- 0:19Speaker 1: always wondered that.
- 0:21Speaker 3: Boom? Did I scare you? If not? Today's panel will
- 0:27Speaker 3: today on artists on artists and artists. We're discussing twenty
- 0:31Speaker 3: sixteen's The Something.
- 0:33Speaker 1: We're talking to the cast and crew on how they
- 0:36Speaker 1: made such a spooky, terrifying, and yes, bone chilling film.
- 0:41Speaker 2: A film like this only comes out once in a
- 0:44Speaker 2: blue moon. It has the potential to both rock your
- 0:47Speaker 2: world and rock your psyche and also rock your next
- 0:52Speaker 2: therapy session.
- 0:54Speaker 4: Please enjoy this talk back boo.
- 0:59Speaker 2: Let's listen then, Hi, what's up? My name is Derrick
- 1:06Speaker 2: Max and I was the director and writer of The Something.
- 1:12Speaker 1: Hi.
- 1:13Speaker 5: Hi, I'm Lenny Stevens and I played The Something on set.
- 1:20Speaker 5: I am a you know, a physical actor and a
- 1:25Speaker 5: contortionist and I did The Something. So it's so wonderful
- 1:31Speaker 5: to see everyone again and just a blessing to be
- 1:34Speaker 5: out out and about.
- 1:35Speaker 3: Yeah, my name is Golffield Thibodeaux. I did a special effects,
- 1:39Speaker 3: makeup and practical effects on set, but to something in
- 1:43Speaker 3: twenty sixteen.
- 1:45Speaker 1: So my name is father O'Malley. I was the exorcism
- 1:50Speaker 1: consultant for this film. Hello, it is me.
- 1:54Speaker 4: I am Robert Goz and I did a lot of
- 1:58Speaker 4: the vo for some of our external creatures. I was
- 2:04Speaker 4: on set a little bit, but mostly in the video
- 2:06Speaker 4: booth making weird noises good.
- 2:10Speaker 5: They couldn't keep Robert offset. It's for those of you
- 2:13Speaker 5: that don't watch or know much about the industry. It
- 2:16Speaker 5: is not standard for the the via to be on set,
- 2:19Speaker 5: but I know they did it for the film The
- 2:21Speaker 5: Screen Films, and I believe Robert had heard that story
- 2:24Speaker 5: and was around around. Yeah.
- 2:27Speaker 2: I didn't. We didn't even send him locations sometimes. I
- 2:30Speaker 2: was actually very confused how Robert kept on showing up.
- 2:33Speaker 4: No I had I had a PA. I gave her
- 2:35Speaker 4: twelve bucks every week to send me the call sheet
- 2:38Speaker 4: and I'd show up. Because this was pre COVID, so
- 2:41Speaker 4: anyone could go on set. So it was a blast.
- 2:46Speaker 3: It's really wild. It's exciting to see Robert Lendy to
- 2:49Speaker 3: Getta as well, because it's you know, it's it's like
- 2:51Speaker 3: Tweedlede and tweetl dumb. We got to the voice and
- 2:54Speaker 3: we got to the creature together, and it's really funny to.
- 2:57Speaker 5: Watch out together. Yeah, the voice of the body, and
- 3:01Speaker 5: it's kind of two halves make a hole when we
- 3:03Speaker 5: come together. I of course wanted to get into voice
- 3:06Speaker 5: acting and would love for my characters to be fully
- 3:09Speaker 5: my body in my voice. But I clam up in
- 3:12Speaker 5: the booth. What can I say? I clam up in
- 3:14Speaker 5: the booth.
- 3:14Speaker 2: And I got to say it was a little sad
- 3:18Speaker 2: for me because when you came in. I got to say,
- 3:20Speaker 2: when Lenny, when I first watched your audition, your physicality,
- 3:24Speaker 2: your ability to contort your body is frightening, is frightening.
- 3:28Speaker 2: I thought like, this is our guy. This is our guy,
- 3:31Speaker 2: you know. And then the moment you started speaking, when
- 3:34Speaker 2: we put you in that booth, it was like, this
- 3:36Speaker 2: is not our guy. We need to bring in somebody big.
- 3:39Speaker 5: And I appreciated that honesty. You told me in the
- 3:42Speaker 5: room that it wasn't going to be me. He said,
- 3:44Speaker 5: You're not our guy for this, and I said, well,
- 3:46Speaker 5: thank you. I've always appreciated a direct director because it's
- 3:50Speaker 5: in the name of the.
- 3:51Speaker 2: Director exactly exactly, and I take that to heart. You know,
- 3:55Speaker 2: when I direct something, I've got to be direct. And
- 3:59Speaker 2: you know, that's why we actually don't have two of
- 4:01Speaker 2: our leads in the room right now, because I was
- 4:04Speaker 2: directed about it, and after we shot, they both hate me,
- 4:07Speaker 2: you know, Patricia and Sam, they're not We don't speak anymore.
- 4:12Speaker 2: I'm so happy that they did the movie. I'm so
- 4:14Speaker 2: happy that they're finding success, but they will not be
- 4:17Speaker 2: in a panel with me, you know, And that's what
- 4:18Speaker 2: kind of happens.
- 4:20Speaker 3: Of course, referring to a Patricia Heaton and Sam Elliott
- 4:23Speaker 3: two season wonderful actors, really wonderful to work.
- 4:26Speaker 2: With, and I wish them all the best. I wish
- 4:28Speaker 2: them all the best.
- 4:29Speaker 4: But also we can't ignore the fact that we have
- 4:32Speaker 4: motherfucking father O'Malley at this roundtable.
- 4:36Speaker 3: Father.
- 4:41Speaker 1: Oh gosh, bless you, bless you, bless you, bless you
- 4:44Speaker 1: one and all. I mean, I am so I was
- 4:47Speaker 1: just so stoked to be a part of this because
- 4:49Speaker 1: you guys gave me, I would say, uh, the biggest
- 4:53Speaker 1: role creatively in any film I've ever consulted on you
- 4:57Speaker 1: guys set up a little confessional booth next to Crafty
- 5:01Speaker 1: for any time that I wasn't directly needed. And uh,
- 5:05Speaker 1: you know, I just really appreciated that you guys are
- 5:07Speaker 1: such a great cast degree you really gave me something
- 5:09Speaker 1: to do.
- 5:10Speaker 2: Well.
- 5:11Speaker 3: I want to I want to talk to you about
- 5:12Speaker 3: that as well. You're next to Crafty because we couldn't
- 5:15Speaker 3: get you away from Crafty. Let's talk about how you
- 5:17Speaker 3: loved Crafty every second of the day you were over
- 5:20Speaker 3: at Crafty Life.
- 5:25Speaker 1: When they send a group chat to I'm a I'm
- 5:28Speaker 1: in a big group met with a bunch of other
- 5:30Speaker 1: fathers who do are the same thing. Yeah, I'm in
- 5:32Speaker 1: a big Catholic church group chat where we consult on,
- 5:37Speaker 1: where we consult on films and books and stuff.
- 5:40Speaker 3: And dark days you see on that group chat as.
- 5:43Speaker 1: Well, there are some dark days. You know, people are
- 5:47Speaker 1: people are tortured, even us, even you know, the Brothers,
- 5:50Speaker 1: the Stuns, the fathers of God were tortured. But anytime
- 5:53Speaker 1: a little opportunity pops up and we try and you know,
- 5:56Speaker 1: be on the same side. It's sort of like an
- 5:57Speaker 1: assistance page of Los Angeles sort of year. I'm told
- 6:01Speaker 1: where you send any opportunities that come your way. Some
- 6:04Speaker 1: pay more than others. But I am always the first
- 6:07Speaker 1: to respond for any film gig because I know there's
- 6:10Speaker 1: gonna be a bag of cheese. It's for free waiting
- 6:13Speaker 1: for me. Oh my god, I love crafty father, You're
- 6:18Speaker 1: a legend. And uh director Derek.
- 6:21Speaker 2: Dearret Derreck, thank you with a t.
- 6:23Speaker 3: Oh, it's Darren.
- 6:25Speaker 5: Now you have to specify it when you say Derret
- 6:27Speaker 5: with the T. People don't know if it's the T
- 6:30Speaker 5: instead of the K, or the T instead of the
- 6:32Speaker 5: D yes, so sometimes we would be calling you Terrek,
- 6:36Speaker 5: sometimes trot. It's it's tough if I would have to
- 6:40Speaker 5: always check the call sheet, which for those of you
- 6:43Speaker 5: who don't work in film, you get a sheet with
- 6:45Speaker 5: everybody's name on it before you show upset their phone number,
- 6:48Speaker 5: what their job is. And it took me a while
- 6:51Speaker 5: to learn this. You could just check that if you
- 6:52Speaker 5: don't know how to say someone's name or spell it.
- 6:55Speaker 2: Which was frustrating though, I will say, because people they
- 6:58Speaker 2: heard me saying it and then they would read the
- 6:59Speaker 2: call sheet and start saying Tarat or Darrott, you know,
- 7:03Speaker 2: and I'm clearly saying Derret. You know, it's a family name, Derret.
- 7:07Speaker 2: There was a misspelling when my parents moved to California
- 7:11Speaker 2: in eighteen o four.
- 7:14Speaker 5: Because usually the mistake happens at like Ellis Island with
- 7:17Speaker 5: someone coming from across Europe or something. These were Americans.
- 7:22Speaker 5: Derek is a pretty understandable American name, And this is a.
- 7:25Speaker 1: Mistake on your first name, not your last name.
- 7:28Speaker 2: Which is first name, a first family name. You great
- 7:31Speaker 2: great grandfather, We changed the last name in my family
- 7:35Speaker 2: every generatody chooses there corrected. Yeah, yeah, but I kept
- 7:39Speaker 2: Derrett and I changed my original last name for Thaiken
- 7:43Speaker 2: to Max Nice. Yeah.
- 7:46Speaker 1: So you know, I bet you could do that with
- 7:49Speaker 1: your first name as well. I bet you could go
- 7:51Speaker 1: to a courthouse and get that all sorted.
- 7:53Speaker 2: I'm not disrespecting fourteen lines of men with.
- 7:57Speaker 5: That, right. That's that's generations of that's generation, which is
- 8:01Speaker 5: kind of what the film is about in a certain way.
