- PAC'd 12: Welcome back to the Pac Twelve, your fair podcast for all things Pac Twelve. I'm Salmon Nash. And to my left, as usual, Brett Beerman, to my right, Kate Bessett in front of me for the first time on the show. We got Dan, aka US U The Right Blue, a part of the Scotsman Show Pod. Thank you so much, Dan, for taking time out of your day to join us on the show. Yeah, Go Aggies. Go Aggies. You had a you had a really good Friday night, didn't you? With that win over Washington State. Yeah, I'm really excited to talk about the the second half was a lot better than the first and yeah. Three games then you guys run a bye. But yeah, hop hope you guys enjoyed your your weekend and you you know, still got f NFL and some other stuff going on, hopefully. But yeah. I I I'm a Grady Brosserhouse believer, so I we're we're we're we're gonna fight this fight together, me and you, Dan. Yeah, for sure. Yeah. He's saying this the game's slowing down for him. So so so yeah, we'll we'll we'll see. But we we've had a kind of a little bit of a issue with with quarterbacks this year, but yeah, the defense is is yeah, keeps keeps us in it. So yeah, excited to to talk about that. All right, we will get to football momentarily in a second, but first of course we gotta do s little housekeeping. Of course wanna give some s thank yous. We've hit a bunch of milestones recently, I believe everywhere on different platforms. On Instagram we hit a hundred followers and on YouTube, how many subscribers are we at, Brett? We are at eighty one. Eighty one. So we hit that big eighty, almost at a hundred, y'all. So if you're listening, please hit that subscribe button on YouTube. We want to get to a hundred. But for honestly, Halloween. That should be the goal. We should yeah, that should be achievable. We should we got that. And I believe on Twitter we hit a monster as well. Correct me if I'm wrong. Eighty something. I believe eighty two. Also hit the eighty mark on the Twitter. But thank you so much for the support on every single platform. Make sure you're following us everywhere. Instagram, Twitter X, YouTube. It's all gonna be Pac Twelve Pod. So thank you so much. Guess to a hundred subscribers for sure. YouTube is a priority 'cause we want to do more for y'all, including more episodes and we wanna do more collabs like we're doing with other pages like in other podcasts. So that does that. I think we also just gonna go over briefly other sports before we get into football. volleyball. The Pac twelve doesn't update their volleyball standing, so Forgive me if I'm wrong on a couple of things, but I'm gonna just assume Colorado State did take down their opponent yesterday 'cause I do know they're playing. Oregon State might have been their opponent. I'm pretty sure. It might it was a good game. I know that for sure. Texas State did lose to Wazoo. I know that 'cause I was at that game. So Wazoo rises up in the standings. They are very good. They're very good. They are very good. They didn't they were missing their ace as well, but it didn't matter. They took down the Bobcats in four sets, so that was a huge win for them. And I n I do know Boise State was I think it was Boise State, Oregon State though. Fresno. Fresno State Boise Boise State beat Utah State, looks like Boise State Utah State. I'm sorry, I'm looking at football. My apologies. Boise State beat Utah State. So then I assume Colorado State was playing Oregon State. I'm assuming Colorado State Oregon State, yep, you're right. Did they take that one? They did three to one. Three to one. Dang. So the number one And it was number two yesterday, but they take that down. So Colorado State once again asserting their dominance on the court and it seems to be they're gonna be running away with this one. And two a weekend for Boise as well. They took Fresno and a sweep. Bang. Did you mention Wazoo also put the hammer down on Texas State? Yep, sir. Yeah, shout out Elion. With all three of us in attendance too. Yeah. Yep. The Cougars got it done in a much needed win. Only the top four For volleyball advance into the tournament, so they're trying to lock it up. It seems one and two are already there, but actually San Diego State is pretty tied up deck and deck with Boise as well. So interesting fighting for that fourth spot at the moment. Or in soccer, though, they do update their standings for the most part. Boise, on top of that, with three and in conference play, only one loss and one draw overall in the season with eleven wins. Utah State, believe they're still ranked. They are also undefeated in the conference. They got ten Two and two, two losses and two draws. And then Wazoo and Colorado State, three and four, with both with two and one in conference play. Washington State still with these two teams are very interesting just because Washington State is five wins, four losses, three draws, and Colorado State still with a very negative record, three wins, eight losses, and two draws. But two of those three wins have come in the conference play. All that matters. Dan Got a question for you. Who do I got who would I gotta schmooze in Logan to get my hands on one of those soccer jerseys? The blackout the blackout ones. man. Yeah, I would I would love to know. you'll have to let me know. But I I I love how the soccer team's going and real quick, I I I thought it like, you know, it is a testament to you know how we're doing that. I mean, you guys had that countdown on your page, I think like before like the other game hit final and so like that that was that ranked matchup was just like a really sweet way to kick off I think like pack twelve play. I know that yeah be being at home I think that gives us quite the advantage because like we haven't lost we we've tied but we haven't lost a home game in like a couple years now. So who knows maybe we'll we'll see each other again for the the Pac twelve. The Pac twelve championship will be in Logan next month so that'll be that'll be sick. Yeah that is true. That's awesome. I didn't know that. Great turnout for soccer. That field is awesome too. Yeah. I was saying on Bobcat radio on Friday that Utah State's soccer field is like with women's soccer is like Boise State's field is with football. Like it's just a place that you just want to play at. It's super cool, the environment's awesome, and Logan's just like a great soccer town. Yeah, we got lights now. I think until recently, I've you know w we've been trying to get more money, get get stuff, and so now we can do night games and yeah, having lights at a soccer field is is a good thing for sure. Absolutely. They're playing lights out, especially there. So big shout out to the Aggie soccer team. They they will be hosting the Pac-12 championship. That is a correct so there's little talks about that because of the altitude they do have and that the fact that they haven't lost in three years. So it'll be interesting to see how things play out. But to finish the rest of the standings, San Diego State, right behind Colorado State, one one and one, a perfect point in each category. 732 overall. Then Oregon State, no wins. They got one draw and a loss, and then the last three teams at the bottom, Texas State, Gonzaga, and Fresno State, all without a win in conference play. Texas State is the only one of those three teams to have a winning record at seven, three, and two. I will say on women's soccer, Oregon State almost got their first win in conference play on Thursday night at home, hosting San Diego State, but With seven minutes left to go, San Diego State scored two goals to tie it, make it a draw, and that last goal came in the eighty eighth minute. That one was sent, but for whatever reason I turned that on and watched it. And I I wasn't disappointed. Hey, man, you gotta love Pac-12 soccer, man. Underrated. But we're gonna move on to football now. That is the main sport. The big talking point of the town, especially this week, it was a slate of the ages, a little bit of everything. Colorado State and Texas State took the week off to regroup, but There was no shortage of fireworks. In the first game of the slate, we had a Friday night one. We could just go right into it. We c we got the guest here himself. Utah State Wazoo. The Aggies came back down sixteen to three to win seventeen to sixteen in a high stakes matchup between some of the bottom of the Pac 12, but still a great win for the Aggies. And Dan, how are you feeling coming off that game Friday night? Must have a huge win for you, Bro. Yeah, it was really fun because yeah, like I said, the first first half was frustrating. I I saw, yeah, we like we fumbled the kickoff for first of all, like the first first play, right? And so that that's not good. And and then yeah, Washington State started making some field goals. and just yeah, we're we're starting, you know, being up sixteen to to three in the first half. That was that was tough and I think just looking on social media, a lot of Aggie fans were were not feeling super hopeful. They they had some frustrations about you know, we got a new offensive coordinator this