Speaker 1: was Beyonce? How was she? How was Miss Noel? Super cool?
- 43:49Speaker 1: You know? There's that that very famous sketch that she
- 43:52Speaker 1: does the single Ladies and that justin two make shows
- 43:55Speaker 1: up and I was that I was in that sketch.
- 43:56Speaker 1: Was the first time I ever hosted S and L
- 43:58Speaker 1: and um and so I was the director of that
- 44:00Speaker 1: music video. Not my part gets cut off usually, which
- 44:05Speaker 1: is fine, but uh, she was great and my god
- 44:09Speaker 1: to see her also like doing the sound checks and
- 44:12Speaker 1: seeing her sing, and personally, my god. She lives in
- 44:14Speaker 1: New York. Do you guys ever bumped into each other
- 44:18Speaker 1: the second time? I picture there's like an Illuminati meeting
- 44:21Speaker 1: where she like and brings you in. Well, I'm sure
- 44:23Speaker 1: that those meetings happen. I just I don't get that call. No,
- 44:27Speaker 1: there's this guy that hosted performed one time. Let's him.
- 44:30Speaker 1: I don't get those fun But the second time, which
- 44:34Speaker 1: was it will never be beat and I'll never forget.
- 44:38Speaker 1: It was weeks before I was hosting my phone rings
- 44:41Speaker 1: at one in the morning, and it was Bill Hayter
- 44:45Speaker 1: calling me, uh, saying, um, dude, uh, do you know
- 44:52Speaker 1: you know who your musical guest is? Who you're gonna be?
- 44:55Speaker 1: And and I said, no, niggas, Yes, Well, I'm sorry
- 44:58Speaker 1: for calling so late, but I just found out it's
- 45:01Speaker 1: gonna be Paul McCartney so I did like shot up
- 45:05Speaker 1: and then and I didn't go back to sleep, and
- 45:08Speaker 1: I was so excited. And um, you know we've talked
- 45:13Speaker 1: about this in the past, Uh that like the Beatles
- 45:17Speaker 1: as well, either the greatest band of all time and yes,
- 45:19Speaker 1: absolutely and Paul McCartney forget it to talk about just
- 45:25Speaker 1: I mean what we can say about Paul McCarney it
- 45:27Speaker 1: hasn't been said. Um, but uh, those moments in your life,
- 45:31Speaker 1: if you can ever take a moment and really register
- 45:35Speaker 1: this is one of the greatest moments I'm ever going
- 45:36Speaker 1: to have, um, and just treasure it. I had several
- 45:41Speaker 1: that week. But the way it works on SNL is
- 45:46Speaker 1: that when the band comes in to do a sound
- 45:49Speaker 1: check for the first they don't they don't show up
- 45:51Speaker 1: until Thursday. So Thursdays, the first time they're in the studio,
- 45:55Speaker 1: they're on stage and they're getting set up, and usually
- 45:57Speaker 1: on the stage next next to that, you're the host
- 46:00Speaker 1: is getting their photos taken for all of those bumpers
- 46:03Speaker 1: for the commercials. Right, So I was getting my picture, Hagan,
- 46:08Speaker 1: and then all of a sudden, Paul McCartney's band kind
- 46:10Speaker 1: of comes in starts heading up and they started playing
- 46:14Speaker 1: jet Or. They started playing the song great song, and
- 46:19Speaker 1: I looked at the photographers Maryland and we were like,
- 46:24Speaker 1: we're not taking pictures right now. I gotta go. No,
- 46:26Speaker 1: we're not. So we went and stood on the floor
- 46:28Speaker 1: and watched Paul McCartney practice. And there's probably about fifteen
- 46:33Speaker 1: people there, you know, ten of whom are the camera operators,
- 46:36Speaker 1: and they're trying to figure this out. And so he
- 46:39Speaker 1: does a couple of songs and then they wheel out
- 46:41Speaker 1: onto the floor a piano because he doesn't even know