- 8:05Speaker 2: Yeah, so let's just jump into it, you know, let's
- 8:07Speaker 2: just jump into what the film is about. The Something
- 8:09Speaker 2: follows the story of a man and a wife who
- 8:12Speaker 2: have a child and the child gets infected by something
- 8:17Speaker 2: and kind of becomes this monster, and every time the
- 8:21Speaker 2: child kills something else becomes the something, you know, And
- 8:26Speaker 2: so we had Lenny playing a lot of different roles here.
- 8:30Speaker 2: We first cast Lenny as the child, and yes, I
- 8:34Speaker 2: didn't know if that was gonna work because you are
- 8:36Speaker 2: seven to two.
- 8:37Speaker 5: Right, and it it didn't work. I think the reviews
- 8:42Speaker 5: kind of came through and it did not work. On set,
- 8:45Speaker 5: we thought we were making something special and it just
- 8:47Speaker 5: you know, Fangoria called it a joke, and you know,
- 8:53Speaker 5: but I thought it was a big choice. And I
- 8:55Speaker 5: you know, I took a lot of inspiration from the
- 8:57Speaker 5: film Split and the he played all those characters, and
- 9:03Speaker 5: so I.
- 9:03Speaker 3: Can I say personally, I think we all owe a
- 9:05Speaker 3: lot to the film Split.
- 9:07Speaker 5: The twist ending. Absolutely we do.
- 9:09Speaker 2: Absolutely, absolutely great, fantastic film. I actually wrote this based
- 9:14Speaker 2: on that basically.
- 9:15Speaker 5: Right, Yes, And it was a quick turnaround and you
- 9:18Speaker 5: were just really inspired by him.
- 9:20Speaker 2: Two or three weeks I just jumped on it. I
- 9:22Speaker 2: saw it and I said this would be great, but
- 9:24Speaker 2: if it was a little girl, so I jumped on it.
- 9:27Speaker 5: So but yeah, I played the son of Patricia Heaton
- 9:31Speaker 5: and Sam Elliott, the little child.
- 9:33Speaker 4: And.
- 9:35Speaker 5: As far as reviews go. I mean that people loved
- 9:39Speaker 5: their chemistry. I'm surprised we haven't seen them in something
- 9:41Speaker 5: since this film.
- 9:42Speaker 1: Me too, I think the same. Yeah, yeah, I mean
- 9:45Speaker 1: that's Sam Elliott. He is a rising star and I
- 9:48Speaker 1: hope someday Hollywood takes notice.
- 9:50Speaker 3: Got a lot of life in him. Got a lot
- 9:52Speaker 3: of life in him.
- 9:53Speaker 5: I'll point out. And this happened a lot on set.
- 9:56Speaker 5: Sam Elliott's been working for a very long time as
- 9:58Speaker 5: a seasoned actor.
- 10:00Speaker 2: I think he's definitely got a future too.
- 10:02Speaker 5: Well, all right, Father O'Malley and I we really you know,
- 10:07Speaker 5: it was an interesting relationship because we are at odds religiously.
- 10:11Speaker 5: But I just couldn't get enough stories about Father O'Malley's
- 10:15Speaker 5: experiences on the set of American Pie Christ Camp, which
- 10:18Speaker 5: I have is one of my favorite straight to DVD comedies,
- 10:23Speaker 5: and I just the set stories are such a blast.
- 10:25Speaker 5: I don't I don't want to throw you on the
- 10:27Speaker 5: spot right now, but maybe if you want to.
- 10:29Speaker 3: Oh, we were delayed for weeks, Father telling no one more,
- 10:33Speaker 3: just one more, got to tell us a couple of stories.
- 10:36Speaker 1: Let's just say a lot of pies were thrown, a
- 10:40Speaker 1: lot of sex was had, and a lot of things
- 10:44Speaker 1: I as a priest, turned my eyes away from. You know,
- 10:48Speaker 1: I can't say too much because it would be an
- 10:50Speaker 1: affront to God. But the thing, you know, all I
- 10:54Speaker 1: could say is that people have urges, people have sinful urges,
- 10:58Speaker 1: and that was something we got into a lot. Lady,
- 11:01Speaker 1: I would say, because you are a proud member of
- 11:03Speaker 1: the Church of Satan, and that was something we sort
- 11:07Speaker 1: of had to reckon with.
- 11:08Speaker 5: Yes, And you know, the Church of Satan kind of
- 11:11Speaker 5: started existing as a response legally to some of the
- 11:14Speaker 5: things that are done religiously in our country. But I
- 11:17Speaker 5: joined as a worshiper of dark Lord himself, Satan, the
- 11:23Speaker 5: fallen Angel, and so you know, I have strong beliefs
- 11:26Speaker 5: about that.
- 11:27Speaker 2: Sure.
- 11:27Speaker 4: Of course, of course, our set was great in terms
- 11:32Speaker 4: of you two. I feel like you with that open
- 11:35Speaker 4: and honest conversation, it really opened us all up to
- 11:40Speaker 4: just being our honest and most authentic selves when we
- 11:43Speaker 4: show up to that set.
- 11:45Speaker 5: That's a fantastic point. I have not felt as comfortable
- 11:48Speaker 5: as I did on Derek's set, and I really appreciate.
- 11:52Speaker 2: Thank you, guys, thank you. You know, like when I
- 11:54Speaker 2: first wrote this and when they finally let me direct it.
- 11:57Speaker 2: I thought, the one thing I want to do, one
- 12:00Speaker 2: thing I want to make sure happens on set, is
- 12:03Speaker 2: that since it's a scary movie, people are not scared
- 12:06Speaker 2: on set, people feel welcomed, you know, since we're making
- 12:08Speaker 2: a very unwelcoming movie. I would say, because that's the
- 12:12Speaker 2: point of the movie. I don't want audiences to like it.
- 12:14Speaker 2: I want audiences to be scared. I want audiences to
- 12:18Speaker 2: be quivering, and I want audience just to think walking away,
- 12:21Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, something in me, you know.
- 12:25Speaker 3: To clearly, Yeah, Darren, I did want to say that
- 12:27Speaker 3: made my job really hard because I made the creatures.
- 12:30Speaker 3: So it was difficult sometimes because you would say why
- 12:33Speaker 3: would you do this? Why would you do this to Lenny?
- 12:36Speaker 3: And I said, because you told me too. You know,
- 12:38Speaker 3: he looks like a big alligator because you told me to.
- 12:40Speaker 2: But he just looked so uncomfortable sometimes, you.
- 12:42Speaker 3: Know, well, he wasn't uncomfortable. He's supposed to look uncomfortable
- 12:44Speaker 3: because he is a representation of grief and pain, and
- 12:47Speaker 3: you know, he makes you look uncomfortable. And there were
- 12:50Speaker 3: times when you would scream at me and say, how
- 12:52Speaker 3: dare you do this? To my friend Lenny, and I
- 12:54Speaker 3: would say, you asked me to do that, So.
- 12:56Speaker 2: I just didn't get it. I just didn't get it
- 12:58Speaker 2: why you would do that to my friend Lenny.
- 13:00Speaker 3: Yeah, I had sent you drawings. I had sent you
- 13:02Speaker 3: pictures I had.
- 13:03Speaker 2: Sent and I liked the drawings. I just didn't understand
- 13:05Speaker 2: what the drawings meant. I thought they were just gonna
- 13:07Speaker 2: be drawings, to be clear.
- 13:09Speaker 3: I just think sometimes you didn't understand that what we
- 13:11Speaker 3: were making was a scary movie. And by the time
- 13:13Speaker 3: we got to it, you know, that was hard for
- 13:15Speaker 3: me because people seemed to not talk to me, not
- 13:18Speaker 3: like me.
- 13:18Speaker 5: You know.
- 13:18Speaker 3: Robert was talking to me, which was fine, but everyone
- 13:21Speaker 3: else was constantly, constantly, you know, telling me, how dare
- 13:24Speaker 3: you do this to our set? And it was challenging
- 13:27Speaker 3: for me.
- 13:27Speaker 1: People were in and out of the confessional booth, you know,
- 13:30Speaker 1: talking about Garfield. I will say a lot of people. Yeah,
- 13:34Speaker 1: I hope it's okay for me to bring up now
- 13:37Speaker 1: people would pop into the confession book.
- 13:38Speaker 2: I do think that's the a legal part of a
- 13:41Speaker 2: confession booth. I don't think you're supposed to say it.
- 13:43Speaker 3: Also, it sounds like people are using a confession booth
- 13:45Speaker 3: kind of like a reality show confession can I was.
- 13:48Speaker 5: In the confessional wet and father MELI, No, look, I
- 13:52Speaker 5: wasn't here to make friends.
- 13:53Speaker 1: Yes, well, I did put a camera in there. I
- 13:57Speaker 1: put a camera in there so that they could, you know,
- 13:59Speaker 1: air your feelings, and then I could rewatch the tape
- 14:02Speaker 1: so that next time they come back, I know how
- 14:04Speaker 1: to properly bless us for their sins.
- 14:07Speaker 4: I would go into that booth because I felt unneeded
- 14:10Speaker 4: on set, and that gets to you, right, And I
- 14:13Speaker 4: sure I didn't have a job on there, but I'd
- 14:15Speaker 4: get in there and I'd say in that booth, I'm.
- 14:16Speaker 1: Here for the right reasons. And you know, Robert, I
- 14:21Speaker 1: think you were.
- 14:23Speaker 5: Robert, you were here for the right reasons. You weren't
- 14:25Speaker 5: there to mess around, you were there for the art.
- 14:27Speaker 5: And you know, some people I'm not gonna name names,
- 14:30Speaker 5: but for example, when Garfield, I guess I'm naming names
- 14:33Speaker 5: right now, Garfield, just yet, Garfield and Deanna in the
- 14:37Speaker 5: confessional booth cooked up, knowing I would see that footage
- 14:40Speaker 5: later on, and Garfield.
- 14:43Speaker 1: Knowing that, you know, right, because we did air it.
- 14:45Speaker 1: We did air it in a big cast party now.
- 14:47Speaker 3: Deanna is my wife. Deanna is my wife of twenty
- 14:50Speaker 3: five years. She came by set and I was stressed.
- 14:54Speaker 3: I'm gonna be honest, I thought that star wagon was empty.
- 14:56Speaker 3: It turns out it was Lenny's. And I didn't mean
- 14:58Speaker 3: to I didn't mean to do that. And I told
- 15:00Speaker 3: this to father. I told this to father. My life
- 15:03Speaker 3: is my life and people need to stay out of it. Okay,
- 15:05Speaker 3: I'm trying to get I'm trying to win immunity here.
