- 0:00Speaker 1: Happy White Tangy Day. Everybody. You'll probably see and hear
- 0:02Speaker 1: a bit of rgi bargie from up north today because
- 0:05Speaker 1: the Polleys are getting welcomed onto the Treaty grounds. If
- 0:08Speaker 1: you've ever been up there, or if you've never been
- 0:10Speaker 1: up there, you should easily one of the best Kiwi
- 0:14Speaker 1: weekends that you could experience. Sunshines, guarantee people of friendly grubs,
- 0:18Speaker 1: good plenty of drinks to be had at the juke
- 0:21Speaker 1: or or another watering hole, talking politics into the night.
- 0:24Speaker 1: Great time. Protest is an important part of democracy. Lance's
- 0:28Speaker 1: societies boils. It keeps powerful people in check, but it
- 0:32Speaker 1: must be peaceful. The minute you start throwing fists, punching
- 0:36Speaker 1: cops and shoving people around, you lose the room. And
- 0:38Speaker 1: I've seen that happen at White Tangy several times. We
- 0:41Speaker 1: all have seen it happen at many protests about a
- 0:44Speaker 1: whole bunch of different issues. I might add, I hope
- 0:47Speaker 1: it doesn't happen this year. There is apparently a group
- 0:50Speaker 1: of twenty online who apparently say that they are ready
- 0:53Speaker 1: to be arrested in the name of protests, and what
- 0:55Speaker 1: a shame that would be. If there's one thing we've
- 0:58Speaker 1: shown each other as a country over the past fortnight,
- 1:01Speaker 1: with the storms and the floodings and the landslides and
- 1:04Speaker 1: then the cleanup. It's that we are still quite a
- 1:07Speaker 1: united and down to earth country, I reckon. The politicians
- 1:11Speaker 1: might argue, the lobby groups hiss in raw, but at
- 1:13Speaker 1: its heart New Zealand is mostly made up of decent
- 1:17Speaker 1: people who look up for each other. We saw Maday
- 1:20Speaker 1: house and feed and water their neighbors. I saw farmers
- 1:24Speaker 1: being fed by cooyer on Madey. We saw farmers helping
- 1:28Speaker 1: clear maldi own land of debris. We saw tradees and
- 1:32Speaker 1: workers leaping to help terists trapped under rubble. They might
- 1:36Speaker 1: fight about race and parliament, but the reality on the ground,
- 1:40Speaker 1: as you and I both know well, is way more
- 1:43Speaker 1: chill than they make out, much more chill than we
- 1:46Speaker 1: in the media make out too. To be fair, we're
- 1:48Speaker 1: basically a nation of hard working people of all different
- 1:52Speaker 1: cultures and colors, who sometimes disagree but mostly get on
- 1:57Speaker 1: with life and look after each other. Of course, there
- 1:59Speaker 1: are exceptions, but that's exactly the point. There are exceptions,
- 2:03Speaker 1: not the rule, and this white tangy day, especially given
- 2:07Speaker 1: how badly some other democracies have gone to the dogs.
- 2:10Speaker 1: I think that's something surely worth celebrating. So happy, Why tangy? Everybody?