- 46:44Speaker 1: what he's going to sing on the show. And he
- 46:46Speaker 1: goes down to the floor and there's I haven't met him,
- 46:50Speaker 1: I haven't seen him. I'm just kind of and he
- 46:52Speaker 1: sits down at this bench and I'm standing ten feet
- 46:55Speaker 1: behind Paul McCartney over his shoulder, and he just starts
- 46:59Speaker 1: playing the Long and Winding Road, and I'm looking at
- 47:04Speaker 1: his hands on the keys and thinking, oh my god,
- 47:08Speaker 1: those are the hands that wrote it. Every single time
- 47:12Speaker 1: I've ever heard that song played by the Beatles, it
- 47:15Speaker 1: came from those hands. I was watching his feet on
- 47:18Speaker 1: the pedals and he goes into the long Whining Road,
- 47:24Speaker 1: and you know, more people start kind of drifting into
- 47:27Speaker 1: the room, and he finishes, and everyone applauds, and he says, oh,
- 47:33Speaker 1: thank you, thank you very much, and then he goes
- 47:35Speaker 1: right into Lady Madonna, and then he gave all of
- 47:39Speaker 1: us about I don't know, like a forty five minute
- 47:42Speaker 1: Beatles concern, just sitting there with his piano. And every
- 47:47Speaker 1: once in a while, I have lived such an incredible
- 47:50Speaker 1: I find myself repeatedly, repeatedly in many moments. I mean,
- 47:55Speaker 1: giving the Moms, the MVP, all of these things in
- 47:58Speaker 1: my life, and working with Martin Short and Steve Martin,
- 48:02Speaker 1: you name it. I got to stand next to McCartney
- 48:06Speaker 1: while he played those songs, and I still cannot believe
- 48:12Speaker 1: I got to be in that room when that happened.
- 48:16Speaker 1: It's it's just unreal. So Paul McCartney was my second
- 48:19Speaker 1: guest One Direction, One Direction awesome. I loved him. By
- 48:26Speaker 1: the way, Hey, my favorite sketches is you as the
- 48:29Speaker 1: One Direction super Fans. It was the one sketch that
- 48:32Speaker 1: I pitched. Yeah, Dan Charles, guys just a little a
- 48:36Speaker 1: little too old to be you know the name of
- 48:39Speaker 1: the character in the two sketch you yelling for? Sorry,
- 48:44Speaker 1: but I loved one they were great. They were awesome,
- 48:46Speaker 1: like they were the biggest things in the world. And
- 48:50Speaker 1: I had no real clue. Um we got I was
- 48:54Speaker 1: there to promote We were probably Anchorman two, so Will
- 48:58Speaker 1: and Steve Carell and Keckner they were there too, and
- 49:01Speaker 1: we all sang together in the in the monologue, sang
- 49:06Speaker 1: after Delight with one direction. And I mean I was aware, like,
- 49:08Speaker 1: oh my god, I can't believe I'm getting a sing
- 49:10Speaker 1: with one direction because you know, the whole, the whole
- 49:14Speaker 1: was one of the we drive by thirty rock all
- 49:16Speaker 1: the time. It was peak. Yeah, it was peak for
- 49:17Speaker 1: the listeners, like if you live in New York City,
- 49:20Speaker 1: you know it's a big musical guest or even a
- 49:22Speaker 1: star like a Taylor Swift or one of those. When
- 49:24Speaker 1: on around Wednesday afternoon you start seeing sleeping bags on
- 49:27Speaker 1: sixth Avenue because they're parked out. That had to be
- 49:30Speaker 1: and thens recently had that. Yeah, it was. It was
- 49:33Speaker 1: that kind of pandemonium. And then um and so then yeah,
- 49:36Speaker 1: so then the show ended, and then I and then
- 49:38Speaker 1: we all had to fly, all the Anchorman guys, like
- 49:41Speaker 1: we had to fly to uh, I don't know, Australia
- 49:44Speaker 1: or someplace next to go kind of do more press stuff.