- 15:07Speaker 5: But the moment Garfield's wife, Deanna walked on to set,
- 15:11Speaker 5: I said to Garfield, I'm gonna make her my wife
- 15:13Speaker 5: one day. I have a huge crush on her, and
- 15:16Speaker 5: and you rudely continued to be married to her after
- 15:19Speaker 5: I said that cousin has a lot of drama.
- 15:21Speaker 3: My responsibility, Lenny is that is shows more about you
- 15:25Speaker 3: than me.
- 15:26Speaker 4: But that was the day, I hate to say this,
- 15:28Speaker 4: that was the day we filmed the best scene in
- 15:30Speaker 4: the movie.
- 15:30Speaker 2: Mm hmm. The tension really added. What I didn't realize
- 15:33Speaker 2: is sometimes having an uncomfortable set gets an uncomfortable movie.
- 15:36Speaker 2: You know, yes, and let's talk about that scene. Actually,
- 15:40Speaker 2: I love this thing. You know, we got panned critically,
- 15:43Speaker 2: we got ripped apart left and right. Lenny, I don't
- 15:47Speaker 2: think you have a career after this movie.
- 15:48Speaker 5: But well not in film.
- 15:50Speaker 1: No.
- 15:50Speaker 5: But yes I am working, but just not in the
- 15:53Speaker 5: film war.
- 15:53Speaker 3: What are you doing now?
- 15:55Speaker 5: Well, you know, because of my ability to contort my body,
- 15:59Speaker 5: I am a rope for Cirque de sole.
- 16:01Speaker 2: So they you are, you don't actually perform, you just
- 16:05Speaker 2: they'll use you to climb.
- 16:07Speaker 5: Yeah, they'll use me to climb, they'll swing me, they'll
- 16:09Speaker 5: tie me around. Sometimes they don't even use me in
- 16:11Speaker 5: the show. But if they need something far away, they'll
- 16:14Speaker 5: tie me up in a little knot and throw the
- 16:16Speaker 5: rope like a lasso to pull it close to them.
- 16:18Speaker 5: It's kind of an all purpose job.
- 16:19Speaker 1: And how tall are you, Lenny, because that might be
- 16:22Speaker 1: a bit of a short rope.
- 16:25Speaker 5: So once you've looped me, I mean that's a four
- 16:27Speaker 5: foot rope at the most.
- 16:28Speaker 4: Yes, So my question is are you are you? Are
- 16:33Speaker 4: you like a build as a performer or oh?
- 16:36Speaker 5: No, very specifically in the in the.
- 16:39Speaker 1: Program, is it props or is it.
- 16:43Speaker 3: It's currently unpaid labor.
- 16:45Speaker 5: No, it's unpaid labor. I'm trying to get in with
- 16:47Speaker 5: the Cerca Sole crew. You know in the business you
- 16:50Speaker 5: do stuff early on that that's not really your art,
- 16:53Speaker 5: but you know it's how you you build up. I'm
- 16:55Speaker 5: sure in the vo world and the directing world.
- 16:58Speaker 2: How long have you been in the business for.
- 17:00Speaker 5: Of Circle of Film both forty odd years?
- 17:05Speaker 1: Yes, Yes, I've seen your work. I saw your work in.
- 17:10Speaker 5: Oh.
- 17:11Speaker 1: I saw your work in Childbride forty nine.
- 17:15Speaker 5: Yes, in Childbride forty nine I was That's actually where
- 17:18Speaker 5: father Amaliy and I first met because I was the
- 17:20Speaker 5: priest Childbride forty nine, so Father Amelie was there showing
- 17:25Speaker 5: that there was a proper child marriage in the film
- 17:29Speaker 5: Childbride forty nine, which the other child Brides had kind
- 17:32Speaker 5: of disrespected the religion. I would say.
- 17:34Speaker 1: I want to say Childbride forty nine really handled Catholic
- 17:38Speaker 1: rules on child marriage very, very gracefully, because a lot
- 17:42Speaker 1: of people get it wrong. A lot of people, you know,
- 17:44Speaker 1: they put too much fanfare around it, they try and
- 17:47Speaker 1: justify it too much. But Childbride forty nine really got
- 17:51Speaker 1: it simple. It's a simple, lovely marriage between an older
- 17:56Speaker 1: man and a small woman, and that's what we call
- 17:59Speaker 1: children in the Atholic Church. Small women.
- 18:02Speaker 3: Y'all might not notice because this is one of my
- 18:04Speaker 3: first jobs, but I actually I never mit, ch'all. I
- 18:07Speaker 3: wasn't on set, but I crafted the fat suit for you, Lenny,
- 18:09Speaker 3: the big, big fat suit.
- 18:11Speaker 5: Yes, it was a very fat priest and that was
- 18:13Speaker 5: It was a very collaborative set, and I said, I'd
- 18:16Speaker 5: like this priest to be you know, if you don't
- 18:19Speaker 5: mind a quick digression for the story. So they you know,
- 18:22Speaker 5: they brought me the original fat suit and I said,
- 18:26Speaker 5: we're gonna need to go a little bigger. And then
- 18:29Speaker 5: they brought it in again. We had a little meeting
- 18:31Speaker 5: and I said, we still have to go bigger. And
- 18:33Speaker 5: I eventually showed them the Monty Python film Life of Brian,
- 18:38Speaker 5: I believe, or maybe a meeting of Life where the
- 18:40Speaker 5: big man throws up a lot, and I said, you
- 18:42Speaker 5: see this, let's double that down. This This priest is
- 18:45Speaker 5: going to be twice the size we did.
- 18:46Speaker 3: Twelve hundred pounds.
- 18:48Speaker 5: Yes, And I thank you Garfield because a lot of
- 18:51Speaker 5: people in the industry would not be as collaborative. But
- 18:54Speaker 5: I just I read the script and I said, this
- 18:55Speaker 5: guy is morbidly obese, and it's the only way I'll
- 18:58Speaker 5: play him, So give me the suit.
- 19:00Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 19:00Speaker 1: And I took to the Bible, you know, and I
- 19:03Speaker 1: looked up if there were any verses on you know,
- 19:06Speaker 1: priest's weight and what they should be, and I interpreted
- 19:10Speaker 1: as well that it should be twelve hundred pounds. Yes,
- 19:13Speaker 1: And so I'm glad.
- 19:14Speaker 5: That you found. I'll say this about you, father Amali.
- 19:18Speaker 5: You can find a justification for anything in the Bible.
- 19:20Speaker 5: You're very good at it. You're very good at it.
- 19:23Speaker 1: I dare you to find something in the Bible that
- 19:25Speaker 1: I can't justify.
- 19:27Speaker 3: Tell us how you used to justify it.
- 19:29Speaker 1: If you ask me what kind of hot dog is
- 19:30Speaker 1: the most biblically appropriate hot dog, I'd be able to
- 19:33Speaker 1: tell you. Open up your book to Psalm sixteen forty five,
- 19:38Speaker 1: and you'll see that Jesus is holding a rope, rope
- 19:42Speaker 1: big enough to envelop two calves, as it says in
- 19:46Speaker 1: the Good Book. And that, to me, two calves is
- 19:50Speaker 1: kind of two carnies. And that's a hot dog. And
- 19:53Speaker 1: that's what we're talking about here. We're talking about honoring
- 19:55Speaker 1: the Good Book. So I appreciate everybody on this film
- 19:58Speaker 1: is so good about that.
- 19:59Speaker 5: And I hate to get heated right here. But in
- 20:01Speaker 5: my religion, we just don't believe that Jesus had hot dogs.
- 20:03Speaker 5: I don't believe that they were around at the time.
- 20:05Speaker 5: And here we go again. They had to send to
- 20:09Speaker 5: right the hot dog truck one day because it was
- 20:11Speaker 5: making us. We couldn't see it without you know, like
- 20:15Speaker 5: magnets starting the argument once again.
- 20:17Speaker 2: Yeah, well, this actually really like segues nice into my favorite,
- 20:21Speaker 2: one of my favorite clips of the movie. We were
- 20:22Speaker 2: talking about how that day was tense. You know. We
- 20:25Speaker 2: had father O'Malley and Lenny at each other's throats. We
- 20:28Speaker 2: had Garfield being ripped apart. Diana was there, there was
- 20:32Speaker 2: a lot of sexual energy, and in the meantime, Robert
- 20:36Speaker 2: is just mouthing his lines into my ears, going is
- 20:39Speaker 2: this does this sound good? Is this the right thing?
- 20:42Speaker 2: And I just say, everybody shut up and roll now.
- 20:45Speaker 2: I want to play this clip because it really really
- 20:47Speaker 2: captures the scary spookiness of the movie. This is when
- 20:51Speaker 2: Patricia and Sam realize that their daughter has something.
- 20:57Speaker 1: Let's roll, there's something right with that, Cude, give it
- 21:03Speaker 1: a rest our.
- 21:04Speaker 3: Daughter is fine, damn it, damn it.
- 21:14Speaker 1: I've gotta go into the kitchen. I'm gonna pour myself
- 21:16Speaker 1: a drink.
- 21:18Speaker 3: Honey, make it too.
- 21:20Speaker 2: I think you're right, And that's the scene. That's the scene.
- 21:25Speaker 3: Wow crazy we cut.
- 21:26Speaker 2: It off on Oh no, I wanted to cut it
- 21:29Speaker 2: off early because it just goes a little downhill. But
- 21:31Speaker 2: for me, that scene really captured. You admit that, Yeah, the.
- 21:35Speaker 3: Movie goes downhill from there. That's the best part of
- 21:38Speaker 3: the whole movie.
- 21:39Speaker 1: You're so honest.
- 21:41Speaker 2: Direct, I'm direct, but I really I feel like that
- 21:45Speaker 2: scene like captured because you had Patricia and Sam acting
- 21:49Speaker 2: their asses off. You know, I didn't give them lines
- 21:52Speaker 2: and they were making them up, and I hope you
- 21:54Speaker 2: could feel that, you know, the feeling. And then you
- 21:56Speaker 2: had you know, Lenny playing the character and if you
- 22:00Speaker 2: guys could notice, I wasn't very good with the edit,
- 22:03Speaker 2: and you could hear both Lenny and Robert's voices come
- 22:06Speaker 2: through for the voicing over, which I thought a choice. Yeah,
- 22:11Speaker 2: it added an effect of we don't know who this
- 22:13Speaker 2: something is. And also those.
- 22:15Speaker 5: For those of you that don't watch film, about sixty
- 22:18Speaker 5: maybe seventy percent of the audio you hear is recorded afterwards.