year, Robert and I. He's he's been with Bronco at BYU in Virginia and you know, Kevin McGiven has just been killing it at at the the U and the they they shut us out thirty three to zero. So it's like our offense has just been kind of this l little bit of a frustration this year, but I I'm glad that we're able to find a way to to win. Astra Cunningham gotta shout him out. He just played lights out. He forced a few fumbles, like had like sixteen, seventeen tackles, like and he was the guy that they were interviewing. He's he I don't know if conference awards have come out, but I I would think I think we should petition if somehow he does not get defensive player of the week. So yeah, just well I got I got good news for you, Dan, coming up later in the show. okay, good. Excited to hear it. Sorry to interrupt you, Dan. not till you go go ahead, I'll let you finish your point and then I'll ask you question. yeah. Well yeah, I'm just glad that that that we won the the game. Like you guys said, like being Grady Broster House Believers, it's like it it it's a it's tough 'cause like McKay Hill said, I just had a lot of love and respect for him. He he he lit it up against James Madison c as a true freshman, nearly came back and then he goes to BYU for a couple of years and like No disrespect to our to BYU dan dan down there, but like I just I just don't know what happened 'cause he he he just was struggling. He's a he's a little bit undersized. He's like maybe my high. I mean I like a what am I like five nine, five ten, and so they he's listed at that, but you never know. Like it's a perfectly average height, Dan. Don't let people tell you differently. Okay, yeah. But in and but for college quarterbacks, just being able to see over those defenses, like I imagine that's that's pretty tough and like even though he's athletic, I Nick Grady's a little bit bit taller and he he's able to use his legs. Like McKay runs like a ten point five like one hundred and high school track, but but I imagine football is a little bit different being able to to scramble and just having a bigger body to absorb some of those hits. Like it just seems like once McKay gets rattled a little bit and got injured, that was tough. And I I hope they find ways 'cause I I feel like in the past, maybe there's like a successful cause cause McKay was a really elite high school quarterback in in Utah. But but and and I know some really elite high school quarterbacks that that maybe it doesn't pan out in college, but maybe they find something on special teams or I hope we find ways to use him even if it's not looking like he's like like I I I agree with you guys. I'm I'm I believe in Grady. Al also Caleb Marilyn from like a Texas high school football, you might be familiar with like like he I think he won a state championship at like the highest level. And so a lot of of us want would love Like when things are going bad, we're like, Caleb Maryland, like what should we do with that? And and we'll we'll see. like hopefully, you know, Grady Brosterhouse is healthy and can the game can continue to slow down for him 'cause on homecoming he said like the game started slowing down and he was able to do well. Like I th I think that was the only time we scored over twenty points. And so it seems like the the the defense at Utah State is like, Okay, you need us to keep the offense, opposing offense under twenty points, like bet we're gonna keep it keep Washington State to zero points in the second half. So just exc excited that we won. Like, you know, any win is a good win. It it was like as close as you can get to an ugly win, but it's still win and and it's still like a little bit of an uphill climb to get to bull eligibility. But after Washington State beat us in the potato bowl last year, I think that there there were probably some guys in the team that like had a had a little bit of a chip on their shoulder, wanted a little bit of revenge. I remember last year around Christmas time, I invited my friend over and we had all these potato like side dishes and it was super fun. And so the game started and then watching the state just kicked our butts. And then now they got a new c new coach and yeah. And so I'm excited that we got our first Pac-Twelve win and looking forward to enjoying some other Pac-Twelve games in the bye-week. I I I have a lot of teams that I follow, and probably don't follow all the Pac-Twelve teams as closely as you guys, like being a kind of Texas state-based, but like Pac-Twelve focused podcast. So excited to see how How the slate goes this week. Caleb Maryland won a state championship at North Shore, which is like a top five high school in the state of Texas highest level. So wow. You hit that right on the nail. but talk about the people in Logan. because I think we can all agree watching that game, they show up and for it to happen, you know, in a season that pretty maybe's not going so good. you know, you're hoping for it to be better. The offense isn't really electric and super exciting, but the defense is. than to go out and win in the way they did, and I'm sure all twenty thousand people in Logan were enjoying that one. Yeah, that's that's been really refreshing to see because in the Mountain West, sometimes like, especially as it gets colder in Logan, like we haven't seen yet. Like we'll see when we get back after we play you guys, we have a Halloween game and then yes, in the November months. I hope that attendance continues because I think the team will need that. we were five and one last year on at home, but then one and five on the road. So I think I I I I gotta say it might be a little bit of the Pac Twelve effect where fans in Logan are excited to be in the Pac Twelve. I get it I get that it's a little bit different than the Pac Twelve of the past, but but we got some of the best teams in the Mountain West, some of the the teams kind of left over in the Pac twelve and then and then you guys for football and then we'll add Ad Gonzaga and basketball. I think Logan in general is is hyped. It's not the biggest town if if if you ever go to it, but it's really beautiful. It's kind of like one of those hidden gems. in Utah, like y i it it's like maybe a half hour, it's a little bit off the interstate. And so people think it's just like buried deep out there. But it's it's really like f fun to do. If you love the outdoors and you love like college sports, it's a classic college town. And so I I think that Logan, like people in Logan are starting to realize that and and start attending more that they always show up for for basketball and that's only a ten thousand seats they gotta fill. But I think it's like close to twenty five K might be capacity and we've gotten over the twenty K mark every time. So like whenever we're we're above twenty K, I feel pretty good if we're like in the 10 to 15, like like if the that that means something's g going wrong. So I I think that they're they're doing a lot of renovations and I think Cam Walker is an athletic director is doing well. there's no it's a dry campus, so no beer, but they do have this thing called Aggie Hour where the an hour before the game they got all these concession deals. they're they're gonna rename the stadium next year to Jim Lobb Family Stadium because he's like that one rich guy in Logan that's just donated so much money and kept the Aggie program afloat. So so yeah, just looking forward to seeing what Aggie football looks like in the future. But the when I guess when I was in school it was called Romney Stadium because one of our Dick Romney, he was one of the our good coaches back decades ago. But then Maverick is like the local gas station, you know, here in the mountain. I don't know if they have mountain. Maverick where you guys are at in Texas, but it's it's kind of just this gas station that's here in the mountain mountain time zone and and so they they've been great for a while but it's it's cool to see a new chapter of like yeah Jim Lobb I think he's in the if you I think he's in some some type of hall of fame just because of how much he's donated. He owns like Cash Valley Electric, which is like a company that started in Cash Valley but it's like an electric company that just like internationally is like or yeah just they they sell stuff all over for like electric stuff. But anyways, he's he's been very generous to the Aggies and it's nice to have people like that, like alumni that that have money, right? Like you guys probably have some oil money in Texas. We got that and then like some cooking money with crumble. But yeah. Anyways I guess wrong side of the state of it. It's probably rambling, but but yeah, I guess just to back back to your guys' point, the the the the yeah, Aggie fans are excited and they have a good reason to be, especially like we'll Like we guys talked about soccer. Soccer's awesome. Football, like we're we're believing, we're trusting the process, right? With Bronco Menonhall, he's kind of rebuilding this team that after Blake Anderson, I mean, Blake won a championship in twenty twenty one, but there's kind of a