- 49:46Speaker 1: And I remember I got on the plane and you
- 49:48Speaker 1: could had the movies and you got and I watched
- 49:51Speaker 1: the One Direction documentary Like these guys, I'm like, I
- 49:54Speaker 1: like those guy boys. I'm gonna watch their movie. That's it.
- 49:57Speaker 1: I like, I wasn't totally caught up in it. Yeah,
- 49:59Speaker 1: Nile is that his name, by the way. Awesome, awesome Nile.
- 50:05Speaker 1: What a funny grip. They were all great. Zane was shy.
- 50:12Speaker 1: They were but super nice, friendly shy. Uh Harry Styles come,
- 50:18Speaker 1: I mean like that guy was Mick Jagger? Like, oh yeah,
- 50:21Speaker 1: I get it. The last one was an episode that
- 50:23Speaker 1: I actually attended and we saw each other there. Um
- 50:26Speaker 1: was with DJ Kalin and his entire crew and they
- 50:29Speaker 1: were cool too. Oh man, talk about a sweet guy him,
- 50:33Speaker 1: what a great guy. And another one and another and
- 50:36Speaker 1: also that was That was also one where I really
- 50:38Speaker 1: started kind of feeling my age a little bit because
- 50:41Speaker 1: it was Big Sean Yeah, Scissors, uh uh, Meek Mill,
- 50:47Speaker 1: Jay Balvin, I think it was. There were so many people, um,
- 50:53Speaker 1: and I was like, okay, I know some of I know,
- 50:58Speaker 1: my kids know, um, but they were but super friendly,
- 51:02Speaker 1: great And then yeah, and we remember we hung out afterwards,
- 51:05Speaker 1: We went to the party afterwards. Coolest night of my life,
- 51:11Speaker 1: all right. A couple of other names here, all right,
- 51:12Speaker 1: and then we're gonna wrap it up, I promise. Nathan Fielder.
- 51:15Speaker 1: Oh my god, come on, Who's who is funnier than
- 51:19Speaker 1: that guy? And it's now Nathan Fielders, somebody who I
- 51:23Speaker 1: don't know very well, but I know him a little bit. Okay,
- 51:26Speaker 1: how do you know Nathan Fielder? Do? Just like said
- 51:28Speaker 1: an appreciation email and some manager connection. I met him
- 51:30Speaker 1: one time. The first time I met Nathan Fielder was
- 51:33Speaker 1: with he was with Michael Sarah And I know Michael, okay.
- 51:37Speaker 1: And it was actually at that card game that we
- 51:38Speaker 1: played came by and the pub that we would play
- 51:42Speaker 1: cards in in Hell's Kitchen. And this is years ago,
- 51:45Speaker 1: but I I knew he was because I was a
- 51:49Speaker 1: Nathan for You fanatic. That show came out and I thought,
- 51:52Speaker 1: this is the funniest show. And easily ten years this
- 51:56Speaker 1: is one of the funniest things that I've ever seen
- 51:58Speaker 1: it there, it's rare when you get a completely unique,
- 52:03Speaker 1: fully formed comic identity. Nathan Fielder is operating on such
- 52:09Speaker 1: a high level um, and his is so his own
- 52:14Speaker 1: interesting thing and it's so authentic and smart. And I
- 52:20Speaker 1: don't know if you've seen the rehearsal, but I would
- 52:23Speaker 1: encourage everybody to watch that because and watch the entire season,
- 52:26Speaker 1: because it's just unlike anything you've ever seen Nathan Fielder.