- 22:21Speaker 5: It's a fully voiceover adr. But what what they usually
- 22:27Speaker 5: do is they adr is I believe alternate dialogue replacement
- 22:32Speaker 5: here have a lot of replacement.
- 22:34Speaker 3: No.
- 22:34Speaker 2: Well, I will say the one thing we did replace
- 22:36Speaker 2: is we made every single like kind of noise you hear,
- 22:41Speaker 2: like wine being poured or anything. I got Robert to
- 22:44Speaker 2: fill in all of those two. You know, it was very.
- 22:50Speaker 5: Prairie Home companion.
- 22:52Speaker 2: Yes, it's huge influence for me, huge part.
- 22:57Speaker 5: You were kind of forgive my language, but pimping the
- 23:00Speaker 5: film into having more people would for no reason, say
- 23:03Speaker 5: do I hear a horse carriage moving by?
- 23:07Speaker 2: I thought that would be scary. I thought it would
- 23:09Speaker 2: really terrorize the audience of going what is real? What
- 23:13Speaker 2: is fake? Why do these horses sound like a man
- 23:16Speaker 2: making horse noises? And Robert, could you do that horse noise?
- 23:18Speaker 2: Because you hit it so well in the film, you.
- 23:20Speaker 1: Gotta do it.
- 23:25Speaker 2: That was the horse.
- 23:26Speaker 1: And I'll say, I want to say that.
- 23:31Speaker 4: I get asked this a lot, and I think my
- 23:33Speaker 4: main philosophy is show up to work, even if you
- 23:36Speaker 4: don't need to go to work, show up because you
- 23:39Speaker 4: can add to the film and they didn't even need you,
- 23:42Speaker 4: and you can add to it.
- 23:43Speaker 1: You know what I mean? Like I tell you, I
- 23:44Speaker 1: gotta say, Robert, you're.
- 23:48Speaker 2: In.
- 23:48Speaker 1: Your sound effects for the entire city of Boston were
- 23:53Speaker 1: so impressive. The way that you provided background, featured extra,
- 23:58Speaker 1: anybody that we didn't really want or that Derek didn't
- 24:02Speaker 1: really want to be paid. You were doing all those voices.
- 24:05Speaker 3: You did full of full sports commentary for a fake
- 24:09Speaker 3: Boston Red Sox game, like we were standing outside of
- 24:11Speaker 3: Finway Park.
- 24:12Speaker 4: It was all and I enjoyed every fucking minute of it.
- 24:19Speaker 5: Well, what I'll do is I'll go to a film
- 24:21Speaker 5: im in when it comes out. I'll put on a
- 24:22Speaker 5: little hoodie and sit in the back of theater just
- 24:24Speaker 5: to hear people reacting.
- 24:25Speaker 1: That's classy.
- 24:26Speaker 5: And a lot of people in the audience, you know
- 24:28Speaker 5: that what was happening was people would be like, is
- 24:30Speaker 5: somebody's radio on? Did somebody leave their phone on? You
- 24:34Speaker 5: were that good, Robert Is People thought it was happening
- 24:36Speaker 5: in the room, and you know, I don't want to
- 24:39Speaker 5: reveal myself to be in the movie, but I would
- 24:41Speaker 5: sometimes stayed up and say, no, no, no, that's all
- 24:43Speaker 5: happening in the film.
- 24:44Speaker 1: And that's part of it.
- 24:46Speaker 5: Does it say no, no, it does not pay off.
- 24:49Speaker 5: It's just atmosphere.
- 24:52Speaker 4: Thank you for sharing that, Lenny. That means a lot
- 24:55Speaker 4: to me because I learned in acting school.
- 24:58Speaker 1: That it is your job to be this right.
- 25:01Speaker 2: Did you go to again?
- 25:02Speaker 1: I went to NYU Tish Oh wow.
- 25:06Speaker 5: Wow, very prestigious school and that was the that's the
- 25:10Speaker 5: Adrian Brody School that they added there.
- 25:13Speaker 4: Right, Yes, I was at the Adrian Brody School, one
- 25:16Speaker 4: of the first graduating classes of it.
- 25:18Speaker 3: I think I think we actually have a glip of
- 25:19Speaker 3: one of his classes right now.
- 25:24Speaker 5: Okay, everybody, So that was me as a Rastafarian introducing
- 25:30Speaker 5: Sean Paul on Saturday Night Live. And you understand how
- 25:32Speaker 5: I took a minute and a half to do something
- 25:33Speaker 5: that usually takes five seconds and made it totally about me. Now,
- 25:37Speaker 5: I'd like to bring up a couple of students to
- 25:39Speaker 5: do that as well. So what I'm gonna do is,
- 25:42Speaker 5: I'm going to give two of you this scene from
- 25:45Speaker 5: the Glass Menagerie, and then a third one of you
- 25:48Speaker 5: is going to be part of the menagerie on stage.
- 25:52Speaker 5: And remember the classes about being distracting, So I just
- 25:54Speaker 5: want to let you do some improv within that. Okay,
- 25:58Speaker 5: So Michael and Laura come on up and Sam, why
- 26:02Speaker 5: don't you be the part of the menagerie here? Okay,
- 26:06Speaker 5: thanks and uh and go.
- 26:10Speaker 3: Mama, yes, honey.
- 26:13Speaker 1: Mama, I don't want to go meet the gentleman caller.
- 26:17Speaker 3: You have to meet the gentleman caller. You have to meet.
- 26:22Speaker 5: Good We keep talking, keep doing the scene.
- 26:27Speaker 3: You have to meet the gentleman caller. The gentleman caller,
- 26:31Speaker 3: bring your little glass sticks.
- 26:33Speaker 5: I'm watching too much of the main characters.
- 26:37Speaker 2: Sorry, sorry, Adrian, Sorry, that's.
- 26:44Speaker 1: An incredible clip of that class.
- 26:47Speaker 3: This podcast is sponsored by the Great Courses Plus. By
- 26:50Speaker 3: the way, if you want to get some of those,
- 26:52Speaker 3: I've been told by the producers to let everyone know that's.
- 26:56Speaker 1: An incredible yeah, and I have also been contacted by them.

- 27:05Speaker 1: twenty percent off a free course online. So check that out.

- 27:15Speaker 1: You know, I go where the good Lord takes me,
- 27:17Speaker 1: and I go where the Good Lord's food takes me,
- 27:20Speaker 1: which of course is money and it makes the work around.
- 27:24Speaker 1: I'm sorry you guys. You know, oh gosh, I love
- 27:27Speaker 1: to be here. I'm gonna pull a question for the
- 27:30Speaker 1: fish Bowl because I'm really curious, y'all are the creative
- 27:33Speaker 1: types on here? What was the most fulfilling moment on
- 27:38Speaker 1: set for this film?
- 27:40Speaker 5: Hmmm, Well, I.
- 27:42Speaker 3: Want to talk about one of the creatures that I
- 27:44Speaker 3: got to create with Lenny, and I want to mention Lenny.
- 27:47Speaker 3: Your body. In the special effects makeup department across the country,
- 27:52Speaker 3: your body is kind of known as the great canvas.
- 27:55Speaker 3: We all, it's the great canvas, you know, and we
- 28:00Speaker 3: we really love kind of your limbs are just so
- 28:04Speaker 3: fluid we can just kind of put anything on them.
- 28:07Speaker 3: And your skin is so uh, there's no moisture to
- 28:11Speaker 3: it at all, so all sorts of latex attached to it.
- 28:15Speaker 3: And your face also just has so many sharp features
- 28:18Speaker 3: on it, so there's a lot to build on. Your
- 28:20Speaker 3: head is pointed so weird, there's a lot to go
- 28:23Speaker 3: off of. So we love it. We love it. These
- 28:27Speaker 3: are compliments.
- 28:28Speaker 5: Obviously they sounded close to compliments in the but some
- 28:31Speaker 5: people can interpret it as maybe they think he looks
- 28:33Speaker 5: weird and then you said, I do look weird my head,
- 28:36Speaker 5: and you know, but yeah, I can describe so many times.
- 28:41Speaker 2: Yeah, I thought you would try to get more of
- 28:42Speaker 2: like a usual shape for a canvas.
- 28:44Speaker 3: You know, it's angles. You know, you like to start.
- 28:48Speaker 3: If you start weird, you can get weirder. If you
- 28:50Speaker 3: start normal, you just can get weird, you know what
- 28:53Speaker 3: I mean. And so in the feet, Lenny's feet, I
- 28:56Speaker 3: mean they are wide, but they're short, so it's really
- 29:01Speaker 3: fun like.
- 29:02Speaker 2: A platypus tale. I remember that one.
- 29:04Speaker 1: Yeah. Biblically, Lenny's feet, I would say, are wrong?
- 29:08Speaker 3: Do you have as in the Bible? Yes?
- 29:12Speaker 1: So in the Book of Job it says that the
- 29:15Speaker 1: Lord shall have bestow upon man a foot that is
- 29:19Speaker 1: narrow with five toes, that does not offend the woman
- 29:24Speaker 1: who look on it. And uh, I think that's pretty clear.
- 29:28Speaker 2: That makes it extremely clear. You really didn't have to
- 29:32Speaker 2: do much work for that one.
- 29:33Speaker 1: You found that one so fast. I haven't bookmarked. I've
- 29:37Speaker 1: been in this a long time, you really have. But anyway,
- 29:42Speaker 1: the most fulfeelings.
- 29:43Speaker 5: Oh yeah, the book has a little too much about feet,
- 29:48Speaker 5: somebody said.
- 29:50Speaker 1: Finally somebody said it. You know, I I got it.
- 29:54Speaker 1: You know, I got a side with the Lord on
- 29:55Speaker 1: this one. I think it has the perfect amount of feet.
- 29:57Speaker 1: I think it really does. I think you need to
- 29:59Speaker 1: know that, because otherwise the Book of Psalms with a
- 30:02Speaker 1: book of hands, it doesn't make any sense.
- 30:04Speaker 2: The Book of Job is like a Quentin Tarantino movie.
- 30:06Speaker 2: For me, it's just out of no all of a sudden.
- 30:09Speaker 2: It's thirty seconds of feet, you know, and it's.
- 30:13Speaker 1: A lot of artillery and sort of weaponry that doesn't
- 30:16Speaker 1: quite exist yet, which I found fascinating and just an
- 30:19Speaker 1: attestament to how how valid God is.
- 30:23Speaker 5: So most on set, oh go ahead, no Garfield, please, The.