fallout there. And so Bronco was hired to do what he does best and like he rebuilt like Virginia into like a I think they made the sugar bowl after a couple of y years where he had to rebuild. And so it's a it's definitely a process. we'll have to see how it goes. But and I also was there at the preseason basketball game yesterday. I wasn't able to attend the game, unfortunately on Friday. You know, got family stuff. Gotta gotta balance it out a little bit. Can't go to every single game. But like the I I was really excited about basketball and and there was the the herd, the the student section, they were chanting. My wife always thinks it's funny 'cause they they're th they get as about as disrespectful as you can be in Utah. They those chant you suck like in a lot of their chants. Yeah, it's it's so it's it's really awesome. I'm excited to see you know, Logan get that Pac twelve that they've been waiting for 'cause, you know, we always had to look at, you know, down the road, like Utah, BYU, they kind of were in the whack and said, Lil Bro, like we don't want you guys in with us and so they're just always a step ahead. And so like Pac twelve, it's it's awesome. It's a good step. It'll be interesting to see how college football goes with like realignment and everything. But I hope that the Pac twelve lasts for a long time and I don't know if we'll add any other members, but at least right now it's like eight eight strong and then nine strong in basketball. So excited to see how that goes. Yeah, I I wanted to talk to real quick, right back to to football about the rush the rushing game for Utah State. I we kind of saw it this week when they can establish the run a little bit. It seems like their offense can be somewhat effective and at least like move down the field a little bit. What what has been the hesitation by Brock O'Mindenhall? to start the year to like not really lean on the run and kind of lean on Grady Braustrauss to kinda sling it and take it himself. Yeah, so Jacan Javen Jacobs was a stud last year. And I think with that, with Kevin McGivin, that was successful. And I know there's been a little bit of a frustration, like at first, right? Like we were not getting much running of a running game going. there's a little some concepts, like you know, and getting into the X and O's, I don't understand as much as obviously the coaches do, but there's like a delayed mesh concept where there just like seems to be this delayed handoff and it seemed like they were getting the kinks out, but looking at the the stats, you know, like the the running stats have definitely improved. yeah, versus Troy and even in verse Boise State seemed like the running game was going well and like passing game, it's like it's it's good when we throw to the right team, right? When we're throwing to the wrong team, that that hurts us. But like looking at it, where where were we at for rushing for for this game specifically? Not our best rushing game, but we we we've seen improvements in in that. And in the turnover battle, we won the turnover battle, right? We we fumbled the kickoff, but then recovered two fumbles. So shout out to the defense. But yeah, I do think that it is important to be two dimensional, right? Because if you can't run the ball, then then it just makes it easy for the defense to sit back and just like try to jump the route right, try to pick pick you off, which which has happened more than we would like. especially to start the year like We played three ranked teams, right? Like Boise, Washington. I I mean and granted, yeah, Washington's not as good now, but yeah, at least two teams that are currently ranked in Utah and Boise State. but but that Idaho State loss. That that is a rough way to start Pac twelve. Well, not Pac twelve play, but your first year as a member of the Pac twelve. yeah, fans of the big sky, they were gloating about that a little bit and I mean I just kinda brought back like A little bit of memories of in twenty twenty two with Blake Anderson, we lost to an in state team, Weber State. And so it's like if we can avoid losing to those FCS schools. I mean, s respect football, like FCS schools can ball too. But I think next year we got Mercy Hurst, so I hope we get some more mercy and like are able to do better than them. 'Cause Big Sky has got some tough, tough teams. So hopefully, you know, we gotta prove as as a pack twelve that we We we try not to lose those. I don't know if anybody else in the Pac twelve lost FCS game. So we we got that one out of the way, so hopefully nobody else had to to deal with that this year. Thank you guys for thank you guys for your service. Yeah, no FCS is very physical, man. No one wants to hear about that, but they are. But I wanna ask, you got the bye week you talked about earlier. What do you think what do you wanna see coming out of this bye week? You know the team's got a week to reflect on it. You got a big one heading into it. What do you wanna see coming out for the bye week for this team? so yeah, a couple of things. Just I think health is really good. I know Bronco Mendenhall mentioned there's there's some health, you know, in the trenches that that, you know, we want to just be get a little bit some some of our top guys back and we do have a good next man up mentality, but I know we got a a team we're we're we're going on the road to Texas State and you know you guys are are good. I I've heard a lot of good things about the the the receiving core. It's it's a different Texas State team from my member. The only time I remember playing you guys w when I was a student, was the last year in the WAC and it was kind of a interesting transition year where yeah, there was some teams going in the WAC when we were on our way to Mountain West and that was one of our best seasons ever. So I think that that game we did pretty well and you guys were probably transitioned, right? s somewhat recently from the FCS to division one, right? And so now you guys have found your footing and into the Pac twelve. So I'm really excited. See how the team can respond. Like we want rest, but not like rest, right? We don't want to come back and just not look like look like the deer in the headlights that we have looked like in most of our games in the road. I will give a shout out at Washington. We were one Hail Mary from upsetting Washington. So I think our defense keeps us in games. It's just can the offense kind of start to figure out how to score? I don't I don't expect us to be like all of a sudden explode for like fifty points a game or whatever, but like just just getting over twenty points. It seems like if we're not gonna score twenty points against Texas State, I know you guys got some talent on the offense and might be tough to win those games on the road if we can't start consistently getting over that twenty point barrier. But I'm excited to just see some other games. Maybe I I I'm I'm excited to to tune in to see I I I forgot who you you guys are playing, but I can watch you guys while I'm on the bye and just enjoy some other games like I'm I'm probably less stressed when I'm watching other teams than than that than my own team, right? When when I'm watching the Auggies, so that'll be fun. All right now, let's just go into Washington State. Why don't we the losing team? 'Cause they kinda had a collapse in the second half. And I don't think the Kirby Moore play calling was all we hoped it would be, honestly. But I guess I'll ask the question to all of us. We'll just roll through the s show and Dan, you're just one of us, so jump in whenever you want to. The play calling was good early in the game and you know they really were east and west, kinda like a Kyle Shanahan offense. Brett, you know a lot about that. but then they just like collapse in the second half. And I don't know if we point the finger at Caden Pennick anymore or at Kirby Moore or at the offensive line, because a lot of people are saying they want to see Ian A Ian Eshelman in Pullman. I think I think everyone kinda needs to take, you know, a little bit of the blame. Obviously, when you go one and five, it's it's a group effort, right? But Yeah, maybe it's time to make the switch. You know, maybe the Caden Pennic and Wazoo has kinda run its course early. I don't wanna see them give up on him. I I mean it's we're already halfway through the season, right? And look, at this point there's nothing to lose. So if you wanna maybe develop him and keep him for next year, maybe that's like a decision you make, but I don't know, man. I think if you wanna see like some spark and like maybe something to kinda give you motivation, like maybe get a bowl game, maybe you make the switch. I wanna read off a couple staffs real quick 'cause I usually do. Ken Pennick, stat line for this game, didn't play too bad, but he threw 36 times and only had 156 yards, had 23 completions, no touchdowns, didn't turn the ball over, no INTs. He had got sacked three times, though. And he ran the ball. I mean, he got sacked three times, which means he ran the ball eight times and he only got 16 yards, net