- 52:31Speaker 1: I think that what he does is is sublime. Could
- 52:35Speaker 1: he do anything outside of that character? I feel like
- 52:37Speaker 1: he could have Hollywood by the balls if he wanted. Like,
- 52:39Speaker 1: he's so talented and he's so and he's enigmatic, and
- 52:44Speaker 1: I mean, I'm just you know, I'm just such a
- 52:46Speaker 1: huge fan of his and uh. And he's also a
- 52:51Speaker 1: very sweet guy. My kids, my daughter took her school
- 52:54Speaker 1: pictures in grade schools. She wore her Summit Ice hoodie
- 52:58Speaker 1: for her school picture and I told Pat, I said,
- 53:04Speaker 1: by the way, I just like reaching out saying, hey, hey, man, um,
- 53:07Speaker 1: this is my daughter's school picture. I couldn't be more proud.
- 53:10Speaker 1: And he replied, oh, that's it's a great get for
- 53:14Speaker 1: the brand and uh, and then he sent her like
- 53:18Speaker 1: T shirts, swag swag, Summit Ice socks, a Summit Ice hat.
- 53:24Speaker 1: And my son feels this way too. I mean that Nathan,
- 53:27Speaker 1: for you special. It is really special. Yeah, a couple more.
- 53:31Speaker 1: They're so good, all right, Seth Rogan. Oh, Seth Rogan, Okay,
- 53:38Speaker 1: I don't think that there's a person on earth that
- 53:41Speaker 1: is I don't know how you can go through what
- 53:45Speaker 1: Seth Rogan has gone through in his life and remain
- 53:49Speaker 1: has unchanged and really trying to the Hollywood up and down,
- 53:52Speaker 1: what the Korea stuff was, everything, Like this guy's life
- 53:55Speaker 1: has just been like where he is so the same guy,
- 53:58Speaker 1: the same dude. I mean, you look, you could see
- 54:01Speaker 1: Seth Rogan to go. I feel like I know what
- 54:03Speaker 1: that guy's like, and I would tell you you do
- 54:07Speaker 1: you know exactly what he's like. I love I love him,
- 54:11Speaker 1: love him, love him, love him so much. He's so unaffected.
- 54:15Speaker 1: He says exactly what he's feeling. He kind of weirdly
- 54:18Speaker 1: doesn't worry about. I mean, I admire because they'll say
- 54:20Speaker 1: things that like that. It might be an unpossible thing.
- 54:23Speaker 1: Because he wrote a book and I listened to it
- 54:25Speaker 1: on the audiobook recently and I loved it. I don't
- 54:27Speaker 1: remember what it was called. To go find it. Set
- 54:29Speaker 1: the book and he tells a story and it's a
- 54:31Speaker 1: story about a meeting he had with Tom Cruise and
- 54:35Speaker 1: Judd Apata. Do you know this story? I know it
- 54:37Speaker 1: comes there when I wasn't at the meeting, but we
- 54:39Speaker 1: were could he tell this story from vs? But like,
- 54:42Speaker 1: what what is the background? I don't remeber to say? Well,
- 54:46Speaker 1: we were shooting forty year old virgin okay and um
- 54:50Speaker 1: seth uh, I don't know if is this the story
- 54:53Speaker 1: said that the media because hers wants to get involved
- 54:56Speaker 1: in comedy. Well he you know this is he wanted
- 54:59Speaker 1: to meet Judd and it was like, j yeah, Judd Apata,
- 55:02Speaker 1: who hadn't you know this was the first movie Judd
- 55:05Speaker 1: had ever directed, so you know Tom Cruise was in
- 55:08Speaker 1: from the bed he knew early. Um, and yeah, Judd said, uh,
- 55:13Speaker 1: he was gonna go meet Tom Cruise and um, you
- 55:17Speaker 1: don't go along in that trip? Oh god, no, I'm
- 55:19Speaker 1: not gonna mir I wasn't invited and uh but uh
- 55:21Speaker 1: but jud said him going to Cruise, it's a terrible judge.
- 55:25Speaker 1: That's a good Um, I'm gonna I'm gonna go. Jod
- 55:29Speaker 1: always feels like it sounds like he had needs to
- 55:31Speaker 1: blow his nose. I'm gonna go be the Tom Cruise.