- 30:27Speaker 3: Most filling day on set for me was when we
- 30:29Speaker 3: got to create Lenny as the creature, when he morphed
- 30:34Speaker 3: from the big beast to the little beast to the
- 30:37Speaker 3: medium sized beast, and then he changed and we had
- 30:41Speaker 3: to have all those costumes and prosthetics kind of built
- 30:44Speaker 3: on him, and so it was kind of like a
- 30:46Speaker 3: quick change where we ripped it off and there was
- 30:48Speaker 3: a new skin and he ripped it off and it
- 30:49Speaker 3: was It was really extensive, and of course, yeah, a.
- 30:53Speaker 5: Beautiful scene upart in the quick interruption, but you know,
- 30:56Speaker 5: we shot it all practically. It was a one take.
- 30:59Speaker 2: Yeah, God insisted, I insisted.
- 31:01Speaker 5: And really beautifully done and put together and planned. And
- 31:04Speaker 5: you know, people did pan in the movie, but I
- 31:06Speaker 5: felt like we really swung for the fences on that one.
- 31:09Speaker 3: It was nice. I would say, if we could go back,
- 31:12Speaker 3: I would say, we shouldn't have done it in an
- 31:13Speaker 3: ultra wide shot. I should I think we should have
- 31:16Speaker 3: had a close up because I worked so hot on
- 31:17Speaker 3: the details. You know, didn't tell me until we shot
- 31:20Speaker 3: it that it was gonna be a really big why
- 31:25Speaker 3: I want.
- 31:26Speaker 2: I wanted to be specs on a chalkboard, you know.
- 31:29Speaker 2: I wanted it to feel like you were lost in
- 31:31Speaker 2: the expanse of the universe in that moment.
- 31:33Speaker 3: Yeah, you just had me doing scales and you had
- 31:35Speaker 3: me doing timey details. You know, I had the right scales.
- 31:38Speaker 2: Yeah, and I just I guess I didn't realize because
- 31:42Speaker 2: we were all kind of standing so close to you
- 31:43Speaker 2: guys in the white you know, I wasn't behind camera.
- 31:46Speaker 2: We were all hiding behind the bushes, so it felt
- 31:48Speaker 2: so close to I thought it was beautiful, and then
- 31:51Speaker 2: you know, you see the dailies and you go, oh,
- 31:52Speaker 2: that's what I got.
- 31:53Speaker 3: I try to stop it. You said, this looks amazing.
- 31:55Speaker 3: Let's go back and you started running hundreds of feet
- 31:58Speaker 3: and I, this ain't gonna I love.
- 32:01Speaker 1: Every moment on set when Derrett would just run Darren,
- 32:06Speaker 1: What can I say?
- 32:07Speaker 2: I was excited. I was so excited to get to
- 32:10Speaker 2: those ultra whites, you know, and get to those close ups.
- 32:14Speaker 1: When he's excited. He runs when he's angry, he runs
- 32:17Speaker 1: when he's a little confused.
- 32:18Speaker 2: And also I was very scared of through a lot
- 32:21Speaker 2: of this movie, so I was running away a lot
- 32:23Speaker 2: of the times. You know, Lenny, credit to you, you
- 32:26Speaker 2: would you would scare me to death, and I would
- 32:28Speaker 2: run away.
- 32:29Speaker 5: It was incredibly difficult to communicate with the director who
- 32:32Speaker 5: was terrified of me, and so I would find I
- 32:37Speaker 5: realized I had to find ways to ask for notes
- 32:39Speaker 5: and do blocking without Derret seeing me. But because it
- 32:44Speaker 5: was difficult.
- 32:45Speaker 2: It was very Sometimes I would bring a mirror around
- 32:47Speaker 2: so I could face the mirror at him, but that
- 32:49Speaker 2: didn't work. I found that it was even more scary,
- 32:51Speaker 2: kind of like holding a mirror over my shoulder and
- 32:54Speaker 2: going Lenny, and he would go yeah, and then he
- 32:55Speaker 2: would turn. I would see him in the mirror's reflection.
- 32:58Speaker 5: Spooky mirrors don't change the image you're looking at it
- 33:02Speaker 5: just shows you the image.
- 33:04Speaker 2: But yeah, and I've got a quick, quick sprint. I'm
- 33:09Speaker 2: going under ten sects per hundred so i can get
- 33:13Speaker 2: far fast.
- 33:15Speaker 3: I've never seen legs go that wide during a run.
- 33:18Speaker 3: I swear they will go in almost one hundred and
- 33:20Speaker 3: eighty degrees.
- 33:20Speaker 2: Why So, yeah, I'm so happy. That was a great day.
- 33:25Speaker 2: Ended up being a little far in the movie.
- 33:28Speaker 3: But what was you almost fulfilling day, Derek?
- 33:31Speaker 2: Okay, well, there's a lot. You know, I really poured
- 33:34Speaker 2: my heart and soul into this movie. But I think
- 33:37Speaker 2: the moment that it all came together was just when
- 33:40Speaker 2: we filmed the finale scene of where Lenny as the
- 33:45Speaker 2: child eats Patricia and Sam and it's kind of right
- 33:49Speaker 2: after Patricia and Sam and you kind of like my
- 33:51Speaker 2: goal was for the audience to really understand the theme.
- 33:54Speaker 2: And I got to say we were working as a
- 33:57Speaker 2: unit that day. You know, the voiceover from Robert is
- 34:00Speaker 2: killing it. The physicality from Lenny was there, and then
- 34:05Speaker 2: we had Garfield being quiet and just doing his job,
- 34:09Speaker 2: and and and father O'Malley with the specific kind of
- 34:14Speaker 2: notes about how to do this scene just kind of
- 34:17Speaker 2: unwarranted just giving his own thoughts. I thought was great
- 34:21Speaker 2: and I'd love to play this clip if we have
- 34:23Speaker 2: the time. This really honed in the meaning of the
- 34:25Speaker 2: movie for me, So yeah, let's roll this clip the Father.
- 34:32Speaker 5: I'm sorry, I cannot control it anymore.
- 34:37Speaker 1: We're at the bottom of the night and the Dodgers
- 34:39Speaker 1: are running in down.
- 34:40Speaker 4: Oh it's the Red Sox and it's a throw in
- 34:43Speaker 4: the backfud.
- 34:45Speaker 1: I'm gonna eat them. No, he's gonna eat us. I'm
- 34:52Speaker 1: gonna eat him first condemn. Oh no, oh no. That's
- 34:59Speaker 1: a picture to the short stop and a short stop
- 35:01Speaker 1: and it is running down the field.
- 35:03Speaker 3: Don't you see our daughter's a metaphor for loss.
- 35:08Speaker 1: You never dealt with.
- 35:09Speaker 6: The grief of knowing my father less. I never hold
- 35:13Speaker 6: on to that, and I bet you ever too. I
- 35:17Speaker 6: bet you're holding baggage on it.
- 35:25Speaker 1: That's a great fucking fun alley.
- 35:27Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I got the note that the kind of
- 35:31Speaker 2: nondescript baseball happening in the background was very distracting. But
- 35:36Speaker 2: you know, Robert was killing it on set. You know,
- 35:39Speaker 2: did necessarily it makes sense when he said something like
- 35:43Speaker 2: the balls going to the shortstop, and now the shortstop's
- 35:46Speaker 2: running to second No, that made no sense at all,
- 35:49Speaker 2: but it made them, which was a shock to me.
- 35:53Speaker 2: You always showed up in tons of Dodger gear. So
- 35:55Speaker 2: I just so you know, if you do.
- 35:58Speaker 1: Uge, people know what you're talking, people think, do you
- 36:00Speaker 1: know what you're talking about? That's something I've learned for many,
- 36:03Speaker 1: many years.
- 36:04Speaker 5: Even in the movie Wise, multiple characters say that the
- 36:08Speaker 5: month is January. It's discussed repeatedly. And the baseball season,
- 36:13Speaker 5: I mean, if you include spring training is about April
- 36:15Speaker 5: to October. So it just didn't track for people. And
- 36:19Speaker 5: we had we had late, late, late night arguments Darren
- 36:23Speaker 5: and I about this, and you.
- 36:25Speaker 2: Know, and very very intense, and that's really where a
- 36:29Speaker 2: lot of my anger sprinting came out. You know, you
- 36:31Speaker 2: would say something that would start boiling my blood and
- 36:34Speaker 2: I just have to take a two hundred you know,
- 36:36Speaker 2: take a two hundred meter.
- 36:39Speaker 5: And when I look back at it, I think the
- 36:41Speaker 5: reason I would want to get into those late night
- 36:43Speaker 5: arguments is I was just trying to stay up late
- 36:46Speaker 5: to see if Dianna would show up Gartha's wife, and yeah,
- 36:49Speaker 5: I could. I was having a lot of sleepless nice
- 36:51Speaker 5: because I was absolutely in love and not knowing that
- 36:54Speaker 5: I was getting essentially betrayed by my friend and VFX
- 36:59Speaker 5: Special Effecsports.
- 37:00Speaker 3: My dear friend, you are not being betrayed. I saw
- 37:02Speaker 3: all the messages messages you sent her on WhatsApp, and
- 37:05Speaker 3: I want to let you know that I was the
- 37:07Speaker 3: one receiving them. I gave you my WhatsApp information, so
- 37:12Speaker 3: please stop sending them. I know you still are this
- 37:15Speaker 3: and I am sending you messages back.
- 37:17Speaker 5: I'm leading you on.
- 37:18Speaker 3: This is unbelievable.
- 37:19Speaker 5: The things I sent, the poems I wrote.
- 37:22Speaker 3: I know.
- 37:23Speaker 5: I know.
- 37:23Speaker 3: I'm telling you right now. I wanted to tell because
- 37:25Speaker 3: I knew you were going to be here, so I
- 37:26Speaker 3: wanted to talk to you right now. Those poems, these
- 37:28Speaker 3: poems I have right here, they are.
- 37:31Speaker 5: Lude.
- 37:33Speaker 3: They are disgusting, disgusting.
- 37:36Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, Lenny, I gotta say, shalt not cover your
- 37:40Speaker 1: neighbor's wife. And that's what I've been saying for a
- 37:42Speaker 1: long long time. Buddy, you got to get a handle
- 37:45Speaker 1: on this.
- 37:45Speaker 2: Well.
- 37:45Speaker 5: I thought it was okay. I had told Garfield I
- 37:48Speaker 5: was interested. It wasn't as if I was doing it.
- 37:51Speaker 1: You know, it was an honest set.
- 37:53Speaker 5: It was an honest set, and I do dabble. I
- 37:57Speaker 5: do dabble a bit in pornographic poetry.