gain, 16 yards at that two. Wazoo ran the ball. They had more running yards, rushing yards than Utah State, and they had a touchdown. Lewis Pulasi, believe that's how you pronounce that. Had a good game on the ground, but Wazoo just could not find it in the air, especially in that second half. I remember especially after Utah State started building that momentum, they needed K de Penn to sling it, and he could find a guy sometimes and they would drop it. And then the other times, it's like that one time to put Utah State ahead. He found a check down, dude got peanut punched. Just stuff like that. That's like Utah State was ready to make a play. Then Wazoo kind of felt the pressure, maybe playing on the road. And that second half just ultimately collapsed on them. We saw that a couple of times this weekend from a bunch of different teams. But I don't know. I think ev like you said, everyone does take a little bit of the blame here. And I don't think Kirby Moore called a a horrible game. I thought that first half was pretty good. I thought I like seeing Pennick on the bootlegs a lot. They got him outside the pocket. Get him moving 'cause you were talking about you were telling me while we were watching it, that offensive line is so bad. Get kind of away from the box and kind of let in open space. And it does lead to good things, but like I don't even really remember what happened in the second half. It feels like forever ago, but it just I think the running game really does matter. I know Pilosi or Pulilassi, however you say it. Sixty yards on eight carries, but at the same time he had along a fifty four. Yeah. So he had a fifty four yard run and then he got six yards on seven carries. Yeah. No one else rushed for more than twenty yards. That's a problem. Like, yeah, Kirby Moore may be able to call a good game, but Maybe it don't matter 'cause the offensive line. I think it might just be the offensive line at this point. If they can't run the ball at all like that. I know Utah State has a good defense. Dan knows it. We know it. One of the best defenses in that defense ultimately won them that game. I think you can go back to Asher Cunningham, but Wallsie was the worst team in the Pac twelve. Yeah. Yeah. I gotta just add that yeah, just like I and I I think I think the Pac twelve is pretty deep from pop. top to bottom. It might not get the same respect as like we're still kind of they're they're putting us in that G six category, right? J like it used to be P five, G five, but it almost feels like that Dr. Seuss thing with the sneeches, right? Like we we're the stars, you guys aren't, but like still, I guess so the first four games, like Washington State plays the Washington the Apple Cup, right? And then they they play Kansas State and Arizona. So three P4 teams that they they won their FCS game, so they got that that going for them. And but then yeah, packed twelve play, like Fresno is looking dangerous. Like I at first I was a I raised my eyebrows I don't and and and we we can look at the weekly picks and stuff and and I thought, there's no way that Boise's gonna even like let Fresno get close, but I looking closer at it, it was on the road and it was pretty close from Fresno winning and and you guys picking up that win in the in the weekly predictions, but I guess what what I'll what I'll say on Washington State is like I th I think they're I think they're still good enough to to win games in the Pac twelve. It's just such a I mean, they're a good team, but they they played they played a lot of tough opponents. But I just I'm trying to see where the win comes. It's just maybe at San Diego State. Yeah, at some point they'll win some games. But being at one and five, I was worried like I felt like the loser of this game was probably not gonna have a shot at a bowl game 'cause When you go one and four, if now that the Aggies are at two and four, I can see a path. Like we probably need to win the next four games 'cause Oregon State and likely Boise State I think is projected to be the flex. But like but if you go one and five in this conference, it's it might be hard to recover from. Like I think they just need to keep plugging along and if they can get to a bowl game miraculously, that'd be great. It's I think bowl games are a great way to like, you know, extend the season and and help give get some more development, but yeah, it's i i i it i it's been a r I thought our start to our season was rough, but I think they've had it close to to that much. I mean, I'm a secondary Arizona fan and and they they're starting to kill it. So even though Washington State had that at home, yeah, the they they not all of their teams were ranked, but I would argue that, you know, Arizona is as as good as a lot of the the teams that we played and lost to. So it just seems like they had three losses. kind of penciled in there. Like I don't know how many other teams are playing three P four games. I I thought like even playing two P four games with Washington and and Utah w was tough. But like to play three teams of that caliber, it's just more physical. I'm sure they're worn out and and hope that they can I don't know when they got a a buy, but it's i it's not until after Halloween it looks like. So at that point, you know, hopefully they they can just keep plugging along and maybe still win. I it's gonna be tough with Oregon State and Boise State next, but I think, you know so so that they have to win at least one of those to even still be in in the hunt b b before their their by game 'cause of well I there's San Diego State, which I I think they can win that one because San Diego State's looking rough. But but yeah, I just wanted to mention that yeah, I think that the start of the season, like I I know we're trying to think of like blame to throw around, but like and you can't really blame the schedule. Like like we they The athletic director and the coaches scheduled it, so it's it's on them if if the schedule isn't panning out. But but yeah, it what a brutal schedule. They gotta figure it out. And like you said, it's hard to see where that win will come. Best chance is San Diego State. They're probably like you could argue, the other worst looking team in the conference. So we'll actually go right into that. San Diego State took on Oregon State for the second game of the Slate. And it was a blowout in Cor Vegas. The murder. Beavs took down the Aztecs sixty six to fourteen. This one was over by the honestly, the second quarter. And yeah. First quarter. Yeah. Another legacy game for the Braden Atkinson and Jesse Legree show. Their numbers continue to stack in for San Diego State. I mean, we had a great week last week and then back to reality, but I mean the floor is open for anyone who wants to talk. I mean, we know where this is gonna go. Yeah, this goes with that Braden Atkinson and Jesse Legree are just on a different level from a lot of quarterback receiver duos in the entire nation. Like I I don't care that Jesse Legree's a freshman. He's like eighteen years old, has not even been playing receiver for barely a year. I don't care that Braden Atkinson is from Mercer and FCS school. Like these dudes have come in and they flourished together and they look so good. It doesn't matter who they play. Like, mind you, no, they didn't score sixty six points or win the games against Houston or Texas Tech, but Jesse LeCree still had over a hundred yards in a touchdown. Braden Atkinson was still completing passes probably over seventy percent in those games, throwing for over two hundred yards. Like It doesn't really matter who these guys are playing, they show up and they do a really good job. Also props the offensive coordinator for Oregon State, but this team's just different, dude. I didn't think San Diego State was gonna put up a fight and I knew Oregon State was probably gonna score fifty, but holy cow they beat the brakes off of At no point in this game was it even close either. They just do everything so well. They pass the ball really well. They establish the run really well. They th and then not only that, they have a ton of guys that they can hand the ball off to. They they just have so many guys that they can lean on, so many targets. Defense, their defense is incredibly underrated. Like obviously this offense is like the talk of the nation right now. But this defense as well has been playing just absolutely incredible. And and I'm starting to hear now they're they're getting they're starting to sneak in these talks with North Dakota State getting a loss, with UT Lost in the American this week. USF lost in the American this week. UTSA still 5-1. But Oregon State could sneak in with a Pac-12 championship, could sneak into that G5 spot. And I think could really, really give some teams a headache, man. This is an awesome Oregon State team. Final stat lines from the afternoon on the Oregon State side. Brayden Atkinson, 29 for 38, 409 yards is the final total there. Five touchdowns. His long was Seventy one yards. He got sacked one time. We even saw Malik Murphy come into this ball game. He lined up a