- 55:35Speaker 1: So like hater does a good judge. Um. Anyway, Uh,
- 55:40Speaker 1: he was, he was excited. He's gonna go meet Tom
- 55:41Speaker 1: Cruise tomorrow at at his house and uh and and
- 55:46Speaker 1: so he took Seth with him. Why did he take
- 55:47Speaker 1: Seth with him? Like this is my guy, Like we
- 55:50Speaker 1: got so you know, like he'd worked with Seth obviously
- 55:52Speaker 1: had freaks and geeks, and Seth is you know, really
- 55:56Speaker 1: funny and had they they were friends, they'd worked together,
- 55:59Speaker 1: and I don't know, maybe Judd was probably nervous too.
- 56:02Speaker 1: I mean, he was probably nervous to meet Tom Cruise,
- 56:05Speaker 1: just like you know, like the biggest movie star in
- 56:07Speaker 1: the world. And he's like, oh, I got to take this,
- 56:09Speaker 1: and I'll take Seth. And Seth is a kind of
- 56:12Speaker 1: always funny and he's not going to be like he'll
- 56:15Speaker 1: totally dam himself. And uh, I remember it was like
- 56:20Speaker 1: the time when people he just had open he said, no, no,
- 56:25Speaker 1: not that might have just but it was weird, like
- 56:27Speaker 1: there was a time like they had the baby, his daughter,
- 56:30Speaker 1: and but there was a moment in time where like,
- 56:31Speaker 1: we don't know, no one seen the baby and so yeah,
- 56:36Speaker 1: so um, so they went and had this meeting that
- 56:39Speaker 1: night and and then the next day I went to Jed.
- 56:42Speaker 1: I go, so, yeah, he goes, He's great, he goes.
- 56:45Speaker 1: I loved him. He was super nice and funny and
- 56:47Speaker 1: great and um and Seth went to and Seth those
- 56:52Speaker 1: babies real because I saw her and then that's a man,
- 57:00Speaker 1: how is it and says like, oh, yeah it was.
- 57:03Speaker 1: It was weird, dude. He just did talking about weird.
- 57:07Speaker 1: The whole experience was and yeah and then uh and
- 57:10Speaker 1: then we had and I was like, wow, okay, jud
- 57:14Speaker 1: saying it yeah, and like Judd's so good to start
- 57:17Speaker 1: struck and all, and Seth is like, I don't know, man,
- 57:19Speaker 1: I thought it was a totally uncomfortable whole experience. And
- 57:23Speaker 1: then we went on a talk show in Australia to
- 57:26Speaker 1: promote Knocked Up and somebody asked him and he said
- 57:28Speaker 1: the same thing on this live talk show. That's what
- 57:30Speaker 1: I mean. Seth doesn't care. He'll say it. I just weird.
- 57:33Speaker 1: I so respect it, all right, No more people, This
- 57:37Speaker 1: is just the Matt Sue scene. And knocked Up is
- 57:39Speaker 1: so cherished by everybody, especially sports fans, because we've all
- 57:43Speaker 1: been there where you're telling your wife and and she's
- 57:45Speaker 1: thinking or girlfriend, there's something suspicious going on and you
- 57:48Speaker 1: just want to be with the boys. Right the Matt
- 57:51Speaker 1: Sue scene itself, How does Matt Sue's name get mentioned?
- 57:54Speaker 1: What's the okay? So I told we all work on
- 57:57Speaker 1: these scripts together. And I during the time, I said,
- 58:00Speaker 1: I was doing fantasy sports. Judd knows nothing about sports.
- 58:02Speaker 1: I said, we put in a thing with fantasy, you know,
- 58:04Speaker 1: like a fantasy. So so we're kind of construct the
- 58:09Speaker 1: whole thing. Put that it makes the movie. We're gonna
- 58:11Speaker 1: do this scene. Um, and so I because because I
- 58:17Speaker 1: know that, I'm like, all right, I have to nobody
- 58:21Speaker 1: knows even like I have to write out the draft
- 58:23Speaker 1: on the board because I know somebody's gonna freeze it
- 58:26Speaker 1: and they're gonna look, there's no way Carlos Delgado would go.