- 38:02Speaker 3: Would you know what? I think you should read them?
- 38:05Speaker 3: You should read them that poem you sent.
- 38:07Speaker 1: I want to know what I got to forgive you for? Please? Please?
- 38:11Speaker 5: All right, all right, let's let me just go through
- 38:14Speaker 5: the what's even Just looking back at my phone, I'm
- 38:16Speaker 5: humiliated to see some of the pictures I sent here,
- 38:18Speaker 5: knowing that they were.
- 38:20Speaker 3: I don't know how you got those photos of me,
- 38:22Speaker 3: but they are not flattering. I can't believe you sent.
- 38:25Speaker 5: Them pictures of her own husband said this is the guy,
- 38:30Speaker 5: and I would take ugly pictures of him, and I
- 38:32Speaker 5: would talk to them just a little bit, and I'd say,
- 38:34Speaker 5: you sure.
- 38:35Speaker 3: You took a photo of me at Noah's Bagels when
- 38:38Speaker 3: I accidentally dropped and entire everything bagel on my shirt,
- 38:41Speaker 3: the outline of cream cheese as I scrambled to try
- 38:44Speaker 3: to pick it up off the ground. I don't know
- 38:46Speaker 3: how you were there for that.
- 38:48Speaker 1: Are you doing all this and reporting to work as
- 38:50Speaker 1: a rope for to.
- 38:52Speaker 5: Yes, I do. I mean it is a I don't
- 38:55Speaker 5: sleep much, but true love is a crazy thing.
- 38:59Speaker 3: Be true.
- 39:00Speaker 5: Let me dip into one of these poems just because
- 39:02Speaker 5: it was requested. Let's see, all right, my sweet darling Deanna,
- 39:08Speaker 5: what I wouldn't give to be your manna? My love
- 39:11Speaker 5: for you is as strong as a rock. One day
- 39:15Speaker 5: i'd like you to feel my throbbing.
- 39:17Speaker 1: Penis great break on the rhyme there.
- 39:23Speaker 3: Thank you, bother you like that?
- 39:25Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean biblically, I biblically I hate it. Biblically
- 39:29Speaker 1: I detest it. But it's a guy who's just like
- 39:32Speaker 1: one of you guys, a guy who loves crafty.
- 39:35Speaker 3: It my man, father, that's a real man right there.
- 39:39Speaker 1: Oh, stop it.
- 39:43Speaker 5: From the priest that worked out American Pietry christ Gap.
- 39:48Speaker 1: You know, I've seen a lot. I've seen a lot,
- 39:50Speaker 1: That's what I'll say.
- 39:52Speaker 2: Well, here here's a great question just following it. Father
- 39:55Speaker 2: on Miley, what was your favorite day?
- 39:58Speaker 3: Oh?
- 39:58Speaker 1: My favorite day? Oh gosh, I think it was, you know, Darren,
- 40:03Speaker 1: it was. It was a day with you and I
- 40:05Speaker 1: when you know, we came to heads on something and
- 40:09Speaker 1: you were running back and forth. You were not okay,
- 40:12Speaker 1: you were a little upset with me. But I insisted
- 40:16Speaker 1: that you know, the proper steps for requesting a bishop
- 40:22Speaker 1: to do the exorcism were followed, and that means putting
- 40:27Speaker 1: in a request with the archdisis and waiting about six
- 40:30Speaker 1: to eight months for the process to go through. And
- 40:33Speaker 1: I really wanted that process to be authentic, and I
- 40:37Speaker 1: kind of insisted. I said, I'm putting my foot down.
- 40:40Speaker 1: This is not how it would go down in real life.
- 40:42Speaker 1: You would not have someone three days just sprinting over
- 40:45Speaker 1: to exercise the child. You know, we gotta wait six
- 40:48Speaker 1: to eight months. And so finally you halted production.
- 40:52Speaker 2: Yeah, that was That was one. I would say one
- 40:54Speaker 2: of my toughest days was having to halt production for
- 40:57Speaker 2: six to eight months. It turned out to be eight
- 41:00Speaker 2: and a half months.
- 41:02Speaker 5: And you said on the day you said, this will
- 41:03Speaker 5: be six to eight months. Everybody go home.
- 41:07Speaker 2: It was just we got this big. You guys heard it.
- 41:10Speaker 2: We were yelling at each other from the trailer. Father
- 41:12Speaker 2: Amalley is literally cursing me in a in a Catholic way.
- 41:16Speaker 2: You know, it felt very dark. I walk out. You
- 41:18Speaker 2: guys are going, what happened? I go go home. We
- 41:21Speaker 2: got six to eight months.
- 41:22Speaker 3: Wow.
- 41:24Speaker 1: Those Catholic curses. I hate to use them, but sometimes
- 41:27Speaker 1: when films aren't following the proper procedure. You know, you
- 41:31Speaker 1: gotta break one out. It's it's it's in his name.
- 41:34Speaker 3: Can you can you give us a Catholic curse because
- 41:36Speaker 3: very few people know about these. There's a whole other
- 41:38Speaker 3: secret curse word iconography, lexicon.
- 41:43Speaker 1: Yes, so this is in the Book of Curses if
- 41:46Speaker 1: you open up to sixteen thirteen. So this one, it's
- 41:51Speaker 1: kind of in Roman, but I'll do my best to translate.
- 41:53Speaker 1: So it's great. It's skin I'm all force, going all
- 41:57Speaker 1: Baskin and men, And that loosely translates to reverse the Christ,
- 42:04Speaker 1: have him come for you, you know, and that flips
- 42:08Speaker 1: sort of Jesus's whole deal. He was here to die
- 42:11Speaker 1: for your sins. Now he's going to make you die
- 42:14Speaker 1: for his sins. And that's sort of a little Catholic
- 42:17Speaker 1: switcheroo we to have going on.
- 42:19Speaker 2: And when you said this to me, I was pissed.
- 42:20Speaker 2: I was like, you know, fuck you, I'm not what
- 42:23Speaker 2: the fuck you saying? You can't do this? And so yeah,
- 42:25Speaker 2: I was a really tough day, but I'm glad it
- 42:27Speaker 2: was one of your favorites. He would come out. I say,
- 42:29Speaker 2: we got six to eight months. I take off on
- 42:31Speaker 2: a quick half mile sprint right away, father and mout
- 42:37Speaker 2: is screaming from the Book of Curses. You know, I'm
- 42:40Speaker 2: so glad it was one of your favorite days. I'm
- 42:42Speaker 2: so glad.
- 42:43Speaker 5: I remember multiple times on set I would kind of
- 42:47Speaker 5: overhear the producer saying to you, Derek, you know, the
- 42:51Speaker 5: consultants should have very little power on this set. They
- 42:56Speaker 5: are here, it's almost just to make, you know, wash
- 42:59Speaker 5: our hands, make sure or were any complaints. And you said,
- 43:02Speaker 5: the consultant is more important than the writer.
- 43:04Speaker 2: Yea, more important, because what if what is art if
- 43:07Speaker 2: we're not? If not, the consultant is first. If not,
- 43:10Speaker 2: the person from the outside who gives thoughts and opinions
- 43:13Speaker 2: a little too much has the most.
- 43:16Speaker 1: And I was pleasantly surprised because when I told the
- 43:19Speaker 1: folks in my Catholic group chat about, uh, you know,
- 43:23Speaker 1: how I was finally being listened to. They they were
- 43:26Speaker 1: they couldn't believe it, you know, because normally we're on
- 43:29Speaker 1: the sidelines. We're offering, you know, little valid tidbits on
- 43:33Speaker 1: what the Bible actually says, but we're never given this
- 43:37Speaker 1: level of power. And I thank you. I love the power,
- 43:40Speaker 1: the power.
- 43:40Speaker 3: I've never seen I've never seen before. I've never seen
- 43:43Speaker 3: a Catholic peace priests manning a camera as well. You
- 43:46Speaker 3: put him on the dolly. Whoah, you let him, You
- 43:49Speaker 3: let him take the shots because he said, I can
- 43:51Speaker 3: see what God can see, and God has specific angles
- 43:55Speaker 3: that he'd liked to use.
- 43:57Speaker 1: A blast.
- 43:58Speaker 2: I loved it.
- 43:59Speaker 1: Right before before we shot you. You would get the camera.
- 44:02Speaker 4: You'd say, set in Jesus name or in fathered name
- 44:05Speaker 4: or something like that.
- 44:06Speaker 3: And father name. I think you said, yeah, yeah, I.
- 44:08Speaker 1: Said, in father's name, the father's son, the Holy two shot,
- 44:12Speaker 1: let's roll, and I would say I would swap out
- 44:14Speaker 1: the name of the shot each time because.
- 44:16Speaker 2: I thought we lost all that was unusable, completely out
- 44:20Speaker 2: of focus, sometimes focused on none of the actors, or
- 44:23Speaker 2: half the actor's faces cut off. I don't know why.
- 44:25Speaker 2: I just believed you when you said I've run a
- 44:27Speaker 2: dolly before and I know how to do it well.
- 44:30Speaker 1: Sometimes you have to lie to get what you want.
- 44:32Speaker 5: That's what it's hard to know what to do with
- 44:36Speaker 5: that great amount of power on set, Father O'Malley. I mean,
- 44:39Speaker 5: I know you don't get it on other films. And
- 44:42Speaker 5: to bring it back one more time to American pri
- 44:44Speaker 5: American Pie Christ Camp. They mispronounced Jesus a few times
- 44:47Speaker 5: in that movie, so obviously they weren't even listening to you.
- 44:50Speaker 1: And no, they didn't listen to me one bit.
- 44:54Speaker 3: They called him. They call him Jim s a couple
- 44:56Speaker 3: of times, Jim Ass I heard.
- 44:59Speaker 1: I was screaming, but at the top of my lungs,
- 45:01Speaker 1: I was holding up Bibles, going in it's Jesus, It's Jesus.
- 45:05Speaker 1: If you really some people say Jesus, Jesu or hey Sus,
- 45:10Speaker 1: those are all fine, You're not even close. I had
- 45:13Speaker 1: a nervous breakdown on that set. It was a nightmare.
- 45:17Speaker 2: But Jason Biggs really brought it home. I thought he
- 45:19Speaker 2: gave a great performance.
- 45:21Speaker 5: Absolutely absolutely. I mean it reinvigorated his career.
- 45:24Speaker 3: I think we agree that really did well.
- 45:26Speaker 2: Lenny, what was your favorite day?