tight end and scored a tutty. Come on. What a dog. Malik Murphy. Eight for eight, fifty-three yards and a touchdown. Of course, got to go to the Heisman contender now. We all saw it in the end zone. After his third touchdown of the night, Jess Legree hit the Heisman pose. He finished his day with 10 catches, 191 yards in the hat trick. And they spread the love too to the other receivers as well. But I mean, Jesse Legree is calling his number. He they talked about in the interview. He says he feels like he's a Heisman athlete. There usually is a jinx whenever they do talk about the Heisman. You usually don't talk about the Heisman if you're a Heisman guy. But who cares? When you're a freshman, you're putting up these numbers. I think you could talk about how you're a Heisman contender. I think they're talking about it because he plays at Oregon State and not enough people are paying attention yet. But I will say Now it's starting to pick up traction. I the Heisman account on X literally reposted him doing the Heisman pose and everything. Then they put the link to the fan vote. Like, dude, we don't care about the fan vote. That carries no weight. We want him in New York, damn it. Come on. Give me Jesse Legree in New York. That's the problem, kid. And I love watching Oregon State. I could watch them blow out anybody all the time. And Dan, how you feel about this game? Did were you able to watch this game? No, I I was I was looking at it. I I I watched more of Boise State, but as an Aggie fan, I know that San Diego State is kind of our rival, especially more so in in football or no and more so in basketball, right? Because those are both of us have have done pretty well recently. but yeah, football, I think we've I think we've won the last few against them. So yeah, was excited to see Oregon State win. Maybe a little bit excited that San Diego State lost there, but yeah, l Jesse Legree, he looks like a a stud. I I was gonna ask you guys, I'm like, yeah, Oregon State, 'cause I've seen a lot of people say Oregon State might be better than Boise State. And that's just hard because, you know, I I've been in the Mountain West with Boise and they are they're kinda the powerhouse, right? And I Oregon State w was never a powerhouse in the Pac twelve, but they they might have they might have had some years here or there. And so I guess it's just hard for me to to just proclaim Oregon State is better, but it it will be cool. You know, and unless unless some other team dark horse, like who knows, maybe my Aggie is just run the table. But see after seeing how we after seeing how we we looked against Boise State, like I I hope we don't have to face them again in the flex week. Like if we can somehow win the next four four games like Man, bo Oregon State that's at Corvallis, that'll be tough for us. But yeah, I guess I'll just leave the floor up to you guys. Like, do you guys think that Oregon State, it isn't if you had to rank the the team in the conference, would you put Oregon State ahead of Boise State yet? Or or what are your thoughts? I'll answer that by saying like if if they were to match up, I think what what separates these these two teams is how good Oregon State can sling it and how terrible Boise State second secondary is. I think that's the deciding factor right there. I think they're pretty well evenly matched up and everything else, obviously, besides Oregon State's offense. Not saying Boise State's offense can't keep up either. We'll get to them later, but yeah, I think that's what it comes down to is is Braden Atkinson and Jesse Legree gonna be able to dice up a very like a not a very good Boise State secondary. Like that's I think that's really what it comes down to. Yeah, you took the words right out of my mouth. I was gonna say the same thing. I think what that one would come down to Is Oregon State's rushing defense? Yeah, I was just thinking that. Braden Atkinson doesn't make a lot of mistakes either though, and we know Maddox Madsen doesn't. He doesn't have an interception this year. so I it either comes down to Boise State's run or Oregon State's run defense, and if they're able to contain Dylan Riley and Sire Gaines, then also maybe is who's gonna make the mistake first, Brayden Atkinson or Maddox Madsen. I personally right now think it's hard to dismantle Boise from the top. And I don't wanna sound like, you know, the same people we've been just hating on Boise for no reason because they are the best team. I think if they played next week, I think Oregon State would beat Yeah, and I think I'm more or less on y'all guys' side. I just think it's gonna be really hard. The hardest part for Oregon State, if they ever do play, is to get Maddox Madsen off schedule. So hard to do. He's just so good. He's very consistent. He's so good at just keeping the keeping the offense together on schedule. He never that Fresno stay last night. I mean, he just makes the correct decision every time. It doesn't matter if the play breaks down, he has to scramble. He always finds the wide open guy. He always just knows where to get the ball to. And Oregon State defense has that potential. I just think the front seven of Boise has more of a chance to maybe just make. Atkinson uncomfortable. Maybe he has to roll out. Maybe he looks to Legree and it's just not there. But it's just hypotheticals at the end of the day. But I do think at the moment, Oregon State's just looking a little bit hotter than Boise. But yeah. That running game is insane. Sire Gaines and Dylan Riley could easily just steal that game from Oregon State if they can't contain them. If they can't stop Oregon State's offense, Boise will be in trouble when they do play. Because you don't want to get in a shootout with that team. Right, you you can only run the ball so much with Dylan Riley and Cyre Gain. So yeah. I I think it it's definitely gonna depend on when they're one. sorry. No, you're good. It's just gonna depend on when they actually play and where both teams are like streak wise and how they've looked. Yeah, I was gonna say that November fourteenth it's on the Smurf Turf and just for for you guys just to familiarize I maybe some of the yeah, people aren't as familiar on this podcast with the this Murph turf, but the the Aggies ha have not won there I think since the twentieth century, back when I think Boise was like one double A and we we beat him at our place in yeah twenty fifteen but it's been it it's tough to win there, especially and people make them the excuse like okay they're they're wearing blue on blue. I mean I are we gonna say the same thing about Colorado State like when they were green on on their on their turf but like but yeah it it it's gonna be tough like W with with it being on the smirk turf, Boise doesn't lose as often there. So yeah, like you said, maybe if it was today on a neutral site, take Oregon State, but taking Boise like on the fourteenth of November, yeah, Boise looks pretty good. it does seem like in the Heisman race, like the Legree might be ahead of of Riley right now, right? He's killing it as a receiver, but Riley, you know, like Boise isn't like a stranger to having the Heisman candidate, right? Because they had Ashton Gente just a few years ago and he was just also equally a a stud. So yeah, it'd be interesting to see what happens in the next month. I like that you bring that up. I was thinking that as you were getting to that point, you brought us into that. Well, Dylan Riley could very well be in contention for the highs. Do want to transition to the Boise game? I believe that Dylan Riley leads the nation in rushing yards, especially after last night. hundred and fifty yards, yeah. Before we get to Boise State here in just a second, Jane Denigal stinks five for nineteen, seventy eight yards. got benched. That's all I have to say. They stink. Yeah, no. Sean Lewis's press conference was like less than a minute, I believe. Really? I didn't get to watch it. Some Aztec fan account said something like it was thirty five seconds r long and I saw the clip and the clip cut off, but I don't know if the press conference ended. So interesting. Either way, you lose sixty six of fourteen. You gotta face the press, brother. Gotta face the press and The saxophones are only getting louder for Sean Lewis and San Diego State. Not too much to say besides what we already have. They just struggled, got blown out. Lucky to score fourteen even. But yeah, just gotta go back to drawing board. Not sure if they play. yeah. by the way, it's on San Diego State's athletic account that the press conference is literally thirty six seconds long. That's a little bit interesting. Can't have that happen to you. Bronco Mindenhall would never This is true. He would break rocks on the press conference table if he had to. He just loves to talk about punting when we lose, but then we then he's he's a hoppy camper. And San Diego say we'll have to worry about Fresno next week so doesn't get any easier. But speaking about Fresno, let's just talk about that last game of the night. It was the main event for the Pac twelve. It was number one versus number two in Fresno. The Boys State Broncos took on The Fresno State Bulldogs, and when it was a heated affair, the Broncos took them down 38-31 off that beautiful running game. We talked about Dylan Riley, Sire Gaines, the one-two punch combined for 270 yards. And we talked about Max Madsen. Perfect day at the office. 