- 58:29Speaker 1: But by the way, I put Delgado in there. I
- 58:31Speaker 1: put Delgado in there because always like Delgado. I always
- 58:34Speaker 1: liked Delgado because I liked his I liked his his
- 58:37Speaker 1: political stance, and I'm like, good for this guy, Like
- 58:40Speaker 1: I was a fan and his best and his best
- 58:42Speaker 1: friend was Sean green Jew so I loved him. Uh
- 58:46Speaker 1: And but I'm like writing down all of like who uh,
- 58:52Speaker 1: it would go in the first round house. I'm like,
- 58:53Speaker 1: all right, I want to go this and it gets down.
- 58:55Speaker 1: I know Matt Sue. I'm doing the snake draft. I'm
- 58:57Speaker 1: writing it in, I'm writing all the names, and I
- 58:59Speaker 1: know Matt Suey would last for Deckie or Kaz. I
- 59:02Speaker 1: was a Kaz guy. I like it that you want
- 59:03Speaker 1: a seven. It was Hideki all the bit. I know, yeah,
- 59:07Speaker 1: you know, props the cast. But I'm like, I got
- 59:11Speaker 1: Matt Suey one because I thought I got Matt sue
- 59:14Speaker 1: would sound funny. It's like, hey, I got and getting
- 59:18Speaker 1: excited about getting Matt Sue And two I had Matt
- 59:22Speaker 1: Sue and I was stoked. I was like, Matt Sue's awesome.
- 59:26Speaker 1: Plus I also really liked it that came out great play.
- 59:29Speaker 1: I mean, my gosh, you live in New York. I'm like, yeah,
- 59:32Speaker 1: great player, so good. And he also just you know,
- 59:37Speaker 1: it seemed like a great guy. Yeah, so that's who
- 59:40Speaker 1: I want to call out. Oh my god. And it
- 59:41Speaker 1: made the movie and the movie and I'm still there's
- 59:44Speaker 1: probably so many lines you get yelled at you, but
- 59:46Speaker 1: I'm sure, yeah, Matt Sue, it's probably barely ever really barely. Ever,
- 59:52Speaker 1: what's the line you get them? Here's something and this
- 59:54Speaker 1: is you know, uh slap the bass. That's one. That's
- 59:57Speaker 1: one I get. That's the one I get the most.
- 59:59Speaker 1: Um I hit Matt su is super clutch. And when
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: I was doing the play with Julia Roberts, Um, I
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: never met Matt Sue. I don't know that he's tell
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: me he's there back No, no, no, he wasn't. He's
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: got brick a leg uh uh and so but I
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: remember one time calling Julia Roberts like, Jack, you like
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: Matt Sue, You're just your clutch, You're just great name.
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: And so I um, I remember on it was our
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: opening night and I was able to somehow to procure
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: signed signed baseball from Hedeki Matt Sue to Julia Roberts
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: signed I hope. So I haven't thought about it since
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: this story, but I know I've still never met Matt Sue.
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: I'm sure Matt Sue was like, I don't know who
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: he just signed it. I don't know how. I remember
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: I went through their dude Paul Rudd. Getting a Signeddeki
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: Matsui to give to Julia was on Broadway is one
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: of the great random, there's their catcher's coach was Mike
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: Uh at the time on Borg, I was Mike Borders. No,
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: I don't remember. I went through Uh yeah, it was
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: a Yankees. I think the catching no catching coach. I'm
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: blanking on his name, and I feel terrible because I'd
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: love to give him a shout out because he's Mike Borsello.
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: I was like, more borgnzi's miz with the team. So
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: he made that happen. And I think I found him
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: through Joe buck Uh. It was just I was like,
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: I gotta get a sign Matt Suey ball for Julia Roberts. Um,
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: he made it happen. Mike, if you're listening, thank you.