- 45:28Speaker 5: You know, it is so hard to say because this
- 45:31Speaker 5: job is very tough. You're in all of that makeup,
- 45:34Speaker 5: your sweating. It takes about it took about, what would
- 45:38Speaker 5: you say, Garfield, seven hours to get into.
- 45:40Speaker 3: Makeup seven hours per creature. Yeah, so when we did
- 45:43Speaker 3: the four creature day, that was twenty eight hours.
- 45:45Speaker 5: That was a twenty eight hour day where they were
- 45:47Speaker 5: just packing. But we you know, as for best day
- 45:50Speaker 5: on set, I hate to do this to you, Robert,
- 45:52Speaker 5: but most of my best days were when Robert didn't
- 45:54Speaker 5: know where we were shooting, because I could actually fully
- 45:56Speaker 5: focus on my job and do it instead of having
- 45:59Speaker 5: some one else saying what I was doing, or Robert
- 46:04Speaker 5: frequently would be the seven o'clock news announcing some pretty
- 46:09Speaker 5: horrific events that were apparently happening in the world while
- 46:12Speaker 5: we were shooting scenes that we then had to react
- 46:14Speaker 5: to and fold into the story.
- 46:15Speaker 4: Oh that that that hurts me to hear, Lenny, because
- 46:20Speaker 4: there were in full count four days I missed that
- 46:26Speaker 4: that fucking pa didn't tell me where y'all were, And
- 46:32Speaker 4: that that hurts me because I thought we had a
- 46:34Speaker 4: really good working relationship together, because I mean sure, I
- 46:38Speaker 4: spoke over every single one of your lines while we
- 46:41Speaker 4: were in intense makeup and I was just in my khakis.
- 46:46Speaker 5: It means you can't read social cues, because on set
- 46:49Speaker 5: I would sigh when you showed up. I would I
- 46:51Speaker 5: could not make eye contact with you. I was so
- 46:53Speaker 5: frustrated with you.
- 46:55Speaker 6: Uh.
- 46:56Speaker 4: I've heard this before, and I choose to keep going
- 47:01Speaker 4: so you.
- 47:02Speaker 5: Can read social cues. You just choose not to.
- 47:04Speaker 2: It's not no.
- 47:06Speaker 4: Sometimes I see them and I think I'm overthinking it.
- 47:09Speaker 3: You're not all right.
- 47:12Speaker 4: I'll say my favorite day on ZET was probably when
- 47:17Speaker 4: I got to announce nine to eleven in the back
- 47:21Speaker 4: of the uh as we.
- 47:23Speaker 5: Said the movie takes place in January twenties.
- 47:26Speaker 2: That was a tough thing to edit around. That was it.
- 47:28Speaker 1: But you were insistent it felt good to report. Oh no, no, no.
- 47:37Speaker 5: No, we've heard the audio, Robert. You were feeling good.
- 47:43Speaker 3: Too, excited, you said you, I'm not gonna believe this. Boy,
- 47:48Speaker 3: oh boy, do I have a story for y'all.
- 47:52Speaker 5: You know when you can just hear someone is smiling
- 47:54Speaker 5: when they're now it was because.
- 47:57Speaker 4: I felt important, Lenny, Okay, I felt important for the
- 48:00Speaker 4: first goddamn time on that set.
- 48:03Speaker 1: Well, you know when when Anderson Cooper really lays into Trump,
- 48:08Speaker 1: but you can tell he has a little smile.
- 48:11Speaker 2: What I felt like she was laying into nine to eleven.
- 48:14Speaker 3: Absolutely, I'm sorry.
- 48:17Speaker 4: It sucks to It sucks when you're not even on
- 48:20Speaker 4: the call sheet at all, your first name on the
- 48:22Speaker 4: call show.
- 48:22Speaker 2: Well, I kind of say you were on the call
- 48:24Speaker 2: sheet and one of the only people in the call
- 48:26Speaker 2: sheet for the months after in post.
- 48:28Speaker 1: You know, I don't care about that.
- 48:30Speaker 5: I have no empathy for you. You get paid way
- 48:33Speaker 5: more than me. You only have to do like two
- 48:36Speaker 5: hours of work. You have a very good job, Robert. Okay,
- 48:42Speaker 5: so do.
- 48:42Speaker 1: You, mister Rowe. It sounds sounding a walk in the park.
- 48:47Speaker 3: I don't get paid.
- 48:50Speaker 5: You know, people in sirt To they'll urinate on anything.
- 48:53Speaker 5: You know, they're they're European heard that. It's a humiliating job.
- 49:00Speaker 2: Nightmare stories of circus la.
- 49:02Speaker 3: Let's let's let's let's call out the eight hundred pound
- 49:04Speaker 3: elephant in the room right now, Robert Gauz. You are
- 49:07Speaker 3: the air to the very famous medical tape Gauze, so
- 49:12Speaker 3: let's talk about it. You don't have to work for it.
- 49:14Speaker 3: Everything for you is fun. Everything for you is of
- 49:17Speaker 3: course a gift and a joy. And you like to
- 49:20Speaker 3: show up whatever. But some of us had to work
- 49:23Speaker 3: for our lively hoods.
- 49:24Speaker 4: Okay, Sonni my grandfather when he made medical tape.
- 49:30Speaker 1: Yeah, Jeffrey Gauze, gotta say he did some horrific crimes
- 49:35Speaker 1: against humanity.
- 49:37Speaker 2: He did all those experiments to figure out which tape
- 49:39Speaker 2: was the best.
- 49:41Speaker 1: He was cutting people up and shopping in places to
- 49:44Speaker 1: see how strong the gads could get.
- 49:46Speaker 3: Cause and injuries to fix them.
- 49:48Speaker 5: It was the big thing with Gauz, all the ads,
- 49:51Speaker 5: the radio ads was we don't test on animals, and
- 49:55Speaker 5: then big wink at the end, who would say.
- 49:57Speaker 2: But we lipsies. This will not this will not turn
- 50:01Speaker 2: into you say that you don't need a wink if
- 50:04Speaker 2: you're going.
- 50:05Speaker 1: This won't turn into an attack. It's family. No, I
- 50:08Speaker 1: won't let it. I won't let it.
- 50:09Speaker 4: I just want to show up to set when I'm
- 50:10Speaker 4: not needed, and I want to get paid a lot,
- 50:13Speaker 4: and I don't want to deal with this fucking shit
- 50:15Speaker 4: about my family or where I come from. Yes, I
- 50:19Speaker 4: haven't worked a day in my life. Yes I am
- 50:22Speaker 4: the I am the heiress heir of a huge, huge
- 50:28Speaker 4: invention that changed the course of history and did, in
- 50:32Speaker 4: fact safe lives.
- 50:34Speaker 1: So you can all go fuck off. Okay, Robert, Okay, Robert,
- 50:39Speaker 1: let's let's take let's simmer down. Simmer down, boss, be
- 50:43Speaker 1: with you, father son, Holy Spirit, bless you.
- 50:46Speaker 4: Bless you, bless you, bless.
- 50:48Speaker 1: You, bless you, bless you. That's how I bless everybody.
- 50:51Speaker 1: Every morning it say bless you, bless you, bless you,
- 50:54Speaker 1: bless you, bless you, bless you, bless you. And I
- 50:56Speaker 1: had to go down the call sheet of God. Don't
- 50:58Speaker 1: go and do it to everybody, And Darren, I appreciate
- 51:00Speaker 1: that you let me do that.
- 51:03Speaker 2: It took a long time. We had to take two
- 51:05Speaker 2: hours out of the day just for father's blasses.
- 51:07Speaker 3: Father, Father, when you did it to me, why don't
- 51:09Speaker 3: you close your eyes?
- 51:11Speaker 1: Garfield, I don't know. It must have been must have
- 51:14Speaker 1: been unintentional. I don't know what to tell you.
- 51:16Speaker 2: That's crazy because I remember you saying me to me
- 51:18Speaker 2: on the side. You whispered to me after it. You said,
- 51:22Speaker 2: if a priest closes his eyes, it doesn't count it.
- 51:26Speaker 3: Well, I.
- 51:28Speaker 5: Like a little big piece of chocolate.
- 51:30Speaker 2: Cake, very coy and slid.
- 51:35Speaker 1: Okay, fine, gar I couldn't. In the Book of Curses,
- 51:39Speaker 1: it says you were but you close your eyes. The
- 51:43Speaker 1: same thing applies for chocolate cake. There's a little asterisk
- 51:46Speaker 1: at the bottom that says, or chocolate cake, if you
- 51:50Speaker 1: close your eyes while you're doing a blessing, it's actually
- 51:52Speaker 1: a curse. And I'm so sorry. Garfield. I was in
- 51:56Speaker 1: a rough place. I was in a rough place. I
- 51:59Speaker 1: found out that there was a separate priest group chat
- 52:01Speaker 1: without me, where it was everybody from the first one
- 52:04Speaker 1: without me, that's and they would send each other pictures
- 52:07Speaker 1: of my tweets.
- 52:09Speaker 2: Well, yours were crazy. They are out there.
- 52:12Speaker 5: Well, it's just it is twenty eighteen, twenty nineteen. You
- 52:16Speaker 5: don't need to write the whole setup and then the
- 52:18Speaker 5: punchline where you would you would like reference a news story,
- 52:22Speaker 5: but you would explain the story like you were Leno.
- 52:26Speaker 2: A four part tweet.
- 52:27Speaker 1: Yeah, well I would do. I don't understand why everyone
- 52:30Speaker 1: was so mad, because I would do you know it?
- 52:32Speaker 1: There would be four part tweets and the first one
- 52:35Speaker 1: was have you seen this? Have you heard about this?
- 52:37Speaker 1: And then the second one would be the first half
- 52:39Speaker 1: of the news story, The third would be the second
- 52:42Speaker 1: half of the news story, and then the fourth would
- 52:44Speaker 1: be the big roundabout punchline. And I don't know why
- 52:47Speaker 1: everyone was so upset.
- 52:49Speaker 2: Every one, So I include that fifth that was just
- 52:51Speaker 2: the gift of a band playing yeah, And.
- 52:54Speaker 1: Sometimes I'd throw out a sixth one that was the
- 52:57Speaker 1: Jennifer Lawrence spitting out water to signify that it was funny.
- 53:01Speaker 1: But you know, we all have a different sense of humor.
- 53:03Speaker 2: I get.
- 53:04Speaker 1: I love that gift.
- 53:06Speaker 4: All right, guys, let's let's all go around and just
- 53:08Speaker 4: pull a question on the fish ball.