23-24, 240 yards roundup for you, brother. Two touchdowns, no turnovers. Jada Mandal, also a good game in his own right. 19 completions, 33 attempts, 218 yards. Two touchdowns and he did on the ground as well, at thirty yards on the ground with a touchdown, so he had a hat trick of his own. But unfortunately for Fresno just could not get it done. But what a game it was. After dark pack twelve, we are so back. I gotta give Fresno at least a little bit of grace here. They the offense played really well in that first half. We w we were watching it together. That I I mean we were amped to watch Fresno's offense. That opening drive was really nice. That this the the rush Defense scares me. Two weeks in a row now, you've led over two hundred yards in the first half to rushing, and I understand Dylan Riley, Sire Gaines, even Maddox Madsen in the mix. That's very tough to stop. I understand that, but when you do it when you do it the week prior to Rice, it now is like a very glaring, obvious weakness that's like, Okay, so someone's gotta stop the run. And like when they face teams like Texas State who have Torrance Burgess and and like a really good running back room. They have coming up. Sorry, I don't have their schedule in front of me real quick. Sorry. Boys, Fresno State plays San Diego State. And they have Oregon State coming up as well in in a couple weeks. Like that's gonna be an an incredibly tough matchup for them. Listen, but they they played really well. This offense is slowly, slowly picking up and getting a little better. Jade Mandal is looking a little more comfortable. Christian Martin played pretty well in the in the limited snaps he got on the one touchdown. It was a five yard curl and like Forty yards of yak, but still it i it it doesn't matter. You don't ask how. They don't ask how you're right. One thing I will say is they got to establish the run too. Something that they're normally really good at. Boise State just had didn't had an answer for him. And it they they weren't able Jade Mandel is not good enough to win that game by himself. You have to be able to lean on your run, and Boise State was able to capitalize. First half was great. That was some of the most electric football we'd seen in a long time. I mean, they were showing the numbers on the CW broadcast. KV on Thunderbird all over the place. yeah. The amount of plays that were ten, fifteen plus yards from scrimmage, like there was a lot of them. There was a lot of explosive plays. great scripted drive by Matt Ints. Thank goodness KV on Thur Thunderbird didn't get pulled out the game for targeting. That's right. Thank goodness they got that right. The flag was necessary, but not the targeting. They got that right. Totally, hundred percent. that was just an electric game. And I think it the this whole thing, I fell asleep right as the second half started. All right. I couldn't do it two weeks in a row. especially after the heartbreak I experience. it it just boils down to Maddox Madsen knowing what to do and when to do it and then having his safety blankets and gains and Riley. You know, if you if you can really just turn to the guy to your side or behind you, give them the ball and expect f five plus yards every time they get it, y you don't have to do much, but when they do throw it, he knows what he's doing, he knows where he's going and he does a very good job of that. Mandal looks looks really good. I think nineteen and thirty three isn't terrible. But like he makes a lot of good decisions too. With taking that keeper up the middle, I believe that was their first touchdown. He ran it up the middle. he did a good job with his legs too. Fresno shouldn't be worried, upset, mad, anything like that. They just played Boise State, you know. Boise State does a really good job too. The close the the the final score looks a lot closer than than I will say what it actually was. Yeah, they ran away. That third and fourth quarter, Boise was suffocating Fresno. Yeah. I texted in the group chat. I think y'all were I don't know if you were asleep. I think Ken was asleep. I said Fresno stayed his dying a slow, painful depth. This is exactly how I would describe it. Yeah. It ran out of g ran out of gas in the end against a boise team that has a lot of depth, and this is what they do. They wear you down. And they did just that with the run game. But Dan, what were your thoughts about this game? It was a great game, wasn't it? Yeah, it was it was one where I was yeah, I I was I was trying to pull the the sicko, like just stay up. I I think I stayed up till the Very near end I was like, Okay, it looks like Boise's won this, right? And so it i it it is cool. I I was thinking about like our our T V deal. You mentioned just the the the CW. It looks like we we've had a couple of those games and I I I'm not super familiar with the channel. I was looking at it and be before the Aggie game on Friday, I think they were showing reruns of like young Sheldon, Big Bang Theory. I like I I love seeing those some of those and then like late night, like after the game, it looks like there were like some soap opera or something, but looks like just because more CBS sports. But yeah. like you guys said, I am excited that the Pac twelve after dark is back and hope that, you know, I I I tend to stay away from caffeine. Like I I got my Doctor Pepper here, but I tend to stay from it away from it late at late at night just because then I can't then I'm just up all night, right? So but but yeah, I I think it was a fun it's it's good to have a ranked team. Even though like it was not it that one was on the CW too, right? So like I think that that that yeah, maybe it's not the channel that everybody thinks of when they think of football, but it most people have it. It's it's on my YouTube TV. So like I'm like pe people wanna see a ranked team and you know, go see Pac twelve after dark. Like if you're like some maybe people are at a bar or just they're just sitting at home, like it's it's a it's great for the conference to have. twelve after dark because like especially when there are crazy games, right? Like Aggies were crazy on Friday and then Boise on Saturday. So you can't ask for much better, like at night time. My wife probably wonders like, so okay, why is there games from ten AM to like midnight? It's just it's the beauty of college football, right? Dan, as a fellow father myself, man, we we got we you know you should you should know a thing or two about having to like stay up pretty late on on minimal sleep, man. yeah, my I have a three year old and a a seven year old now. So so yeah, I I tend to be able to watch more on on the big screen after they go to bed 'cause they wanna watch like blue while the football's on. So I I got the iPad always as my backup, right? Gotta gotta keep them happy but but gotta still c watch the games. Righty, well, I think that covers it for the recap. I guess we can go into the next week. We can go picks now. Unless before that, I want to talk to Brett for his Pac twelve player of the week. Give me one sec real quick. Let me pull up the stat line real quick. For our player of the week, Dan, I as I mentioned earlier, I you're gonna be pretty happy to hear this. you're talking about Asher Cunningham, you know, beginning the recognition he deserves. Well, he's getting it right here. the first defensive player to win the Pac twelve player of the week. Asher Cunningham, seventeen total tackles, seventeen solo, half a sack and two tackles for loss. He was also two force fumbles. And two force fumbles. So he is the anch he was the anchor of that defense that gave you guys that that awesome win over Washington State. Look, you could s you could we could talk about how bad both these teams are. You got the win regardless. It was a great win. and Asher Cunningham, congratulations, player of week. Bang. That's that's awesome. So is that is that the conferences or is that your guys' rankings. Mine mine personally. Okay, that's awesome. You know that that that that's that's even cooler. So yeah. Trying get recognized. Yeah. offensively curious. Like yeah, I agree totally about Asher. Maybe I don't know if there's a guy on the Aggies that would be the offensive player of the week. I wanted to give it to Grady Brosserhouse, Dan. I did. They wouldn't let me but yeah maybe he's gotta get over twenty twenty five points before maybe But yeah, offensively, who who would you guys say was the the offensive player of the week if you had to like give one on that side I mean is it is it is it is it so painfully obvious Jesse Legree or Braden Atkinson or do we go like somebody else? I like Dylan Riley's had a game. Dylan Riley had a good game, yeah, hundred fifty yards, a touchdown, sire gains as