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: Last one. We're gonna end it with football. It's been
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: so good. I didn't even get to ask you about
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: Tim Robinson, who I wanted to talk about. Come on next.
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: I mean also like Nathan Fielder or like Tim and
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: Eric and looks out like breaking the wall. Oh dude,
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: who does what he does? That guy is so funny,
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: so good. Um, if you're building an NFL all time team,
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: and we do all these lists, we do the top
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: one hundred, we do the seventy five Anniversary team. We
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: do the If you, Paul Rudd, are building an NFL team,
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: you can construct it. The first player you're selecting to
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: build everything around is whom. I really think there's one
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: answer to this question, Tom Brady. I mean, how is
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: it not right if you're going defense? I keep thinking
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: like Lawrence Taylor. Maybe, yeah, but I think it's gotta
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: be Brady. It's gotta be Brady. It has to be right.
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: It has to be It's Brady. I mean seven rings. Now,
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: as a Chiefs fan, you watched the Patriots rip your
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: heart out several times. Then you watch the Buccaneers beat
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: you guys in a Super Bowl. Yeah, Brady could could
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: easily be a foe an opponent, a guy you can
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: again you have just respect excellence. Yeah. I mean, I'm
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: not a Patriots fan at all, and obviously I really
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: wanted the Chiefs to beat the Seers the Super Bowl badly. Um,
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: But you know, my son said to me, goes, how
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: lucky are we that we get to be fans of
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: football and we're alive and we get to see Tom
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: Brady play. And that's kind of it's kind of the
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: it's the truth. It's what he's done and is doing
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: is just incredible. And I was like when they were
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: both playing and it was like Pat and I was like,
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: what do you think Peyton Manning or Tom Brady? You away?
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: I was always Manning, No man, I was always Peyton
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: man was Payt Manning, Peyton Manning, Paint Manning. And now
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: and I said, Brady still here, We've done like it's
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: Tom Brady, Yeah, yeah it is. And there's Paul Rodd. Dude,
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: thank you, thank you. This is a blast. Well, I
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: tell you something, what do you got. I'm exhausted, I'm
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: emotionally corecked. We just went through the games? Did it?
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: We just did it? All? Didn't feel good? I feel
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: I feel cleansed, didn't feel right? Was this being or
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: did did you guys press play? Because I you know,
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: I'm ready to take on the world right now, let's go,
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: let's run through a wall. All right? That was incredible,
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: full hour. I appreciate you, thank you, thank you. I've
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: loved this. Thanks so the chiefs. And I actually ran
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: out of air when I said it was all that nil. Well,
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: people don't realize that we're doing the show from fifteen
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: thousand mile high. Um. Speaking of mile High AFC West Broncos.
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: Let's get back to the Chiefs. The Chiefs and I
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: have been talking and I said, you know, Paul's coming
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: on the season with Peter Schreeger at the podcast downloaded today.
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: I want to get him something very specific so he
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: can rock it next time he goes to a Chiefs game.
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: So I'm gonna give you this gift. I want you
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: to open this. It's from me and the equipment guys
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: at the Kansas City Chiefs, and I want to shut
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: out Brad Gee, who is one of the PR guys
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: who was just amazing. It is one of one, and
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: I think you are going to love this player and
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: mock this jersey. My hands are shaking. It's a Christmas
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: all right. So you have the jersey. I got a
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: way White, which we love. Yeah, Way White. The Isaiah
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: put Chaco. Yeah Isaiah, that's a seventh round pick. Oh
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: my god, I gotta put Chaco. You got Pachacot because
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: you can't get these. I know you can't get these.
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: That's Alan Williams and the boys and the equipment staff.
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: When you know, when you were talking about like what storylines,
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: like this guy didn't know it and we talked about
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: story two siblings. Yeah, both to horrific stories. And he
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: has rose above and they call him pop. He hasn't
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: had a lot of carries in the last two weeks,
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: but you know that when it comes crunch time, that
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: jersey is gonna be the you put it on if