- 53:10Speaker 1: What's next? What's everybody working on?
- 53:11Speaker 2: Right now?
- 53:13Speaker 4: I'll say, I am showing up to the set of
- 53:18Speaker 4: ted Lasso Season three.
- 53:22Speaker 1: And making it aired? Or are you showing up? I'm
- 53:24Speaker 1: showing up?
- 53:25Speaker 5: Father? How do I ask this politely? Have you improved
- 53:29Speaker 5: your British accents?
- 53:30Speaker 2: Since we work together, give us a little taste. We
- 53:33Speaker 2: can be the judge Jesus a taste.
- 53:35Speaker 1: Oh I that that's the bottom of the nine. The
- 53:40Speaker 1: Dodgers off.
- 53:42Speaker 2: They do not play baseball.
- 53:43Speaker 3: They don't play They got the ball.
- 53:49Speaker 5: So in the background of ted Lasso, there is a
- 53:51Speaker 5: baseball game going on being announced by a British man for.
- 53:56Speaker 1: The Red Sox. Yes, what about what about you, Darren?
- 54:02Speaker 2: Oh well, I've got some exciting news. I'm having a kid.
- 54:05Speaker 2: I'm having a child.
- 54:06Speaker 3: Oh congratulations, Thank you.
- 54:08Speaker 2: I'm very excited.
- 54:10Speaker 1: If you need a baptism, you know where to find me.
- 54:13Speaker 2: We are Anglican, so I think I'll pass on that.
- 54:16Speaker 2: But thank you for the offer.
- 54:20Speaker 5: What are you going to be naming the child?
- 54:22Speaker 2: I'm going to be naming her Stephanie.
- 54:24Speaker 5: Wow. And and this is what does she do?
- 54:30Speaker 2: She's due in about an hour or so.
- 54:33Speaker 3: Oh my god.
- 54:35Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah she's She's named Stephanie. And I think they're twins.
- 54:38Speaker 2: I don't know. I don't keep up with my wife
- 54:41Speaker 2: that much. We love you to the hospital.
- 54:44Speaker 5: I remember seeing the Instagram story of your wedding announcement
- 54:48Speaker 5: or your your your pregnancy announcement, and you really bolted
- 54:52Speaker 5: out of there halfway through it.
- 54:55Speaker 2: Well, yeah, that's it's kind of like a fun video
- 54:58Speaker 2: without the context. My wife holds up the pregnancy scan
- 55:01Speaker 2: and the pregnancy test, and I just I'm out there
- 55:04Speaker 2: like a light. I sprint away as quickly as I can't,
- 55:07Speaker 2: going no no, no, no, no, no no no, uh Darren.
- 55:11Speaker 3: No disrespect now. But uh, a quick question for you.
- 55:14Speaker 3: You've been running around. We talk about how fast you
- 55:17Speaker 3: go all the time in urgent situations.
- 55:19Speaker 2: You're forced gump, but faster.
- 55:21Speaker 3: Yeah, your wife is given birth in an hour, and
- 55:23Speaker 3: you said there's no rush.
- 55:24Speaker 2: No rush, none at all. She'll be fine.
- 55:27Speaker 1: I think, Oh, that means he's happy. That means he's happy.
- 55:30Speaker 1: That's fantastic because if you it'd be concerning if you
- 55:33Speaker 1: were running over there, because that would mean you're angry,
- 55:36Speaker 1: upset or confused. But yeah, feeling really a piece about
- 55:40Speaker 1: being a father.
- 55:41Speaker 2: Very a piece. It's the hospital's only it's in San Diego,
- 55:44Speaker 2: so it's just two hour drive away, so it'll I'll
- 55:47Speaker 2: be there. I'll be there and I'll be happy when
- 55:49Speaker 2: it's when little Stephanie. But if it's a boy, it's
- 55:51Speaker 2: Darret so and I don't know the gender yet, Darret
- 55:55Speaker 2: and whatever name he chooses, so we'll see. Very exciting.
- 56:00Speaker 5: Did you need to get your car wrapped today? Because
- 56:03Speaker 5: you brought it to the car? You know you're getting
- 56:05Speaker 5: a decal wrap on there, that's what you came from. Yeah,
- 56:08Speaker 5: is it going to be ready in time for the drive?
- 56:10Speaker 2: They said something. I wasn't listening to this podcast, so
- 56:16Speaker 2: it should be good. But I'm getting it wrapped. Guys.
- 56:18Speaker 2: This beautiful chrome color, it's going to be so cool.
- 56:21Speaker 2: It's going to be glittering and when you spray water
- 56:23Speaker 2: on it, it changes colors. Isn't that cool?
- 56:25Speaker 3: Really fun? I have to spray some water on your car.
- 56:28Speaker 2: That sounds like I don't do that, Please, don't do Wow.
- 56:32Speaker 5: Car that can't get wet, Okay.
- 56:35Speaker 2: I cannot get wet. It completely breaks down. It's it's
- 56:38Speaker 2: a disaster of a car. So yeah, that's what's coming
- 56:41Speaker 2: up for me, a child, a new car or a
- 56:44Speaker 2: new coloring chrome color. I won't sell my car and yeah, Lenny,
- 56:49Speaker 2: what about you?
- 56:50Speaker 5: Well, I I'm trying to edge my way into sir.
- 56:57Speaker 5: It is their new show where they it's all scissors
- 57:01Speaker 5: of all different sizes cutting things as they're doing tricks.
- 57:04Speaker 1: Whoa oh did you be cut? Do you want to cut?
- 57:09Speaker 1: Or do you want to be cut?
- 57:10Speaker 5: I'd love to be the cutter, but based on just
- 57:12Speaker 5: the hierarchy of things, it's it's unlikely.
- 57:15Speaker 3: Yeah on the rope track now, I'm a little nervous boy.
- 57:17Speaker 5: Yeah I as well, I as well. But anything for
- 57:21Speaker 5: work right now? Again, this movie really takes my career.
- 57:25Speaker 5: I played a little girl getting possessed and going through
- 57:29Speaker 5: four different body changes and an extra extra wide shot.
- 57:33Speaker 5: I end up eating my parents, you know, in a
- 57:37Speaker 5: scene that a lot of people called unbelievable. So I'm
- 57:43Speaker 5: just building back my career with every little step of
- 57:45Speaker 5: the way.
- 57:46Speaker 2: I help it goes well in the next movie. I'll
- 57:48Speaker 2: include you to help you.
- 57:50Speaker 5: Oh, I would absolutely love to work again, So thank
- 57:52Speaker 5: you very much.
- 57:53Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, great. I've got this great movie coming up.
- 57:56Speaker 2: It's I'm writing it right now. It's about a little
- 57:59Speaker 2: girl who becomes a mermaid and be friends these other
- 58:03Speaker 2: two little girls.
- 58:05Speaker 5: Well, if you have any adult mermaids or monsters or anything,
- 58:08Speaker 5: that would help for me.
- 58:09Speaker 2: I don't know. I feel like I don't know. The
- 58:11Speaker 2: little girl might be good.
- 58:12Speaker 5: I honestly would love a redemption opportunity there. I learned
- 58:16Speaker 5: a lot from this.
- 58:16Speaker 2: And we can add just some flippers to your tiny feet,
- 58:18Speaker 2: your tiny white feet. It look great. Maybe you don't
- 58:20Speaker 2: even have to do anything to it.
- 58:23Speaker 1: Yeah, Lenny, I mean I would love to work with
- 58:27Speaker 1: you again. Personally. I can put in a good word
- 58:29Speaker 1: for you on the project I'm working on right now.
- 58:32Speaker 1: It's Emily in Paris season two, and they go to
- 58:35Speaker 1: the catacombs quite a bit, and so that's.
- 58:38Speaker 2: Where what is she doing in the catacoats? Well, she she.
- 58:45Speaker 1: In like an effort to do some sort of social
- 58:47Speaker 1: media promo. She heads to the Bible. She finds some
- 58:50Speaker 1: pages that were put in that we're all upside down.
- 58:54Speaker 1: She figures out that there's a secret thing in the
- 58:56Speaker 1: catacombs that's like a super feminist piece of art, and
- 59:01Speaker 1: so she goes down there and she gets a little possessed.
- 59:04Speaker 1: And so I've been working with Lily Collins on you know,
- 59:07Speaker 1: proper possession technique and Lenny. You know, there is I
- 59:11Speaker 1: believe an uncast, unnamed monster in the film that hasn't
- 59:15Speaker 1: been quite set up yet. So I will I will
- 59:17Speaker 1: put in a good one.
- 59:18Speaker 5: I mean, a huge departure from the first season. It
- 59:20Speaker 5: sounds like, but very curious to see work shifted.
- 59:25Speaker 1: It really took that to heart.
- 59:27Speaker 5: So it took some genres put on them.
- 59:30Speaker 2: Garfield, you got anything coming up?
- 59:31Speaker 3: Yeah, I just wrapped up Wanda Vision and then I'm
- 59:34Speaker 3: about to be uh. I think there's a new season
- 59:36Speaker 3: of Thought.
- 59:37Speaker 2: And that was amazing.
- 59:39Speaker 3: Yeah, they really let me fly there and it really
- 59:42Speaker 3: was exciting to finally be able to do what I
- 59:43Speaker 3: can do. And I think I'm doing some with gm
- 59:46Speaker 3: o'del Toro. It's about a bunch of creatures opening a
- 59:48Speaker 3: car wash or something like that that goes so good.
- 59:54Speaker 1: That sounds funny.
- 59:56Speaker 5: Of all the people I could have a rivalry with.
- 59:58Speaker 5: It had to be the one who's working on the
- 59:59Speaker 5: things I could actually do.
- 1:00:01Speaker 3: God blessed. Gianna says, hey, by the way, just kidding.
- 1:00:05Speaker 3: She doesn't know you fucking exist, Lenny.
- 1:00:07Speaker 5: Fuck you. If I wasn't tied up into a captain's
- 1:00:13Speaker 5: not right now, I would tear you asunder.
- 1:00:15Speaker 3: Why do you think I made you beige?
- 1:00:17Speaker 5: Lenny?
- 1:00:17Speaker 3: Why do you think that character was beage because you
- 1:00:19Speaker 3: blend in with the background, so you thought she was
- 1:00:21Speaker 3: staring at you. She was staring at the walls.
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: Okay, bless you, bless you, bless you, bless you, bless you,
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: bless you, bless you, bless you, bless you, bless your
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: thro from and the tower has fallen.