well. Like it was a good it was a good weekend for offensive. And you can even go Jaden Mandal too for Fesno State if you you want to pick a well. I understand, but yeah, still a pretty good Maddox Madsen as well a good game. I think it i is between if I had to pick two, I'd probably say Jesse Legree or Dylan Riley. I'd say that's the I think it's I'm just tired of picking an Oregon State player every week, so I wanted to mix it up, you know. I think we're about to see Jesse Legree get six Pac twelve freshmen of the weeks in a row. Without a doubt. Like there's no way they go any other way. There's no other freshman even playing close to this level in the country. Hopefully they show Dylan Riley some love. That comes out tomorrow. It's currently Sunday at this recording, but yeah. Mondays when that stuff comes out. So I imagine Dylan Riley should get offensive player just, you know, Brayden Atkinson, y you did play San Diego State. We did get Boise and the AP poll again at twenty three. Just think they stayed their spot. Yeah. Bang. So I mean, yeah. So I think now we'll just move on to picks. We'll look on to the next week, week seven now, I believe. Dan, we don't have a guest picker for next week. Do you just want to do this week as well? Yeah, that'd be fun. Aggies out, I can help it be. I I meant like I was surprised that we all picked the Aggies. I thought I at first I was gonna be a be a Hummer last week, so now I can be No man, we we had to ride with you then. I'm a believer. It worked out for all of us. Yeah, barely. I will say, he does Dan does deserve to pick for two weeks in a row because he's the only guest picker to go undefeated. I know there was only three games. But it's true. There's only gonna be three games. They don't ask how. They don't ask how. I mean, I will say me and Dan are the only people to go undefeated in one week. You know I'm eight and in one week, he's three no. I'm just saying. All right. I thought you guys were just giving me a gift though, like when you when you didn't pick Boise State, I was like I remember one of my friends commented on it and he's like, Wait, 'cause he's a Boise State fan and he's Wait, nobody picked Boise? Like it was a straight for Fresno, but Dan, I was pissed about that. I was pissed about that. He did not know we were gonna go 'cause that's my that's been my team this whole this whole football season and they just betrayed me like that. Can you believe that? Fresno? Yeah, I I've been I've been rooting for Fresno all year. I previewed them to begin the year. They're they're awesome, yeah. And I and they and they betrayed me by picking them alongside the If you betrayed you by supporting you, my bet, yo. All right. I'm a little nervous to play them. I think they they come start in November. They they come to the to the to Logan. So hopefully we're we're ready by that point. Hopefully Grady's ready for the Grady game, right? The Grady Legacy. The Grady Legacy. The Grady game. Come on. All righty. Well, Gray's have to wait a little bit. He's gonna take his bye week, so but the first game on the week seven slate, they took the week off and they're gonna show out under the lights Thursday night. Colorado State will be traveling to San Marcus to take on the Texas State Bobcats. Haas Heine should be back. We haven't seen him in a couple games. Yeah, I hope so. But he should be back. He had the week to recover and it should be an electric game. Okay, perfect. I love that you're looking at the Pac twelve website because I like this game we play where you all try and guess like the spread or something like that. I always look at the website. I'm not I'm not looking at it. I'm just I'm just looking at the ESPN app. This is gonna blow you away. Okay, what is the spread for this one? Can we can we guess? I'm gonna guess Texas State seven and a half. I'm gonna guess Texas State five and a half. Dan, do you do you dabble in just guessing a spread here for Texas State, Colorado State? I don't want to be a cheater. It's right here on the SPN app. It's twelve and a half. But holy cow. For Texas State? Yeah. At least according according to ESPN. I don't know what you're looking at. I'm looking at the same thing as you. It's my And then it even gets crazier. the money line is Texas State minus five hundred. we're gonna lose this game. The overunder delivers beautifully though, sixty eight and a half. Seventy point. Yeah, we that's gonna end it. Yeah. My my guess is Haas Haney is doubtful if if the spread is that large. See, that's the only way I can think that like Texas State would be able to separate that much from Ferrar's gonna run all over? I'm not saying that, but like I did it against UTSA. U T S A won this weekend, brother. I I'm not gonna fight for them. I'm sorry. No, I'm saying he did it against UTSA too, who's beat Texas State technically. I'm on very minimal sleep. I'm sorry. I'm very very defensive right now. But yeah, I mean we can just go right into this one, break it down. Colorado State, Texas State. Who do we have in this one? It's we're predicting it's going to be a shootout. Vegas says it's going to be a shootout. Texas State, 12 point favorites. Why are we feeling? for me, I'm really I don't know, man. I really don't know. I really gotta know if Hoss Haney's playing. That's another thing. I hate doing this on Sundays because real quick, while you think about it, we had a comment on YouTube from last week's episode. Someone said Kirby Moore did take over the play calling. No, he didn't look No he didn't. He he didn't take it over that week. That guy was wrong. We we 'cause No, he's saying that like When we picked Utah State over Wazoo, we said, Well, if Kirby Moore takes over the play calling, we'll change our mind. And then twenty four Okay, so he was twenty four hours after we recorded, they announced Kirby Moore took over the play calling. So let's be real, it's kind of hard with these picks on Sunday because we're so far out from the game. We still don't know if Hoss Haney's gonna play. I think he's gonna be healthy. I think he's gonna play, and I'm still gonna pick Texas State. I I I'm leaning the same way. I just think there's there's one thing that Texas State does a little better and it's their defense. and and granted we don't know what defense Colorado State's gonna throw at them, right? could be the week one defense or you know, the U T S A game defense. Exactly, man. We we we have no idea what we're getting. We know it's the same players. I know it's a different play caller, but I don't think it changes much. I think Texas State will ledge them out. I think the thing that gives me hope for Texas State is that Their backs are against the wall after that San Diego State game. And if they lose this game, I think you could just talk the season. I don't think they're gonna compete. Not in the Pac twelve at least. They're just praying for a bowl game. So it's do or die for Texas State, and I think that gives them the boost they need. I also think that the running game's just gonna come back and if Torrance Burgess can have a game, he usually does, and I don't think they're gonna stop them. Give me the Bobcats. What about you, Dan? Who you got for this one? Yeah, so It was tough. I was looking at it. you know, I think Jim Moore, he's he's a good coach. We've had to to deal with him, like yeah, I think UConn, I think, and and yeah, Colorado State. We we we've had some wins, also some losses there. But so I I think I and I I'm not I don't know a ton about your coach. I was just looking him up. He was the coach at Incarnate Word before, and so and then you mentioned he's a big bow. Yeah, I well so the so two, two and three teams on Thursday night, that'll be fun. You can watch that along with Prime Video. I th so this is my like master plan, right? I my master plan is Texas State kinda beats Colorado State and just starts filling themselves and then you know who's coming next week is Utah State. So so so so I I I hope that that Texas State does good and just feels like, Utah State will be a walk in the park and maybe underestimates The the defense and the potential for a a Grady Brosterhouse like master class game, right? Can I say that a few weeks ago we said that Utah State was gonna sneaky get one of these teams. I I I'm not I'm not making my pick now, it's way too early to assume. That could be it right there. I Utah State over Texas State, that's very It's a game DJ Kenny would like to lose. Yeah, he I I could I could see his face now in the fourth quarter when they're down by three points. And he's he there's n not a thought in his mind. Like just that that blank stare. But I really hate that we just swept with Texas State right there. So that's your pick, Danny with Texas State over Colorado State? Yeah, and I was gonna say, w we'll we'll have to see 'cause cause and then the week after we're on the road against you guys. So I I'm not sure how like your your home advantage is, but but I saw some videos when when when Texas State got the Pac twelve invite that there there was like a celebration, right, with like some Some of those, what's what's that called? The the the the lights. yeah. The the the drone the drone show, yeah. So so yeah. I i if it's like that atmosphere where where Texas State is and and and I've never seen I I I visited San Marcos and did a glass bottom boat tour like last summer and we have some family that lives out there, but I've never really seen what what the stadium looks like. So I'd do you do you guys think how like how how has the fan base been been showing up to games? Are they are they being being like a A factor like as far as like the home field advantage? Not this year yet, but we haven't had a pack twelve game yet at home. because y'all are on a Saturday, let me see what time the kick is. It's it's a six thirty kick against y'all, and it is homecoming for Texas State. So we'll be wearing our Southwest Texas State throwback jerseys. It's a night game, it's a pack twelve game. So I think for So they probably won't show up. No, for the case of Utah State, that sucks. You're playing us on homecoming because that's when most people will show up. I do think the last time Texas State did play on a Thursday, though, they usually do show up. Yeah, it's just never that great. Arizona State two years ago JMU less. And then JMU I thought that was a Tuesday game. Right, yeah. It was a Tuesday, but they did show up. So I think the midweek games. I also think it's been a little bit since the Cats have been home. So I think a couple people are just gonna be like, we gotta go watch the game. gotta go watch the game. So I think it's gonna be good, but to Cayenne's point, it it hasn't been that good to start the packs twelve years. Dude, if Hoss Haney plays dude, I wanna change my pick, bro. I'll hey hey we'll we'll allow it this one time. Since we don't know the report yet, that I will allow it. If you want to change your pick if we know then then then you can then you can have that. All right if Haas Haney plays this week I'm going just just put a star on the graph. It's gonna be like a boss. Yeah, but even if all Sandy plays off, yeah, I will still I'll still take the catch. Okay, yeah. Yeah. I'm tired of picking there. Texas State always loses when I pick dude. They've only ever beat incarnate word and North Texas when I picked them. Yeah, shout out Brett for that. They can't beat anybody normal. All right, we're gonna get mad and the game hasn't even happened yet. We're gonna move on to the next one. Washington State taking on Oregon State. Cor Vegas once again hosting this one. This is also a five PM game. This is the first one on Saturday. This is the USA game, so big gatter, I think actually I don't know if they're getting this one. It's the lone game, so I assume so. Yeah, lone USA network game. Bang. Okay, so they will be back there. But Wazoo, we talked about how they were struggling and it doesn't get any easier. They're probably gonna face on the hottest team in the conference. I think we all know where we're gonna go with this one. Yeah. Do we need to spend much time on here, Dan? Is it do you have any any any fight for Washington State or is it pretty clear Oregon State? I mean it it is clear Oregon State. I will say Washington State has had some good years. Like like there's a couple of times where we played them and like w we had a a year where we barely beat beat them. but but yeah, this is does not seem like that year. I'm I'm gonna go Oregon State. Yeah, I wanna guess the spread or something wrong. It's gotta be something in the twenties, right? no? Thirties? No forties? No, it's down. No way. It's seventeen and a half. That's way too low. That's the freestyle way too low. That's the freest spread of my W Washington State, think about their defense. They do have a good defense at Australia. And Vegas is showing love to that defense because they think that not a lot of points are going to be scored. Over under is at fifty three and a half. They're gonna hit that. Caden Pennick will give you twelve and Braden Atkinson will give you forty two. I think they score like the final score of this game is gonna be like Fifty six to six. Okay. I don't think they score a touchdown. I think it's two field goals. Can I can I break the illusion for a second? Marvin Harrison to the Texans. that's that is official. Damn that's cool. All like five Texas fans are gonna be like our season saved. Our season saved. All right, I think I think we'll move on to our last game of the slate. Fresh now state taking on San Diego State. I mean, I don't want to spoil it, but I think we have potentially three sweeps on this one. Yep. This is gonna be one of those weeks. yeah, I think it's Fresno without a doubt. Yeah. But I will say that San Diego defense will give Fresno trouble. And you think this is a potential trap game? They can run the ball. Kennard's back. Kennard's gonna be back. So he played what's what's with Luck what's with Lucky Sun too. Did he just die? Knee or ankle. I think his ankle. So he's gonna be out for a little while longer, probably. Yeah, he probably sprained it really bad, you know, it's probably bruised up, swollen. He's in a boot, I assume. But yeah, it's an ankle injury. That sucks. Yeah, with Fresno State's rush rush defense, man, that that it it listen, it it could be like trap in like a Trojan horse, but I I don't think it's gonna be this one. I I'll t still take the Bulldogs. I won't overthink this. I have an interesting question though. Do we think Jade and Denegal starts this game? I don't know. I at what point do you make the change, right? I mean they low key already did last week. They should like I I guess so, yeah. I why not? Why not you got nothing to lose really? Yeah. What what's the spread on this game, Caden? What is a spread? Eight and a half. Fresno? Fresno. Yeah. I don't know. It's a little closer than I'd like it because it is in San Diego. They must be accounting for a lot of like factors. I I bet they I bet that quarterback's probably How long does the mumps last? When should they have their team back? I mean I don't know. I thought they were back. I thought were already back, yeah. According to San Diego State fans on Twitter, they're still missing a bunch of players. Well man, so Tech State just sucks, huh? Yeah. And we really just poverty, huh? I don't know, dude. I feel like I'm feeling trap game, but after Sean Lewis talked to the media for thirty seconds, I hate him. I hate him. He didn't bring his kids out this time. That's nice. He didn't fly out? No. To Port Vegas. I I'll just go with Fresno, because yeah, I think they kind of run away with this one, honestly. I think they win by twenty. How about you, Dan? How you feel about this one? So this is a a tough one. Well, I like I don't want to overthink it, but you know, but the way it i it it is it is a pack 12 after dark game. And yeah, I know Fresno's looking looking better, but yeah, there can be chaos. And you know, I like I feel like you guys did. did gift me the the win a little bit with the Boise State. So I'm I'm tempted like yeah, we could just make it boring and s and have it be a sweep. I think if there was a game that where there's more potential for some chaos, it honestly feels more like Colorado State, Texas State might be a crazy one. Like like you said, based on if Hosaney plays or not. So so I mean i i if there's a way we can yeah, i it i if if s if one of us picks like Colorado State, then maybe there's a chance. But maybe we are we're just all winners, right? So That being said, yeah, I I think I I think ever everybody's gonna get a a participation trophy like that. Well I'll pick the same and I'll I'll go with Fresno State, even though I was tempted to pick San Diego State. I was too, honestly. Just a little bit. Just the Because it's it's Pac twelve after dark. It's in San Diego. We Yeah, I got to thinking about it, but it I'm not gonna bet against the Bulldogs. No. well, I know you're not, but like even at the same time it's just like one of you guys take it, please. I'm not moved. I'm not make that graphic interesting. I'm not I'm not moved enough. No, I'm not either, but like I just feel like if they could scratch one across, maybe it is this one because last time their backs were against the wall, you know, they they made something out of it. But I I just don't much two different teams. I Fresno. I about to say I think it's a much better coaching at Fresno. Yeah, I I just wish there'd be a little bit more chaos. I feel like we might miss out on it this week. Sometimes, bro, this is cherry picking week, bro. Yeah. I I think maybe sometimes the best answer is the most simple one, right? Yeah. I think Texas State, Colorado State will be the game to deliver this weekend. for sure. That's I think game of the week. Easily. But I think that'll do it for us. And I think that'll just wrap it up entirely. I think we covered basically everything and we've been on here for a little bit, so we're just gonna call it there. But thank you so much, Dan, for coming out and being on the show for us today. Do you got any last words you want to say before we head out of here?
